- 1:30Speaker 1: know nothing down there the link you sick os U.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'll take you to a link tree where I'll take
- 1:39Speaker 1: it together. Podcasting avoid Production. I'll take you to a
- 1:45Speaker 1: link to a link tree where you can see the
- 1:47Speaker 1: other podcasting Neonic Void Productions family of podcasts. Good enough,
- 1:54Speaker 1: as well as the YouTube channel.
- 1:56Speaker 3: How are you we got? No, we don't have an
- 1:58Speaker 3: actual housekeeper here, so that's why we're in a near
- 2:01Speaker 3: constin state of messiness.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Well, you know we did, and she's out there somewhere
- 2:07Speaker 1: right now. Get feeling a disturbance in the forest. Mean
- 2:09Speaker 1: like he's fucking that up again, isn't it just like she?
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'm sure she feels it. She feels it every time
- 2:16Speaker 1: I do it? Which time I do it wrong?
- 2:18Speaker 3: Probably they probably do.
- 2:20Speaker 1: But anyway, but yeah, all that would be a description below.
- 2:23Speaker 1: If you want to go falls on YouTube, please subscribe. Ah,
- 2:29Speaker 1: tell your friends, tell your mom, to your grandma. Where's
- 2:31Speaker 1: two faggots? I like to read books.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Mm hm, and we like talking about them. Yeah, and
- 2:39Speaker 3: also watching and also watching the movies.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Yeah, even though we haven't had one. We haven't had
- 2:44Speaker 1: a book in a while.
- 2:45Speaker 3: To have a movie, I mean this series, this one series,
- 2:54Speaker 3: and I think the next books we're probably gonna do
- 2:58Speaker 3: aren't gonna have a movie. But yeah, next three books
- 3:03Speaker 3: that we're gonna do or I'm gonna really have them. Uh,
- 3:08Speaker 3: don't have movies, but we've decided to. But of course
- 3:11Speaker 3: we've decided to open broaden our horizons because not every
- 3:15Speaker 3: book has a movie, and you know, there's only so
- 3:18Speaker 3: much we have to work with. And I haven't have
- 3:21Speaker 3: seen a lot of movies and that have been based
- 3:23Speaker 3: off of books, but I have not. You kind of
- 3:25Speaker 3: either not read them then that I almost had read
- 3:28Speaker 3: the movies, I have not read the books, or I've
- 3:31Speaker 3: read the books but not watched the movie. Oh my god,
- 3:36Speaker 3: there's a bright ass cardinal right outside my window, like
- 3:41Speaker 3: we're talking. It's a male. So it's like all pretty
- 3:44Speaker 3: and like bright red. These cardinals like have been like
- 3:49Speaker 3: I think they're building a nest in the tree outside
- 3:51Speaker 3: my house, and they'll literally fly up and kind of
- 3:55Speaker 3: like cling to the the land on the wire the
- 3:59Speaker 3: screen outside my outside my window, and they'll just chill
- 4:02Speaker 3: out there. Like the females do that a lot. But
- 4:04Speaker 3: this is the first time I've seen one of the males.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Oh it's gone anyway, that's my goldfish brain at work,
- 4:12Speaker 3: get easily distracted. Oh yeah. So today we are going
- 4:19Speaker 3: to be completing the review of the The Mortal Instruments
- 4:26Speaker 3: by Cassandra clair Uh. This is the last book of
- 4:29Speaker 3: The Mortal Instruments. City of Heavenly fire. Uh, this is
- 4:33Speaker 3: gonna be the epic climactic fancy word meaning ending imax.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Oh oh, this is the tamed buckle again. Okay, I'm
- 4:48Speaker 1: just gonna here's my drink.
- 4:52Speaker 3: You just really like sucking on things, don't you.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Wow. Listen here, man, listen here, b I know where
- 5:00Speaker 1: you live. I'm seeing tomorrow.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Oh oh wow, Wow, I'm shaking in my boots. Anyway,
- 5:10Speaker 3: this book is going to be the This this particular
- 5:14Speaker 3: book is going to be more emotional and more It's
- 5:18Speaker 3: gonna have higher stakes because the is Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern,
- 5:25Speaker 3: or as he prefers to call himself now Sebastian. He
- 5:30Speaker 3: is now working in full swing wanting to overthrow the
- 5:35Speaker 3: shadow Hunters and basically take over the world and unleashed
- 5:39Speaker 3: demon kind and everything onto the world he is now create.
- 5:44Speaker 3: He's now in the process of creating the entire new
- 5:50Speaker 3: form of shadow Hunters shadow Hunter. The shadow Hunters themselves
- 5:55Speaker 3: call these dark shadow Hunters the Darkened, mainly because most
- 6:00Speaker 3: of them were former shadow Hunters that chose to that
- 6:04Speaker 3: either willingly drank from the infernal cup that that Sebastian
- 6:10Speaker 3: created to become and darkened, or in other cases, they
- 6:14Speaker 3: were forced to drink this, to drink the blood from
- 6:17Speaker 3: the from the Shadow Cup and and were turned against
- 6:22Speaker 3: was turned into the Darkened against their will. So this
- 6:27Speaker 3: book has a lot of very emotional and like very
- 6:33Speaker 3: emotional and just really heartbreaking scenarios. Because Jonathan begins attacking
- 6:40Speaker 3: uh institutes all across the world. He ends up leading
- 6:45Speaker 3: leading attacks against five different institutions across the world before
- 6:52Speaker 3: the Clave declares a state of emergency and retreat and
- 6:56Speaker 3: calls every shadow Hunter back to Idris for a lot down.
- 7:01Speaker 3: So pretty much they abandoned their outpos to protect as
- 7:04Speaker 3: many of them Because every time Sebastian attacks an institute,
- 7:09Speaker 3: he doesn't immediately kill all the shadow Hunters. He tries
- 7:13Speaker 3: to capture as many of the shadow Hunters as possible
- 7:16Speaker 3: and he forces them to drink from the cup from
- 7:18Speaker 3: the Dark Cup. And this book does introduce some characters
- 7:24Speaker 3: that will eventually have their own stories in one of
- 7:27Speaker 3: the later novels. So in the one of the in
- 7:31Speaker 3: the Los Angeles Institute, there was these kids, these younger
- 7:35Speaker 3: shadow Hunters. They witnessed their father get turned into and
- 7:41Speaker 3: it darkened, and that and that particular shadow Hunter nearly
- 7:45Speaker 3: kills his own children under Sebastian's control while under Spastian's control.
- 7:52Speaker 3: So luckily for them, they managed to escape and make
- 7:54Speaker 3: it back to Idris. And now the has to Now
- 8:01Speaker 3: the Clave declares war against not only against not only
- 8:06Speaker 3: the Sebastian and the Shadow and the Darkened, but they
- 8:10Speaker 3: will they're also, without really knowing it, declaring war against
- 8:14Speaker 3: the Sealy Court. Because I need to like make a
- 8:17Speaker 3: correction of something I said in one of the earlier episodes,
- 8:19Speaker 3: because I got confused, because there are two major battles
- 8:22Speaker 3: that happened in Idris. First one was the uh was
- 8:26Speaker 3: against Valentine, and I said that in that one that
- 8:29Speaker 3: the Sealy Court had fought with Valencine, and they did
- 8:33Speaker 3: attack and they did take part in that battle. It's
- 8:37Speaker 3: actually it wasn't It was actually not this one I had.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I'm sorry I got confused. The Seely Court actually sends
- 8:44Speaker 3: their warriors against Idris in this book. So later on,
- 8:49Speaker 3: the Sealy Queen sends her sends her warriors to fight
- 8:52Speaker 3: alongside the Darkens, and they fight against the and they
- 8:56Speaker 3: fight against the Clave. A they is that while the
- 9:02Speaker 3: Shadow while the shadow Hunters are trying to are trying
- 9:07Speaker 3: to regroup, figure out what figure out their next move
- 9:11Speaker 3: against the Darken. They get word that the Darkin had
- 9:15Speaker 3: had launched an attack against the Adamant Citadel. The Adamant
- 9:19Speaker 3: Citadel was introduced in the last book that is the
- 9:23Speaker 3: stronghold of the Iron Sisters, and just quick break out
- 9:28Speaker 3: the Iron Sisters or the female counterpart of the Silent Brothers.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Where the Silent Brothers are the like they're the healers
- 9:39Speaker 3: and the bureaucrats and the uh historians and cultural practitioners
- 9:47Speaker 3: basically like anything like pretty much like the clerical uh
- 9:50Speaker 3: faction of the shadow Hunters. The Iron Sisters are the industrial.
