- 2:45fantasy season. Who doesn't love a good
- 2:48giveaway? Very exciting stuff indeed.
- 2:51So let's start with our hot topics #1 we got Dougie
- 2:57Hamilton. He was scratched.
- 2:59There are trade rumors. We touched on this a bit in our
- 3:02previous 15 news and update episode.
- 3:05And would you rather? Of course, my thing, I wanted
- 3:09to, I didn't want to dive too much into it because I wanted to
- 3:12sort of leave some time here. I knew we were going to talk
- 3:15about this because it is a quite hot topic, but imagine, imagine
- 3:20for a second. And I don't know if the timing
- 3:22necessarily lines up. So don't Fact Check on this, but
- 3:24if Dougie Hamilton listened to Bangor management, the Fantasy
- 3:27hockey podcast and realize that halfway through the season, a
- 3:30little more than halfway through the season actually, that the
- 3:33Sharks would have 49 points and the Devils would be at 48.
- 3:39So he waived a, he didn't want to get traded to the Sharks
- 3:44essentially. He said, Nope, I'm not going
- 3:47there. And it basically, I think that
- 3:49would have been such an amazing fit for him.
- 3:52Klingberg has been on and off all year and I really think he's
- 3:55way past his prime. He's not a solid power play 1
- 3:57defenseman. And I mean, we talk about
- 3:59talismanic all the time. Celebrity is just on another
- 4:01level. I think you should be in the
- 4:03trophy conversation. Very sad because I think that
- 4:05way. But that's yeah, he's been
- 4:07unbelievable. If they make the playoffs, I
- 4:10really think you should be the guy.
- 4:11But hey, anyways, all this to say, that would have been a
- 4:14great landing spot for him. As far as the current situation
- 4:17at hand goes, it's tough. It's really brutal if you're a
- 4:21doggie owner. I don't know what kind of value
- 4:24he has for fantasy if he remains on the Devils.
- 4:27I don't think, I don't think any really.
- 4:29I think he could be dropped in most leagues, but wherever he
- 4:32gets traded, hopefully he does. I actually think that it can't
- 4:36get worse than this, so things will be looking up for him.
- 4:39Yeah, I mean the situation right now is he got scratched for
- 4:42game, then they brought him back for the game after and he got 2
- 4:44assists. So he actually looked pretty
- 4:46good on the ice. The issue has never been like,
- 4:48you know, his on ice player I think that often has definitely
- 4:51slowed down, but his defence has gotten better.
- 4:54So I think it was just kind of like he changed his game a
- 4:55little bit to suit the team and what they wanted.
- 4:58But I'm not saying he's getting scapegoated here.
- 5:00He's not the same player that he's always been.
- 5:02But this New Jersey situation is really bad and I think it trade
- 5:05feels inevitable at this point. And he he's got a no move clause
- 5:09and I think there's only 10 teams on the list that he can go
- 5:11to. But it looks like on those ten
- 5:14teams, there's not many teams that are right now.
- 5:17We don't know what teams are obviously, but something it's
- 5:20not easy right around something would have happened already, it
- 5:22feels like. But as the situation gets more
- 5:25dire, it feels like he's widening the list of teams that
- 5:29he'd be willing to go for. Maybe the Sharks end up being a
- 5:32team that he gives the OK for. Maybe he just doesn't want to be
- 5:36on the West Coast. Who knows.
- 5:39But if you go to the shorts, they'll be easy situation
- 5:41because I think you would be sick there.
- 5:43Him and celebrity on the power play would be nuts.
- 5:45Other potential destinations, I mean, if you listen on some of
- 5:48the recent episodes, Josh said that he had a dream that Dougie
- 5:51got traded to the Saint Louis Blues.
- 5:53So maybe that's in the cards. They could definitely use him,
- 5:56but he's going to go to a team that needs a power play
- 5:58quarterback. So I feel no matter where he
- 6:00gets treated, his value will go up or it can get worse.
- 6:04What is right now? So if you have Dougie, I'm I'm
- 6:09trying to hold and be patient. I haven't been the league and
- 6:11I've held all year through the major lows that he's been
- 6:14through. Hopefully he doesn't keep
- 6:17getting scratched, but if he does, hopefully you can R Plus.
- 6:19Lots of me got scratched. They didn't even give him out
- 6:21designation on Yahoo so you couldn't R Plus in which was
- 6:23crazy. But I trade feels inevitable
- 6:28before the Olympic break is my guess.
- 6:30I'm just very curious to see which which team he goes to.
- 6:33But the value can only go up it feels like.
- 6:36So both going up for Dougie Hamilton, it feels like.
- 6:39Yeah, if I say it. Feels like one more time just do
- 6:44something to me that I can't say on the podcast.
- 6:46To be fair, I didn't think that the Sharks would be better than
- 6:50the Devils, but I had the Sharks not finishing bottom of their
- 6:52division. So that's why I said that Dougie
- 6:54should have listened to our podcast and then maybe he would
- 6:56have had a different outlook on this.
- 6:58They've been so popular playoff convo like that's why they can
- 7:02still actually make moves for this season and off the roster.
- 7:05Yeah, the Devils, the East is so wide open, so they're not out of
- 7:08it yet. And I feel like either coaching
- 7:10changes that happen or major trade and let's make things
- 7:13happen though. Yeah, yeah.
- 7:16All right. Next we got John Gibson.
- 7:18We touched on that a little bit in the Would You rather section
- 7:22of the last episode, but kind of to reiterate that he's been on
- 7:26absolute fire. His percentages are off the
- 7:28charts. Detroit's a very good team.
- 7:30I think that it's a great opportunity to sell high if you
- 7:34can, because you know, you you said it right.
- 7:37He's been squishy in the past. He's had some injury issues.
- 7:39That's probably why it took him so long to get traded from
- 7:42Anaheim. That being said, it's obviously
- 7:44encouraging to see. I think Detroit's going to make
- 7:46the playoffs. And I think as time goes on, I
- 7:49mean, I'm just basically reiterating what I was saying,
- 7:51but he's going to get less and less playing time once they
- 7:56secure a playoff spot. So that's my concern, in
- 7:59addition to the fact that this is just a ridiculous stretch.
- 8:03Yeah, I mean, I think, listen, Detroit is a good team, not
- 8:06listed the most amazing team, but the ease is pretty, I was it
- 8:09pretty weak right now. There's a lot of teams that are
- 8:11not playing at their full potential and Detroit is taking
- 8:13advantage of that. Like, we've seen them be a team
- 8:14in the past that starts hot and kind of falters off and they
- 8:17don't make the playoffs. So maybe this is the year that
- 8:19they finally are able to capitalize on the situation
- 8:21around them being weaker, right. And John Gibson, we know,
- 8:24listen, he's older than he was in the past.
- 8:26I feel like he was the guy that was supposed to be traded every
- 8:28year for the last five years. Never happened until the
- 8:30offseason. Anticlimactic.
- 8:32But right now he's playing out of his mind, guys, he's playing,
- 8:36he's playing like an insane person and for fantasy it's
- 8:41amazing. He's won like 80% of his games.
- 8:43The percentages have been great. It'll get you a shout out, but
- 8:45do I think this is a sustainable no.
- 8:48If any goal we were performing at this level, I'd recommend
- 8:51them as a sell high. I did in fact do this with like
- 8:54Soros recently, with Demco recently and those paid off.
- 8:57I think John Gibson right now is the next goalie up.
- 8:59Sell them while you can. I don't think he's going to fall
- 9:01off like the other guys did. But you know what, John Gibson,
- 9:04it's always an injury in the back of your mind.
- 9:05Mind is potential and you can maybe get a great, great goal
- 9:08the rest of season if you trade him.
- 9:10So that's kind of my take on him.
- 9:12I I still like him as a top 15 goalie rest of season if
- 9:16healthy. And if you pick them up off
- 9:18waivers, you're happy right now you're getting great production,
- 9:20but capitalize on that. Get another guy.
- 9:23Yeah, yeah. Well said, Well said.
- 9:27And there is the name value, right?
- 9:29Like that's also something John Gibson has been an elite goalie.
- 9:32So I really think you can sell them and should.
- 9:34Then we got the Artemi Panarin trade rumors.
