- 0:21Matthew Stafford stays in LA
- 0:23Dibo heads to the DMV Devonte Adams is on the move combine takeaways and the
- 0:30divisional rodeo
- 0:32Continues folks and we're staying in the West but this time when the AFC West okay all of this and more as
- 0:39Well as some breaking news that just broke maybe about maybe five or ten minutes ago
- 0:43And that is James Bradbury getting released by the Eagles
- 0:47Okay, all of this and more on the 72nd episode of the football junkies podcast. Okay. I am your host with the most
- 0:54Okay, I'm your chief bad girl. Domus. Okay. I'm your chief head of the table
- 0:59Anything and everything related to the bag mock drafts combine takeaways all those things and moral. Okay. I am your GM
- 1:06Who currently is not on the team right now, but don't you worry about it? Okay?
- 1:11Don't you worry about because guess what I am all these things and moral okay?
- 1:16But guess what the most important thing that you must remember is I am your host Kale
- 1:20You already know how these things are about to go you already know what I'm about to say
- 1:24So guess what you're prepared. I'm a pair. So let's do this thing on three one two three. Let's lock in. Oh
- 1:47All right folks, let's just get into the meat and potatoes of everything that is going on in the league right now and
- 1:54Man, oh man, is it a lot going on right now? Okay, so let's start off with these bagglers before we get into everything
- 2:02Okay, so Larry Jackson tackle for the Rams. Okay gets paid. All right three years
- 2:0857 million 35 million guaranteed which is around 19 million a year. Okay, so all in all really good signing
- 2:17He was definitely probably maybe top five when it comes to tackles that were free agents this year
- 2:23So for the Rams to you know lock him up
- 2:25That's one less tackle that you know, everybody can try to you know convince to to sign with their team and whatnot
- 2:31So all in all pretty good signing doesn't really break the bank. He has been playing really well
- 2:36I honestly speaking here. I think what doesn't get talked about as much as the Rams have really built a really good offensive line
- 2:44I could make a case their offensive line is probably maybe top ten my book
- 2:49But I could be wrong here now Isaiah McDuffie is a little bit more interesting
- 2:53Okay, because I had to do a little bit of digging just to like really understand his role on the Packers
- 2:59But we're gonna get into that in just a second
- 3:01So his deal is basically two years eight million, but it can go up to nine point five million. Okay
- 3:09So when we look at his stats, it's only 94 tackles and in a quarterback pressure
- 3:14This is not a monumental
- 3:17Earth shattering record setting type of deal
- 3:20This is somebody who plays a very solid role on the Packers defense that you know is a contributor
- 3:27And when you look at you know his footage they put him everywhere on the defense. I've seen him line up at edge
- 3:34I've seen him be the middle linebacker. He's everywhere. I will say this one of the things that did catch my eyes
- 3:41He's a really good blitzer. Okay, and he has a relentless motor
- 3:45He was going after the quarterback
- 3:47Multiple times and sometimes they even used him as a quarterback spy as well. So all in all, it's a really good deal
- 3:53It's a really good deal. It's nothing that is gonna have the Packers scratching the head like oh, what are we gonna do like?
- 4:00No, it's a really good deal and on top of that linebacker is really don't go for a whole lot of money anyway, so
- 4:06It's fine. Now. Let's get into
- 4:10T Higgins, okay
- 4:11So T Higgins got tagged again and so for people who don't know the franchise tag is basically a one-year deal
- 4:18Right and so a lot of times teams put the franchise tag on somebody that they don't want to hit free agency
- 4:26Okay, they want to try to see if they can work out of them most of the times. It's a placeholder
- 4:31It's very rare to see a player to play on the franchise tag because a lot of players don't like playing on the franchise tag
- 4:38Because of the risk that comes with it, which is if you get hurt God forbid
- 4:44Guess what happens? You don't have a safety net. You don't have a blankie. You don't have anything that you can rely on because why?
- 4:50It's a one-year thing for T Higgins situation. There's the same time that he's been tagged
- 4:54So the value for this tag is only 26.2 million, which you know, isn't a whole lot of money
- 4:59But they're trying to work out a deal right now. My only concern is what is his number?
- 5:06Because we all know that Jamar Chase should be the number one priority
- 5:10We all know that Jamar Chase is going to reset the market. He is going to have the most richest contract in NFL history
- 5:19Then it's T Higgins and then you put in Trey Hendrickson, but the problem is
- 5:24How are you going to be able to pay all three of these players?
- 5:28Because all three of these players have really good seasons. Trey Hendrickson was a finalist for a defensive player of the year
- 5:34So you're gonna have to find a way to be able to pay all these players
- 5:38Now do I think they'll let T Higgins walk? There's a possibility and there's also a possibility where they can just tag and just trade him
- 5:46Because at this point I
- 5:49Did this is my personal opinion. I don't see a reality where you can reset the market for a Jamar Chase
- 5:57Pay T Higgins, maybe 28 to maybe 30 million and then pay Trey Hendrickson
- 6:02I don't know 30 35 million. I just don't see it now
- 6:07I could be wrong, but the Bengals are one of those organizations that are very cheap
- 6:12They are very cheap with their spending and if I'm not mistaken
- 6:16There was a story that came out not too long ago that they had to sell their naming rights in
- 6:23Order for them to pay Joe Burrow
- 6:26If you have to sell your naming rights to pay Joe Burrow, that's a problem
- 6:31We have a major financial issue, but the Bengals have always had a reputation of being a very cheap team
- 6:37I don't understand why but this is exactly what they do. Okay now that we've gotten all the baggler. It's out of the way
- 6:43Let's get into this Darius lay stuff. So Darius lay Super Bowl champion
- 6:47You can say that now has been released by the Eagles, which honestly, this was somewhat expected
- 6:54I didn't expect for for them to keep him for another season. I think it benefits both parties that way Darius lay
- 7:01He can go to another team maybe get one more big payday or whatever and for the Eagles they can prioritize, you know corner
- 7:09Moving forward. Okay. So with this move the Eagles will designate this as a post-June first release
- 7:15Okay, so Philly will carry his 13.7 78 million dollar cap into June and then take dead cap hits of
- 7:239.4 million which they save 4.3 million in cap space and then next year they take on 13.29 million
- 7:30Okay, now when we look at this Darius lay had one year 16 million left on his deal and included a
- 7:3814.6 option bonus
- 7:40Had the Eagles exercise this bonus that would have meant 25 million a
- 7:45Voidable dead cap for Philly to deal with next year and it's the same thing with James Bradbury
- 7:51They were going to release him
- 7:53He really didn't play as much but he contributed a lot off the field when it came to mentoring the young corners and whatnot
- 8:00So all in all very much expected. They want to stay young. They want to bring in some new people and let's be real here
- 8:08Which will probably get into once we get to that part the quarterback class low key
- 8:16They got some hitters
- 8:17They got some hitters. I'm just saying they got some hitters now. Let's get into
- 8:24Let's see. What else do we have to talk about Matthew Stafford? So
- 8:27This is a little bit of a weird situation. Okay, because
- 8:31This went one way where okay the Rams are gonna let Matthew Stafford talked of the teams
- 8:38You know see what what his value is then come back to the Rams and then all of a sudden you find out that Matthew Stafford is staying in LA
- 8:46So on one hand, I understand why the Rams had a change of heart
- 8:51But at the same time if that was the case, why do we get to this point? Because we all know
- 8:58That the Rams were not going to get rid of Matthew Stafford. We know that if Matthew Stafford leaves the Rams
- 9:05There's a lot of question marks and it also doesn't help that this is not a really good quarterback draft class
- 9:11You're not in a position where you could go and get a cam ward or a Shaddour Sanders outside of those two
- 9:17It's a reach for Jackson D'Art. It's a reach for Quinn Ewers. It's a reach for car not Carson back
- 9:23And it's a reach for for Jaylen Milrow
- 9:26So all in all you had to stay with him and you're not about to pay
- 9:3035 close to 40 million for Sam Darno
- 9:33Do you really want to go after Aaron Rodgers? No
- 9:36Do you really want to go after Justin Fields? That's a possibility
- 9:39But outside of them, there's nobody else that you can really say that can take this team to the next level
- 9:45Except for who Matthew Stafford?
