- 2:48Speaker 5: Man Kingston, Jamaican shout boys. Man, take us to the
- 2:51Speaker 5: neighborhood today we have an a legendary day and.
- 2:54Speaker 4: First international episode. Yes, that's the international field.
- 2:58Speaker 5: This is in person, in person, so obviously you know
- 3:03Speaker 5: that we big culture fans, were big sports fans. Choice
- 3:06Speaker 5: you're making my way of New York. You've seen both
- 3:14Speaker 5: needs no introduction. One of the greatest athletes of all time.
- 3:18Speaker 7: Uh, the greatest olympician of all time.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yeah, nine time medalists, triple the fastest person in the
- 3:26Speaker 4: history of the world. Absolutely, very rare, very fastest person.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I told my son I was coming here. I said,
- 3:33Speaker 4: he's the fast man in the world. He's like, could
- 3:35Speaker 4: I raise him?
- 3:36Speaker 5: I'm like, you know, so, I mean, obviously you know
- 3:42Speaker 5: what the athletic side, but this is a business show
- 3:44Speaker 5: and what he's been able to accomplish in the business
- 3:46Speaker 5: world is just as impressive and orshment.
- 3:49Speaker 7: Deal is crazy. We're at his restaurant right.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Now, yep, in the music business, looking at the DJ
- 3:55Speaker 4: callat of.
- 4:01Speaker 7: I've read about some real estate.
- 4:03Speaker 5: So we're gonna have a really dope conversation about the
- 4:05Speaker 5: stuff that he is doing and has done post his
- 4:09Speaker 5: illustrious historic career and first and formal thank you for joining.
- 4:13Speaker 7: To appreciate it.
- 4:15Speaker 2: This is going to be a insane lea.
- 4:25Speaker 7: So let's get into this.
- 4:26Speaker 5: So you really transcended the game of track and field,
- 4:30Speaker 5: because track and field is not one of these sports
- 4:32Speaker 5: where it's like basketball or football soccer where normally athletes
- 4:37Speaker 5: aren't that big, like you know what I mean, Like
- 4:39Speaker 5: it's a very niche sport. When you were able to
- 4:41Speaker 5: transcend that and become a global superstar and make a
- 4:44Speaker 5: lot of money, that's another thing.
- 4:45Speaker 7: A lot of track.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Stars don't really make that much money just from running track,
- 4:48Speaker 5: but your endorsement deals anything else. So when did you
- 4:51Speaker 5: see yourself as somebody that can transcend the sport and
- 4:54Speaker 5: had it that? Obviously you know you're being a superstar
- 4:57Speaker 5: and breaking records, but what did you think propelled that?
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yo?
- 5:00Speaker 4: For me, it was it was It wasn't actually at
- 5:04Speaker 4: the first Olympics. It was when I was getting to
- 5:06Speaker 4: my second Olympics, I'm twenty twelve, where my agent really
- 5:10Speaker 4: sat me down and said, listen, if we win this
- 5:13Speaker 4: next Olympics this week, could things could take off, you
- 5:17Speaker 4: know what I mean. We could start changing the game
- 5:19Speaker 4: and doing hell of the different things. And I was like,
- 5:22Speaker 4: all right, let's do it, you know what I mean.
- 5:24Speaker 4: That's when I really started seeing the money and a
- 5:27Speaker 4: lot of the sponsorships started, more sponsorship started coming in.
- 5:29Speaker 4: So for me, that's when I was like, yo, yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 4: let's do this, and I meant's change the game. That's
- 5:34Speaker 4: why he continued us aiming I and trying to do
- 5:36Speaker 4: bigger things. So twenty twelve is the London Games. Yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 4: two thousand a's when you first on the scene exactly. Well,
- 5:43Speaker 4: I won't go back to two thousand and four athletes
- 5:45Speaker 4: because that was your first one.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Ever, then you realize that this is no joke. This
- 5:50Speaker 2: is no joke.
- 5:51Speaker 4: So I want to talk about a little bit about
- 5:53Speaker 4: what Clinton Mills went to your career, into your development
- 5:57Speaker 4: into being a superstar coach.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Mills, well, he changed it changed my life, you know
- 6:02Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 6:04Speaker 4: He knew he had a plan when we when we
- 6:06Speaker 4: started working oh five, he sat me down was like, listen,
- 6:09Speaker 4: we have a three year plan. We're working towards the Olympics,
- 6:12Speaker 4: so we need to figure out what the problem is,
- 6:15Speaker 4: what he needs to do to get better. And so
- 6:18Speaker 4: we had an old plan in place when we just started,
- 6:21Speaker 4: you know what I mean. And for me, that's what
- 6:23Speaker 4: made it work because I knew exactly what I was supposed.
- 6:26Speaker 2: To do or how long it would take you I mean.
- 6:28Speaker 4: And it took me time to really understand that if
- 6:30Speaker 4: I want to be great, I had to work hard,
- 6:32Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So I learned that along
- 6:34Speaker 4: the way because I was very talented at a young age.
- 6:38Speaker 4: So I was like, my talent could take me whatever,
- 6:41Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So after that I figured
- 6:43Speaker 4: I was like, shit, my talent's not going to take me.
- 6:45Speaker 2: It's not going to take me this far. So I
- 6:47Speaker 2: have to put this work and if I want to
- 6:48Speaker 2: get to the talking.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I feel like it's very ready to have an opportunity
- 6:51Speaker 5: to speak to somebody that's reached the level of success
- 6:53Speaker 5: that you've had, Like I look at you look at
- 6:55Speaker 5: like Michael Jordan or Floyd Mayweather or Muhammad Ali's people
- 6:59Speaker 5: like that, and the average person doesn't really understand, Like
- 7:01Speaker 5: they look at it and they say, okay, he's running
- 7:03Speaker 5: a race. And I read somewhere it was like you
- 7:06Speaker 5: make more money than Jeff Bezos per second.
- 7:09Speaker 7: I'm like, that's not really fair because the race is
- 7:11Speaker 7: only ten seconds. But it took him twenty years time.
- 7:14Speaker 2: The races.
- 7:17Speaker 7: Never so talk.
- 7:19Speaker 5: About like the daily grind and like when you really
- 7:22Speaker 5: start to take serious and like how many hours a
- 7:25Speaker 5: day for years that it took you, Like the diligent work.
- 7:29Speaker 5: I think that you had to have.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Jeez.
- 7:32Speaker 4: For me, I really was old oh seven winning I
- 7:36Speaker 4: was like, no, if I want to really win this.
- 7:39Speaker 4: I remember at the World Championships, I came second to
- 7:43Speaker 4: Tyson Gay and in my mind I was ready, you
- 7:45Speaker 4: know what I mean. I was like, yo, I trained hard,
- 7:47Speaker 4: I'm ready to go, and I came second. I went
- 7:49Speaker 4: back to my coach. I was like, coach, I was
- 7:51Speaker 4: really trying, and he goes, yo, you're weak. You're not
- 7:53Speaker 4: going to the gym, you don't come to chain all
- 7:55Speaker 4: the time, you don't sleep, and he started naming.
- 7:57Speaker 2: This the stuff, and I was like shit.
- 8:01Speaker 7: I was like all right.
- 8:02Speaker 4: I was like next year, I'm gonna do all this
- 8:04Speaker 4: and that was eight, you know what I mean, And
- 8:06Speaker 4: you're seeing the.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Product of eight. But it's just I train like depends.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I trained there on the track and like I'll do
- 8:16Speaker 4: two hours in the gym, you know what I mean.
- 8:18Speaker 4: And then I have to do like extra stuff because
- 8:20Speaker 4: I have so I have to do back workouts and
- 8:23Speaker 4: and o workouts just to keep my core.
- 8:26Speaker 2: My core is weak. I started getting injured, you know
- 8:28Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 8:29Speaker 4: So sh all I was like probably six hours a day,
- 8:32Speaker 4: I mean, but it's spaced out short to them, but
- 8:35Speaker 4: it's always intense, you know what I mean.
- 8:36Speaker 2: It's never just like go for a job. It's like
- 8:40Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 8:40Speaker 4: So you said, Dan, as you're training in the early series,
- 8:45Speaker 4: right because after you take over, there's no catching. But
- 8:48Speaker 4: these the guys that you're looking at like I'm gonna
- 8:50Speaker 4: pass him, Michael Johnson, I need that record?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Is that is that on your wall as you as
- 8:54Speaker 2: you as your building up. No, for me, I live
- 8:57Speaker 2: a couple of shot. I enjoyed that, you know what
- 8:59Speaker 2: I mean.
- 8:59Speaker 4: So for me, I was like, you know, I want
- 9:01Speaker 4: to compete a enticeon So for me, that was it.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I was like, you know, I was never thinking about
- 9:06Speaker 4: records or anything. I was like, yo, I just want
- 9:08Speaker 4: to beat you. That's how I am. You know, you're
- 9:10Speaker 4: fascinate than me. I want to be here. So for me,
- 9:13Speaker 4: when I'm training, I'm working out to be this guy
- 9:15Speaker 4: or that guy or anybody. As long as he in
- 9:18Speaker 4: lining up with me, I want to beat you. That's
- 9:20Speaker 4: all My mentality is. I'm very confective in anything I do.
- 9:23Speaker 5: So for your endorsements, because I know I made a
- 9:26Speaker 5: lot of your income Puma. It's interesting because it's not Nike,
- 9:31Speaker 5: it's not Adidas.
- 9:34Speaker 7: What made you? Obviously when you were coming up, that might.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Have been the only company I din' But once you
- 9:39Speaker 5: I'm assuming you had offered from every company and might
- 9:42Speaker 5: have even been offered more money. What made you want
- 9:44Speaker 5: to really hold a flag for the Puma brand?
