- 0:00Hello everyone and welcome back to the Kenny Wallace Show,
- 0:04brought to you by Jags, the leader in high performance
- 0:07aftermarket car parts. Remember to go to jags.com, All
- 0:13right, the Bristol race is over. I know what I saw with my own
- 0:17eyes, Greg Stucker from Goodyear said.
- 0:21We are going to make these tires wear out because that's what
- 0:24NASCAR wants. So today's race at Bristol, that
- 0:28was the same tire that Denny Hamlin won on in the fall race
- 0:32back in 2023. Yes, Sir, Reed, that was the
- 0:36exact same tire. What was the difference?
- 0:40Why were those tires wearing out?
- 0:43Well, last year they used something on the racetrack
- 0:46called the PJ One. Now you ask yourself, why are
- 0:51they using anything? Well, just like the Eldora
- 0:54Speedway in Rossburg. OH, the high lane is dominant.
- 0:59So that dirt track at Eldora, the high lane is dominant and
- 1:03the fans love the high lane being dominant because the cars
- 1:07up there on the wall, it's beating in the banging, sparks
- 1:09are flying once Jack Hewitt said I'd rather lose running high
- 1:17than the wind running low. So the high lane has been
- 1:22dominant here at Bristol. So NASCAR said we're going to
- 1:26put some of this, this grip solution on the bottom.
- 1:30So for years they've used PJ One, I don't have no idea what
- 1:34it stands for. So for today's race, they use
- 1:38something called resin Rs or no RESIN, something like that.
- 1:45Well, Greg Stucker from Goodyear said, Man, this is really
- 1:50wearing these tires out. Big old press conference right
- 1:54in the middle of the race. Now imagine if you're Goodyear
- 1:58500 lap race at Bristol and they just called it audible press
- 2:03conference. Everybody come to the Media
- 2:05Center, so everybody goes running to the Media Center.
- 2:09And Greg Stucker from Goodyear says, look, this is the same
- 2:12tire, this is the same tire. The difference is the resin on
- 2:17the racetrack. All right, hopefully that
- 2:20brought you up to date on what was going on today.
- 2:23Now here's the big thing. It was a tire wear race.
- 2:29Nobody wrecked out, nobody blew a tire and went running into the
- 2:33wall. It was just, hey, this is a tire
- 2:36wear race, so everybody had to slow the roll or I got a
- 2:41vibration pit pit. Actually Denny Hammond was
- 2:46leading the race and he goes, I got a vibration, crew chief
- 2:49said. Pit winning move.
- 2:52This is where experience comes in.
- 2:54Denning. Hamlin.
- 2:55Pits right. This is a winning move.
- 2:59A younger driver, somebody not experienced, they would have
- 3:02said I got, I got a vibration. Crew chief would have said hold
- 3:06on to it buddy. But because of Denny Hamlin's
- 3:09experience and his crew chief's experience, they pit.
- 3:14The tower does not blow other drivers.
- 3:16I feel, whoa, you know, spin out things like that.
- 3:19But man, I'll tell you what, if you would listen to some people,
- 3:24you think there was a wreck every lap.
- 3:27I will say this, this was an odd race.
- 3:31It was an unbelievable race. It was unbelievable because it
- 3:34had a record amount of lead changes.
- 3:38I mean, I don't know what the final tally was, but the last
- 3:42time I looked, with about 200 laps to go, 41 lead changes for
- 3:48the Tire Ware race at Bristol, it it was a it was a race of
- 3:53chess, like a chess game. You move here, I moved there, it
- 3:57was incredible. So 41 lead changes, you know,
- 4:01with about 100 and 75200 laps to go, I thought it was a great
- 4:06race. Now I see some of you fans out
- 4:09there can't change my mind. It was no good.
- 4:13Well, listen, hashtag. I thought it was one of the best
- 4:17races we've seen in years. Can't change my mind either.
- 4:21I believe some of you. You know, I don't know what
- 4:26happened during the COVID era around, you know, 2020, but you
- 4:30all came out of it dark, negative.
- 4:35And I've got to tell you something.
- 4:36I mean, I just landed. I just got back from Bristol.
- 4:39As you can tell, we're back in the studios already.
- 4:42And from what I saw when I was at the racetrack, I was at the
- 4:48racetrack. You were not there.
- 4:50I was. Damn, Herman, calm down.
- 4:53Calm down, Herman. So I was at the racetrack and
- 4:57what I saw was a lot of happy people.