- 9:48So all in all this is really good, but the problem is
- 9:53The numbers won't be released. I think for another week or two
- 9:57So we really won't know the structure of this deal
- 10:01But the way that the tea leaves are talking because tea leaves are definitely talking
- 10:06It sounds like to me like this is a restructured deal where it's basically a year-to-year type of contract
- 10:13Because again Matthew Stafford is getting up in age
- 10:16We all know that at some point he's gonna want to retire. We all know that but the thing is
- 10:23We all know that every single offseason that they don't win a Super Bowl
- 10:28There's going to be a level of uncertainty with Matthew Stafford
- 10:32He's already done everything that they're needed to be done. You won a Super Bowl
- 10:37You've been very successful with the Rams. You had a resurgence in your career
- 10:42Since being with the Rams all in all you've done well
- 10:46You've accumulated a boatload of money. Your kids don't have to work another day in their life
- 10:53If they really wanted to all in all someone expected
- 10:58Not really surprised don't really care anymore because it just doesn't make any sense
- 11:04Because you had teams like the Raiders and Giants willing
- 11:08To pay a boatload of money for Matthew Stafford because why they're desperate for quarterback a productive quarterback
- 11:16And they were willing to write the checkbooks, but the Rams say you know what let's bring it back
- 11:20Let's bring back
- 11:23Let's talk things over. Let's let's have a conversation. Come on
- 11:26It's the same thing with Cooper come because apparently there are reports that coming out that are saying
- 11:32That the Rams are having a change of heart with Cooper come as well if I if I put two into it together
- 11:38What says doesn't make that you continue to let these players just
- 11:42entertain other teams and see what their market is and then come to find out you want to have a change of heart and say hey
- 11:49Come on back home
- 11:50But I think that comeback home moment came when you had Shawn McVeigh go public and say that he wants Matthew Stafford back
- 11:58Because let's really think about this here folks
- 12:00The Rams became Super Bowl champions
- 12:03Once they got Matthew Stafford, it's only right that you continue to roll with him and see how far you can get
- 12:12May I remind you that the Rams were literally one step away from potentially going back to the Super Bowl?
- 12:19Think about that for a second and mind you that was a season where in the first half
- 12:25There was a lot of uncertainty with this team because they weren't winning a whole lot of games
- 12:30And they were getting crushed and then players were getting injured and
- 12:35then for them to have
- 12:37This change in the second half of the season and then you're going up against the Eagles during the snowstorm like man
- 12:44You got to keep that guy same thing with Cooper cup
- 12:47There's no need for you to let these guys walk. You have to keep the core now granted
- 12:52I
- 12:53Understand that you know their contracts may be a little bit crazy and whatnot, but you can rework a contract
- 12:59It's very easy, but what you cannot do is allow these type of players to walk
- 13:06Because you're talking about players that if you let them walk
- 13:10You can never get them back
- 13:12Especially at this point in their career. So I say all that to say this be loyal to the players that have been loyal to you
- 13:19Now with this James Bradbury situation, okay?
- 13:22The Eagles had already prepared for Bradbury to be moved and whatnot
- 13:27But basically what happens is this allows the Eagles to carry his five point two million dollar cap hit into June, okay?
- 13:35Then they'll take on the dead cap hits of three point one this year and then seven point seven next year, okay?
- 13:43so all in all very much expected not really surprised
- 13:49Allow them to go somewhere else and you know be a starter or get a bag or whatever the case may be
- 13:56but we also have some more breaking news folks and that is
- 14:00Former Packers and current Jets receiver Alan Lazard has been given permission by the Jets to seek a trade
- 14:09But the Jets are also open to bringing him back as well according to Adam Schefters. So as
- 14:18Expected as expected as expected
- 14:21They are looking to blow this thing up as far as all of the additions that they made for Aaron Rodgers
- 14:28Which we're gonna get into the the Devontae Adams thing shortly
- 14:32But when we look at it from a financial standpoint for Alan Lazard, okay?
- 14:38He doesn't have any guaranteed money
- 14:40Even though yes, he still has two years left on his deal, which is around 11 million
- 14:46Both of those years are not guaranteed. I would say if you're looking for a receiver, you can get someone like Alan Lazard
- 14:51I'm not saying he's not super productive or anything. He is a playmaker, but I mean, let's be real here
- 14:58The Jets want to go in a different direction
- 15:00They want to be able to clean out all of the clutter, you know
- 15:05Aaron Rodgers and Devontae Adams and Alan Lazard and all of that stuff
- 15:10They want to get that out of the room as quickly as possible and I do not blame them
- 15:14Okay. Now when we look at Devontae Adams situation, okay? Devontae Adams is on the move
- 15:21Originally it was reported that they were going to allow him to seek a trade
- 15:26But now it sounds like they're probably going to cut him and when we look at his financials
- 15:32His finances are really not that good
- 15:34His base salary this year
- 15:3735.6 million
- 15:39For both this year and next year. All right when we look at his cap hits his cap hits alone
- 15:46Are almost 40 million? They are exactly
- 15:5138.3 million for both this year and next year
- 15:54I'm sorry folks, but I'm not making a trade for someone like a Devontae Adams
- 15:59Not with these crazy cap hits and not with this crazy base salary and granted
- 16:04I understand he's still a really productive receiver. I get that he is still one of the best receivers in the league
- 16:10I get all of that and more but why I am not going to do is
- 16:15give up a
- 16:16High draft pick to get someone like a Devontae Adams and I'm having to take on this big salary at some point
- 16:23There's going to be a restructure
- 16:26Someone is going to restructure this deal. He is not going to be able to play with this current contract
- 16:33They're going to shred it
- 16:35Now my first question is where does he want to go?
- 16:38Because there's reports saying that he wants playing the West Coast
- 16:41There's there's reports saying that he wants to play with Aaron Rodgers again like
- 16:46There's a lot of confusion with this entire situation if I'm a team
- 16:50I'm just gonna I'm just gonna let the Jets cut them
- 16:53I'm not trading for him. I'm not giving up any of my draft picks to get Devontae Adams
- 16:59I don't care if he has publicly said I want to play for this team
- 17:03Well, then guess what get cut and then we can sign you because we're not giving you this type of deal
- 17:08Now me personally, I would say maybe the 49ers will be interested
- 17:13Maybe the bills
- 17:15Maybe question mark. I don't know for all the other players
- 17:19They'll probably you know list out. Okay. I want to go here. I want to go there
- 17:23I want to go here. I want to go there
- 17:25But Devontae Adams he could tell you one thing and then post something and that's thing
- 17:30You know, you're super confused like wait a minute. Didn't you just say you wanted to go here?
- 17:34So then if you want to go there then why you're over here, bro
- 17:37You were the same person that posted a picture of Edgar Allen Poe
- 17:41The one person that everybody knows is connected to Baltimore and then out of the blue you decided to go to the Jets
- 17:48I can't take this guy serious, but onto other things. Okay Deebo Samuel former. Okay, we can say that now
- 17:56Former 49ers receiver has been traded to the Washington commanders folks
- 18:02Yes, so 49ers get a fifth round pick and the commanders of course get Deebo Samuel
- 18:07So originally Jonathan Allen was a part of the deal, but then they took him out of the deal now according to
- 18:13Athletic insider Diane Rossini she reported that the preference for Deebo Samuel was out of the commanders Texans or Broncos
- 18:22So for all the Steelers fans that was saying oh my god, he said that he wanted to come to Pittsburgh
- 18:27Oh my god, he didn't want to but on a serious note. This was expected. I mean, let's be real here
- 18:34The time for Deebo Samuel was officially over after this season. You're getting into it with the kicker
- 18:40You're getting into it with the punter like you're a little bit overweight like bro
- 18:45You letting yourself go just a little bit. It's time for you to go in a different direction
- 18:49And so the far the 49ers said okay, we'll grant you where you want to go and they did it
- 18:55And so you're reuniting with somebody that has familiarity with you and Adam Peters
- 19:00It was a really good situation not to mention
- 19:02You don't have to be a one and you don't have to be a two in this system at best
- 19:08You could be the third or fourth best receiver on this team, which is still fairly good
- 19:13I think getting Deebo Samuel will unlock a certain part of this offense that they were trying to unlock last year
- 19:21All you have to do now is either bring back either Diamond Brown or Noah Brown if you bring back one of those two guess what?
- 19:30You're good
- 19:31You're good
- 19:32You have nothing else to worry about and for all the people that say well
- 19:36That's a lot of money that to take on they're gonna restructure it
- 19:39Do you really think they're gonna let Dibo play on 17.5 million? No, they're not they're going to restructure that deal fairly quickly
- 19:45Now the question is this what is the ceiling for Dibo Samuel at this point?
- 19:51Is it basically having the same stats that he had in 21 or is it at least having you know a thousand yard?
