- 0:00Speaker 1: Dodgers are going to the World Series, their fifth pennant
- 0:03Speaker 1: in nine years, and who understands it more than one
- 0:06Speaker 1: of the greatest to ever do it, Clayton Kershaw.
- 0:10Speaker 2: He's joining us now at the desk.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Clayton, I got to ask career home runs, how many
- 0:14Speaker 1: did you have?
- 0:15Speaker 2: I didn't have three. I just had one. But uh, yeah,
- 0:20Speaker 2: which shoe Hey did tonight?
- 0:22Speaker 3: I mean MVP for one game, you know, and it's just, uh,
- 0:26Speaker 3: just a culmination of the whole series, you know, just
- 0:28Speaker 3: guys stepping up, especially our starting pitching, you know, is
- 0:30Speaker 3: unbelievable to watch, and you know, being in the bullpen
- 0:34Speaker 3: for these last four games, watching how those guys go
- 0:36Speaker 3: after it best, getting some big outs right there, and
- 0:39Speaker 3: you know, Bandy coming in helping Blake out and then
- 0:41Speaker 3: Rookie at the end like that was that was really
- 0:43Speaker 3: cool to see. And man, I'm just I'm just so
- 0:46Speaker 3: excited to get one more chance of this thing.
- 0:47Speaker 2: It's pretty awesome. Yeah.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Uh, Clayton, I have to go to you because I
- 0:53Speaker 4: played for eighteen years and you're the guy almost right
- 0:57Speaker 4: next to me in everything.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I've never seen anything like this.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Ye were you?
- 1:04Speaker 4: Were you ever in your wildest dream thinking that you
- 1:08Speaker 4: were gonna witness something like we're seeing nowadays with Joe
- 1:13Speaker 4: Hill done.
- 1:14Speaker 6: No.
- 1:15Speaker 3: No, I mean I think you know we all know
- 1:16Speaker 3: about show Hay, but until you play with him and
- 1:18Speaker 3: you see it, it's.
- 1:20Speaker 6: Just a different level.
- 1:21Speaker 7: Man.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It's just like you have to do so much. You know,
- 1:23Speaker 3: what's the starting pitcher is the routine you have to do.
- 1:26Speaker 3: He can do that and then hit every day while
- 1:29Speaker 3: doing that, and it's just I mean, he doesn't have
- 1:31Speaker 3: a regular starting pitcher schedule. He just kind of pitches
- 1:33Speaker 3: whenever we need him to, and he goes out there
- 1:36Speaker 3: and does that with multiple pitches, you know, splitter, curveball, slider,
- 1:39Speaker 3: sweep or sinker fat. I mean, it's just all, yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 3: I've got three pitches for eighteen years. He's got six
- 1:44Speaker 3: pitches any day once.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's just amazing.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Yeah, curse not too long ago.
- 1:49Speaker 8: You know, you announce your time, then you got to
- 1:51Speaker 8: make your last start here at Dodger Stadium, and now
- 1:56Speaker 8: you're here with a chance to go out on top
- 2:00Speaker 8: a champion, obviously a Forest ballot Hall of Famer. Have
- 2:03Speaker 8: you allowed yourself to really start taking in that this
- 2:06Speaker 8: is it, This is the last the last stage, four
- 2:08Speaker 8: more wins and the job is done.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I'm just I'm just so grateful. Man.
- 2:13Speaker 3: It's just been a it's been an unbelievable ride this
- 2:16Speaker 3: last few weeks.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And just to be a part of this team, like.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Yes, you know, it's uh, it's I've tried to take
- 2:24Speaker 3: it in as best I can, but at the end
- 2:25Speaker 3: of the day, I'm just so happy to be a
- 2:27Speaker 3: part of it. It's so fun. This group of guys
- 2:29Speaker 3: is awesome. We have a blast, and we're playing so good.
- 2:32Speaker 3: And whether I get to pitch or not, I'm just
- 2:34Speaker 3: so glad to be a part of it right now.
- 2:36Speaker 2: It's so fun.
- 2:37Speaker 5: But even if you're not pitching with the bullpenner up there,
- 2:39Speaker 5: what's been your message to everybody? You're the veteran, you're
- 2:42Speaker 5: the experienced one over here.
- 2:43Speaker 9: This is an old team, but at the same time,
- 2:46Speaker 9: it's a wise team.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Man.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Now obviously listening to.
