- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, Demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam Smith in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:43hypnosis session all about fatigue.
- 0:46And if you're not familiar with the word fatigue, it's more than
- 0:49tiredness. It's a physical inability to
- 0:53harness and access the energy or the clarity that you actually
- 0:58need and a lot of the time. Fatigue is.
- 1:01Accompanied with things. Like.
- 1:04Inflammation or brain? Fog.
- 1:06And other horrible symptoms as well.
- 1:09Quite often it's linked to autoimmune issues, things like
- 1:13Lyme. Disease and fibromyalgia.
- 1:16In this particular case though, the client.
- 1:18I was working with had. Post COVID fatigue and because
- 1:23of that they felt very, very impeded by their ability to live
- 1:29life on their. Terms and.
- 1:31When you've try to improve it and been punished sometimes by
- 1:36having a crash or a set back, it feels scary to have hope.
- 1:41It feels dangerous. To be optimistic, just in case
- 1:46you get your hopes up and come crashing down.
- 1:50And this hypnosis session uses metaphors, metaphors of the
- 1:54Savannah, to help this client. See themselves.
- 1:58Through the perspective of a story rather than themself and
- 2:03how the lion deals with different things.
- 2:07It has some fairy tale connotations like there is a a
- 2:11curse or a spell that's been cast on this and at its core
- 2:16this is a hypnosis session about reframe.
- 2:19It's about in many cases something horrible happens.
- 2:22You can either be a victim or a survivor.
- 2:26You can feel like The thing is a curse or it could even be a gift
- 2:30in some way, even if you don't know what the gift is yet.
- 2:34And there's lots of different reframes.
- 2:36So what this session does is identify a lot of the
- 2:41disempowering beliefs or meanings given to things like an
- 2:47illness that is chronic and just seems to keep on going on, not a
- 2:51temporary thing. Most people can deal with
- 2:54breaking a bone. Or.
- 2:56Having a sickness like a virus for a period of time, but when
- 3:00things feel like they're going to be like that way forever, it
- 3:03can create feelings of hopelessness or helplessness.
- 3:07Or frustration. Or even anger and resentment,
- 3:11all of which can actually impede with the ability to heal and
- 3:15recalibrate. There's a bit going on here.
- 3:17So if you can relate to the idea of feeling drained, fatigued.
- 3:22You don't. Have the energy to even do basic
- 3:24things. I think this session will give
- 3:27you something and what I would encourage you to do.
- 3:29And at the end there was a panning for gold metaphor
- 3:32because. Not.
- 3:33All of these beliefs or ideas have to resonate with you.
- 3:38You can take what is resonating or helpful and disregard what
- 3:43isn't. Because the problem with
- 3:45empowering belief systems is it can feel every now and then that
- 3:49it is invalidating the experience.
- 3:53You have that connotation with positive psychology and self
- 3:56improvement that if you can achieve anything, then if you're
- 4:00not, somehow you are to blame or in the wrong.
- 4:03And that's why this is designed to be inspirational rather than
- 4:09feeling like, well, you have to do these things.
- 4:12It creates the idea of a possibility frame rather than a
- 4:16feeling that these are additional things to do.
- 4:19Because if you've got fatigue, having a list of more things to
- 4:23do isn't that helpful because you would like to be able to do
- 4:26them. Going on here.
- 4:28Now. This was created for an
- 4:31individual client. Some of the suggestions would be
- 4:34perfect for them and not quite right for you.
- 4:36If you like the idea of working with me, what I'm going to
- 4:38encourage you to do is to look for the suitability test in the
- 4:43description and there you can take a quick test and it will
- 4:46just let you know how suitable you are for hypnosis and explain
- 4:51what to do after that if you would be a suitable candidate
- 4:55for hypnosis. For now though, find a quiet,
- 4:57comfortable place where you won't be distracted or
- 5:00disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:10Take a deep. Breath in, and as you breathe
- 5:16in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:25And as you exhale, feel that wonderful feeling of release, as
- 5:37if any tension, stress, and worry is leaving your body in
- 5:44your outward breath. Breathing in that wonderful
- 5:49feeling of calm, relaxation, and giving permission to just let go
- 6:00incrementally of any feelings that are impeding your ability.
- 6:09Any fatigue, any thoughts that feel like they're a drain, just
- 6:17allow them to be released and feel them leaving your body in
- 6:24your outward breath. And before any story begins,
- 6:37notice the rhythm of your breathing.
