- 0:06Speaker 2: Good morning from the fourth day of Seahawks training camp
- 0:09Speaker 2: at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center. Headlines brought to you
- 0:11Speaker 2: by Frostbrew Corsel Like Choo's Chill, Those Mariners and limped
- 0:17Speaker 2: out of Texas, losers of three of four in the
- 0:19Speaker 2: Big Series against the first place Ranger for the AO
- 0:21Speaker 2: West lead. George Kirby picked a bad time to allow
- 0:25Speaker 2: four home runs and most of his career second most
- 0:27Speaker 2: in Mariner's history, allowed to buy a pitcher in one game.
- 0:31Speaker 2: EMS lose three out of four, including the finale Los Angeles.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Now for three games in Dodger Stadium and getting tonight
- 0:37Speaker 2: Luis Castillo starting seven to ten first pitch against the
- 0:41Speaker 2: World champs in LA. The Seahawks waived often injured Kenny
- 0:45Speaker 2: McIntosh as if he was recovering from reconstructive knee surgery
- 0:49Speaker 2: from an injury twelve months ago out on this field.
- 0:53Speaker 2: They did the move on McIntosh, cut him a couple
- 0:55Speaker 2: hours after. Emmanuel Wilson, the free agent running back they
- 0:57Speaker 2: signed from Green Bay this offseason, ran with the start
- 0:59Speaker 2: offense for the first time in training camp third practice.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It was rookie first round draft choice Jadarian Price's best
- 1:07Speaker 2: day yet. He made a cut oft of a wheel
- 1:09Speaker 2: route on Erness Jones for a touchdown catch a veteran
- 1:11Speaker 2: called a hell of a move that stories at the
- 1:13Speaker 2: Newstribune dot com. We're gonna talk more about that and
- 1:15Speaker 2: tons more from camp here in a minute. Other camps,
- 1:18Speaker 2: the Vikings signed, Remember him, Jamal Adams. Vikings have signed
- 1:24Speaker 2: Jamal Adams on the eve of the Minnesota training camp start.
- 1:27Speaker 2: He still only thirty years old, played seventeen games, four
- 1:30Speaker 2: starts last year for Pete Carroll's Raiders. Of course, twenty
- 1:32Speaker 2: to twenty three very eventful seasons with the Seahawks, who
- 1:36Speaker 2: traded two first round picks and started Bradwyck McDougal for
- 1:39Speaker 2: the Jets to get the former All Pro safety. The
- 1:42Speaker 2: college sports and what might be the future of college sports,
- 1:44Speaker 2: Ohio State this morning announced a deal that Chase Bank,
- 1:48Speaker 2: based in New York City, is going to have a
- 1:50Speaker 2: logo on all Buckeyes team uniforms all sports. They're paying
- 1:54Speaker 2: the Buckeyes seventeen million dollars a year for the rights
- 1:57Speaker 2: to have Chase Bank on their informs as teams college
- 2:02Speaker 2: programs try to find more revenue to share with players.
- 2:05Speaker 2: It's probably gonna be a thing of the future, including
- 2:07Speaker 2: with the Washington Huskies. See what the Husky's doing response
- 2:11Speaker 2: to that, seventeen million dollars a year for a program
- 2:14Speaker 2: that already prints money at Ohio State. Now on with
- 2:17Speaker 2: the Tuesday Wednesday. What is this show? Tuesday, Greg Bell,
- 2:21Speaker 2: Jessmon McIntyre, as we are every weekday ten am to noon.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Jess went right next to me here at Seahawks training camp.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Jessin's got Travis. We got Travis moger Beck.
- 2:30Speaker 3: At the Travis no problem with that.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Happy to be here. Fourth day of Seahawks training camp.
- 2:37Speaker 2: News yesterday they cut Kenny McIntosh. We'll talk about why
- 2:42Speaker 2: they did that, when they did that, and what a
- 2:44Speaker 2: potential could mean for Kenny McIntosh down the road. We're
- 2:48Speaker 2: gonna talk about what I saw yesterday in that third
- 2:50Speaker 2: practice of camp, including how good defensive end Riley Mills
- 2:54Speaker 2: looks now that he's healthy. We remember Riley Mills, right,
- 2:56Speaker 2: He basically had a red shirt season last year. He
- 3:00Speaker 2: had reconstructive knee surgery that ended the knee injury that
- 3:03Speaker 2: ended his career at Notre Dame. In January of last year,
- 3:06Speaker 2: he had the surgery. The Seahawks draft him anyway in
- 3:09Speaker 2: the fifth round and then he didn't play until late December.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Last time. This time last year, he was bumming. He
- 3:14Speaker 2: was just watching training camp. Well, he's balling now, back
- 3:19Speaker 2: from surgery. Had his first career sack in the Super Bowl,
- 3:22Speaker 2: which is pretty cool, not to mention very impressive. And
- 3:26Speaker 2: now Riley Mills is full go in the defensive line
- 3:29Speaker 2: and man as he looked quick off the ball at
- 3:31Speaker 2: defensive end, sometimes sliding inside tackles his swim move off
- 3:34Speaker 2: the snap. He was living in the backfield yesterday at
- 3:37Speaker 2: ten twenty five. You're gonna hear from the Anthony Bell.
- 3:40Speaker 2: The Anthony Bell is an interesting story. He is the
- 3:43Speaker 2: man that is benefiting most right now from nick Emon
- 3:46Speaker 2: Worri's ankle surgery. The Anthony Bell was starting for the
- 3:50Speaker 2: Seahawks in December. He was cut by the Seahawks. He
- 3:54Speaker 2: was with Carolina Panthers to end last season. You'll hear
- 3:57Speaker 2: his story, including how he got a Super Bowl ring
- 3:59Speaker 2: from the Seahawks anyway, and it was with the Panthers
- 4:01Speaker 2: to end last season. You'll hear from him at ten
- 4:03Speaker 2: twenty five. We'll talk about the Mariners. Is their fall
- 4:07Speaker 2: from first place down to third now two and a
- 4:09Speaker 2: half back out of first place? Changing their plans for
- 4:12Speaker 2: the trade deadline? Should it change their plans for the deadlight?
- 4:15Speaker 2: Should be the baby sellers four nine four five one
- 4:18Speaker 2: that's coming tode TEXTA. That's my first question after the
- 4:20Speaker 2: text line? Should mayor just sell forget about adding a
- 4:25Speaker 2: right handed bat and a bullpen arm. No, it's two
- 4:29Speaker 2: and a half back third place. Just when says no, no,
- 4:31Speaker 2: we'll pack it up. No, absolutely not. It's only that's
- 4:36Speaker 2: my heart speaking. The trade deadline is Monday, August third.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Jered Depoto has a challenge. Now. There are reports rumors
- 4:45Speaker 2: that teams are interested in George Kirby, who absolutely did
- 4:49Speaker 2: not help himself or the team yesterday with four home
- 4:54Speaker 2: runs allowed. That's the second most runs home runs allowed
- 4:56Speaker 2: in a game ever by a Mariner starter. I mean,
- 4:58Speaker 2: we're talking about Mark Lang extending guys like that, who
- 5:00Speaker 2: will give up five? So George Kirby gives up five.
- 5:03Speaker 2: There's talk of Emerson Hancock being on teams list. We
- 5:06Speaker 2: talk about this surplus and Mariners pitchers in the fact
- 5:09Speaker 2: they want Louis Castillo and his salary to go away
- 5:12Speaker 2: more than anybody who did in Hancock.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's the talk of the town.
- 5:16Speaker 2: It would It's gonna have to take the poto eating
- 5:18Speaker 2: some of Castillo's thirty one million dollars he's over over
- 5:21Speaker 2: the next two years for it to even possibly happen.
- 5:24Speaker 2: But instead of eating money, would you trade your young guys?
- 5:28Speaker 2: That would be a ownership decision. To eat money ten
- 5:33Speaker 2: million plus maybe half maybe more of Castillo's salary in
- 5:36Speaker 2: the trade, or don't eat any money and trade away
- 5:40Speaker 2: one of your guys under club control, like George Kirby
- 5:42Speaker 2: or Emerson Hancock. Hmmm. Of course what you can get
- 5:46Speaker 2: in return will be a lot higher for Kirby and
- 5:48Speaker 2: Emerson Hancock four nine four five one In coma toadge
- 5:51Speaker 2: text one, what you think of all that? And whether
- 5:53Speaker 2: the Mariners should be sellers instead of buyers? At the
- 5:56Speaker 2: trade deadline at eleven o'clock, I'll sit down and talk
- 5:59Speaker 2: with Seahawks linebacker Derek hall Man. Is he got a
- 6:03Speaker 2: great backstore and how he's gotten here to where he is?
- 6:06Speaker 2: Born two pounds nine ounces at twenty three weeks, his
- 6:09Speaker 2: mother was told he was not going to live through
- 6:11Speaker 2: the birth, or even past a day or two past
- 6:14Speaker 2: the birth. He had brain bleeding, he was on a ventilator,
- 6:18Speaker 2: he was clinically dead at one point that he was
- 6:22Speaker 2: on a life support system as a newborn, and now
- 6:25Speaker 2: he's a forty six million dollar Super Bowl champion linebacker.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Unbelievable, Seriously, it was. Story is unbelievable, It truly is.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And he knows exactly what his mother has done for him,
- 6:37Speaker 2: raising him for that single momming and all of that.
- 6:42Speaker 2: He talks about his mother. We're going to talk to
- 6:44Speaker 2: him about his mother at eleven o'clock. You'll hear from
- 6:46Speaker 2: Derek Hall Alive with us on ninety three point three
- 6:49Speaker 2: KJRFM and eleven thirty year text and talk back again.
- 6:52Speaker 2: That Tookoma Dodge text nine four nine four to five
- 6:54Speaker 2: one and you're time to be a part of the
- 6:55Speaker 2: show before I fornasseill join us out here in his
- 6:58Speaker 2: show running from twelve three before Dave Softy Maler and
- 7:02Speaker 2: Hugh Millen at three to seven. By the way, Dave
- 7:06Speaker 2: Softy Maller and Hugh Mellen have not other than Sam
- 7:08Speaker 2: Donald on the show at three thirty today.
- 7:10Speaker 3: You don't say so.
- 7:12Speaker 2: We have a pretty good show behind up to after Donald.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Who Ian's got, We've got Derek Hall. Ian'll have someone
- 7:17Speaker 2: at around twelve o'clock Live and then at three thirty
- 7:21Speaker 2: live right when practice ends. Sam Donald, super Bowl winning quarterback,
- 7:24Speaker 2: will be with us on ninety five.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I'm excited to hear him because I know that he
- 7:29Speaker 4: has been on with Ian, but that was right after
- 7:31Speaker 4: he signed, and I have not heard him on a
- 7:34Speaker 4: live interview. I don't believe sitting down on our station
- 7:37Speaker 4: and that's going to be magnificent. It's going to be
- 7:40Speaker 4: so good.
- 7:41Speaker 2: He recently, I don't know if he'll talk to him
- 7:42Speaker 2: about it. San Clemente High School recently retired his jersey numbers. Yeah,
- 7:47Speaker 2: and some people in San Clemente say, well, finally, why
- 7:49Speaker 2: did it take you so long? But let's face it,
- 7:51Speaker 2: these are the two first two back to back successful
- 7:55Speaker 2: years that Sam Donald's had in his NFL career, and
- 7:59Speaker 2: he's still only twenty eight years old. He's in the
- 8:01Speaker 2: second year of a three year deal. I asked John
- 8:04Speaker 2: Schneider at the Combine in Indianapolis at the end of February, Well,
- 8:07Speaker 2: he just won you a Super Bowl. He's probably more
- 8:11Speaker 2: valuable than the middle fifteenth or so top paid quarterback
- 8:15Speaker 2: in the league. Let's say you about his contract. He
- 8:18Speaker 2: looked at me and said, Greg, you know he signed
- 8:19Speaker 2: a three year deal, right, He's only one year into
- 8:21Speaker 2: a three year deal. The implication being, we don't redo
- 8:24Speaker 2: deals with two years left on it. We'll do it
- 8:26Speaker 2: with one. And that's the standard time they get foundational
- 8:30Speaker 2: players redone like Devin Witherspoon's about to be like Jackson
- 8:34Speaker 2: Smith and Jigbo was going into his rookie contract ending
- 8:37Speaker 2: this year. Well, Sam Donald's time for that will be
- 8:40Speaker 2: next summer at this time. That's what we'll be talking
- 8:42Speaker 2: about with Sam Donald. But the implication being, wit, we're
- 8:45Speaker 2: not going to revisit this two years ahead. That's Sam
- 8:47Speaker 2: Donald coming up three thirty with Dave Softy Maller and
- 8:51Speaker 2: Hugh Millon. Hugh Millen was out here yesterday watching practice
- 8:54Speaker 2: with me. You didn't get to watch practice because you
- 8:57Speaker 2: were running around all over the place.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Yes, of us, But that's yeah, I did not get
- 9:01Speaker 4: to watch yesterday. But there's only so much that you
- 9:05Speaker 4: can see in training camp. What can we delineate from
- 9:08Speaker 4: these practices, greg the.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Running back situation at least looking at who's going where
- 9:14Speaker 2: in the starting lineup, and so far it's been George
- 9:17Speaker 2: Hallani number one. Jenarian Price, the number one draft pick,
- 9:22Speaker 2: thirty second pick in the draft, has been alternating with
- 9:24Speaker 2: the ones with him. Price continues to improve and grow
- 9:28Speaker 2: in the passing game. Yesterday I mentioned he had the
- 9:30Speaker 2: wheel route move on Ernest Jones, that Jones said that
- 9:33Speaker 2: was a hell of a move. He's good, man, is
- 9:35Speaker 2: what Jones said. He's gonna help us, and they are
- 9:39Speaker 2: really really focusing on pass catching and pass walking with Price.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Thomas Hammock, the new running backs coach, does that in drills.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I watch him do it every single day. He throws
- 9:48Speaker 2: a medicine, a weighted medicine ball at him, that Price
- 9:52Speaker 2: Parry's back as if he was hands shivering an on
- 9:55Speaker 2: rushing pass rusher. It's every day they've passed game. And
- 9:59Speaker 2: that's where Price says he has to improve the most.
