- 0:03Speaker 1: 7, wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Up next to
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. After being out for
- 0:15Speaker 1: three days, fighting, I meant to say fighting influenza B.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It is good to be back here on 987. I'll
- 0:23Speaker 1: give you the full details about my battle in just
- 0:26Speaker 1: a bit here on the shock circuit. Stay with us.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Great to be back with you. Rather, after a really
- 0:35Speaker 1: immense battle with influenza B again at just past 7 a.m.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I'll share with you my entire journey.
- 0:41Speaker 1: But I've been telling friends and family this, it definitely
- 0:44Speaker 1: feels a lot worse than COVID. No, I kid you not.
- 0:47Speaker 1: But hey, on the bright side, it was raining almost
- 0:51Speaker 1: the whole of last night, I would say in the
- 0:53Speaker 1: Bishan area. Hopefully for your area as well, and it's
- 0:57Speaker 1: given us a very nice cool start to Monday morning.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And as I read the PSI forecast, it looks like
- 1:04Speaker 1: we're in the green for a while. It ranges between
- 1:07Speaker 1: 70 to 100.
- 1:10Speaker 1: So hopefully you have some activities planned with friends and family,
- 1:13Speaker 1: take full advantage of the
- 1:15Speaker 1: I don't want to say permanent yet, but maybe say
- 1:17Speaker 1: temporary clean air, because looking at some of the hotspots
- 1:21Speaker 1: that's coming off from our neighboring areas, yeah, there's one
- 1:25Speaker 1: dense haze part where if the winds are not to
- 1:29Speaker 1: our favor, it just might blow back to Singapore again.
- 1:32Speaker 1: So again, if you want your full details and your
- 1:34Speaker 1: full breakdowns, please go on to our friends over at hayes.gov.sg.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It seems like I've missed a lot over the last
- 1:43Speaker 1: 3 or 4 days, not with you here on 987,
- 1:45Speaker 1: but not to worry, we'll summarize the past weekend as well.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Loads of things were going down here in Singapore and
- 1:52Speaker 1: to you, if you still took part in the Garmin
- 1:56Speaker 1: run yesterday, if you're supposed to do the half marathon category, well,
- 2:00Speaker 1: they brought it back down to 10 km because of
- 2:02Speaker 1: the haze and all that, but if you still did it,
- 2:04Speaker 1: well done to you.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Hopefully, you ran your best. I've been seeing some stories
- 2:11Speaker 1: of people's personal best being shown off online and on
- 2:15Speaker 1: social media, as you should, by the way. I wish
- 2:18Speaker 1: I was there with you, but yeah, uh, given how
- 2:21Speaker 1: I just recovered from influenza B and all that, I
- 2:23Speaker 1: think better not. I.
- 2:24Speaker 1: To just take my time to go back into preparing
- 2:28Speaker 1: for the BYD full marathon. That's happening maybe say in
- 2:32Speaker 1: slightly over a month's time, December 4th, 5th, and 6th,
- 2:36Speaker 1: so please train well for that and may the weather
- 2:39Speaker 1: be in our favor. If not,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I guess indoor running has to stay for a while.
- 2:44Speaker 1: If you just joined us on this Monday, we say
- 2:47Speaker 1: hello and it's good to be back here on 987
- 2:49Speaker 1: as well. That's it. One of my favorite talk shows
- 2:52Speaker 1: is the Graham Norton Show, and because Graham Norton is
- 2:56Speaker 1: so flamboyantly and unapologetically himself as a host, and whoever
- 3:02Speaker 1: he interviews, there's always a rose session guaranteed.
- 3:06Speaker 1: And he's able to get them to tell the most
- 3:08Speaker 1: ridiculous and funny stories in their lives so far. So
- 3:12Speaker 1: I think for this session, it was Robert Irwin.
