[upbeat rock music] Oh, how's this thing work again? [laughs] Hey. You back? Hello.
• 0:17
Welcome, welcome to the Full Spectrum Cycling Show. Program. Program, show number 69, dude. 69, dudes. 69, dudes. Wild stallions. Right. [laughs] It's on its way. Is it? Yep, yep, yep. The remake?
• 0:34
Uh- The-... tri- Or no, the- The end of the trilogy... the sequel. [upbeat rock music] Uh, when's that out? Oh, probably next year. Everything's been kinda nudged. Bill S. Preston Esquire. Esquire. Ted "Theodore" Logan.
• 0:53
I am an FBI a- Well, wait. [laughs] Crossing streams there. Going into diff- Going into point- Point break [laughs]... break there. I am an FBI agent. Agent. [laughs] Whoa. Uh-oh.
• 1:06
Uh-oh, I just did s- I pushed a button and something happened. Oh, yeah. No, we don't want that to happen. Cut it out. Stop pushing buttons when you don't know what you're doing. Holy mackerel. Holy mackerel.
• 1:16
Well, Chewie was here last week. Yeah, well- Oh, yes... that was might have been one of the craziest shows we've ever had. [laughs] I, uh, don't even know if I look to see if there's any comments. Probably there aren't.
• 1:28
Nobody listens to this show anyway, so. Oh. [laughs] Except for Chewie when we talk about electric bikes, and he knows how much he loves them. [laughs] Right. He just won't, he won't agree with us. I don't know.
• 1:37
  I'm not sure that he didn't kinda wishy-washy a little bit on it. I, I think he wishy-washied. He flip-flopped. That's, that's it. That's a flip-flop. That was a flip-flop.
• 1:47
He said Sue was happy with the popcorn, so he may grace us with his presence again. Nice. Right on. Nice. I hope he doesn't have to spend the night- Oh, here's what-... make the same bed with Dave... okay.
• 1:55
Okay, Ron, here's what Lynn said. She left a comment, "I love my e-bike. I rode a custom bike for years, and then I got old. Yo- you are... Your conversation about e- e-bikes was disgusting [laughs]- [laughs]...
• 2:08
and insulting to serious old riders. Mine is a Stromer. My husband rides..." She wrote all in small case letters, so it's hard for me to- Yeah... decipher. That's okay. But, um, blah, blah, blah. "Mine is a Sto- Stromer.
• 2:21
My husband rides 10 miles to work, then 10 miles home. It ain't an easy ride. The hills work your legs every day. When you come to San Diego, stop by for a coffee and a ride. My husband roasts his own beans." Mm.
• 2:32
Well, it sounds like an invitation to chat. Yeah, absolutely. I don't know about the disgusting part. [laughs] Well, thank you, Lynn, for your comment. It's certainly a divisive, are we saying now, not divisive?
• 2:42
Divisive, divisive. Divisive is what I've been hearing on NPR- Oh... so that must be the way you say it. Ah. Anyway, topic, e-bikes, as are many other things out there. Thing- things are, are divisive. Yes, right now.
• 2:55
Like, like the... Somebody started a petition on change.org asking Yeti Cycles to stop using the word tribe in their marketing. Mm. It's been successful.
• 3:06
Apparently, Yeti's not [laughs] using the word tribe in their marketing anymore. All right. I kinda thought of the fat bike people as a tribe, so- so to speak. I don't know.
• 3:15
Are we gonna stop using the word fat because it's offensive to some people? Well, I did think about that when we sell heavy- Become [laughs] large sized bikes...
• 3:21
well, we sell both, you know, bikes for heavy people and- And we sell fat bikes... and fat bikes, which are not necessarily- So... for fat people. No. Um, but I could see weight challenged folks starting a petition.
• 3:33
I'm not gonna change the name of it, but- Yeah, yeah... it is what the bike is. It has nothing to do with the person on top of it. Exactly. But- I mean, I could see...
• 3:41
but anyway, yeah, so you know, I mean- Everyone's got to bitch about something... there's probably another word they could use. Husky. Husky. Husky bikes. Than tribe. Oh. [laughs] Oh, we're back to tribe.
• 3:51
Yeah, you're right. Oh, yeah. Clan. Yeah. Oh, husky. Clan. I don't know if you want to go with clan. Clan. No. Oh, you definitely don't want to go to that. Group. Don't go to that store. Group.
• 3:59
Can you imagine the Washington- Non-denominational... football team right now, the new Washington football team that doesn't have a name, talking about this and trying to go, "Well, I don't know.
• 4:08
I don't want to be offensive to anybody anymore." Right. You know, blah, blah, blah. I was- It's gotta be a challenge... I was of the ilk, just go with Warriors. Just go with Warriors.
• 4:15
But how come Marquette- Because, well, because Marquette-... can't be the Warriors then?... was fricking stupid. Right. All you had to do was change the logo. You don't have to change- It wasn't even a-...
