- 3:21In local news.
- 3:22In Needham, Massachusetts, a magnet fisher made a startling discovery in the Charles
- 3:27River, finding a live mortar.
- 3:31The incident led to the temporary closure of a busy road as emergency services, including
- 3:37the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, responded.
- 3:41John Martel, the magnet fisher, was live streaming on his YouTube channel when he unearthed the
- 3:47ordinance.
- 3:50Upon realizing the danger, Martel contacted the police, understanding the potential risk,
- 3:56especially to children.
- 3:58Authorities decided to safely detonate the mortar in a controlled area, alerting nearby
- 4:04residents by phone notifications.
- 4:08Martel's find didn't stop at the mortar.
- 4:10He also retrieved a gun with a damage trigger guard from the river.
- 4:15His efforts reflect a commitment to cleaning up waterways and contributing positively to
- 4:20the environment.
- 4:23Police have reassured the public that this was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat
- 4:28to community safety.
- 4:36The Denver Broncos are set to release quarterback Russell Wilson, a move influenced by the financial
- 4:41implications of his contract.
- 4:45The decision to release him allows the team to distribute the capped impact across 2024
- 4:50and 2025.
- 4:53For 2024, the cap charges $35 million, with a subsequent $50 million charge in 2025.
- 5:03This strategic release, structured as a post-June 1st transaction, offers the Broncos a way to
- 5:09manage their salary cap more effectively.
- 5:13The move comes with a potential saving grace.
- 5:16If Wilson signs elsewhere in 2024, the Broncos could receive a credit against his guaranteed
- 5:22compensation, applied in 2025.
- 5:27Avoiding further financial strain, the Broncos avoided guaranteeing Wilson's $37 million
- 5:33salary for 2025 by not extending him past March 17.
- 5:40Last night in national hockey, the Bruins stopped their skid on the road, beat the Maple
- 5:44Leafs 4-1.
- 5:47And tonight, the Celtics are on the road to take on the Cavs.

- 6:08Bullman's Axe has opened its Possibility Summit for Black college students to include
- 6:14white students, reflecting broader changes across the financial sector.
- 6:20Bank of America and Bank of New York Mellon are among those re-evaluating their DEI strategies
- 6:26with the latter, advised to abandon hard metrics for workforce diversity.
- 6:33These changes signal a retreat from previous commitments to DEI spurred by legal challenges
- 6:39and the politicization of affirmative action and DEI efforts.
- 6:45Recruitment programs and internal DEI initiatives are being reworked, moving away from exclusive
- 6:51focus on women and minorities to broader inclusivity.
- 6:56The shift marks a departure from recent years' momentum towards racial reckoning and inclusive
- 7:01hiring driven by a legal and cultural backlash.
- 7:07In business news, Bitcoin has reached a new all-time high, trading at $68,791, surpassing
- 7:17its previous record set in November of 2021.
- 7:22This surge breaks a more than two-year period of stagnation and revives optimism in the
- 7:27crypto ecosystem.
- 7:31The climb in Bitcoin's value has been significantly influenced by the U.S. regulator's approval
- 7:36of Bitcoin exchange trade funds attracting mainstream investors.
- 7:42These spot Bitcoin ATS, which reflect Bitcoin's market price in real time, launched in January
- 7:48and have already generated over $4.2 billion in new investments.
- 7:54Bitcoin ATS offer a more accessible way for investors to gain Bitcoin exposure without
- 8:01the need for digital wallets or cryptocurrency exchanges.
- 8:07Despite past challenges, including high-profile bankruptcies and legal issues within the crypto
- 8:12industry, Bitcoin's price has risen over 200% in the past year.
- 8:19Investor enthusiasm is also buoyed by the upcoming halving event, expected to further
- 8:24increase Bitcoin's value due to its design scarcity.
- 8:29Bitcoin is currently just over $66,000.

- 9:32Let's talk science.
- 9:34SpaceX has achieved a significant milestone by launching a total of 76 satellites in two
- 9:40separate missions from California and Florida this week.
- 9:45Following the successful launch of the Crew Dragon spacecraft to the ISS, SpaceX conducted
- 9:51its 10th rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base.
- 9:56This mission included 53 small satellites, among them MethaneSat, a satellite developed
- 10:02by the Environmental Defense Fund to monitor methane emissions.
- 10:09MethaneSat aims to identify and measure methane releases from various sources, utilizing high-resolution
- 10:16infrared technology.
- 10:19The project, which seemed ambitious initially, successfully raised $88 million from diverse
- 10:25donors, including the Bezos Earth Fund.
- 10:29Shortly after, SpaceX launched 23 more of its Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral,
- 10:36increasing the total to 5,942 satellites in orbit.
- 10:42SpaceX's ambitious plan includes launching over 140 Falcon family rockets this year,
- 10:49highlighting its leading role in commercial spaceflight.
- 10:54And in entertainment news, Paramount Global, once a dominant force in the media landscape,
- 11:01faces a challenging future as it seeks a buyer amid the tumultuous streaming wars.
- 11:08Sherry Redstone's attempt to pivot the company towards streaming, with significant investments
- 11:13in Paramount+, hasn't yielded the anticipated audience growth or financial stability.
- 11:21Paramount's struggle is emblematic of broader industry challenges, including declining cable
- 11:26TV subscriptions and a competitive streaming market dominated by giants like Netflix and
- 11:32Disney.
- 11:35The company's financial difficulties, compounded by a $1.5 billion projected loss from its
- 11:41streaming business in 2023, have prompted considerations of selling the iconic family
- 11:47business.
- 11:50Potential buyers have emerged, including media mogul David Ellison and private equity firms,
- 11:56but high interest rates and regulatory hurdles complicate any potential deal.
- 12:02The decline of Paramount not only risks the legacy of its historic studio and networks
- 12:07like CBS, MTV, and Nickelodeon, but also reflects the broader existential threats facing traditional
- 12:15media companies.
- 12:16Well, alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the day.
- 12:22And today, in honor of all this face talk, here's a quote from astronaut Jim Lovell.
- 12:27There are people who make things happen, there are people who watch things happen, and there
- 12:34are people who wonder what happened.
- 12:37To be successful, you need to be a person who makes things happen.
- 12:43And that's a wrap for this morning.
- 12:45Remember to stay tuned tomorrow for more news and updates.
- 12:49Have an amazing day, my good friends.