- 9:47Speaker 4: To me, because that's where I start, and I mean
- 9:49Speaker 4: that's where it started when I was I just got
- 9:52Speaker 4: out of high school. That was the first contract I got,
- 9:54Speaker 4: you know what I mean, And that was the person
- 9:56Speaker 4: I worked with, and we kind of just formed the relationship.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Everybody in the company, you know, I mean, from the
- 10:02Speaker 4: top boss down to the little guy who brings me
- 10:05Speaker 4: my stuff. I knew everybody. So after a while, when
- 10:09Speaker 4: Nike Adidas came, I was like, Yo, all right, nah bro,
- 10:13Speaker 4: I'd rather stick with somebody I know, because if anything
- 10:16Speaker 4: goes wrong, I'm sure these people are going to stand
- 10:19Speaker 4: by me, you know what I mean, because we're like
- 10:21Speaker 4: family now, you know what I mean. So with with Nanke,
- 10:24Speaker 4: you have seen as soon as you mess up there
- 10:30Speaker 4: and I've and I've really worked to put all my life.
- 10:34Speaker 4: So I was like, you know what, this is the
- 10:35Speaker 4: company I want to stay until I retire. And even
- 10:38Speaker 4: now that I've retired, that still work with them, you
- 10:39Speaker 4: know what I mean. So's just a long life partnership.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I can imagine the type of bags that Nike and
- 10:47Speaker 4: so to that shows that how loyal are to a company.
- 10:50Speaker 4: But you said early on you said put them with
- 10:53Speaker 4: your first deal. But you weren't great with money, right
- 10:55Speaker 4: because coming from now I have a sponsorship major one
- 11:00Speaker 4: international company. You said your teammates helps you understand money,
- 11:05Speaker 4: So like, who are these teammates and my team? And
- 11:08Speaker 4: now my team my team for me? When I started,
- 11:13Speaker 4: all I always wanted cars and just to guard and
- 11:16Speaker 4: somebody closing that front, you know what I mean. As
- 11:19Speaker 4: you said, when you grew up, he didn't I didn't
- 11:22Speaker 4: have it, you know what I mean. So now have
- 11:23Speaker 4: all his money, you just want to spend and live
- 11:25Speaker 4: and get all the way you couldn't get back in
- 11:28Speaker 4: the days, you know what I mean. But then they
- 11:30Speaker 4: sat me down. Listen, you need to look at all
- 11:32Speaker 4: these athletes showed your life, and they started naming a
- 11:36Speaker 4: few athletes like yo.
- 11:37Speaker 2: This guy's bro, this guy's bro, this guy's bro.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Because all they do they don't think about at some
- 11:43Speaker 4: point you have to retire, you know what I mean.
- 11:45Speaker 2: They don't think about the end product. I mean.
- 11:48Speaker 4: And they kind of just educated me on what's going on.
- 11:51Speaker 4: And that's all I really got smart, you know what
- 11:54Speaker 4: I mean. And as soon as I decided, I was like, Yo,
- 11:56Speaker 4: I'm gonna retire to stay Like Yo, we need to
- 11:58Speaker 4: start puttings in place. Make sure you retired, you have
- 12:01Speaker 4: no problem, you know what I mean. So my team
- 12:03Speaker 4: really opened my eyes to a lot of things. Surprising
- 12:06Speaker 4: to see how much a lot of athletes go broy,
- 12:10Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 12:11Speaker 2: From here today, in no time, I.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Think you kind of set the bother and trying to
- 12:15Speaker 4: feel world because it was like, yeah, we had Carl Lewis,
- 12:18Speaker 4: and we.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Had some prominent athletes, but nobody had done it like you.
- 12:22Speaker 4: And and so my question is now, is like, when
- 12:27Speaker 4: you're looking at the landscape of it and you look
- 12:30Speaker 4: at the impact, do you see stars coming up like
- 12:32Speaker 4: you and and having that type of confidence and that
- 12:34Speaker 4: level of business added from Jamaica.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Well for many well Jamaica for sure.
- 12:39Speaker 4: In Jamaica, I think right now, the cop guys we have,
- 12:44Speaker 4: we have a lot of time, but a lot of
- 12:45Speaker 4: these guys don't the determination and the work drive they
- 12:49Speaker 4: don't have, you know what I mean. Everybody wants to
- 12:51Speaker 4: be great, but they don't know what it takes, you
- 12:54Speaker 4: know what I mean. I've seen I've seen in my
- 12:55Speaker 4: own two eyes, bro like athletes that are so talented
- 12:59Speaker 4: and I go, yeah, this guy's gonna be great, you
- 13:01Speaker 4: know what I mean, But the work ethic when they
- 13:03Speaker 4: come to the track that I'm tired today.
- 13:06Speaker 2: My answerings hurting. It's always excuses, excuses.
- 13:10Speaker 4: I'm like, bro, you can't make you can't make it
- 13:13Speaker 4: if you're going to find excuse every day, you know
- 13:16Speaker 4: what I mean? And I always said to them, listen,
- 13:19Speaker 4: I come on every day. I think I'm tired, but
- 13:22Speaker 4: I know what it takes. So I come here and
- 13:24Speaker 4: I work hard every day and no mind not push myself.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I mean, so right now there's this at least, But
- 13:30Speaker 4: who wants it? That's a question, you know, when you
- 13:32Speaker 4: guys race this is I always change my mind. The
- 13:36Speaker 4: race is are sponsored by companies, But is there a
- 13:39Speaker 4: prize money when you win the race too, because I
- 13:40Speaker 4: know a lot of people make their money sponsorships. But
- 13:42Speaker 4: like when you win an Olympic gold, is it the
- 13:44Speaker 4: look and the doorsems come from winning the goal or
- 13:46Speaker 4: is there an actually cash prize for doing nothing?
- 13:48Speaker 2: So the World Championship comes to the cash prize.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, so you if you win or you break
- 13:53Speaker 4: the world record, you get a cash prize, you.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Get paid.
- 14:01Speaker 4: But at the Olympics it's just it's just a glory,
- 14:04Speaker 4: you know what I mean. And I think it comes
- 14:06Speaker 4: because if you're in the Olympics, then sponsorship, so you
- 14:09Speaker 4: still get paid, but not like the World Championships.
- 14:12Speaker 7: And that was the big thing. It was supposed to
- 14:14Speaker 7: be amateur.
- 14:15Speaker 5: And that's why for a long time NBA players or
- 14:17Speaker 5: professional athletes, because it's supposed to be all for amateurs.
- 14:21Speaker 7: But it's like that was so stupid, Like obviously it's
- 14:23Speaker 7: not amateurs. You got the best athletes world.
- 14:26Speaker 4: It's like it's still stupid though it's still really simple
- 14:29Speaker 4: to know that you don't get paid for the Olympics.
- 14:32Speaker 4: We talked about a few athletes are like yo, this boy.
- 14:35Speaker 4: I was like, you know what I mean, in my
- 14:40Speaker 4: time at least we were talking about.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I was like, I'm not doing that.
- 14:43Speaker 5: That's crazy, like you said, I mean, it's coverage all
- 14:47Speaker 5: over the.
- 14:48Speaker 2: World, exactly, sponsorship and they get paid.
- 14:50Speaker 5: And so there's money that's coming into the Olympics, a
- 14:52Speaker 5: lot of money with Olympics without athletes.
- 14:56Speaker 4: There's a lot of money coming in to I'm the
- 15:00Speaker 4: Olympics because they're sponsors and the figures that they around
- 15:04Speaker 4: sponsored Olympics because it goes worldwide, I mean, and there's
- 15:07Speaker 4: so much events and exactly, so they get paid.
- 15:12Speaker 2: We don't get paid, but they get paid, like the
- 15:14Speaker 2: bow and the college.
- 15:19Speaker 4: What I'm just saying, right right right, there's a lot
- 15:20Speaker 4: of money that used to come in.
- 15:22Speaker 2: No one to get paid.
- 15:23Speaker 4: I mean, that's what I'm saying like the Super Bowl,
- 15:25Speaker 4: like we talked about the second episode, it was like
- 15:28Speaker 4: people pay for their halftime performance and you don't get
- 15:31Speaker 4: paid for doing it.
- 15:32Speaker 2: But the look at one point one hundred million people watching,
- 15:36Speaker 2: you will come for that.
- 15:37Speaker 5: But let's talk about this because if you're not like
- 15:40Speaker 5: a track and field you might not understand the dynamics
- 15:42Speaker 5: about work. So the Diamond League first, the World Championships,
- 15:46Speaker 5: So can you tell you the Diamond gets people that.
- 15:49Speaker 4: So dominantly is just like football, like a random football game,
- 15:53Speaker 4: you know what I mean, like the NFL game, So
- 15:56Speaker 4: every Sunday have a normal football game.
- 15:58Speaker 2: So Dominantly is like that. As you go, yeah, that's
- 16:02Speaker 2: in Europe.
- 16:02Speaker 4: It's a different places they have, like say fourteen and
- 16:05Speaker 4: it's in different places of the work, so different time
- 16:09Speaker 4: of the year and stuff like So you just go,
- 16:11Speaker 4: you compete and you get prize money and stuff like that.
- 16:15Speaker 4: And then the World Championship is like when you compete
- 16:17Speaker 4: with your country, you know what I mean, It's similar
- 16:20Speaker 4: to the but but it's just for track and field.
- 16:24Speaker 5: So but the Diamondleague you make way more money if
- 16:27Speaker 5: you win.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, No, the World Chap if you are right,
- 16:38Speaker 4: So you get prize money, which is standard, you know
- 16:41Speaker 4: what I mean, But it depends on who you are.
- 16:44Speaker 2: You get appearance feed.
- 16:46Speaker 4: I mean, so if you're a Me or Shelley and Fraserer,
- 16:50Speaker 4: Tyson Gear or whatever, they pay you a certain money.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Everybody price is different, you know what I mean, because
- 16:56Speaker 4: who's drawing the crowd, that's what they pay you for.
- 16:58Speaker 4: So I'm showing them the cool saying it's coming, it's
- 17:01Speaker 4: spread out, it's going to be full, you know what
- 17:02Speaker 4: I mean. But the regular guys come in, they give
- 17:04Speaker 4: you less money. So it's like, exactly.
- 17:08Speaker 7: You might be worth a million dollars, somebody else might
- 17:10Speaker 7: be worth.
- 17:10Speaker 2: One hundred thousands the entirety exactly. That doesn't go by race.
