- 0:23I upset the car lords
- 0:25anyway
- 0:27um
- 0:27so
- 0:28my car
- 0:30as you know
- 0:30is officially sold
- 0:31it's gone
- 0:31it's gone forever
- 0:32um
- 0:34and
- 0:36I ended up
- 0:37borrowing a car
- 0:38like temporarily
- 0:40and I was taking it to school
- 0:41yesterday
- 0:41and I was
- 0:43the car is for sale
- 0:44that I was borrowing
- 0:44and I was like
- 0:45oh it's kind of nice actually
- 0:46and um
- 0:48so I drove it to school
- 0:50no problem whatever
- 0:51I'm out of lab at like 10 p.m.
- 0:54I go out to the car
- 0:55turn the engine on
- 0:57and the engine like is on
- 0:59and it's like
- 1:01no coolant or low coolant
- 1:04turn the engine off.
- 1:05I'm like
- 1:05Oh god.
- 1:09No, no, no.
- 1:10So I woke my dad up
- 1:11and I'm like
- 1:12I need to know
- 1:13can I drive on this?
- 1:15He's like I wouldn't.
- 1:16I'm like
- 1:16I'm like I look at my phone
- 1:202%.
- 1:21I didn't put a charger in the car.
- 1:24Oh my God.
- 1:25And I'm like,
- 1:26okay,
- 1:27it's fine.
- 1:28I'll just walk.
- 1:30It took me like
- 1:31a 10 minute walk
- 1:32to the nearest place
- 1:33where I could like
- 1:34buy something to put in the,
- 1:35buy coolant or whatever.
- 1:37Probably had to walk
- 1:38for 20 minutes,
- 1:38whatever.
- 1:39It's late.
- 1:40Yeah.
- 1:40My phone is dead.
- 1:42Did you buy a charger?
- 1:43Didn't think of it
- 1:44until just now.
- 1:45Until just now
- 1:46when I said it?
- 1:47Yeah, thanks.
- 1:47And then it ate me
- 1:48like a bowl of lightning.
- 1:49It sure did.
- 1:50My hair is standing up.
- 1:54That's a great suggestion.
- 1:55Wow.
- 1:56I think I was too pissed to think about the truck.
- 1:58I was just like, life sucks.
- 1:59Yeah.
- 2:00So anyway, I put it in.
- 2:04I turn the car.
- 2:05Everything's fine.
- 2:06I am annoyed.
- 2:08Yes.
- 2:09I mean, it's like, seriously?
- 2:11Yeah.
- 2:11It's probably now like 11.
- 2:13And I'm like, okay.
- 2:16So I get in the car.
- 2:16I'm driving home.
- 2:17I decide
- 2:19I don't know if you know this about me
- 2:20Love a moonroof
- 2:21Love
- 2:22Seems right up your alley
- 2:24Um
- 2:25So I'm like I'm gonna open this moonroof
- 2:28Open the moonroof
- 2:29Halfway because
- 2:31It broke
- 2:32So I'm like
- 2:34Huh I won't open
- 2:35I'll just close it
- 2:36Nope
- 2:37I took everything I had
- 2:44to maintain composure.
- 2:47I'm like, okay, I can't deal with this right now.
- 2:49I just have to pretend this isn't happening.
- 2:52Keep in mind, I have talked to my father.
- 2:54I said I should be home about an hour and a half.
- 2:56If I'm not going to, if I'm not home,
- 2:58this is the direction that I'm driving in.
- 3:01So you know where to find me
- 3:02because my phone will be of no use.
- 3:05Well, luckily I may get home,
- 3:07but I don't have my garage door opener.
- 3:09I don't have my car key.
- 3:10So I get out.
- 3:12The door's locked.
- 3:13It's fine.
- 3:13He didn't think, like, what I would have done is unlock the door and go to bed, right?
- 3:18That's not what happened.
- 3:20So I ring the doorbell, the video doorbell.
- 3:24Nothing happens for minutes.
- 3:27Then I'm furious.
- 3:29So I do, like, a quick, like, fast pound on the door.
- 3:32I see the light come on.
- 3:33I'm like, good.
- 3:35He comes to the door, and I have a glass door.
- 3:39And he puts his face to the door and looks out.
- 3:41and I'm looking at him.
- 3:44So you can fully see him.
- 3:45I can see him
- 3:46and he's like looking out at me
- 3:48and I'm standing there
- 3:50and nothing's happening
- 3:50and he goes,
- 3:51what do you need?
- 3:55Like he's looking at you
- 3:56and he didn't even know it was you?
- 3:58Yeah.
- 3:58And I was just like,
- 3:59over the fucking door.
- 4:01He goes,
- 4:01oh, it's you.
- 4:03I'm like,
- 4:05yeah.
- 4:09I'm in hell.
- 4:11And I'm like, then I'm thinking, that's what you would do?
- 4:17That's your response to a stranger at 11 o'clock at night?
- 4:19Yeah.
- 4:20What do you mean?
- 4:23Yeah, I'm like, I can't talk anymore.
- 4:25I just have to go to bed.
- 4:26I just couldn't believe it.
- 4:27It was like the cherry on top.
- 4:31Did you get the moonroof closed?
- 4:33Yeah, they were able to figure it.
- 4:34I guess there was like, I don't know, debris in the track or something
- 4:36because it's never been opened.
- 4:37Who the fuck knows?
- 4:38Don't care.
- 4:39Moving on.
- 4:39But was it open overnight?
- 4:41because didn't it rain overnight?
- 4:42Oh, I parked in the garage.
- 4:43Oh, okay.
- 4:43Nice.
- 4:44Yeah.
- 4:46Wow.
- 4:47That is very unfortunate.
- 4:50So on brand.
- 4:52But just like,
- 4:54remind me to never lend you my car.
- 4:57No, no, no.
- 4:58That's not the message I wanted you to do to lend.
- 5:00No, the message I'm taking away from this is
- 5:01you curse cars.
- 5:04No, I'm not claiming it.
- 5:05I put it in the past.
- 5:06Your last car lasted a really long time.
- 5:10You drove that thing for sure.
- 5:12Oh, yeah, I drove it.
- 5:13Oh, yeah.
- 5:13Oh, yeah, I got in it, drove it.
- 5:15Oh, yeah, I got in it too.
- 5:16I was a passenger in that car.
- 5:18Joe was a passenger too.
- 5:19Oh, yeah.
- 5:20We've all been inside that car.
- 5:21Yeah, that car.
- 5:25Anyway.
- 5:26Anyway.
- 5:27Welcome to Very Fine Friends, where we do not curse cars.
- 5:33No.
- 5:34You hear that, car lords?
- 5:35You hear?
- 5:37Francis isn't a curse.
- 5:38Leave him alone.
- 5:39Forgive me.
- 5:41Well, that is very spooky late night walking to find a store to get coolant.
- 5:52I don't know.
- 5:53It has like urban legend feel, like you'd find a man with a hook.
- 5:57Yeah.
- 5:58Which is appropriate.
- 5:59It's almost Halloween.
- 6:02That's true.
- 6:03Oh, I thought there was an autumnal chill in the air.
- 6:05Yeah.
- 6:05Yeah.
- 6:06We're two days from Halloween.
- 6:09So, yeah.
- 6:11You gonna dress up like anything?
- 6:12Yeah.
- 6:13Ooh.
- 6:14I'm gonna dress up as you.
- 6:18Wow, that's exciting.
- 6:19Yeah.
- 6:20I promise not to abuse it or take advantage of the situation.
- 6:23What does that mean?
- 6:25I mean, I want to maintain your image and your reputation,
- 6:27so I'm just gonna walk around and just enjoy the looks and the attention.
- 6:31Even though dressing as you would endow him with great power,
- 6:35Francis doesn't want to abuse that power.
- 6:37You're gonna walk around just grabbing your tits.
- 6:39I said I wouldn't.
- 6:41I really want the opportunity to borrow your car at some point.
- 6:47What about you?
- 6:48You got any costumés?
- 6:50No.
- 6:51We go into a party tomorrow.
- 6:55And, you know, it's like costumes encouraged.
- 6:58And it's like, can my costume be the guy that doesn't give a shit about costume?
- 7:05I don't know.
- 7:05They can.
- 7:06Okay, cool.
- 7:07I mean, that's usually every year.
- 7:09That's kind of my move is what's the least amount?
