- 0:00Speaker 1: Happy Monday. How we do this, sir? I'm weird. I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: in a weird mood. I've never had this happen before.
- 0:06Speaker 1: I literally ended my participation in not one, but two
- 0:12Speaker 1: big talked about movies over the weekend. I decided to
- 0:15Speaker 1: go get my butt over to Spider.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Man, as did we.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I made it about forty five minutes to an hour.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I couldn't believe how stupid it was. It was the dumbest,
- 0:26Speaker 1: most trite, cliched, idiotic, and I thought, Man, am I
- 0:31Speaker 1: getting old? What's the problem? I used to love Spider
- 0:34Speaker 1: Man and the whole genre. It was forced humor that
- 0:39Speaker 1: wasn't funny. I didn't know who these characters were. I mean,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I guess you're supposed to know the Spider Man franchise
- 0:45Speaker 1: to know.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You had you skipped a couple, did you?
- 0:48Speaker 1: Oh?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Tom Holland is Spider Man now. Before that was
- 0:52Speaker 2: Andrew Garfield. He was okay, I'm a Toby Maguire Spider
- 0:55Speaker 2: Man guy. I went with with with doc Oc and
- 0:59Speaker 2: the Green Goblin. I mean, those were good popcorn munchers.
- 1:02Speaker 2: This one was very pensive and brooding. I didn't I
- 1:08Speaker 2: don't think I hated it as much as you did.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I was.
- 1:12Speaker 1: What I walked out. I left. I Now, this is
- 1:15Speaker 1: weird because there are two things then that I've I
- 1:18Speaker 1: invested in that I ended. So I left the movie
- 1:21Speaker 1: theater by Friday night, got tired of that, thought this
- 1:24Speaker 1: is stupid. I got better wide brothers sit home and
- 1:26Speaker 1: we'll read a book. And then and then last night
- 1:30Speaker 1: I dove into this big Netflix show that everybody's talking about,
- 1:34Speaker 1: The Last House, and I thought, oh, this will be fascinating.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It's the dumbest movie and the history of the movies.
- 1:42Speaker 2: This one is right in my wheelhouse?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Is it?
- 1:44Speaker 2: Because I saw the trailer. It's kind of a sci
- 1:47Speaker 2: fi thing where the mystery is that nobody can get
- 1:50Speaker 2: out of their house. Something has happened. They're all locked
- 1:52Speaker 2: and there were some houses they're shooting messages to each
- 1:55Speaker 2: other through the house. Is this happening all over town,
- 1:58Speaker 2: all over the world.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It was.
- 2:00Speaker 2: We were totally going to put that on our watch list.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Well that when I made it about a minute, about
- 2:05Speaker 1: an hour and ten minutes before I turn that thing off. Well,
- 2:08Speaker 1: and then, without spoiler, without spoilers, what went wrong with that? Well,
- 2:13Speaker 1: there's no spoiler need because I don't even know how
- 2:14Speaker 1: it ended, nor did I care. I hope they all died.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I hope they the whole neighborhood blew up. I mean,
- 2:20Speaker 1: can we have some action here for an hour? It's
- 2:23Speaker 1: the family locked in the house. Oh let's feed the dog.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Oh let's look at the fish. Oh we've only got
- 2:30Speaker 1: two copies of DVDs Annie and some other movie. Let's
- 2:34Speaker 1: watch Annie again. I'm thinking, will something happen? Will the
- 2:37Speaker 1: creatures come out and eat them already? Or will you
- 2:40Speaker 1: do something to make this thing it never? And then
- 2:44Speaker 1: I went on social media, which is always fun to do,
- 2:47Speaker 1: to look it up and see what X was hammering it,
- 2:50Speaker 1: saying the exact same thing I was saying. Stupid, pointless,
- 2:54Speaker 1: bad acting, bad special effects. The octopus octopus creatures were
- 3:00Speaker 1: roaming around in the streets. It was stupid, I mean.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And apparently, according to X hey for the spoiler alert,
- 3:08Speaker 1: the last half hour of the ending was awful, so
- 3:11Speaker 1: it didn't even really probably end satisfactorily.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I just save me a couple of it. Well, you
- 3:16Speaker 2: know what, all right, I'm gonna give you something back
- 3:17Speaker 2: that is uplift. That is uplifting. I was actually and
- 3:20Speaker 2: why don't we We can explore this a little more
- 3:22Speaker 2: in podcast territory, because I had actually put a little
- 3:25Speaker 2: pit of this and said, this could be kind of
- 3:26Speaker 2: podcast stuff. Is there because Lisa Lisa? There's a movie
- 3:30Speaker 2: that Lisa saw, because every American has and I just haven't.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Is there a major, huge, classic, iconic film that everybody
- 3:41Speaker 2: has seen and you just haven't anything anything jump out?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Oh? Not off the top of my head. I'm sure
- 3:50Speaker 1: there are. I mean, I'll give you one, you're ready.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Homie has never seen Bravehearts never, but so and we've
- 4:03Speaker 1: been and it's funny. It's been a matter of finding
- 4:06Speaker 1: the time. If we got three hours, man, we got
- 4:08Speaker 1: episode of this episode so that the bear is back,
- 4:11Speaker 1: which and which may or may not be an okay episode,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:14Speaker 2: But over the weekend we actually I looked at her
- 4:16Speaker 2: as we said, we gonna watch this absolutely and it's
- 4:20Speaker 2: just fantastic.