• 4:21
the Warrior... it wasn't even... It was a conquistador if I remember, right? I, mm-hmm. I mean, it was a... Whatever, I don't wanna get- [laughs] Right, right, right...
• 4:28
but I'm just saying is- You're talking about a sport I care nothing about anyway-... Warrior does-... so it's not really that big a deal. Well, yeah. Warrior's generic enough in- It's in Golden State, too.
• 4:36
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cool. I don't know. So. The Washington Wussies. Yeah, that's my one off team after the Packers. [laughs] So I'm, I'm watching it with a little bit of
• 4:46
passive interest if there's a sports ball thing going on this year, but- Right, right. Well- Right, right. Top of the hill. Yeah, I guess so. Early hill. Early hill.
• 4:56
Yeah, it's, it's an ear- it's an ear- early crest of the hill 'cause I just took a big slam of that beer. Ah, it's delicious. [laughs] It says it right- It is... it says it right on the label, Stone Delicious IPA.
• 5:07
Delicious IPA. And it is. I was wondering if with a label like that, plus it has a really cool kinda skull. What's, what's that guy? A Minotaur. He's not a Minotaur. What is he? No. Lucifer? Yeah, maybe.
• 5:17
It's got horns and stuff. Um, but it's, it's, it's a citrusy IPA with lemon drop and El Dorado hops. Yeah. Lemon drop, lemon drop, lemon drop. And it's- That's clearly some new hybrid... and it's 7.7%.
• 5:31
Yeah, it's, it's- Which is good... too easy to drink for 7.7. [laughs] Well, before I get too far into this, I had to- [laughs]...
• 5:36
let everybody know that, that at least Sven's portion of the show today is kinda sponsored by Cinderella 99- Ooh... which would be a hybrid sativa kind of a thing. Ah. [laughs] Okay, now we know what's going on, yeah.
• 5:49
So if, if I get off the rails a little bit, we'll- We'll know why... now we'll have an explanation- Okay... as to why. Look, a blue car. Yeah. I've always wanted a blue car.
• 5:58
[laughs] I'm so happy 'cause it's a, it's such a happy thing. There you go. It's a happy-... strain, I guess is what you call it So did you guys ride this weekend?
• 6:05
'Cause I had to go visit, well, I didn't have to, I went and visited my mother for the first time since the, uh, shit hit the fan. Wow. Yeah, 94-year-old kicking ass. Nice, nice. Did you stay six feet away from her?
• 6:16
Um, I mean, we, when we had masks on, we did briefly greet, but otherwise- Yes... yes, we kept a very good distance. Yeah.
• 6:23
Molly made a beautiful, uh, she's gonna hate me 'cause she- a good thing she never listens to these, but she made- [laughs]... uh, my mom's favorite, orange chicken. Like, like Aldi's orange chicken. Nice.
• 6:35
Is it like s- sort of the, uh, can we call it Chinese food still, or is it Asian? What do we call it? Uh, you, you throw, yeah, you throw it in the oven- Is it that kind of, is it- Yeah...
• 6:42
you throw it in the oven, you bake it. Can we call it Chinese food without getting yelled at? It's, it's, well, it's probably, yeah, it's Chinese. It's from Panda Express type setup. Oh, sure. Right on. Yeah, yeah.
• 6:49
You know, it's just- Well, it's like, like, oh, here-... little chicken, it's, it's chicken nuggets-... here, uh, a sample, a sample...
• 6:52
with like an orange sauce and rice and- But Molly made it instead of bought it or bought it? No, she bought it- Well, all right... 'cause that's what my mom wanted. Well, there you go. And it was- Makes it easy...
• 7:00
it was, it was fine. You know, it's great to go visit her for the first time in ages, so.
• 7:05
Yeah, I was supposed to see my mom on Tuesday, but her facility recently got tested, and everybody in the facility is negative, so they're happy about that.
• 7:13
But- Oh, they don't want anyone- I didn't want her to- [laughs] Well, she, she could come out, say, she'd go into the doctor or something, 'cause it was my birthday and she wanted to buy me lunch, and I'm like, "Yeah, let's just put that on hold.
• 7:22
We can, we can eat lunch in another however long, year or so." But, uh- Right... yeah, I, I've been now getting wary about travel again.
• 7:32
We, uh, did also get this while we were visiting my mom, which the viewers aren't gonna be able to see. Wait, what the heck? Is that, uh, whose, is that a wedding dress? [laughs] It's Molly's wedding dress. Oh, right on.
• 7:41
And you notice the, the coffee cup that Cleon's holding? I cannot see the coffee cup from here. Um- And I'm not gonna get close enough to you to see it. Where, uh, yeah, JK's got laser eyes, so he can probably see it.
• 7:52
Uh- He can send me the picture of the coffee cup- That's been a casualty-... and then we'll-... of the, uh, COVID pandemic... uh, it's just a coffee cup. I've, I've gone to reading glasses. Oh, boy. So. Oh, no.
