- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Cracking power play lost.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is the postgame show, brought to you by Toyota
- 0:06Speaker 2: of Olympia.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Now for an in depth look at your Kraken hockey.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's the post Game on the Global Credit Union Kraken
- 0:14Speaker 2: Audio Network.
- 0:17Speaker 1: For the final time.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Tonight, welcome back inside of Climate Plagarina alongside al Kiniski.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm ever it fits you.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Cracking fall four to two to the Anaheim Ducks. Here
- 0:27Speaker 3: tonight Anaheim winning their sixth in a row, Cracking after
- 0:30Speaker 3: a four game losing streak was snapped against the Islanders
- 0:36Speaker 3: on Wednesday night, and they're back in the lost column.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Here's tonight partner short ended goal for the Anaheim Ducks.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Power play goal for Anaheim as well in the second period.
- 0:44Speaker 3: They did miss the penalty shot, but tonight Anaheim, and
- 0:47Speaker 3: they jumped out early, they jumped out off and and
- 0:51Speaker 3: the Kraken were never really able to find their footing.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I kind of thought this was going to be
- 0:55Speaker 4: a bit of a goaltending standoff tonight. With Grooby coming
- 0:58Speaker 4: off of a good game against the Islanders for the win,
- 1:02Speaker 4: and obviously dost All doing the same, it kind of
- 1:04Speaker 4: felt like it was more about the offense and generating offenses.
- 1:07Speaker 4: The Ducks came out flying in the first period. They're
- 1:11Speaker 4: getting two goals, including another shorthanded goal, four of the
- 1:15Speaker 4: last five games. Again, this is really surprising me. There's
- 1:19Speaker 4: something going on there that is allowing teams to get
- 1:23Speaker 4: a certain read and cause a turnover that results in
- 1:26Speaker 4: a scoring chance that Seal has to figure out.
- 1:28Speaker 3: In the first period, Anaheim, you said it, they were flying.
- 1:32Speaker 3: They came out shooting the lights out. They got twenty
- 1:36Speaker 3: four shots combined. Anaheim did in their first forty minutes.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Where did you see the tide start to turn a
- 1:42Speaker 3: bit for Seattle? We talked a little bit about it.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Into that second period, definitely into the third, Cracking out
- 1:48Speaker 3: shooting Anaheim by a twelve seven margin. Was there a
- 1:52Speaker 3: turning point you feel the Cracking can maybe capitalize on
- 1:56Speaker 3: and hold on to going into Sunday against the Devils?
- 1:59Speaker 4: I mean probably the mccannal in the second period, you know,
- 2:02Speaker 4: breaking that zero up up there. Yeah, they hemmed them
- 2:04Speaker 4: up in the or that they stopped the bleeding so
- 2:06Speaker 4: to speak, in the second period, ending it to three
- 2:10Speaker 4: to three to one. So you were within reach at
- 2:12Speaker 4: that point and you felt like maybe you get to
- 2:14Speaker 4: get it done in the third period. And then in
- 2:16Speaker 4: the third period the Kracking did make a push. Yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 4: they outshot Anaheim twelve to seven in that third period,
- 2:23Speaker 4: got the goal by Shorts and got it within one.
- 2:26Speaker 4: But things just you know, they couldn't get over that
- 2:29Speaker 4: hump there in the third period. But early it was
- 2:31Speaker 4: the first half of the game that sat out to me.
- 2:34Speaker 4: It was less about maybe what the Crack or what
- 2:37Speaker 4: Anaheim was doing, less about more about what the Kracking
- 2:40Speaker 4: were not doing.
- 2:41Speaker 3: So as of right now, the Seattle Kracken fall two
- 2:45Speaker 3: points out of the wildcard spot, behind the San Jose
- 2:48Speaker 3: Sharks at fifty five points, Cracking with fifty three. Anaheim
- 2:52Speaker 3: now four clear for the third spot in the division,
- 2:56Speaker 3: Edmondson at fifty eight, and then the Vegas Golden Knights
- 2:59Speaker 3: at sixty. So Seattle with the Devil's coming in here.
- 3:02Speaker 3: They dropped a real tough one on the Rock last
- 3:06Speaker 3: week in New Jersey, and if you're the Seattle Crack
- 3:08Speaker 3: and I mean, you need to take the lessons that
- 3:10Speaker 3: you learned. You were tied one to one after the
- 3:13Speaker 3: first period in that game against New Jersey, ultimately falling
- 3:17Speaker 3: three to two. In overtime. But for Seattle, you have
- 3:21Speaker 3: to come back and win this game on Saturday afternoon. Yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 3: you gotta respond. So that's what you gotta do. You
- 3:26Speaker 3: gotta respond.
- 3:28Speaker 4: And you know, we've said a lot of the same
- 3:30Speaker 4: things after a lot of the post games as of late,
- 3:33Speaker 4: which is you got to figure out this start thing.
- 3:35Speaker 4: It's you know, I love the metaphor that Mike Benton
- 3:37Speaker 4: uses that this team is a trailer truck and once
- 3:39Speaker 4: they get going, no one could stop them. But you
- 3:41Speaker 4: don't see too many championship teams that are up of
- 3:46Speaker 4: that metaphor. Yeah, you've got you've got to come out
- 3:49Speaker 4: with with some jumps, some urgency, the word you use,
- 3:52Speaker 4: some intensity, and I think just too many times tonight
- 3:54Speaker 4: you didn't see that, certainly not in the first half
- 3:56Speaker 4: of the game.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask you this again.
- 3:58Speaker 3: We've asked Lane Lambert, I asked Jayden Schwartz the other day,
- 4:01Speaker 3: and I'll pose the same question to you. You've played
- 4:04Speaker 3: this game, you've been in these locker rooms before.
- 4:07Speaker 1: What is the key to a good start?
- 4:09Speaker 3: We say this all the time, the kracking need better starts.
- 4:12Speaker 3: How do you get better starts?
- 4:14Speaker 4: Well, I happened to have a list here, Oh, because well,
- 4:17Speaker 4: I thought about this a lot today and you know,
- 4:19Speaker 4: I want to talk about it in the in the
- 4:20Speaker 4: in the pre game today.
- 4:22Speaker 1: First shift, the very first shift of the game.