- 10:00Speaker 2: It's what he did the least at Notre Dame because,
- 10:02Speaker 2: as we mentioned yesterday was the backup to Jeremiah I love,
- 10:05Speaker 2: the third pick in this year's draft. But then yesterday
- 10:08Speaker 2: Emmanuel Wilson emerged. He had been a clear number two
- 10:11Speaker 2: through OTA's and mini camp in the spring, and the
- 10:14Speaker 2: first two training camp practice is yesterday. He was starting,
- 10:18Speaker 2: or at least getting reps, alternating in with Halani and
- 10:21Speaker 2: Price with the starting offensive. The first time I've seen
- 10:24Speaker 2: him do that. He was a five hundred yard rusher
- 10:26Speaker 2: for Green Bay last year. They signed me to a
- 10:28Speaker 2: one year, very low risk salary, just above veteran minimum,
- 10:33Speaker 2: easy to cut. If he doesn't show, we're starting to show.
- 10:35Speaker 2: At least they're giving him a chance to show. And
- 10:37Speaker 2: right now, Jessman, they're in that pote pourri. Let's try
- 10:41Speaker 2: everybody rotating through at running back. But I will be
- 10:45Speaker 2: shocked if Jadarian Price is not the lead running back
- 10:48Speaker 2: starting on September ninth against the Patriots.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it would surprise me if he wasn't.
- 10:53Speaker 4: And obviously, like you said, you're always gonna check out
- 10:56Speaker 4: things and see how everything works. I mean, you go
- 10:59Speaker 4: all the way back to Russell Wilson's right here and
- 11:02Speaker 4: what happened there. We're going to see between him and
- 11:04Speaker 4: Matt Flynn, what is going to happen. I think that
- 11:08Speaker 4: he absolutely is and we'll see what Sharboney's health looks
- 11:13Speaker 4: like as we move forward with that, But if he
- 11:17Speaker 4: is your number one and you have Sharbonay coming back
- 11:20Speaker 4: mid season, if he can, then.
- 11:23Speaker 3: That looks like a pretty healthy running back room to me. Yes,
- 11:26Speaker 3: And you have Hallane Yes.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And Hallani has made it here and stuck as an
- 11:30Speaker 2: undrafted rookie from Boise State a couple of years ago.
- 11:33Speaker 2: This is now his third year because of his past
- 11:35Speaker 2: catching and pass blocking, so that's where he has the
- 11:37Speaker 2: advantage on Price right now. That's why they're working so
- 11:40Speaker 2: intensely with Price. The other development at running back yesterday
- 11:44Speaker 2: was Kenny McIntosh. And we saw out here standing next
- 11:47Speaker 2: to Charbonay watching the end of practices. The knee just
- 11:50Speaker 2: wasn't healing. It was a extensive injury that he got
- 11:54Speaker 2: twelve months ago early in last year's training camp. If
- 11:57Speaker 2: Travis has it, Here's what McDonald the coach said about
- 12:01Speaker 2: Kenny McIntosh's injury on Saturday before they decided to release him.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Kay, he's doing a great job too. No timetable.
- 12:08Speaker 7: You know, that was a tough injury. I know we're
- 12:10Speaker 7: going on almost a year now, but uh, that was that.
- 12:15Speaker 7: He was a really unfortunate injury for Kenny mack so,
- 12:18Speaker 7: but he's right there.
- 12:19Speaker 6: He's rehabbing, he's working hard.
- 12:22Speaker 2: He was rehabbing, but not at the pace to get
- 12:25Speaker 2: him back anytime soon. He was on the physical and
- 12:27Speaker 2: able to perform lists with Charbona because he was on
- 12:30Speaker 2: the pup list to begin training camp. There's a little
- 12:32Speaker 2: nuanced to the reason that they waved him out right
- 12:35Speaker 2: yesterday because he was still counting against the ninety man.
- 12:37Speaker 2: They didn't wave him with an injury designation. If he
- 12:40Speaker 2: was on injured reserve, they could have waived him with
- 12:42Speaker 2: an injury designation and then those usually have a set
- 12:45Speaker 2: time six weeks standard that after six weeks you get
- 12:49Speaker 2: an injury settlement payment and then you become a free
- 12:51Speaker 2: agent if you are deemed healthy enough to play and
- 12:53Speaker 2: sign with another team. But because he was still counting
- 12:56Speaker 2: against the roster, he was just waved and now he
- 13:00Speaker 2: he can because he was simply way be claimed by
- 13:03Speaker 2: another team unlikely because of his injury history, or if
- 13:07Speaker 2: he clears waivers, would become a free agent. But then
- 13:09Speaker 2: the issue becomes, of course, his health and when a
- 13:12Speaker 2: team would deem him healthy enough to play that he
- 13:14Speaker 2: could pass it physical and only then could he be
- 13:16Speaker 2: starting to begin work on anybody's training camp. But he's
- 13:20Speaker 2: still young enough Jessman that he could do that. I mean,
- 13:23Speaker 2: it's not if he's physically able to play, of course
- 13:26Speaker 2: to knee injury willing, but I mean it's not like
- 13:29Speaker 2: his career is about He's been twenty six years old
- 13:32Speaker 2: and he's barely played in his three seasons. So we
- 13:35Speaker 2: may not see the last of Kenny McIntosh in the NFL.
- 13:37Speaker 2: We probably have seen the last of them here in Seattle,
- 13:40Speaker 2: at least for now, although there is a possibility could
- 13:42Speaker 2: sign him back later in the season.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a big Kenny McIntosh fan. Obviously. I covered his.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Brother Dion during college and then got to talk to
- 13:51Speaker 4: both of them several times just because of that connection.
- 13:54Speaker 4: And I just like him and I think he has
- 13:57Speaker 4: all the potential in the world.
- 13:59Speaker 3: But that injury.
- 14:01Speaker 4: This is where I go to Susie sunshine side of it.
- 14:05Speaker 4: He has not been used. His body has not been
- 14:09Speaker 4: used due to those injuries, and if that can get healthy,
- 14:13Speaker 4: he hasn't been beat up in the rest of his
- 14:15Speaker 4: body just because he has had to sit out, but
- 14:18Speaker 4: he has still stayed healthy. Obviously, whatever you can do
- 14:21Speaker 4: while you're working out and rehabbing an injury, you can
- 14:24Speaker 4: get healthy. You can one hundred percent get back into
- 14:28Speaker 4: playing shape. And I know there's something to be said
- 14:30Speaker 4: for not being hit and taking that get in shape
- 14:34Speaker 4: away from it. But he has not been used and
- 14:37Speaker 4: abused on the field just because of the knee.
- 14:39Speaker 2: So Macintosh out, Emmanuel Wilson moving up to some one reps.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Halani and Price still one in one A so far
- 14:48Speaker 2: as the starting running backs with Zach Charbonnay on the
- 14:50Speaker 2: physically enable to performance. That's your running back situation currently
- 14:54Speaker 2: post Kenneth Walker for your Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Up next, we're gonna talk about nick Keemon Warri's ankle
- 15:01Speaker 2: surgery and the follow out from it. Who is benefiting most.
- 15:05Speaker 2: That's the Anthony Bell. You're gonna hear his story. You're
- 15:08Speaker 2: gonna hear Mike McDonald talk about Nick Emon Warri's surgery
- 15:11Speaker 2: and where he stands as far as possibly returning and
- 15:15Speaker 2: in the meantime. The Anthony Bell is a starter. You'll
- 15:17Speaker 2: hear from him next on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 15:30Speaker 8: Welcome back to ninety three point three KJR live from
- 15:33Speaker 8: the Seahawks training camp at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center
- 15:36Speaker 8: of Stride Lake, Washington and Renton, brought to you by
- 15:39Speaker 8: the Boeing Classic, where we're gonna be having another Senior
- 15:43Speaker 8: PGA cool event on the East suburbs of Seattle and
- 15:46Speaker 8: the Samnamis Plateau at the end of August.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Boeingclassic dot Com for all the information on that. Thanks
- 15:52Speaker 2: for sponsoring our six am to seven pm coverage every
- 15:56Speaker 2: week every practice day out here from the Virginia mas
- 15:59Speaker 2: Athletic Center of the Super Bowl champion Seahawks' training camp.
- 16:02Speaker 2: The news of the first day of training camp was
- 16:04Speaker 2: the fact NICKI mean Worry was not on the field
- 16:06Speaker 2: for it. He's out. He's on the physically unable to
- 16:09Speaker 2: perform list, as you know, because of arthroscopic ankle surgery
- 16:13Speaker 2: that he had this month before he reported a training
- 16:17Speaker 2: camp last week. Coach Mike McDonald said Saturday that he
- 16:22Speaker 2: had surgery to fix the lower sprain on his right
- 16:24Speaker 2: ankle that he sprained in practice four days before the
- 16:26Speaker 2: Super Bowl in February. The coach said it's not a
- 16:28Speaker 2: long term thing, and I asked the coach he expects
- 16:31Speaker 2: Ema worried to play in the open September ninth against
- 16:33Speaker 2: New England. He said, I don't know Emon worry would
- 16:37Speaker 2: have been ye practicing from the start for the September
- 16:41Speaker 2: ninth opener without this injury in surgery. He thought he
- 16:44Speaker 2: was practicing all of OTA's in mini camp, so he
- 16:47Speaker 2: thought he would be ready to okay, but it wasn't healing.
- 16:50Speaker 2: The ankle wasn't healing to the point that he thought
- 16:52Speaker 2: he could go out every day and practice. And so
- 16:55Speaker 2: here we are. He's on the physical and able to
- 16:56Speaker 2: perform list and come back at any time.
- 16:58Speaker 4: I think one of the things that we have talked
- 17:00Speaker 4: about extensively, but to reset for the listeners is the
- 17:03Speaker 4: fact that he that.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Does not designate him to not be able to play.
- 17:10Speaker 4: You need to tell the listeners once again that this
- 17:13Speaker 4: is not an emergency screen.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah. The pluplist rules for if you're to start a
- 17:17Speaker 2: training camp at pupp you can come back at any
- 17:19Speaker 2: time that you pass a physical from the team. If
- 17:22Speaker 2: you're on the pup list throughout training camp, don't come back.
- 17:25Speaker 2: You are eligible to be on the pupp list to
- 17:27Speaker 2: begin in the regular season, which means you'd have to
- 17:29Speaker 2: miss the minimum the first four games. That's a situation
- 17:31Speaker 2: that Zach Charbonnay could find himself in if he doesn't
- 17:34Speaker 2: come back any time during training camp. Savonny's situation much different.
- 17:38Speaker 2: He had the reconstructive surgery on his knee in February,
- 17:42Speaker 2: so only a relatively short time ago, five months ago,
- 17:45Speaker 2: compared to the arthroscopic, non invasive surgery with a laser
- 17:50Speaker 2: and a pencil point. So that's different. And this is
- 17:53Speaker 2: McDonald talked about this not being a long term thing
- 17:56Speaker 2: with even worry on Saturday, even.
- 17:59Speaker 6: Or you expective in the opener though I don't know.
- 18:03Speaker 6: I mean you said yeah, I mean like, uh, could
- 18:06Speaker 6: he play in the opener?
- 18:09Speaker 2: I know he could, Sure.
- 18:11Speaker 6: You could play in the opener? You expect I don't know.
- 18:20Speaker 2: So McDonald's saying I don't know is really a nod
- 18:23Speaker 2: toward not wanting to put pressure on the kid. He's
- 18:25Speaker 2: still only twenty two years old, he's only in his
- 18:27Speaker 2: second year. The star is Loune. So without em and worry,
- 18:35Speaker 2: who are Mike? Who's Mike McDonald turning to for that
- 18:39Speaker 2: dual role of being a linebacker when they bring extra
- 18:42Speaker 2: defensive backs on the field and a safety moving up
- 18:44Speaker 2: to be basically a SAM four three linebacker. It's d
- 18:47Speaker 2: Anthony Bell. He's a bigger safety six one two eleven.
- 18:51Speaker 2: He's about two inches shorter and nine pounds lighter than
- 18:54Speaker 2: is even ware Let's face it, he's not Nick even worried.
- 18:56Speaker 2: They didn't. I don't know if anyone in the league
- 18:59Speaker 2: has the skills already that Nick even Worey has the
- 19:01Speaker 2: way McDonald utilizes him. But it is something of a
- 19:05Speaker 2: familiar role. D' anthony Bell was telling me about this
- 19:09Speaker 2: safety coming down in the box as a big nickel
- 19:11Speaker 2: and being a tackler against the run. That's what he's doing.
- 19:13Speaker 2: He's basically doing Emon Worri's job in a hybrid role
- 19:16Speaker 2: of safety to linebacker in a big nickel. He was
- 19:20Speaker 2: played fourteen games, mostly on special teams last year for
- 19:23Speaker 2: the Seahawks. How much did he want to play for
- 19:25Speaker 2: the Seahawks? The Cleveland Browns where he played the first
- 19:27Speaker 2: three years, and he started a handful of games over
- 19:30Speaker 2: those three seasons at safety. The Browns offered him more
- 19:33Speaker 2: money before last season than Seattle did, yet he chose
- 19:37Speaker 2: less money to come to the Seahawks. Because he thought
- 19:38Speaker 2: he had a better chance to win. He was proven
- 19:40Speaker 2: right there. He played fourteen games only eleven percent of
- 19:44Speaker 2: the defensive snaps, though so mainly a special teams player.
- 19:47Speaker 2: John Schneider did what he did with a lot of
- 19:49Speaker 2: players last year to make a seventy man team beyond
- 19:52Speaker 2: the fifty three to include the seventeen man practice squad.
- 19:56Speaker 2: He passed a lot of players on and off waivers,
- 19:59Speaker 2: because when you activated a player to play for a
- 20:02Speaker 2: regular season game off the practice squad, you didn't have
- 20:04Speaker 2: to pass him back through waivers to sign him back
- 20:06Speaker 2: onto the practice squad. He did that nine times with
- 20:09Speaker 2: the Anthony Bell last year. Well on the ninth time
- 20:12Speaker 2: at the end of December, the Carolina Panthers claimed him
- 20:15Speaker 2: right after the Seahawks played the Panthers in Charlotte. A
- 20:18Speaker 2: few days later. The Seahawks waived them trying to get
- 20:20Speaker 2: him on the practice squad, and for the first time
- 20:22Speaker 2: in nine of those type of transactions, the Panthers claimed him.