- 9:38Yeah, yeah, this is, uh, this is an interesting one.
- 9:41I mean, Rangers have a great playoff schedule.
- 9:44Josh, Kevin and I were talking about this and when Josh and met
- 9:49first mentioned the trade rumors, you were like, if he
- 9:51gets traded, I'm cooked Now, I get it.
- 9:53But we we kind of speak about different tiers of guys who gets
- 9:56treated, who get treated and like are gonna guarantee for
- 9:59success barring the Carolina destination.
- 10:02That changes everything in the equation.
- 10:05I really don't think. And Panera's been pretty decent
- 10:07as of late, but I really don't think that he's going to be
- 10:10horrible if he goes to another team.
- 10:13You know, like if he comes, if he goes to the ABS.
- 10:15He could be. Great, goes to.
- 10:16Detroit delete the last month. Yeah, and now I don't think the
- 10:21elite stats that he's had would necessarily keep up if he goes
- 10:24elsewhere. That being said, I don't think
- 10:26he's the type of guy that like no, I can't believe he got
- 10:29traded to another team. Now I'm.
- 10:31Screwed. The main issue is I mean I was
- 10:34being hyperbolic in the group chat because I definitely won't
- 10:37be cooked if he gets traded, but I drafted Panera with the
- 10:40intention of having among Rossford playoffs because that
- 10:42Rangers playoff schedule is just so elite.
- 10:44So I'll be disappointed that he doesn't have that 444 anymore.
- 10:47But what type of player could succeed no matter where he goes?
- 10:50And this trade rumors, like honestly, like the situation has
- 10:53not really changed. It's just what further into the
- 10:55season. And the Rangers have not shown
- 10:56themselves to be a capable team yet.
- 10:58So he's he's the biggest name on the free agent market going into
- 11:01next year. So either they lock him down or
- 11:04they trade him. And they're not going to lock
- 11:06him down because he wants term. So they're not going to lock him
- 11:09down if they're not in the playoff picture.
- 11:11And as we get further through the trade deadline, they're
- 11:14gonna have decisions to make. It's really going to be if they
- 11:16have conviction on being a playoff them or not.
- 11:19And right now, listen, it's not looking good for them, but it's
- 11:23the East. So anything can happen.
- 11:25If I have Panarin and I do have Panarin, I'm trying to shop him
- 11:28right now because he's been, you know, he's been elite.
- 11:31He's going to be elite. He's an amazing player.
- 11:34But if you could capitalize on his recent production cause he's
- 11:36been like 2 points per game over the last month, almost like
- 11:39you're not selling on the fact that he's gonna fall off the
- 11:42face of the earth. But maybe you get another player
- 11:44that is lateral that has a safer playoff schedule if you really
- 11:48want to do that. But also, like, I'm probably not
- 11:50going to sell them. I'm probably gonna keep him and
- 11:52then hope the Rangers make the playoffs and he ends up on the
- 11:54Rangers for that playoff schedule because I think he'll
- 11:56be great. And it's just like if he gets
- 11:59traded, just hoping it's not Carolina and that's that.
- 12:02Would you trade Panarin for JT? No, I'd much rather have
- 12:06Panarin. I get it.
- 12:09I feel like it's worth asking because like, GT should be on
- 12:11the Rangers. But JT will definitely be on the
- 12:14Rangers, that's for sure. At the inner Bangaly.
- 12:18I can get it at Panera. We'll just he he'll get too many
- 12:20more points than JT to to make that swap in my opinion.
- 12:25Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I you pick, you pick
- 12:29Banaron mid second round and like at this point like you're
- 12:32probably wanting to upgrade to like a first round type guy,
- 12:34which he has been in the past. It's funny you used to hate him
- 12:36but like it's interesting how like the would you trade him for
- 12:42Scalabrini? I mean, if I can make that
- 12:45happen, yeah. I mean, this celebrity owner
- 12:47would do that. No, we know the celebrity owner
- 12:50won't do it. Yeah, But anyway, I like it.
- 12:53I think it's it's a cell in its own right.
- 12:55I wouldn't read too much into the trade rumors as factoring
- 12:58into the cell, but it's sort of like a nice cherry on top.
- 13:01So if you are, the value goes to 0 if he gets traded.
- 13:03That's why I'm not like desperate to get him off.
- 13:05But a change of situation brings up a lot of volatility, and
- 13:08volatility could go either way. So it becomes a riskier
- 13:11situation. But listen, he's doing what he's
- 13:14doing right now on the Rangers, who are a subpar team it feels
- 13:17like. So there's a chance that he goes
- 13:20to another team that's better. The the the rumors that I'm
- 13:23seeing are like Florida is in the mix, Washington is in the
- 13:27mix, Carolina is in the mix. So these teams are looking to
- 13:32bolster their attack. And if you went to like Florida,
- 13:34I'd be psyched, to be honest. Like, yeah, the playoff schedule
- 13:36is worse, but he's playing with star talent there.
- 13:38And he could be one of the main guys to go to Washington.
- 13:41The same thing like playing with Ovechkin like that, honestly be
- 13:44pretty sick. So amazing.
- 13:45So. And we heard Elliott Friedman
- 13:49say, you know, Washington is a team that Russians like to go
- 13:51play for. So.
- 13:52Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hang it out there.
- 13:54And last but not least, like like the the selling part of it,
- 13:57I mean 1.83 points per game in the last two weeks.
- 14:00Yeah, he's insane. That's wild.
- 14:02Like you're super happy. But yeah, I mean it's.
- 14:06Interesting to do that, like he's a phenomenal player and
- 14:08that's why you drafted him so high.
- 14:10Yeah, absolutely. All right, next, Lena Sellmark.
- 14:16There's been a lot of insane rumors from the Senators.
- 14:22I mean, yeah, it's your Bilo. Is he in a void?
- 14:25I'm leaning A void. I just like there's so many
- 14:29other than zetterling everything.
- 14:33A love affair with Zetterling. Like he he got him in the
- 14:36celebrity trade and he's been trying to hold on for dear life.
- 14:39And every, every time Jake is about to drop off, he scores a
- 14:41goal, he gets points or something and he's like, he's
- 14:44making me come back for more. It's like I never doubted you,
- 14:49Fabio, legislator straight zeros.
- 14:52It's like alright, drop down, four hits, four hits a goal, two
- 14:57shots like so So keep up the good work, Fabian, but stop with
- 15:00the emotional roller coasters. As far as the rest of this goes,
- 15:03I mean, I think this sends are in, as you said, the east is
- 15:08wide open and so far as like even though they're the bottom
- 15:11of the Atlantic, I mean, it's not horrible, it's not
- 15:13insurmountable. I mean look at The Jets, trying
- 15:16to get to the top of the central is basically impossible and same
- 15:21with the Canucks. And whereas for the Senators,
- 15:24there's only 15 points that separate the top team from the
- 15:27bottom team in the sense of played like 3 less games than
- 15:30the Red Wings were sitting on top.
- 15:31So it's totally wide open. I'm definitely not counting them
- 15:36out. That being said, like if you buy
- 15:38low, you gotta buy like real low here.
- 15:41I, I don't like it. I don't like the send situation.
- 15:44I still think they're top players are their top players
- 15:45and you're happy with it. Great playoff schedule.
- 15:48But him, particularly Almark, even before all the issues, like
- 15:51he was not having a good season. So I'm on the avoid train.
- 15:55I I'm definitely still interested, but as a bylaw,
- 15:59obviously, and like he, he's, he has little to no trade value as
- 16:03we speak. So if you're trading anybody,
- 16:05like that's the the highest I would trade is a guy that's like
- 16:08slightly above waiver wire value in your league just because the
- 16:12other manager probably, if they're still holding on,
- 16:14probably not trading him for a guy that is just as valuable as
- 16:16a guy on waivers. So at the bare minimum is
- 16:18basically what I would trade for him because I do think that auto
- 16:21has better days ahead. You know, the tumultuous Ness of
- 16:24this situation doesn't do well for the players heads off the
- 16:27ice and it affects their plate on the ice.
- 16:29But once this whole Shabaka L is behind them, I think they start
- 16:33playing better. They have a they have a talented
- 16:35team and also rumors are that they're looking to bolster their
- 16:39attack as well. Imagine they get Panarin.