- 4:24Speaker 4: As a coach, you want to put out your line
- 4:26Speaker 4: that's going to get that momentum going. Intensity, physicality, being
- 4:30Speaker 4: relentless to the puck, winning puck battles, being first to
- 4:33Speaker 4: the puck. The first line has to do that, has
- 4:36Speaker 4: to set that bar. But then it's going to carry
- 4:38Speaker 4: on to the second, third, and fourth lines after that intensity,
- 4:41Speaker 4: continuing shots on goal, more physicality, winning, more puck battles,
- 4:46Speaker 4: maybe drawing a penalty. Over those first four shifts, goaltending,
- 4:50Speaker 4: pedestrian saves, you can see everything. Maybe there's a time
- 4:53Speaker 4: that you save in there too, But they're not stopping
- 4:55Speaker 4: breakaways in the first ten minutes of the first period,
- 4:58Speaker 4: first and second goals, especially on the road, taking the
- 5:00Speaker 4: crowd out of it, ending that first period up on
- 5:03Speaker 4: the scoreboard. To me, that's what the finds a good
- 5:05Speaker 4: start cracking.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Now, for the eighth time in the last nine games,
- 5:09Speaker 3: they've allowed the game's first goal, and for the sixth
- 5:12Speaker 3: time in their last seven outings Seattle. Facing either a
- 5:15Speaker 3: two to nothing or a two to one deficit, they
- 5:19Speaker 3: fall four two here tonight, al over to you for
- 5:21Speaker 3: your takeaways and your three stars.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Well key takeaways now brought to you by Mam mcay
- 5:24Speaker 4: for our first takeaway was that fourth shorthanded goal in
- 5:27Speaker 4: the last five games. Going down two to one or
- 5:29Speaker 4: two nothing after one, both not great ways to start
- 5:32Speaker 4: the game. On a bright note. To Jacob Lnson into
- 5:35Speaker 4: the game with ten hits, double digits in the hit
- 5:37Speaker 4: column for the Lobster Mobs to Grooby again, he had
- 5:42Speaker 4: a good game, a nine hundred save percentage, going twenty
- 5:45Speaker 4: seven of thirty dos. Stall was nine O nine twenty
- 5:48Speaker 4: of twenty two, so fairly even as far as the
- 5:51Speaker 4: goaltenders go on both ends of the ice. But the
- 5:54Speaker 4: last thing I wrote down here is late to pucks
- 5:57Speaker 4: missing too many fifty to fifty pucks along the a
- 5:59Speaker 4: on the wall. I think Anaheim was coming up with
- 6:01Speaker 4: it way too many times. Three Stars today brought to
- 6:04Speaker 4: you by Triple A of Washington. Third start was Jake
- 6:07Speaker 4: Jared McCann. He had a goal and three shots on
- 6:09Speaker 4: goal tonight. Second star goes to Jaden Schwortz he had
- 6:12Speaker 4: an assist or excuse me, he had a goal, a
- 6:14Speaker 4: goal in the third period on that great pass by
- 6:18Speaker 4: right as well as he was plus one. And the
- 6:20Speaker 4: first start to night goes to Cuttergotier. He had a goal,
- 6:23Speaker 4: one assist and seven shots on goal. Cracking fans, when
- 6:26Speaker 4: you're driving around on game day, you definitely want Triple

- 6:46Speaker 3: Seahawks play at three thirty krack and now we'll play
- 6:49Speaker 3: at noon. But for now we go across the street.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Mike Benton and Durson Hurst Andrewsons, we'll stand by to
- 6:56Speaker 3: take you the rest of the way.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Found us. Go ahead, guys, Thank you very much here
- 6:59Speaker 1: and unfortunately slow stars tripping up the Kraken once again
- 7:03Speaker 1: too much to overcome out of a two to nothing
- 7:05Speaker 1: hole here in the first period. As a cracking fall
- 7:08Speaker 1: two and one in the season series, and well, they
- 7:11Speaker 1: need wins here at this point, and they're trying to
- 7:13Speaker 1: recover here from a one and two start on this
- 7:15Speaker 1: home stand after Jared McCann nearly gets him out of
- 7:18Speaker 1: the hole with a rally, also Jayden Swarth chipping in,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but the Ducks pull away. Four to two is your
- 7:24Speaker 1: final score over the crack and from climbing Pledge arena.
- 7:27Speaker 1: But we have much more reaction here to come, so

- 10:32Speaker 1: game three of the homestand the Kraken trying to overcome
- 10:35Speaker 1: a slow start, unfortunately too much to overcome here for
- 10:38Speaker 1: this evening. They fall forward too to the Anaheim Ducks,
- 10:40Speaker 1: and they are now two to one over Anaheim as
- 10:43Speaker 1: far as the regular season series goes, and their sites
- 10:47Speaker 1: now set on a Sunday matinee affair early start time
- 10:52Speaker 1: at noon against New Jersey Devils as the Crack and
- 10:55Speaker 1: again trying to keep pace right now in a Western
- 10:58Speaker 1: Conference playoff race, picking up pace right now, falling two
- 11:02Speaker 1: points behind San Jose who controls the cut line at
- 11:05Speaker 1: second in the wildcard spot right now the Krack and
- 11:08Speaker 1: falling to twenty two nineteen and nine here on the
- 11:12Speaker 1: season Anaheim improving now to twenty seven to twenty one
- 11:16Speaker 1: and three. They have now won six games in a row.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Time now for the highlights of this Seattle Crack and
- 11:22Speaker 1: drive to the next scoring recap is brought to you
- 11:25Speaker 1: by Chevy Silverado bringing the tough stuff because with nine
- 11:28Speaker 1: trims and four available engines, Chevy Silverado was ready to
- 11:33Speaker 1: accept all challenges. Chevy Silverado your own personal power play.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It nearly began on different terms for the Kraken. Now
- 11:41Speaker 1: even eerstop point blank on the first shift of the game,
- 11:44Speaker 1: but then Anaheim came right back and got the first
- 11:47Speaker 1: one one oh two end of the contest. Cutter goat
- 11:49Speaker 1: Chase scoring a twenty third goal of the season to
- 11:52Speaker 1: lead the Ducks. Vl and Mintakov at the assist on
- 11:56Speaker 1: the play with the Kraken trailing one nothing on Anaheim's
- 11:59Speaker 1: first shot of the night. After that, Bill Grubert coming
- 12:03Speaker 1: through with a few more tough saves, but then also
- 12:05Speaker 1: the Kraken had their look on the power play. However,
- 12:09Speaker 1: with the Anaheim offering the penalty.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Kill, this one sent up the boards Ryan Paling left
- 12:15Speaker 3: side five delayed on done Paling suits he scores. For
- 12:21Speaker 3: the fourth time in the last six games, the Seattle
- 12:25Speaker 3: Kracket have allowed a shorthanded goal and they are down
- 12:29Speaker 3: two nothing four thirty six to.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Play the first and that was the seventh shorthanded goal
- 12:36Speaker 1: allowed overall this season. As the Kraken giving up the
- 12:39Speaker 1: first two goals of the night, dude to Anaheim's speed
- 12:42Speaker 1: and finding opportunities from the rush and Ryan Palin getting
- 12:46Speaker 1: right behind the pack for a shorthanded goal, his fourth
- 12:49Speaker 1: goal of the season, by the way, coming at fifteen
- 12:51Speaker 1: to twenty four. Ian Moore had the assists to make
- 12:54Speaker 1: it to nothing. Anaheim and the Kraken add some work
- 12:57Speaker 1: to do at the end of twenty minute, but then
- 13:00Speaker 1: Manny baniers Is line goes right to work. A little
- 13:04Speaker 1: over one minute into the second period.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Now Jackson McCombe, we'll take it away. Lost the buck
- 13:10Speaker 3: but here's back in Every down the slot.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Mccad stop.
- 13:20Speaker 10: A snipe from Jared mccad coming into the high slot
- 13:25Speaker 10: and the seattle cracking on the board two on eighteen
- 13:28Speaker 10: o five left in the second.
- 13:31Speaker 11: Quote right neutral zone turnover right at the Anaheim blue line.
- 13:35Speaker 11: Every gets stopped bucket to the cross finds McCann as
- 13:38Speaker 11: the trailer. Manny Peers goes hard to the net, trades
- 13:40Speaker 11: a little screen enough for mckenn to get that off
- 13:43Speaker 11: at beat Dostall blocker side under the bar to one.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Anaheim just what the doctor ordered for the crack in
- 13:50Speaker 1: as Jared McCann getting his twelveth goal of the season
- 13:52Speaker 1: one fifty five into period two and that got the
- 13:56Speaker 1: building alive. Jordan Eberley Manny Beaneers with the assist, and
- 14:00Speaker 1: by the way, Veniir's picking up his twentieth point and
- 14:02Speaker 1: fourteen lifetime games against the Ducks. Just something about that
- 14:07Speaker 1: Pacific Division rival that open the doors here even more
- 14:10Speaker 1: for Mounty Vaniers's game. But the crack and then going
- 14:13Speaker 1: down a man after Riker Evans was called for the
- 14:15Speaker 1: lay of game with the puck throwing over the glass
- 14:17Speaker 1: and then Chris Kreider burring a rebound four minutes into
- 14:21Speaker 1: period two put the Ducks on top three to one.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Power play Goald Courtesy Cutter Gotiate and Jackson Lacombe. Philip
- 14:28Speaker 1: Grubauer then put to the test, stopping a penalty shot
- 14:31Speaker 1: and the Kraken staying down within two by the end
- 14:35Speaker 1: of twenty minutes of play. Again, early in period three,
- 14:39Speaker 1: what does their effort have to offer? Right here with
- 14:42Speaker 1: Shane Wright helping lead the charge.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Shane Wright hopes it back to Evans inside of stracket territory.
