- 0:03Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Brian Anderson joining us, the Milwaukee Brewers play-by-play man for
- 0:08Speaker 2: a long time and does an exceptional job on playoffs
- 0:11Speaker 2: and other sports too. B.A., great to see you, man.
- 0:14Speaker 2: We've been looking forward to talking to you. How fun
- 0:17Speaker 2: was October?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Oh, it's the greatest experience of my career. Mostly the
- 0:25Speaker 1: first part of it, I had to work. So it
- 0:27Speaker 1: was a normal October. But then the last part was
- 0:30Speaker 1: the part that I'm going to remember forever when I
- 0:34Speaker 1: could just be a fan. So I bought tickets, bought
- 0:38Speaker 1: a parking pass. We tailgated, had my family up, my wife, daughter,
- 0:43Speaker 1: her fiance, my dad. They were all in town, had
- 0:47Speaker 1: some nieces, nephews. It was really cool, man. It was
- 0:52Speaker 1: cool to be out there and be in the parking
- 0:56Speaker 1: lots and tailgate. and sit in the 200 section. I
- 1:00Speaker 1: had a blast. It was one of the coolest experiences
- 1:04Speaker 1: of my life. And I don't get to do that
- 1:07Speaker 1: very often, so that's crazy that we don't get to.
- 1:10Speaker 1: We should all experience the games as fans more often,
- 1:13Speaker 1: I would say, after that. I had never done it
- 1:15Speaker 1: in 20 years as a Brewer employee. I'd never been
- 1:19Speaker 1: in the seats. You just don't go to games when
- 1:22Speaker 1: you're not on the air. You go home and be
- 1:26Speaker 1: a normal person.
- 1:28Speaker 3: So basically you lost money after you were done working
- 1:31Speaker 3: because everybody was, was on BA's dime. But what was
- 1:35Speaker 3: that experience like? What did you see that you didn't
- 1:38Speaker 3: expect to see as a fan enjoying the entire process?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah, here's a Kratzy. You'll know this cause you, you know,
- 1:46Speaker 1: Milwaukee well and you, you love it. AJ called that
- 1:49Speaker 1: series with the Padres. So you guys all got to
- 1:53Speaker 1: be in it in different levels. And, um, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 1: it's just a, it's a special place, man. Milwaukee is
- 1:58Speaker 1: a special place and I love it there. I'm from Texas,
- 2:02Speaker 1: native Texan. Um, but when I got the brewer's job
- 2:06Speaker 1: in 2007, I was opened up to a whole new
- 2:09Speaker 1: world and, um, and I would never leave Wisconsin. I
- 2:14Speaker 1: love the place. And, um, even if I didn't work
- 2:16Speaker 1: for the brewers, I would stay in Wisconsin. So just
- 2:19Speaker 1: to kind of be in the middle of the fandom
- 2:22Speaker 1: and what struck me, and I've been to a lot
- 2:23Speaker 1: of Packers games and, tailgated with Packers fans and have
- 2:27Speaker 1: become a Packers fan myself. So, you know, I've experienced
- 2:31Speaker 1: the tailgating part of it. Grew up tailgating in Texas,
- 2:36Speaker 1: you know, the Friday Night Lights and then obviously the
- 2:39Speaker 1: University of Texas College Football Saturdays. But there's nothing like
- 2:44Speaker 1: the Brewers tailgating experience. And the thing that really struck
- 2:49Speaker 1: out to me or struck me was there was a
- 2:52Speaker 1: group of Tampa Bay Rays employees and fans pretty close
- 2:56Speaker 1: to us and some of the scouts you guys would
- 2:58Speaker 1: know a couple of those guys but you know they
- 3:01Speaker 1: were there they had already turned in their advance they
- 3:03Speaker 1: weren't on the brewer series so they were just there
- 3:05Speaker 1: having a good time and just how gracious the fans
- 3:08Speaker 1: were with that group of Tampa Bay Rays cluster there's
- 3:12Speaker 1: probably 20 people in that group and you know there
- 3:16Speaker 1: was no animosity it was all love they're inviting that
- 3:20Speaker 1: group over for brats and you know throwing them beers
- 3:25Speaker 1: and like, Hey man, welcome to the party. And that's
- 3:27Speaker 1: what warmed my heart more than anything to see people
- 3:32Speaker 1: from different walks of life. Now it may have been
- 3:34Speaker 1: different if you to walk through there in a Cubs uniform, but,
- 3:37Speaker 1: but for the Rays employees, you know, they felt right
- 3:39Speaker 1: at home. There were a ton of like local anchors,
- 3:43Speaker 1: you know, news anchors, sports anchors from Tampa that was there.
