- 2:19Speaker 2: in our good friend Angie Gill and Wata from the
- 2:20Speaker 2: Cannaal Charleston Newmain Association with this week's Adopt Me Please
- 2:23Speaker 2: Pet of the Week. Angie, good morning, welcome to the show.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Good morning, I'm glad to be here.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Sound like you're a little stuffed up like everybody else
- 2:30Speaker 2: is right now.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I have been battling a pretty pretty tough bug
- 2:35Speaker 4: this week. It's Wednesday. I lost my voice completely.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Oh well, I'm glad you're with us today because it's
- 2:41Speaker 2: not Friday without Angie. I'll tell you that.
- 2:43Speaker 5: I'll tell you that right now.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Really, thank you. I really didn't want to have somebody
- 2:47Speaker 4: feel in for me. I love doing this.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Segment and we'll get to our Adopt Me Please pet
- 2:53Speaker 2: of the Week here momentarily. Actually, let's go and take
- 2:56Speaker 2: care of that now because we get some serious stuff
- 2:58Speaker 2: that I want to get to. So tell us about Rico.
- 3:02Speaker 2: That is our do me please pet of the week.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Uh So, Rico came to the shelter as astray, as
- 3:08Speaker 4: most of them do. He's about six years old. He's
- 3:11Speaker 4: a little bit on the older side. He is a
- 3:14Speaker 4: a very mannerly dog. He loves treats and he knows
- 3:17Speaker 4: how to sit and shake for treats. He's neutered, as
- 3:21Speaker 4: up to date on vaccines as we can get him,
- 3:23Speaker 4: and they would likely do best in a home without
- 3:25Speaker 4: really young children, just because you know, he gets startled,
- 3:28Speaker 4: bow out, noises, things like that, and would probably do
- 3:31Speaker 4: best if you have female dogs at home. Cats we
- 3:34Speaker 4: are unsure, but I would lean towards probably a no
- 3:37Speaker 4: for Rico, but female dogs he does great with.
- 3:41Speaker 2: He's good looking dog. What kind of dog is Rico?
- 3:45Speaker 4: I would say maybe a bully mix of sorts. There
- 3:48Speaker 4: are you know, different variants of bully breeds, so just
- 3:51Speaker 4: any of them mixed together problems.
- 3:53Speaker 2: That's kind of what I thought when you sent me
- 3:54Speaker 2: his picture. And again his picture as always whether or
- 3:57Speaker 2: not me please put it the week Posted Dave Allen
- 3:58Speaker 2: Radio and Facebook That CCHS Network Facebook page and that
- 4:02Speaker 2: Dave A seventy on X. I thought there was a
- 4:03Speaker 2: little bit of a bully in there when I when
- 4:05Speaker 2: I saw his picture, he's.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Got that like real blocky head that bullies typically have.
- 4:10Speaker 2: So that's a real blockie head. That is an official
- 4:14Speaker 2: descriptive term from the Angie's glossary, a blockie head. All right,
- 4:19Speaker 2: So what's what's his story about? How long has he
- 4:22Speaker 2: been there? What kind of a situation do you come from?
- 4:25Speaker 2: Do you have any idea?
- 4:26Speaker 4: Uh So, he's only been with us for a couple
- 4:28Speaker 4: of months. I think since the beginning of February, maybe
- 4:32Speaker 4: the end of January. He's not been there incredibly long,
- 4:36Speaker 4: and he was brought in as just astray. Now, somebody
- 4:40Speaker 4: did reach out to us and let us know that
- 4:41Speaker 4: they know this dog. They aren't the owner, but they
- 4:44Speaker 4: do know his real name is Rico, and they were
- 4:47Speaker 4: supposed to inform the owner that he was, you know,
- 4:49Speaker 4: at our shelter. That's been a few weeks back and
- 4:51Speaker 4: nobody's been up there to get him. So so it
- 4:55Speaker 4: kind of a backstory, but not a whole lot, all right.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Uh So, Rico is our dog, and again he is
- 5:02Speaker 2: six years old. You referred to him as a class clown.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I like that.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Uh yeah, So the class clown tag. If you look
- 5:09Speaker 4: at our website and look at dogs our for dogs
- 5:12Speaker 4: that you know are just like the entertaining, welcoming, literally
- 5:16Speaker 4: class clowns of the group. They just they're really great
- 5:19Speaker 4: with people and you know, love to socialize with people.
- 5:22Speaker 4: So I always love to see that tag on their profile.
- 5:26Speaker 2: All right, so let's get serious here. You have an
- 5:30Speaker 2: intake pause up there. Explain what that is and why
- 5:32Speaker 2: it's happening.
- 5:34Speaker 4: So we are pausing our intakes for dogs and puppies
- 5:37Speaker 4: for two weeks. And that is not a decision that
- 5:40Speaker 4: has come lightly. That is a decision that was made
- 5:42Speaker 4: with a lot of thought behind it and a lot
- 5:45Speaker 4: of caution. We've had some positive distemper cases in our shelter.
- 5:51Speaker 4: If you don't know what distemper is, it is a really,
- 5:53Speaker 4: really nasty disease typically spread by wildlife critters such as raccoons,
- 6:00Speaker 4: and it causes neurological issues. It causes a lot of
- 6:03Speaker 4: upper upper respiratory issues, and if left untreated, and sometimes
- 6:09Speaker 4: if it's treated but it's progressed too far, it can
- 6:12Speaker 4: result in death in you know wildlife creatures as well
- 6:16Speaker 4: as dogs. The cats are safe, which is why we
- 6:18Speaker 4: have not paused intake on our cats. So this disease
- 6:22Speaker 4: is very very serious, and since we've had multiple cases
- 6:25Speaker 4: in our shelter, we are pausing intakes, not not for
- 6:30Speaker 4: any reason other than to simply protect new dogs that
- 6:33Speaker 4: would be coming into our into our shelter. Two weeks
- 6:38Speaker 4: that is long enough for us to vaccinate a new
- 6:40Speaker 4: dog that might be coming into our shelter and sending
- 6:44Speaker 4: them back out with the public, letting that vaccine incubate
- 6:48Speaker 4: in their bodies. So essentially, you know, the question might
- 6:52Speaker 4: be why two weeks We're wanting that vaccine to have
- 6:55Speaker 4: enough time to work and fully protect them before coming
- 6:58Speaker 4: into the shelter.
- 7:00Speaker 2: All right, And again this is just going to be
- 7:01Speaker 2: for two weeks and does not affect cats. It's just dogs.
- 7:04Speaker 2: So if somebody, if you and I'm sure your phone rings,
- 7:07Speaker 2: you get an email or something from somebody that or
- 7:10Speaker 2: for somebody that that has animals that need to go somewhere,
- 7:13Speaker 2: how do you handle that if you're not taking dogs
- 7:15Speaker 2: at this point.
- 7:16Speaker 4: So we are of course triaging situations. Of course, there's
- 7:20Speaker 4: always going to be a dog that's sick or that's injured,
- 7:23Speaker 4: that desperately needs us, and we are creating a plan
- 7:27Speaker 4: for that. We're not going to tell you, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 4: if a dog gets hit by a car, we're not
- 7:30Speaker 4: going to tell you to keep it and take it
- 7:31Speaker 4: somewhere else. We are going to triage that as we can.
