- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake go to roll.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Right, dumps it off into the right flaff to Michael Bumpers,
- 0:09Speaker 3: who bounces off a one tackler cats inside the forty
- 0:12Speaker 3: down of the thirty five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Matt pumpfake's looking at the go line, he throws it
- 0:17Speaker 3: into the end zone.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Touchdown, SAE Hawks.
- 0:20Speaker 3: It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 3: A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid
- 0:27Speaker 3: out of Washington State has found himself a place on
- 0:30Speaker 3: this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, NASA Jobie. Wooh.
- 0:36Speaker 5: Not a great day at the office for the Seahawks
- 0:37Speaker 5: as a fall thirty seven to three on the road
- 0:40Speaker 5: to the Baltimore Ravens. And if we learned anything from Sunday,
- 0:43Speaker 5: we learned that maybe the Baltimore Ravens are the best
- 0:46Speaker 5: team in football because that was wasn't really competitive, was
- 0:49Speaker 5: not a close game that didn't go to the Seahawks way.
- 0:51Speaker 5: They kind of took a big beating down there in Baltimore.
- 0:54Speaker 5: But to break this game down like we do every
- 0:56Speaker 5: single week we go inside the trenches with Ray Roberts.
- 1:01Speaker 5: It's time to go inside the trenches with former Seahawks
- 1:04Speaker 5: Ray Roberts.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Big Ray, Man, it's one of them days.
- 1:09Speaker 5: Man. You know, it's one sided matchup from really from
- 1:11Speaker 5: the second quarter on. I thought the Seahawks started well,
- 1:13Speaker 5: at least offensively, kind of trading blows with the Ravens.
- 1:17Speaker 5: But the Hawks were beating pretty much every statistical category.
- 1:20Speaker 5: And you know, after you have some time to think
- 1:22Speaker 5: about it, sit on it for a day, what are
- 1:24Speaker 5: your main takeaways from what you saw yesterday and is
- 1:27Speaker 5: there anything positive you can take away from that game?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Well, you know, the positive thing that you can take
- 1:33Speaker 2: away from the game is that you know that the
- 1:35Speaker 2: things that you need to be better at that you've
- 1:38Speaker 2: already done those things before. So it's not like they
- 1:41Speaker 2: have to go reinvent something that they haven't done, or
- 1:43Speaker 2: they have to go find some skill set that they
- 1:46Speaker 2: haven't had, or they have to go find an offense
- 1:48Speaker 2: that that they didn't have or defense they've never done before.
- 1:51Speaker 2: All those things they've been successful doing them. And so,
- 1:55Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot of conversation going on today
- 1:57Speaker 2: around you know, like even like the identity of the offense.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I don't think it's an identity thing. It's an execution thing.
- 2:03Speaker 4: You know.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's if the if the line is given Genail enough time,
- 2:06Speaker 2: he's going to complete the passes. If the you know,
- 2:09Speaker 2: a couple of times there has been some miscommunication on
- 2:11Speaker 2: on route so that we've come up with interceptions, you know,
- 2:14Speaker 2: on defense, and you know, if the fits and the
- 2:17Speaker 2: way that we're playing the asamism on the defensive line,
- 2:20Speaker 2: then we've they you've sw seen what they've stopped the
- 2:23Speaker 2: running game, you know. So it's not like, uh, this
- 2:26Speaker 2: is a moment of panic. This is just a moment
- 2:28Speaker 2: in the season where there's kind of a little bit
- 2:30Speaker 2: of a level set and say, okay, this this is
- 2:32Speaker 2: an elite team on both sides of the ball. This
- 2:35Speaker 2: is kind of where we matched up. But here's some
- 2:37Speaker 2: things that we could have done better. Here's maybe some
- 2:39Speaker 2: things we need to consider, But there's nothing to panic about.
- 2:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm with you, Ray, I think you know, sometimes
- 2:45Speaker 6: there are games like this, you you combined personnel and
- 2:49Speaker 6: execution in the perfect storm, and sometimes it gets out
- 2:51Speaker 6: of hand. That's why I felt felt like I got
- 2:52Speaker 6: out of hand. When you're looking at the offensive line.
- 2:55Speaker 6: I thought the Ravens did a good job with their stunts, man.
