- 1:24Speaker 6: We're going to hear from Ryan Targosh. We did not
- 1:28Speaker 6: have a show Tuesday. Normally he will visit with Riley
- 1:34Speaker 6: on Tuesdays, but we're getting him today. We've got the
- 1:41Speaker 6: Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition. In the second hour. We've got
- 1:46Speaker 6: some crazy things going on with animals, as we generally do.
- 1:52Speaker 6: Rangers blue Jays Tonight. As the Rangers road trip continues,
- 2:00Speaker 6: they lost two out of three to Marlins. Tonight will
- 2:03Speaker 6: be the exact halfway point of this season. The Rangers
- 2:09Speaker 6: are thirty eight up and forty two down. McKenzie gore
- 2:13Speaker 6: is on the mound for Texas. The Rangers are tied
- 2:18Speaker 6: with Oakland and Houston in the Al West, two and
- 2:24Speaker 6: a half behind the Mariners. The Rangers are one in
- 2:31Speaker 6: three in their last four series. They were playing so
- 2:34Speaker 6: well up until then, but of course they lost Jack Lyder.
- 2:37Speaker 6: But they get Corey Seeger back tonight. Seeger has been
- 2:44Speaker 6: activated from the injured list. He had concussion that he
- 2:51Speaker 6: concurs had in a collision with Kansas City catcher Carter
- 2:55Speaker 6: Jensen on June eleventh. He's missed the last twelve games.
- 3:00Speaker 6: The club has gone four and eight since then. Cody
- 3:04Speaker 6: Freeman has been placed on the ten day DL with
- 3:08Speaker 6: a herniated disc. That doesn't sound good for Freeman. They
- 3:15Speaker 6: are really really thin in the outfield. Infielder Blaine Krim
- 3:20Speaker 6: has been released. The Astros, at four games under, are
- 3:26Speaker 6: in Detroit to take on the Tigers. That game will
- 3:29Speaker 6: be broadcast on Willie. We will have Bombers baseball for
- 3:34Speaker 6: you tonight. Tatsuya Emi will start for the Houstons against
- 3:40Speaker 6: Troy Melton. This is the fourth game of a seven
- 3:45Speaker 6: game road trip for the Astros. They will play again
- 3:51Speaker 6: tomorrow evening in Houston. Again. We will have Bombers baseball
- 3:57Speaker 6: tomorrow and then Saturday afternoon a little afternoon at twelve
- 4:05Speaker 6: ten and Sunday afternoon at twelve forty. Adam third baseman
- 4:10Speaker 6: Nico Partita has been named first Team Freshman All American
- 4:14Speaker 6: by Baseball All American. He is the tenth Aggie to
- 4:19Speaker 6: receive those honors. Gavin Grohovac did it a couple of
- 4:23Speaker 6: years ago in forty eight starts Partida Slash three, six,
- 4:30Speaker 6: four oh eight and five point fifty. Drove in forty
- 4:33Speaker 6: three runs, scored forty five hit, twelve homers, eight doubles
- 4:39Speaker 6: seventeen multi hit games. He was also recognized by Perfect
- 4:47Speaker 6: Game and the National College Baseball Writers Association. He will
- 4:52Speaker 6: be part of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team training
- 4:57Speaker 6: camp roster, which began play tomorrow. By the way, it's
- 5:04Speaker 6: now called the Bruce Bolt Classic at dyk In Park
- 5:09Speaker 6: and it's college Baseball March fifth through the seventh. The
- 5:15Speaker 6: Aggies will play Louisville on March the fifth. They will
- 5:20Speaker 6: take on Louisiana on Saturday evening March the sixth, and
- 5:25Speaker 6: the University of Houston on Sunday evening March the seventh.
- 5:31Speaker 6: Yukon Utah also in that tournament March fifth through the seventh.
- 5:41Speaker 6: The SEC League office has announced the school's men's basketball opponents.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Bucky let that slip yesterday in talking to the media
- 5:53Speaker 6: Home games for the Aggies Alabama, Arkansas, A, Georgia, Oklahoma,
- 6:04Speaker 6: Tennessee away at Florida at Kentucky at Ole, Miss at
- 6:11Speaker 6: Mississippi State at Missouri out South Carolina, and the three
- 6:16Speaker 6: home and away teams will be LSU, Texas and Vanderbilt.
- 6:24Speaker 6: The whole schedule should be released fairly soon. Let's see
- 6:29Speaker 6: if it says this doesn't give a date exactly. We
- 6:36Speaker 6: know A and M will also play Stanford in the
- 6:40Speaker 6: ACC Challenge. That still sounds weird. They'll play Oklahoma State
- 6:45Speaker 6: at home. They will play Florida State in Houston, among
- 6:51Speaker 6: others on their schedule. Let's see. Let's do this one
- 6:58Speaker 6: because it has a little bit to do with basketball,
- 7:03Speaker 6: although not a ton Caleb Williams. He's a quarterback, right
- 7:10Speaker 6: Trey Caleb Williams. He wants to trademark the name Iceman, Well,
- 7:21Speaker 6: he's an idiot. There's only one Iceman. There will only
- 7:26Speaker 6: ever be one Iceman. That's George Gervin NBA Hall of Famer.
- 7:37Speaker 6: The trademark is possessed by UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Ladell.
- 7:45Speaker 6: The United States Patent and Trademark Office has refused the
- 7:49Speaker 6: Bear's quarterback application. These marks are identical in appearance, sound,
- 7:55Speaker 6: and meaning. Additionally, because they're identical, these marks are likely
- 7:59Speaker 6: to engender the same connotation and overall commercial impression when
- 8:02Speaker 6: considering connection with the applicants. This sounds like the government
- 8:05Speaker 6: doesn't Lacrosse, an Oregon based footwear company, owns the trademark
- 8:14Speaker 6: Iceman for one of its boots and boot liners. Again,
- 8:20Speaker 6: there's only one Iceman. This kid is too young to know.
- 8:26Speaker 6: In fact, when he dubbed himself by the way, I
- 8:32Speaker 6: don't think you could dub yourself. I think other people
- 8:35Speaker 6: have to do that. Okay, that doesn't work. Ice was
- 8:41Speaker 6: given that name. He wears that name pry proudly. And again,
- 8:48Speaker 6: you can't give yourself that name. This kid didn't even
- 8:51Speaker 6: know who George Gervin was.
- 8:52Speaker 7: That's a fact. They asked him about it. When he said,
- 8:55Speaker 7: I'm the iceman.
- 8:56Speaker 6: I think what happened this last season, didn't it? Trey,
- 8:58Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure all this during the season, I'm the Iceman.
- 9:02Speaker 6: Now you're not get something else, go another direction. Chris
- 9:08Speaker 6: Ever today on social media, posted that her ovarian cancer
- 9:14Speaker 6: has returned, Ever, announcing she will not be part of
- 9:18Speaker 6: the Wimbledon coverage this year, quoting I've already undergone surgery
- 9:24Speaker 6: as the first step in my retreatment and recovery, and
- 9:27Speaker 6: will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks. Overian cancer is relentless,
- 9:35Speaker 6: but I will stay optimistic and determined to continue to
- 9:40Speaker 6: fight this battle. Connor McGregor is returning to competition in
- 9:47Speaker 6: the first time in five years next month at UFC
- 9:51Speaker 6: three point twenty nine. The Irish Stars admits he was
- 9:56Speaker 6: derailed by success and fame over the past decade. You
- 10:01Speaker 6: think it's his first appearance inside the octagon since he
- 10:05Speaker 6: broke its leg during a TKA loss in July of
- 10:11Speaker 6: twenty twenty one. In an interview with Paramount, McGregor says
- 10:15Speaker 6: fame has its pitfalls. You better move carefully in this world,
- 10:20Speaker 6: for sure, probably even more so now. I've taken a
- 10:24Speaker 6: lot of lessons in my life. It's just about self discovery.