- 7:35Speaker 4: We do have an area where there have been no
- 7:37Speaker 4: positive disinfricases, you know, in the in that area, So
- 7:41Speaker 4: it's our little quarantine area for news that absolutely have
- 7:45Speaker 4: to come in. In the meantime, we are going to
- 7:48Speaker 4: get if it is a healthy stray owners surrender. We
- 7:52Speaker 4: are going to give those people that bring them up
- 7:54Speaker 4: there the supplies they need to keep them for that
- 7:56Speaker 4: two week period. So you need a crate, if you
- 7:58Speaker 4: need food, you need medicine, whatever, you know. The condition
- 8:02Speaker 4: is for you to keep this dog for two weeks.
- 8:04Speaker 4: That's what we're gonna do.
- 8:05Speaker 2: You were talking with Ang Gilllan Water for the Canal Charleston.
- 8:07Speaker 2: He made association the Dave Island Show on five. Eddieline
- 8:10Speaker 2: brought to you inmpirted by Pinnacle Consultants, helping to identify
- 8:12Speaker 2: environmental concerns as business led mold and indoor quality issues
- 8:16Speaker 2: and buildings all across the state, providing inspections, testing, and
- 8:19Speaker 2: accredited lab services you can trust. Check out Pinnacle Corp
- 8:22Speaker 2: dot net helping you understand your environment because what you
- 8:25Speaker 2: don't know can hurt you. I promise we're going to
- 8:28Speaker 2: get more positive stuff. But you had a horrific case
- 8:30Speaker 2: this week, and I was reading this on your Facebook page.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Actually somebody texted about it as well. A dog who
- 8:36Speaker 2: was in total darkness and being fed through a hole.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Uh yeah, that he was being fed through a whole
- 8:43Speaker 4: in a basement. Our team arrived to assist the city
- 8:47Speaker 4: of a City of Charleston humane officer read to assist
- 8:51Speaker 4: him in getting this dog out of this house. And
- 8:55Speaker 4: they literally had to unbolt a door with a drill
- 8:59Speaker 4: to get access to this basement. And of course when
- 9:03Speaker 4: our team came in, the dog was really scared. He
- 9:05Speaker 4: was barking at them wanting them to go away, which
- 9:08Speaker 4: you know, being locked in a basement bite do that
- 9:10Speaker 4: to you. But once he got back to the shelter,
- 9:13Speaker 4: he has been one of the friendliest dogs. We don't
- 9:16Speaker 4: know a whole lot about. He is available for an option,
- 9:18Speaker 4: but we don't know a whole lot about you know
- 9:20Speaker 4: how he does with other dogs, how he does with kids.
- 9:22Speaker 4: So that is still up in the air. But as
- 9:24Speaker 4: far as with our staff staff members, he's been perfect
- 9:28Speaker 4: and you would never know he's been locked in a basement.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I mean, what was the situation, you know, what was
- 9:32Speaker 2: the situation?
- 9:33Speaker 1: Why?
- 9:33Speaker 2: I mean, are you liberty to say? I mean why?
- 9:36Speaker 2: Why was he locked in an abasement like that?
- 9:41Speaker 4: Yeah, so there were people living there, and they actually
- 9:44Speaker 4: were on scene for a brief moment, long enough to
- 9:46Speaker 4: sign some owner surrender paperwork, and then they took off
- 9:50Speaker 4: running from our staff members. Our staff members, you know,
- 9:53Speaker 4: weren't going to patronize them or anything. You know, we
- 9:55Speaker 4: weren't going to do anything. We just wanted to, you know,
- 9:58Speaker 4: questions about this dog. Is he going with kids? As
- 10:00Speaker 4: you get with Kat, but literally long enough to sign
- 10:03Speaker 4: the paperwork and then they took off.
- 10:04Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't I don't know how you all
- 10:08Speaker 2: do what you do. I'll be honest with you, I'd
- 10:10Speaker 2: probably be catching up, you know, a murder rap or
- 10:12Speaker 2: something if I had to do what we do. And
- 10:14Speaker 2: the text I had about that Angie, somebody says, does
- 10:17Speaker 2: the dog have any vision problems or suffering emotional or
- 10:20Speaker 2: traumatic distress.
- 10:24Speaker 4: So far, I mean he's only been with us for
- 10:26Speaker 4: a couple of days. So far, we're not noticing anything
- 10:28Speaker 4: that would you know, come about as a result from
- 10:31Speaker 4: being locked in a basement. There would probably be a
- 10:34Speaker 4: lot of fear based aggression from you know, no contact
- 10:37Speaker 4: with humans and being locked down there. None of that.
- 10:40Speaker 4: He's been loose, wiggily, very happy with our staff. But again,
- 10:44Speaker 4: you know, we haven't tried him with other dogs. We
- 10:46Speaker 4: haven't you know, seen how he does with kids. So
- 10:49Speaker 4: there may be some things that pop up the more
- 10:51Speaker 4: we get to know him, but as of right now,
- 10:53Speaker 4: there's no red flag puts him.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Somebody ask about the distemper cases that you talked about,
- 10:58Speaker 2: Are they coming from one particular era.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Yeah, they are not. They're kind of all over the
- 11:03Speaker 4: map from all you know, spots all corners of Kennall
- 11:07Speaker 4: County if you will. So we've had Allen Creek area,
- 11:12Speaker 4: We've had the Bell area, Cabin Creek. I mean, it's
- 11:16Speaker 4: just been all over the map. And one reason we're
- 11:19Speaker 4: thinking that is wildlife kind of goes all over the map,
- 11:23Speaker 4: and we do think all of these cases are based
- 11:26Speaker 4: on the the raccoons that are in the area that
- 11:29Speaker 4: are kind of spreading it without knowing they have it,
- 11:31Speaker 4: and that they're spreading it.
- 11:33Speaker 2: All right, Texas and Tails at your big event April
- 11:35Speaker 2: twenty fifth, seven o'clock JQ, Diggts and Saltworks and Malden.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Get those tickets soon, how I mean, you're probably getting
- 11:42Speaker 2: close to being out, aren't you.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Very close to being out? I think there are under
- 11:47Speaker 4: twenty tickets remaining, So if you and your friends want
- 11:50Speaker 4: to go, now the time to get those tickets.
- 11:52Speaker 2: All right, what do you need of up there?
- 11:54Speaker 4: Especially so right now, we're in need of dishwashing liquid.
- 11:58Speaker 4: We have to spray down our concrete playyards. If you've
- 12:02Speaker 4: been to the shelter, you know what I'm talking about.
- 12:04Speaker 4: It's the area where the dogs play. We have to
- 12:07Speaker 4: spray that down with on dishwashing liquid at least once
- 12:09Speaker 4: a day. With the December outbreak that's occurring, so we
- 12:13Speaker 4: are going through dishwashing liquid very quickly. We're also in
- 12:17Speaker 4: need of wet food of any brand for dogs or cats,
- 12:20Speaker 4: and period of chowel products as always.
- 12:23Speaker 2: All right, you guys out and about anywhere this weekend,
- 12:26Speaker 2: we're actually.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Going to be A, T and T Puppies tomorrow.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Okay, Angel, you cut out, You cut out on me,
- 12:33Speaker 2: You cut out on me real bad. Where are you
- 12:35Speaker 2: going to be?
- 12:35Speaker 4: Oh? Oh, the AT and T in Kanos City. Did
- 12:38Speaker 4: that go through?
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yeah? AT and T and Canon City.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Okay, go ahead, yep, between twelve and three tomorrow.
- 12:44Speaker 2: All right, andew we appreciate you being here, Thanks a lot,
- 12:47Speaker 2: and we'll talk again next week. Thanks a lot.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Alrighty sounds good, have a good one.