- 3:15Speaker 1: He he had Hannah Waddingham. If you follow Ted Lasso,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you know that she plays Rebecca. There was Cate Blanchett
- 3:22Speaker 1: and the Prince himself, Prince William, actually joined in on
- 3:27Speaker 1: the talk show panel, and this was where he told
- 3:30Speaker 1: a story that most people did not expect. Have a
- 3:34Speaker 1: listen to this. Yeah, being a policeman, I thought was
- 3:36Speaker 1: quite cool, and then I went through a phase where
- 3:38Speaker 1: I wanted to be a DJ which didn't go very well.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And I came up with a name. I, I was
- 3:44Speaker 1: called DJ Zara with an X. It wasn't good. But
- 3:48Speaker 1: here's the thing, he did want to become a DJ.
- 3:52Speaker 1: That means he must have had practice maybe during his
- 3:55Speaker 1: uni days or did he go undercover to some club
- 3:59Speaker 1: in the UK or maybe say in Europe and
- 4:02Speaker 1: Try his DJing skills. You never know. You could've been
- 4:05Speaker 1: at a party that Prince William was actually known as
- 4:09Speaker 1: DJ Zara with an X. Imagine this. You are being
- 4:13Speaker 1: just 20 years old. You're only just 20 years old
- 4:17Speaker 1: and you're already among the greats when it comes to
- 4:21Speaker 1: Formula One.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You already have one hand on the world driver's title,
- 4:26Speaker 1: so congratulations to Kimmy and Tonelli for winning the American
- 4:32Speaker 1: Grand Prix in Austin. And in case you missed the race,
- 4:36Speaker 1: here's what happened towards the end of it, the winning
- 4:39Speaker 1: commentary for Kimmy and Tonelli.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Now though, the lone star in the Lone Star State
- 4:44Speaker 2: is Kimmy Antonelli, who's going round the final corner to
- 4:48Speaker 2: win the US Grand Prix in 2026 and place yet
- 4:54Speaker 2: another hand tentatively by the world championship trophy. Nice work, Kimmy.
- 5:00Speaker 2: That was a beautiful drive, mate. Awesome job by strategy.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Perfectly executed race. Well done, mate.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yes!
- 5:09Speaker 1: So he has a chance to actually win it for
- 5:12Speaker 1: real at the Mexican Grand Prix happening next weekend. Let's
- 5:16Speaker 1: see what happens. Again, congratulations to Kimmy and Tonelli. Full highlights,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I think of the Austin Grand Prix available for you
- 5:24Speaker 1: now on YouTube if you have maybe say almost 10
- 5:26Speaker 1: minutes to spare. And I do want to give a
- 5:29Speaker 1: big shout out to Anne Nicole Lex, as well as
- 5:33Speaker 1: to boss Janice here on 987. Thank you very much.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And yeah, if you've been following us for the entire
- 5:42Speaker 1: morning show, not just today, but maybe say the whole
- 5:44Speaker 1: of last week as well, you would have heard me
- 5:47Speaker 1: on Monday and Tuesday, and then Wednesday, it was Sonia
- 5:51Speaker 1: on her own. Thursday and Friday, it was Anne Nicole
- 5:55Speaker 1: covering for us because Sonia's in Taipei for a holiday
- 5:58Speaker 1: and she's back with us tomorrow morning. For yours truly,
- 6:01Speaker 1: I think this began for me on Monday.
- 6:05Speaker 1: where I started to get a little bit of chills,
- 6:08Speaker 1: but was still strong enough to come to work and
- 6:10Speaker 1: do my show and all that. Tuesday night, that was
- 6:14Speaker 1: where it hit.