- 2:58Speaker 6: I mean, is it as simple as just watch in
- 3:00Speaker 6: the film, drawing it up on a scouting card and
- 3:02Speaker 6: go out there and practicing these stunts, because I would
- 3:04Speaker 6: assume other teams will try to do some similar things.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, you know, the thing with those line stunts, Mike,
- 3:10Speaker 2: is that if the communication is off a little bit
- 3:13Speaker 2: or you know, sometimes even as players, we panic, right,
- 3:17Speaker 2: So let's say I'm the guard and the defensive tackle
- 3:20Speaker 2: has maybe gotten pressure over my outside shoulder a couple
- 3:23Speaker 2: of times, so I'm gonna be a little bit more
- 3:26Speaker 2: aware of that. So the next time he rushes to
- 3:28Speaker 2: the outside, I may overset to the outside, But then
- 3:31Speaker 2: that's when they're running a game. So now he picks
- 3:33Speaker 2: the tackle, and then the defensive end wraps around, and
- 3:35Speaker 2: I'm too far committed to the defensive tackle to get
- 3:38Speaker 2: back to the to get to the defensive end that's
- 3:40Speaker 2: wrapping around. So sometimes it's it's just a matter of
- 3:43Speaker 2: going trust your technique, trust your training, trust what you're
- 3:47Speaker 2: doing so that you don't get yourself in those situations.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Because leading up to this game. They had done a
- 3:52Speaker 2: pretty good job of passing those games off, even with
- 3:54Speaker 2: all the different guys going in and out of the lineup.
- 3:57Speaker 2: But for whatever reason, the Ravens able to capitalize on
- 4:01Speaker 2: some of that, and that's kind of what they do.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Though.
- 4:03Speaker 2: They overwhelmed people with their with the pressure that they bring,
- 4:06Speaker 2: you know, so like two of their top you know,
- 4:09Speaker 2: sack numbers come from their linebackers, so they blitz a lot,
- 4:12Speaker 2: so you have to be in a lot of communication.
- 4:14Speaker 2: They show a lot of different things on the lot
- 4:16Speaker 2: of scrammers. So I think part of it was they're
- 4:19Speaker 2: good at what they do, so you got to give
- 4:21Speaker 2: them some credit. And then part of it is that,
- 4:23Speaker 2: you know, I think maybe there there may have been
- 4:25Speaker 2: a little bit of panic in some of the players
- 4:27Speaker 2: and trying to overcompensate for situations you know, that were
- 4:31Speaker 2: happening that didn't allow for those games to work better.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Ray you mentioned kind of all the shuffling we've had
- 4:36Speaker 5: on the offensive line. This was the first time I
- 4:39Speaker 5: think for a while at least or maybe all season
- 4:41Speaker 5: that Phil Haynes, stone Forth I Jason Peters were kind
- 4:46Speaker 5: of all messing around on that right hand side. So
- 4:48Speaker 5: definitely a lot of continuity issues. Do you think that
- 4:50Speaker 5: played a role at all into what happened on Sunday?
