- 0:00Woo! Welcome back to Rick and Elaine discuss
- 0:38the Bible and in particular the book of Job.
- 0:41Hello, Elaine Rae Clark. How are you today? I'm
- 0:44fine. Thank you very much. It's a bit earlier
- 0:46than usual because we're doing a two hour. So
- 0:48I'm going to have our thinking caps on. We've
- 0:51asked the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us
- 0:53into what needs to be said. And hopefully Rick,
- 0:56it's going to be something that's going to be
- 0:57beneficial to you and myself and to others that
- 0:59are listening. So together as a family, we can
- 1:02really get the understanding of what God is trying
- 1:03to say to all of us. Because like we said earlier
- 1:05on, People don't change. People don't change.
- 1:09Yeah, you're right. They don't. If you'll notice,
- 1:11I'm still the trophy husband. I haven't changed.
- 1:13I didn't notice that, but I'll tell you what,
- 1:14I just was going to ignore it really. I just
- 1:16wasn't even going to mention it. I was just going
- 1:20to bypass it. I took no notice of that at all.
- 1:23Yeah. Just, yeah. Just so you know, I am. Well,
- 1:27I mean, the thing is though, who bought you that
- 1:29mug? My wife. Did she? She bought it for me.
- 1:34Everybody know I am the trophy husband Well,
- 1:41it's better than the cup that I got from my children
- 1:43for Father's Day that said world's greatest dad
- 1:45semi -finalist My father in heaven so Right,
- 1:59right. All right, so look, here's what I'm gonna
- 2:01do. I've told everybody the whirlwind was coming,
- 2:06that this is it. And before we get into the study,
- 2:10I'm gonna read the comments, but I have a story.
- 2:12There's something that I wanna share with you
- 2:13guys. Those of you who have followed this from
- 2:18the get -go, I gotta turn this down and make
- 2:20sure it doesn't make any noise. But those who
- 2:23have followed us from the start, know that I
- 2:28was going through a lot of hardship with death
- 2:31and grief in my family and that, you know, my
- 2:36business was absolutely wrecked, you know, and
- 2:38collapsing and the embarrassment of it and the
- 2:42pride destruction, you know, all that stuff that
- 2:44comes with it. But I had a really cool full circle
- 2:48moment. And how interesting how these things
- 2:52work as we're going through this study of Job.
- 2:58Because when you get to the end of Job, you see
- 3:01something really unique, right? You see that
- 3:03he gets this double portion. But I want everybody
- 3:07to notice that he doesn't get a double portion
- 3:09of children. We're gonna talk about that too,
- 3:11towards the end of this. He has a double portion
- 3:13of livestock and stuff, but he only gains the
- 3:17same amount of children that he had before because
- 3:19those children before matter. they actually still
- 3:21matter. And it's a beautiful picture, but coming
- 3:25through all of this, here I am. And I wanna show
- 3:27you, I just wanna show you guys something, okay?
- 3:29So in this box, it says - Can you put it near
- 3:32the camera, Rick? I sure can. It says RKK. I'm
- 3:36sure you'll see a lion right there. Yeah. See
- 3:38that lion? I do. So RKK stands for a company
- 3:44called Randall King Knives. That's all it means,
- 3:46okay? And - Right after blade show I went back
- 3:50to my shop and I've been I've been getting a
- 3:53ton of orders and I'm so thankful that I'm busy
- 3:56I'm busier that I can handle actually and that's
- 3:58really good but This man calls me out of nowhere
- 4:03and he says my name is AJ. I'm with the company
- 4:06called tactical elements I'm from Ontario, Canada,
- 4:09and I'm a huge knife collector, but I also distribute
- 4:12knives. I have something I want I would like
- 4:14you to make and Could I swing by your shop and
- 4:18I was like sure like when are you gonna be around
- 4:20this area? He said I'll be there in an hour and
- 4:22I was like, oh come on by so he did and he and
- 4:25his wife Jocelyn stopped in and I got to talk
- 4:28to them for about three and a half hours, which
- 4:30was amazing We just had a nice little visit and
- 4:33although I was really really busy. I was very
- 4:35busy at the moment Normally i'm the kind of person
- 4:39like i just i can't take that kind of time to
- 4:40talk to anybody especially somebody i've never
- 4:42met but something told me i needed to just stay
- 4:45and talk to him just for a little while. When
- 4:47karen rogers has been like rick it's seek first
- 4:51the kingdom seek first the kingdom she's my prayer
- 4:53partner me and you elaine we say the same things
- 4:56like this comes up a lot. So as we're talking,
- 4:59he's like, I've got a few of these knives in
- 5:01my collection. I want to show you the one that
- 5:03I want to remake. It's something from the 1940s.
- 5:06He wants to bring it back. It's almost 100 years
- 5:07old, this design of a knife. And I'm like, that's
- 5:10cool, that's exciting. And he comes in with this
- 5:12big crate and he opens it up. And as he's going
- 5:15through all these knives, he pulls out this little
- 5:17box, okay? And he says it's one of his prized
- 5:21possessions. And he has two of these boxes. One
- 5:24of them is not here for a reason. I'll get into
- 5:26that in a minute. But he brings out these boxes,
- 5:29and he pulls it out, and he shows me this knife,
- 5:34okay? Now, I'm a knife maker, guys, so understand
- 5:37this is a knife world thing, okay? And it's very
- 5:40loud, so I'm getting ready to fire it. And it's
- 5:43a very long, beautiful knife, as you can see.
- 5:47You can't have bees in England. But anyway, no,
- 5:51you can't. No, you can't. I mean, they frighten
- 5:54me like guns frighten me. Yeah, they do. We don't
- 5:56have knives. We don't have any. Can't carry a
- 5:58knife. Can't even carry a pen knife. Can't carry
- 5:59a knife like that. No, you can carry this. You
- 6:02can. You can. We sell them in England. We sell
- 6:05them in England. It doesn't matter. I mean, they
- 6:08will. They sell great big machetes in England
- 6:09as well. Oh, yeah. You just you can't carry them.
- 6:11That's fine. That's fine. I understand why they
- 6:13scare you. But anyway. All right. So he pulls
- 6:16this out and he was like, you know, have you
- 6:18ever heard of Randall King knives? And of course
- 6:20I got super excited and I said, I have a funny
- 6:23story for you if you'd like to hear it. And he
- 6:25was like, okay. And I said, I made that knife.
- 6:28The knife that he was showing me, I actually
- 6:31made it. And I was like, and the other one was
- 6:34a black one. And I ended up giving this other
- 6:37knife to my father. But anyway, he says to me,
- 6:41what? And I said, I made that knife. There's
- 6:44a reason. It was in 2004. Randall King who made
- 6:49these knives and got famous in the knife world
- 6:50was from here from my area and he needed a production
- 6:55outfit and I worked for a company called words
- 6:57wire that actually built That constructed these
- 7:01knives and made them for him. He actually embedded
- 7:03in our shop and He was like you're kidding me
- 7:07and I said no and I was like but I have something
- 7:09I want to show you it's even better and I said
- 7:10follow me and I took him out of my office and
- 7:12I walked out on the floor and I said here where
- 7:14I'm standing is where We made them. I said you've
- 7:19come to the place where your little treasured
- 7:21possession was made Wow, and he was floored by
- 7:25that. He was so excited as a knife collector.
- 7:28He said Rick I want you to have both of these
- 7:30knives and I was like, no, I said no, it's your
- 7:33coat your collection I was like, I don't want
- 7:35the knife. I made them. It's okay But he said
- 7:39but he said he said I I am so embedded in the
- 7:45knife world and I love these kinds of stories.
- 7:47And he said it would mean a lot to me that I
- 7:49could give these back to the guy that made them.
- 7:51And I was like, well, Randall King died last
- 7:54year. And so I was like, it would have been awesome
- 7:57if you could have just met him and be like, hey,
- 7:59here's something you made, you know, 20, 22 years
- 8:02ago or whatever. But he said, I really want you
- 8:04to have it. And it was very lovely. And it was
- 8:09full circle for me. and I've gotten this influx
- 8:13like honestly and this isn't bragging listen
- 8:18to me guys be careful what you pray for Rick
- 8:19you listen that's right listen guys this isn't
- 8:22bragging no this is how it works this isn't the
- 8:28prosperity gospel because whatever I'm about
- 8:30to get right now God can take away from me at
- 8:32any moment I'm a steward of whatever it is that
- 8:35he gives me But what I've learned in all of this
- 8:38is that my relationship to him is what actually
- 8:40matters. And that's what he's always wanted with
- 8:43me and with you. Exactly. Well, I think what
- 8:46we're going to study is pointing out to you,
- 8:50basically, if you want to cover everything, God's
- 8:53saying, well, where did you get this from? Who
- 8:55gave it to you? Who can take it away? Who is
- 8:57the one that gifts it? Who is the one? I mean,
- 9:00this is what we're going to go into. You know,
- 9:03God steps into the equation here, and he's the
- 9:07only one that's talking sense. It is. And it's
- 9:10in the way that this book was written. There's
- 9:13so many things about it that just kind of blow
- 9:16my mind. Like, I'll give you a short list. Like
- 9:18the Satan character speaks in the first two chapters.
- 9:20You never hear from him again. Well, he's the
- 9:23prosecutor, isn't he? He's the prosecutor in
- 9:25the whole scenario of the court case. He's prosecuting.
- 9:28I mentioned that a lot of the words that were
- 9:31coming from him were coming out of the mouths
- 9:32of Jobe's friends along the way, right? And then
- 9:36Elihu that shows up on the scene. And then he
- 9:39just dissipates. He comes from nowhere and goes
- 9:42into nowhere. It's the strangest story. I mean,
- 9:45Jobe is such a unique story. There are things
- 9:49about it that really piqued my interest, you
- 9:52know, when he starts talking about... I suppose
- 9:54it's like anything in life, though, Rick, isn't
- 9:55it? I mean, what you really want is the basic
- 9:58meat of the story, all the flouncy bits, you
- 10:00know, like sometimes people say, well, I went
- 10:02down the shop. Oh, yeah. And I took my and I
- 10:04this really nice dress and I say, not really
- 10:06interested in the nice dress you had on unless
- 10:08it's part story, you know, otherwise you spend
- 10:10five minutes on what you took down there before
- 10:13you actually get to the real thing. And I think
- 10:15that what God's done is he's taken here the important
- 10:18information, the discussion, the heart condition.