- 6:16Speaker 1: had a high fever, nose was running, my chest was tight,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and for every 5 steps I took, I felt like collapsing. I,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I kid you not. Went to my nearest doctor and yep,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I didn't know there was now a test kit where
- 6:30Speaker 1: you could just, not just test for COVID, you could
- 6:33Speaker 1: test for 3 other types of flus as well. So
- 6:36Speaker 1: there was influenza A or B, there was RSV and
- 6:38Speaker 1: 1 other flu, which I can't really recall, and true enough,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I had influenza B and look,
- 6:46Speaker 1: It, it, it felt like hell. I, I'm gonna be
- 6:48Speaker 1: absolutely honest with you. The doctor prescribed me this medication
- 6:52Speaker 1: called Tamiflu, where one of the side effects of this
- 6:57Speaker 1: medication is insomnia. So, night one all the way till
- 7:00Speaker 1: night 4, I, I took the dosage in the morning,
- 7:03Speaker 1: but yes, I think the meds were so strong that
- 7:06Speaker 1: I couldn't sleep at night. I kept waking up and
- 7:09Speaker 1: it really felt like hell. My chest was tight, it
- 7:12Speaker 1: was burning whenever I coughed, the fever was still there,
- 7:14Speaker 1: the chills were there.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And I officially, at least in my point of view,
- 7:18Speaker 1: say that influenza B, going through it is worse than COVID, really.
- 7:22Speaker 1: At least COVID, um, you were able to rest for
- 7:25Speaker 1: a little while, but for influenza B, really the medication
- 7:28Speaker 1: was that strong and I was just kept awake. So,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I think it was on Saturday where I felt OK.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I was slowly getting better and yesterday was just
- 7:40Speaker 1: The final day, the tail end of it. I'm still coughing,
- 7:43Speaker 1: still a little bit nasal, but strong enough to be
- 7:45Speaker 1: back at work and I'm
- 7:47Speaker 1: Happy to be here because spending 3 days at home
- 7:50Speaker 1: doing absolutely nothing, it was actually painful for me. So,
- 7:54Speaker 1: there you go. Please get yourself checked. If, for example,
- 7:58Speaker 1: you do feel like a cold or a flu that's
- 8:00Speaker 1: oncoming in your body system, just make sure you go
- 8:03Speaker 1: get yourself checked and yeah, really not to sound like
- 8:06Speaker 1: a worried parent, but stock up on your vitamin C.
- 8:09Speaker 1: When we come back though, let's give you some highlights
- 8:12Speaker 1: on whatever happened in Jakarta for yay.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Previously known as Kanye West, and if you're a Kanye
- 8:18Speaker 1: West fan, otherwise he's now known as Yay, you might
- 8:21Speaker 1: have made the trip to Indonesia to catch his concert,
- 8:24Speaker 1: his only Southeast Asian stop when it comes to the
- 8:28Speaker 1: bully tour, and I was watching all the highlights of
- 8:31Speaker 1: my friends who were there. I want to give a
- 8:33Speaker 1: shout out to people like Faka Faz, for example. He
- 8:36Speaker 1: was there. And this video that I'm about to play,
- 8:39Speaker 1: maybe say close to 30 seconds off for you.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Was Kanye West actually making the entire 78,000 strong crowd
- 8:48Speaker 1: sing Heartless, not once, not twice, but 8 times. Shout
- 8:54Speaker 1: out DJ Jade Rasi for posting this video on her socials.
- 8:58Speaker 1: It's since gone viral. Have a listen to it.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So, on the screen, you could see him looking visibly upset,
- 9:26Speaker 1: but that's Kanye West's default setting face. But I think
- 9:30Speaker 1: deep down he was having fun because on social media,
- 9:34Speaker 1: people were saying, hey, yay, how can you troll the Indonesian.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Crowd. How, how can you troll 78,000 people strong? Yay
- 9:41Speaker 1: has since responded, and I can't really read to you
- 9:44Speaker 1: the full tweet, but he said he was feeling the vibe,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and that's what we call rock and roll. So yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 1: he was definitely enjoying it. And look, if your stage
- 9:53Speaker 1: set is yourself on top of a projection that's the
- 9:57Speaker 1: entire world.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Look, that's Kanye West's things, and that's what Jay does best,
- 10:03Speaker 1: and he's warned us about it. He says he feels
- 10:06Speaker 1: on top of the world from all his previous songs
- 10:08Speaker 1: and now that he actually does it for a stage set.
