- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: My name is Anne of Arm Nicole Hoes of the show I'm here my really good friend Chris Miles also the co-host and it's kind of funny that he actually knows the episode because usually we have a spreadsheet.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: that we keep that talks about what we're going to talk about and I usually talk I have the the weeks releases on and stuff like that he hasn't looked at this in god knows how long and he finally looked at it today because I saw him look at it so that's how he knows what episode it is but anyway kudos to you because you actually look at it so that's great
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: So on this episode, like we do with every episode, we talk about what's coming out this week.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: We have a couple movies to review this time.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: They are both movies, and of our likes to go to the cheap movies on Tuesday.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: So he's got a whale fall of a movie to review for us.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I've got a movie to review that's all about climbing mountains.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then later on in the episode.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: Oh wow, climb mountains every day.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: what mountain have you climbed high climb just to go to school uphill both ways when i was a kid right but you're not a kid anymore and you don't go to school anymore so what mountain did you climb today right you know i climb the mountain in Arizona just you know camel back today
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: not today.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: I said today.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: No, how could I climb it today?
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: I've been here.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: I asked a question.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: What mountain did you climb today?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: I met a four.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm asking questions every day.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Right, we all climb.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: So what mountain did you climb today?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: Well, actually, I had a mountain get coming here.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: I made a wrong turn.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: I had a turn around and go the other way.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: I consider that climbing a mountain.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: I found my way here.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: You're still logged into the sheet, by the way.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm not.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you are.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: I can see Andy Salgado right there.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm out of it.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're not.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: I am too.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, anyway.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, that's the way we do the episode folks.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, there's usually some sort of banter between the two of us, which is why.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Do you not know what banter means?
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was a banter was a better when the next batter up.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: No, and it's not, has nothing to do with pancakes either, or anything, cake batter, or anything like that?
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: Banner is an English word, and we'll get to that in a little bit, because it has something to do with one of my guilty pleasures.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: And something like that.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, let's get right into it.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Again, thank you guys so much for liking, listening, subscribing, sharing this with your friends and everything like that.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's because of that that we are the number one listen to podcast in the world, I believe, on the rise and that.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think we just passed the Kelsey Brothers.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: don't think we're not going to get a call from Taylor on that one right yeah because she's got nothing better than a call us but anyway all right let's say we're nice people it has nothing to do with us being nice it has everything to do with we're not even in the same bracket as she is oh we're out to
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: right exactly so anyway let's take a look at the movies that are coming out this week unfortunately not much coming out for streaming so we don't have too much to report on there however did you do your homework this week so which one do you have prepared because I know it's only one and the sun Clara and the sun which is a limited release
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: limited but still releasing at the end you don't talk about limited releases on the show well then why don't you go with your limited release that not everyone's gonna be able to see that that's okay whoever can can this I saw the preview for this at the show by the way I think it's that's why you're bringing it yeah it's kind of an interesting take on AI a little bit too it's kind of you know it's a non-humanoid
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: creature, creation, dystopian sci-fi drama directed by Taika Watiti, based on a 2020 investment novel by Nobel Prize winner, Kizuo Ishiguro.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: I hope you looked up phonetically how to say these people's name.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: And the screenplay adapted by Dawee, Waller, and YTD.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: The premise.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: I seriously don't think that's how you pronounce the last name.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yes it is.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, Titi.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: The premise is a post-war war, three future.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: which follows Clara, an artificial friend, AI friend, AF here, or if you want to follow the current logic and SF, I suppose.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: Solar Power Humanoid robot design is specifically to prevent teenage loneliness.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: I could have used that when I was in grammar school.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: She's eventually purchased and serves as a companion for her chronically ill friend, Josie, so Clara integrates into the home, innocent wonder fiercely, loyal, deep reverence for the healing power of the sun, begin to help mend the family's fractured relationships.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting cashew, Jenna Ortega, as Clara.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: Amy Adams as Chrissy, her mom, and Natasha Leona, I may have said that wrong, as the store manager and out of all the people in the world that you would think would never be in a movie like this Steve Busemi, I also unfeatured roles, which I thought was interesting.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it's an hour and 56 minutes.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's probably a good time.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's over 2 would have given good for this You clearly did not look hard up how to spell how to pronounce Tyku, what TT?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: I said that.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's not what you said.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: You said what TT?
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: I said what TT?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: No, you did not say TT.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: You said TT No, no, I said white TT.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: I live in Hawaii.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: We'll play three and a half years.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: We'll play and you didn't promise the first thing.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, this is a shop primarily in Auckland, and Wanaka, New Zealand.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: How cool is that?