- 19:58receiving season, you know six touchdowns and you know, whatever other metric that you want to throw like what is the ceiling at this point for
- 20:07Dibo Samuel because I think a lot of people were questioning
- 20:11Does Dibo still have it in the tank?
- 20:14because we saw
- 20:17Just how he wasn't the same Dibo this year
- 20:21He just wasn't that same powerful
- 20:24Yack player that he was a few years ago like a few years ago Dibo Samuel. Oh, we're having a different conversation
- 20:31We're talking about somebody that you're gonna have to give up a first round pick
- 20:34Maybe two first round picks just to get something like a Dibo Samuel
- 20:37But you can tell that it had reached a point with the 49ers that you know what I think it's just best we go our separate ways
- 20:46because you can tell just
- 20:48Looking at the entire body language of that offense that you know change was needed and it probably sucks for the 49ers
- 20:57But you know, sometimes you got to let people go and that's perfectly fine
- 21:00But all in all really good move for Washington and for everybody else. Guess what you just got put on notice
- 21:08Everyone else has now been informed that guess what you have to follow up with this
- 21:14You now have to try to outdo what Washington this did. They just fired the first shot for free agency
- 21:21They didn't even wait until the new league here folks. They let it be known. Hey, listen. We're about winning over here. So who's next?
- 21:28Who's next? I'm just waiting my phone is where's my phone at?
- 21:31What's my phone my phone's right here? Okay, you probably can't see it
- 21:34There's only if you to see it, but my phone is right here in my hand. I'm just waiting for somebody else to make another trade
- 21:40But let's get into the combine
- 21:42So combine was you know this weekend and
- 21:46Really really really good really interesting from every single position. I think there are a lot of people whose draft stock
- 21:53Definitely rose. There are some people who their draft stock may have took a little bit of a hit
- 21:59But I think there's something that needs to be talked about
- 22:02That it's been bothering me for a little bit
- 22:05and
- 22:05That is the participation
- 22:07For head coaches when it comes to the combine I feel like and this is just my personal opinion
- 22:13I feel like if you are a head coach for any of the 32 teams, you need to be at the combine
- 22:20I'm not saying you have to stay there for the entire time
- 22:23I'm not saying that you have to be putting on a smile and doing all of this
- 22:28I'm not saying that but what you need to do is you have to be a part of the process because this is a very important process
- 22:35Because this is where relationships start with these players
- 22:40Even if you don't get the player in the draft they may consider
- 22:44Wanting to play for you just because of a simple conversation that y'all had or just having a formal or informal
- 22:51Meeting with it. We've seen in multiple times how players talk very high about certain coaches and whatnot and guess what?
- 22:59Guess we're all started from the combine
- 23:01That's where it started from for all the people that say well, I don't own really value the combine like that
- 23:07I just don't see it like that. You're like, okay?
- 23:11Because the combine is where you can find hidden gems the combine is where you can find your next big
- 23:18Playmaker, but you won't know anything about that if you're not there
- 23:23That's why I sort of have someone of a beef with both Sean McVeigh and Kyle Shanahan
- 23:28What makes you guys bigger than everybody else?
- 23:32They'll bella check did it and be read is still doing it
- 23:35So what gives you the right to not want to do the combine? I don't care how much research you've done
- 23:41I don't care what your scouts have saying
- 23:44Going to the combine allows you to see exactly where they are at this point because let's not forget folks
- 23:52The draft is next month
- 23:54So you have a lot of figuring out that you have to do from now until the day of the draft
- 24:00And the only way that you can do that is if you bring them in a room you talk to them pick them apart
- 24:07Figure out exactly where their mentors are where they are when it comes to the love of the game
- 24:12So that you can make a decision because you don't want to be one of these teams where you make a move just to make them
- 24:19And then guess what?
- 24:20Now two years later you want to get rid of them then you're leaking out
- 24:24Reports basically saying oh well he comes up super late for for training or he practices out of shape and all this other stuff
- 24:32That's very damning to their reputation in the league
- 24:35Same thing with Kyle Shanahan
- 24:37You want to know one of the reasons why your team hasn't been able to go back to the Super Bowl is because you really haven't been hitting on your draft picks
- 24:45Instead of you wanting to not be involved with the combine
- 24:48Maybe you should go for maybe one or two days. Maybe that'll help you put you in a better place than where you are right now
- 24:56May I remind you this is the same person that that turned up three first-round picks just to get trained Lance and then you didn't even
- 25:01Keep them for a whole five years
- 25:04Like come on, bro
- 25:06It's the same thing with every single person that's not there
- 25:08You need to be involved with this process and even with some of the players if you are not going to be
- 25:16participating in the combine then you need to decline your invitation and
- 25:20Allow that for somebody else for instance Shiloh
- 25:24Sanders Shiloh should have been at the combine. He shouldn't have to go and get somebody to clock his 40 and everything else
- 25:33He should not have to do that. He should have been able to go to the combine and go through the entire process
- 25:39You know how your body feels every single day if you wake up in the morning you say hey my back is a little bit tense
- 25:46Hey, my knees are no. Oh, I can't really put a lot of a lot of pressure on my left foot
- 25:51Oh, man, my ankle swole is a little bit. Maybe I should go and get that scene. Maybe did I mess that up yesterday?
- 25:59You have to figure out those type of decisions prior to the combine
- 26:04Because that can allow somebody who is low on on people's boards who are low on people's draft stock. They can rise
- 26:12We've seen it year after year where we have players who are no names
- 26:18Who become household names just from doing the combine alone?
- 26:23We have seen people who were slated to be fifth and sixth round picks who climb all the way up to third and second round picks
- 26:30But you just saying oh, yeah, I'm gonna be there and then you're not doing anything at all. Come on
- 26:35You have if you can do at least just one drill if you could do at least one drill. I
- 26:43Think that would do a lot for you
- 26:46Me personally I wanted to see should or throw if all you did was just throw and then you just shut it down
- 26:54I'm not complaining
- 26:56Same thing with cam ward if you just threw hey, that's it. That's fine
- 27:02I got no problem with that because guess what both of y'all are gonna be first round picks both y'all are first round pick locks
- 27:10You guys are not going to be drafted outside of the first round same thing we're asking Gentie
- 27:16If you know that your place is locked for the first round
- 27:21Okay, maybe you can take things off a little bit if you wanted to
- 27:25But for everybody else no
- 27:28You have to be able to participate in the combine
- 27:31That is the only way that people know exactly who you are
- 27:36Because they need to know who the person is outside of the jersey number and the helmet and the play that you made in these
- 27:43all-22 films
- 27:45Now off of my soapbox. Okay, because I'm tired of doing it very solid
- 27:50Sure, you had some people that you know ran some some you know pretty crazy 40 times. I'm not gonna lie
- 27:56They definitely did, you know, you have boss y'all to and who ran a 4-3 you had Jaden blue and a 4-3 you had
- 28:02Bershark Smith who ran a 4-3 as well all in all
- 28:06For a majority of these running backs a lot of them ran around the same time which is around 4-4 4-4 5
- 28:13It's actually really good. That's solid. That's average. Okay, then you had you know
- 28:17Like like the people that just said who ran a 4-3 and whatnot. It's really good
- 28:22But again, you are looking at a running back class. I don't see the class
- 28:27We haven't got to that point yet a running back class that is really solid that has options
- 28:33Okay, you got your speedsters. You got your bruisers. You got your Swiss army knives
- 28:40You have it all with this running back class
- 28:42This running back class will probably be the reason why a lot of free agent running backs won't be able to garner as much money
- 28:49And free agency because why teams will be more willing to go and draft a running back than pay a running back
- 28:57Like I can name Caleb Johnson Devin Neil Taj Brooks
- 29:02Bosch all to and I can't even think of his name the running back from Delaware Damian Martinez
- 29:08Of course, what's his name? Ashton Gentie, of course, everyone knows that name
- 29:12But there are so many running backs in this draft. I can guarantee you there's gonna be at least maybe 10 running backs
- 29:2010 plus running backs. Excuse me. That will definitely be drafted
- 29:24You will be able to find a quality running back in the fifth six and seventh round. I guarantee it
- 29:31Not all of them are gonna be drafted high
- 29:33But some of them will Ashton Gentie for sure. Oh, Mariah Hampton. There's a possibility for him
- 29:41Same thing for Travelyon Henderson and maybe even Quincyon Jenkins. Like I feel like there's maybe
- 29:47At least four to five running backs that could sneak into the first round now granny
- 29:51We all know the the Cardinal rule the Cardinals sinning. Oh, you don't draft a running back in the first round
- 29:58Bull crap. There's someone that you like you go and you get that person the person that we do have to talk about
- 30:04Okay, cuz I'm a skip. I'm gonna be everywhere
- 30:07But when it comes to the combine the person that we do have to talk about is Nick. I'm in worry from South Carolina folks
- 30:13This guy is a monster. This guy is going to be a beast
- 30:1863
- 30:20220 some pounds and he ran
- 30:24phenomenal
- 30:25You want to talk about a weapon? That's a weapon
- 30:29Okay, you put him with the right defense you put him with the right situation
- 30:35You are talking about someone who could potentially be an all-pro
- 30:40He is a bigger
- 30:43stronger and faster version of Dermot James
- 30:46Just saying you know if you're if you're looking for safety, you know, you can go get him, you know
- 30:54I'm just saying just saying just saying
- 30:58defensive line class
- 31:00Very solid as well. Sure. There was a few people that may not have had the best
- 31:06I mean Shamar Stewart, we all know, you know, he definitely had a really good a really good combine
- 31:12But there's a lot of people I'm gonna have to review. There's a lot of people I'm gonna have to look at again
- 31:17Just because you know
- 31:19The combine definitely shows you a lot
- 31:21And so sometimes you may have to look back and look at their all 22 just to see like hey
- 31:27Was that being shown in this game? Was that being shown in that game like?