- 20:26Speaker 2: He actually played the NFL NFC Wildcard game for the
- 20:29Speaker 2: Panthers against the Rams while the Seahawks were preparing to
- 20:33Speaker 2: play San Francisco the following week. In the Divisional playoffs.
- 20:37Speaker 2: So by the time the Panthers were eliminated from the playoffs,
- 20:39Speaker 2: the Anthony Bell came back to his home that he
- 20:41Speaker 2: had found during the season here in Seattle and watched
- 20:44Speaker 2: the Super Bowl and watched the Seahawks buddies play the
- 20:46Speaker 2: Super Bowl from his Seattle home while they were down
- 20:48Speaker 2: in Santa Clara winning the Super Bowl without him. He's
- 20:51Speaker 2: texting them. It was a very odd situation. This was
- 20:55Speaker 2: the Anthony Bell. You'll hear from him about that and
- 20:57Speaker 2: more right here.
- 21:00Speaker 9: Bitter sweet, you know, Uh, the bitter part about it
- 21:03Speaker 9: being that, you know, leaving a Super Bowl contending team,
- 21:06Speaker 9: and then the sweet part is knowing that you know
- 21:07Speaker 9: somebody else does see or telling enough to pick you up.
- 21:10Speaker 9: So there was a bittersweet moment. And you know, I
- 21:12Speaker 9: wasn't changing for nothing, and I wish those guys the
- 21:14Speaker 9: best the whole time. So I was still room for
- 21:17Speaker 9: them because I've been here all year.
- 21:18Speaker 2: So you did the practice squad think a few times
- 21:21Speaker 2: last year when they released you in the December, they
- 21:24Speaker 2: probably told you we're trying to get from the practice squad. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 2: I was.
- 21:27Speaker 9: I was actually here at the facility when Carolina. So
- 21:30Speaker 9: I was coming back in to sign back on the
- 21:32Speaker 9: practice squad. So but then they called and told me
- 21:34Speaker 9: that I got picked up by Carolina.
- 21:36Speaker 2: When when Carolina signed you, did the see say anything
- 21:39Speaker 2: to you or they didn't?
- 21:41Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 21:41Speaker 9: Yeah, well, I you know, I talked to a couple
- 21:42Speaker 9: of coaches and it was like, dang, you know, we
- 21:44Speaker 9: hate that happened because we wanted to sign you back.
- 21:46Speaker 9: You know, it was just a couple of roster moves
- 21:47Speaker 9: that had to happen. So you know, it's just one
- 21:49Speaker 9: of those situations where business is business.
- 21:51Speaker 6: So and they and the Carolina cut you January.
- 21:57Speaker 9: Right right, Yeah, yeah, right after the season. We actually
- 21:59Speaker 9: we have.
- 21:59Speaker 2: To be least you did over there.
- 22:01Speaker 5: So yeah, okay, that was a situation.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Did you actually be released in the hope to get
- 22:04Speaker 2: back here? Was that the goal or did you at
- 22:06Speaker 2: the time?
- 22:06Speaker 9: Yeah, that was the goal for sure, to try to
- 22:08Speaker 9: get back here on the team.
- 22:09Speaker 6: Always you wanted to come back here, of course.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Of course, if you ever talked to your agent last year,
- 22:14Speaker 2: I think he told me correct, I'm wrong that you
- 22:16Speaker 2: actually took less money to come The Browns.
- 22:18Speaker 9: Gave you a richer offer this Yeah, yeah, the Browns
- 22:21Speaker 9: gave me a higher offer to come here my first
- 22:23Speaker 9: year coming here, they gave me a higher offer. But
- 22:25Speaker 9: I felt like, you know, iurady new coach Jeff from
- 22:27Speaker 9: being with him with the Browns and the opportunity of
- 22:30Speaker 9: building a family, a foundation of a good team, and
- 22:33Speaker 9: I just chose to come here and say.
- 22:35Speaker 2: And now, yesterday I looked like you were playing the
- 22:37Speaker 2: hybrid sam linebacker. Yeah, yeah, is that new for you?
- 22:40Speaker 2: How much have you done there?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Now?
- 22:41Speaker 2: It's not new?
- 22:42Speaker 9: So I played That's why all last year I did that.
- 22:44Speaker 9: I did the same position. You know, I was doing
- 22:46Speaker 9: a little bit of all of safety dime, you know,
- 22:49Speaker 9: big nickels. So it's not new.
- 22:50Speaker 2: What kind of opportunity is this with FEMA are down now?
- 22:53Speaker 9: For I would say it's about the same as last year,
- 22:56Speaker 9: you know, just get better at the position, get better
- 22:58Speaker 9: and get more trust you know as far as teammates
- 23:00Speaker 9: to getting everybody to trust me more and uh more
- 23:02Speaker 9: opportunities to do my job.
- 23:04Speaker 6: The right way and learn How much further ahead ago?
- 23:07Speaker 9: Oh definitely way for then you know, the second year
- 23:09Speaker 9: in the defense, I'm way further ahead than I it
- 23:10Speaker 9: was before. But you know that that's what comes to
- 23:12Speaker 9: being in the defense the second year.
- 23:14Speaker 6: So so where did where did you watch the Super
- 23:15Speaker 6: Bowl from?
- 23:16Speaker 11: Oh?
- 23:16Speaker 6: I watched it.
- 23:17Speaker 9: I was here actually, yeah, yeah, because I still had
- 23:19Speaker 9: my place here, so I was here. I was watching
- 23:21Speaker 9: the super Bowl. And then I had talked to them
- 23:22Speaker 9: boys after the super Bowl, so yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 23:25Speaker 9: was reaching out.
- 23:25Speaker 2: To them and you gotta and you gotta ring it everything.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Yeah I did get a ring.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Yeah what did that mean you?
- 23:29Speaker 9: Oh, I meant a lot. You know, growing up playing football,
- 23:31Speaker 9: that's all you dream of is winning the Super Bowl.
- 23:33Speaker 9: That's like the biggest accomplishment when it comes to football.
- 23:36Speaker 9: So that was a big accomplishment for me.
- 23:38Speaker 2: But they didn't have to do that, right, you know,
- 23:39Speaker 2: they didn't have to.
- 23:40Speaker 9: They didn't have to what they chose to.
- 23:41Speaker 2: So was that a player as you understood it, that's
- 23:44Speaker 2: a player vote, right? Yeah?
- 23:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm not I'm not sure if it's a player
- 23:47Speaker 9: vote or not. But you know, they reached out to
- 23:48Speaker 9: my agent and said I'll be getting the ring. So
- 23:49Speaker 9: I was super excited about that.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and you said you asked to be released by Carolina, Like, okay,
- 23:56Speaker 1: did they know that or what was the reaction Carolina's reaction.
- 23:59Speaker 9: Yeah, well, I mean, and I think it was pretty
- 24:01Speaker 9: obvious that it's like, I mean, I came here for
- 24:03Speaker 9: I was on there for a week, you know what
- 24:04Speaker 9: I'm saying. So right after I was like, yeah, if
- 24:06Speaker 9: you guys can release me, you know, I had my
- 24:07Speaker 9: age to reach out.
- 24:08Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:09Speaker 9: It's nothing to disrespect them or the organization. I love
- 24:12Speaker 9: what they're doing there, and it's it's good for them,
- 24:14Speaker 9: but it was just what's best for me.
- 24:16Speaker 2: They released If I remember they released you the week
- 24:18Speaker 2: that The Sea played in Carolina, they.
- 24:22Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, they really didn't ask me nothing about so,
- 24:25Speaker 9: I mean, I'm not sure why they hit me up,
- 24:28Speaker 9: but you know, it's just one of those things that happened.
- 24:29Speaker 2: So this defense, I talked to you last year about
- 24:33Speaker 2: the physicality, especially how much does that fit exactly how
- 24:37Speaker 2: you want to play?
- 24:38Speaker 9: How much it fit a lot? You know, I love
- 24:40Speaker 9: being physical, and then especially being in the big Nickels spot,
- 24:42Speaker 9: and I'll get more reps at that spot. There's a
- 24:44Speaker 9: lot of opportunity to put hands on fullbacks, tight ends,
- 24:47Speaker 9: you know, old linemen. So it's it's a lot of
- 24:48Speaker 9: opportunities to be physical. You know, and I love the
- 24:51Speaker 9: stuff that we do here. We do a lot of
- 24:52Speaker 9: different things and just knowing different positions and this position
- 24:55Speaker 9: defense just makes you more valuable. So it's it's helpful
- 24:58Speaker 9: for me.
- 24:58Speaker 2: And how much did you spe teams work with Jay
- 25:01Speaker 2: Harve out here help you there's an overall player and
- 25:03Speaker 2: how he raided?
- 25:04Speaker 9: Oh yeah, helped me a lot. You know, Jay taught
- 25:06Speaker 9: me a lot of stuff because he's a super smart coach,
- 25:08Speaker 9: you know what I'm saying. So he'll he'll tell you
- 25:10Speaker 9: things that you wouldn't think about seeing during the game time.
- 25:12Speaker 9: So we'll we'll meet and he'll tell me something. I'm like,
- 25:15Speaker 9: you know what, I wouldn't thought about that by myself.
- 25:16Speaker 9: So having him in my corner the whole year I
- 25:18Speaker 9: was here to helped me a lot.
- 25:20Speaker 2: What were some things he taught you that maybe.
- 25:23Speaker 9: For example, one when we had the thing with the Saints,
- 25:26Speaker 9: you know, he had went back and watched film when
- 25:28Speaker 9: I blocked the point we wouldn't. He went back and
- 25:29Speaker 9: watched film probably years ago when they did the same
- 25:31Speaker 9: formation and somebody was close to getting the block, and
- 25:33Speaker 9: he was like, you know, if you line up in
- 25:35Speaker 9: this spot, just take a B line right to the
- 25:36Speaker 9: punter and nobody will touch you. And I'm like, and
- 25:38Speaker 9: somebody got to touch me. It ain't no way I'm
- 25:40Speaker 9: gonna come that free. But it happened. I did come
- 25:42Speaker 9: that free, and I blocked the point. So I told him.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I was like, well, you're right.
- 25:44Speaker 9: You know, I trusted you, and he was right, and
- 25:46Speaker 9: I made the play.
- 25:50Speaker 2: That's that's de Anthony Bell. He's now in the Nickymun
- 25:54Speaker 2: worry spot while even worried recovers from his arthroscopic ankle
- 25:58Speaker 2: surgery's playing the hybrid big nickel role that Mike McDonald
- 26:02Speaker 2: uses in extra defensive backs. As you heard him, he said,
- 26:05Speaker 2: he likes to play in the box as a safety.
- 26:07Speaker 2: That's six one and two eleven. It was interesting to me, Jesson.
- 26:12Speaker 2: It spoke to the culture of the Seahawks that Mike
- 26:15Speaker 2: McDonald's built over two short years here. That they voted.
- 26:18Speaker 2: They I did check. It was a player's vote. I
- 26:21Speaker 2: talked to Julian Love and others about it. They voted
- 26:23Speaker 2: for him, the Anthony Bell to get a Super Bowl
- 26:26Speaker 2: ring even though he played fourteen games and finished the
- 26:30Speaker 2: season with the Carolina Panthers, and as he said, he didn't.
- 26:33Speaker 3: I loved that so much. I love that so much.
- 26:35Speaker 2: That's culture it is, and that the guy's texting him
- 26:40Speaker 2: during the super Bowl week and after the super Bowl
- 26:43Speaker 2: and they said they love said that they were really
- 26:47Speaker 2: broken up. And even Mike McDonald said he was bombed
- 26:50Speaker 2: to use his word when the Panthers claimed him because
- 26:53Speaker 2: they liked Bell so much enough that they gave him
- 26:55Speaker 2: a Super Bowl ring even though he wasn't on the
- 26:56Speaker 2: team and the loan behold. They sign him back in
- 26:59Speaker 2: March to get.
- 27:00Speaker 3: A second writing was apparently on the wall.
- 27:02Speaker 2: And he asked for the release from the Panthers to
- 27:05Speaker 2: get back to the Seahawks. And again, remember he signed
- 27:08Speaker 2: with Seattle. A lot of NFL players in the mid
- 27:10Speaker 2: twenties don't do this. He signed with Seattle for less
- 27:13Speaker 2: money than the Browns were offering, and he wanted to
- 27:16Speaker 2: go to Seattle instead of staying in Cleveland, where he'd
- 27:18Speaker 2: been his first three years, because he thought it was
- 27:20Speaker 2: a better chance to win. And he was sure right
- 27:22Speaker 2: about that. But yes, the culture that Mike McDonald has
- 27:25Speaker 2: put in this locker room permeates all kinds of things,
- 27:29Speaker 2: including d' anthony Bell, including him getting a Super Bowl
- 27:32Speaker 2: ring when he didn't have to. That ring, by the way,
- 27:34Speaker 2: is pretty impressed.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. I got to see it and I
- 27:37Speaker 3: was blown away. I'm like, can you not blind me today?
- 27:40Speaker 3: Thank you? And you might ret nose.
- 27:44Speaker 4: No, It's gorgeous and I feel like the designing also
- 27:47Speaker 4: the presentation was amazing as well. It also speaks to
- 27:51Speaker 4: how well Jody Allen had really taken over this team.
- 27:56Speaker 4: It seems like something that Paul Allen would do as well,
- 28:00Speaker 4: but she just stayed right in stride with that. It
- 28:03Speaker 4: was it was awesome and it was you guys earned it.
- 28:07Speaker 2: That was her last act as a Seahawks effectively, it
- 28:10Speaker 2: was before she ended up selling the team to the
- 28:12Speaker 2: Cosal family again. August twenty sixth is the NFL owner's
- 28:16Speaker 2: vote on the Seahawks sale to the Coasal family for
- 28:20Speaker 2: nine point six billion dollars. That'll be the second highest
- 28:23Speaker 2: sale in North American sports history behind the Lakers for
- 28:26Speaker 2: ten billion. And did Anthony get Bell got one of
- 28:29Speaker 2: Jody Allen's designed commissioned at Super Bowl rings even though
- 28:34Speaker 2: he didn't finish the last season with the Seahawks four nine,
- 28:38Speaker 2: four to five to one. Your My question for you is,
- 28:41Speaker 2: and I mentioned it a little bit yesterday as well,
- 28:44Speaker 2: of all the players and things and issues you're going
- 28:46Speaker 2: to hear about during this training camp for the next
- 28:48Speaker 2: five plus weeks, what's the one you're more most interested?