- 10:22how they've responded and, you know, gone backwards
- 10:25and forwards, and how they've gone down different
- 10:27paths. The more they've spoken, the more their
- 10:30paths have widened. Job's gone off on one tangent,
- 10:34and they've gone off on another tangent. And
- 10:36I think that God's only giving us really what
- 10:38we need to know in our own lives. You know, it's
- 10:41the important things that really matter. You
- 10:43know, like you said, what really matters in that
- 10:45story, which was lovely, is that, wow, it shows
- 10:48you that something can be made there. You never
- 10:50know how many years later something's going to
- 10:51turn up again. that you never even would happen,
- 10:54you know, and, and you think to what's happened
- 10:56in between all of those years, you know, so much
- 10:59stuff and yet things do a full circle. It's very,
- 11:03very strange to me things, you know, and again,
- 11:06like I say, for me, the Pope, the poetry, the
- 11:09love story, I, nobody could write that unless
- 11:13it was God, nobody could inspired, you know,
- 11:16all scriptures inspired. This is inspired. And
- 11:19you can tell that because of the the poetic language
- 11:22is so deep and beautiful and it moves you. And
- 11:26you think, like I said before, I couldn't even
- 11:28write two verses that sound as beautiful as the
- 11:32two verses that I could forget any to. And it
- 11:34would have such depth of meaning. And again,
- 11:38to have 42 chapters with such depth of meaning,
- 11:43I mean, that in itself is crazy. That in itself
- 11:46is crazy. It really is. And that's what I've
- 11:52enjoyed the most about this study, obviously,
- 11:54is getting to know you more, Elaine. We've grown
- 11:58very close. Yeah, likewise. And also all of the
- 12:02people that have been on it. Stayed faithful
- 12:06with us and wanted to encourage us whether they
- 12:09might have only been here just because they wanted
- 12:10to encourage us And that's a beautiful thing
- 12:13to me 100 % but again Rick, I think to myself,
- 12:17you know, I'm not saying this because I don't
- 12:19want people to be here But I think even if nobody
- 12:21was listening I've gained so much from it myself.
- 12:24So one thing something from it and you have that's
- 12:27two people and You know, thank God that other
- 12:30people have found it useful for their lives or
- 12:34that, you know, they've gone in a little bit
- 12:35deeper that they never have done before and it's
- 12:38helped them. So again, for me, it's just totally
- 12:43opened up the idea of, you know, who am I in
- 12:46all of this? And that's why I keep saying, you
- 12:49know, at the end of the day, you know, I've stopped
- 12:51saying, help me Lord to do this, because I mean,
- 12:54as if I'm asking God to help me, you know, I'm
- 12:56just saying Lord lead me, you know, it doesn't
- 12:59say, lead us, it doesn't say help me not. to
- 13:02be tempted, it never leads me not. Exactly, only
- 13:07God can lead, only God can take us into the tree,
- 13:09only God could take us that door that we pass
- 13:11through. We can't find it on our own. And that's
- 13:13the thing for me, it's lead me in to what you
- 13:17want me to see and then how I can change because
- 13:20of it. Because it's all about becoming more and
- 13:23more like Christ, isn't it? It is. Yeah. Ultimately,
- 13:25that's what all of this is about. Yeah. That's
- 13:28what it's all about. That's the image you've
- 13:30got, isn't it? It is. All right. I'm going to
- 13:33read the comments from our last video. Everybody
- 13:36knows this is the finale. It's going to be a
- 13:37two hour special. I'm going to go ahead and warn
- 13:39you now there are going to be bathroom breaks
- 13:41and interruptions and things like that that happen.
- 13:43This is just me in a lane during our normal day
- 13:45of life. Exactly. Come and pull up a chair, put
- 13:48your feet up, get yourself a coffee and talk
- 13:50to your computer. Yeah, and it's like Elaine,
- 13:57you know, Elaine always knows whenever I'm about
- 13:58to close the study. It just means that I've got
- 14:00to go to the bathroom. That's what I do. To pee
- 14:02break. To pee break. That's right. All right.
- 14:04So this comes from Tony Driver. Hi, Tony. Thank
- 14:07you for always being here with us. Great study
- 14:10today, Rick and Elaine. I've already made three
- 14:13songs from today's study. Wow. Well, I would
- 14:16like you to sing some of them, really, Tony.
- 14:19I think that would be nice to hear you sing some
- 14:21of them. Well, she's an incredible songwriter.
- 14:25She writes all these lyrics and puts all this
- 14:26music together Even if you're using AI technology,
- 14:29it's still I promise you guys it takes a little
- 14:31bit of effort And when I say a little bit I mean
- 14:34like you got to really dig in and the fact that
- 14:36she a lot of these when you listen to these songs
- 14:38She's caught the nuggets of what we're talking
- 14:40about here in our study and it shows up in her
- 14:42songs. Yeah He says I continue to be amazed at
- 14:47the connections and insights that come out of
- 14:49job each week the discussion about a lie who's
- 14:51suffering About a lie who comma suffering comma
- 14:55the mediator comma the ransom comma and the coming
- 14:59whirlwind Gave me a lot to think about and a
- 15:02lot of songwriting inspiration. There you go
- 15:05Thank you both for the time and effort you put
- 15:08into these studies I have truly enjoyed learning
- 15:09from your insights and walking through job with
- 15:11y 'all until next time. Have a blessed week Oh
- 15:15bless you that's so sweet Tony hug. She said
- 15:18hugs from the driver family. So hug Hugs, hugs
- 15:22back, and kisses. Again, we've said it before,
- 15:26that's what it's all about. We're not two people
- 15:30sitting here telling people, we think this, we
- 15:33think that, and going backwards and forwards
- 15:35with an argument sort of thing. We're literally
- 15:38asking God to take us through these people's
- 15:41lives, their thought processes. It literally
- 15:44is getting down to the nitty gritty of what they're
- 15:47thinking. and what we can glean from it. And
- 15:49it's so lovely to see that other people can see
- 15:51that that is all we're doing really. Not here
- 15:54to tell you that I'm the be all and end all,
- 15:57because I certainly am not. But I like to give
- 16:00out what I think that God is giving to me. And
- 16:03it's nice to hear what other people have. And
- 16:05again, it's like I say, you know, I can't see
- 16:07what's behind me. Well, I know it's behind me
- 16:09since my house and I see it on the video. I don't
- 16:12know exactly what's behind you because I see
- 16:13it every week. I know, yeah. If I get in the
- 16:16right place, I look like Carmen Miranda. Oh,
- 16:19yeah. Well, I think if I'm in the right place,
- 16:21I look like Carmen San Diego. And you don't even
- 16:24know who that is. Just kidding. Carmen San Diego.
- 16:28Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? I've
- 16:30got garland around my head. I look like I'm crowned
- 16:33with a garland. I don't know if anybody's ever
- 16:35seen this painting that's behind me. This painting.
- 16:41So. anybody that knows me knows that I've been
- 16:43divorced and remarried. But my ex - Indicted
- 16:47to wedding cake. Well, yeah. My ex -wife, Kelly,
- 16:53is a very incredible artist and has been since
- 16:57we were kids. I mean, she was an artist back
- 16:59then when our kids were growing and everything.
- 17:01And after her father died, she painted this image
- 17:06and it's three. Raven or crows. These are more
- 17:10actual Ravens, but Her father Jimmy Laning who
- 17:14is my father -in -law was a very it meant a lot
- 17:17to me Loved the crows around and he talked about
- 17:21crows He knew a lot about them and anytime I'd
- 17:23go camping with him or whatever. He'd always
- 17:25tell me something about crows and She painted
- 17:28that and I actually bought it when I saw it because
- 17:31after he died She painted that and there's a
- 17:32poem that he had written and it's on the back
- 17:34of it Yeah, so I keep it in the office And I
- 17:38told Holly, my wife, today, I was like, please
- 17:42don't be mad at me, but I bought this really
- 17:44expensive thing for my ex -wife, but it's meaningful
- 17:46because of what it is. Well, the thing is, it
- 17:48doesn't really matter whether it's for your ex
- 17:49-wife, it's just a gift that she has, and it
- 17:51means something to you. So when you look at it,
- 17:54it's the picture, isn't it, rather than sort
- 17:56of like, you know, the past life that you had
- 17:58with her. And she wasn't upset at all. I mean,
- 18:00she's also the mother, this woman is the mother
- 18:02of my children, and so she knows. Oh, she knows.
- 18:05Next quote. Next next comment pastor Alan Thompson.
- 18:09Hey brother. Hi Rockstar. Yeah Another great
- 18:14episode from our Rockstar family. Thanks for
- 18:16the work that is the that the both of you put

- 18:37wonderful. As I say, I've seen photographs of
- 18:39you, which was really nice when Rick went down
- 18:41there. So I have an idea of what you all look
- 18:44like. What does your pin say? What does your
- 18:47pin say? You put your pin right in front of the
- 18:49camera. What does that pin say? Bring it over.
- 18:52Jesus loves you. Wow. That's great. All right.
- 18:57Here's the next one. My daughter bought me these
- 18:59for Christmas. That was very kind of her. Ten
- 19:02of them. Really? Yeah. Seven sons and three daughters.
- 19:06Okay, here we go. Wow. What a great study. This
- 19:08is Heather Lynn Ross. Hi, Heather. Hi, Heather.
- 19:12Wow. What a great study today. Thanks for all
- 19:14the hard work y 'all put into this study. I can't
- 19:17wait for next week. Thank you, Heather. I've
- 19:19got something funny to tell you, Elaine. I don't
- 19:21know if I told you this or not, but you need
- 19:22to know this. Okay. Are you ready? So when you,
- 19:25when you come here to stay with me in August
- 19:27and we're going to the Arkansas Eschatology Conference
- 19:30together. Yeah. Tony. Driver and her daughter
- 19:33Heather who I just quoted are gonna come up and
- 19:37they're gonna have Cameron and Jalen and their
- 19:40little baby three I call him They're gonna ride
- 19:45with us in the van out to Arkansas The baby as
- 19:50well. Yes. Oh my gosh. I mean is that gonna be
- 19:54sort of like a good thing? It's a great thing.
- 19:56Are you kidding me? All right, guys, remember
- 19:58what I said at the conference about how babies
- 20:00are allowed to cry because I'm an old school
- 20:02Baptist. And if Elaine doesn't like it, we'll
- 20:05strap her to the top of the van. That's exactly.
- 20:08I'll probably get out and hitchhike. The only
- 20:10thing is I've probably done a 15 hour flight,
- 20:12not really worked with the thing and I'll be
- 20:14like this in the car. Yes, I certainly hope so.
- 20:18So how many are going to get in that car then?
- 20:21Dude, this is a monster van. This is a monster
- 20:23van. How far back can they sit? Do you see how
- 20:28much Elaine loves you guys? She wants to get
- 20:30close and intimate and the minute she hears baby
- 20:33and other people she's like, I want them gone.