- 9:55Speaker 3: They're the ones that are in They're the ones responsible
- 9:59Speaker 3: for build, for forging and building all shadow Hunter weapons
- 10:02Speaker 3: and armor, so everything the shadow Hunter needs, from the
- 10:05Speaker 3: stela to their gear to the swords that they wield,
- 10:10Speaker 3: both Adamus weapons and just regular crude weapons. I say
- 10:15Speaker 3: crude weapons because these are because they can't use anything
- 10:17Speaker 3: more advanced than a bone arrow than swords in a
- 10:20Speaker 3: bow and arrow. So when they learned the attack, they
- 10:27Speaker 3: immediately send a They send a large group of shadow
- 10:32Speaker 3: Hunters to repel the attack. About fifty shadow hunters sent
- 10:36Speaker 3: to fight off the and Darkened. The think about the
- 10:39Speaker 3: think about this this ensuing battle is that many shadow
- 10:44Speaker 3: hunters die because a lot of them come face to
- 10:46Speaker 3: face with some of their loved ones. So in some cases,
- 10:50Speaker 3: their loved ones willingly turn to the dark, to the
- 10:52Speaker 3: dark side, and other cases they were forced into drinking
- 10:56Speaker 3: from the from the Dark Cup. And and because of this,
- 11:00Speaker 3: some of them die because they try to reason what
- 11:03Speaker 3: their loved ones try to get them to, like, you know,
- 11:05Speaker 3: see the light come back to us, but they can't
- 11:08Speaker 3: because the effects of the of the Dark Cup are
- 11:11Speaker 3: permanent and all consuming. So these shadows the Darken are
- 11:16Speaker 3: completely just They're completely under the control of Sebastian, and
- 11:21Speaker 3: they are cold blooded killers, savages. And the way that
- 11:28Speaker 3: the in Darkened fight, they fight very savagely, so it's
- 11:32Speaker 3: very they're they're ruthless, they're fast, they're strong, They're incredibly strong,
- 11:37Speaker 3: and for a normal shadow hunter, it's incredibly difficult to
- 11:41Speaker 3: beat to be in Darkened. Some are able to do it, uh,
- 11:45Speaker 3: are able to do it fairly easily, but others have
- 11:48Speaker 3: a hard time against them. Uh. It's only the fight
- 11:51Speaker 3: does come to an end when the Iron Sisters themselves
- 11:55Speaker 3: intervene in the battle. The reason why they decided to
- 12:01Speaker 3: take the thing is is that the reason why the
- 12:04Speaker 3: Iron Sisters stepped in was because they sensed they had
- 12:08Speaker 3: sensed that Jace had holy fire, still had the holy
- 12:13Speaker 3: fire inside of him, and during the fight, the holy
- 12:16Speaker 3: fire ends up flaring up and lashing out, and the
- 12:21Speaker 3: Iron Sisters have, being more familiar with the properties of
- 12:25Speaker 3: holy fire, they felt like they needed to step in
- 12:28Speaker 3: to come to Jas's aid, not only to like protect him,
- 12:32Speaker 3: but also to help keep him from it, from keeping
- 12:35Speaker 3: it from going out of control. The reason why the
- 12:37Speaker 3: fire ended up going out of control was because Jace
- 12:40Speaker 3: himself had come face to face with Sebastian. The two fought.
- 12:46Speaker 3: The two fought very savagely. Again, what's the word not savagely?
- 12:51Speaker 3: It was a very fierce battle between the two of them.
- 12:54Speaker 3: But unfortunately Chase is wounded by Sebastian. Sebastian is now
- 12:59Speaker 3: wielding H a Morgan Stern sword like a it's like
- 13:03Speaker 3: a like a family heirloom with the Morganstern household. His
- 13:06Speaker 3: father used to hold it and H. In the last book,
- 13:10Speaker 3: Clairie herself also got uh. She also got a hold
- 13:15Speaker 3: of her own Morgan Stern sword, but it's like a
- 13:19Speaker 3: short sword. I believe that sword was called heels for us. Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 3: he's I'm not sure how to pronounce this, but it's
- 13:29Speaker 3: healespros or sparos h e O s p h O
- 13:37Speaker 3: r O s. So when Sebastian wounded Jace, Uh, Sebastian
- 13:42Speaker 3: stabbed Jase with his sword, and this caused the whole
- 13:45Speaker 3: the Heavenly fire to Claire and Uh, and the fire
- 13:50Speaker 3: jumps from Jace goes up the sword and strikes at Sebastian,
- 13:56Speaker 3: which severely hurts him like it actually hurts him worse
- 13:59Speaker 3: than any other and has in the past. And Uh.
- 14:03Speaker 3: This forced the Sebastian to retreat, and that's when the
- 14:05Speaker 3: Silent Sisters step in and Uh try and try to
- 14:11Speaker 3: get control of the fire. One of the Silent Brothers
- 14:16Speaker 3: had also joined the battle. He had also came. He
- 14:19Speaker 3: also had joined the battle to ward off the and
- 14:21Speaker 3: darkened Uh. This particular silent brother he's actually been making
- 14:24Speaker 3: a real He's been a reoccurring character throughout the series.
- 14:28Speaker 3: He's called Brother Zachariah, and Zachariah being more knowledgeable on
- 14:35Speaker 3: heavenly Fire attempts to try to calm Jason, try to
- 14:41Speaker 3: calm Jase and use a healing room on him to like,
- 14:44Speaker 3: not only heal his wound, but see if you can
- 14:46Speaker 3: get the heavenly fire to dissipate and to dissipate. And
- 14:53Speaker 3: when his stell as soon as his stella touches Jason's hand,
- 14:57Speaker 3: the flames leap from jas and Strike's brothers Zachariah. The
- 15:02Speaker 3: thing is, it doesn't kill Zachariah. The fire. The flames
- 15:06Speaker 3: do engulf him, and do engulf him, but they don't
- 15:10Speaker 3: burn him necessarily. What they do is they end up
- 15:14Speaker 3: reverting him back to his original human shadow hunter, so
- 15:19Speaker 3: like he still has his he still has his rooms,
- 15:23Speaker 3: his permanent rooms etched on his body, but what the
- 15:26Speaker 3: flames did was revert him back to a pre Silent
- 15:29Speaker 3: Brother state. So like we've already talked about how the
- 15:33Speaker 3: Silent Brothers have these physical deformities as that are caused
- 15:36Speaker 3: as a result of the very powerful rooms that they
- 15:39Speaker 3: take on. And for some reason, the flame reverts him
- 15:44Speaker 3: back to normal, like reverses the alterations to his body.
- 15:49Speaker 3: His lips are no longer stitched together, and his eye
- 15:51Speaker 3: sockets are no longer empty. He looks like a regular
- 15:54Speaker 3: young man, like okay, So so they learn, they get more.
- 16:03Speaker 3: They start learning more and more of how heavenly fire
- 16:06Speaker 3: works because heavenly fire will not burn somebody who is well,
- 16:11Speaker 3: It will not harm somebody who is good, right, good
- 16:17Speaker 3: or sure. Really, all it does is it burns anything
- 16:21Speaker 3: that is evil or corrupting. So it's something that more
- 16:26Speaker 3: or less affects your like you like, it'll burn things
- 16:31Speaker 3: that are like moral or like somebody who's like definitely evil,
- 16:36Speaker 3: or if you were a half demon, which is why
- 16:38Speaker 3: it hurts Sebastian so much. Going back a bit, in
- 16:41Speaker 3: the wake of the battle, Sebastian decides to change things
- 16:45Speaker 3: up a bit. He basically sends a warning to the Clave,
- 16:49Speaker 3: letting him know that he's coming for them, that he's
- 16:52Speaker 3: coming for them, and he begins to change tactics by
- 16:56Speaker 3: isolating the shadow Hunters from the rest of the down world.