- 28:52Speaker 2: What's the player? What's the issue is that the lead
- 28:55Speaker 2: running back situation is that Sam Darnold. Can he return
- 28:59Speaker 2: the way he was last year? Cutting down on turnovers,
- 29:03Speaker 2: for instance, would be job one for Donald. Think about it.
- 29:06Speaker 2: As good as they were becoming a super Bowl team
- 29:09Speaker 2: and going what sixteen and four sixteen, what did they
- 29:13Speaker 2: end up being seventeen and three over twenty.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Years touching the whole game?
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah, playoffs? If Sam Donald doesn't turn them all over
- 29:20Speaker 2: an NFL hid twenty times, how much better can they
- 29:23Speaker 2: be on offense? If he cuts down even to fifteen turnovers,
- 29:27Speaker 2: that's five fewer times the defense is put in a
- 29:29Speaker 2: disadvantageous position and the offense is not in a position
- 29:32Speaker 2: to score because your quarterback gave the way the ball. Again.
- 29:35Speaker 2: They lost twenty one nineteen to the Rams, the only
- 29:37Speaker 2: one of the three games they played against the Rams,
- 29:38Speaker 2: and they lost when their quarterback threw four interceptions. They
- 29:41Speaker 2: lost twenty one nineteen on a field in the last minute, right,
- 29:44Speaker 2: last second, right, they just went a few yards wide
- 29:46Speaker 2: and short from sixty one yards and Jason Myers, that
- 29:49Speaker 2: was the game, Jessman that the Seahawks players tell us,
- 29:54Speaker 2: that's when they knew Sam Donald was a dog, that
- 29:56Speaker 2: that guy can lead us to a super Bowl. When
- 29:58Speaker 2: they went toe to toe with of Rams and lost
- 30:01Speaker 2: by a fraction a couple of yards of a field
- 30:04Speaker 2: goal at sixty one yards of the buzzer after their
- 30:07Speaker 2: quarterback through four interceptions that day.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Yeah, and I still remember Ernest Jones, Yeah, exactly, And
- 30:14Speaker 4: it is one of my favorite things ever too, because
- 30:16Speaker 4: you know, you got a guy on the defensive side
- 30:18Speaker 4: of the ball, but that is a team that is
- 30:20Speaker 4: just going to back up everyone, you know, some some
- 30:23Speaker 4: defensive players and I'm not inside that locker room, might
- 30:26Speaker 4: get a little peeved in that situation having to go
- 30:29Speaker 4: back out there even though they're gonna have their guy, right,
- 30:32Speaker 4: And it was nope.
- 30:34Speaker 2: When when Jones so the way that happened in Inglewood
- 30:37Speaker 2: after the game, it was twenty one nineteen four interceptions
- 30:39Speaker 2: by Donald, I'm standing.
- 30:40Speaker 3: There receptions and they lost by two points.
- 30:42Speaker 2: After Donald let them off their own goal line into
- 30:45Speaker 2: position for the winning points at the final minute without
- 30:48Speaker 2: any timeouts. After the game, Donald spoke for excuse me,
- 30:53Speaker 2: Ernest Jones spoke first before Sam Donald and when Jone.
- 30:57Speaker 2: That's when Jones famously uttered, anyone that has a problem
- 31:00Speaker 2: with my quarterback, f you, yeah, except he didn't say
- 31:03Speaker 2: f His hammer's rolling on everything. Became a folk hero
- 31:06Speaker 2: for it, he says. Now he gets noticed all over
- 31:08Speaker 2: the Seattle arey.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Can't go out even, he said at the Super Bowl parade, Well,
- 31:13Speaker 4: he must be weird as just a person going around
- 31:16Speaker 4: getting groceries and people yelling bleep you.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Yeah, he's saying, like a good way, he said. People
- 31:23Speaker 2: want to pose for selfies and pictures with him holding
- 31:25Speaker 2: up the middle finger. Y's now his signature in Seattle
- 31:28Speaker 2: because of that uttering. Well, when he was done saying that,
- 31:32Speaker 2: we all chuckled. We all led with it in our story.
- 31:34Speaker 2: He comes off of the podium and then Sam Donald's
- 31:38Speaker 2: coming on to talk and they passed each other about
- 31:40Speaker 2: three feet to the left of me where I was standing,
- 31:43Speaker 2: and Jones. Donald did not hear what he had said.
- 31:45Speaker 2: I was going to ask that he just had and
- 31:47Speaker 2: Jones turned to him and said, I got you, Doug.
- 31:50Speaker 2: That's all he said. And then we came up Donald.
- 31:53Speaker 2: You could tell you he didn't quite know what Jones had
- 31:55Speaker 2: just said to us. And then the report all this said, well,
- 31:58Speaker 2: you're middle linebacker just said this value, Well, how does
- 32:00Speaker 2: that make you feel? And the rest was history on
- 32:03Speaker 2: legend of Ernest Jones was born so much, I would submit,
- 32:09Speaker 2: I told the guys on King five this morning on
- 32:12Speaker 2: their Ultimate Sports podcast show that just is airing right
- 32:15Speaker 2: now in Kong. I told him this morning, I think
- 32:17Speaker 2: Ernest Jones is right there with Devin Witherspoon as maybe
- 32:20Speaker 2: the most important players on the team, and that includes
- 32:23Speaker 2: Sam Donald, That includes anybody Jackson Smith and Jigmin Cooper
- 32:26Speaker 2: Cup because of things like that, what he did for
- 32:30Speaker 2: Sam Donald with the locker room responded to that, where
- 32:33Speaker 2: that Donald and the offense took that from there beating
- 32:36Speaker 2: the Rams to the next two times they played. Ernest
- 32:39Speaker 2: Jones is the ultimate middle linebacker for Mike McDonald's defense. Remember,
- 32:45Speaker 2: they traded, they cut Dotson, they traded Baker in the
- 32:48Speaker 2: middle of the season. They traded their two inside linebackers
- 32:51Speaker 2: at midway through McDonald's first season of twenty twenty four
- 32:54Speaker 2: and traded for Ernest Jones specifically for that kind of leadership,
- 32:59Speaker 2: the fact that he when he hits guys that go
- 33:01Speaker 2: straight to the ground and not get drag five or
- 33:03Speaker 2: six yards like Dotsam was getting. He's a prickall he is.
- 33:06Speaker 2: And the ability to on a fly change defenses. Mike
- 33:12Speaker 2: McDonald's defense, they utter one word commands right before the
- 33:15Speaker 2: snap to confuse the offense. They might say blue, or
- 33:19Speaker 2: they might say Daytona, or they might say they might
- 33:22Speaker 2: say anything, and that one word jumps them into a
- 33:26Speaker 2: new formation, a blitz attack, a new coverage, everyone moving
- 33:30Speaker 2: at the snap. Well, Ernest Jones has to orchestrate all
- 33:33Speaker 2: that and play at position with a lead guard and
- 33:36Speaker 2: a fullback coming at him or a tight end crossing
- 33:38Speaker 2: across the middle, and he does all of it. He
- 33:41Speaker 2: is the key to that defensive front and all the
- 33:43Speaker 2: changes that they do with the snap because of Mike McDonald.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Up next, we're gonna shift gears to talk about the
- 33:49Speaker 2: Mariners because they need it. What do they need? Though?
- 33:53Speaker 2: The trade deadline is Monday? Do you sell now that
- 33:56Speaker 2: you're two and a half back in third place? Do
- 33:58Speaker 2: you go get that right handed bat. Do you go
- 34:00Speaker 2: get the reliever they so sorely need? Is it Mason
- 34:03Speaker 2: Miller from San Diego at Mike Costume, George Kirby or
- 34:05Speaker 2: Emerson Hancock one of your young starters? Can they get
- 34:08Speaker 2: rid of Luis Castillo in that contract that's up next?
- 34:12Speaker 2: At eleven o'clock, you're gonna hear from Derek Hall. We're
- 34:14Speaker 2: gonna sit down and talk to the Seahawks starting linebacker.
- 34:16Speaker 2: On ninety three point three KJRFM, Welcome back, Greg Bell,
- 34:31Speaker 2: Jessin McIntyre, Travis Muger Beck in the studio. Jessamin and
- 34:34Speaker 2: Gregor are here at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center for
- 34:37Speaker 2: the fourth day of Seattle Seahawks training camp as Super
- 34:40Speaker 2: Bowl champions. I want to say before we get to
- 34:44Speaker 2: the Mariners, because there's a lot to get to there
- 34:46Speaker 2: in a short amount of time before At eleven o'clock,
- 34:48Speaker 2: Derek Hall joins us the starting outside linebacker. Congratulations to
- 34:52Speaker 2: Elise Woodward. Yeah, our friend, the Husky sideline reporter for
- 34:56Speaker 2: so many years has become a play by play announcer
- 34:58Speaker 2: for so many sports, including WNBA, including women's college basketball. Well,
- 35:04Speaker 2: this morning, the University of Washington announced that she will
- 35:08Speaker 2: be the new Huskies football play by play announcer right
- 35:11Speaker 2: here on ninety three point three KJRFM and the Husky
- 35:14Speaker 2: Radio Network. Congrats to Elie Woodward.
- 35:17Speaker 6: She talked about earning it.
- 35:19Speaker 4: My apple cup rider die, even though we're on opposing
- 35:22Speaker 4: sidelines for the last fourteen years, and someone that I've
- 35:26Speaker 4: always respected so much. Having come out here in two
- 35:30Speaker 4: thousand and nine, obviously she was already a name out here.
- 35:33Speaker 4: But you know, people think that we might compete against
- 35:36Speaker 4: each other.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Nope, she has been a true.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Friend, an awesome colleague, even though we might be on
- 35:42Speaker 4: opposite sides of the field, and I could not think
- 35:46Speaker 4: of someone better to be in that booth man.
- 35:48Speaker 2: That's really awesome. So happy for her.
- 35:51Speaker 3: I've twenty three years, twenty three years she's been on
- 35:53Speaker 3: that sideline.
- 35:54Speaker 2: I used to travel on team planes and buses with
- 35:57Speaker 2: her when I worked at the University of Washington, travel
- 35:59Speaker 2: with the football teams. And yeah, well, hats off to her.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Great and very talented broadcast.
- 36:08Speaker 2: So you're gonna hear her. She is now the heir
- 36:11Speaker 2: the replacement for Tony Castercrone, who left the Huskies radio
- 36:14Speaker 2: broadcast to be the play by play announcer for the
- 36:16Speaker 2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That happened about a month or so ago.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And now at least Woodward is going to be the
- 36:21Speaker 2: new Washington Huskies football play by play announcer in the
- 36:25Speaker 2: tradition of Bob Rondo and now Tony Cascon. And now
- 36:28Speaker 2: at least Whatward you'll hear her broadcast all fall here
- 36:31Speaker 2: on ninety three point three KJFM, your home for the Huskies.
- 36:35Speaker 2: The Mariners three out of four. They lost in Texas
- 36:38Speaker 2: in a series they had been earmarking as their chance
- 36:41Speaker 2: to get back into first place. Instead, they're in third,
- 36:44Speaker 2: two and a half games back of first place in Texas.
- 36:47Speaker 2: The trash Cans are ahead of them right now by
- 36:49Speaker 2: a half game.
- 36:50Speaker 3: I love that you keep calling them.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Now they gotta go in appropriate. Now they got to
- 36:54Speaker 2: go to Dodgers Stadium to play the world champion Los
- 36:57Speaker 2: Angeles Dodgers for three games beginning tonight. It's seven tien
- 36:59Speaker 2: of Luis Ca Steal on the Mountain. The trade deadline
- 37:02Speaker 2: is on Monday, August third, four nine four five one
- 37:06Speaker 2: on the Komadadge text line and on the talkback line
- 37:08Speaker 2: that Travis says, We've already got three calls about two
- 37:10Speaker 2: of them Mariners. What does this Texas series and in fact
- 37:14Speaker 2: the Mariners are in third place? Change in your mind
- 37:16Speaker 2: about how the Mariners should approach this trade deadline. We
- 37:19Speaker 2: know the market is slow. We know there are not
- 37:21Speaker 2: a lot of right handed bats available that they've been
- 37:23Speaker 2: trying to get, not a lot of high leverage arms
- 37:24Speaker 2: that are trying to get well. Should they pivot and sell?
- 37:28Speaker 2: Should they sell? Should they trade George Kirby? Should they
- 37:32Speaker 2: trade Emerson Hancock was still club control a young pitcher.
- 37:35Speaker 2: With their surplus of starting pitchers that have been rumored
- 37:37Speaker 2: to be on the trading block, is that what it
- 37:40Speaker 2: would take to get a Mason Miller from the San
- 37:42Speaker 2: Diego Padres, who still has two years of club control
- 37:44Speaker 2: on his contract, throwing one hundred and five miles an
- 37:47Speaker 2: hour as a closer, the most dominant closer in the game.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Bringing in him would move Andres Munos into a varied
- 37:53Speaker 2: role as a primary setup guy. Or you have Mason
- 37:56Speaker 2: Miller and Andres Munos's co closers, But that's gonna cost
- 37:59Speaker 2: you one of your frontline starters at least plus some
- 38:02Speaker 2: of your top prospects is that the mode Jerry Depoto
- 38:05Speaker 2: should be in right now, four nine, four or five one, jessmin.
- 38:08Speaker 2: I know no one wants to hear this after losing
- 38:10Speaker 2: three or four in Texas, but it's only July twenty eighth,
- 38:13Speaker 2: their quote, only two and a half games back in
- 38:16Speaker 2: an absolutely putrid division.
- 38:19Speaker 4: I think that's where the Salt hits the wound on
- 38:22Speaker 4: that one, because of how bad the division is. And
- 38:25Speaker 4: they have everything that they need to beat four or
- 38:29Speaker 4: five games up right now, and so we know that
- 38:32Speaker 4: it's there. It's just we haven't seen it actually come
- 38:35Speaker 4: to fruition.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I say they buy. I say they go get it.