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what I'm thinking.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's got a 27th score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it looked interesting from the preview, so I think people will like it.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: You'll be lucky if it's gonna be shown anywhere.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I like about it more than anything?
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: No, please tell us.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: Is that she doesn't turn around and kill the whole family?
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like some of these other AI generated creation kind of movies to have.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like Chuck E. Okay.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you're up next.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: I got more.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: Not he is not AI, but whatever.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: I got more, no Chuck E not AI,
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: probably the most highly anticipated film in the DC universe comes out this weekend.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: And of course brings a classic universal monster sensibility, of course, to the iconic shape shifting.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking, of course, about Batman villain Clayface, which comes out this weekend.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Interestingly, James Watkins is the director.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: He also wrote the screenplay.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: as co-wrote the screenplay with Hora Maestro Mike Flanagan, time, Tom Rees Harris stars as Matt Hagen or Clayface, also starring Naomi Aki, David Denki, Max McGillah, and of course Eddie Marson as well.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: That one I know is highly anticipated by a lot of people, especially those that came off watching the Lantern series on the DC.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: universe, which of course you can catch now all, I think it's nine episodes, if I remember correctly, are available for lanterns on HBO Max as well.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: So what's your next one since you seem to have done the homework this week?
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: Who is I?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: also limited release.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: You are terrible.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's see the wild would go ahead.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: Is that a limited release?
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, that is actually a nationwide release.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: Can I do that one?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because you're already dead while T. T. Yeah.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's, uh,
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: it's the it starts out saying it's the uh actually it's a director of debut by Sacha Baron Cohen and it's a sequel to his 2002 hit Ali G in the house in the house what show what movie you talking about oh wait a minute yeah you totally went the wrong way
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: And that movie is also on limited release the one that you just talked about as well.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: Well, wood?
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: Ali, yes.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: Where isn't this coming up?
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: So, Wildwood is directed by Travis Knight.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: He of course is the CEO of Lacca Studios and he's the director of Cumbo and the two strings.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: It is an animated movie, since he can't find his notes, so I'm just going to go through this.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's stop-motion animated.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fantasy feature from, of course, Lacca Studios, following a young girl on a rescue mission into a secret magical forest outside of none other than Portland.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: what a location.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: It starts Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Carrie Mulligan, Oh, Aquafina's in it as well.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Angela Bassett, she's in everything lately, isn't she?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, she's in 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: Tom Watts and then of course Richard E. Grant as well.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: So that is on the outlook there for movies.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have another one?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, but here's, I just want, it says this movie is described as family-friendly.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: But I have a feeling that younger kids are going to get a little scared with this movie.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I would say, if you're a parent, you might want to check out the trailer before you bring your six or seven year old.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: I would say.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I mean, that scared me a little bit.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, you're scared, but you scare easily, period.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't matter.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't scare easily.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: And every time you bring this up, I always go, it's an animated movie.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: And Angela Bassett, you forgot to say, is in it.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: I said Angela Bassett, perhaps if you had hearing aids, you'd be able to hear me.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: Did not hear it.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, you should listen, which is not a little trivia.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: This movie, how long did it take to make this movie?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: go ahead.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: Take a guess.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: I have no idea.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's stop animation, so it probably took at least three years.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: 16 years.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: From active development to physical production, 136 unique miniature sets, 2 and 31 practical puppets, 142,000 distinct facial expressions.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: I might, but I don't know that I would take any under 10 because I'm wondering why you're bringing up all this stuff if you're not going to go see them, and you could have saved that for when you did the review or if that's what you're going to do.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_02]: We say no.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right, up next.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to review who cares how many facial expressions there are when you do the review.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: People want to know if the movie was good or not, it's just saying.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Up next is Wicker directed by Alan Huston Fisher and Eleanor Wilson.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: This is supposed to move quickly.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's supposed to only be like a 15 minute segment.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now, not half hour, well, right.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's not supposed to be more than like five.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's for just supposed to talk about the moon.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Get going.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: You're the one that keeps talking and interrupting me.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: Are you doing right now?
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Are you done?
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: I had that one mistake.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: Are you done?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: You're not done.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Because you keep going.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Wicker, director Alan Hughes and Fisher at Eleanor Wilson.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's about outdoor furniture.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Seriously?
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you were done.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Zip it!