- 12:53Speaker 2: You know, sometimes doing this job, as I've been hosting
- 12:57Speaker 2: the show for almost six years now, I've been doing
- 12:58Speaker 2: this for thirty eight years, it's when you hear those
- 13:01Speaker 2: stories like that, I mean, it's just you try to
- 13:04Speaker 2: be objective. I'm not a journalist. I tell people all
- 13:07Speaker 2: the time, I'm not a journalist. But it's hard sometimes
- 13:10Speaker 2: when you hear those stories about the situation with the dog,
- 13:13Speaker 2: and of course we're coming off the you know what
- 13:16Speaker 2: happened with Stubbs. We told you that story before, and
- 13:19Speaker 2: sometimes it's it's it's it's it's very difficult. So nine
- 13:23Speaker 2: twenty and again our not me, please put it the week.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Picture is posted a Dave Alan Radio on Facebook at
- 13:29Speaker 2: Dave a seventy on X in the WHS network page.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Rico is the dog, six years old. She calls him
- 13:35Speaker 2: a class clown. Vaccinated newtered seems to do best with
- 13:40Speaker 2: female dogs, a little bit of pit bull in them,
- 13:42Speaker 2: but great personality. Picture posted on my social media and
- 13:46Speaker 2: also you can go to my at dave a seventy
- 13:50Speaker 2: X page and check it out. Sorry, sorry, folks, it's
- 13:53Speaker 2: just when I hear that story kind of kind of
- 13:55Speaker 2: bothers me a little bit about the dog. So anyway,
- 13:58Speaker 2: we'll take a break when we come back a little happier.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Notes day's first day of spring. About an hour from
- 14:03Speaker 2: now is when spring officially kicks in. Mediorologist Brian Hughes

- 16:31Speaker 2: I said this before. Uh with the and we're talking
- 16:34Speaker 2: to Brian Hughes coming up a little bit later on.
- 16:35Speaker 2: With a winter that we've had, we all need some
- 16:38Speaker 2: baseball in our lives. We do, we do, And you
- 16:41Speaker 2: got fan Fest going on tomorrow, tell us about it.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Yeah, So we have fan Fast tomorrow.
- 16:47Speaker 9: It's celebrating the ticket launch of individual tickets for the
- 16:50Speaker 9: baseball season. We're going to have free entry to the ballpark,
- 16:53Speaker 9: free minigolf inflatables on the field.
- 16:56Speaker 5: There's going to be at least eight of those.
- 16:58Speaker 9: And uh, you know, we've got some half rice appetizers
- 17:00Speaker 9: for new items that we've got this year for the
- 17:02Speaker 9: baseball season. We're doing like a three or four hot dog,
- 17:04Speaker 9: which is a double dog on a big long bun,
- 17:09Speaker 9: and then we're doing a buffalo chicken sandwich.
- 17:11Speaker 5: It's gonna be really long too.
- 17:12Speaker 2: So I'm speak both of those. Oh yeah, yeah, And
- 17:16Speaker 2: I always thow it out to you if you ever
- 17:17Speaker 2: need anybody to come and you know, be a taste tester. Brian,
- 17:21Speaker 2: my producer, and I were right there.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Well we need you all right, Well there you go.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Always well road trip, road trip, road trip, road trip
- 17:27Speaker 2: across this A lot of stuff does go. I mean
- 17:29Speaker 2: every year, what what for years when it comes to baseball,
- 17:32Speaker 2: whether it's Major League or you know, whatever, it was
- 17:35Speaker 2: always you went to the ballpark, you had a hot dog,
- 17:37Speaker 2: you had a beer, you got pretzels, popcorn, you know,
- 17:39Speaker 2: whatever the case may be. And that was pretty much it.
- 17:41Speaker 2: It has become a national obsession now ballpark food.
- 17:45Speaker 9: Oh yeah, yeah, you know, I mean we uh, last
- 17:48Speaker 9: year we had like a like a hot chicken honey
- 17:52Speaker 9: waffle sandwich and it was a lot but it was
- 17:55Speaker 9: really good and people loved it. The downside is that
- 17:58Speaker 9: it was a lot to say.
- 18:01Speaker 2: And a lot of calories.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Well yeah, that was that and we were.
- 18:05Speaker 2: About the third inning. If you if you order one
- 18:07Speaker 2: in the first.
- 18:09Speaker 5: That's for sure.
- 18:10Speaker 9: So you know, we're excited to kind of bring things
- 18:12Speaker 9: a little closer to baseball. The buffalo chicken sandwich is
- 18:15Speaker 9: definitely a step out there, but you know, I think
- 18:18Speaker 9: that you know that plus all the ballpark favorites, the
- 18:21Speaker 9: big huge pretzel, the you know, cold beers and hot
- 18:24Speaker 9: dogs and burgers.
- 18:24Speaker 2: And it's going to be a beautiful day tomorrow. I mean,
- 18:28Speaker 2: this was going to be a fantastic weekend. Looks like
- 18:30Speaker 2: we might have a little rain like late tonight and
- 18:32Speaker 2: possibly very late on Sunday, but tomorrow would be a
- 18:35Speaker 2: great day to come over to the ballpark and and
- 18:37Speaker 2: that kind of environment to bring the family out, just
- 18:40Speaker 2: walk around a little bit, just doesn't cost anything to
- 18:42Speaker 2: get in, So just to get to hang out the
- 18:44Speaker 2: ballpark a little bit on a Saturday afternoon, Saturday morning
- 18:46Speaker 2: into afternoon.
- 18:47Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, it's ended too, So you know, we're really excited.
- 18:51Speaker 9: I think that you know, we're also going to do
- 18:53Speaker 9: the first fifty people that get there are getting tickets
- 18:56Speaker 9: to the home run derby. Okay, you know, it's a
- 18:58Speaker 9: quick giveaway for people to come early. But you know,
- 19:01Speaker 9: I think that the excitement is just that the ballpark's
- 19:04Speaker 9: here again, we're open, and we're we're excited about baseball.
- 19:08Speaker 2: All right. And we interviewed Mayor good One a couple
- 19:10Speaker 2: of weeks ago about you know, the working on the
- 19:13Speaker 2: least getting everything, you know, taking care of their So
- 19:15Speaker 2: we'll have some progress, I'm sure to report there. We
- 19:17Speaker 2: got Marshall WVU coming to go markin Ballpark talking about that.
- 19:21Speaker 9: Tickets go on sale shortly ten am today, So Marshall
- 19:24Speaker 9: W's May fifth, six pm. W will be the home team.
- 19:29Speaker 9: Marshall will be the away team this year. So if
- 19:31Speaker 9: you want to sit on either side, WVU is on
- 19:33Speaker 9: the first base side, Marshall third base side. This year
- 19:38Speaker 9: they kind of swap back and forth, but you know,
- 19:40Speaker 9: it's it's definitely one of the biggest days of the
- 19:42Speaker 9: year for us. We're always excited to bring the guys
- 19:44Speaker 9: from WV and Marshall down and showcase their talent to
- 19:47Speaker 9: all of Charleston.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Well, and everybody comes out for it.
- 19:50Speaker 1: You know.
- 19:50Speaker 2: That's the thing about it is people, as you said,
- 19:52Speaker 2: the WVU fans, the Marshall fans and just and as
- 19:55Speaker 2: I say this all the time, you can be fans
- 19:58Speaker 2: of both. You can be fans of both. You can
- 20:00Speaker 2: have your rooting interest in that game, but you can't
- 20:02Speaker 2: be fans of both. And we've seen Marshall particularly play
- 20:05Speaker 2: a lot of games over Gomart Ballpark over the years.