- 10:30Speaker 6: I find myself even now still in a fight with
- 10:32Speaker 6: an old version of me or old ways that don't
- 10:36Speaker 6: serve me. Connor net never met a party or a
- 10:40Speaker 6: drink he didn't like and the lear Field Director's Cup
- 10:46Speaker 6: final standings announced today.
- 10:49Speaker 3: A and M.
- 10:50Speaker 6: Finished twelfth, Duke eleven Ohio State ten, Michigan nine, Georgia eight,
- 11:01Speaker 6: USC seven, Florida six, Virginia five, North Carolina four, Ucla three,
- 11:13Speaker 6: Stanford two, and Texas number one. There are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Eight of the top sixteen are in the SEC. Okay,
- 11:30Speaker 6: we're gonna.
- 11:30Speaker 7: Take a break. I will tell you that.
- 11:32Speaker 6: On Monday, Rich Shaye from Major League Eating will join
- 11:38Speaker 6: us to talk about the fourth of July hot Dog
- 11:41Speaker 6: Eating Contest on Coney Island. Yes, Joey Chestnut will be there.
- 11:49Speaker 6: We will talk to Rich Shay. Every year we talked
- 11:53Speaker 6: to Rich Shay and have for a long time. I
- 11:58Speaker 6: don't remember the year when I was at the hot
- 12:01Speaker 6: dog Eating contest as the spray pit reporter for ABC Radio.
- 12:08Speaker 6: I'm trying to think about when that was used to
- 12:14Speaker 6: have pictures on the website of that. Maybe I still do.
- 12:17Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 12:19Speaker 6: But we'll be joined Monday by Rich Shae. Rusty Bursam
- 12:23Speaker 6: will be with me also on Monday. All Right, we're
- 12:26Speaker 6: gonna take a break, We're gonna come back. We're gonna
- 12:29Speaker 6: talk Bucky Ball after this. For Chad Jones, law.
- 12:33Speaker 8: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 12:36Speaker 8: do injuries from car recks. But you didn't sign up
- 12:39Speaker 8: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 12:41Speaker 8: paying attention. It was their fault and now you're left
- 12:43Speaker 8: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a doctor,

- 12:58Speaker 8: seven nine five nine five, or go online to Chad
- 13:01Speaker 8: Jones Law dot com.
- 13:03Speaker 9: If you miss tech SACS Live, you missed Lord Tubbington.
- 13:07Speaker 10: Jace coach Early is unbelievable. He's he's still the best.
- 13:11Speaker 10: He will always be the best. He's unlike anybody else
- 13:13Speaker 10: that that coaches. Stuff that he's assembled is probably the
- 13:15Speaker 10: best in the nation. There's there's not another school out
- 13:18Speaker 10: there that will take you where you want to be
- 13:20Speaker 10: within this game and also just give you the opportunities
- 13:22Speaker 10: off the field like text A and M does. It's
- 13:24Speaker 10: it's a special place. And I've said it before and
- 13:27Speaker 10: I'll say it again. If you want to be great,
- 13:28Speaker 10: you want to be an.
- 13:29Speaker 9: Aggie Techacs Live brought to you by David Gardner's Jewelers
- 13:32Speaker 9: hang out weekdays from eight to eleven on the Zone.
- 13:58Speaker 6: Supposed to go see the Eagles in a few miles
- 14:00Speaker 6: said there one of their last few concerts.
- 14:05Speaker 7: We'll see that happens.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It h.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Cornway twenty did a version of this, just a warning.
- 14:39Speaker 6: I am going to be away from this microphone for a.
- 14:43Speaker 7: Few weeks, just to break That's it.
- 14:49Speaker 6: And uh, there's gonna be a lot of different people
- 14:51Speaker 6: in here, and.
- 14:55Speaker 7: As always, treat them kindly.
- 14:58Speaker 6: And the plan is to be back August whatever the
- 15:05Speaker 6: first Monday in August is, and that will be very
- 15:08Speaker 6: close to our Did you find it? Oh that's me. Yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 6: that's that's me as Homer. That's a Halloween get up.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Man.
- 15:22Speaker 7: It's got to be on there somewhere.
- 15:24Speaker 6: I don't know where my pictures from the hot dog
- 15:29Speaker 6: eating contest went. We'll find him.
- 15:32Speaker 7: Okay, we're gonna talk. We're gonna hear from Bucky.
- 15:36Speaker 6: He visited with reporters yesterday, opened up practice for a
- 15:40Speaker 6: little while. Lots of new faces, just like there were
- 15:45Speaker 6: last year, and just like there's going to be every
- 15:48Speaker 6: year with nil.
- 15:49Speaker 7: This is not anything.
- 15:51Speaker 6: New, but he had a little time to get a
- 15:55Speaker 6: team together. So let's hear from the Aggie basketball coach.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Summer's starting to get rolling.
- 16:02Speaker 11: Just what's been your observation about the group that you've
- 16:04Speaker 11: put together.
- 16:05Speaker 12: They work hard, I'll say that, I mean they grinders,
- 16:08Speaker 12: They play hard, work hard. Last year's group had a
- 16:11Speaker 12: bunch of new guys who are a little bit older.
- 16:13Speaker 12: These guys aren't as old, but and sometimes we got
- 16:17Speaker 12: an older group. They kind of understand they got to
- 16:19Speaker 12: pace themselves a little bit, and this group has no.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Pace to them. They got those younger legs, so they
- 16:24Speaker 3: can rind and expect to be there now and at
- 16:26Speaker 3: the end of the season. I think they you know,
- 16:29Speaker 3: this time of your fun when you bring.
- 16:30Speaker 12: A new team together, trying to figure out what role
- 16:32Speaker 12: people can play, and I think it's exciting for the coaches,
- 16:35Speaker 12: but it's also exciting for.
- 16:37Speaker 3: The players just to kind of where they fit into
- 16:38Speaker 3: the to the puzzle.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Last year, you try to take the test player available
- 16:45Speaker 4: from the lock that you have.
- 16:47Speaker 3: This year, you were able to kind of look at
- 16:49Speaker 3: different positions. How was it different for you?
- 16:51Speaker 12: Yeah, I think we got a good balance of shooting
- 16:54Speaker 12: and slashing and big you know, I mean, I think
- 16:56Speaker 12: we've made had some big improvement just with our own guys.
- 17:00Speaker 3: You know, I think Jamie Vince has come a long
- 17:01Speaker 3: wrong way. It's really improved. But you know, last year
- 17:05Speaker 3: we took a lot of shooting, not a lot of straight.
- 17:07Speaker 12: This year we'll have a little more positional size, and
- 17:11Speaker 12: we have true slashers and vanished creators and and you know,
- 17:14Speaker 12: the ladies of the season goes, you're gonna need guys
- 17:16Speaker 12: that can kind of get some bucket and I think
- 17:18Speaker 12: we've got some guys that can do that.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Go just interviewed one of them. You know that one
- 17:22Speaker 3: of the religious scores knows.