- 17:14Speaker 4: So like when you do the one hundred to surprised
- 17:16Speaker 4: two hundred four by one and they are splitting that
- 17:18Speaker 4: four ways out of that work, yeah, four by ones.
- 17:22Speaker 4: You don't need have four by ones. In the domin league,
- 17:24Speaker 4: it's always individual races like one hundred meters two hundred
- 17:27Speaker 4: might be fifteen undred, but every dominant legue to trying
- 17:30Speaker 4: to mix it up and do different races and different dominague.
- 17:34Speaker 5: So it's not the same thing. So like you are,
- 17:36Speaker 5: you know, at anomaly because you're so successful. But I
- 17:39Speaker 5: assuming most track athletes aren't really making that much money.
- 17:43Speaker 5: So how do you what do you think a solution
- 17:46Speaker 5: to that can be to make more profitable.
- 17:49Speaker 2: We have talked about this a lot.
- 17:52Speaker 4: It needs to change the format of track and field,
- 17:55Speaker 4: you know what I mean, because it's not excited. If
- 17:58Speaker 4: you could get it like soccer, or you guys call
- 18:00Speaker 4: it like soccer, you know what I mean. Where is
- 18:03Speaker 4: a team where you own a team and then you transfer,
- 18:07Speaker 4: then it's to be exciting because then you run heavery
- 18:09Speaker 4: other week and it's like a team like Jamaican team
- 18:13Speaker 4: is gonna win. So people look forward to seeing and
- 18:16Speaker 4: support the team. But it's just individuals, you know what
- 18:18Speaker 4: I mean. And I love these guys. They don't have
- 18:21Speaker 4: the energy and the flair and fun, so it's kind
- 18:23Speaker 4: of boring.
- 18:24Speaker 2: You know.
- 18:24Speaker 4: But you need to build the sports to the point
- 18:27Speaker 4: where people want to watch it, you know what I mean.
- 18:29Speaker 4: And I feel like if they really do it like
- 18:32Speaker 4: of soccer team type of shit, it'd be good. Did
- 18:35Speaker 4: you go in because when you're talking about making it
- 18:37Speaker 4: fun and having flair, you went into it doing that,
- 18:41Speaker 4: having the lighting bold and doing the eyebrow raise and
- 18:43Speaker 4: dancing and yeah, I was always something I've always done,
- 18:48Speaker 4: you know what I mean. If you watch me back
- 18:49Speaker 4: in the days when I want were Juna's here, a
- 18:52Speaker 4: salute to the crowd and everything, it's just a vibe
- 18:54Speaker 4: just what you know, I mean, just why I'm as
- 18:57Speaker 4: a person that I just keep doing that, you know
- 18:59Speaker 4: what I mean?
- 19:00Speaker 2: But I just love it.
- 19:01Speaker 4: And after a while I saw people like they really
- 19:04Speaker 4: enjoyed me performance.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Let's do this and.
- 19:09Speaker 4: It's the proudest thing because like when you see you
- 19:11Speaker 4: doing this and like being in America but knowing like
- 19:14Speaker 4: the heritage is making.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I was about to smoke them. They'd be like, what
- 19:18Speaker 2: do you mean now?
- 19:21Speaker 5: Like that out well, but that's part of branding too though,
- 19:25Speaker 5: It's like it made you bigger. Like we interviewed Shack,
- 19:27Speaker 5: he was like he understood that he had to be
- 19:29Speaker 5: bigger than just a basketball player.
- 19:31Speaker 7: That's why a lot of the commercial and now he
- 19:32Speaker 7: became Shack.
- 19:33Speaker 5: So I was like, when I see you're doing like
- 19:34Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying this morning, just running a race,
- 19:36Speaker 5: like now you're you're a superstar from all the other
- 19:40Speaker 5: stuff that you do.
- 19:40Speaker 4: I'm trying to explain to a lot of people that's
- 19:43Speaker 4: the same to it, Like, bro, yeah I run fast,
- 19:45Speaker 4: but people love my personality of who I am. This
- 19:49Speaker 4: is why I make the money, you know what I mean,
- 19:51Speaker 4: because a lot of people running fast before me, but
- 19:56Speaker 4: I brought my personality with me. That that's how people
- 19:59Speaker 4: are like, oh my god, it's pretty cool. I like you,
- 20:00Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 20:01Speaker 2: They want to get to know you and talk to
- 20:03Speaker 2: you and and vibe you know what I mean.
- 20:04Speaker 4: And I've explained to a lot of these athletes, but
- 20:06Speaker 4: a lot they don't get it, you know.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Yeah sometimes.
- 20:17Speaker 5: So let's talk about this restaurant business. So you're a
- 20:20Speaker 5: restaurant to a were in your restaurant right now, tracks
- 20:22Speaker 5: and records. So I was reading you actually telling us
- 20:26Speaker 5: that the goal is to actually expand this. So how
- 20:29Speaker 5: did you get started in the restaurant business and how
- 20:33Speaker 5: has it been going since?
- 20:34Speaker 7: You know obviously Corona.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Most of my my things is like the person's approach
- 20:40Speaker 4: me there, the k approach man. They're like, yo, would
- 20:44Speaker 4: you be cool to be in the restaurant? I was like, yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 4: you know what I mean, that's something good to happen,
- 20:50Speaker 4: you know. I mean that's how it really got started.
- 20:52Speaker 4: And then when we got this one, people was coming
- 20:55Speaker 4: there like yo, I love this. You should should do
- 20:57Speaker 4: more and do it to around the island. So we
- 20:59Speaker 4: got one the old and then we have wanted Montego
- 21:02Speaker 4: and then people are like, yo, you should take it overseas,
- 21:05Speaker 4: and then we started franchising, so we didn't want to Dondon.
- 21:08Speaker 4: But then after that we started talking to other people.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Then Corona started and then he kind of just still
- 21:14Speaker 4: ship down. But it's going.
- 21:15Speaker 8: Good because what came about here. Listen to New York
- 21:19Speaker 8: Brooklyn specific bros. I've talked to the one about coming
- 21:24Speaker 8: to America. So if you're asking, yes, we did spoke.
- 21:27Speaker 5: To That's interesting because it's like I feel like Jamaican
- 21:31Speaker 5: people live in Jamaica. Obviously they live in Brooklyn, they
- 21:35Speaker 5: live in Toronto, Canada, and they live in London. Yea,
- 21:38Speaker 5: that's like four places ready in Florida. Oh, so it
- 21:45Speaker 5: is the plan to like really take over those different Toronto.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Over because we were supposed to get one time. That's
- 21:51Speaker 4: the other person that we were talking to. But as
- 21:54Speaker 4: I said, as soon as Corona, everything got shut down,
- 21:57Speaker 4: you know what I mean. But it's all about who
- 22:00Speaker 4: because it's franchise. Anybody wants, they can hit us up
- 22:03Speaker 4: and we figure it out, you know what I mean.
- 22:05Speaker 4: So I'm just trying to put it out there just
- 22:07Speaker 4: to be great, and I mean they're trying to leave
- 22:09Speaker 4: a legacy.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Both the idea behind having a franchise and not just
- 22:13Speaker 5: doing it yourself in different locations, less work for you
- 22:15Speaker 5: and just kind.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Of yeas work, you know, to make the money with
- 22:20Speaker 4: less work, it's always better, you know what I mean. So,
- 22:23Speaker 4: but it's something that we know that people love, you
- 22:25Speaker 4: know what I mean. And everywhere you go, first thing,
- 22:27Speaker 4: a lot of people you always there any Jamaican restaurant around,
- 22:30Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So for me, if I
- 22:31Speaker 4: could get trucks and records out there.
- 22:34Speaker 2: That was my dream.
- 22:34Speaker 4: You know, That's something that I was like, you know,
- 22:36Speaker 4: this could be big because as you said, the franchise
- 22:39Speaker 4: and McDonald's, KFC, all these different people, you see it,
- 22:43Speaker 4: if I could get to that level retired the restaurant
- 22:50Speaker 4: game down, but it is getting Dorset. So one of
- 22:53Speaker 4: the most interesting ones I saw was Peloton. So it's
- 22:57Speaker 4: kind of a double sword because obviously when you wake up,
- 23:00Speaker 4: you work out, but now they've created like a workout
- 23:03Speaker 4: for you. But I know music is something, so I'm
- 23:05Speaker 4: thinking like, hey, maybe the music would be there. You
- 23:07Speaker 4: talk about how Peloton came about, how they did they
- 23:09Speaker 4: approach you? Yeah, they approached me. For me, I actually
- 23:14Speaker 4: got my Peloton before. Peloton's wrong because when I retired,
- 23:18Speaker 4: I was like, yo, I can't be bothered to go
- 23:20Speaker 4: to the gym every day to go to the track again,
- 23:22Speaker 4: because I've been doing that all my life, you know
- 23:24Speaker 4: what I mean.
- 23:25Speaker 2: So I was actually watching just watching TV on them
- 23:28Speaker 2: and popped up. I was like, what is this on.
- 23:30Speaker 4: That research that I was like, you know what, I'm
- 23:32Speaker 4: gonna get one. That's how I got a peloton. So
- 23:34Speaker 4: I just put it right in my room and that
- 23:36Speaker 4: was good on that thirty minutes today and you're good,
- 23:39Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So that's how I started.
- 23:41Speaker 4: But then the approach me, They're like, yo, we'd like
- 23:43Speaker 4: to sponsor you. I was like, yoh cool, Yeah for sure,
- 23:47Speaker 4: I actually use it. I'm good at it, you know
- 23:49Speaker 4: what I mean. So that's how anything I started.
- 23:52Speaker 5: It's one thing to be a superstar athlete. There's another
- 23:56Speaker 5: thing to be the face of a country like Drake
- 23:59Speaker 5: is Ca.
- 24:00Speaker 7: Yeah, You're in the face of Jamaica. Like, how has
- 24:03Speaker 7: that been?
- 24:04Speaker 5: Like I feel like the biggest person in Jamaica since
- 24:07Speaker 5: Bob Marley And obviously it's a lot of responsibility, I'm assuming,
- 24:12Speaker 5: But how is that and.