- 10:11Speaker 1: That's one amazing thing that only Kanye West is.
- 10:14Speaker 1: capable of doing was just catching up with all the
- 10:17Speaker 1: news the past weekend here in Singapore and whatever's happening
- 10:20Speaker 1: internationally as well. All sorts of things happening in Paris, France,
- 10:25Speaker 1: all the protests, and then, of course, when it comes
- 10:28Speaker 1: to
- 10:29Speaker 1: What our neighbors do might affect us here in Singapore.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Something about gas supply being cut from you know who.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I won't touch on too much of that. The full
- 10:39Speaker 1: article is available for you on Channel News Asia. And then,
- 10:43Speaker 1: this video has kind of since gone viral on social
- 10:46Speaker 1: media and it's become a mystery. It involves what looks
- 10:51Speaker 1: like to be a teenage boy, driving a bus.
- 10:57Speaker 1: In a heavy vehicle car park here in Singapore, it's
- 11:00Speaker 1: circulating and the caption of the video says, Welcome on
- 11:04Speaker 1: board bus 67. So, it's not the actual bus number, no,
- 11:08Speaker 1: I think the the OP might have used the 67 meme,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and because he's a teenage boy in glasses.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Driving the bus and all that. So yeah, it's kind
- 11:16Speaker 1: of gone viral. So the big mystery is how did
- 11:19Speaker 1: they even gain access to the bus? Is that even
- 11:22Speaker 1: a teenager, because these days people could be 21 and 22,
- 11:26Speaker 1: but they still look 14, must be very good skincare.
- 11:29Speaker 1: But of course, the comments section, some of them are saying,
- 11:33Speaker 1: To this boy's credit, he drives better than some actual
- 11:36Speaker 1: bus drivers here in Singapore, and at least he doesn't zigzag,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and people are saying, how did he even get access
- 11:43Speaker 1: and why is this even posted online? And now because
- 11:46Speaker 1: of this video,
- 11:48Speaker 1: There's a manhunt underway for those responsible, and let's see
- 11:51Speaker 1: what happens. Yeah. If you want to have a watch
- 11:54Speaker 1: and judge the driving skills, even though it should not happen,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I repeat, I emphasize, it should not happen. Uh, again,
- 12:02Speaker 1: just simply do a search on TikTok, YouTube or Instagram reels.
- 12:06Speaker 1: It's there for you.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And I must actually say, it's quite good driving, and
- 12:11Speaker 1: I would think that for us Singaporeans, we are a
- 12:14Speaker 1: patient bunch. And then, sometimes when it comes to a sound,
- 12:20Speaker 1: a simple sound that might trigger you, and all of
- 12:24Speaker 1: a sudden, all patience goes out the window.
- 12:28Speaker 1: We could be talking about drilling sounds. Someone doing home
- 12:31Speaker 1: renovations or maybe say your block could be going through HIP.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It could be the sound of the crows, or the
- 12:38Speaker 1: koel bird just waking you up in the morning at
- 12:40Speaker 1: 4 a.m. for no apparent reason, or maybe in present day,
- 12:46Speaker 1: it could be the sound of this.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, people playing pickleball and you're like, hey, hello, it's
- 12:56Speaker 1: too close to where I live. Go and play somewhere else,
- 12:58Speaker 1: you know. Again, it's an ongoing debate here on social media. So,
- 13:03Speaker 1: I want to open up the phone lines again over
- 13:05Speaker 1: at 669-11-987 or you can WhatsApp us at 90050987. Maybe
- 13:11Speaker 1: I can do a survey for you here on 987.
- 13:15Speaker 1: What is the one sound that triggers you the most?