- 7:11Like, what can I kind of fake so I can tell people I have a costume, but I'm not dressed
- 7:17it up.
- 7:18That was like my Paul name tag.
- 7:20Remember?
- 7:20Yeah, that's good.
- 7:21Yeah.
- 7:22Wish I knew where it was.
- 7:23I would lend it to you.
- 7:24Probably make another one.
- 7:25No, this is one special.
- 7:27It's been passed down from generation to generation.
- 7:30It's still the old fashioned pin type from yore.
- 7:34From yesteryear?
- 7:36Yesteryear.
- 7:36Oh.
- 7:37yours just for sauce.
- 7:42Um,
- 7:43well,
- 7:44yeah.
- 7:45So I,
- 7:45yeah,
- 7:45if you think of anything for me,
- 7:47let me know.
- 7:49Anything that involves the clothes that I already have that I look cute in.
- 7:54That's,
- 7:55I've got it.
- 7:56One of your known outfits.
- 7:57Oh yeah.
- 7:59Great.
- 7:59This is Jenna three weeks ago.
- 8:02You're a time traveler.
- 8:03Hmm.
- 8:05That's a good idea.
- 8:05Oh my God.
- 8:06You know what you should do before the party?
- 8:07Hmm.
- 8:07which means you have to do it tonight,
- 8:09you should go out in an outfit
- 8:11and make it obvious what you're wearing.
- 8:14Hey, everyone, look at my outfit.
- 8:15And then your costume will make sense
- 8:17when you wear it again and be like,
- 8:18I'm a time traveler.
- 8:20From yesterday?
- 8:21Yeah.
- 8:21Yeah.
- 8:22Yester-yore.
- 8:23Say yester-yore.
- 8:24No.
- 8:26Okay.
- 8:27I like yester-year better.
- 8:29You do?
- 8:29Because, okay.
- 8:31Sorry.
- 8:33I like yester-yore better.
- 8:35Thanks try not to take it hard I worried that going to sound like a fart It not I thought you were holding the gun under there No no no
- 8:47Listeners, Francis is currently on arms.
- 8:49Yes, he doesn't have the hair of guns.
- 8:50Although he did just turn the gun towards me on the table.
- 8:53Yeah.
- 8:54You never know who your friends are.
- 8:56Quick interruption.
- 8:57Every week on the podcast, we do something where our producer Joe gives Francis and I each our own secret word.
- 9:07Throughout the course of the podcast, we need to find a way to slip the secret word into our conversation without the other person noticing.
- 9:16If the other person can correctly guess the secret word, they get a point.
- 9:20And right before we die, we add up all the points.
- 9:24And then we get a prize, whoever has the most points for guessing the most secret words.
- 9:31Here's Joe with today's secret words.
- 9:34Jenna's secret word is sundown.
- 9:38Jenna's decoy word is chatted.
- 9:41Francis's secret word is tantrum.
- 9:44Francis's decoy word is dwarfs.
- 9:47Back to the pod.
- 9:48Well, I think we can invent creative costumes and maybe invent something else.
- 9:57It's time for the invention of the week.
- 10:02Inventions.
- 10:06Does this need to be a spooky invention?
- 10:10Can be whatever you want, babe.
- 10:11Okay, because really quick, I was going to come up with spider leashes.
- 10:14but they need to run free
- 10:19yeah yeah yeah
- 10:19we don't want to tame the spiders
- 10:21just real quick
- 10:23is that like
- 10:24eight separate strings
- 10:26that come into one
- 10:27and then you have the leash
- 10:29good question
- 10:29no there's a body harness
- 10:30that goes around the abdomen
- 10:31that's the reason people
- 10:35haven't domesticated spiders yet
- 10:37because they haven't properly
- 10:39been leashed
- 10:39yeah so that
- 10:40okay but
- 10:41that's a freebie
- 10:42yeah that's free
- 10:43freebie
- 10:43free one
- 10:44here's
- 10:45one that you can use
- 10:47all year round
- 10:48baby
- 10:48you excited
- 10:50yeah
- 10:50great
- 10:51um
- 10:52here it is
- 10:54so exciting
- 10:56um
- 10:57you know how
- 10:58people ding your car
- 11:00sometimes
- 11:00I do know that
- 11:01yeah
- 11:01remember when they
- 11:02totally hit my car
- 11:03yeah
- 11:03oh and they didn't tell me
- 11:05yes
- 11:05oh and I don't know
- 11:06why that happened
- 11:06yeah
- 11:07oh
- 11:09oh
- 11:10yeah I was upsetting
- 11:11I did let it go though
- 11:12that's the power of a beater car
- 11:13I was like whatever
- 11:14Anyway, um...
- 11:17But...
- 11:19Sometimes you don't want that.
- 11:20I don't want you to hit my car.
- 11:22Yeah.
- 11:22Sometimes you pull into a space...
- 11:23Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.
- 11:25Sometimes you do.
- 11:25It's not that...
- 11:26Sometimes it's not that time.
- 11:27Yeah.
- 11:29Maybe tomorrow, yore, it will be okay.
- 11:32Not today, yore.
- 11:34And yester, yore, forget about it, honey.
- 11:37Uh-huh.
- 11:38Here's what I'm thinking.
- 11:39Okay.
- 11:39Okay.
- 11:40I have a system that will prevent bumps and dumps.
- 11:47I was trying something.
- 11:52You guys, I'm the only one laughing.
- 12:00Okay.
- 12:00Uh-oh.
- 12:02I'm sorry.
- 12:03Hold on.
- 12:04Okay, I'm getting it back.
- 12:05I'm already writing down
- 12:09bumps and dumps as a name
- 12:10I don't know what this is yet
- 12:12but
- 12:12oh my god
- 12:16it was so unattractive
- 12:18okay
- 12:19I got what I needed out of this
- 12:22so
- 12:24here's the system
- 12:25the system is
- 12:29the system is
- 12:34when you get into a parking space
- 12:37and you think...
- 12:40Don't bump me.
- 12:42Don't dump me.
- 12:50This is rough.
- 12:52This is fucking rough.
- 12:56Okay.
- 12:57When you fall into a parking space,
- 12:59this is like shark toes for me right now.
- 13:00A great idea.
- 13:03One of our biggest money makers, by the way.
- 13:05Okay.
- 13:06All right.
- 13:07I do apologize.
- 13:15You're just going to have to cut this shit out.
- 13:17I'm so sorry.
- 13:18No, we're leaving it in.
- 13:19All right.
- 13:19So when you pull into your pocket space and you think, oh, it's kind of narrow or this could be a problem for me.
- 13:26No problem.
- 13:27Great.
- 13:27Because we have a proprietary system of anti-bump technology where you keep it in your trunk.
- 13:37And what it is, it's a thick rubber magnet that you just plop on the side of your car on both sides.
- 13:48So that if someone opens their door into your car, they won't damage your car.
- 13:52and all you do is it you just put it like in between your your driver the front and the back
- 13:57doors this way no matter like or you can you can pick the size you want right yeah so if you want
- 14:03like a one long strip for both sides you're good you just want like a small one it depends on your
- 14:07car go to our website you'll see the guide put in the kind of car you have we'll make a
- 14:11recommendation basically it's it's sticks on like a magnet and then when you come back out you can
- 14:16take it off and throw it back in your trunk.
- 14:19Nice.
- 14:21Okay.
- 14:21So, like, similar to what they have for, like, your bumper.
- 14:28You know how, like, there's, like, a thing that you could put in your trunk
- 14:31and it, like, it's rubber that comes out over the thing?
- 14:34Yeah, so you don't, like, scuff it up.
- 14:35I've only ever seen it for the bumper, for the back of the car.
- 14:39I used to see them all the time in cars in New York
- 14:42because, obviously, there's a lot of parallel parking and people are bad at it
- 14:45Our people don't really care if they push your car.
- 14:47Yeah, we can.
- 14:49Put it on your bumper so you don't get a dumper.
- 14:53Yeah.
- 14:56Gotta avoid those bumps and dumps.
- 14:59Oh my God.
- 14:59Okay, I got it out.
- 15:01Okay.
- 15:05I think that's a good idea.
- 15:09As long as the only issue I could see would be that the magnet would have to be strong enough that it's not going to fall off the car on its own, but not so strong that you can't take it off easily.