- 3:47Speaker 1: And I think everybody just welcomed them in and like
- 3:50Speaker 1: they're feeding them and giving them drinks, and I love
- 3:53Speaker 1: that part. That was the coolest thing for me to see,
- 3:56Speaker 1: the hospitality.
- 3:58Speaker 4: B.A., I mean, obviously I got to do the Brewers-Pontre
- 4:01Speaker 4: series for Fox. You're on TBS. How much were you watching?
- 4:05Speaker 4: Were you paying attention? Was your game happening and you
- 4:07Speaker 4: were watching on your iPad? Were you scoreboard watching? And also,
- 4:12Speaker 4: I want to know, If you were scoreboard watching, why
- 4:16Speaker 4: didn't you let Frenchy get a word in if you
- 4:17Speaker 4: were scoreboard watching?
- 4:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Frenchy.
- 4:20Speaker 4: He wouldn't even let me get a word in.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yeah, right. You know there's no truth in that, man.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I'm a pass-first play-by-play announcer with Frenchy and Ronnie. They
- 4:32Speaker 1: take it all up, which is better. That's better. I was.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So it's very simple for me. I know this is
- 4:38Speaker 1: a very foreign– concept for fans, but when we're working,
- 4:46Speaker 1: we aren't fans. Even when I'm doing a Brewers series,
- 4:50Speaker 1: which I've done through the years and had it last
- 4:53Speaker 1: year when they got swept by the Dodgers, but you're
- 4:57Speaker 1: on the assembly line. When you're doing television, you're going
- 5:00Speaker 1: inning to inning, half inning to half inning, next batter,
- 5:03Speaker 1: next out, next element, next graphic. It's very much in
- 5:08Speaker 1: the moment, focused on the next thing that you're doing
- 5:12Speaker 1: and you're, you're not thinking about being a fan or
- 5:15Speaker 1: any of that. But as soon as that broadcast is over,
- 5:18Speaker 1: of course, I've worked for the Brewers for 20 years.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I know all the personalities. I know all the people.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm part of the staff there and, and I want
- 5:26Speaker 1: them to have success. And so, yes, the, the second
- 5:29Speaker 1: we were off the air, uh, I wasn't scoreboard watching
- 5:33Speaker 1: inside the games. A lot of, there wasn't a lot of, um, of, uh, uh,
- 5:38Speaker 1: of carry over there, but, Yeah, when the games ended,
- 5:42Speaker 1: we were all dialed in. My stats guy, Dominic Catronio,
- 5:45Speaker 1: who's fantastic and a future big league announcer in his
- 5:48Speaker 1: own right, he's with me all year in Milwaukee. So
- 5:52Speaker 1: he was the guy I was asking what's the score,
- 5:54Speaker 1: who's doing what. He would give me updates. And then
- 5:58Speaker 1: after the games, and we had a couple of tape
- 6:00Speaker 1: operators and a guy that is our producer, Brent Reeland,
- 6:04Speaker 1: who works in the back of our truck for the postseason,
- 6:08Speaker 1: So we had a nice little Milwaukee contingency there for
- 6:11Speaker 1: all the non-TBS game time when we were able to
- 6:15Speaker 1: follow the Brew crew.