- 2:47Speaker 3: You, Yeah, honestly, I'm not saying much down there, you know,
- 2:50Speaker 3: I'm just I'm just kind of I'm kind of learning,
- 2:53Speaker 3: trying to understand how to stay loose. And you know,
- 2:55Speaker 3: some of these guys are you know, twenty five, and
- 2:57Speaker 3: they do this and they're ready to go. I'm moving
- 2:59Speaker 3: around for two hours. Were trying to stay loose down there,
- 3:01Speaker 3: but no, it's a different perspective.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Down there, you know. It's uh, it's really.
- 3:06Speaker 3: It gives me a new perspective, a new understanding about
- 3:09Speaker 3: hard the bullpen is and you just got to be
- 3:11Speaker 3: ready whenever your name is called. And our guys are
- 3:13Speaker 3: doing a great job right now. It's it's fun to watch.
- 3:16Speaker 1: If there's one thing, I know, you barely want to
- 3:18Speaker 1: wear that hat or those pants, so go sell it.
- 3:20Speaker 2: That's right, it's time.
- 3:22Speaker 1: It's time, and we're now joined by a ragining world series.
- 3:28Speaker 6: MVP.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Have you had your saki yet?
- 3:30Speaker 6: I have not had sock yet, but I've had wine. Yes.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Nice.
- 3:34Speaker 1: We got to talk to you after game one and
- 3:36Speaker 1: we're marveling at Snell and then you had the home
- 3:39Speaker 1: run and you had gray hair coming in. I don't
- 3:42Speaker 1: know what the opposite of gray hair is, but your
- 3:44Speaker 1: reaction to Showhey's second home run with sheer and utter shock.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Have you processed it yet?
- 3:50Speaker 6: No, I'm still kind of speechless.
- 3:52Speaker 7: The man just struck out ten guys and hit three
- 3:54Speaker 7: home runs in the same game. It's uh, this is
- 3:57Speaker 7: you right, Yeah, it said four hundred sixtion. I feel
- 4:00Speaker 7: I think it just ran out of space to I
- 4:02Speaker 7: think it just hit something that far away. It's just incredible.
- 4:05Speaker 7: It's I kind of said it in there. The inevitable happened.
- 4:09Speaker 7: It's he was gonna break out at some point. And
- 4:12Speaker 7: when you saw him taking VP the other day, the
- 4:14Speaker 7: first two rounds it was a little full happy hooking
- 4:16Speaker 7: balls and by the third, fourth, fifth round it was
- 4:18Speaker 7: launching balls in the center field. The triple yesterday I
- 4:21Speaker 7: think got his confidence going. And then obviously he's just
- 4:23Speaker 7: so locked in when he's pitching that I think it's
- 4:26Speaker 7: just everything. The unicorn came out.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yes, Freddy, I have to ask you now that you
- 4:32Speaker 4: guys won, Yeah, are you guys concerned about having to
- 4:37Speaker 4: wait a little bit or or would you look would
- 4:40Speaker 4: you guys like to just see it go right now?
- 4:42Speaker 7: I mean, we obviously as baseball players, we we like
- 4:45Speaker 7: to play every day, and we we kind of scratched
- 4:48Speaker 7: that last year with having the week off, and then
- 4:50Speaker 7: we won the World Series. So we know how to prepare,
- 4:52Speaker 7: we know how to we know we got a bunch
- 4:54Speaker 7: of betteran guys on this team. We've got a couple
- 4:56Speaker 7: of guys that are banged up that could.
- 4:57Speaker 6: Use the rest our.
- 4:59Speaker 7: Starting pitching is so locked in that I think they
- 5:02Speaker 7: they would want to get going again.
- 5:04Speaker 6: But so it happens.
- 5:05Speaker 7: When you went four in a row, you get a
- 5:06Speaker 7: little break and we'll take it all in and we'll.
- 5:08Speaker 6: Get ready to go on.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Talking about that, I want to ask you, like, I
- 5:12Speaker 4: was part of the Big Leagues for eighteen years, and
- 5:15Speaker 4: I have never seen such a dumbant performance by by
- 5:20Speaker 4: by a rotation.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yeah, then by a team.
- 5:23Speaker 4: As a matter of fact, I was never part of
- 5:25Speaker 4: a such a dominance from a team to the other.
- 5:29Speaker 7: I mean for about seven weeks now about we started
- 5:32Speaker 7: playing really good baseball with three weeks to go in
- 5:34Speaker 7: the season, and that's all because of our starting rotation there.