- 20:08Speaker 9: Yeah, they did while they were building their stadium. They
- 20:11Speaker 9: did their whole season with us a couple of years ago.
- 20:13Speaker 9: It was it was a lot of fun, you know.
- 20:15Speaker 9: I mean, it's just it's amazing when you get the
- 20:17Speaker 9: two together. What the draw looks like. It really doesn't
- 20:20Speaker 9: matter the sport, to be honest, but uh, you know,
- 20:23Speaker 9: we we love it with baseball, of course, but uh,
- 20:26Speaker 9: you know, we're we're super excited for that again. You know,
- 20:29Speaker 9: it's it's one of the biggest days of the year,
- 20:31Speaker 9: draws so many people. The ballpark sold out real quick
- 20:34Speaker 9: last year, so you know it's it's real exciting. Last
- 20:37Speaker 9: year we were trying to figure out where could we
- 20:39Speaker 9: put more tickets. We created like outfield sections of standing
- 20:43Speaker 9: room only and all kinds of.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Fun standing room and the concession stand. You know whatever. Whatever,
- 20:47Speaker 2: whatever it takes, you talk about.
- 20:49Speaker 5: You to work. That's fun.
- 20:50Speaker 2: It's been blowing again from the Charleston Dirty Birds fan
- 20:53Speaker 2: fest going. I know, those tickets for WV. Marshall though,
- 20:56Speaker 2: go until at ten o'clock this morning on the website.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Correct and uh u yeah, and.
- 21:00Speaker 9: People want to come over. We're always at the office
- 21:02Speaker 9: nine to five Monday through Friday. So you know, if
- 21:05Speaker 9: they want to come over today and buy them, they
- 21:06Speaker 9: don't need to go to the box office and just
- 21:08Speaker 9: go right up to Sweet two o one and see
- 21:09Speaker 9: anyone inside.
- 21:10Speaker 2: We can help they And you probably should plan on
- 21:12Speaker 2: getting your tickets early. I would think, I mean, we
- 21:14Speaker 2: don't want to put a rush. I mean, but you know,
- 21:16Speaker 2: panic buy on it. But those tickets, as you said, Ben,
- 21:19Speaker 2: go do go very quickly.
- 21:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 9: I would say that if you're if you're bringing a
- 21:23Speaker 9: pretty semi large group of people four plus, you probably
- 21:26Speaker 9: want to start looking in the next couple of days
- 21:28Speaker 9: for sure.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and those tickets again go online Dirty birds baseball
- 21:31Speaker 2: dot com at ten this morning or you can is
- 21:33Speaker 2: he said, get them in person? What U And we're
- 21:36Speaker 2: going to have you guys on for opening Day. We
- 21:38Speaker 2: always do and a couple of players come in. Your
- 21:40Speaker 2: manager and Andy usually comes over for it too. What
- 21:42Speaker 2: are you looking forward to most about this upcoming season?
- 21:45Speaker 9: You know, I think that uh, you know, I've been
- 21:47Speaker 9: working with PJ a lot and the manager for the team,
- 21:49Speaker 9: and you know, we did our visa application and we
- 21:52Speaker 9: brought in some guys that are Dominican Republic pictures and
- 21:56Speaker 9: this is the first year that I've heard the excitement
- 21:58Speaker 9: and his voice, you know, and he's been with us.
- 22:00Speaker 9: This is i think his third year, and he's really
- 22:03Speaker 9: excited about the season.
- 22:04Speaker 5: You know, we got the visa.
- 22:05Speaker 9: Approval early, which was great, and you know, he's just
- 22:09Speaker 9: he's so excited. So I'm really looking forward to, you know,
- 22:12Speaker 9: bringing back some familiar faces, but changing things up and
- 22:17Speaker 9: seeing if we can make a deep, deep run.
- 22:19Speaker 2: And that's the nature of this baseball at this level.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, so, I mean, to be honest
- 22:24Speaker 2: with you, it's in the nature of sports on any
- 22:25Speaker 2: level these days, even in college with anil and whatnot
- 22:28Speaker 2: with the transfer portal. But you bring in different guys,
- 22:31Speaker 2: but but you also have those that have been there
- 22:34Speaker 2: for a couple of years as well. And it's a
- 22:35Speaker 2: great it's a great brand of baseball at Go Mar Ballpark.
- 22:39Speaker 2: He really is.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 9: I mean, we we branded ourselves and we chose to
- 22:42Speaker 9: be more fan friendly than most and you know, I
- 22:45Speaker 9: mean that's our goal is to make it so that
- 22:47Speaker 9: the players aren't foreign to the kiddos and the guests
- 22:50Speaker 9: and the customers that we have. You know, one of
- 22:53Speaker 9: the guys that we've we've got contracted this year, there's
- 22:56Speaker 9: two that I know that we're here with us last year,
- 22:58Speaker 9: three three that I know, and that's just the beginning.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Those are just the Dominican guys.
- 23:03Speaker 9: But Edison Serreel was the fan favorite two years ago
- 23:07Speaker 9: and he's back again and he's just he's a he's
- 23:09Speaker 9: a bow full of energy. And Christopher Rogonde is just
- 23:12Speaker 9: a really big presence.
- 23:13Speaker 5: He's a huge guy.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Literally, when is opening.
- 23:17Speaker 9: Days, Opening days April twenty fifth, really looking forward to
- 23:22Speaker 9: home as a Tuesday, which is kind of strange, but
- 23:24Speaker 9: you know, We're opening at home and then we'll have
- 23:27Speaker 9: the weekend off and then come back for a full week.
- 23:30Speaker 2: What when it comes to the I mean, you talked
- 23:34Speaker 2: about some of the changes of the team, but what
- 23:37Speaker 2: are some big events, some special nights that the Dirty
- 23:39Speaker 2: Birds have planned for this year.
- 23:41Speaker 9: Well, we have a Jason Williams bobblehead night and he's
- 23:44Speaker 9: going to be there really excited for that. It's white chocolate, right,
- 23:48Speaker 9: so that's that's exciting. We've got a lot of unique
- 23:52Speaker 9: events this year. Definitely bringing back a lot of the
- 23:55Speaker 9: favorites that drew a lot of people last year, but
- 23:58Speaker 9: a lot of our focus is on on kids, families,
- 24:01Speaker 9: friends and fun, so you know, the Blue Knights, those
- 24:04Speaker 9: types of things will be back.
- 24:06Speaker 5: You know.
- 24:07Speaker 9: The big focus is when we have a theme, we
- 24:09Speaker 9: want to make it the theme for the day, and
- 24:10Speaker 9: we want to make sure that you know, we buy
- 24:12Speaker 9: in just as much as our customers do.
- 24:14Speaker 5: So I think it's going to be really exciting.
- 24:16Speaker 2: We had a text here somebody sent me a picture
- 24:18Speaker 2: and it says, have you seen the take Me Out
- 24:20Speaker 2: to the Ballgame Shake? That will premiere at Arizona Diamondbak Stadium.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Salted caramel flavored shake stockpiled with peanut butter cookies, kit
- 24:28Speaker 2: cat bars, crackerjack pieces, and whip cream. We need something
- 24:32Speaker 2: like this at Gomart Ballpark.