- 6:17Speaker 4: B.A., you mentioned you were in Milwaukee at the games.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Did you go to Tampa at all? Because I was
- 6:21Speaker 4: in Tampa for Games 3 and Game 4, and I
- 6:24Speaker 4: tweeted this and I said this. I've never seen a
- 6:27Speaker 4: team travel to an away city. And I know they
- 6:29Speaker 4: were up 2-0, and then it got to 3-0, and
- 6:31Speaker 4: it got even worse. And then Game 5, I think,
- 6:33Speaker 4: was even more. connected so much so well with the
- 6:40Speaker 4: milwaukee brewers fans because again i don't know if you
- 6:44Speaker 4: were in tampa but i saw levering and i talked
- 6:46Speaker 4: to the radio guys in tampa and they were just
- 6:48Speaker 4: like this is incredible everywhere i went i stayed down
- 6:51Speaker 4: in st pete it was all brewers fans they drank
- 6:54Speaker 4: all the beer they drank st pete out of beer
- 6:56Speaker 4: so what is it about this team that the brewers
- 6:58Speaker 4: fans just connected with to a point where they had
- 7:01Speaker 4: to go to tampa to see him play Well.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Your opinion would be the expert opinion on that because
- 7:06Speaker 1: I had not attended a World Series in my life
- 7:08Speaker 1: until game one when I went as a fan. So
- 7:11Speaker 1: you played in them. You've been a part of that ecosystem.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I have not. I've been to division series, championship series scenarios.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I've never seen a road following. So I was not
- 7:23Speaker 1: in Tampa. I had spent enough time in Tampa at
- 7:27Speaker 1: the old Don Cesar Hotel, which is awesome, by the way.
- 7:31Speaker 1: doing the division series and the championship series. So I
- 7:35Speaker 1: did not travel. I honestly wanted to just be home
- 7:38Speaker 1: with my family and again, be a fan, but you know,
- 7:42Speaker 1: from all accounts and those who do this every year,
- 7:45Speaker 1: our colleagues at MLB and those who are in the, in,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you know, the MLB world series wheel everybody. And like
- 7:53Speaker 1: yourself said, they've never experienced that. So it sounded that
- 7:57Speaker 1: way on television, you know, watching the Fox broadcasted definitely.
- 8:01Speaker 1: And I was texting with Smoltz a little bit that,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you know, it was, it, it, it sounded like a
- 8:07Speaker 1: Brewers home game and he agreed. And, and that was
- 8:10Speaker 1: not the case in the division series and the championship series.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And actually my scouting report, cause I was talking to
- 8:17Speaker 1: Murph and, um, had some conversations with Matt Arnold and
- 8:21Speaker 1: some of the field staff about what to expect in
- 8:24Speaker 1: the world series. Um, And my experience in the first
- 8:28Speaker 1: two series against the Yankees and then against the Guardians
- 8:31Speaker 1: was an overwhelming Tampa Bay Rays crowd, which I've done
- 8:36Speaker 1: postseason series there in the past where they've tarped off
- 8:40Speaker 1: the upper decks. You know, I did a game there.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I did a playoff game in Tampa. I think it
- 8:44Speaker 1: was 13. There was like 19,000 people there. It wasn't great,
- 8:49Speaker 1: but it was different this year in Tampa Bay. So,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I thought that was going to be very much a
- 8:56Speaker 1: Tampa Bay crowd, kind of like it was for the
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yankees series, which I thought was probably 90-10 Rays when
- 9:02Speaker 1: we were thinking 50-50 Yankees-Rays was not the case for that.
- 9:07Speaker 1: To answer your question, though, about the Brewers, the long
- 9:10Speaker 1: time coming, the Midwest sports scene, this team really resonated,
- 9:15Speaker 1: the way they played. It's a different kind of game.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I believe they were, and the Rays were similar on
- 9:20Speaker 1: the trend of a new style, which is an old
- 9:23Speaker 1: style of game, which I hope we get back to.
- 9:26Speaker 1: So I just think they fell in love with this team.