- 20:35I think I'm getting too old for that baby. She's
- 20:38so English. so English yes I'm afraid we sort
- 20:41of like you know once the babies once the babies
- 20:44are born they kick them to the curb we just put
- 20:48them out on their own you know like we give them
- 20:50to a wet nurse and we say bring them back when
- 20:52they're 15 the English are like the ostrich that
- 20:54we're gonna read about today all right here we
- 20:58go next next next all right this comes you're
- 21:03gonna love this youngin how youngin um He's probably
- 21:08getting close, I guess he's heading towards two.
- 21:11Oh, that's not, well, that's not too bad. They're
- 21:13quite sweet at two, aren't they? Mm -hmm. Has
- 21:15he done a long time? Or maybe he's going to be
- 21:18one. Actually, he's one going into two. That's
- 21:20even worse. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's better.
- 21:24Maybe if we get that many. Listen to me. Cameron
- 21:27and Jaylen and Heather and Tony, you listen to
- 21:30me. Elaine loves babies. She just doesn't want
- 21:34this baby all up in her business. Oh my gosh,
- 21:4015 hour flights. It's like in cases here, there
- 21:42and everywhere. And I'll be like, listen, there'll
- 21:44be a little baby in the back, kicking the back
- 21:46of my seat. I'll be going like this. No, no,
- 21:50no, there'll be plenty. I'm getting one of those
- 21:53that I'm renting a large van where there's several
- 21:57seats. They have like, you know, the screens
- 21:59that go up. I'm not renting. I'm not renting
- 22:01a limousine. I'm not doing that. All right, moving
- 22:06on. All right, here we go. That's old school
- 22:09Baptist. Yes, I'm just saying I find it very
- 22:12difficult to be close proximity to a two -year
- 22:14-old or one year old. Yeah You're gonna have
- 22:17to learn what it means Yes, yes, all right, so
- 22:24this comes from Fullmetal Preterist This is a
- 22:27first time he's quoted or not commented. It's
- 22:30Bobby and Cheryl huddle. They're out of Texas
- 22:32I know them. They're so dear to me. I love them
- 22:34very much. Hello darlings and their mother -in
- 22:37-law, Patricia, she teaches like a Sunday school
- 22:41thing for them down there in Texas, and she's
- 22:44brilliant. And you'll get to meet her, she's
- 22:46at Arkansas. And you'll get to meet Bobby and
- 22:48Sherrie Huddle too. All right. Hey Rick and Elaine,
- 22:51I just love your studies on Job, but I have a
- 22:53question about soon. This has something to do
- 22:59with our previous talk somewhere, right? Yeah,
- 23:01I know, I read that. wasn't most of the New Testament
- 23:05written between 55 and 66 AD so soon was within
- 23:08that time frame? This is in regard to my article.
- 23:11And then you and I did a recording which has
- 23:13not even released yet about not this, but other
- 23:16things, not just after the crucifixion 40 years
- 23:19later. Love you and Elaine studies. There's so
- 23:22many questions and things y 'all have brought
- 23:23to life about suffering and God revealing things
- 23:25to bring us to Himself. through our suffering,
- 23:28y 'all's insight has been amazing. I can't wait
- 23:30for your book on this podcast about Job. Oh,
- 23:33wow. So that's wonderful. Thank you for writing
- 23:36that. That means a lot. Thank you that you're
- 23:38on board here. So here's what I'm going to do,
- 23:40Bobby and Cheryl, Sherry. Sorry, guys. My brain's
- 23:46not working this morning. I'm not going to answer
- 23:49that about the soon and the 55 to 66 AD because
- 23:51it has nothing to do with our job. But we will
- 23:54tackle it later. All right. We talked about it
- 23:57later and it hasn't came out yet, but we did
- 23:59kind of get into this a little bit. But I'll
- 24:00talk to you guys about the late date versus the
- 24:02early date of a lot of these books. Because honestly,
- 24:06you can go either way you can. Some people will
- 24:09say, well, if you go too late, then it screws
- 24:10up being a full preterist. Some people say if
- 24:13it's early, then it's perfect for it. None of
- 24:16this works, just so you know. Church history
- 24:18doesn't work with full -priorism. Late -date
- 24:20doesn't work with full -priorism. Early -date
- 24:22can work technically with full -priorism. Guys,
- 24:24I don't have time to get into this. I think sometimes
- 24:28what we do is we get bogged down in, you know,
- 24:31was it this, was it that? Was it instead of just
- 24:33reading the scriptures and saying, well, actually,
- 24:35what is it saying to me? What am I gaining from
- 24:39it? Does it tell me that there's going to be
- 24:40something about me? Can I take this forward into
- 24:43my time or the future? Or do I have to read it?
- 24:46Like I say, you've only got to say, well, if
- 24:48I picked up this book and it said, you know,
- 24:50I'm writing to the Galatians that Christ is coming
- 24:52soon. I'm thinking, well, I'm not a Galatian.
- 24:55You know, I mean, and you've got to go with what
- 24:57is soon. I know that sometimes in prophecy, God
- 25:00might say soon, but he's talking in prophecy.
- 25:03Sometimes when he's given a prophecy, he says,
- 25:06like in Daniel, seal up the book, it's not for
- 25:08your time. So showing you that it is a late sign,
- 25:11but you've got to take it in context. And for
- 25:13me, when I read the New Testament, I see that
- 25:16Christ has fulfilled all of the scriptures because
- 25:18I can read them. I then have to say to myself,
- 25:22well, everything must have been written before
- 25:2370. Yeah. And again, there's tons of arguments
- 25:29in scholarship about When and where and why and
- 25:32how and all this stuff and so although it's important
- 25:35to me and I do take it into consideration I'm
- 25:39gonna leave that discussion for a different time
- 25:42Okay, and I will tackle that and I will say thank
- 25:45you that you've been with us this whole time.
- 25:47I appreciate your comment and Yeah Our insights
- 25:52I give all glory to God for these insights for
- 25:55both to me and to Elaine and the things that
- 25:57I've learned through this I am I'm just humbled
- 26:01by the fact that the Lord, the way that he does
- 26:04this with us and wants to be with us, right?
- 26:07This last comment... Again, this book that we're
- 26:10doing, it's not some sort of reference book that
- 26:13you can sort of go back to, oh, who said this
- 26:15and what quote was made here or... It literally
- 26:18is a discussion on the characters and their sort
- 26:23of unfolding during the whole 42 chapters. That's
- 26:28what it's about, really. And then applying what
- 26:30we're learning from what we're reading about
- 26:33the characters in there, and we're looking at
- 26:35ourselves. That's the whole thing. That's right.
- 26:38And that's what I said that was so shocking to
- 26:40me about this book. You and I have talked about
- 26:42this so many times behind the scenes, Elaine,
- 26:44is that I had no idea that this is what this
- 26:46book was about. I had this simplistic God of
- 26:48Sovereignty get over it, you know? And Job got
- 26:51double portion because he finally learned, you
- 26:53know, it's like... man it's so much bigger than
- 26:55that it's so much bigger than that and if i feel
- 26:57like when you dig into god's word and don't let
- 26:59me forget elaine that we're going to announce
- 27:01the next book at the end of this we're going
- 27:03to announce it um what we're going to be doing
- 27:04next um which i'm super excited about and something
- 27:09really isn't done is it it's never really Never
- 27:12seen it. And it's going to be a first here for
- 27:13me. So I'm super excited. Don't let me forget
- 27:16to say it at the end of late. But here's our
- 27:18last comment. And we're going to get into this
- 27:20and we're going to finish out this book. We're
- 27:22covering a lot today. But guys, you can read
- 27:24it for yourself. And you've been with us this
- 27:26whole time. You don't need me and Elaine to teach
- 27:29you anything. The Holy Spirit will teach you
- 27:31all that you need to know. You've got to call
- 27:33on him and have a relationship with him. If you
- 27:34haven't learned that throughout this, you probably
- 27:36knew it before. But I'm just going to say it
- 27:38again, unless you're going to him. This is meaningless
- 27:42to you You have to go to him in all honesty you
- 27:47have to lay all honesty everything you have to
- 27:50show your your ego your jealousy your envies
- 27:54your Unwillingness to forgive and pour out that
- 27:59and say why do I feel why have I got this thing?
- 28:01Why don't I like people when they tell me something?
- 28:03Why I really go to him and say these are the
- 28:07flaws in me that I don't want Right. Be honest,
- 28:11lay it bare. Nothing is missing. Exactly. And
- 28:15this is what we need to do. We need, I mean,
- 28:17I used to find it when I started going to Bible
- 28:19studies. I used to say, well, look, sometimes
- 28:21I swear and I don't want to swear. I mean, I'm
- 28:24not doing it every day in my life. Don't get
- 28:25me wrong. I might do it once every eight months,
- 28:27every year or something, but I do. And then you'll
- 28:30be surprised. I mean, if you go, Oh, actually
- 28:32I do sometimes. You know, I thought I was the
- 28:34only one. You know, but what I'm saying is I'm
- 28:37not saying it's good to do that, but what I'm
- 28:39saying is confess your sins to one another so
- 28:42that we can be healed. And that's the point.
- 28:44If you hold onto it and you're frightened to
- 28:46tell somebody, this is what I am. It's like I've
- 28:49said before, I think Rick, you know, I used to
- 28:51say to my children, all the time you pretend
- 28:53to be strong, you will remain weak. But as soon
- 28:56as you air your weaknesses, then you become strong
- 29:00because nobody can accuse you of anything because
- 29:02you can say, yes, I know I am. And they've lost
- 29:05their argument straight away. That's right. I
- 29:08know what I am. And I think that's what we all
- 29:10need to do. And once the church becomes more
- 29:12honest with itself, instead of thinking, oh,
- 29:15you know, if I air that to somebody, my halo
- 29:17might slip or my position in the church might
- 29:19fall and they won't think as much of me. Well,
- 29:21it doesn't matter. It's what God thinks of you
- 29:23that matters. That's what matters. I don't want
- 29:26to hide behind the garb of a Christian, but underneath
- 29:30have the works of a flesh. I don't want that.
- 29:35I don't want that. And I think this is something
- 29:37that Job is sort of bringing out here, you know,
- 29:40and he's taking it on board. He's taking it on
- 29:41the chin at the end, really. He really does.
- 29:45Yep. And what you find out that he wasn't necessarily
- 29:49wrong, but he was certainly not right. So, all
- 29:54right. Here's the last comment that we have today,
- 29:55Elaine, from Laurie Stone. Hey, Laurie. Glad
- 29:59to see you back. Yeah. Lots of love to you both.
- 30:02It has been a joy going through this study with
- 30:04you both. Looking forward to the finale, the
- 30:08book, and Q &A. Blessings. Well, here you are
- 30:10at the finale. So thank you for being along.