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: Keycass includes Olivia Coleman.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: She plays the ostracized Fisherwoman, Alex Scar's guard isn't it?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: He is basically the Wicker husband, Peter Dinklage's, and he plays the Basky Weaver.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: I will leave that comment alone because it's so wrong.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: Wicker is basically a unique horror thriller feature that basically you had to see theaters right before Halloween.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's all that they talk about.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I don't know if it's even worth watching, but uh, it's got some interesting cast in it.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: And uh, Scar's Guard, of course, no uh, stranger to horror movies as well.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have anymore, so, you know, you can zip it down.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler from Murder, also available, uh, to watch in theaters this week, a suspenseful chamber thriller starring John Reeves Davies, uh, Beth Vanier and Lynn and Paris Brosnan.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's of course tracks a publisher sent to Switzerland to convince the famous author Patricia Heismith or Patricia Heismith to hand over manuscript.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's directed by Anton Corbin, who is known for control and the America as well.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Last but not least, you can see everything and I'm seeing more that I want to see from the person that's sitting across for me as well.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's a unique theatrical project from 824 and it's got creator Nathan and fielders all work all over it as well.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: Also directed by Lance Oppenheim.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Cast includes a live with homes as herself.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: because she's being documented over a three-year period.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Billy Evans is her husband, no surprise there, Nathan Fielder, and then also amended Amanda Saifried, who previously played homes in the dropout.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, interesting picks all around.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: You pretty much said, you're either gonna go see that the circle of the moon movie, or whatever was called, or are you gonna go see Wildwood?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: Clara, Clara something, are you gonna go see Wildwood?
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Which one is it?
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: And the Japanese clock is ticking.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but you talked about two movies and you said you might go see either one of them.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm asking you would.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: See the DC movie probably.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: You are killing me.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: Which one was it?
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Wildwood.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the DC movie.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: What is the same that?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Because.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: Grass.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: You got a shout into the microphone like that.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: I really feel bad for all of our listeners and their ears right now.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: We can be feel bad.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: Feel bad.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Because you yelled.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you should apologize to the listeners for their ear drums.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: If you had headphones on, I'm sorry.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: You don't, good, finally.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Which means you're probably at work, and you shouldn't but why would you talk about two movies that are coming out this week if you're not going to go see that?
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just pick two movies that were coming out.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_02]: And even though the DC movie though, I didn't, I don't know why I didn't know that one.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: Because you didn't do your homework.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: So are you going to go see Clara, or are you going to go see Wobbo?
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to see the DC movie.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: Fine.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: You go see the DC movie called Clayface, and I'll override you with my review.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: Wait a minute, Clayface, and I didn't want to see that.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I will give you time to figure out what the hell you want to see, because clearly you are not on the mark right now, and we need to get this movement, because you're taking way too much time.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: I might do something to see.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's great, there's nothing streaming.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing new streaming this, I do.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: Were you listening to me?
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: I said there is nothing new streaming this week.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'll go see Clara in the sun.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you enjoy that.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then while you're talking, why don't you give us your review for a whale fall?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: I will.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, first and by the way, I got to say this, I'm going to say this to little opens.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: The biop.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: Jimmy Stewart movie opens November 6th, it's called Jimmy, the guy playing the lead and I can't think it was name, but it's great job.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a phenomenal movie.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to plug something, you need the information.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: And your son has ridiculed you about this for a very long time.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: My son cannot ridicule me.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's my son.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: But he does.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, way of all.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: Best part of the movie.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: best part of the movie for me.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: It ended.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't mean the best part was D&D.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: The best part was, it ended.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: This is like
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: The weirdest movie ever.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I can suspend this belief for just about anything.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: But this is beyond suspending this.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: You have to like check your brain at the door.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: And you don't have to know a lot about animals or oceanography or biology to know that this is the most implausible movie ever.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I have some facts on that.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, the movie starts out with a son looking for his dad who died by jumping in the ocean rather than in a hospital bed from cancer, which by the way, then never really get into, which is odd.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, he was a diver, he taught his son how to dive, and he was a big big, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, save the planet, save the whales, save all that, which was cool.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: But he was kind of a mean dad when in the flashback.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: So, so my question, is it a father to son relationship movie?
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: Is it a survivor movie?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: Is it just because it's way a week?
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: is it an update on Jonah?