- 4:53Speaker 5: Or again, kind of like you just said, should we
- 4:55Speaker 5: just chalk that up a little bit too? Hey, the
- 4:57Speaker 5: Seahawks have just played the number one and the number
- 4:59Speaker 5: two ring defense in the NHL.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I think it's a combination of both. I don't think
- 5:04Speaker 2: you can discount either one of them. But you know,
- 5:06Speaker 2: it takes a lot of energy and focus and and
- 5:11Speaker 2: all that stuff to play against the number one defense
- 5:14Speaker 2: and then come back to next week and play against
- 5:15Speaker 2: the number two defense, and they are totally different types
- 5:18Speaker 2: of defenses. You know, the the Browns kind of relied
- 5:22Speaker 2: on their front foard to bring a lot of pressure,
- 5:24Speaker 2: whereas the Ravens, you know, they bring pressure from all over,
- 5:27Speaker 2: whether it's off the slot or the linebackers or the
- 5:29Speaker 2: games they are running on the inside. So it's a
- 5:31Speaker 2: totally different type of defense. But then I also do
- 5:34Speaker 2: think that, uh, maybe uh we were kind of all
- 5:38Speaker 2: buying into that shuffling of players a little too much
- 5:41Speaker 2: because you still have to have five guys that play
- 5:44Speaker 2: as goe and uh and when you when you have
- 5:47Speaker 2: some kind of chink in the armor, it's gonna it's
- 5:49Speaker 2: gonna fall apart somewhere, you know. So you're only as
- 5:51Speaker 2: strong as your week is link, and so your wink
- 5:53Speaker 2: is link. Can be a very good football player like
- 5:55Speaker 2: Sting Forsyth or or or Jason Peters, but the fact
- 5:59Speaker 2: that you haven't had the rest with them make it,
- 6:01Speaker 2: uh make it a little bit harder. And then Phil
- 6:03Speaker 2: Haynes has been in out, you in and out of
- 6:05Speaker 2: the lineup, so you know, sometimes when you've been out
- 6:07Speaker 2: of the lineup, you just focus on yourself when you
- 6:10Speaker 2: get back in and you're just trying to let me
- 6:12Speaker 2: just make sure I'm right, And then sometimes that breaks
- 6:15Speaker 2: down a little bit of the communication with the guys
- 6:17Speaker 2: around here. So I think sometimes I think a little
- 6:19Speaker 2: bit of all of that was happening on Sunday.
- 6:24Speaker 6: All right, so you fly to Baltimore, get beat down,
- 6:28Speaker 6: You're gonna come back, make some corrections. You're still five
- 6:30Speaker 6: and three, first place in the NFC West. How do
- 6:34Speaker 6: you get back on track and get ready for this
- 6:35Speaker 6: team the Commanders on Sunday?
- 6:38Speaker 2: Well, I think the thing you have to be aware of,
- 6:41Speaker 2: and this is what I really like about the Seahawks,
- 6:43Speaker 2: and we talked about this a little bit in the
- 6:45Speaker 2: postgame show, and it sounds like a lot of cliches
- 6:47Speaker 2: and stuff, but they do a really good job of
- 6:49Speaker 2: keeping things in perspective. They're not they I don't if
- 6:52Speaker 2: they have won this game, I don't think they would
- 6:53Speaker 2: have been like up on Cloud nine. And the fact
- 6:56Speaker 2: that they lost it doesn't mean that they're gonna be
- 6:57Speaker 2: digging their own graves already, and so they're they're kind
- 7:00Speaker 2: of keeping it in perspective. Everything that you want to
- 7:02Speaker 2: accomplish is still right in front of you. You're still
- 7:05Speaker 2: number one in the NFC West. You have a team
- 7:07Speaker 2: that's coming in that if you get refocused and locked
- 7:10Speaker 2: back in, let this stuff last until you'll midway through
- 7:13Speaker 2: the day, so hopefully about to by now, I don't
- 7:15Speaker 2: know when they have their meetings. This game is already
- 7:17Speaker 2: behind them, and you can start turning your attention to
- 7:19Speaker 2: the commanders because they have enough talent their NFL team
- 7:22Speaker 2: that they have some weapons that can come here.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And beat you.
- 7:25Speaker 2: So if you get refocused, get back to executing, not
- 7:29Speaker 2: necessarily trying to find your identity, but just getting back
- 7:31Speaker 2: to executing. This is a winnable game. You can get
- 7:34Speaker 2: right back on track and then you'll be right back
- 7:36Speaker 2: you know where you want to be, and so you
- 7:37Speaker 2: can always look back to lay could it, would have,
- 7:39Speaker 2: should it? But you didn't. So like, here we are,
- 7:41Speaker 2: we're in this situation. We're still in first place. Everything
- 7:44Speaker 2: we want to accomplish is still in front of us.
- 7:46Speaker 2: And you still have that gauntlet of the forty nine ers,
- 7:49Speaker 2: the Cowboys, the forty nine ers in Philadelphia coming up,
- 7:51Speaker 2: So like you have to have yourself ready mentally to
- 7:54Speaker 2: take that on when that part of the season comes up.
- 7:56Speaker 2: And so that starts today with them getting past this game.