• 8:01
Can you read it now? Oh, it says F- Ah... F, what do they call that thing? Asterisk CK. Fire truck. Yeah. It's- Don't say fire truck on the- No, it just plain on says fuck. Yeah.
• 8:11
[laughs] Uh- But yeah, Cleon had to try on Molly's dress as soon as we got home. I didn't know your young daughter knew those words. From my, from my... Yeah, right. [laughs] 15 years old, they know every word.
• 8:23
[laughs] Jesus Christ. Don't be fooling yourself. Garrett's back to doing, um, night class stuff, but they're just practicing at this point. But they are also going to... Hey, what's up?
• 8:36
Steve wa- Steve walked in the door. [laughs] What's going on? Yeah. Yeah. Come on in. What are you doing? A podcast? Just doing a- Doing a podcast... doing a show.
• 8:42
Yeah, just doing a little rapping and chatting about cycling stuff and- Oh my God. Hey, there's Steve. To- Tony gave up his headpiece for Steve. Thanks, Tony. [laughs] This is nice. What are we talking about?
• 8:54
Uh, we're, we're, right, right now we're talking about you. Steve lives right behind the shop in a, in a nice house, uh, with, with a roll- Just doing... CR1 bike in it. [laughs] Oh, it's great. I love it.
• 9:05
My favorite bike I ever owned. [laughs] Nice. I get so many compliments. Yeah, I've seen you out on it quite a bit. What do you got there? Got some Fresh Veins from the, uh- Oh... Black Husky.
• 9:14
Oh, that's dangerous stuff from Black Husky. [laughs] Isn't that, isn't that, aren't they a sponsor of this show? Sometimes. Yeah. I mean, we mention them more often than not.
• 9:21
Ours today is Stone Delicious- Oh, I love those too... IPA. Any- Which we just talked about a little bit... any IPA I like. Right on. So- So what's hap- what's happening with you during these trying times?
• 9:33
Got a lot of stuff to talk about. Is there people listening to us right now, or are we just recording? No, we're just recording. Oh, okay. But it, on Friday, on Friday, a 1,000 people will listen to it or whatever it is.
• 9:41
Really? Yeah. Is that true? Or one. Is that hap- the number of people that listen? Yeah, one to, well, somewhere between one and 1,000. Oh, man.
• 9:47
[laughs] No, I came in to, actually, I got the dream team here, so I came in to talk about an idea. Right on. Are you, uh, are you ready to hear about this idea? Uh, we are. I'm ready.
• 9:57
Do, are you okay sharing it publicly? I'll muffle what I have to muffle. [laughs] With the success of the number of bikes that you guys are selling, are you interested in any more space that has a much
• 10:12
free range, you can ride the bikes in an enclosed area, very cheap rent? Potentially. All, everything under one roof. Is it the place on Vienna? It's not on Vienna. Okay.
• 10:25
It- It's, uh, it's, but it's right next to my building to the south. So I'll keep that- Oh, okay... so your viewers don't know who I am or what my building is, but it's to the south. But I, I know which one.
• 10:34
I think I know which one you're talking about. It's, we have the ability to have a enormous amount of space for dirt cheap with a huge fenced in parking lot. Yeah. I don't know.
• 10:43
Yeah, so here, so- So I'll leave it at that...
• 10:45
so I did talk to the other fellow with the other big ass building over on Vienna, and I briefly talked about moving in there because it's, it is right on the Beer Line Trail- Mm-hmm... which is kinda cool. Mm-hmm.
• 10:54
But that Beer Line Trail goes nowhere right now, so that's not that cool. Mm-hmm.
• 10:59
But, uh, I had talked to him about doing a pump track outside, 'cause there's a bunch of outside land, and then even an inside one, which is, I don't know if you've ever seen one.
• 11:07
I'll have to, we'll have to show you what a pump track is. Okay. Quite possibly the coolest thing in the world. They don't take up much space, and they give you an incredible workout when you're, when you're riding them.
• 11:15
Mm-hmm. Basically, you use mounds that look like sine waves. Mm-hmm.
• 11:18
And you use your own body, not pedaling, but your body muscles up and down, like pushing down into the hole and pulling up over the things to get your speed up, and it, it's just an incredible workout, so. Cool.
• 11:29
That sounds awesome. Yeah. It's g- I, I, you got space over there. We should- There's a lot of space. There's, uh- We should go eyeball that over there... I'm not gonna give the building away, but- Yeah. It's-...
• 11:36
it's 384,000 square feet available. [laughs] Yeah. That's a lot.
• 11:39
Speaking of, I, I know you guys aren't gonna be able to hear these in the background, but speaking of not giving the building away, Greg, that building- Tony, building... kitty-corner from Esquela to Fratney sold.
• 11:49
For, for how much? I don't know yet. I'm waiting. I know. Oh, whatever. You know which building we're talking about? It's that- Give me the hint again... it's right across- I didn't hear...