- 15:21Yeah, we got that. R&D's got it covered.
- 15:23Okay.
- 15:23We have no magnets. They've been essential to our invention repertoire.
- 15:30Okay. Good.
- 15:35And it comes in different colors.
- 15:37we could do
- 15:38the OEM
- 15:40match of your car color
- 15:41if you want it to match
- 15:42we can do complimentary colors
- 15:43it should be a cute
- 15:44little pinstripe
- 15:45Rocco's modern life
- 15:46yeah
- 15:46yeah
- 15:48yeah
- 15:49yeah
- 15:49yeah
- 15:51um
- 15:53pretty
- 15:54pretty great though right
- 15:55uh
- 15:56yeah
- 15:56I'm kind of surprised
- 15:57something like this
- 15:58doesn't exist already
- 15:59actually
- 15:59well
- 16:01that
- 16:04is
- 16:05great news for me
- 16:07Yeah.
- 16:09Because I think...
- 16:12Yeah, I think people will want to use this.
- 16:18Yeah.
- 16:19Would you want it removable or something that you could stick to the side?
- 16:27So, I see this going two ways.
- 16:30A removable version, because not everyone wants it on all the time.
- 16:35Well, right. Sorry to clarify. Yes, removable in general.
- 16:40But like I'm thinking like because if you got like one long one that covered your doors, well, then it would like cover the cracks of the doors, too.
- 16:47Well, that's why you put in your make a model, because if we basically like know where to there's like a cut to like the door could still open.
- 16:57So if you want to leave it on, leave it on.
- 16:59But the magnet is still not too strong that we can't take it off easily.
- 17:06Yeah.
- 17:06But if we're driving down the highway at 80 miles an hour, it'll stay on.
- 17:10Yeah, it takes applied pressure, but not so much that you're like, what the?
- 17:13Well because we also have perhaps a little thing that goes over the window like the bottom edge and then it weighted at the top or at the other end like with
- 17:27say like 10 pounds.
- 17:29That should help keep it
- 17:30in place, I would think.
- 17:33Coming at the window? No, so like if
- 17:35it's covering, say
- 17:37like the driver's side door,
- 17:39there's like a little metal bar
- 17:41that comes up and goes over
- 17:42the bottom edge of the window, and then
- 17:45there's a little weight at the end of it.
- 17:46I see what you're saying.
- 17:47Let me reassure you that the magnets on these are the appropriate power that...
- 17:53We don't need additional...
- 17:54We don't need it.
- 17:55So I was...
- 17:56I'm sorry.
- 17:56I was trying to put a hat on a hat and I apologize.
- 17:58No, it's okay.
- 17:59Sometimes a hat needs a hat.
- 18:01Hat squared.
- 18:03Is there some kind of like magnetic technology where it's like...
- 18:07You can like release where it's like a thing you turn and it like releases the suction?
- 18:13Like the Mission Impossible...
- 18:15Yeah, something like that.
- 18:16So then it's like, it's fully on there
- 18:19until you undo it.
- 18:21Then also that prevents people from stealing it
- 18:23because you've got the key.
- 18:25Yeah, that is true.
- 18:27I don't know if the boys in R&D can whip some of us.
- 18:29We can have a couple different versions, you know?
- 18:32And then these will be serialized.
- 18:35So, you know, if someone does rip it off your car,
- 18:39guess what?
- 18:41And if someone steals your car
- 18:42and you have these on them,
- 18:43guess what?
- 18:45you know where the car is
- 18:46yeah
- 18:47wow
- 18:48although everyone's gonna have them
- 18:49so that might not help
- 18:50that's true
- 18:52yeah
- 18:53you should be like
- 18:54wait a second
- 18:55that's it
- 18:55that's it
- 18:55that's it
- 18:56no they all have it
- 18:57no I mean like
- 18:57like if they're serialized
- 18:59then that means that you can track
- 19:00the specific
- 19:01yes
- 19:02yes
- 19:02especially if you like
- 19:03match your car
- 19:04your color
- 19:05you know
- 19:07100%
- 19:10we could put your
- 19:11your
- 19:11your like
- 19:13license plate on it
- 19:14and you know how like sometimes they put like
- 19:16characters on something
- 19:19but like you can't really see it unless you like look at it from a certain
- 19:21angle so it's like not super ugly
- 19:22you could like put your name or your
- 19:24license plate or whatever
- 19:26yeah my social
- 19:28yeah
- 19:28just send that in
- 19:32hmm
- 19:34yeah
- 19:37I think
- 19:38they already have this for a bumper
- 19:40how come people haven't thought about it for
- 19:43well this is a little different the thing you're
- 19:44The thing for that...
- 19:46The thing for that is most...
- 19:51You think my word is bumper?
- 19:53Is that what you just wrote down?
- 19:54You think that you invented something that has...
- 19:58Stranger things have happened.
- 19:59Okay.
- 19:59All right.
- 20:01Anyways, I was saying about improv.
- 20:06Anyway, so the thing for that is...
- 20:09I choose to trust you.
- 20:11The thing for the bumper is a, it's mostly, it's like fabric.
- 20:17It's like a material that like drapes down.
- 20:19And it's like not really the kind of thick rubber that I'm talking about for your car.
- 20:24Like this is going to be like.
- 20:25Oh, no, that's not.
- 20:26I'm talking about rubber.
- 20:27These things have rubber.
- 20:29Oh, I don't know what it is.
- 20:31Yeah.
- 20:32No, they're like thick.
- 20:34Yeah, okay.
- 20:35And rubbery.
- 20:37Well, hello.
- 20:38I know.
- 20:39So that's why.
- 20:40Okay.
- 20:40Well, this is a new thing that no one owns but us.
- 20:44Okay, cool.
- 20:45That's good for us.
- 20:46Yeah.
- 20:47And I like that we all like it.
- 20:49That's encouraging.
- 20:49Hear that, car lords?
- 20:50Car lords, I'm trying.
- 20:52This is for you.
- 20:55I feel the curse lifting.
- 20:57I just saw it.
- 20:58I just saw it go.
- 20:58It was gone.
- 20:59Wow, this is a spooky episode.
- 21:03Ooh.
- 21:04It just...
- 21:06Oh, it flew into Joe.
- 21:07Oh, my God, Joe.
- 21:08Walk home.
- 21:10Come on.
- 21:16So, Bumps and Dumps is one name.
- 21:20What other name possibilities?
- 21:28Evident.
- 21:32Self-evident.
- 21:34Ooh, yeah.
- 21:40I'm going to make dent all caps.
- 21:45Joe, what do you got?
- 21:49I'm thinking.
- 21:51It's hard to tump.
- 21:52It's hard to top, bump, and dump.
- 21:55It's hard to tump, bump, and dump.
- 22:02I was trying to think of something with Caribbean Queen,
- 22:09No more love on the run.
- 22:10No more bump on the dump.
- 22:13No more.
- 22:14This is a gift that keeps on giving.
- 22:15No more clip on the slip.
- 22:18Don't clip me and slip me.
- 22:19Oh, that reminds me.
- 22:20Hitting fun.
- 22:25Car condom.
- 22:27It's just rubber for your car.
- 22:29Carn-dom.
- 22:30Not an asha-ndom.
- 22:31Write it down.
- 22:36I'm writing down not an asha-ndom.
- 22:38No, your thing.
- 22:39Oh, okay.
- 22:39I was accepting it.
- 22:40Thank you.
- 22:42What about...
- 22:48Hit and miss.
- 22:51Okay.
- 22:51Playing on the hit and run theme.
- 22:52I like that.
- 22:53Or playing on hit or run.
- 22:56Wait.
- 22:57Or no, hit or...
- 22:57Sorry, hit or miss is what I meant.
- 22:59Hit or...
- 23:00Playing on hit or miss.
- 23:01It's hit and miss
- 23:02because you'll definitely miss
- 23:03because of our protection.
- 23:05Hit me, baby.
- 23:07Don't hit me, baby.
- 23:09Oh, go ahead.
- 23:09Hit me, baby.
- 23:11You'll hit me, but it'll feel like a kiss.
- 23:16Hit me, baby.
- 23:17Yeah.
- 23:22Okay.
- 23:26Self-evident, I think, is pretty good.
- 23:29Thank you.
- 23:30Bumps and Dumps is still really good, too, because of the lore.
- 23:33Yeah, the lore is important.
