- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10This is the end fucker. Welcome to What's Your Least
- 0:13Favorite Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:16the good, the bad, the ugly, and the absurd in all of our
- 0:18favorite. And least favorite scary movies?
- 0:20Because we believe every horror movie rifely has its fan base.
- 0:23Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:26My name is Jesse. And welcome everybody back to
- 0:29our Chucky movie coverage. We have Cult of Chucky up for
- 0:34everybody this week. Yes.
- 0:36And just as a reminder for those of you who like leave before our
- 0:41cleaning up of stuff at the end of episodes, we did a schedule
- 0:47swap for Terrifier 3 and Cult of Chucky.
- 0:50Because while we had initially scheduled Terrifier 3 to release
- 0:54shortly after the DV DS released, we didn't factor in
- 0:57the time it would take to watch record, edit, draw, yeah,
- 1:02etcetera, etcetera. So we will still be covering
- 1:04Terrifier 3, it will just be coming out next week.
- 1:06Yeah, next Thursday. Yeah, flip flop, that's all.
- 1:09Yeah, so that's coming. So instead, we're gonna wrap up
- 1:13not the franchise of Chucky, but the story, the movie continuity.
- 1:19Chucky proper, Yeah. This is the last one of the
- 1:24actual movie progression until we get to the show.
- 1:27The next month, we'll be ending the Chucky coverage with the
- 1:30remake. Yes, we will be covering the
- 1:32remake. We do still think it's important
- 1:34to discuss it, even though it's not Canon to the story we've
- 1:40been following so far. It's.
- 1:42Part of the franchise. That it is part of the franchise
- 1:44and it is our duty to cover it. I'm afraid that I said next week
- 1:49and I don't want to confuse people about her schedule
- 1:51anymore. And that'll be next month.
- 1:53OK, yes, next month we will be finishing up.
- 1:57Yeah, the child's play, the totality of the coverage.
- 2:01Yep. We'll be moving on to a new
- 2:03franchise in February, yes. We won't be covering the Chucky
- 2:07TV series on the podcast for a variety of reasons, most of
- 2:10which being it would be hard to give it the proper like, love
- 2:16and care that it needs with our format.
- 2:18So we definitely encourage people to watch it, but that
- 2:22just it's not going to be part of our show.
- 2:24We'll never say never, you know, maybe things will change and
- 2:27we'll be able to do it somehow. But as of right now, yeah, we
- 2:29can't. So yeah.
- 2:31But that's all I have by the way of announcement, so we can go
- 2:34ahead and do poems on. Yeah.
- 2:36All right. So last week we talked about
- 2:38It's a wonderful knife and we wanted to ask everybody, which
- 2:42Justin Long movie character would you prefer to have as your
- 2:45mayor? All right, so the options you
- 2:50have the I can't even remember his name in the movie.
- 2:54Henry, Henry from It's a Wonderful night.
- 2:57Henry Waters. You have his character from
- 3:00Barbarian, Yes. His character from Waiting, yes.
- 3:03We recognize that that's not a horror movie.
- 3:05I guess it depends on who you ask.
- 3:08It could be. I definitely gave me some some
- 3:13scares, yeah. And finally, the Justin along
- 3:17from Tusk. Wally.
- 3:20Yeah. All right, so the results.
- 3:23Nobody wants the wonderful knife one.
- 3:25Well, we saw how that turned out.
- 3:27Yeah, not good. The old mind control.
- 3:28Yeah, it's stupid. Barbarian got 11% waiting at 58%
- 3:36and Tusk 32. OK, so I I understand why people
- 3:41got chose waiting because that's the most responsible, the most
- 3:46likable, Justin Long out of all he.
- 3:47Was offered a promotion to Assistant Manager.
- 3:51He's management material. Yeah, Yeah.
- 3:54I mean, that's kind of like the the track record.
- 3:57It's gone Packer management material.
- 4:03Yeah, and you know, I got some people explaining why they would
- 4:09say Tusk, and usually it's the one that I like the most.
- 4:13Is he? He just needed to win in that
- 4:15movie. I mean, he kind of sucked.
- 4:18I mean, that's kind of the thing with all Justin Long characters
- 4:20is they usually kind of suck. But you know what?
- 4:23I'm I'm actually going to agree. Like he needed that fucking win.
- 4:28Tusk, the ending. The Tusk bums me the fuck out.
- 4:30And you know what? But also maybe if his entire job
- 4:34wasn't exploiting people that he thinks has funny tragedies
- 4:37happening to them. I think there's a better way to
- 4:40to learn this lesson and then turn into a walrus and then go
- 4:43to agreeing. That he deserved to be turned
- 4:45into a walrus. I'm just saying it makes him
- 4:48less sympathetic. Then that's.
- 4:50True. Not completely unsympathetic,
- 4:52just less sympathetic. OK, which one are you wanting?
- 4:56Obviously waiting Justin long. Waiting he.
- 4:58Was management material and also he told off that one couple
- 5:03which every server has wanted to do.
- 5:05You know what makes this so tough is I don't care how much
- 5:09of A douchebag he plays, he's such a fun douchebag to watch.
- 5:12Like his his barbarian character is so fucking terrible but I
- 5:16fucking love it. And we've covered all of these
- 5:19movies except for waiting. That's true.
- 5:21That's true. We have you can.
- 5:22Listen to all of these Justin Long opinions.
- 5:25Should be cover waiting. You let us know.
- 5:27Patrons or patrons? Patrons, Bubbies, if you if you
- 5:33want to make this happen for a bonus episode, just let us know.
- 5:37Yeah, so OK, I'll choose him too.
- 5:39The waiting Justin Long is the clearly the most qualified to be
- 5:42mayor. Wow.
- 5:45Yep. Yep, he sets a low bar, that's
- 5:47for sure. OK, so I think we can go on into
- 5:51Cult of Chucky now. Indeed.
- 5:55All right, Colt of Chucky premiered August 24th, 2017 at
- 6:00Frightfest. It had its at wide release
- 6:03October 3rd, 2017 on streaming and Blu-ray.
- 6:07We watched it on Blu-ray because we actually own that one on
- 6:09Blu-ray. Yeah.
- 6:10I think at this point, the only one we don't, the only ones we
- 6:13don't own on Blu-ray, are Seed and Curse, right?
- 6:16Nope. You bought seed, remember?
- 6:18Oh yeah, it did. We don't.
- 6:20We don't have Curse and we don't have the remake.
- 6:22You keep forgetting that the remake exists.
- 6:24I do keep forgetting. The remake.
- 6:25And that's so strange because you're like a champion for it.
- 6:29You're you're one of the few supporters out there for that
- 6:31remake, and then you're not even acknowledging it.
- 6:34Good I'm I think cuz I'm just thinking of the Canon storyline.
- 6:37Yeah, that makes sense. So if you want to watch this
- 6:42thing, it's not going to be streaming anywhere
- 6:44unfortunately, so you'll have to rinse it, or you'll also have to
- 6:47buy a Blu-ray or whatever. It is worth 3 multiple dollars.
- 6:53Three and some change on Amazon, Apple, YouTube, Fandango at
- 6:56home, all those places right there.
- 6:58So it's not super expensive, it's a good.
- 7:01Yes, yeah, it's it's worth, it's worth the price of entry for
- 7:04sure. Written and directed by Don
- 7:06Mancini, music by Joseph Laduccia, and special effects
- 7:10makeup by, you guessed it, Tony Gardner.
- 7:12Yeah. Starring Fiona Dourif as Nika,
- 7:16Brad Dourif as Chucky, Alex Vincent returning as Andy,
- 7:20Jennifer Tilley as Tiffany, Michael Farrell as Doctor Foley,
- 7:26Allison, Don Dorian as Rachel, Adam Herding as Michael,
- 7:31Elizabeth Rosen as Madeline, Grace Lynn Kong as Claire, and
- 7:35Christine Elise returning as Kyle.
- 7:39Briefly. Very, very briefly.
- 7:42All right, which one is Rachel? Rachel, you know, I don't know,
- 7:45she, she was the top listed person on the IMDb and I'm like,
- 7:50well, she's got a she had to have been somebody, but I don't
- 7:53remember her at all. Madeline.
- 7:58She's not in the group therapy sessions.
- 7:59Those are the ones. Those are the other patient.
- 8:01And Malcolm, was she with that orderly?
- 8:03Maybe. No, that was right.
- 8:04That was Ashley. Who is This is a mystery, Who is
- 8:09Rachel? Oh, that was Andy's date at the
- 8:12beginning. Whoa, why did she get such high
- 8:15billing? Maybe.
- 8:16Maybe she like. Were you looking at order of
- 8:18appearance? I don't think so.
- 8:22Well, yeah, 'cause you wouldn't have gotten Christine Elise so
- 8:25early. Well, I did dig for that one.
- 8:30OK, you might have been looking at order of appearance then.
- 8:33Could have been OK. No, but you got Nika right away
- 8:36and Nika doesn't appear. OK, I.
- 8:38I don't have a lot of rhyme or reason to this right here, OK?
- 8:42Like, I just go in there and I'm picking up names left and right.
- 8:44But I saw the name come up. I was like, I got it.
- 8:46Throw it in there, I guess, because, like, she was right
- 8:49there. So I was like, OK, you know,
- 8:50this is Rachel. I will do like the information
- 8:55on a movie ahead of time, like just to kind of prep myself, but
- 8:58sometimes I'm like I can't remember who the main characters
- 9:01are and IMDb is both loosey and goosey and how it likes to list
- 9:06its cast sometimes. We've seen how I go.
- 9:09It made me a fool today. Didn't even remember the fucking
- 9:13characters. Yeah, 2 minutes of screen time,
- 9:15if that. Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't even
- 9:18know her name. I would just say gun girl.
- 9:19Girl that likes to talk about guns during dates.
- 9:22Second Amendment woman. Yeah.
- 9:24Yeah. OK, time for her favorite game.
- 9:26Budget or bug? Ted bug.
- 9:29Ted. Correct.
- 9:32This is yet again another $5,000,000 going towards this.
- 9:36It shared the same budget as Curse.
- 9:38Yep. So I don't have opening box
- 9:41office numbers because it was straight to streaming, but I do
- 9:44have the first month of sales on physical media and that was 2.3
- 9:49million. All right.
- 9:50So pretty sad. Yeah.
- 9:52IMDb 5.3 out of 10. Hurts my feelings.
- 9:58Yeah, that's that's not terrible.
- 10:00It's not terrible, but I think this is a good movie.
- 10:03This is a good movie, so that's why I chose the following theme
- 10:07for the three movies to compare it to dumb movies from 2017.
- 10:12Okay, these are just movies. I'm like, that was dumb, you
- 10:19know? And we've seen all of them, so I
- 10:21can definitively say that they are dumb.
- 10:25Not bad necessarily, but they're dumb.
- 10:27OK? And you wanna know how we're
- 10:30gonna kick this off? We're kicking it off with Death
- 10:33House. Oh my God, that's dumb and bad.
- 10:37That's that is dumb and bad. We have seen that one time.
- 10:40For anybody not familiar, it is a movie.
- 10:43That is, it labeled itself as The Expendables of the horror
- 10:49genre. So they got every horror icon
- 10:53they could possibly get and shove them into the same movie.
- 10:57And it's a fucking mess. We own it on DVD and we're gonna
- 11:01watch it one day again. Travis asks.
- 11:05I'd say about weekly. He's like, I think we should
- 11:08watch Death House again. What do you?
- 11:09Think the only thing is we got to get plastered for it.
- 11:12Yeah. I can't watch that thing so bro
- 11:14we. Watched it on a wedding
- 11:16anniversary too. You guys, it's this, this has
- 11:20like legend status in our household.
- 11:23It does it's and I still don't even know what it's about.
- 11:26No. Like honestly, it's the most
- 11:28confusing movie ever. Yeah, so that Released September
- 11:322nd, 2017. Don't have the budget?
- 11:34Worldwide gross $28,000. IMDb Score 3 out of 10.
- 11:40Generous. Yeah, that is generous.
- 11:44Yeah. Holy shit.
- 11:46Second movie Wish upon. So do you remember that one?
- 11:52Yeah, that's one of Jesse's genre specials.
- 11:55Oh, yes, it is. I remember we watched this movie
- 11:58in theaters. Yeah.
- 12:00And I remember thinking the entire time, this is dumb.
- 12:02I think you know what? I submitted this as a dumb movie
- 12:05for me is when that. Elevator.
- 12:07Scene. That's the scene whenever her
- 12:10dad is like playing saxophone. I'm like, that's what the fuck
- 12:13is happening here. Oh saxophone dad.
- 12:15OK, this is dumb. That's exactly what was going
- 12:19through my brain then. All right, that released July
- 12:2214th, 2017, $12 million budget, $23 million gross and a 5.1 on
- 12:28IMDb and the final movie The Baba Man.
- 12:34That was my birthday, maybe that year we saw it in theaters.
- 12:37We saw so many dumb movies in 2017.
- 12:41Don't think it, don't say it. Don't.
- 12:42Say it, don't say it, don't say it, don't.