- 17:00Speaker 3: He does this by tricking the downworld representatives because in
- 17:05Speaker 3: the wake of the of the Rebellion Valentine's rebellion, the
- 17:10Speaker 3: Clave had formed a council with the downworlders. That way,
- 17:13Speaker 3: they would get equal representation and promote better unity and
- 17:20Speaker 3: cooperation between the shadow Hunters and the Downworlders. Now, uh
- 17:25Speaker 3: so the Downworlders all, like all four major factions of
- 17:29Speaker 3: the Downworlders had a representative. There was Meliorn from the Fay,
- 17:37Speaker 3: Loop from the Loop from the Werewolves, Magnus from the Warlocks,
- 17:41Speaker 3: and Raphael from the Vampires. The thing is is that
- 17:44Speaker 3: because the Ceily Court is working with Sebastian, Melliorn, who
- 17:50Speaker 3: the Fay representative, tricks the other representatives and drugs them
- 17:54Speaker 3: and hands them over to being darkened. Unfortunately, since Luke
- 18:01Speaker 3: and Joscelyn go hand in hand, Jocelyn unfortunately he's also kidnapped.
- 18:05Speaker 3: And the thing is that when the shadow Hunters tried
- 18:07Speaker 3: to assemble uh their cancer their council meeting and called
- 18:12Speaker 3: the Downworlders for help, they realized the representatives are missing,
- 18:17Speaker 3: and in the floor of the cave of the Clay
- 18:20Speaker 3: Paul they find blood. They find a message from Sebastian
- 18:23Speaker 3: written in angel blood uh stating I have come like okay,
- 18:30Speaker 3: shut up, swear to God, Devin, you have a dirty
- 18:33Speaker 3: your mind that I hear.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I'd said nothing.
- 18:40Speaker 3: You didn't have to you didn't have to look at
- 18:43Speaker 3: the people look at that look at that face.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I know it's cute. I know, you know it's durable.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, I know.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I don't know you're talking about.
- 19:00Speaker 3: I don't know you're talking about anyway. The thing is
- 19:04Speaker 3: that uh, one of the and dark And appears in
- 19:09Speaker 3: the Clave, a former shadow hunter named Anthias. He informs
- 19:13Speaker 3: the shadow Hunters that if they don't surrender Jason Clary
- 19:16Speaker 3: to Sebastians within within two days, the Downloiler representatives will
- 19:21Speaker 3: be executed.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Oh dear.
- 19:28Speaker 3: And the anyway, So our core group of shadow Hunters,
- 19:37Speaker 3: so Jace Clary Simon, he's not a shadow Hunter, but
- 19:41Speaker 3: he's still a vampire, but he's still part of the
- 19:43Speaker 3: main group. The Lightwood siblings Isabelle and Alec. They realized
- 19:48Speaker 3: that they need to go. They need to take down
- 19:51Speaker 3: Sebastian directly. If they can take them down, the dark
- 19:53Speaker 3: and will all go down. Since Sebastian wants Clary and
- 19:58Speaker 3: Jay specifically, better to remove them from the playing field
- 20:02Speaker 3: temporarily and goes straight for Sebastian then have them hide
- 20:06Speaker 3: in the check and the Clad and endanger them and
- 20:08Speaker 3: endanger them further. So they figure out that that's about
- 20:14Speaker 3: the reason why Sebastian is so hard to find is
- 20:16Speaker 3: because he's not hiding in our world. Specifically, every he
- 20:20Speaker 3: tacks and then he retreats to another dimension, and they
- 20:26Speaker 3: figure out that the particular dimension that he's hiding in
- 20:29Speaker 3: is a demon dimension called Eden, not Eden like the
- 20:34Speaker 3: Garden of Eden, but eat them d yep, eat them
- 20:41Speaker 3: so and they are. And that's also where they realize
- 20:46Speaker 3: that the Downroler hostages are being held as well. So
- 20:53Speaker 3: they managed to get they managed to find the entrance
- 21:01Speaker 3: to uh they They managed to find the entrance to
- 21:03Speaker 3: eat them, and as it turns out, the entrance is
- 21:05Speaker 3: through the through the Fame world, so they actually have
- 21:08Speaker 3: to go into the world of the Fay and they
- 21:11Speaker 3: find the pathway that leads them directly into eat them.
- 21:15Speaker 3: So uh yeah, I gotta I gotta figure out how.
- 21:25Speaker 3: But they managed to convince the Sealy Queen to let
- 21:27Speaker 3: the men to eat them. The pathway to eat them better,
- 21:31Speaker 3: they just found it themselves. Eat Them is one of
- 21:34Speaker 3: many worlds blah blah blah, Marred di mensioned in the
- 21:37Speaker 3: world know should play slightly manners. Also, the Realm of
- 21:41Speaker 3: Asmodius and Little Ethnom considered a demon realm of Hell
- 21:45Speaker 3: according to some terms filmed by like Light would eat
- 21:48Speaker 3: them and how the capital city a demon city known
- 21:51Speaker 3: as Dooma. They find they find that the best the
- 21:55Speaker 3: best way to get into eat them is through the Fay.
- 21:57Speaker 3: They learned that the world of fair there is a
- 22:00Speaker 3: direct uh, there is a gateway that will lead them
- 22:04Speaker 3: directly into eat them, So they answer eat them, and
- 22:08Speaker 3: they uh. They begin tracking Sebastian down they know they
- 22:14Speaker 3: determined that he is definitely there and he is hiding
- 22:17Speaker 3: an atom's version of alcant So. As turns out, Eatam
- 22:23Speaker 3: was once a mirror dimension, like an alternate reality of
- 22:27Speaker 3: their world. So it did at one point have shadow
- 22:30Speaker 3: hunters and that people, but it was eventually overrun and
- 22:34Speaker 3: claimed by the demon as Modius. So now it's considered
- 22:38Speaker 3: one of the worlds of Hell. And they as they're
- 22:42Speaker 3: traveling through Eaedom, they do discover like ruins, and they
- 22:48Speaker 3: discover a mosaic and like, uh, what did they call them?
- 22:54Speaker 3: They're like, it's not really a mosaic, because aren't mosaics
- 22:58Speaker 3: Like uh, it's like they're like pictures made out of tiles,
- 23:03Speaker 3: like little tiles. That's a mosaic, right, Yeah, really, I
- 23:09Speaker 3: think they're called reliefs because it's like it's like paintings,
- 23:12Speaker 3: but they're painted directly onto the wall, not on like
- 23:15Speaker 3: a canvas or anything. Uh well, you know, like Michael
- 23:22Speaker 3: Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel, what would you call those paintings,
- 23:27Speaker 3: like just paintings because there's a specific word for it. Anyway,
- 23:32Speaker 3: it's not important, I know what you're talking about. They
- 23:37Speaker 3: find so as they're traveling and getting closer to Adam's
- 23:41Speaker 3: version of the Guard, which is where Sebastian is hiding
- 23:46Speaker 3: and he has the downworld or hostages, they come across
- 23:52Speaker 3: like they come across some ruins and it kind of
- 23:55Speaker 3: feels like to them, it feels like a bit of
- 23:56Speaker 3: like a safe space because they discovered there's like a
- 24:00Speaker 3: clean pool of water in there, and unlike the rest
- 24:02Speaker 3: of this reality, this this pool of water is completely
- 24:06Speaker 3: untouched and it's clean, almost like it's protected, it's being
- 24:09Speaker 3: protected by something. But it's in this in these ruins
- 24:13Speaker 3: that they find these reliefs detailing a similar history to
- 24:18Speaker 3: their world. So like, just like in their world, demons
- 24:22Speaker 3: were invading the world and to counter this, the angel
- 24:26Speaker 3: rezeal created the shadow Hunters. But the thing is, the
- 24:31Speaker 3: shadow Hunters of this world were not as innovative as
- 24:33Speaker 3: the shadow Hunters of their world because instead of using
- 24:38Speaker 3: and crafting the the angelic substance Atamus into more effective weapons,
- 24:46Speaker 3: they mainly used it to create these sort of staves
- 24:50Speaker 3: kind of like a wizard staff, and they basically used
- 24:58Speaker 3: their power, their angelic power and more mage like sense,
- 25:04Speaker 3: so like they wouldn't they would have fixed Atamus to
- 25:06Speaker 3: like a staff, and it was enchanted to create like
- 25:12Speaker 3: like bursts of energy that would burn demons. While that
- 25:16Speaker 3: stuff like that is powerful, it's not very effective because
- 25:19Speaker 3: it's like a one and done kind of weapon. Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 3: So anyway, well so anyway, while they're in this world,
- 25:28Speaker 3: while they're in Edom, they are attacked by demons several times,
- 25:32Speaker 3: and each time they kill the demons, they noticed that
- 25:34Speaker 3: the demons carcasses don't disappear, And this proves a long
- 25:39Speaker 3: accepted theory that when you kill a demon in our world,
- 25:43Speaker 3: you're not actually killing them, you're just simply banishing them
- 25:46Speaker 3: back to the to their home dimension. So since they
- 25:49Speaker 3: are in their home dimension, killing them here, Kerma kills them.