- 31:32What was I missing something when it came to this player like the combine definitely shows you a lot and so
- 31:38Defensive line definitely believe there's gonna be a lot of people that are gonna be drafted high in the meet in the middle parts of the draft
- 31:45I definitely believe, you know, Derek Harmon his draft stock rolls up. I think
- 31:52Shamar Stewart for sure T.J. Sanders
- 31:56It's in the middle. I'm gonna have to review his stuff
- 31:58But all in all defensive line class very still very confident with them who else receiver class
- 32:04It's a work in progress and the reason why I say that is because
- 32:09Sure, you have you know T Mac you have Luther Burton you have this person you have that person but
- 32:15this receiver class and
- 32:18I've said this before in recent episodes the day two and day three class. I think has a lot of potential
- 32:26Sure, you know, it's not like the receiver classes that we've had in recent years where you have five and six
- 32:32You know first round grades on receivers, but I think you have some receivers that if you put them in the right situation
- 32:39They can thrive saving on Williams. He can thrive Jaden Higgins
- 32:45dog
- 32:47Absolute dog of a blocker. Okay, Matthew Golden. He wowed everybody. I say a bond you lied
- 32:55Okay, you lied to everybody. You lied to me. Okay, because you were telling everybody. Oh, yeah, I'm about to shock the world
- 33:01I'm about to run a fort to da da da
- 33:05You didn't really do that brother. You didn't really do that now Matthew Golden. He didn't say anything. He ran a fort to
- 33:12Just saying
- 33:14I believe that be but
- 33:16Back to the receivers though. The receiver class is really solid
- 33:20It's not a receiver class where you have this superstar and that superstar this superstar that superstar. No
- 33:28But you have very solid
- 33:30Contributing receivers in this class and I wouldn't even be surprised if there are some receivers that convert into tight ends I
- 33:39Think as long as you are able to be consistent when it comes to catching the ball and as long as you are a really productive blocker
- 33:47I think you could transition into being a tight end
- 33:50I think there are some receivers who are big enough and strong enough to where they could play the tide the tight end position
- 33:58And they won't lose a pep in their step. I think you know, I think Matthew Golden's draft stock definitely rolls. I
- 34:06Think who else who else who else who else Eleg?
- 34:10Emin your I know I'm pronouncing his name. Well, I know I am my bad, bro
- 34:15The receiver from Stanford his his draft stock definitely rose
- 34:20Jadon Higgins, like I just said his draft stock rolls. I think Colorado's receivers as well
- 34:25I feel like there's a lot of potential with them for sure
- 34:30But everybody else there's there's optimism
- 34:34There's definitely a lot of optimism because originally I was definitely on the fence like
- 34:40Is this a down year? Is this a is this a weird year for receiver? What exactly is it? But
- 34:47Looking at this combine, there's a lot of potential. I think some of these guys will be some really good special team aces
- 34:54I think you're looking at some receivers that can be really good Swiss Army knives. I
- 34:59Just look at the endless creativity that you could use with each and every one of these receivers
- 35:05I don't think there is a receiver in this combine group in this draft class
- 35:11Specifically that is like a complete bus
- 35:14I think there are some receivers that will do phenomenal things if you put them with a Kyle Shanahan or
- 35:21Shaw McVeigh or somebody who is very creative with their play calling and execution and whatnot
- 35:26So only time will tell but tight end class
- 35:30solid as well. I
- 35:32Think Mason Taylor. I feel like his draft stock definitely rolls
- 35:35You're looking at somebody that is a really good pass catcher as well as a good blocker as well
- 35:40I feel like the tight end class will definitely be valued and maybe the
- 35:46Second half of the first early part of the second round. I think when you look at people like Harold Fandon, Jr
- 35:53Mason Taylor like I just said Colson leveling Tyler Warren
- 35:56I feel like those are going to be like the main ones that everyone's gonna want to go after
- 36:00I feel like the tight end from Miami as well
- 36:04He's definitely somebody that you can't sleep on like the tight end class this year. Believe or not has a lot of potential
- 36:09I feel like if you are a team that is looking for either a tight end two or a tight end one
- 36:15This is the year to get it
- 36:17I feel like Tyler Warren and Colson Lovin are a tight end one and tight end two for everybody
- 36:22But then outside of that, I mean you can you know make your debates for for anybody honestly corner
- 36:29Corner is really solid
- 36:31Like I know I'm saying solid a lot, but that's all you can really say like you can't say oh my god
- 36:37This class was just absolutely perfect. It was phenomenal. We can't really say that but you what you can say is it's solid
- 36:44Cornerback has potential and the reason why I say that is because
- 36:49You have multiple corners who are running for threes multiple big body corners, okay?
- 36:55We're starting to see now a lot of these corners are bigger
- 37:01You're starting to see these six one six two six three even six four corners, which are great
- 37:07Okay, Maxwell Harrison he ran a four two Darian Porter four three Caleb of
- 37:14Rent a ransom for three Jig a Paris for three a Zahrazer for three Jadae Baron for three like
- 37:22These are some really fast really big productive
- 37:26Corners, okay Jadae Baron that is a playmaker. That is somebody that is going to be a problem for receivers
- 37:35I see it. I don't know what it is, but I see it Maxwell Harrison his draft stock definitely rose because prior to the combine
- 37:44There were a lot of people that were saying that he was maybe a second maybe third round pick
- 37:48He's probably a late first round pick at this point. I can make a strong case Darian Porter
- 37:54almost six four
- 37:56And he ran that fast
- 38:00Problem okay big
- 38:02Problem now when we look at you know offensive line class
- 38:07I'm gonna have to look at some of these offensive linemen only because
- 38:11There was maybe about five to ten offensive linemen that were pulled to the side to practice at center
- 38:17Some of them were able to do it successfully others not so much Tyler Booker. We all know he's a household name
- 38:24Gray's able I love greats able. I don't know what it is about his game, but his game is phenomenal
- 38:30Okay, you're talking about somebody that has positional flexibility who can play both tackle and guard
- 38:36I feel like if you put him as an interior offensive linemen, he would be the most successful, but I could be wrong
- 38:43What else what else what else tackles?
- 38:46tackle class I
- 38:49Can't hang my hat on with with with the tackle class
- 38:52I think tackle has a lot of upside with them Calvin Banks. We already know he's gonna be a first-rounder
- 38:58Will Campbell he's gonna be first-round
- 39:01There's gonna be a lot of first-round tackles this year
- 39:03And I think each and every one of them have a lot of upside to their game
- 39:08The only class that I am not confident in is quarterback
- 39:12Quarterback to me is still a question mark when we look at you know Quinn you were is in Jackson D'Art in
- 39:18any of those other quarterbacks
- 39:20There is nothing that they did in the combine that makes me say I want to run to the podium and give you guys a chance
- 39:27I feel like Quinn you were is definitely should have stayed another year in college. I
- 39:32Just don't see it with him. I don't know what it is, but I just don't see it with his game
- 39:39Now granted we all know that he couldn't stay another year in Texas because Archie was
- 39:44Going to you know be the starter one now, but like bro, you could have went somewhere else
- 39:48I think if he would have stayed one more year that way
- 39:51He can build up his drafts talk while at the same time really showcasing his skill set
- 39:55Because I think he has potential, but I think he just came out way too early Jalen Milrow
- 40:03athletically
- 40:04Monster when it comes to the past game not so confident if you can't throw
- 40:09Consistently with your with the medium and short game. What are we doing here?