- 17:23Speaker 12: How to put the ball in the hole when the
- 17:25Speaker 12: covers just really tight as a season go you wrong?
- 17:28Speaker 5: And how how much you rotated guys last year?
- 17:30Speaker 6: Do you feel like the deep is the same better
- 17:33Speaker 6: than the last year?
- 17:35Speaker 12: Well, you know, we still don't have McKenzie out there,
- 17:37Speaker 12: and we still don't have.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Zach out there.
- 17:39Speaker 12: So you put those out there, and you know, you
- 17:41Speaker 12: look like you got you can find ten good players
- 17:43Speaker 12: that can play, you know, I mean, now that's to
- 17:46Speaker 12: be determined.
- 17:47Speaker 3: I mean, just on that floor.
- 17:48Speaker 12: You got to have everybody buying into playing hard unselfish.
- 17:51Speaker 12: We certainly have enough talent to play ten guys, you know,
- 17:54Speaker 12: and so it's a that's.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Up to them.
- 17:57Speaker 13: How close is how close is McKenzie And just what's
- 17:59Speaker 13: kind of sackback right now?
- 18:01Speaker 3: He just he had the surgery aft of the season.
- 18:03Speaker 12: He'll be back here like early July, and McKenzie's pretty close.
- 18:06Speaker 12: He'll be back here in July as well.
- 18:08Speaker 3: So he's been doing all this stuff with just non contact.
- 18:13Speaker 3: He was unbelievable the practice before this one.
- 18:17Speaker 12: He was just okay today, but he was really really
- 18:20Speaker 12: one of the better practices I've ever seen to him have.
- 18:23Speaker 3: But what I appreciate most of PJ Man he's trying
- 18:26Speaker 3: to make the right play. Like he you know, is
- 18:28Speaker 3: a lead.
- 18:28Speaker 12: Return score in college basketball, so you would think he
- 18:31Speaker 12: would just be searching for shots, but he's really tried
- 18:33Speaker 12: to make the right play and play hard and on
- 18:37Speaker 12: both sides of the ball. Like I mean, he came here,
- 18:39Speaker 12: he wants to win, and I mean he knows if
- 18:41Speaker 12: he wants to win, like you know, he's got to
- 18:43Speaker 12: involve others and he's been trying to do that more
- 18:47Speaker 12: and I think he's gonna pay off our team.
- 18:49Speaker 6: What was his recruitment in the kind of process how
- 18:52Speaker 6: y'all spotted that he could be interested and look that relationship.
- 18:56Speaker 12: Yeah, well, you know, our coach is do a great job.
- 18:59Speaker 12: Frank had a relationship a little bit with his father
- 19:02Speaker 12: and you know he you know, he's.
- 19:05Speaker 3: A Houston kids is right down the road.
- 19:07Speaker 12: A lot of schools were after him and he when
- 19:10Speaker 12: it comes to place he could win and this was
- 19:12Speaker 12: close to home, which help play style matter, you know,
- 19:15Speaker 12: because he was the best years or when it's an
- 19:17Speaker 12: up and down system. But I mean, you know, as
- 19:20Speaker 12: long as I've coached basketball, I've never seen players that
- 19:22Speaker 12: are really happy if they don't win.
- 19:25Speaker 3: They don't like the people they're doing.
- 19:26Speaker 12: It with, and they don't see themselves playing in the
- 19:29Speaker 12: role that they saw themselves.
- 19:30Speaker 3: That usually relates to play style, right. If you're an
- 19:32Speaker 3: up and down player.
- 19:33Speaker 12: And you're playing half court basketball, it's husually difficult transition.
- 19:37Speaker 12: So in his last year, he wanted to check all
- 19:38Speaker 12: the box.
- 19:39Speaker 11: You're looking at that port of class with there any
- 19:41Speaker 11: I don't know, with any surprises.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Surprise gets for you guys when you look back on
- 19:44Speaker 3: to be able to bring in those these guys are
- 19:47Speaker 3: what they what they were.
- 19:49Speaker 12: We do obviously a lot of deep dive when we
- 19:52Speaker 12: were recruiting players.
- 19:55Speaker 3: You don't know how well some of the mid major
- 19:57Speaker 3: guys will adjust until they're here.
- 20:00Speaker 12: Sometimes it's just an adjustment for him until they can
- 20:02Speaker 12: kind of get their sea legs under him. But you know,
- 20:05Speaker 12: coming from mid major, you know you have Shelley who
- 20:09Speaker 12: just had a we're going to practice two times, he's
- 20:11Speaker 12: been out angered. Who's gonna be a really good player
- 20:13Speaker 12: for US, art Tyshawn Archie Archie and he's a flaker.
- 20:17Speaker 3: It reminds me of the kid at the Hollow Hilloway
- 20:21Speaker 3: from Alabama, the little dude bomber. They were really shooting
- 20:24Speaker 3: in Coach Lucas Wallash.
- 20:25Speaker 12: He's a mid major kid in at Samford and he
- 20:27Speaker 12: was always been a forty percent plus three point shooter.
- 20:30Speaker 3: So the easiest thing for mid major guys when they transfer,
- 20:34Speaker 3: and this is what I look at obviously, is shooting them.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Always transfer right now. If you can shoot the ball,
- 20:39Speaker 3: it's going to transfer.
- 20:40Speaker 14: Now.
- 20:40Speaker 12: If you were some mid major slasher, you know, sometimes
- 20:44Speaker 12: besides of the sec can swallow you up and that
- 20:46Speaker 12: don't translate as well. Indeed, but these guys can shoot it.
- 20:48Speaker 12: And Shelley's an elite player because he can slash, but
- 20:51Speaker 12: he can also see the floor a little well.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Len is the.
- 20:53Speaker 15: Approach this summer beas the last time he didn't.
- 20:57Speaker 7: Have number five at least were the first.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been good.
- 21:02Speaker 12: I mean, we just started getting more into offense here
- 21:04Speaker 12: this past four practices. We've done a little bit more defense,
- 21:08Speaker 12: but so so it's just been it's been better. We'll
- 21:11Speaker 12: be better earlier. I mean, let me just say this.
- 21:14Speaker 12: We should be more rady to play earlier.
- 21:15Speaker 3: In the season.
- 21:16Speaker 12: And we're going to take a little trip to the
- 21:18Speaker 12: Bahamas and play three games down there in August, and
- 21:22Speaker 12: we got to be ready to play earlier.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I mean, our non league schedule is going to be good.
- 21:25Speaker 3: And then we just got the the SEC schedule.
- 21:27Speaker 12: We'll have the second I think the SEC this year
- 21:29Speaker 12: because of a lot of money we spent on rosters
- 21:32Speaker 12: this year. I mean, and the SEC has been the
- 21:35Speaker 12: last the best league the last two three years, will
- 21:37Speaker 12: be the best league this year, and I think it'll
- 21:39Speaker 12: be the best it's.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Ever been this year. And when I look at it and.
- 21:42Speaker 12: We just got the schedule back what our schedule be,
- 21:45Speaker 12: and we'll have the second partest schedule in the league.