- 4:22Speaker 1: That's a great movie.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's a little is it? Is it a little cheesy? Yes?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Is me? What a quandary? Mel Gibson is. What a
- 4:32Speaker 2: strange man in some ways, but what a genius. This
- 4:36Speaker 2: is his sort of Kevin Costner Dancy dances with Wolves thing.
- 4:40Speaker 2: He stars in it and directed it. It's an unbulike
- 4:43Speaker 2: I'm telling everybody in the world is going no, we know,
- 4:45Speaker 2: we you know well saw it seven times, but finally
- 4:48Speaker 2: finally logged Braveheart, and so if you have not, it
- 4:51Speaker 2: is absolutely worth it. It's just one of those popcorn
- 4:54Speaker 2: munching epics that I.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Well, let's go, let's go to current events and my shock.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yesterday I was skimming through the Sunday morning news shows
- 5:05Speaker 1: and I came across CBS and Face the Nation and
- 5:10Speaker 1: Margaret Brennan invited the acting CDC director, the director of
- 5:15Speaker 1: the NIH doctor j Batchara, to come onto the show.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Mark.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I don't know that I've ever seen a segment like
- 5:24Speaker 1: this in television. He is this calm, cool, collected guy
- 5:28Speaker 1: trying to explain to her. I don't know if you
- 5:32Speaker 1: saw this, but Mark, it is so bad I posted
- 5:35Speaker 1: and it got it kind of went viral. My tweet
- 5:38Speaker 1: last night on X I said this should be shown
- 5:42Speaker 1: to journalism classes forever, to show what happens when you've
- 5:47Speaker 1: got some unhinged anchor with an agenda who is flaying
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean, her nostrils were flailing. I mean I thought
- 5:55Speaker 1: she was going to reach over and hit him. She's
- 5:57Speaker 1: so filled with rage and anger, and you don't really
- 6:00Speaker 1: understand what she's angry about. I mean, I don't get it.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I don't know if it was if it was feigned outrage,
- 6:06Speaker 1: if it was performative, if she's really mad. She actually
- 6:10Speaker 1: tried to make the case that because a year ago
- 6:14Speaker 1: some lunatic shot and killed a security office officer at
- 6:19Speaker 1: the CDC headquarters in Atlanta, that sometow somehow he and
- 6:24Speaker 1: Trump and Bobby Kennedy and the administration are to blame
- 6:29Speaker 1: because apparently the shooter was upset about all the misinformation
- 6:35Speaker 1: that we've received about COVID, and she wanted to re
- 6:38Speaker 1: litigate that with this guy. Now, first of all, you've
- 6:40Speaker 1: got to see Jay, doctor j Batticera. He is this calm, cool, collected, scientificable.
- 6:46Speaker 1: He was unflat.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Well, he wasn't upset at all, and he's like you
- 6:49Speaker 3: could almost say, he's looked like looking at her, like,
- 6:51Speaker 3: what in the heck are you raging about? Margaret, get
- 6:54Speaker 3: a grip, Marge, getta get a handle here. Pumped the brakes.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I mean, it was awful. It was as bad.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I want to play the whole segment on my show today,
- 7:04Speaker 1: because look, this is what these guys do now, they
- 7:07Speaker 1: don't ever and there ought to be a robust debate
- 7:11Speaker 1: about why public trust is so low in our health officials.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And he's trying to tell her, well, it had a
- 7:17Speaker 1: lot to do with COVID, and she was having none
- 7:21Speaker 1: of it. Mark. I mean she was pushing back and
- 7:23Speaker 1: yelling at him and shutting him down and interrupting him.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I mean, this has faced the nation for crying out
- 7:28Speaker 1: loud on CBS. Legend Man, how far they fallen? Mark?