- 30:14We're getting ready to go. Yeah and so elaine
- 30:22let me ask you this question now we go and bring
- 30:23up the q &a all i have to figure out is how i
- 30:27can do a live between us and then when people
- 30:30can send in their questions or watch or whatever.
- 30:32Or we can just have a final talk you know about
- 30:34it but this thursday. At my let's see i can i
- 30:42need to talk to my wife but i think i think i
- 30:44have this thursday at six pm. is when I'd like
- 30:48to do it. No, I think you're five hours ahead
- 30:50of me. At your time, 6 p .m. Yeah, which means
- 30:52it would be 11 p .m. or. No, midnight. Yeah,
- 30:55that night is not going to work for you, is it?
- 30:57Yeah, it will. I'll stop up. Listen to that.
- 31:00You see how dedicated she is, guys? But the only
- 31:03reason I say that is because the all of us, you
- 31:06know, here have jobs and we have to work and
- 31:09I would like them to be able to engage. That
- 31:11doesn't that doesn't bother me at all you know
- 31:13it's like christ when they said lord you're tired
- 31:15you said well i have work to do that you don't
- 31:17know anything about so right i'm gonna i'm gonna
- 31:19appeal to that i'm gonna be you're gonna be like
- 31:22the lord jesus look at that uh you know what
- 31:25i want to say what did you do to your arm did
- 31:28you cut yourself oh i burned it oh my goodness
- 31:31were you making a spot of tea No, no, I was rather
- 31:36I was popping some jacket potatoes Oh my goodness,
- 31:43I'm sorry you burn it I'm a strong I'm a strong
- 31:47woman. I'm a strong actually I'm a strong human
- 31:50being Yes, you are. All right, so I'm gonna open
- 31:54this study up by saying this The opening thought
- 31:58of this entire book was does job fear God for
- 32:03nothing. That's the thing that really kicked
- 32:06me in the teeth at the very beginning because
- 32:09it's like huh you know like does Job fear God
- 32:12for nothing and he talks about how God just protects
- 32:15him and all this stuff and then God just lets
- 32:17him do what he wants to with his servant. So
- 32:22basically by proxy God is doing it to him. That's
- 32:25right. Now Funny enough. It's never Satan doing
- 32:28it. It's only because God allows it. So once
- 32:31again, we can see there that God does allow things.
- 32:34That's right. It's down to God. Even though when
- 32:36everything happens that you think is bad, God's
- 32:39hand is always over it. Right. You know, it's
- 32:42amazing. I want to point this out guys. And I
- 32:45don't know why I didn't catch this because Job
- 32:47actually gets the answer to this question in
- 32:50the end of this book. He does. He does. Okay.
- 32:53But Have you ever, now that you've been going
- 32:56through it with us so long, have you noticed
- 32:58that whenever God says, have you considered my
- 33:02servant Job, whenever Satan says, does Job fear
- 33:06God for nothing, he didn't talk about his wonderful
- 33:10relationship with him. He only talked about his
- 33:15possessions, what he had and the protection which
- 33:17he had. He didn't even talk about the relationship.
- 33:21And that's the thing that I think is so clear
- 33:23in humanity is that that's the difference in
- 33:28my opinion. When I meet people who are true believers
- 33:31in Jesus Christ, you can tell that they know
- 33:34him because I know him and they know him. And
- 33:38it's immediate. Like when I met Elaine, I was
- 33:40like, well, there's my sister. I knew it. I knew
- 33:44it when I saw, you know, we were talking and
- 33:45I was like, there you are. You're my sister.
- 33:47I know it because we know him. But see, the enemy
- 33:51of God, the Satan of God, the Pharisees of God,
- 33:54the Sadducees of God, the scribes of God, all
- 33:57of these people that claim to be with God, if
- 34:04they don't have that relationship, then all of
- 34:07it is for nothing. All of it is, and it follows
- 34:11exactly what's saying, does Job fear God for
- 34:13nothing? So like we talked about in the past,
- 34:15the Pharisee walks into the temple, the sinner
- 34:18walks into the, you know, the tax collector walks
- 34:19in there, and he beats on his chest, God have
- 34:22mercy upon me, a sinner. And the other one's
- 34:23like, look at me, I've given all my mint, dill,
- 34:25and cumin, and I'm glad I'm not like that sinner
- 34:27over there. Like there's a definite difference
- 34:30between someone who relates to God and understanding
- 34:32who they are, honestly, versus somebody who is
- 34:35representing God and doesn't. He's got all the
- 34:38clothes on that looks like it, but underneath
- 34:40you buy their actions and fruits, you can say
- 34:42that they're actually not that at all. That's
- 34:44how you, again, it's a bit like, I mean, again,
- 34:47you know, when he says, get away from me, you
- 34:49workers of iniquity, of lawlessness, of sin,
- 34:51get away, I never knew you. What he's saying
- 34:53there was, even when they appealed to him, well,
- 34:54didn't I do that? Didn't I do that? He says,
- 34:57I never knew, right even from the beginning,
- 34:58you were never mine. You were never mine. That's
- 35:00right. And I like how you put that, you know,
- 35:02our... our Savior, Jesus Christ, was stripped
- 35:05down to nakedness. And he was, you know, then
- 35:09had that one cloak put on him and then nailed
- 35:11to a cross. But he despised the shame. The scripture
- 35:14says he despised the shame of it. But he was
- 35:18taken down to the lowest of the low. But he wanted
- 35:21to do what his father in heaven commanded him.
- 35:23That's what mattered the most. And he had a relationship.
- 35:26Father, glorify your son as I had with you in
- 35:28the beginning. And how did he do it? Through
- 35:29the cross. So it's like Like this is the ultimate
- 35:33view of relationship. And I think that that's
- 35:38why the Satan character represents really the
- 35:42way that this world thinks, which is stuff and
- 35:47the fallacy of the way we project ourselves to
- 35:50the outside world. It's like you said earlier,
- 35:51Elaine, like the minute you tell somebody, I
- 35:54am weak, then that's when you really get. to
- 35:57the meat of life, whereas... But nobody can bring
- 35:59an accusation against you then, because you've
- 36:03already heard it. Yeah, and there's a lot of
- 36:05times... like parents will do this for the children
- 36:07like we want to protect our children right because
- 36:08they're smaller they don't understand adult things
- 36:11but a lot of times like we don't show emotion
- 36:13we want to be strong for them we want to show
- 36:15that and i i think that sometimes i think that's
- 36:17a mistake i think that you can relate with your
- 36:19children and cry sometimes and be like it is
- 36:21my heart hurts this is what it feels like when
- 36:23we're in pain but i still go to my heavenly father
- 36:26and i want you to know that that's what i do
- 36:28you know how we pass these things on so being
- 36:30honest but but again it's like we just said about
- 36:32five minutes ago the fact is That, you know,
- 36:35even in church, you know, people are, when I
- 36:37speak about church, I'm talking about the, you
- 36:39know, the community of Christ, us as his children.
- 36:44You know, is there this sort of this idea that
- 36:46you don't want to show who you are really, because
- 36:48there's this sort of, this idea that if people
- 36:52really know what you are, that you're going to
- 36:55go down in their estimations. but it's only then
- 36:58that you can, it's only by airing and exposing
- 37:00things you can have a heal. Like it says, it's,
- 37:02you know, express your sins to one another so
- 37:06that you may be healed. You know, he's not saying
- 37:08hide them so you can be healed. We've got to
- 37:11tell everybody, you know, those that we can trust.
- 37:13And again, in that telling, You'll be surprised
- 37:16at how many people say that they do the same
- 37:19thing, feel the same thing, think the same thing.
- 37:21And there's comfort in that. And I know it sounds
- 37:23weird to say, oh, I'm comforted by the fact that
- 37:25you sin, but there is, you know, otherwise sometimes,
- 37:29you know, you might get to the stage where you
- 37:30think, well, there's no one as bad a sinner as
- 37:33me, because you're the one that knows exactly
- 37:34what you do 24 hours a day. Yeah. When you express
- 37:37it and other people say, I do the same in that,
- 37:40there's a healing going on. You're healing one
- 37:43another just by exposing it. And B, hearing that
- 37:46other people suffer from the same things and
- 37:48together you can collectively go forward and
- 37:51mature in Christ. You've got to air it. That's
- 37:54good. Amen. Amen. All right. Well, let's get
- 37:59into the meat of this. Elaine, I won't make you
- 38:01read the entire last five chapters of this book.
- 38:04I will read some too, but I'm going to ask you
- 38:07to get into Job chapter 38. So the whirlwind
- 38:11is coming and it has now arrived. And Job, and
- 38:15we read a little bit of how it started in our
- 38:18last episode, but we're going to read that again.
- 38:20And I want you to think about how he's been sitting
- 38:22in his dust and ashes, all of the complaints.
- 38:25He wants an advocate, a mediator. He wants to
- 38:28stand in the courtroom. He wants his day in court.
- 38:30He wants to be able to ask questions of the Almighty.
- 38:32This is what he's been asking for. His three
- 38:34friends have said all kinds of things. You've
- 38:36committed adultery. You're wicked. You've stolen,
- 38:38taken the spoils. Elihu comes in and says, you
- 38:41haven't justified God. You've only justified
- 38:42yourself in this matter. All of this is happening.
- 38:45And here he is. And God shows up. And that is
- 38:50so big. Job chapter 38. Right. Then Adonai answered
- 38:55Job out of the storm. Who is this darkening my
- 38:59plans with his ignorant words? Stand up like
- 39:02a man, embrace yourself. I will ask questions
- 39:05and you give the answers. Where were you when
- 39:08I founded the earth? Tell me if you know so much.
- 39:13Do you know who determined its dimensions? Or
- 39:15who stretched the measuring line across it? On
- 39:18what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone?
- 39:22When the morning stars sang together and all
- 39:24the sons of God shouted for joy? Who shut up
- 39:28the sea behind closed doors? When it gushed forth
- 39:30from the womb? When I made the clouds its blanket
- 39:33and dense fog its swaddling cloth? When I made
- 39:38the breakers its boundary, set its gates and
- 39:41bars, and said, You may come this far, but no
- 39:44farther. Here your proud ways must stop. Have
- 39:48you ever in your life called up the dawn and
- 39:50made the morning know its place, so that it could
- 39:53take hold of the edges of the earth and shake
- 39:56the wicked out of it? Then the earth is changed,
- 39:59like clay under a seal, until its colors are
- 40:02fixed like those of a garment. But from the wicked
- 40:05the light is withheld. and the arm raised to
- 40:08strike is broken. Have you gone down to the springs
- 40:11of the sea or explored the limits of the deep?