- 5:36Speaker 7: I mean there was a stretch there was six seven
- 5:39Speaker 7: innings of zero run hit ball. They were just going
- 5:41Speaker 7: back to back to back. In those offense, We're just like,
- 5:43Speaker 7: oh man, we got we got to come on board
- 5:45Speaker 7: here and just score some runs.
- 5:47Speaker 6: And then we just started clicking.
- 5:48Speaker 7: And when you have confidence in the starting rotation, as
- 5:52Speaker 7: they can keep throwing up zeros and matching that as
- 5:54Speaker 7: an offense, We're like, just give us time, we'll get going.
- 5:56Speaker 7: We'll get going. And they're feeding off each other. They're
- 5:59Speaker 7: going out out and going seven, eight, nine innings.
- 6:02Speaker 6: It's just what they did.
- 6:04Speaker 7: We're throwing number ones day in and day out, and
- 6:08Speaker 7: they're all healthy. That's the key here, and we've been
- 6:11Speaker 7: waiting for that all summer and they're doing it. They're
- 6:14Speaker 7: locked in right now and we're ready for.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Friday, Freddy.
- 6:17Speaker 8: Now we can finally start talking about back to back champions.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Yeah, you're four games away.
- 6:21Speaker 8: It hasn't happened in twenty four years, and if it doesn't.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Happen, it should be twenty five.
- 6:25Speaker 8: But I think you guys have the best chance of
- 6:27Speaker 8: this in a legacy that you guys are trying to
- 6:29Speaker 8: leave behind.
- 6:30Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it's starting spring training. When Doc does
- 6:32Speaker 7: his meetings, he talks about how special it would be
- 6:36Speaker 7: to do a legacy in a dynasty and things of
- 6:38Speaker 7: that nature. And as at Los Angeles Stars, when you
- 6:41Speaker 7: put this on, you're expected to win, and we don't
- 6:43Speaker 7: shy away from it. We know the expectations, the pressure
- 6:46Speaker 7: that's put on us to win, and you just.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Got to embrace it.
- 6:49Speaker 7: You come here because you want to win, and it
- 6:52Speaker 7: was a little bumpy road during the regular season, but
- 6:55Speaker 7: we got here and we started playing good baseball, and
- 6:57Speaker 7: to potentially do that, that's all you can.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Really ask for.
- 7:01Speaker 7: And we got a bunch of great guys in there
- 7:03Speaker 7: that are playing really good baseball together. And we obviously
- 7:07Speaker 7: know if it was one just by the names on
- 7:09Speaker 7: the backs or paper, but we know baseball is hard.
- 7:12Speaker 7: It is a hard game, and we've just been playing
- 7:15Speaker 7: really good so hopefully we can keep doing that for
- 7:16Speaker 7: another week.
- 7:17Speaker 5: You said when you came out here, you celebrated with
- 7:19Speaker 5: your wine.
- 7:19Speaker 2: You're waiting for the big ones.
- 7:21Speaker 5: But I noticed when you all had the last out.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Yeah, it was.
- 7:25Speaker 8: Like a normal game, just the normal hot fives, the hugs.
- 7:27Speaker 5: There wasn't jumping up and down. There wasn't a dog pile.
- 7:30Speaker 8: Is that the whole mindset that, hey, we know this
- 7:33Speaker 8: is great, but this ain't it.
- 7:34Speaker 7: I think it's just it's kind of how the game
- 7:36Speaker 7: flows and things of that. I mean, it's just show
- 7:39Speaker 7: he was coming up and hanging on home run every
- 7:41Speaker 7: single third ning saying, guys, it's just kind of how
- 7:45Speaker 7: the flow of the games. It was just kind of
- 7:47Speaker 7: how it was going. I think more jubilation in the
- 7:50Speaker 7: Phillies when we won that one because of how hards
- 7:53Speaker 7: fought that was, and this one we just had a
- 7:56Speaker 7: forward lead, so it's kind of different. But believe me,
- 8:00Speaker 7: pure excitement inside. You guys know how hard it is
- 8:02Speaker 7: to win a championship, and we're itching to get going
- 8:05Speaker 7: here in a week.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You're right, one week away, week away, world, serious, let's
- 8:08Speaker 1: go here.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Congratulations, Thank you very much.
- 8:11Speaker 6: I appreciate it. Thank you guys for appreciate it. Thank
- 8:13Speaker 6: you guys. Keep began.
- 8:15Speaker 1: We know Lauren Shahati the hardest working woman in show business.