- 9:28Speaker 1: They got so close last year, the heartbreak of going
- 9:31Speaker 1: to a championship series, getting swept by the Dodgers. And,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you know, just there is this David and Goliath factor
- 9:38Speaker 1: with payroll discrepancy, even though on the field, the Brewers
- 9:42Speaker 1: were clearly the best team and were kind of trending
- 9:44Speaker 1: that way throughout the year. I just think the weight,
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know, and having never won a championship. And the
- 9:52Speaker 1: Packers have Super Bowls, 14 NFL titles. Four of those
- 9:56Speaker 1: are actual Super Bowls. The Bucs had won an NBA
- 9:59Speaker 1: championship in 21. But I'd always felt and said through
- 10:04Speaker 1: the years of my time as the Brewers announcer, if
- 10:07Speaker 1: the Milwaukee Brewers make it to the World Series and
- 10:10Speaker 1: win a World Series, there will be nothing like it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: It would be different and more impressive than the Packers'
- 10:18Speaker 1: different and more impressive than the Bucs and it was
- 10:22Speaker 1: and I just always felt like it's Milwaukee's team and
- 10:25Speaker 1: Wisconsin's baseball team and so that's why I just think
- 10:29Speaker 1: it was like the parade was crazy I'm sure you
- 10:31Speaker 1: guys have talked about it covered it I've I've never
- 10:35Speaker 1: experienced anything like that and I was with the Spurs
- 10:38Speaker 1: for four years for their first four championships I was
- 10:40Speaker 1: with them eight but for their first five championships I
- 10:44Speaker 1: worked for the Spurs And I saw those parades and
- 10:48Speaker 1: those championship parades. And man, that, that was crazy. What
- 10:52Speaker 1: we saw last Friday in Milwaukee. I've never seen anything
- 10:55Speaker 1: like that. The population is 600,000. There were 750,000 people,
- 11:00Speaker 1: probably more actually. Uh, the Summerfest grounds, there was 15,000
- 11:05Speaker 1: seats in that amphitheater, but the grounds hold 50,000 and
- 11:10Speaker 1: there wasn't an inch anywhere. You couldn't move in that town. And, um,
- 11:16Speaker 1: It was very emotional to see the fans respond that
- 11:21Speaker 1: way and have this group of players deliver a championship
- 11:25Speaker 1: to these fans. So, yeah, it was really special, man.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Really special.
- 11:30Speaker 3: That's cool that you got to emcee that and you
- 11:32Speaker 3: got to be a part of that with the fans.
- 11:34Speaker 3: But you also got to be a part of the
- 11:36Speaker 3: Rays series leading up to this. Did you think the
- 11:39Speaker 3: Rays would have put up a little bit more of
- 11:40Speaker 3: a fight after what you saw in the division and
- 11:44Speaker 3: championship series?
- 11:47Speaker 1: Well, yeah. I mean, the, the fight was, um, it's
- 11:50Speaker 1: five games, but honestly, other than, uh, game three, um,
- 11:56Speaker 1: every game could have gone either way. I mean, and
- 11:58Speaker 1: the Brewers play games like that all the time as
- 12:00Speaker 1: do the Rays. So I figured it would be a
- 12:02Speaker 1: low scoring, closely contested game. Uh, the Rays could have
- 12:06Speaker 1: easily flipped game one. If Tampa Bay, I was so
- 12:09Speaker 1: impressed with them through the division series, through the championship
- 12:13Speaker 1: series against Cleveland. Um, And then we had them a
- 12:17Speaker 1: few times at the end of the regular season too.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I love their roster. Uh, I love cash. They're very
- 12:23Speaker 1: similar to the Brewers and their DNA. Obviously, you know,
- 12:27Speaker 1: Eric Neander, Matt Arnold are great friends. Matt Arnold worked
- 12:30Speaker 1: for the Rays. There's a lot of the same culture, DNA, perspective, philosophy.
- 12:37Speaker 1: So it felt like I was watching the Brewers, uh,
- 12:40Speaker 1: when I started following the Rays and had them as
- 12:44Speaker 1: my series. Um, So I thought there was a fight, Kratzy, honestly.