- 38:38Speaker 2: It's right handed bat if. Whatever it takes to get it.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I say they get more bullpen help, and I say
- 38:43Speaker 2: they go for it. While they have this pitching staff, young,
- 38:46Speaker 2: relatively healthy, under club control. This is their window, and
- 38:50Speaker 2: it's especially their window because the division stinks and because
- 38:53Speaker 2: the American League only has one or two or three
- 38:54Speaker 2: good teams right now. I mean the go we remember
- 38:58Speaker 2: we talked to Steve Phillips about in in both Jim
- 39:00Speaker 2: Bone then they both said go yes both.
- 39:03Speaker 4: I think I have like the most exclamative comments on
- 39:07Speaker 4: that he is this is it, let's go exactly.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Everyone around baseball cannot believe that the Mariners are in
- 39:13Speaker 2: third place two games under five hundred end of July.
- 39:16Speaker 2: With the talent and the pitching that they have. That's
- 39:18Speaker 2: how bad their offense has been. That's how bad their
- 39:21Speaker 2: bullpen has been, and frankly, that's how bad they've been constructed.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I know everyone in this town wants to get on
- 39:29Speaker 2: Dan Wilson, but he's only got so many buttons to push.
- 39:33Speaker 2: When you've got seven relievers and three of them are
- 39:35Speaker 2: triple A guys, when you've got six starters, none of
- 39:38Speaker 2: them happy about the situation, and you have to have
- 39:40Speaker 2: guys one you have one fewer bullpen are I mean
- 39:45Speaker 2: Rob Refschneider as your primary option against left handed pitching,
- 39:48Speaker 2: he was until he got her. Come on that. That
- 39:51Speaker 2: is not Dan Wilson's fault. It's maybe Dan Wilson's fault
- 39:55Speaker 2: when he inserts guys into games. But when he has
- 39:57Speaker 2: options off the bench and he looks at Rob Refschneider
- 40:00Speaker 2: and he looks at Michael Rucker in the bullpen, he
- 40:02Speaker 2: didn't put those guys there. Dan Wilson didn't put those
- 40:07Speaker 2: guys in the dugout in the bullpen. Jerry Poland did that.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Justin Hollander did that. Frankly, That's where this buck starts
- 40:14Speaker 2: and stops is with the roster construction on the team
- 40:17Speaker 2: that is this talented in pitching, that is this poor
- 40:20Speaker 2: everywhere else. I mean, there's only so many things a hitting,
- 40:24Speaker 2: pitching coach and a manager can do with that four
- 40:27Speaker 2: nine four five one. What would you do at the
- 40:29Speaker 2: trade deadline? I say bye, I say go for it.
- 40:33Speaker 2: You're not out of it. You're two and a half
- 40:35Speaker 2: back in a terrible division. I know they've been playing
- 40:37Speaker 2: subterranean lately, uninspired and looking bad, but it's only I
- 40:41Speaker 2: know you want to hear this either, but it's only
- 40:43Speaker 2: July twenty eighth.
- 40:44Speaker 4: I really feel like we're in a Wolf of Wall
- 40:46Speaker 4: Street moment right now.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Worth.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not going anywhere.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Because they shouldn't. I'm with you one hundred percent. I
- 40:57Speaker 4: am all in buying and would Hugh. I can't imagine
- 41:03Speaker 4: what this fan base would do if they started selling
- 41:05Speaker 4: off at this trade deadline right now. I don't think
- 41:08Speaker 4: they will, but I'm not in that office, so uh,
- 41:12Speaker 4: but yeah, I'm all in for buying, and it just
- 41:14Speaker 4: has to be a significant buye.
- 41:16Speaker 3: It has to be a significant buye.
- 41:18Speaker 2: And that's what's tough, is that that costs. There aren't
- 41:21Speaker 2: many of those, and those are, they're gonna cost a lot.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Up next, Derek Hall. What a story he has, What
- 41:28Speaker 2: an appreciation he has for his mother, who he's bought
- 41:30Speaker 2: a house for. He calls it his dream that he's
- 41:34Speaker 2: been able to fulfill. He's now a forty six million
- 41:36Speaker 2: dollars starting linebacker, Super Bowl champion for the Seahawks. You'll
- 41:40Speaker 2: hear from Derek Hall next eleven thirty. We'll read back
- 41:42Speaker 2: your text and talkbacks on the Tacomadadge text line in
- 41:45Speaker 2: our talkback app Ian Froness will joined us at eleven
- 41:48Speaker 2: forty five from Seahawks training camp live on ninety three
- 41:50Speaker 2: point three KJRFM No from.
- 41:55Speaker 1: The Star Rentals Sports Tests Your ninety three point three
- 41:58Speaker 1: KJRFM Sports.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Good Morning, Happy Tuesday. Derek Hall from the Seahawks training
- 42:03Speaker 2: camp joins us next after headlines brought to you by
- 42:05Speaker 2: Frostbury Corselight Chows, Chill Manners lept out of Texas losers
- 42:09Speaker 2: in three of four in their Big series for first
- 42:11Speaker 2: place in the Al West. George Kirby picked a bad
- 42:14Speaker 2: time to allow four home runs, the most of his career,
- 42:16Speaker 2: the second most home runs allowed by a pitcher in
- 42:19Speaker 2: Mariner's history in one game on to LA for three
- 42:23Speaker 2: games in Dodger Stadium, beginning tonight against the World champs,
- 42:26Speaker 2: Last Castillo starts seven to ten first pitch in Los Angeles.
- 42:30Speaker 2: The Seahawks waved often injured Kenny McIntosh here from training
- 42:34Speaker 2: camp as he was recovering from reconstructive knee surgery. They
- 42:37Speaker 2: did that a couple hours after Emmanuel Wilson, the free
- 42:40Speaker 2: agent running back they had signed from Green Bay this offseason,
- 42:42Speaker 2: ran with the starting offense for the first time in
- 42:44Speaker 2: training camp. It was rookie first round draft choices Jedarians
- 42:47Speaker 2: Price best day yet Yesterday he made a cut on
- 42:50Speaker 2: a wheel roud on Ernest Jones for a touchdown catch
- 42:52Speaker 2: deep down the field that the veteran linebacker called a
- 42:54Speaker 2: hell of a move. He said, that guy's good man.
- 42:57Speaker 2: He's gonna help us. Ernest Jones about first round pick
- 43:00Speaker 2: Jedari and Price, I still say he's going to be
- 43:02Speaker 2: the starter Week one in the backfield against New England.
- 43:05Speaker 2: September ninth, the Vikings signed Jamal Adams remember him on
- 43:09Speaker 2: the eve of Minnesota's training camp, starting still only thirty
- 43:11Speaker 2: years old. Played seventeen games, four starts last year for
- 43:14Speaker 2: Pete Carroll's Raiders. Of course, you remember the Seahawks trader
- 43:16Speaker 2: away two first round picks and a starter Bradley McDougal
- 43:19Speaker 2: to get him. In twenty twenty, and in college sports,
- 43:23Speaker 2: Ohio State of the Big Ten of the Washington Huskies
- 43:26Speaker 2: Big Ten, Ohio State signed a deal to have Chase
- 43:29Speaker 2: Bank from New York have their logos on all Buckeye
- 43:32Speaker 2: team uniforms of all sports at a cool seventeen million
- 43:36Speaker 2: dollars per year. This is probably the precursor to the Huskies,
- 43:39Speaker 2: the Ducks, and everybody else doing the same thing, if
- 43:41Speaker 2: they haven't already. Back here at the Virginia Mason Athletics
- 43:51Speaker 2: in aer Seahawks training camp were joined by outside linebacker
- 43:54Speaker 2: Derek Hall, one of the foundation players of the top
- 43:57Speaker 2: ranking defense in the NFL, Derek Asker. Right off the top,
- 44:00Speaker 2: this training campus is unlike any you've had before, because
- 44:03Speaker 2: one you're a Super Bowl champion, Two you have a
- 44:06Speaker 2: new contract that solidifies your place with this team, and
- 44:09Speaker 2: three you have cameras and boom microphones following you. Ever,
- 44:12Speaker 2: what's that whole experience been Like, It's.
- 44:14Speaker 12: Different, you know, especially coming off of Super Bowl win
- 44:17Speaker 12: and you know, guys trying to reconnect, you know, get
- 44:19Speaker 12: back to the basics. You know, obviously we know what
- 44:22Speaker 12: it takes to get there, but trying to redefine that right,
- 44:24Speaker 12: you know, not trying to chase it, but doing everything,
- 44:26Speaker 12: put into work every day, you know, knowing that it's
- 44:28Speaker 12: not giving and getting back to the ground. I think
- 44:29Speaker 12: it's huge. And then uh, you know, money's neither here
- 44:33Speaker 12: nor there. Obviously blessing to have, but at the end
- 44:35Speaker 12: of the day, I got to go out and produce
- 44:36Speaker 12: and play football. So continue to grow my craft, continue
- 44:38Speaker 12: to do the things I need you to go out
- 44:40Speaker 12: and help my team be successful. And then thirdly, with
- 44:42Speaker 12: the hard knock stuff, I think it's it's different. I
- 44:45Speaker 12: thought it was gonna be a lot more in your face,
- 44:48Speaker 12: but it's not as bad as I thought it was
- 44:49Speaker 12: gonna be. So I feel like those guys are doing
- 44:51Speaker 12: a great job, and I think it's a it's a
- 44:52Speaker 12: great opportunity to get an insight on you know kind
- 44:55Speaker 12: of what you know, what we're doing, what you see
- 44:57Speaker 12: and you know kind of also using it. You know,
- 44:59Speaker 12: that helped bread a bread yourself and you know, the team.
- 45:01Speaker 12: So I think it's a good opportunity.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Your coach Mike McDonald has mentioned perfecting the process that
- 45:06Speaker 2: that's the challenge now to do what you guys did
- 45:09Speaker 2: last year even better. What signs have you seen that
- 45:11Speaker 2: the processes changed or what changes have come in that regard.
- 45:15Speaker 5: I think just trying to run it forward, you know.
- 45:18Speaker 12: I think that's his new motto, you know, not trying
- 45:20Speaker 12: to reinvent the wheel, obviously keeping the things that we have,
- 45:23Speaker 12: but trying to find the uniqueness and things just to
- 45:26Speaker 12: get that much better, like you said, And I think, oh,
- 45:28Speaker 12: you know, that's the places that we're growing, that's the
- 45:30Speaker 12: things that we're doing, you know, Like I said, basically
- 45:32Speaker 12: just trying to connect with every single guy, you know,
- 45:35Speaker 12: not leaving all guy, trying to show a guy what
- 45:37Speaker 12: it feels to be loved, you know, as men, I
- 45:38Speaker 12: feel like it's a hard thing to love each other,
- 45:41Speaker 12: you know, and I feel like just that's that that's
- 45:43Speaker 12: what we have here, the love to come rider, and
- 45:44Speaker 12: that's honestly what makes us a pretty dang good football team.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Okay, the secrets out here in Southeast Alaska, everyone knows
- 45:51Speaker 2: the Seahawks now they they've studied you. That's how this
- 45:53Speaker 2: NFL works, right, It's the of copycat league. And everyone
- 45:56Speaker 2: will have studied your defense and studied what you've done.
- 45:59Speaker 2: What's your to that counter? Now what you know? The
- 46:02Speaker 2: whole league study and you what are you guys going
- 46:04Speaker 2: to do differently? How can you evolve as a defense? Yeah?
- 46:06Speaker 12: I think again, continued honding in on the details, the
- 46:09Speaker 12: small things, right, you know we missed attacker here, they're
- 46:12Speaker 12: hondeing on those mistackles, honding on our technique, honding on
- 46:15Speaker 12: hand placement, food work, all the things that that very
- 46:18Speaker 12: monotonous that.
- 46:19Speaker 5: You think just you do every day.
- 46:21Speaker 12: Continue to get better at those things in the scheme,
- 46:23Speaker 12: mic and all those guys that handle out of those
- 46:24Speaker 12: stairs continue to put us in great position go out
- 46:26Speaker 12: to be successful. But I feel like us as a
- 46:28Speaker 12: player continued to try to grow our game every single day,
- 46:30Speaker 12: you know, just that much better than we feel like
- 46:33Speaker 12: we need to be.
- 46:34Speaker 2: You personally, they're gonna have studied you, and now you've
- 46:37Speaker 2: got a new contract, You've got a Super Bowl ring.
- 46:39Speaker 2: What are you expecting from offenses? You expected more attention.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Maybe some double teams are tight ends blocking you that
- 46:45Speaker 2: maybe didn't block your tackles coming out to reach to
- 46:47Speaker 2: either didn't. What are you expecting to be different this
- 46:49Speaker 2: year that way?
- 46:50Speaker 5: Yeah, honestly, I don't. I don't think anything different.
- 46:52Speaker 12: I mean I was one of the more the highest
- 46:54Speaker 12: rated guys when it came to double teams last year
- 46:56Speaker 12: in the league, So you know, I'm expecting more of
- 46:58Speaker 12: the same, but also trying to find ways again going
- 47:00Speaker 12: back to myself and my game to help defeat those
- 47:03Speaker 12: and continue to help a way to you know, grow
- 47:05Speaker 12: my pass rush tree, continue to do things to help
- 47:07Speaker 12: the team, you know, get better every single day. So
- 47:09Speaker 12: I don't expect anything different personally. Just continue to go
- 47:11Speaker 12: out and try to be dominant man. And I think
- 47:14Speaker 12: that's my goal is yould be dominant every single play,
- 47:16Speaker 12: you know, just doing what I can to help this
- 47:18Speaker 12: team be that much better.
- 47:20Speaker 2: You've told and retold your story many times of your
- 47:22Speaker 2: birth and two point nine ounces or two pounds nine
- 47:26Speaker 2: ounces and born at twenty three and a half weeks
- 47:28Speaker 2: and your mother and what she went through and what
- 47:31Speaker 2: you went through with it, brain bleed and all of that,
- 47:33Speaker 2: and you retotaled again at the super Bowl. But having
- 47:37Speaker 2: done that in the start of your life, from there
- 47:40Speaker 2: to what you are now and an NFL player on
- 47:43Speaker 2: a second contract, a contract that everyone plays for and
- 47:46Speaker 2: dreams about, and now a super Bowl champion. Have you
- 47:48Speaker 2: thought about stepping back and taking a stock of all
- 47:52Speaker 2: you've could become, what you've come from to where you
- 47:54Speaker 2: are today.
