- 0:05Good money, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:08It is a time now for car talk right here on K one.
- 0:12The one you trust, Rat Dungeons is in here with us today. And
- 0:16Rat's been kind of a interesting week. It seems like we've had two weeks
- 0:20in one, but it's been interesting. How's the car business been, and
- 0:25how have you guys a heared to the with crazy storms? You know,
- 0:29prayers to everybody out there that was affected by that. It's certainly you know,
- 0:34those of us who have lived in Oklahoma a long time understand what's going
- 0:37on. And we did take precautions at the dealership again and a third time
- 0:42this year. We've moved everything inside or under where we can. With all
- 0:47the pad we have in the showroom space, we've got a lot of room
- 0:51for stuff. It's amazing how they can pack a bunch of cars in the
- 0:55showrooms. You know, I've never seen that done before, but I imagined
- 0:59it would be something to see, not like we're selling tickets and having people
- 1:02watch it. Watch that happen. You don't do it. We kind of
- 1:04it's we're kind of superstitious about it now though, so you know, since
- 1:08we've been really aggressive in that in the last few years that we haven't had
- 1:12any damage. So that's that bushed your fingers hopefully, that's right. I
- 1:15mean it didn't miss us by much this time, that's for sure. There's
- 1:19uh, just down the road a little bit or roof laying on the wires
- 1:23you might have seen by high and you know, just driving over here,
- 1:26I saw, you know a lot of signs down and trees and stuff between
- 1:32here and the dealership. So yeah, those things really have no right or
- 1:36reason. No, they don't. And and like I said, those of
- 1:38us who are from around here have lived with them. You know, we
- 1:41don't want to take them for granted. Those of you who are nude pay
- 1:44attention this time of year. It's definitely you want to be listening to the
- 1:47radio and and with it, you know, a way to get to know
- 1:49what's going on. That was amazing how the whole news world focused us on
- 1:55that. And you know, this is approaching Barnstall and to all the folks
- 1:57there, we had Mayor Kelly and then we wish you the best. I
- 2:04know you've got a lot of work to do. And uh, you know,
- 2:07I had Kobe Brigman and some of our employees yesterday organized and gathered up
- 2:10a bunch of stuff and took a care package over there. Great to them
- 2:15and really proud of the team for doing that. You know, we didn't
- 2:19have any significant damage at the dealership. Just one little tree split in half
- 2:23and a few things blew around a little bit. All we're all good,
- 2:29all good, and most of employee there's a few employees had things trees through
- 2:32roofs a little bit and uh, you know, some some damage, but
- 2:38nobody's injured. And you said, deep breath, Here we go again.
- 2:44Beautiful weather now for a few days, and it's graduation time right around the
- 2:49corner. Got the big manufacturer sales events coming this summer season. We got
- 2:53suv season for Ford and the Summer Starts Here event for Toyota. I have
- 2:59great incentives across the board. We've got our big cash discounts and rebates and
- 3:02low interest rates, pretty good selection. Really listen now and if we don't
- 3:07have it, we'll go find it for you. So it's definitely I'm doing
- 3:12a lot of searching for vehicles right now. That's deer trades have opened up
- 3:16and people are moving vehicles around a lot. So I mentioned Kobe I mentioned
- 3:23he went to Barnstall yesterday. This morning he's in Dallas picking up a pri
- 3:28Well he gets around, honey, put some miles on there for you.
- 3:32Yeah. No. We also just completed April at the dealership. As you
- 3:37know, we were celebrating our eighty third anniversary, and somebody brought me the
- 3:42Sunrise Reporter where you guys did a story about the radio show. I thought
- 3:49that was really nice. I thank you. It was a great, great
- 3:52little recap of my conversation with Joe and Bob a couple of weeks ago.
- 3:55That was so much fun and I was I really enjoyed at and it,
- 4:00you know, I know hopefully people enjoyed it too. I know it's a
- 4:03little bit it's our story. We like to tell it, but it's a
- 4:06lot of you know a lot of people in Oklahma stories like that. I
- 4:10think it's it's one we're well worth sharing it to tell those stories about how
- 4:16we got here and what's what we're trying to do. We did, we
- 4:23launched new websites, We've completed a complete overall of our customer facing communications and
- 4:28shopping tools and continuing with that now it's a lot really exciting time at the
- 4:32dealership. You know, I can announce today that the winner, you know,
- 4:38last month we gave a gift a charity in town that each customer the
- 4:45bought a vehicle had a chance to select a charity to give a donation to.
