- 1:53Speaker 2: TV What's up? Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I'm Misty.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 2:11Speaker 2: the outskirts of Wonderfest. Wonderfest. Wonderfest. You're back. Again.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Again.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Not in the bowling alley parking lot this time because
- 2:19Speaker 4: apparently that is no longer an option.
- 2:22Speaker 2: What's up with that, man? I remember last year they
- 2:25Speaker 2: moved stuff around and changed things inside and it was confusing.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But this year, I almost pulled in that parking lot.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And then there's like Big concrete barricades in the way.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I'm like, dudes, what are you doing? This is where
- 2:37Speaker 2: I park every year.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I think they're called Jersey barricades.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Does Jersey approve of that?
- 2:42Speaker 4: I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that's what they're called.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Looks like a big piece of concrete to me.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't like it.
- 2:47Speaker 2: All I know is they're changing things in the world.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And it's confusing.
- 2:51Speaker 4: I don't like change.
- 2:52Speaker 2: That's not how the world works in my broken little brain.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I don't like it.
- 2:57Speaker 2: But either way, Wonderfest, we are back. And awesome as always.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Models?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Mini models?
- 3:04Speaker 4: Lots of models.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Monsters? Lots of kaiju? Not little cute ones? No. We
- 3:09Speaker 2: were looking for them last year. I don't know. They've
- 3:11Speaker 2: cut back on the little cute ones for some reason.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Yeah, more models, less cute import stuff.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I think because it's easier to get that stuff. I
- 3:18Speaker 2: think that was our theory last year, too. Because now
- 3:20Speaker 2: you can Teemu all your shit. Yeah. When we used
- 3:23Speaker 2: to do this, you know, 20 years ago, it was like,
- 3:26Speaker 2: nobody had that kind of stuff. But now, I feel like,
- 3:30Speaker 2: You can eBay anything you want and get it from
- 3:32Speaker 2: around the world. And I'm waiting for a shipment right now. Which,
- 3:36Speaker 2: by the way, they don't ship things the same out
- 3:38Speaker 2: in the world. They take their time. I blame Germany.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Because every time something goes to Germany or is coming
- 3:46Speaker 2: from Germany, because the good shit you get from Germany,
- 3:49Speaker 2: as I found out, all the contraband that I'm ordering
- 3:51Speaker 2: is coming from Germany. And it goes there and they go, oh,
- 3:55Speaker 2: it's boxed up. Here's your number.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Did you get one of those German mail order brides?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Okay, I've seen one lately that I'm considering.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And she talks about being German a lot. Anyway, I'll
- 4:06Speaker 2: show you her videos later. But they get there and
- 4:09Speaker 2: they're like, okay, it's here. It's going to be shipped.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And then it sits for like a week. And then
- 4:15Speaker 2: the next time they're like, hey, it's backed up and
- 4:17Speaker 2: going somewhere. It's a week later. Like, guys, do you
- 4:20Speaker 2: not know how mail works? You're supposed to get stuff
- 4:22Speaker 2: to me as soon as possible. I want to play
- 4:25Speaker 2: with my toys. Yeah. They're slow is what I'm saying.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I want my toys faster.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I got free little monsters. That was pretty exciting.
- 4:34Speaker 2: You did get free monsters. We always like monsters.
- 4:36Speaker 4: I like free things.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Free things is always cool.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Free things are my favorite things.
- 4:39Speaker 2: You got a pen.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I got a pen and another pen and a sticker
- 4:43Speaker 4: and a drink coaster and a fridge magnet.
- 4:48Speaker 2: If you knew what Space 1999 was, you'd be super excited.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Model Base Alpha. I don't fucking know. They got a
- 4:55Speaker 4: YouTube channel.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I do know what it is, but as I told
- 4:58Speaker 2: you in there, I was like, I didn't watch it.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I just had a hand-me-down toy or a toy that
- 5:02Speaker 2: somebody threw in the trash or I got it at
- 5:04Speaker 2: a yard sale. I don't know what it was, but
- 5:05Speaker 2: that big white ship that's the only thing most dorks
- 5:07Speaker 2: probably know about that show. There's a big white ship.
- 5:10Speaker 2: It had all these beams and shit on it. It's
- 5:13Speaker 2: a very distinct looking ship, so I'll give them credit.
- 5:16Speaker 2: The ship was cool. That's all I remember about the show.
- 5:19Speaker 4: I never watched it, but I like free shit, so.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Free shit's always cool. I know.
- 5:23Speaker 4: That's why I miss going to the health fair. I
- 5:25Speaker 4: would get so much free shit. I'm pretty sure this
- 5:26Speaker 4: post-it that I took all my Fear Street notes on
- 5:29Speaker 4: came from a health fair.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I asked you when we set this up. I was like,
- 5:33Speaker 2: so are we working around a fair of some sort?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Men's fair, women's fair, health fair.
- 5:37Speaker 4: They changed what kind of hospital it was. They changed
- 5:39Speaker 4: it from like Norton's to Baptist or vice versa or whatever.
- 5:43Speaker 4: And the new one doesn't care about health fairs. So
- 5:45Speaker 4: we don't have health fairs anymore.
- 5:46Speaker 2: They don't care about your health is what we're learning.
- 5:48Speaker 2: It's not fair.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Jerks.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Alright, I'm going to run out of post-its and pens
- 5:55Speaker 4: that don't work.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And they don't sell that stuff. You can only get
- 5:58Speaker 2: them free. I know.
- 5:59Speaker 4: That's how I get things. That's why I'm excited to
- 6:02Speaker 4: have a new pen from Space 1999. Model Base Alpha.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Thanks for the free pen. I need a post-it next time.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Next year. You have to not write anything until next
- 6:15Speaker 2: year and then you can get some post-its.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I wonder who invented those.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Janine Garofalo. That's my vote.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I thought it was Mira Sorvino.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but Janine actually knew who it was because she's smart.
- 6:31Speaker 4: I don't know. It's been a long time since I
- 6:32Speaker 4: watched that movie.
- 6:33Speaker 2: That movie is awesome though, I gotta say. And who
- 6:35Speaker 2: doesn't love some Lisa Kudrow?
- 6:38Speaker 4: When I was young, like young, young, people used to
- 6:40Speaker 4: tell me I looked like Lisa Kudrow and I never
- 6:42Speaker 4: saw it.
- 6:42Speaker 2: There's no downside to that though. Lisa Kudrow. I saw
- 6:45Speaker 2: her the other day. Actually, she's on that dumb commercial
- 6:47Speaker 2: and it's her and Kourtney and I'm just like, ugh, Kourtney. Ooh, Lisa.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Lisa still looks good. Courtney looks like she ducked her
- 6:53Speaker 2: the hell out of herself.
- 6:54Speaker 4: But did she get rid of those bangs?
- 6:56Speaker 2: Let's hope so. At least even she makes fun of
- 6:58Speaker 2: the bangs. So she's aware of how bad those bangs were.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Those bangs were fucking awful.
- 7:02Speaker 2: In the movie, she makes fun of those bangs. So
- 7:05Speaker 2: at least in universe and in our universe, those bangs
- 7:08Speaker 2: are terrible.
- 7:09Speaker 4: The worst.
- 7:10Speaker 2: But Lisa, super cute. So we looked at toys and all.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Who cares? More importantly, we need to get to, have
- 7:18Speaker 2: you watched anything? Normally I get stuck with horror, but
- 7:21Speaker 2: this time I figured we're not getting to the horror
- 7:23Speaker 2: until the second half of this. So we can talk
- 7:24Speaker 2: about whatever crap we've seen. I don't know if you've
- 7:27Speaker 2: seen anything, but I have watched some stuff that wasn't
- 7:30Speaker 2: horror for once.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I watched two things and a show. I watched two movies.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I think.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yes, I did. Do you know what they are? I
- 7:41Speaker 2: wrote it down.
- 7:42Speaker 4: On my note, because I never take fucking notes, but
- 7:44Speaker 4: the Fear Street movie made me take notes.
- 7:45Speaker 2: You are that committed.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Godzilla, minus one, plus one.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Extra one.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Whatever has fucking math in it.
- 7:52Speaker 2: More importantly, was it in color?
- 7:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Because there's also a super deluxe black and white version.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Well, I figure since we had the Netflix anyways, because again,
- 8:01Speaker 4: Fear Street.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Fear Street. Had to get it just so you could
- 8:04Speaker 2: be angry.
- 8:05Speaker 6: Yeah, dude.
- 8:06Speaker 4: But I figure, why as well watch all the shit
- 8:08Speaker 4: that's on Netflix before I cancel it, because it's only
- 8:10Speaker 4: got it for this.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Might as well.
- 8:12Speaker 4: That's what at least two of my watchings came from
- 8:15Speaker 4: was from the Netflix because of Fear Street. So yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 4: we watched the new... Is it really the new Godzilla
- 8:20Speaker 4: movie anymore?
- 8:21Speaker 2: I mean, it was a year or so ago.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I'm like way behind.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Again, the other one came out at the same time
- 8:26Speaker 2: and it was not in the same universe. That's what
- 8:28Speaker 2: I was saying though. Adam Wingar wins.
- 8:30Speaker 4: I have no idea who that is.
- 8:31Speaker 2: He's the director and I love that he gets to
- 8:33Speaker 2: make those. I said it on a recent episode. I
- 8:35Speaker 2: was like, dude, it's the super big budget wins. It's
- 8:38Speaker 2: the studio wins. It's the... The ones that made the
- 8:41Speaker 2: bad Godzilla reboot in America several years ago.
- 8:45Speaker 4: The one with Matthew Broderick?
- 8:46Speaker 2: No, not that one. That was bad. The one after
- 8:49Speaker 2: that one. I don't remember that one. That had that
- 8:51Speaker 2: dude from Quicksilver, dude. Aaron. Aaron Taylor Joy. I don't
- 8:57Speaker 2: think that's him. That's the chick. But he's kind of like.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Aaron Taylor Joy. Aaron Taylor Johnson.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Same difference.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Aaron Johnson Taylor.
- 9:03Speaker 2: He's not near as hot, but he's kind of hot.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I don't know. Craven-wise, he's all ripped these days.
- 9:08Speaker 4: How did Kick-Ass actually become.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Actual kick ass. So yeah, the first one of those
- 9:14Speaker 2: had him in it. And then every movie they keep
- 9:16Speaker 2: resetting and putting new people in it because the people
- 9:18Speaker 2: don't matter. And that's what I'm trying to explain to
- 9:21Speaker 2: Adam Wingard and he's not listening when I'm talking to
- 9:22Speaker 2: his movie. I'm like, quit showing me people talking and
- 9:25Speaker 2: get the monsters fighting. And then luckily he gets the
- 9:28Speaker 2: monsters fighting and it's awesome.
- 9:29Speaker 4: The one with Godzilla and King Kong?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yes. The last two. The ones that he's done both
- 9:34Speaker 2: have Kong and Godzilla. I haven't seen either one. And
- 9:36Speaker 2: sometimes they're versing. sometimes they're friends and now they're friends
- 9:40Speaker 2: and they it's.
- 9:41Speaker 4: It's it's i'm that way with people i work with exactly.
- 9:45Speaker 2: But it's ridiculous but i'm like it's you get to
- 9:48Speaker 2: make a godzilla movie it's like they gave you millions
- 9:51Speaker 2: of dollars to play with godzilla and king kong toys
- 9:54Speaker 2: dude you are you are super cool for getting to
- 9:57Speaker 2: do that so i don't think those movies are good
- 9:59Speaker 2: but they're fun when they stop talking and they show
- 10:03Speaker 2: monsters and it's ridiculous and I'm glad that he gets
- 10:06Speaker 2: to make them but the alternate version was the Toho
- 10:09Speaker 2: got to make the real version which is the one
- 10:11Speaker 2: you watched and I think it's awesome.
- 10:14Speaker 4: At least we watched the one that didn't have subtitles
- 10:15Speaker 4: we watched the one where they did dubbing Which Boyfriend
- 10:18Speaker 4: said he preferred the one that had like the actual...
- 10:22Speaker 4: He would.
- 10:23Speaker 2: He likes reading.
- 10:24Speaker 4: But then I'm like, you're going to miss something because...
- 10:26Speaker 4: That's what I always say.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I know it makes me sound like an illiterate American
- 10:30Speaker 2: because I'm an illiterate American. But the movie I'm going
- 10:33Speaker 2: to talk about later, I specifically was checking beforehand to
- 10:37Speaker 2: see if it was dubbed because then I wanted to
- 10:39Speaker 2: watch it. Because it looked cool, but I was like,
- 10:41Speaker 2: do I feel like reading? Never. Never. And I do
- 10:45Speaker 2: feel like, again, as a movie geek, like I'm watching
- 10:48Speaker 2: the screen. I want to watch the movie. If I'm
- 10:50Speaker 2: reading shit down here, I ain't seeing what's going on
- 10:52Speaker 2: up there. I like reading.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I just don't want to do both at the same time.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you're book reading, but that's different than trying to
- 10:58Speaker 2: watch a screen and read at the same time.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Because you get two things, and I'm not a good multitasker. Yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 4: sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not. But if I actually
- 11:06Speaker 4: want to see what's going on, then reading's not the
- 11:08Speaker 4: thing for me.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Again, I want to focus. I want to immerse myself
- 11:11Speaker 2: in the goings-on on the screen, and I can't do
- 11:13Speaker 2: that when I'm busy trying to Run my finger along
- 11:15Speaker 2: the bottom. What's that say? Trying to keep up because
- 11:19Speaker 2: my reading skills ain't so good.
- 11:20Speaker 4: I'm good at reading. I know the big words.
- 11:24Speaker 2: But still. I got us down the mountain. By then
- 11:26Speaker 2: they moved on to the next ones. I was just confused.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Because I don't know a lot of. I've never seen.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Aside from like the shitty Matthew Broderick Godzilla from many,
- 11:33Speaker 4: many years ago.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I mean.
- 11:34Speaker 4: I don't think I've actually seen an entire Godzilla movie.
- 11:36Speaker 2: That one doesn't really tie into anything else. No, I'm
- 11:39Speaker 2: just saying.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I don't know anything canon wise. I'm like, why the
- 11:42Speaker 4: fuck is Godzilla just floating in the water?
- 11:44Speaker 2: Because radiation i blame america we nuked people and then
- 11:49Speaker 2: messed up their whole shit and then godzilla was born.
- 11:52Speaker 4: So it's the fact that he just would float upright
- 11:56Speaker 4: like i'm like is he standing on something what's godzilla
- 11:58Speaker 4: doing is he like is what's why is he got
- 12:01Speaker 4: like little like skis.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Under there i don't know his ankles he's godzilla he can.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Do I'm like, the water's deep. How does he just float?
- 12:08Speaker 4: I don't understand.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Because he's Godzilla.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Okay, that's what I had my boyfriend try to explain
- 12:12Speaker 4: it to.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Me, too. I like that Jay gets it. He's just like, yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 2: it's Godzilla.
- 12:16Speaker 4: He can float.
- 12:17Speaker 2: He can do whatever he wants. He's Godzilla.
- 12:18Speaker 4: I'm like, is that canon? Is it like the Godzilla
- 12:22Speaker 4: mythos so that he can just float?
- 12:24Speaker 2: It's canon that Godzilla does what Godzilla wants. Sometimes he
- 12:28Speaker 2: has a baby. You need to go back and see
- 12:31Speaker 2: some Godzuki action.
- 12:32Speaker 4: I don't know about that.
- 12:33Speaker 2: But he's adorable. Is he? It's ridiculous, but it's adorable.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Is it the cute one? I've seen two different baby Godzilla.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's the cute one in the bowl of smoke rings.