- 16:41That'd be pretty sick. I once again have 4 Ottawa
- 16:44Senators on my team. Do I think that's the most
- 16:46likely destination? No.
- 16:48But the big issue now is like all marked.
- 16:51Yeah, he's had roller coaster of a year and yet like he's still
- 16:56by far their best. Usually they don't have anybody
- 16:58like they're trying a 37 year old James Reimer coming out of
- 17:01retirement to help them right now.
- 17:04So the last reports that I've been seeing is Almark is in the
- 17:07arena, like he's in the ring, he's around the game.
- 17:09So I think his return is, you know, around the corners.
- 17:13I want to put it out there, but I don't want to bet my house on
- 17:15it. So if I could get him for cheap,
- 17:18I would do it and then just see like I, I think the sense bounce
- 17:22back when he comes back. So yeah, that's, that's my take
- 17:25on it. But I, I don't hate avoiding him
- 17:27too. And I'm not giving any kind of
- 17:29substantial illness to him if that's what it's gonna take, you
- 17:34know? Yeah.
- 17:34Like I'm taking him over. I'm taking him over Bennington.
- 17:38Yeah, I'm gonna take him over LinkedIn.
- 17:42I'll probably take him over anyway.
- 17:45Spoiler alert, I won't say the last name that's on our list,
- 17:48but you. Know like a, you know, maybe you
- 17:52have it a Kurish meet or something and you're like, OK,
- 17:54yeah, here's the biggest starter for the moment.
- 17:56All stash all mark until he comes back type of thing.
- 17:59I'll take him on over one of the Canadians trios, you know what I
- 18:02mean? Like that not to, but like then
- 18:05when you're like, I'm taking. Jet grieves over him for sure.
- 18:08Close Sorokin Hofer I would take.
- 18:14I would. Take all, Take all Mark over any
- 18:16single schooling. But the I would take pussy over
- 18:18overall mark. Yeah, for sure.
- 18:20So it's just it's bad. That's terrible world market and
- 18:23Askerov has been not great. People are dropping in which
- 18:25understandable, but like I would rather have ask her how overall
- 18:29Mark. Yeah, yes, I agree.
- 18:31One more name Ingram. I'd rather have all marked for
- 18:34sure just got activated. So he's he's healthy and he's
- 18:39listening to this. He's already played at least a
- 18:41game. So Ingram, Ingram may get turn
- 18:43down the keys. I mean, they were recording
- 18:47this. The Oilers have a few days to
- 18:49send him down before it would take him going through waivers
- 18:52to be sent down. And I don't think they want to
- 18:54do that. So I think they're gonna send
- 18:55them down before that and then I'll just end up being Jerry and
- 18:58Picard. But yeah, anyways.
- 19:00Alright. And then the last name, this is
- 19:01the one that I was going to mention, Stuart Skinner, just to
- 19:06open with that, would you rather all Mark or Skinner?
- 19:10Um, hmm. I mean, honestly, that's close.
- 19:14Because I think Skinner is kind of like he's, he's actually
- 19:17playing pretty well. Let's start, let's start with
- 19:18Skinner. Yeah.
- 19:19Just the fact that like, you know, he had an awful start to
- 19:22his Penguins career. And the only thing that saved
- 19:26the trade was that Jerry was literally hurt.
- 19:28So he was not literally not playing hockey.
- 19:31But now it feels like, you know, Skinner is getting some good
- 19:34performances under his belt and the Penguins are actually
- 19:36winning games again and he's looking good out there.
- 19:39So I'm optimistic for his production rest of season.
- 19:42I'm curious to see how the split gold between him and she loves
- 19:45because they're kind of rotating right now.
- 19:48But I think he has he has good games in him right now.
- 19:50And I feel like the less the less pressure on his shoulders,
- 19:52the better he plays. So I'm happy for him as, you
- 19:56know, a human being and, you know, maybe less criticism.
- 20:00But do I rather him over all Mark rest of season?
- 20:04I feel like I take the chance on the ceiling that comes with
- 20:06Almark as like a more cemented starter because doesn't have
- 20:11shelves behind him putting starts with him.
- 20:13But are the Penguins better than the Ottawa Senators rest of the
- 20:16season? Like it's in the realm of
- 20:17outcomes, right? Like it's kind of like giving up
- 20:20on the sure thing for the potential of a slightly better
- 20:22thing. So just depends on how you play
- 20:24and what you're comfortability is with risk.
- 20:26What about you? I'm probably going to take all
- 20:28mark here because I think that they're going to be committed to
- 20:31the to the to the tandem. I think Pittsburgh is gonna do
- 20:37an auto 1A1B. Although if you look like
- 20:41Skinner had a pretty fantastic year in 2223 and that's when he
- 20:47played 50 games and Campbell played around 30.
- 20:53So Jack Campbell. Yeah.
- 20:56So so that's one of those things where I think that I think that
- 21:01Skinner could be a really solid tandem goalie.
- 21:05That being said, I mean, a full mark comes back and and
- 21:08actually, you know, really ignites the Senators to be good.
- 21:12Then then he could be great. Now it's just with the rumors,
- 21:15we haven't really gotten into that side of it yet.
- 21:17I mean, I just there are crazy rumors.
- 21:21You could look it up about the Senators.
- 21:22I don't think any of it's true. We don't need to start talking
- 21:24about it. But when it comes down to it
- 21:27with all mark, it's going to be like if it is bad vibes, like in
- 21:31the locker room, even the best players can't really make it
- 21:34past that. So that's what I'm worried.
- 21:37Stuart Skinner, it seems like it's a really good situation for
- 21:41him bouncing back. I actually like the like right
- 21:44now. I got 3 goalies, I got busy, I
- 21:46got wall set and I got Skinner. To me I, I think, I think like
- 21:52Skinner's not the one I'm dropping next.
- 21:54It feels if I have to drop one, I'm gonna kind of ride it out
- 21:58while things are decent. And yeah, I mean, for that
- 22:02reason, I would still say it's a really close conversation
- 22:05between the two, which is nice because I just picked up in our
- 22:08deep leagues Skinner off free agency.
- 22:10So it goes to your point. I know they're kind of
- 22:13intertwined, but hey, this is 2 goalies with pretty opposite
- 22:16situations right now. I actually will say it think
- 22:21Skinner is good now. I think it's going to be nice.
- 22:23I don't think it's gonna he's gonna fall off and just be
- 22:25horrible. But I still think it's gonna be
- 22:27a possibility. It totally is.
- 22:30But I'm actually, yeah, he's not gonna be as good as he's been
- 22:33over the last three or four games, but I still think he
- 22:35could hover around like a 995, which is way better than he's
- 22:39been for over the past two years.
- 22:41And what's that's looking like the Penguins best goalie start
- 22:45right now? For me, I think interesting is a
- 22:48very fluid situation and that he could go from being really good
- 22:51to really bad. And while it's good, you write
- 22:54it or you try to sell them for more consistent option.
- 22:56And that kind of might take was towards Skinner right now, but
- 22:59I'm I'm happy for the guy. Yeah, for sure.
- 23:01OK, let's get into the mailbag questions.
- 23:06We got a lot of questions guys, so let's try to blow through
- 23:09these. Yes, sedated sleeper on Reddit
- 23:12asked what's going on with Anaheim and specifically
- 23:14Dostall. There's been some hope that he'd
- 23:17be a good second goalie for your fantasy team.
- 23:19He started off strong, but he's been terrible since returning
- 23:22from injury. Is there any point in holding on
- 23:24to him in a 12 team league with the goalie, catsup, win and
- 23:27goals against wins, goals against, average save percentage
- 23:30and shutouts. Very similar to what we've got,
- 23:33but we have a 14 man league and he's rostered but not really
- 23:37roster able. Look like the Ducks are going to
- 23:40bounce back. That's just kind of like what I
- 23:42will say. It doesn't necessarily mean he's
- 23:43going to be good. I think you'll just score a lot
- 23:46more. So in a 12 league, I don't know,
- 23:48What do you think? I think when we touched on this
- 23:51on the a recent hot topics episode with just the ducks in
- 23:54general, I think most of them are bylaws right now.