- 4:47So we gave each of them one hundred dollars or we will be and
- 4:53the one that got the most votes was going to it gets two hundred and
- 4:56fifty per vote. And the winner once again is Hopestone Cancer Support Center.
- 5:01Really incredible organization that does so much and is you know, it was is
- 5:09as we talked about before, as something that's impacted the dealership and I want
- 5:13to particularly one of our salesman's families, and so he's very passionate about it,
- 5:19and he was he was very very much wanted them to win again.
- 5:23And I'm sure I was encouraging people. Lots of other people will be getting
- 5:30guests including West Side Community Center, k Life Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Chapter of
- 5:35the Nature Conservancy, Elder Care of Bartlesville, Dewey School Foundation, Bartlesville Family
- 5:44Crisis Center, Bartlesville Community Center Center, and Bartlesville Boys and Girls Club.
- 5:48So what a great group, and uh, you know, you can't pick
- 5:54every charity in a town like this because we have so many great but ones,
- 5:57But it's really great to be able to support so many this time of
- 6:01year and during our anniversary to focus that on our community because that's really a
- 6:08significant, significant part of what the dealership's all about. Community. You know,
- 6:13it is part of us and we're part of the community. So we
- 6:15want to support everything that the community that supports the community and keeps that great
- 6:21life we have here in Bartlesville going. So, you know, we have
- 6:26a busy weekend coming up here. I know this is a busy time of
- 6:30year as we're getting going into summer. It's almost time for tryouts for the
- 6:33bartles dungeons Ford Indians. Yeah, we just had yesterday talking about Thursday in
- 6:40the evening at seven pm they'll be trying out. You know, we're this
- 6:43is our eighty four season sponsoring that team, and we're really proud of that.
- 6:48You know, been recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the longest
- 6:53corporate sponsor of a sports team in the world. Wow, pretty amazing eighty
- 6:57four years. Uh. You know, maybe we're not as big as the
- 7:00sponsors in the Premier League or National Football League like that. Yeah, but
- 7:05none of them can say they've done it for eighty four years and or right
- 7:10here in the best city in the world, Bartlesville. And you know,
- 7:13we love doing that for those uh you know as the as the best amateur
- 7:17baseball players in Bartlesville are nearing the end of their high school careers most of
- 7:23the time, and from our whole region. Really the team attracts people from
- 7:26all over and uh, you know, we love to bring attention to them,
- 7:30give them that platform to play in our community, to kind of be
- 7:33the heroes and in that beautiful stadium downtown and you know, it's a great
- 7:39time. And it's been happening like that for so many years. And I
- 7:43you know, when I'm not that involved in the baseball but it is something
- 7:48that that you watch when you watch the whole program and how the kids were
- 7:53recruited and try out and how the families support the team and travel with the
- 7:57team, and you know, and they all care of and the games and
- 8:01you know that whole volunteer to take tickets self, the food, you know,
- 8:05all that stuff. It's just so uh it's such a community thing and
- 8:09it's it's another one of those sparks in our community and a lot of these
- 8:13kids go off to you know, have college careers and even major League baseball
- 8:18careers. Yeah, and it's a it's a great, great deal, you
- 8:22know. And before then we this, uh just tomorrow night, we've got
- 8:26the Summer Sizzling Series kicking off was swing into spring, and Saturday night is
- 8:33the best party in Borrowsville. Uh, the good, the bad, and
- 8:37the barbecue for benefiting elder Care. Really great, great stuff going on in
- 8:43the community. And I hope everybody's going out there. And then and it's
- 8:46out a huge ranch and it's a great opportunity to go out to the huge
- 8:50ranch and again have a great party and get some good food and have some
- 8:54fun. We've got coming up right around the corner our SunFest, Hot Street
- 9:01Party, Ben Johnson Days and all the rest of the summer stuff getting into
- 9:05the fourth of July, the Wina Tournament. You know, it goes on
- 9:09and on this time of year. SunFest, don't leave out SunFest and even
- 9:13Mayfest adults this weekend. So if you can't find something to do now,
- 9:20probably need to check your pulse or something. So another exciting thing we've done
- 9:28this week we did launch our land Cruiser application process is what I'll call this
- 9:35unique. Okay, if you haven't heard, folks, Toyota is bringing back
- 9:39the land Cruiser. Land Cruiser was discontinued a few years ago. It was
- 9:43a great vehicle, but it was kind of rare. It was the flagship
- 9:46suv for Toyota, very expensive. It kind of drifted from the original land
- 9:52Cruiser if you think back to those ones in the fifties, sixties, and
- 9:56they say even seventies and eighties, rugged tough vehicles known for their performance over
- 10:03time and being able to go anywhere, and not that they don't have great
- 10:07amenities even then. And you know, like all Toyota is such built with
- 10:13quality and it really lasted a long time. But land Cruise is coming back,
- 10:18going kind of heartening back to that original more of a rugged outdoor adventuring
- 10:22vehicle. And there's going to be a just one allocated to each dealer of
- 10:31this first edition, which is the top of the line or really a flagship
- 10:37land Cruiser. Now it's about a little over seventy five thousand dollars land Cruiser.