- 25:54Speaker 3: So now like first time, Jason is the one who
- 25:58Speaker 3: kills the demon. Is the just wanted to kill one
- 26:00Speaker 3: of the demons. He's like, huh, I guess I'm the
- 26:02Speaker 3: first men in history to kill an actual demon. It's like, okay, damn.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Throughout during their travel, they do encounter a form of
- 26:13Speaker 3: demon called an edalon or an idolon. Idolons are like
- 26:17Speaker 3: shape shifting demons, and they tend to trick humans and
- 26:21Speaker 3: play on their fears by shape shifting into like people
- 26:24Speaker 3: they know or people they fear. And the thing is
- 26:27Speaker 3: is that one of the one such demon shape shifts
- 26:30Speaker 3: itself into the form of a woman named Magdalena. Magdalena
- 26:35Speaker 3: was an Iron sister that he and Sebastian had had
- 26:39Speaker 3: contacted to create the Shadow Cup. She was a rogue
- 26:42Speaker 3: Iron sister. The thing is, though Sebastian ordered Jase to
- 26:47Speaker 3: go and kill her, well, this was all while jas
- 26:51Speaker 3: was under control. And the thing is Jace he remembers it,
- 26:55Speaker 3: and he feels a lot of guilt for the stuff
- 26:58Speaker 3: that Sebastian made him do. And they and I think
- 27:02Speaker 3: it's this kind of like this kind of unsettled, unsettled Jase,
- 27:07Speaker 3: and Jase ends up killing the demon, but it caused
- 27:11Speaker 3: him to freak out too much to where the heavenly
- 27:14Speaker 3: fire and his body begins to lash out and he
- 27:17Speaker 3: comes and circled by this you know holy fire thing
- 27:22Speaker 3: is like well, no one's able to get him to
- 27:25Speaker 3: bring it under control until Clary. She has one of
- 27:28Speaker 3: those moments of like it sounds kind of like an epiphany.
- 27:31Speaker 3: It's when her own unique ability kicks in because she
- 27:34Speaker 3: has the ability to create new rooms, and in this
- 27:37Speaker 3: desperate moment trying to help Jace, he sees an image
- 27:40Speaker 3: of a new room appear, and she approaches Jace. She
- 27:44Speaker 3: actually like walks through the fire and doesn't It doesn't
- 27:46Speaker 3: hurt her because she's not Egle. And she takes Jace
- 27:52Speaker 3: and she pulls out her sword and she marks the
- 27:55Speaker 3: sword with the new room. And when she does this,
- 27:58Speaker 3: the sword draws all all of the heavenly fire from
- 28:01Speaker 3: Jason's body and then from the circle around him into
- 28:04Speaker 3: the sword. So now the heavenly fire is being is
- 28:09Speaker 3: sealed in her in her family sword hails FROs mm hmm.
- 28:15Speaker 3: So now they have they now have an effective weapon
- 28:18Speaker 3: that can tip, that can kill Sebastian, because before their
- 28:22Speaker 3: plan was to try to like get Jase to fight,
- 28:24Speaker 3: to fight Sebastian and basically get the Heavenly Fire to
- 28:29Speaker 3: react and lash and lash out of Sebastian again. But
- 28:32Speaker 3: that's not a like a sure fire thing, because well
- 28:36Speaker 3: Sebastian could just run away. So they need something that
- 28:40Speaker 3: can you know, that they can direct and they can
- 28:43Speaker 3: direct the Heavenly Fire through and well now they have it.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Going back to UH, going back to our our dimension
- 28:55Speaker 3: UH Shadow the Shadow World, the downworlders are beginning to
- 29:00Speaker 3: fracture and beginning to begin to become more divided because
- 29:05Speaker 3: since their representatives and the Clave had all been kidnapped,
- 29:09Speaker 3: they're now left feeling they're afraid, they're scared, and they
- 29:15Speaker 3: feel defenseless because the and Darkened have also begun attacking them.
- 29:20Speaker 3: The Darkened destroyed the The Darkened had attacked and completely
- 29:29Speaker 3: wiped out the Prater Lupas, which was the organization that
- 29:33Speaker 3: watches out for young young Downholders, So like new vampires
- 29:38Speaker 3: and were wolves and were you know, young warlocks and
- 29:43Speaker 3: were out in the streets and don't have full control
- 29:46Speaker 3: over their abilities. Trader Lupus would step in and often
- 29:49Speaker 3: take them in teach them how to teach them how
- 29:52Speaker 3: to live with their abilities and make sure that they
- 29:55Speaker 3: can become, you know, beneficial members of society, and also
- 29:58Speaker 3: keep the existence of the down world a secret and
- 30:02Speaker 3: also keep them from unnecessarily harming Mundanes. So Sebastian had
- 30:10Speaker 3: attacked the Praeter Lupus and he had killed Jordan. Jordan
- 30:14Speaker 3: was this werewolf that had a path. Jordan was a
- 30:17Speaker 3: were wolf that had turned another were wolf named Maya.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I haven't really mentioned these characters. They haven't been of
- 30:23Speaker 3: a more They haven't been of a more of a
- 30:25Speaker 3: story in the earlier books, but their presence in this books,
- 30:30Speaker 3: in this book specifically was more pronounced like the thing
- 30:35Speaker 3: is the thing with Maya and Jordan. They kind of
- 30:38Speaker 3: Maya really hated Jordan because Jordan when he first was
- 30:41Speaker 3: turned into a were wolf, he ended up attacking locer
- 30:44Speaker 3: control and attacking Maya, turning her into a were wolf.
- 30:48Speaker 3: And they used to be a couple but then they
- 30:50Speaker 3: but then their relationship completely just went down the toilet
- 30:55Speaker 3: because of the werewolf incident. And then when they finally
- 30:58Speaker 3: meet up with each other, Jordan wants to make amends
- 31:00Speaker 3: and make things right because what happened was you know
- 31:04Speaker 3: entirely his fault, and they do reconcile to a degree.
- 31:08Speaker 3: But things Jordan wants to wanted to get back together
- 31:11Speaker 3: with Maya. Maya was on the fence back. She didn't
- 31:13Speaker 3: want to be back together with him because she felt
- 31:15Speaker 3: like he was just using her as like some form
- 31:17Speaker 3: of like redemption arc right, and so it was kind
- 31:23Speaker 3: of rocky, but she but Indian Sebastian kills Jordan and
- 31:29Speaker 3: he spares Maya in order so she could spread the
- 31:33Speaker 3: word of the Darkin's actions. And and the thing is
- 31:38Speaker 3: that because because Luke is no longer, Lucas is currently
- 31:43Speaker 3: a hostage of Sebastian and temporary leadership that was that
- 31:48Speaker 3: was placed over the New York Pack has been eradicated.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Uh Now, where the New York Pack has begun, it's
- 31:56Speaker 3: beginning to fracture, and and several werewolves began trying to
- 32:01Speaker 3: establish their own dominance over the pack. And you know,
- 32:06Speaker 3: of course, some of them feel that because of Luke's
- 32:09Speaker 3: former history with the shadow Hunters, they think that he's
- 32:12Speaker 3: more loyal to them than he is to the pack.