- 14:48Speaker 3: He goes far side for LNTT fold Doc go to
- 14:51Speaker 3: right and hot.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Then Star.
- 15:01Speaker 7: Clucasto staff came out a long way to.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Play it at shit, Jamie Schwartz tap the puck home
- 15:09Speaker 1: to the open page, back it down a goal three
- 15:12Speaker 1: to two with eighteen to oh six to play at the.
- 15:15Speaker 12: Third well, it is Copa Coco that got.
- 15:17Speaker 4: The flu line.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Jaden Schwartz went hard to the back post.
- 15:21Speaker 11: Cocko's feats the puck a procise to write right fives.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Schwartz on that back door. It's a tippin three two
- 15:29Speaker 1: ana him. That was the work of art and Jayden
- 15:31Speaker 1: Schwartz certainly earned it getting right behind the defence and
- 15:34Speaker 1: converted the back door feed from Shane Wright. What a
- 15:36Speaker 1: past that was coming at one fifty four of period three,
- 15:40Speaker 1: right and Coppocco with the assist to help Jaden Schwartz
- 15:44Speaker 1: get out of a ten game goal scoring drought. Several
- 15:48Speaker 1: plays of Kraken using right toward the front of the
- 15:50Speaker 1: Duck's net, but Lucas Dostall standing tall, and then Pavel
- 15:53Speaker 1: Mintakov eventually capping out the scoring empty net goal at
- 15:57Speaker 1: eighteen forty eight his six on the year from Kyle
- 16:00Speaker 1: Granlin and Drew Hellison to make it forward to Anaheim
- 16:04Speaker 1: and that holding up as a final score. Final shots
- 16:07Speaker 1: out net for this one. Anaheim mount shot the Kraken
- 16:09Speaker 1: thirty one twenty three power plays. Wise, this also made
- 16:13Speaker 1: an impact, the Kraken coming up over to in the game,
- 16:16Speaker 1: the Ducks converting one up two, and arguably the goal
- 16:19Speaker 1: by Chris Kreider stunting momentum. The Krack and hat early
- 16:23Speaker 1: in the second period trying to rally out of that
- 16:25Speaker 1: two nothing hole is certainly made an impact here for
- 16:28Speaker 1: this game goaltenders Wise, Lucas Dostall picks up the win,
- 16:32Speaker 1: twenty one saves on twenty three shots, his record improving
- 16:37Speaker 1: now to eighteen twelve and two. Wasson goes to Philip Grubauer.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Despite his efforts and he was very strong facing a
- 16:44Speaker 1: ton of action, he turned in twenty seven saves on
- 16:47Speaker 1: thirty shots, his record now falling to ten to five
- 16:50Speaker 1: and three on the season. Time now for the course,
- 16:53Speaker 1: light jellous moments up the game, Cracking fans, You can

- 17:15Speaker 1: As Philow Grubauer staring down Jansen Harkins on this penalty shot,
- 17:21Speaker 1: Ducks ahead by a three to one score.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Harkins on the approach slowly down the left side to
- 17:28Speaker 3: the high spot out of the circle. Harkins on goal,

- 17:42Speaker 1: that got the bench up, That got the building up
- 17:44Speaker 1: once again, as Grewbauer stopping the second penalty shot he's
- 17:47Speaker 1: seen this season. He's two to two, by the way.
- 17:50Speaker 1: In that respect. It was also the ninth penalty shot
- 17:53Speaker 1: he's faced all time in his NHL career, and the
- 17:55Speaker 1: fifth one that he has also turned away. The Kraken
- 17:59Speaker 1: trying to build of that. Eventually they would with the
- 18:02Speaker 1: goal to Jayden Schwartz. Than after that Berkeley Catton earning
- 18:06Speaker 1: a ton of ice time and well deserved because of
- 18:09Speaker 1: plays like this.
- 18:10Speaker 3: I'll back to larsit up the middle, caton nice pass
- 18:13Speaker 3: and Stevens said, coming oh lost the butt.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Oh he had no storm.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Beats coming down the left side put on the brakes and.
- 18:22Speaker 13: The puck kept on going.
- 18:23Speaker 1: What a pre pass by Berkeley Catton.
- 18:25Speaker 10: Here's Adam Larsan right side bings it off.
- 18:29Speaker 3: The pipe and this one of Kren's out of play.
- 18:33Speaker 1: You can't get most closer than that and not score
- 18:35Speaker 1: a goal. But unfortunately it was that kind of night
- 18:37Speaker 1: here for the crack and as Berkeley Catton, you can
- 18:40Speaker 1: see the plays he was making, earning much more ice time,
- 18:43Speaker 1: much more confidence here under head coach Lane Lambert, and
- 18:46Speaker 1: yet a terrific pass that he's set up unfortunately Stone
- 18:49Speaker 1: Wall when Chandler Stevenson just lost the puck right toward
- 18:52Speaker 1: the front of the net. But yet we're seeing more
- 18:54Speaker 1: and more of what Berkeley Catton can do in his
- 18:56Speaker 1: nineteen year old now twenty year old season, as he
- 18:59Speaker 1: can take used to make strides for his offensive game
- 19:03Speaker 1: and certainly hurting much more ice time and much more
- 19:06Speaker 1: higher assignments, including a role on Chandler Stevenson's line. That
- 19:09Speaker 1: brings us here to the big win brought to you
- 19:11Speaker 1: by the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling, and we go
- 19:14Speaker 1: to Toronto where Mitch Marner and crew from the Golden Knights.

- 19:29Speaker 1: Off the Stonish Scars. I'm the d man Rush mark.
- 19:34Speaker 10: Stone with us night tape.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Tell me they did five to three. Call their courtesy.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Dave Gosher of the Vegas Golden Knights television side with
- 19:44Speaker 1: mark Stone getting two goals and an assist. Mitch Marner
- 19:48Speaker 1: didn't score though, but this team got the win this
- 19:50Speaker 1: evening six to three over the Leafs at Scotia Bank Arena.
- 19:54Speaker 1: By the way, Rasmus Anderson, a recent trade pick up
- 19:57Speaker 1: here from Calgary, got an assist in his Vegas debut.

- 23:43Speaker 21: You explain the way things started tonight compared to the
- 23:47Speaker 21: late push.
- 23:48Speaker 12: See you go a lot slower. Yeah, we didn't. We
- 23:51Speaker 12: had started.
- 23:51Speaker 22: I mean even the first two periods we were, in
- 23:55Speaker 22: my opinion, we were getting out battled. We were kind
- 23:58Speaker 22: of all over the place for real on our systems.
- 24:00Speaker 22: We were disconnected. They just kept coming out some wavescud.
- 24:04Speaker 22: We do a good job to keep us in it.
- 24:05Speaker 22: I mean, obviously the thirty make a push, but the
- 24:09Speaker 22: end of the day you're down too, and and uh,
- 24:12Speaker 22: you know, it's a tough lead to come back.
- 24:13Speaker 12: And we can't keep doing this to ourselves.
- 24:15Speaker 22: We you know, continuously have slow starts and then find
- 24:19Speaker 22: our way into games.
- 24:20Speaker 12: So and it's something we've addressed that we need to
- 24:24Speaker 12: address again.