- 23:57They're not gonna be as good as they were earlier in the season
- 23:58when we were telling you to sell high on them.
- 24:00They're not going to be as bad as they they've been over the
- 24:02last month. They'll style himself in a 12
- 24:05team league. I feel like there's the odds are
- 24:07there's probably a better goalie on waivers or I'd use that spot
- 24:09to stream. So if it's me, I'm I'm cutting
- 24:11bait and I'm streaming. Like if you can pick up a jet
- 24:14grease or John Gibson or I mean stream the matchups, I feel
- 24:19adept at this point, it's probably better to do that.
- 24:22He's lost tremendous trade value and I wouldn't feel bad.
- 24:25It just depends on the alternatives are on waivers.
- 24:27Like if your teams are all hoarding goalies and there's
- 24:29only like backups on waivers, clearly not cutting them.
- 24:32So if you have, if you want to know like actual names, you can
- 24:35message us on the discord and we'll answer that.
- 24:36But in general, like at this point, I want guys are
- 24:40contributing to my fantasy team and even though I think the
- 24:42Ducks will bounce back, I don't feel bad about cutting the
- 24:44goalie if there's alternatives. Yes, well said.
- 24:47I agree Intelligent invite 3 on Reddit asked and a categories
- 24:52league. Does Heineman still have value
- 24:54or should I drop him? But Colson is available and I'm
- 24:56wondering if I should make the swap.
- 24:58So right there, if put Kohl's kind of the guy you're thinking
- 25:02about, it means that you're in like a somewhat deep league.
- 25:04OK, so that's sort of the context I'm taking away from
- 25:06this. If you'd like, you could join
- 25:08the discord and maybe provide a little bit more context to the
- 25:12amount of teams and roster guys. But look, for me, the way I see
- 25:16this, I would way rather Heineman than put coals in.
- 25:19The shots have been consistent all year.
- 25:22Perhaps it's nice to get like caught up in the hype that he's
- 25:25playing with Dry Sidle, but I still don't think that's gonna
- 25:28really reflect so amazingly. I'm going to say that if you're
- 25:33in a deep enough league that put Coals in as the guy that you're
- 25:35thinking to replace Heineman with, then I would just rather
- 25:39keep Heineman and enjoy the shots hits combo even though the
- 25:41points have definitely gone down.
- 25:44Yeah, I mean, similar take. I think this just makes me think
- 25:47like you're asking basically, is Heineman worth a streaming spot
- 25:51or not? And I think I think there's
- 25:53better days ahead for Heyman when Bull Horvat comes back,
- 25:56like he's been missing time. And I mean, that's that's a huge
- 26:00crucial loss of that. And I under top 6.
- 26:03And I think Heineman really would benefit from Horbatt's
- 26:06presence. And he's just been a beast in
- 26:08the shots and hits like he's been one of the best power
- 26:11forward archetypes. The points have been scarce,
- 26:14right? But like if you're dropping Eric
- 26:16podcasts and I'm not expecting podcast on the points either.
- 26:19So at that point, I just rather hold the way better banger and
- 26:21Heinemann. Does that mean he's, you know,
- 26:24above any kind of streamer guy? Doesn't mean that.
- 26:28It just means that for Pickles and I'd rather Heineman and it
- 26:32depends on who's available, like if the next waiver wire hotness,
- 26:34like if Ryan Leonard isn't available, like would I take the
- 26:36chance on Ryan Leonard with the power play one production there?
- 26:39II potentially would. So depends who's available in
- 26:42your league. But I think Heineman is a great
- 26:44hold for the moment. And yeah, the points may not be
- 26:46here right now when Horvat comes back, I think they take up.
- 26:49Yeah, it's absolutely league dependent.
- 26:52That's it though. I mean, look, if Leonard's
- 26:54there, pick him up, but if Bud Coleson is sort of, you know,
- 26:57one of your top options. I that's pretty deeply like I'm
- 27:01keeping him in there because the shots combo and also importing
- 27:05contacts bangers league. Not that I value.
- 27:08Support Bangers League. Yeah, not that I value, but
- 27:10calls him tremendously in a points league, but it's somewhat
- 27:13of a conversation perhaps. But in a bangers league to me,
- 27:16Heineman easy hate this one. That's not actually it's it's a
- 27:22very good question. But still Ninja Bob dog on
- 27:26discord asked what are the second-half expectations for
- 27:30Maclin celebrity? Can he continue on this
- 27:32ridiculous pace? OK, first of all, love the guy.
- 27:36Hate the guy. Love the guy because he was so
- 27:39good for me all year and I traded him with this exact same
- 27:42thought process in mind. I'm thinking I'm like, look, can
- 27:44he really keep this up now for contacts?
- 27:48I think just to quickly touch on the trade, the crux of it was
- 27:51Matthews Celebrity. Obviously Matthews has this
- 27:54elite pedigree of being an incredible player for years in
- 27:56the NHL and Celebrity is just performing out of his absolute
- 28:00mind. My worry here for celebrity is
- 28:03that he can't necessarily do this without the surrounding
- 28:08cast all year and not to mention the fact my trade happened
- 28:12before the Olympics before he got named to the roster.
- 28:15If he can do this as a 19 year old and go to the Olympics and
- 28:19come back and be, you know, 1.1 point per game player, that's
- 28:22like truly, truly generational stuff, which is hard to bet on.
- 28:26So my take on the season, he's at 1.56 points per game.
- 28:33I think it's gonna end up in the one point.
- 28:35You know, he'll go forward. Moving forward, he'll be 1.1 to
- 28:391.3. So it is going to go down, which
- 28:43is not saying much because if he hits 1.3, it's still really
- 28:48incredible. So my take is that it's going to
- 28:51regress but, and you'll still end up with 95 to 100 points.
- 28:57But I don't think he's gonna end up, you know, with, uh, 140.
- 29:02Yeah. Which I think is a fair point to
- 29:05to say. So I mean, I think the the crux
- 29:08of the question is was answered, there's just like, do I think
- 29:11he's gonna slow down? Yes.
- 29:12So I think he's still going to be elite, yes.
- 29:14Do I think you should try to trade him at the absolute high
- 29:16right now and get like a phenomenal first round talent?
- 29:19Yes. If you can get like a Kucherov,
- 29:21a McDavid, a dry saddle, a McKinnon, even a Macar with the
- 29:26cross position for the Dean, how valuable that is.
- 29:28I would consider all those trades like that for Matthews is
- 29:33definitely closer. You're not giving yourself as
- 29:35much leeway, right? Like I think there's other guys
- 29:37are like definitely better with Matthews.
- 29:39It's he could be better, but it's definitely closer.
- 29:42So if you're if you have celebrity right now, do your due
- 29:45diligence and try to get one of those guys.
- 29:47It might not be the one for one, obviously, because those guys
- 29:49are also extremely good. So it might be a 242 package
- 29:53where you're paying a little bit of an addition there, but the
- 29:56fact they're able to reach that level is great.
- 30:00I just think that it's very ambitious for a player like this
- 30:04on a team like this to sustain this level of production for the
- 30:08rest of the season. Do I think he's going to get
- 30:11close to 100 points or over 100 points?
- 30:13Yes. So I I would not trying to ship
- 30:17him off my roster, absolutely, but I'm definitely knowing that
- 30:20he's going to slow down inevitably.
- 30:23Yeah, I mean, like, look, if he continues on this pace, he's
- 30:26basically getting like 125 points.
- 30:28Like, that's that's just very likely not gonna happen.
- 30:32But even if he ends up with 100, you're happy.
- 30:34It's still a great pace. So yeah, that is the really math
- 30:39uses the low end of what I would consider selling them for.
- 30:42And even at that, the Sharks have a better playoff schedule.
- 30:45It's nice in the week 21 to 23 that they have four games in the
- 30:48Finals, so that's also worth mentioning.
- 30:51Anyway, hopefully, hopefully Matthews keeps it up and does
- 30:55what celebrities been doing. OK, next question.
- 30:58Late night Pasta 617 on Discord asks.
- 31:01I just traded Mark Stone for JT Miller because of his unreal
- 31:04playoff schedule. Did I overpay?
- 31:06I like the JT side of this. I know you're a Stone fan.