- 8:00Speaker 5: That's all we talked to the big man, Big Ray.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Appreciate your insight because you're right. I do need to
- 8:05Speaker 5: keep this in perspective and that's a good message. PSA
- 8:07Speaker 5: to all the Seahawks fans that Bump was talking to
- 8:09Speaker 5: you on the show all day to day thinking the
- 8:11Speaker 5: sky's falling. You're still tied for first in the NFC West.
- 8:14Speaker 5: This guy is not falling, as you said last night.
- 8:17Speaker 5: The sky is still above us. It's still blew all
- 8:18Speaker 5: that good stuff. So Ray, appreciate you. We will we'll
- 8:21Speaker 5: chat with you later.
- 8:22Speaker 1: In the week. All right, yes, sir, yes, it was
- 8:25Speaker 1: all right. Let's get back into this matchup. Breaking it down.
- 8:28Speaker 1: It was not fun, it was it was not fun.
- 8:30Speaker 1: On Sunday, what had happened, See.
- 8:32Speaker 4: What happened at first, what happened was what had happened
- 8:37Speaker 4: was unhawked talk.
- 8:40Speaker 5: But on paper, when we looked at this matchup, we
- 8:42Speaker 5: talked about it. It was a good matchup between two
- 8:44Speaker 5: division leaders who play, you know, have similar styles of
- 8:46Speaker 5: football at least aspired to be right tough, physical play,
- 8:50Speaker 5: good defense, and that's what the Seahawks had been doing
- 8:52Speaker 5: as of late. Unfortunately, that's really not how it unfolded
- 8:56Speaker 5: at all. The Seahawks received the opening kickoff and went
- 8:59Speaker 5: three and out in the first position. Should have converted
- 9:01Speaker 5: on third down, Unfortunately jsn Kind had a slight bobble
- 9:04Speaker 5: wasn't able to bring the catch in Seahawks punt. The Ravens,
- 9:07Speaker 5: though on their opening drive, Seahawks returned the favor of
- 9:09Speaker 5: forcing a three and out of their own. The next
- 9:11Speaker 5: three possessions would end in punts for both teams. So
- 9:14Speaker 5: while the offense wasn't going crazy yet, you felt good
- 9:17Speaker 5: about the defense. They're stowing down Lamar Jackson in his
- 9:19Speaker 5: top ranking offense. But that's kind of where the game
- 9:23Speaker 5: kind of started to get out of hand.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah, man, Ravens get the ball.
- 9:27Speaker 6: They go twelve plays eighty one yards and Gus Edwards
- 9:30Speaker 6: gets going makes the score seven to zero. The Hawks
- 9:33Speaker 6: weren't able to respond, man, you know, through an interception.
- 9:35Speaker 6: It was a miscommunication. I remember were watching that and
- 9:37Speaker 6: we're like, we don't think Tyler Lockett has to play.
- 9:40Speaker 6: Gino goes up to the line, he audibles, ends up
- 9:43Speaker 6: tossing one up to Geno Stone. We didn't want to
- 9:45Speaker 6: see them. He's leading the league in interceptions and it
- 9:48Speaker 6: was just all bad. But in the Seahawks they will
- 9:50Speaker 6: step up. Man boy Mafe sacked Lamar Jackson, he forced
- 9:52Speaker 6: a fumble, he recovered to himself and we're like, yeah,
- 9:55Speaker 6: we back in this.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Let's go get it.
- 9:57Speaker 6: So the Hawks get the football, but they wouldnt take
- 9:59Speaker 6: advantage of the situation.
- 10:00Speaker 4: They go three and out.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Then the Ravens march down the field ten plays eighty
- 10:04Speaker 6: four yards, ending with another guests to be guests Gus
- 10:08Speaker 6: Edwards touchdown.
- 10:09Speaker 4: This made the score fourteen zero.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Fourteen to zero in most games, especially in the NFL,
- 10:15Speaker 5: is not very much two score game that's easy against
- 10:18Speaker 5: a team like the Ravens.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Fourteen kind of feels like a lot.
- 10:20Speaker 5: So the Seahawks se what they could very next possession
- 10:23Speaker 5: they get on the board, Jason Myers kicks a field
- 10:25Speaker 5: goal set up by a fifty yard bomb by DK Metcalf,
- 10:28Speaker 5: So you're like, okay, we have some sign of life.