- 24:25Speaker 21: You say your systems weren't always connected when you when
- 24:27Speaker 21: you're playing seventeen games, like I said, thirty one days.
- 24:30Speaker 21: How do you how do your safeguard against that kind
- 24:33Speaker 21: of stuff setting in because sometimes that's a sign of fatigue,
- 24:36Speaker 21: it's a sign of overuse fatigue.
- 24:39Speaker 22: We're I mean we're essentially play game rest back and forth.
- 24:43Speaker 22: I mean, obviously you're not getting a lot of practice time,
- 24:45Speaker 22: and but you know it's set me to day. I
- 24:47Speaker 22: think you know what we game fifty, it's it's Uh,
- 24:50Speaker 22: you know, we know our system. You should know it
- 24:51Speaker 22: in now.
- 24:52Speaker 12: There's no black and white or no gray area. It's
- 24:54Speaker 12: black and white.
- 24:56Speaker 19: You know.
- 24:56Speaker 22: I think at the end of the day, when we're
- 24:57Speaker 22: not moving our feet and we're not we're not skating
- 25:00Speaker 22: and we're not pushing the base and and uh you know,
- 25:03Speaker 22: we we we just they continuously come at us. So
- 25:06Speaker 22: you've had losing battles on top of that, and you
- 25:08Speaker 22: know it's just losing hockey. So you know, we know
- 25:10Speaker 22: the formula. We've done it multiple multiple times. I think
- 25:13Speaker 22: obviously this one's disappointing. You look at the standings, you
- 25:15Speaker 22: look at the importance of this and it's it's massively disappointing.
- 25:19Speaker 22: But you know, sometimes you know you need to, you know,
- 25:24Speaker 22: look in the mirror and go for video and push
- 25:26Speaker 22: from here.
- 25:26Speaker 12: We've done it all year.
- 25:27Speaker 22: We've we've had adversity, we've had massive adversity, We've had
- 25:30Speaker 22: big swings.
- 25:30Speaker 12: So you know, I'm I have faith in this group
- 25:34Speaker 12: for sure.
- 25:34Speaker 1: With the shorthanded goals in these pastrect of games, where
- 25:37Speaker 1: do you feel like the disconnected and the power play
- 25:39Speaker 1: when those keep happening.
- 25:40Speaker 22: Yeah, I mean that's majorly frustrating as well. I mean
- 25:43Speaker 22: we've we've also addressed that. I think you know, you
- 25:46Speaker 22: look at the type schools, it's not just one thing
- 25:48Speaker 22: it's happened. You know, different things are happening. I think,
- 25:51Speaker 22: you know, power play, I know you're not gonna score
- 25:53Speaker 22: every time. You gotta go great momentum when you're giving
- 25:55Speaker 22: up a shorty that's obviously you know, a death a
- 25:57Speaker 22: lot of the time. So now our powerplay, for the
- 26:00Speaker 22: most part of my opinion, has been a big part
- 26:03Speaker 22: of where we're at. You know, we've we've had a
- 26:05Speaker 22: lot of success. I think the biggest thing is understand
- 26:08Speaker 22: the importance of teams, especially them. I know they've scored
- 26:11Speaker 22: many short and of goals this year, and you know,
- 26:13Speaker 22: we have to find a way to you know, you know,
- 26:15Speaker 22: find a way to create momentum fire group instead of
- 26:17Speaker 22: you know, losing especially like that.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Well the words will tell you no excuse is as cracking.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Captain Jordan Eberley as the cracking trying to rebound from

- 36:11Speaker 1: this evening as they fall forward two to the Anaheim
- 36:13Speaker 1: Ducks and I minutally what was one of the bigger
- 36:15Speaker 1: games of the year, if not so far the biggest
- 36:18Speaker 1: game of the year, unfortunately, as a crack and fall
- 36:20Speaker 1: two points out of the cut line here in the
- 36:23Speaker 1: Western Conference. But this period now, for the rest of
- 36:26Speaker 1: the entire evening, will be dedicated to your reaction, folks.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Again here on talk and cracking. No matter what, win, lose, rainshine,
- 36:33Speaker 1: you name it, We're here for you right now. As
- 36:35Speaker 1: a crack and fall forward two to Anaheim. We are
- 36:36Speaker 1: live back at Tom's watch bar, Mike Benton Andrews Hurst
- 36:40Speaker 1: again cracking fans. The ice may be cold, but the
- 36:42Speaker 1: energy and Tom's watch bar is electric. Just steps from
- 36:45Speaker 1: climbing Pledgerina Tom's watch bar, all the sports, all the time,
- 36:51Speaker 1: Let's get to it here, Andrews. Is one of those
- 36:55Speaker 1: nights where I kind of sit back and think, you
- 36:58Speaker 1: just can't wait to hear the reaction from Lane Lambert
- 37:01Speaker 1: after this one. And I look at it here from
- 37:04Speaker 1: this perspective, you come in with the biggest game of
- 37:07Speaker 1: the year. Players who have played in these games before
- 37:10Speaker 1: know the kind of magnitude it is when you get
- 37:12Speaker 1: this deep into the season, nearly two thirds of the
- 37:15Speaker 1: way in the points become much more crucial. You heard
- 37:18Speaker 1: the word playoffs over and over several months back, and
- 37:21Speaker 1: when you go down to nothing giving up a shorthanded
- 37:24Speaker 1: goal once again, there is only one word I think
- 37:26Speaker 1: to crystallize this, and it is disappointment.
- 37:29Speaker 24: Yeah, unfortunately, Mike is just two teams going in opposite directions,
- 37:32Speaker 24: and not just for this year. It seems like the
- 37:35Speaker 24: trajectory overall as well. The Anaheim Ducks are getting our
- 37:39Speaker 24: young team that's getting better and better and better, and
- 37:42Speaker 24: even with three borderline four top six forwards out tonight,
- 37:47Speaker 24: they looked like the much better team for the overwhelmingly
- 37:50Speaker 24: majority of this game, and it's unfortunate based on the situation,
- 37:54Speaker 24: the Kraken could have tied them in points with the
- 37:56Speaker 24: game at hand. Lane Lambert can't be happy with his
- 37:59Speaker 24: team's performance, especially in the first forty minutes in this game.
- 38:03Speaker 24: It's been a trend lately with this team to kind
- 38:06Speaker 24: of come out of the gates pretty slow, but then
- 38:07Speaker 24: they more often than not have been able to climb
- 38:10Speaker 24: out of it and sometimes get some big comeback wins.
- 38:13Speaker 24: It just was too much to overcome tonight and something
- 38:17Speaker 24: has to change pretty quickly again. Four nine four or
- 38:19Speaker 24: five one Texas. Right now, we're gonna get to plenty
- 38:21Speaker 24: of reaction on the Tacoma Dodge text line again four nine,
- 38:24Speaker 24: four or five one Tacoma Dodge Chrysler g ran by
- 38:27Speaker 24: the corner of thirty eighth and sound Tacoma Away. The
- 38:29Speaker 24: intersection of savings.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I think when you look under the hood of this,
- 38:33Speaker 1: it's not just the fact that you came out slow
- 38:35Speaker 1: down to nothing, but as you said, a shorthanded goal
- 38:38Speaker 1: was in the mix. It's it's kind of becoming alarming. Now.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Fourth time now in the last five games, seven shorthanded
- 38:46Speaker 1: goals allowed as well, I'm talking about shorthanded goals allowed
- 38:49Speaker 1: in that period, but they have become more and more
- 38:52Speaker 1: habitual back in period one, where and again it just
- 38:55Speaker 1: underlines the slow starts that this team needs to correct s.