- 40:14I think if it was the other way around if his deep ball was a little bit questionable, but his
- 40:21Mid to short passing game was silent. I think people will look at him a little bit higher
- 40:28But because it's the other way around I think people look at him with a little bit of
- 40:34We've seen this before it's a little bit of a project
- 40:37It's a little bit of a work in progress
- 40:39But do we have the facilities to work and to groom and to help him be the best version that he can be like
- 40:47Jalen Milrow, I think if you put him with Kevin O'Connell or Sean McVeigh or Kyle Shanahan
- 40:54I think he would do great if you put him on a defensive coach. He is not going to thrive
- 40:59You are going to look at somebody that is going to be on his way out in
- 41:03Three to five years defensive coaches do not have that eye for detail when it comes to the quarterbacks. We all know that but it's like
- 41:11They they just don't treat quarterbacks the same way that offensive
- 41:15You know head coaches do but that's another story for another day, but let us get into
- 41:22the
- 41:23divisional
- 41:25Roadio folks. So we're in the AFC West. Okay, we're in a very barren land. Okay, we're in the the deep west
- 41:33Okay, we were just on the West Coast, but we're going through the West
- 41:35We're going through, you know the mountains and everything so
- 41:39We all know the AFC West composes of the Broncos Raiders Chargers and Chiefs. Okay, we already know how this thing goes
- 41:46So we're breaking down salary free agents draft picks positions of need and candidates for either restructure extension trades or cuts
- 41:54Okay, so let's get into the Broncos. All right
- 41:58Sour cap 41.5 million roll over cap of 1.9 million not too bad. Okay free agents DJ Jones
- 42:05Zach Wilson Cody Barton Javante Williams Zach Cunningham Jared Stenham
- 42:10Tramon Smith and Riley Dixon. Now when we look at their draft picks, okay
- 42:14They got their first their second their third their fourth and they have three sixth round picks
- 42:19Okay positions of need defensive line tied in running back receiver and interior
- 42:25Linebacker, I think I said that wrong, but it's fine. You know what I mean?
- 42:29So when we look at this, you know, the Broncos are in a really good space. Okay, you have a really young team
- 42:35That proved the doubters and haters and they say you're wrong last season. Okay, including me
- 42:40I was definitely under the impression that this team was going to struggle and they were not going to do the best
- 42:47but for them to you know fight tooth and nail all the way to the end of the season
- 42:53Hey, man, they got some grit. They got some grit and grime with them and I like it
- 42:58even with their positions of need their positions of need
- 43:01aren't as
- 43:02Bad as what people think it is like sure you still have a lot of you know, building that you have to do
- 43:08But you have the foundational pieces
- 43:12You needed to know if bow nicks is the guy or not in this season showed it
- 43:17Sure, you still have to make some additions to your receiving core and you know running back on these other things
- 43:23But those are things that you can address day two and day three. Okay, so defensive line
- 43:28We all know defensive line class is really diverse and you can get a really productive defensive linemen in both the first second
- 43:38third fourth and so on
- 43:40But the question is what do you prioritize more me personally? This is just my personal opinion
- 43:47I can be wrong. I feel like the two positions that you should address
- 43:51Well, actually three three positions that you should address in the first round is either inside linebacker
- 43:57For jihakamble or tight end which is you know, either Tyler Warren or Colston Loveland, right?
- 44:04Defensive line you could get a Walter Nolan. You can get
- 44:08Ken of Grant or Dion Walker or Derek Harmon just to name a few
- 44:14Okay, because the defense isn't that far off the defense was actually really productive same thing with offense
- 44:21You just have to continue to bring in
- 44:23Consistent playmakers. That's it. If you do that, you will be able to give the chiefs and everyone else a run for their money
- 44:33Now when we look at running back, you can address that and maybe the third or fourth round
- 44:38You could go you can get someone like a
- 44:41who
- 44:42Devin Neil or Taj Brooks or
- 44:46Quenchon Jenkins or Trevion Henderson or any of those running backs
- 44:51Or you can get somebody that not a lot of people know about and they'll still be super productive
- 44:57Now wide receiver is a little bit tricky. Okay, because sure
- 45:03You could address in the first round, but you probably won't be able to because you have the 20th pick
- 45:08Okay, unless T Mac or any of those guys are gonna fall for whatever reason
- 45:13You won't be able to get those guys
- 45:15So most likely you are probably gonna have to rely on the day two and day three slots for receiver
- 45:21So with that, you know, you can get a Savion Williams
- 45:24You can go and get Jaden Higgins. You can get the receiver from Stanford or
- 45:29Who else who else who else Isaiah Bond or Ty Felton, right? You have options there
- 45:34You have some, you know, bigger body receivers that can, you know, burn you but at the same time
- 45:41Can also get that 50-50 ball
- 45:44Which you really need outside of
- 45:46A Portland Sutton. Okay. Now when we look at, you know, candidates for
- 45:51restructures, extensions, trades and cuts, Portland Sutton
- 45:55Already extension. Okay. His market value is three years
- 46:0068.6 million which is 22.9 million a year
- 46:04Give him an extension. Do not let him, you know, be disgruntled. Do not let him, you know
- 46:10Try to figure out if he has a market and free agency
- 46:13Don't let him do it. Same thing was that Alan. I
- 46:17Feel like you can give him an extension three years
- 46:2166.2 million which is 22.1 million a year. That's not bad
- 46:26Alex Singleton
- 46:28You can go at this a few different ways. Okay, you can go and you can draft one high or
- 46:35You can go and you can keep someone like Alex Singleton
- 46:39That's a decision that you have to make now
- 46:41Sure, Jihar Campbell to me is linebacker one, but I don't think Jihar Campbell is gonna fall that far
- 46:50And if he is it's because of you know, a major red flag that just appears out of nowhere
- 46:55Now
- 46:57No linebackers do not get paid as much as everybody else does. Okay for obvious reasons
- 47:03But you can get a really productive middle linebacker in the later parts of the draft or
- 47:09Or or just saying just throwing this out there. What if you go and you make a trade for demario Davis?
- 47:18Think about it
- 47:20Think about it the Sean Payton connection. Think about it Broncos Nation. What you think about that?
- 47:28Now when we look at John Franklin Myers
- 47:32You could give him a deal do you really want to?