- 40:13Have the gates of death been revealed to you?
- 40:16The gates of death like darkness? Have you surveyed
- 40:19the full extent of the earth? Say so, if you
- 40:22know it all. Which way leads to where light has
- 40:25its hung? And darkness, where does it dwell?
- 40:28If you knew you could take each to its place
- 40:31and set it on its homeward path, you know, of
- 40:34course, because you were Born then? By now you
- 40:38must be very old. Have you gone into the storehouses
- 40:41for snow, or seen the storehouses for hail, for
- 40:45which I have saved for the times of trouble,
- 40:47for days of battle and war? By what path is light
- 40:51dispersed, or the east wind poured out on the
- 40:54land? Who cut a channel for the downpours, or
- 40:57a way for the lightning and the thunder, causing
- 41:00it to rain where no one is, in a desert without
- 41:03anyone there? drenching the wastes and the desolate
- 41:07ground to the tender grass sprouts. Does the
- 41:10rain have a father? Who is the father of dew
- 41:13drops? From whose womb does ice come? Who gives
- 41:17birth to the frost of heaven when water becomes
- 41:20as hard as stone and the surface of the deep
- 41:22freeze is solid? Can you tie up the clouds of
- 41:25cords of Pleiades or loosen the belt of Orion?
- 41:29Can you lead out of the constellations of the
- 41:31zodiac in their season? or guide the great bear
- 41:34and its cubs? Do you know the laws of the sky?
- 41:38Can you determine how they affect the earth?
- 41:40Can you raise your voice to the clouds and make
- 41:42them cover you with a flood of rain? Can you
- 41:44send lightning bolts on their way? Will they
- 41:47say to you, here we are? Who put wisdom in people's
- 41:51inner inner parts? Who gave wisdom and understanding
- 41:54to the mind? Who by wisdom can number the clouds?
- 41:58Who can tilt the water skins of heaven? so that
- 42:01the dust becomes a mass of mud and its clogs
- 42:04stick together. Can you hunt prey for a lioness
- 42:08or satisfy the appetite of the young lions when
- 42:11they crouch in their dens or lie in ambush in
- 42:14their lairs? Who provides food for the raven
- 42:17when his young cry out to God and wander about
- 42:20for lack of food? Wow. Sorry about that. No,
- 42:25it was wonderful. So that's that's a lot and
- 42:30if we go verse by verse, we'll be here for the
- 42:32rest of the week. Yeah, but I Thought it was
- 42:36I remember the first time I ever read the book
- 42:38of Job I thought what kind of answer is this
- 42:40like this doesn't make any sense to me at all
- 42:42and that's because I'm a selfish human being
- 42:45And because I think of myself higher than God
- 42:47sometimes that's what I do as a human It's so
- 42:50silliness, but it's it's what humans do humans
- 42:52be doing what humans do, right? Yeah, so God
- 42:57breaks out, first of all, who is this? This question
- 43:02that God asks is something that Job's gonna repeat
- 43:07in the last chapter of this book. Who is this
- 43:10that darkens the council, right? Let me go back
- 43:14to that verse again. So Job, he says, who is
- 43:18this that darkens council by words without knowledge?
- 43:22Now - I've met a lot of people like that. Yeah,
- 43:26well, I'm one of them. I am. I'm not lying. I've
- 43:29been like that. But the thing is like, God, God
- 43:34is really letting Job number number one. He's
- 43:37like, first of all, stand up and get ready. Gird
- 43:40your loins. You get ready. I'm going to show
- 43:42you something as a man. And so that image that
- 43:46I made the way it says brace yourself. Yes. Well,
- 43:48because in the fact is he's not sitting down
- 43:50in the dust anymore. I believe God's made him
- 43:52stand. Now you want your courtroom, you're in
- 43:55the courtroom. And here's the whirlwind, right?
- 43:58Here it comes. So as he's standing there, God
- 44:02begins like, who is this that darkens counsel
- 44:08by words without knowledge? So in other words,
- 44:12you're getting ready to talk to somebody where
- 44:14you don't know. There are things that you don't
- 44:16know. And I am way above this, like super far.
- 44:22I mean, saying he's way above it is doing him
- 44:25a disservice. Yeah, even saying it that way is
- 44:28that you want to be able to question me? Do you
- 44:32even know? You don't know anything. No. But what's
- 44:36amazing is that God actually does. And that's
- 44:38what I want to point out with grace and love
- 44:40and care. A loving father will do this even though
- 44:44he's the master of the universe. He also wants
- 44:47to be the master of your heart. And so he shows
- 44:51up, but he also wants to make it clear. When
- 44:54you come to me, you approach me as who I am.
- 44:58You know, you don't just call on me and I'm going
- 45:00to come and do, but see, Jesus will later say
- 45:02anything that you ask in my name, the father
- 45:05will do. The reason why is because the heart
- 45:08posture is what actually matters. Okay. Job was
- 45:12coming at him with this different kind of heart.
- 45:14I demand satisfaction, sir. I demand to know
- 45:17why I've been put through this. But that's not
- 45:20how it should be at all. Jesus doesn't demand
- 45:23anything of the Father. I suppose the thing is,
- 45:26first of all, before you can do that, I have
- 45:29an understanding of who God is. And I think without
- 45:33that understanding of who God is, you can't approach
- 45:35him, like we said before, about the Pharisee
- 45:38and the sinner. One's looking downwards, beating
- 45:40his chest, and the other one's looking upwards
- 45:41and thinking, wow, I'm so wonderful and amazing.
- 45:44But you have to have that kind of posture. And
- 45:46it's those people that have that kind of posture.
- 45:48that really understand who God is. And I tell
- 45:51you what, and a lot of the time you understand
- 45:53more who God is by trials, tribulations, things
- 45:56that have gone wrong in your life. If you have
- 45:59a charmed life, you haven't learned much at all,
- 46:01really. And that's the thing, I think, this is
- 46:04what God is teaching every single one of us,
- 46:07that, you know, a charmed life isn't going to
- 46:09be, I mean, Job had everything. They said, you
- 46:10had everything. You know, Satan said, you've
- 46:12got everything. No wonder it's all tickety -boo,
- 46:15hunky -dory, nothing. Take it away from him.
- 46:18Now bring a bit of hardship. Let's have a little
- 46:20look at what his character would do now. Has
- 46:22he ever experienced that before? You blessed
- 46:24everything. Everything. The work of his hands,
- 46:26you've done everything. But here we have somebody
- 46:28that is learning something through trial. That's
- 46:31why Paul says, consider it all joy when you go
- 46:34through various trials. It produces something.
- 46:38And that's the point. It produces patience. It
- 46:42produces long suffering. It produces a trusting
- 46:46God. it produces an awareness that this isn't
- 46:50all there is. We have to come here to get where
- 46:52our reality is supposed to be, where we were
- 46:55before we were even born. This means nothing,
- 47:00really. I mean, it does, obviously. But what
- 47:02I'm saying is ultimately, we have to be born
- 47:05here, to be born from above, to be able to go
- 47:08on to this heavenly Jerusalem, this new Jerusalem.
- 47:11That's the whole point. That's the whole point.
- 47:13I agree. I agree. I've had people say this is
- 47:16the testing ground, the proving ground, whatever
- 47:18you want to call it. This is, in my opinion,
- 47:20this is where you wrestle with good and evil
- 47:22and you come to know God and then understand
- 47:24what it means to be in relationship with him
- 47:26in order to be in the place where he's at. All
- 47:29right. So in Jobe's... My dog's wanting to get
- 47:32in. He's scratching the door. Absolutely. You
- 47:34go right ahead, Elaine. I had the, I actually
- 47:38took advantage of the fact when she's reading,
- 47:40when she reads the Bible, the screen comes up
- 47:44to just her. So I actually, no, it only comes
- 47:48up to you. And what's really funny, Elaine, I
- 47:51don't even know if you noticed this, but I actually,
- 47:53I had a pee break while you were reading. So
- 47:57I don't have to pay out of the period. So we
- 47:59can go on for hours. Okay. So, all right. So
- 48:02in Job chapter 38, verse four through seven,
- 48:05okay. I remember, I paused a lot on this particular
- 48:09place. He says, when the morning stars sing together
- 48:12and all the sons of God shatter for joy. Let's
- 48:14go back to those verses. So four through seven,
- 48:17he says, where were you when I laid the foundation
- 48:19of the earth? Tell me if you have understanding,
- 48:23who determined its measurements? Surely you know,
- 48:25or who stretched the line upon it? On what were
- 48:28its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone?
- 48:32When the morning stars sing together, and all
- 48:34the sons of God shouted for joy. Now, think about
- 48:38chapter one. Think about chapter one and chapter
- 48:41two. Remember, the sons of God were the ones
- 48:45who were in the heavenly throne room. Now, when
- 48:49he says, who are you, I've had some people try
- 48:51to tell me that God's talking about laying his
- 48:54cosmic temple. He's not talking about a globe
- 48:57and things like that. Let's not miss the point
- 49:00here. You can say he's laying the foundation
- 49:03of a temple, but I also think it's important
- 49:05that he brings about the cornerstone, because
- 49:08those of us who are Christians know who that
- 49:10is. Amen. That's correct. So he's saying from
- 49:14the very beginning. How many times have we said
- 49:17this, Elaine? From the very beginning, before
- 49:20the foundations of the world, there was a cornerstone
- 49:24that was going to be placed, and it is Christ.
- 49:27It's Christ, OK? That's right. and again going
- 49:31back to you know the first verse of chapter one
- 49:33it says in the beginning God created the heavens
- 49:35and the earth but in between in the beginning
- 49:39and God created the heavens and the earth there's
- 49:41two letters and they don't ever translate them
- 49:44because they're untranslatable and they are the
- 49:48Aleph and the Tav now if you go back to the pictograph
- 49:51the Aleph and the Tav it always represented strength
- 49:54or power and also the Tav represented a mark
- 49:58or a cross. So if you actually go back to Christ
- 50:03being that cornerstone of the heavens and the
- 50:05earth, breathing it into a being, it says in
- 50:10the beginning, the power of the cross created
- 50:15the heavens and the earth. Isn't that a beautiful
- 50:17thing? Elaine was telling me this yesterday.
- 50:19We've talked about it before, but yeah, it's
- 50:21just a beautiful thing. Again, and again, all
- 50:23the way back there, unless you know what these
- 50:25two letters mean, you're not going to get it.