- 39:00Speaker 24: A yeah, and you know, you know, there's a lot
- 39:03Speaker 24: of stats that can you could take out a context
- 39:05Speaker 24: and a lot of you know, media members and analysts,
- 39:09Speaker 24: you know, take one stat and say, oh that that
- 39:11Speaker 24: means this team isn't focused, or that means this team,
- 39:15Speaker 24: uh needs to be better at this. There they don't
- 39:17Speaker 24: start the game, well, uh, they're they're not mentally tough.
- 39:20Speaker 24: But when you add up all the things of poor starts,
- 39:24Speaker 24: shorthanded goals, uh you know, kind of waiting for comeback victories,
- 39:29Speaker 24: mental mistakes a lot of the time. You look at
- 39:32Speaker 24: that first goal that they scored in the first two
- 39:34Speaker 24: minutes of this game. I mean, Vince Dune and Adam
- 39:37Speaker 24: Larson go off for a change, but then it's just
- 39:39Speaker 24: a slow stroll to the to the benches and they
- 39:42Speaker 24: have to come back out. And that's why Vince Dun's
- 39:44Speaker 24: flat footed uh for cuttergotiates exactly and then that it
- 39:48Speaker 24: probably should be saved by Philip Rubauer, but he does
- 39:51Speaker 24: well enough you absolutely cannot blame him for today's uh
- 39:55Speaker 24: you know result.
- 39:56Speaker 1: He keeps you in this game.
- 39:57Speaker 24: He gave you a chance to get back in it
- 39:59Speaker 24: in the the third period, but it just wasn't enough.
- 40:02Speaker 24: And at the end of the day, I don't know where.
- 40:05Speaker 1: It comes from.
- 40:06Speaker 24: If it comes from the coach, if it comes from
- 40:07Speaker 24: the players, the older players, the younger players.
- 40:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 40:11Speaker 24: There needs to be kind of a shake up in
- 40:13Speaker 24: this team's makeup for these last few games because it
- 40:17Speaker 24: just hasn't been good.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Again. You tell us, folks, with what that shakeup is
- 40:20Speaker 1: going to be four nine, four or five to one.
- 40:22Speaker 1: The conversation is certainly open here for you, and I
- 40:25Speaker 1: think Andrews, I think part of the frustration also when
- 40:27Speaker 1: you think about how the first goal was generated. I
- 40:29Speaker 1: think I go back again to the second goal. Anaheim
- 40:32Speaker 1: scored shorthanded, and it was like a slow burned type
- 40:35Speaker 1: of play in the crack and we're just way too
- 40:37Speaker 1: slow getting back done. The last guy to get right
- 40:40Speaker 1: back there, Paling blows right on by him. And then
- 40:43Speaker 1: when you score to make a two to one early
- 40:45Speaker 1: in the second period, I'm thinking, Okay, you're finally finding
- 40:47Speaker 1: a way to respond here. You do so early, and
- 40:50Speaker 1: then you get a delay up game penalty and boom
- 40:52Speaker 1: back of the net Chris Kreider three to one, and
- 40:54Speaker 1: all that energy just disipates.
- 40:56Speaker 24: Yeah, and it's it's one of those things where you
- 40:58Speaker 24: and I were watching that you almost expected it to happen.
- 41:01Speaker 24: And if we're feeling that from as high up as
- 41:03Speaker 24: we are in the press box, you better believe the
- 41:06Speaker 24: players and the coaches are feeling that as well. They're
- 41:08Speaker 24: just expecting bad things to happen to them right now,
- 41:11Speaker 24: whether it's luck, whether it is you know, by their
- 41:14Speaker 24: own you know, misplays or lacks of focus here and there,
- 41:18Speaker 24: just little misses.
- 41:19Speaker 25: It.
- 41:20Speaker 24: It's tough to watch and I really hope they can
- 41:23Speaker 24: turn it around because playoffs are definitely still within reach.
- 41:26Speaker 24: Everything's really really tight right now, but some decisions have
- 41:30Speaker 24: to be made about this team and it's long term health,
- 41:33Speaker 24: not just in terms of the roster construction and trades
- 41:36Speaker 24: and all that stuff. We can get to that a
- 41:38Speaker 24: little bit later as well, because that question was asked.
- 41:40Speaker 24: But you have to even look at the players you
- 41:44Speaker 24: have on your team right now, and we ask what
- 41:47Speaker 24: is most important is it to try and squeak into
- 41:50Speaker 24: the playoffs and keep giving yourself a chance by playing
- 41:53Speaker 24: veterans more and more and more, or do you look
- 41:55Speaker 24: at the development of younger players.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I'll throw these two numbers out here for you. First off,
- 42:01Speaker 1: Berkeley Catton, Yeah, tonight did in factor on the score sheet,
- 42:06Speaker 1: thirteen thirty seven of ice time, one shot on goal,
- 42:10Speaker 1: three shot attempts, that delicious pass he made by the
- 42:13Speaker 1: way to Chandler Stevenson who just hit the brakes unfortunately
- 42:16Speaker 1: in front of his own net. And then the cracking
- 42:19Speaker 1: out hit twenty five to twenty one. But of those
- 42:22Speaker 1: twenty one hits, Jacob Alonsid had nearly half of them.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Ten hits in this game.
- 42:28Speaker 24: My god, I mean, you love what I like what
- 42:31Speaker 24: both those guys are doing right now, and that's what's
- 42:34Speaker 24: kind of dumbfounding about this result. And when you watch
- 42:37Speaker 24: the game, it's not young guys making young mistakes. They're
- 42:41Speaker 24: going out and doing absolutely what they need to do,
- 42:43Speaker 24: game in and game out. I loved Berkeley Catton's game tonight.
- 42:46Speaker 24: I think he had like eight or nine minutes of
- 42:49Speaker 24: ice time heading into period three, and you saw a
- 42:51Speaker 24: noticeable change from Lane Lambert to put him out there
- 42:54Speaker 24: every other shift and create offense. And he had about
- 42:57Speaker 24: three or four shifts in a row where he created something.
- 42:59Speaker 24: Whether there was that amazing like flick backwards pass to
- 43:03Speaker 24: Chandler Stevenson that you were talking about, he had a
- 43:06Speaker 24: couple of plays along the along the boards that were fantastic.
- 43:09Speaker 24: He looks like he's finding his game right now, and
- 43:12Speaker 24: you start to ask the question if he needs to
- 43:14Speaker 24: play a bigger role in this team, whether it's you know,
- 43:18Speaker 24: playing on the power play a little bit more often,
- 43:20Speaker 24: or just getting more ice time in general. That's something
- 43:23Speaker 24: I want to see, and that's gonna be a question
- 43:24Speaker 24: that needs to be answered, because I understand if you're
- 43:27Speaker 24: trying to get in the playoffs, sometimes playing an eighteen
- 43:30Speaker 24: nineteen twenty year old is not gonna like eighteen nineteen
- 43:34Speaker 24: twenty minutes a night is not going to give you
- 43:36Speaker 24: the best chance to win night in a night out.
- 43:38Speaker 24: But you look what the Sharks did with Macklin Celebrini.
- 43:40Speaker 24: You look what the Blackhawks are doing with Connor Bedard.
- 43:44Speaker 24: They they kind of let them go through their lungs
- 43:46Speaker 24: in their first couple of years. And yes, you know,
- 43:49Speaker 24: you go through a year maybe two of bad hockey
- 43:52Speaker 24: in terms of just the results. But they come out
- 43:54Speaker 24: the other side and now they're ready to go and
- 43:55Speaker 24: their top line guys crack and.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Fall forward to to the Anaheim Ducks. Again, send your
- 44:00Speaker 1: reaction in right now four nine four or five to one,
- 44:03Speaker 1: your instant takeaway from this evening's game four nine four
- 44:06Speaker 1: or five one on the Tacoma Dodgs text line as
- 44:08Speaker 1: a crack and fall forward to to the Anaheim Ducks
- 44:12Speaker 1: without further ado. Downstairs, we go from a reaction now
- 44:16Speaker 1: with crackenhead coach Lane Lambert.