• 11:56
kitty-corner from the school, Fratney Street School. From Fratney Street School. It's like a, kind of a little- Yeah, one that's on the total brown field... I don't know if it's a commune in there or something.
• 12:05
[laughs] Oh, yeah. I tried to pick that up and- That's, yeah, where you got the disco balls Right Yeah, and they wanted to get- I can tell you all about that if you wanted to know...
• 12:12
600 and they- I know all the numbers if you wanna hear it. [laughs] It sold for, you know? Yeah, it sold for 130,000 cash, and then he flipped it. He's trying to flip it for 740,000. Yeah, but just- Right.
• 12:20
Yeah, that's 'cause-... bare bones... I asked him that, too. [laughs] I'm like- It sold-... "Get outta here," 'cause- I tried really hard to get that-... 'cause we know-...
• 12:25
to make a small event space out of- We know who bought it. That's why. [laughs] Yeah. Oh, yeah. What's his name? I mean- So that's, uh, some local Milwaukee- I can na- I can name him, but I'm not going to [laughs]...
• 12:31
local Milwaukee real estate news here on, uh- I don't know how podcasts work. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. Well, no, you know, we veer off into the real estate every once in a while.
• 12:38
Well, I mean- But it's cycling oriented because you've got potentially a lot of space, so I'm interested in- Well, it's a-... in learning more... well, what I'm trying to do is- Sort of...
• 12:46
I have the ability, 'cause I know the owner of the building that we're talking about, and he's given me an opportunity to rent a huge amount of space for a pretty decent price to continue the vision that I have for making small storefronts, basically entrepreneurs, um, events, all kinds of cool stuff in that fenced-in area.
• 13:04
Yeah. So that would almost be like a shopping mall- Right on... facade- I had th-... in a fenced-in area... so I had that vision for the thing, the, the space across Fratney from us. Yep.
• 13:13
Basically using the two big mounds that are on each end, would have a short track mountain bike course, and then kinda lining the back would be juice bar, bike shop, whatever, blah, blah, blah. Oh.
• 13:22
Same basic idea, I think. Is this gonna work? But yeah. No. Oh. But that's- Unfortunately, we know those developers, and they're not willing to budge on their price- No, I know... which makes it completely infeasible.
• 13:32
So. We were just gonna go in there and do it- Yeah. [laughs]... rogue for now, 'cause [laughs] We could probably ask them. We, we have, we have some ties. We could maybe do it, but- Yeah. No...
• 13:39
we need to have a, a conglomerate of people that wanna share the vision that I'm gonna present to you eventually with- Sure... some renderings. Right on... and see if we can all be in the same house together.
• 13:48
That would be sweet because it, I have two spaces now. Combining them into one would be handy. Yeah. And, uh, yeah. Right on. Well, keep us posted. Well, thanks for letting me be a guest. Sure. This was pretty cool.
• 13:58
Thanks for sharing- Yeah... a, a, a new vision... if you're ever listening to me, I, uh- Boom... I'm not that interesting. [laughs] Fuck you, man. [laughs] But I'm busy.
• 14:07
I sell a COVID-approved disinfecting tablet, so we're blowing up right now, but that's my normal day-to-day job, but you guys probably don't know that. Right on, no, I got an idea what you sorta do. Yeah.
• 14:16
You can't just make money looking handsome and, you know. [laughs] Well, my- [laughs] The guys at the, the Black Husky were just making fun of my hair. They said I have to grow a rat tail. [laughs] Oh, I just- Oh.
• 14:24
[laughs] I said, "At my age, I'm pleased that I can grow it." [laughs] Hence the hat. Right on. I'm turning this back over to Tony. All right, Steve. Thanks for stopping in, man. Thanks for having me.
• 14:33
Are you getting it cut next month? Three years. [laughs] Yeah. Have fun, man. No, seriously though, consider it. I can walk you through that space at some point. Yeah, right on. Think about it. Sounds good. All right.
• 14:43
You hang. Okay, Steve. Have a great one. That's neighbor Steve there, folks. Yeah. Walking out the door, putting his hand through his hair. Now he's going out in the rain. Now he's turning the corner.
• 14:52
Now I can't see him anymore, so I can't tell you what he's doing. And stealing his beer. But I can tell you- [laughs]... that he will be less than 100 feet away for quite a while 'cause he's going to his house.
• 14:59
[laughs] I know. He's literally like, if you go out the back door, if you could go straight through the back wall, so he's what? Seven feet from that wall? Yeah, something like that. In a really cool pad.
• 15:10
That was cracking me up, though. He's like, "I could name a name," and I am sitting there [laughs] I know. [laughs] I know the name. I could name a name. It is- It's also- It is insane... clandestine...
• 15:22
it's insanely in orbit. [laughs] All right. So now we're happy. Hugging close. Let's, let's bring every- Yeah. Let's bring everybody down for a second. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun.
• 15:30
Um, George Kapica's shop, Broken Spoke, up in Green Bay got broken into. Ugh. Yeah, bullshit. And it, it, it doesn't sound like it was a protest related thing.