- 12:40Speaker 2: It's adorable. Oh, come on. You know you want to
- 12:43Speaker 2: see that one. I don't know. The movie's ridiculous, but
- 12:46Speaker 2: they continued. It goes through stages. There's different areas of Godzilla, literally,
- 12:51Speaker 2: and some of them are more serious. Some of them
- 12:54Speaker 2: are extra silly. I feel like you can't go wrong
- 12:57Speaker 2: either way. Even when they take themselves seriously, it's fun,
- 12:59Speaker 2: but when it's just WWE in big costumes, it's also
- 13:04Speaker 2: pretty awesome. Because there's definitely, I think it's the megalon
- 13:09Speaker 2: that they get, like they hold one guy down while
- 13:11Speaker 2: the other one jumps in and hits him with an elbow.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It's a total wrestling move. I'm like, it's the funniest
- 13:16Speaker 2: thing ever.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Does one of them have a giant chair at some point?
- 13:18Speaker 2: You might as well. They pick up a mountain. I mean,
- 13:20Speaker 2: they do pick up trees and hit each other with them,
- 13:22Speaker 2: so it's pretty much the same thing.
- 13:24Speaker 4: I want a giant building-sized folding chair.
- 13:28Speaker 2: It's pro wrestling rules, man. That's how kaiju works. so
- 13:32Speaker 2: yeah they're always fun come on now that.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Was pretty good what else did I watch should I
- 13:39Speaker 4: stick with what we watched on Netflix or the other
- 13:42Speaker 4: movie that we watched first whatever you want since we
- 13:46Speaker 4: had the Netflix I figured I'd get caught up on
- 13:47Speaker 4: things that I had not yet watched on the Netflix
- 13:49Speaker 4: don't know why I keep saying it so much you
- 13:51Speaker 4: can censor it out if you want I mean as
- 13:53Speaker 4: long as they send us a check they're not going
- 13:54Speaker 4: to I assume everyone will.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Send me a check eventually keep waiting It's funny how
- 14:00Speaker 2: I'm not getting those checks.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Here's five bucks.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Don't ever mention our name again. Yeah, really? I'll take
- 14:04Speaker 2: that at this point.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Midnight Mass. I think I'm the last person in the
- 14:08Speaker 4: world to have watched Midnight Mass.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I don't think I've seen it, so you must not be.
- 14:11Speaker 4: It's a TV show. It's another one of those Mike
- 14:13Speaker 4: Flanagan's shows.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I like him. I just don't get around to most
- 14:18Speaker 2: of his because he keeps doing really long series and stuff.
- 14:21Speaker 4: This is only seven episodes.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I know, but that's a lot. I'm trying to get
- 14:27Speaker 2: through Like, usually I have to pick, like, one show
- 14:29Speaker 2: and try to get through it. And then when I
- 14:31Speaker 2: finish that one, I got to figure out what's the
- 14:33Speaker 2: next thing. So, I just started another one semi-recently. So,
- 14:38Speaker 2: I'll get to it eventually, maybe, if I'm lucky. How's
- 14:40Speaker 2: it go?
- 14:41Speaker 4: Let's got vampires that aren't ever referred to as vampires.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Sometimes, for legal reasons, they have to refer to them
- 14:47Speaker 2: as something else.
- 14:48Speaker 4: They're referred to as, well, because it's a religious thing,
- 14:51Speaker 4: hence mass.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Gross.
- 14:53Speaker 4: I know, right?
- 14:54Speaker 2: Religion.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Oh, but this guy, and he goes off, and he's
- 14:58Speaker 4: an old guy, and he goes to do the pilgrimage
- 15:01Speaker 4: to the Holy Land, and then there's a cave, and
- 15:04Speaker 4: then an angel attacks him. It's a fucking vampire, dude.
- 15:08Speaker 4: It's a vampire.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Is this like Dracula 2000? Is this like a Judas Angel?
- 15:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I didn't see that.
- 15:16Speaker 2: You probably did, and you blocked it out, because it's
- 15:19Speaker 2: not good.
- 15:20Speaker 4: It's fucking tall. There's no hair on it. It's just
- 15:23Speaker 4: a skin creature with giant... Obviously vampire wings. Where you're
- 15:27Speaker 4: getting the imagination to call this a fucking angel. I
- 15:29Speaker 4: guess because when it attacked him there was like the
- 15:31Speaker 4: light made like a halo around his head.
- 15:33Speaker 2: He's an angel straight from heaven.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Oh my god. He's a fucking vampire. Anyways, so he's
- 15:39Speaker 4: got his church and it's a whole thing and then
- 15:41Speaker 4: there's miracles that are happening and I don't know. Which
- 15:44Speaker 4: the biggest miracle that I would have been happy for
- 15:46Speaker 4: was this one chick was pregnant. But apparently when she
- 15:48Speaker 4: drank the blood, it made her not pregnant. And I
- 15:49Speaker 4: was just like, that's a good trick.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Wait a minute. The day after vampire?
- 15:53Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 15:54Speaker 4: The plan B. The plan B vampire.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Plan B vampire. Thank you. That's the morning after plan.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Going to go get bit by a vampire. I'll be
- 16:03Speaker 2: back in an hour. So if you want to get breakfast,
- 16:05Speaker 2: hang around.
- 16:06Speaker 4: He was just putting the blood in the communion one.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 16:09Speaker 4: So they were just, I'll tell everybody what's getting.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Whatever works.
- 16:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I keep trying to tell people to stop having children. Yeah,
- 16:15Speaker 2: I do too. They don't listen. I know.
- 16:16Speaker 4: What the fuck?
- 16:17Speaker 2: I keep having babies.
- 16:18Speaker 4: On purpose.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Ugh.
- 16:21Speaker 4: But yeah, it was good. I liked it.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Two thumbs up. I can switch up. I don't normally... Again,
- 16:29Speaker 2: I normally get stuck talking horror because, you know, I
- 16:32Speaker 2: like horror. But I like to mix it up every
- 16:34Speaker 2: once in a while. Sometimes I'll get to be like,
- 16:36Speaker 2: it's the weekend. Trying to relax. I don't need heavy
- 16:40Speaker 2: right now. And I don't really... like most comedies, but
- 16:43Speaker 2: I'm like, is there a comedy that looks like it
- 16:45Speaker 2: doesn't suck? No. There is. Uh-oh. I'm assuming you haven't seen.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Everything's brand new, surprisingly. Usually I watch stuff that's like
- 16:52Speaker 2: 35 years old, but everything I watched this last couple
- 16:55Speaker 2: of weeks has been brand new. As of 2025, The
- 16:59Speaker 2: Summer of 69. Sounds familiar. It has Chloe Fineman in it.
- 17:04Speaker 4: I don't know who that is.
- 17:05Speaker 2: She's from SNL, which you don't watch currently. No, I don't. So,
- 17:09Speaker 2: it's past the Mike Myers years. It's of the current timeline.
- 17:14Speaker 2: She's still on there right now. She's super cute. So,
- 17:18Speaker 2: it is one of those, like, I saw it and
- 17:20Speaker 2: it wasn't even rated R. And I was like, based
- 17:23Speaker 2: on the premise, I'm like, okay, I kind of need
- 17:25Speaker 2: to see just for the... I think it's interesting when
- 17:29Speaker 2: we get to these movies that are, like, based on
- 17:32Speaker 2: things that are, like, in theory, if they actually happen
- 17:36Speaker 2: to you in real life, this would be super dark
- 17:38Speaker 2: and fucked up.
- 17:39Speaker 4: But.
- 17:40Speaker 2: We're going to make it a PG-13 movie and everything's
- 17:43Speaker 2: going to be kind of okay for kids. So, you
- 17:47Speaker 2: know how when you hire yourself a stripper.
- 17:50Speaker 4: All the time.
- 17:51Speaker 2: To teach yourself how to get some action.
- 17:54Speaker 4: I didn't know there was an option.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Well, this girl did. So, this girl is super nerdy.
- 17:59Speaker 2: By the way, super cute. What is her name? I
- 18:01Speaker 2: wrote it down. Sam Morelos. I don't know. She was
- 18:07Speaker 2: on that 90s show. I hadn't seen her before. But
- 18:09Speaker 2: she's adorably dorky. So she's a high school senior, super dorky,
- 18:14Speaker 2: and is like totally in love with this dude. He's
- 18:17Speaker 2: super pretty. And she's like, he's been with this girl forever.
- 18:20Speaker 2: So she's never had a chance. And then they break
- 18:22Speaker 2: up right at the end of senior year. She's like, oh,
- 18:24Speaker 2: this is my chance. This is my chance. Except I'm
- 18:27Speaker 2: a super dork. What am I going to do? So
- 18:29Speaker 2: she accidentally wanders into a strip club in the middle
- 18:33Speaker 2: of the day wearing a school girl outfit.
- 18:35Speaker 4: How do you accidentally wander in?
- 18:37Speaker 2: Maybe he thought she was working the stage because she
- 18:39Speaker 2: was dressed in a Catholic schoolgirl type of outfit. So
- 18:41Speaker 2: maybe he thought she was next on stage or something.
- 18:44Speaker 2: But yeah, she just wanders in. The guy at the
- 18:46Speaker 2: door wasn't doing his job. She wanders in as a
- 18:49Speaker 2: high school girl and sees Chloe Fineman doing her business
- 18:52Speaker 2: on stage. And she's like, ooh, everybody's into her. She
- 18:56Speaker 2: must know how to do this. So she hires her
- 19:02Speaker 2: with her because she's a streamer. Because every kid Does
- 19:05Speaker 2: that now and is popular and has millions of viewers
- 19:08Speaker 2: and fans and backers and whatnot. I don't have these things.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 19:12Speaker 2: But supposedly in this fictional world, that's how things work.
- 19:15Speaker 2: So she has a bunch of money that she's earned
- 19:17Speaker 2: from her online gaming streaming deal. So she gives her
- 19:20Speaker 2: all this money to teach her how to win this
- 19:23Speaker 2: dude over. And essentially the ultimate goal, 69. Because she's
- 19:28Speaker 2: been told that's what the dude's into. So the whole thing,
- 19:32Speaker 2: they keep talking about 69 the whole time. But meanwhile, again,
- 19:36Speaker 2: this is the creepy story, but the tone of it
- 19:40Speaker 2: is super cool and fun and like almost family friendly.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Like Chloe Fineman's a stripper, but she wears a bikini
- 19:47Speaker 2: the whole time. Again, they're talking about 69. but it's
- 19:50Speaker 2: sort of again like everything is so almost wholesome really
- 19:56Speaker 2: it's like the pretty woman scene like.
- 19:59Speaker 7: Yes she's a hooker but this is a heartwarming tale
- 20:03Speaker 7: that you know it's all about true love and bullshit
- 20:05Speaker 7: like that so yeah it's the milk money You.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Ever had a kid go get himself a prostitute and
- 20:10Speaker 2: take him to class and do a show and tell?
- 20:13Speaker 2: They just make these movies every once in a while.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So that was half the reason I went into this.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I was like, how do they clean this up that
- 20:19Speaker 2: is not R-rated and super just grimy and gross? And
- 20:23Speaker 2: it's not. It's just adorable. And it's actually pretty funny,
- 20:26Speaker 2: I gotta say. I laughed out loud in the real
- 20:29Speaker 2: world for real several times.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Crazy talk.
- 20:33Speaker 2: So, it's a lot of fun. The girl is super dorky,
- 20:36Speaker 2: and I buy that part. She is clueless. But she's
- 20:40Speaker 2: adorable and she wins you over. And Chloe Fineman acts
- 20:43Speaker 2: super cool. Because she's a stripper. So she must be cool.
- 20:47Speaker 2: You know how cool strippers are.
- 20:48Speaker 4: I've never met a stripper. That I know of.
- 20:51Speaker 2: That you know of. I worked with one for a while.
- 20:55Speaker 2: We made a lot of.
- 20:56Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not judging.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I'm just saying I don't... I'm not either. I just...
- 20:58Speaker 2: I remember years ago, I sort of... Again, people probably
- 21:02Speaker 2: shouldn't tell these kinds of things, but... We found out
- 21:04Speaker 2: her other job, like she worked where I was part-time,
- 21:07Speaker 2: and then her other job was at the strip.
- 21:09Speaker 4: It was a dog.
- 21:12Speaker 2: It was a bicycle with a motor and a dog
- 21:15Speaker 2: in a cart that just went by.
- 21:16Speaker 4: A dog was spilling the berries.
- 21:18Speaker 2: That's also pretty fun. I gotta give him that. That
- 21:21Speaker 2: was cool. But yeah, so this girl was part-time where
- 21:25Speaker 2: I was at, but her other job, somebody decided to
- 21:28Speaker 2: spill the beans that she was a stripper, so... No judgment,
- 21:32Speaker 2: but we did make a lot of pole jokes. Because
- 21:35Speaker 2: at some point she injured her knee. I mean, come on.
- 21:39Speaker 2: How do we not make pole jokes when you banged
- 21:42Speaker 2: your knee and now she had like a brace on it?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Come on, man. It's just easy pickings.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Airport.
- 21:50Speaker 2: We are near the airport. So that was one of mine.
- 21:53Speaker 2: It was a comedy thing. I didn't hate the world
- 21:56Speaker 2: as much because that's the thing. Sometimes I'll be scrolling
- 21:59Speaker 2: through and my My usual feed is a lot of horror,
- 22:02Speaker 2: and sometimes I'm like, I am already in the darkness.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I don't need extra darkness. Is there something a little
- 22:07Speaker 2: more fun? A little more light? And this was both
- 22:09Speaker 2: of those things, so I enjoyed it.
- 22:12Speaker 4: I watched something that was funny, but I don't think
- 22:13Speaker 4: it was supposed to be funny.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I get a lot of that, too. What did we watch?
- 22:17Speaker 4: We watched Empire of the Dark. I think Boyfriend sent
- 22:19Speaker 4: you the trailer for it, maybe?
- 22:21Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I think he sent it beforehand, and he was going
- 22:24Speaker 2: to inflict it upon you that night. He did. I was, um...
- 22:29Speaker 2: I was impressed by its badness.
- 22:31Speaker 4: It was awful.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it looked pretty rough.
- 22:35Speaker 4: A lot of sword fighting going on. For the former cop,
- 22:40Speaker 4: sword fighting?
- 22:41Speaker 2: That's what we're going with? I might have estimated the
- 22:43Speaker 2: budget was $ 4.
- 22:43Speaker 4: I'm not even sure it was that high.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Where did this movie come from?
- 22:48Speaker 4: I have no idea. I didn't do any research into it.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Well, I mean, that's the thing. Anytime I see stuff
- 22:54Speaker 2: that I'm not already familiar with, because it's like I
- 22:56Speaker 2: have not watched plenty of things, but I'm at least familiar.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I know the title. I know the reputation of some
- 23:01Speaker 2: of these dorky things, but that one, I was just like,
- 23:04Speaker 2: where the hell did this come from, and how did
- 23:06Speaker 2: he find it?
- 23:07Speaker 4: From 91 because it looks like it's from like 76
- 23:09Speaker 4: well that's.
- 23:10Speaker 2: The thing like it looked dated when he sent me
- 23:12Speaker 2: that link so i was like i should have heard
- 23:14Speaker 2: of this like it looks like it's been around long
- 23:16Speaker 2: enough that i would know what this garbage is but it's.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Empire of the dark 1991 a private detective searching for
- 23:23Speaker 4: a killer comes across a satanic cult from another dimension
- 23:25Speaker 4: monsters called up from hell and murderous ninja assassins i
- 23:28Speaker 4: mean that.
- 23:29Speaker 2: All sounds awesome based on what i saw not so
- 23:33Speaker 2: awesome i mean that awesome but that's.
- 23:35Speaker 4: The same guy wrote direct and starred in this movie
- 23:38Speaker 4: why is.
- 23:38Speaker 2: That always the case like the worst most ridiculous things
- 23:42Speaker 2: are always like one guy that's got this idea and
- 23:46Speaker 2: he's gonna make it happen regardless yeah.
- 23:49Speaker 4: It was a lot it was i would i would
- 23:51Speaker 4: suggest it just so you could watch this guy try
- 23:53Speaker 4: to fight these bad guys wearing sweatpants and velcro shoes.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Were they monsters or just guys.