- 13:18Speaker 1: It could be anything, really.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Just to know what might throw your patience out the
- 13:24Speaker 1: window as well. And if we do like your answer,
- 13:27Speaker 1: or if you're able to relate to it, what's coming
- 13:29Speaker 1: your way? A very nice $100 Little Farms voucher. You
- 13:33Speaker 1: can discover a taste of Italy at Little Farms from
- 13:37Speaker 1: now till 18th of November 2026 in partnership with the
- 13:41Speaker 1: Italian trade agency. This celebration.
- 13:44Speaker 1: brings Italian produce and culinary traditions to Singapore, and you
- 13:48Speaker 1: can enjoy a specially curated Italian dinner at Little Farm's table,
- 13:52Speaker 1: Tanglin Mall on 6th November, priced at $88 plus plus
- 13:57Speaker 1: per pack. The menu features Italian favorites including wild mushroom
- 14:01Speaker 1: risotto with truffle, chicken Milanese, hopefully I'm saying that correctly, Milanese.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I might have butchered it. I'm so sorry. Grilled beef
- 14:10Speaker 1: strip loin and tiramisu. There you go. So, 669-11987. Call
- 14:16Speaker 1: us or WhatsApp us 90050987. The one sound that you
- 14:22Speaker 1: hear here in our country and it just triggers you.
- 14:26Speaker 1: On the topic of the one sound that triggers you
- 14:29Speaker 1: here in Singapore, the one sound, the moment you hear it.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Your patience wears thin, it goes out the window, you
- 14:36Speaker 1: just go, Oh, please stop. It could be a battle
- 14:40Speaker 1: between renovation works, maybe even your neighbors playing pickleball, or
- 14:45Speaker 1: the birds. 669-119-87 to call us or WhatsApp us at 90050987.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I want to say good morning to WL on WhatsApp.
- 14:57Speaker 1: You type, hey Joakim, people talking loudly or switching on
- 15:01Speaker 1: their speakers loudly in public transport and or at the
- 15:04Speaker 1: hawker center's food court. Now the situation is much better,
- 15:08Speaker 1: but I realize the one thing that irritates me more
- 15:10Speaker 1: is them turning the volume to not so loud, but
- 15:13Speaker 1: you can still hear it. It's like a background mumbling
- 15:16Speaker 1: sound that irks me to the max, and it's usually
- 15:18Speaker 1: these AI dramas. Super annoying and very hard to.
- 15:23Speaker 1: No, thank you so much for your text WL. Go
- 15:25Speaker 1: to the phone lines, Alvin, what's your story? OK, and
- 15:32Speaker 1: it is the fingernails, especially when you're on public transport,
- 15:36Speaker 1: you know, and then they start to flicker with their fingernails.
- 15:39Speaker 1: It really annoys me. OK, wait, uh, when you say
- 15:43Speaker 1: flicker as in like use their hands and do it,
- 15:45Speaker 1: or do they actually cut their fingernails using the fingernail cutter?
- 15:49Speaker 1: No, so they use one of their fingers and then
- 15:52Speaker 1: uh they flick their nail with another fingernail. I see,
- 15:55Speaker 1: they pick on it. There you go. Thank you so much.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Thank you so much for your call. Take care, Alvin. Bye-bye. Again,
- 16:01Speaker 1: if you just joined us, I would think for us Singaporeans,
- 16:04Speaker 1: we we we could be a patient bunch. Majority of
- 16:07Speaker 1: us are patient, and then maybe say you think to yourself, oh,
- 16:11Speaker 1: it's a Monday, I'm on leave. I get to sleep in,
- 16:15Speaker 1: and all of a sudden at 9 a.m. sharp, you
- 16:17Speaker 1: hear this.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Yeah. That one sound could have thrown your patience out
- 16:27Speaker 1: the window. So, 669-119-87 or you can WhatsApp us at 90050987.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Wanna say good morning to username, it's me on WhatsApp,
- 16:40Speaker 1: who says, hey, Joakim, noise that annoys me the most
- 16:43Speaker 1: is dragging furniture or the playing of marbles from the
- 16:47Speaker 1: above unit, OK?