- 24:15Speaker 7: How has your role in the country grown as an
- 24:18Speaker 7: ambassador for me?
- 24:21Speaker 4: For me, I just try to represent my country the
- 24:22Speaker 4: best I can anywhere I go into I do, you
- 24:25Speaker 4: know what I mean. We always think about making sure
- 24:27Speaker 4: that Yo, we think about the country anything given way
- 24:31Speaker 4: we're doing our shoots and whatever we say, Yo, we
- 24:34Speaker 4: don't like this, it's not going to show good on Jamaica.
- 24:37Speaker 4: And know I mean, so for me, I've always had
- 24:40Speaker 4: that to the back of my mind because I've been
- 24:43Speaker 4: representing Jamaica since I was like fourteen, you know what
- 24:47Speaker 4: I mean, and it has all gotten bigger and for me,
- 24:50Speaker 4: I enjoy being an ambassador for the country.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I mean, everywhere I go, people show.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Me hell love, you know what I mean, even people
- 24:56Speaker 4: from overseas like, yo, oh well thanks for doing this.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Anywhere I go where I now, I'm from Jamaica, hell
- 25:01Speaker 2: of love, you know. For me. I appreciate I love it.
- 25:05Speaker 7: I love it and talking about that because it's like
- 25:07Speaker 7: just Jamaicans all over the world and it's one.
- 25:10Speaker 5: Of these things no matter where you go is Jamaicans
- 25:13Speaker 5: beer and they're very supportive. So how has that been
- 25:16Speaker 5: traveling around the world and having people with the Jamaican
- 25:18Speaker 5: flag and all over Europe and America and everywhere.
- 25:22Speaker 4: It's the best thing anywhere you go. You're always fun
- 25:24Speaker 4: to Jamaica anywhere in the world, you know what I mean.
- 25:28Speaker 2: You're surprised.
- 25:28Speaker 4: I go to I went to Mexico for the Vision
- 25:30Speaker 4: and Cabo, and it was that guys like yo, I'm
- 25:33Speaker 4: from Jamaica. And then he started talking podcasts like cool,
- 25:40Speaker 4: but they're over here. But they always show me love
- 25:42Speaker 4: and they always tell me times. So it feels good,
- 25:44Speaker 4: you know, times to doing so good. You really put
- 25:47Speaker 4: us on in my pinion, make us feel so proud
- 25:49Speaker 4: and good. So something that I really appreciate that love,
- 25:52Speaker 4: you know, And you said that you've never because I
- 25:54Speaker 4: was surprised myself. I'm like, oh, so you get to Miami.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Do you have a place in Miami? He said, no,
- 26:00Speaker 4: Jamaica's love. I don't have any ambition to go anywhere else.
- 26:05Speaker 4: It's it's just it's just I just love Jamaica. And
- 26:08Speaker 4: I mean when I started out, I hate the That's
- 26:11Speaker 4: the first thing. Okay, I hate it. Where that's cool
- 26:14Speaker 4: with it, I hate it, you know what I mean.
- 26:16Speaker 4: So because I got offers to go to college like
- 26:20Speaker 4: every other Jamaican, yeah, I was like, no, Texas, I
- 26:25Speaker 4: want to stay. I want to stay in Jamaica. So
- 26:29Speaker 4: that's something that that's when it started. And from then
- 26:32Speaker 4: I've never really said, yo, you know what, I want
- 26:34Speaker 4: to place anywhere else.
- 26:35Speaker 2: It's just I just always want to come back home.
- 26:37Speaker 5: So coming up and being a track superstar, what's the
- 26:43Speaker 5: process as far as like getting an agent and manager?
- 26:48Speaker 5: Because I'm assuming, like you know, you just had to
- 26:51Speaker 5: learn a lot of stuff on your own, right, did
- 26:53Speaker 5: your coaches, like in primary training you with that.
- 26:58Speaker 7: Or did you just kind of like figure that out?
- 27:00Speaker 2: You know?
- 27:00Speaker 4: So as soon as you get the professional But that's
- 27:03Speaker 4: the first thing, you have to get an agent, you
- 27:04Speaker 4: know what I mean.
- 27:05Speaker 2: So in Jamaica, there was a few people that everybody knows,
- 27:09Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 27:09Speaker 4: So you kind of ask and say, yo, who's the
- 27:11Speaker 4: good aj who works with who you know what I mean.
- 27:14Speaker 4: And that's how I got my agent, Rickie Simps. He's
- 27:18Speaker 4: paid sports management and from then on we just work
- 27:22Speaker 4: good together. And one of the reasons I stay with
- 27:25Speaker 4: him even when I started out, he always.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Treat me the same way like everybody else.
- 27:31Speaker 4: He gives everybody respects to make sure you get pickups
- 27:34Speaker 4: and you always get the information, so you know who's
- 27:36Speaker 4: going to pick you up, what time is your flight,
- 27:39Speaker 4: how much money you're gonna make, everything, you get all
- 27:41Speaker 4: the information. I like how professionally was when I worked
- 27:45Speaker 4: with him and with my manager. I had a manager
- 27:49Speaker 4: that my parents actually found that I used to work with.
- 27:52Speaker 4: And after a while, I'm best friend MJ that sings
- 27:56Speaker 4: the music. He he he finished college because he's a
- 28:02Speaker 4: trained teacher. When he finished college, I was like, yo, bro,
- 28:05Speaker 4: what do you do? He's like, I got to find
- 28:07Speaker 4: a work and teacher. I was like, you know what,
- 28:09Speaker 4: come work for me, you know what I mean, because
- 28:11Speaker 4: I trust you and I know you're going to have
- 28:12Speaker 4: my back one hundred percent, you know what I mean.
- 28:14Speaker 4: And he was like, Yo, but I don't know anything,
- 28:16Speaker 4: you know. I was like, just just learn, bro, But
- 28:19Speaker 4: He's like, all right, cool, and he started and he
- 28:21Speaker 4: worked in my out of manager for like two years,
- 28:24Speaker 4: and after that he just took over.
- 28:25Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 28:26Speaker 4: I feel like that's Lebron you didn't know, come with
- 28:30Speaker 4: me agent, and eventually you become the exactly that's dope.
- 28:35Speaker 4: So when when somebody wants to approach agent or NJ
- 28:37Speaker 4: about my sponsorship or partnership, what is it like? Does
- 28:41Speaker 4: it have to be aligned with something that you're doing already?
- 28:44Speaker 4: It was like, oh, that's a great creative I did.
- 28:46Speaker 4: But I mean, I feel like you were born to
- 28:48Speaker 4: be there, Like the last thing. Both tracks get rate.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Now we got the boat scooters perfect.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Don't think the race for me.
- 29:00Speaker 4: So for me, it's it's it's we We do try
- 29:05Speaker 4: to pick proper brands, you know what I mean, because
- 29:08Speaker 4: you know, you try to align yourself because you're trying
- 29:10Speaker 4: to put yourself out there because the more sponsor, the
- 29:12Speaker 4: more the more sponsor's.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Going to see it, you know what I mean. So
- 29:16Speaker 2: we do try to align ourselves with like proper brands.
- 29:18Speaker 4: We don't just grab every cash that comes along, you
- 29:21Speaker 4: know what I mean, Because the better brands that you're
- 29:24Speaker 4: with the more people want to work with you, you
- 29:27Speaker 4: know what I mean.
- 29:28Speaker 2: That's what we have learned over the years, you know
- 29:30Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 29:30Speaker 4: So we just keep on rolling, keep on putting our commercials,
- 29:34Speaker 4: keep on keep going up, you know what I mean.
- 29:37Speaker 5: Yourself talk about the motibility of the electric scooter.
- 29:43Speaker 7: That's interesting. I had that come about.
- 29:45Speaker 4: It's actually my my, my, my agent, Gina Ford from
- 29:50Speaker 4: the US, because I have a US agent and Europe
- 29:56Speaker 4: like NJ runs off Jamaica, but I have somebody in
- 29:59Speaker 4: the US and then Europe Brooky, my agent, Key actually
- 30:03Speaker 4: takes care of There is no because everybody information is
- 30:08Speaker 4: on my website.
- 30:09Speaker 2: So do you want to contact somebody, you contacted, you
- 30:12Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 30:13Speaker 4: And if somebody from the States hit talk to Gina,
- 30:17Speaker 4: she does the States stuff, you know what I mean.
- 30:18Speaker 4: So everybody's on the same page. But so when Gina
- 30:22Speaker 4: hit me up and he goes, Yo, these guys want
- 30:24Speaker 4: to start voting, schooling, but they want to gain it,
- 30:27Speaker 4: but school, So what do you want to do outside?
- 30:29Speaker 2: That's easy. Yeah, that's how they information. That's how it
- 30:34Speaker 2: really got started.
- 30:35Speaker 4: And then we sat down with them and we talked
- 30:37Speaker 4: and they shared the ideas and we're like, yo, let's
- 30:40Speaker 4: do it, you know what I mean.
- 30:41Speaker 2: And that's how we got it done.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Deals come like people might have already something and they
- 30:46Speaker 5: want you to kind of be a part of it.
- 30:48Speaker 7: They bring it to you.
- 30:52Speaker 2: And go, yeah sure, Now I'm not with that, you
- 30:55Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 30:55Speaker 4: So it's all about different different branding and how we
- 30:59Speaker 4: see our and the brands working together.
- 31:01Speaker 5: You know, at what point did you so I'm assuming
- 31:03Speaker 5: the companies you have equity in these companies, when did
- 31:05Speaker 5: you start moving over like, you know what, I'll rock
- 31:08Speaker 5: with this out, I'll endorse it, but I need to
- 31:09Speaker 5: be an owner and I just don't just pay me anything.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 31:13Speaker 4: I think it was later on in our career we're like,
- 31:17Speaker 4: you know what, we need to start taking like cash,
- 31:20Speaker 4: you know what I mean, and get some equity because
- 31:22Speaker 4: a lot of these companies are getting bigger and bigger
- 31:24Speaker 4: and bigger, you know I mean, and your your level
- 31:27Speaker 4: is going to only go up. So we decided that
- 31:29Speaker 4: end that, you know what, and when the right companies
- 31:32Speaker 4: come comes along and offer you like to pay that. Now,
- 31:35Speaker 4: give me some equity in this and are we good?