- 21:48Speaker 12: So it's going to be a tough, tough schedule, which
- 21:51Speaker 12: is I should wake the upbrate of practice, right, So
- 21:53Speaker 12: I know we lost. So you know, our two play
- 21:55Speaker 12: opponent in the years and last year was Oklahoma, will
- 21:59Speaker 12: go to this year'll be Las, thank you Texas, and
- 22:01Speaker 12: then we'll go to Vanderbilt. So at home for our games,
- 22:04Speaker 12: we'll have, you know, Vanderbilts to project the top fifteen
- 22:07Speaker 12: team in a lot of people's minds. LSU would be
- 22:09Speaker 12: really good, tex waull be really good obviously, play all
- 22:12Speaker 12: those teams at home, and then we got to come
- 22:14Speaker 12: into the house Arkansas, we got Alabama, we got Auburn,
- 22:19Speaker 12: we got Georgia.
- 22:20Speaker 3: And we got Tennessee coming. I'm leaving a couple out.
- 22:23Speaker 12: And then you go on the road to Florida, to Missouri,
- 22:26Speaker 12: to Kentucky, all hard places to play, Ole miss Mission,
- 22:29Speaker 12: the state, South Carolina.
- 22:30Speaker 3: So very tough schedule.
- 22:32Speaker 12: So these guys, that's what gets you going that last
- 22:36Speaker 12: year's team, which you believe it because we're trying to
- 22:38Speaker 12: eat I know it's Rainey but have.
- 22:39Speaker 7: You seen anybody else kind of blossom into that role yet?
- 22:43Speaker 12: You know, it really needs to come first from the returners,
- 22:45Speaker 12: But unfortunately some of these guys haven't been out there
- 22:48Speaker 12: besides Jamie. And then Niko is obviously here as a
- 22:51Speaker 12: as a gray shirt freshman. But you know, we got
- 22:54Speaker 12: to see Zach and McKenzie get back and take ownership
- 22:57Speaker 12: in that. I've known Lucas Wall for a long time.
- 23:00Speaker 12: He's gonna lead by example and vocal in Wasted. He
- 23:03Speaker 12: knows our system. He played from at Stanford a couple
- 23:05Speaker 12: of years ago. I recruited since he was sixteen years old.
- 23:08Speaker 12: He can play in the SEC because he can shoot
- 23:12Speaker 12: the ball and he's strong enough. And then I know
- 23:14Speaker 12: Kate Phillip for a long time and he was a
- 23:16Speaker 12: captain of the Tennessee team when they went to the
- 23:19Speaker 12: lead AD a couple of years ago.
- 23:21Speaker 3: So I expect big things from them.
- 23:23Speaker 12: Known Jalen res actually coach Jalen Reese and the Jordans
- 23:26Speaker 12: coach with his dad and the Jordan Classics.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I've known his family a long time. He's got leadership
- 23:31Speaker 3: as a point guard.
- 23:33Speaker 12: And then Pj's obviously been a leader out here as well,
- 23:35Speaker 12: so they're doing their different ways. Now Rashan had a
- 23:38Speaker 12: different way of doing it. It's hard to replace with
- 23:40Speaker 12: Sean a collective who We've got to find a way.
- 23:42Speaker 3: You mentioned a lot of money he's spent across the
- 23:44Speaker 3: se secret rosters. Do you have an idea of what
- 23:46Speaker 3: a competitive rosters worked this year? Well, i'd say y'all
- 23:51Speaker 3: go look at with Sean Miller said, I think that's
- 23:53Speaker 3: pretty much accurate.
- 23:54Speaker 12: You know what he said with where people are and
- 23:58Speaker 12: just what people some places are spending. You know, my
- 24:02Speaker 12: ovel and mentioned this the other day, is just where's
- 24:05Speaker 12: the threshold for longevity of what we're trying to accomplish.
- 24:09Speaker 12: And that's always a deal, of course for schools that
- 24:11Speaker 12: want to be good at multiple sports, and so.
- 24:13Speaker 3: I'm not even talking about us. We certainly wanted to
- 24:15Speaker 3: get at multiple sports.
- 24:16Speaker 12: But I think that's where, you know, that's where you
- 24:20Speaker 12: really try to pay attention to where does where you
- 24:23Speaker 12: and the green or where you becoming the red.
- 24:24Speaker 3: At some point. But in a sport like men's basketball
- 24:27Speaker 3: that for the most part is usually been profitable, we'll
- 24:29Speaker 3: see if you can be profitable going forward price and
- 24:31Speaker 3: officially then getting clearance spending in ci A. No, we
- 24:34Speaker 3: we're waiting on his waiver status. So we're waiting to
- 24:37Speaker 3: see right now, give an ideas when you don't make
- 24:39Speaker 3: it that sometime in the next month we host Yell.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Start the season stronger as a big part of that,
- 24:50Speaker 6: and you think you guys will.
- 24:51Speaker 15: Learn a lot about the team then.
- 24:52Speaker 12: And then what do you hope the guds do? You
- 24:55Speaker 12: get a little more practice time and then obviously playing games.
- 24:58Speaker 12: You know, Uh, teams that I've coached, I don't know
- 25:02Speaker 12: why the first two three games of the year, we've
- 25:05Speaker 12: never we have a big jump after.
- 25:07Speaker 3: The first three or four games. Literally every team I've coached.
- 25:09Speaker 12: We've got to coach a team at Sanford years ago
- 25:12Speaker 12: that lost our first two games and we were awful
- 25:15Speaker 12: in the first couple, and then we went on around
- 25:17Speaker 12: seventeen in a row. Last year we were very similar, right,
- 25:19Speaker 12: we we about two at first four, then we you know,
- 25:21Speaker 12: had a good run there.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Hopefully we go to the Bahamas if we.
- 25:25Speaker 12: Lose those first two down there because they don't count, right,
- 25:27Speaker 12: and then we're ready to go.
- 25:28Speaker 3: But now I think it'll be good. I think it's
- 25:29Speaker 3: good team bonding. We say something. I'm sorry, pre did okay,
- 25:32Speaker 3: the three non conference scheduling stuff. You could tell us
- 25:35Speaker 3: six second team. Yeah, I can forget off the top
- 25:37Speaker 3: of my head.
- 25:37Speaker 12: I know we're gonna play in the Battle of Atlantis
- 25:40Speaker 12: or the Return of the Bahamas.
- 25:42Speaker 3: They guess untill wherever they had to do. They listen
- 25:44Speaker 3: to Atlanta.
- 25:46Speaker 12: We're gonna play Zavier and we're gonna play Marquette down there.
- 25:49Speaker 12: We're playing TCU at TCU. We had the acc challenge.
- 25:53Speaker 12: They gave us Stanford in that one.
- 25:55Speaker 3: We got Oklahoma state here at home. Even one of
- 26:00Speaker 3: the one of the power files out there, a state
- 26:02Speaker 3: larda state larders state. We'll play them here here in Texas.
- 26:06Speaker 3: They not, I believe Houston, right. Two trips to the Bahamas,
- 26:10Speaker 3: two trips to the Bahamas.
- 26:13Speaker 16: I know you'll still have a roster spot over in
- 26:16Speaker 16: an if so are y'all are you all gonna do
- 26:17Speaker 16: anything with it?
- 26:18Speaker 12: We're kind of a waiting see. You know, we got
- 26:20Speaker 12: a we got a roster spot. We're waiting to see
- 26:22Speaker 12: and we may feel.
- 26:22Speaker 3: It, we may not, you know, is Marcus the situation
- 26:26Speaker 3: kind of dependent on that.