- 31:09I know you're a Stone guy. I think that we've been talking
- 31:13about the Rangers a lot. I feel like the New York Rangers
- 31:15just in general are all topic. But JT, you're still getting
- 31:20super reliable peripheral categories with the points
- 31:23upside, I think. I think it's a good trade.
- 31:26If doesn't change your mind if it's not like a bangers league
- 31:29with hits. You mean it's just a points
- 31:32league? Yeah.
- 31:33Maybe, maybe I'd. I'd take Stone there.
- 31:36Yeah, I think. Because if I recall, I think I
- 31:39think late night Pasta, he's been super active in Discord, so
- 31:41shout out, but I think this was a points league.
- 31:44I do understand the concept of of of training for the playoff
- 31:47schedule. And JT was the guy that we've
- 31:49been saying to target. I do believe, though, however,
- 31:52that Marstone is also really good and like he's, he's on my
- 31:55own #1 villain list. Like he's done so much harm to
- 31:57my fantasy team over the years. That is the type of player that
- 32:00I wanted my team and not against my team.
- 32:02So I do think there's a realistic possibility that JT is
- 32:05better, especially come playoff time.
- 32:08Who are you rather have on your team is super close, But I do
- 32:11think that you paid on, you gave yourself little little margin of
- 32:15error to, you know, lose this trade.
- 32:18I feel like it could easily go wrong with how good Stone is and
- 32:21how sustainable his production has been the whole year.
- 32:24I feel like you traded him at the absolute Max and probably
- 32:27could have got T for cheaper. But I'm not going to say it's an
- 32:32L. I'm just saying it's probably
- 32:33true that I wouldn't have done or I would have tried to get JT
- 32:35plus. Yeah, they're gonna point, so I
- 32:38guess it changes it, but I still don't think you're gonna be
- 32:41like, upset about this. It's definitely not like you got
- 32:44ripped off by any means, but it's, yeah, it's tough.
- 32:49I mean right now. Stones, it's super close. 96
- 32:51points. So yeah, it's super close.
- 32:53There's no clear winner right now, but I think you definitely
- 32:55gave up the the better player in the moment hoping for the bounce
- 32:59back. And the bounce back is super
- 33:00ambiguous right now. That's why I think even with the
- 33:02better playoff schedule, it might not have been worth it.
- 33:05Yeah, all right. Next JD Whale on Discord asked
- 33:08what's the deal with Dalene? Should I avoid him in trades?
- 33:12I like buying Low and Dolly and I think you do too, right?
- 33:15Yeah, definitely buy low. Still look at top five
- 33:18defensemen In my mind, there's very few names I'd rather ahead
- 33:20of him. It's like Macar, Bouchard,
- 33:23Werenski and probably Quinn Hughes.
- 33:26And those are the only names that I 100% want over Darlene
- 33:28rest of season. Then it's probably closed
- 33:30between him and Sider, But besides that I'm holding.
- 33:33And yeah, not much more to say for for Dolly.
- 33:35And I know it hasn't been an exceptional, but I think it's a
- 33:38by law. Yeah, I I agree.
- 33:40It's it's tough because he's done badly when he's done really
- 33:44well in the past when Buffalo has done not well.
- 33:46Now Buffalo's doing better than they have been in engineers and
- 33:49he's not doing so well, but I think he's definitely still a
- 33:51target and trace Shepard, commander on discord asked in a
- 33:55categories lead with two goalie slots.
- 33:57How many goalies do you hold? If your goalie tanks your rate
- 34:00stats early in the week, do you stream more starts to go out for
- 34:05the volume categories? I hold 2 usually.
- 34:09I hate holding three. I currently have three and it's
- 34:12not fun. And then I mean it really
- 34:15depends like what you can win here.
- 34:18But oftentimes if I need the goalie start, I try to hold my
- 34:22last AD for Saturday and pick up someone playing on the Sunday.
- 34:26Yeah, in the two goalie slots I usually hold 2, sometimes 3, but
- 34:30it's never permanent. And if my goalie takes my
- 34:33goalie, that's early in the week.
- 34:35I think I just have to evaluate the situation like does my
- 34:37opponent have already 3 goalies and I know I'm not going to
- 34:40good. You know, I'm not gonna win the
- 34:41volume sets anyways. I'm not gonna try to win a
- 34:44battle that's futile, right? Like you gotta, you gotta take
- 34:46your losses and move on and maybe try to win more of the
- 34:49skitter cats and stream there. But also like one game early in
- 34:53the week doesn't necessarily cook your stats for the whole
- 34:55week, right? Like you can make it up with
- 34:57better play after that. So I don't hate picking up a
- 35:00goalie to try to make up the difference after.
- 35:02It just depends on how your opponent situation is.
- 35:04Like maybe they also have a goalie that that pooped the bed
- 35:07in the early in the early in the week or they only have two goals
- 35:09and you really can make a difference with volume.
- 35:11It's contextual, but I don't I don't hate the process.
- 35:14Yeah, there's no real right answer to this.
- 35:17It's totally situational. But I like what you said, Kevin,
- 35:20that like a really bad game to start off, really doesn't cook
- 35:24you for the. Week you could still help out.
- 35:26The game is, but with enough volume you can make up for it.
- 35:29Yeah alright FV town 714X on discord asked how many D man
- 35:36should I be holding? Only as many as the D slots I
- 35:40have or more? I also think this is sort of
- 35:45depending on how you build your team.
- 35:47If y'all face off, like let's say you're in a face off wins
- 35:51league, it's understandable that let's say you're extra guys
- 35:53would be guys to get your face off.
- 35:55That's the situation with us. Um, but more or less I would say
- 35:59that you should be holding one extra D than the amount that you
- 36:02have in. And the reason being is I find
- 36:04that oftentimes your forwards are almost full, yet you can do
- 36:08you still have an open D slot. So I like holding one extra dman
- 36:12Then there are to play. If you have a util that also
- 36:15creates a whole other thing, but let's just keep it simple.
- 36:17You have 4D slots. I like to hold 5 defensemen.
- 36:20Depends on shallow. Your leagues are held deep your
- 36:22league is. But in general I agree with
- 36:24Jackie. I think if you have 4 slots, I'm
- 36:26holding 4D and just see how deep your league is.
- 36:29Like our league is so deep that you never have any issues
- 36:31starting all your forwards. But I know a lot of leagues out
- 36:34there, depending on the size of them, like oftentimes your
- 36:36forwards will be full and your defence will be empty.
- 36:38So I think having an extra deep slot get you more games
- 36:40throughout the week and probably better value as well.
- 36:43That's why in leagues like that I usually tend to to try to get
- 36:46better defensemen on my team early in the draft because I
- 36:49know I'll be happy with the the forward depth that's available
- 36:52on waivers compared to the defence in depth.
- 36:54Yeah, absolutely. It's like really hard to pick up
- 36:56a defenseman right now. So if you actually are, if you
- 36:59right now hold 5D and they're all restorable, I wouldn't be
- 37:02trying to necessarily flip one for a forward of similar
- 37:05caliber. Like it's very valuable because
- 37:07it gets super dry as the season goes on.
- 37:11JD Whale on Discord asked when you have two goalies playing
- 37:15each other, do you always play both to guarantee the win or do
- 37:18you sit one? Good question.
- 37:20What? Do you think I mean I can I have
- 37:22a clear answer for this one. I do not always play the two
- 37:26lowest playing each other that's you're playing a game.
- 37:29I mean, obviously with goalies, it's always contextual,
- 37:31situational. But in general, if you have 3
- 37:34goalies and two of them are playing each other, I will tend
- 37:37to depends where we are in a match as well.
- 37:39But I will tend to play the two goalies that are not playing
- 37:41each other because you have the opportunity to get two wins as
- 37:45opposed to, you know, you're only going to get one win Max
- 37:48with playing two games play each other.
- 37:49So it's a it's an upside play. You kind of always want to play
- 37:52for that upside. Now, if you're in your matchup
- 37:53and you're leading and it's a Saturday and you only need to
- 37:57need one way to like Summit category, then you play the two
- 38:01goals. I play each other, right?