- 23:59Speaker 4: They were It looks like they borrowed the costumes of
- 24:02Speaker 4: the little demon-y guys from Phantasm a little bit.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Alright.
- 24:06Speaker 4: But then they were full-size, so you could see their
- 24:08Speaker 4: shoes underneath and their pants.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Why are you wearing sweatpants, monster? I'm telling you.
- 24:14Speaker 4: They were like ninjas.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Ninja monster.
- 24:16Speaker 4: And there was some stop-motion monsters.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I did see that. Again, that'll win me over every time.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Even bad stop-motion is more awesome than most things that
- 24:25Speaker 2: aren't stop-motion. So, I'll get suckered in with stop-motion.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Was a lot there was just a lot going on
- 24:31Speaker 4: he was a formal former police officer i guess because
- 24:34Speaker 4: he then he retired and it's like apparently there was
- 24:37Speaker 4: this hot chick who how she was in his league
- 24:40Speaker 4: i have no idea because they are just like miles
- 24:43Speaker 4: apart this guy let me tell you this guy he
- 24:46Speaker 4: should not have been pulling in the hot chicks He
- 24:49Speaker 4: was not. There was no.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Let me guess, that's also the guy who wrote the movie.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yes, obviously.
- 24:54Speaker 2: What a surprise.
- 24:54Speaker 4: I'm like, you made this movie just so you could
- 24:56Speaker 4: make out with this hot chick.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like that's like 90% of people
- 24:59Speaker 2: that made movies. If not, that's how they use it
- 25:04Speaker 2: to win in the dorky actors that aren't getting any
- 25:06Speaker 2: hot chicks. They're like, look, we wrote this scene where
- 25:08Speaker 2: you guys make out.
- 25:09Speaker 4: And then you could tell they wanted to show this
- 25:12Speaker 4: one bridge over and over again. That's where all the
- 25:16Speaker 4: budget went, was this one bridge. So even after it collapsed,
- 25:19Speaker 4: they kept going back and showing it again.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Uncollapsed. Production value!
- 25:23Speaker 4: And boyfriend's like, it's a different bridge. I'm like, no,
- 25:25Speaker 4: it's the same fucking bridge. You can see where it
- 25:27Speaker 4: wobbles right there. Was this a real world bridge that
- 25:31Speaker 4: fell down?
- 25:31Speaker 2: Or was this a special effect miniature?
- 25:33Speaker 4: A total special effect. They were on it at some point.
- 25:38Speaker 2: You need to watch. Again, me knowing the kind of
- 25:41Speaker 2: crap that I watched, yes, I probably should watch this.
- 25:43Speaker 2: You should watch. Yeah. Yeah. Let's see, what was my
- 25:48Speaker 2: other one?
- 25:49Speaker 4: The gun kept changing. He had a pistol, and then
- 25:51Speaker 4: he had a rifle, and then a pistol, and then
- 25:53Speaker 4: a rifle, and then his shirt was ripped. Not ripped, ripped,
- 25:56Speaker 4: not ripped, ripped, not ripped, ripped. I'm just like, come on, continuity!
- 25:59Speaker 2: So, continuity is where they spent most of their money.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Their person on set that was the continuity person was
- 26:07Speaker 2: on lunch most of the day.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Apparently, because I was calling. As we were watching, I'm like, ripped,
- 26:11Speaker 4: not ripped, ripped, not ripped.
- 26:13Speaker 2: He's like, shut up! Trying to watch this movie. It's
- 26:17Speaker 2: very detailed in its plot. Well, just today, I watched,
- 26:25Speaker 2: and again, I saw it come up. I think it
- 26:27Speaker 2: might have been there last week, and I went, that
- 26:28Speaker 2: looks interesting. And then today, I was like, alright, I
- 26:31Speaker 2: got enough time. I might be able to watch this.
- 26:33Speaker 2: And then I went, wait, are they going to make
- 26:35Speaker 2: me read? And I checked it, and no. So, I
- 26:39Speaker 2: then watched Demon City. Which is also on that thing
- 26:42Speaker 2: that you might want to watch before you cancel it. Actually,
- 26:44Speaker 2: Jay wouldn't. I don't know how much you care. But basically,
- 26:49Speaker 2: it's like you can see bits and pieces of all
- 26:52Speaker 2: of things now. Maybe just because I watch so much
- 26:54Speaker 2: crap that now nothing can be original because I just
- 26:56Speaker 2: see other things. But I'm like, had I never seen
- 27:00Speaker 2: John Wick? Or it's like, John Wick, you're thinking it's
- 27:04Speaker 2: going to go a little bit crow. Instead, it leans
- 27:06Speaker 2: kind of... Raven. Well, yeah. We saw a.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Model inside that was a guy in a black leathery
- 27:15Speaker 2: outfit with a white painted face, and he was the Raven.
- 27:19Speaker 4: He's very blatantly the Crow.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but for legal reasons, he's the Raven.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Nevermore.
- 27:24Speaker 2: So, this was not so much the Raven. It leaned
- 27:26Speaker 2: more towards, like, old boy. Then eventually, I'm like, this
- 27:30Speaker 2: is kind of Kill Bill Volume 1. Like, there's a
- 27:32Speaker 2: whole lot of other movies mixed in this. But basically,
- 27:36Speaker 2: it takes place in the Japans.
- 27:40Speaker 4: All kinds of crazy shit takes place in Japan.
- 27:42Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. That's kind of what won me over.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Because I'll watch anything just for aesthetics. I love the look,
- 27:47Speaker 2: the crazy shit that goes on in Japan. I'm always
- 27:49Speaker 2: a sucker for just watching Japan. So this is this
- 27:52Speaker 2: weird city in Japan. And this guy's a professional killer.
- 27:56Speaker 2: And he's trying to retire because he's got a wife.
- 27:58Speaker 2: He's got a little daughter. He wants to spend time
- 28:01Speaker 2: with them and get out of the business. So he
- 28:03Speaker 2: goes on this last hit, more or less. And then
- 28:05Speaker 2: goes home. And then the new dudes that show up
- 28:08Speaker 2: that are going to take over for who he just
- 28:10Speaker 2: murdered are just like, OK, we're here now. Thanks for
- 28:13Speaker 2: killing everybody. And we're going to kill you. So spoilers.
- 28:17Speaker 2: But this is the first thing in the movie. So
- 28:20Speaker 2: I know you're shocked. The family is going to get
- 28:23Speaker 2: killed and then he has to get revenge. This has
- 28:26Speaker 2: never happened in an action movie before. So the wife
- 28:28Speaker 2: gets fridged, as they say.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Is there a dog?
- 28:31Speaker 2: No, thankfully. No pets. See, I probably wouldn't have gone there.
- 28:34Speaker 2: If I would have seen a dog in the trailer,
- 28:36Speaker 2: I'd be like, nope, I'm out. Just a kid. Who
- 28:38Speaker 2: cares if it's a kid? Yeah, fuck that. Yeah, kids
- 28:40Speaker 2: I'm not worried about. So the wife gets offed. Kid,
- 28:44Speaker 2: dude shoots her through the doorway. And then they shoot
- 28:47Speaker 2: him in the head. Movie's over, right?
- 28:50Speaker 4: No.
- 28:50Speaker 2: No. Because somehow it just does. The brain's a weird thing.
- 28:54Speaker 2: We don't use like 90% of it. It's fine. So
- 28:56Speaker 2: it went through some stuff. And he's like basically a
- 28:59Speaker 2: vegetable for 12 years. They send him to like a
- 29:03Speaker 2: military prison or whatever they said. They send him to
- 29:05Speaker 2: some sort of weird hospital that he was at forever
- 29:08Speaker 2: and just sort of drools on himself and sits there.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Good times. And then they come to get him out
- 29:12Speaker 2: because I guess he gets paroled even though he's a vegetable.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I don't know how this works. But then they go
- 29:17Speaker 2: take him to some apartment thing and they start trying
- 29:18Speaker 2: to like clean him up. And like he starts sort
- 29:21Speaker 2: of coming out of it. And then one of the
- 29:23Speaker 2: dudes finds out he gets out and comes back to
- 29:25Speaker 2: kill him. And when he shows up to kill him,
- 29:27Speaker 2: he really starts to come out of it. But he's
- 29:29Speaker 2: almost zombie like. which is sort of cool. Basically, he's
- 29:33Speaker 2: a demon. Because there's some sort of theory that this
- 29:36Speaker 2: demon comes every 50 years or so in this town.
- 29:39Speaker 2: and like takes over somebody and they get revenge I
- 29:42Speaker 2: don't need to watch it now not at all like
- 29:43Speaker 2: the crow well again this is all the first like
- 29:45Speaker 2: 15 or 20 minutes like we haven't even gotten to
- 29:47Speaker 2: it yet so basically yeah this guy comes back and
- 29:50Speaker 2: he's kind of zombie like but he starts getting better
- 29:53Speaker 2: at his fighting skills and like he just yeah he
- 29:57Speaker 2: just goes on a rampage and beats the hell out
- 29:59Speaker 2: of people And goes to get revenge on all these
- 30:01Speaker 2: people that killed his family. And then there's an extra
- 30:03Speaker 2: twist I won't go into. But if you watch the trailer,
- 30:05Speaker 2: it's right in the fucking trailer. So, big twist. But, yeah. So, it's, yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 2: It's a whole lot of those things mixed together. But
- 30:13Speaker 2: I do like, he's just, he's all jacked up and
- 30:16Speaker 2: dragging himself around sometimes. And then he gets a little better.
- 30:20Speaker 2: And then he gets his ass beat by a whole
- 30:21Speaker 2: bunch of people. And then he still just keeps coming
- 30:23Speaker 2: and murders everybody. He kills a lot of people. John
- 30:26Speaker 2: Wick style. So.
- 30:28Speaker 4: With a pen?
- 30:29Speaker 2: Sometimes with a bit, maybe. There's a lot of random things.
- 30:32Speaker 2: He has a big, it's just like a blade with
- 30:35Speaker 2: a big curve. It's sort of like a hatchet type
- 30:37Speaker 2: thing or a cleaver, but it's like this big. It's
- 30:40Speaker 2: like a foot and a half long and it has
- 30:41Speaker 2: a point on it. That's his favorite. So he uses
- 30:44Speaker 2: that one for most of the jobs. But he'll use
- 30:46Speaker 2: anything around. He'll shoot people if he needs to. He'll
- 30:49Speaker 2: stab them.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Use a paper cutter.
- 30:53Speaker 2: We'll get to that later. But if he had one, yes,
- 30:57Speaker 2: he would totally use a paper cutter. So, it's a
- 31:00Speaker 2: whole lot of gore. It's a lot of beating people up. So,
- 31:04Speaker 2: I enjoyed it. Again, it's not changing your life, but
- 31:07Speaker 2: it's entertaining. And I like seeing people get beat up
- 31:11Speaker 2: and bloodied up and lose appendages and whatnot. So, that
- 31:15Speaker 2: was fun. I liked it. Not at all changing your life,
- 31:21Speaker 2: which is another thing I'll get to. So.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Are we ready to get into the movie?
- 31:25Speaker 2: Anything else before we get to the movie?
- 31:28Speaker 4: Nope, I think I'm ready to get into this shit.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Alright, let's do it.
- 31:33Speaker 3: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Coming to you live from Shadyside High.
- 31:41Speaker 6: Only two days to go until senior prom and anything
- 31:44Speaker 6: could happen.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Gotcha.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Megan Rogers, principal's office right now. Miss Granger, this is
- 32:03Speaker 2: your time to shine. This is the new Shadyside, the
- 32:07Speaker 2: promise of a bright future. This is your chance to
- 32:10Speaker 2: fulfill that promise.
- 32:11Speaker 4: I'm trying to win prom queen, but I am never
- 32:13Speaker 4: going to find a prom dress.
- 32:14Speaker 8: You're so going to win prom queen.
- 32:16Speaker 4: You better believe I am.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Welcome, class of 88, to your senior prom!
- 32:21Speaker 4: Hi.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Hi. If you make a fool of me, this will
- 32:24Speaker 2: be the end of you.
- 32:28Speaker 4: It's Shadyside.
- 32:31Speaker 6: When's it all going to go wrong? I just saw
- 32:45Speaker 6: something in the hallway.
- 32:51Speaker 3: You'll never be prom queen.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!
- 32:58Speaker 2: Megan, go!
- 32:59Speaker 4: They know how it sounds. A whole bunch of people
- 33:01Speaker 4: have disappeared.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Where are all the prom queens?
- 33:05Speaker 2: We're trapped!
- 33:10Speaker 4: How do we get out of here?
- 33:12Speaker 2: Wowzers.
- 33:12Speaker 4: This is a very special night and someone is ruining.
- 33:18Speaker 6: It!
- 33:18Speaker 4: Put the music back on.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I'm gonna cut the bitch that did this.
- 33:24Speaker 2: You having a good night?
- 33:31Speaker 1: It's the end, it's the end of prom night.
- 33:41Speaker 2: It's the end, it's the end, it's the end.
- 33:44Speaker 1: You're not gonna be the homecoming queen today.
- 34:00Speaker 2: So, now we've moved into the special Super Deluxe Horror
- 34:03Speaker 2: Club feature. Because we normally have a whole different feed
- 34:06Speaker 2: for the Horror Club. But this, brought to you by Wonderfest.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Because we got here and we were like... Actually, we
- 34:11Speaker 2: planned on coming and we were like... What the hell
- 34:13Speaker 2: are we going to talk about? We never... We don't
- 34:15Speaker 2: watch anything other than those things we already talked about. So,
- 34:17Speaker 2: what the hell are we going to talk about? I
- 34:18Speaker 2: was like.
- 34:19Speaker 4: Are we going to talk about George Romero? And how.
- 34:21Speaker 2: No. We made it through the whole opening and didn't
- 34:25Speaker 2: talk about either wedding. Last year, I had a wedding.
- 34:28Speaker 4: We.
- 34:30Speaker 2: had a whole every year George Romero made it through
- 34:34Speaker 2: the whole intro without it now look what you've done
- 34:37Speaker 2: so no we don't have to talk about any of
- 34:40Speaker 2: that so instead I was like wait a minute I'm
- 34:43Speaker 2: gonna watch this movie I already saw online you complaining
- 34:47Speaker 2: about this movie so I'm assuming you watched it so
- 34:49Speaker 2: I was like let's just bust it out because we
- 34:52Speaker 2: already did the triology now we can round out the
- 34:55Speaker 2: quadrology if you believe Fox that that's the thing that
- 34:57Speaker 2: they interned The Aliens Quadrology.
- 35:02Speaker 4: What?
- 35:03Speaker 2: At the time, they had four alien movies, so the
- 35:06Speaker 2: box set was the Alien Quadrology.
- 35:09Speaker 4: What's that? What's next? Five? What's five?
- 35:11Speaker 2: Quintology? Sextology? How many did we get to?
- 35:16Speaker 4: That's a whole different thing. Oh. Seven? Octology for eight?
- 35:20Speaker 2: Octology sounds pretty cool. So, anyway, we had already done
- 35:26Speaker 2: the whole first run of the first three. And I
- 35:28Speaker 2: was like, well, we're going to be here. We might
- 35:31Speaker 2: as well talk about the next one. Let's go ahead
- 35:33Speaker 2: and get this going. So we are back with this
- 35:36Speaker 2: super special horror club sofa theater feature that is Fear
- 35:39Speaker 2: Street colon prom queen. Oh, Lord. The year is 2025.
- 35:45Speaker 2: The director is Matt Palmer. And the plot, according to IMDb,
- 35:51Speaker 2: When the It Girls competing for prom queen at Shadyside
- 35:54Speaker 2: High start to disappear, a gutsy outsider discovers she's in
- 35:58Speaker 2: for one hell of a prom night.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Spoiler alert.
- 36:02Speaker 2: We're going to ruin the hell out of this movie.
- 36:05Speaker 2: She's going to ruin it so much you don't even know.