- 26:26Speaker 6: In a way.
- 26:27Speaker 12: We'll wait on Marcus situation, but you know, you know
- 26:33Speaker 12: it's a half courts it's it's minimally a half courts
- 26:35Speaker 12: shot for that one.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Feel like the element of surprise is kind of.
- 26:39Speaker 14: Gone with last year.
- 26:40Speaker 17: We're all us learning Buck Bull.
- 26:43Speaker 14: Feel like opponents, we're going to know.
- 26:44Speaker 6: What Bucky Bull is and it is.
- 26:46Speaker 12: You know, I think everybody's going to adjust and in
- 26:49Speaker 12: their own way and be better. But hopefully we're better
- 26:51Speaker 12: at what we do, right, you know, I mean i'd
- 26:53Speaker 12: say this. I mean, uh, Nate went to the Ocean
- 26:57Speaker 12: at Bama. They went to the first year in the league,
- 26:59Speaker 12: they were pretty decent.
- 27:00Speaker 3: The next year they won the SEC. Right, We're at Samford.
- 27:02Speaker 3: We had our worst year was our first year, and
- 27:04Speaker 3: then we went on to have our best years after that.
- 27:07Speaker 3: So everybody gets more familiar to what to what you do.
- 27:11Speaker 12: But the most important thing is are your players doing
- 27:13Speaker 12: what they do the best And that's what matters the most.
- 27:15Speaker 12: I can promise you, no matter who we play, gonna
- 27:18Speaker 12: be more ready for what we.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Do than our players are ready to do what we do.
- 27:21Speaker 12: And that goes in reversed, right, I mean, you know,
- 27:23Speaker 12: like we play Florida, like we can know what they do.
- 27:26Speaker 12: But they're gonna know a pre day and good too,
- 27:28Speaker 12: So we just got to find a way.
- 27:29Speaker 18: To toughen up and stop them somewhere more curious for
- 27:33Speaker 18: tonight at me a draft, like how badly do you
- 27:36Speaker 18: like to build this stup to where you know you're
- 27:39Speaker 18: getting that exposure from Aggie's getting drafted.
- 27:41Speaker 6: Obviously it's kind of drought.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to build. I want to build this
- 27:45Speaker 3: up so bad that we've won won so much.
- 27:49Speaker 12: So much here that every Aggie supporter wants to support
- 27:53Speaker 12: this program so much. So we don't have any players
- 27:55Speaker 12: go in the NBA Draft because we pay them so
- 27:57Speaker 12: dang much here they never want.
- 27:58Speaker 3: To leave, you know, that's the goal.
- 28:00Speaker 12: Now, when the eligibility is done, I hope we'll hear
- 28:02Speaker 12: them in that first round and early in that first round.
- 28:05Speaker 7: That's Bucky and.
- 28:09Speaker 6: I like that we're paying players so much they don't
- 28:13Speaker 6: want to go to the NBA. A better schedule non
- 28:19Speaker 6: conference this year, the Battle for Atlantis in Nassau with
- 28:27Speaker 6: Xavier Marquette playing TCU, hosting Stanford, Oklahoma State playing Florida
- 28:35Speaker 6: State in Houston.
- 28:37Speaker 7: So six power five teams. That's good like that.
- 28:45Speaker 6: And just we talked about the schedule earlier. Schedule is
- 28:50Speaker 6: challenging in the SEC, very.
- 28:55Speaker 7: Challenging.
- 28:56Speaker 6: The league today announcing who is playing where, but not
- 29:04Speaker 6: win quite yet. Nashville will still host the postseason tournament.
- 29:13Speaker 6: They say the dates and times will be released at
- 29:16Speaker 6: a later date. It shouldn't be too terribly long. Teams
- 29:22Speaker 6: want to sell tickets and fans want to know when
- 29:26Speaker 6: games are before I think they buy everything.
- 29:31Speaker 7: But again, home and away.
- 29:32Speaker 6: They'll play LSU twice, Texas twice, Vanderbilt twice. They will
- 29:38Speaker 6: host Alabama, Arkansas, Uburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee. That is quite
- 29:43Speaker 6: a home schedule. They will play at Florida, at Kentucky, Ole,
- 29:49Speaker 6: miss Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina.
- 29:53Speaker 7: So the schedule, it'll be challenging enough, that's for sure.
- 30:00Speaker 19: Uh.
- 30:00Speaker 7: This just in Trey.
- 30:07Speaker 3: We have a.
- 30:09Speaker 6: Soccer update. It's nil nil.
- 30:14Speaker 7: Oh what a game that is?
- 30:15Speaker 12: Huh.

- 30:29Speaker 6: by and maybe get a road safety check. Belts, hoses,
- 30:33Speaker 6: fluid levels, tires, all of that maybe new tires or
- 30:38Speaker 6: just rotated, or just put some air in him for
- 30:41Speaker 6: a change.
- 30:42Speaker 7: Check the ac.
- 30:44Speaker 6: Summer is here and I don't care where you're going,
- 30:49Speaker 6: but if just to get out of the state, it's

- 33:50Speaker 15: You're well now you all right?
- 34:02Speaker 6: Welcome back, Thanks for being with us. Glad to have
- 34:04Speaker 6: you on this Thursday edition of the program. As we
- 34:10Speaker 6: mentioned earlier, it's going to be a Tuesday tradition with
- 34:14Speaker 6: Riley visiting with Ryan Targosh. Hey, we had, we had
- 34:22Speaker 6: Dusty and Rusty and they're going to be back. Actually
- 34:26Speaker 6: a week from Monday. We will not have a program
- 34:30Speaker 6: July the third week from tomorrow. It's the official office holiday,
- 34:35Speaker 6: so there'll be no program a week from tomorrow. But
- 34:42Speaker 6: Ryan and Ral, Ryan and Riley, it's easy for me
- 34:46Speaker 6: to say, are going to be on Tuesdays. But since
- 34:50Speaker 6: we didn't have a show because of Astro's, here's this week's.
- 34:54Speaker 19: Version, right, Welcome back. In My name is Riley Dorsey
- 34:58Speaker 19: and joining us again is the Brothers fellow Bombers head
- 35:00Speaker 19: coach Ryan Targosh for our weekly Bombers check in. So
- 35:04Speaker 19: Rian It's good to catch up with you again. Last
- 35:07Speaker 19: week we kind of talked about how quickly this team's
- 35:09Speaker 19: connected early on the season, and now that you'll have
- 35:12Speaker 19: another full week of game behind y'all. Where have I
- 35:15Speaker 19: seen the most growth from this team so far?
- 35:19Speaker 17: I don't think there's really any one spot that the
- 35:22Speaker 17: team has grown. I think it's been overall. To be
- 35:25Speaker 17: honest with you, it's good to see just the guys
- 35:27Speaker 17: play good baseball. I think that's what it's all about.
- 35:32Speaker 17: The guys are doing a great job of going out
- 35:36Speaker 17: there and just having fun, and that's that's what I
- 35:39Speaker 17: stressed them in Michell. We don't have there to have fun,
- 35:41Speaker 17: and normally when you're playing the game and having fun,
- 35:42Speaker 17: that's whybe you get the best baseball out of them.