- 50:27And he is the word. made flesh. He is the word
- 50:30placed inside this garment of flesh, if you like,
- 50:34become one of us. So the word back there was
- 50:38made flesh. And if you think about it, the word,
- 50:41everything we read, it's a letter that forms
- 50:44a word, and a word forms a sentence, and a sentence
- 50:49forms a thought. Well, no one's able to sing
- 50:52the song of redemption except Christians, because
- 50:54they're the only ones that put these letters
- 50:55and words and sentences together to show the
- 50:57gospel. That's right. So therefore, it's living
- 51:01within us. We are that light. The gospel is within
- 51:05people's midst because we are there and it's
- 51:07not only within us, it's without us. And we're
- 51:10the only ones that ever say, yes, it's the elephant
- 51:12at the top, right the way back there, this cornerstone.
- 51:15He was already laid. And the thing is, it's in
- 51:18the spiritual realm. We know chapter one and
- 51:20chapter two are in the spiritual realm. So Elaine
- 51:22has said many times in a lot of our talks, it's
- 51:24the spiritual, physical, spiritual, physical,
- 51:26spiritual. So Christ will be born in the flesh.
- 51:29Christ will be that rejected cornerstone. And
- 51:31then we are born in the flesh and we are building
- 51:33as a temple, but it is all about Him and being
- 51:36in the spirit. The Morning Star is saying, this
- 51:40is where I believe in the divine counsel, but
- 51:42I don't get into all the depth of it because
- 51:43I don't need to. It's pointing to the fact, he's
- 51:46saying, where were you when I started all of
- 51:47this, Jobe? I started all of this, okay? Now,
- 51:50if he's thinking purely in the physical realm,
- 51:53and he was like, the heavenly beings saw him
- 51:55make the earth on all these things, that's okay.
- 51:57He can think that way. He can even think that
- 52:00the earth is flat or it's square and that there's
- 52:02pillars sunk or whatever. He can think it, it
- 52:04doesn't matter. The point that matters is that
- 52:06God is the one who did it. And he's been wanting
- 52:08this moment with this God to talk to. And remember,
- 52:12he was offering sacrifices on behalf of his children,
- 52:14just in case their heart wasn't right with this.
- 52:16God's here now and he's like, where were you?
- 52:20So you want to come to me, you darken my counsel
- 52:23with these words without knowledge. Now, where
- 52:26were you? Absolutely, exactly. And that's the
- 52:29thing. And he does approach him, you know, and
- 52:31it's a question all the time. He's questioning
- 52:34him, questioning. And again, imagine if we were
- 52:37saying this is why have you allowed this? God,
- 52:38why have you? I've done this, I've done. And
- 52:40then God turns up and it's actually says, sit
- 52:41down, darling. I want to ask you, you're darkening
- 52:44my counsel because you really have no idea because
- 52:46you're speaking darkness here because I'm light.
- 52:49So you really need to sit down and find out.
- 52:51And I'm going to enlighten you here. I'm going
- 52:53to bring about some light on the subject. That's
- 52:55good. Dark and light. That's good. Yeah. Then
- 52:57he starts to question him. Right, where were
- 52:59you when this happened? And I love the way he
- 53:01says, you know, when it says there about, you
- 53:06know, does the rain have a father? Who is the
- 53:08father of the dew drops? From whose womb does
- 53:12ice come from? Who gives birth to them? I love
- 53:15the way that God says, who gives birth? From
- 53:17what womb does it come? Who's the father? And
- 53:20again, it conjures up these things that you can
- 53:23relate to in the flesh, you know, this birthing.
- 53:27Well, to have a birth, there must have been sort
- 53:29of something that placed that what you're going
- 53:32to give birth to, or you're going to give birth
- 53:34to. Well, who placed that there? You know, it's
- 53:37going back further and further and further. And
- 53:40it's basically saying to him, look, he's a father
- 53:43that's saying, look, darling, you got it all
- 53:46wrong here. That's right. I mean, again, if he
- 53:50was a wicked, evil, just god, he could have turned
- 53:52around and said, well, my justice says you've
- 53:54really sort of like dissed me a lot here, Job.
- 53:56I'll just go and squish you. Yeah. And that's
- 54:02what Job 38 is all about. That was a very technical.
- 54:05That's a very technical term. It is. Spell that.
- 54:10Yeah. So, yeah. So, Joe, I mean, we could go
- 54:14verse by verse, but I don't think I need to.
- 54:16I think you guys understand what God is doing
- 54:18right here. He's saying, like, can you? String
- 54:21the bows of Orion. Can you stretch out Pleiades
- 54:23across the sky? Can you can you make it rain?
- 54:26Can you make it snow who store who opens the
- 54:28womb of the snow? Like can you do any of these
- 54:29things like? Okay, you've got you came in here
- 54:32and I've given you my attention. Are you sure
- 54:33you want it? Because I think you know who you're
- 54:36dealing with and yeah I'm sorry for interrupting.
- 54:42No, it's okay. I'm used to it I'm just playing
- 54:49I'm just playing with you Well, I wasn't. That's
- 54:54good. I love you dearly. We've got to stay honest.
- 54:57We do. Yeah, we've got to be honest with each
- 54:59other too. I'm only playing with you. I know,
- 55:01me too. Again, bringing it down to us today,
- 55:07it's times when we are suffering and we go through
- 55:09that. We really have to sit there and say, where
- 55:11were you when I made this? What were you when
- 55:13I did this? I mean, we've got to remember that
- 55:15all of these things that God is talking about,
- 55:17they're just amazing. minimal part of what he
- 55:21is and does. He has to orchestrate everything.
- 55:25He's the creator before him, there was nothing.
- 55:28He brought everything out of nothingness, out
- 55:31of who he is. And so when he says about, you
- 55:34know, he's having to control everything, every
- 55:38single person, every single action, reaction,
- 55:40everything. And at the end of the day, we get
- 55:43so concerned over the fact that why has God allowed
- 55:46this? And again, and I mean, Like you said earlier
- 55:48on, we all do it. I do it sometimes. I think,
- 55:51you know, what have I done? What have I done
- 55:53to deserve this? You say, I've got to learn patience.
- 55:56I mean, how long is this going to go on for?
- 56:00You know, and like Paul, he says, well, my grace
- 56:01is sufficiently enough for you. And you just
- 56:03say, okay, Lord, you know, but yeah, I'll just
- 56:07swallow that one then and just, you know, endure
- 56:10it. But yes, it is times like this when things
- 56:15are so bad. that is when God draws your attention
- 56:19to it. And I think this is good. Anyone that's
- 56:22going through really bad times, read starting
- 56:25at 38 and says, right now, God, I'm going to
- 56:28ask you. And then read that. Just recognize actually,
- 56:32you know, that there is a reason to all of this.
- 56:35And I really believe that through our suffering,
- 56:38We are a benefit to other people. We are we are
- 56:41being honed and shaped by God and we are being
- 56:44brought forth to maturity. And without suffering,
- 56:46I don't think you can ever learn that. And in
- 56:48fact, the more you suffer, I think the more compassionate,
- 56:52kind, understanding, desirous to help to reach
- 56:56out, people become no suffering, selfish. That's
- 57:00right. That's exactly right. And something else,
- 57:02too. I don't want I don't want anybody to miss
- 57:04this. When he's when he's telling job this he's
- 57:09explaining to him like right now We're up in
- 57:11the heavenly realms up in the universal realms
- 57:13up in the sky cloud realms right and where the
- 57:15rain and all these things are and And that's
- 57:18something I want to point out to people when
- 57:19you start getting into ancient cosmology You
- 57:22know these these people Had a view of the world
- 57:26and they believed that you know God was in the
- 57:29clouds or or whatever Okay, but there's more
- 57:32to it than just that when we're in our future
- 57:36modern world and we look at our we have satellites
- 57:38up in the sky or whatever we're doing how do
- 57:41we see weather or whatever it is that we do don't
- 57:44miss this please don't miss this it's not about
- 57:47flat earth or globe it's it's not about um cloud
- 57:51seeding and who manipulates the weather. It's
- 57:54about who made it all to begin with. Who is the
- 57:57originator, the creator of all of these things?
- 58:00No matter where you fall in the story, no matter
- 58:03where our brains are, we might find out 500 years
- 58:07from now, our species might still be around and
- 58:09they might be traveling to outside of this dome
- 58:12perhaps. And some people were like, no, it's
- 58:14not possible, whatever. Guys. I don't know, I've
- 58:18never been to outer space. I've never been on
- 58:20a rocket ship. I don't know anything. All I know
- 58:22is my own perspective. But what I do know is
- 58:25that that same God that made all those things
- 58:27pierced my heart. And I know him, right? And
- 58:31so because I have that, when I look at the weather,
- 58:35I know that he's in control. When I look at situations,
- 58:39I know he's in control. And I think that's what
- 58:41I want everybody to take away from this is to
- 58:43always remember no matter where you are. He's
- 58:46there. He's there. Whether it's by his ruling
- 58:51that he did it or he's with you going through
- 58:53you with it. That's why Jesus said, take my yoke
- 58:59upon you because my burden is easy. When you
- 59:02look at what he went through, that burden doesn't
- 59:05look easy at all to me. And he went through it
- 59:09hard, but his burden is easy because of his love
- 59:11for the Father. When you love the Father, the
- 59:13burden is easy. It's different. You encounter
- 59:18a different, right? So, Job right now in this
- 59:20argument, not argument, but in this state, God's
- 59:24like, where were you when I did? all of this
- 59:27out here. Well, now he's going to hone in. He's
- 59:30going to take you into the everyday life that's
- 59:32around him that he can observe. He can't observe
- 59:34Pleiades. He doesn't know where those bars are
- 59:37that hold up the ice, right? He doesn't know
- 59:40where that stuff is. Now he's going to let him
- 59:42see things that he can actually see. Exactly.
- 59:44And again, all of this has an impact on the internal.
- 59:47He's talking about external things, but it makes
- 59:50you think internally about why did I reason like
- 59:54that? Why did I see that picture myself? Why
- 59:57did I say to myself, who made this and who made
- 1:00:00that? Who did this? Who did that? You know, I
- 1:00:02know that God is just, so this must be something
- 1:00:04else happening here that I'm not particularly
- 1:00:06aware of. And I think this is the thing that
- 1:00:09we, again, taking it back to ourselves that we
- 1:00:12really need to see. Well, everything happens
- 1:00:14externally to us, Rick, but it has an internal
- 1:00:17impact. So God is asking us to adjust our internal
- 1:00:22impact. to the external things that impact us.
- 1:00:26Amen. That's good. Yeah, exactly. And that's
- 1:00:28the thing. You can either react one way or you
- 1:00:31can react another way. God is asking you to react
- 1:00:34the way that relies and trust on him. It has
- 1:00:37a purpose. There is an ending to this. And not
- 1:00:40only that, while you're here, he wants you to
- 1:00:41bless people. The only way you can bless people
- 1:00:43is if you've really understood what suffering
- 1:00:45is. What you've understood what suffering is.