- 47:36Do you
- 47:38That's up for you to decide. I mean you can't just let everybody just walk
- 47:42You're gonna have to bring in, you know, somebody back at some point
- 47:46But when we look at you know, John Franklin Myers
- 47:50Market value, it's only three years 25.5 million, which is only 8.5 million. That's not a whole lot of money
- 47:56Honestly, you bring in, you know, John Franklin Myers and you bring back Zach Allen and then you just draft a defensive lineman
- 48:02Boom, you're done
- 48:03Your past rushers you're really gonna have to worry about that because they show a lot of upside with with their game
- 48:08So it's not really that big of a problem like all in all the Broncos are in the best space that they have been in a very long time
- 48:16And as long as they maintain this course everything is gonna be fine
- 48:20Do not deter from the plan stick to the plan as long as you stick to the plan
- 48:26You're gonna be perfectly fine. Okay, and let's go to Raiders Nation. Okay
- 48:31So with your salary
- 48:3496.6 million. Okay, you have a rollover cap of 33.5 million. You're swimming in money
- 48:42Okay, but here is the drawback. Okay free agents Marcus Epps, Robert Spillane
- 48:48Clavian Chasen, Harrison Bryant, John Jenkins, Cody Whitehair and
- 48:52Andress Pete
- 48:54Alexander Madison, Trevon Moe Rigg, Nate Hobbes just to name a few. Okay, your draft picks
- 48:59You got your first your second you have two third round picks
- 49:03You have a fourth you have a fifth and you have three sixth round picks and you have one seventh round pick
- 49:09Okay positions of need quarterback receiver DB running back linebacker. Okay. Here is the thing with the Raiders
- 49:18Yes, you do need a quarterback
- 49:21But how much do you value this quarterback draft class? I
- 49:25Think that is the number one question that needs to be asked
- 49:29Because if you were in the market for someone like a Matthew Stafford that lets me know one or two things
- 49:35Either a you guys realize that you're not in the position to go and get either Cam Ward or Sherbrooke Sanders
- 49:41Or you realize that maybe it's best that we just get a bridge for this year and then we take the big swing next year
- 49:49It's one of those two things. All right
- 49:51Now the problem with the Raiders is sure you have all of this money
- 49:58But you have so many holes that you have to fill on both sides of the ball
- 50:03That if you bring in a veteran quarterback, you're gonna have to shower them with money
- 50:08That is the only way that they will be wanting to play for the Raiders
- 50:12It's not because of the legacy of the Raiders
- 50:14It's not because of all the promotional videos of Raiders Nation would not know it's because of money
- 50:20It's because what you're giving them. Okay? Now when we look at receiver as I've said before
- 50:25Sure, you can go and get someone like a team act sure you get someone like a Luther Burton or Matthew Golden a Mecca of
- 50:32Bucca just to name a few but do you want to get them that high? Probably not
- 50:36You can probably get somebody in the second and third round and you know, it won't be that big of a problem
- 50:42But I feel like now that you have someone like a P. Carroll in the room
- 50:48that can relate to players I feel like this is going to benefit them more because
- 50:54There could be a chance or maybe there could be some former players of P. Carroll that may want to reunite with him in Las Vegas
- 51:02Okay
- 51:03same thing with DB
- 51:06Sure, you need both corners and a safety because I don't think you're bringing back Trevor Moe Ray
- 51:11Trevor Moe Ray is gonna be worth a lot of money and I don't think you're gonna be willing to do that made hops
- 51:19You can keep him or you can let him go
- 51:21Okay
- 51:22But all in all you have to make significant moves to
- 51:27Replace all these players that you're losing in the DB room and granted. This is a really good
- 51:34You know corner and safety class. I mean sure you got Malachi starts you have Xavier Watts. You have Nick
- 51:40Um, what's his name? I'm in worry from South Carolina. Like you have a lot of good safeties corner
- 51:46You have better slot options than you do outside corners
- 51:51With outside corners, you have Ezra Thomas. You have Jade Barron. You have
- 51:55Chavon revel Benjamin Morrison just to name a few. Okay
- 52:00Kobe Bryant Quincy Riley
- 52:03The list goes on and on. Okay
- 52:05But with you having the sixth pick in the draft
- 52:10Where exactly do you want to take this thing? Because running back? There's no need for you to draft Aston Genti
- 52:16Okay, for any person that says the Aston Genti needs to go to the Raiders
- 52:21You're crazy. Okay, absolutely crazy linebacker
- 52:27Do you want to address it that high
- 52:29No, do you really want to be able to go and get someone like a Jihad Campbell that high? No
- 52:40Do you want to go and maybe get somebody like Roberts Palin and bring him back? Sure
- 52:45Because it's not gonna cost you a whole lot of money. Listen here folks outside of Fred Warner
- 52:51Roquan Smith and
- 52:54Who else is there any other no linebacker I could think of
- 52:57Probably not outside of those two maybe even Patrick clean if you want to throw him in there outside of those three
- 53:04There's nobody else that can be demanding a whole lot of money
- 53:08So linebacker has become a spot where you
- 53:11Can be a little bit cheap with if you really wanted to but all in all you have to figure out a way to build this team
- 53:19Because right now
- 53:21Max Crosby
- 53:23He's out of crossroads. Okay
- 53:25Sure, he wants to be loyal to the team, but at the same time he realizes that listen this team is not going anywhere
- 53:33I'm not getting any younger. I'm trying to win. I'm trying to experience winning football
- 53:39And if this team does not get exact together, I'm gonna go
- 53:44Simple as that and I don't blame him for it
- 53:46How many times have we seen the Raiders continue to fall on their face every single year?
- 53:53They get all this build up and hide. Oh, this might be the year this might be the year this might be the year
- 53:59And that's thing, you know, they just flop and now you're trying to figure out exactly what went wrong with the Raiders
- 54:05Once again, it's not worth it. It's just not worth it
- 54:09Now when we look at candidates for restructure extension trades and cuts
- 54:13Jacobi Myers you can give him either an extension or
- 54:18You can just you know, let him go
- 54:20Me personally I would keep him because you're gonna need at least one to two receivers
- 54:25Just to stay with the team like you're gonna have to especially if you're gonna draft a quarterback
- 54:30Which if you're I will continue to say it again
- 54:32If you are not drafting either cam board or Shaddur Sanders do not overreach for any of these other quarterbacks
- 54:40I'm just saying
- 54:42When we look at his market value for Jacobi Myers, okay, it's two years
- 54:4629.8 million which is only 14.9 million a year. That's not that bad
- 54:51It is not earth shattering
- 54:53It is not something that is going to break the bank, but at the same time it is
- 54:57Compensating him for being loyal to the team. That's just basically what it is Gardner. Mint you restructure
- 55:04100% of the way. Okay, his cap hit this year
- 55:0813.8 million bring that down just a few notches. Okay, because when we look at his base salary, it's 11.8 million
- 55:14Most likely you're going to be the backup
- 55:17You are not going to be the starting quarterback for the Raiders. You're going to be the backup
- 55:22So do a simple restructure that way if anything crazy happens in the offseason where a team does need a quarterback
- 55:28You can get you know Gardner meant you for I don't know third for a fifth round pick, you know
- 55:36But when we look at Max Crosby like I just said trade him
- 55:40At this point there is no need to continue to keep someone who is a perennial all-pro
- 55:46One of the best pass rushers in the league on a team that is not going anywhere
- 55:51This team is far away from being competitive
- 55:55Let him go you can use those picks to really build this team in a direction that you really need to now granted
- 56:03You hit on two of the most important things you got your coach and you got a really good team
- 56:09And you got a really good GM
- 56:11Two good things right but outside of that you have a bunch of question marks on every part of this roster outside of Max Crosby spot
- 56:20like Christian Wilkins
- 56:23That signing looks like it's starting to blow up in their face
- 56:26He is not even half of what he was when he was in Miami. I don't know if it's because of the Vegas nightlife
- 56:32I don't know if it's because of Vegas. I don't know what it is, but he is not the same person
- 56:37I would not be surprised if he's being shopped around
- 56:41Currently right now as we record this episode. Okay, then we look at Robert Spelane
- 56:47Give me an extension two years twenty point seven million which is only ten point four million a year. It's not bad
- 56:53You keep someone like a Robert Spelane so that he can help and show and mold the next, you know linebacker
- 57:00how to do things if you bring in someone like a barricader or
- 57:04Carson swearing sir if I'm if I'm not mistaken if I'm mispronouncing your name my bad
- 57:11Don't mean to do it intentionally, but you have options with with linebacker. Okay, you could get someone like a Devin
- 57:17Why you could get someone like a Robert Spelane like I just said you could bring in someone like a Kwan Alexander if you wanted to
- 57:23There is options at inside linebacker. Okay, but all in all I
- 57:29Think the Raiders need to figure out exactly
- 57:31What is the direction of this team? Are we really going through a real?
- 57:37Rebuild or are we trying to do some patchwork?
- 57:41Because if we're going through this thing we have to be able to figure out, okay, what positions do we need to address in free agency?
- 57:49address address excuse me in
- 57:52In the draft because sure you're in a really good spot
- 57:56You can get you know, you can get your quarterback. You can get your receiver. You can get your DB
- 58:01You can get your running back or your linebacker, but do you want to waste that hive of draft pick on?
- 58:09a linebacker or running back no
- 58:11Maybe a DB maybe a receiver maybe a quarterback but outside of that. There's no need for you to do it
- 58:18Okay, which speaking of which apparently they're shopping Michael Mayer around as well. So
- 58:23You know you have that as well because outside of Brock Bowers and maybe Jacoby Myers if he stays
- 58:31What else do you have on the Raiders offense? Nothing?
- 58:35Even the offensive line they could probably do a better job when it comes to bring in better talent there as well like
- 58:42This is a work in progress for the Raiders. This is not going to be an overnight thing
- 58:46This is going to be a three to five year project. Honestly speaking here. Let's get to the Chargers. Okay, so Chargers
- 58:5366.1 million in cash space with a rollover capital 4.8 million not bad your free agents
- 59:00Khalil Mac Taylor Heineke Morgan Fox Christian Fulton DJ Chark a Sante Samuel Jr. JK Dobbins Marques May Josh
- 59:08Palmer Eli Apple and Bradley bulls been just a name a few okay draft picks your first your second your third your fourth
- 59:15You have two fifth round picks you have three sixth round picks and you have two seventh round picks
- 59:22All know you got a lot of a lot of good picks. Okay, I'm not going to use all of them
- 59:27Positions of need wide receiver edge defensive line cornerback tight end interior offensive line linebacker running back. Okay
- 59:36Who let's let's see. How do we want to do this? How do we want to do this?