- 7:33Speaker 2: Now, how far is Chyle? Actual Democrats like John Fetterman
- 7:36Speaker 2: and like Bill Maher did to catch Fridays and Friday
- 7:39Speaker 2: nights real time kind of you know. He said, Listen,
- 7:42Speaker 2: let's stop trying to put Anthony Fauci in jail, he says,
- 7:46Speaker 2: but let's not separate ourselves from the fact that one
- 7:49Speaker 2: of the part of the reasons his reputation is in
- 7:51Speaker 2: trouble is he absolutely fell victim to his own press.
- 7:54Speaker 2: He absolutely fell in love with too much of the
- 7:57Speaker 2: fawning and absolutely said some things that wound up being disproven.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I need you to help me. Sometimes we come to
- 8:05Speaker 2: each other and say we need attitudinal help. I need
- 8:07Speaker 2: a little bit as this week begins. I'm not depressed
- 8:11Speaker 2: or downtrodden or pessimistic. I'm really really not. In fact,
- 8:14Speaker 2: a lot of what people are saying about Paxton versus
- 8:16Speaker 2: tallar Eco is just wrong. We're going to talk about
- 8:18Speaker 2: that something later on today. Ken's doing fine. Ken's going
- 8:22Speaker 2: to do fine. But in the country, from the war
- 8:26Speaker 2: to the economy, we're doing our side is doing a
- 8:30Speaker 2: really great job pointing out how crazy these other guys
- 8:34Speaker 2: are because they are, I mean, they're doing us a
- 8:37Speaker 2: lot of favors. That's not going to be enough. It's
- 8:40Speaker 2: not going I know, Trump won in twenty twenty four
- 8:43Speaker 2: partially because we just did not want Kamala. I get it.
- 8:46Speaker 2: There are ways to win because you're just better than
- 8:48Speaker 2: the crazy other side. But from the economy to yes
- 8:52Speaker 2: affordability to this vexing, perplexing war situation, things need to change,
- 8:58Speaker 2: and they need to start changing fast.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Well, Ben dominic I thought put it perfectly over the weekend.
- 9:05Speaker 1: We've got to make a better We got to do
- 9:06Speaker 1: a better job of embracing the affordability issue that people
- 9:11Speaker 1: are feeling. It could be perception, it could be not reality. Yes,
- 9:15Speaker 1: inflation is lower than it was under Biden. Yeah, the
- 9:18Speaker 1: stock market is soaring. But nonetheless, tell that to the
- 9:22Speaker 1: to the single mom who's trying to go to the
- 9:25Speaker 1: grocery store on a Friday night. Tell that to somebody
- 9:28Speaker 1: who is trying to get a new mortgage. And they're
- 9:30Speaker 1: looking again now inching back up to seven seven percent,
- 9:34Speaker 1: seven and a half percent, And and he's right, I
- 9:37Speaker 1: don't know that they're crazy. Is going to be enough?
- 9:41Speaker 1: It ought to be, I mean, because it is. I mean,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I love the messaging Mike Rogers has out of out
- 9:46Speaker 1: of Michigan. His messaging is, look, there's a home for
- 9:53Speaker 1: you with us if you each worried about.
- 9:55Speaker 2: But you got to Democrats who are freaked out by
- 9:56Speaker 2: Abdullah say to say listen.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And he should. That's a great approach, and he's a
- 10:01Speaker 1: smart candidate and he's a good candidate. But look, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: we can't afford to get distracted either. I mean, my goodness,
- 10:08Speaker 1: there's such an ability to go down these rabbit holes.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you not to not to not
- 10:14Speaker 1: to you know, punt here on your on your appropriate question.
- 10:18Speaker 1: But I'm reading about this whole McKinney, Texas Council approving
- 10:23Speaker 1: unanimously the mosque site plan. A bunch of residents lined
- 10:27Speaker 1: up and said, we can't do this. Here comes your
- 10:29Speaker 1: real law. And you know, I want to get a
- 10:33Speaker 1: guy in my life like you who's a pretty big
- 10:36Speaker 1: voice of reason. I'm not going to pretend that Muslims
- 10:39Speaker 1: don't exist, nor do they not have a right to worship.