- 12:45Think so that released January 13th, 2017.
- 12:50Budget of 7.4 million. Worldwide gross 29 million.
- 12:55That much? That much Hey we who are we to
- 12:59we saw this in theaters. We started watching it on Pluto
- 13:02the other day and honestly got kind of sucked in again.
- 13:05I was like, it's, it could be worse, you know?
- 13:11Like it's not bad. I like the concept of the
- 13:14character. It's a stupid name.
- 13:16Yeah, but I like it because sometimes scary things have dumb
- 13:20names. The boogeyman.
- 13:22That's true. Like, I mean, now you know that
- 13:25it's scary, but like back in the day, you hear boogeyman like
- 13:28what? What is that supposed to be?
- 13:31Either way? So the IMDBI think it's where I
- 13:34left it 4.3. OK, I'll take it.
- 13:38Yeah. I mean, I think that's perfectly
- 13:39in line with that movie, right? There.
- 13:41That's the correct score, yeah. OK, let's do some tag lines.
- 13:45I got two OK, there wasn't one on the posters, so I'm just like
- 13:49doing them in order that they appeared.
- 13:51I. Hate direct to stream posters
- 13:52not having tag lines. I don't understand.
- 13:54Like, you're still selling the movie.
- 13:56Yeah, like you actually. I feel like it's more difficult
- 14:00to sell a movie on streaming than it is like out in like on
- 14:04physical stuff. Like you go into a movie theater
- 14:07or like go into like a video rental store 'cause you just
- 14:09browse. You have like what's what's the
- 14:12term where you have too many options and it makes it
- 14:15difficult to make a decision just because of the sheer amount
- 14:19of options you. Have like choice paralysis,
- 14:23something like it's something like that.
- 14:24Yeah, I mean, that's basically so you need something to sell.
- 14:27So the first one, friends, Cilian, remember.
- 14:32That's OK. Yeah, I mean, and honestly, like
- 14:34that kind of ties up Andy's storyline in the movies pretty
- 14:38well. Yeah, it really, Yeah.
- 14:40I mean, I feel like that was made because of him.
- 14:43And the second one you may feel a little prick.
- 14:47I bet it is a little prick. I was thinking like, is that is
- 14:52that targeted at Chucky or is it because they like did the little
- 14:55thing at the? Beginning.
- 14:57It's because of the needles, yeah, that I was referring to
- 15:01Foley. I thought you're OK.
- 15:03Yeah, this guy, a lot of waiters.
- 15:05Then you could either be Foley, Chucky or people just stabbing
- 15:09Nico. Like, damn, you see this shit?
- 15:12Yeah. OK.
- 15:14Fun facts. OK all.
- 15:15Right, so Diamond C began writing this back in 2015.
- 15:23He wanted to not do the same type of movie that they did with
- 15:28Curse. So Curse was really in attempt
- 15:31at going back to basics and trying to make it a pure horror
- 15:34film. This time he just didn't want to
- 15:36do that again. So he wanted to try and
- 15:39reintroduce some of the camp elements back into the movie,
- 15:43but he thought that going full camp right away would not be a
- 15:48good idea. So he needed to tone it down a
- 15:50little bit. And the scene that he references
- 15:53the most is like a way that he did.
- 15:54That is the scene where Tiffany comes in and speaks with Nika
- 16:00and Dr. Foley. He said, like you, you look at
- 16:05her and she's dressed like a not normal person.
- 16:08You could tell there's something over the top about her, but you
- 16:10needed to ground it just a little bit to make it still not
- 16:14super campy. It's like, to the point to where
- 16:17I guess, like Seed at Chucky levels, where that kind of
- 16:20scared away a lot of the fan base.
- 16:21Yeah. So that makes sense.
- 16:23Yeah. They walked like a tight little
- 16:24balance with that right there. He felt like kept keeping the
- 16:28characters and actors is a good way of adding a bit of like
- 16:33emotional depth to the storyline.
- 16:36Well, cuz we want to know what happens with Nika and it was
- 16:39also nice to find out what happens with Andy.
- 16:41Yeah, it's nice that they're introducing new characters, but
- 16:44keeping the characters from the original.
- 16:46And I was reading an interview and he was talking about how a
- 16:49lot of franchises don't really do that.
- 16:50They just kind of bounce on to the next thing over and over
- 16:53again. But this one right here is one
- 16:54of the few franchises that has like a consistent continuity.
- 16:58It's I'd say it's either it's this and saw they're both really
- 17:02good about it. And I guess Scream.
- 17:03Yeah, but yeah, it's not something you see too often.
- 17:06But this one right here, they have a thing where they are
- 17:09keeping actors from the original movies, too.
- 17:12So like, even child Andy, like little Alex Vincent, is now
- 17:15playing grown Andy. Yeah, same with Christine Elise.
- 17:19Yeah, and he kind of, I think one of the reasons that that's
- 17:22going on is he was talking about how like back when he would
- 17:25watch Bewitched, he was always frustrated that they like
- 17:28recasted Darren in that show. So he didn't want that to be a
- 17:32thing that you get attached to the people playing the
- 17:35characters too. So when you see them, you kind
- 17:37of have that nostalgia and you know, you tie it all into the
- 17:41person and the character all together.
- 17:43Slightly different era here, but I always think of the different
- 17:46Ant vivs in the Cosby Show or the different Becky's and
- 17:49Roseanne. Yeah, I didn't watch any of
- 17:52those shows, but and I didn't watch B watch TV.
- 17:55But you know what, I'll take everybody's word for it here.
- 17:58It's kind of nice seeing these characters come back at least.
- 18:01So no surprise they had to reduce budget compared to back
- 18:05in the day. So before they were using full
- 18:07blown animatronics back on like Seed of Chucky and Bride.
- 18:11So it was pretty advanced technology.
- 18:13But now they're not really able to do that so much.
- 18:16Yeah. They're not doing the things
- 18:18where they have the elevated force where they can do the
- 18:21puppetry underneath. So for this movie, Tony Gardner
- 18:24in this scene basically did full on full puppetry like above.
- 18:29Oh. Like marionettes?
- 18:33Not always, but I think some of it's like having a rigged to,
- 18:37they are able to do that more now than they were back then
- 18:41because they were able to use modern technology to like remove
- 18:44the wires and stuff. So even though we took a hit
- 18:48with the special effects, with the animatronics no longer
- 18:51really being a thing, we at least have, you know, puppetry
- 18:55and modern technology being able to make that a thing that they
- 18:57could do. Don Mancini always wanted to
- 19:00have multiple chuckies in the series as far back as Child's
- 19:03Play 3, but budget constraints back then we're also thing
- 19:07prohibiting that. So they were able to get it
- 19:11going this time around. And it was actually a studio
- 19:13exec that suggested that they have subtle differences to be
- 19:16able to differentiate, differentiate, differentiate
- 19:20them. Thank you.
- 19:21Oh my God, so they actually came up with nicknames with all of
- 19:26the different chuckies. I wonder what their nicknames
- 19:29are cuz I was giving them nicknames in my notes.
- 19:32So, OK, and I don't know which one's which.
- 19:35So let's figure out if we can figure out which one's which.
- 19:38This one's obvious first one buzz cut.
- 19:41OK I called him mullet cuz it was like.
- 19:43Yeah, Mullet. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he was the
- 19:44same thing. Mullet.
- 19:45Chucky in my notes. Second one Ragamuffin.
- 19:49I think that's the one that gets buried because I didn't
- 19:52differentiate them because for a while he was with Madeline, so I
- 19:56didn't really have to differentiate in my notes.
- 19:58But it was after he like came out of the grave that I referred
- 20:02to him as what did I? I might have just referred to
- 20:06him as Burial Chucky. What does ragamuffin mean?
- 20:13Usually I've always heard it in context of like a child outside
- 20:17playing messy, carefree. They're kind of dirty.
- 20:20Yeah. It's totally think of like our
- 20:21nieces and nephews after they've been running around.
- 20:24Or Italian when she goes out in like a rainy day.
- 20:26Yeah, little ragamuffins. Little ragamuffin puppy.
- 20:28All right. Well, I guess that leaves this
- 20:31one pretty obvious. So Edwardian is the other one.
- 20:38I guess that is probably the one that Andy kept alive.
- 20:44No, I think that's cuz there were three chuckies running
- 20:47around at the end. Hold on, the one Andy kept.
- 20:49You got four names here. I got another name after this,
- 20:52and I know which one this one is.
- 20:53OK, Chucky. It can be Nikka.
- 20:56It's gotta be that Chucky. I feel like that's referring to.
- 21:02Well, listen, it's something more historical that I just
- 21:05don't know. I've heard the term, but I
- 21:07couldn't explain it to you, so I sure.
- 21:10OK, well, we'd have to look it up.
- 21:11I feel stupid right now and I don't like feeling stupid.
- 21:14Hold on, I'm editing so I'll be able to.
- 21:16I don't mind what Edwardian means.
- 21:18OK. Yeah.
- 21:19OK. These definitions are not really
- 21:23helpful relating to or a characteristic of the reign of
- 21:28King Edward the 7th or a person who lived during the Edwardian
- 21:34period is the definition I. Got very tautological.
- 21:37Let's look up King Edward the 7th.
- 21:40Here, here, this is something else here of relating to or
- 21:44characteristic of Edward the 7th of England or his age,
- 21:47especially of clothing marked by the hourglass silhouette of for
- 21:50women and long narrow fitted suits and high collars for men.
- 21:55I still feel like they're still doesn't really help.
- 21:58Yeah, I don't really know why would they call them this.
- 22:02I'm looking at pictures of Edwardian shit and it's just
- 22:05like old pictures. Hold on, Edwardian Chucky.
- 22:09I'm gonna Google search that. OK.
- 22:12You got something? Edwardian area, which covered
- 22:15Edward's reign. It was named after him,
- 22:17coincided with the start of a new century, inherited
- 22:19significant changes in technology and society.
- 22:22You think that could be the new Chucky doll that they did?
- 22:25I think yes, cuz I think it's the one that like went and
- 22:28discovered the new. Yeah, the one that very simple.
- 22:31Trades, Yeah, yeah, I think because, yeah, like he's
- 22:34introducing the new like era of the Chucky franchise.
- 22:39That makes sense. That's deep.
- 22:40Maybe, I don't know, we might be overthinking this.
- 22:43Maybe we just missed a costume changers.
- 22:45All right, let's bring it down to something dumb and easy that
- 22:48we'll. Get OK.
- 22:49The final Chucky was Evil Dead Chucky, and it's because he had
- 22:52the drill attached to his arm. Yeah.
- 22:55So, yeah. All right.
- 22:57And finally, there were, if you were thinking about it,
- 23:01references to Glenn and Glenda in the original movie.
- 23:05However, it got cut despite Don Nancy wanting them to be a part
- 23:09of the movie. It must have been a studio
- 23:11decision. So I get the impression that
- 23:16they were really, really pushing to just get away from that
- 23:19because it it sounded like it kind of almost killed the
- 23:22franchise. But also like it did feel like
- 23:26weird to not have Glenn and Glenda mentioned.
- 23:29Especially whenever, like, Tiffany was talking about Alice,
- 23:33like, you know, it was kind of nice having a kid around.
- 23:36Yeah, you guys have kids. Yeah, and she even makes
- 23:40reference to the fact that she is still canonically in Jennifer
- 23:45Tilley's body. Yeah, exactly.
- 23:46So it, it felt really weird to just straight up admit that,
- 23:51even though you're referencing everything else surrounding that
- 23:54whole thing. So yeah, I don't know.
- 23:56They just, you know, I'm glad that Glenn and Glenda do.
- 24:00They do return in the show if anybody's curious, but yeah,
- 24:04it's just really weird to have it left out of this right here.
- 24:07OK, so OK, that's it for my fun facts.
- 24:10All right, all right. All right, so let's kick it off
- 24:13with their good, bad, ugly, and absurd.
- 24:16So Jesse, what did you think was good about this movie?
- 24:19I love the concept of multiple chuckies because fuck I never
- 24:23looked up voodoo facts. Sorry y'all.
- 24:26Man, I forgot that that was when you OK whatever.
- 24:29I, I, it's, we've been really busy all weekend, and I fell
- 24:33asleep and just woke up a few minutes ago, and now we're
- 24:35recording. Sorry.
- 24:37That's OK. So this felt like the natural
- 24:40course for how this should go. Because what do you do?
- 24:42Like, we've done everything we can with Chucky to make him a
- 24:45threat. You know, we've shown what he
- 24:46can survive. We've shown how he sneaks
- 24:51around. We've shown him in different
- 24:53settings. Like, what else are you gonna do
- 24:54to keep upping the ante? Because that's what you have to
- 24:56do in storytelling. Like, how do you keep making him
- 24:59more of a threat? Oh, let's make a bunch of them.
- 25:02And let's introduce this idea of, like, OK, God, which one is
- 25:07the bad guy? Oh, just kidding.
- 25:09They're all the bad guy. Yeah.
- 25:10Yeah. And I think that was a really
- 25:12clever way to do it, especially in the beginning.