- 10:30Speaker 1: The Seahawks are in this game.
- 10:33Speaker 5: And this next sequence bump, this is what really I
- 10:35Speaker 5: think the game wasn't over here, but this really put
- 10:39Speaker 5: the Seahawks behind man because lady, yes, very deflating. Fifty
- 10:43Speaker 5: seconds left in the half, Trey Brown forces a fumble
- 10:46Speaker 5: on Odell Beckham Junior, and now it's a you know,
- 10:49Speaker 5: it's a great play where he tackles in but he
- 10:51Speaker 5: doesn't touch the ground yet pokes the ball out Anyway,
- 10:53Speaker 5: Seahawks get the ball back on the with the Ravens
- 10:56Speaker 5: forty three yard line, so you're thinking, okay, Seahawks getting
- 10:59Speaker 5: the end zone. It's fourteen to ten. They're right in
- 11:02Speaker 5: this thing. At the very least, you're thinking, okay, get
- 11:04Speaker 5: you know, five or ten yards to kick a field goal.
- 11:06Speaker 5: Fourteen six one and a half were Gucci. Well that's
- 11:09Speaker 5: not what happened in the Seahawks ca penalty move backwards,
- 11:12Speaker 5: then Gino gets hit from behind, stripsack, the Ravens get
- 11:15Speaker 5: the ball and then they kick a field goal. So
- 11:17Speaker 5: now you go in halftimes seventeen to three and bump.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Second half All Ravens, All Ravens. They scored in every
- 11:24Speaker 5: possession that included some long plays in the run game,
- 11:27Speaker 5: and the Hawks were never able to get anything going
- 11:29Speaker 5: and lost by a final score of thirty seven to three.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Ouch.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yeah, all bad.
- 11:35Speaker 6: The Ravens had twenty nine first downs, the Hawks had six.
- 11:38Speaker 6: Have more punts than first downs nest. The Hawks were
- 11:41Speaker 6: at one for thirteen on third downs. They faced six
- 11:45Speaker 6: to seven third and ten pluses during that time.
- 11:51Speaker 4: The Ravens they were six for thirteen on third downs.
- 11:53Speaker 4: A little beat.
- 11:54Speaker 6: The Ravens ran seventy five plays and the Hawks ran
- 11:57Speaker 6: forty seven plays. The Ravens out get the Seahawks five
- 12:01Speaker 6: hundred and.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Fifteen to one point fifty one.
- 12:04Speaker 6: They dominated time possession forty minutes to nineteen.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Just all bad.
- 12:08Speaker 6: You know, there were plays where you felt like, if
- 12:11Speaker 6: this happens, then you could kind of change the identity
- 12:14Speaker 6: of the game and get back in it. But when
- 12:16Speaker 6: you're not converting on third downs, we're turn the ball
- 12:19Speaker 6: over not getting points off of it. When you're allowing
- 12:22Speaker 6: the team to run for almost three hundred yards would
- 12:23Speaker 6: have been three hundred if they didn't take kne at
- 12:25Speaker 6: the end of the game, it was just just just
- 12:27Speaker 6: wasn't your day. You know, it just wasn't your day.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Man.
- 12:30Speaker 5: In my failed college career, I played it in a
- 12:32Speaker 5: lot of games, like that bump where you got behind
- 12:36Speaker 5: and then it's kind of a snowball effect and one
- 12:38Speaker 5: bad thing happens, and then another bad thing and another
- 12:40Speaker 5: bad thing, and you start looking around You're like, damn,
- 12:42Speaker 5: here we go again. Anyway, that's just a little trauma
- 12:45Speaker 5: and PTSC coming up to the surface. Anyway, we'll talk
- 12:48Speaker 5: about some guys that made some plays.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Playmakers.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Playmakers told them what time it is?
- 12:59Speaker 3: Totally time.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Well, we'll start with one really positive note from Sunday,
- 13:04Speaker 5: and that was Boye Mafe. He's been gosh, he's been
- 13:07Speaker 5: one of the best things on the Seahawks defense all
- 13:09Speaker 5: season long.