- 36:07Speaker 4: We're going to ruin this like they've tried to ruin
- 36:09Speaker 4: the entire name of this book series.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Spoilers on her feelings toward this movie and also the
- 36:15Speaker 2: movie from here on out.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I got big feelings.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Go watch this movie if you also scammed this special
- 36:21Speaker 2: streaming thing that we're not naming that we've named six
- 36:23Speaker 2: times so you could watch this movie and then cancel it.
- 36:25Speaker 2: It's not worth it.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Just listen to what I say.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Always listen to what you say.
- 36:30Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 36:30Speaker 2: That's what you keep telling Jay. I know.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Does he ever listen?
- 36:33Speaker 2: Hell no.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Seriously, if I had a nickel, I'd be my own
- 36:39Speaker 4: sugar daddy at this point.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I thought you meant the other way. If I had
- 36:42Speaker 2: a nickel every time you listen to me. I'd have
- 36:45Speaker 2: a nickel.
- 36:45Speaker 4: If I had a nickel for every time I told
- 36:47Speaker 4: him to listen to me and he didn't.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Oh, well. You'd be rich. I know. You'd be buying
- 36:51Speaker 2: this bowling alley over here.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Why can't I? Charge people to park there.
- 36:54Speaker 2: That sounds like a good point.
- 36:55Speaker 4: All right.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Plus, bowling alley. He doesn't want to hang out in
- 36:57Speaker 2: the bowling alley. I don't want to have to bowl,
- 36:59Speaker 2: but I'd hang out there all day.
- 37:00Speaker 4: The shoes.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Eat nachos and shit. The shoes. Free shoes.
- 37:05Speaker 4: No, not free. They're just fancy.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Not if you don't take them back.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Oh, man. lose your original shoes.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but you buy really crappy shoes and then you
- 37:13Speaker 2: go there and you get fancy shoes. And it'll say
- 37:16Speaker 2: a number on the back. You'll be super cool if
- 37:18Speaker 2: it's got like a 12 on the back.
- 37:20Speaker 4: You'll be like, damn, look at it.
- 37:24Speaker 2: People will be calling you out from across the room.
- 37:27Speaker 2: They'll be like, look at her feet. Damn.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Clown shoes?
- 37:31Speaker 2: That's what guys are looking for. Girls with big feet.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Clown feet. Oh my god.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Speaking of clowns, where would you like to begin on
- 37:41Speaker 2: Prom Queen?
- 37:42Speaker 4: I don't know if I should just start randomly, because
- 37:44Speaker 4: I have my post-it that I got from the Caretenders
- 37:47Speaker 4: Excellence through Senior Advocacy, which I figure would make me
- 37:50Speaker 4: sound even older than I already am.
- 37:52Speaker 2: This is your retiree paper post-it notes?
- 37:56Speaker 4: Yes, from my free health fair.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I don't know if I should start in order or
- 38:00Speaker 2: where I was thinking. We start with the bloody crown.
- 38:03Speaker 2: That's our entry point into the movie.
- 38:05Speaker 4: I was okay with that part. Yeah. That part was
- 38:07Speaker 4: pretty cool. See, mine were afterthoughts. They weren't like while
- 38:11Speaker 4: I was watching the movie.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I was trying to at least give us a basic
- 38:14Speaker 2: beat by beat if we want to hit anything specific,
- 38:16Speaker 2: but we can also overview it.
- 38:18Speaker 4: Okay, specifically, I want to start with how the fuck
- 38:20Speaker 4: is she a prom candidate?
- 38:22Speaker 2: Because she's the outsider.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Did she just decide to be a prom queen candidate?
- 38:27Speaker 3: No.
- 38:28Speaker 4: I thought you had to be elected.
- 38:29Speaker 2: The sad thing is, I don't know how proms work.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Me neither. I didn't go to a prom.
- 38:32Speaker 2: I'm not really involved in proms, neither back in the day,
- 38:36Speaker 2: nor now.
- 38:36Speaker 4: But I'm pretty sure you couldn't just be like, hey,
- 38:38Speaker 4: you know what? I want to be a prom queen candidate.
- 38:39Speaker 2: I assumed you had to get voted down to like,
- 38:42Speaker 2: they do an overall vote to get it down to
- 38:44Speaker 2: five or six or whatever their number is. And then
- 38:47Speaker 2: from there, you vote again and pick the queen. I
- 38:50Speaker 2: don't know how it works.
- 38:50Speaker 4: How is the outcast girl just all of a sudden,
- 38:53Speaker 4: I'm just, She's just, because we don't get any intro
- 38:56Speaker 4: into it. She's just, hey, there's the list. There she is.
- 38:58Speaker 2: She is cute. I'll give her that. Whatever. Let's see.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I had the cast. India Fowler?
- 39:04Speaker 4: She's cute.
- 39:05Speaker 2: She's cute. And she kind of, I spent most of
- 39:07Speaker 2: my time going, did that girl that used to be
- 39:10Speaker 2: on Growing Pains grow up and have a daughter?
- 39:12Speaker 4: Tracy Gold?
- 39:13Speaker 2: Not Tracy Gold. The young, the annoying one. You know,
- 39:16Speaker 2: in every series when they decide these old kids are lame,
- 39:19Speaker 2: we got to have a baby.
- 39:20Speaker 4: I don't remember.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Which happens in every sitcom. Take your pick. They all
- 39:25Speaker 2: do it.
- 39:25Speaker 4: I don't remember that one, then. I might be getting
- 39:27Speaker 4: the wrong shows.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Tracy Gold's on there. Not Missy Gold. She was on Benson.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Is it sad that I know these things?
- 39:34Speaker 4: A little bit.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Ashley Johnson. Now, because I was going to bring up
- 39:39Speaker 2: a picture. Doesn't that kind of, like is that not her?
- 39:42Speaker 2: Except India's got a cooler face because she doesn't have
- 39:45Speaker 2: this chin. She's got a weird chin going on. But
- 39:48Speaker 2: other than that, she grew up to be really attractive.
- 39:51Speaker 2: When she was a kid, she was that creepy looking kid.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Let me find. You'll be so creeped out. Let me
- 39:55Speaker 2: find her as a kid. You'll be like, ooh, gross. Kids.
- 39:58Speaker 4: That's me in general with kids. It's not going to
- 39:59Speaker 4: be like any different than any other kid.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Ooh, gross.
- 40:02Speaker 4: Ooh, gross.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Kid with curly hair.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Gross.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Nobody likes kids. But she grew up and she got
- 40:06Speaker 2: to be somewhat cute. But turns out, Indy is cuter.
- 40:10Speaker 2: But also, not related. I sat through the whole movie going,
- 40:12Speaker 2: she looks so much like her. That has to, she
- 40:15Speaker 2: has to at least be her daughter, right? She's old
- 40:17Speaker 2: enough now to have a grown daughter. It could be her. Yeah,
- 40:19Speaker 2: I looked it up. Not her. I don't know. Totally
- 40:21Speaker 2: different person. But she looks kind of like her.
- 40:23Speaker 4: But yeah, how did she just automatically become on the
- 40:26Speaker 4: prom queen candidate list? That doesn't seem practical.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Convenience? Plot?
- 40:32Speaker 4: Yeah. At least in the book. I don't know why
- 40:35Speaker 4: they're calling it like it's after the book. Because there's no...
- 40:39Speaker 4: There's a prom queen.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I guess.
- 40:41Speaker 4: That's about the extent of the tie between.
- 40:44Speaker 2: guess in case you weren't listening to the original trilogy. Specifically,
- 40:50Speaker 2: we've done this with you because you're the aficionado of
- 40:53Speaker 2: Fear Street. You're a nerd who reads books first and foremost,
- 40:57Speaker 2: but you have let's say a couple of Fear Street books.
- 41:00Speaker 4: I have them all.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I have every Fear Street book there is. I figured
- 41:03Speaker 2: you would argue with me on that one. Just a
- 41:05Speaker 2: few Fear Street books.
- 41:06Speaker 4: I got them all. Even the hard to find ones.
- 41:09Speaker 2: People, imagine a shelf full of books. They're all Fear Street.
- 41:14Speaker 4: That's what I got. She's got a lot of Fear Street.
- 41:17Speaker 4: I have all the Fear Street. There's no Fear Street
- 41:20Speaker 4: that I don't have.
- 41:21Speaker 2: So we specifically, last time, even went in because you
- 41:24Speaker 2: were going to be the one that would know about
- 41:26Speaker 2: Fear Street and you could do the connection between the
- 41:28Speaker 2: book or not between the book or whatever. So this time,
- 41:32Speaker 2: just so you know.
- 41:33Speaker 4: There's no connection. There's prom queens.
- 41:36Speaker 2: That's why she's extra annoyed. And I kind of knew
- 41:40Speaker 2: that because I'm pretty sure last time I also had
- 41:43Speaker 2: the same stance of, Yeah, I don't read things. What
- 41:45Speaker 2: do I care? So I don't have the attachment.
- 41:47Speaker 4: To the books. But at least with the trilogy, there
- 41:49Speaker 4: wasn't really, like, specific set of, like, this is this book,
- 41:52Speaker 4: this is this book. It's not like Fear Street, you know.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they just picked years and did their own weird thing,
- 41:58Speaker 2: which I kind of appreciate it on its own way.
- 42:01Speaker 4: But why not? If you're going to do Fear Street
- 42:04Speaker 4: Prom Queen, at least somewhat follow the book. Because otherwise,
- 42:08Speaker 4: you're going to end up with the people like me
- 42:10Speaker 4: who are like, what the fuck is this shit? This
- 42:12Speaker 4: is not the book, even if in the slightest.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Just to jump ahead to the notes, just because I
- 42:17Speaker 2: knew this would annoy you more, the executive producer, Lee,
- 42:21Speaker 2: I won't mess up her last name, Lee, executive producer,
- 42:25Speaker 2: revealed that she wanted the fourth installment to take place
- 42:28Speaker 2: in the 1950s and center around Harry Rooker, the milkman
- 42:32Speaker 2: from the previous trilogy. But plans changed because it was
- 42:36Speaker 2: decided that the film would be more directly based on
- 42:38Speaker 2: the Fear Street book series. But it's not! I knew
- 42:42Speaker 2: you would love that. But it's not! I wrote it
- 42:45Speaker 2: down specifically for that reason. So, would it have been
- 42:49Speaker 2: better had we had a Milkman story? Because it wasn't...
- 42:52Speaker 2: Was the Milkman part of the old series?
- 42:54Speaker 4: No.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Okay, so they could have done their own thing and
- 42:56Speaker 2: then it wouldn't... None.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Of the killers from the trilogy are from any of
- 42:59Speaker 4: the books.
- 43:00Speaker 2: So that wouldn't have pissed you off as much.
- 43:02Speaker 4: As long as you didn't call it fucking Prom Queen.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Prom Night, starring the Milkman.
- 43:07Speaker 4: No, just like, Fear Street, this other story. Don't make
- 43:12Speaker 4: it a specific... book you know what i mean because
- 43:16Speaker 4: it's not gonna fucking work again in theory i do
- 43:19Speaker 4: now i know they make books into movies all the
- 43:22Speaker 4: time and half the time they don't do what it.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Says in the book so i feel like that's the
- 43:26Speaker 2: thing with book reading people all the time they always
- 43:29Speaker 2: want to go this the book's better because of this
- 43:31Speaker 2: and i'm like i don't care i'm not gonna read
- 43:32Speaker 2: it anyway so i feel like they should just not
- 43:35Speaker 2: like false advertise it exactly that's the issue so do
- 43:38Speaker 2: i care if it sticks to the book personally no
- 43:40Speaker 2: because i didn't read it But, do I think they
- 43:44Speaker 2: should just do their own thing? I do like that
- 43:46Speaker 2: there's a series, though. I like the idea. Like, I'm
- 43:49Speaker 2: looking at my streaming thing, and I'm like, four of
- 43:52Speaker 2: them in a row are Fear Street, Fear Street. And
- 43:53Speaker 2: I was like, this is cool. I want them to
- 43:55Speaker 2: keep doing this. I want to have more of this
- 43:58Speaker 2: type of thing, where they've created their own weird little universe.
- 44:01Speaker 2: They're telling these stories.
- 44:03Speaker 4: What's up to the one I addressed about this universe?
- 44:06Speaker 4: Is Fear Street mentioned in this fucking movie?
- 44:08Speaker 7: Uh no talk about shady town or whatever it is
- 44:11Speaker 7: shady side but do they ever fucking mention fear street
- 44:14Speaker 7: i mean no did they live on fear street first
- 44:16Speaker 7: of all because how is this popular rich girl living
- 44:20Speaker 7: directly across the street from the poor i thought she
- 44:22Speaker 7: was from the wrong side of the tracks originally because
- 44:25Speaker 7: that's what she said about.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Her mom was her mom was from the wrong side
- 44:27Speaker 2: of the track so how did she end up living
- 44:30Speaker 2: across the street from the super rich girl She's a cop, right?
- 44:33Speaker 2: They don't make money. Exactly. That's why cops are always
- 44:36Speaker 2: on the take because they pay them crap.
- 44:37Speaker 4: Do they live on Fear Street? Because it's never fucking mentioned.
- 44:42Speaker 4: There's no Fear Street. Do they live there?
- 44:44Speaker 2: Do they work there?
- 44:45Speaker 4: Is the diner there? Is the thrift shop that they
- 44:47Speaker 4: buy their fucking dresses at no Fear Street? We don't
- 44:49Speaker 4: fucking know because they never mentioned Fear Street. The only
- 44:52Speaker 4: reference to Fear Street in the entire fucking thing is
- 44:55Speaker 4: that they have Sarah Fear's name written on the bathroom wall.
- 44:58Speaker 4: That is not a real fucking reference right there. Ugh!
- 45:02Speaker 4: Fear Street.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Didn't they live on Fear Street in the trilogy, and
- 45:05Speaker 2: you also didn't like.
- 45:08Speaker 4: That? Well, they had, like, Fear, but it was spelled different,
- 45:10Speaker 4: I think. It was Fear, because it's Fear Families, F-I-E-R, whatever.
- 45:14Speaker 4: I don't remember having a problem with that, but they
- 45:15Speaker 4: did show the.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I feel like you had a problem with a lot
- 45:17Speaker 2: of things.
- 45:17Speaker 4: I had a problem with the map. The map didn't
- 45:19Speaker 4: match the map that I have. So, what the fuck?
- 45:22Speaker 2: It's a poster on the wall, isn't it?
- 45:24Speaker 4: Maybe. But, uh, they didn't mention Fear Street. And Fear
- 45:29Speaker 4: Street is... Always in the book, there is some reference,
- 45:33Speaker 4: at least a reference, even if it's not taking place
- 45:35Speaker 4: directly on Fear Street, that somebody doesn't live there, which,
- 45:37Speaker 4: how many fucking people can live on Fear Street? Apparently
- 45:40Speaker 4: a lot, because everybody knows somebody who lives on Fear Street.
- 45:44Speaker 4: I will say it is.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Weird that now that you're mentioning it, that she lives
- 45:48Speaker 2: across the street from the super rich family. It doesn't
- 45:52Speaker 2: really make any sense, since we know she has no dad,
- 45:55Speaker 2: her mom's a cop, like she shouldn't be living in
- 45:57Speaker 2: a super fancy house, but the other side of the
- 45:59Speaker 2: street That is definitely a super fancy house because we
- 46:02Speaker 2: end up in there later, so. Yeah, that's a little weird.
- 46:06Speaker 2: I'll give you that one.
- 46:07Speaker 4: They don't live. What?
- 46:10Speaker 2: Why?
- 46:10Speaker 3: No.
- 46:10Speaker 4: Boyfriend tried to break it down for me. He's like, well,
- 46:14Speaker 4: they have these older houses. They sometimes break them into
- 46:16Speaker 4: smaller apartments. Like they do on like.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Could be.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Mansion Row in New Albany. They have these places. Like
- 46:22Speaker 4: big fancy houses that. And they'd get broken down into apartments.