- 25:14Like, we've got these two Chucky dolls.
- 25:16Nick is trying to figure out which one's the evil 1, and I
- 25:19just love the twist being that they're all the evil 1 and even
- 25:23if they come in and they're neutral, they can become evil.
- 25:26I like that, too. Yeah.
- 25:27And you kind of think for a second whenever Andy sends the
- 25:30one in, like, oh, is there something?
- 25:31Did he do something? Did he learn voodoo?
- 25:34I mean, because canonically, it's easy to learn in this
- 25:36franchise. They have a Voodoo For Dummies
- 25:37website at. This point, yeah, you don't even
- 25:39have to buy the big thick telephone book looking thing.
- 25:43You can become a voodoo expert just like that.
- 25:45So I thought, you know, maybe, oh, is Andy, did he put himself
- 25:49in a Chucky doll? Like, I don't know.
- 25:50It would have been interesting. That could be interesting maybe.
- 25:55I I don't know if I'd like that corruption of Andy's character.
- 25:59No, no. So you'd rather him be a gun
- 26:03tone Second Amendment 11 mofo? He's not a set.
- 26:06He's very moderate about the Second Amendment.
- 26:08He still believes in waiting periods and background checks.
- 26:11I just love that's how we open this movie.
- 26:13I say, Oh, so you like the Second Amendment?
- 26:15Don't you Like Jesus? I'm just here having a a date
- 26:19and some wine with you. OK.
- 26:20You got anything else? I just, you know, I that's,
- 26:25that's what I think really works about this movie for me.
- 26:27Like, you know, we already talked about having the
- 26:29returning cast and returning characters helps a lot with it,
- 26:36you know, and you've got sinister plot lines on the side
- 26:39as well with Doctor Foley. He's a fucking creep and that
- 26:42guy just gets typecast. If you're wondering where he
- 26:45looks familiar, he's the creepy professor slash lawyer who hits
- 26:50on Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. So.
- 26:52Yeah, Jesse is just. Apparently his fucking bag.
- 26:57He's re cast in the show too, but as a good guy.
- 27:00Yeah. Not a good guy, but you know, a
- 27:02good person. So I just, I don't know, I think
- 27:06it's A and it's very stylistic too, because part of me wants to
- 27:11be like, there's no way that there's only like 5 patients in
- 27:14this whole place. I didn't even think about that.
- 27:17But we have these like beautiful, creepy, just bright
- 27:20white walls, and it's a whole aesthetic.
- 27:23And there's one scene, even like, as upsetting as the scene
- 27:25is when Foley is hypnotizing Nika, that the way the flashes
- 27:29of light are happening and the music is happening and his
- 27:32monologuing over top of it, it is so chilling just in and of
- 27:38itself. And I think it was really well
- 27:40done. I think it was very good
- 27:41directing on Don Mancini's part. Yeah, I feel like you can see
- 27:46his progression as a director as far like, he started with Seed
- 27:50of Chucky and you know, then he didn't do a bad job, but I feel
- 27:53like he's really like, by this one, he's kind of gotten to
- 27:56where he's feeling more comfortable, I feel.
- 27:58And I do think that he definitely struck a good balance
- 28:01between horror and camp in this one.
- 28:03The camp is there. It's very much alive and well,
- 28:05which I feel like I generally like in the franchise.
- 28:09I I mean, it's about a killer doll.
- 28:12Let's let's just lean into that. You know what I mean?
- 28:15But I like we do have some of those genuine and scary moments.
- 28:18So I think that that's all really, really well done.
- 28:24OK, yeah, one of the things that I had too was how they handled
- 28:28the multiple chuckies. The idea itself is cool, but I
- 28:32love the way that it was executed.
- 28:34I do like having them all be like a little bit different
- 28:38because it is nice, you know, visually, personality wise, I
- 28:40think that they're all pretty consistent though.
- 28:42Like it was really funny. Like I like seeing him having
- 28:45like more of him to play off on. My favorite scene in the movie
- 28:49is whenever all three of them are together.
- 28:51Yes. And they like, I love the moment
- 28:54of them arguing over who gets to kill Andy.
- 28:56And they're talking about who had the worst day.
- 28:58And he goes hello. And they're like, yes,
- 29:00absolutely. You're correct.
- 29:02You've been through enough. My favorite part from that, I
- 29:04was like, Oh my God, this is the most fun I've had in my entire
- 29:06life. And then the other ones like
- 29:08you've only been alive for 2 1/2 minutes and they all laugh at
- 29:11him and then he's like laughing at himself too.
- 29:14Like it's just so cool. I love it so much.
- 29:17I I really do feel like they had some interesting and creative
- 29:20kills this time too. Kind of like what you said
- 29:22before with how you could tell that Chucky still learned how to
- 29:25be more creative with this kills.
- 29:27That's still the case with this one right here, that death with
- 29:30Claire where the compressed air shoots up into the sky mirror
- 29:35and it just or skylight and it just shatters on top of her.
- 29:38That was really, really creative.
- 29:40I liked that one. I was just.
- 29:41Saying skylight. I've been struggling since we
- 29:43watched it to remember the term I wrote Ceiling window.
- 29:46I knew there was an actual word for it.
- 29:48Yeah, skylight. That's it.
- 29:50Yep. And I I like the the setting of
- 29:54this too. I think it's cool having it in a
- 29:56snowy place. It's it's fitting for the time
- 29:58of year that we're watching and talking about this.
- 30:01And I always like it when you take these movies and you mess
- 30:06around with the seasons with them when you can.
- 30:08You know what I mean? Like.
- 30:09Again, we've got that like aesthetic essence that's
- 30:12happening in this. So like that snow constantly
- 30:14falling. It's a motif throughout the
- 30:16movie and it looks really pretty.
- 30:19It's just like it. It has a visual impact.
- 30:22Yeah, it really does. It like really has an influence
- 30:25on how you feel like the response you have to everything
- 30:28happening and the like the last movie, I feel like the puppetry
- 30:33and animatronics or the designs were a little bit weak, but I
- 30:37feel like they corrected that this time around.
- 30:40The first Chucky that we get still a little off compared to
- 30:45the original Chucky, but they made steps in the right
- 30:48direction. I think it's mostly whenever
- 30:51he's active, whenever it's a normal good guy doll, it goes
- 30:55back to being the classic good guy doll look.
- 30:57But as soon as he starts moving his eyes, like the facial
- 31:00structure is way different than what it used to be, but they did
- 31:04a good job with it. The puppetry was really good.
- 31:07Everything came out looking really good in this.
- 31:09So I'm I'm impressed. It was it was a step in the
- 31:11right direction. All right, so bad stuff.
- 31:15What'd you not like? I think most of the things that
- 31:18I would peg is bad are really more bad because they kind of
- 31:20like hit my ugly sensor. You know, I do think that there
- 31:25are some like things that like are just general inaccuracies,
- 31:29like again, how empty the hospital is.
- 31:32And I'm sure that's a budget thing and it's an aesthetic
- 31:34thing. The fact that there's not enough
- 31:36staff, you wouldn't just have two staff.
- 31:40Two orderlies in Carlos. Yeah, like you wouldn't just
- 31:43have two people that rotate plus Carlos.
- 31:46Like, that doesn't make any sense.
- 31:47And especially like things where somebody is on suicide watch,
- 31:51generally, that's like you've got different levels with that.
- 31:55So there would be different levels of like, supervision
- 31:59happening, which you can't do if you've only got one person
- 32:02there. And also the fucking Sharp store
- 32:06not being locked. Yeah, like not only not locked,
- 32:09but very clearly labeled and unlocked.
- 32:11That's bananas. So just like little things like
- 32:16that that, you know, pick up to me where I'm like, this is very
- 32:19much a movie made by somebody who didn't like really research
- 32:23the setting, which I whatever the setting was only it it it
- 32:27wasn't critical to the overall story of the movie, these things
- 32:33that I was seeing, you know, like, is it just more like kind
- 32:37of nitpick to me? Yeah, these are the type of
- 32:40problems that you always run into with movies and settings
- 32:43like this. Anytime you take it to a
- 32:44hospital of any kind, like Halloween to, that's what a lot
- 32:48of people say Scream for. Jill's just going on a fucking
- 32:51like rampage through the hospital at the end of the
- 32:53movie, going towards Sydney and all that.
- 32:57So yeah, that's a legitimate criticism.
- 32:59My bad stuff for this. I hate to say it because I like
- 33:03it at the same time, but bringing Alex Vinson back for
- 33:07Andy, I mean, I'm sorry, but he he worked as a child actor, but
- 33:11as an adult actor, I don't think he quite has the chops anymore
- 33:15to do it. His acting was a little bit
- 33:17subpar. I kind of felt him trying to get
- 33:22back into the play, like he jumped from being seven years
- 33:26old in Child's Play to to now he's playing a full grown adult.
- 33:31So he kind of had to channel all of that and I could feel him
- 33:35trying to get his bearings with it.
- 33:38Yeah, and I, I haven't looked at his stuff enough to really know
- 33:43if he kept up acting between those movies and now.
- 33:48But yeah, I'm, I just, you know, it is what it is.
- 33:53But it's cool to see Alex Vinson actually be able to reprise that
- 33:57role. It's not the most important
- 33:59thing for it to be able to like, knock it out.
- 34:01But any time that he was on screen acting, I could tell that
- 34:06there was a noticeable drop in quality compared to the rest of
- 34:10the cast. Like when you have people like
- 34:11Fiona who are out there acting the way they are.
- 34:15Yeah, and again, I don't know if it's an acting thing with him so
- 34:18much as like this specific character, like trying to find
- 34:20him as an adult, you know? It could be, but it's a
- 34:23consistent thing, OK, even into the TV series for me.
- 34:28I disagree, but I respect where you're coming from with that.
- 34:31And the other thing I have is his whole thing in this movie.
- 34:37Andy's that is. What does it add to the story?
- 34:41It's basically a Side Story that ultimately amounts to nothing
- 34:46because even at the point at the end of the movie when he makes
- 34:48it to the hospital, to the like a asylum, all it amounts to is
- 34:54him getting locked up in there at the end of it.
- 34:57And he really has no encounter with the main characters.
- 35:00Like he encounters a Chucky but it's a brief encounter.
- 35:04No, I am definitely going to disagree with you on this
- 35:06because it raises the stakes because you think he's going to
- 35:08get there in time to save Nikka and it doesn't happen.
- 35:11I mean, you can argue that with most things in in a mood, like
- 35:14what is the point? Like ultimately when you do
- 35:16that, you get down to what is the point of a movie in the
- 35:18first place? I guess, but he was just kind of
- 35:21sidelined the entire time and he didn't really do much.
- 35:23I guess he introduced the third Chucky.
- 35:26He introduced the third Chucky or I guess technically 4th
- 35:30Chucky, but also he, like I said, he created that element of
- 35:35like, oh, is this somebody that's going to be able to save
- 35:38Nika? Like, and I also think that if
- 35:41he wasn't here, we'd be saying, well, didn't we talk about how
- 35:45Andy, you know, proclaimed all these years that his doll
- 35:49committed these murders? We saw him at the end of Curse
- 35:52of Chucky. Why wouldn't he be saying
- 35:55something? I feel like if he wasn't here,
- 35:56we'd be asking these questions. I guess but he was barely like.
- 36:00I mean, if you didn't stick around till after the credits of
- 36:03the last movie, you wouldn't even know that he was still
- 36:06present. Plus, I also think when you
- 36:08think of this in terms of the entire series, not just a
- 36:11continuation from the last movie, it it brings back up, you
- 36:14know, his storyline, like where would he be nowadays?
- 36:18So I think in terms of like overall ARC, it works.
- 36:23OK, well that's fine I guess if it works for you.
- 36:29I just was thinking the entire time like what's the point?
- 36:32OK. OK, let's move on to ugly.
- 36:35OK, well, obviously Doctor Foley, that fucking creep.
- 36:38Yeah, everything about him. ECT doesn't really work like
- 36:42that anymore. The orderliest that we're
- 36:44performing the ECT on her, just calling her a pincushion.
- 36:47That's fucking rude. She's conscious and can hear
- 36:50you. I feel like we should specify
- 36:52ECT is electrotherapy. Yeah.
- 36:54Yeah, for anybody not aware. It like the way they just like
- 37:00call Malcolm multiple Malcolm. That's that's just it's a harsh
- 37:05nickname and reducing him to his diagnosis.
- 37:08I don't like stuff like that. And I, I think also like we
- 37:13could probably go into the analysis of the diagnosis that
- 37:17they've been given and how it's portrayed on screen.
- 37:20But we'll, we'll save that. Yeah, I was gonna say it like.
- 37:23I feel like that would be a whole other podcast.
- 37:25I feel like a lot of the things on here were like super
- 37:28stereotypical portrayals of these diseases, much depth.
- 37:36It's just like, oh, here's the thing that defines that thing.
- 37:39So let's make them, let's Max them out on those traits and
- 37:42nothing else. Yeah.