- 32:16Speaker 3: So Luke's second in command a guy and put the
- 32:19Speaker 3: werewolf name that challenges the challenges the dissenters and they
- 32:25Speaker 3: begin to fight. He almost loses, but Maya ends up
- 32:29Speaker 3: stepping in and she defeats the dissenters, and well, she's
- 32:34Speaker 3: now She's now the leader of the werewolf of the
- 32:39Speaker 3: New York Pack, so okay, cool, she's the alpha now.
- 32:44Speaker 3: She decides that if the best way to protect the
- 32:48Speaker 3: downworlders is that especially the werewolves, is that they need
- 32:51Speaker 3: to make an alliance with the vampires. That's something that's
- 32:54Speaker 3: typically done, considering how werewolves vampires are like cats and dogs,
- 32:58Speaker 3: literal cats and ducks with each other. Yeah, she approaches
- 33:03Speaker 3: the vampires. The thing is, though, the vampires are being
- 33:05Speaker 3: led by this sadistic younger vampire named Maureen. Little backstory
- 33:12Speaker 3: Maureen was Maureen was turned by another vampire named Camille
- 33:19Speaker 3: to fuck with Sebastian Sebastian Simon because Simon had lost
- 33:25Speaker 3: control of his thirst and he had fed on and
- 33:27Speaker 3: nearly killed Maureen. And the thing is is that the
- 33:32Speaker 3: way to And then Camille stepped in and like she
- 33:36Speaker 3: made it seem like Maureen died to try to like
- 33:39Speaker 3: unsettle Simon, and then she turned Maureen into a vampire.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Maureen later kills Camille and takes over the leadership of
- 33:49Speaker 3: the vampire coven. But and so now she's kind of
- 33:53Speaker 3: ruling the vampire of the New York Uh, she's kind
- 33:57Speaker 3: of uh, she's kind of ruling the vampire covin as
- 34:03Speaker 3: like she's very unhinged. She's not doing a good job,
- 34:06Speaker 3: and a lot of the other vampires don't like her.
- 34:09Speaker 3: But you know, they have a clear chain of command
- 34:12Speaker 3: and since she, uh, since she killed the last leader,
- 34:15Speaker 3: she's in charge, and they can't exactly legally go uh
- 34:23Speaker 3: legally ah dethrown her. Yeah, so they were just they
- 34:31Speaker 3: are the vampires. I mean, they're gonna they're just they're
- 34:33Speaker 3: gonna do what she says. But they're they're biding their time.
- 34:36Speaker 3: When Maya approaches Marine, the thing is, marine Is is
- 34:42Speaker 3: immediately like, no, I'd rather just eat you and tries
- 34:45Speaker 3: and she tries to kill Maya and starts drinking Maya's blood.
- 34:50Speaker 3: The thing is, Maya had prepared had kind of anticipated this,
- 34:55Speaker 3: so before meeting up with the vampires, she had drunk
- 34:58Speaker 3: a bunch of holy water, so holy water was coursing
- 35:02Speaker 3: through her veins. So when Maureene bites her and starts
- 35:05Speaker 3: drinking her blood. She gets a good dosage of holy water,
- 35:08Speaker 3: and she melts like we're talking. We're talking the Wicked
- 35:15Speaker 3: Witch of the West kind of melt like seeing you. So,
- 35:23Speaker 3: now that marine's out of the way, her second in command, Lily,
- 35:27Speaker 3: takes her place and agrees to the and immediately agrees
- 35:31Speaker 3: to the alliance with the werewolves. She's like, Okay, now
- 35:33Speaker 3: that nastiness is out of the way, let's let's talk alliance.
- 35:37Speaker 3: All right, Gods, we got this. We're gonna We're gonna
- 35:39Speaker 3: work with werewolves here. You know, the and dark And
- 35:42Speaker 3: are threatening everybody. And it's about this time that the
- 35:47Speaker 3: Darkened had begun their attack on Idris. And the thing
- 35:52Speaker 3: is that they are the shadow Hunters are completely are
- 35:55Speaker 3: being completely overwhelmed by the and Darkened, And the thing
- 35:58Speaker 3: is the and dark And are also being ACKed by
- 36:00Speaker 3: the Fay. So this is now at this point, they
- 36:03Speaker 3: now know that, like for one hundred percent sure that
- 36:06Speaker 3: the Sealy Queen is as sided with the and Darkened,
- 36:11Speaker 3: and her soul entered troops are attacking and killing shadow
- 36:14Speaker 3: Hunters in Alcante. The thing is is that they had
- 36:17Speaker 3: a bit of a warning. So this was when they
- 36:20Speaker 3: set up fay traps all over the city, so iron traps,
- 36:24Speaker 3: and they start using iron weapons. And while this does
- 36:27Speaker 3: help to keep the fairies at bay, they're still being
- 36:30Speaker 3: overwhelmed and it seemed like they're all about to get
- 36:33Speaker 3: wiped out and the dark and are not gonna They're
- 36:35Speaker 3: not going to they weren't going to spare anybody. They
- 36:39Speaker 3: were going to completely eradicate the shadow Hunters. Yeah, going
- 36:45Speaker 3: back to the going back to eatam Clary, Jace, Simon, Isabelle,
- 36:51Speaker 3: and Alec They finally reached Sebastian's fortress and h Simon, Isabelle,
- 36:59Speaker 3: and alec A head off deeper into the into the
- 37:03Speaker 3: fortress to try to free the hostages they find. They
- 37:06Speaker 3: find them, and they also find that while they're for
- 37:08Speaker 3: the most part okay, they notice that Magnus seems to
- 37:13Speaker 3: be very sick, like he's almost like he's getting like
- 37:17Speaker 3: he's like dealing with some kind of an infection or something,
- 37:20Speaker 3: even though he's not wounded. They learned later it's because
- 37:23Speaker 3: since they're in the realm of Asmodius, Asmodius is uh
- 37:28Speaker 3: deliberately making ah Magnus sick. The reason why he's doing
- 37:35Speaker 3: this is because Asmodius is, magnusis demon father. Oh yeah,
- 37:43Speaker 3: so the thing is to think about Magnus he is
- 37:46Speaker 3: a warlock, and warlocks are half demon half humans. Think
- 37:50Speaker 3: about Magnus particularly is that he's more than just a
- 37:53Speaker 3: half demon. He's actually part half angel. He's half fallen Angel.
- 37:59Speaker 3: So he's still a warlock in the sense that he's
- 38:01Speaker 3: half demon, but because his father is an incredibly powerful
- 38:05Speaker 3: greater Demon, a fallen Angel at that he is technically
- 38:09Speaker 3: more related to the shadow Hunters. So there were several
- 38:13Speaker 3: times in the throughout the series where Magnets demonstrated a
- 38:17Speaker 3: deeper knowledge of shadow Hunter magic, and in some cases
- 38:22Speaker 3: he was actually able to activate certains. He was actually
- 38:26Speaker 3: able to use shadow Hunter gear like shadow Hunters use
- 38:30Speaker 3: special Adamis Stone as a light source, and only shadow
- 38:36Speaker 3: Hunters can activate it because since it's angel, its affiliation
- 38:41Speaker 3: is Angelic. Only shadow Hunters can activate it to turn
- 38:44Speaker 3: on and to get it to glow. Well, Magnus once
- 38:47Speaker 3: pulled one out and cause it to glow to turn on,
- 38:51Speaker 3: and that was like a huge hint that he's part
- 38:54Speaker 3: angel fallen angel at there at least, so Magnetics blames
- 39:00Speaker 3: to them that the reason why he's Si. The reason
- 39:02Speaker 3: why as Modus is doing that is because he's as
- 39:05Speaker 3: Modius is trying to get Magnus to call on him
- 39:09Speaker 3: because as Modius wants to like, wants to fuck around
- 39:13Speaker 3: a lot, especially with his own kid. He get his
- 39:17Speaker 3: kid to rely on him and his power. So going
- 39:23Speaker 3: back to Clary and Jace, they immediately they had to
- 39:27Speaker 3: confront Sebastian. And the thing about Sebastian is that he
- 39:31Speaker 3: offers them. He offers them a strange deal. Like, of course,
- 39:35Speaker 3: he wants Jace to like join him again, but he
- 39:37Speaker 3: particularly wants Clary to join him and rule with him
- 39:42Speaker 3: in Hell. And if he does this, he agrees that
- 39:45Speaker 3: he will seal the gates between the demon dimensions and
- 39:49Speaker 3: Earth permanently, basically making it to where Earth will now
- 39:53Speaker 3: be free of all of demon kind, and of course
- 39:56Speaker 3: like and of course set her her family and friends free. Now,
- 40:00Speaker 3: Clarie is internally screaming and revolted by this because for
- 40:04Speaker 3: some reason, Sebastian has this weird fixation on her in
- 40:09Speaker 3: a Jamie Lanister kind of way. Oh no, but she
- 40:13Speaker 3: agrees and go and and goes to Sebastian and like
- 40:20Speaker 3: she tries she kind of I'll give clariy this. She
- 40:22Speaker 3: really sells it in this part. She like embraces him
- 40:27Speaker 3: kind of like get a little too you know, close
- 40:30Speaker 3: with her brother. And this does cause Sebastian to uh
- 40:39Speaker 3: Laura's guard and when he puts her puts his own
- 40:42Speaker 3: arms around her. Ah, she immediately pulls out her short
- 40:47Speaker 3: sword and stabs him. Yeah, girl, she stabs him. And well,
- 40:53Speaker 3: as soon as she stabs him, the Heavenly fire sealed
- 40:56Speaker 3: within the UH heals for us me UH immediately bursts
- 41:03Speaker 3: out of the out of the blade and completely fries Sebastian.