- 23:34Mm-hmm.
- 23:35Yester lore.
- 23:36Lauren Savior
- 23:39Our Lauren Savior bump and dump
- 23:44Ha ha ha
- 23:46I think
- 23:49Okay so I know that I'm a rare bird because
- 23:51I mean I'm so zen these days
- 23:53So like when we went out of your house that one day
- 23:57And we saw that
- 23:58Well I mean I noticed that someone had like
- 23:59Attacked the back of my car
- 24:02Yeah
- 24:02you noticed that I was very
- 24:05chill
- 24:06I was basically like oh
- 24:08damn
- 24:10but I mean like that's only because I had the freedom
- 24:13of like an older vehicle that I
- 24:15wasn't like super worried about how it looked
- 24:17I already had like some bumps
- 24:18and dumps on it
- 24:20but like
- 24:22I could see like
- 24:24being very upset
- 24:26you know like if you had like a really nice
- 24:29car and like yeah
- 24:31Because sometimes you don't even want to get it fixed
- 24:33because then your deductible,
- 24:35you have to pay deductible.
- 24:36Maybe your insurance rate goes up
- 24:37because you have to get your car fixed.
- 24:38That's not fair.
- 24:39Yeah.
- 24:39Like this, no.
- 24:42Well, and especially like the first ding
- 24:45is always the hardest.
- 24:48Sheryl Crow?
- 24:49Yeah.
- 24:50First ding is the hardest.
- 24:52Okay.
- 24:54Because it's like,
- 24:55you were perfect and now you're not.
- 24:58Even if it is like an old car,
- 24:59if it doesn't have any dings.
- 25:01You don't want dings.
- 25:02Right.
- 25:03So,
- 25:05just if you could avoid
- 25:06that first one altogether.
- 25:07Unless you're ordering
- 25:08crispy chicken.
- 25:10Then you want dings?
- 25:11Yeah.
- 25:12The ding sauce
- 25:13at Hillstone?
- 25:15Yeah, that's good.
- 25:16That's right, they sponsor us.
- 25:17That's it, mention them again.
- 25:19Please sponsor us
- 25:20and give us free steak.
- 25:23That would be great.
- 25:24Please.
- 25:25Please.
- 25:28We just promoted
- 25:28your chicken sandwich.
- 25:29All right.
- 25:32So, yeah, we all agree.
- 25:37Oh, what about dingbat?
- 25:43Dingbat.
- 25:44Shielding.
- 25:45Shielding?
- 25:46Shielding?
- 25:49Shielding?
- 25:50Are you going to get angrier every time you say it?
- 25:52Shielding?
- 25:53Fucking shielding?
- 25:55Or is it like shielding?
- 25:57Like she will ding It a shield against dings and also it a play on she will ding She ding She ding What about dentrum
- 26:09Like tantrum?
- 26:11Yeah, but like you're preventing it.
- 26:12Because I would be fucking pissed.
- 26:14Fucking pissed!
- 26:17Maybe that's too much of a stretch.
- 26:20Fend? Fend?
- 26:22Something with Fender?
- 26:24Fender no Bender?
- 26:27Fender, no bender.
- 26:31Because you won't get bent out of shape.
- 26:33Mm-hmm.
- 26:35Something with collision, maybe?
- 26:39I just got weak from all the ideas that we've been.
- 26:43We have a lot of names.
- 26:44We do.
- 26:45Okay.
- 26:45And people will be able to see all of the names on veryfinefriends.com.
- 26:49Something with rage?
- 26:51I'm sorry, I'm still going.
- 26:52I'm just so excited we all like this idea.
- 26:54I mean, it's clean. It's simple.
- 26:59Effective?
- 26:59Effective. We, since the boys in R&D have perfected that perfect level of magnetism that is necessary to keep it on the car, but not make it difficult to take off.
- 27:11Jenna, you forget.
- 27:14We're at a point where we turn backward and we already have plenty of science,
- 27:18so it's kind of like putting a cherry on top, you know?
- 27:21A lot of us is already done.
- 27:22We just applied our own rhythms and mathematics to it.
- 27:28This might be a stupid question.
- 27:30How come they don't just make some cars out of rubber anyway?
- 27:35Make the cars out of rubber?
- 27:37Yeah.
- 27:38Probably so we don't die.
- 27:40if we are hit?
- 27:42Ah, yeah.
- 27:43That's why.
- 27:44Thank you.
- 27:45I mean, but if they all were rubber,
- 27:48we'd probably still die.
- 27:50But, yeah, you're right.
- 27:52Maybe the doors could be rubber.
- 27:55Well, you need to be able to
- 27:56burn the gasoline within the car
- 27:59so you can't...
- 28:00The door?
- 28:01Can't...
- 28:02One door can't be rubber?
- 28:04Come on, just the one door?
- 28:06The driver's side door?
- 28:07yeah well
- 28:10all right
- 28:12I guess not dying
- 28:13there are no dumb questions
- 28:14okay
- 28:14thank you
- 28:14I knew there must have been
- 28:16an answer and
- 28:17I don't even know
- 28:18if that's right
- 28:18people may have just
- 28:19never thought of it
- 28:20that sounds about right
- 28:21it's the you know
- 28:24not dying thing
- 28:25that
- 28:25that frame
- 28:27protects you
- 28:28they do tend to
- 28:30do a lot of things
- 28:30with that in mind
- 28:31it's weird
- 28:32they're so
- 28:33hyper focused on it
- 28:34a not dying
- 28:35I know
- 28:35yeah
- 28:36we gotta design safe car
- 28:37just let it be rubber
- 28:40make it square again
- 28:42make it safe for the car and not safe for the human
- 28:44I don't need to survive everything
- 28:45yeah
- 28:47I'd rather have a cool car
- 28:49yeah
- 28:50I'd rather have a car made up
- 28:53totally of condom
- 28:55oh yeah
- 28:57tip to tail condom
- 29:01safe driving
- 29:01well uh great
- 29:04this
- 29:06the self-evident
- 29:08the shielding
- 29:13oh I see what you're doing
- 29:16she said okay I got it
- 29:18shielding
- 29:19shielding
- 29:20yeah
- 29:21that's good
- 29:22it's better than I gave you credit for
- 29:24yeah
- 29:25they are
- 29:26thank you baby

- 29:42They're already all over the road.
- 29:47If
- 29:47they... If you get one, though, if you manage
- 29:50to be one of the precious few that got...
- 29:52Because we're almost out of stock, I'm sure.
- 29:55Take a picture of your car
- 29:56with it, and tag us
- 29:58on social media, at Very Fine Friends
- 30:00on all social media. Yeah, we'll give you a discount code
- 30:02for the next one. I mean,
- 30:04for your next car.
- 30:05You're not going to need it
- 30:06for the current car
- 30:07because these things
- 30:08are built to last.
- 30:10Yeah, and if you sell this car,
- 30:11they're going to demand
- 30:11that you include it
- 30:12because...
- 30:12That's true.
- 30:13Yeah.
- 30:13It'll be such a...
- 30:14It's like a solar system.
- 30:15It'll up the resale value
- 30:17of your car.
- 30:18Hundo percento.
- 30:19Yeah.
- 30:20So,
- 30:21that wraps up
- 30:22the invention of the week.
- 30:25Nice work, Francis.
- 30:27Hey, it's a group effort.
- 30:28Nice work, Francis.
- 30:30Oh, car lords.
- 30:31Oh, my God.
- 30:31They've weighed in.
- 30:32Oh, thank you, car lords.
- 30:34you said that real sexual
- 30:37I did too
- 30:39excuse us for a moment
- 30:42honk honk honk
- 30:43okay
- 30:45that's the sound that car lords make when they have sex
- 30:49yeah or me we were doing it in a car
- 30:51and there was honking
- 30:52that's where honk if you're horny comes from
- 30:54that's where honking was born
- 30:56yeah I read that in the bible
- 30:58yep
- 30:58okay well
- 31:01it's time for our next segment
- 31:05haunted spouse
- 31:09that spouse you wanted is actually haunted
- 31:13pray tell
- 31:15what's that
- 31:17Francis you and I are a couple
- 31:19oh yeah
- 31:20duh
- 31:21we're gonna go to a haunted house
- 31:22and see what kind of things scare us
- 31:24oh okay
- 31:25I'll be the husband
- 31:28okay
- 31:29I know, but it's good to clarify because it's not always the case.