- 46:26Speaker 2: That's a lot of the weird Highland stuff. They used
- 46:28Speaker 2: to be really big, nice houses, and now nobody takes
- 46:30Speaker 2: care of them, but we've broken it into four apartments.
- 46:32Speaker 4: So that was Boyfriend's explanation, was that maybe this house
- 46:35Speaker 4: over here still has the entire fanciness. They can afford
- 46:37Speaker 4: the entire house. They can only afford a quarter of
- 46:39Speaker 4: the house over here. So whatever.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Sometimes that happens. He's very logical, that Boyfriend of yours. Oh, no.
- 46:45Speaker 4: I had to explain. I had to tell him this
- 46:47Speaker 4: movie took place in the 80s. If I have to
- 46:50Speaker 4: tell somebody that this movie is taking place in the 80s,
- 46:53Speaker 4: then you are not doing the 80s correctly.
- 46:55Speaker 2: I mean, if they're not on their phones all day long,
- 46:58Speaker 2: shouldn't you know right there? Like, that should be a
- 47:00Speaker 2: dead giveaway. What kid isn't on their phone all the time?
- 47:03Speaker 4: None of these chicks look like the 80s.
- 47:05Speaker 2: None of them. I mean... No. Melissa had kind of
- 47:09Speaker 2: big hair, but that's just because it was curly.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Which one was she?
- 47:12Speaker 2: The cute one. I thought she was cute. I like Melissa.
- 47:15Speaker 2: She's the one that had the change of heart that
- 47:16Speaker 2: wasn't a jerk.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I kind of liked her.
- 47:18Speaker 4: Except for her name was Melissa.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not good. But otherwise, she was cute. I
- 47:22Speaker 2: liked her. And I was like, hmm, she's probably still
- 47:24Speaker 2: going to die. Oh, yeah. And then like a minute later,
- 47:26Speaker 2: she got an accident. But, or a cleaver of some sort. Yep.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Also kind of like that demon city. It was one
- 47:31Speaker 2: of those big cleaver things.
- 47:33Speaker 3: Yep.
- 47:33Speaker 2: So, yeah. Let's see. Where were we after that?
- 47:39Speaker 4: Fuck.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Fuck, fuck, fuck.
- 47:42Speaker 4: It's like, okay, I read the books. There's never been
- 47:47Speaker 4: so much amount of profanity. I was also a child
- 47:49Speaker 4: in the 80s. And we did not cuss as much.
- 47:51Speaker 4: It just seemed like it was so fucking forced. I mean,
- 47:54Speaker 4: I cuss now. I cuss more than a fucking sailor.
- 47:55Speaker 2: You do cuss a lot. But.
- 47:57Speaker 4: But mine fits.
- 47:58Speaker 2: I will say, I remember us commenting about that on
- 48:02Speaker 2: the trilogy, the original run. And then in this one, too,
- 48:05Speaker 2: I was like, it's weird. It's almost like they're making
- 48:07Speaker 2: up for her. Because they're not... Like, for being a
- 48:11Speaker 2: throwback 80s slasher movie, they're not going the, and girls
- 48:15Speaker 2: are going to get naked every five minutes. So it's
- 48:17Speaker 2: like they're not fully committing at that point, so they're like, well,
- 48:19Speaker 2: we got to make up for it.
- 48:20Speaker 4: We have to earn that R rating.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we got to be, everybody's got to say fuck
- 48:25Speaker 2: for no good reason. The guy delivering flowers, fuck if
- 48:28Speaker 2: I know. I was like, it was just like random sometimes.
- 48:31Speaker 2: I was like, okay, again, I'm okay with profanity, but
- 48:34Speaker 2: you got to work it in right, dude. It's not forced.
- 48:36Speaker 4: It felt like we were going to earn that R rating.
- 48:38Speaker 2: I think that's what it was. It's like, we don't
- 48:40Speaker 2: want to make these poor girls get naked, so instead
- 48:42Speaker 2: we're just going to say fuck a lot.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Fucking shit. Oh my god. If you notice, that's the
- 48:47Speaker 4: first thing. I'm like, fuck shit. And it was just like,
- 48:51Speaker 4: it was... Oh my god, dude. It was just, it
- 48:55Speaker 4: felt forced and unnecessary.
- 48:57Speaker 2: I did notice that, I will say. As someone who
- 49:00Speaker 2: isn't as annoyed by most of the other things as
- 49:03Speaker 2: you are, I still notice that. So, I did notice.
- 49:07Speaker 2: I think that was kind of, and that was my reasoning.
- 49:09Speaker 2: It was like, I feel like they're trying to get
- 49:10Speaker 2: their cred. Like, they want to be like, we're not
- 49:13Speaker 2: for dumb kids. We say fuck a lot.
- 49:15Speaker 4: A lot.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Yeah, okay. And there's gore, I'll give you.
- 49:19Speaker 4: I'm okay with the gore.
- 49:20Speaker 2: And all i'm okay to do it's fear street but
- 49:22Speaker 2: i feel like that's the other one it's like they
- 49:24Speaker 2: can't do those all three i don't know why like
- 49:27Speaker 2: i don't know if netflix just doesn't want to get
- 49:29Speaker 2: into hardcore nudity or what but like.
- 49:31Speaker 8: Or their kids because i can't remember well but that's
- 49:34Speaker 8: never stopped the 80s movies like The kids playing them,
- 49:39Speaker 8: usually they're 25 anyway, so they just have the 25-year-olds
- 49:42Speaker 8: play 16-year-olds and get naked.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Who cares? So, that's how producers roll, I hate to
- 49:47Speaker 2: tell you. Actually, they probably don't care if they're 18.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Now they do, in the post-MeToo world, but back in
- 49:53Speaker 2: the day, I bet they didn't give a shit. So.
- 49:58Speaker 4: Why do we have to change the mascot so often?
- 50:02Speaker 4: In the books, it was a Shadyside Tigers. Shadyside Tigers
- 50:05Speaker 4: in every fucking book. In the one from the 90s,
- 50:10Speaker 4: it was Shadyside fucking witches. Okay. And then it was
- 50:15Speaker 4: the Shadyside wolves.
- 50:17Speaker 2: What the fuck are you talking about?
- 50:18Speaker 4: I went to New Albany High School my entire fucking
- 50:21Speaker 4: high school career. It's been the bulldogs from beginning to
- 50:24Speaker 4: end as far as I know.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Why? I mean, especially when they're all those that are... Well,
- 50:28Speaker 2: the witches is questionable. But they're all normal. If they're animals,
- 50:32Speaker 2: there's not really a reason. When they get into weird...
- 50:34Speaker 2: people versions of stuff that's why people have changed over
- 50:38Speaker 2: the years but other than that like when does somebody
- 50:40Speaker 2: change a mascot like i don't know of any high
- 50:42Speaker 2: schools that unless it was an offensive terminology which yes
- 50:48Speaker 2: i there's one that i used to live across from
- 50:50Speaker 2: that now is a different thing but it's.
- 50:52Speaker 4: A bird now shady side tigers it's not that fucking complicated.
- 50:57Speaker 2: So they shouldn't change it from tigers or if it
- 51:00Speaker 2: was originally wolves you can get away with wolves Witches,
- 51:03Speaker 2: I feel like, is going to rub people the wrong way.
- 51:05Speaker 4: They were just leaning too heavy into the, we're going
- 51:07Speaker 4: to make this movie about Sarah Fier. It's going to
- 51:09Speaker 4: have witches. Let's see. What's next on my list? Again,
- 51:16Speaker 4: not enough Aquanet. The entire prom, if we're already at
- 51:18Speaker 4: the prom, just in general, there might have been some
- 51:21Speaker 4: background characters who had the 80s hair. I was, at 88,
- 51:24Speaker 4: I was 8. in 88 I was 8 years old
- 51:27Speaker 4: so I did not go I was not full on
- 51:30Speaker 4: hair you wished you had that hair I was never
- 51:31Speaker 4: that cool I was fucking rowdy I do have a
- 51:33Speaker 4: picture of me that my aunt I don't know if
- 51:35Speaker 4: you ever you probably saw it it was probably in
- 51:36Speaker 4: that collage that my grandma gave you probably well my
- 51:39Speaker 4: hair was like curled and teased and like big and
- 51:42Speaker 4: I was like 7 or 8 so it might have
- 51:45Speaker 4: been around the same time this movie would have been
- 51:46Speaker 4: taking place my hair was bigger than any of these
- 51:49Speaker 4: people's hair in this entire fucking movie and I was
- 51:51Speaker 4: like this is not no and.
- 51:55Speaker 2: You just got back from the mall There was no
- 51:57Speaker 2: mall in this movie.
- 51:58Speaker 4: There was a thrift store.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Well, we had that in the original one because we
- 52:02Speaker 2: had the mall in two out of three of those.
- 52:04Speaker 4: I love the mall.
- 52:05Speaker 2: I like that part. That was one of my favorite things.
- 52:08Speaker 2: We get VHS footage here, though. That's how we know
- 52:11Speaker 2: it's dated because we're watching. Again, they're kind of ahead
- 52:14Speaker 2: of the curve because really, at least in my cheap
- 52:17Speaker 2: ass school, we didn't have any of that stuff back then.
- 52:20Speaker 2: We were lucky. We didn't have any of that. When
- 52:23Speaker 2: I think back, they had some photographers that would take
- 52:26Speaker 2: still photos for the newspaper that they still barely put
- 52:31Speaker 2: out like yeah so we were we were poor and
- 52:34Speaker 2: having that fancy stuff so the fact that they were
- 52:36Speaker 2: already doing like vhs news footage that they were i
- 52:40Speaker 2: guess editing and showing on the rolly cart tv they
- 52:43Speaker 2: brought in like i don't know what else like now
- 52:45Speaker 2: they stream their stuff that they shoot with kids all
- 52:48Speaker 2: the time like i know a kid that's in the
- 52:50Speaker 2: media club now that goes there for a weekly meeting
- 52:53Speaker 2: and they edit together footage of kids and Yeah, I
- 52:57Speaker 2: don't know. We didn't have that crap when I was
- 52:58Speaker 2: a kid. But here, they're ahead of the curve. They're
- 53:00Speaker 2: doing it on the VHS. So, we get grainy VHS footage,
- 53:03Speaker 2: which I do kind of like.
- 53:05Speaker 4: Red herrings. Everybody was a fucking red herring.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Everyone's a suspect.
- 53:10Speaker 4: I thought everybody did it until the person that I
- 53:12Speaker 4: had no fucking clue, which, spoiler alert, I didn't even
- 53:16Speaker 4: realize that was Chris Klein until halfway through the fucking movie.
- 53:18Speaker 2: It wasn't just me, because I didn't realize that until
- 53:21Speaker 2: today when I was writing shit down. I even saw
- 53:24Speaker 2: his name in the credits and went, oh yeah and
- 53:26Speaker 2: then I forgot all about it and didn't think who
- 53:29Speaker 2: it was and then got like the whole movie I
- 53:32Speaker 2: watched it that dude like no offense when I look
- 53:34Speaker 2: at him now I'm like okay I see his face
- 53:36Speaker 2: there he is but like he's so different than old
- 53:39Speaker 2: timey Klein dude that I was just like oh yeah.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Halfway through I'm like I fuck is that is that
- 53:44Speaker 4: Chris Klein it can't be Chris I looked up I'm
- 53:46Speaker 4: like it's Chris Klein what the fuck happened to him
- 53:49Speaker 4: he turned into an old dad it's weird he did
- 53:51Speaker 4: and not a hot old dad either.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Yeah a nerdy dad, but he's supposed to be playing
- 53:56Speaker 2: a nerdy dad, so it's fine.
- 53:57Speaker 4: Yeah, dude. But yeah, everybody was a red herring in
- 54:01Speaker 4: this fucking... Everybody. I was like, oh, I bet it's
- 54:04Speaker 4: this person. Oh, I bet... No, it's this person.
- 54:06Speaker 2: Well, again, by the end, I came up with several
- 54:08Speaker 2: alternate endings that I kind of liked better, which sometimes
- 54:12Speaker 2: I do that. I know people are... sometimes, you know,
- 54:15Speaker 2: you're supposed to discuss and review the movie that you watched,
- 54:19Speaker 2: not what you wanted to see. Fuck that. Sometimes I'm like,
- 54:21Speaker 2: I came up with a better plan. Here's what you
- 54:23Speaker 2: should have done. So I like talking about those things.
- 54:25Speaker 2: We can get to those endings later.
- 54:27Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll do that later. The dance-off was fucking retarded.
- 54:29Speaker 2: A motherfucking dance-off!
- 54:32Speaker 4: That was fucking stupid. You can cut out me saying
- 54:34Speaker 4: the R-word if you want, because I know it's not PC.
- 54:36Speaker 4: But if we're going back to the 80s, you know what?
- 54:38Speaker 4: It was fucking retarded. Because I would have said that
- 54:40Speaker 4: in the 80s, so it is legit.
- 54:41Speaker 2: It's true. It is very timely that Everyone sort of
- 54:44Speaker 2: used that at the time.
- 54:45Speaker 4: It was dumb beyond words. And I don't mean that
- 54:49Speaker 4: as an insult to people who would be considered slow.
- 54:51Speaker 4: I mean, it was fucking stupid.
- 54:53Speaker 2: That is an actual word. We just gave it the
- 54:56Speaker 2: bad stigma over the years. It's a word that means
- 54:59Speaker 2: the thing that we're using. Well, I mean, not right.
- 55:03Speaker 2: It's not the way it's supposed to be in the
- 55:06Speaker 2: scientific version of the term. There are many other things
- 55:08Speaker 2: that you can use that term towards. We just took
- 55:11Speaker 2: it in the wrong direction post- you know, after the eighties,
- 55:14Speaker 2: mid nineties, we started going, yeah, you're not supposed to
- 55:16Speaker 2: say that. Yeah. So, but anyways, we're doing an eighties thing.
- 55:19Speaker 2: It's fine. Whatever.
- 55:21Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 55:21Speaker 2: You guys have heard the word before.
- 55:22Speaker 4: Am I going to get hate mail?
- 55:23Speaker 2: You know how it was used before. It's fine.
- 55:26Speaker 4: I'm just going back in time. I'm trying to be
- 55:27Speaker 4: more like authentic with the eighties. But anyway, that was,
- 55:31Speaker 4: I'm just like, what, what, why was this?
- 55:33Speaker 2: What? First of all, DJ guy's like 40, right?
- 55:36Speaker 4: Dude, seriously.
- 55:37Speaker 2: He came up. I thought he was a teacher. And
- 55:40Speaker 2: then later I was like, Oh, he's supposed to be
- 55:41Speaker 2: a student. that kid looks old. I mean, not that
- 55:45Speaker 2: all of them are 25, but still.
- 55:46Speaker 4: Boyfriend will tell you that half the people he went
- 55:48Speaker 4: to high school with had fucking full-grown mustaches and beards, so.
- 55:52Speaker 2: He did say the dude that was picking on him
- 55:54Speaker 2: was the fourth-year senior.
- 55:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:56Speaker 2: So, some of them might have just been really dumb.
- 55:59Speaker 4: Okay, back to the prom. Okay, the dude with the scrunchie.
- 56:03Speaker 4: No dudes in the 80s had a fucking scrunchie.
- 56:06Speaker 2: Well, even if you did. No. Pink?
- 56:10Speaker 4: Well, it matched his outfit.
- 56:11Speaker 2: What sort of like bullying dude was wearing pink in
- 56:15Speaker 2: the eighties.
- 56:16Speaker 4: Like, I don't know.
- 56:18Speaker 2: That was a bad look anyway, but like the pink,
- 56:21Speaker 2: I'm just not into pink. It's cool. If you are,
- 56:23Speaker 2: I just don't like it, but I can't imagine a
- 56:26Speaker 2: dude in the eighties being into pink. Like, Although there
- 56:28Speaker 2: were dudes that wore those, like, pink Oxford shirts that
- 56:31Speaker 2: I never understood.