- 12:49Speaker 1: It did end in five. They only won the one game,
- 12:52Speaker 1: but every game was, there were these turning points that
- 12:56Speaker 1: could have gone either way. And honestly, I was there
- 12:59Speaker 1: as a fan in game one, as I mentioned, and
- 13:02Speaker 1: from my perspective, if the Rays flipped that game, which
- 13:06Speaker 1: they had a chance, and the Brewers had all this rest,
- 13:10Speaker 1: had all their guys lined up, the Miz fully ready
- 13:14Speaker 1: in the bullpen, if they flip that game, it's a
- 13:17Speaker 1: totally different story. I think like the Brewers winning game one,
- 13:22Speaker 1: and then, you know, obviously the comeback in game two,
- 13:25Speaker 1: they're down four, nothing. The Brewers were able to come
- 13:27Speaker 1: back and win. That was significant. But the fact that
- 13:30Speaker 1: the Rays were right on the doorstep in game one,
- 13:33Speaker 1: I think they had what multiple based runners in the
- 13:36Speaker 1: last three or four innings tying or go ahead runners.
- 13:39Speaker 1: So if they, if they do that and they beat
- 13:41Speaker 1: the a bullpen and they, They do what the Brewers
- 13:44Speaker 1: did to Mason Miller and the Padres. Totally different series
- 13:47Speaker 1: at that point. So I don't think the Rays were
- 13:50Speaker 1: that far away from actually winning a World Series, certainly
- 13:55Speaker 1: making it a six- or seven-game World Series.
- 13:59Speaker 3: All right, so what's ahead? This is not the time
- 14:02Speaker 3: of year, lockout or no lockout, that the Brewers ever
- 14:05Speaker 3: make these moves. They hang around the edge. They wait
- 14:07Speaker 3: for somebody who didn't accept the qualifying offer and didn't
- 14:12Speaker 3: get a contract. What is next ahead for them? And
- 14:17Speaker 3: is it just going to be status quo for them?
- 14:21Speaker 1: That is a great question. And you've been a part
- 14:24Speaker 1: of this culture, so you know, and certainly I understand
- 14:28Speaker 1: what is normally the protocol here. And I'm not sure
- 14:32Speaker 1: it's going to go that way. So I'm very interested
- 14:34Speaker 1: to see if the first little shot across the bow
- 14:37Speaker 1: was they picked up Contreras' qualifying offer, which... they normally
- 14:43Speaker 1: don't do things like that, the Brewers. So that was
- 14:47Speaker 1: interesting to me. And the lockout cloud that's kind of
- 14:52Speaker 1: hanging over might affect how they do things or some
- 14:57Speaker 1: of their planning maybe because I do think players, it'd
- 14:59Speaker 1: be imperative for players to sign deals if there were
- 15:03Speaker 1: deals offered. But, you know, I'm not sure. I do
- 15:08Speaker 1: think Mark Adonacio is going to, you got to run
- 15:11Speaker 1: it back, don't you? I mean, that would be my
- 15:14Speaker 1: question for you guys because you're in it in a
- 15:17Speaker 1: deeper way. I'm so deep in the forest, it's hard
- 15:19Speaker 1: for me to see it clearly. But if you're Mark Adonacio,
- 15:22Speaker 1: you're Matt Arnold, you've got to try to run this back.