- 5:01It is dawned on me that some of you in your houses, you're
- 5:04depressed. You came out of COVID all
- 5:07depressed. See that?
- 5:12Watch what I'm going to do, man, what a great race.
- 5:15Look at that crowd. That crowd is a lot bigger than
- 5:19it's been in years in the the March April race, Much bigger
- 5:23crowd. NASCAR's gaming.
- 5:25Look at the TV ratings, over 4 million people watching.
- 5:28So some of you are going to take the negative route.
- 5:32I'm going, man, what a race. Because it was a hell of a race.
- 5:35You didn't know who was coming or going.
- 5:37And just like Kyle Larson said after the race, what just
- 5:41happened, what just happened? That was the first race that the
- 5:46great Kyle Larson had to take care of his equipment.
- 5:51He come out with a great finish. Now, Kyle Larson, stand on the
- 5:55gas. Our greatest driver of this era
- 5:59has has finally witnessed, finally felt a race where you
- 6:04can wreck yourself out if you drive too hard.
- 6:07This is the way. Listen, this is the way it used
- 6:10to be back in the day. You had those motors that cast
- 6:14iron the heads. The fans loved it.
- 6:17Yes, Sir. Bobby Allison would win the race
- 6:20by two laps. One car would be on the lead lap
- 6:23all by himself and here he'd come up and turn 4.
- 6:26His motor did not blow because he took it.
- 6:29He fans were on their feet. Now we have everybody on the
- 6:33lead lap, side by side, door handle to door handle I don't
- 6:38like, but that's only a couple of you I'm calling you all out.
- 6:43Do what you want, but I got to tell you hashtag can't change my
- 6:48mind. It was a great race.
- 6:50So all of you that is still have COVID fog let me.
- 6:54Grab my hand, Grab my hand. Do you got my hand?
- 6:57Do you feel OK? Grab on.
- 6:59I'm pulling you out of that COVID fog.
- 7:01Hey, look at the Herminator. He's smiling.
- 7:07The Herminator is happy. What a race it was.
- 7:10Danny Hamlin most likely upset you because we had him on
- 7:15trackside Live just hours ago. I said, Danny, 70% of these fans
- 7:21are doing you, but 30%, they love you.
- 7:24What do you like? He goes, I love it all, Herman.
- 7:26So what an incredible race put together by Danny Hammond,
- 7:31right? Some of you don't like him, but
- 7:33he's winning, so you got to love that, right?
- 7:36Boo, You're in Victory Lane. Did you watch after the race?
- 7:41Boo you won Boo, Boo, guy in Victory Lane.
- 7:46That's hilarious. A a dummy.
- 7:49He's in Victory Lane. So anyway, Denny Hamlin, the
- 7:53hero of the race 2 Bristol wins in a row.
- 7:58Locked into the the championship headed looking good.
- 8:02And how about Joe Gibbs? Joe Gibbs Not looking good.
- 8:06Race 123, Race four and five. Phoenix and Bristol.
- 8:11Joe Gibbs at one time was 1234. So what a race today at Bristol.
- 8:18The fans loved it. When I was there, I just landed.
- 8:23I was. I was at Bristol repeating
- 8:25myself. The people at the racetrack,
- 8:27they love it. They're there, they feel it.
- 8:30It's only some of you that are upset that I want the dirt off
- 8:36the track. It was a better race with dirt
- 8:39on the track. Make your mind up.
- 8:43Make your mind up. The dirt is off the track.
- 8:47It was a barn burner. It was a great race.
- 8:49Is he going to blow a tire? Is he not going to blow a tire?
- 8:52They're pitting for tires. They got plenty gas.
- 8:55All right, everybody. I think I broke it down for you.
- 9:00This race was a success. I told you what happened.
- 9:03Greg Stucker from Goodyear said this was the same tire as the
- 9:10September race last year. This was the same tire.
- 9:13What happened? The resin.
- 9:16Wow, what is resin? Google it.
- 9:18Respond right here. What is resin?
- 9:21RESIN. Sounds like something in
- 9:24baseball. Maybe they should go back to the
- 9:27PJ one because the resin wore the track out.
- 9:31Bigger crowd than we've seen in the last 10 years for the March,
- 9:35April race. Great race.
- 9:38Listen, I don't know what you saw, but I I got good eyes.
- 9:42Can't change my mind. Hashtag can't change my mind.
- 9:47Respond right here. Tell me how bad you hate NASCAR.