- 37:45DID is very rare and it isn't just going to be like assuming
- 37:50you're a famous person in different states like it.
- 37:55The same thing with the schizophrenic.
- 37:56Patient. Yeah, like, I mean, I don't who
- 38:00what do I know, but I wouldn't imagine under the care of
- 38:03professionals that she would be having episodes that severe.
- 38:06Well, and especially if she's. It's not just that they're in a
- 38:09hospital, they're in like a psychiatric inmate facility.
- 38:13So they probably would be on court ordered medications.
- 38:18Exactly, that's what I'm saying. And medication.
- 38:19Like is, I mean, it helps with schizophrenia.
- 38:22You're not gonna be it. Does wonders for schizophrenia
- 38:25to the point that people with schizophrenia will be like,
- 38:28cool, don't need to take my meds anymore.
- 38:31That's why it's such a cyclical disease and that's why they come
- 38:33out with these long lasting shots.
- 38:35Yeah. So that's probably.
- 38:37The the ugly thing that I would say for this, I guess you could
- 38:39even throw it in with the bad. But yeah, the portrayal of these
- 38:43these diseases were kind of exaggerated.
- 38:46Yes, very, very. Hollywood effect, Yeah.
- 38:51OK then. Absurd.
- 38:53Oh, definitely. The the multiple chuckies at the
- 38:56end, their little conversations, and I mean absurd in the yes
- 39:01with. It like.
- 39:02I genuinely laughed. Out and they were all just
- 39:06laughing at each other and and even.
- 39:09More absurd than that is the fact that the Chuckies are so
- 39:13precious about their hair. Hello.
- 39:16Have you seen what you're sporting up top?
- 39:19It's not like you're taking the best care of your hair.
- 39:23It's like those people. That you can tell which decade
- 39:27they thrived in. And then you see like, oh, that
- 39:31person had a great time in the 70s because they are still
- 39:34rocking that style well and like also.
- 39:37People that take a lot of pride in how long their hair is.
- 39:41And this is not taking into like a cultural or religious stuff.
- 39:45This is purely aesthetic. But like the people that are
- 39:47like, my hair is super long and I'm super proud of it.
- 39:50But it's like, girl, boy, they, them, whatever you prefer, Yeah.
- 39:55You. Have all kinds of split ends.
- 39:57You need to take care of that shit so you have long.
- 40:01And healthy hair. And that's like Chucky is one of
- 40:04those. I was like, look how long my
- 40:06hair is and it's like, OK, but can we maybe get some
- 40:09conditioner up here and up in here?
- 40:11I like the buzz cut mullet. Chucky.
- 40:13I thought it did. Wonders for his facial
- 40:16structures. He did Tyra Banks, Mia Farah in
- 40:21Rosemary's Baby. I'm just a.
- 40:24Supporter of mullets, you know I'm here for you.
- 40:27Give me a like a true party, like a Joe Dirt Chucky mullet
- 40:31right there. You know, I would like to see
- 40:33that and I like that they do. Have fun with the hair in the
- 40:37series too. Yeah, they do, yeah.
- 40:40My absurd for this is that they fucking sell these chuckies at
- 40:46Hot topic in this universe and you know that also can be thrown
- 40:51into the ugly because these are dolls that are like have a whole
- 40:55history of them being related to like horrific murders.
- 40:58I don't think that they should be like mass produced and sold
- 41:01in fucking hot topic of all places.
- 41:04Can I also add the? Statistics on how rare different
- 41:06good guy dolls are like for Yeah. 2% of them were named
- 41:11Chucky. That's like, that's insane.
- 41:14Yeah, a nerd. I.
- 41:16Wish I wish they could have thrown out a NECA collectibles
- 41:21and then we could have like a whole like Avid and Costello
- 41:24type bit of like NECA Nico Nico Yeah, that would be.
- 41:28Funny, Nico. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:30See, I just confused myself. So they could have had fun with
- 41:33that. I mean, right now I.
- 41:34Mean they couldn't. Is it?
- 41:36Is it NECA? Or Nico.
- 41:37It's Neca. Nika in the C.
- 41:40CAI. Believe that?
- 41:42See. Yeah.
- 41:43I just it and this is what fucks with me like as a human person
- 41:47is because of Nika, the character fans of.
- 41:51Fans of these figures are probably screaming at us.
- 41:54I know. Probably.
- 41:55Both. Oh, I know some of them are our
- 41:57friends too. That listen to this.
- 41:59I'm sorry. Please don't come for us.
- 42:01I read a lot of words, but I don't say a lot of words out
- 42:04loud. Yeah.
- 42:06The other one that I had is Chucky's conflicted feelings
- 42:12towards Doctor Foley, because. Like every time he like kill.
- 42:17This guy like take. Notes.
- 42:18Yeah, he's just like keep and it happens the same way each time.
- 42:21Like it's always in his office and he always bashes him in the
- 42:24head with a glass. He's like, I don't really feel
- 42:26like killing him yet because like I'm just, I don't know what
- 42:29to do right now. This is and again this.
- 42:31Is one of those things that I really love in horror movies,
- 42:34one of those tropes, the honor among thieves type things where
- 42:37even bad guys are like, hey, man, you're crossing a line.
- 42:40Yeah. Like I I love that trope.
- 42:43So I'm glad that they're playing with it.
- 42:46Yeah. The way that is really funny
- 42:48because Chucky does mostly reprehensible things.
- 42:50So yeah, like this person that's like.
- 42:52So comically like I am a. Canonical child murderer.
- 42:57Yeah, even this. Is too much.
- 42:59What the fuck, dude? Yeah, but maybe.
- 43:03Yeah, I mean. Like that it just gives them
- 43:06something to actually think about.
- 43:08OK, what are you rating this? Oh, I'd say this is an 8.
- 43:11And a half OK, this is a very solid movie and like I said, a
- 43:14lot of these are just nitpicks on my end.
- 43:18Just the the psychology degrees in me can't let some of that
- 43:23stuff go. Yeah, I agree.
- 43:24I think that. This one, I like this one better
- 43:26than curse. I do.
- 43:28Yeah, it's. It's really good.
- 43:30This is actually I think our second time watching it.
- 43:33Or third maybe, I can't remember.
- 43:36We haven't watched it very much. We haven't watched it very much.
- 43:39Because we tend to stick to the like original, yeah, but it made
- 43:43me. Forget like, yeah, these are
- 43:44actually really solid. So yeah, I'm gonna give it an 8.
- 43:47All right, so 8.2. Five starting average and I feel
- 43:51really good about that. Cool.
- 43:53All right, so are we. Ready to discuss?
- 43:55I believe we are all. Right.
- 43:58OK, so this fee starts off very politically charged because it
- 44:04starts off like we just hear off screen voice saying like how the
- 44:09Second Amendment needs to be repealed and Andy is arguing
- 44:13again. I'm just going to say it's a
- 44:14very moderate point, you know, saying like I I think it makes
- 44:18sense to have guns for self protection if that's the thing
- 44:21that you want. But I'm still in support of
- 44:23waiting periods, background checks, and a limitation to the
- 44:26type of guns you can have. I personally think it would be.
- 44:29Hilarious if Andy turned out to be like this gun loving, like
- 44:34super like, like terrible person.
- 44:37I just like all that trauma from Chuck.
- 44:39He's like, oh fuck yeah, like he he's almost like a Bert Gomer
- 44:42type person. But as it stands.
- 44:44Like I think this version of Chucky, it's definitely has like
- 44:48a locked gun safe. That means yes.
- 44:52This. Version of Andy has unlocked gun
- 44:55safe you know what I mean Like he he stands by which what are
- 44:58you saying yeah absolutely yeah he's.
- 44:59Making very rational points. And then his date starts asking
- 45:04about just like, more personal. She's like prying a little bit
- 45:08about him. And then he's like, you Googled
- 45:10me. You Googled.
- 45:11And she's like, yeah. So why didn't you tell me about
- 45:13all this shit? I mean, honestly, how do you
- 45:15tell people? I mean, everybody probably
- 45:17already knows by the time you tell them who you are.
- 45:20I mean, it was a long. Time before I dumped my
- 45:22childhood trauma on you. That's true it.
- 45:26Seems like there may be. On a second or third date, yeah,
- 45:30I guess that's true. It's a nice.
- 45:31Restaurant too. Yeah, it's just over there, you
- 45:34know, It keeps uncomfortably just sipping his wine.
- 45:37Yeah, I love. It I I.
- 45:39Like that, like he's like. I don't know what else to say,
- 45:41so I'm just going to drink my wine.
- 45:43Roll myself busy Hard yes? Like that's one.
- 45:47That's my favorite. Trick anytime you're at like a
- 45:49social event, keep a drink on him and the bonus for.
- 45:52That is that it makes me very loose with my lips.
- 45:54So I started talking to people very quickly.
- 45:57Yeah. So pro tip, you don't even need
- 45:59to be. Alcoholic for me, like I just
- 46:01like being able to take breaks. Like I can't talk right now
- 46:03because I've got water in my SO, yeah.
- 46:07It's so easy. Yeah, it's such.
- 46:08An easy out cuz you're Travis. Pro tip everybody he goes back
- 46:13to. A cabin that has to have been
- 46:15furnished from the grandpa and the lost boys.
- 46:18My God, all the taxidermy man, it's just.
- 46:21A running thing in all of these horror movies?
- 46:24Yeah, it's like horror. Directors were like, you know
- 46:26what's fucking scary? Taking the carcass of an animal,
- 46:29stuffing it, and mounting it on your wall.
- 46:31That's serial killer behavior. Sorry people in our area of the
- 46:37world it could be like the same. Like art director or like set
- 46:41department or whatever that like doing all the jobs like you know
- 46:44what this needs? It needs more taxidermy.
- 46:46Like let me go get some. So.
- 46:50He has, I love this is a nice little call back to Child's
- 46:54Play. Three, he has his secret vault
- 46:56behind his Kent Academy sweater. That was cool.
- 47:00Yeah. And then behind that, he opens
- 47:02it up and he's got Chucky from the Curse of Chucky ending where
- 47:06he got blown to bits. It's just his head kind of
- 47:09stitched together. Yeah.
- 47:11And he's kind of mounted. And he's taking a lot of damage.
- 47:13Apparently this is what Andy does when he's having a bad day.
- 47:16I wrote that this is his own version of Hide the Soul.
- 47:19Yeah. Cracks of ear lights a.
- 47:22Joint let's Chucky take a hit, and as soon as Chucky says
- 47:25something that pisses him off, he's like, all right, blowtorch
- 47:27it is. I love.
- 47:30I love that. I love the scene.
- 47:31Like he just like sparks up a joint and Chucky's like can I
- 47:34take a hit and he lets him. That's so cool.
- 47:36My mom was watching this. With us and she's like, but he
- 47:39does. And I know she was gonna say
- 47:40doesn't have lungs and I was like butter off.
- 47:42She was like you. Have to ignore the metaphysics
- 47:45of. This movie like but and you're.
- 47:47Like just don't. Just just roll with it.
- 47:49This. Is her very first child's.
- 47:51Play movie that she watched, she's listened to all of the.
- 47:53Episodes cuz she's a good mom but she was like I've never
- 47:57actually watched these honestly yeah in this Chucky this.
- 48:01Is probably the most amazing bit of puppetry that they did the
- 48:07entire movie The way that this thing moves, it's really, really
- 48:10well done but yeah and I like him saying that we're.
- 48:14Friends to the end, right? And it kind of feels like he's
- 48:16very much resigned to his fate of, like, trying to track down
- 48:21Chucky and make sure he can't be evil anymore.
- 48:24Yeah, He's like, I'll just keep Chucky here.
- 48:25And just, like, fuck with him now.
- 48:26Yeah. So yeah, he's just torturing
- 48:28him. It's really fucked up.
- 48:30All right, so we cut. Tanika having ECT done and the
- 48:35text being very gross. Yeah.
- 48:37They're just like, yeah. They're like, I thought you said
- 48:39she was paralyzed and yeah, she is.
- 48:40So they go over and take a pin and, like, prick her feet and
- 48:43like, see, she's just a pincushion down below.
- 48:45Fucking rude. Yeah.
- 48:48Then we cut to her talking with Doctor Foley about the
- 48:50nightmares she has and he's like, but it wasn't Chucky that
- 48:55did those murders. She's like no it was me.
- 48:57Chucky was a mask I wore to be able to live with myself.
- 49:02We found out it's been 4 years and she's done a lot of work
- 49:06with him, so she's being transferred to Harrogate, which
- 49:10is a medium security facility, so she'll have a little bit more
- 49:14freedom while she's there. Yeah, and they've also
- 49:17diagnosed. Her schizophrenic as well.
- 49:20They just, they love that diagnosis.
- 49:22And I know that we're specifically in a setting where
- 49:26it's like a psychiatric prison. Yeah, like I get that, but I
- 49:32also hate like mental illness being the like and I'll be all
- 49:37of why people commit murder. Like it just not that it can't
- 49:42be a component, but it's not like both necessary and
- 49:47sufficient. I feel like these things we have
- 49:49to. Also put ourselves like, take
- 49:51ourselves out of this for a moment and recognize like, oh,
- 49:54these people don't know all this shit.