- 44:18Speaker 25: What did you need more from your team tonight?
- 44:21Speaker 12: Quite a bit?
- 44:22Speaker 26: Quite a few things. Terrible, terrible hockey game for our team,
- 44:28Speaker 26: Terrible first forty minutes. You know, we had to push
- 44:31Speaker 26: at the end, but uh, I don't have a logical
- 44:35Speaker 26: explanation for an illogical event. Those the worst forty minutes
- 44:40Speaker 26: we played all year. When you look at.
- 44:42Speaker 9: The trend of the shorthanded goals against, just what do
- 44:45Speaker 9: you kind of make of it?
- 44:46Speaker 26: Is there anything that you point to concerning obviously costing
- 44:51Speaker 26: US hockey games a little bit? We're we're giving up
- 44:58Speaker 26: some opportunities, you know, breakaway type opportunities. You know, I
- 45:03Speaker 26: thought tonight was a half breakaway kind of thing. Maybe
- 45:06Speaker 26: a little bit of angle coming back could help, but
- 45:09Speaker 26: we got to quit doing that.
- 45:12Speaker 27: Coach, What was said maybe between the second and third piers,
- 45:15Speaker 27: because it did seem like the team found themselves a
- 45:17Speaker 27: little bit there and pushed back. Was there any kind
- 45:19Speaker 27: of messaging to the team at that point?
- 45:23Speaker 26: Well, you know, you can you always hesitate to say
- 45:27Speaker 26: it can't get any worse, But at that point in time,
- 45:29Speaker 26: there was only one way to go. When that was
- 45:31Speaker 26: up for us, you know, I don't want to disrespect
- 45:34Speaker 26: our opponent.
- 45:34Speaker 12: I thought they played well.
- 45:35Speaker 26: I thought they were on top of us early on,
- 45:38Speaker 26: and they played a good hockey game. They sat back
- 45:40Speaker 26: in the third period a little bit. We got going finally,
- 45:44Speaker 26: you know, and probably should have tied the game.
- 45:47Speaker 12: But when you.
- 45:49Speaker 26: Leave it up to chance and you play twenty minutes
- 45:53Speaker 26: in a sixty minute hockey game, you're not going to
- 45:55Speaker 26: have success very often. So one word can describe the
- 45:58Speaker 26: game for me. It's disappoint ointment. Friday night, big game,
- 46:03Speaker 26: Division opponent, four point game in front of our fans.
- 46:07Speaker 26: I'm actually dumbfounded. Shane.
- 46:11Speaker 27: There's been some outside noise about Shane Wright recently in
- 46:13Speaker 27: the media possibly being a trade target, and I'm curious
- 46:17Speaker 27: when you have a young player that has things like
- 46:20Speaker 27: that start to pop up about him, do you have
- 46:21Speaker 27: any conversations about him or how do you avoid having
- 46:24Speaker 27: that be a distraction for him? And why did you
- 46:25Speaker 27: think of his game tonight as well?
- 46:27Speaker 26: I thought his game was good, Well, it was really
- 46:29Speaker 26: good tonight. I think his game's been good for a while.
- 46:31Speaker 26: I think there's areas of Shane's game that we're working
- 46:33Speaker 26: on that he's improved on a lot since the beginning
- 46:37Speaker 26: of the year. The outside noise is the outside noise.
- 46:40Speaker 26: Speculation is speculation. I have no idea, but my job
- 46:43Speaker 26: is to make sure that he's ready to play. And
- 46:44Speaker 26: I think he's playing well. And I thought he played
- 46:46Speaker 26: well tonight.
- 46:49Speaker 25: Coach, how do you go about finding out the why?
- 46:53Speaker 25: I understand, we know the what, and it was so
- 46:57Speaker 25: different from the last game, when you had a lot
- 47:00Speaker 25: of reason to be proud of your team. Tonight not
- 47:03Speaker 25: so much. But how The question is why? And if
- 47:07Speaker 25: you don't know, how do you go about finding out
- 47:10Speaker 25: the why? How a team that played so well in
- 47:13Speaker 25: its next game kind of forgets what got them the
- 47:17Speaker 25: victory the last game.
- 47:18Speaker 26: Well, it's a great question. Uh, you know, we get
- 47:20Speaker 26: back to work tomorrow, you know, and we focus on
- 47:23Speaker 26: the things that we do in order to have success
- 47:26Speaker 26: and make ourselves good. We've got a short term memory here.
- 47:31Speaker 26: We've got a big game coming up here, you know,
- 47:33Speaker 26: at noon on Sunday, So, uh, you know, we'll focus
- 47:37Speaker 26: on that game. And there's you know, clearly in the
- 47:42Speaker 26: third period, we you know, showed what we can do
- 47:46Speaker 26: and how we can play it. Just there was absolutely
- 47:49Speaker 26: nothing going right in the first two periods. We couldn't connect,
- 47:52Speaker 26: we couldn't make a pass, just weren't very good at all.
- 47:58Speaker 26: Speaking of the why.
- 48:01Speaker 22: Allowed at least one goal in the first five minutes
- 48:04Speaker 22: of in eight of the last nine games, what do
- 48:06Speaker 22: you attribute that to?
- 48:08Speaker 26: Well, there's a few things you could probably attribute it to,
- 48:12Speaker 26: but you know, from my standpoint, the focus going into
- 48:17Speaker 26: the first five minutes of the hockey game was to
- 48:20Speaker 26: get the puck into their zone, behind their defense and
- 48:22Speaker 26: for check and we turned the puck over about four times.
- 48:27Speaker 26: So you know, there's a point in time where we
- 48:31Speaker 26: have to figure this out and players have to understand
- 48:35Speaker 26: there's a certain way to play, certainly at the start
- 48:39Speaker 26: of the game, and we've got to be a lot
- 48:41Speaker 26: better because you know, if you look at teams records,
- 48:45Speaker 26: when they score first as opposed to when they get
- 48:47Speaker 26: scored on first, there's a staggering difference, and it holds true.
- 48:52Speaker 3: With us.
- 48:54Speaker 1: As a coach. Lane Lambert, my goodness, that was Jarry,
- 48:57Speaker 1: My goodness, that was honest and straightforward. Mike Bent and
- 49:00Speaker 1: andrews Hurst with you, and I think again, for a
- 49:03Speaker 1: night like this, you can just kind of get into
- 49:04Speaker 1: the head of Lane Lambert and a lot of folks
- 49:06Speaker 1: who I think saw what happened here for tonight, you're
- 49:10Speaker 1: thinking that nobody can walk away feeling good about what happened. Yes,
- 49:14Speaker 1: you tried to come back in period three, but again
- 49:16Speaker 1: the law of averages in the NHL say you chased
- 49:19Speaker 1: from behind. The odds are severely stacked against you. And
- 49:23Speaker 1: tonight when you look at I think up and down
- 49:25Speaker 1: the score sheet Andrews as far as who's in the plus,
- 49:27Speaker 1: who's in the minus? This had to be a wake
- 49:30Speaker 1: up call asap.
- 49:31Speaker 24: Yeah, and it speaks of a coach who looks frustrated.
- 49:35Speaker 24: To me, I've I was in there during that press conference,
- 49:38Speaker 24: and you know, I've kind of looked at what he's
- 49:40Speaker 24: responded to recently.
- 49:42Speaker 1: He I can tell that he expects more.
- 49:45Speaker 12: From his players.
- 49:46Speaker 24: He it's he can only do so much as a coach.
- 49:49Speaker 24: He can't go out and play on the ice for
- 49:51Speaker 24: these guys. He expects more of these guys and he's
- 49:54Speaker 24: starting to get frustrated with their execution. And it's it's
- 49:57Speaker 24: these things that it's not that they weren't prepared for it.