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yeah, whether it's really someone playing marbles or the plumbing
- 16:54Speaker 1: issues or it could be something else entirely, we'll never know.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I want to also say good morning to Amanda, who
- 17:00Speaker 1: says the koel bird, woo woo, and rooster at 5 a.m.
- 17:04Speaker 1: in the morning. OK, this one I relate to you
- 17:06Speaker 1: because for me it's the crows and they go off
- 17:09Speaker 1: as early as 4:30 a.m. in my area of Bishan.
- 17:12Speaker 1: On the topic about that one sound.
- 17:15Speaker 1: That just annoys you here in Singapore, could be anything.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Wanna go to WhatsApp and say good morning to Yusuf?
- 17:23Speaker 1: Yusuf says, morning, Joe. Just yesterday, I heard this chant
- 17:27Speaker 1: around midnight. I can't make up the tune, but it's
- 17:29Speaker 1: something like, you're getting sacked in the morning.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I tuned the TV. I turned the TV on and
- 17:37Speaker 1: I saw Manchester United losing 3-0, tongue in cheek, just kidding,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and have a blessed Monday morning. You know what, Yusuf?
- 17:45Speaker 1: It's gonna happen now. Poor Michael Carrick crying in the
- 17:48Speaker 1: stadium and all that. It's very sad to see. Uh,
- 17:51Speaker 1: one coming in from Johanns. Hello, Johanns. Johans, you say, morning, Joe.
- 17:57Speaker 1: For me, it's the car or motorbikes that are revving
- 18:00Speaker 1: up in the middle of the night, like there's no tomorrow. Yeah.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I, I've heard that one too many times as well
- 18:05Speaker 1: around my neighborhood. Go to the phone line is 669-119-87. Alan,
- 18:11Speaker 1: what's your take on this one? OK, when I used
- 18:13Speaker 1: to work in the office, then, uh, I have my
- 18:16Speaker 1: colleagues that, uh, sniffles like every minute, every few seconds
- 18:21Speaker 1: you will hear him sniffle. OK, so it's like we
- 18:25Speaker 1: keep reminding him to like blow his nose and then
- 18:28Speaker 1: he will still come back, you see, so that that
- 18:30Speaker 1: sound I have become very sensitive to that sound. Oh no.
- 18:35Speaker 1: So when I was like, uh, taking public transport, you
- 18:37Speaker 1: when when you hear the sound, people sniffling, then it's
- 18:40Speaker 1: like you, I'm controlling the urge, you know, to just
- 18:43Speaker 1: tell him to just blow your nose, man. OK. About
- 18:46Speaker 1: to bring to a close today's question about the one
- 18:50Speaker 1: sound that annoys you the most. Again, I say majority
- 18:53Speaker 1: of us Singaporeans, we we can be quite patient, but
- 18:56Speaker 1: then when we hear the one thing that triggers us
- 18:59Speaker 1: the most, it could be the sounds of drilling.
- 19:02Speaker 1: It could be the sounds of the koal bird or
- 19:04Speaker 1: the roosters or maybe someone playing pickleball just below where
- 19:07Speaker 1: you live. It could annoy you. It could trigger you,
- 19:10Speaker 1: and you do what you can to tahan, but sometimes
- 19:14Speaker 1: push comes to shove. So I wanna go back to
- 19:17Speaker 1: WhatsApp and just read two more texts coming your way.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Wanna say hello to Randy. Randy says, Morning, Joakim. I
- 19:23Speaker 1: think the one noise that really annoys me is the handing,
- 19:27Speaker 1: handling of.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Styrofoam box with the screeching sound and also the marker
- 19:32Speaker 1: sound on the whiteboard when you're writing too hard. All
- 19:35Speaker 1: the screeching noises make your skin and hair stand up.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I know exactly what you mean, Randy. Back in secondary
- 19:42Speaker 1: school when my school just introduced the whiteboard marker, yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Even I'm getting a bit of the goosebumps as well.