- 13:10Speaker 1: So consistent.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Six tackles, one sack, one force fumble, one fumble, recovery
- 13:15Speaker 5: and with that he tied Michael Sinclair for a franchise
- 13:18Speaker 5: record with a sack in six consecutive games. He could
- 13:21Speaker 5: take over that record all by himself this weekend against
- 13:24Speaker 5: the Commanders.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But Boys is playing good football.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Man.
- 13:27Speaker 5: It was hard defensively for a lot of those guys
- 13:29Speaker 5: out there, Lamar Jackson with that offense and du they
- 13:31Speaker 5: can just toy with you. Man, you can You know
- 13:33Speaker 5: frustrating is you can never get your hands on somebody.
- 13:35Speaker 1: You can never deliver a huge blow.
- 13:37Speaker 5: And boy, one of the few times he actually got
- 13:40Speaker 5: to Lamar and force a fumble. Unfortunately, the Seahawks weren't
- 13:43Speaker 5: able to recover. But love what we've been seeing from
- 13:45Speaker 5: the second year player in Boye.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Yeah, boy has been super consistent. Man. Another guy has
- 13:51Speaker 4: been consistent is Jordan Brooks.
- 13:53Speaker 6: Eleven tackles, nine solo, one TfL and one pass defended.
- 13:58Speaker 6: There was a moment where we thought he was hurt
- 14:00Speaker 6: and it seem Michael's just a cramp. So thank goodness,
- 14:02Speaker 6: I prayed for you that night, Jordan, to make sure
- 14:05Speaker 6: everything was okay. Trey Brown also had three tackles too
- 14:09Speaker 6: solo and had a forced fumble that we talked about
- 14:11Speaker 6: and we weren't able to get points off of that,
- 14:13Speaker 6: but I thought Trey Brown did a good job in
- 14:15Speaker 6: sticky on the back end and making some plays.
- 14:18Speaker 5: Yeah, Trey continues to make plays, so I love that.
- 14:20Speaker 5: There's a couple of d balls where he ran stride
- 14:22Speaker 5: for stride with the receiver. So I'd love to see
- 14:23Speaker 5: that out of Trey. And then you got the rookie
- 14:25Speaker 5: Jackson Smith and Jigba JSN six reception sixty three yards
- 14:29Speaker 5: career high in both were yards in receptions yards. He
- 14:32Speaker 5: tied his performance two weeks ago, I believe. So yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 5: I mean not outrageous numbers, but those guys did a
- 14:40Speaker 5: couple of good things there. You want to continue to
- 14:42Speaker 5: see guys like Jayson just continue to build, continue to
- 14:44Speaker 5: get receptions, get raps, and continue to try to build
- 14:47Speaker 5: something positive. Moving on bump, which kind of transitions us
- 14:51Speaker 5: into the receiver roundup, and it's it's not gonna be
- 14:53Speaker 5: a long.
- 14:53Speaker 4: One, no, not at all. But we'll start with the
- 14:55Speaker 4: guy you just mentioned.
- 14:56Speaker 6: Jason had seven targets, six recessions for sixty three yards.
- 14:59Speaker 4: Along a five.
- 15:00Speaker 6: DK had one really big reception towards the end of
- 15:04Speaker 6: the half for fifty yards.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Tyler Lockett have three for thirty two.
- 15:09Speaker 6: Kobe Parkson had one for six, Sharpe one for five,
- 15:11Speaker 6: kin Walker won for one. In total thirteen receptions one
- 15:14Speaker 6: hundred and fifty seven yards.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Not great, nas not great.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Nope, it yeah. I mean, there's not a lot to
- 15:22Speaker 1: say about it.
- 15:22Speaker 5: I think these guys are way too talented and too
- 15:25Speaker 5: good a football team.
- 15:25Speaker 1: They're gonna maunce back. Every team has games like this.
- 15:28Speaker 5: I mean, the Chiefs lost to the Broncos last week, right,
- 15:32Speaker 5: I mean, they scored like seven points. They're clearly one
- 15:34Speaker 5: of the best teams in the NFL. Things happened. Seahawks
- 15:37Speaker 5: caught the Ravens at a bad time. They'll get over it.