- 41:07Speaker 3: The thing is, though it does not kill him immediately,
- 41:11Speaker 3: but what it does is that the Heavenly Fire burns
- 41:14Speaker 3: all of the demon blood out of his body, completely
- 41:18Speaker 3: burns it out of him, and it reverts him back
- 41:23Speaker 3: into Jonathan Morgenstern. Now you might be wondering what does
- 41:26Speaker 3: that mean. Well, it means that it turned him back
- 41:30Speaker 3: more or less into his shadow hunter form. What's what
- 41:35Speaker 3: Jonathan should have been if if his father had not used,
- 41:40Speaker 3: uh not experimented on him with demon blood. Now, the
- 41:44Speaker 3: thing is is that because the demon blood was so
- 41:47Speaker 3: integrated into his into his DNA. The process of being
- 41:53Speaker 3: of it being burned from his body actually leaves him
- 41:55Speaker 3: so weak that he dies. But in a few moments
- 42:00Speaker 3: before he dies, Jonathan does change. He becomes less, you know,
- 42:07Speaker 3: like his eyes become less sadistic. And as it turns out,
- 42:12Speaker 3: they change color too, because before he he had the
- 42:16Speaker 3: same eye color as his father, Balancine, because Valancine was
- 42:19Speaker 3: described as having like very platinum blonde hair or like
- 42:23Speaker 3: platinum or nearly white hair and dark eyes, and Sebastian
- 42:28Speaker 3: had the same appearance. He looked he looked just like
- 42:30Speaker 3: his dad, very pale platinum hair and h and dark eyes.
- 42:37Speaker 3: But in Sebastian's case, his eyes look so so dark,
- 42:40Speaker 3: they were almost soulless, right, They practically look sole as
- 42:45Speaker 3: they were in the eyes of you know, of a psychopath.
- 42:48Speaker 3: But when the heavenly fire burnt through Sebastian and then
- 42:52Speaker 3: after there they do their job, after it does its
- 42:55Speaker 3: work and the fire dissipates, you look, they look at Jonathan.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Then they see his eyes and they're a bright blue
- 43:03Speaker 3: like his mother's. And the thing is is that because
- 43:08Speaker 3: of because the fire burned the demon part of him out,
- 43:13Speaker 3: the demon parts out of him. He's actually now more himself,
- 43:20Speaker 3: like who he was supposed to be, a shadow Hunter
- 43:23Speaker 3: and because like I guess you could say, like the
- 43:27Speaker 3: demon blood was suppressing the empathy, the more empathetic parts
- 43:33Speaker 3: of him, like were completely blocked it and you know,
- 43:38Speaker 3: kept him from ever feeling remorse for his actions and
- 43:41Speaker 3: things like that. Like I guess you could say there
- 43:42Speaker 3: were two parts of Sebastian that were always there, you know,
- 43:45Speaker 3: the demon influenced part and then the shadow hunter part.
- 43:49Speaker 3: And the shadow hunter part was always there, but it
- 43:52Speaker 3: was never in control. But now that the demon part
- 43:55Speaker 3: is gone, he's that part of him was able to
- 43:57Speaker 3: come out, and he actually expressed remorse for what he did,
- 44:01Speaker 3: what he had done, and his mom Like it's at
- 44:05Speaker 3: that point, Like, uh, it's at that point the uh
- 44:10Speaker 3: Alec Isabelle and Simon they come, they find Jason Clary
- 44:13Speaker 3: with Sebastian and they have the hostages with them. Uh.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Jocelyn approaches Jonathan and she actually holds him for a bit,
- 44:21Speaker 3: and like she doesn't really cry over him as he
- 44:23Speaker 3: dies because she's long since marked the death of her son.
- 44:27Speaker 3: There's a bit of a like kind of like a
- 44:29Speaker 3: touching moment because you know, it's she's his mother, and
- 44:32Speaker 3: she actually sees gets to see Jonathan as the son
- 44:35Speaker 3: he should have been, you know, before he dies. But
- 44:40Speaker 3: before he dies, Jonathan tells Jace where the Infernal Cup
- 44:45Speaker 3: is hidden and tells him that he needs to destroy it.
- 44:48Speaker 3: And he tells him that as soon as he destroys
- 44:50Speaker 3: the Cup, the and Darken will die, that will be defeated.
- 44:53Speaker 3: So Jace finds the Infernal Cup and immediately destroys it
- 44:57Speaker 3: and all of the Darken instant die. They just dropped dead.
- 45:05Speaker 3: So the Darken that were with Sebastian and eat them,
- 45:08Speaker 3: they immediately die. The the end Darken that were attacking Idris,
- 45:14Speaker 3: they die. And it was kind of funny because when
- 45:16Speaker 3: they all started dropping dead, the Faye that we're still fighting,
- 45:20Speaker 3: that we're fighting with them stop and they're looking around
- 45:23Speaker 3: seeing their allies dead and they're just like, oh shit.
- 45:25Speaker 3: And then the shadow Hunters immediately strike back and slaughtered
- 45:29Speaker 3: every Fay they kept they come across. Uh oh some
- 45:34Speaker 3: of them escape but yeah, and some were taken were
- 45:38Speaker 3: taken into custody, but yeah, the Fay are fucked. Yeah, yep,
- 45:49Speaker 3: so this book so think so now the heroes and
- 45:54Speaker 3: eat them. They're like, whoa, okay, we want yay, how
- 45:58Speaker 3: do we get out of here now? And the thing
- 46:02Speaker 3: is that they're not going to be able to make
- 46:04Speaker 3: it back to the gate leading back into the Fay
- 46:08Speaker 3: world because one thing, it's going to be nearly impossible
- 46:12Speaker 3: to find, and they're not going to be able to
- 46:15Speaker 3: make it, especially with Magnus, because Magnus is getting weaker.
- 46:21Speaker 3: So while trying to figure it out, Magnus decides, like,
- 46:23Speaker 3: all right, he's gonna have to call him. So Magnus
- 46:30Speaker 3: decides to call on as Modius, his father. As Modius appears,
- 46:35Speaker 3: and as Modius is surprisingly like looks just like almost
- 46:40Speaker 3: exactly like his son. There's definite similarities between the two.
- 46:43Speaker 3: They even have the same cat eyes. And as Modius
- 46:49Speaker 3: makes a deal, comes up with a deal like a proposition.
- 46:53Speaker 3: He'll get them all back, he'll send them all back
- 46:57Speaker 3: to Earth if Magnus gives up his immortality and power,
- 47:03Speaker 3: so Magnus will be just basically human. And Magnus was
- 47:07Speaker 3: gonna agree, and Alec was like conflicted, but he was,
- 47:11Speaker 3: but he didn't want Magnus to give up his immortality
- 47:15Speaker 3: like that, that's a very crucial part of him, you know,
- 47:18Speaker 3: without his magic, he you know, it's part of him
- 47:21Speaker 3: that he'll never be able to use again. But Simon
- 47:25Speaker 3: steps forward and says no, then actually surprises everybody by
- 47:29Speaker 3: stepping forward and says, if you want immortality, then take mine.