- 31:38Speaker 4: I'll run all the commercials you want paid.
- 31:41Speaker 2: You know what I mean. So it's we just learned,
- 31:45Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And just like the music,
- 31:46Speaker 2: now we just take our time and figure it out.
- 31:48Speaker 4: So is that the play now not even to play,
- 31:50Speaker 4: but that is that strategy. Now we're going to take
- 31:52Speaker 4: less cash up on more athletes. Right companies, the right companies, right.

- 33:49Speaker 9: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 33:53Speaker 9: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from l Salvador
- 33:57Speaker 9: accused of murdering a Texas man. Is z Whalen, charged
- 34:01Speaker 9: with filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are
- 34:05Speaker 9: just some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of
- 34:08Speaker 9: President Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the United
- 34:12Speaker 9: States Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal
- 34:17Speaker 9: border crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and
- 34:20Speaker 9: over one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If
- 34:24Speaker 9: you are here illegally, your next you will be fine
- 34:27Speaker 9: nearly one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned and deported, you
- 34:32Speaker 9: will never return. But if you register using our CBP
- 34:35Speaker 9: home app and leave now, you could be allowed to
- 34:38Speaker 9: return legally. Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump,
- 34:43Speaker 9: America's laws, border and families will be protected.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security. You
- 34:49Speaker 2: gotta do your research. You do your research, any doctor, you.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Know what thinking not like we need to leave the cash,
- 34:55Speaker 4: but at the end of the day, we can tadi
- 34:57Speaker 4: equity in the long runs, bigger, I got your kids, No, bro,
- 35:00Speaker 4: I gotta think about future.
- 35:05Speaker 2: That's what great strategy. Yeah, just.
- 35:10Speaker 5: I saw you getting into real estate also a building
- 35:12Speaker 5: in Kingston. Yeah, what what's the deal with that?
- 35:16Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 35:16Speaker 4: For me as you said, we're just trying to find
- 35:19Speaker 4: just the person. The portfolio. It can be as big
- 35:23Speaker 4: as it possibly can be, you know what I mean.
- 35:25Speaker 4: And when we started to have two buildings and I'm
- 35:27Speaker 4: working on trying to get another one, you know what
- 35:29Speaker 4: I mean. But again, Corona, Bro, Yeah, it was everything
- 35:32Speaker 4: now so is everything now. But for me, growing up
- 35:36Speaker 4: and learning about real estate was the biggest thing in
- 35:39Speaker 4: people that getting houses and stuffy assets. So that's the
- 35:43Speaker 4: way to go, you know what I mean. So you've
- 35:45Speaker 4: got the chance to purchase my first building. I was
- 35:48Speaker 4: kind of nervous. I was like, bro, that's a lot
- 35:49Speaker 4: of money, you know what I mean. And I was
- 35:52Speaker 4: like yeah, But at the end of the days, I said,
- 35:54Speaker 4: they will stay with you forever and it only.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Grows, you know what I mean. So I was like,
- 35:58Speaker 2: you know, all right, do it.
- 35:59Speaker 4: And after I saw the way it was turning the
- 36:02Speaker 4: money off us, I you know, it just continuing, continue working.
- 36:08Speaker 4: I feel like real estate is interesting and Mats Maxwell
- 36:11Speaker 4: said the suits He's from Jamaica and wants to come
- 36:14Speaker 4: back and through real estate here. But a lot of
- 36:16Speaker 4: times if you drive around and see these houses that
- 36:19Speaker 4: are baking, they started and they never finished.
- 36:21Speaker 2: And it goes a lot to having the team and
- 36:23Speaker 2: having the right people around.
- 36:25Speaker 4: So if somebody organizing the team for you, or is
- 36:27Speaker 4: it everything set you saying do you want to be involved?
- 36:30Speaker 2: How's that going?
- 36:31Speaker 4: And everything goes through an engine you know? For me
- 36:36Speaker 4: is he has made my life My best friend has
- 36:39Speaker 4: made my life ways or you know what I mean?
- 36:41Speaker 4: Because with him, he feel it tells us out all
- 36:45Speaker 4: the span before he gets to me.
- 36:46Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 36:47Speaker 4: He knows any time he sits me now and say, yo,
- 36:50Speaker 4: this is what we're doing. I know from the start
- 36:52Speaker 4: that yo, we're gonna do.
- 36:53Speaker 2: This is what we're doing. You know what I mean?
- 36:54Speaker 2: Because he doesn't bring nothing.
- 36:57Speaker 4: Stupid as soon as he puts it on, all right,
- 36:59Speaker 4: what we're doing, you know what I mean, let me
- 37:03Speaker 4: clap it up, you know, yeah, yeah seriously because they've
- 37:13Speaker 4: been friends like I was treated the result, So he's
- 37:17Speaker 4: always been a part of my life and you're cool
- 37:19Speaker 4: that trust one hundred percent. So so you make sure
- 37:22Speaker 4: everything is good, everything goes through it no matter what
- 37:25Speaker 4: I'm doing. I'm like, yeah, cool, cool talk to Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 5: It's important to have that system in place, so you
- 37:31Speaker 5: don't have to do everything yourself exactly. Even Rickross talking
- 37:35Speaker 5: about it, but his mother and his sister. So you're
- 37:38Speaker 5: do empowered to people around you. That's a common thing.
- 37:41Speaker 5: Empowered people around you. And now it's not like somebody
- 37:43Speaker 5: is looking for you to give them money. They actually
- 37:45Speaker 5: earning money because they performing the service. They're helping your economy.
- 37:48Speaker 5: You're helping the economy, and that's really high. Sure, let
- 37:52Speaker 5: me ask you this about the music.
- 37:54Speaker 2: So the next So you're an artist, a producer.
- 38:00Speaker 7: Executive.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Putting it out, put it out?
- 38:06Speaker 7: Yes, so yeah, so let's talk about that. What inspired that?
- 38:09Speaker 7: Because from what I'm hearing, that's kind of like the
- 38:12Speaker 7: vision to kind.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Of be like what the calid is right where it's
- 38:15Speaker 5: like you bring artists together as your favor so on.
- 38:19Speaker 7: So what inspired that? We are with the music right now.
- 38:22Speaker 2: So if you if you follow my career, you know
- 38:25Speaker 2: the music and dancing is my thing. I love that.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I'm always dancing. I'm always playing music.
- 38:31Speaker 4: I usually DJ once like after every party, after every
- 38:35Speaker 4: like meat that diamond meat, I would they whatever, like
- 38:39Speaker 4: after party, I would bring my laptop and DJ for everybody,
- 38:42Speaker 4: you know what I mean. And it's something that I've
- 38:45Speaker 4: loved as I always think the n J yo, we
- 38:47Speaker 4: should really drop the track, you know what I mean
- 38:49Speaker 4: and do something, and it's like we always laugh about it,
- 38:52Speaker 4: so I don't. I worked with Mum Champagne and they
- 38:57Speaker 4: did a Champagne for me, you know what I mean.
- 39:00Speaker 4: And that's what we really got to. He's like, yo,
- 39:02Speaker 4: you know, we should do drop a riding with the
- 39:05Speaker 4: champagne when we launch it. And that's exactly what we did.
- 39:08Speaker 4: It's called Olympiros Olympiros and that's how we got refreshting
- 39:14Speaker 4: and the.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Vibe that we thought was like he was a vibe.
- 39:18Speaker 4: And then like now in the Corona time, we weren't
- 39:21Speaker 4: doing much. We're always here like you know what, let's
- 39:23Speaker 4: just do it. And that's how we really got into music.
- 39:26Speaker 2: For you. We just start making started doing different things
- 39:30Speaker 2: and he was like sing.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Was like, bro, I'm not a singer, so you want
- 39:35Speaker 4: to you can sing, you know what I mean. I
- 39:38Speaker 4: want to be like a DJ categy you know what
- 39:40Speaker 4: I mean, just a vibe guy, that energy guy that gets.
- 39:42Speaker 2: It pump, you know what I mean.
- 39:44Speaker 7: Yeah, so it's a goal to have a record label.
- 39:47Speaker 4: Yeah, we do have record now we haven't signed in
- 39:54Speaker 4: by for me what I'm working on. We talked about
- 39:57Speaker 4: we're just trying to get inside the door, you know what.
- 39:59Speaker 4: I'm because people now that outside people don't really take
- 40:02Speaker 4: me seriously. I want to talk about that because I'm thinking, like,
- 40:05Speaker 4: you're the face of a country, right, You're the face
- 40:08Speaker 4: of the country. We dance a Reggae is the music
- 40:11Speaker 4: of the country. But when you try to reach out
- 40:13Speaker 4: to artists, it was like, listen, I got to do
- 40:19Speaker 4: it at this and I'm thinking to myself, you know what.
- 40:21Speaker 5: That's not really surprising if you look at in America
- 40:25Speaker 5: when Shaq was rapping Kobe, Nobody to Kobe series.
- 40:29Speaker 4: Because they're not the face of the country, you know
- 40:31Speaker 4: what I mean. These guys are superstars. I'm just saying,
- 40:34Speaker 4: but there's nobody figure than this guy. I think you
- 40:36Speaker 4: have to prove yourself and that music out. Yeah, they
- 40:39Speaker 4: probably look at it like they dedicate their whole life
- 40:41Speaker 4: to music. Yeah, but they just want to see that.
- 40:43Speaker 2: But I'm not. I'm not singing them.
- 40:45Speaker 4: It's like the guy, Yeah, I mean, you know what
- 40:48Speaker 4: I mean, I'm making I'm just getting the beats and
- 40:51Speaker 4: I'm trying to produce you because I love music, you
- 40:53Speaker 4: know what I mean, and I don't want to do it.