- 38:02But in general, I like playing for the upside and and the
- 38:05optimal scenario. But I like evaluating goalie
- 38:08situations as they come. And usually I'm playing the two
- 38:10goals that do not play each other.
- 38:12Yeah, there's like 3 goalies playing.
- 38:15Two of them are playing each other and then one playing
- 38:16another team. Look if if the other third
- 38:19goalie is playing Colorado. Yeah.
- 38:22I mean, then I'm probably just playing the two guys playing
- 38:25each other, right? But barring that situation, I
- 38:29would definitely like to try to just play the one, the one that
- 38:33I think is gonna win. And then the other guy.
- 38:36Francis on Discord asks, what are your thoughts on gatekeeping
- 38:39fantasy hockey resources? If you find a great resource
- 38:42like Bangor Management, do you avoid telling league mates so
- 38:44you have an edge? No, tell everybody only about
- 38:48anger management, though. OK.
- 38:51So I think that when it comes down to this, and I know you'll
- 38:57have a lot of thoughts on this too, but I will say that a good,
- 39:02a good way to think about this is like, I like to think of our
- 39:05Football League where everyone listens to to podcasts, you
- 39:09know? Yeah.
- 39:10That being said, you know we we consistently have good teams,
- 39:17right? It's not because you necessarily
- 39:20listen more or listen less. It's just like it doesn't really
- 39:24give your opponent that much more of an advantage if you just
- 39:26tell them about the podcasts, you know what I'm saying?
- 39:31Like it definitely helps, but some people just think of
- 39:34fantasy differently. Like you can tell your, you
- 39:36know, your league mates about it, but maybe they're not going
- 39:39to be as active listeners as you are, right?
- 39:42It really all depends on how you actually approach it.
- 39:45We give a lot of value on the podcast, I hope, and also
- 39:51through the Discord. It's great communicating with
- 39:52you guys. I've old league mates though, in
- 39:55the past, let's say about the Fantasy Footballers and I've
- 39:59still done better than they have because like I listen to it,
- 40:03let's say, more rigorously and I pay more attention.
- 40:06So that's kind of my take is that you can definitely tell
- 40:09your league mates about the resources that you use and it
- 40:12doesn't necessarily mean that you're cooked if you do that.
- 40:18Yeah, I mean, listen, obviously you want to always have an edge.
- 40:21And by finding podcasts and people that you trust and
- 40:23reliable information, you're giving yourself edge in fantasy
- 40:26hockey. But we also want to have fun
- 40:28too. And to me, like, I know that,
- 40:30you know, I've shared resources with Jake in the past.
- 40:32We complete each other in football and like every year,
- 40:34right? Like, you know, fancy
- 40:36footballers, late round fantasy with judges, IRESON and all
- 40:40these good guys that we love consulting.
- 40:42So and it's super fun to talk about.
- 40:44Like, Hey, did you listen to this recent episode?
- 40:46What do you think? And like having that discussion.
- 40:48So I think you can add an element of fun to your league
- 40:51into your, you know, fantasy hockey life with being able to
- 40:54talk about it with with your friends.
- 40:56But also, I completely understand, also wanted to keep
- 40:58the edge for yourself. If you're really in a tough
- 41:00league and you know, you don't have that camaraderie with your
- 41:02with your league mates as well already that you know, But if
- 41:06you want, if you're asking the questions, you have people you
- 41:08want to share it with, but you don't want to lose your edge.
- 41:10And I'd say like, honestly, like, I don't feel bad either
- 41:12way. If you want to tell them about
- 41:13it in the off season, go ahead, but we'll be happy if the
- 41:16community grows throughout the year.
- 41:18Yeah, that's it I and that's actually a really good point.
- 41:20It adds to it a lot like when we started talking about listening
- 41:24to the footballers and there are times and even here, like to
- 41:29give a good example, like basically Brandon Hagel was your
- 41:33signature pick and that got me super high on Brandon Hagel.
- 41:36And then I picked Brandon Hagel and he's done super duper well
- 41:39for me. But you're well ahead of me in
- 41:41the standings right now. You're like 3 spots ahead of me.
- 41:43So it's not as if like like I took your advice, which was good
- 41:47advice and then you know, you still had to pivot because you
- 41:50had conviction of other guys that we spoke about on the
- 41:52podcast. Pick them.
- 41:53And now you're doing very well and I'm doing well too.
- 41:57It's just to say that there's no like exact recipe for success.
- 42:00And if you tell other people in your league about us or about
- 42:04other resources you use it, it's gonna enhance the experience
- 42:09overall. I would say yeah, it's just fun.
- 42:13Yeah, exactly. Alright, Joshua Fearon on
- 42:16Discord asks how often do people use the wrong Discord channel to
- 42:20ask questions, which doesn't annoy you guys.
- 42:22I'll let you answer this. One yeah, I'm in this for 24/7.
- 42:26I will say the biggest thing that I see in the discord is
- 42:28that like almost nobody uses the keeper channels and the dynasty
- 42:32channels. Like people just ask the keeper
- 42:33question, dynasty questions and like the regular in season
- 42:36channels. So I mean, doesn't frustrate me
- 42:39at all. It's just about like I'm, I'm a
- 42:42little bit of an OCD person, so I like things to be organized,
- 42:45but I also just also love answering questions, interacting
- 42:48with everybody. So I don't hate it.
- 42:49But I, I saw this question come in the mail back and I was, it
- 42:53gave you a little chuckle because it's funny that other
- 42:55people are noticing when people ask questions in the wrong
- 42:57channel. But if you do that, don't, don't
- 43:00feel bad at all. Like, but it's, it's just funny.
- 43:05Alright, Genome on discord asks what are your way too early
- 43:10first round predictions for next year in a 12 team league?
- 43:13Does Macklin celebrity crack the top 12?
- 43:16Are Kaprizov, Brady to Chuck, Rantanen, Matthew still first
- 43:21round guys? All right, I think he cracks the
- 43:24top 12. I think he's done enough already
- 43:27to solidify that. I mean, McDavid, Dry Seidel,
- 43:34McKinnon should be the top three and pretty much any league.
- 43:37And then I think which Rob is, should be 4th and in points
- 43:41leagues, maybe even top three, but in Bangers league, let's say
- 43:454th. So that's pretty much the top
- 43:47four. And then in our league it was
- 43:49Matthews when 5th and then Brady went 6th.
- 43:51So that's I guess where things start being interesting, what
- 43:54it's going to look like. I can tell you it's going to
- 43:57look like, alright, it's 40. It's gonna be McDavid McKinnon 1
- 44:02and 2 dry Seidel Kucherov 3-4. Then it's gonna be Matthews 5.
- 44:07Pasta will be 6, Mccarr will be 7, Caprisa will be 8.
- 44:11And then after that we get into, you know, probably renting in
- 44:14celebrity like they were going to be there.
- 44:16That's like top 9:00-ish there. I think Jack Hughes will be in
- 44:20the conversation if people but on the on the lower end, like I
- 44:24think people will value more highly will be scared.
- 44:27There's usually always a goalie that it's up.
- 44:29There will be Hella Buck again, Probably not.
- 44:31Might be Vasilevski again next year.
- 44:34And then we're talking about, you know, the guys like Quinn
- 44:36Hughes. And I think it's gonna be like a
- 44:38top ten and then a cusp of other guys.
- 44:41Maybe Crosby sneaks back in there.
- 44:44Yeah. So you do think that?
- 44:46I think celebrities get picked. The order I said is subject to
- 44:53change, obviously, but the names are going to be there
- 44:56nonetheless, in my opinion. Yeah, I think that's fair.
- 44:59I mean if there are any other like celebrities, definitely the
- 45:02guy that comes to mind that ends up in that top 12 and depending
- 45:05on how he does rest of season Bedard before the injury kind of
- 45:09earned is. Earning that spot and I didn't
- 45:11mention Brady because if it's a banger league, if Joey gets his,
- 45:15Brady will be a first round pick.
- 45:16He deserves it really doesn't have a hits then he's not a
- 45:18first round pick. I think that's kind of where I
- 45:20where I land, but there's there's like I think 10 or 11
- 45:24guys that are a tier ahead of everybody else.
- 45:27And I would hate to have that 12th pick.
- 45:30Yeah, and celebrity is definitely.