- 15:39Speaker 5: But we talked about it earlier. One of the positive
- 15:41Speaker 5: things from Sunday was boy Mafe and now is him
- 15:44Speaker 5: getting to the quarterback Lamar Jackson first strip sack.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Second down at four.
- 15:48Speaker 3: He'll now comes out of the backfield, lines, will go
- 15:50Speaker 3: on to the right side, a slot to the far side.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Jackson steps up, ball of stripped away. It's on the ground.
- 15:55Speaker 3: But Seehawks are diving. Did they get there or not?
- 15:58Speaker 3: Let's see. Let's Seyhawks have the ball. I think it's
- 16:03Speaker 3: Mafey at the bottom of the pile. As Lamar Jackson
- 16:06Speaker 3: reared back to throw, his arm was grabbed. The ball
- 16:10Speaker 3: came out, and boy ain't Mafey who had to try
- 16:13Speaker 3: to chase down Lamar Jackson. All play or two or go?
- 16:16Speaker 3: This time grabs the fumble, returns the favor and now
- 16:19Speaker 3: the Seahawks have the ball in terrific field position.
- 16:24Speaker 6: Yeah, man, so boye is just a simple one on
- 16:28Speaker 6: one with the tackle.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I got to try to bend this corner. Man.
- 16:31Speaker 6: What he does a good job of is keeping the
- 16:34Speaker 6: hands of the tackle off of him and then dipping
- 16:36Speaker 6: his left shoulder and bending the corner. When you do that,
- 16:39Speaker 6: that forces Lamar Jackson to step up in the pocket.
- 16:42Speaker 4: All right, he is a righty.
- 16:44Speaker 6: So now boy A, just slap him on the wrists,
- 16:46Speaker 6: you know, like your teacher used to do to you
- 16:47Speaker 6: back in school when you're a bad kid.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Fas slap on the wrist. That ball is lose.
- 16:51Speaker 6: Not only does he get the sack, he gets the strip,
- 16:54Speaker 6: he gets the recovery, he gets the trifecta. And this
- 16:57Speaker 6: is just fun to watch this young man make place.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Every single week Man. Sometimes all it takes is just
- 17:04Speaker 6: a little poke balls out now the awareness to get
- 17:08Speaker 6: down on it.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Man, it's fun to watch.
- 17:10Speaker 6: Man Boya is solidifying himself as one of the pillars
- 17:14Speaker 6: in his defense.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Yeah, no question. At this rate.
- 17:16Speaker 5: I mean, he's gonna have like fifteen sacks because he's
- 17:19Speaker 5: gonna sack every game. So I'm all for that. Another
- 17:21Speaker 5: cool thing about this two bump. If you look where
- 17:23Speaker 5: Lamar's going. This is second and four. This is right
- 17:25Speaker 5: after the interception by Gino Smith and whatnot. Obviously the
- 17:29Speaker 5: game does get out of hand, but this could have
- 17:30Speaker 5: been a game changing play. And I believe it's a
- 17:34Speaker 5: running back whose motion out wide. He's gonna be wide open.
- 17:36Speaker 5: He's gonna pick up this first down. Trey Brown is
- 17:39Speaker 5: in a deep deep quarter or a deep third. I
- 17:40Speaker 5: can't necessarily tell from this not looking at all twenty two,
- 17:43Speaker 5: but that's gonna be a first down.
- 17:44Speaker 1: He's gonna be wide open.
- 17:45Speaker 5: So boy getting a good get off, And it's cool
- 17:47Speaker 5: to see a drill that every single defensive lineman has
- 17:51Speaker 5: done at any level of football.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Ben in that corner.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Sometimes he's got the big hula hoops out there, and
- 17:56Speaker 5: that's what you're doing that drill and getting the hands down.
- 17:58Speaker 5: So boy is just the thing I love about him
- 18:01Speaker 5: is he's putting different tools in his bag when it
- 18:02Speaker 5: comes to his pass rush. He can bowl rush you,
- 18:05Speaker 5: he can get the outside end, he can swim you,
- 18:06Speaker 5: he can do all that good stuff. So lamar or
- 18:09Speaker 5: excuse me, boy looking good. And it was one of
- 18:11Speaker 5: the few things that we got to celebrate yesterday because
- 18:15Speaker 5: the clock just ran out.