- 56:32Speaker 4: The preppy guys?
- 56:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Preppy guys that wore pink. I was like, really? Pink? Now? Like, again,
- 56:36Speaker 2: it was the 80s. I was like, what are you doing?
- 56:38Speaker 4: But I don't think I've ever in my life seen
- 56:40Speaker 4: a dude wear a scrunchie.
- 56:41Speaker 2: No.
- 56:41Speaker 4: In the 80s. No.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Dude.
- 56:44Speaker 4: Knock it off. That's not going to happen to me.
- 56:46Speaker 4: Did you know it was a scrunchie?
- 56:46Speaker 2: Now you see dudes that, like, man bun it up
- 56:49Speaker 2: with whatever they need to.
- 56:50Speaker 4: But did you notice the scrunchie?
- 56:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah no i specifically was like i was watching
- 56:54Speaker 2: it again today going back on pink what is no.
- 56:57Speaker 4: What's the dude no i'm sorry.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Yeah that was that was a bad look anyway but
- 57:03Speaker 2: the scrunchie was oddly out of place i feel like.
- 57:06Speaker 4: Not enough aquanet marks that off my list.
- 57:09Speaker 2: As though also and i don't get as nitpicky but
- 57:12Speaker 2: i saw several people calling them out online about the
- 57:15Speaker 2: song usages.
- 57:16Speaker 4: Boyfriend wasn't too happy about it.
- 57:17Speaker 2: I feel like some of them were, except the one
- 57:21Speaker 2: that they called them out specifically for was the Roxette one.
- 57:25Speaker 2: I feel like there's a technicality. I think the album
- 57:28Speaker 2: was out then, but the single that became like everybody
- 57:31Speaker 2: would go woo when it started wasn't until like a
- 57:33Speaker 2: year after this movie was set. So, oops, what are
- 57:37Speaker 2: you going to do? But if we're talking about music,
- 57:41Speaker 2: Definitely have to call out because normally I get this
- 57:43Speaker 2: way when I hear the song and I'm like, yay. Oh, wait, nobody.
- 57:46Speaker 2: There's nobody to tell this to. Nobody cares. But when
- 57:48Speaker 2: I heard it this time, I was like, oh, I
- 57:50Speaker 2: can discuss. Our dear friend Tiffany gets played because you
- 57:54Speaker 2: and I, if you weren't around for the old episode,
- 57:56Speaker 2: you and I are best friends with Tiffany.
- 57:58Speaker 4: Did I hug Tiffany? I don't remember.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Oh, you definitely. I believe you hugged Tiffany twice.
- 58:03Speaker 4: Tiffany.
- 58:04Speaker 2: I got a hug from Tiffany. I'm pretty sure she
- 58:06Speaker 2: liked you so much she hugged you twice.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Got double hugged.
- 58:09Speaker 2: So. We are best friends with Tiffany, is what I'm saying. Yeah.
- 58:13Speaker 2: So they played a little Tiffany, is what I'm saying.
- 58:15Speaker 2: A little Tiffany.
- 58:17Speaker 4: But yeah, for the most part, I was just like,
- 58:18Speaker 4: what the... They just weren't like... And yes, they were songs,
- 58:22Speaker 4: but they weren't like songs that you think of for that...
- 58:24Speaker 4: You know, they weren't like iconic songs for that year,
- 58:26Speaker 4: if that makes any sense.
- 58:29Speaker 2: It's hitting this. I feel like at this point, everything
- 58:31Speaker 2: 80s has become so homogenized 80s that I don't even
- 58:34Speaker 2: know anymore. Like, I hear the same hundred songs on
- 58:38Speaker 2: 80s radio... on 80s streaming. Like, I put it on
- 58:42Speaker 2: 80s at least once a week now because I'm just like, eh,
- 58:44Speaker 2: let's mix things up. Let's play some old stuff. And
- 58:46Speaker 2: no matter what band I put in from that era,
- 58:48Speaker 2: it plays the same 50 to 100 songs. Like, it's
- 58:51Speaker 2: just the same stuff over and over again. So I
- 58:53Speaker 2: don't even know what's... Like, I remember the ones that
- 58:56Speaker 2: were singles sometimes, but then there's other stuff that's just
- 58:58Speaker 2: gotten played a million times since then because the 80s
- 59:01Speaker 2: is a brand.
- 59:02Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 59:05Speaker 2: So, yeah, I don't know. i'm i don't get as
- 59:07Speaker 2: nitpicky about the music sometimes i just saw them call
- 59:09Speaker 2: out rock.
- 59:10Speaker 4: Set i just my immediate response to this because somebody
- 59:13Speaker 4: asked me like right after i watch it they were
- 59:15Speaker 4: like what did you think i'm like it was it's okay.
- 59:18Speaker 2: It was it.
- 59:20Speaker 4: Was fun ish i was okay with the kills.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Definitely See, that's mine. If we're jumping to the overall feelings,
- 59:27Speaker 2: because I was going to start with that, but I
- 59:29Speaker 2: was like, well, you've got to vent first. But if
- 59:31Speaker 2: we're just doing overall, by the end, I was like,
- 59:34Speaker 2: I'm fine with it. Here's my issue with it. It's
- 59:38Speaker 2: not doing anything interesting. It's not doing anything to change
- 59:43Speaker 2: your feelings about horror. It's not pushing the envelope. It's
- 59:47Speaker 2: just basically like, here's an 80s slasher again. Here's the
- 59:51Speaker 2: things that you've seen happen in other 80s slashers, and
- 59:54Speaker 2: we're gonna do that. And that's all we're gonna do.
- 59:57Speaker 2: We're not gonna do any extra. We're not gonna put
- 59:58Speaker 2: a twist on it. We're not gonna make it some
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: sort of new retro looking back and putting a modern
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: day slant on things.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: Nope.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: We're just gonna do an 80s movie again. But the
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: thing is, I like those, so I'm fine. Like, I
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: enjoyed it for what it was. Do I think it's good?
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Do I think it's great? No. Do I think it's good?
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: It's fine. I had a good time with it. I
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: liked some of the performances.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: If they hadn't slapped Fear Street on it, I would
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: have liked it more.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I mean, at this point, you could just call it
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: prom movie. What the hell is this one called? Prom queen.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: There you go. Because I'm like, I want to say night,
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: but even they know what they're doing because did you
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: see the series of posters that they did? It's just
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: them ripping off other movies from the 80s. I was like,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: so they know what they're doing. It's not like they're
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: haphazardly slapping together a bad movie they know they're making
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: a movie from the 80s they know they're ripping off
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: every trope about the 80s movies so it's like yeah
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: it's fine then like if that's what you want to
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: do go for it and they do it and it's
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: well financed and the performances are good and i'm okay
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: with it do i think it's impressive in any way
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: no i don't But do I like that it exists
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: in this run of movies on that little strip? Yes.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: I kind of want them to keep making these. I
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: hope they get better, but.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: I want them to actually follow a plot of a book.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: That's just going to piss you off even more. Any book.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: I feel like that's going to make you more mad.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: But even Chris Klein as the teacher said, fuck, in class.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: That would not have happened.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Well, the mouthing off in class, which that happens in
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: every movie about high school kids. Did you ever see
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: anybody say the kind of shit that kids in movies
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: say to their teachers? No. I was like, man, especially
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: back in the day, they could have slapped your ass
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: for shit. They could beat you back in the day.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Good times. This was Catholic school. Shit, they could do
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: what they wanted back then.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: I have another complaint.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: All right. I'm shocked.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: Why kill the guys? If we're going to get into
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: the spoiler that The killer was killing the girls so
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: that the person that they wanted to be prom queen
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: could be prom queen. What does that have to do
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: with any of the guys?
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I don't understand. I mean, again, if we're jumping to
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: the big reveal, which we threw out the spoiler alert
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: a long time ago.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Double spoiler alert.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: My issue with that was, like I said, I came
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: up with so many better options. But I'm like, why? Like,
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: I guess the big twist in the middle is, ooh,
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: there's more than one. There's two. Scream. Whatever. I've seen Scream. Whatever.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: No big deal. But then, I guess, eventually, there's three.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay. I guess. I don't know. I
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: was like, who cares? So, again, to me, it's like
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: the most... The least interesting version of the wrap-up is
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: what we got. Like, this dumb family just wanted... Because,
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: like I said, there's not even a twist to it.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: I mean, it's, again, the most uninteresting way to do it. So,
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: these people... That you think would go so far as
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: to murder people. So that this girl who super wants
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: to be prom queen. Would be prom queen. Is what
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: they did. Like it's the most basic version of the story.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: There is no twist. It's like this girl. That really
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: wants to be prom queen. She's going to kill people
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: to be prom queen. And that's what they did. So
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: that part I don't understand anyway. Like why not. At
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: least that's the whole horror movie thing. Is give it
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: a twist. Night Shyamalan presents Prom Queen. What a twist.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: But we don't even get that.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: But again, what does that have to do with the boyfriends?
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: Because then you're not even just killing the prom queen candidates.
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: You're killing the random boyfriends that they're there with. You're
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: killing the guy with the scrunchie, for fuck's sake.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Oh, he needed to be killed. But the thing that
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: really made no sense to me is like, okay, if
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: the other girls, I feel like, are in her little tribe,
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: other than we'll get back to cool girls at the beginning.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: But the other girls are in her little tribe, so
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: they're not really a threat. They're going to cancel each
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: other out at best, or they're all going to back
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: out if they think they were going to win. So
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: we only have one girl that's competition. Why not kill
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: her first? If you're afraid you're going to lose to her,
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: why leave her to the point where they're still voting?
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: That makes no sense. She's your only competition that you're
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: worried about. Why not off her first? And she's the
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: girl you hate. You've hated her your whole life. Why
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: not be like, Mom, first and foremost, get rid of
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: this bitch. I am sick of her.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: Nope, nope, nope.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: Nope.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: Nope.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: We're gonna leave her till the end of the movie
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: because she's the main character. Again, convenience. It's just plot convenience.
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: Because in the books, it was literally only the girls.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: And it wasn't for actual... It wasn't actually even for
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: the prom queen status. I could spoil the book for you.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not gonna read it, so spoilers for
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: the book, I guess.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: It was one girl, and apparently... her boyfriend or the
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: guy she was seeing had been messing around with the
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: other girls.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Which is kind of what was gonna happen on that one,
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: if we got to that point.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: I mean, they went out on dates, or they flirted
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: with the other girls, and it was just her being like,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: you're fucking with my man.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: So basically, high school girls. That's pretty much how high
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: school girls roll. You don't fuck with high school girls.
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: That was pretty much it. But it just happened to
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: be that he was going after the popular girls, and
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: they were all... There was no outcasts. In the fucking
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: prom queen candidate line. It was just the girls that
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: were popular that were flirting with her boyfriend.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: Or going out with him. So we skipped over Christy.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Christy is basically their Drew Barrymore. You don't get out much,
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: so I don't know if you watch children's programming like
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: I do. But I've been fully aware. I mean, Ariana Greenblatt.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: She's like taken over. Like she... I've known her in
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: watching since she was a little kid. And basically, she's
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: gunning for her fake TV sister's job. Because she was
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: the littlest sister on Stuck in the Middle. So that's
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: the show that brought us Gina Ortega. That was the
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: thing that launched her into I'm Gonna Take Over the World,
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: which she now owns the world. But on her heels
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: is her little sister from the show. Because around the
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: same time she was shooting Stuck in the Middle, she's
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: the young Gamora in Infinity War. I'm watching Love and Monsters.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: She's in that.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: She's in The Heights. Oh, there's a little kid in
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: the 65 movie. She's the little kid in that. She's
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: the reason the Barbie movie exists. She's the daughter in
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: the Barbie movie. When they do flashbacks on the TV
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: show for Ahsoka, she's young Ahsoka. Not that it went
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: over well, but she's in that giant budget Borderlands movie.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: So that girl is in everything. She is going to
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: be the next big Jenna Ortega, essentially. So she was
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: a huge name for them to get. So, of course,
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: she's got two scenes and gets off.
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: Is she the one who's the drug dealer?
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Yeah, she's the drug dealer and the cool girl. So,
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: of course, I'll show up and be a cool girl
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: for a day and a half to shoot this thing. So, yeah,
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: she's got the classroom scene where she says the thing
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: that you'd get kicked out of school for. What did
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: she say?
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: I don't remember.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Breathing out of your ass or something stupid. I was like,
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: come on. Teachers would have yelled at you for that
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: kind of nonsense. but she's a cool girl so she
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: is gonna mouth off to him because she's a badass
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: but she is super cool i like that girl but
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: it is funny that yeah she's got that classroom scene
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: she's got the drug deal scene where she then gets
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: murdered so she's the drew barrymore in this she's like
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: oh look they got her she's gonna oh no she's
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: off never mind first girl killed she's out so.
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: Should we discuss the one thing that i liked about
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: this movie.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Let's see do I think it was the blue sparkly
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: dress no Megan alright which one's Megan oh the annoying
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: friend she was the.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: Good friend what are you talking about She was the
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: only thing that felt R.L. Stine about this entire fucking thing.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll give you that. That does seem like one
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: of those books.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: Because R.L. Stine was... He still is the master of the...
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: Oh my god, somebody's stabbed! Oh wait, it's a prank!
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Oh my god, somebody's dead!
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: Oh no, it's a joke! You know, with her, like,
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: her whole... I'm gonna fucking drop my phone. Her fucking, oh,
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: I cut my hand off in class.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: See, my issue with that was that weird little circle
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: was exactly the size of her wrist. If she missed
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: by an inch, wouldn't she have just damaged her arm?
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: She's obviously put a lot of work into it.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: I guess, because she had perfect aim. Because she just
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: went up for it and slammed that thing down. I'm like,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: how did you hit that exact perfect little spot in
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: your special effects cleaver?
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: Because that's what she does.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: I guess.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: And then the head in the punch bowl.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: The head in the punch bowl. Let me just say,
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: everybody was a little too quick to assume that it
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: was a fake. Now, I guess they go to school
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: with her, so they assume it. But I'm like, I
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: feel like in the real world, maybe just in modern
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: day world where people die all the time at these
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: things but i'm just like i feel like there would
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: have been an extra minute of holy shit is that
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: an actual.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: Head like it's so long.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: But there was only like a half second of oh
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: my god it's tiffany and she's standing there so i
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: guess that was enough for them to go darn it
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: what's her face what is her name megan darn it
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: megan you've done it again.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: Like I said, she's the only thing that felt Fear Street, R.L.
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: Stine to me. It was Megan. And for the longest time,
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: I was convinced it was her. She did it because
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: she was secretly in love with her best friend and
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: she wanted her best friend to be the prom queen.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: I mean, she did wear a tux to the dance.
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: She was fucking... She was ducky. She was.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: Yeah, if she's coded, it's that way. Although, by the end,
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: I was pretty sure she found a new stoner dude.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, maybe she's gonna come out of
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: this with a boyfriend now. Who knows?
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: She was Ducky. She was the chick from Neon. Is
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: it Neon Maniacs? Because I keep getting that one fucking confused.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: I can't remember. Neon Demons?
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: Neon Maniacs?
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: Neon Demons, good, but I don't think it's that one.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: It's the one where the.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: She's a model.
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: No, it's not that one.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I like that movie, but that's not the one you're
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: thinking of.
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: No, I'm thinking of like older, like in the 80s maybe.
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: So yeah, but she had... It was... It looks... She
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: looks the same. She had the whole fucking thing. I'm like,
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: is she fucking... Yeah, she's Ducky. She comes in with,
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: you know... And I'm like, That's the thing. She's secretly
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: in love with her best friend and she wants her
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: friend to be prom queen to get all this, like,
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: her justice for being, you know, ridiculed for all these years.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: And even by the end of the movie, she's like,
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: her best friend is annoyed at her. She's like, why
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: can't you just let me have this? Leave me alone.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: So that would be reason for her to turn and
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: be like, I'm done with you and everybody here. Exactly.