- 49:57Most people, if you are like, Oh, yeah, the doll got up and
- 50:00started just stabbing everybody, you would be like, OK, so this
- 50:03person is definitely mentally ill like that.
- 50:06I mean, that seems like a very fair conclusion to come to.
- 50:10Yeah. And I mean she she did.
- 50:11Get an insanity plea, which those aren't as easy to get as a
- 50:15lot of people would think because that is something that a
- 50:18lot of people attempt. I like how they portray that.
- 50:21Accurately in this like it's not a good out jail free card
- 50:25because you're still kind of going to jail.
- 50:26Yeah, it's not a good out of jail free.
- 50:28Card and also he says like you guys have all benefited from an
- 50:30insanity plea, correct like so this is this is just like this
- 50:34is a complex situation because I do think that a lot of times
- 50:38this is how people like like lay people tend to talk about like
- 50:42mental and it's like, oh, they're schizophrenic, they're
- 50:44dangerous like and that's not even close to reality.
- 50:49But it doesn't help when we have like media that portrays this
- 50:53kind of stuff. And while there is definite
- 50:55overlap, like you can't have somebody who is dealing with a
- 50:59very severe psychiatric emergency and does end up
- 51:03causing harm to themselves and or others, but it it's not like
- 51:08a this equals this, it's not going to contributed to.
- 51:11This or. Yeah.
- 51:13Like it's just it's complex. It's not as simple as it
- 51:18sometimes comes across, Right? OK.
- 51:21So she has completed her transfer.
- 51:22She's now at the new facility. She has Carlos, who is like,
- 51:28hey, I'm friendly Carlos, I'm gonna be here.
- 51:30Like, where are you in for? And she's like, this right here
- 51:33is like, don't you're moving too fast.
- 51:36I'm not gonna be friends with you here.
- 51:37I'm just doing my job. By the way, my husband has.
- 51:40Ms. Yeah, Like, which one is it? Carlos, Are you nice?
- 51:44Are you cool? Like, are you just gonna be an
- 51:45asshole? Like he's like, so confusing in
- 51:47this moment here. And he leaves some gum for.
- 51:50Her even more confusing like I'm not gonna.
- 51:52Be a friend. Here's some gum.
- 51:55OK, he says. Like, his husband's in a
- 51:57wheelchair and he doesn't let that, like, stop him from living
- 52:00his life. And I'm like, I don't think it's
- 52:01the wheelchair that's stopping Nico from living her life at
- 52:03this point. I think it's the fact that she's
- 52:05in jail. Read the fucking room, Carlos.
- 52:08This guy kind of a dummy. He's trying.
- 52:12His This can't be an easy job. It's like he's like fighting
- 52:15with. Himself, he's like, here's a new
- 52:16person. Oh, man.
- 52:18Hi, it's nice to meet you. I'm not going to be a friend.
- 52:20Like he has to remind us. I was like, we can't be friends.
- 52:22We can't be friends. But here's some gum.
- 52:23Here's some gum. Here's some gum.
- 52:24My husband. My husband.
- 52:25Nope. But I can't.
- 52:26No. You gotta live your life.
- 52:28I'm sorry. Bye, bye.
- 52:31It's so confusing. So she is.
- 52:33Looking around the facility, she runs into a woman.
- 52:36Her name is Angela. And she said you can see me.
- 52:39And she's like, yeah. And she's like, all right, Don't
- 52:42be alarmed. I died here many years ago.
- 52:45I'm a ghost. No one else can see me.
- 52:47And that's when Michael pops up and he's like, we can all see
- 52:49you, Angela. And she kind of wanders off.
- 52:52And he says that she is an in house person, has been there for
- 52:56many, many years. 30 years. Yeah.
- 52:59So he starts striking up a conversation with Nika and he
- 53:03starts off strong. He's like, so are you still in
- 53:06the redheads? Yeah, I wrote.
- 53:08Michael flirts poorly and then my next line says but not too
- 53:12poorly. No, because they as Jesse.
- 53:15Promised we get straight to clowning.
- 53:17Yeah, holy shit, they're just clowning in the hallway.
- 53:20Getting down to clown. It turns.
- 53:22Is just like a Cliff dive. Like, yeah, it didn't.
- 53:26It didn't take much, like, oh, you're in the redheads.
- 53:29And then she gave him Juicy Fruit and I was like, all right,
- 53:31we're fucking yeah. Like that's exactly what
- 53:33happened. Well, Juicy Fruit lasts.
- 53:35All of five seconds. So he needed something to do
- 53:38after that. Maybe he does, too.
- 53:43OK, so they have like, a group therapy.
- 53:46And Claire is immediately hostile.
- 53:48She's like, so why'd you do it? And Doctor Phil is like, hey,
- 53:51let's like or no. Michael says Chucky did it and
- 53:56Nick is like, no, I did it. I had pathological, pathological
- 54:00jealousy of my sister and I was overprotective of my niece who I
- 54:03will never see again and all I can do is hope that she's OK.
- 54:07Did they ever say what queer's? Diagnosis is no, but they did.
- 54:12Reference that she burned down her house.
- 54:14Yeah, with maybe with family in it.
- 54:17Well, she said that. Nobody died with hers.
- 54:21Yeah, that was her distinction. Because he's like, yeah, well,
- 54:23you burned down the house. She's like, well, nobody died in
- 54:26my incident. That sounds like me.
- 54:29Somebody got. Really.
- 54:29Hurt, though, yeah. Technically nobody died.
- 54:33Technically nobody died. Got off on a.
- 54:35Technicality there. Queer.
- 54:36Well done. Yeah, so Angela's like, Oh no,
- 54:41Chucky called me and Alice's not ho gay.
- 54:43And it kind of throws the group into a tizzy.
- 54:47And then Dr. Foley says, I know what will calm the tensions in
- 54:51this group. I will bring out a Chucky doll.
- 54:53Yeah. And then people freak out
- 54:54because it says Chucky. And this is where we get the
- 54:56nerd statistics that 2% of all good guy dolls are chuckies and
- 55:00asked where did you? Get that he says Hot topic.
- 55:04This is stupid and also especially.
- 55:07Because I think it's Spencer's that that's where this one came
- 55:10from. I buy yours off of Spencer's,
- 55:12Yeah, So yeah. He said that this is going to be
- 55:17like a good tool for group therapy because I guess group
- 55:20therapy is all about Nika right now.
- 55:22Except for Madeline. He says this is my baby.
- 55:25Oh yeah. Talia, anytime we bring.
- 55:27Any kind of a stuffed animal in the house, she goes, this is my
- 55:30baby, that's my baby. That's why Jigglypuff.
- 55:32Lives in this. Room where she can't get to her.
- 55:34Can't be No, that's your baby. Where are we at?
- 55:40We learn is trying to feed the baby in.
- 55:42The cafeteria and Claire comes over and she's like, this is not
- 55:46healthy. And she tries to take the doll
- 55:49away. And there's like a whole
- 55:51kerfuffle and they, you know, kind of fight a little bit.
- 55:55And then we discovered that Michael, his last name and his
- 56:01reality is Phelps. And Nika's.
- 56:05Like what? And that's where she finds out
- 56:07his name is actually Malcolm. And Michael Phelps is one of the
- 56:10personalities he has sometimes. I'm going to be honest.
- 56:14This whole thing made it difficult for me to write down
- 56:16his name accurately this entire time because I switched between
- 56:20Michael and Malcolm so many times, I just wrote down
- 56:23whatever he. Was going by at that time,
- 56:25unless he hadn't explicitly said and then he was Malcolm.
- 56:29That's a good way to do that. Nika has a visitor.
- 56:32So she goes, that's one of the perks to medium securities.
- 56:35She can have visitors. So she goes and it is Tiffany
- 56:38Valentine and she's like the name sounds familiar, but you
- 56:41look really familiar. As anybody said, you look just
- 56:43like Jennifer Dillian. She goes, I've heard that a time
- 56:45I do that away and she's like, I am Allison's or I'm Alice's
- 56:50guardian. And she's like, really?
- 56:54Yeah. Cuz if you remember, Alice was
- 56:57supposed to be staying with her grandma who was killed by
- 57:00Chucky. The end of Cursive Chucky One of
- 57:03the five endings to cursive Chucky ended with her having.
- 57:07The voodoo champ being done to her.
- 57:09So is she really dead? Because that's what Tiffany
- 57:13tells her here. She's like, yeah, she's no at
- 57:15the end of this movie. Like, they kind of allude to the
- 57:18fact that while she was possessed by Chucky, one of the
- 57:21victims, like, fought back and that's what happened to her.
- 57:25Yeah, you're right. You're.
- 57:26Right. OK, so, yeah, so.
- 57:28Nikki is finally like OK whatever you look weird as a
- 57:31guardian but how is Alice doing? And she just goes she's dead
- 57:35theory and which that's a camp line in and of itself, like the
- 57:40delivery of this that and the reason she's like.
- 57:42I don't know, but they say it was a broken heart.
- 57:45Yeah. She's like, I'm no doctor, but
- 57:46I. Believe it was a broken heart
- 57:48and even Doctor Foley, monster that he is, is like, dude, you
- 57:53should have told me this. Yeah.
- 57:56I like how he looks so red, Nikka.
- 57:57He's just like, how's she gonna react?
- 57:59He's like he's. Like, is she going to murder?
- 58:04Yeah, maybe. I think he would be one of those
- 58:06guys if like if I broke out, he would get out his cell phone and
- 58:08start recording. If he wouldn't intervene like
- 58:11he's definitely. The type of person that if his
- 58:14on Reddit gets doxxed his entire career is yeah, yeah.
- 58:20So yeah. But she did bring a Chucky doll.
- 58:23It was a gift very similar to what Doctor Foley had in Group
- 58:27therapy. This was used in Alice's
- 58:30therapy, supposedly. Yeah.
- 58:31And they just wanted her to have it because.
- 58:33She thought they would help her with her therapy.
- 58:35And then instead of saying, oh, we already have one, Doctor
- 58:38Foley is like, oh, perfect. Two, we need more trauma 1st.
- 58:43One Nika didn't even get to therapize on it.
- 58:46Well, it's gonna be present in the group.
- 58:47Therapy sessions because it's her baby.
- 58:49So I don't know they were gonna touch on that subject next time.
- 58:53This is like how we have. Multiple cat beds because our
- 58:56cats won't share. That's true.
- 58:58That's true. All right.
- 59:01So. Carlos is at the nurse's.
- 59:03Station with his earbuds in. None of this is safe.
- 59:05Probably breaking all kinds of policy.
- 59:07Whatever it does allow Chucky to go into that unlocked sharps
- 59:12drawer and take a scalpel. And as he is walking down the
- 59:17hall, he stops. He sees Angela and he asks for
- 59:21directions to Nika's room. And then she's like doing her
- 59:26whole ghost bit and he's like, what is what is happening?
- 59:29Why are you doing this? And she goes, oh, you're just,
- 59:32you're not real. I'm just seeing you because I
- 59:34see things sometimes. And he was like, no, I'm a
- 59:37talking vintage toy from the 80s holding a scalpel.
- 59:41He's like, wait, didn't I talk to you on the phone last?
- 59:43I love that because you. Thought this entire time I was
- 59:45like, oh, she was just like, you know, thinking that she'd talked
- 59:48to somebody. But no, she actually did talk to
- 59:50Chucky. How did Chucky get on the phone
- 59:52with her of all people? I assume he's just like.
- 59:55Called the hospital and you can't have these patients just.
- 59:59Picking up random phone calls? That's not how that should work.
- 1:00:02I wonder if they have like a payphone?
- 1:00:03Station type situation, but that still seems bad.
- 1:00:07Those have to generally be transferred.
- 1:00:09I don't know. It's gotta be monitored, yeah.
- 1:00:11You can't let it happen. I liked.
- 1:00:13Before this though. When they're taking the dulcet
- 1:00:16hallway, Doctor Foley was walking through the hallway with
- 1:00:21one Chucky, and then Madeline's walking through the hallway with
- 1:00:23the other Chucky. And then he's like clock's like,
- 1:00:25oh, shit, there's another one in me.
- 1:00:27So he's like, oh, this is perfect.
- 1:00:28I'm going to be able to do this cool thing I learned.
- 1:00:30Yeah. So.
- 1:00:32He's like, listen, I'm going to go to Nika's room, but I'm
- 1:00:35coming for you next. Like I'm yeah, yeah, I like how.
- 1:00:38He's doing this just because he's annoyed.
- 1:00:40Talking to her, yeah. And we see Nika has torn a piece
- 1:00:45of her wheels. Spoke.
- 1:00:47Yeah. And.
- 1:00:49Has cut her wrist. It's a bottle of blood sitting
- 1:00:52there. She's been bleeding out for a
- 1:00:54little bit already and the next morning.
- 1:00:56Carlos walks into her room and wakes her up and she wakes up
- 1:01:00and she appears very confused and she looks down.