- 19:49Speaker 1: One more coming in from Andy. Andy, you say, morning Joakim.
- 19:54Speaker 1: The noise that really annoys me the most is when
- 19:56Speaker 1: someone sends me a voice note while they are eating.
- 19:59Speaker 1: And the chewing sounds are maximized because of it's uh
- 20:03Speaker 1: because it's a voice note. Swallow first lah, before sending
- 20:07Speaker 1: out the voice notes. There you go. I mean, simple etiquette, right?
- 20:11Speaker 1: To all the callers and texters earlier about that one
- 20:15Speaker 1: sound that really triggers us and it just throws our
- 20:19Speaker 1: patiences out the window. But of course, there could only
- 20:22Speaker 1: be one winner of the $100 Little Farms voucher.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And I want to give it to Alan, who texted
- 20:30Speaker 1: us and called us earlier. Thank you so much for
- 20:32Speaker 1: your call, Alan.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Talking about how the sound of someone sniffing the mucus
- 20:38Speaker 1: back in, it could be a bit of a triggering
- 20:41Speaker 1: sound for you and honestly, yes, because sometimes even when
- 20:44Speaker 1: you hear it, the, the urge just offers some that
- 20:47Speaker 1: someone a piece of tissue saying, hey, why don't you
- 20:50Speaker 1: just blow your nose out and throw it away when
- 20:52Speaker 1: it's most convenient for you as compared to hearing the sound.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Every 5 seconds or 10 seconds, but there you go.
- 21:01Speaker 1: This was me the whole of last week. All thanks
- 21:03Speaker 1: to influenza B, but thankfully feeling a lot better now
- 21:06Speaker 1: and I'm good enough to be back on air here
- 21:08Speaker 1: with you on 987. So again, Alan, congratulations. We'll get
- 21:12Speaker 1: your email very soon and that $100 little vouchers experience.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Uh, little, little farms vouchers. There you go. It is
- 21:21Speaker 1: coming your way. Couple of things to look forward to
- 21:23Speaker 1: in the year 2027, especially when it comes to social
- 21:27Speaker 1: media for children and teenagers, at least here in Singapore,
- 21:32Speaker 1: where Singapore, we plan to introduce new legislation to make
- 21:36Speaker 1: it safer.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So social media platforms will need stronger age verification measures
- 21:42Speaker 1: to identify younger users and apply appropriate safeguards while complying
- 21:47Speaker 1: with data privacy laws. Social media platforms may have to
- 21:51Speaker 1: restrict inappropriate content and unwanted contact, including messages from strangers,
- 21:57Speaker 1: and
- 21:58Speaker 1: Your usual features like autoplay, infinite scrolling, and daily usage
- 22:03Speaker 1: limits are being considered to reduce excessive social media use
- 22:08Speaker 1: and hopefully, we will have better online safety when it
- 22:13Speaker 1: comes to the teenagers and children here in Singapore. And
- 22:16Speaker 1: here's a worrying stat. Checks over 7000 apps found 65
- 22:21Speaker 1: apps with harmful content.
- 22:23Speaker 1: And 24 with incorrect age ratings. These apps were removed
- 22:28Speaker 1: or re-rated after IMDA intervened. So, there you go. And hopefully,
- 22:34Speaker 1: this isn't one of those cases where, yeah, they give
- 22:36Speaker 1: you the legislation, they, they run the whole safety thing,
- 22:39Speaker 1: but people still find a way to bypass it. I,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I really hope it doesn't happen. This is a whole
- 22:45Speaker 1: new problem now.