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't understand what this movie was at all.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: Except that it is totally implausible on about a thousand fronts.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: The crew, I believe, worked really hard on trying to show what the inside of a sperm whale might look like, but they didn't get it in my opinion.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: They actually consulted Marine expert, they said, but the plot is just biologically impossible.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: They chose a sperm whale, which is the only whale in existence that can actually swallow a human being.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: But in reality, nothing can really survive in a way, especially a sperm whale's stomach.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's no oxygen, even though he had a tank.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: There's toxic methane gas.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: There's immense pressure that comes from the inside of the muscles inside the whale itself.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: sperm whales generally will tear large prey apart.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: There was a scene where the whale eats a giant squid and somehow the squid is still alive in the stomach with the guy.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: But that's not how they normally do it.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: And biologists tend to think that probably if a sperm whale did swallow a human
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: And the things that the guy was doing to the whale inside the whale, I don't know why the whale didn't just at some point say, hey, what the, I'll let you out already.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: It was just so, and actually the first, if you walked in after the first like 10 minutes and as you were coming up the aisle from the entrance,
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: the audio on the screen, you would think that you were walking into an adult film because it's just a bunch of grunts from the guy inside the whale.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: And the ending was just really like, I don't know, really, it's just a strange movie.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know where it was trying to go.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I guess the effects are cool.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: If that's what a whale's inside really looks like.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, nobody's ever done it.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was based on a true story, which is why I thought I want to go see it, but it really isn't.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's based loosely on two accounts of people who say they were inside a whale's mouth for a short period of time, but I don't know if that's necessarily true either.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: So it just, I thought of fell flat.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: Whale fell, not whale fall, flat.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to give it, you know, I don't like giving any movie a really horrible score unless it's incredibly bad like there's one, but I won't mention it.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: I give it a five.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's being a little generous.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just gonna say this and that's all I'm gonna say from the previews that movie that that movie did nothing for me And I was like really I don't think this is gonna be very good.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you I'm glad you weren't watched it and none of us have to watch it now But I do have a movie that you probably will want to
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: watch, especially if you like documentaries or pseudo documentaries, I guess if you want to call it that, of course, obviously we can't really use the actual characters or the actual people, like who did this famous climb, but we do have a movie representation of it, of course, directed by a claimed document documentarian, Jennifer Petum, she's a responsible for
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: which basically centers around Sherpa Tenzing, Norgate, and his historic 1953 summit of Mount Everest alongside Sir Edmund Hillary.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, you know,
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: I love if you're the kind of person that loves like mountain climbing movies and I'm not talking about like what was it was it the one was it over the top or was it No cliffhanger, right was that the semester still on movie cliffhanger?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was a trotace.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: That was terrible.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, it wasn't them.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was just as bad as over the top
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: Which is how it was way worse than cliffhanger.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: They were both bad.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, this movie is nothing.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's really true.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody understood you then, and they're not going to understand you now.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: The point is, is that this movie is nothing like it.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually purely enjoyable.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, this movie is going to reframe history, of course, by keeping tensing firmly at the center of the story, because obviously Edmund
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: when this happened, which interestingly enough, tending actually tried to climb the mountain a couple of times before that as well.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: So this would be the time that he actually made it.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the actor that is portraying tending, remarkably looks a lot like him.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: Gending Puttsnock is the actor who basically delivers a breakup performance.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, anchors the film.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's very quiet.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: very, very dignified, has a little bit of a boyish in some innocence rather, but a deep reverence for the mountain as well.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: And you get to see a little bit of his Tibetan faith in the movie, also.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: Edmund Hillary is portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, and I don't think there's anything this guy can't do that he does to a T. He doesn't really play up an exaggerated rivalry.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: He just is very respectful in his performance as Hillary William DeFoe is in it as John Hunt, of course, the Expedition Leader.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: He captures the rigid British ambition of the era without really turning the world into what I would call like a caricature.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a really great movie, of course, authentic breathtaking visuals.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, oh my gosh, there were some great mountain shots.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I watched this, I actually watched this twice.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I watched it the first time, just to kind of get the overall feel.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then I really went back and watched it.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I really took in like all the environmental shots and the mountain shots and stuff.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: And some of them are just, they're just amazing.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: Almost just breathtaking in certain areas.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, the film does dive into Tenzing's backstory and his Buddhist faith.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: So there's some stuff with that.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: There are flashbacks throughout the movie as well.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of an interesting way of storytelling.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of an old-fashioned, inspiring drama.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, with a lot of rope and heart.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: See what I did there.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: Um, obviously, people know what's going to happen with this.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is the historical climb of Mount Everest.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: So we really know where this is going to happen, really know where this is going to go.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: So there's no narrative to twist or anything like that, and it doesn't happen here.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it gets a little slow towards the end when they're actually like climbing the mountain on the last summit push, but before that with the flashbacks and giving you more backstory for tending, uh, and everything is just, uh,
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: I just gotta tell you it's it's it's a great movie and there's really a great Jennifer does a great job with you know just being really respectful for tending it's a visually stunning it's soul stirring there's some moments where I I had a little like a what if kind of thing
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: But it's great.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great movie.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: If you're the kind of person who loves survival, adventure dramas like 13 lives, or even just classic monitoring films, then I would say this is well worth adding to your Apple TV watch list.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: I would give it a nine.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's that good.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I watched a twice and I'm not a big huge like documentary kind of person in the first place and a lot of the documentaries now I see it feel like they really don't do justice to things anymore and I feel like we get more of these like biopic stuff And that's what I was afraid it was gonna happen with this.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: I was afraid it was gonna turn into like another one of these biopics
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it stayed very true and was very, very brilliantly done.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: So definitely put it on your Apple TV watch list.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't have Apple TV, find a friend.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: or phone a friend and watch it it's a great film and I personally enjoyed it and I think you will of course, too.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: So there you go.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's our reviews of Wellfall and Tensing and are you ready with your list of your guilty pleasures, your guilty TV pleasures?