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: And that would have made more sense to me. I
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: would have been okay. I would have maybe, I don't
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: know that I would have been okay.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: But it's... It would have been more interesting, I guess. Again,
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: that's still not even one on my list of the
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: other alternate endings I came up with.
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: Should we discuss more of our alternate who we thought
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: was the actual killer?
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: We can.
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: I was positive it was Tiffany's boyfriend for the longest time.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: Until he was dead, I thought it was Tiffany's boyfriend.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: That's the thing. He seemed, like, genuinely nice most of
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: the time, which seemed like kind of a red flag of, like, hmm.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: I mean, in the real world, I wouldn't trust that,
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: because what high school guy is nice? And then on
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: top of that, like, he seems like to be with Tiffany,
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: you seem like you would have to be an asshole.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: So why is this guy so genuinely nice and like,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: seems like he's really into her, which that's, it's funny
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: that she kind of called her out. I'm like, it
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: doesn't say much for you, Tiffany, that your boyfriend's been
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: in the whole dance looking at this girl. So it's okay.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: I don't like Tiffany. But so yeah, he seemed like
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: a definite possibility up until the end. I did think
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: it was weird that he got kind of grabby right
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: before he got murdered?
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: Yeah, he like, he turned quick.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Because what was that about? Because I'm like, well, and
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: why was she so hands off? Because like, she wanted
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: to go, because I was like, this is almost on,
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: not to totally blame it, I'm just saying, girls, beware.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: If a dude wants to go somewhere more private, you
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: better assume he's at least going to want to make out.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: Be prepared. Yeah, I was like, don't go there like,
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: innocently like, but you're handsy, what the hell? I'm like, no, no, no,
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: come on. Girls, prepare yourselves. High school guys suck, come
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: on now. Like, you should know he at least wants
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: to make out. Come on. Or just do it in
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: the janitor's closet like the other two that were doing.
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: They were down in the basement doing it. Speaking of,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: the janitor.
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: I was pretty sure. Oh, the janitor.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: I mean, he was, like, red herring for real. Like,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: he seemed a little too obvious. So I was like,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: probably not, but they're definitely making you think it's the janitor.
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: He looked like they really wanted to get Brad Dourif,
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: but they couldn't.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: Can't avoid Brad Dourif. We spent all our money on
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Lily Taylor. That's a waste, man. I really like Lily Taylor.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: She's the vice principal. I know.
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw her.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: She's a for real actress, man. She's like, she is
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: good and stuff. And like, she is wasted here.
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: I told boyfriend, like, look, it's that one girl you
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: always think is Lily Tomlinson or whatever her name is.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: Lily Tomlin?
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: She's considerably older. I know, but he always looks the same.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: No offense to Lily Tomlin either. Also friend of the show.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: But yeah, Lily Taylor is really good and stuff. And
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: like here... It's like, we need somebody to wear a
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: jacket and cross their arms and look angry.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: They were obviously red herrings because they're the super religious
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: ones who don't very disapprove of all the bad things.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: That's what I thought. That was one of the ones
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: I did come up with. I'm like, okay, that would
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: at least make sense that like she frowns on everything
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: these damn high school kids are doing. So if she
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: was like, cleaning things up because these kids are doing
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: drugs drinking having sex i'm like this is old school
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: 80s rules man of course you're gonna do that so
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: like that would have fallen right in line but no
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: we didn't get that because i thought her and her
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: son once we got to the two i was like
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: obviously it's those two it could be those two and
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: that would have reason because these kids are all dirty
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: and they need to die because of.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: It at some point i was pretty sure it was
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: the son and megan They like stood by each other
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: at some point. I'm like, it's those two together.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Yeah. See, the other one I thought was possibly a
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: more interesting wrap up was the, uh, the little toadies
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: that were into Tiffany, the little blonde girl that kept
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: like backing her the whole time. And that dude that
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: was with her. I was like, those two, and if
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: they had a little cult around her that they were like, oh,
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: she's going to win no matter what, even if we
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: have to kill people, that would make more sense than
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: the parents. Like, if they were her weird little toadies
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: that were willing to follow her to whatever lengths to
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: make sure she wins. I'm like, that would have been interesting.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: I don't know, better, but certainly more interesting than, hey,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: mom and dad, whatever. That just seemed boring. So yeah,
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: there was at least those. think i thought of another
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: one while we're talking like i came up with so
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: many alternate people that it could have been it might
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: have been more.
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Interesting but at no point in the entire fucking movie
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: did i think it was chris klein until they fucking
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: literally pulled the mask.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Got stabbed in the eye and you're like oh that
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: that guy that's i think i was still going that's
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: her dad right he's so not memorable in this movie
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: that i was like i think i think that's he's
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: the coachy guy but he's also her dad right i
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: think so So that's the impact he made on us.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: I literally thought it was everybody but the person. And
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: not because they did a good job of, like, hiding it.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: It was because they did so good at, like, making
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: it seem obvious that it was everybody else.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: I mean, the mom was shady. Like, the mom would
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: have made sense. Chris Klein is the one that doesn't
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: make any sense. Like, why does he care? Oh, I
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: knew you wanted it so bad.
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Both of you.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Okay, whatever. Mom seemed freaking crazy. So I'm like, mom,
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: I would give you. Like, she's an insane person even
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: when she's just, like, come look at our daughter with
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: her dress. Like she's overwhelming. I can see her being
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: crazy enough to go down that road. That, okay. That
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: was the other one. That was the plot I was
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: thinking of that was like way more interesting. Now, none
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: of the math makes sense in this. We can get
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: back to that later. But when, when girl gets up
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: in her face and is like telling the whole little
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: story of like the guy from the good side of
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: town goes to the wrong side of the tracks just
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: to hook up with this girl. I thought what we
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: were going to find out is his actual girlfriend at
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: the time was her mom and that they are half sisters,
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: that he got both of them pregnant because they have
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: to be around the same time. So her mom was
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: obviously do it in high school, too, because they're the
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: same fucking age. So like why she was so high
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: and mighty about, you know, the wrong side of the
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: tracks girl just because he got stabbed in the face.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: but still like you were having sex in high school
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: too because she's the same age as you dumbass so
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: yeah I was just like that is what I thought
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: that would have at least been an interesting reveal and
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: like something different but like so I thought it was
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: going to be a different type of thing so I
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: thought that was way more of a like dirty secret
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: that could come out that mom was also hooking up
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: with this dude and that once he was dead, she
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: didn't have to own up to it. She could be
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: with her legit boyfriend and then go off and have
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: a nice little family. So that would be the big
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: secret that would come out. And what almost makes sense
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: that like, there was like a born in reason.
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: They were hooking up, weren't they?
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: I don't know, weren't they? Did they come out with that?
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: I thought that's why she killed him was because he
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: was hooking up with her.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: That was what, but that's why I thought like, born
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: into why this girl hated her so much. Like, she's
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: her sister. And, like, she didn't even realize it, but
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: that's why, like, from birth, she had shit with her. Like,
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: she was just, she seemed so angry at her for
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: no good reason. I was like, well, that, like, genetically
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: would make sense. Sisters love to fight. She doesn't like you,
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: and she doesn't even know that she's your sister.
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that the guy that was killed was
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: dating her mom, and, like, they split up.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: I think that was part of it. I was just
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: working in the, she also got, she also got pregnant,
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: and that's why this girl hated her so much and
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: she didn't even know it sisters maybe.
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: I don't know that would make more.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: That would have been way more interesting i feel like
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: but no and they even like led into it with
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: that whole story and she was giving her all these
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: details and i was like and then later she's gonna
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: figure out that like that's how mom got pregnant and
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: that's why mom wanted to cover everything up and so
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: yeah i don't know we just didn't get any of
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: that no we didn't we.
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: Didn't If you're not going to follow the storyline, at
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: least somewhat to the book, at least make it an
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: interesting storyline.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: Not this. It's part of it.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: We're fun along the journey was fun.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Again, I think it's fine. Like I said, I think
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: it hits all the beats of your standard high school slasher.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Like it's not worse than any of those other movies.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: And it's kind of well funded more than the eighties
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: movies were. So it's like, it's well-made. It does those
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: things that I like tropes in the eighties movies. I'm like,
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: it's not, I can't be mad at it for any
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: of that. I wish it was a little better. I
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: wish it was more creative in its storytelling. But, like,
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: it's fine as a horror movie goes. Like, I'm not
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: going to trash it overall, which I saw a lot
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: of people. That's the thing. I knew you weren't thrilled,
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: but I also knew the book angle on your end.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: But I saw... several people on to the point. I
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: quit looking to see what people said because everything I
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: saw was people just talking shit about. And I was like,
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: it's not that bad. Like, look, I've watched a lot
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: of bad movies. This is far from a bad movie. Comparatively.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: It's not creative, but it's, you know, I watched empire
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: of the dark.
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: Your favorite is movie. And this is worlds better than
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Empire of the Dark. This is well funded. I bet
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: they had craft services. Unlike Empire of the Dark. This
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: was a well made film comparatively. So yeah. Again I'm
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: fine with it. I just wished it was a little
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: better in it's story.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: I wish that it had followed the book. At least somewhat.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: But then it would still stray from it. And it
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: would piss you off. So I think either way you
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: were going to be pissed.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: Even if it had a slightly different twist, it would
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: be fine.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Then it would have to have a twist. Again, this
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: one doesn't even have a twist. It's just straight through.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: Here's a whole lot of red herrings, but it never
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: twists off of anything. It's just could be this one,
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: could be this one, could be this one. Nope, it's
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: not that one. It's this one. No twist. It's just
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: a straight line to mom and dad. There's a fork
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: in the road where we add an extra person.
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: There's a fork where we go from it could be
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: interesting to this.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: No, just this thing. It's just that Chris Klein dude.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Never mind. What did you think of the killer, the
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: whole look of them? I thought it worked. It's a
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: bit much, but like, it was okay. I don't understand
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: why though. Like again, it's almost like horror movies begat
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: by horror movies. It's like, because you need a costume
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: in a slasher movie. So we came up with this
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: elaborate costume. Why? No reason. Cause it's almost as elaborate
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: as something like your, I know what you did last summer.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: They're wearing a big rain slicker, but I'm like, he
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: has a reason. He's a fucking sailor. He's a fisherman. Like,
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: that's why he's wearing that. Why you, a high school
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: teacher and I guess a housewife, I don't even believe
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: she has a job, are wearing a giant ass leather
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: pleather whatever the fuck kind of coat that is and
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: a mask and like it's very elaborate.
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: There's no symbolism.
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: For no backstory. Yeah, I'm like if you gave it
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: a reason I'm fine with elaborate. But like if they're
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: putting on all that shit to go murder people for
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: no reason when you could just show up and put
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: on a clear poncho that you paid 98 cents for
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: to keep blood off your suit when you go back
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: to it.
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: Fucking Gallagher style?
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Gallagher style. You got to sit in the melon
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: zone and splatter zone area, but you don't want to
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: get blood on your suit while you're at the dance.
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: So I understand you put something over it, maybe, but
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: why put all that? Because at one point it looked
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: like there wasn't even a split in the middle. I
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: was like, did they put that over their head? Because
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: that would be really cumbersome. Eventually there were close-ups and
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: it is split, it looks like. Again, there may be
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: just different versions and different cuts back and forth. But
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: at one point, it's definitely split in the middle, I guess.
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: But what is that? Again, it's not a ring coat, really.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: It's too elaborate and too weird and leathery. I think
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: they just got it at the sex shop, really.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: That's why I thought it might have been Megan, because
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: she was into all that shit. She was the one
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: who made the head. She was into costumes. She was
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: into all that.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: She would wear something elaborate. That would make sense.
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: She'd go all in.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: That would make sense.
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: Megan was not half-assing things.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: But yeah, I thought it looked right. It just didn't
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: really have a reason to be that elaborate. It didn't
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: make sense. But visually, it looked creepy. Like, it worked.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: It just, there wasn't a reason for it to work.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: And there were no mullets in this movie.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: See, that's what Ponytail Dude should have had. A mullet?
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: That guy was a mullet guy. Come on. He's a
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: fourth year senior.
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: If Chris Klein's going to be playing a gym teacher guy...
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: Was he a gym teacher as well? I thought he was.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: I thought they called him coach or something. I don't know.
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: He could have had a fucking mullet.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: He should have at least had super short shorts. It's
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: the 80s, man. Dudes wore some scary super short shorts.
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: Short shorts and half tops.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Crop tops, dude. Showing off his gut at this point.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: Back in the day, he would have been all ripped
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: and stuff, but now he's just an old man, so
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: he's going to have a gut. Nobody wants that.
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: Dad bod.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: That's a thing, right? People like that. I mean, yeah.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: He probably is rocking a dad bod. He doesn't look
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: like he's massively out of shape. He just got old.
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: And that's just scad. Scary and sad.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: Scad.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Scad. Makes me scad every time I see somebody like that.
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: You're scared and sad at the same time.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: Yeah. I kind of am. Because I remember the real times.
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: Trademarked here on Movie Meltdown.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: The scad. It's all scad. Everything in this movie is scad.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Because I remember the 80s. these aren't the 80s and
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: it makes me scared.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: My boyfriend was just like, this doesn't feel like the 80s.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: There were different classes in the 80s. There was the metalheads.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: There was no metalheads in this movie.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't really breakfast club it. They didn't have
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: everybody representing a certain thing. There were the slightly nerdier people,
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: but not like cookie gutter, which seems cliche until you
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: actually see nerdy people. Now, I'm saying that from a convention,
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: so I know some nerdy people. I might be one.
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: But they're definitely like, when you think they're going caricature,
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: just go out into the world and they're kind of not.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: Like there are some really out of touch nerdy people
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: that are equally as nerdy as your caricatures get. So
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: sometimes it seems like they're going too far with that,
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: but they're probably not actually.
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: And then we get to the fake out ending that
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: we all know is not the ending. Anytime somebody's like,
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: the cops have shown up or.
- 1:24:26Speaker 9: They're sitting in an ambulance and like blood starts to
- 1:24:29Speaker 9: pull and then the secret symbol well you know that
- 1:24:31Speaker 9: like it still has a good 15 or 20 minutes
- 1:24:34Speaker 9: left why are the cops already here like some movies
- 1:24:36Speaker 9: end with the cops and some movies you feel like
- 1:24:38Speaker 9: they got there a little early and you're like i
- 1:24:40Speaker 9: think there's an extra secret ending coming so we knew
- 1:24:44Speaker 9: it was dad but i'm like we saw two people
- 1:24:46Speaker 9: so like you're not fooling us you showed us two
- 1:24:49Speaker 9: people at the same time you know there's at least
- 1:24:51Speaker 9: one more person So there was the fake out ending
- 1:24:54Speaker 9: and then like we go back to the house and
- 1:24:56Speaker 9: there's the real ending.
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: Which she was like trying to be nice to her too.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: Like she's like, I'll take her home. I'm like, fuck her.
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: She's been a jerk to you her whole life.
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: Your entire life.
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: She's been an asshole to you. That's when I realized
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: that I've said this before, but watching this movie really
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: brought it up. specifically like when she stops her, like
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: she's going to work, which first of all, who works
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: a shift before prom? Like you got out of school,
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: you got to go to prom. You've got time for
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: a whole shift to work. She must've gone in for
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: like an hour, whatever, too much time to get holding
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: her old waitress outfit. But like, she's walking to work
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: and girl gets like all up in her face while
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: she's out running. And like, she's saying some shit. And
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: I'm just like, punch her in the face. Like, that's
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: what I've realized over the years. I'm like, I can't
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: go back in time and go to school. I can't
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Peggy Sue got married and be like my brain now
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: in high school body. Cause I would say shit. Like
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: I will probably get my ass kicked, but like, I
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: don't care. I don't put up with that kind of
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: shit anymore. I say horrible things to people all the time.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: So like now if I went back to my high
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: school days, I would be saying horrible shit to people
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: and probably get punched in the face or I just
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: haul off and hit somebody. Like I don't, I don't
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: know how to do that anymore. As a kid, I
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: sat there and just fucking dealt with it as you're
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: supposed to do. But you lose that when you get old.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: And I'm like, I realize now, like that girl should
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: just punch her in the face right now because mostly
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: that would mess up her prom photo. She'd have a
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: big bloody nose or her nose would be swollen up.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: And oh my God, her nose wasn't small and cute.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: She would be so broken up about that. Or she'd
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: have a black eye in her prom photo. How awesome
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: would that be? So yeah, I realized I can't go
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: back to high school. Guess what I don't want to
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: because high school sucks.