- 47:55Speaker 12: I think I've done that. You know, the contract process
- 48:00Speaker 12: very stressful deal. You know, you go through all those negotiations,
- 48:03Speaker 12: all those talks, and then you know when you know,
- 48:05Speaker 12: Nell finally hit the himmer I mean hamm and finally
- 48:07Speaker 12: his to Neil and you drive that thing in and
- 48:09Speaker 12: you know, everybody come to agreement on the deal. I
- 48:11Speaker 12: think that's that's pretty huge. That's pretty scessful, And that's
- 48:13Speaker 12: not something you take for granted. You know, a lot
- 48:15Speaker 12: of guys in good opportunity, like you said, to get
- 48:17Speaker 12: to that second contract. So being able to go home
- 48:19Speaker 12: and celebrate that with my family, take a step back
- 48:21Speaker 12: and just look at how blessed I am. You know,
- 48:22Speaker 12: from from day one, I've been a miracle it's nobody
- 48:24Speaker 12: but God. You know who's ordained my life to be
- 48:27Speaker 12: in this position, to be in this moment, and you know,
- 48:29Speaker 12: just on the football piece. Man, just continue to grow, man,
- 48:31Speaker 12: just continue to grow, continue to strive. You know, if
- 48:33Speaker 12: the job isn't done, it'll never be done until we
- 48:36Speaker 12: hang the clease up as an individual player. So just
- 48:38Speaker 12: trying to go out and get that much better perfect
- 48:40Speaker 12: my craft.
- 48:40Speaker 4: Man.
- 48:41Speaker 12: I think that's that's what this game is done for me,
- 48:43Speaker 12: and that's what it's continue to do.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Man.
- 48:45Speaker 12: Just just give me a form of normalcy as a
- 48:47Speaker 12: young kid and now being able to go out and
- 48:49Speaker 12: make ways of generational wealth and continue to grow my
- 48:51Speaker 12: game and try to be one of the best to
- 48:52Speaker 12: ever do this.
- 48:53Speaker 5: When this thing is all.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Done, you're still a young man. Did you have a
- 48:56Speaker 2: splash purchase with your new contract? Something you've always wanted
- 48:58Speaker 2: to get?
- 48:59Speaker 12: I've been in the trucks obviously, So I bought another truck,
- 49:05Speaker 12: six gen Dodge. Everybody no more park. God, I love coming.
- 49:08Speaker 12: So bought a six gen Dodge. But man, just color
- 49:13Speaker 12: the new colors like a ceramic gray or something like that.
- 49:17Speaker 12: It's kind of a little bit darker than the gray.
- 49:19Speaker 12: Probably about the gray on your shirt. I think it's
- 49:21Speaker 12: pretty cool, but uh yeah, about that. And then it's
- 49:24Speaker 12: just real estate, you know, trying to trying to try
- 49:26Speaker 12: trying to make it, make money back home, back home,
- 49:30Speaker 12: so I had mama place obviously, and then now trying
- 49:32Speaker 12: to just get residual income and do different things like that.
- 49:34Speaker 5: So it's trying to grow.
- 49:36Speaker 2: You bought your portfolio, excuse me, you bought your mother
- 49:38Speaker 2: at home.
- 49:39Speaker 5: Right correct? A couple of years ago.
- 49:41Speaker 2: What was that like a young man still in his
- 49:43Speaker 2: twenties to be able to provide for the mother who
- 49:46Speaker 2: provided so much for you.
- 49:48Speaker 5: Yeah, it's hard to put in the words. I mean
- 49:51Speaker 5: that lady gave everything for me.
- 49:52Speaker 12: My mom's a warrior, she's MC queen, she's everything, So
- 49:55Speaker 12: it's hard to put in the words. She always says
- 49:57Speaker 12: she didn't be able to pay me, but I don't
- 49:59Speaker 12: care how long I live, I able to pay for
- 50:01Speaker 12: what she's done for me and just giving me that
- 50:03Speaker 12: fighting chance, you know, as as a as a young infant.
- 50:05Speaker 5: So uh, I mean, that's that's a second or none.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Man.
- 50:08Speaker 12: That's that's huge and something that I never thought i'd
- 50:12Speaker 12: be able to do. So now I don't know what's
- 50:15Speaker 12: next for mama, but she she she got away to
- 50:16Speaker 12: that third one. This this is all about making sure
- 50:19Speaker 12: I grow my portfolio and you know, getting myself and
- 50:23Speaker 12: UH set up for the.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Future residential real estate, commercial, residential, residential yep. On football wise,
- 50:30Speaker 2: what's next for you now? As I said, you're still
- 50:32Speaker 2: a young man to grow and you said you take
- 50:35Speaker 2: your gaming that What is the next level for you?
- 50:36Speaker 2: What do you want to do?
- 50:38Speaker 12: Just being a dombinant force man? I think being able
- 50:40Speaker 12: to finish on the quarterback. You know the numbers were
- 50:42Speaker 12: high last year, getting there, getting there and getting there
- 50:44Speaker 12: and pressure and it hits, but not being able to finish.
- 50:46Speaker 12: So it's continuing to no false steps, you know, that's
- 50:48Speaker 12: Plaits second difference, make a difference in the pressure in
- 50:50Speaker 12: the sack, you know, being able to win more cleanly
- 50:52Speaker 12: with my hands, you know, taking that tick of a second,
- 50:54Speaker 12: Being able to get around and ben the edge better,
- 50:56Speaker 12: being able to you know, steal my feet sometimes instead
- 50:58Speaker 12: of falling.
- 50:59Speaker 5: Man, my game and my game can grow so.
- 51:01Speaker 12: Much, and just being able to watch the evolvement from
- 51:05Speaker 12: even last year through the spring and where I'm at
- 51:07Speaker 12: now and just watching tape then and watching tape now,
- 51:09Speaker 12: just how much more decisive I am and then tune
- 51:11Speaker 12: with my game and where I want to grow I
- 51:13Speaker 12: think is pretty good.
- 51:14Speaker 2: How much pressure is there for the sack number at
- 51:16Speaker 2: your position? You know that's where the money is. That
- 51:20Speaker 2: stat alone doesn't often tell what a guy's effectiveness is.
- 51:23Speaker 2: But how much does that stat hang around off outside
- 51:26Speaker 2: like edge guys like you?
- 51:27Speaker 5: I mean, I think that's what you are.
- 51:29Speaker 12: You know, you get paid to get sacked, so obviously
- 51:31Speaker 12: that the weight of that statistic number is very high.
- 51:35Speaker 12: But I think again, the way we see the value here,
- 51:38Speaker 12: obviously you know what they've done for me is a
- 51:41Speaker 12: little bit different.
- 51:42Speaker 2: I was gonna say they rewarded you for everything, but
- 51:45Speaker 2: that they wanted your game not to find by sacks.
- 51:48Speaker 2: How much do you appreciate that?
- 51:49Speaker 12: I mean, it's amazing. I love again like I love
- 51:51Speaker 12: it here. I love this place. I love what we're building.
- 51:54Speaker 12: I love our coaching staff. Obviously John and who he
- 51:57Speaker 12: is and hisself, he's amazing. But just being able to
- 52:01Speaker 12: be able to come to work and be myself every day,
- 52:02Speaker 12: be able to come in do what I need to do,
- 52:05Speaker 12: talk crab.
- 52:05Speaker 5: They know what they know.
- 52:06Speaker 12: What Again, when I'll come to work every day vice
- 52:09Speaker 12: versa with them, I know they're gonna put their best
- 52:11Speaker 12: effort in.
- 52:11Speaker 5: I love it here. I love the community, I love
- 52:13Speaker 5: the twelve.
- 52:13Speaker 12: So again I'll say a thousand times over what everyone
- 52:16Speaker 12: thought I'll be able to get a free agency, I
- 52:17Speaker 12: don't care.
- 52:18Speaker 5: I love it here. I want to be here and
- 52:20Speaker 5: this is home.
- 52:21Speaker 2: You did say that you didn't even want it. I
- 52:23Speaker 2: think remember asking you in the spring about did you
- 52:25Speaker 2: look at your market? You said you didn't care. And
- 52:27Speaker 2: that's because of the culture here, correct, Yes, sir, and
- 52:31Speaker 2: that's the validation of that. Derek Call, I know you're
- 52:33Speaker 2: a busy man. You have to go. I appreciate you.
- 52:35Speaker 2: I appreciate your appreciation for where you've been, for your
- 52:38Speaker 2: mother and all that.
- 52:39Speaker 5: Congratulations to you, Yes, sir, thank you, appreciate you taking
- 52:41Speaker 5: the time.
- 52:43Speaker 2: Yess. I've done this for twenty five years, and this
- 52:46Speaker 2: is why I love doing it. When you learn stories
- 52:48Speaker 2: and hear appreciation of that. Yes, they're rich, Yes they're accomplished.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Yes they're held out a pedestal, but they're people and.
- 52:56Speaker 3: They how hard they've worked, the work.
- 52:58Speaker 2: They put in and the appreciation for those who got
- 53:00Speaker 2: him here, especially when they talk about their parents, especially
- 53:03Speaker 2: when they have an appreciation, as Derek Hall does, for
- 53:07Speaker 2: how he came back from death when he was newborn.
- 53:10Speaker 3: He was born under three pounds.
- 53:12Speaker 2: From day one. I was a.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Super Bowl winning linebacker exactly.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yes, and he's a good one. He the reason they
- 53:20Speaker 2: chose him over Boy Mafey. I saw it again yesterday
- 53:23Speaker 2: in practice. I know they did have pads on, but
- 53:25Speaker 2: the way he takes on double teams he met you
- 53:27Speaker 2: heard him mention in that interview. Statistically, people that track
- 53:32Speaker 2: that stuff say he was one of the most double
- 53:34Speaker 2: teamed edge outside linebackers in the league, and a lot
- 53:36Speaker 2: of that is because he played every down. He was
- 53:38Speaker 2: a pass rusher and a run stopper, and when teams
- 53:41Speaker 2: wanted to attack the edge, they sent tackles, tight ends,
- 53:44Speaker 2: fullbacks at Derek Hall. Frankly, he handled that better than
- 53:48Speaker 2: Boy Mafey did. Mafay, by the end of his time here,
- 53:51Speaker 2: became more of a pass rush specialist because he was
- 53:53Speaker 2: something of a liability against the run. Not with Derek Hall.
- 53:56Speaker 2: All stayed on the field for all downs. Didn't get
- 53:59Speaker 2: the sack numbers, but he had pressure rates and high
- 54:01Speaker 2: pressure numbers, but he didn't get the sack numbers. You
- 54:04Speaker 2: heard him talk about that and his appreciation for the Seahawks,
- 54:07Speaker 2: not just saying, well, your value to us is how
- 54:10Speaker 2: many sacks and how many times you put the quarterback
- 54:11Speaker 2: on the ground. It's everything else he does, and that
- 54:14Speaker 2: is also the ethos of this defense. The top ranked
- 54:17Speaker 2: defense allowed the fewest points in the league last year.
- 54:20Speaker 2: They talk a lot about don't worry about getting your
- 54:23Speaker 2: sacks or getting your numbers, or everyone will get theirs
- 54:27Speaker 2: if everyone does their job, and everyone does some selflessness
- 54:31Speaker 2: and switching of positions and maybe you're out of position
- 54:34Speaker 2: for a sack. Joan love Lenter Williams talk about no
- 54:38Speaker 2: one's clamoring for give me all the run one on
- 54:40Speaker 2: one reps. And Marcus Lawrence talks about this. He's been
- 54:43Speaker 2: in the league twelve years and he talks about how players,
- 54:47Speaker 2: especially at the outside edge position, they say, get me
- 54:50Speaker 2: on an island against the tackle and let me go
- 54:52Speaker 2: to work so I can get paid. That's not what
- 54:54Speaker 2: the Seahawks do here. They do loops, they do stunts,
- 54:57Speaker 2: they change positions. The letter Williams is a defensive in
- 55:00Speaker 2: one position, he's in a three technique or five technique
- 55:02Speaker 2: defensive tackle. The next Derek Hall takes on double team
- 55:06Speaker 2: so that somebody else can get the pressure of the
- 55:08Speaker 2: sack so they can blitz nick emun Worry or Devin
- 55:11Speaker 2: Witherspoon off the edge that Derek Hall is getting double
- 55:14Speaker 2: teamed on. And the Seahawks rewarded that with Hall and
- 55:17Speaker 2: gave him forty two million dollars, and they let mafe
- 55:20Speaker 2: go because they valued more of an every down presence
- 55:24Speaker 2: that Derek Hall gives in run against the double teams.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Mafay ends up getting twenty million dollars a year from
- 55:31Speaker 2: the Cincinnati Bengals because of his past rush in the
- 55:34Speaker 2: fact that he was a past ERUs specialist on a
- 55:36Speaker 2: Super Bowl champion team. But I'm here to tell you
- 55:38Speaker 2: the Seahawks value the incomplete game and the character that
- 55:42Speaker 2: Derek Hall has.
- 55:43Speaker 4: Yeah, that's something that I mean, even before Mike McDonald,
- 55:46Speaker 4: we've seen with this team time and time again, is
- 55:49Speaker 4: you know, you draft on skill and talent, but you
- 55:52Speaker 4: also draft on character, and that is something it's not
- 55:55Speaker 4: traditional Pete Carroll, but it is still a very consistent
- 55:59Speaker 4: theme that we seen with this organization is that they
- 56:03Speaker 4: do also take that into account when they're taking guys
- 56:06Speaker 4: on to this organization.
- 56:08Speaker 2: On the takomadadts TEXTIM we're going to read and get
- 56:10Speaker 2: into a lot more. Eleven thirty, the two six had
- 56:13Speaker 2: an interesting point about the trucks. You heard him mention
- 56:17Speaker 2: Dodge trucksy the mopark guy. He said, of course he's
- 56:20Speaker 2: going to go that route. I don't even know the
- 56:23Speaker 2: trucks that he's talking about that he just bought again.
- 56:26Speaker 2: But the two oh six said that d Hall downplayed
- 56:30Speaker 2: how much he's into trucks. I was his ups driver
- 56:33Speaker 2: his rookie year, delivering parts. He and his dad in
- 56:37Speaker 2: the driveway, wrenching walk through the players parking lot. It's
- 56:40Speaker 2: pretty obvious which truck is his.
- 56:46Speaker 4: I have a feeling he's made some modifications on his own.
- 56:50Speaker 4: That would just be my guess. Yeah, Oh, that's funny.