- 31:32It's not always the case.
- 31:33We'll see what happens.
- 31:37Oh, my God, honey.
- 31:40Enter if you dare.
- 31:43This is already so spooky.
- 31:45Beth, are you sure you can handle this?
- 31:47Because we can still back out.
- 31:49It only cost me 20 bucks each.
- 31:51I had that pop can discount.
- 31:53No, no, I want to do it.
- 31:55I want to do it.
- 31:55Besides, like horror and being scared gets getting your heart rate up.
- 32:00It's like a good aphrodisiac.
- 32:01Oh, I was hoping you'd say that.
- 32:03Yeah.
- 32:03Yeah.
- 32:04All right.
- 32:05Well, let's put our hands in each other's belt loops and walk on in.
- 32:09Okay.
- 32:09All right.
- 32:09You go first.
- 32:10He's so cheap.
- 32:11Oh, I tell if you dare.
- 32:15What?
- 32:16Cheap.
- 32:18Is that a commentary?
- 32:19I tell if you dare, I say.
- 32:20Okay.
- 32:20Okay.
- 32:21We dare.
- 32:21We dare.
- 32:22We're in.
- 32:22We're in.
- 32:22Oh, it's golden here.
- 32:24Oh.
- 32:25Oh.
- 32:25Oh, it's a little too cold.
- 32:31My breath.
- 32:33My breath.
- 32:35Oh, no, wait.
- 32:38Oh, God, no.
- 32:39What?
- 32:40It's my third nipple.
- 32:41It's showing.
- 32:42The cold brought out my third nipple.
- 32:44Oh, my God, Beth.
- 32:44I totally forgot about that.
- 32:45This is horrifying.
- 32:46I can't...
- 32:47Oh, no.
- 32:48Everyone will know I have a third nipple now.
- 32:51You're losing confidence before our eyes.
- 32:54Oh, ho, ho.
- 32:55You're so insecure.
- 32:57Oh, don't look at it.
- 32:57Don't look at it.
- 32:58I can't look away.
- 32:59I can't look away.
- 33:00A fourth nipple is growing from you right now.
- 33:03How are they doing this?
- 33:04This is so terrifying.
- 33:06Take my Swiss Army knife.
- 33:07Get rid of them.
- 33:09Much better.
- 33:10Okay, that's okay.
- 33:11It was just the first room.
- 33:12It was just the first room.
- 33:13That was weird.
- 33:15All right.
- 33:15Okay.
- 33:15I'm sure.
- 33:16Let's go to the second room.
- 33:17Oh, it's really well lit.
- 33:19Oh, yeah.
- 33:21Is it?
- 33:22What?
- 33:22I don't know.
- 33:23What?
- 33:24My unibrow.
- 33:26It's invisible.
- 33:27Ah.
- 33:28Huh?
- 33:28No, Beth, stop it.
- 33:30Oh, my God.
- 33:31Stop it.
- 33:32Oh, my God.
- 33:33Has it always been like that?
- 33:34Yes.
- 33:35That's why I have a dark house.
- 33:36Oh, okay.
- 33:37Thank God I always...
- 33:37You don't put aside any time for self-care or grooming.
- 33:42Stop it.
- 33:43It's disgusting.
- 33:45Pluck.
- 33:45Pluck, pluck, pluck.
- 33:46I got my tweezers, babe.
- 33:47I got my tweezers, babe.
- 33:49Where your nipples used to be are bleeding.
- 33:51Oh, God.
- 33:52Okay, well, this is a weird haunted house, but we're in it now.
- 33:57We got to keep going.
- 33:58Yeah.
- 34:00Hold my hand.
- 34:01Okay, I'm holding it.
- 34:02Okay.
- 34:02Oh, look, there's a staircase.
- 34:04I wonder if we can exit this basement, like a gift shop sort of deal.
- 34:07Oh, yeah, let's try it.
- 34:08Let's try it.
- 34:09Okay.
- 34:11Okay.
- 34:12Oh, okay.
- 34:13It's a long, it's a spiral.
- 34:15Oh, I always like that.
- 34:16Oh, this is fun.
- 34:17I'm getting a little dizzy.
- 34:18Me too.
- 34:19It reminds me of a seashell.
- 34:20At the bottom of the stairs, it's...
- 34:22Oh my God, it's...
- 34:24It's all my artwork from middle school,
- 34:28and all my siblings' artwork is on the wall,
- 34:31but mine's all in a box.
- 34:33Oh my God.
- 34:34Like, my parents didn't want it or didn't care about it.
- 34:37The artwork is representative of you as a person.
- 34:40I knew it!
- 34:41I knew it!
- 34:42I knew that my parents...
- 34:43liked my siblings better than they liked me.
- 34:45Beth, no. Let me look at it.
- 34:48So derivative.
- 34:49No.
- 34:50Oh, and bad.
- 34:53Oh, my God. You drew dwarfs.
- 34:55Why? Why would you do that?
- 34:57I'm... No, I... I just...
- 35:00So unimaginative.
- 35:03I'd been seeing a lot of dwarf art.
- 35:08And so it was just in my brain at the time.
- 35:11No, oh god, we gotta get out of here, burn them
- 35:13Okay, yes, yeah, lighting them on fire, thank god I
- 35:17Okay, good
- 35:20What else is in this creepy, creepy basement?
- 35:23I don't know, let's look
- 35:24What's this?
- 35:27Double helix DNA of
- 35:29The twin of mine that didn't survive, because I ate it
- 35:35Your vestigial twin?
- 35:37Yes
- 35:37His name was that too
- 35:38You named your vestigial twin
- 35:40Trophestigial twin?
- 35:42My parents wouldn't do it.
- 35:43They just wanted to move on.
- 35:44He would have solved world peace.
- 35:46Oh, no.
- 35:49Oh, my God.
- 35:52This is scary.
- 35:53It's just so scary.
- 35:54I'm going to eat the DNA.
- 35:56Oh, you're going to eat...
- 35:58You're eating it again?
- 35:59It's a vicious cycle.
- 36:04Oh, no.
- 36:05What's that?
- 36:06What?
- 36:07A man...
- 36:07Oh.
- 36:08A man just jumped out of the shadows.
- 36:11Oh, my God.
- 36:13It's Joe Biden.
- 36:17And he's already started to sundown.
- 36:19No.
- 36:20No, Joe.
- 36:21Joe, what are you doing?
- 36:27No.
- 36:29So scary.
- 36:31Oh, God.
- 36:31I'm throwing up my DNA.
- 36:33I'm sorry.
- 36:35Let's get out of the basement.
- 36:36Let's go.
- 36:37There's got to be a better elevator.
- 36:38There's an elevator.
- 36:39Oh, good.
- 36:39Oh, good.
- 36:39An elevator.
- 36:40Oh, my God.
- 36:42Ding.
- 36:45It was you.
- 36:47No!
- 36:48I wasn't going to say anything.
- 36:50Oh, no.
- 36:50We're trapped in here.
- 36:51The doors have already closed.
- 36:53I was going to blame it on the pneumatics.
- 36:57Oh, God.
- 37:00God, we're stuck.
- 37:01Oh, my God.
- 37:02Oh, is the elevator?
- 37:04Is it moving or is it just going really, really slow?
- 37:10It's representative of your relationship.
- 37:14Everything in here is representative.
- 37:17Don't agree with him.
- 37:18Don't agree with him.
- 37:20Agree with me if you dare.
- 37:23I've been going out for like five years and you won't even let me talk about marriage.
- 37:29It's more fun when it's a vague idea that isn't real.
- 37:34Oh my god, is that a clock ticking?
- 37:37Is that supposed to be representative of my biological clock that's ticking?
- 37:43No, no, that can't be it.
- 37:44It's just a clock.
- 37:45Sorry, that's actually the timer for my lunch break.
- 37:49I just, I'm really hungry.
- 37:51That's a sign, Beth.
- 37:52No, sorry.
- 37:53Oh, I'm...
- 37:53I'm back.
- 37:55Keep getting into it.
- 37:58Keep analyzing the relationship.
- 38:00Oh my god, it took us up too far.
- 38:03Oh, good.
- 38:04Oh, no, we're on the third floor.
- 38:05Oh, my God.
- 38:06Oh, my God.
- 38:07What?