- 1:00:48And again, you think about more the people that
- 1:00:50have undergone really harsh conditions. are the
- 1:00:53most kind, compassionate, patient, non -judgmental
- 1:01:04people. They'll listen and they'll give good
- 1:01:08counsel. They'll use their ears and their mouth
- 1:01:12in the degrees that they've been given, listen
- 1:01:15twice and speak once or thing. And I think that
- 1:01:19that's the thing here that we're learning that
- 1:01:20God is pointing out that. And again, The same
- 1:01:23for us. And I'm not saying it's easy. You know,
- 1:01:25we sit here, Rick, we say these things. And yet,
- 1:01:28you know, it's a bit like Paul when he says,
- 1:01:29you know, it's like a man who looks at himself
- 1:01:31in the mirror. He sees exactly who he is. And
- 1:01:33he goes away and forgets who he is. You know,
- 1:01:35the neat trick is - Yeah, I think that's in the
- 1:01:35book of James, actually. Exactly. Yeah. Oh, James,
- 1:01:39sorry. But the point being is that, you know,
- 1:01:44it's holding on to all the things that we're
- 1:01:46speaking about now. And we're realizing, yeah,
- 1:01:48we're saying, yeah, that's right. That's right.
- 1:01:50But the neat trick is to hold on to it. When
- 1:01:52something does come up, when we're not talking
- 1:01:55about it, when it's not on the forefront, that's
- 1:01:58the time to do it. And it's to have that at the
- 1:02:01forefront of your mind all the time. Just go
- 1:02:04back to, just say to yourself, remember Job.
- 1:02:07Not the suffering of Job, but what impact going
- 1:02:11through this had on us regards Job. External,
- 1:02:14what's he telling me internally, how I should
- 1:02:15react. And I think that's the thing. That's the
- 1:02:18one thing that I do now. I think, well, And don't
- 1:02:22be surprised if your friends don't understand
- 1:02:24what you're going through either Don't be surprised
- 1:02:26by that. Don't be surprised if some of them shy
- 1:02:28away from you I had many people that just went
- 1:02:30away I had some that really dug in deep and stayed
- 1:02:32with me and I had some that Accused me of things
- 1:02:36like something had I had done something wrong
- 1:02:37like all of those things that the friends said
- 1:02:39I've heard it through my own life and just so
- 1:02:41don't be surprised. But if you learn anything
- 1:02:45from me, if you hear anything from me, just remember
- 1:02:48cling to him because he's the one that's that's
- 1:02:51putting you through it. And he's also the one
- 1:02:53that's near you when he does it. Okay. Exactly.
- 1:02:57Exactly. You know, and that's the whole thing.
- 1:03:00You know, God doesn't stop things happening.
- 1:03:03But what he does, he says, I'll be there through
- 1:03:05it. Mm hmm. You know, and that's the thing. Otherwise,
- 1:03:07everybody be a Christian. If you only lived a
- 1:03:09charmed life and you just sort of like had God
- 1:03:11on the end of your key ring as rabbits for or
- 1:03:12a cheat genie in a bottle, you just rubbed it
- 1:03:14and said, right, what I want you to do now is
- 1:03:15this doesn't work like that. God says, this is
- 1:03:18what I want you to go through trials, but I am
- 1:03:20with you through it. I am with you through the
- 1:03:24trial. I will support you. I will teach you.
- 1:03:27I will ask you what you're learning. I will give
- 1:03:29you the patience, you know, so as more trials
- 1:03:33come along, you know, it's going to refine and
- 1:03:35hone you. I mean, you look at all the, you look
- 1:03:37at all the, you know, Hebrews 11 talks about
- 1:03:40all those people, you know, of faith, and it
- 1:03:42says the world wasn't worthy of them. Why? Because
- 1:03:44they were all rejected. Nobody wanted to know
- 1:03:47them. Their lives were filled with trauma. They
- 1:03:51never gave up right to the end. The world was
- 1:03:54not worthy. That's exactly right. That's it.
- 1:03:57Yeah. All right, so where we are here in chapter
- 1:03:5938, he just was talking about what I like to
- 1:04:03say, the universal things. Now we're going to
- 1:04:06get into the personal things like things that
- 1:04:08he could observe in his life, but not necessarily
- 1:04:11know about. So I'll read it. I'll read this chapter,
- 1:04:14Elaine. Yep. Excellent. Do you know when mountain
- 1:04:18goats give birth? Have you seen deer and labor?
- 1:04:22Can you tell how many months they carry their
- 1:04:25young? Do you know when they give birth, when
- 1:04:27they crouch down and bring forth their young,
- 1:04:29when they deliver their fawns? Their young become
- 1:04:33strong growing up in the open. They leave and
- 1:04:35never return. Who lets the wild donkey roam freely?
- 1:04:40Who sets the wild donkey loose from its shackles?
- 1:04:44I made the Arabah its home. The salty desert
- 1:04:48its place to live. Notice what he said. I made
- 1:04:50it. Okay. It scorns the noise of the city and
- 1:04:53hears no driver's shouts. It ranges over the
- 1:04:57hills for its pasture, searching for anything
- 1:04:59green. Would a wild ox be willing to serve you?
- 1:05:03Would it stay by your stall? Could you tie a
- 1:05:06rope around its neck and make it plow furrows
- 1:05:09for you? Would you trust its great strength enough
- 1:05:12to let it do your heavy work, or rely on it to
- 1:05:15bring home your seed and gather the grain from
- 1:05:18your threshing floor? An ostrich's wings beat
- 1:05:22wildly, although its pinions lack plumage. It
- 1:05:25leaves its eggs on the ground and lets them be
- 1:05:28warmed by the sand, forgetting that a foot may
- 1:05:31crush them or a wild animal trample on them.
- 1:05:34It treats its chicks heartlessly, as if they
- 1:05:37were not its own, even if her labor is in vain.
- 1:05:42It really doesn't care. Because God has deprived
- 1:05:46it of wisdom and given it. No share in understanding.
- 1:05:53When the time comes, it flats its wings, scorning
- 1:05:55both horse and rider. Did you give the horse
- 1:05:58its strength? Did you clothe its neck with a
- 1:06:01mane? Did you make him able to leap like a locust?
- 1:06:05Its majestic snorting is frightening. Its paws
- 1:06:09with force and exults with vigor, then charges
- 1:06:12into the battle, mocking it at fear, unafraid,
- 1:06:15it does not shy away from the sword. The rider's
- 1:06:19quiver rattles over it, gleaming his gleaming
- 1:06:22spear in javelin. Frenzied and eager, it devours
- 1:06:25the ground, scarcely believing the shofar has
- 1:06:28sounded. At the sound of the shofar, it whinnies,
- 1:06:32as from afar it sensed the battle. Since, as
- 1:06:37in the smell. The roar of the chiefs and the
- 1:06:41shouting. Is it your wisdom that sets the hawk
- 1:06:44soaring, spreading its wings toward the south?
- 1:06:48Does the eagle fly up when you say so, to build
- 1:06:51its nest in the heights? It lives and spends
- 1:06:55its nights on the cliffs. A rocky crag is its
- 1:06:58fortress. From there it spots its prey. Its eyes
- 1:07:02see it afar off. It's young ones suck up blood
- 1:07:06wherever the slain are. There it is. Guys, he
- 1:07:11doesn't even understand the wild animals is what
- 1:07:13he's saying. He's like, look, where are you when
- 1:07:16I stretch Pleiades or whenever the morning stars
- 1:07:19saying and the sons of God dance for joy when
- 1:07:22I made all this stuff and sunk this in the earth
- 1:07:24made all these things. You don't even know where
- 1:07:26a deer has its children. You know, when you look
- 1:07:32at an ostrich and you think that it's folly,
- 1:07:34I made it. For a purpose. Can you be like the
- 1:07:40hawk? Do you even know it? The fact is, Job doesn't
- 1:07:44know diddly squat. That's the point that God's
- 1:07:47making. Like, you've darkened the council. Here
- 1:07:51I am. Let's talk about what you actually do know.
- 1:07:54Let's do that. And so I want to ask you guys,
- 1:07:57as listeners of us, I want you to understand
- 1:07:59that that's where I came. Because I was like,
- 1:08:02God, why are you doing this to me? And I think
- 1:08:05we've all done that, right? Oh, yeah. But you
- 1:08:08know what? I'm glad he did. I'm glad he did,
- 1:08:13because he showed me things about the ostrich.
- 1:08:15He showed me that things that don't make sense
- 1:08:18are actually part of what he's doing. And I'm
- 1:08:21like, oh. Even when things seem wild and you're
- 1:08:27like, well, when he talks about the wild donkey,
- 1:08:31right? The wild donkey's out there. He's not,
- 1:08:33you're never gonna climb on that thing, put a
- 1:08:36saddle on it and throw some reins on it and leave.
- 1:08:38It's never gonna happen. He's a wild dog. You're
- 1:08:41never going to tame it. God made that. God made
- 1:08:45the thing that cannot be tamed. God made the
- 1:08:47thing that forgets its own eggs and walks off
- 1:08:49and leaves it. But yet he sits there and he shakes
- 1:08:52his feathers, even though he has no plumage.
- 1:08:56God's telling him, like, he acts like a bird,
- 1:08:58but he's not. He doesn't have all the things
- 1:09:01of it. Like, it's the craziest looking creature.
- 1:09:04And it's heartless with its young. Do you think
- 1:09:08when you see a mother out there who is heartless
- 1:09:10with its young, do you think that's out of God's
- 1:09:12control? Guys, when you're watching somebody
- 1:09:16who's on drugs and you see things that are going
- 1:09:19awry, do you think that's out of God's control?
- 1:09:22Do you think it's just the devil doing it? Here's
- 1:09:26my point. A lot of times we like to give the
- 1:09:28devil or the Satan character a lot of ground
- 1:09:32in these kinds of things. Wrong answer. Satan
- 1:09:37is used. To point out things so God can bring
- 1:09:41the fruition. He lets him squeeze it to get the
- 1:09:43oil as as Elaine always brilliant says the press
- 1:09:46of the oil, the press of the oil. Exactly. Yeah.
- 1:09:49Okay. So I don't want to, I don't want to get
- 1:09:50too far off topic here, but I just want to say
- 1:09:51when God is telling Job, you don't know any of
- 1:09:54this and you, you don't even know the things
- 1:09:56around you that you can see. But also what you
- 1:10:00don't realize is that even those things that
- 1:10:02seem whacked out and a little off to you. There
- 1:10:08I am. Absolutely. In other words, there are things
- 1:10:11going on as Leonard Skinner said, there's things
- 1:10:17going on that you don't know. I love that song.