- 35:45Speaker 17: So that's that's kind of where I've seen big growth
- 35:50Speaker 17: in the areas of baseball that that they're playing at.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:56Speaker 19: Absolutely, And so I will say there was this one
- 35:59Speaker 19: game that stood out to me this past week that
- 36:02Speaker 19: y'all were playing against Abilene. Y'all found y'allselves down seven
- 36:06Speaker 19: to zero pretty early on, and y'all still found a
- 36:09Speaker 19: way to come back and wins nine to seven. So
- 36:12Speaker 19: what kind of impressed you the most about the way
- 36:14Speaker 19: that the team responded in that kind of situation.
- 36:18Speaker 17: I mean, I think you just said it right there.
- 36:20Speaker 17: It was just a response. And I've told them that
- 36:22Speaker 17: from day one that it's you know, sometimes you're either
- 36:27Speaker 17: the one throwing the punches or the other teams don't
- 36:29Speaker 17: throw a punch back. And that's just how the game launched.
- 36:32Speaker 17: And of course the score showed that Eveleene started to
- 36:36Speaker 17: throw those punches early on. And I don't think the
- 36:39Speaker 17: guys are really they weren't worried. I think they were
- 36:42Speaker 17: just going up there and still sticking to the game plan,
- 36:44Speaker 17: and that's what we did. They just kept sticking to
- 36:47Speaker 17: it and then up working out in our favor. And
- 36:50Speaker 17: that goes to show you that you can't you can't
- 36:52Speaker 17: count anybody out whenever, if it's early in the game,
- 36:56Speaker 17: late in the game, you just have to play the
- 36:57Speaker 17: full nine and just whatever happens is happens.
- 37:01Speaker 19: Yeah, for sure, I feel like that kind of confidence
- 37:04Speaker 19: just really helps just if you're down, you can come
- 37:08Speaker 19: back up. And so do you think that kind of
- 37:11Speaker 19: helps y'all with these next stretch up games? Just being
- 37:14Speaker 19: more confident in general with knowing what y'all can accomplish
- 37:17Speaker 19: with this team.
- 37:19Speaker 17: I think so I believe that the confidence is built
- 37:25Speaker 17: from your preparation, and so I believe that hopefully this
- 37:30Speaker 17: last week show the guys that if we just keep
- 37:32Speaker 17: preparing the way that we have been preparing for these games,
- 37:35Speaker 17: that it's just going to translate into the game if
- 37:39Speaker 17: they if they keep doing it and so and it's
- 37:42Speaker 17: it's not taking a pitch off or it's not taking
- 37:44Speaker 17: anything for granted. And I think as long I mean,
- 37:47Speaker 17: I know I probably said this a million times, but
- 37:49Speaker 17: as long as we keep playing the game the right way,
- 37:51Speaker 17: I believe things will fall and are way more chances
- 37:56Speaker 17: than not for sure that that.
- 37:59Speaker 19: Makes complete sense. Is there anything in specific that you
- 38:02Speaker 19: think y'all are trying to focus on for like the
- 38:05Speaker 19: next step for this team, or are y'all just kind
- 38:07Speaker 19: of gradually working together and becoming better.
- 38:12Speaker 17: I think it's the second one. I think it's just
- 38:14Speaker 17: overall just continue to grow and to be better. I
- 38:18Speaker 17: also stress to these guys that it's also it's not
- 38:21Speaker 17: really much about the opponent. I mean, from an outside perspective,
- 38:27Speaker 17: you know, we are playing an opponent we're playing a
- 38:29Speaker 17: different team, but we're also playing the game within the game.
- 38:34Speaker 17: I think I've said this before on the first first
- 38:36Speaker 17: interview that you still have to compete against yourself and
- 38:39Speaker 17: both strikes as a pitcher, as a hitter, you still
- 38:43Speaker 17: have to get the ball in the strike zone and
- 38:44Speaker 17: swing a good pitches. And so as long as we
- 38:47Speaker 17: can continue to grow and get better playing the game
- 38:51Speaker 17: within the game, I think the outcome is or we're
- 38:54Speaker 17: going to get the desired outcome and not try to
- 38:57Speaker 17: force the outcome to happen. It's just going and play
- 39:00Speaker 17: the game within the game.
- 39:02Speaker 19: Yeah, for sure, definitely just still and confidence over anything.
- 39:07Speaker 19: So before I let you go, for for fans who
- 39:10Speaker 19: maybe haven't made it out to Naviasoda yet this season,
- 39:13Speaker 19: what do you think they'd enjoy most about watching this
- 39:16Speaker 19: group and kind of what do you hope they take
- 39:18Speaker 19: away from coming to a Bombers game.
- 39:21Speaker 17: I mean, so far with we've played eighteen games so far,
- 39:27Speaker 17: and just the atmosphere and environment that you're going to
- 39:30Speaker 17: get for a summer ball team, it's just in a
- 39:33Speaker 17: really awesome environment. I've I've definitely played enough baseball to
- 39:38Speaker 17: kind of get a feel for a good and and
- 39:42Speaker 17: maybe not so good environment, but coming to a Bomber's
- 39:46Speaker 17: ball game, it's it's really fun. You know, this this
- 39:49Speaker 17: team as far as having their personality, they're having a
- 39:54Speaker 17: they're having a funny and fun personality. So it's good
- 39:59Speaker 17: to see kind of the players get into the game
- 40:02Speaker 17: and the fans kind of feed off the players good
- 40:05Speaker 17: emotions and reactions. And so I think as far as
- 40:09Speaker 17: a fan experience and for family time, it's a super
- 40:13Speaker 17: great time, and we're hoping to get get more and
- 40:15Speaker 17: more fans out there every single game.
- 40:17Speaker 19: Yeah, it definitely sounds like a great atmosphere for everyone.
- 40:21Speaker 19: Let's see. So I'm going to kind of finish off here.
- 40:24Speaker 19: What's the kind of thing that you're most excited for
- 40:26Speaker 19: about the rest of the summer. Is it traveling to
- 40:29Speaker 19: these other games or just trying to get this certain record?
- 40:32Speaker 19: Is there anything in specific?
- 40:35Speaker 17: I think just the most important thing is just I
- 40:39Speaker 17: just call it when the day and because that's the
- 40:42Speaker 17: most important thing. It's for right now, it's the most
- 40:45Speaker 17: important thing. It's just today. And so if we just
- 40:47Speaker 17: keep stacking good days on good days, I think are
- 40:52Speaker 17: our desired outcome of wanting to win the first half
- 40:56Speaker 17: and the second half and the whole the whole entire
- 40:59Speaker 17: thing and when Anchior ship that's gonna come later down
- 41:02Speaker 17: the road. That and then just keep having fun, keep
- 41:07Speaker 17: making memories. I know as a ballplayer myself, the road
- 41:11Speaker 17: trips are always the most fun. You know, you're you're
- 41:14Speaker 17: only with a group of guys, and that's the I mean,
- 41:18Speaker 17: you're with them every single day. So as as a player,
- 41:20Speaker 17: you know, they kind of turn into family some sort
- 41:23Speaker 17: of way. And of course as a for a new
- 41:26Speaker 17: perspective for me as a coach, you know, I'm also
- 41:28Speaker 17: with them every day, so they're also some sort of family,
- 41:33Speaker 17: even though it's for a short time. Uh, I still
- 41:36Speaker 17: care for them, just to look out for them and
- 41:38Speaker 17: just want the best for them. And so it's just
- 41:40Speaker 17: making sure that even though we're playing the game and
- 41:43Speaker 17: we're competing, but we're also having fun and cherish.
