- 0:00This is a Tabernacle tidbit, a bite sized Tabernacle talk of 5
- 0:05minutes or less to help you get through your day when you only
- 0:09have a little bit of time. We hope this helps you to know
- 0:11Christ, groan His Word, and show His love to others.
- 0:14Let's get started. Welcome back to Tabernacle
- 0:18Tidbits and today is Second Timothy chapter 4 and verse #21
- 0:25going to say this as briefly as possible.
- 0:27So today is the second to last Tabernacle Tidbit episode, at
- 0:31least for a season, and I've really enjoyed going through
- 0:35there's about 82 or so verses in Second Timothy and I have loved
- 0:39walking through this for the past several months with y'all
- 0:44and hope that it's been an encouragement to you.
- 0:45All right, Second Timothy chapter 4 verse #21 Paul is
- 0:49writing to Timothy. Paul's writing from prison be
- 0:52the last letter that we have of his and inspired scripture.
- 0:54And he tells Timothy, make every effort to come before winter.
- 0:58Ubulus greets you as do Putin's Linus, Claudia and all the
- 1:03brothers and sisters here. Paul, he is in a lonely spot, a
- 1:09spot where as we heard in some previous verses, he was all
- 1:14alone that everyone else except for Luke and a couple of others
- 1:20even mentioned in this verse, Ubulus, Putin's Linus and
- 1:25Claudia and the brothers and sisters.
- 1:26But as far as those that were actually presently with Paul,
- 1:31maybe in this prison ministering to him, there wasn't a lot of
- 1:36people. And because of the love that
- 1:38Paul had for Timothy, that he had discipled him, he had
- 1:42preached with him, he had gone through so many life
- 1:47difficulties with Timothy. Now he says, I want you to hurry
- 1:51because I want to see you again before I pass.
- 1:56And here he says, make every effort to come before winter
- 1:58that what Timothy was going to be bringing with him, including
- 2:02the the scrolls, the parchments, the the cloak that Paul had left
- 2:07with with Karpis in the city of Troas.
- 2:13Paul says, I really need these things, and it would be a great
- 2:18help to myself and to my spirit if you were to bring these
- 2:23things here. This word make every effort.
- 2:27It's the word spudazzo in Greek. It's, it's to proceed quickly.
- 2:31It's to be especially conscientious in discharging an
- 2:36obligation. It's to take pains to do
- 2:39something. It's to be zealous or eager to
- 2:41make every effort to do this. There are times in your life and
- 2:46in my life where we can't just go about our tasks
- 2:50lackadaisically that we've got to put, if you will, some, some
- 2:55pedal to the metal. We've got a we've got to go
- 2:58fast. We've got to put some effort and
- 3:00some energy in. Today more than ever before, it
- 3:04can be really easy just to coast.
- 3:07But in our lives, in our love for others, may we not just be
- 3:13lazy. May we be intentional and
- 3:16energetic and purposeful in how we love other people.
- 3:21That just here, as Paul is telling Timothy, I want you to
- 3:25exert yourself in order to meet this need that is in my life.
- 3:30May we have that love for others.
- 3:33Can I ask you today, when was the last time that you told your
- 3:39spouse that you love them? That you're proud of them, that
- 3:43you are grateful for them? I know if they're a human, they
- 3:47are imperfect, but they need to hear that from you.
- 3:50When was the last time that you told your kids that you love
- 3:54them? That you were so glad that God
- 3:57gave them to you? That you are proud of what they
- 4:00have accomplished, that you are praying for their walk with the
- 4:04Lord, and that you would do anything to help them.
- 4:08When was the last time that you told one of your brothers or
- 4:11sisters at church how much you love them and how much you love
- 4:16getting to hear them sing to the Lord?
- 4:19Or when was the last time that you told your pastor, hey, I'm
- 4:22thankful for you. I'm thankful for maybe a message
- 4:25or I'm thankful for some some prayer or some counsel that he's
- 4:29given. When was the last time that you
- 4:31told a coworker, Hey, you make coming to work enjoyable,
- 4:35Thanks. Thanks for always having a
- 4:37smiling face. Thanks for the jokes.
- 4:40There are so many ways that we can intentionally be a blessing
- 4:45to other people. Let's take advantage of it.
- 4:49Jesus does that for us that every single day we can open up
- 4:52the Word of God and we can read about the love that Jesus has
- 4:56for us. We can read about our forever
- 4:58home in heaven and we don't have to worry about what God thinks
- 5:03about us because He has told us exactly what He thinks about us
- 5:06in His Word. May we have that same love and
- 5:10care and affection for each other.
- 5:13Hope that be an encouragement to you today.
- 5:15And I look forward to the very last Tabernacle tidbit episode
- 5:19for a while, and Second Timothy chapter 4 and verse #22.