- 15:25Speaker 1: You've got all this talent. And where the Brewers have
- 15:30Speaker 1: traded Freddy Peralta and Corbin Burns and Josh Hader and
- 15:34Speaker 1: a ton of other players, you don't really need to
- 15:37Speaker 1: go that way at this point. Now, you can pick
- 15:40Speaker 1: up some players... on the periphery maybe. So I'm very
- 15:45Speaker 1: interested to see what happens with Bowers. I'm interested to
- 15:47Speaker 1: see about McGill. And they've obviously made their play on Contreras. But, man,
- 15:54Speaker 1: that's a tough pill. If you operate as you have
- 15:58Speaker 1: operated to get to the point to win a World Series, well,
- 16:01Speaker 1: you're there. And you have all this young talent. And
- 16:05Speaker 1: all these 22-, 23-year-old guys and the Miz– who have
- 16:10Speaker 1: now experienced and won a World Series. I mean, that's
- 16:12Speaker 1: some serious rubber on the road. So to me, you
- 16:17Speaker 1: almost got to expand a little bit and try to
- 16:21Speaker 1: ride this out as long as you can. But who
- 16:23Speaker 1: am I? I mean, I'm not paying the bills either,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and they've had a good formula to get there. But boy,
- 16:31Speaker 1: that would be really tough to start to empty out
- 16:33Speaker 1: some of the chambers on guys who were real pieces
- 16:37Speaker 1: in a World Series run. So We'll see how they
- 16:40Speaker 1: do it. I can't wait to find out. I think
- 16:42Speaker 1: the labor issue is going to disrupt that line of
- 16:47Speaker 1: thinking and where they go from here. But if we
- 16:50Speaker 1: could get into a normal scenario, I'd be very interested
- 16:53Speaker 1: to see what they do. And I think they will
- 16:58Speaker 1: put some cards down and try to keep some players
- 17:00Speaker 1: and retain players and give it a go next year
- 17:05Speaker 1: as well.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you. I mean, I know the Brewers
- 17:08Speaker 2: are looked at as a team that will trade guys
- 17:10Speaker 2: away sometimes when they've got a couple years left on
- 17:14Speaker 2: their deals. And I know Contreras and McGill are two
- 17:16Speaker 2: of those guys. But you've got to try and run
- 17:19Speaker 2: this back. Besides those two, and yes, Bowers will leave
- 17:22Speaker 2: if he doesn't take the qualifying offer. you're mostly going
- 17:25Speaker 2: to be able to run back the same crew and then,
- 17:27Speaker 2: Oh wait, you have a top five farm system in
- 17:29Speaker 2: the game, including the best prospect in baseball and Jesus Monday.
- 17:32Speaker 2: So the point is, I mean, I said this, I
- 17:33Speaker 2: know it's early, but I think they could be in
- 17:35Speaker 2: a dynasty range. They've already got to me, the playoff
- 17:38Speaker 2: part of it. Then the world series title part got one.
- 17:41Speaker 2: You got to win at least, I would say two,
- 17:42Speaker 2: if not three, but they've got something special brewing there.
- 17:44Speaker 2: You know, that, uh, BA.
- 17:46Speaker 1: So appreciate the time dude. Cheese or cringe right now. You,
- 17:49Speaker 1: you can't be talking dynasty now. I mean, They just
- 17:52Speaker 1: want to see one more. Let's make one more run.
- 17:55Speaker 1: One more, and then you want one more. And it's
- 17:56Speaker 1: not just Marday. The system is loaded, loaded, every level.
- 18:03Speaker 1: They have an unbelievable minor league system. So, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: they took a lot of criticism when they didn't use
- 18:10Speaker 1: some of that inventory to go get Scooble. And, you know,
- 18:13Speaker 1: they were right. They were right on that one. So
- 18:15Speaker 1: we've got to give them credit for that. So we'll
- 18:17Speaker 1: see how they do it.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Us included. I was like, wait, Scooble's right there, and
- 18:22Speaker 2: the Tigers like the Dodgers package, and it did not matter.
- 18:25Speaker 1: So good for them.
- 18:26Speaker 2: They proved everyone wrong on that one. B.A., great to
- 18:29Speaker 2: have you on and loved hearing about the experience for you.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Thanks for having me. Being in the crowd with the
- 18:34Speaker 2: fans is really cool. It was cool to see videos
- 18:36Speaker 2: of you guys out there, too, enjoying it with the
- 18:39Speaker 2: Brewers faithful. So thanks for joining us, man.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Good to see you. Great to be with you guys. Kratzy,
- 18:44Speaker 1: there's a classic car. waiting for you on the parade route.
- 18:49Speaker 1: So just know that. Thank you. I appreciate that. You
- 18:52Speaker 1: and Eric Thames could have been sitting right behind me, man.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I was looking for you. Was Thames in the parade?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Thames was in the parade and a star, as you
- 19:02Speaker 1: can imagine.
- 19:03Speaker 3: He didn't hit any homers.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Ryan Braun didn't hit any homers. I know. You know
- 19:08Speaker 1: how we are. You had the champagne bottle with your
- 19:11Speaker 1: name on it, too. Now that's cool. I hope you
- 19:13Speaker 1: got a picture of that. That's cool. I got a picture.
- 19:17Speaker 1: That's cool. I like that. We want all you guys back, man.