- 40:55Speaker 4: So at the start, I called people like, yeah, they
- 40:59Speaker 4: sent me to them, We get it done, and then
- 41:02Speaker 4: you call them back. Hey, yeah, next to me, you
- 41:04Speaker 4: call them back. I was like, I'm not doing this,
- 41:06Speaker 4: you know what I mean. People want no, like really know.
- 41:10Speaker 4: I was like, yo, all right, we'll do it, you
- 41:12Speaker 4: know what I mean. But I have to prove myself
- 41:15Speaker 4: and I'm not cool if I need to continue making music,
- 41:18Speaker 4: but I want to get my foot in the door.
- 41:21Speaker 4: And then I started signing people, you know what I mean,
- 41:23Speaker 4: because it makes no sense. I signed somebody now and
- 41:27Speaker 4: no matter how much music I put up, he ain't
- 41:29Speaker 4: going nowhere. So we made I do music with my
- 41:32Speaker 4: friends and my close people and Jason's and stuff that.
- 41:35Speaker 4: So I make my core people I work with and
- 41:40Speaker 4: just continue producing songs, making videos. But now even now
- 41:44Speaker 4: a few of them because they see what we're doing,
- 41:46Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So now people will.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Call when you're doing that. When you do that next
- 41:51Speaker 2: really hit me up, you know what I mean. I'm like,
- 41:54Speaker 2: all right, cool, And that's a good part because.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Now people are really all right, cool, he's really seriou
- 42:00Speaker 4: somebody to listen and watch what he's doing. You said that, TJ, TJ.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Why so is the vibs producer?
- 42:06Speaker 2: Yeah? Did he give you advice and to get into
- 42:10Speaker 2: this game and like, look, don't take a person get worse?
- 42:13Speaker 2: Like what was his goal in your well me? Well, yeah,
- 42:17Speaker 2: but DJ is been somebody that we know for a minute,
- 42:20Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 42:21Speaker 4: And he's always gonna anything you want to know, you
- 42:25Speaker 4: can call and say, yo, listen, this is what we're
- 42:27Speaker 4: going to do.
- 42:27Speaker 2: What you think you know what I mean, because he's
- 42:28Speaker 2: been doing this for a minute, you know what I mean.
- 42:30Speaker 4: So he's the one that guides usn't help us along
- 42:34Speaker 4: the way, you know what I mean, and say, Yo,
- 42:36Speaker 4: don't do this, don't do that, you know what I mean,
- 42:38Speaker 4: try to sinstead, you know.
- 42:39Speaker 2: And so it's really helped us just to grow.
- 42:41Speaker 4: And that's what we need, you know what I mean,
- 42:43Speaker 4: somebody to guide that's to make sure you don't make
- 42:47Speaker 4: saying mistake they made back in the days. And that's
- 42:49Speaker 4: what It's always the key that you listen because somebody's
- 42:52Speaker 4: in the business for a while and doing great. There's
- 42:54Speaker 4: a reason why he's there, you know what I mean.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Let me ask you this, Let's have this music conversation.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Dancehall and reggae. A lot of people outside of the
- 43:03Speaker 4: coach you don't fully understand. They think everything is reggae.
- 43:07Speaker 4: What there's a difference?
- 43:09Speaker 5: Can you can you kind of talk about the difference
- 43:11Speaker 5: and which which one of you leaning towards with with
- 43:13Speaker 5: your musical preference.
- 43:15Speaker 2: For me, a so, danceall is at the hardcore like
- 43:19Speaker 2: are going in Yeah, like party you know what I mean.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Yeah, reggae is like more like Bars Hammond and that's
- 43:28Speaker 4: you know, I mean the nice smooth song culture culture music.
- 43:32Speaker 2: That's reggae, you know what I mean. So's it's two
- 43:34Speaker 2: separate things.
- 43:35Speaker 4: But right now it's dance all because reggae people in
- 43:39Speaker 4: Jamaica now you have a few hours, like you have coffee,
- 43:42Speaker 4: is doing like regger music, you know what I mean,
- 43:45Speaker 4: and a few other guys, I mean what they do.
- 43:48Speaker 4: But it's really hardcore dance that people listening to, you
- 43:51Speaker 4: know what I mean, that's what they want to hear.
- 43:53Speaker 4: So you just got to get the people what they
- 43:54Speaker 4: want to hear, you know what I mean. But for
- 43:57Speaker 4: sure in the future, will definitely do some more songs.
- 44:01Speaker 4: I mean with chronics and all these guys, you know
- 44:03Speaker 4: what I mean, we do reggae. But right now it's
- 44:05Speaker 4: just mainly like dance.
- 44:07Speaker 2: So how this is important too? Right?
- 44:11Speaker 4: You got non gold medals, the music pops off, you
- 44:15Speaker 4: want to grin which one of you, which one is
- 44:20Speaker 4: going above? Then it's always going to be my gold medals. Metals, Yeah,
- 44:25Speaker 4: I think, yeah, it's good, but my gold medals there's
- 44:28Speaker 4: a hard work and tears, you know what I mean.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Tears. I always tell people I have a documentary. I
- 44:37Speaker 2: am bold.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Go check that out because a lot of people see
- 44:40Speaker 4: me there. But all you know, you it looks so easy. Yeah,
- 44:43Speaker 4: it looks easy, but it's not the work that goes
- 44:45Speaker 4: on behind the scenes is what. Go check it out, seriously,
- 44:49Speaker 4: iron Bolt documentary.
- 44:51Speaker 7: Let me ask you this as far as the music,
- 44:52Speaker 7: because I know you're big in the music. This is
- 44:55Speaker 7: brought to my attention today afro beats. It is really
- 45:00Speaker 7: on it. Dwarfed dance ball man like they said, like
- 45:04Speaker 7: as like dance folds.
- 45:05Speaker 5: Kind of getting sucked into afrobeats and it's all kind
- 45:08Speaker 5: of merged together.
- 45:10Speaker 4: How do you feel about that think. So dancehall is
- 45:15Speaker 4: so different from afrobeats, you know what I mean. But
- 45:18Speaker 4: I think afrobeats has grown like massively, you know what
- 45:22Speaker 4: I mean, over the few years, you know what I mean.
- 45:25Speaker 4: And the way Danceall was is not the same thing,
- 45:28Speaker 4: you know what I mean. It's more streamline called back
- 45:30Speaker 4: in the days.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I was listening to the radio.
- 45:32Speaker 4: I think it was Chrome, I don't remember who was playing,
- 45:35Speaker 4: and they were talking about like danceall back in the
- 45:37Speaker 4: days clash.
- 45:42Speaker 2: So yeah, that's what was when dance I was at
- 45:44Speaker 2: his peak.
- 45:45Speaker 4: I mean, if you if you versus thing when Beanie
- 45:49Speaker 4: and Bunty went on, it was different, and that's what
- 45:53Speaker 4: that's what danceall is missing, you know what I mean.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Everybody's friends zone exactly after everything is different, you know
- 46:01Speaker 4: what I mean. Yeah, there's no battering anymore. So dancehall
- 46:05Speaker 4: is kind of on a level right now, kind of cool.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Yeah, what was your reawer to that?
- 46:11Speaker 4: I mean watching the versus Bounty because you're here, you
- 46:14Speaker 4: know the history, you know how far back that nineteen
- 46:17Speaker 4: but watching it present day on versus them being together,
- 46:21Speaker 4: it's crazy.
- 46:21Speaker 2: It's crazy to.
- 46:22Speaker 4: See this man all my life and beans being at
- 46:25Speaker 4: war all my life, you know what I mean, And
- 46:28Speaker 4: to see the two of them versus just having a
- 46:31Speaker 4: good time, it's like, it's crazy, you know what I mean.
- 46:33Speaker 4: But it was so good to watching this reminiscent here
- 46:37Speaker 4: that that was real. Yeah, really yeah, And that's what
- 46:42Speaker 4: I think. That's what dance is missing right now, that
- 46:45Speaker 4: hardcore where he's against him, remember, because remember Carteil and
- 46:50Speaker 4: Mavada the same thing.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Yeah, dance, how was that his peak?
- 46:54Speaker 7: It was dangerous?
- 46:55Speaker 4: We need we need yeah, because they took people took
- 46:58Speaker 4: it too far away, you know, people took.
- 47:00Speaker 2: It too far because it was hot. It was every
- 47:04Speaker 2: argument down the street was who's the beddest, whose song
- 47:07Speaker 2: was the best? I mean, but it's still that's what
- 47:10Speaker 2: that's it was. I mean. So now for me, it's
- 47:13Speaker 2: picking up and down. So I was like, we need,
- 47:16Speaker 2: we need that energy.
- 47:17Speaker 5: Super I want to ask you this too, because it's like,
- 47:19Speaker 5: I feel like there's no global superstar right now. The
- 47:23Speaker 5: biggest dance hall stark right me for wrong, it's still
- 47:25Speaker 5: Bob's cartel, which is interesting because it's been in jail
- 47:28Speaker 5: for a long wh is obs Cartel's impact on on
- 47:32Speaker 5: the culture Because it's like for us, I'm like, he's
- 47:36Speaker 5: coming out with new music.
- 47:38Speaker 2: That's the greatest Jamaica. Yo. You say, how is he
- 47:44Speaker 2: making music? Yo? This is crazy? He said.
- 47:50Speaker 4: It's an impact of vibes cart plade, an impact because
- 47:53Speaker 4: the level that he makes music and anything it does
- 47:57Speaker 4: is just gold.
- 47:59Speaker 2: He's just he's very smart. You know.
- 48:00Speaker 4: If you listen to his music and he performs and
- 48:03Speaker 4: he will sing this, and then each next week you
- 48:06Speaker 4: hear his music and it's totally different, you know what
- 48:08Speaker 4: I mean. And that's how he rolls. He doesn't keep
- 48:11Speaker 4: one flow for too long. He flows the one way
- 48:14Speaker 4: and then he switches up, you know what I mean.
- 48:16Speaker 4: And that's what makes him so great because you hear
- 48:18Speaker 4: one artist the whole life. He sings the exact same way,
- 48:22Speaker 4: you know what I mean, But vibes Carter every two
- 48:24Speaker 4: years or every year, it's a different flow, different vibes.