- 8:19Speaker 1: In the locker room with keyk Hernandez, let's take a
- 8:21Speaker 1: listen to the craziness.
- 8:23Speaker 10: Kei k Hernandez, you haven't fun yet.
- 8:26Speaker 5: I'm getting there. I'm getting there.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I'm trying, but.
- 8:28Speaker 11: Yet I had to stop to talk to.
- 8:30Speaker 2: You for a little bit. I gotta focus really hard
- 8:32Speaker 2: on my English is going away.
- 8:33Speaker 9: That's we okay, we okay, okay.
- 8:36Speaker 12: The three home runs, no big deal, right, you've done
- 8:38Speaker 12: it before.
- 8:38Speaker 6: I know.
- 8:38Speaker 11: I told him anybody can hit two homers in a
- 8:40Speaker 11: playoff game, you know, only their real ones hit three,
- 8:42Speaker 11: And he did it and he did.
- 8:44Speaker 5: I've done it, but I haven't punched ten or eleven.
- 8:46Speaker 2: In it on the mound.
- 8:47Speaker 5: So uh, I don't know what that feels like.
- 8:49Speaker 10: There's always something to work on, key get.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I know, I know next year, maybe next year.
- 8:52Speaker 10: Next year. What about I mean, we we're just here
- 8:54Speaker 10: last year.
- 8:54Speaker 12: What is it about this team year in and year
- 8:56Speaker 12: out getting it done?
- 8:59Speaker 11: The desire to win, the desire to win from the
- 9:02Speaker 11: from top to bottom of the organization, from ownership all
- 9:05Speaker 11: the way to you know, the guys in rookie ball.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Everybody wants to win. You know the.
- 9:08Speaker 11: Culture that we established, you know, the expectation year in
- 9:12Speaker 11: the year to win the World Series, and they they
- 9:16Speaker 11: were trying to win. And then we have a really
- 9:18Speaker 11: good winning culture. You guys could come in and we
- 9:22Speaker 11: get them to buy in, and special things happen when
- 9:25Speaker 11: people are buying in on the same page. And obviously
- 9:28Speaker 11: when you got starting pitching like we do that that
- 9:31Speaker 11: makes it a little easier.
- 9:32Speaker 10: One word to describe October kyk, I.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Can't answer that on TV.
- 9:38Speaker 10: A maniac something like that.
- 9:40Speaker 12: Okay, I answered it for you. Thank you, congratulations, thank you, mookie.
- 9:44Speaker 10: Congratulations. They had the best record in the National League.
- 9:46Speaker 10: How'd you guys silence.
- 9:47Speaker 9: Them for four I mean the guy the boys pitched,
- 9:52Speaker 9: we had some timeless hits.
- 9:54Speaker 2: We gotta did it all.
- 9:55Speaker 9: We gotta did it all, and for the first three
- 9:57Speaker 9: games we all did and then the last game so
- 10:00Speaker 9: did it by himself. So it's always good to have
- 10:02Speaker 9: him take over a game.
- 10:04Speaker 12: Lookie, not every super superstar says you need a shortstop,
- 10:08Speaker 12: I'll move for the good of the team. What was
- 10:11Speaker 12: it about this team that makes you say, whatever it
- 10:13Speaker 12: takes to win most defensive run, Shay've got that position
- 10:16Speaker 12: this year for you.
- 10:17Speaker 9: Yeah, it's really easy with these guys in here, it's
- 10:20Speaker 9: really easy. I mean, when you want to win, you'll
- 10:22Speaker 9: kind of do whatever. And then when when you got
- 10:24Speaker 9: the boys support you so much in so many different ways,
- 10:30Speaker 9: it just makes it easy to do what it takes
- 10:32Speaker 9: to win because you know they'll do.
- 10:33Speaker 6: It for you.
- 10:34Speaker 10: And Dave Roberts you say you'll follow him wherever.
- 10:36Speaker 12: What is it about that friendship that bond between you two.
- 10:40Speaker 6: I can't explain it.
- 10:41Speaker 5: I really can't explain it.
- 10:42Speaker 9: It's just something that from the from the first day
- 10:45Speaker 9: I came. I mean, it's just there's like this love
- 10:49Speaker 9: and we both want to win. We got a lot
- 10:52Speaker 9: of things in common, and I mean, it's just, uh,
- 10:55Speaker 9: it's so hard to explain. It's like a mentor, a father,
- 11:00Speaker 9: everything for enjoying congratlations, Thank thank you, Hm