• 15:40
It sounds like it was a very well-planned, uh, you know, couple vehicles- Oh... and multiple people, and it sounds like they- They knew what to steal... kinda knew how to get at it, get it out and quick. Um- Oh, yeah.
• 15:50
It looked like they targeted, like, specific bikes they knew were worth a lot of money. It, it sound like most of them were specialized something somethings, 'cause he's a pretty big specialized dealer. Yeah. Right.
• 15:59
Yeah. The, the pictures he posted were primarily those. Yeah. He didn't assign a number but just said a lot, and- Right. He's got a- A lot, one is one... Facebook page. Maybe you can check it out.
• 16:07
I, if you, if somebody's trying to sell you a specialized bike for a really good deal, I'd be wary- For cheap... and check the serial number for sure. Yeah. Yeah. 'Cause guess what? Bike thieves suck. Yes. Mm-hmm.
• 16:17
F the bike thieves. Yeah, that's really an uncool thing to do.
• 16:20
Um, you know, a guy, a guy's running a business trying to d- you know, make it work during these difficult times, and then some jackass- Shit like that happens... has gotta steal shit, so you know, that's uncool. Mm.
• 16:32
I, I dunno. Um, did we... We didn't have the... Did we have the things off the thing last week? The, the boards off the windows? No, that stuff rushed- That's new this week. Yeah. So after six weeks of- No longer the-...
• 16:43
having our windows boarded up, more from a vandalism standpoint. I wasn't that worried about people stealing stuff 'cause it's hard to get stuff outta here. I specifically made it that way. Right. [laughs] Obviously.
• 16:54
So, you know, I'm sure you could if you were a skilled thief get shit, but here's the thing: My bike shop will have no bikes in it by the time you get here, so don't worry about it. [laughs] Um, yeah, so anyway. Yes.
• 17:06
No, now, now, yes, we can see out the window on this- Right. Yeah, which-... sunshiny day. [laughs] I, you know, from a sun perspective, it sucks. It lets way more heat in here, so I'm gonna- Yeah, right...
• 17:16
it, I'm gonna, I'm gonna put some, a window tint on or something- Yeah... just to kinda knock the heat down. One of those pull down ones even? Yeah, maybe. Just something. Yeah.
• 17:22
I mean, if I put the film on the glass, though, that's even better for- Oh, absolutely... you know, crash protection for the glass. Sure. Yeah. Oh, yeah, for sure.
• 17:28
And you'd kinda have to stick your face up to it now unless the light's on to look in. Right. You know? So I dunno. I, I, I'm, I'm...
• 17:36
With, with the way things are going in our particular shop, which is, was booming until the freaking, you know, the boarded up thing made it look closed. That wasn't that great.
• 17:45
Um, but w- the way things are changing and the potential for, mm, another year of working by appointment only, I'm gonna repurpose the space a little bit, so I dunno.
• 17:55
We'll see what happens when people can actually come in more than one person at a time into the store. For real. For reals. For real. For realz. Did we talk about, uh, Yoshizo Shimano passing away?
• 18:08
Did we talk about that yet? No, I was gonna bring it up last week. Okay. I, I, I know I must have kinda skipped over that- Well, no, I-... to the Cinderella 99 just in my haste to get to the- Oh, no. Not at all. Yeah.
• 18:16
No, I, I noticed it last week and... But last week was- Last week was last week's show. Right. All right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what happened there.
• 18:24
Um- Don't need to ha- no, don't need to be a scholar or- Well, he was 85 years old, so- Yeah... you know, and he was, I think, the third president or something of the company. Fourth, I believe. Maybe.
• 18:32
It was, like, the owner, then, like, two of his brothers and- Yeah, yeah, yeah... then him. Yep, that was- But he, like, I guess, like, introduced the more- Yeah, he was like the- Ding, ding, ding...
• 18:40
US sales manager- Yeah... and shit like that. I think our buddy Kevin Ren was pretty good pals with him. That's, I mean... So he had a, he had a good long ride. Yeah. Yeah.
• 18:50
And then it's- 80 snaps on m- god damn, most things [laughs] And fishing, and fishing reels and- Yeah... and other Shimano-oriented things. Ah, it's right there. Kind of a, uh, what's the term? Um, multi-conglomerate.
• 19:03
Sure. Vast. Vast. They have a vast empire. Well, they have... All right, here, let me get even weirder with my business degree. They are, oh, I mean, horizontally integrated. Yeah. [laughs] Oh, for crying out loud.
• 19:18
They're, they're not a silo, they're horizontally integrated? Oh, my God. It's all about putting- They, they, they-... more syllables in a one extra name...
• 19:23
they cross, they cross industries 'cause they're big in the cycling industry, they're big into the fishing industry. Oh, yeah.
• 19:29
You know, they've, they've got their name out there that, that are, you know- You know what I'm big into? This Bernie's, this Bernie's slab of jerky. [laughs] Boiny, boiny, boiny.