- 59:41Let's start backwards then they go forward. Let's do that. So running back. We all know that this is a really productive running back class
- 59:48We all know that you have different options at running back. You have your receiver types
- 59:53You have your bruises you have all different types of running backs in this draft class
- 59:58The question is how high do you value it me personally? I value it in the second in
- 1:00:05Moving to maybe the fourth. Okay, that's that's probably the sweet spot for me when it comes to running backs
- 1:00:11I am not getting a running back in the first round if his name is not asked in Gentry
- 1:00:18If it is not asked in Gentry, I am not getting him in the first round
- 1:00:22Just saying now when we look at linebacker same thing with the Raiders
- 1:00:28Sure, you can address it, you know in free agency or you can go and get someone in the draft
- 1:00:34Barry Carter, he'll probably be available. Maybe in the second or third round same thing MacArthur
- 1:00:41Swerranger as well Jihad Campbell. He's a first round pick. Okay, and you're really not in the position to go after Jihad Campbell
- 1:00:50Because you have the 22nd pick and he's not gonna fall that far now tight in sure you can address this maybe day two or day three
- 1:00:58I don't think Colston Loveland or Tyler Warren is gonna drop that far
- 1:01:02I think if you get someone like a Harold Fandin, Jr. Or you get the tight end from Miami
- 1:01:08I think those are really good draft, you know picks or you can go you can pay for one
- 1:01:13You could get someone like a Micah Secchi if you really wanted to right?
- 1:01:16Insure your offensive line. You have options. You can bring in, you know a veteran or you can draft one now from a veteran standpoint
- 1:01:24You're gonna have you know people like what's his name Kevin Zyler?
- 1:01:28You're gonna have Alex Kappa. You're gonna have Mackay Bekton just to name a few I think Brandon Sheriff as well like
- 1:01:34James Daniels like I can just continue to go on Tevin Jenkins, right?
- 1:01:38You have options with interior offensive line if you want to take the veteran approach compared to drafting someone
- 1:01:44corner
- 1:01:46Like I said before you have better options with slot corner than you do outside corner. Okay
- 1:01:53Do you want to go and get someone like a Ezra Thomas?
- 1:01:57Do you want to get someone like a Jaday Baron?
- 1:01:58Do you want to get someone like a Maxwell Hariston?
- 1:02:00That is a decision that you have to make because remember you also have to pay a Santé Samuel Jr. as well
- 1:02:06So I think based off of what they do with that situation will dictate their move when it comes to corner
- 1:02:13Now defensive line you can go about this a few different ways
- 1:02:17Sure, we all know defensive line class is really good, but how much do you value it?
- 1:02:22Okay, because me personally I feel like if you get someone like a Derek Harman great
- 1:02:27If you get someone like a Ken of Grant great if you get someone like a Walter Nolan great
- 1:02:32And if you bring someone back like a Morgan Fox or you bring in I don't know Jonathan Allen or Javon Hargrave
- 1:02:40Like that's still really good as well. I feel like the defensive line definitely needs to be
- 1:02:47emphasized just a little bit this year just because
- 1:02:51We just saw a defensive line in the Super Bowl
- 1:02:54The Super Bowl dominate the Chiefs they crushed the Chiefs they went after Patrick Mahomes
- 1:03:02That is the only way that you will be able to really have the advantage over Patrick Mahomes
- 1:03:08Because the reason why Patrick Mahomes has lost only two times in the Super Bowl is why?
- 1:03:14defensive line
- 1:03:15The two losses that Patrick Mahomes has had is because of what?
- 1:03:19defensive line the defensive lines for the Buccaneers did the exact same thing that the Eagles did they went after Patrick Mahomes
- 1:03:27And they were relentless
- 1:03:29That's what you have to do in order to have the advantage over Patrick Mahomes
- 1:03:33And I feel like you have to prioritize that with the uncertainty with Khalil Mack and especially Joey Bosa, okay?
- 1:03:39Edge I have to start looking at more edge prospects. I mean, of course you have James Pierce
- 1:03:45You have Michael Williams, you know, you have options there honestly you could go you can bring in somebody
- 1:03:51You know like a Josh Swayde if you wanted to or Hassan Reddick just to name a few okay wide receiver
- 1:03:58That needs to be a priority. Okay, Quinn Johnston. I don't know what to say about him at this point
- 1:04:05He has not lived up to that draft pick
- 1:04:07He's like butter hands at this point better get butter fingers. That's his new nickname butter fingers because
- 1:04:16Here you have someone in Justin Herbert who was trying to save your career and you can't even catch the ball, bro
- 1:04:22Like what is going on on your hands broken hands broken?
- 1:04:25Do you need to see a hand doctor because man? Oh man, can you you can't even catch a leaf if it tried to fall in your hand?
- 1:04:33That's how bad it is. All right
- 1:04:35Outside of Lama Conkey you have to do more with a receiver room now
- 1:04:40You can bring in someone like a you know, Mike Williams, you know have a little reunion
- 1:04:43Whatever won't cost you a whole lot of money or you can go you can draft one
- 1:04:48You could go and get someone like a Saviano Williams
- 1:04:51You can go and get
- 1:04:52receivers that are bigger body that are really good at blocking because again, we all know that this system relies on what?
- 1:04:59running the football
- 1:05:01effectively to be specific here, so
- 1:05:03It's only best that if you bring in somebody that are willing blockers. I think that would do
- 1:05:10numbers for this offense
- 1:05:13Now when we look at you know candidates for
- 1:05:16Restructure extension trades and cuts Joey Bosa
- 1:05:20You're either doing a restructure or you're trading him at this point
- 1:05:23Because right now he's getting way too expensive and there is just no need to continue to keep him
- 1:05:30Okay, because when we look at his base salary this year 13 million when we look at his cap hit
- 1:05:3736.4 million you have to be able to bring that number down just a little bit
- 1:05:42Because as of right now Khalil Mack has been a little bit more productive in recent years and what Joey Bosa has why I don't know
- 1:05:49Now when we look at you know other candidates
- 1:05:51All right, a Sante Samuel you can give him an extension his market value is only four years 45 point eight million
- 1:05:58Which is 11.5 million a year not bad Morgan Fox you can give him an extension as well one year
- 1:06:054.8 million which like I just said 4.8 million a year. That's not bad
- 1:06:10That's not you know record-breaking Taylor Heineke. You need a backup quarterback one year 1.3 million
- 1:06:16It's not earth shattering JK Dobbins
- 1:06:18You could bring him back if you wanted to just so he can play the mentor role and help the young running backs that you plan on
- 1:06:26Getting it's not bad even for him two years 8.1 million, which is only 4.1 million a year
- 1:06:31That's not bad at all folks. So all in all the charges are in a really good spot
- 1:06:36I don't think nobody expected them to do what they did in the first half of the season
- 1:06:41But they did it and so now you have to continue to build off of that momentum now me personally
- 1:06:48I think you have to really focus on the defense more than offense
- 1:06:51I feel like your offensive needs can definitely be addressed in day two and day three then your
- 1:06:57Defensive needs. I think if you get someone like a TJ Sanders like a
- 1:07:04Who's a good one? Who's a good one? Who's a good one? Jade Barron or
- 1:07:08Maxwell Harrison or
- 1:07:11Malachi Starks like if you get someone like that
- 1:07:13I think it would definitely do a lot for the defense because
- 1:07:16This team could potentially be a really good playoff team if they hit on their draft picks if they hit on their free agency
- 1:07:23Simon because right now you have Justin Herbert you have
- 1:07:28Joe Alt you have Rashawn Slater like you have a really good offensive line
- 1:07:32All you really have to do is just bring in a really good productive running back and I guarantee you you have a better season
- 1:07:39Of what you did last year just saying on to the final team the chiefs
- 1:07:44Okay, this was a little bit more complicated. All right for one your negative
- 1:07:5015.9 million in the hole with the rollover capital of 3.1 million free agents
- 1:07:55Dehop just to read Hollywood Brown Carson Wentz DJ Humphrey so Maaji Piran
- 1:08:01Charles Amenahu Josh Uche and Derrick
- 1:08:05Nandi I think I think that's a pronounce your name. Sorry draft picks. You got your first your second
- 1:08:10You have two third round picks. You have a fourth and you have a seventh. All right positions of need offensive line
- 1:08:16Wide receiver running back defensive line in interior linebacker
- 1:08:20So just to start things off for one you have to figure out how you're going to be in cap compliance. That's one
- 1:08:26To you have to figure out. How can you have an edge over everybody else?