- 10:43Speaker 1: So evidently the McKinney Council said seven to nothing that
- 10:46Speaker 1: this big, huge complex and there gets big apparently a
- 10:50Speaker 1: mosque and a gym and a this and a that.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Do you have a problem? Are you having any problems
- 10:55Speaker 1: with it? I mean, what do you say.
- 10:57Speaker 2: To like like all of these the problem is potential,
- 11:01Speaker 2: it's real up to a point already. But you project
- 11:04Speaker 2: forward and you see what Islam does in Europe and
- 11:08Speaker 2: Minnesota and say, WHOA, that can't be us. So at
- 11:12Speaker 2: that meeting where like by eighty twenty, if not ninety ten,
- 11:15Speaker 2: the crowd rose up vocally and said not just no,
- 11:19Speaker 2: but blank no to this mosque expansion in McKinney. They
- 11:24Speaker 2: just made clear what their wishes were, and then the
- 11:27Speaker 2: council unanimously approved it. They were looking at it through
- 11:31Speaker 2: different lenses. The people gathered there were looking at the
- 11:35Speaker 2: dark potential future of an unbridled Islamist wave changing the
- 11:40Speaker 2: culture and the politics and the governance of Texas, while
- 11:45Speaker 2: the members of the council viewed as as purely procedural.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Did the folks planning this mosque dot the eyes, cross
- 11:52Speaker 2: the t's, did they do things by the book? They
- 11:54Speaker 2: pretty well did. So they couldn't find a reason to
- 11:58Speaker 2: say no to it. And maybe they feared being branded
- 12:01Speaker 2: as Islamophobic. Maybe they feared being sued. They probably would
- 12:05Speaker 2: have been, but it was kind of a bureaucratic, clinical
- 12:10Speaker 2: way of looking at it rather than the real world.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Look outside the windows, look, look what's going on kind
- 12:16Speaker 2: of way that the crowd looked at it.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It's I think cooler heads need to prevail. And I do,
- 12:21Speaker 1: again believe that we have to acknowledge that Muslims have
- 12:25Speaker 1: a right to worship in America. And look, there's but
- 12:29Speaker 1: there is this creeping belief, there is this deeping, deepening,
- 12:34Speaker 1: widespread belief. I would argue that there's sort of a takeover,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you know, And and I don't I don't know that
- 12:42Speaker 1: I can connect those dots I try. I'm trying to
- 12:44Speaker 1: hear all sides of this. And now you've got people
- 12:48Speaker 1: like you know this alsa'id who you know, ascending you know,
- 12:52Speaker 1: potentially to the US Senate. Although I can't believe the
- 12:56Speaker 1: people that are going to vote for this guy and.
- 12:58Speaker 2: He's going to win. I like Mike Rodgers' chance, like his.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I do too well, but you also and I talked
- 13:03Speaker 1: to a colleague of ours. I was talking to our
- 13:05Speaker 1: buddy Hugh Hewett over the weekend, and Hughes said, I
- 13:09Speaker 1: hope Mark Mark Davis's confidence in Paxton is is well
- 13:14Speaker 1: placed and legit.
- 13:16Speaker 2: And I see is if my state has its act together.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I believe in my state. I believe in Republican voters,
- 13:22Speaker 2: and I believe my state is not going to elevate
- 13:25Speaker 2: somebody with views as radical and unhinged as well heretical
- 13:29Speaker 2: as little Jimmy.
- 13:31Speaker 1: You know what it's going to come down to, As always,
- 13:33Speaker 1: it's what it comes down to, every single time you're
- 13:36Speaker 1: going to show up or aren't you show up to vote.
- 13:38Speaker 1: We'll be all right. If you stay home, we're dead
- 13:40Speaker 1: in the water and this country is going to be gone.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Speaking of dead in the water, final thought. I mean, boy,
- 13:46Speaker 1: they didn't seem to want to save the Republic, but
- 13:49Speaker 1: they wanted to go on vacation in the Senate. They're out,
- 13:51Speaker 1: They're gone, no Save America Act. And that's turn and
- 13:55Speaker 1: that's disus feel great. So we have much the chronicle.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Let's do it in we do on the podcast. How
- 14:00Speaker 1: about hey happened? How about a podcast? I why don't
- 14:03Speaker 1: we keep kicking around on a podcast or.
- 14:05Speaker 2: One of those? I think we can. There's much more
- 14:06Speaker 2: to say, There's always there's a little something extra. One
- 14:08Speaker 2: could say, see you then