- 1:01:04The blood has a note that says not so fast and her arm has been
- 1:01:07very crudely stitched very similar to Chucky's facial
- 1:01:11stitches and she is trying to figure out how to avoid Carlos
- 1:01:18seeing that puddle of blood when a code blue is called and it
- 1:01:20turns out Angela is dead and she also had a cut to her wrist from
- 1:01:26that wheel spoke and the note in the blood says Chucky did it.
- 1:01:32We see a YouTube video that was recorded and posted by Andy.
- 1:01:37Was it YouTube? Why would he put that on
- 1:01:39YouTube? How did he get the video?
- 1:01:41Yeah. What is this?
- 1:01:42This is. This is not.
- 1:01:43This doesn't make any sense. Yeah, this is bad.
- 1:01:45But. Andy is visiting.
- 1:01:47Doctor Foley with his Chucky on a platter and he's like gun
- 1:01:50loving Andy over here. He's.
- 1:01:52Got his fucking gun. He's like, hey, how's this?
- 1:01:54Just walk into this. Federal building with a gun.
- 1:01:59You want to know how he? Has enough money to take these
- 1:02:02women on nice dates. It's because he has a YouTube
- 1:02:04channel. It's like, here's my gun.
- 1:02:05This is me shooting this doll. You want to see me like he he
- 1:02:10just loves the Second Amendment. He loves guns.
- 1:02:12He's like, here's this is a new gun I'm shooting Chucky with and
- 1:02:14like, here's me showing a doctor how I shoot a gun at Chucky.
- 1:02:17You say he loves the second. Amendment.
- 1:02:18I say he's a patriot. He's a patriot.
- 1:02:23Yeah. So he, like Doctor Foley just
- 1:02:25thinks that this is all special effects work and.
- 1:02:31And he's like trying to post proof that Chucky is alive and
- 1:02:34really did commit the murders. He's trying to exonerate me.
- 1:02:38Claire was friends with Angie and in Group therapy, she's
- 1:02:42saying if she was thinking of killing herself, I would know
- 1:02:44it. And Doctor Foley correctly says,
- 1:02:47like, that's not always, you know, And they start talking
- 1:02:54about, you know, she kind of accuses Nika.
- 1:02:56She was like, all of this stuff happened when you started here.
- 1:02:59That was your calling card in the blood.
- 1:03:02And then as they're talking, Nika realizes, Miss Valentine.
- 1:03:05Oh, Tiffany Valentine. You mean Charles Lee Ray's
- 1:03:08girlfriend, Tiffany Valentine. And he pulls out the like,
- 1:03:14they've got both the Chucky dolls here.
- 1:03:16And she was like, that is definitely Chucky, like evil
- 1:03:19Chucky. He's going to start murdering
- 1:03:20people. And he's like, it is just just a
- 1:03:23doll. And he almost, I feel like he's
- 1:03:27almost a worn out parent about to be like, all right, if we
- 1:03:30can't start fighting over the dolls, I'm taking them both.
- 1:03:32We're putting them both away. But instead, he's the more
- 1:03:35psychotic version of that where he just melts one of them.
- 1:03:38Yeah. And she's like, OK.
- 1:03:39Like, if it's not a doll, then prove it.
- 1:03:41Prove it to everybody here. So he's like, OK, like, and
- 1:03:43she's like, all right, take a fire and pull it.
- 1:03:46Like put it over his a fire, a fire.
- 1:03:49A whole fire. Take a fire.
- 1:03:50Hold the fire. In your hand, take up that fire
- 1:03:53and put it on. His hand, and that's what he
- 1:03:55does. He puts the he like, holds it to
- 1:03:57him. And I like the scene.
- 1:03:59I like how it's drawn out because it's like, oh, like
- 1:04:02flame on the finger. And he's gonna break the droopy
- 1:04:04hand, too. Is so gross.
- 1:04:06And then she was like, OK, now do Madeline's doll.
- 1:04:09And she's like, no. And they leave.
- 1:04:14Oh, also now. So Malcolm tells Nikka he's
- 1:04:20like, I agree with you. Better safe than sorry.
- 1:04:22I think Chucky did it. Let's just get rid of it, you
- 1:04:25know, once and for all. And she's like, OK, well, you
- 1:04:28have Madeline just walked outside.
- 1:04:29You have to follow her. I can't follow her in the snow.
- 1:04:32And also Ashley is saying I need to stay away from her.
- 1:04:35And he's like, my outdoor privileges have been revoked
- 1:04:37ever since I broke into Doctor Foley's computer.
- 1:04:41And she was like, well, we have to think of something.
- 1:04:43He was, well, I've done harder things as the CEO of a
- 1:04:47multibillion dollar corporation. I'm Mark, by the way, and you.
- 1:04:53Know who he is. Mark Zuckerberg.
- 1:04:57I like that she's. Like, wait, you're Mark
- 1:05:00Zuckerberg now? He's like, this is, yeah.
- 1:05:03Yeah, I'm like, I mean, come on. So he actually does like Nika
- 1:05:08does a distraction to get Carlos and the other order at least
- 1:05:12distracted while he goes out to go follow Madeline.
- 1:05:16Yeah. Meanwhile, Claire.
- 1:05:17Has taken the doll with the melty hand and is trying to dump
- 1:05:22him down the trash chute. But as she's about to dump him
- 1:05:25down the chute, he bites her. She goes, Oh my God, you are
- 1:05:31alive. At that moment, Doctor Foley and
- 1:05:34Carlos turn the corner. They see her freaking out and he
- 1:05:38was like OK, cool, you're getting intramuscular
- 1:05:41injections, we're taking you with us.
- 1:05:44It's just a doll. So they strap her to a table and
- 1:05:48give her the shots. And it's just supposed to kind
- 1:05:50of sedate her. Like she's still conscious, but
- 1:05:53she's not going to be moving around.
- 1:05:54She's not going to be because they think that she bit herself.
- 1:05:56So they think that she is like self harming.
- 1:05:59And again, if a patient has that kind of drug in their system,
- 1:06:06they can't also be in physical restraints without supervision.
- 1:06:08It's like a major safety issue. They're short staffed at this
- 1:06:11hospital. Yeah, they don't have enough.
- 1:06:13Staff for proper safety protocols.
- 1:06:16While all of this is. Happening Nika is watching from
- 1:06:19the window as Mark is approaching Madeline at the
- 1:06:23grave where Angela was buried was gonna is are gonna be
- 1:06:27buried. Yeah, and.
- 1:06:28She he goes over there and then like peeks into first she throws
- 1:06:33Chucky into the grave in the grave, and then he.
- 1:06:36Is like peeking. Over into the grave and she
- 1:06:38pushes him into the grave and that's when Ashley.
- 1:06:41Comes and gets Carlos and Doctor Foley saying something happened
- 1:06:45with Malcolm. So they go out there and we see
- 1:06:49the doll handed back to Madeline.
- 1:06:51It's meant to be like, oh. Did he walk down there in the
- 1:06:54grave, switch bodies with Mark? So yeah, we don't know what's
- 1:06:59going on at this point. And yeah, now.
- 1:07:02Malcolm seems kind of different. Claire sees Chucky walk and talk
- 1:07:06in the room she's in, and she can't, obviously, she can't
- 1:07:09really do anything about it. And he picks up a can of
- 1:07:11compressed air and like, this is one of those moments where she's
- 1:07:14just, like, staring in horror because what else is she
- 1:07:16supposed to do? And he throws it to the ground.
- 1:07:19It bursts up into the ceiling, breaks the skylight glass comes
- 1:07:24raining down and beheads her. It's such a cool kill.
- 1:07:28Yeah, it's super creative. Yeah, so.
- 1:07:31Andy. Is reading news of the events at
- 1:07:34the asylum. He's seen that there are now
- 1:07:37multiple deaths that have occurred there, so he knows
- 1:07:39shit's going down. So he pulls out old buzz cut
- 1:07:42Chucky and we don't know what's going to happen as of yet.
- 1:07:46Nika tells Doctor Foley that both dolls are alive and he
- 1:07:51wants to now hypnotize her to hear the truth because he thinks
- 1:07:54that she's full of shit. Here's the thing.
- 1:07:57Too. Is that Nika like this is such a
- 1:08:00like a ray of hope for her that she didn't commit these murders
- 1:08:04cuz she has convinced herself over the past four years that
- 1:08:07she actually did this. She hasn't been able to
- 1:08:10reconcile this in herself. And the fact that she has seen
- 1:08:16the Chucky's, like, alive, like, gives her the hope that she
- 1:08:19didn't actually do these things. It's not even necessarily about
- 1:08:22wanting to exonerate herself, although I'm sure she wants to
- 1:08:24exonerate herself, but it's more about, like, knowing that she
- 1:08:26didn't do this. And I think that Fiona plays
- 1:08:29this really well. Yeah, you can like.
- 1:08:31Yeah. She.
- 1:08:32Really does a good job with this.
- 1:08:34And then she also does a good job whenever she's hypnotized
- 1:08:36here because he pulls out this little flashing light thing and
- 1:08:40he pulls out a glass of bourbon or whiskey or something.
- 1:08:43Like, I'm like, at first I forgot that he did the whole,
- 1:08:46like, sexually inappropriate shit that's about to follow up.
- 1:08:49But my first problem was like, you shouldn't be drinking.
- 1:08:53Yeah, this isn't cool. This is unprofessional.
- 1:08:55Yeah, you can't drink all the. And he's like, oh, don't.
- 1:08:58Worry about that. This is going to be the least of
- 1:08:59your concerns because he hypnotizes Nika, gets her to
- 1:09:03confess again that she's been killing these people, even
- 1:09:06though it's very much him, just like guiding her into, like,
- 1:09:09answering these questions, like. All right, you did this right.
- 1:09:13He's not. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:09:14He's. Asking very leading questions.
- 1:09:16And that's the thing about hypnotism is that the science on
- 1:09:18this shows that really all it is is the state of suggestibility.
- 1:09:21Nothing that you're saying you're not like uncovering
- 1:09:24hidden thoughts. Yeah.
- 1:09:26I mean memories. Like this he wasn't.
- 1:09:28Really leaving it up into. Like a, was it this or this?
- 1:09:30Like, you did that right? And it's just like, Yep, yeah.
- 1:09:33And then he says. I've missed these little
- 1:09:36sessions of ours, haven't you? And she says Nope.
- 1:09:39He's like, Yep. Kind of expected that.
- 1:09:42And then he wins in for a kiss. Yeah, and it's very.
- 1:09:45Clear that he's done this before.
- 1:09:47And then Chucky hits him over the head with the bottle and he
- 1:09:50is like this guy, he's so sick. And then he hands her, he hands
- 1:09:55Nika a piece of glass. We got to a dream.
- 1:09:59She is crawling along the floor and she sees Alice, a little 12
- 1:10:04year old Alice now and then a giant Chucky comes up behind
- 1:10:09her. Oh, that giant Chucky is so.
- 1:10:10Terrible. And then it cuts to where it
- 1:10:12looks. Like she's in ECT again, and
- 1:10:15then it cuts to group therapy. Foley is late, and I like
- 1:10:19Madeline saying that. Like late people are rude
- 1:10:21people. He always says that.
- 1:10:22So where is he? And then Malcolm said, Malcolm's
- 1:10:25now Charles, by the way, that's his new name.
- 1:10:28And he says the late Doctor Foley.
- 1:10:32It's got a nice ring to it, don't you think?
- 1:10:34Nika? And Madeline goes to her room
- 1:10:39with Chucky. And Nika is, like, really trying
- 1:10:42to get her to leave the Chucky doll behind, but she won't.
- 1:10:46And the nurses are very protective over Madeline.
- 1:10:49Yeah. So.
- 1:10:50We cut to Andy. He's now just driving and he
- 1:10:53gets a call from Tiffany and Tiffany basically is like, hey,
- 1:10:59I got a message to you from Chucky, He says.
- 1:11:00You'll know what it means. It's.
- 1:11:02Just one word disembath. There's the camp.
- 1:11:08Yeah. God, I love Jennifer Tilly.
- 1:11:10Yeah, Jennifer Tilly, I like that she.
- 1:11:13We all know that she's capable of being a serious actor, but
- 1:11:16like in this series, she's just nothing but pure camp and I love
- 1:11:20how fully. She owns the Tiffany world too,
- 1:11:22and she keeps the Tiffany doll with it.
- 1:11:24Travels with her. Yeah, all the time.
- 1:11:26I love. It.
- 1:11:27That's so cool. So.
- 1:11:28Madeline is. Breastfeeding the doll and we
- 1:11:31see as she's like going to lay it down but he bit that nipple
- 1:11:34yeah bleeding and. She tucks him in.
- 1:11:38And she's like a boy's best friend is his mother.
- 1:11:41And then she smothers him. Oh my God.
- 1:11:43And this is dark. Because it's very much like
- 1:11:45alluding to what happened in her past and also watching like
- 1:11:49this. This feels, I feel bad after
- 1:11:53watching this. And it's because, like, the doll
- 1:11:55is fighting and then quiets down and because it is a, it is child
- 1:12:01size and stops moving and it's very dark and it's very bleak.