- 41:46Speaker 5: And every moment we can with them.
- 41:47Speaker 19: Yeah one, and that that bond is just something that
- 41:51Speaker 19: you really you have to have to be able to
- 41:53Speaker 19: just work with as a team together.
- 41:56Speaker 17: M hm for sure. Sure.
- 41:58Speaker 19: All right, well, perfect, Well, I think that's all I
- 42:01Speaker 19: have for today. Good luck with those games this week.

- 43:37Speaker 13: Houston Astros had a pitching duel last night as they
- 43:39Speaker 13: took on the Toronto Blue Jays. Houston was able to
- 43:42Speaker 13: score run in the first via Nissak Parade as double,
- 43:45Speaker 13: but the Blue Jays would respond with the run of
- 43:47Speaker 13: their own in the first. But after that it would
- 43:50Speaker 13: remain tied at one up until the eighth inning, when
- 43:52Speaker 13: Houston scored on a pickoff error.
- 43:55Speaker 3: The nope, throw over to third pase and he throws
- 43:58Speaker 3: it away. Don't come on to into the foul round
- 44:01Speaker 3: on the left side.
- 44:03Speaker 4: That'll score a low perfeto a gift at the Ashtros
- 44:07Speaker 4: lead two to one.
- 44:08Speaker 3: What the heck was that.
- 44:11Speaker 13: Houston added an insurance run in the ninth for a
- 44:14Speaker 13: three to one victory. The Astras are now thirty nine
- 44:17Speaker 13: and forty three on the season, and the team is
- 44:19Speaker 13: in Detroit today to play the Tigers. The first pitch
- 44:21Speaker 13: schedule for five forty with your Houston Astros report.

- 45:21Speaker 7: Go dreamsic Singers.
- 45:24Speaker 3: I have always been a real.
- 45:25Speaker 7: Po Hey, thanks for being with us.
- 45:27Speaker 6: We've got our Clark Eisenhower Outdoor Edition coming up in
- 45:31Speaker 6: the second hour of the program.
- 45:33Speaker 7: You want to stay tuned for that.
- 45:34Speaker 6: We've got some weird, wild, wacky animals again today, I
- 45:39Speaker 6: thought i'd replay this interview I did a few weeks
- 45:41Speaker 6: ago with the director of the new movie Pressure.
- 45:45Speaker 7: It is still out.
- 45:47Speaker 6: It is an incredible story surrounding D Day. It is
- 45:50Speaker 6: appropriate because two point fifty is coming up next Saturday,
- 45:57Speaker 6: July the fourth. This movie I highly recommend. The movie
- 46:02Speaker 6: is called Pressure, and the director is Anthony Morris.
- 46:08Speaker 7: Anthony, how are you.
- 46:10Speaker 5: I'm doing well, So how are you going?
- 46:11Speaker 6: I'm doing great. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I went
- 46:15Speaker 6: Saturday to see it and it was just terrific and
- 46:18Speaker 6: congratulations to you.
- 46:20Speaker 5: Thank you, and good day for seeing it on.
- 46:23Speaker 6: The Absolutely, absolutely it was a great day for seeing it.
- 46:28Speaker 6: I read a little bit that that this came from
- 46:31Speaker 6: from a stage play. Am I right about that?
- 46:34Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 46:35Speaker 4: It was a stage play that did very well on
- 46:38Speaker 4: London's West End and they even played scenes for the
- 46:41Speaker 4: Queen and the presidents and prime ministers of all the
- 46:45Speaker 4: Allied nations who came together at the seventy fifth anniversary
- 46:49Speaker 4: of D Day. And so we know we're in great
- 46:53Speaker 4: debt to a fantastic play that this is based on.
- 46:55Speaker 6: And then you adopted the screenplay as I understand, did
- 47:00Speaker 6: you night.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Yes, yep, myself and the original playwright, David Hague worked
- 47:05Speaker 4: on it together.
- 47:06Speaker 6: And tell me what drew you to the project when
- 47:10Speaker 6: when you heard about it?
- 47:13Speaker 4: You know, I did consider myself a bit of a
- 47:16Speaker 4: history buff and a bit of a student of World
- 47:18Speaker 4: War Two. I had no idea that the lead up
- 47:23Speaker 4: to the you know, one of the biggest invasions or
- 47:25Speaker 4: amphibious invasions in history.
- 47:28Speaker 5: Specifically so dramatic and exciting.
- 47:30Speaker 4: I had no idea that, of all things, that came
- 47:33Speaker 4: down to a bloody weather report and you know that
- 47:37Speaker 4: ultimately decided the fate of millions of people. And yeah,
- 47:42Speaker 4: I just I just felt that the clash of personalities
- 47:46Speaker 4: of these really brilliant minds but also these really big
- 47:50Speaker 4: egos in the days leading up to the invasion could
- 47:53Speaker 4: be so captivating. And yeah, you've got these historical titans
- 47:57Speaker 4: like Eisenhower and Montgomery that we know of, but you've
- 48:01Speaker 4: also got these completely unknown figures like the meteorologist James Stagg,
- 48:05Speaker 4: who looked these men in the eyes and basically told
- 48:09Speaker 4: them the exact thing that they didn't want to hear
- 48:12Speaker 4: forty eight hours out from D Day, which is, if
- 48:14Speaker 4: you do what you're planning to do, you know most
- 48:17Speaker 4: of your men, if not all of them, are going
- 48:18Speaker 4: to die and it's something they didn't want to hear,
- 48:21Speaker 4: and then the fireworks ensued. So that was that was
- 48:26Speaker 4: a lot of what got me into it. Also, I
- 48:28Speaker 4: just thought it was very relevant to today, like just
- 48:31Speaker 4: in what it said about leadership.
- 48:32Speaker 5: And with pressure and you know, all that sort of stuff.
- 48:37Speaker 6: So, yeah, well you brought it to life beautifully. Brendan
- 48:42Speaker 6: Fraser as ike was terrific, and you mentioned I think
- 48:47Speaker 6: he captured the idea that the kind of the weight
- 48:49Speaker 6: of the world was on his decision with a literally
- 48:53Speaker 6: yeah and making a decision based on a weather forecast.
- 48:58Speaker 6: And as you mentioned, I had no idea either as
- 49:01Speaker 6: much as I've studied this that that this is what
- 49:04Speaker 6: took place the day surrounding, And to me, that's what
- 49:07Speaker 6: makes a story so compelling.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it is.
- 49:11Speaker 4: It's it's you think what these characters are going through
- 49:15Speaker 4: and they had none of the modern technology that we have,
- 49:18Speaker 4: Like think of how think of how difficult it is
- 49:21Speaker 4: to arrange your bloody wedding, let's say, and what's the
- 49:23Speaker 4: weather going to be on the wedding? But now you've
- 49:26Speaker 4: got you know, three hundred thousand soldiers and sailors and
- 49:30Speaker 4: then ultimately a million men that you've got to cross
- 49:33Speaker 4: the channel with, and you've got Nazis shooting at them,
- 49:36Speaker 4: and you've got to make the call. Do we send
- 49:39Speaker 4: them or don't we send them? If we don't, you know,
- 49:42Speaker 4: we might lose If we do, we might lose our army.
- 49:45Speaker 3: What to do?
- 49:46Speaker 4: And yeah, it's when you when you look at it
- 49:50Speaker 4: like that, it's it's kind of nuts. It's kind of dramatic.