- 56:54Speaker 2: That is funny, Yeah, he said. He said his rookie
- 56:57Speaker 2: contract was for he got his mom, and he had
- 57:00Speaker 2: dreamed of doing that and always wanted to do that.
- 57:02Speaker 2: His second contract was for the trucks.
- 57:05Speaker 3: But that's priorities.
- 57:06Speaker 9: Man.
- 57:07Speaker 3: He's got them in the right order. I think that's great. Yeah,
- 57:11Speaker 3: I know.
- 57:11Speaker 4: I always remember him talking about getting his mom, you know,
- 57:15Speaker 4: that house, that that was his dream, And imagine that
- 57:18Speaker 4: being your dream and finally having the way to do it.
- 57:22Speaker 4: And it's through what you love to do too. It's
- 57:25Speaker 4: not like, oh, you know, I toiled and did a
- 57:28Speaker 4: job I don't want to do. His dream was also
- 57:30Speaker 4: to play in the NFL.
- 57:31Speaker 2: Stacy Gooden Crandall is his mother who had him at
- 57:34Speaker 2: two pounds and nine ounces. And one of the great
- 57:38Speaker 2: side five products of the Super Bowl was the fact
- 57:43Speaker 2: that he got to tell that story about his mother,
- 57:45Speaker 2: and his mother got some notoriety for what she had
- 57:47Speaker 2: done to raise him, and.
- 57:49Speaker 3: You're pointing out him.
- 57:50Speaker 2: I believe she was a single mom at the time.
- 57:52Speaker 2: If I read the story at the time and you're
- 57:55Speaker 2: cradling your hands and trying to mimic how small two
- 57:58Speaker 2: pounds nine.
- 57:58Speaker 3: I was trying to like, it's amazing, you know what
- 58:01Speaker 3: I mean.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Our twins. Our twins are born at three pounds three ounces,
- 58:05Speaker 2: and they were premature, not nearly as premature nine weeks
- 58:09Speaker 2: after he was twenty three weeks is seventeen weeks early
- 58:13Speaker 2: to normal gestation. Our twins are born at thirty two
- 58:16Speaker 2: weeks and we're in a nicke you for I think
- 58:19Speaker 2: it was three weeks. It was a nightmare. It seemed
- 58:21Speaker 2: like forever. Well, he was in the nick you the
- 58:24Speaker 2: Neon NATO intensive care unit for months. For those of
- 58:27Speaker 2: you who've never had a Neo NATO intensive care unit experience, don't.
- 58:31Speaker 2: I never would wish it on anyone as a parent.
- 58:33Speaker 2: It's the scariest thing on earth. The beeping and the
- 58:37Speaker 2: constant critical monitoring, the heartbeats and the billy ruben lights.
- 58:41Speaker 2: Because your child's skin is yellow and they think they're jaundiced,
- 58:45Speaker 2: and you have to take them out. And when you
- 58:47Speaker 2: take them out, there's all these wires. Take them out
- 58:49Speaker 2: of their isolets. They're in these pink and blue plastic containers.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Basically they look like they're in gerbils in a hut. Yeah,
- 58:59Speaker 2: and you get to take him out, but do you
- 59:01Speaker 2: have all the wires on you? I remember one of
- 59:03Speaker 2: the first times that I got to hold my children
- 59:05Speaker 2: and he wanted us to be kangaroo swaddling with bare
- 59:07Speaker 2: chest skin to skin, and how valuable that was. And
- 59:10Speaker 2: there's still a thousand wires hanging and monitors beeping and
- 59:14Speaker 2: nurses coming in because the monitors are coming on constant
- 59:16Speaker 2: care and Nick you constant critical care. And he was
- 59:20Speaker 2: in there for months. His mom had to deal with
- 59:22Speaker 2: that for months before he became well enough to live
- 59:25Speaker 2: on his own. And as you said, now he'said for
- 59:28Speaker 2: forty two million dollars Super Bowl linebacker. It's one of
- 59:30Speaker 2: the more remarkable stories of many one of my things
- 59:33Speaker 2: here of being a journalist for twenty five years and
- 59:35Speaker 2: doing this, And I remember I told you the Ankillean story.
- 59:37Speaker 2: What's sports writing about? It's not about sports, about the people. Yeah,
- 59:41Speaker 2: everyone has a story, Everyone has a where did they
- 59:44Speaker 2: come from? How did they get here? And Derek Halls
- 59:46Speaker 2: is one of the more remarkable ones I've ever come
- 59:48Speaker 2: across in twenty five years of doing this, especially at
- 59:52Speaker 2: the position in the sport he plays. It's not like
- 59:54Speaker 2: he's golfing. I mean he is out there getting bashed
- 59:58Speaker 2: and bashing for a guy was totally he was. His
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: mom was told he wasn't gonna live as a newborn
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: at two pounds and nine housand. He actually lost weight
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: and was under two pounds right after birth. Those parents
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: know that right after birth, babies often lose weight, right
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: because they're not again. Yeah. Yeah, And so he was
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: at for a time under two pounds at twenty three weeks,
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: which is almost impossible to live in and here he
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: is thriving. It's it, yeah, It's why we do what
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: we It's why I do what I do. Frankly, I
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: mean the x's and o's and the sports center hot yeah,
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: we see those. But it's the stories like that that
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: that really motivate me to find out more about And
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Derek Hall is one of my favorites for it. I
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: appreciate him. Yesterday I was told he wasn't exactly enamored
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: with coming on the radio esterday and they but I'll
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: come on with Greg adjustment, okay. He of course turned
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: out to be great. Four nine four five one by
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: the Tacoma Dodge text line will be back here, Tex
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: thanks to the ups driver. That's pretty cool. That's a
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: good story.
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: That is a great story.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: I'll have to ask him, Derek, all about that and
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: his dad and the redoing trucks in the driveway. We'll
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: read back your text at eleven thirty. We also have
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: some talkbacks a lot on the Mariners. As soon as
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: you mentioned Mariners. It's on the text lide.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we've got some feisty ones out there.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Yes and right and so man, fifty years, I'm only
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: laughing instead of crying. It's been fifty years this town
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: hasn't had a World Series baseball team. So I get it.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: I totally get it. Your text done it to coming
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Out's text line. Next Live from the Virginia Mason Athletic
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Center in Seahawks training camp on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 1:01:39Speaker 13: Hey show, Hey Jess, Hey Greg, Jess. I love you,
- 1:01:43Speaker 13: but we've got to sell, sell, sell on everything. It's
- 1:01:46Speaker 13: not working. Nothing's working. Everyone's progressing, Col's progressing, Julio's progressing,
- 1:01:52Speaker 13: Josh Naylor's regressing. Everyone is going in the tank. We
- 1:01:57Speaker 13: gotta sell on Dan, we gotta sell on Egor. We
- 1:01:59Speaker 13: need a whole new coaching staff next year. That's no
- 1:02:03Speaker 13: history to the past, no Mariners, nothing, nothing, nothing.
- 1:02:08Speaker 14: Absolutely not the season to sell cal Julio and Naylor
- 1:02:13Speaker 14: need to pick it up. There's no reason those three
- 1:02:15Speaker 14: should have a combined negative war. They're too good for that.
- 1:02:18Speaker 14: And as a team, we have to start seeing more pitches.
- 1:02:21Speaker 14: I think there was three innings, yesterday where Rocker threw
- 1:02:24Speaker 14: less than double digit pitches. You gotta get to bullpens.
- 1:02:28Speaker 14: That's where you're gonna get on base. That's where you're
- 1:02:31Speaker 14: gonna score runs.
- 1:02:33Speaker 11: I am tired of the DWE which stands for Dan
- 1:02:37Speaker 11: Wilson experience. Time to move on. I bet you the
- 1:02:40Speaker 11: Marriams wish they still had Christophering or Drawn as a
- 1:02:43Speaker 11: possible manager candidate instead of Wilson. Also trade Kirby, trade Gilbert,
- 1:02:50Speaker 11: get rid of some of those guys. Get some young bats.
- 1:02:53Speaker 11: You have some young rooms coming up. Make the transition.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: Now.
- 1:02:57Speaker 15: This reconstructive knee surgery that Zach Charbonet's hat. That is
- 1:03:02Speaker 15: very concerning. When you have that type of surgery, injuries
- 1:03:07Speaker 15: are bound to happen again. It is just natural.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: It just happens. It sucks.
- 1:03:13Speaker 15: I had a friend that had the same surgery. His
- 1:03:16Speaker 15: sports stays were done.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: That's the talkback line. Go the iHeartRadio app nine through
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: three KJAR. You'll find a red microphone button there, or
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: the nine through three KJR website. It's now at the
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: top of that too. You hit that button, you give
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: a thirty second or less voice message will play it
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: back at eleven thirty dak Starbine, the injury, the surgery
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: he's talking about. The injury happened of course in mid
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: January and the divisional playoffs against the forty nine ers.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: He didn't have the surgery until February because of the swelling,
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: so he's only what five five and a half months
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: out of that surgery, which is why a lot of
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: estimates are that he's not going to be back until
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: October at the earliest. Eight to twelve months is the
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: usual recovery time from a knee the ACL repair. But
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: Takoma dots text line fort nine four five one. A
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: lot of texts about the Derek Hall interview we just aired.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: If you missed it, go to the iHeartRadio app or
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: nine through three kids r comm podcast page the Great
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Bell Show. You can hear it this afternoon. And also
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: about the Mariners. What to do? A lot of you saying,
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: don't sell the wrong year to sell like you heard
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: there on the talkback, A lot of you saying the
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: same thing. Four to five Great Derek Hall interview. Always
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: loved the humanitarian take with interviews. My daughter was born
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: one month early at four pounds and spent two weeks
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: in the nick you with mom, all the lights, everything
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: you described. We felt lucky then and lucky now. It
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: was only two weeks. Yes, I absolutely relate to that.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Congratulations to you and your family and your daughter. And yes,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Nick you is hell on earth experience, terrifying for especially
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: a brand new parent. It's just crazy. Thank you for
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: that terrific discussion with Derek call another four two five says,
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: every day each of us faces what we feel our challenges.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: It's nothing compared to what he has overcome. What an
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: inspirational young man. Two o six, great man, great interview.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Awesome Marcus our friend on the two o six I
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: hate off season training camp, et cetera talk. Thanks for
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: doing it in an interesting way. Thank you, Marcus. Appreciate
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: that you mentioned the UPS driver, said Derek Halls down
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: playing how much these trucks. That's a good one. He said.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: He was a UPS driver during calls rookie year to
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: his house delivering partsy and his dad in the driveway, wrenching.
- 1:05:32Speaker 16: By the way, your delivery driver knows a lot more
- 1:05:34Speaker 16: about you than you think, so you know head's out there.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: That's right. Drivers, they see you at all times, day
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: and night, weekends, when you don't expect him, when you're
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: not putting on errors.
- 1:05:46Speaker 16: And they know where your packages are coming from and
- 1:05:48Speaker 16: what you're getting.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: That too, I didn't think of that, friend, Michael from
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: the two five to three. The m's have to buy,
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: no freaking way they sell, because if we sell, they
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: will lose us. Not that they give a rats rear
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: end about that, but they have to go for it.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: Maybe not all the way, but if not, now when
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: this is our moment, we are and we are somehow,
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: some way letting it slip away. No way hashtag refused
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: to lose four two five. I'm gonna push back about
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: roster construction. Injuries are the issue. Every team deals with
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: unproven pieces to cover for injuries. That's true. Every team
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: gets injuries. And I do remember John Stanton on this
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: radio station to Dave Softy Maler on opening day back
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: in late March saying he said it. I wrote it
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: for the News Tribune that day when I covered the opener.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: If we health willing, if we don't have injuries, we
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: should compete for a World Series this year. John Stanton
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: said that on this air I wrote a story about
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: it the News Tribune. I went into the Park and
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: talked to the players about it. Man Travis, it seemed
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: like haunting words.
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: Now, well a little bit.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but what are you gonna do? I mean, what
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: are you going to do? I mean, this is their winter.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: They came with an eight hour last year of making
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: the World Series and brought almost everybody back, including the
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: pitching staff. So of course your owner would say that,
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: your chairman would say that. And it has not happened
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: at least yet. It is still till about twenty eighth.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: But Fortune five doesn't want to hear that, is it? Quote?
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Still early question mark? I'm done with Jerry's fifty four
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: percent series. Crap. Yeah, that quote olit of an infamy
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: in the Pacific Northwest forever seven, eight to six, Back
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: to the same old Mariners. I guess we'll wait another
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: twenty plus years to see a competitive team that breaks
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: our hearts in the playoffs for one or two seasons,
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: then repeat the cycle again two five three. The problem
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: is we have basically the same roster as last year
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: except for a few guys, and they're drastically underachieving from
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: the previous year. I should grab chuck power right now
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: over and say we can talk about the Mariners. We
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: could get chuck and just walked by and talk about this.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: I get the cynicism. Man, fifty years without a World Series,
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: you deserve to be a little cynicle. Jaden pissed off.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I've been here since ninety five, ninety
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: four as the first year I lived in Seattle. I
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: get it. I mean, I get it. I understand completely,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: and I think as a Meredith fan, you're absolutely justified
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: to be upset and frustrated by.
- 1:08:13Speaker 16: This, especially after what they showed last season, and they
- 1:08:16Speaker 16: set the bar so high and it's just been such
- 1:08:19Speaker 16: a disappointing you know, first half plus this year.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Right, But again, the only saving grades is it's only
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: two and a half games. It said that terrible division.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: It's only July twenty eighth. I keep telling to myself back,
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: I know that people don't want to hear it anymore.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: We mentioned earlier if you missed the news earlier, the
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: University of Washington announced this morning that at least Woodward,
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: their longtime sideline reporter, was also broadcast Husky women's basketball
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: games and women's basketballs games nationally for Pectrol Networks and
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Fox Sports. At least Woodward is going to be replacing
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: the departed Tony Castercone is the new voice of Husky's
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: Football right here on your home with the Husky's ninety
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: three point three KHRFM, beginning out about a month or
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: so with the opener at the Apple Cup Washington State
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: in Washington at Husky STAIU. At least Woodward will be
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: on the play by play call the University of Washington
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: announcing that this morning, and man, hats off to her too.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: That's really cool. Four two five gonna be nice to see.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: At least first game we'll be a blowout win over
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: the Koops of a Will. That's a dig on j justsement.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: I'm sure, I'm sure. But even Jessman was even Jument,
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: Jessman and at least have been friends for years. Even
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Jessman was saying how great it was that at least Woodard.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Congratulations to her, good friend of mine. It's great, It's
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: just great. It's great for her to six ms. Don't
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: need another closer exclamation point. I got it, I got it.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: The Mason Miller's that's been floated out there, Andres Munos
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: is on track. I think it's what eighteen now scoreless innings.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Struck out the side in Texas the other day to
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: get to save. Yeah, he seems to be back. It
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: seems to be fixed.