- 50:01Speaker 24: They knew what was gonna happen. He talked about the
- 50:02Speaker 24: shorthanded goal and the starts for the games. It's it's
- 50:09Speaker 24: hard to describe how a coach can do so much
- 50:15Speaker 24: and it have it not become the result that you
- 50:19Speaker 24: want it to be.
- 50:20Speaker 1: So I wonder where we go from here. I really do.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Mike ben Well, I thought a great point and great
- 50:25Speaker 1: question brought up here as far as Shane Wright, because
- 50:28Speaker 1: reports are you know of his name being floated around
- 50:31Speaker 1: as far as trade potentials. I thought Laine Lambert gave
- 50:34Speaker 1: as good of an answer as he could have given
- 50:37Speaker 1: because he has no control over that. But the best
- 50:39Speaker 1: he can do is work with this game. And to
- 50:41Speaker 1: be honest, I mean, I thought one of the greater
- 50:43Speaker 1: plays that we've seen out of him in the recent
- 50:46Speaker 1: few weeks, setting up Jaden Schwartz as well.
- 50:48Speaker 24: Yeah, and I think he had one of his better
- 50:49Speaker 24: games tonight. And you know, there could be a little
- 50:52Speaker 24: bit of because there is a lot of speculation about
- 50:56Speaker 24: Shane Wright's movement. You don't want to trash the player
- 50:59Speaker 24: for how he's been playing. I'm not saying has been
- 51:00Speaker 24: playing trash, but if that were the case, you wouldn't
- 51:04Speaker 24: want to diminish his value. Right before you move him right,
- 51:06Speaker 24: So there's a little bit of a game going on.
- 51:09Speaker 24: But they actually asked Shane right about that as well,
- 51:13Speaker 24: and Shane actually had a nice funny comment about, you know,
- 51:16Speaker 24: can't trust the media, love you guys, but it was
- 51:18Speaker 24: really funny. I gotta give it to Shane on that one.
- 51:21Speaker 24: He just shows up and plays hockey games and look exactly,
- 51:24Speaker 24: and he had a really good game tonight. And I
- 51:25Speaker 24: don't think he was one of the guys that you
- 51:27Speaker 24: could point to, you know, I look at him, I
- 51:30Speaker 24: look at Berkeley Catton, I look at Jacob Malons, and
- 51:33Speaker 24: those guys all had really good games tonight. It's the
- 51:35Speaker 24: veteran kind of group with this one that I really
- 51:39Speaker 24: am starting to get frustrated with.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think also when you look at this
- 51:43Speaker 1: with so many players coming up. I said so on
- 51:46Speaker 1: our with the radio show about a couple of shows ago.
- 51:49Speaker 1: The kids are coming, they will be coming, and this
- 51:53Speaker 1: has gotta once again be allowed and resounding message that
- 51:57Speaker 1: you have younger players who were hungry will be fighting
- 52:00Speaker 1: for more opportunities.
- 52:01Speaker 24: Yeah, and you got to give him to him, like
- 52:04Speaker 24: you can't say that Berkeley Caton hasn't earned himself more
- 52:06Speaker 24: ice time. He was arguably your best forward tonight, especially
- 52:11Speaker 24: in terms of creating chances. He drew the first penalty
- 52:14Speaker 24: I know the crack and didn't score on it, but
- 52:15Speaker 24: he's not even playing on the power play anymore. So
- 52:18Speaker 24: it's it's just I don't know where the crack can
- 52:22Speaker 24: go from here. They kind of have a little bit
- 52:23Speaker 24: of a log jam as well at the forward position
- 52:26Speaker 24: because we talked about health all year long.
- 52:27Speaker 1: They haven't been healthy. They haven't been healthy. Well, now
- 52:29Speaker 1: they're healthy, and don't forget Cat into his natural center
- 52:31Speaker 1: and will go over here to the way exactly. He's
- 52:33Speaker 1: thriving right now. It looks like getting that. I mean, granted,
- 52:36Speaker 1: I've talked before about this off here to the side
- 52:39Speaker 1: with a few on the coaching staff, and I think
- 52:41Speaker 1: you kind of get the sense that you know, he's
- 52:43Speaker 1: got a lot of skill. There's a course a lot
- 52:45Speaker 1: to work on with this game. That's natural. But you're
- 52:48Speaker 1: seeing more and more and more chances come this way
- 52:51Speaker 1: because he is earning them.
- 52:52Speaker 24: Yeah, And when you play more, you just generally you
- 52:55Speaker 24: gain more confidence. And when you gain more confidence, you
- 52:58Speaker 24: start to make plays and play more free, especially with
- 53:00Speaker 24: a player as much as skill as he has, like,
- 53:03Speaker 24: I just want him to get more time. You see
- 53:06Speaker 24: all these younger players all around the league that are
- 53:09Speaker 24: changing the course of their franchises, whether it's Macklin Celabrini,
- 53:13Speaker 24: whether it is Connor Bedard.
- 53:14Speaker 1: You can look across the way at Beckett Seneca.
- 53:16Speaker 24: Uh for Anaheim, he came in as a third or
- 53:19Speaker 24: fourth line role pretty quickly. Joel Quinnville, a guy who
- 53:22Speaker 24: wants to win now, by the way, is starting to
- 53:24Speaker 24: move him up into the second first line role. Power
- 53:27Speaker 24: play one and now, especially with you got a couple
- 53:30Speaker 24: guys out for Anaheim, he's one of the main guys
- 53:31Speaker 24: now and it's it's it's cool to see teams start
- 53:34Speaker 24: to do that.
- 53:35Speaker 1: I want to see that a little bit more seat.
- 53:36Speaker 1: We have left the text line fester enough right here
- 53:39Speaker 1: again four nine, four or five one to coma doadje
- 53:41Speaker 1: text line and the four to two five just same
- 53:43Speaker 1: flat out tonight. Not an aggressive team. That's part of
- 53:46Speaker 1: the problem that from the four to two five. Another
- 53:49Speaker 1: one here from the four to two five is saying
- 53:50Speaker 1: Malonson was the only good aggressive part of this game.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Here's one for you, Andrews. We can have more of
- 53:55Speaker 1: a conversation after this breakup f in the two five
- 53:58Speaker 1: three power play has some prove but what we're doing
- 54:01Speaker 1: is allowing breakaways and short handed goals. What do you
- 54:04Speaker 1: do to fix that? It's frustrating that For the two
- 54:06Speaker 1: five three we're gonna step aside, but more conversation on
- 54:09Speaker 1: this one to come as a crack and fall for
- 54:12Speaker 1: two to the Anaheim Ducks again, New Jersey up next
- 54:15Speaker 1: here on Sunday at twelve pm. Back in a bit
- 54:18Speaker 1: here live at Tom's Washbar. This is Talking Kraken a
- 54:21Speaker 1: ninety three three KJERFM. If you've got to.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Come in about tonight's cracking game, make sure we hear
- 54:28Speaker 2: about it. Just text us at four nine four five one.
- 54:31Speaker 2: Now back to Tucking Kraken with Mike Benton on Sports
- 54:35Speaker 2: Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Where we are back at Tom's Washbar, right across from
- 54:41Speaker 1: find the Pledge Arena. Mike Benton Andrewsers with you. More
- 54:44Speaker 1: reaction here for the four to two five Uh, just
- 54:46Speaker 1: saying week start with a goal in the first minute,
- 54:48Speaker 1: another shorthanded goal, and that gets you out of the
- 54:50Speaker 1: wildcard spot. So the Sunday Mattinee is going to be
- 54:53Speaker 1: a big, big game and would like to see the
- 54:56Speaker 1: team step up to meet the challenge that from the
- 54:59Speaker 1: four to two five Andrews, I get right back here
- 55:01Speaker 1: to a previous text here from the two to five
- 55:03Speaker 1: three about the power play one unit, Don McCann, Stevenson,
- 55:08Speaker 1: Beniers Everley, second unit, Montor Tolvenen, Schwartz, Ry Coppocaco will
- 55:13Speaker 1: see maybe if there are any tweaks. But I mean,
- 55:16Speaker 1: is it time to have a conversation you think now
- 55:18Speaker 1: about say where Berkeley Catton has found his way here
- 55:21Speaker 1: in the mix.