- 48:28Speaker 4: He just keeps and that's why it's so great. That's
- 48:30Speaker 4: why he had that big impact on Jamaica. So is
- 48:33Speaker 4: he still the top because or is it like a
- 48:35Speaker 4: guy like Popcorn is coming in? Yeah, vibes cartail can
- 48:39Speaker 4: he will never stop, you know what I mean.
- 48:41Speaker 2: But right now.
- 48:42Speaker 4: I don't know the sixth six them as Jo say,
- 48:48Speaker 4: and like Popcorn is doing well.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Also, you know what I mean, But no one is
- 48:52Speaker 2: really exactly exactly.
- 49:02Speaker 7: Original.
- 49:04Speaker 5: But I think I think I just from from my
- 49:06Speaker 5: perspective as a fan, I feel like that's one of
- 49:08Speaker 5: the things. Because even Apple they got whiz Kids, they
- 49:11Speaker 5: got the Bob what is the name that the body?
- 49:15Speaker 5: But I don't think that no one is Nobody know
- 49:18Speaker 5: what I'm.
- 49:18Speaker 7: Saying, don't be Vernable heard the boy exactly?
- 49:22Speaker 2: So everything we need it all right?
- 49:25Speaker 4: So when when we did clockwork right the rhythm, we
- 49:28Speaker 4: did clockwork and we hit Shama and this is why
- 49:32Speaker 4: he did the lockdown song.
- 49:33Speaker 2: But people miss that.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Dance all They were so happy to hear this, you
- 49:39Speaker 4: know what I mean, Ship and the body gave it.
- 49:42Speaker 4: It just reminds you of dance. And I talked to
- 49:45Speaker 4: him about it was like, people are gonna love the
- 49:46Speaker 4: first time he sent them song, I was like, I'm
- 49:49Speaker 4: sure peoplere gonna love this because as soon as I
- 49:51Speaker 4: heard it, it reminds me of like proper whole old
- 49:54Speaker 4: school Jamaican dance all music, you know what I mean,
- 49:58Speaker 4: And that's what we are missing nowadays in the music.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Until that comes back, it's is gonna be regular.
- 50:04Speaker 4: So yeah, did the lockdown song and then obviously has
- 50:06Speaker 4: Colona has eased up a little bit.
- 50:08Speaker 2: You know, see what happens.
- 50:09Speaker 4: It's a party comes Yeah, very intention parted. Yeah, it's
- 50:13Speaker 4: a summer song, you know what I mean. It's a
- 50:14Speaker 4: summer song. And we we talked about it. You had
- 50:17Speaker 4: a few songs and like, no, this is a one.
- 50:20Speaker 4: It's a party is a one because it's in summertime.
- 50:23Speaker 4: Now we finally got a little bit extension on our curve.
- 50:26Speaker 4: So I was like, well, you dropped this song right now,
- 50:28Speaker 4: is going to get a bus People gonna like it
- 50:30Speaker 4: because that's what we want, you.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Know what I mean, just have fun. It's a party
- 50:33Speaker 2: in NJ. So this is what we're doing. And that's
- 50:36Speaker 2: what we did. Video looks great. You know, it was
- 50:38Speaker 2: missing one thing that these guys called leisure. You know,
- 50:44Speaker 2: we like to have fun, and it was it was
- 50:48Speaker 2: a party. It was choice for the video. That's the
- 50:55Speaker 2: second part.
- 50:56Speaker 4: You earn the lead and so you know the next video,
- 50:59Speaker 4: you know, no worries, no word.
- 51:04Speaker 2: You've never.
- 51:07Speaker 7: Yeah, come to the it's crazy.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I was like ship.
- 51:19Speaker 5: Let me ask you this as far as Jamaica, how
- 51:22Speaker 5: has COVID affected thing? Because I feel like I feel
- 51:25Speaker 5: like it got hit hard because you're still in lockdown semi.
- 51:29Speaker 7: How has it affected like the business economy?
- 51:31Speaker 2: Uh?
- 51:32Speaker 4: Because I think it's it's bad for everybody, you know
- 51:35Speaker 4: what I mean? But like the down saw itself, the
- 51:38Speaker 4: entertainment industry got it was it was bad. Finally now
- 51:42Speaker 4: they're they're really like opening it up and giving us
- 51:45Speaker 4: a chance. But initially nothing, you know, I mean, it
- 51:48Speaker 4: was ten people like young can get in ten.
- 51:51Speaker 2: I was like what you know what I mean?
- 51:56Speaker 4: It got hit really bad, you know what I mean?
- 51:58Speaker 4: But overall team a lot of people. They told us
- 52:02Speaker 4: that everybody else worked from home as much as possible. Yeah,
- 52:06Speaker 4: but it was as crazy as everybody.
- 52:08Speaker 7: What's your thoughts are you?
- 52:09Speaker 2: Are you?
- 52:10Speaker 7: What's your thoughts on the business climate in Jamaica?
- 52:12Speaker 5: Because we always hear about music, sports, but like for
- 52:15Speaker 5: the entrepreneurs that's coming up, do you think that there's
- 52:19Speaker 5: some opportunities?
- 52:20Speaker 2: Are you?
- 52:21Speaker 5: Do you feel like there's a lot more that needs
- 52:22Speaker 5: to be done to help entrepreneurs and young people that's
- 52:24Speaker 5: trying to figure it out.
- 52:25Speaker 4: Business I think there is, you know, I mean, there's
- 52:27Speaker 4: a lot more work, you know, I mean, it's not
- 52:29Speaker 4: as easy, you know what I mean, because.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Even to get a job is rough, you know what
- 52:34Speaker 2: I mean. And it's the weirdest thing.
- 52:35Speaker 4: I've never said this, but like they don't put a
- 52:39Speaker 4: lot of respect on like Jamaican indication. You go to
- 52:43Speaker 4: UI a U Tech and you come out of school.
- 52:45Speaker 4: Somebody goes to American school. They get the job by
- 52:49Speaker 4: that easy. It makes no sense. And one other team
- 52:53Speaker 4: when people will say yo, or you need the experience,
- 52:55Speaker 4: I am not going to get the experience if nobody's
- 52:57Speaker 4: gonna iire me, you know what I mean. You got
- 52:58Speaker 4: to get people that trying to prove themselves, you know
- 53:01Speaker 4: what I mean. But it's hard for entrepreneurs. It's not
- 53:04Speaker 4: it's not something that you can just get up and
- 53:06Speaker 4: go all right, I can make it now. That's why
- 53:09Speaker 4: a lot of people just work, you know what I mean, Yeah,
- 53:13Speaker 4: a lot of people. That's kind of a great segue
- 53:15Speaker 4: because I want to talk about what you do with
- 53:17Speaker 4: the using both foundation, refurbishing schools, great community centers. So
- 53:22Speaker 4: the ain't laptops. Can you talk about that in your
- 53:24Speaker 4: points of it. Obviously, we know that the resources can
- 53:28Speaker 4: help any situation. So that's what you're doing is throughout
- 53:31Speaker 4: the country or specifically is it is most of the
- 53:34Speaker 4: rural yours cause that's where it's needed, you know what
- 53:36Speaker 4: I mean, because especially in the is you know, have
- 53:39Speaker 4: internet and stuff like that, so we try we work
- 53:42Speaker 4: with this so also to try to get a few
- 53:45Speaker 4: schools like internet service and and then we figure out
- 53:51Speaker 4: that some places you can't get internet, so we have
- 53:54Speaker 4: to get printers now to send to like different schools
- 53:58Speaker 4: so they can actually print information and pass it around
- 54:01Speaker 4: the community to the kids, you know what I mean.
- 54:02Speaker 4: So for me, that's what we've been doing most of COVID,
- 54:06Speaker 4: you know what I mean. That's trying to get as
- 54:07Speaker 4: much equipment out to these rural era schools so they
- 54:11Speaker 4: can get their information because it's not you can go
- 54:14Speaker 4: and like in Kingston you can go and zoom everybody
- 54:17Speaker 4: has an iPad everything, but in the country it's not
- 54:20Speaker 4: like that, you know what I mean. So that's what
- 54:22Speaker 4: we're focused on most COVID, just trying to get as
- 54:26Speaker 4: much equipment to the rule of the area as possible and.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Were all donating to the hospitals as well. The COD
- 54:31Speaker 2: we anything for me.
- 54:33Speaker 4: We tried to help in any way possible to give
- 54:36Speaker 4: like equipment and just even just to have a talk
- 54:40Speaker 4: with people because mental health was a situation.
- 54:44Speaker 7: Yeah, so it was a big thing.
- 54:45Speaker 4: So any possible way I could help and ad thetime,
- 54:49Speaker 4: I would do it.
- 54:49Speaker 7: Have you ever thought about getting into politics.
- 54:52Speaker 2: No, I stay with.
- 54:55Speaker 4: I stay away from politics. Is I don't want to say,
- 55:00Speaker 4: but correct, you know what I mean. But I stay
- 55:03Speaker 4: away from it's too much, you know what I mean,
- 55:05Speaker 4: it's too much.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Good.
- 55:06Speaker 5: I just felt like, you know, you're such an ambassador,
- 55:09Speaker 5: You're such you have so much pride in your country.
- 55:12Speaker 7: You won't leave the country. You could be the president.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Yeah, too much, much, too much. I stay with. If
- 55:19Speaker 2: I can avoid politics, I avoid it completely, you know
- 55:22Speaker 2: what I mean. I just do my part, do my work.
- 55:24Speaker 2: That's it, you know what I mean. I try to
- 55:29Speaker 2: help it anyway, but I just leave it alone. That's
- 55:32Speaker 2: how I am.
- 55:33Speaker 7: So what's on the horizon, what do you what?
- 55:35Speaker 5: What's on your vision board in the next five ten years,
- 55:38Speaker 5: as far as you know, different things.
- 55:39Speaker 2: That you have going on. For me, I take it
- 55:41Speaker 2: as a coming. I mean, right, now, I'm just focusing
- 55:43Speaker 2: on this music, you know what I mean.