- 38:08It's women's clothes and my size.
- 38:11No, don't.
- 38:12It's all women's clothes and my size.
- 38:16And I bought a year-blooming-dales card when you went home.
- 38:22You.
- 38:23And I wore them.
- 38:26You.
- 38:27This is a red sequin dress.
- 38:30Chauncey, what were you doing in a red sequin dress?
- 38:34I was performing.
- 38:37I was doing jazz.
- 38:41That's it.
- 38:43That's it, jazz?
- 38:43Doing jazz, yeah.
- 38:45For a room of men.
- 38:47I called myself Fertigino.
- 38:53Fertigino?
- 38:54Yeah, my twin's name.
- 38:59Vestigular?
- 39:00You mean vestigial.
- 39:01Oh, another insecurity. No, no.
- 39:06Fertigino just sounds like fertility, of which I'm rapidly losing.
- 39:10I should put this on as a punishment.
- 39:13No, don't.
- 39:13I should. I should just put it on.
- 39:15Don't you dare, Chauncey.
- 39:16Zip me?
- 39:17Put it on if you dare.
- 39:20I'm daring. I'm daring.
- 39:24Okay, we gotta find a way out of here.
- 39:26We can't... I don't think we can survive this haunted house.
- 39:29No, our relationship is as tenuous as Jenga sticks.
- 39:35Oh, God. Okay, let's just run down to the second floor.
- 39:39The second floor has got to be better.
- 39:41Okay.
- 39:42Oh, my God.
- 39:45It's a Thanksgiving turkey, but it's not fully cooked.
- 39:53Oh, my God, this is supposed to be like that time I invited your family over Thanksgiving
- 39:58and everybody got trigonosis poisoning.
- 40:03Oh, God.
- 40:04How did they know about that?
- 40:08I don't think this one's for you.
- 40:12What?
- 40:14You were working late.
- 40:16I was lonely.
- 40:20I screwed the turkey, Beth.
- 40:22I'm sorry.
- 40:24The same Thanksgiving turkey?
- 40:28They have children together.
- 40:33Oh, oh, so you'll give the turkey kids.
- 40:39But you won't give me kids.
- 40:41I didn't know what to do, Beth.
- 40:43Please.
- 40:44We ate it.
- 40:45Isn't that something?
- 40:46God.
- 40:47Oh.
- 40:49No, don't, don't, don't.
- 40:51No, no, no.
- 40:51I love you.
- 40:52I love you.
- 40:53I love you.
- 40:54Do you?
- 40:55I do.
- 40:55Look, we're almost to the back door.
- 40:56Oh, okay.
- 40:57This has got to be the way out.
- 40:58Yeah.
- 40:59Okay, this has got to be the way out.
- 41:00We'll probably never reach the back door.
- 41:02Okay.
- 41:03Right, Beth?
- 41:04No.
- 41:04I told you.
- 41:05I have limits.
- 41:08That's one of my limits.
- 41:09Okay.
- 41:09I respect your boundaries.
- 41:11Yes.
- 41:12The back door is not representative of anything in this situation.
- 41:15You're right.
- 41:16You're right.
- 41:16I apologize.
- 41:17The back door is always representative of true love.
- 41:20They know that.
- 41:21They know that.
- 41:23Okay.
- 41:24All right.
- 41:25Well, yeah.
- 41:26Maybe someday.
- 41:28when I have a ring and a kid,
- 41:32we could talk about this again.
- 41:33You're never going to want to...
- 41:34No, you're right.
- 41:35I'm never going to want to do it.
- 41:38I want to leave as in love as I came in.
- 41:41I don't know if that's possible.
- 41:42It's possible.
- 41:43We're doing it.
- 41:43Okay.
- 41:44Take my hand.
- 41:46It's wet.
- 41:47Let's...
- 41:47Well, I'm nervous.
- 41:48It's fine.
- 41:49No, I like it.
- 41:50It's comforting, actually.
- 41:50It's, you know,
- 41:52good old clammy hands.
- 41:53Yeah.
- 41:54Walk to the door.
- 41:55Close your eyes.
- 41:56We don't need to see anything else.
- 41:58Okay, okay, I'm not looking at anything.
- 42:04Okay, I'm opening the door.
- 42:05Okay, all right.
- 42:06Let's walk through it.
- 42:09Okay, well, are we at, are we at?
- 42:11I think we're outside.
- 42:12I think we're outside.
- 42:14Oh, okay.
- 42:18There's, was that it?
- 42:19Was that the exit?
- 42:20Did we do it?
- 42:21We did it.
- 42:21We did it.
- 42:22Oh, oh, thank God.
- 42:24Oh, my God.
- 42:25Oh, oh, oh, Chauncey, I love you.
- 42:27I love you so much.
- 42:27I'm sorry that what we went through back there.
- 42:29No, I want to marry you.
- 42:29I want to be your husband.
- 42:30Really?
- 42:31I want to give you kids.
- 42:32You really?
- 42:33You promise I promise I would never lie I still don want to give you the back door Then forget it That was a scary house Yeah
- 42:46It's too bad those kids aren't going to make it.
- 42:49It's too bad.
- 42:51You know?
- 42:54That's what happens.
- 42:55You take risks, and sometimes they don't work out.
- 42:58Yeah.
- 42:58That's why I'm going to avoid all haunted houses this Halloween.
- 43:01I didn't know they could be like that.
- 43:03I'm going to have to cancel my reservation for the 13th floor.
- 43:07Is that a haunted house?
- 43:09Yeah.
- 43:10It's a haunted experience.
- 43:12Yeah.
- 43:12There are people that chase you.
- 43:14Oh.
- 43:14But then halfway through, you remember, you're like, oh, they can't touch me.
- 43:18Yeah.
- 43:18It's the other kids.
- 43:19Yeah.
- 43:20I know what you're doing.
- 43:22I don't like that.
- 43:23Don't like what?
- 43:25The, well, here, let's, that wraps up.
- 43:28Haunted spouse.
- 43:28I don't like it when
- 43:33like the people chase you
- 43:35or whatever
- 43:36I remember
- 43:37Joe do you remember
- 43:38doing Halloween House of
- 43:39or the Universal Studios
- 43:41like
- 43:42I don't think the listeners
- 43:43want to hear about that
- 43:44it was really funny
- 43:45Joe was so nervous
- 43:46the whole time
- 43:47he was like
- 43:48he has grabbed onto my shoulder
- 43:50and like
- 43:50he was like clinging
- 43:51to my shirt
- 43:52and then when he
- 43:54like
- 43:54and they all clocked him
- 43:56immediately
- 43:57and so of course
- 43:58they would harass the crap out of him.
- 44:00But by the end of it,
- 44:03he finally let go of my shirt
- 44:04and it was just wet on my shoulder
- 44:07because he clung to it so hard.
- 44:10Oh, no.
- 44:12Oh, no.
- 44:13I became a woman that day.
- 44:16Wow.
- 44:17That is rough.
- 44:19You know what I would do
- 44:19if someone was chasing me at a haunted house?
- 44:21Hmm.
- 44:26Listeners, he just shot Joe.
- 44:28And he loaded another one.
- 44:30That was a loaded question you just asked.
- 44:32Yeah.
- 44:33Hmm.
- 44:34Speaking of questions, it's time.
- 44:38Speaking of loads.
- 44:42Time for our last segment.
- 44:43A-loo-ga.
- 44:44The big question.
- 44:47The question is very big.
- 44:53You know I like to ask you things.
- 44:55I love when you ask me things.
- 44:57That's good. And you're going to be, please.
- 45:02Please me.
- 45:03Okay. Here it comes. There it is.
- 45:10Since it's almost Halloween, in two short days, I would like for you to invent a new herbal luncheon.
- 45:22I'm kidding.
- 45:24Little joke.
- 45:25I was thinking that you could tell me a, I'm like cycling through these.
- 45:36I'm like, I want you to tell me like, invent a new scary story.
- 45:39Like a new like story to tell me, you know?
- 45:43Like a story that's famous, but that isn't famous.
- 45:48You know what I mean?
- 45:49It's a tale known the world round, but you just haven't heard it yet.
- 45:53Yeah.
- 45:53It's like new to me, but everyone knows this really scary story.
- 45:58I thought you could tell me it.
- 46:00It could be like, maybe like a myth or like something happened, you know, like a real crime that happened that's like become like, you know, a thing.