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: I couldn't be nice to people like that.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: I don't do it now. I don't know that I
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: did it then. I just didn't talk to anybody then.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: Whereas now, I still don't talk to anybody. But I
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: used to at least kind of just ignore people where
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: now if you like actively get on my nerves, I
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: make it known. Like I'm just like, go away. I
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: don't want to talk to you. You suck. There are
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: certain people in my life that know that I don't
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: like them now. And I'm like, just stay away from me.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: We won't have to go down this road if you
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: get away from me. Thanks. So, yeah, I can't go
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: back in time because I feel like she should have.
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: Same thing with her in the hallway telling her a
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: little wrong side of the track story. Like, punch her
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: in the face.
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: Elbow right to the nose.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you need to take this. She's a wuss. Look
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: at her. You could kick her ass. And girl would
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: join in, because Melissa's cool. She's had a turn around here.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: She wants to be your friend now.
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: Yeah, she was okay about it.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, she helped you with your makeup. Come on, she's cool.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: She'd be your friend, and she'd have your back, and
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: she'd hold her down while you punch her in the face,
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: because she sucks. And boyfriend was like, they did not
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: have that eye makeup in the 80s. Yeah, her little
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: Egyptian thing when she comes back with it.
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: Boyfriend called it doe eyes, and I'm like, is that
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: doe eyes?
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: It's like demon pointy eyes, but it was very Egyptian.
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: I mean, back in the day, they had that, I guess,
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: if you believe, like, you know. Cleopatra movies and whatnot.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: But in the 80s, they weren't really doing that. That's
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: like a 2000s thing. That wasn't even a 90s look.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: I feel like that was a post-2000s movement when they
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: started doing the extra special eye makeup stuff. It was
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: just giant eyeshadow back in the 80s.
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: There was no eye fucking shadow.
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: It was obnoxious colors that didn't need to be on
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: your face.
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: There was no hairspray. There was no fucking outrageous makeup.
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: No fucking dresses that had big bows on them.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Giant shoulders.
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: Yeah, there was no shoulder pads.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: Giant shoulders was kind of thing for the 80s, I
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: hate to tell you. These were almost like classy, like
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: now prom dresses, really. Definitely the ones the other girls,
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: the sparkly blue dresses they both had, were pretty now dresses.
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: Hers was just weird, like Disney princess. She had a bow,
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: but it was going the wrong way. It was just
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: a ribbon across the middle. She looked like a Disney
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: princess of some sort.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: It was not an 80s prom dress.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: It was not an 80s prom dress, though.
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: I remember my aunt She had an 80s prom dress.
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: And it was poofy like a motherfucker.
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: It was big.
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: And I'm pretty sure there was taffeta involved. And maybe
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: some crinoline. And I don't even know what crinoline is.
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: But it was ginormous and pink. And there was a
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: lot of it. Just because of the size of the
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: poof in it.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: You know? So, yeah. Second fake out. Mom's crazy.
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: Daughter's crazy.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: Daughter's also crazy. But again, why all three of them?
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: I could understand... maybe mom and dad and the daughter
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: was unaware of it or mom and the daughter, because
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: they're both crazy in the same way. And dad was
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: sort of oblivious to what was going on, but all
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: three just seems like a weird move without some sort
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: of tie in specific story, like some sort of pact
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: that they made or something stupid that tied it all
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: together and gave us a backstory for those dumb outfits.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: And like, if you gave it a reason for all
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: of this wrap up, maybe, but like, we don't get that.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: And that's where I feel like they dropped the ball.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: And if you're going to do this, At least give
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: us a reason for all this dumb stuff. But instead,
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: they're just like, and then this happens. The end. I
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: don't know. That was my problem.
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: I had a lot of problems, obviously. I think we
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: covered most of the.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: I do like her getting impaled on the bird.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: That was pretty funny.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: That was pretty cool. It's Death Go. Yeah, they had
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: a lot of good deaths. Including the paper chopper. The
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: paper chopper.
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: You forgot.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: You brought up the paper chopper earlier. That one, I guess,
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: had to be Dad. I was watching that again afterwards.
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: I went back and was watching stuff, and I was like,
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: He like overpowers that dude. So I'm like, there's no
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: way Tiffany, Tiffany weighs like 90 pounds. She is not.
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: Mom's at least a grown ass woman. She probably does jazzercise.
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: She probably has crazy woman strength.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: Yeah, she could almost, maybe mom, but I'm assuming because
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: he like smashes his face through the window, chops off
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: the arm in one shot. Like that, at least I'm going,
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: maybe Chris Klein could do that.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: Which does lead us to one of my favorite scenes
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: in the entire movie. Dude trying to open the door
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: with two bloody nubs.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: That was pretty funny. And I laughed.
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: And I'm like, you can't open the door. You ain't
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: got no hands.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: Along the chopping off hands line, just to give you
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: a good tie in and a reason to go back
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: and watch that, whatever the hell I called it. Demon City. Oh,
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: Demon City. Demon City, when he's like going in for
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: his initial kill. So this was early on. He's got
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: his big ass hatchet thing. And he like chops this
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: dude hand. off completely and he's laying on the floor
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: like bleeding and like he turns around and goes to
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: walk off and he's still holding it and then like
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: I was like does he realize he's still holding my
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: hand and you see him just kind of nonchalantly look
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: down and go and just shrug and throws it over
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: his shoulder so that reminded me of chopping off a
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: hand because he does kind of the same thing it's
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: about at the same spot so yeah chopping off hands
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: it's what happens in this episode but when he.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: Tries to open the doorknob I mean that would be
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: hard with bloody nubs I mean it'd be one thing
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: if I was following like the little lever door.
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: Then you could just hit it with your nub. But
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: with a doorknob, yeah, that's a big rounded doorknob. You're screwed, man.
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: You ain't getting that door open.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: And he didn't.
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: Spoilers.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: Too late now. So yeah, I like the impalement. We
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: got a good amount of blood. So yeah, again, I'm
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: fine with the rest of the stuff.
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: The girl's innards coming outards.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: Lots of holding innards. Gotta love that. So yeah, the
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: gore was all pretty good. Fake within the story and
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: real within the story. It was all pretty fun. I
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: like that stuff. So, super extra bonus ending. What did
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: you think about the blood turning into the witch's symbol?
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: I figured that would also piss you off.
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: The witch's symbol that had nothing to do with the
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: fucking books, whatever.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: Exactly. But she exists in the movie Quadrology. Yeah, because...
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Because they brought her up in the other things.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: And they didn't have Sarah Fear written on the wall
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: in the bathroom.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: So she is in-universe now. Now we're creating our own
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: little movie.
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: Now, if it had said, for a good time, call
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: Sarah Fear.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: That'd be pretty hot. That'd be funny. Who doesn't want
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: some witch action? But I do. Like, again, it was
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: super cheesy. But I was like, yeah, it's fine. Again,
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: it fits with this Fear Street universe we've created, so
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: I'm fine with it. Again, without knowing, though, it makes
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: no real sense. Like, everyone else who is super casually
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: watching this movie went, wait, what was that? The hell
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: did it just do? So, it's only for the real
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: fans who hate this movie because they read the book.
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: Out of the four movies that we watched.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: This is the worst. No offense. I think this is fine.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: But I enjoyed the other three more. Mostly the last
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: half of the third. The third one is the weakest
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: of those.
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: Yeah, the whole timey one. I didn't like the old
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: timey part.
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: No, the old timey is boring as hell. But the
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: end goes back to the 90s and hangs out at
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: the mall and finishes the story from the first one.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: So you kind of need it. The second one exists
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: in its own 70s world.
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: I enjoyed that one the most.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: That's the best one. The second one is the best.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: The first one is my next favorite. The third is
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: okay because I like the second half of it. And
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: then this one's fine on its own. It's also... It's great. Again,
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: it's great for what it is. But it's still the
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: worst of these four.
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: I liked it better than the first half of the
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: third movie.
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: I'll give you that. I don't... Yeah, the first... Well,
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: it's just so long. Like, if it was like a
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: 15-minute flashback, it'd be great. But it's half of the movie.
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: And it's so boring. I'm like, okay, I get it. She's...
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: put upon and she has to hide that she wants
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: to be a witch or whatever. Who cares?
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: I thought she was hiding that she wanted to be
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: with a girl.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: Well, that's obviously that reason. That's the reason she's a witch.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: Every lesbian is a witch. We all know that.
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: And I thought I was going to offend everybody when
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: I said retarded.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: I think everyone knows I'm being facetious.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: Everyone knows I'm just an asshole.
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: Oh, we know that.
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: What, is this your first episode? Come on, we all
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: know that.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: I'm sorry. They don't have any way to contact me,
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: do they? Because I don't want that hate mail.
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: You can have all that hate mail.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: Nobody cares. Nobody cares enough to hate. That's what I've realized.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: There's a lot of hate out there. Does anybody listen
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: to this show? No, not at all. And it's fine.
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: I remember we got hate mail once because I made
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: fun of redheads. A lot.
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: Yeah. It was a whole episode.
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: Soulless gingers.
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: Yeah. But I find many redhead girl attractive now. So
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: what are you going to do?
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: Depends on which kind of redhead they are, which we
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: probably shouldn't get into.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: Well, no, I even think like there are plenty that
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: are like legit redheads and they're almost to the point
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: of referring to as a gender, even though that's probably
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: not approved of by them. But there are even several
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: of those now that I'm like, nope.
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: She's hot.
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: So I don't have a problem with specifics, but that's
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: true of everyone. So I don't generalize. I dislike most
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: people overall. And then I pick and choose which ones
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: I like. Mostly hot chicks. Yeah. Occasionally a cool dude. But,
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: you know, when do you run into cool people? So.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: I just watch cool chicks on movies and TV, and
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: I'm like, I like them. And then that's my interaction
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: for the rest of my life. This was the most
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: I've been out with people in quite a while.
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: I know, it's exhausting.
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: I'm hungry. It is. So with that, we better wrap up. So,
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: y'all loved it.
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: I hated it.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: You didn't hate it for real. It's tolerable.
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: I hated it as a Fear Street movie.
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: As a Fear Street tie-in, you hated it. As a
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: regular old slasher movie, it's fine. That's my takeaway. I've
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: seen a lot of crap. It's not as bad as
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: a lot of that, so it's fine. It's in the
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: middle somewhere as slashery movies go. It's not the best,
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: but it's certainly not the worst either, so it's fine.
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: It's ish. It's fine. Your list is way bigger than
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: my list.
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I had a lot of shit to write down.
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: Did you get through most of it?
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: It was mostly just stuff that was going on in
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: case we ran out of things to rant about, but
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: we had plenty of things to rant about, so it's fine.
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: I think I covered everything on my list.
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: Front and back. There it is. It is on a
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: post-it note.
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: For senior advocacy.
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: For Geritol.
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: My main note for Empire of the Dark was Velcro
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: shoes and sweatpants.
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: I thought that was just your outfit while you were
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: watching it.
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: I don't wear sweatpants. I don't have Velcro.
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: Oh, hold on. Okay, I did specifically the other day
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: I was talking about how I've already just penciled in
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: that I'm going to have the old people's sketchers because
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: I was talking to an old person who had old
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: people's sketchers on and I was like, I'm not going
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: to make fun of you because I'll be wearing those
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: in a few years because I already hurt trying to
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: get down to put them in. I'm an old man
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: as it is. I like my chucks, but I know
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: eventually I'm not even going to be able to get
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: down there and get them on because chucks are all
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: floppy and stuff. They're not like, at least like a
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: hard shoe you can shove your foot in. Chucks, you
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: got to put in effort, man. And I'm willing to
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: do it.
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: Unlike that one girl we saw in there who was
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: just stepping on the back of her shoes.
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: Oh, my God. That was a nightmare. I have issues
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: with people. I don't like sandals. I don't like people
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: with no backs on their shoes. I don't like Crocs.
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: Any of your weird slip-ins, no back action. Like, I
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: don't like them. That girl's shoes are over there across
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: the street. It doesn't have a back on it. I
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: don't like it. If I'm going to bother to put
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: on a shoe, I want it to have a back.
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: I like that I can lace it up and keep
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: it on my foot in case I need to run.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: At any moment, I'm convinced the slasher is going to
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: come out behind me, and I'm going to need to run.
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: That's why Crocs have the sports gear attachment on the back.
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: You can throw the little nubs. What are the little
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: things called? I don't know.
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: I don't fucking know what Crocs are.
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but you make fun of people with Crocs. I
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: figured you'd know. It has a name. I can't remember.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: All I know is you're putting it in sports mode.
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: Only because I know I watched the collector's call of
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: the dude that has a million. Crocs in his... His
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: entire house is Crocs. It was kind of a nightmare.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: But Blair figured it out. She's got it. She's on
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: top of that shit. But he has a whole bunch
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: of those collector versions. Those little nubs you shove in
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: there too. So I guess if he's in trouble you
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: pop them off and throw them at people.
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: I did see something that had truck nuts on them.
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: Oh god. The only thing more horrifying than Crocs cross
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: with truck nuts yikes anyway this girl was stepping on
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: the back of her shoes which i've actually seen people
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: do but not in a long time it might be
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: throwback to the 80s because i feel like that's like
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: a dumb high school kid thing to do and this
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: was a grown-ass woman so why she was doing that
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: i do not know but there she was an abomination
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: yeah but other than that everybody else was cool i
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: i got along with the nerds as best as i
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: could i try not to interact or come in contact
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: with them and We made a round and we looked
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: at stuff and toys and models. Anyway, we had a
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: good time. So thank you to Wonderfest for letting us
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: come and be part of the action.
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: You should go to wonderfest.com and then you can start
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: planning your trip here next year. Because they've already figured
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: it out. They're always on top of things. They've already
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: got the weekend mapped out in a year in advance.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: They're already... suckering in people to come already right now
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: in there now they're making deals getting people back already
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: so you go to the website and get yourself here
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: next year and then you can see us sitting outside

- 1:39:54Speaker 2: we do now it's just sit outside and talk about
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: toys and movies and other random geek things that's how

- 1:40:04Speaker 2: and talk about geek things Otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: We will return next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Bye.
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: Jenny says she don't want to be depressed because she
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: looks so good in a satin dress.
- 1:40:16Speaker 10: And we're playing the drum.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: Trevor's sad. He don't want to be mad. But his
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: touch got dirty that he borrowed from his dad.
- 1:40:29Speaker 10: And we're playing the drum. Yeah, we're playin' the prom
- 1:40:36Speaker 10: The jock's all cleaned up, we're all impressed But who's.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: That girl that watched you wearin' my dress?

- 1:42:27Speaker 10: Yeah, we're playing the punk.
- 1:42:56Speaker 11: Is there some kind of sports thing going on?
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: Guys, I keep seeing girls in sports outfits.
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: I don't know. You think I pay attention to sports?
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: If I pay attention to sports, would I be at
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: this nerd fest?
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: But short shorts.
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: I like girls in short shorts, I can tell you that.
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: As much as I don't like sports, girls wearing sport
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: uniforms is super hot. Like, kind of all of them.
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: Basketball girls? Soccer girls? Let me tell you why I'm
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: so into yellow jackets. Soccer girls?
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: What about pickleball uniforms?
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: I don't know, do they have uniforms?

- 1:43:45Speaker 2: Is there like a professional pickleball league?
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: Yeah, because that one guy who used to be a
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: tennis player won.