- 49:53Speaker 6: The other thing that I thought I knew was that
- 49:56Speaker 6: that the weather certainly wasn't perfect on D Day. There
- 49:59Speaker 6: were there were certain all kinds of issues with the
- 50:03Speaker 6: low ceiling, with the wave height and trying to land
- 50:07Speaker 6: men on the beaches.
- 50:09Speaker 7: But you mentioned in the movie and.
- 50:14Speaker 6: Andrew Scott, who plays James Stagg, said, look, you're going
- 50:17Speaker 6: to have a window. I'm confident you're going to have
- 50:20Speaker 6: a window. And that I mean that no telling how
- 50:24Speaker 6: many lives that saved.
- 50:26Speaker 4: Well, they were, it's you know, it's like the proverbial,
- 50:30Speaker 4: you know, trying to pass, in this case an army
- 50:33Speaker 4: through the eye of a needle.
- 50:35Speaker 5: They had no room for error.
- 50:37Speaker 4: If they had gone on the day that they had
- 50:39Speaker 4: initially planned to, which ultimately was a day earlier, yes,
- 50:42Speaker 4: they would have been wiped off the map. But you know,
- 50:45Speaker 4: it was only till very late in the piece. It's
- 50:48Speaker 4: not like when they delayed they said, okay, well we'll
- 50:50Speaker 4: just go tomorrow. Yes, the point that they delayed, they
- 50:53Speaker 4: didn't know when they could go. They might never be
- 50:55Speaker 4: able to go, you know, they they said originally it
- 50:58Speaker 4: might not be for another few and by then the
- 51:02Speaker 4: Germans probably would have found out about it and there
- 51:04Speaker 4: would be no d day. Ultimately, the next clear patch
- 51:08Speaker 4: that they thought that they would be able to go on,
- 51:10Speaker 4: which is when the tides were in a particular way
- 51:13Speaker 4: and when the moon was a particular way, wasn't until.
- 51:16Speaker 5: June nineteenth, Yes, June eighteenth, nineteen.
- 51:20Speaker 4: And had they waited until that point, there was a
- 51:25Speaker 4: once in a forty year storm that happened at that
- 51:28Speaker 4: point that would have completely smashed them as well.
- 51:31Speaker 5: So the day that they.
- 51:32Speaker 4: Chose to go was like literally was it was the
- 51:37Speaker 4: last opportunity that they had, and you know, they bloody
- 51:41Speaker 4: got it right.
- 51:42Speaker 6: So yeah, tell our listeners about the conflict, especially between
- 51:47Speaker 6: James Stagg played by Andrew Scott and Irving Krik that
- 51:52Speaker 6: the US meteorologist.
- 51:54Speaker 5: Well, the thing is, both of.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Them were really brilliant, exceptional meteorologists, so we're both highly intelligent.
- 52:01Speaker 4: They just had very different ways of doing things. Krick
- 52:05Speaker 4: had worked with had worked with the Allies all through
- 52:07Speaker 4: North Africa. Was an extremely accomplished meteorologist, but he just
- 52:13Speaker 4: had a very different way of doing things. He looked
- 52:15Speaker 4: back to historical records and try to extrapolate from what
- 52:20Speaker 4: the weather had done in the past, ye what it
- 52:21Speaker 4: was going to do now, whereas SAG was taking massive
- 52:26Speaker 4: amounts of data as much as they could from the
- 52:29Speaker 4: current conditions and trying to basically predict the weather based
- 52:34Speaker 4: on this. And ultimately one of them, SAG said, the
- 52:38Speaker 4: weather is going to be an absolute didater. Krick said,
- 52:42Speaker 4: you know, what are you talking about. It's going to
- 52:44Speaker 4: be sunshine and the rainbows throughout that week.
- 52:47Speaker 5: Yep.
- 52:49Speaker 4: And then you've got Eisenhower forced to decide between these
- 52:52Speaker 4: two completely different opinions, and you know he had.
- 52:57Speaker 5: Reason to believe both of them.
- 52:58Speaker 4: They both were exceptional meteorologists, both proven, but ultimately he
- 53:05Speaker 4: had the wisdom to you to choose correctly. And the
- 53:09Speaker 4: film takes us through how it is that he got
- 53:12Speaker 4: to that decision. Like in many ways, you know, it's
- 53:16Speaker 4: a war story, but it's also just a story about
- 53:19Speaker 4: exceptional decision making, no doubt about about how a leader
- 53:24Speaker 4: you know, really comes to a considered decision that hopefully
- 53:28Speaker 4: will benefit the lives of millions as opposed to kill them.
- 53:33Speaker 6: So what did you learn about k Summers Be played
- 53:36Speaker 6: by Kerrie Condon as the Eisenhower's aid.
- 53:40Speaker 5: Well, what I was shocked by was just how tough
- 53:43Speaker 5: this woman was.
- 53:45Speaker 4: Her husband was killed in service in World War Two,
- 53:50Speaker 4: and you know, she didn't just go on, you know,
- 53:54Speaker 4: shirk off into the night.
- 53:55Speaker 5: She said, well, I'm going to I'm going to contribute myself.
- 53:59Speaker 4: And she started driving ambulances and driving both dead bodies
- 54:03Speaker 4: and very injured people through the blitz in London. She
- 54:09Speaker 4: got some notice there for doing really well there, and
- 54:12Speaker 4: she ultimately ended up driving senior staff members and ultimately Eisenhower.
- 54:17Speaker 4: And she was a she you know, rose He rose
- 54:20Speaker 4: through the ranks and kind of became quite an influential
- 54:24Speaker 4: figure in the background in so far as Eisenhower was concerned.
- 54:29Speaker 4: If you look at a lot of old photos from
- 54:31Speaker 4: the time where Ike is meeting with de gaul or
- 54:34Speaker 4: Stalin or Chiritull, you see there in the background, and
- 54:37Speaker 4: she was this figure that he could trust and that
- 54:41Speaker 4: he could speak to. She later claimed that they had
- 54:45Speaker 4: a very passionate relationship, the two of them, in a
- 54:48Speaker 4: book that was written just before she died. So there
- 54:51Speaker 4: was there was like a whole confluence of things that
- 54:55Speaker 4: were going on between them in the store, in the
- 54:58Speaker 4: in the period that our film takes place in the
- 55:01Speaker 4: lead up to D Day.
- 55:03Speaker 5: It very much gets into how.
- 55:05Speaker 4: She was pretty critical, yes, in being able to work
- 55:10Speaker 4: through his thinking and just see how it was that
- 55:14Speaker 4: he felt about the other people around him and who
- 55:16Speaker 4: he could trust, and she was pretty critical to that process.
- 55:19Speaker 6: The book the movie is called Pressure. Anthony, I really
- 55:24Speaker 6: enjoyed it. It's out right now. It's a terrific movie.
- 55:27Speaker 6: Thanks so much for your time.
- 55:29Speaker 5: Thank you so much, appreciate it.
- 55:30Speaker 6: That was Anthony Maras, the director of the movie Pressure.
- 55:35Speaker 6: Highly recommend that Brendan Fraser is the lead as Eisenhower.
- 55:40Speaker 6: It is terrific and a terrific story, as I mentioned
- 55:44Speaker 6: that I did not know about, and a good time
- 55:47Speaker 6: to go right now. I went to watch it, by