- 46:12Well, did you ever hear the tale of Rebecca Delancey?
- 46:17Yes.
- 46:18No, I'm kidding.
- 46:18No, I didn't.
- 46:18I'm sorry.
- 46:19Oh.
- 46:21Who do you?
- 46:23Should I be scared?
- 46:25I don't know.
- 46:26I think it's more creepy than scary.
- 46:31So Rebecca Delancey was a young coed in the 50s.
- 46:38The 1950s?
- 46:39The 1950s.
- 46:39It was 1953, to be exact.
- 46:41Oh, my God.
- 46:42She was a sophomore.
- 46:44Just a bobby-soxer in college.
- 46:47What?
- 46:48Have you ever heard that term?
- 46:49A bobby-soxer?
- 46:51I think maybe it's for high schoolers.
- 46:52do you know uh i do i stick to inventing spooky stories not words i'm not inventing no that's
- 46:59that's a real word first of all the there's a movie called the bachelor and the bobby socks are
- 47:05it's about a guy and a young girl i think hot go on because of bobby socks that's a thing he's like
- 47:12oh whatever that's a real thing um i'm not inventing words and i'm not inventing this story
- 47:18This is a real story.
- 47:19I know that.
- 47:20I could tell.
- 47:21I'm scared.
- 47:22She was, like I said, a sophomore in college at Davis College.
- 47:33And she very famously around college, she was an attractive girl.
- 47:39She was pretty.
- 47:41And she had a lot of suitors or potential suitors.
- 47:44they came to her and they would try everything.
- 47:49They chatted and chatted and chatted to no avail.
- 47:53Rebecca DeLancey would not have any of it
- 47:55because she was determined to become a doctor.
- 47:59So she was like,
- 48:01boys will get in the way of my medical schooling.
- 48:05No boys for me.
- 48:07Already, this is a creepy story, right?
- 48:09It's horrifying, right?
- 48:10Yeah, it is.
- 48:12What? No men?
- 48:13Who would want that?
- 48:14Next story.
- 48:16Rebecca Delancey would.
- 48:17Okay.
- 48:19So there was one day in her lab.
- 48:26She was staying late and it was,
- 48:28it was getting to the kind of close to the actual like autopsy cadaver stage
- 48:35of her medical class.
- 48:39She's very advanced, very bright for a sophomore.
- 48:44Especially she had advanced several grades already.
- 48:46So she technically is her sophomore year, but she was well far, far in advance in her schooling.
- 48:54So she is operating or doing her like, you know, dissecting just kind of general habits.
- 49:03She's working late at night.
- 49:04The teacher used to let her work on her own because he knew she was so focused.
- 49:09She didn't like distractions.
- 49:10of the students, the fly-by-night students
- 49:13that didn't care as much as Rebecca Delancey did.
- 49:17And she is doing her autopsy.
- 49:22She's opening it and she's properly cataloging
- 49:25all the various organs.
- 49:26Great. Liver. Wonderful. Yes.
- 49:30Oh, there you are, kidney.
- 49:32Whoa, she got it.
- 49:33She identified all of it properly
- 49:35and then was able to measure, weigh all of it,
- 49:39put it back in the body, sew it back up perfectly.
- 49:42Her teacher later, the next day, was like,
- 49:45Rebecca Delancey, no one's ever done such a good job
- 49:48disassembling and reassembling a body before.
- 49:53And she was just beaming.
- 49:58Just, she knew she was on the right track.
- 50:00The teacher giving her this compliment
- 50:02and knowing, like, I am the best.
- 50:04I'm going to be the best doctor there ever was.
- 50:07so much so that she later that day she was like you know what i'm gonna treat myself i'm gonna go
- 50:14to a coffee shop i'm gonna get myself a coffee and she sat down with her coffee and her books
- 50:20and she had her nose on a book and she hears from above her excuse me excuse me miss and she looks
- 50:29up and she sees a man and normally this would be the kind of tomfoolery she would not entertain talking to a man But she was in a good mood and she knew she was on the right track and this man had something about him that was very very distinct they just called out to her so she
- 50:47was like hi and he was like would you mind if i sat he's like she said uh sure you can sit and
- 50:58So he sat down and he was like, you look so familiar to me.
- 51:03I feel like we've met before.
- 51:07And Rebecca was like, I don't think so.
- 51:09I think I would have remembered if I had met you before.
- 51:11But they're both looking at each other and they like do know that there's something there.
- 51:16And Rebecca's like letting me, she could feel her guard slipping because there's something about this man that's so magnetic.
- 51:22She can't help herself.
- 51:23But it's like, well, maybe we could talk about this more over dinner.
- 51:28and she was like, I normally never do this,
- 51:31but you know what?
- 51:32Yes, let's do it.
- 51:34So that night he took her to a very nice dinner
- 51:37and the conversation just flowed.
- 51:40It was so easy.
- 51:42And like she had a glass of wine
- 51:45and then she had another glass of wine.
- 51:47And again, just something about this man was said,
- 51:51he was like, I keep feeling like you're really familiar.
- 51:55And so they get afterwards, he's like,
- 51:57have you ever been to Lookout Point?
- 52:01She was like, no, I've never, I have my only study.
- 52:04That's all I do.
- 52:05This is the first dinner I've gone to.
- 52:07He's like, let me show you.
- 52:08It's beautiful.
- 52:08You can see the whole town.
- 52:10So they drive up to Lookout Point and she's in his car
- 52:13and he's got a convertible.
- 52:16And they're sitting there at Lookout Point
- 52:17and they're looking out and it's beautiful.
- 52:20The city is sparkling.
- 52:25And it's crazy you haven't heard this story before.
- 52:27scared.
- 52:30And so then one
- 52:32thing kind of leads to another and they start
- 52:33kissing.
- 52:36And Rebecca just feels like
- 52:38this is like, ah, this is like what
- 52:39I've been waiting for. Screw those other
- 52:41like young boys at the school. They don't know.
- 52:44They're just boys. This is
- 52:45a man.
- 52:47Hot and scary.
- 52:50This is a man.
- 52:52And
- 52:52she starts unbuttoning his shirt.
- 52:55and then she feels something she looks down she's feeling the scar there's a scar on his chest
- 53:05oh and the man looks at her and he grabs her hand no he's like i know i know how i know you
- 53:17and then he rips open his shirt and he said you did this to me and then she sees in his eyes and
- 53:23She realizes she could picture him now.
- 53:26He was the cadaver that she had been working on the night before.
- 53:31I know.
- 53:32And she had a heart attack right then.
- 53:37And then died at the spot and became a cadaver herself.
- 53:41And to this day at Davis University, the medical lab is unofficially known as the Rebecca Delancey Mork.
- 53:57I can't believe you don't know that story.
- 53:59Wait, the lights on?
- 54:01No, they're going off.
- 54:02Wow.
- 54:04Yeah.
- 54:06Hey, Jenna.
- 54:07Yeah?
- 54:07Side note.
- 54:08Not a bad, new, scary story.
- 54:11Thanks.
- 54:12That was pretty good.
- 54:13Thanks.
- 54:15Hmm.
- 54:16Do you have one for me?
- 54:17Mm-mm, no.
- 54:18No, nothing?
- 54:19Well, I'll have one.
- 54:21Do you want one?
- 54:22Do you have time for one?
- 54:23Yeah.
- 54:24Oh, okay.
- 54:25I'll have a few minutes for one if you want.
- 54:27Okay.
- 54:30Hey, Jenna.
- 54:31Hmm.
- 54:35Have you...
- 54:37Have you heard of...
- 54:41cars that work.
- 54:44I've heard tell of them.
- 54:46No, no, I'm kidding.
- 54:49I don't know if you know about this,
- 54:50but there's such a thing as a foreign exchange program.
- 54:55Yeah.
- 54:56Okay, so you might not have heard about this,
- 54:59but did you hear that in the mid-2000s
- 55:03that there was a foreign exchange cover-up?
- 55:09No.
- 55:10Yeah, so there was this program between two schools, which I can't even say the names of the schools because it's all been, it's heavily redacted.
- 55:18You don't want to get in trouble.
- 55:20No, and well, they did so much PR spinning after the events of this that people aren't even sure what schools were involved.
- 55:28But basically, there was a host family outside of the U.S.