- 24:34Speaker 5: You know, it sounds delicious.
- 24:37Speaker 2: And looking at this picture and everything gets said, it's
- 24:39Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty eight dollars.
- 24:42Speaker 5: That's going to be well, we don't want that version.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Maybe a smaller version.
- 24:47Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe a smaller version.
- 24:49Speaker 9: We are expanding the kids area and the grab and
- 24:54Speaker 9: go right behind home plate that we had from last year.
- 24:57Speaker 9: It's got a cotton candy machine and we have some
- 24:59Speaker 9: exciting things that we're doing there. So maybe that would
- 25:02Speaker 9: be a great place for this this shake.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah, the take Me out to the Ballgame shake Tate
- 25:08Speaker 2: take Me sponsored bi ozempic. Anything says a text or
- 25:13Speaker 2: anything planned for the nation's two hundred fiftieth.
- 25:15Speaker 5: Birthday, definitely, you know.
- 25:17Speaker 9: I mean we're not at home on July fourth, but
- 25:20Speaker 9: the closest we get there, we always do an Independence
- 25:23Speaker 9: Day celebration and.
- 25:24Speaker 2: This is going to be on steroids, I guess, because
- 25:26Speaker 2: it's you know, two hundred and fifty.
- 25:28Speaker 9: Yeah, it'll be. It'll be a big day for sure.
- 25:30Speaker 9: I know that the fireworks show that we have. The
- 25:32Speaker 9: Saturday closest is going to be the biggest of the year.
- 25:35Speaker 2: All right, sounds good, Ben, I appreciate you stopping by
- 25:37Speaker 2: the studio. Man, thanks a lot.
- 25:38Speaker 5: Hey, thanks for having.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Pleasure to hang out. We hang out with me here
- 25:40Speaker 2: just one second now again. FanFest is going on tomorrow
- 25:43Speaker 2: at Gomart Ballpark from ten to two. Admission is free.
- 25:46Speaker 2: First fifty fans to the gate. We'll get a free
- 25:48Speaker 2: ticket for the home run derby pictures with Dusty the mascot.
- 25:51Speaker 2: There's inflatables, mini golf, check out the new concession stand, items,
- 25:54Speaker 2: discounted merchandise, and more. If you need more information, visit

- 26:02Speaker 2: tickets go and sale at ten this morning. You can
- 26:05Speaker 2: get those in person. Don't as he said he do.
- 26:07Speaker 2: You don't have to go to the box office. Just
- 26:09Speaker 2: hop on the elevator and go up to the suite
- 26:11Speaker 2: where the offices. Pretty nice offices up there too. By
- 26:13Speaker 2: the way, I'm envious every time I go at it or
- 26:15Speaker 2: hang out with you guys, I'm very envious. I mean,
- 26:18Speaker 2: any it's got of you. I mean, I've tried to
- 26:21Speaker 2: tell him here. I said, you know, I think I
- 26:23Speaker 2: could do this show much better if you let me
- 26:24Speaker 2: have an office over at the ballpark, you know, And
- 26:26Speaker 2: it kind of fell on deaf fiers. I guess that
- 26:28Speaker 2: whole I got to be close to the studio thing,
- 26:30Speaker 2: I guess. But go to a dirty Bridge baseball dot
- 26:33Speaker 2: com for the W. Marshall tickets. You can get them
- 26:36Speaker 2: there or get them in person. But probably Ben said,
- 26:39Speaker 2: if you're planning on bringing it, because a lot of
- 26:41Speaker 2: people do four five, six people and you want your
- 26:43Speaker 2: seats in a row, you probably should try to get
- 26:45Speaker 2: him sometime over the next couple of days that it
- 26:47Speaker 2: more than likely will sell out. Ben well, I'm from
- 26:49Speaker 2: the Dirty Birds. Appreciate you being here. Man, Thanks a lot.

- 29:53Speaker 2: the Dirty Birds, I said, I mean that's had that
- 29:56Speaker 2: in the first inning. You're out by the third inning.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I mean, thank you for being It's been a while
- 30:01Speaker 2: since you've been on the show. Appreciate you being here.
- 30:02Speaker 5: It has been Thanks for having me back, Dave.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I want to talk about a couple of days I show.
- 30:06Speaker 2: You gave your State of the University speech. What did
- 30:09Speaker 2: you say to the folks in them?
- 30:11Speaker 12: Well, you know what I said, Dave, was the state
- 30:14Speaker 12: of the university is strong. And it was a great
- 30:18Speaker 12: day to deliver my address because we also celebrated our
- 30:22Speaker 12: one hundred and thirty fifth year anniversary since our founding
- 30:26Speaker 12: as an eighteen ninety Land Grant university. So what I
- 30:30Speaker 12: really did was reflected on the journey that we have
- 30:33Speaker 12: traveled together as a university as we've carried out our
- 30:37Speaker 12: mission of transforming lives through excellence in education. West Virginia
- 30:42Speaker 12: State University truly is a university that.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Is on the mood.
- 30:45Speaker 12: We've got incredible momentum Dave, if you look at all
- 30:49Speaker 12: of the metrics, we are doing quite well. Think about
- 30:54Speaker 12: academic programs. We've brought cybersecurity online. We have a bachelor's
- 30:57Speaker 12: science degree in cybersecurity. Look at agriculture. We're building a
- 31:01Speaker 12: phenomenal state of the art ag lab on our campus
- 31:04Speaker 12: thanks to an investment of fifty million dollars by the
- 31:07Speaker 12: State of West Virginia. We're leaning into nursing and education.
- 31:11Speaker 12: This may will graduate our first cohort of doctoral students,
- 31:15Speaker 12: our first doctorate in the history of university eded and
- 31:18Speaker 12: leadership studies. And on the fundraising side, we've launched a
- 31:21Speaker 12: capital campaign, a campaign to raise twenty five million dollars
- 31:25Speaker 12: over five years, and already in year two, Dave, we
- 31:28Speaker 12: are at ninety seven percent to go. So no matter
- 31:32Speaker 12: how you slice it, West Virginia State University very much
- 31:35Speaker 12: is a university that is on the move, and I
- 31:38Speaker 12: am very, very very optimistic about our future.
- 31:41Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's a lot. That's a lot of stuff.
- 31:43Speaker 2: You put in about about a minute and a half tibsolute.
- 31:45Speaker 2: That's my elevator speech. By the way, make sure that
- 31:49Speaker 2: you notice this, yes, spunking out of my West Virginia
- 31:52Speaker 2: State University coffee mug that you gave me a couple
- 31:55Speaker 2: of absolutely, probably use another one. Yeah, well we'll work
- 31:58Speaker 2: on that same same right. Let's talk about your day
- 32:02Speaker 2: of giving? Yeah that you had ever we talked about that?
- 32:04Speaker 12: Yeah, you know, the totals are end, Dave. We had
- 32:06Speaker 12: an ambitious goal of raising five hundred thousand dollars half
- 32:10Speaker 12: a million dollars doing our Day of giving to support
- 32:14Speaker 12: our students and the driver mission forward. And I'm happy
- 32:16Speaker 12: to report that we far exceeded that goal by raising
- 32:19Speaker 12: one point one million dollars from two hundred and fifty
- 32:23Speaker 12: six donors. Dave, Again, if that is not an indication
- 32:27Speaker 12: that West Virginia State University has on a tremendous path forward,
- 32:31Speaker 12: I don't know what is.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Talk about the importance of your donors, because I'll say this.