- 1:12:06And then we see that Foley, Malcolm and Nika witnessed the
- 1:12:11whole thing and he's like, meddling.
- 1:12:14Yeah. What have you done?
- 1:12:15Yeah, he's like, what did you do?
- 1:12:17And she's like, oh, I didn't do anything.
- 1:12:19It's a doll. And she's like, no, what did you
- 1:12:21do to your child? Like your actual child?
- 1:12:24And she's basically like, I'm sorry.
- 1:12:27She basically admits like, yeah, I like, I killed my kid and he
- 1:12:31makes her. Apologize to the doll, but
- 1:12:34actually Joshua and then he they have a symbolic funeral and they
- 1:12:43bury Chucky. She just has like the single
- 1:12:46shoe from him. Nika doesn't buy that he's
- 1:12:50really dead and she's like, he'll come back.
- 1:12:53He always does. That night, Andy arrives and he
- 1:12:58asked to see Doctor Foley or Nika.
- 1:13:00And the security guards like you have to either come during
- 1:13:02visiting hours for Nika. We're making an appointment with
- 1:13:05Doctor Foley. You can't just come in.
- 1:13:06He goes, well, then I would like to commit myself.
- 1:13:08And again, this isn't just like a standard psychiatric hospital.
- 1:13:11This is like an inmate facility. So what does?
- 1:13:15He do to get in well, he punches him in the face and again, I
- 1:13:20don't think this is. How this would work?
- 1:13:21No, he. Would go to jail, yeah, Gel gel.
- 1:13:24He wouldn't go to like a like a mental facility, but but we it
- 1:13:28doesn't matter. We still see him in in, Yeah, we
- 1:13:32see Buzz cut. Chucky is delivered to full and
- 1:13:36he's like, who is sending me all of these dolls?
- 1:13:39What the fuck, Nurse Ashley? I don't know if she's a nurse or
- 1:13:44I thought she was a nurse orderly, I think.
- 1:13:47I thought, I thought Carlos. Was the orderly?
- 1:13:49I don't know, I don't know. I checked the credits and they
- 1:13:51just had. People like credited as orderly
- 1:13:54one and two also so. Well, I don't know.
- 1:13:57Anyway, Ashley takes the shoe from Madeline because it's got
- 1:14:01laces in it, and she says you're on suicide watch.
- 1:14:04I'm going to be checking on you every 15 minutes.
- 1:14:07And she as she leaves, the door closes and we see Ragamuffin
- 1:14:12Chucky and he was like behind the door.
- 1:14:14And she was like you came back for me.
- 1:14:17And basically he like. Convinces her to let him kill
- 1:14:21her yeah yeah and at first I. Thought that he was going to
- 1:14:24make her swallow her tongue so that way it would look like it
- 1:14:27was a suicide. But instead he rips out her
- 1:14:32esophagus, which is? Yeah, it's.
- 1:14:36It's weird at first because it's just like sticking his hand in
- 1:14:38her mouth, but then it just gets like further down in there and
- 1:14:41he actually Yanks it out. It's really nasty.
- 1:14:44And Ashley? Finds her in 15 minutes with
- 1:14:48Chucky's arm just sticking out of her mouth.
- 1:14:51And when Doctor Foley and Carlos come in, she quits.
- 1:14:54She's like, I can't, I can't not do this anymore.
- 1:14:57Can you blame her? No.
- 1:14:58No, this is fucked. Up.
- 1:15:00And Carlos? Dumps the doll in the trash
- 1:15:03chute. We get to Nika and Foley's
- 1:15:05office. She is in a straight jacket and
- 1:15:08he's like, what are you doing here and how did you get here?
- 1:15:10And she's like, how do you think?
- 1:15:12Yeah, she's in there with a short.
- 1:15:13Haired Chucky, too. And he and he tells her that
- 1:15:17Madeline's dead and he basically he's planning to write a book
- 1:15:21about all of this. He's like, I don't care if you
- 1:15:23actually did it or not. The book is going to sell really
- 1:15:25well either way. Fuck this guy.
- 1:15:27Oh my God. So he busts out all this stuff.
- 1:15:32He wasn't planning for it, but it's like, whoa, while you're
- 1:15:34here. So he starts getting all the
- 1:15:35hypnosis shit out and these shoes.
- 1:15:38The slippers and yeah, and. Then he gets them out and he
- 1:15:40just starts kissing her feet. Oh my God.
- 1:15:42And the look on Nika's face, like it's just like the feet.
- 1:15:47Yeah, it's so bad. And then?
- 1:15:51Chucky hits him again. He's like, I just can't with
- 1:15:53this guy. I don't know whether to kill him
- 1:15:55or take notes. I just love how it's like the.
- 1:15:57Same way every single time, yeah?
- 1:16:00This is where we get the undead Chucky, as I wrote in my notes,
- 1:16:04but really it's Ragamuffin Chucky, he says.
- 1:16:06Andy is there, so they're all good to go.
- 1:16:09And this is where they wake up. Mullet Chucky or buzz Cut
- 1:16:11Chucky? Yeah.
- 1:16:13We got one. Let's just go ahead and get
- 1:16:15another one. So they do the chant real quick
- 1:16:16and he wakes up. Yeah, so he says.
- 1:16:19That he found a spell on voodoofordummies.com that can
- 1:16:22make him like, can help him possessed anyone.
- 1:16:26So he had possessed Alice and a lot of people trust cute little
- 1:16:29kids. And so, you know, kind of went
- 1:16:32on a little little murder spree as he's want to do, but one of
- 1:16:37the victims fought back and that's how Alice ended up dying.
- 1:16:42So as all of. This is going down they, Carlos
- 1:16:47appears. Yeah, and.
- 1:16:48They all attack and they stab his leg, he falls down to the
- 1:16:51ground and then they just start. This goes on for SO.
- 1:16:54Long all three chuckies have their own.
- 1:16:57Stabbing device and they just go to town on him.
- 1:17:02I love it so much 'cause when they're done, they're just
- 1:17:04laughing and having a good time. And the new ones like Oh my God
- 1:17:06this is the most fun I've had my entire life.
- 1:17:10They all just laugh at him like it's so fucking funny.
- 1:17:13But now they start arguing about.
- 1:17:14Who's gonna go take care of Andy?
- 1:17:16And they're talking about who's had the worst day.
- 1:17:18And then buzz cuts like hello. And they're like, oh, God, yeah,
- 1:17:22absolutely. You need you need the win.
- 1:17:25Yeah, yeah. Please buy be.
- 1:17:26My guest, but I had the other one and it's like, yeah, like no
- 1:17:29fair. You got to suck titty earlier
- 1:17:33we. See the security guard go
- 1:17:35outside and there is an open gate and a car in front of it,
- 1:17:38so he's going to go check it out.
- 1:17:40He sees the Tiffany doll in the back seat and of course, Tiffany
- 1:17:44in Jennifer Tilley's body comes up behind him and slits his
- 1:17:47throat with her handy dandy nail file knife.
- 1:17:51Chucky performs the spell on Nika and apparently spell allows
- 1:17:57her to walk. Yeah, just curious.
- 1:17:59Paralysis again. I can't think of the metaphysics
- 1:18:03too much in this. No, in this series.
- 1:18:05So that'll be in the show, it continues.
- 1:18:09Yeah. It explores.
- 1:18:10This a little bit more yeah as well so if you haven't seen the
- 1:18:14show you can get a little bit more of Nika's story yeah with
- 1:18:16the way this is there's no. Way you can't acknowledge this
- 1:18:19at this point. Yeah, so.
- 1:18:22She Doctor Foley's starting to come to and Chucky and her body
- 1:18:27goes this is for Nika and just like caves his head and just.
- 1:18:31Stomps it in hard and then we cut over to buzz cut Chucky.
- 1:18:36Well, first we cut. Her walking out and she's
- 1:18:40wearing the iconic Charles Lee Ray like long black jacket and
- 1:18:44bright red scarf. Yeah, I thought that was a nice.
- 1:18:47Little touch on. The the wardrobe department's
- 1:18:50part. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:18:51That's really cool. So now Chucky is over in Wait
- 1:18:56wait, no Malcolm gets. Strolled through the.
- 1:18:58Eye by Evil Dead Chucky, Yes, So Malcolm's.
- 1:19:01There when one of the when the evil dead Chucky comes in and
- 1:19:04he's like, no, the other Chucky, the it's got to be evil dead.
- 1:19:09Chucky because he's got the thing attached to his arm?
- 1:19:10No, because there's two chuckies at this.
- 1:19:12Time because one of them comes in and he's like, I did it, I
- 1:19:15killed Ashlyn. He goes, hey, you didn't.
- 1:19:16And he's like, I did, I'm Charles.
- 1:19:18I'm a murderer. And he goes, I'm Charles Lee
- 1:19:20Ray. But my friends call me Chucky.
- 1:19:23No, that was Nika. I was saying that.
- 1:19:25OK. That's yeah.
- 1:19:26Thank you. I forgot that she's Chucky.
- 1:19:27Yeah, cuz like it breaks his. Brains like, wait, Nika.
- 1:19:30He's like, Nope, not Nika anymore.
- 1:19:33And like he's just starts like verbally tearing Malcolm down
- 1:19:37and then like, it causes Malcolm to just like, fall to his knees
- 1:19:39in disbelief. Yeah.
- 1:19:41And then he goes. And then he goes, Oh my God,
- 1:19:42I'm. Malcolm I just wanted to be
- 1:19:44someone special. And then Evil Dead Chucky chills
- 1:19:47him through the head. We cut to Andy.
- 1:19:51Buzz cut. Chucky attacks him and hurts his
- 1:19:54leg, but he fights back. He was ready for this.
- 1:19:57And as he's holding Chucky up against the wall, he reaches
- 1:20:00into his stomach. This is very Videodrome.
- 1:20:04Yeah, he just. Pulls a gun.
- 1:20:06Out and he goes. This is the end.
- 1:20:08Oh shit, that is that is so. You're right, Videodrome.
- 1:20:11I didn't even think of that. But yeah, I was just thinking
- 1:20:14like, oh, he's going in for a tickle.
- 1:20:15Like, there we go. That's how you win the fight.
- 1:20:20Yeah. He just.
- 1:20:20Oh, my God. And then he caves his head in.
- 1:20:22Yeah. Because like.
- 1:20:24The bullet to the head. Wasn't enough to get him so fuck
- 1:20:26it I'll just stomp his head but as he's.
- 1:20:29About to leave, he sees Nika, realizes what's happened
- 1:20:33immediately, and Chucky says it's your turn and locks the
- 1:20:39door as the alarms are going off.
- 1:20:41And Chucky, Nika walks out, kisses Tiffany, Jennifer, and
- 1:20:49they're like, some things never change.
- 1:20:51And then they get in the car and I love this final shot of them
- 1:20:54all laughing. And they look in the rear view
- 1:20:56and the Tiffany, yeah, she's tackling.
- 1:20:58But you saw. Her before.
- 1:21:00But she didn't do anything. So did she just have the doll in
- 1:21:03there? But seeing it actually be alive
- 1:21:05is cool. And if you were wondering if we.
- 1:21:08Have a post credits scene. We do, We do.
- 1:21:10And it's Kyle coming back for the head of Chucky in Andy's
- 1:21:15cabin saying Andy sent me and she immediately has like weapons
- 1:21:19and stuff ready to go. Yeah, got to.
- 1:21:21Keep the torture going. Yep.
- 1:21:24All right, so that's how it ends.
- 1:21:26I think it's still an 8.5. I think it's a really solid,
- 1:21:29really good movie. I agree.
- 1:21:30I'm I'm going to keep mine on. Nate still.
- 1:21:32But I like this entryway. It's really good.
- 1:21:36Talia, she was pretty sleepy during it.
- 1:21:39It was a big day for her. She had a lot of excitement.
- 1:21:42Going on beforehand, yeah, but. We all know how she feels about
- 1:21:45these movies. It scares her the fact that
- 1:21:48there's multiple chuckies now. Not that he trust any Chucky.
- 1:21:51Yeah. She this is probably the movie
- 1:21:53that made her not trust our doll cuz he's in here with us right
- 1:21:56now. Like, could he be possessing us
- 1:21:58right now? She doesn't know.
- 1:21:59She doesn't know she's gonna. Look at us strange for a little
- 1:22:02bit. Yeah.
- 1:22:03So I think Talia, I think this really scares her.
- 1:22:06So I think maybe she's going to give this a six.
- 1:22:08OK, that's good. Because she could recognize that
- 1:22:11it's scary. So it's doing its job as a
- 1:22:12horror movie. Yeah.
- 1:22:15Zoe's Ultimate warrior. OK.
- 1:22:18I think it's Andy. Why?
- 1:22:20Because he. Keeps the one that he tortures.
- 1:22:24He sends one ahead of time. He's got like a weapon planted
- 1:22:27inside of it. He's ready to go.
- 1:22:29He did the sneak attack. You're right.