- 47:33Speaker 3: I'm a vampire, and Asmodious actually gets intrigued by this.
- 47:36Speaker 3: He's like a vampire and a day and a day walker.
- 47:41Speaker 3: That actually sweetens the deal. Okay, like, all right, I'll
- 47:47Speaker 3: give you by all righty, I'll uh, I'll take all sudden,
- 47:53Speaker 3: I'll take the deal. But there's one more thing. There's
- 47:57Speaker 3: one more thing I want in order to make this
- 48:00Speaker 3: more fit this deal, more to sweeten the deal. If
- 48:05Speaker 3: he takes Simon's immortality, basically turning Simon back into a
- 48:10Speaker 3: normal human, He's going to take Simon's memories of the
- 48:13Speaker 3: Shadow of the of the Downward, so basically all of
- 48:17Speaker 3: his memories of his time as a downworlder of Idris,
- 48:22Speaker 3: pretty much everything from book one forward, but it goes further.
- 48:25Speaker 3: He's also going to basically be wiping out his memory
- 48:28Speaker 3: of Clary. So those two have been friends since they
- 48:32Speaker 3: were kids, have been best friends since they were kids,
- 48:36Speaker 3: and Clary is immediately against it, but Simon tells her
- 48:40Speaker 3: it's gonna be okay. It's better hit bad, hits better
- 48:43Speaker 3: this way because he was never really meant to be
- 48:45Speaker 3: a part of the down world. And the thing is
- 48:48Speaker 3: is that Isabelle is also really pissed because she's like,
- 48:51Speaker 3: because the two of them have actually been going there,
- 48:55Speaker 3: they've actually formed a really strong relationship because before, like
- 48:59Speaker 3: Isabelle kind of kind of jumped his bones in a
- 49:02Speaker 3: more like physical way, like they started a relationship for
- 49:06Speaker 3: just purely physical, but she actually developed she caught the
- 49:09Speaker 3: fields for Simon. Oh my god, let me tell you something.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Isabelle is a ten. Simon's is solid seven six. Maybe
- 49:18Speaker 3: he's a dork, skinny dork, right, Like he's that dorky,
- 49:23Speaker 3: gangly teenager. And you got Isabelle, who is this beautiful
- 49:28Speaker 3: young woman and a shattle hunter at that. So she's
- 49:31Speaker 3: kick ass and she could probably kick your ass while
- 49:33Speaker 3: wearing high heels. Two she is queen, so yeah, it's like, yeah,
- 49:40Speaker 3: but she caught the feels for that for our little dork,
- 49:43Speaker 3: and now she's gonna lose him. But Magnus kind of
- 49:48Speaker 3: hints to them that there's a way around this. It's
- 49:51Speaker 3: gonna be okay, there's a way around this. So Simon
- 49:55Speaker 3: agrees to the deal as Modius takes his memories and
- 49:58Speaker 3: is immortality and since them all back to Earth. So
- 50:02Speaker 3: back on Earth, the shadow Hunters begin the process of rebuilding.
- 50:06Speaker 3: The clave began really discussing, uh, begin the really begin
- 50:12Speaker 3: the debate and full of recruiting Mundane, recruiting Mundanes to
- 50:17Speaker 3: become shadow Hunters because now that they have the Mortal
- 50:20Speaker 3: Cup again, they can make more shadow Hunters. But it's
- 50:23Speaker 3: a very dangerous process because not every person is going
- 50:25Speaker 3: to survive becoming a shadow Hunter. So they have to
- 50:28Speaker 3: be very cautious and they got to be careful and
- 50:31Speaker 3: very nitpicky. And as it turns out, Magnus was brought
- 50:38Speaker 3: with had a hand. And the cool thing is is
- 50:40Speaker 3: Magnus has a hand and recruiting. He's like, all right, cool,
- 50:44Speaker 3: I have just the person we can that we can
- 50:46Speaker 3: do a test trial on the now Mundane Simon. Yeah,
- 50:54Speaker 3: so there's a loop. There's always one thing you gotta
- 50:56Speaker 3: remember when it comes to making, when it comes to
- 50:58Speaker 3: deals and contracts, there's always a loophole. Yeah, yep. So
- 51:04Speaker 3: the reason why Simon's memories were taken away by Asmodius
- 51:09Speaker 3: is because he's basically taking away the part of him
- 51:12Speaker 3: that was a downworlder. And well, because he took the
- 51:14Speaker 3: part of him that was a downworlder, took away his
- 51:18Speaker 3: memories of the downworld. So that was the catch, right,
- 51:24Speaker 3: So what if Simon became a Downwolder again or Downwolder
- 51:27Speaker 3: adjacent shadow hunter. Yeah, So the end of the book,
- 51:33Speaker 3: Simon is approached and approached by Isabelle and Magnus and
- 51:38Speaker 3: then they convinced him to drink from the Mortal Cup
- 51:43Speaker 3: to be and he becomes a shadow hunter, and he
- 51:45Speaker 3: actually starts getting some of his memories back. Now, they
- 51:47Speaker 3: don't all come back, but some of them do get unlocked,
- 51:51Speaker 3: especially his memories of Clary. Claire was particularly depressed because
- 51:55Speaker 3: she just lost her best friend and she and Jace
- 52:02Speaker 3: are now, but before she learns that Simon is basically
- 52:06Speaker 3: being the old Simon basically comes back. Her relationship with
- 52:11Speaker 3: Jace begins to grow because, like now that they're fine,
- 52:14Speaker 3: they were before throughout the book they were together, but
- 52:16Speaker 3: they couldn't be you know, together, and mainly because of
- 52:22Speaker 3: the Heavenly Fire. Uh still trapped in Jace's body. But
- 52:26Speaker 3: now they got no obstacles preventing them from being together.
- 52:30Speaker 3: They're exploring the relationship and becoming stronger as a couple.
- 52:34Speaker 3: They're Joscelyn. Uh. Joscelyn and Luke finally tie the knot,
- 52:40Speaker 3: and the book actually ends during their wedding, and it's
- 52:46Speaker 3: at her. It's at Jocelyn's wedding that Simon shows up
- 52:50Speaker 3: with Isabella and Magnus and Clary. She's she's ecstatic to
- 52:54Speaker 3: see him, and that's when she learns that his memories
- 52:57Speaker 3: have come back somewhat because of his conversion into to
- 53:01Speaker 3: a shadow hunter.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Mm hmm, so woo.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Simon's extradow hunter now and he gets his and he
- 53:06Speaker 3: gets some of his memories back. Later, it is hinted
- 53:09Speaker 3: later on in sequel series that he still doesn't have
- 53:14Speaker 3: all of his memories back. There's still some that just
- 53:17Speaker 3: have this never came back. But still he's more or
- 53:21Speaker 3: less the same person, and he now remembers Clary for
- 53:23Speaker 3: the most part. Their child, their share, their shared childhood,
- 53:27Speaker 3: their friendship and everything. Simon and Isabelle start a very
- 53:31Speaker 3: strong relationship. UH. Magnus and Alec their relationship was still
- 53:37Speaker 3: somewhat on the rocks at first, but and they know
- 53:42Speaker 3: they acknowledged that their relationship has ended, but they acknowledge
- 53:49Speaker 3: that they're that they still have really strong feelings for
- 53:51Speaker 3: each other and get back together. It's like, WHOA, So
- 53:58Speaker 3: that is going to be it for the Mortal Instrument series.
- 54:01Speaker 3: This series ends with Jocelyn and Luke getting married, and
- 54:06Speaker 3: it's later on in the series that we learned that
- 54:08Speaker 3: they have a kid together, like believe Clary has a
- 54:12Speaker 3: little sister. Now I have to don't quote me on that.
- 54:16Speaker 3: I have to double check the last series. The last
- 54:19Speaker 3: sequel I read was The Dark Artifices. Yeah, and uh
- 54:26Speaker 3: there was another sequel series and it was I never
- 54:30Speaker 3: got around to reading it. Mainly at that point was like,
- 54:34Speaker 3: since the Mortal Instruments, the world of the Mortal Instruments
- 54:38Speaker 3: is still like tailored for younger, younger readers, teens, young adults.
