- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all listen to the voice.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Come on, dig me now. One and only. Steve Harvey.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Got a radio show. Hell, man. Back in business, too, man. Man,
- 0:18Speaker 1: how good is God?
- 0:19Speaker 2: I mean, really, if you think about it, in spite
- 0:21Speaker 2: of all that's going down in your life, first of all,
- 0:24Speaker 2: it could be worse. But secondly, sometimes you have to
- 0:28Speaker 2: remember that And I've just had to have this conversation
- 0:30Speaker 2: with myself this morning. That's how I'm fresh on this
- 0:34Speaker 2: one right here. When a challenge faces you, are you
- 0:38Speaker 2: going through a difficult moment or you didn't hit a
- 0:41Speaker 2: bump in the road? In the middle of that, if
- 0:45Speaker 2: you can manage to be grateful, it will take you
- 0:48Speaker 2: a long way.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Gratitude is a powerful resource.
- 0:53Speaker 2: If you can be grateful in the middle of it,
- 0:56Speaker 2: gratitude is a powerful resource. When it's dim for you
- 1:01Speaker 2: and it got a little bumpy on the road and
- 1:04Speaker 2: you ran into some obstacles and you didn't ran up
- 1:07Speaker 2: into some detour signs and your journey ain't smooth as it.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Was last week or last year.
- 1:14Speaker 2: You got to be grateful for the things that are
- 1:18Speaker 2: going right and that have gone right. And for the
- 1:22Speaker 2: thing that's wrong right now to get right, man, can
- 1:25Speaker 2: I share that with you? Man, is that a tough
- 1:28Speaker 2: one to learn? It is for me. It has been
- 1:31Speaker 2: one of my toughest challenges is to learn how to
- 1:35Speaker 2: be grateful because it's a powerful resource, but how to
- 1:39Speaker 2: be grateful in moments of despair when it ain't going right. See,
- 1:43Speaker 2: here's a mistake I would make. See, when something go wrong,
- 1:46Speaker 2: I want to focus on the wrong so much in
- 1:50Speaker 2: an attempt to fix it. But even then, the focus
- 1:54Speaker 2: ain't always in to fix it. The focus becomes, man,
- 1:58Speaker 2: this is bad. Man, I can't believe this is happening.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Why does it keep going down? That doesn't fix anything.
- 2:06Speaker 2: You know, milling over it, going over what's wrong, explaining it,
- 2:12Speaker 2: sharing it with your friends. You know, making it sound
- 2:17Speaker 2: worse than it is. Tell the story for pity from
- 2:20Speaker 2: other people. All of that right there has nothing to
- 2:23Speaker 2: do with the fix. Sometimes you're just mulling over it.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You're just making it worse. You're just making it a
- 2:29Speaker 2: bigger problem. You're manifesting it into your atmosphere. You're putting
- 2:33Speaker 2: it out there in your spirit. Now all of a
- 2:35Speaker 2: sudden it consumes your day. Next thing you know, you're
- 2:38Speaker 2: having a bad day. If you're having a bad day,
- 2:41Speaker 2: it's because you've been having some bad thoughts. So what
- 2:44Speaker 2: I've had to learn how to do and what I'm
- 2:46Speaker 2: working on this morning is I'm working on this situation
- 2:50Speaker 2: that didn't cropped up. I was going kind of smooth
- 2:53Speaker 2: here for a minute. And now I didn't got real
- 2:55Speaker 2: bumpy in the road, you know, and all this here.
- 2:57Speaker 2: So what I'm thinking about now, though, is even though
- 3:00Speaker 2: I've hit a bump in the road and even though
- 3:03Speaker 2: I ran into a detour and even though I've hit
- 3:07Speaker 2: this lull, I'm going down into a valley.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I ain't up on a peak.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Can I not still be grateful for all the things
- 3:16Speaker 2: that God has given me? for all the things he's
- 3:19Speaker 2: done for me, for all the things he's brought me through,
- 3:23Speaker 2: and realizing that even this that's happening to me again
- 3:27Speaker 2: is going to pass too. He going to get me
- 3:30Speaker 2: through that too.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Come on, man. God is a good God, man. It's
- 3:33Speaker 1: a lot to be grateful for.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So while I'm tripping on this bump in the road
- 3:37Speaker 2: out in here, what I got to remember is all
- 3:39Speaker 2: the things he's done for me. And like I say,
- 3:42Speaker 2: my saying is joy and depression cannot reside in the
- 3:45Speaker 2: same place. So instead of being down about this new
- 3:48Speaker 2: bump in the road, if I'm constantly filling my mind
- 3:51Speaker 2: with the thoughts of how good he's been to me,
- 3:54Speaker 2: of what all he's done for me, of all the
- 3:56Speaker 2: things he's brought me through, of all the blessings he's
- 3:59Speaker 2: presented me with, when I go down that list, I
- 4:02Speaker 2: really don't have a lot of time to mull over
- 4:08Speaker 2: The situation. Now, do I have to fix this bump
- 4:11Speaker 2: in the road? Of course I do. Are there some
- 4:13Speaker 2: things I'm going to have to do to straighten it out?