- 55:45Speaker 4: So for the next two years, I think that's going
- 55:47Speaker 4: to be I mean, focused to see what's going on,
- 55:50Speaker 4: you know, I mean to try to get everything together
- 55:52Speaker 4: and to see how far we can go with it,
- 55:54Speaker 4: you know what I mean. But behind that, I tried
- 55:58Speaker 4: to still get my build lins up and all the things.
- 56:01Speaker 4: But my main focus is going to be the music.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Right now.
- 56:03Speaker 7: Who's the artists that you really like are tuned in with?
- 56:06Speaker 2: Like now, let's see that for me.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Right now, we just try to make good beats and
- 56:15Speaker 4: and find because we're not really I'm not really searching
- 56:17Speaker 4: for like talent, as I said, because I want to
- 56:20Speaker 4: when I get my foot in the door, and then
- 56:22Speaker 4: I'll be like, all.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Right, cool, we can we can say let's see who's time.
- 56:26Speaker 4: We can probably do something on social media where the
- 56:29Speaker 4: best top five music are like so you know what
- 56:33Speaker 4: I mean. But right now, I'm just working and as
- 56:36Speaker 4: I said, people are enjoying the music more now and
- 56:39Speaker 4: and listening to it.
- 56:40Speaker 2: So I'm really happy with what's going on.
- 56:42Speaker 5: What artists would you want to work with? You might
- 56:44Speaker 5: not have every who's your favorite artist? Let's say who's
- 56:48Speaker 5: your favorite of all time?
- 56:52Speaker 4: So it has to be Vibes Carter Lives cartil Is.
- 56:57Speaker 4: We're talking to baby Shamda. I was like, of we
- 57:00Speaker 4: grew up on your music. So when I see these
- 57:03Speaker 4: guys and hear them sing and see the word that
- 57:05Speaker 4: they put in, it's always so crazy, you know what
- 57:08Speaker 4: I mean to know that I grew up on their
- 57:10Speaker 4: music all these years and now I'm just working with
- 57:13Speaker 4: these guys, you know what I mean. So I'm always
- 57:15Speaker 4: a big upho always because to be working with him
- 57:19Speaker 4: it's like a dream.
- 57:20Speaker 2: Also, trust me, because you grew up on these music
- 57:24Speaker 2: right right right.
- 57:30Speaker 4: To come to come to Kingston, you might say yeah, yeah,
- 57:35Speaker 4: and it was giving me two years after you have
- 57:38Speaker 4: an there's no joke.
- 57:40Speaker 2: There's no joke. I first spect that. I love that.
- 57:44Speaker 5: It's always interesting because I like athletes always have such
- 57:47Speaker 5: respect for music. Musicians have such respect. It's like you
- 57:57Speaker 5: listen to the music before you know what I'm saying.
- 58:01Speaker 4: For sure, I've always said that, like yo, music and
- 58:06Speaker 4: sports is like like one you know what I mean?
- 58:09Speaker 2: Wait before we go again, congratulates don't happen twins Sho.
- 58:13Speaker 4: We talk about the role that fatherhood has played in
- 58:15Speaker 4: your life over the past few years. For me, patience
- 58:18Speaker 4: is what it has taught me to be very much
- 58:21Speaker 4: more because I wasn't patient. But I get I know,
- 58:24Speaker 4: I really quick if I have to wait, really but
- 58:28Speaker 4: now I have to be patient, you know.
- 58:30Speaker 2: I mean my daughter she doesn't listen.
- 58:34Speaker 7: Like she was.
- 58:36Speaker 2: I would like, come here. She looks me dead and
- 58:39Speaker 2: walks away like I know. You know what I'm saying
- 58:43Speaker 2: to you. But you have to have patience. But that's
- 58:46Speaker 2: what they told men. It's been.
- 58:47Speaker 4: It's been great sleeps, a little bit of sleepless nights,
- 58:50Speaker 4: but expected, you know what I mean. Time I was
- 58:55Speaker 4: smart to not to not have kids while I was running,
- 58:59Speaker 4: you know what I mean that was That was a
- 59:01Speaker 4: good decision.
- 59:01Speaker 2: You ran your own risks.
- 59:05Speaker 7: It's been an honor, it's been a pleasure.
- 59:07Speaker 5: Shout out to Nicole black Effect our heart for putting
- 59:11Speaker 5: this together.
- 59:13Speaker 7: Shout out to the whole team.
- 59:15Speaker 5: Shout out to you, shout the sh shout out to
- 59:17Speaker 5: everybody making man we believe and enjoy ourselves out here.
- 59:21Speaker 5: Everybody really really just friendly and just show us so
- 59:23Speaker 5: much love. We got to know what the party is
- 59:26Speaker 5: going on.
- 59:29Speaker 7: The club. I know it closed out eleven good, we'll
- 59:36Speaker 7: talk about that.
- 59:37Speaker 5: That's a but nah, man, any anything that you like
- 59:40Speaker 5: to tell the people, what would you like to like
- 59:42Speaker 5: let them know any businesses or.
- 59:44Speaker 7: Something going on.
- 59:44Speaker 4: For me, it's just the music right now. Just look
- 59:46Speaker 4: up for the music. And I mean, I'm seriously in
- 59:48Speaker 4: the music business. There's always eighteen lifestyle. You've seeing production.
- 59:54Speaker 4: It's all that music and supporting I mean goes treating
- 59:57Speaker 4: the music. I mean because I mean business and you're
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: gonna continue here and good music with different people should.
- 1:00:04Speaker 7: Put together a tour when Corona is over a bunch
- 1:00:07Speaker 7: of artists that.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: It was a vibe.
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: That's all right, man. I appreciated chroy housekeeping items.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Shout out to Kingston, Jamaica. Choutte Kingston, Jamaica. As
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: got know my entire families from here. So to be here,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: to be here with the goal is incredible.

- 1:00:36Speaker 4: We came here and people recognize us from being on
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: the podcast and our earners as well as shout y'all.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Shout everybody supporting the merch. We greatly appreciate y'all.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: The local TVs are the logal t shirts are back,
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: so shout out to y'all and yeah, man support.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: One last thing, How does it feel of being a sport?
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: I feel like this is interesting. Track is probably the
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: only sport in the world when it's no debate. Joy
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: Mayweather versus I got to know you're the fastest person.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: That's what I feel to be like, I'm I'm the
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: best to ever do this and you can't. You can't
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: say Jordan Lebron.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: We always talk about this and I always laugh and
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: I was like, yo, yeah, there's no question. You know
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: You can't dispute this. You know what I mean because
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: what we always argue about Messi and Ronaldo. That's one
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: of the biggest things, you know what I mean. I'm Ronaldo.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: I'm a Manchester United, so that's how it started. I
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: support Argentina though, but yeah, okay, that's yeah, that's my
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: international team.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: But for me, he's proven himself and people always ask
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: why I was like you went to Manchester United, dominated,
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: went to Real Madrid dominated. When dominated is proven that yo,
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: anywhere I go, I can dominate, you know what I mean.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: That's cool. Clear, I almost forgot. I'm glad you said
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: to debate. So you ran nineteen nineteen and you ran
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: nine five big? Could you have gone fast if you
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: didn't do the chest book and.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Look like.
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: But then he also did this.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: No, that was when he looked back at them. That's
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: the one of the best means of all time. You
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: think you could have.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: Moved, You could have probably probably, you know what I mean.
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: But for me, as I said, I've always said to you,
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: I've always said to people, I don't run for time,
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I just want to beat you. That's how I am
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: as a person. I'm competitive.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: So I showed in eight when I ran in eight
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: Tyson and Tyson was injured and I wont him to
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: everybody was like, oh it was because Tyson wasn't there,
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: blah blah blah blah. I was like, all right, cool,
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: respect he wasn't there. And then you know nine, now
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: I beat him. I was like, all right, what are
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: you saying?
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: It was just all about company and only I never
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: earned the time. In the twenty sixty Olympics, you had
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: come back from injury. Oh no, it was actually the
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: word the year before that Chapman had just come back
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: from Yeah. They were like.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: He had had a crazy Yeah it was it was
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: running fast and you still be them because all right,
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: I explained this to a lot of people. It's easy
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: to chase somebody when you're the one being chased, can
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: you handle it?
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: Because through everything he was the one chasing me, you
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: know what I mean. And then the season now switches around. No,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: he gets to the line, I'm the one chasing him,
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: you know what I mean. And that's the pressure that
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: got to him, you.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: Know what I mean. And people always think it's easy.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: It's not. It's not easy when you're on top. It's
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: not easy.
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: Because he was running good and I was like, I
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: was barely making it back. I was running good, but
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: I wasn't running fast enough, you know what I mean.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: But the pressure of that day, that yo, he had
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: to win, got the best of them.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: He just broke saw me and just lost it, you
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: know I mean, it's just the pressure. And I tell
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: people it's a little easy, but it's not. You know,
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: it's because of and I know from like the two hundred.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Once you make that turn, the distance between you and
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: the next person is so disrespect it looks.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Like like two hundred.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: My events, if I win a hundred means I'm not
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: listening to hundreds.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that tells people four hundred. Yeah. I didn't like it.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: That was too much, that's all. Yeah.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: In Old seven, I remember after we I ran, I
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: came second to Tyson Gay. My coach was like, yo,
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: you need a second you need a second race. You
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: have to run the four undred meals. I was like, noah,
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: bro I run a hundred. Music goes, no, You're not
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: one hundred meter run it all.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: I was like. I was like, nah, I be like
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: I was like, all right, bet if I run one
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: hundred minutes and I run fast, I run a hundred,
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: I run so I run the four hundred minutes and
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: he's like all right, and I went, I don't remember well.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: I think I went to attend somewhere meet and I
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: ran ten old Tree and I was like, cool, you
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: know what I mean?
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: And teno tree back then was good, good, you know
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: what I mean? You know what I mean?
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: And I was like, and that's how I started runing
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: a hundred minutes. If I'd run slow, I wouldn't be
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: the first man in the world. Right, I'll be running.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: I'll be running foodge meters.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: You know what. It's crazy. Oh things work out. That's crazy. Man.