- 45:32Definitely, yeah. Celebrity for sure in there.
- 45:34So and you said Capris office too?
- 45:36Yeah, Caprisa for sure. Alright, it's alright.
- 45:38Cool. So not too much change, but
- 45:40celebrities definitely. And really, I would not be
- 45:43surprised if Bedard is the 12th. Honestly, yeah, with how much,
- 45:47how well he's played this season and if maybe they make a big
- 45:49move in the off season. Absolutely.
- 45:52OK AOL it's 93 on Discord asked with Robertson sign and trade
- 45:59rumors going around. Would you guys as Habs fans do,
- 46:03You're asleep. Kovsky plus a first round pick
- 46:05for Robertson. OK.
- 46:07Does it? Real question, not a fantasy
- 46:09question. Yeah, yeah, this is this is an
- 46:13interesting one. I would say that I'd rather have
- 46:16Slough in a first over Robertson because even though I think
- 46:21Robertson's got. First of all, I'm excited to
- 46:23hear what our Dallas Stars fans have to say in the Discord.
- 46:25About really fun. We have a lot of Dallas fans.
- 46:29Shout out shout out Jodari. Yes, yes, this is good.
- 46:32So I think first of all, if you gotta pay the 1st in addition to
- 46:37that, that's gonna be really, really tough for me to think
- 46:40about. I think that Sloth has done so
- 46:43well this year. He's made real strides.
- 46:44Now is he has a lead of a player as Robertson?
- 46:47No, he brings a new like a dynamic though to the Canadians
- 46:51that I think would be, is, is almost as valuable as what
- 46:54Robertson could bring. Not to mention the fact that
- 46:56he's still super young. So to me, I'm keeping Sloth on a
- 46:59first over Robertson for sure. Same for me.
- 47:03Yeah, what about if it's just slow for Robertson?
- 47:07Slaughter Robertson, probably, yeah.
- 47:09Robertson, You're taking Robertson?
- 47:11I think so. I get it, I get it.
- 47:14It's just. You have a Robertson in like a
- 47:18Caulfield, so Slave is kind of like a different type of player
- 47:21that can bring maybe a different dynamic that is maybe more
- 47:23valuable. But yeah, I think Robertson is a
- 47:26safer play for Got. It can contribute to points on
- 47:28the team so. Yes, which I I definitely think
- 47:31for their whole careers like slots and not gonna get 100
- 47:33points I Robertson can, but they're you know, this is just
- 47:37this is just specific for the Habs.
- 47:38I think I'd rather just keep slave.
- 47:40But if I'm starting A-Team from scratch.
- 47:42If I'm starting A-Team from scratch, I'm picking Robertson.
- 47:44Let me very clear. But I think that they're
- 47:47building the system well and slow fits into its own.
- 47:49That's my answer. Joshua, if you're on Discord,
- 47:52asked what are realistic NHL trades you think will happen
- 47:55before the deadline and how will that impact fantasy value?
- 47:58Include both sides of the trade if you can.
- 48:01I can zoom through these if you want.
- 48:04Both sides of the trade will be difficult.
- 48:06I don't want to project that much.
- 48:07We could spend the whole podcast episode talking about that.
- 48:10But the guys that I feel like are almost assuredly getting
- 48:13treated or or maybe get treated, I think the big ones are going
- 48:17to be not some Kadri keys on the Calgary Flames right now and
- 48:20he's out of form. I think he does get traded to a
- 48:24team that needs a centre come trade deadline.
- 48:25I think Calgary is a seller and I think his value goes up.
- 48:29I don't think, I mean, right now his deployment is really good on
- 48:32Calgary, but the production is not there.
- 48:33I think he might go to a better situation on Calgary as well.
- 48:37Rasmus Anderson, his name has been in trade talks the whole
- 48:39year. Now as Calgary falls out of the
- 48:41picture, I think he's going to be a coveted asset for a team
- 48:44that's competing. He can be a power play
- 48:46quarterback, but he's also just a really good defence.
- 48:48I think his value, honestly, I'm his value has potential to go
- 48:52down depending on the team, but it could also go up if he's the
- 48:55main power play quarterback on the team that he goes to.
- 48:58Dougie Hamilton. We talked about it Panera and if
- 49:00the Rangers really fall out, he would be like maybe the spiciest
- 49:03guy getting treated and we talked about key for sure what
- 49:06he feels like he's on the way out.
- 49:08Absolutely. They're holding him out of games
- 49:09right now because it feels like a trade is is inevitable and his
- 49:14value absolutely goes down once he gets traded and that's why he
- 49:17was a a sell high target on a recent but also high up.
- 49:19Some stamp goes through. Stamp goes, I think Marshall
- 49:23Marshall for sure is getting traded to yeah and his value I
- 49:26feel like can't can't go down. So whatever team he goes to, he
- 49:29hopefully ends up at the top six with a power play one spot.
- 49:32I think it's most likely top 6 power play 2, depending where he
- 49:35goes. Like he might go to the Habs if
- 49:36he goes to have these on power play 1.
- 49:38So there's just so many names we could talk about.
- 49:41I think those are the main ones. Yep.
- 49:43OK Waffle 5 Tomber on discord asked if your league goes until
- 49:48the last week of the season, is it worth it?
- 49:50Is it worth avoiding tall players on top teams since they
- 49:54may get rested? Are you Like, I think it's one
- 49:57of those things that definitely wouldn't avoid if you're talking
- 50:01about the draft, like I'm still taking, you know, the McDavid
- 50:03and McKinnon to the one and two type thing.
- 50:05But as the season goes on, like what I wanna trade for, I can
- 50:12trade away those guys if I'm getting like an incredible,
- 50:17let's say, return on a team that may be on the cusp of competing.
- 50:20Like if you could trade away McDavid for this is without
- 50:25knowing the week 24 schedule off my heart.
- 50:27But for like a like a Matthews plus Jarvis, it could be kind of
- 50:35interesting, you know, And I don't think it's impossible to
- 50:37do a deal like that. What do you think?
- 50:41Yeah. I mean, I think absolutely the
- 50:43guys that first of all don't already have the a great week 24
- 50:47schedule. If I can make a lateral move to
- 50:49a team that I know is going to be competing that there's less
- 50:51chances of those guys getting arrested, I would make the moves
- 50:55because we see we see it every year.
- 50:56There's a reason why playoffs in most competitive leagues and in
- 51:01week 23 is because that week 24 is is crazy like is first of all
- 51:07week and 1/2. So we have like teams that play
- 51:09like 6-7 games and then 6-7 and then we also.
- 51:13Really open your gloss over. I say that I have to do it and
- 51:19these guys get arrested every year we see it like we saw last
- 51:21year, we saw the dry saddles get arrested.
- 51:23So it's it's really tough and I would be I would definitely be
- 51:27looking to to make a a move, but I think you also never know.
- 51:30So it's such an ambiguous situation.
- 51:32First of all, in the future, save yourself, make your weak
- 51:35championship week, though before last week of this season.
- 51:38But to answer your question as well, yes I'm definitely taking
- 51:41it into account and definitely trying to move off, but I'm not
- 51:44trying to take a huge discount just to avoid the guy
- 51:47potentially getting arrested. If I do lateral move to a safer
- 51:50option I would do it though. Yeah, a lateral move, like, I
- 51:54mean, it's, it's tough like depends because like the ones
- 51:56that are gonna get seated, said Sat.
- 51:58Sat yeah, it would be the top guy.
- 52:02So it is a little bit tricky, I would say, but yeah, I mean,
- 52:04that's the ideal. Or if you can just get some
- 52:07value that's gonna be similar, maybe a little low key like the
- 52:10one I mentioned. Like I think is a different
- 52:12thing where it's like you're training a lower tier first
- 52:15round pick guy for your trading away a higher tier one for a
- 52:18lower tier one and getting a really, really amazing plus.