- 1:10:01Speaker 16: But if you get start, then you probably move Munos
- 1:10:04Speaker 16: into the eighth.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I would think probably He's.
- 1:10:07Speaker 16: That makes the most sense in my mind.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Yes, I mean I would think that would what you did.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: But I agree that they would. They don't need Mason Miller.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: They need bats. They also could use it set up
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: a reliever or three, but man, they needed about three
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: bats that can actually produce, especially against left handed pitching.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: As we know two O six, hold no trades till
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: the off season. That'd be interesting. Do nothing. How do
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: you think that would go over? Because the Poto he's
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: so active, right, he's he's always done something, a rose Arena,
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: a Castillo.
- 1:10:39Speaker 17: I mean he he always does something. And to do
- 1:10:43Speaker 17: nothing this year when your team has got such high
- 1:10:46Speaker 17: expectations so underperforming, Man, I would say no one would
- 1:10:51Speaker 17: show up at the park, but we know that's not true.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: They'll come out for bubble Ed's fireworks and the I'm
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: not game one other seven. They had thirty nine thousand
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: in the park when I went on that Wednesday against
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: the Reds and the homestown It was ninety five degrees
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: on a Wednesday afternoon at twelve thirty thirty eight thousand
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: people there almost thirty nine. So as a business model,
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: we've mentioned this a few timestrips. As a business model,
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: it's working. You keep your payroll in the middle of
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: the pack. You get the luxury tax revenue from the
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: high spending Dodgers and Mets and Yankees, and get that revenue,
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: you make your own revenue, or your top half of
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: the league in Major League Baseball, in own locally generated revenue,
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: park and broadcasting, what all. And you're not spending as
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: much as other teams. You're competing ear least staying in
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: contention for playoffs, and and your crowds are thirty five
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: thousand plus. They're averaging more this year than they did
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: last year for the attendance, and of course saw a
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: lot of that is the residual of going to the
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: America League Championship Series Game seven last year. And your
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: season ticket base goes higher, so your attendant's gonna get
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: higher if your season ticket base is higher. But still
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: as a business model, this is working.
- 1:12:00Speaker 16: Mariners are top ten in attendance this season right in
- 1:12:03Speaker 16: the league.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: That it's working as a business model now and on
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: the field as a competitive model, it's not working obviously
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: because they've never made the World Series in fifty years.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: But if you're the guys at the top, the twenty
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: some owners, the consortium that John Stanton is the chair of,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: as a business proposition, the Mariners are working, and that's
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: what drives fans crazy. I mean, I probably should even
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: remind people of that. Dustin says, couldn't be agree more
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: that the Mariners gotta be buyers, gotta still be buyers
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: with the roster and pitching staff we have, just need
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: to find a way to get in. I assume Dustin
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: means get in the playoffs. We've talked about this in
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Baseball first round playoffs. Five game series. With the pitching
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: staff the Mariners have, they should be favored to win
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: almost every five game series, almost maybe not. The Yankees
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: might be fair, even though Yankees have been down recently,
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: but with their pitching staff they can win any series.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Trot four starters out there. Of course, they got a hit.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: You gotta hit home runs in the clutch in the
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: playoffs to get where they get and Hanny with Suarez
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: proved that in the the Trade Series and the Toronto
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Series last year in the playoffs. But to hold no
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: trades till offseason, that's an interesting I'm not sure how
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: this actually, I'm pretty sure traps how this region would
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: react to that.
- 1:13:25Speaker 6: Not well, no, you gotta commit one way or the other.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: I think if they do nothing in stam Pat we're
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: only what six days from the trade deadline? Uh? Yeah,
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: you hear the music in the background. Season ticket Holder
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Day here at Seahawks Trading Camp. What's the mascot is out? Fans?
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Season ticket holders are starting to show up. The DJ's here,
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: so they're starting to get rolling. Ian for Ness is here.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: He's gonna join me next talk about what he has
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: up on the show. If you missed the Derek holl interview,
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: go to nine three three KGr dot com for the
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: podcast at Greg Bell Show, or go to the heart
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: radio app nine three three KJR. You can find it there.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: I'll catch up with Ian what he's got cooking next
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: on ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back, Welcome at
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Greg Bell now joined by and for Nest, the Mayor
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: of Maple Valley.
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: Check check check Hello Hey, you're turning into hell of
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: a radio engineer.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: Well done. Out here at Seahawks training camp in Virginia
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Mason Athletics Center, it's season ticket day. We just heard
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: the update on the break that the Eagles are signing
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: two time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jalen Carter to a
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: four year, one hundred and fifty two million dollar extension.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: It's a lot of money. That's the richest contract ever
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: for an inter defensive lineman. Yep, Fire Murphy. I bet
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: he and his agent noticed that, even though he's only
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: in his thirds, coming into his thirds.
- 1:14:58Speaker 6: And he ain't been as good as Carter yet.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: No, he hasn't.
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: But it's at all you want, buddy, But.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: But but the point is is that tide drives all boats,
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: and if that is the new market for an interior
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: defensive tackle, then his agent is going to notice that
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: it's one hundred and six million guaranteed for Jalon Carter
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: with the Eagles. Of course, the Seahawks had a chance
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: to draft Jaren Carter. They chose Devin Witherspoon. Again, I
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: don't think they regret that move.
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: No, no, no, I listen.
- 1:15:25Speaker 10: There were people member Carter's first year, though. There are
- 1:15:28Speaker 10: a lot of people critical of Schneider and his staff
- 1:15:31Speaker 10: for that pick because Witherspoon versus Carter and you know,
- 1:15:34Speaker 10: I get it, understand it, but uh, that's almost like
- 1:15:39Speaker 10: picking your favorite child, like they're both really good. Then
- 1:15:43Speaker 10: you can decide who's more important. Devin Witherspoon plays one
- 1:15:47Speaker 10: hundred percent of the plays on defense. D Liman don't
- 1:15:51Speaker 10: I would. I'll take Witherspoon.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say McDonald would rather have Witherspoon for
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: the how he plays defensive.
- 1:15:57Speaker 10: You know, somebody asked me this yesterday, Gregg and I
- 1:15:59Speaker 10: I thank you. I've talked about this with Devin Witherspoon.
- 1:16:02Speaker 6: It was Andrews.
- 1:16:02Speaker 10: Actually, actually we were talking about this yesterday a little bit,
- 1:16:06Speaker 10: Gonzales versus Witherspoon, like who should be higher paid? And
- 1:16:11Speaker 10: I made the argument. I don't if you agree, but
- 1:16:14Speaker 10: I made the argument in Witherspoon's case, Gonzalez is a
- 1:16:18Speaker 10: boundary outside corner. He's think of Richard Sherman. Witherspoon is
- 1:16:24Speaker 10: a Swiss army knife. You can play four or five
- 1:16:27Speaker 10: different spots and play them all at an all pro level.
- 1:16:29Speaker 10: I would argue Witherspoon is a little bit more valuable
- 1:16:32Speaker 10: than a McDuffie or Gonzalez type guy, just because of
- 1:16:35Speaker 10: his versatility, especially with this particular head coach and his
- 1:16:40Speaker 10: weird science mind of defense where he's got stuff going
- 1:16:43Speaker 10: on all the time. I think Witherspoon's a little bit
- 1:16:45Speaker 10: more important.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: He's been an inside nickel during this training camp, and
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: they brought Neamiah Pritchett has now been the third outside corner.
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: When they move to nickel and they put Witherspoon inside,
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: people say, well, Witherspoon doesn't have the interception. Well, teams
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: don't throw it Witherspoon, by and large, his numbers of
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: targets have gone way down since his first couple of years,
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: and his three time Pro Bowl pedigree precedes him. His
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: reputation precedes him in offensive game plans, and he doesn't
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: get a lot of passes thrown at him, which is
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: why he doesn't have the interception numbers, and he doesn't
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: get tested.
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: And those are those are kind of interesting numbers, aren't they?
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: Because that was a Sherman thing for a while.
- 1:17:25Speaker 10: Yes, it was right, Like you take part of your values,
- 1:17:28Speaker 10: you're taking away a third of the field.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: Is that And that's what he does, or the middle
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: or the middle of the field nickel right and not
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: blitzing right right now he has he has blitz lest
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: under McDonald the last two years, and he did his
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: rookie year under Carol And that's I think maybe an
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: evolution of McDonald with Witherspoon, maybe a higher blitz rate
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: for him, especially as teams get used to Nicky even
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: warrior when he returns in his blitz packaging, then maybe
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: you start offsetting them and blitzing Witherspoon more. But yeah,
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: I'm with you. I think he's more valuable to how
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: McDonald plays defense.
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: What are you hearing on contract?
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: It's close. That Also what could be delaying it is
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: the fact that Christen Gonzales and Devil Wetherspoon have the
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: same agent and they could be playing leveraging off of
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: each other, the Seahawks and the Patriots.
- 1:18:14Speaker 10: It's got to be complicated, right, because what we just
- 1:18:16Speaker 10: talked about, like, if you're the agent, you're again, who
- 1:18:19Speaker 10: are you favoring? Who's getting more money? And then if
- 1:18:22Speaker 10: that guy signs and the guy next other guy signs
- 1:18:24Speaker 10: the next day, then the other guy gets more money.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Right, But if you're the agency. The commission's the same.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: You're gonna get the commissioner either. You're making a lot
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: of money. So they're playing off each other, is what
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: I've told maybe happening here and to see who's going
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: to get the first, because whoever sets the bar first
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: is the next guy is going to win to eclips that.
- 1:18:42Speaker 10: The indication though, is that they're closed. If no other reason,
- 1:18:45Speaker 10: we're watching Devin Witherspoon participate fully and Gonzalez is doing
- 1:18:49Speaker 10: the same thing in New England, that's right, which is
- 1:18:52Speaker 10: a far cry from sitting in the same spot, what
- 1:18:55Speaker 10: about eight nine, ten years ago and looking out there
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: and seeing number twenty nine year old Thomas in a uniform,
- 1:19:00Speaker 10: well in a jersey, but with a bucket hat on
- 1:19:02Speaker 10: and his arms folded yep, and holding in as they
- 1:19:05Speaker 10: say in the business, the same thing.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Sorry to bring it out.
- 1:19:11Speaker 10: Think you're a hundred you're accurate? How crazy is that
- 1:19:17Speaker 10: to think?
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Now? Yes it is? Yes? Crazy? Is that? Yes it is?
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: That might have been the beginning of the demise of
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: one Pete Carroll.
- 1:19:26Speaker 10: By the way, uh that that situation, So who are
- 1:19:29Speaker 10: getting to right off the top. Well, because I'm following
- 1:19:32Speaker 10: the Beat Writer, Group Think Mentality, the Anthony Belt. Okay,
- 1:19:39Speaker 10: I know you guys had a chance to talk about
- 1:19:40Speaker 10: the podium yesterday, and I've heard nothing but great things
- 1:19:43Speaker 10: about talking to him. His story you've written about, everyone's
- 1:19:48Speaker 10: talked about. It's it's a great one.
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:19:50Speaker 10: And he's got an important role depending on even Worri's
- 1:19:54Speaker 10: health or lack thereof, and until then. But I think
- 1:19:58Speaker 10: he's would you say, even when even where it comes back,
- 1:20:01Speaker 10: he's on this roster. Yes, That's why I thought, like,
- 1:20:03Speaker 10: there's no messing around there.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: There's probably none of that taxing to the practice squad back.
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: No, I don't think so either. I think it was
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: damn cool.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: They gave him a ring.
- 1:20:12Speaker 10: Yeah, and the fact that he felt like he was
- 1:20:14Speaker 10: still a part of it. Such a cruel business, the NFL.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: What we didn't get into talking about in the show.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: He's a former Division two player at West Florida who
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: played for two junior colleges and then nobody wanted them.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: He couldn't play for anyone, no one would sign him,
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: so for twenty seventeen, in the middle of his college career,
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: he took a year off from school and didn't play
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: for anybody no football, and he was with a construction
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: company his dad owns in Georgia and was a volunteer
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: for his community church in rural Georgia. That's what the
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: starting nickel big nickel back for the Seahawks was doing
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: in twenty seventeen.
- 1:20:50Speaker 10: We'll we'll talk about that as well. So it's I'm
- 1:20:53Speaker 10: fascinated by talking about talking to him. I'm excited for that.
- 1:20:55Speaker 10: We're gonna do that coming up top of the show today.
- 1:20:59Speaker 10: We're gonna mally Wap at twelve twenty today.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Oh, that'll be entertaining and uplifting experience.
- 1:21:05Speaker 10: Why do you think the team struggling? I had people
- 1:21:08Speaker 10: texting it yesterday.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: Where are those guys?
- 1:21:11Speaker 10: And as the funny thing is, well, we're not gonna
- 1:21:13Speaker 10: do it. We're going a head to head with the
- 1:21:14Speaker 10: baseball game being on another station exactly. The funny thing
- 1:21:17Speaker 10: is a orrble time at one o'clock. We could have
- 1:21:19Speaker 10: done it because by then they were down seven to
- 1:21:20Speaker 10: two already. Anyway, they're coming on at twelve twenty, Joshian
- 1:21:23Speaker 10: one twenty and then John Lone at two o'clock talking
- 1:21:26Speaker 10: about Kyle Shanahan situation down there in the area.
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: So, among other things.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: That's the in for Neest. Next from twelve until three
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: here from Seahawks training camp. Tomorrow, we're gonna have Riley
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: Mills on the air. You'll hear from him in an
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: impressive training camp that he has had now that he's
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: fully healthy and back from his reconstructive me Sir, you
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: got his first career sack in the Super Bowl. Thanks
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: for listening, Jess and I will be back with you tomorrow.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: Have a great day. Ends up Next from Seahawks training
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: camp on ninety three point three kJ RFM