- 10:41They'll range from about fifty to fifty five up to this model they're all
- 10:46hybrid four by four, have a bunch of different trim levels. We'll have
- 10:52a trail hunter and a bunch of great vehicles. But this first one,
- 10:56we've had hundreds of calls. We are sales team got dismissive of all the
- 11:01calls, almost from all over the country, people trying to find a land
- 11:05cruiser they could buy or get on the list. And you know, as
- 11:09we've been through this the last few years, we went through a lot of
- 11:11this during COVID, you know those we really want to sell records in the
- 11:16local communities and local folks, and we don't mind you play no Texas,
- 11:20we don't mind you and Cinctania, Ohio. But by god it we'd like
- 11:24to see this. I have extra vehicles, I'll ship them to you.
- 11:28But you know what we'd like to do is get this land Cruiser in the
- 11:31right person's hands. And so we're going to have a little bit of a
- 11:35contest, a selection process. So there's a way to do it. There's
- 11:39an application on our website. Just go to the website and ask a few
- 11:43simple questions your name, phone number, stuff like that, and then we
- 11:46want to know your history with Toyota, your history with Dungeons land cruiser history
- 11:50would be cool what you want to do with the land cruiser once we get
- 11:56those applications, which we've already had quite a few from as far away as
- 12:00Montana and uh and Tulsa, Montana around here too, so but we want
- 12:09definitely to find the right person. Will you know there'll be more land cruisers
- 12:13later this year, so if you apply and don't get chosen this first time,
- 12:16will help you get one or do the best we can. I can't
- 12:20promise there's going to be enough for everyone, but definitely, Uh, you
- 12:24know, we're not going to mark it up. It'll be a simple price
- 12:28like everything else we do. And uh, but we really just want to
- 12:31be able to create a buzz around the vehicle. It should be here around
- 12:35the end of the month. We'll be able to show it to people.
- 12:37They can come in and look, and then we'll pick a winner from the
- 12:41entries. Uh. You know, I think there's some ways to you know,
- 12:43people with a great story are going to have, you know, a
- 12:46great opportunity here. Uh. If you're you know, into social media,
- 12:52maybe you could go out and create a buzz. We'd like to see something
- 12:56no viral it's kind of a cool, cool story. I think. You
- 13:01know, if we just had a list that'd be sold in a second and
- 13:05it'd already be gone if we'd let somebody sell it. But this way we
- 13:09give you an opportunity to have a chance to purchase it. Really don't know
- 13:13how many we're going to get going forward, but reach out to us,
- 13:16and this is a serious deal. If you're ready to buy a land Cruiser,
- 13:22go apply at DUNGEUS and we'll give you a chance and we'll talk to
- 13:26you. Our team will get right back to you there and let you know
- 13:28a little more information about the program and answer any of your questions, get
- 13:33you some information on the land cruiser if you want to do that, So
- 13:39reach out to the team and they'll be happy to help you with that.