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: You might want to step up to the microphone there a little bit.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: I am.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: One is a newer guilty pleasure, which is two and a half men.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: The original, only, which are out of shame.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: Why is that a guilty pleasure?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's a comedy.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know, but I mean, I'm watching it over and over again.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: And some episodes more than others.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, the guilty pleasure supposed to be those TV shows that you're afraid to admit you watch.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's what this is supposed to be about.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: So, how are you afraid to admit that you watch two and a half
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: because it's kind of a riskay, rather riskay show that a 72-year-old guy probably shouldn't necessarily be watching over that riskay, but whatever.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: Golding girls.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: Again, 72-year-old male shouldn't like Golding girls, but I love it.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, I'm gonna go all the way back
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to get to guilty pleasure, but it is for me.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: Barney Miller.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Barney Miller.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: Love me some Barney Miller.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: But you've admitted before that you love watch.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like none of these are none of these are guilty pleasures.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: These are all things aside from my guilty pleasures.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what a guilty pleasure is.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: A guilty pleasure is something that you like watching that you wouldn't admit to people that you watch and you've already admitted to people on other shows You want Barney Miller, right?
- 29:18[SPEAKER_02]: So that's not a guilty pleasure.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: I see it as a guilty pleasure Because my wife keeps telling me why you watching the same thing over and over again That's not a guilty pleasure.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: A guilty pleasure or something you wouldn't want to admit to people you watch Well, this last one is in that category because it's It's pretty out there.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: Okay
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's the gentleman on Netflix.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: Have you seen it?
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: And why is that a guilty question?
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: Because it's kind of really out there.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little more graphic than I normally would watch.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: See, I would think if you told me that you watch access Hollywood, I would think that's a guilty question.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: I watch personal edition.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't say special edition.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: I said access Hollywood.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: No, very specific reason for why I said that but there's a very little deep pleasure, but there's a very specific reason why I said access to that.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: That could be a guilty pleasure.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: Why what's that?
- 30:17[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's more along the lines of guilty pleasure.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, that's maybe that's a guilty pleasure then.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: I've only seen one very short opening, the opening of an episode of the Bachelor at, that's it.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: I refuse to watch that shit.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: So that's not a good one.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's all it is.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's all this.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: Really come on.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: One woman and two guys.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: Do you watch TMZ?
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: That would be a guilty pleasure too.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't watch any.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: I really don't watch reality shows.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_02]: I do watch one, everyone's in a while.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: I watch the American Ninja.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: That would be, that's kind of, but I don't watch it a lot.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: Did you ever watch Judge Judy or Jerry Springer or night court or not night court?