• 19:38
Sorry, Ron, I had this for last week's show, but, um, I kind of forgot about it in all the chaos of [laughs]- [laughs]... of... Well, the show was chaotic enough. The after-show ride was- [laughs] Chaotic...
• 19:48
was where I got a very nice looking bruise. Oh, Lord, yes. Did you fall again? I s- I did the splits. I, I kind of slipped in the water and did the splits, which I don't normally do, so I pulled my hamstring pretty good.
• 19:59
But then again, we're, there's normally not a derby in the water. This was after I left, obviously, right? Yeah, there was a derby in the fountain. Oh. Derby in the fountain. I'm glad I left.
• 20:04
Which there was painted- 'Cause I had a big day at work, and I'm glad I was not- Yeah, yeah... dealing with this shit. Well, I had a big night at work at ti- [laughs] the entire time.
• 20:13
I'm going, [laughs] "I'm right here." [laughs] Oh, yeah? [laughs] Was this, was it the UWM fountain? [laughs] Yeah, right out, right at Curtain Hall. I had gone back, I had gone the day before, and it was empty.
• 20:22
It's funny 'cause- But it was empty. They were working on it, so like- Bob Beck, you know, the, the head of IT, I got busted riding my fat bike through that fountain one day on a really hot day with Cleona Molly. Uh-huh.
• 20:33
And literally, like, he comes walking out after one of his, one of his employees rode through it and then came back, and he's like, "Oh, by the way, this is, you know, this is Tony Berger."
• 20:44
He's like, "Oh, I've heard a lot about you." I'm like, "Does it involve me riding my fat bike through this fountain?"
• 20:50
[laughs] I'll tell you what, I don't think they care 'cause two very nice lady police, WBU- They were cool... policing people- Yeah, they are, they are... walked right by kind of giggling and didn't really- Yeah...
• 20:57
they didn't even say anything. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah. But it, we were only in there for 15 minutes, but enough for me to stretch my leg out pretty good. Yeah, apparently, huh? Yeah.
• 21:05
It was a great- And so it, it gave me an idea for tattoos, though. Oh. I thought every time you get a good bruise, you get the tattoo laid over it so it looks like a bruise.
• 21:13
I wonder how many, h- how many people's bodies would just be, like, covered. Yeah. Oh. In- That sounds really painful, man. Yeah, I know, but- The only thing worse than getting-...
• 21:20
it doesn't have to happen when the bruise is there... surgery is tattoo. Okay, there you go. You can go later when the bruise has, has subsided. All right, there you go. That helps a little.
• 21:26
As long as you have a picture to reference it, and they can recreate- Yeah... it as a tattoo. [laughs] I, it's got legs, man. It might have a different pigmentation. Like, know that. Yeah.
• 21:34
[laughs] I would be, I would be- It's got legs. I think this- I would be even uglier than I am now I would be- This idea... I would be very purple... this idea, I tell you, "Hey, guess what?" I would be a purple person.
• 21:42
I, my face- I haven't been-... I would, you'd look at me, and I would be purple. I haven't been paying attention to the user line at 717-727-2453. Do we have a caller? No, we might have, though. Oh.
• 21:52
Sorry if you called- Which would've been-... and we didn't get to you. Yeah, sorry, Jason. We didn't get our three minutes of Jason. Oh. We'll have to hook him up for show number 70. God. That'd be heavenly. Right?
• 22:02
Three minutes, man. I think, I, I'm just gonna s- I, I s- Oh, shit, I forgot about something else. Okay, keep going... I've, I've said this in the past, and Tim, you're a great guy. Tony, you guys are killer.
• 22:14
I do not believe [laughs] that this beer I am having a vein right now. Oh, now we're talking about Black Husky. I do not believe this is 6.8. [laughs] Yeah. This is ways stronger than 6.8. It's big.
• 22:27
Somehow Tony veered into Black Huskyville. [laughs] I did. I did 'cause I'm drinking Black Huskyville. So I don't know where I saw it. I'm, I, oh, I can't find it right now, but, um, we got an email from Old Bear.
• 22:40
Old Bear. Yeah. Mike, [laughs] JK knows Old Bear. Um, I, the, I, and I need to find it so I can... Maybe next week I'll read it on the show.
• 22:48
Uh, but anyway, we heard from Old Bear, O- Old of Weekly Dose of Fat, and, uh, and riding his bike down there in somewhere in the South, hopefully- Nice... where they're- Aren't Bear or, or- Aren't Bar.
• 23:00
Well, his name's Old Bear, but- But Bar... Bar. Well, good to know he's out and kicking, man. What's that? Old Bear? Yeah. That's cool. Yeah, I gotta, I can't find the email. Oh, yeah. I, I'll, I'll find it.
• 23:11
It was, maybe it was a c- I don't know. Oh, I was thinking about that guy. There's too many ways to contact. I just- Totally... I don't get- I'm so sick of it...