- 19:19Speaker 1: We want all you guys back. People love you there.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I'll see you at the alumni game. Yeah, you're part
- 19:25Speaker 1: of the fabric. Not the parade. I need you to
- 19:26Speaker 1: hit a tank in the alumni game, though. That is
- 19:28Speaker 1: going to be important. Randy Wolfe can't be the only
- 19:31Speaker 1: guy to hit homers in the alumni game. He's cheating.
- 19:35Speaker 1: He's cheating. He's 100% cheating. No, you can see it
- 19:40Speaker 1: with your eyes. There's no blood work going on at
- 19:43Speaker 1: the alumni game. Yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Well, BAS, Kratz will be there next year.
- 19:49Speaker 1: We're looking forward to it.
- 19:50Speaker 2: We'll have him training. So good to see you, man.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Enjoy the offseason. Great seeing you guys. All right. Thanks
- 19:55Speaker 1: for having me.
- 20:03Speaker 2: NLMVP will be announced next week. Newsflash, it's going to
- 20:07Speaker 2: be PCA. Here's where it opened at the start of
- 20:10Speaker 2: the season. Otani was minus 145 and rightfully so he'd
- 20:14Speaker 2: been racking MVPs. And if the game is stay healthy
- 20:17Speaker 2: and be kind of yourself, and then you win because
- 20:21Speaker 2: you're pitching and you're hitting. So the winner was, is
- 20:24Speaker 2: going to be P Crow Armstrong. He was plus 5,000
- 20:26Speaker 2: AJ and look at Terang. I mean, Terang finishes third
- 20:29Speaker 2: plus 15,000. So if you're looking at futures next year,
- 20:32Speaker 2: I mean, the name of the game often is, do
- 20:35Speaker 2: you think there's a guy that could emerge if someone
- 20:36Speaker 2: gets hurt?
- 20:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 20:38Speaker 2: That's what happens on the American League side with Judge.
- 20:40Speaker 2: That's what happens here on the National League side with
- 20:42Speaker 2: Otani ditching pitching.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, PCA just had a great year. Otani,
- 20:48Speaker 4: here's the thing. Otani, if he pitches and is healthy
- 20:50Speaker 4: and hits all year, he still might win it, even
- 20:52Speaker 4: with the unbelievable year that PCA had. So you just
- 20:55Speaker 4: got a timing right. PCA, I'm happy for him. He's
- 20:57Speaker 4: going to win this award. Bryce Serangis, he's getting recognition
- 21:01Speaker 4: for what he did this year and being a leader
- 21:03Speaker 4: on this team that won the World Series. Um, but yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 4: you have to try to guess who's, who's going to
- 21:09Speaker 4: be able to stay healthy and have a great year.
- 21:10Speaker 4: And then you just, you never want to hope anyone
- 21:12Speaker 4: gets hurt. But then if you're making bets, you got
- 21:14Speaker 4: to just say, man, I hope this guy has a
- 21:16Speaker 4: little bit of a down year and someone else can
- 21:18Speaker 4: kind of slide right in there. Like in the American
- 21:20Speaker 4: league and the national league this year, because again, if
- 21:22Speaker 4: judge is healthy, he wins. If Otani is healthy, they
- 21:24Speaker 4: win every year because no one can compete with what
- 21:26Speaker 4: those two guys do. They're special talents.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yes, they are.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I mean, Shohei's OPS plus was 143. It was 43%,
- 21:37Speaker 3: but that's just his hitting. And he was in the
- 21:40Speaker 3: running for Cy Young for a little bit. For a
- 21:42Speaker 3: little bit.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I get it.
- 21:43Speaker 3: But he's still such a joke. But what a season
- 21:47Speaker 3: PCA had.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Salud, AJ.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 21:53Speaker 2: AJ's allergic to Cubs winning awards. But we love PCA.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Hey, as long as they don't win the other thing.
- 22:00Speaker 2: PCA is an all-around player. He's a fun interview. He's
- 22:03Speaker 2: fun to watch. You love him or you hate him.
- 22:06Speaker 2: It's great to have him.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Okay.