- 13:41That's one thing I love about your team. You don't let anybody hang out
- 13:43there. They very responsive and they take care of it quickly and expediently and
- 13:48evasion. Well that you mentioned speed and quickly, I mean that is what
- 13:52we are. One of the things we really focus on with our simple price,
- 13:56you know, market based pricing. It's not like you we won't adjust
- 14:01a little bit, but we tried to put it on a really a fair
- 14:03price for anyone right out the door. That eliminates the need for a lot
- 14:07of back and forth. You know, if we we have digital retailing tools
- 14:11where we can you can actually work your own deal. You can go in
- 14:15and calculate your payment, get your trade evaluated, do all that on our
- 14:20website without even talking to us. Then you can do what they call a
- 14:24soft pall on your credit which is actually doesn't doesn't affect your credit score or
- 14:28anything, but it gives them a way to range or give you an actual
- 14:33payment that you get and then you can actually submit and purchase that. When
- 14:37you come into the dealership, we like to take up right there where you
- 14:41left off online, answer any of your questions and you know, finish up
- 14:46the negotiation if there is anything we need to overcome, and then you're on
- 14:50to uh finishing up the delivery. Learning about getting more from you know,
- 14:56understanding how to operate your vehicle. We allows us more more time to do
- 15:00that and really spend some time with you getting to understand you know, what
- 15:05you're purchasing and make it simple and easy, and you know, with our
- 15:09salary and sales professionals These folks are are really great. They're not going to
- 15:15press you or push you into something you don't want. They are truly paid
- 15:20a salary and have some incentives for volume, but really don't care at all
- 15:26how much we make. They're not paid a commission at all. And wow,
- 15:28and they really will take care of you. And they're a great team.
- 15:31Because we pay differently attract We've attracted a lot of different kinds of people
- 15:37into our sales culture. Our team is really a bunch of people that like
- 15:41to help people. And you know, because you're you know, in the
- 15:45old car business, kind of the pay plan and drove your motivation, you
- 15:48know. Frankly, you know, commission is a great, great opportunity for
- 15:54those who want it. But you think about it. When you were going
- 15:58into a new month, you really didn't know how much you were going to
- 16:00make. It was going to be based on what you produced, what you
- 16:03were able to sell, and the gross that are profits that they made selling
- 16:07those vehicles, and you'd get a percentage of that. That's what commission is.
- 16:11And so now our team knows what that they have a salary going into
- 16:15the month, they have you know, so it allows for people have who
- 16:18have you know, families and other needs and need to know, have a
- 16:22set income coming in UH to to really consider car sales that might not have
- 16:26in the past or might not in other places. So you have more people
- 16:30from women, you know, more more types of careers, people from medical
- 16:36fields who've gotten out of the medical field, people from you know, construction,
- 16:40people from all over and it yeah, that's right, No, it's
- 16:45a it's a great thing and really great folks, and you know, the
- 16:49hard part of their job is really understanding all the different product we have.
- 16:53I was looking at it on these new websites we have and there are at
- 16:59least twenty four different Ford models. That's underestimating a little bit if you broke
- 17:03it up into all the different UH variations of the model structure, and forty
- 17:08four different toyotas. So that's like sixty eight at a minimum that they need
- 17:15to have knowledge on. That's a lot to study, and so they spend
- 17:19a lot of their time doing that. And you know, that's that's another
- 17:23issue in our business. You know, with so many models and options,
- 17:27and you know, you think about the millions of vehicles it's possible to build.
- 17:33You know, you know, people often ask, well, you know
- 17:34you don't have much inventory, what what is you know how to I want
- 17:38a bigger choice. Well, the truth is nobody can stuck all those cars
- 17:42and the largest dealers in the world, and the truth is we all need
- 17:48are going to have to go search for if you're looking for that something special,
- 17:51that exact vehicle, and we do that every day. We really go
- 17:55do the work for you. We'll search all over the country. We can
- 17:57advise you if it's know, some things just are harder to get. We've
- 18:02got, you know, some of our great truck customers that need F four
- 18:07fifties right now, and those are just really hard to get built. So
- 18:10we work with them to adjust their orders to try to get them scheduled and
- 18:14on through production. And that's how it works with Ford. A lot of
- 18:18times we have visibility on the commodities that are holding up orders, and if
- 18:22you place an actual order, we can help you push it on through or
- 18:26or locate the vehicle for you. You know, people Toyota has a little
- 18:30different system. We haven't really talked about this much, but you know,
- 18:33people who shop for Toyotas have probably realized this, but they don't really order
- 18:40specific. I don't order the Toyotas that we get. We order the Fords.