- 18:20Speaker 1: On me, taken by Hunley.
- 18:21Speaker 3: They're just gonna left the clock wind down. But it's
- 18:23Speaker 3: not even gonna bother taking that last time out.
- 18:29Speaker 6: Hey, Sometimes you just get beat, you know, And that's
- 18:32Speaker 6: what happened on Sunday, and it.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Got out of hand quickly.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Man.
- 18:35Speaker 4: But the Ravens, that's a good football team. They did
- 18:37Speaker 4: their thing.
- 18:38Speaker 6: They dominated, like you mentioned, almost every statistical category man,
- 18:41Speaker 6: first downs, third downs, time of possession, total yards, rushing yards,
- 18:46Speaker 6: QB hits. Whatever they wanted to do, they were able
- 18:49Speaker 6: to do. Man, and both sides. Offensive defense just didn't
- 18:52Speaker 6: do enough to win. But for context, the Seahawks have
- 18:56Speaker 6: facing the league's number one and number two defenses the
- 18:59Speaker 6: past two weeks. So you handle one and you faced
- 19:03Speaker 6: a better team on the road at their house. Everything's
- 19:07Speaker 6: clicking form. Hey, you take these ls. I mean, I
- 19:09Speaker 6: remind people I go the Ravens are seven and two.
- 19:11Speaker 6: You know that, right, they lost some games as well.
- 19:13Speaker 6: No one in this league is undefeated. There's going to
- 19:15Speaker 6: be days like this. Unfortunately, it happened to the Hawks
- 19:19Speaker 6: in a game that we really wanted to see a
- 19:21Speaker 6: couple things executed.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Yeah, of course we wanted to see them show the
- 19:24Speaker 5: rest of the NFL how good they can be. That
- 19:26Speaker 5: didn't happen on Sunday. They got beat Pete said it.
- 19:29Speaker 5: Everyone's talked about it. They just got beaten as fast
- 19:31Speaker 5: as the game, and it's going to happen sometimes.
- 19:33Speaker 1: They're still a good football team.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Because the thing that's my saving grace is I think
- 19:37Speaker 5: the Lions are a really good football team, and they
- 19:39Speaker 5: got sniketty smacked by this same team. It was almost
- 19:42Speaker 5: as carbon copy. I think they lost thirty eight to six.
- 19:44Speaker 5: It's almost the same game happened. So sometimes you hit
- 19:47Speaker 5: a team that's rolling and the final score is an
- 19:49Speaker 5: indicative of the gap between both teams. But right now,
- 19:52Speaker 5: on Sunday, the Ravens were better. The Hawks kind of
- 19:55Speaker 5: need to lick their wounds, bounce back, and they got
- 19:57Speaker 5: to take down these Commanders at home.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Dog.
- 19:59Speaker 5: I mean, this is a really tough game. We've talked
- 20:01Speaker 5: about it all year long on this podcast. They got
- 20:04Speaker 5: the Niners, they got the Cowboys, got the Niners, they
- 20:06Speaker 5: got the Eagles. They have all this games coming up.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Got to take care of business. The good thing is
- 20:12Speaker 5: the Seahawks, of some of their losses recently have been
- 20:14Speaker 5: to the AFC. That's not gonna hurt them necessarily in
- 20:16Speaker 5: playoff tiebreakers all that kind of stuff. But seven of
- 20:19Speaker 5: their last nine games were against the NFC, so it
- 20:21Speaker 5: is time to start stacking wins. All right, Well, next
- 20:24Speaker 5: time you talk to me and Momp, we're gonna be
- 20:26Speaker 5: a lot more happy because we're talk about getting ready
- 20:27Speaker 5: for a game against the Commanders.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Will break that down.
- 20:30Speaker 5: Remember, if you're listening on Apple podcasts, the rate us
- 20:32Speaker 5: five stars. Otherwise you can hear us anywhere Seahawks dot com, Seris, XM,
- 20:36Speaker 5: or wherever you get your podcasts. Seahawks take a big
- 20:39Speaker 5: ol lose to the Ravens thirty seven to three, but
- 20:41Speaker 5: we'll be back with you on Wednesday to break down
- 20:43Speaker 5: the Commanders
