- Adam Rutz: There's a big difference between hoping you can handle what's coming and knowing you can handle what's coming. And that difference is your self-belief. It's not fake confidence or arrogance and it's not believing everything is always gonna go your way. I'm talking about having an undefeated belief in yourself that says, no matter what happens, I'm going to figure it out. Because you know you're willing to put the work in. You know you're willing to prepare. You know you're willing to adjust, learn, and keep going until you become capable of handling whatever's in front of you. And here's the teaching lesson behind that. Real self-belief isn't built by constantly telling yourself how great you are. It's built through evidence. Every hard workout you finish, every early morning you show up, every call you make when you don't feel like making it, every practice you complete, every difficult situation you've already survived. You're creating evidence that says, I can trust myself. That's why preparation creates confidence. When you know you're willing to put the work in, the question changes. Instead of asking, can I handle this? You start saying, Whatever this requires, I'll become capable of handling it. That's a completely different mentality because you don't need to have every answer today. You don't need to know exactly how you're going to accomplish the goal. You just need to know you're not going to stop working towards it. And if you never stop, you're still in the fight. Think about that. You can lose a game and still be undefeated mentally. You can lose the sale, get passed over on the promotion, get benched, have a terrible month, make a mistake. None of those things defeat you unless you allow them to convince you to stop. That the most dangerous competitor isn't necessarily the person who has never failed. It's the person who has failed over and over again and still believes I'm going to figure this out. So here's what I want you to work on today. When something difficult shows up, catch yourself before you ask, what if I can't do this? Replace it with what preparation does this require from me? Then go do the work. Because undefeated self-belief doesn't mean nobody can beat you on the scoreboard. It means nobody can convince you that you're finished. You can knock me down, you can tell me no, you can give the opportunity to somebody else, you can put adversity directly in front of me. But as long as I'm willing to keep learning, keep preparing, keep working, and keep coming back, I'm still in it. And if I'm still in it, I still have a chance. That's undefeated self-belief. It's not, I know I'm going to win every time. It's I know I will never stop becoming the person capable of winning. Build so much evidence through your work that when life asks, can you handle this? Your answer isn't a question. It's watch me. Mindset, process, discipline, execution. That's mental performance daily.