• 23:18
I, I told, uh, I told the guy that's always messaging me that, that's, like, I check that about once or twice a week. I, I, email I gotta check all the time.
• 23:26
Um, messages, text messages, I usually get pretty quickly, but I f- E- email's dead though, dude. Yeah. Not for me. No one's emailing anymore. It's crazy. I mean, like- Well- I have had to use-...
• 23:36
if you wanna get a hold of me, that's the way you're gonna do it... Teams- Put it that way. I'm not gonna s- So cr- I'm not, I'm not gonna go to somebody else's way of getting a hold of me...
• 23:42
Oh, God, it's so frustrating. Slack. Don't even call, don't even call me on the phone. Slack. Tremagenville here. I've had to, I've had to re- Teams, email, text... relearn how to use a fax machine. What?
• 23:53
Oh, for Christ's sake. Really? I am not... Yeah, for real. The- Like a analog fax machine- No, no, I mean, it's, it's a-... or a, a-... network printer. We had to add that... email fax? Gotcha.
• 24:04
But all the same, I have to- It's still bullshit, yeah... push the buttons and the numbers, and it goes beep, doo, doo, doo, doo, sending and shit, and I'm like, "Oh, my God." Wow.
• 24:11
I mean, I, it is, like, totally eight steps backwards. So are you going into the office? Occasionally. Okay. I saw my- Two fax things. Oh, yeah. [laughs] Because I have two fax things now. I'm going to replace the toner.
• 24:23
Yeah, Jesus. I had to do that today. Oh. I had to go to the office to replace toner- Hmm... which was fine[laughs] Well- It is what it is...
• 24:32
I'm working on the warehouse to try and realize my vision, but now if Steve's gonna come and cloud it with a bunch of space that might be fun to have- I know, he can't stop thinking about it... I can't.
• 24:39
It's like [laughs] Greg's, I can just see, like, him just, like, rolling his head around like, "Ooh, I know where this space is." And it- Yeah, we're gonna have to, uh, come up with some money though somehow probably.
• 24:51
But we'll see what, we'll see what he's got going. Depends on what his version of cheap rent is. Well, as long as it's subsidized so it's, you know- Cheap... yeah, I don't know. Really cheap. We'll figure it out.
• 25:01
I'm sure there you could be a percentage of sales kinda thing on part of it, you know. It's like, "Oh, the rent is really low, but when you make money, I'm gonna make money too," kinda thing.
• 25:08
Well, I, you know- Which kinda makes some sense... with, with pump track and stuff too, I think he can also, if they could draw a crowd that might be more like, you know, like
• 25:19
food and snacks and, and- Are, are those business school words? No. Yeah. Those- No, I think his vision is good. It's the same vision I've had- Right...
• 25:26
since the old Gimbels warehouse was still down there and I wanted to put a skateboard park in there. Yeah. It's having the ancillary businesses around the activity. I think it would be kickass.
• 25:35
You mean the Gimbels warehouse that's now the apartment building on- Yep... Commerce? Yep. Yep. I always loved that building. Yep. It looks like shit now, by the way. Well, that's true.
• 25:43
They took that beautiful Cream City brick building and stuccoed it and made it look like shit. Yeah, it would've looked a lot cooler with a mountain bike course and a skateboard park in it. Or,
• 25:52
or, and sandblasted and beautiful- Yeah... Cream City brick restored. Yeah. Yeah. All it takes is money. Mm-hmm. You know, all these visions, all these dreams can come true with the right amount of cash, so.
• 26:02
Did, did you see the Iron One thing? You know, I'm not gonna beg, but if anybody has money and doesn't need it and wants to have a cool thing happen- Give it to Greg... send it this way and we'll put it to good use.
• 26:11
And, uh, you'll be welcome at your kickass spot anytime. Uh- And we may be able to pay you back. And I, I c- I have a vision, I just can't, I can't pick, put it out there yet [laughs]
• 26:22
because I, I haven't, I, it's not drawn, you know. I'm not a good drawer. Drawer. Are you a bum looker? Drawer. So your name's not Simon? I like doing drawings. [singing] My name, my name is Simon. Look at my bum.
• 26:34
Look at me. We are bum looker. Oh. That's not true. Hey. [laughs] Uh, what else? Anything else on the list? What do we got? Boom ba da doom ba da doom. Anything? No, no, no.
• 26:45
Bikes, we have, we do have a few bikes left here at the store, but I'm mostly gonna list those locally. Um, and things are starting to open up again. I did get a note from Roll that they're almost ready to roll again.
• 26:57
[laughs] Yep. So, you know- Gonna do the Love Force music move on that one... after they kinda... Yeah, they kinda dropped the ball. I mean, everybody dropped the ball though, so can't really blame them.
• 27:07
These are, uh- Hey, here's another shitty-... unprecedented times... here's, here's another shitty thing. Shitty. Not shitty. It's shitty, um, for us anyway, or, and for a lot of dealers.