- 32:37Speaker 2: You know, I deal with a lot of colleges universities
- 32:39Speaker 2: on this show. We got some great ones in West
- 32:41Speaker 2: Virginia SEVVU Marshall and you see and all these others.
- 32:44Speaker 2: And but but your donors and your alumni take it
- 32:49Speaker 2: to another level. At West Virginia State.
- 32:51Speaker 12: They do absolutely and what I say all the time,
- 32:53Speaker 12: it takes a village to raise a child and to
- 32:57Speaker 12: sustain a university. Our donors are an important part of
- 33:01Speaker 12: the village that helps to propel our university. For their
- 33:04Speaker 12: generosity speaks for itself, and I think the reason that
- 33:08Speaker 12: our donors step up is because they know that our
- 33:10Speaker 12: mission is incredibly important again, a mission to transform lives
- 33:14Speaker 12: for excells and education. They know that they can count
- 33:17Speaker 12: on West Virginia State University to be good stewarts of
- 33:20Speaker 12: those resources, to make sure that the resources that they
- 33:22Speaker 12: are providing with us, that they are intrusting with us,
- 33:25Speaker 12: are being put to good work again to support our students,
- 33:28Speaker 12: to drive our mission forward, and to support our community
- 33:30Speaker 12: as a land grade institution.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Doug dairy Cage again, President of West Virginia State University

- 33:50Speaker 12: Talk about that we do It's coming up in April, Dave,
- 33:53Speaker 12: and it is our largest fundraising event of the year,
- 33:56Speaker 12: an opportunity for us to gather together as a university,
- 33:59Speaker 12: can unity as a local community here in the cadav Valley,
- 34:03Speaker 12: to celebrate all that is West Virginia State. And this
- 34:07Speaker 12: year we have two incredible individuals that we are honoring.
- 34:11Speaker 12: We are honoring posthumously Kitty Dooley, who we know is
- 34:15Speaker 12: a force for change in our community. Fine Lady absolutely absolutely,
- 34:19Speaker 12: who unfortunately passed away recently, but we will be honoring
- 34:23Speaker 12: her life and legacy at our gala. We'll also be
- 34:26Speaker 12: honoring a well known leader in our community, Tom Heywood,
- 34:30Speaker 12: who of course is someone who is again an incredible
- 34:34Speaker 12: leader in our community and incredible advocate for West Virginia State,
- 34:39Speaker 12: an incredible advocate for the work that we do at
- 34:42Speaker 12: our institution. He currently serves as co chair of our
- 34:45Speaker 12: capital campaign. So we're just excited to be able to
- 34:48Speaker 12: bring our community together to celebrate those two individuals and
- 34:52Speaker 12: to support our university. It's going to be April.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Tenth, and tickets available.
- 34:58Speaker 12: Tickets are available online right now, Dave. I mean, you
- 35:01Speaker 12: can go online and you can can get tickets.
- 35:02Speaker 2: To the West Virginia State. That's right to West.
- 35:04Speaker 12: Virgion State University's website and go to our university advancement.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Page now Texas, says Dave. West Virginia State College in
- 35:12Speaker 2: nineteen seventy six prepared me for a highly successful thirty
- 35:15Speaker 2: seven year educational and sales career. Great instructors and staff.
- 35:19Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean that is incredible. And I can tell you, Dave,
- 35:23Speaker 12: that everywhere you go in West Virginia, you're going to
- 35:28Speaker 12: find someone who is either going to West Virginia State
- 35:31Speaker 12: or knows someone who goes to West Virginia State. We
- 35:34Speaker 12: really are an integral part of the Mountain State and
- 35:38Speaker 12: I am so proud of our alums. I'm so proud
- 35:41Speaker 12: of our faculty, our staff, our students, and our supporters
- 35:45Speaker 12: who help us to continue to be a force for
- 35:48Speaker 12: good in this community.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I want to switch gears here for a moment. I
- 35:52Speaker 2: want to talk about the legislative session you just had,
- 35:54Speaker 2: the that just wrapped up on Saturday night. And I
- 35:57Speaker 2: know that you spend time on the grounds of the
- 36:00Speaker 2: Capitol Dome or not on the dome, on the grounds
- 36:03Speaker 2: of that they frown upon that on the grounds if
- 36:07Speaker 2: you're taking the legislative session overall.
- 36:09Speaker 12: Yeah, I can say with respective West Virginia State University,
- 36:13Speaker 12: we had a very very successful legislative session and I
- 36:16Speaker 12: want to certainly personally thank all the members of the
- 36:20Speaker 12: legislature and the governor for standing with state. We had
- 36:25Speaker 12: a number of priorities when we began. Every year we
- 36:28Speaker 12: asked for state support for our federal land grant match.
- 36:32Speaker 12: This year the number was five million dollars. That's what
- 36:35Speaker 12: we asked for. That was exactly what we received. Obviously,
- 36:39Speaker 12: we received new money on the table for expansion of
- 36:42Speaker 12: our LPN the BSN program. Two hundred and fifty thousand
- 36:44Speaker 12: dollars was approved for West Virginia State University. Respect to
- 36:49Speaker 12: our base appropriations, we saw increases thanks to additional resources
- 36:54Speaker 12: to support PIA employee raises and also funding to to
- 37:00Speaker 12: support the university's ongoing mission. So incredible investments in West
- 37:07Speaker 12: Virginia State. We are really excited about the work that
- 37:11Speaker 12: we've been able to accomplish together and look forward to
- 37:14Speaker 12: or continue our relationship with our legislators and policy makers.
- 37:17Speaker 2: What else is new on campus these days?
- 37:20Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean it's a lot going on right now
- 37:23Speaker 12: on our campus. I mean we continue to make improvements
- 37:26Speaker 12: to our campus infrastructure thanks to support from the legislature,
- 37:30Speaker 12: So when you come on campus, you'll see a lot
- 37:32Speaker 12: of improvements being happened happening across our campus. Of course,
- 37:36Speaker 12: we're excited about our athletics, our teams, and the great
- 37:42Speaker 12: competition that they are doing across our campus. So we
- 37:46Speaker 12: certainly invite any one to come and join one of
- 37:50Speaker 12: our athletic events anytime of the year. We're just excited
- 37:54Speaker 12: about the momentum, Dave. I mean, I think there very
- 37:57Speaker 12: much is a spirit of a renaissance spirit on our
- 38:02Speaker 12: campus that folks are really really leaning in and helping
- 38:07Speaker 12: us to again deliver that an important mission.
- 38:10Speaker 2: It's always a pleasure to have you on the show, sir.

- 41:41Speaker 2: The First Day of Spring is here. Metro News minioralogist
- 41:45Speaker 2: Brian Hughes is here. It seems like that, you know,
- 41:47Speaker 2: I bring you in when we got snow, when we
- 41:49Speaker 2: got high winds, we got when the bad stuff, when
- 41:52Speaker 2: we got you know, tornadoes or locusts or you know,
- 41:56Speaker 2: something like that. But uh, first day of spring. Man,
- 42:00Speaker 2: it's it's so officially what ten fifteen or something like that?