- 1:22:32So he loves the sneak. Attack.
- 1:22:34Andy, yeah, you're. Right.
- 1:22:35It's got to be Andy. Andy was prepared this time
- 1:22:37around. Andy likes to eat toys with his
- 1:22:40victims. Yeah.
- 1:22:42OK, so. Those are all of our ratings.
- 1:22:44What would you change? What's one thing you would
- 1:22:46change? That's a good question.
- 1:22:49I feel like I would have had Andy a little bit more involved
- 1:22:52with the finale, OK, Because like I wanted him to have
- 1:22:56because you're teasing it, but at the same time, like, we never
- 1:23:00get that interaction. They have a brief encounter at
- 1:23:03the very end of the movie, but that's it.
- 1:23:05I kind of like this whole. Idea of he's coming in to try
- 1:23:08and save the day and it just doesn't work out.
- 1:23:11That's cool, and it can still. Be that, but have them interact.
- 1:23:15OK, You're trying to blend the two worlds together.
- 1:23:18Nika's still doesn't even really know who Andy is.
- 1:23:21OK. By the time he gets to see Nika
- 1:23:24in person, it's Chucky. So I feel like it would be
- 1:23:26important if Nika knew. Like, hey, I'm not crazy.
- 1:23:30There is this person that dealt with the same thing as me and
- 1:23:33can confirm my suspicions that this doll is actually killing
- 1:23:36people and I'm not like, having schizophrenic episodes.
- 1:23:41Yeah, that could have been an interesting.
- 1:23:42Twist to have to it where she does speak to him.
- 1:23:45That's a good point. So yeah, that'd.
- 1:23:47Be pretty much what I would do. OK, OK, Now who did you relate
- 1:23:51to? I think I.
- 1:23:56Probably. Related to.
- 1:24:01Madeline because I also think that late people are rude people
- 1:24:05and. You're also like that with Tayo,
- 1:24:09with the way she is with Chucky and Scout and Zoe.
- 1:24:12Yeah, babies. They're my babies.
- 1:24:14They're my babies. They're my babies.
- 1:24:16You may not. Burn their hands.
- 1:24:19I'm not smothering them though. Maybe with affection, but
- 1:24:23definitely smothering them with. Affection.
- 1:24:25Yeah, I don't know. Sometimes it's not enough.
- 1:24:27For them, I could go out there and give Talia all the love in
- 1:24:30the world and she's gonna be like, this is not enough.
- 1:24:33I maybe I need more. Is this all you got?
- 1:24:36She's like. I'm the light.
- 1:24:37Of your life. Excuse you please.
- 1:24:39Please show me the proper love and affection.
- 1:24:41I thought you loved me. Yeah, true.
- 1:24:45I related to Andy at the beginning because I'm just like,
- 1:24:48awkward situations. Give me that drink.
- 1:24:51Give me that. Give me that glass.
- 1:24:52Like I'm going to get drunk or I'm just going to be like
- 1:24:54drinking something the entire time to try and make this as
- 1:24:58comfortable as possible for me until I get into a good flow
- 1:25:00with the conversation. I need that drink in my hand.
- 1:25:03OK. All right, What's next?
- 1:25:08We don't do a dream sequel. With this, because it's our
- 1:25:10franchise, so. Tagline New tagline.
- 1:25:18Two's a blessing. Three's a curse, dude.
- 1:25:23That's good. Thank you.
- 1:25:24That's way better than what I was about to say.
- 1:25:26What were you gonna say? I.
- 1:25:27Don't even remember now. You just wiped it out with that.
- 1:25:30Yeah, that was good. All right, cool.
- 1:25:33I'm gonna take this. One and I'm gonna ride this high
- 1:25:35for the rest of the year. It's two weeks, but OK.
- 1:25:39That's exactly, yeah. Not gonna last so long, but it's
- 1:25:42gonna be a good time. OK, now it's time for reviews.
- 1:25:48Yeah, yeah, All right, cool. So I knew that we liked it, so I
- 1:25:52got us a negative review off of IMDb.
- 1:25:54Oh boy. I'm.
- 1:25:55Scared of the IMDb shows on movies I like all right,
- 1:25:59especially. Like very like.
- 1:26:01LGBT heavy movies I like. Yeah, I tried to avoid.
- 1:26:05The just like this movie's bad because I think it's bad type of
- 1:26:09reviews. So I got 1 here that I feel like
- 1:26:11I didn't fully read it. Just beware.
- 1:26:14But what I did see seem thought out enough.
- 1:26:16The key is to not go for the one out of 10s, go for like a three
- 1:26:20or something. Yeah, that shows that they're
- 1:26:21putting. Thought into it.
- 1:26:22They're not just being like bad. One of them I saw was like it
- 1:26:26was. Rated one out 10.
- 1:26:27They were like I'd give this a 5 out of 10.
- 1:26:29Like then give it a 5 out of 10/5.
- 1:26:31There's an option on this website in which you are
- 1:26:34reviewing. All right, so this one is 3 out
- 1:26:38of 10. The bad Chucky is back.
- 1:26:42The first two Child's Play movies were good, and then it
- 1:26:44only received bad films until 2013 when The Curse of Chucky
- 1:26:48gave some life to the franchise. I was with high expectations
- 1:26:51because I like the previous film.
- 1:26:53However, the cult of Chucky is really bad, like The Seed of
- 1:26:56Chucky or even worse. The story is a mess, stupid and
- 1:26:59boring, and the kills are bad and the characters are just
- 1:27:02uninteresting. However, this installment has
- 1:27:04some good jokes and tries to give some life to this
- 1:27:06franchise. And the characters of Fiona
- 1:27:08Doroff and Alex Vincent are fine.
- 1:27:11In my opinion, this movie should start with what we've seen
- 1:27:13during the ending. That would open an opportunity
- 1:27:16for a good and interesting story.
- 1:27:19If there will be a sequel, I hope will be different, more
- 1:27:22violent, funny without being ridiculous, and with good
- 1:27:25characters. Chucky is back, but we have seen
- 1:27:27him in better days. Rating 3 1/2 out of sin.
- 1:27:31I think this is a. Person that just doesn't like
- 1:27:33campy elements. That's I think.
- 1:27:35That's yeah, like they because the.
- 1:27:37Ones they listed 1-2 and curse those are like the most.
- 1:27:41I don't want to say grounded, but those are the most like pure
- 1:27:44horror over. Yeah, you know, an interesting
- 1:27:47thing that I was. Reading in one of the interviews
- 1:27:51for this was somebody talking to Don Mancini about the first one.
- 1:27:54Even then, they said it kind of is like an action movie because
- 1:28:00it has, like, these, like, chase scenes and explosions and all
- 1:28:03kinds of things going on. And he agreed.
- 1:28:06He's like, that wasn't anything that I did, though.
- 1:28:08Everything I did was pure horror.
- 1:28:09But Tom Holland threw in a lot of the action sequences.
- 1:28:12Yeah, actually I could. Definitely see an argument for
- 1:28:15that being an action horror. I could too, yeah.
- 1:28:18But yeah, all the other ones like 2 and 3 and 4, you get the
- 1:28:23campiness. But I think people still, I
- 1:28:25don't know why 4 worked better for people than Seed did.
- 1:28:31I mean, 4 is objectively a much better movie than Seed if you
- 1:28:33ask me, but they were both like the same levels of campiness
- 1:28:38Bride. Why are you saying 4 instead of
- 1:28:41bride? Bride of Chucky?
- 1:28:42Yeah, it's confusing. Yeah, Bride.
- 1:28:44Of Chucky is. What I'm talking about, so I
- 1:28:46don't get it. But yeah, like I'm I hate to
- 1:28:50burst your bubble, but the camp does not go away after No fall
- 1:28:54here. Once you go into the TV series,
- 1:28:56they embrace the camp still. It's still horror.
- 1:28:59They still have good horror moments, but the camp still
- 1:29:02there at like in my head I'm. Just hearing Bug grebble in that
- 1:29:05episode of King of the Hill where he's like, it's camp, it's
- 1:29:09smalls, darling. Yeah.
- 1:29:13You know, I mean, I guess it's just a preference thing.
- 1:29:17I get it if people don't like camp like.
- 1:29:21I camp is. One of those things that I can
- 1:29:22easily understand if you're not for it, because if you are
- 1:29:28liking objectively good stuff like an objectively good
- 1:29:32performance or an objectively good like film like it usually
- 1:29:35camp isn't a factor. Like it's usually the same thing
- 1:29:38though is that I think camp can. Be it like trying to call
- 1:29:42anything objectively good is just.
- 1:29:45I think that's such a tightrope to walk because then how do we
- 1:29:48define something that's objectively good?
- 1:29:50Because you could also say that camp can be done in a way that
- 1:29:53it's objectively good too. OK, I think a lot of this
- 1:29:55becomes subjective and I think it's perfectly valid if camp is
- 1:29:59not your thing, if you don't love it, that's fine.
- 1:30:01To me, it's at such a point where, like, I miss when there
- 1:30:04aren't hints of it in a franchise like Chucky, where it
- 1:30:07is so much embedded in its DNA. Yeah, you're you know what?
- 1:30:10You're right. Objectively good was a poor
- 1:30:13choice of words for me. I think I'm saying like the
- 1:30:16serious stuff. I take like a movie that will
- 1:30:19like take the premise itself seriously and doesn't ham
- 1:30:22anything up. And here's the thing.
- 1:30:24With this franchise, like I said, I do think it's very much
- 1:30:27embedded in its day and night, and I think it kind of has to be
- 1:30:29because after you do one or two of these movies, you kind of
- 1:30:33have to acknowledge that you were talking about a doll
- 1:30:36running around killing people. I think leaning into that is the
- 1:30:40right choice. That way the series doesn't
- 1:30:41start to feel stale. And I get how that could be off
- 1:30:44putting to some people. But part of me wonders if those
- 1:30:47same people, if it kept it straight laced, serious, pure
- 1:30:51horror, would they start to complain that it's just the same
- 1:30:54thing over and over again? Yeah, you know what?
- 1:30:57You're right. Because like it does add a
- 1:30:58little bit of freshness to the series here, because once you
- 1:31:02can start. Playing around and we talk about
- 1:31:03this all the time too. The the line between like horror
- 1:31:06and comedy are just two sides of the same coin.
- 1:31:09A lot of it is just about peaks and valleys setting like getting
- 1:31:13the right setup and then having the perfect release like and I
- 1:31:17think that's why so much of the horror that I like especially
- 1:31:21does inject quite a bit of camp to it.
- 1:31:24So I just, you know, it's very much A to each their own kind of
- 1:31:28thing, but yeah, if you're not a camp person, you're not gonna
- 1:31:32like a majority of the Child's Play series, and that's fine.
- 1:31:35Stick to the ones you like. They're there.
- 1:31:37Yeah, that's true. Keep watching them.
- 1:31:39Yeah. They they, that's.
- 1:31:40The good thing about the series is they do have the serious
- 1:31:43ones. If that's your bag.
- 1:31:44Yeah, the cast and. Crew, they're residuals.
- 1:31:48OK, so I guess that sums it up pretty easily.
- 1:31:51So let's go on to listener reviews.
- 1:31:54OK, we have one. It's from Michael E Howard who
- 1:31:58says is the perfect ending cliffhanger to a great
- 1:32:01franchise. I love the institution setting.
- 1:32:04This Chucky is dark and the twist of multiple Chucky dolls
- 1:32:07makes it all the more fun. The kills were literally to die
- 1:32:09for 9 out of 10. OK.
- 1:32:12I like that. I do.
- 1:32:14And you know what, hearing that, I'm thinking maybe part of the
- 1:32:17reason I love this so much is because it is so single
- 1:32:19location, but in a way that involves other people
- 1:32:22organically. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:32:25They. I will agree that this is a
- 1:32:27single location movie, even though we go a couple places.
- 1:32:30Yeah, but it is a single location setting.
- 1:32:33All right, Fickle Travis. Has deemed that you were like
- 1:32:36the Magic 8 ball of Is this a single location and we just
- 1:32:39shake you in whatever answer floats to the surface?
- 1:32:41I feel like I've got to. I gotta be the definitive call.
- 1:32:45Like if it's ever in question it says it's single.
- 1:32:48Location. Therefore it's single location.
- 1:32:51Here's the thing. I'm.
- 1:32:52Such a stickler about that shit. If I say yes, then it's gotta be
- 1:32:55yeah, you know, but yeah, I agree with all that stuff too.
- 1:33:01I think that the kills were amazing.
- 1:33:03This one, everything was really interesting.
- 1:33:05It's it's still keeping the series fresh with the multiple
- 1:33:08chuckies especially. That was a good way to like
- 1:33:10shake things up a tad bit to give a little bit more juice.
- 1:33:14And it and it definitely it. Pays off in the television show
- 1:33:17big time. Oh yeah, for sure, big time.
- 1:33:19Oh my God, the different chuckies you get in ATV show.
- 1:33:22Holy shit it's so fun. I don't even want.
- 1:33:25I want to talk about them but I don't want to spoil them for