- 6:43And you don't need to change it, but you may notice if each
- 6:49breath gets longer, deeper, or slower.
- 6:56Just notice it arriving and leaving.
- 7:03Perhaps there's something deeply reassuring about an exhale.
- 7:10An exhale is not effort. Consider it release, and as you
- 7:19allow this next breath out, give permission for it to be slightly
- 7:25longer than the one before. Not forced, just unhurried.
- 7:39And as the breath leaves, imagine your body settling by a
- 7:46fraction of 1%. Not heavy, not sleepy, just less
- 7:53braced, less tense. Maybe your jaw loosens slightly,
- 8:01or your tongue rests more comfortably in the mouth, or
- 8:07those tiny muscles behind your eyes start to release, loosen
- 8:12and relax. And if there has been a subtle
- 8:17vigilance in your system, almost like it's waiting to see what
- 8:23your body will do next, give permission for that vigilance to
- 8:30just stand down, to dial down their intensity.
- 8:40Then you are not required to perform here, no need to
- 8:45improve. You are simply here.
- 8:51And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you feel.
- 9:00And the more relaxed you feel, the deeper you breathe.
- 9:04And as your body relaxes, your imagination can go on that
- 9:09adventure. So let's return to that wide
- 9:15African plain. Not the harshness of the midday
- 9:20sun, but that late afternoon light, golden, low and slow.
- 9:32And there is no urgency in this landscape.
- 9:37The grass moves with the wind, the clouds drift without agenda,
- 9:45and I wonder if you can imagine the sky and notice how
- 9:51effortlessly it changes shape. And nothing in the sky resists
- 9:59becoming something else. A cloud can become mist, light
- 10:06can become shadow, and day can become dusk.
- 10:14And I wonder if somewhere inside you a thought can emerge.
- 10:21An idea that change does not always require force.
- 10:28Sometimes change just requires time and space.
- 10:34And as that thought settles, if your body descends another
- 10:40level, if tan is alert and upright and one is deeply inward
- 10:50and safe, imagine what number you are now.
- 10:57And just imagine on every outward breath, you reduce that
- 11:04number by 1. Maybe A7 becomes a six, or a six
- 11:13becomes a 5. And there's no need to reach the
- 11:17bottom, no need to be one or zero.
- 11:21Just drifting lower is enough. And maybe your shoulders relax a
- 11:28bit more, or your heartbeat feels less central and more
- 11:35background. And just like when you were a
- 11:40child listening to stories, I wonder if you could imagine
- 11:45being there on the African plains, overhearing the tribal
- 11:52leader tell the story. In this Kingdom, there is a
- 12:00lion. Not young, not old, strong
- 12:07wants. In obvious ways.
- 12:11The lion was fast, certain, instinctive.
- 12:16And then something altered. The strange spell moved through
- 12:23him, not visible but undeniable. The lion's limbs felt heavier
- 12:33before he chose to move, and the lion's breath shortened before
- 12:39the run began and the lion's energy arrived late and left
- 12:45early, and the lion wondered if the sun had turned against him.
- 12:54The lion thought he was cursed, because curses explain what the
- 13:00pride cannot. A curse can mean that something
- 13:07external struck you, something unfair, something chosen without
- 13:14consent. And when the lion believed it
- 13:18was a curse, he felt angry. Frustrated.
- 13:25He battled the curse, the lion forced movement, compensated by
- 13:33proving strength, ignored signals, and beneath the lion's
- 13:42paws he found quicksand. And the more he struggled, the
- 13:50deeper he sank. Not because he was weak, because
- 13:57quicksand responds to panic with gravity.
- 14:03And one day the lion, exhausted from proving himself, stopped.
- 14:11Not in surrender, but in recalibration.
- 14:18He widened his stance, spread his weight, slowed his
- 14:24breathing, and something subtle happened.
- 14:30The sinking slowed and very soon he was out of the quicksand, but
- 14:41realized something that permanently changed.
- 14:45How the Lion thought that this terrain cannot be conquered,
- 14:52instead it must be navigated. And as day turned to dusk,
- 15:04figures emerged across the plain, guiding him inward
- 15:10through altered awareness and separating fear from fact.
- 15:19Day by day the line changed gradually, and for a while the
- 15:32lion thought long and hard. The lion thought they were the
- 15:38lion that this happened to, but the sentence was unfinished.