- 4:16Speaker 2: Of course it is. But Steve, just go on and
- 4:19Speaker 2: get the business of doing it and straighten it out.
- 4:21Speaker 2: What you mulling over and worrying about it for? You know,
- 4:24Speaker 2: old people, I heard old people say something when I
- 4:26Speaker 2: was growing up in the church. They say, if you're
- 4:28Speaker 2: going to pray about it, don't worry about it. But
- 4:30Speaker 2: if you're going to worry about it, don't pray about it.
- 4:33Speaker 2: That's an amazing thing. And prayer just happens to be
- 4:37Speaker 2: my weapon of choice. That ain't always been that way.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I want you to understand that. My first weapon of
- 4:43Speaker 2: choice was you do it to me, I do it
- 4:45Speaker 2: to you. You call me out, I call you out.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You say something bad about me, I've tried to find
- 4:50Speaker 2: you to say something bad about you. That was my
- 4:53Speaker 2: weapon in the past. How did that work out for you, Steve?
- 4:57Speaker 2: Not so good.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Because you know what?
- 4:59Speaker 2: I spent a lot of time fighting back kicking back,
- 5:04Speaker 2: swinging back when I could have spent all that time climbing. See,
- 5:09Speaker 2: all you're trying to do at the end of the day, folks,
- 5:11Speaker 2: is have a better life than the one you got.
- 5:13Speaker 2: All you're trying to do is improve your position in life.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You know, it's not my business to make sure you
- 5:19Speaker 2: don't get where you're going.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I ain't got no time for that. It's not my
- 5:23Speaker 1: job to.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Assure that you ain't as high as me. I ain't
- 5:27Speaker 2: got no time for that. Your real mission and purpose
- 5:31Speaker 2: is to have the best life that you can have,
- 5:34Speaker 2: to ascend to the highest plateau that you can get to,
- 5:38Speaker 2: to make your family as comfortable as you can, to
- 5:41Speaker 2: provide as much as you can for your family, but legally. See,
- 5:45Speaker 2: those of us that are sitting up here trying to
- 5:47Speaker 2: come up with sideways, you can ask a couple million
- 5:50Speaker 2: men sitting in prison today how they wish they hadn't
- 5:52Speaker 2: have done that. And they'll tell you, oh, man, I
- 5:56Speaker 2: wish I never had did it. I knew not to
- 5:58Speaker 2: go down there. Something told me not to go down there. Man,
- 6:02Speaker 2: if I could change things, I would. But they sitting somewhere.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Doing some time that had they made another decision, they
- 6:09Speaker 2: wouldn't have to do that. I don't make them throw
- 6:12Speaker 2: away people now, man, because everybody make mistakes and God
- 6:16Speaker 2: is in the forgiving business. And some of us have
- 6:18Speaker 2: done some things that really broke the law and a
- 6:22Speaker 2: whole lot of other things and deserve to do some time.
- 6:25Speaker 2: But through the grace of God, we didn't. But now
- 6:27Speaker 2: we sit up here and we pass judgment on people
- 6:29Speaker 2: who got to do some. Man, I don't care. I
- 6:31Speaker 2: don't care what you've done. God can forgive anything. But
- 6:34Speaker 2: our position, our motivation in life is to try to
- 6:38Speaker 2: have the best life we can have and provide for
- 6:41Speaker 2: those around us and make it comfortable. If that's your ambition,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you don't have time to worry about or concern yourself
- 6:49Speaker 2: with another person. And I wasted time doing that. And
- 6:53Speaker 2: that's not the way to get it done. It's simply
- 6:56Speaker 2: mine to your business. Taking care of you and getting
- 6:59Speaker 2: yourself right and tight is 24 seven. So that's a
- 7:02Speaker 2: full time job. So what I had to learn was
- 7:06Speaker 2: and what I've the reason I've chosen prayer as as
- 7:09Speaker 2: my weapon of choice now is that now prayer helps me.
- 7:14Speaker 2: that I don't have to fight back. Now, if I
- 7:17Speaker 2: get cornered, I'm going to fight you. I ain't even
- 7:20Speaker 2: going to lie to you. And I'm still working on
- 7:23Speaker 2: some things that trigger me, you know, you know, you know, and, and,
- 7:28Speaker 2: and so I'm, I'm, I'm slowly getting better at that,
- 7:31Speaker 2: but I've learned that my weapon of choice is prayer now.
- 7:36Speaker 2: So when it happens ugly for me, I pray about it.
- 7:41Speaker 2: When it gets tight and dismal for me, I pray
- 7:44Speaker 2: about it. And the thing about prayer, man, is prayer
- 7:48Speaker 2: changes things. Yes, it does now. Read about it and
- 7:53Speaker 2: try it. That's the deal, okay?
- 7:56Speaker 1: Come on. Prayer is a wonderful weapon. You're listening to
- 7:59Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