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: People's court or, you know, like any of those shows, those would all kind of be like guilty pleasures cops would be a guilty pleasure.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: Never watch cops.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, never watch cops.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: I was kind of easy to watch.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't watch cops because I was always worried that I'd be looking at the show and I'd recognize my front door.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: How about game shows in game shows that you are the game shows on a guilty pleasure.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the depending upon which game show you watch come on.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: I only watch the good ones.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_02]: Press your lock.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's not a guilty pleasure.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: A price is right.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_02]: A price is right.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_02]: Prices right.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: Prices right.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: Original can't watch it with you carries.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's a very specific guilty pleasure.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: You are very specific about who you will watch on the price is right So there you go any Miller I'm very specific about what Capcom part.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: Barney Miller is not a guilty pleasure It is to me.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and you're entitled to your own dumb stupid opinion.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: We've already been over this It's stupid Like if you said you watch keeping them with the Kardashians I would be like wow.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but no All right, so there you go.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: I Don't know why people
- 32:14[SPEAKER_02]: with no money are so enthralled by watching what people with too much money do because it's called phomo I don't know but it's just I'm sorry I like
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand why this country, people in this country, a great number of people in this country, are still so mesmerized by what happens to the royal family in England.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: The people we fought, you literally get away from.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: You literally just made us lose about 12 listeners.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, we didn't.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we did.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: We have people listening to us in England.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: No, people in England, they have a right.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: They should be enthralled with what happens with the royal family in England.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_02]: But we fought a war against them.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, Father.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: I guess they're being obsessed with it.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really, I'm sorry.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: No, when Princess Dye died, I felt horrible too.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: All of us did.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: She was a woman, let alone a royal.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: But these little,
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: Thinky things did happen with the royal family.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_02]: The people get so into here, I don't see it.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, I just don't see it.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's just me.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: You got?
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: And then we have a no king's dead.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: You're not good.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: Here, you're not good.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: And then something happens in England with the royal family.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody wants to know.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: People get up at two in the morning to watch this stuff.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't get it.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: So box get off.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm stepping off.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: Here's my feet.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: So let's move on to what some guilty pleasures really are and and I'm sorry that I'm admitting actually I'm not sorry that I'm admitting these two.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a little bit of a romantic at heart, so I'm sure it's no surprise that I love to watch love his blind on Netflix, have not missed a season of it, and roll your eyes as much as you want over there, shorty, but that's one of them.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: The other one is quite the opposite TV show, and that's too hot to handle.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, which is another weird dating show about people that are just way too hot.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason why I like watching it is because they're not supposed to get to know each other.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: We'll just put it that way.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: But then they find ways to do it and then they lose money for it.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like really seriously, you can't just like keep it in your pants.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, um, another guilty pleasure.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: excuse me another guilty pleasure for me um would be a show from back in the day which was called blind date which was where cameras would follow people out on a blind date that they hooked up uh people would didn't know them each other and then the camera could just follow them around to record how the date went um and some of them were a little crazy uh but i also think that's because people knew the cameras are around
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: Jersey Shore is another one of my guilty pleasures haven't watched it recently But like back in the day when it was on that was kind of one of those that like yeah I watched it it was crazy it was dumb.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: I will totally admit that but it was just interesting to see Where these people went and then as far as I have a game show guilty pleasure
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: Family feud is one of them almost always cannot miss an episode of family feud also wheel of fortune as well And then a show that I've seen I think it's coming back or at least maybe I haven't seen all the episodes But tax taxicab confessions
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: Which is interesting because the passengers kind of do real talk about their personal life and don't realize that they're actually being recorded.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I feel like they know they're being recorded, but that's it as well.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: Also I like cash cab.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: love that show as well too.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: So that's just a few of my guilty pleasures.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure I'm missing out on a few of them because I can't think of the name of them right now.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know there's one on Netflix that I was into for, well that's the other thing is that like some of these you just you watch like a couple of seasons and then you just go okay yeah no.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's not what you thought it was going to be or, you know, something like that.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: But that's, that's that, that's a list of my guilty pleasures, first things that I like to watch as well.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the episode folks, thanks again so much for listening and liking subscribing and doing things you do.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to do it for us episode 57 will be locked and loaded.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: We have
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: Some things to talk about are where we're going to go with things so we don't actually have a theme for the show just yet But of course we'll be back next week with the review of clay face and what's the movie you're gonna review?
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: Clara Clara and the son there you go Clara and the son I'm gonna write that down right now because otherwise I will forget you will you need to look at the notes more often Chris if you wouldn't mind seriously.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_02]: We'd really help to show I
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know I'm gonna I'm gonna go in here and go and look at the last time you actually looked at these notes Okay, and then we'll go from there You know I'm about the government.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: I keep track of things.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: I like to have things organized and you know like in a nice little folder So we know what's going on as opposed to just really nearly just running through this, you know See yeah, D. I don't care you can call it OCD as much as you want other people would call it organized
- 37:41[SPEAKER_02]: so you write a letter, check the stove, write a letter, check the stove, whatever that means.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that's going to do it for us.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: Folks, episode 57 will be up next week.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: Join us where we talk about Clara and the son.