- 42:02Speaker 16: Is that all I read yeah, it's yeah, just yeah
- 42:04Speaker 16: in this sect tower just right to the top of
- 42:06Speaker 16: the hour, right, so you know nar normal high this
- 42:09Speaker 16: time of years fifty eight we transitioned into spring and
- 42:12Speaker 16: guess what tomorrow normal high is fifty eight. It's really
- 42:16Speaker 16: not a big deal. This is the uh, this is
- 42:18Speaker 16: the astrological version of it, the astrological astronomical because of
- 42:24Speaker 16: the sun changing position in regards to the latitude the latitudes. Now,
- 42:31Speaker 16: with that being said, what we look at as mediorologists
- 42:35Speaker 16: is the true calendar year because you have you know,
- 42:38Speaker 16: just it starts to spring. As a calendar December is
- 42:43Speaker 16: the beginning of winter for US. December, January, Favary. Those
- 42:46Speaker 16: the coldest months of the year, and so we've at
- 42:49Speaker 16: them as mediorologists.
- 42:50Speaker 2: We've actually already been it's been in spring. But with
- 42:54Speaker 2: spring comes severe weather.
- 42:56Speaker 16: So coming out this afternoon, we've got a monitor for
- 42:59Speaker 16: some of the understorm one two those could possibly pop
- 43:02Speaker 16: up me severe he'll be the primary threats with some
- 43:04Speaker 16: gusty winn we're gonna see temperature upper sixties and ear seven.
- 43:08Speaker 2: What timeframe were we talking about because people always want
- 43:10Speaker 2: to know, like whin Yeah, so I had our old
- 43:12Speaker 2: radio guy one time, one of my old Boston said,
- 43:14Speaker 2: people don't want to know whether it's going to rain.
- 43:16Speaker 2: They want to know whether it's going to rain on them,
- 43:19Speaker 2: you know, and they want to know that specifically. What
- 43:22Speaker 2: about my house for I need to know? Four seventeen
- 43:26Speaker 2: pm today at one twenty three Main Street in Rozafford,
- 43:29Speaker 2: can you can you tell I can do that. It'll
- 43:31Speaker 2: be partly cloudy, chance for a shower.
- 43:34Speaker 16: Okay, but if we do get, If we do get,
- 43:37Speaker 16: it'd be three, three to six o'clock be the best
- 43:39Speaker 16: time frame. Most of the rain showers will wrap and
- 43:41Speaker 16: then after that we have some spotty showers. Possible rain
- 43:43Speaker 16: showers will wrap up once we get past around if not,
- 43:47Speaker 16: just after midnight.
- 43:48Speaker 2: But this weekend is looking right. This weekend is phenomenal.
- 43:51Speaker 2: I mean, it's very exciting. You did, good boy. I
- 43:54Speaker 2: try tomorrow. Mostly sunny.
- 43:56Speaker 16: Temperature is gonna be the upper sixties to maybe seventy
- 43:59Speaker 16: degrees and calm wind.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Today it's gonna be a little breezy.
- 44:02Speaker 16: It's sorry, been breezy out here this morning when I
- 44:04Speaker 16: got here this morning about five forty five.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Don't ask why I.
- 44:07Speaker 16: Got here this morning about five forty five, the breeze
- 44:09Speaker 16: was was actually up, and I was like, yeah, it's
- 44:12Speaker 16: not bad, but still gonna be a breezy day to day.
- 44:14Speaker 16: Calm win tomorrow again upper sixt seats to maybe seventy
- 44:17Speaker 16: and then Sunday, Sundays, Sunday Fridays Sunday eighty two degrees
- 44:22Speaker 16: eighty two and partly Sunday skies across the area. Have
- 44:26Speaker 16: you been on the radio before, Brans, I'm well that
- 44:28Speaker 16: my watch is supposed to take care of this, but
- 44:31Speaker 16: that's Josh calling. Do you know how many times I
- 44:34Speaker 16: walk in this studio and Jane Bostick from the city calls,
- 44:37Speaker 16: Josh Will call, and I'm like, I mean, I know they.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Don't know my schedule, but yeah, it's funny.
- 44:43Speaker 16: But some wind picks up for the day on Sunday
- 44:47Speaker 16: and then and we're gonna have eighty two. But the
- 44:50Speaker 16: thing I'm concerned about is some severe weather across southern
- 44:53Speaker 16: Ohio in crossing over to West Virginia for the late
- 44:55Speaker 16: afternoon evening and I'm talking late afternoon evening, nighttime hours,
- 45:00Speaker 16: and then you're gonna hate Monday. But I think we
- 45:03Speaker 16: pull up the song Rainy Days and Mondays, because we're
- 45:06Speaker 16: gonna be fifty seven back to around normal and rain
- 45:09Speaker 16: showers in the morning and then driving up for the
- 45:12Speaker 16: afternoon right and rack to seventy two on Thursday.
- 45:15Speaker 2: I read somewhere though, that although this seems like it's
- 45:18Speaker 2: been a severe winter bright, we actually had less snow
- 45:23Speaker 2: than what we normally have. It just stuck around longer.
- 45:26Speaker 16: I guess, right, And so this is actually one of
- 45:28Speaker 16: the top ten worst winters on record.
- 45:31Speaker 2: And that's for a severity scale, not necessarily snow.
- 45:35Speaker 16: Right exactly if you will get snow, snow's easy to
- 45:38Speaker 16: deal with until you get ice and in frozen thunderstyles.
- 45:42Speaker 16: So but as far as the ice is concerned that
- 45:45Speaker 16: we had, this is actually it's actually in the top
- 45:48Speaker 16: ten for worst winters for West Virginia.
- 45:51Speaker 2: OK.
- 45:51Speaker 16: But that's because of the ice and the power outages
- 45:55Speaker 16: and everything, you know, all those combined. There actually is
- 45:58Speaker 16: a winter storm severity ind w s s I is
- 46:02Speaker 16: what it's called. And we look at those things and
- 46:06Speaker 16: look at the severity of them. Mind you, even the
- 46:09Speaker 16: stuff that happened on Monday is factored in there as well.
- 46:13Speaker 2: That actually took it up a notch. Just a here snow.
- 46:15Speaker 16: Did we end up getting the Monday Buy and Large
- 46:18Speaker 16: on average four to six inches of snow. But but
- 46:23Speaker 16: but you know this bridges and overpasses. Now, there was
- 46:26Speaker 16: a time if you got under a big squall, yeah
- 46:28Speaker 16: you had snow on the roads, but it was only
- 46:30Speaker 16: for a short time. So all this was on car tops,
- 46:34Speaker 16: grassy surfaces, roots.
- 46:35Speaker 2: It's the perfect snows. It was the perfect such a
- 46:38Speaker 2: good Christmas snow and it looked pretty right, but it
- 46:41Speaker 2: really didn't create there as you said, people got under
- 46:43Speaker 2: those squalls, and that would there were some exceptions, but
- 46:45Speaker 2: Buy and Large didn't create a whole lot of problems. No,
- 46:48Speaker 2: And so it was. It was a nice snow to
- 46:50Speaker 2: look at. But now it's gone, and I'm happy about.
- 46:52Speaker 16: It, I know, because you know, you go from snow
- 46:55Speaker 16: and six six inches of snow on Monday to eighty
- 46:58Speaker 16: two in Sunday.
- 46:59Speaker 2: On Sunday, that's welcome to welcome to speaking of which
- 47:03Speaker 2: I am seeing, I don't know you're a meteorologist. I
- 47:06Speaker 2: don't know that you're necessarily a doctor, but we'll just
- 47:08Speaker 2: go and say you're a doctor. Yeah, okay, I feel
- 47:10Speaker 2: like I'm a doctor, all right, So what is up
- 47:12Speaker 2: with everybody snotting around everywhere right now because it seems
- 47:15Speaker 2: like I haven't had a problem, but it seems like
- 47:17Speaker 2: everybody right now is battling something and it's all like allergies.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Why do something about that? Well, I will do something
- 47:24Speaker 2: about that.