- 55:36and what happened was
- 55:38they decided to take in
- 55:40an American student
- 55:43right
- 55:44and so the American student
- 55:46goes overseas
- 55:47to an undisclosed location
- 55:48which of course
- 55:49wasn't undisclosed at the time
- 55:50but now we just don't know
- 55:51it's been
- 55:52it's been said
- 55:53Romania possibly
- 55:55maybe Spain
- 55:56we just don't know
- 55:57but I won't
- 55:59I won't participate
- 55:59in the program
- 56:00because this is so scary
- 56:01rawr
- 56:02yeah
- 56:03I mean you had a chance to
- 56:05I had
- 56:05yeah I could do it anytime
- 56:06I want it.
- 56:07Yeah.
- 56:07There's no age limit on it.
- 56:09Unlike Make-A-Wish.
- 56:11Yeah.
- 56:12Don't even get me started.
- 56:15Ageism.
- 56:16I know.
- 56:17It's everywhere.
- 56:18So, this family takes in the student.
- 56:24And the student is so excited because they always wanted to go to Europe, right?
- 56:28They're studying, they're doing great, and they're calling home.
- 56:31and, you know, telling their parents what a great time they're having.
- 56:37They're so excited.
- 56:37They're having the time of their life.
- 56:39And then strange things start to happen.
- 56:43And one of those things is that in the middle of the night,
- 56:48the student is sleeping and an alarm goes off,
- 56:53like the actual morning alarm, which is strange.
- 56:57It's like, you know, when you wake up and it's like way too early to be up
- 56:59and you know something's weird, like your body's like something's weird.
- 57:01The alarm was going off like somebody said it.
- 57:03And when he goes to turn the alarm off, the minute he hits the snooze button,
- 57:10the lights come on in the room, but the entire family is standing there around the bed.
- 57:18Oh.
- 57:19And he didn't know what to do.
- 57:22Of course, he was like a scared and he screamed.
- 57:23And then the lights went off.
- 57:26And when he got out of bed and hit the light switch, they were gone.
- 57:31He convinced himself this was a dream, right?
- 57:34It was like a nightmare because there was no explanation.
- 57:37But since that point, he was like totally on edge, right?
- 57:41Now, he was kind of scared.
- 57:42He wasn't really enjoying his experience anymore.
- 57:43He didn't want to go to bed.
- 57:46He would stay up as long as he could just to avoid going to sleep.
- 57:49But that specific thing never happened again, right?
- 57:52Just like a one-time occurrence.
- 57:54Well, the day before he's supposed to go home,
- 57:59the host family
- 58:02they say
- 58:03well we've really
- 58:04enjoyed having you
- 58:05it's been
- 58:06it's been a real treat
- 58:07a summertime treat
- 58:10but we have
- 58:13our own family vacation
- 58:14to get to
- 58:15so
- 58:17we won't be able
- 58:18to take you to the airport
- 58:19but
- 58:20stay in the house
- 58:21don't worry
- 58:21just lock it up
- 58:22take the key with you
- 58:23whatever we have extra keys
- 58:24just know that we consider you family we had such a great time we hope to see you again and they leave And that night that student was so scared because he like now I alone in the house right
- 58:36What's going to happen?
- 58:36Yeah.
- 58:37But nothing happens.
- 58:39So he wakes up.
- 58:42Of course, they're gone.
- 58:43He leaves a really nice note.
- 58:46And then he gets on the plane
- 58:47and goes home.
- 58:48He arrives late
- 58:49because of the time difference.
- 58:51And his family is
- 58:52not at the airport to greet him.
- 58:55It was really strange.
- 58:55and they want to answer the phone.
- 58:57So he takes a cab to get to the house,
- 59:00but nobody's there.
- 59:02Which is really strange.
- 59:03He hasn't seen his family all summer, right?
- 59:04Yeah, you'd think they'd be waiting for him.
- 59:06Also, he misses them.
- 59:07Yeah.
- 59:08Anyway, so he goes home,
- 59:09he makes himself a late snack,
- 59:11and he goes to bed.
- 59:12And in the middle of the night,
- 59:14the alarm goes off.
- 59:17And he shoots awake.
- 59:19And the minute he hits the alarm button,
- 59:21the lights come on.
- 59:23And his entire family
- 59:24is hanging around the bedroom, having been murdered.
- 59:29Yeah.
- 59:30The lights go off, and when he turns them back on,
- 59:33the bodies are gone and are never found.
- 59:37Whoa.
- 59:39His family just disappeared.
- 59:41Yeah, and nobody believed him.
- 59:45Wow.
- 59:46Spooky.
- 59:47It's a good story.
- 59:48I like that story.
- 59:49Thanks.
- 59:50It's real.
- 59:51It's not a story, it's real.
- 59:52Yeah.
- 59:52It's true.
- 59:53It's good.
- 59:54Thank you for telling us.
- 59:55Yeah.
- 59:55We had not heard that before.
- 59:56Sorry, I meant to say I like that story from life.
- 1:00:00It's okay.
- 1:00:00I knew what you meant.
- 1:00:01I just wanted the audience to know.
- 1:00:03Some people might not have heard it.
- 1:00:04So be careful where you send your kids.
- 1:00:07That's the real lesson here.
- 1:00:08Yeah.
- 1:00:08Yeah.
- 1:00:09Don't let your children out the house.
- 1:00:13Oh.
- 1:00:14I think we've successfully answered the big question.
- 1:00:18The big question.
- 1:00:20Okay.
- 1:00:21Last bit of spooky business.
- 1:00:24And I'm scared because I don't think I have it.
- 1:00:27I'm scared too because those stories scared me.
- 1:00:32Do you want to go first or do you want me to go first?
- 1:00:34I feel like you go first a lot.

- 1:02:41They chatted and chatted and chatted.
- 1:02:42Yeah, the boys would come to her and they chatted and chatted and chatted, but she would have nothing.
- 1:02:47That was cute to me.
- 1:02:48Hmm.
- 1:02:50Well, damn.
- 1:02:54I was worried it was going to be your decoy, so.

- 1:04:18Yes, I did.
- 1:04:19Oh, yes, yes, yes, I did.
- 1:04:21I did.
- 1:04:21Really?
- 1:04:22Hey, guess who else said it?
- 1:04:23Well, I know Jenna said it, but...
- 1:04:24What?
- 1:04:25What was it?
- 1:04:27Tantrum.
- 1:04:29Tantrum.
- 1:04:30you did say it though
- 1:04:33I'm pretty sure
- 1:04:33I'm pretty sure you just said the pun name
- 1:04:37no
- 1:04:39I'm pretty sure
- 1:04:40no I think I said it
- 1:04:42because I know I have to
- 1:04:44but I could be wrong
- 1:04:46I feel it because it stuck out to me
- 1:04:49I was like well it's a good thing Jenna said it
- 1:04:51because I don't think Francis actually said it
- 1:04:52I said it first
- 1:04:53and then I said it
- 1:04:55I know but then you started to say it
- 1:04:56because I usually have those
- 1:05:00Like I'm pretty sure you didn't actually say it.
- 1:05:03Well, time will tell.
- 1:05:04Either way.
- 1:05:05I mean, it's a question of one point after you just won like three.
- 1:05:08So you're still.
- 1:05:11Assuming you did say it, you're net four points.
- 1:05:14If I said it once and then also I guessed your decoy word is your real word.
- 1:05:20That's another one.
- 1:05:21And then you guess my word.
- 1:05:22That's two.
- 1:05:23So you're plus four.
- 1:05:24I'm putting three down on the card for now because I'm fairly.
- 1:05:27It's like it's stuck out to me.
- 1:05:29Oh, he didn't actually say it.
- 1:05:31I guess.
- 1:05:32I'm pretty sure I did.
- 1:05:34But I just want to believe that.
- 1:05:35I'm biased.
- 1:05:37Gosh.
- 1:05:37Are you, Jell?
- 1:05:39Well, I'm scared now.
- 1:05:39I'm paid by Big Jenna.
- 1:05:42I'm scared.
- 1:05:43Don't be scared.
- 1:05:43Don't be scared.
- 1:05:44I'm scared by how far behind I am.
- 1:05:46I am like seven and a half points behind.
- 1:05:50You just need one dreidel.
- 1:05:52God, those come around but once a year.
- 1:05:54well congratulations Francis