- 52:21That could be an option. But definitely moving forward
- 52:23and your leagues in week 23. Waffle 5 Topper also on Distort
- 52:27asked how much value do you give up for a better playoff
- 52:31schedule? Are you willing to trade down to
- 52:33improve your schedule? For example, Caprisa versus
- 52:36Brat? Like, to me, that's way too big
- 52:38of a discrepancy. I'll just I answered this in the
- 52:41discord, so I'm I feel like waffles number already has his
- 52:46answer. But yeah, so quickly on this
- 52:49one. I definitely would be willing to
- 52:51take a discount, but it's always there's there's tears in this
- 52:54thresholds and like capris off the bra would be too big of a
- 52:56threshold. I think three games of Kaprizov
- 52:59is worth just as much as four games of Brat, and he could be
- 53:03even better, right? So definitely looking to
- 53:05improve. And it's one of those like
- 53:07middle guys that I'm looking to make the tear down to for the
- 53:11better playoff schedule because that's when you know, guys are
- 53:13more comparable statistics and the quantity can really make a
- 53:16difference. But with the Super elite guys, I
- 53:18don't really. I don't really like doing that
- 53:21in general. Yeah, OK.
- 53:24Brian on Discord asks. I just acquired Item Fox.
- 53:28Would you choose him as a keeper for the next year over Reinhart,
- 53:30Daleen, Bouchard or Gunther? I guess small caveat, it really
- 53:35depends, like if it's like a round to round thing, you know
- 53:38what I mean? Like I don't think it's round to
- 53:39round thing. So it's just simple keeper so.
- 53:41Simple keeper. I'm probably taking all of these
- 53:44guys over on Fox. I think for me, the only one
- 53:47that's close is Gunther. I think we expect a lot of good
- 53:51things for Gunther this year and next year.
- 53:54And but the valuable, the value from having the defensemen that
- 53:58gives you that amount of points is also up there.
- 54:01So for me for sure, Reinhart, Darling, Bouchard cemented as my
- 54:04keepers and then it's close between Gunter and Fox.
- 54:06If you don't have 3 defensemen keepers, maybe that gives you
- 54:09the edge to Gunther, but I think that's where the value is
- 54:11closest. I do like Fox better though.
- 54:13I think just the defenseman and the production from that
- 54:16position is just, yeah, too good.
- 54:18Either Gunther could be a super good the shots.
- 54:20Are great clips. Yeah, he's, he could be.
- 54:22Elite Yeah, Pantaloni on Discord asks how do you guys plan on
- 54:26dealing with answering questions such giving advice when it comes
- 54:29to the upcoming community leagues?
- 54:33Well, this this kind of ties into the to, you know, Francis
- 54:37question, you know, about gatekeeping fantasy hockey
- 54:40resources. We're definitely gonna continue
- 54:42the podcast, be active in the Discord.
- 54:45And when it comes down to it, it's, I think it's what Kevin
- 54:48said, is that it's really just about having a good time.
- 54:52I mean, listen to community leagues are going to be exactly
- 54:55like the Manure management league of record that we've been
- 54:57playing for over a decade. It's it's going to be the same
- 54:59setting. So it's going to be fun to see
- 55:01everybody else competing those leagues and we're going to be in
- 55:03those these two. And we're still finding out the
- 55:07structure of how we wanna make the community league because we
- 55:09definitely wanted to be like a a tier based system and like
- 55:12relegation moving up and down. I think it could be really cool.
- 55:15Nothing is set in stone as of right now, but still going to be
- 55:18giving advice to everybody in the evening, the playing field.
- 55:23Obviously everybody will know what our opinion is and
- 55:25hopefully that helps a lot of you guys out in the community,
- 55:28but nothing is changing on our end.
- 55:29Everybody's getting the same advice, and may the best man
- 55:32win. I'm excited.
- 55:34Or woman or man. Yeah, I'm excited to see how
- 55:39this is gonna go with the mailbag questions next year,
- 55:43when you know what I mean? It's like.
- 55:46Maybe also like next season, we're most likely going to have
- 55:49a patron that we have a lot of requests for that.
- 55:53And maybe that's where we're able to give more personalized
- 55:57content specific to the major leagues where, you know, you're
- 55:59asking a question and you know, everybody else in your league is
- 56:01also listening. And that's maybe maybe that's,
- 56:04you know, the crux of your question right here.
- 56:06So if you maybe we'll figure out a system that works best, but
- 56:10we're going to do our best to keep some of the information
- 56:13private. Obviously, we can't answer
- 56:14everything in the DMS, so we'll have to see what's the best way
- 56:17to go about that. But everybody's getting advice
- 56:19if you want it. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:21So Jordan likes asking these type of questions.
- 56:25So Jordan Dairy on Discord ask would you rather have to drive
- 56:29Ryan Reeves with the first overall pick or Matt Rampant?
- 56:32Let me just preface this with saying that last week he asked
- 56:36if the first overall pick would you rather Stuart Skinner or
- 56:39Tristan Jarry. So he's making us ask the answer
- 56:44these tough questions. Probably for me like this, it's
- 56:51just, I don't even know, maybe Ryan Reeves, I guess.
- 56:56But the playoff schedule though on the Rangers.
- 56:59Alright, alright, fine. Thanks George area for this
- 57:02question, but it's gotta be Ryan Reeves for me just because I
- 57:04think he's just in the lineup like Rempe is not always in the
- 57:07lineup and I want consistent production.
- 57:09I don't want my first round pick to be scratched every other game
- 57:11so. Yeah, that's it.
- 57:12I'm gonna think we're both going.
- 57:14Ryan Reeves and the alliteration can't go wrong.
- 57:18Last but not least, Sheridan on Discord asked What are we
- 57:22thinking with that? What are we thinking with Hedman
- 57:25when he comes back with the way Radish is playing?
- 57:29My admin yeah, Hedman has been a topic of conversation to say the
- 57:32least over the last couple months.
- 57:34Radish is on fire guys, this this guy is playing out of his
- 57:39mind, first of all. And it's so funny because he's
- 57:40playing out of his mind and the team doesn't want to pay him
- 57:42because even them they know it might just be a one hit wonder.
- 57:47So my take is that I think he's playing so well and they don't
- 57:50want to mess things up that even when Headman comes back, like
- 57:53Radish had power play 1 before had been left injured, right?
- 57:56But maybe he had it because it had been was banged up and knew
- 57:59he couldn't play his full potential.
- 58:01I'm still of the mind that if if Hedman wants power play one,
- 58:03he'll get power play one. Like if he's just like, you
- 58:05know, I want it, I'm gonna have it.
- 58:08They'll probably have to do that for him.
- 58:10But Radish is playing so well that I think if the team has any
- 58:13say in it, they're going to lead with the guy that's been
- 58:15producing for them while he's been out.
- 58:17So if I've had mine, he has little to no trade value right
- 58:19now. He's just an IR stash.
- 58:21I do like acquiring him as an IR stash.
- 58:23But if you're playing, if you're paying, you know, similar value,
- 58:26right? Like he's I'm not giving
- 58:27anything of consequence that get him on my roster.
- 58:29And if I'm having, I'm pretty worried.
- 58:31I think the sentiment is negative.
- 58:32I think the odds that radish keeps the job or high.
- 58:36But if you have conviction that you think that human is is gonna
- 58:38take it when it comes back, then this is an opportunity to truly,
- 58:41truly buy low. And I would, and I don't hate
- 58:43that. I think radish keeps it, but
- 58:47obviously like it's still kind of so well, yeah, I know.
- 58:51I I, I think Rajesh just gonna keep it and I I still think that
- 58:54it is a buy low for Hedman. I mean he'll have way less value
- 58:58on power play too. If he's on P2 I don't want on my
- 59:01roster. Period.
- 59:02Like at all. It's just like, I don't know
- 59:04how. Consistent.
- 59:06Yeah. I just don't know how consistent
- 59:09it's necessarily gonna be though, you know what I mean?
- 59:11So it's like, yes, route is going to be power play one.
- 59:15It could still be somewhat fluid though.
- 59:16Therefore, if you can trade away really not much for Hedman,
- 59:20cool. But I still think radish is
- 59:22going to keep it. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's tough.
- 59:26It's it's tough. But we give our best projection.
- 59:29But at the end of the day, like Tampa is a team that is also
- 59:31very secretive, so we won't know until he comes back and we see
- 59:34what happens. But we give our best guess and I
- 59:36think both of our best guesses are reddish.
- 59:39Probably keeps the job. That's it.