- 47:25Speaker 16: We did something about that on Monday into Tuesday, and
- 47:28Speaker 16: that's that hard freeze on on Tuesday morning and Wednesday
- 47:32Speaker 16: morning has set back significantly any of the allergy issues.
- 47:36Speaker 16: So within the next couple of days everybody should start
- 47:39Speaker 16: to clear up a touch, but we're gonna have things
- 47:42Speaker 16: coming back.
- 47:42Speaker 2: What happens.
- 47:43Speaker 16: You know, we had a severe enough winter that some
- 47:46Speaker 16: some of the typical you know, the bugs that everybody
- 47:49Speaker 16: complains about, they're going to have a setback this year,
- 47:52Speaker 16: and that was because of the long term freeze that
- 47:54Speaker 16: we had. But you know, it's a lot of that
- 47:58Speaker 16: also is wives tale stuff. You know, there are some
- 48:01Speaker 16: bugs that are gonna be set back and some that
- 48:03Speaker 16: are gonna not broods that are not gonna come out
- 48:06Speaker 16: as as robusts as they had before. But again, the
- 48:10Speaker 16: one thing that we have found many years of research
- 48:13Speaker 16: is that a lot of the wives tell stuff just
- 48:16Speaker 16: gets spoken of. Well, we're not gonna have a bad
- 48:18Speaker 16: winter because of the loly worm. Well, the wooly worm
- 48:21Speaker 16: was was not severe this year. The woolye worm that
- 48:24Speaker 16: you say, oh there's a bad winter.
- 48:25Speaker 5: Guess what.
- 48:27Speaker 16: Those wooly worms did not appear. And yet here we
- 48:29Speaker 16: had the ice and the snow, and I'll you know,
- 48:31Speaker 16: the top ten.
- 48:32Speaker 2: They're about a zacred as ground groundhog exactly.
- 48:35Speaker 16: I mean, his accuracy is about is about forty to
- 48:39Speaker 16: fifty percent. And most of that's because the guys are
- 48:41Speaker 16: drunk and just just hell, it's just.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Shining out here. Yeah, let's go look at all these clouds.
- 48:49Speaker 2: It's shinning. Let's go get drunk and fond, right, Homongus
- 48:53Speaker 2: hasn't said that all right years after that many beers.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Temperature is going to uh for the ballpark event tomorrow,
- 48:59Speaker 2: So because that's you know, with the fan fastest tomorrow,
- 49:01Speaker 2: I said when I was talking to Ben earlier, it's
- 49:03Speaker 2: going to be a fantastic day at the ballpark. Of temperatures,
- 49:05Speaker 2: let's say tend to tomorrow.
- 49:06Speaker 16: At tend to two tomorrow, were gonna have temperatures They're
- 49:08Speaker 16: going to be starting the mid fifties by two o'clock.
- 49:11Speaker 16: We're going to be in the mid sixties, and by
- 49:13Speaker 16: time three four o'clock we could be mid to upper sixties.
- 49:16Speaker 16: And by three four o'clock we're looking at temperatures topping
- 49:18Speaker 16: out right around sixty nine to seventy degrees.
- 49:20Speaker 2: I got to ask you this because I know you
- 49:22Speaker 2: are a foodie as am I. I can't get over this.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Somebody texted I was talking to Ben Blum of the
- 49:29Speaker 2: general manager of the Dirty Birds earlier, and somebody sent
- 49:31Speaker 2: me a picture here of the all new take me
- 49:34Speaker 2: out to the ballgame shake available at the Arizona Diamondbacks.
- 49:39Speaker 2: All right, so back, okay, salted Terrible flavored shake. I'm
- 49:43Speaker 2: stockpiled with peanut butter cookies, kit cat bars, cracker jack pieces,
- 49:48Speaker 2: and whip cream. And they said we need something like
- 49:51Speaker 2: this at go Ballpark. And I and Ben and I
- 49:54Speaker 2: have kind of come to the conclusion that if you
- 49:56Speaker 2: serve that in the first inn and you're out by
- 49:57Speaker 2: the third day.
- 49:58Speaker 16: Right, and mostly because you're in the rest stream going,
- 50:01Speaker 16: it's all brought to you biozepic.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Right.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I do like ozembic. It helps. It got them all.
- 50:08Speaker 2: He got all my blood work out squared away.
- 50:10Speaker 16: But yet here here, I'm thirty pounds heavier than I was,
- 50:14Speaker 16: you know, six months ago.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Not the way that's supposed to work.
- 50:16Speaker 16: I know it's not, but no, that sounds incredible. And
- 50:20Speaker 16: then if you could just drizzle a little chocolate right
- 50:23Speaker 16: on the top of chocolate.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Syrup and then have a and then drink a die
- 50:25Speaker 2: coke with it, right, because that's healthy.
- 50:28Speaker 16: I know I do coke zero because then you guess what,
- 50:31Speaker 16: you can make a coke zero salted caramel crackerjack shake?
- 50:35Speaker 2: Right? All right?
- 50:36Speaker 5: All right?
- 50:37Speaker 2: What is your favorite ballpark food?
- 50:38Speaker 4: Broun?
- 50:39Speaker 16: I honestly, it's just a classic hot dog with mayonnaise.
- 50:44Speaker 2: What is wrong with you?
- 50:46Speaker 12: What?
- 50:47Speaker 2: What's wrong with mayonnaise? And actually I prefer.
- 50:50Speaker 16: A miracle whip nothing but not on a hot dog. Yes,
- 50:52Speaker 16: on a hot dog with a swow of onions on
- 50:55Speaker 16: top of okay, the onions and just you know you
- 50:57Speaker 16: can get that at Comerica Park in Detroit. And when
- 51:01Speaker 16: you go cheer on the Tigers, get them.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Tiger Steve Animal would be very pleased to hear that
- 51:06Speaker 2: that's his team Mayo on a hot dog meadows in
- 51:09Speaker 2: or out, I'm out, I am totally actually have you
- 51:12Speaker 2: tried it. Actually, I will say I like mayo, but
- 51:14Speaker 2: it just doesn't go on hot dog. Man, Hey, you
- 51:17Speaker 2: should try it one time. I've actually heard of people
- 51:19Speaker 2: to do that. Mayo mayo on a hot dog. You went, okay,
- 51:23Speaker 2: but he's out.
- 51:23Speaker 16: Oh my lord, really was violently left bodily, you know,
- 51:28Speaker 16: at some of your dad's restaurant establishments.
- 51:31Speaker 2: I have had mayo on a hot dog. If you
- 51:36Speaker 2: like an niner, look right, a two fingered salut. And
- 51:40Speaker 2: it did not come from one hand. All right, all right,
- 51:46Speaker 2: listen now, text says yep, okay, hold on here, yep,
- 51:50Speaker 2: and I lost the text. You put mayo on bologna.
- 51:53Speaker 2: No different than a hot dog. It's not bad, says
- 51:55Speaker 2: the text.
- 51:55Speaker 5: Mustard.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you put mustard on one fried baloney sandwich. Should
- 52:01Speaker 2: put mustard on you? No, you put make two when
- 52:03Speaker 2: you would do one with mayo and one with mustard. Rights,
- 52:05Speaker 2: or you could do mayo on one side mustard on
- 52:07Speaker 2: the other. And it's got to be Duke's mayo. That's