- 15:50Instead of feeling like a cursed lion that something happened to,
- 15:57the lion felt that they were so strong, so resilient, that they
- 16:05were the lion who endured some inner wisdom, perhaps influenced
- 16:15by the visitors, but deep down nonetheless knew that victims
- 16:21are defined by events and survivors were defined by
- 16:27continuation. And because the lion continued
- 16:33through doubt, through humiliation, through
- 16:38uncertainty, the lion concluded they must be a survivor.
- 16:50The frustration was still there. This lack of energy wounded him,
- 16:57and that was real. But it also revealed which
- 17:04alliances mattered, which of the friends were real, which
- 17:11impulses were reckless, what they really valued in life.
- 17:21The lion learned which parts of his identity were noise and
- 17:27accepted they never wanted this. It impeded their.
- 17:37Ability to live life, but it didn't refine him.
- 17:50And at some level, the lion started to wander.
- 17:56What if this curse is a gift? What if it's meant to teach?
- 18:05What if it's meant to benefit in some strange way that they
- 18:10couldn't understand at that point in time?
- 18:12And when he thought of the word curse again, it felt bitter,
- 18:23closed and final. But another possibility emerged.
- 18:33What if this was initiation disguised as misfortune?
- 18:41He knew that Young Lions prove themselves through force,
- 18:44strength, and energy, but seasoned lions lead through
- 18:50discernment. And what if this was not
- 18:54punishment, but an invitation? An unwanted invitation, but
- 19:03still a wonderful, powerful, meaningful catalyst.
- 19:13The lion thought of things in the past that once were
- 19:17problems, but when they thought of them as a challenge, the
- 19:24problem became more appealing. Because a problem blocks the
- 19:32road, the challenge shapes the road.
- 19:39Terrain is not personal. A hill is not betrayal, it's
- 19:45just an incline. And the lion began to see his
- 19:51condition not as an enemy, but as a landscape.
- 19:57Some days were firm and others were marshland.
- 20:04Some felt stable, some did feel like quicksand.
- 20:11And every now and then he really believed that the spell was
- 20:14punishing him. But punishes wound without
- 20:19explanation, whereas teachers aim to guide.
- 20:27And what if this period of his life was guiding him, changing
- 20:34beliefs and values, priorities and goals?
- 20:41What if this season taught him when to rest before collapse,
- 20:47how to value shade as much as sunlight, how to listen for
- 20:52early signals, and how to ask for support without shame?
- 21:01Punishment destroys. Teaching grows, and the Lion
- 21:12felt that he had grown. The adversity, the difficulty,
- 21:20it all helped him in some strange way.
- 21:26And then one evening he climbed that great rock, slower than
- 21:33years before, but steady, and the lion started.
- 21:40Imagine a future. And that future lion seems
- 21:50strong, resilient, powerful. And I want you to get a sand
- 22:02then. Some things are not good or bad,
- 22:12it just depends on the meaning. The water from a great lake can
- 22:20mean hydration, it could mean cleaning, but it can mean death
- 22:33if an animal drowns in the water.
- 22:38And if one thing can represent life and death simultaneously,
- 22:44isn't it true that this unfortunate thing that happened
- 22:50to the lion can hold more than one meaning?
- 22:57And when the lion decided to interpret things in the most
- 23:05useful, beneficial and empowering meaning, they seem to
- 23:11feel better. And when they felt better, they
- 23:16could do more and just allow your mind to pan for gold.
- 23:25Anything within this story is useful, Then keep it and
- 23:30anything not useful discarded. Keep what's good and leave
- 23:36behind everything else. And just imagine seeing Nuggets
- 23:42of gold there in your hand. And then imagine leaving then
- 23:50tribal leader telling the story. But take the gold with you and
- 23:55imagine floating all the way back your present.
- 24:02And perhaps just one of these Nuggets of gold will give you a
- 24:08lens to see things subtly different.
- 24:12That has a wonderful ripple effect to thoughts, emotions,
- 24:19and even energy and clarity. And you don't need to know which
- 24:25one. Just be open to wonderful
- 24:30positive changes as you float back to the present.
- 24:35Take a deep breath in through your nose and down through your
- 24:39nose. Wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 24:43your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 24:46here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 24:51you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 24:58456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 25:02Open your eyes 910. Wide awake.
- 25:07Wide awake. Wide awake.