• 27:16
Um, starting January, I don't know if I'm supposed to say this, but I'm gonna because I got the news today. Starting in January, Club Ride is going full on d- dealer, or, uh, consumer direct.
• 27:27
They're getting rid of- Oh... dealer support. Ah, bite me. Yeah, well, they've been kind of p- screwing the pooch for a while on all their discounts all the time and stuff. Right. It's still good stuff, Mike.
• 27:37
I love it, but geez. It is good stuff, but y- yeah. It's probably the right move though to go direct if you're gonna run everything at 30% off all the time. Right.
• 27:46
'Cause then there's no room for a dealer margin, for the guy to s- put it on his shelf and let people see it and put their sweaty pits on it- It may work out well for them... and try it in, you know, try it on and...
• 27:56
I'm sure it will. It's good stuff. Go buy Club Ride stuff even though they don't support dealers anymore. Well, at least in January. [laughs] Not bitter. Sorry if I- [laughs]... if, you know.
• 28:06
Whatever, Mike sent a note, so I'm sure it's, it's public knowledge now. If it won't, it will be by today. Friday. 'Cause I'm gonna post it all over the internet. [laughs] Friday. Oh, boy.
• 28:19
They don't even use the internet anymore. Well, I'm just saying. So did you guys g- I-... get out... I mean, I know you didn't get out [laughs] on Steed. Well, I tried- On Steed, I mean...
• 28:26
I tried to get out on the Steed. I threw my leg over and I went, "Nah." Yeah. "I think I'm gonna go have a beer." [laughs] That's pretty much what my s- Throw on a little bit-... my, that's what my head thought that day.
• 28:34
Sure. And, uh, it's getting better though. I, I did ride around a little yesterday and- Right on... it, it's just, it just needs to be worked again and, but- Yeah, we checked out the, uh, garden, garden show over- Nice.
• 28:45
I saw you and Kim at the, uh, Breman Cafe. Yep, yep, that was the garden show. Voot played earlier. Oh, yeah. And then, uh- That's right. Right... Voot. Warren- That was a good show. Yeah, for sure. That went well.
• 28:57
And then what was it? For, for a so- Elevator Trio... for a socially distanced show. Yeah, kind of a pickin'. [singing] I've said I was in the garden as a tech advisor, so I was well away from all the other people.
• 29:07
Right, right. I, I was making my dance back and forth and forth and back. And there was a little, uh, uh, one of the Zito Ride walkie by bike ride on Sunday. You did that? Yeah. I heard Bill came along.
• 29:21
Yeah, that was cool. Talked to him. Faux Eyes and- He w- he wants to be back on the show. Oh, right on. 'Cause it, 'cause he- Oh, he asked me back on the show, man. Yeah. You're so much fun. He's like, "When was it?"
• 29:29
Anytime. Yeah, he was so, he's still happy as hell. And then he's like, "My first podcast, my first podcast." [laughs] And only since then, so might as well. Yeah, what is it? 3:00, 3:00 PM Central Mondays is his show.
• 29:39
No, noon to 3:00. Noon to 3:00. Noon to 3:00 Mondays on WMSC. Yeah. You can get him, you'll get him as Faux Eyes, you'll get him as Heavy, DJ Heavy Set. DJ Heavy Set at the 2 o'clock hour for the pan- So-... jamdemic...
• 29:50
but it's the same guy. You gotta- Yeah... you gotta strap on the roller skates, clear the dance floor. [singing] Hey, give wmc.org a listen. I, uh, they don't give us any money or anything.
• 30:01
In fact, we, I, I don't know, I think we all here sitting at this table give them money so that they keep doing what they do. Oh, yeah. I've got my 2020 donation sticker in the mail, so. Yeah, right on.
• 30:09
I wish those stickers weren't so big, 'cause I wanna like, you know, just like... They're humongous. They're pretty big. Pretty, pretty fricking big. Yeah, they fit on a car windshield well. Right on.
• 30:19
Yes, I, you need to listen to that radio station. Yeah, I did the, I got my, my [laughs] my little letter and the, uh, and the sticker simply because I, I mean, I'm a sustaining member so they take out- Right...
• 30:32
you know, money every month. Right. But then- It's gotta be 66... you know, during the, during the fundraiser it's like, oh, you can do a one-time donation.
• 30:37
And then that's what I did during Von Bond's show, $6.66 just because. And I think, did, I think he thanked Fat Bike Mike, was pretty sure. Yep. Yep, bingo. Fat, Fat Bike Mike. You have to have your call in- Right on...
• 30:50
radio alias. Yeah, for sure. That's the way this world works, or way my world works.
• 30:55
[laughs] All right, well s- I somehow, with Steve's help, um, even though that may have been cryptic speak, um, we got through another show. All right.
• 31:02
So show 70 next week, and, uh, I imagine we'll be here unless something changes, and then we'll tell you about it anyway. 69, bye bye. Boom, boom, boom.
• 31:13
  [upbeat rock music]