- 18:44I mean down to the to the options and packages and very specific,
- 18:49very specific. Toyota produces the cars and then allocates them to us, so
- 18:56I have the ability to kind of control that, but I can't really say
- 19:02no, yes, you know exactly that is what I want you to build.
- 19:07Toyota is where it has a special order process where you can get stuff
- 19:11that's not normally there, but it takes a little bit and it's kind of
- 19:15invisible, you know, to the dealer, and so frustrating the customer if
- 19:19you're in that and we because I can't really tell when I'm going to get
- 19:23the vehicle or what's happening. And anyway, the point is just this summer
- 19:30there, Toyota's experimenting with putting more visibility in that process so we'll be able
- 19:34to get exact matches to what you're looking for to Toyota. And that's really
- 19:40important that things like Tundra and the truck models because people are you know,
- 19:44people have certain expectations and needs with the trucks that they live and work in.
- 19:48And also, you know, I want to recreate in it's all you
- 19:52know, kind of crosses over and UH trucks need to have that with all
- 19:56the with all their bells and whistles and the different features that they offer,
- 20:00it's really important. So that's coming. We've also got our great pick up
- 20:07and delivery and remote service going on the forward side. This is a great
- 20:11opportunity if you're too busy to get in some of our recalls. Now we're
- 20:17pretty much performing all of them as remote services. If we don't need to
- 20:21have the vehicle in the shop, that's room for another vehicle to get through
- 20:25the shop quicker and we can actually we have a Ford Escape that's equipped with
- 20:29a bunch of technology that allows us to go out to wherever your vehicle is
- 20:33at home, or at work, or at the movie theater parking lot and
- 20:38to help you with an issue, you know, whether it's a flat tire
- 20:42or a battery issue, or the recall that I mentioned. You know,
- 20:47maybe you just need a software update so you don't need to be in the
- 20:51shop. Then I can go to you update the software, you can go
- 20:53back to what you were doing. Maybe don't even need to do anything up
- 20:57with them helping hand us the keys and we'll hand them back there. You
- 21:02go. Pretty cool and it's a learning thing for us and for our customers.
- 21:07It's but if you're interested in that, contact the team. They'll they'll
- 21:11come get you and either pick you up and and the vehicle up and deliver
- 21:15it back to you if you if we're going to need the vehicle in service
- 21:19or when possible, we'll do the service remotely if that's what you want.
- 21:25So pretty cool offering that we haven't had for that long. You know.
- 21:32One of the other things I wanted to talk about today, you know,
- 21:34is our market based pricing. I know, you know I mentioned that earlier,
- 21:38and we do. Uh you go to great effort to really price our
- 21:42vehicles at a great simple price, and and that you know, that's a
- 21:48matter of looking at what other dealers are selling them for. There's a lot
- 21:52of data and the automotive industry of back actual sales transaction prices, and then
- 21:56you can look at how people they haven't priced on the internet. And we
- 22:00have technology that goes out there and gathers all that up for us, and
- 22:03we go in every day and reprice our cars. It's really meant to save
- 22:11you time and make it so that there's a a kind of a confidence and
- 22:15trust in the fact that we're working for you in that process. That extends
- 22:21even into finance. And I know this is if you do a you know,
- 22:25how to buy a car search on YouTube, you know, you get
- 22:27a lot of great advice. I mean, I'll admit that, and there's
- 22:30a lot of information though that's a little misleading sometimes, I think. And
- 22:34and you know, I was reading one the other day and they were you
- 22:38know, they talked about dealership finance and the other products our finance teams sell,
- 22:45like aftermarket warranties, gap insurance, windshield policies, exterior and interior protection
- 22:52plans, maintenance programs, things like that. The truth is, you know,
- 22:57if if you get the best rate and a great value on that product,
- 23:03you know, it's hard to argue that that's not something to consider,
- 23:07right. You know, if you're not getting a great rate or deal from
- 23:11your dealer and or a great value on the product, I can understand how
- 23:15you you'd be advised not to. But it's not as simple as just don't
- 23:21don't talk to the dealer about financing, because the truth is we are we
- 23:25specialize in automotive financing. It's all we do. And we want to put