- 55:22Speaker 24: It should be more than a conversation, Mike. It should
- 55:24Speaker 24: be he should be in at least one of those units.
- 55:26Speaker 24: And I have I argue you should be on the
- 55:28Speaker 24: first unit. And for a long time now I've actually
- 55:31Speaker 24: thought now I realize the Kracken's power play has actually
- 55:34Speaker 24: been one of the reasons they have they are in
- 55:37Speaker 24: the position that they are in right now. And Jordan
- 55:38Speaker 24: Eberley mentioned that earlier tonight as well. It it is
- 55:43Speaker 24: frustrating when you give up the shorthanded goals. That's for
- 55:46Speaker 24: the last five games. I believe that the Kracken have
- 55:48Speaker 24: given a given up a shorthanded goal. So that's something
- 55:52Speaker 24: that needs to be fixed. But I still believe that
- 55:56Speaker 24: Berkeley Katten should be on the man advantage. And if
- 56:01Speaker 24: there's any situation where you want him on the ice,
- 56:04Speaker 24: I get kind of like, I don't want to say
- 56:06Speaker 24: sheltering him, but hiding him a little bit and letting
- 56:10Speaker 24: him develop in easier situations. But do you still should
- 56:14Speaker 24: have him on the power play? He's your most skilled
- 56:16Speaker 24: forward bar none, and that's where you give him some confidence,
- 56:20Speaker 24: get him a couple opportunities when you have the puck
- 56:23Speaker 24: in their end more often than not. It just seems
- 56:26Speaker 24: like that should be a situation for him. Now when
- 56:29Speaker 24: we look at that, who do you take out? That's
- 56:31Speaker 24: the other thing that has to happen. Like Tolvenan's been
- 56:34Speaker 24: doing a little bit better lately, Jayden Schwartz just got
- 56:36Speaker 24: back in the lineup. He's gonna be a.
- 56:38Speaker 1: Guy that you want in your power play.
- 56:40Speaker 24: We just wanted we just talked about Shane right and
- 56:42Speaker 24: how well he's been playing lately. Obviously montur is gonna
- 56:44Speaker 24: be your quarterback. Maybe Coppocco, I don't know. But and
- 56:48Speaker 24: then you look at the top unit, they've all been
- 56:50Speaker 24: they've they've been doing pretty well. I I just don't
- 56:53Speaker 24: know where you slought him in. And this is where
- 56:55Speaker 24: the kind of bigger conversation goes about trades that you
- 56:59Speaker 24: need to start thinking about, because it isn't just a oh,
- 57:01Speaker 24: we're selling and where we're kind of giving up on
- 57:03Speaker 24: this season. You gotta leave some room for your better
- 57:07Speaker 24: players and get some value in return.
- 57:09Speaker 1: It's gonna come internally, and it's gotta come internally.
- 57:11Speaker 6: Here.
- 57:11Speaker 1: I think the word from Lane Lambert certainly said so
- 57:14Speaker 1: yeah here for tonight. That was very blunt and very
- 57:16Speaker 1: direct as well. More reaction before we get out of
- 57:19Speaker 1: here for tonight Cracking for Life from that handle at
- 57:24Speaker 1: X as well, feeling very good about the future of
- 57:27Speaker 1: Berkeley Catton, but yet also ready for Rosher movements right now.
- 57:31Speaker 1: That from Cracking for Life. Reaction here from Kevin just
- 57:35Speaker 1: saying bad loss here for tonight. Anaheim is now four
- 57:37Speaker 1: points up on this team. San Jose wins. They get
- 57:40Speaker 1: two points out of the wild card. Vegas wins as well,
- 57:43Speaker 1: so that from Kevin. But ultimately I think this again
- 57:45Speaker 1: is lettmus test. Once you get through these run of
- 57:48Speaker 1: Eastern Conference games, you're gonna go into Vegas, you're gonna
- 57:51Speaker 1: go into Anaheim, you're gonna go into Los Angeles and
- 57:53Speaker 1: the crack and had to be much more ready from
- 57:55Speaker 1: the opening belt.
- 57:56Speaker 24: And this is where this is where you kind of
- 57:58Speaker 24: have to put into perspective a little bit, because it's
- 58:00Speaker 24: amazing how different the tone we would be having for
- 58:03Speaker 24: one game if they had won this game. They're tied
- 58:06Speaker 24: with Anaheim and Pace still too one period three exactly
- 58:10Speaker 24: tied with Anaheim with the game less played in the
- 58:13Speaker 24: Pacific for third place in the Pacific. So but that's
- 58:17Speaker 24: where you don't want to be. Is kind of that
- 58:19Speaker 24: meddling middle that they talk about in the NHL. You
- 58:22Speaker 24: either are you know, one of the three best or
- 58:24Speaker 24: four or five best teams in your conference or you
- 58:27Speaker 24: gotta kind of think about, you know, rebuilding to get
- 58:30Speaker 24: to that point in the future. So the Kraken, like
- 58:33Speaker 24: I said, this is what this is the reality they're
- 58:35Speaker 24: in right now. If you win, we're talking about, oh, okay,
- 58:38Speaker 24: what auditions can we start to make to make this
- 58:39Speaker 24: team really really good for this year? Go win the
- 58:41Speaker 24: go have a chance to win a couple of playoff
- 58:43Speaker 24: series this year. Versus now we're starting to think about
- 58:46Speaker 24: all right, do we start taking a more long turn.
- 58:48Speaker 24: We got to play the kids a little bit more
- 58:50Speaker 24: based off of one game. It's just two points, but
- 58:52Speaker 24: it's not just two points. It's it was a four
- 58:54Speaker 24: point night tonight, and it was the way that it
- 58:56Speaker 24: looked more than anything else for two periods where you
- 58:59Speaker 24: were just apps blown out of your own arena against
- 59:02Speaker 24: a team that's two points ahead of you in the standing.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Other crack and trying to get it into high gear
- 59:06Speaker 1: again at high noon against the New Jersey Devils on
- 59:09Speaker 1: Sunday before it is NFC title time a few hours
- 59:12Speaker 1: down the road and also a few miles down the
- 59:15Speaker 1: road here from this joint. This area is going to
- 59:17Speaker 1: be bumping here big time on Sunday, So the crack
- 59:20Speaker 1: and trying to begin unhappy terms against New Jersey again
- 59:23Speaker 1: they beat the Canucks earlier here for tonight, but again
- 59:26Speaker 1: trying to even the series for two games at one
- 59:28Speaker 1: and one after dropping an overtime loss in New Jersey
- 59:32Speaker 1: just this last week at Prudential Center. All right, appreciate
- 59:35Speaker 1: you Andrews all the time we got here, folks. Once again,
- 59:37Speaker 1: big thank you to Travis Smoger, our technical director, also
- 59:40Speaker 1: Terry Ryan are on site engineer for Anders. This is
- 59:44Speaker 1: Mike Benton saying good night from Climbing Pledge Arena and
- 59:47Speaker 1: Tom's Watchbar. Thank you for your reaction and thank you
- 59:50Speaker 1: for joining us your final score once again, this evening
- 59:53Speaker 1: the Anaheim Ducks four and the Seattle crack In two.