- 1:08:33Because right now I feel like the chiefs have lost that edge
- 1:08:36Remember when they had Tyree kill and McCollard men and you know, they just had that that track team of receivers and you know
- 1:08:44They was pulling up points and they were super fast and whatnot. Nobody could really match them
- 1:08:49But now you're you're starting to see that the chiefs are starting to be like the Patriots at this point where
- 1:08:55You are really rocky in the first half of the season
- 1:08:58But then when we get to the second half of the season
- 1:09:01It's guns blazing because you know you got to get that first round by and you got to position yourself for the playoffs and all
- 1:09:07Those different types of things well now people are starting to pick up on what you're doing not to mention
- 1:09:13Teams within your own division are starting to be a little bit more competitive
- 1:09:19That was the benefit that the Patriots have for the longest time, which was the rest of their division wasn't as organized
- 1:09:26Sure, you know, there'll be some teams that would have you know two or three
- 1:09:31You know really good years and really good teams and whatnot
- 1:09:34But overall it was the Patriots that were being the dominant figures with their own division
- 1:09:40It's not like that for the chiefs now
- 1:09:42So now you have to figure out a way how you can be better than what everybody else is at this point
- 1:09:49Like really think about this for a second here if the Broncos get their act together if the Chargers get their act together
- 1:09:55You are going to have problems
- 1:09:57It is going to be harder for you to get outside of the AFC West
- 1:10:02Not to mention you're only prioritizing three players
- 1:10:06Chris Jones
- 1:10:08Patchman Holmes Travis Kelsey and what it sounds like to me is this is probably Travis Kelsey's last year
- 1:10:14So you really want to be able to try to win a championship
- 1:10:18Okay, now when we look at you know the positions of knee offensive line 100% of the way
- 1:10:24This is the same problem that they had when they faced the Buccaneers that year in the Super Bowl
- 1:10:29Their offensive line was not that good and guess what happened they got crushed and guess what Andy re-did that following
- 1:10:37Offseason rebuilt the offensive line and they were right back where they were holding up another Lombardi
- 1:10:43So that's exactly what they have to do now
- 1:10:45Because granted you're trying to do some patchwork with Joe Thuny at tackle, but Joe Thuny is not a tackle Joe Thuny is a guard
- 1:10:52He is a guard
- 1:10:54So you are going to have to bring in some productive
- 1:10:58Tackles because I just don't believe that they believe in their tackles that they drafted
- 1:11:03I think personally they'll probably take the veteran approach and probably just pay for somebody
- 1:11:08But for how much I don't even know okay running back. I
- 1:11:13Think they're going to prioritize that a little bit high only because I don't think they're really going to pay Isaiah Pacheco
- 1:11:18So you might also just want to draft, you know, Taze Brooks, Devin Newell
- 1:11:24Marion Hanson, Trevon Henderson, you know any any of those guys right?
- 1:11:30Defensive line definitely got to prioritize that because outside of George Coloftis in Chris Jones
- 1:11:36What else do you really have who else can you really rely on honestly speaking here?
- 1:11:41nobody
- 1:11:43nobody at all so you need to
- 1:11:45Pluck one of these defensive line where there be a Darius Alexander or Neas Peoples or JJ Pegasus or TJ Sanders or any of these guys
- 1:11:53Or you can bring in a veteran veterans will be willing to take a chief cheap excuse me
- 1:12:00Just to be on a team that is you know, but still a Super Bowl caliber team
- 1:12:05Like I don't care anyone says as long as Patrick Holmes can throw ball. They will always be a Super Bowl caliber team
- 1:12:12Okay, wide receiver
- 1:12:14Most likely they're gonna take the cheap route with wide receiver. They'll probably draft
- 1:12:19Maybe you want a two of them, but they'll probably bring back
- 1:12:22You know Hollywood Brown and whatnot and it also didn't help that they lost for she writes the way that they did and it's just a whole lot with the
- 1:12:29Chiefs the chiefs have a lot of questions that they have to ask because
- 1:12:33What exactly can you say about the chiefs that makes you feel like they are in the same conversation with the Eagles?
- 1:12:40Because even with the Eagles sure they put all of their money into the offense while having a really young defense
- 1:12:47But guess what the defense is just as productive as the offense
- 1:12:52Whereas the chiefs
- 1:12:54This past season you were struggling you were struggling against the 49ers
- 1:12:59You were struggling against other teams that normally it would be a cakewalk
- 1:13:03But that's not the case when we look at candidates for restructure extension trades and cuts
- 1:13:08Trace Smith
- 1:13:09Maybe an extension and I only say that because
- 1:13:13That is a lot of money that you're gonna pay him you are resetting the market for Trace Smith
- 1:13:18But at the same time
- 1:13:20You got to keep him because there's nobody else really on the offensive line outside of him and Joe Thune
- 1:13:25He and Creed Humphrey that you really trust
- 1:13:27Just being real here. So with his market value is four years
- 1:13:3278.8 million which is 19.7 million a year
- 1:13:35But even now he's he is technically speaking the highest pay guard with the franchise tag now
- 1:13:41Is he gonna play on the tag? No, because we all know that the franchise tag is a placeholder
- 1:13:46Until they can get a deal done now when we look at Patrick Mahomes restructure
- 1:13:51Okay, because when we look at his deal, which is a crazy deal if we're being real here
- 1:13:56If you've if you've never seen the financials with his deal go on spot-rat and just look at it
- 1:14:01Okay, so his base salary this year is 16.6 million next year
- 1:14:0645.3 the year the year after that 45.8
- 1:14:10Okay, his cap hits his cap hit this year
- 1:14:1566.2 million
- 1:14:1766.2 million next year at 68.6 and then the year after that is 64.8
- 1:14:24You have to find a way to bring these numbers down a little bit
- 1:14:28Just so you can be able to create cash space so you can try to at least squeeze out maybe at least
- 1:14:34Two maybe three more championships if you do that mission accomplished because right now
- 1:14:40this is a really crazy deal and
- 1:14:43You're in the hole with 15.9 million
- 1:14:46So you got to find a way to create some cash base and you got to do it quickly. All right now when we look at
- 1:14:54Carson wins you could possibly give him an extension
- 1:14:57You know have a backup quarterback just in case you know someone that was productive at at one point in time
- 1:15:02His market value one year 1.9 million, which is again 1.9 million a year
- 1:15:07Derek Nandi you can give him an extension if you want to just for you know
- 1:15:13deaf purposes if you if you really want to or you just let him go like
- 1:15:18With this being a really good defensive line class and I will continue to beat on the table for this
- 1:15:23You have to make an investment with defensive line to counteract having Chris Jones in George Coloft is you have to do it
- 1:15:32This is probably your best opportunity to really bring in some really productive guys like if they give Derek Harmon
- 1:15:39That's a problem if they get someone like a Walter Nolan or Ken of Grant or any of those guys
- 1:15:45It's gonna be a problem. So you have to make that investment
- 1:15:50Now when we look at you know anybody else
- 1:15:52sure
- 1:15:54There may be some restructures sure they have a lot of things that they have to figure out but all in all
- 1:16:00We all still believe in the Chiefs just because they are the Chiefs as long as Andy Reed and Patrick Holmes are still playing
- 1:16:06They'll always have a chance now with the Chiefs. They've made a lot of sacrifices
- 1:16:13You gave up the Jerry a sneak because you couldn't afford it. You gave up Tyree kill
- 1:16:18So now you have to find a way to be a little bit more creative than what everybody else is
- 1:16:24So you have to find an edge
- 1:16:26Over your opponents because right now the AFC is probably the most competitive that it will ever be
- 1:16:34You have Lamar Jackson Joe Burrow Josh Allen Justin Harper a CJ
- 1:16:39Stral just to name a few okay, and that's just an AFC like the NFC is starting to get better too
- 1:16:46You got Jaden Daniels got Jalen Hertz. You got Brock Purdy. You got that press card
- 1:16:53I'm not gonna go that route, but
- 1:16:55It's getting more and more competitive
- 1:16:59For you to continue to go back and win championships
- 1:17:02So you have to find an edge over everybody