- 23:30our the you with the best interest rate and deal structure that that's best for
- 23:36you. And so that's just what we do. And we're we start with
- 23:41that philosophy and H and try to create value in everything we sell and that
- 23:48that extends. I mentioned the the interior exterior product protection. So this is
- 23:53stuff that protects that your paint and H and the interior fabric and carpet in
- 24:00your vehicle. And we actually apply that at no additional cost to you on
- 24:04every new vehicle we sell. And that's I think a great benefit of purchasing
- 24:11it donees it gives you that actually more better resale value if you think about
- 24:15it, because you're able to make ensure that you don't have stains in the
- 24:19vehicle and stuff. It's actually got some insurance that if it can't if it
- 24:23does penetrate or the protective layer we put on there which you can't tell or
- 24:27see at all it actually on the exterior, it makes it really easy to
- 24:32wash. It's like almost a permanent wax solution. It does need to be
- 24:36applied every year, and the initial treatment we do is you know, it's
- 24:41just a one time thing and doesn't come with years of insurance. If you
- 24:45want to purchase that, you can, but we'll give you the initial application,
- 24:48which is a great value and that first year's policy and it's really a
- 24:56great deal. And we see people all the time taking it iage of it
- 25:00and you know what we see in you know, from our point of view
- 25:03on these warranties and this kind of product windshield coverage. All that is is
- 25:08when people need it, like now right, and you know when you need
- 25:17insurance, it's like the folks in Marshall, you need to have that.
- 25:21So you want to have that protection if it's possible. It really is,
- 25:26you know, a good thing to consider in the sales process. And when
- 25:30you're looking at a vehicle, you know, sometimes people get confused about what
- 25:33the products are. I mentioned gap insurance there. That's a product which actually
- 25:40covers the if you have a loan for the vehicle and it's worth less than
- 25:45the loan value and you have your vehicle gets totaled, you have to pay
- 25:49off your loan and there's that gap, is the gap between the loan value
- 25:55and your vehicle's value, and it covers that for you. So particularly if
- 26:00you're coming into a vehicle purchase with some inequity. Maybe you're trading before you
- 26:04have our interequity position on that last vehicle. This is something to consider and
- 26:10it's something that we always offer all our customers. It's a really great value,
- 26:15very very good. So once again I wanted to mention we've got some
- 26:19great stuff going on out of the dealership. Great interest rates. You know,
- 26:25the as low as two point nine for seventy two months on twenty three
- 26:30Explore, twenty four Escape, Edge and Expedition, plus ninety days deferred payments
- 26:34from Ford Credit, and a lot more. There's a lot more rebates and
- 26:38different options, special rebates, private offers. If you're a recent college graduator
- 26:45or graduating this summer, there's rebates for you there. So come talk to
- 26:49us. If you're looking for a vehicle. We've got Jeep conquest money on
- 26:55the Ford side. Owners of Jeeps get an extra thousand on the purpose of
- 26:57a twenty three or twenty for Bronco Bronco Sport Escape or Explore and Tesla Conquest.
- 27:04On owners of two thousand and eight or newer Teslas you get a fifteen
- 27:08hundred dollars on a twenty three or twenty four Moki or Lightning and we have
- 27:12both in stock right now. If you've got I mentioned the private offers,
- 27:17these are actually hidden rebates that are mailed out to customers up to four thousand
- 27:22dollars, and so these are somethings we can look for. If you're not
- 27:27sure or maybe you threw it away, we can find that for you and
- 27:30be happy to tell you if you have anything on that. If you're looking
- 27:34at a Ford. We also have great interest rates and incentives on the Toyota
- 27:41side. You know, I was looking at some leases we were doing recently,
- 27:45and the Toyota leases are incredible. If as far as a payment on
- 27:49a truck right now, you can get a Tundra at a lower payment for
- 27:53comparable vehicle than any other truck in the industry, really great, and you
- 28:00can get zero percent for thirty six months on a Tundra. Plus great rates
- 28:04on four Runner, Crown, Camery, Corolla, Rapho, and Highlander.
- 28:07So anyway, lots of stuff going on out at the dealership, and I
- 28:12know the team's out there ready for you right now. If you want to
- 28:15come on down, you bett, you tell them where they can find you.