- 54:44Speaker 3: It's not something that I really care to read anymore.
- 54:46Speaker 3: I read these books when I was when I myself
- 54:49Speaker 3: was a young adult, and I enjoyed it then. And
- 54:52Speaker 3: I reread this this series several times and uh, it
- 54:57Speaker 3: was enjoyable. But going back and reviewing the series. Again,
- 55:02Speaker 3: I was like, you know, I guess I really leveled
- 55:05Speaker 3: up as a reader, because you know, this kind of
- 55:07Speaker 3: story just doesn't do it for me anymore. And I'm
- 55:11Speaker 3: gonna and I kind of blame the Wheel of Time
- 55:14Speaker 3: because it seems like after I read The Wheel of Time,
- 55:16Speaker 3: I'm I'm craving more in depth stories, something that really
- 55:21Speaker 3: like takes you out of this reality into something like
- 55:24Speaker 3: completely unrecognizable and just go deeper into all these like
- 55:29Speaker 3: different kinds of lore. So I'm I mean, I'm here
- 55:33Speaker 3: for it. I'm here for that kind of stuff. I
- 55:36Speaker 3: still like The Mortal Instruments as a series, and if
- 55:40Speaker 3: you're a young reader, definitely read it. And you haven't
- 55:42Speaker 3: read this series, definitely read it and read the sequel
- 55:45Speaker 3: series and even the prequel when you get the chance.
- 55:47Speaker 3: I personally couldn't didn't run on the time when the
- 55:50Speaker 3: prequels came out, I was already like getting to that
- 55:52Speaker 3: point where I like, a young adult books aren't aren't
- 55:55Speaker 3: for me anymore. I mean, I still read burd Talk
- 55:59Speaker 3: and that's still but in mertzt Augus is still tailored
- 56:02Speaker 3: for young adults, but still they're good reads. I definitely
- 56:07Speaker 3: recommend them, and even if you're if you're if you're
- 56:11Speaker 3: an older orbiture reader and you still but you still
- 56:13Speaker 3: enjoy those kind of books. Don't read it. It's good
- 56:15Speaker 3: read and of course just read something.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Read read read.
- 56:24Speaker 3: So thank you guys for tuning in with us for
- 56:30Speaker 3: the Mortal Instruments. Yes we are. At the time we're
- 56:36Speaker 3: this recording, we're going to be taking a bit of
- 56:38Speaker 3: a hiatus, just like a couple of weeks.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Because but because somebody decide, oh my god, I am
- 56:47Speaker 1: going to take the trip, take a trip to New
- 56:49Speaker 1: York City. Oh I'm jealous.
- 56:57Speaker 3: So of course, by the time this videos were by
- 57:01Speaker 3: the time this episode is gonna be posted, I'm probably
- 57:04Speaker 3: gonna already be back and I'm I'm moving back from
- 57:07Speaker 3: the trip. It's be posted weeks after my actual prep r.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, so I'm actually we were just so this
- 57:16Speaker 3: whole series took place mostly in New York City, and
- 57:18Speaker 3: now I'm going to New York City.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Oh, how funny, How funny that we've spoke down to existence.
- 57:27Speaker 3: I did difference, but the.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Only difference is I'm not there, So you know, it
- 57:31Speaker 1: doesn't really matter because I'm not there. So whatever, it's fine.
- 57:36Speaker 1: I'm not jealous. Okay, I'm jealous.
- 57:38Speaker 3: I'm really jealous. But whatever, Fine, it's fine.
- 57:42Speaker 1: It's not fine, but it's fine.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Like you live, it's fine, you'll live.
- 57:50Speaker 1: I'll live. I'll go to New York at some point
- 57:52Speaker 1: in some point in my life. I'm going to Colorado.
- 57:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say, aren't you going to Colorado?
- 57:58Speaker 1: Yeah? Then Alaska at some point. But yes, for the
- 58:04Speaker 1: next two weeks, we're gonna be doing by the time this,
- 58:07Speaker 1: I mean, by the time this comes out all and
- 58:08Speaker 1: going to see a GAP's just gonna be go to
- 58:10Speaker 1: the next episode, we're gonna be doing some two more bucks.
- 58:15Speaker 1: And then when June comes around, huh m hmmm.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Gonna be got you. We got you for Pride, even
- 58:26Speaker 3: though Trump fuck that dude, like basically did away with
- 58:29Speaker 3: all those like uh with like you know, black history,
- 58:33Speaker 3: Hispanic history, women's history, and even like like Pride he's
- 58:38Speaker 3: trying to like get rid of, like oh, we no
- 58:39Speaker 3: longer nationally recognize these months, Like we're still going to
- 58:44Speaker 3: celebrate pride. June is for pride, Like that's orange cheeto period. Right,
- 58:51Speaker 3: all right, We're not you ain't gonna stop us, all right,
- 58:55Speaker 3: I don't know, he's not. We're still gonna We're still
- 58:58Speaker 3: gonna celebrate pride, all right, And for Pride we're gonna
- 59:02Speaker 3: be doing We're gonna be doing another series by t J. Kloone,
- 59:06Speaker 3: Uh yeah, one of his earlier works. The funny thing
- 59:11Speaker 3: is about this series that we're gonna review is that
- 59:16Speaker 3: it's he did not write this series to be like,
- 59:19Speaker 3: to be serious. He wanted to take a break from
- 59:22Speaker 3: the more serious novels he wrote. I mean, I mean,
- 59:26Speaker 3: all of his books tend to be light hearted and
- 59:31Speaker 3: uh fun to read, but they can have like get
- 59:35Speaker 3: into the fields very deeply, and they do tackle certain
- 59:38Speaker 3: like issues and you know, especially concerning like you know, relationships,
- 59:43Speaker 3: mental health and just over well overall well being and
- 59:48Speaker 3: family found family, things like that. And so he wanted
- 59:51Speaker 3: to write something different that was completely not serious. So
- 59:54Speaker 3: we're gonna be reviewing his series Tales of the Tales
- 59:57Speaker 3: of Her Tales from Varinia, And I love the series.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: When I read it, I thought it was gonna be
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: something like almost like on a similar level of the
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Wolf Creek novel the Wolf Song novels, or like Bear
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Untern Kid. But then I started reading this and I'm like,
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: it's a serious it's ridiculous. This book is ridiculous. And
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: I was cracking up the entire these books. I was
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: cracking up the entire time. All Right, you know, we
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: got a we got a wizard who can't, a wizard
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: apprentice who can't, who can barely control his magic. We
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: have a gay, hornless unicorn, and we also have an
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: over overly sexualized dragon named Kevin.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Who's dating said unicorn, who talks about his sexual adventures
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: with said unicorn a lot.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Yeah, this, I'm gonna be honest. It's smut, but it's
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: it's hilarious.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: It's because it's good entertaining smut.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh god, were we get to those next two
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: episodes we're gonna be doing. We're actually reviewing a horror
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: series that we've been reading. Well, I've read, I've been
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: reading them. Devin has passing on to.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: It yet I'm gotten to you, but I play on it.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: But you know, it's a it's a horror series that
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: we've both been eyeing for a while without realizing we've
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: both been doing it until one of those pointed out.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: And oh my god, yeah, I actually got the first
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: book like over a year ago, but it took me
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: like a year to actually read it because at the
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: time I was still reading The Wheel of Time, and
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: then I had a bunch of other books I was reading,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: and until finally I was like, oh, this has been
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: sitting on my shelf for a year already. I got
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: this for Christmas twenty twenty three, and now it's Christmas
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: twenty twenty four and I haven't read it yet. So
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: first book. The next book we're going to read together
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: is Paradise one by David Wellington, and it's a good story.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: It's got hell at dead Space vibes, but without the
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: meted zombie creatures at least not the first book. And
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: then we'll also be reviewing the second book by David Wellington.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: It just it literally just came out a few months ago,
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: called Revenant X.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: So those are the next two books we're gonna read.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: We might review a couple more books before we get
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: to uh, well wait, are we just going to go straight?
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I'm sorry, we're oh no, yeah, it's just these two
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: and then we're going straight in details.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, we're gonna do that. Cool, that's what we're
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: in it. Yeah, but that's so then by