- 1:10:20Never heard it. I don't know what it's called.
- 1:10:22Oh, of course. It's Southern Rock. When you come
- 1:10:25here, I'll play some for you. You need to hear
- 1:10:26it. It's Southern. It's delicious. It's wonderful.
- 1:10:29I like Southern. Can I eat some fried chicken
- 1:10:32at the same time? I'll make you some fried chicken
- 1:10:34and taters. As a matter of fact, what you need
- 1:10:38to do is go down to Pastor Allen's church on
- 1:10:41a Sunday. When they serve a meal, they have this
- 1:10:44barbecue down there. It's so good. I'm gonna
- 1:10:52have to try that because I think they have I
- 1:10:55love going down there when they're having food.
- 1:10:56Hey guys Don't forget about us. We're gonna have
- 1:10:59a little meal down there in Kannapolis Cook down
- 1:11:03there. I mean, it's good. Anyway, all right I'm
- 1:11:10going really sort of like on a limb here. What
- 1:11:14sort of gets to me is when he talks about the
- 1:11:18eagle. It says that the eagle fly up, when you
- 1:11:21say so, to build its nest in the heights. It
- 1:11:23lives and spends its nights on the cliffs. A
- 1:11:26rocky crag is its fortress. From there it spots
- 1:11:29its prey. Its eyes see it afar off. Its young
- 1:11:33ones suck up blood. Wherever the slain are, there
- 1:11:37it is. Or wherever the carcasses gather together,
- 1:11:41there the eagles will be. Yeah. Sounds like Jesus,
- 1:11:45huh? It sounds like Jesus talking about the Romans.
- 1:11:50He does. Where the eagles, where the vultures
- 1:11:52are, or where the dead lay, the vultures were
- 1:11:54gathered. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. And that's,
- 1:11:57that's what I'm saying. I'm wondering whether
- 1:11:59there's a bit of a connection here. I haven't
- 1:12:01really gone into it, but I'm wondering whether,
- 1:12:03because he talks about the wild ox, the ostrich
- 1:12:06that beats its wings wildly. It's like thick
- 1:12:09and stupid. It's very big. It absolutely has
- 1:12:11something to do with this. It absolutely has
- 1:12:14something to do with this and I did look into
- 1:12:16it and the fact is it does, Elaine, because here's
- 1:12:18what's going on. When we talk about the wild
- 1:12:20animals, a lot of times we see those as Gentile
- 1:12:22nations or whatever's going on, right? Well,
- 1:12:24obviously the incense of the Roman army were
- 1:12:26the eagles. They surrounded the city. We know
- 1:12:29this, right? So where the dead lay, the eagles
- 1:12:31will gather. Jesus is saying, so yeah, absolutely.
- 1:12:35Because they said, take him away, Lord. And he
- 1:12:38didn't say, he didn't give a thing. He just said,
- 1:12:40wherever the carcass is. They will be gathered
- 1:12:43together Keep in mind when you're in the book
- 1:12:46of Daniel guys. He uses these the creatures He
- 1:12:49talks about statues and so but he also uses creatures
- 1:12:51and he shows that these nations which have a
- 1:12:54creature head Whether it's a bear or it's a goat
- 1:12:56or a ram. Yeah, right, right. So like he uses
- 1:13:00those things again They are under God's control
- 1:13:05They are God's the one that's behind the narrative.
- 1:13:07God's the one that's carrying his people through
- 1:13:10all of those nations, by the way, to bring the
- 1:13:13Christ into the world. Yeah, that's what I'm
- 1:13:14saying. The only thing is, I've not looked up
- 1:13:17why he would call a wild ox or an ostrich or
- 1:13:20a horse or a hawk or an eagle. I've not really
- 1:13:24gone in deeply into why that he would maybe call
- 1:13:29certain people, certain nations, those maybe
- 1:13:35with false gods. Again, I've not really gone
- 1:13:38into it, but there's definitely something here
- 1:13:41that is telling you something far deeper. It's
- 1:13:44telling you something spiritual, not just about
- 1:13:49the physical. There's something going on here.
- 1:13:52Well, definitely, I think that if we look at,
- 1:13:54like I said about the ostrich. All right, read
- 1:13:57verse 17 and 39. This is exactly what it is.
- 1:14:01Listen to what, I want you to notice how God
- 1:14:03speaks about himself in the third person here.
- 1:14:06Verse 17 in chapter 39. Oh, is that me, 17 and
- 1:14:1218? Yeah, would you read that? Yeah, 17, because
- 1:14:15God has deprived it of wisdom and given it no
- 1:14:18share in understanding. When the time comes,
- 1:14:22it flaps its wings, scorning both horse and rider.
- 1:14:25Okay, so. He speaks about himself in the third
- 1:14:28person, because before then, he's been like an
- 1:14:31eye, an eye, an eye, but here he suddenly shifts
- 1:14:34it, and he's like, because God has made her forget
- 1:14:36wisdom. Sorry? Because God has made her forget
- 1:14:43wisdom. God is saying, it's kind of like, you
- 1:14:46know how in the scriptures, whenever Paul says
- 1:14:48a man is given a measure of faith? Not all of
- 1:14:51us are given the same measure Paul will tell
- 1:14:53you like be careful for your weaker brother if
- 1:14:55you're eating meat sacrifice on the idols He's
- 1:14:57like, I don't I don't care because they're false.
- 1:14:59Anyway, I don't care. I can eat it But if it's
- 1:15:01gonna hurt my brother, I'm not gonna do it. Everybody
- 1:15:03has this measure, right? And so he's saying here
- 1:15:06like the ostrich Here's your spiritual understanding
- 1:15:09is that there are certain levels of things that
- 1:15:11i give for a purpose because i'm the one moving
- 1:15:14the story in the narrative forward and so we
- 1:15:16have to remember like remember this this book
- 1:15:18has been arguing about where is wisdom right
- 1:15:21has been arguing about all the time and god's
- 1:15:23telling you i've got another one that gives it
- 1:15:25measure. That's an important factor in this book
- 1:15:30too. That's why I always try to point out, like
- 1:15:32when I see, at the very beginning of the story,
- 1:15:35Alan asks the question, Pastor Alan Thompson
- 1:15:37asks the question about, do you believe that
- 1:15:38God's in charge of the weather still or do you
- 1:15:40think that now that we're farther advanced? And
- 1:15:42I said, yes, I believe he's in charge of the
- 1:15:44weather. Like I believe God's in charge of every
- 1:15:47atom. In all of the universe, I think he is aware
- 1:15:51of it all. That's what I think. He's immense.
- 1:15:54And I anything that looks crazy out there is
- 1:15:56not crazy to him. No, I think I think again,
- 1:15:59it's all in the plan, isn't it? Yes, it's all
- 1:16:02everything is moving forward in his progression
- 1:16:05the way that God sees it to progress. And that
- 1:16:08is an eternal thing. That is something that never
- 1:16:11ends. It's it's who God is, right? Yeah. All
- 1:16:15right. I'm just like, but she thrives this, this
- 1:16:20remember this ostrich thrives exactly as God
- 1:16:23has intended, even though what she does is bizarre.
- 1:16:26And then he talks about this, you know, the war
- 1:16:28horse, you know, scent, the smell of battle and
- 1:16:31what's amazing about this war horse. So In one
- 1:16:34way, God makes the wild donkey that you can never
- 1:16:36tame, but he also has this amazing creature that's
- 1:16:39fully tamed, that smells battle and wants to
- 1:16:41fight with you. So God has like all of these
- 1:16:45things. He's showing you different aspects of
- 1:16:48his own character in the things that he made.
- 1:16:51See, if you really want to know God, then you
- 1:16:53need to know that side about him too. I think
- 1:16:56I said this in our job study somewhere along
- 1:16:58the way. I said, I think one of the mistakes
- 1:17:00that I made as a parent is that I tried to teach
- 1:17:02my kids fairness, rather than unfairness. And
- 1:17:07I know that sounds weird, okay? But we had, when
- 1:17:13I was growing up, I had a grandmother who would
- 1:17:16always whisper in my ear, you're my favorite.
- 1:17:21But you did to everybody else I spent. Oh, absolutely.
- 1:17:24And I hope my kids, if you ever watch this, I
- 1:17:27want you to know that's why I do it. I've been
- 1:17:30doing it to all my kids, too. I'll tell you I'll
- 1:17:33whisper and I'll say you're my favorite and they'll
- 1:17:34say, no. Samantha, my oldest stepdaughter was.
- 1:17:45I've always said she's the favorite, okay? And
- 1:17:49then I brought it out into the open for everybody.
- 1:17:52And I'm like, Samantha's the favorite, you know?
- 1:17:54And they're all mad at me and everything. But
- 1:17:57the reason I started doing it is because I realized
- 1:18:00that when we teach our kids about fairness, whenever
- 1:18:02unfairness hits them, they feel like they've
- 1:18:04been dissed by God, and that's not true. Sometimes
- 1:18:08things come in life because God want us to have
- 1:18:10that. And when I say sometimes, I mean all of
- 1:18:12it, all the time. All of it is happening. So
- 1:18:15whenever these things hit me, and we were asking
- 1:18:19the question like, God, why did you take Brianna?
- 1:18:22God, why did you take my Aunt Sherry? Why now?
- 1:18:26Why did you take her at this amazing time of
- 1:18:30her life at 17, and then another woman that spent
- 1:18:33her entire life just wasting it? What's happening?
- 1:18:41I stopped asking that question now. God's taught
- 1:18:43me to stop asking that question. Well, the thing
- 1:18:45is, it's a never -ending circle. It just boils
- 1:18:48down to trust that God, if you really believe
- 1:18:50that God is who he is, then you are just going
- 1:18:52to accept that he knows exactly what he's doing.
- 1:18:55Yeah. And guys, I'm not like the ostrich burying
- 1:18:58my head in the sand. I'm accepting it. I'm looking
- 1:19:02around and I'm like, you know what? And that's
- 1:19:04one of the beautiful things about this life is
- 1:19:07that you can look around at everything now, if
- 1:19:09you will. if you'll stop and just take a look
- 1:19:11around and realize God did it all. Absolutely.
- 1:19:15And he's there with you right now. If you want
- 1:19:18it to be with him, you can be. Yeah. And the
- 1:19:21gospel is that God so loved the world and he
- 1:19:23gave his only begotten son that anyone that believeth
- 1:19:26in him should not perish but have eternal life.
- 1:19:29And that is the gospel. And I believe that it's
- 1:19:31to all men. And some people will be like, no,
- 1:19:33it's the Calvinist way. Well, yeah, I believe
- 1:19:36in Calvinism, too, but I think it has a purpose
- 1:19:38and a time frame. But I think that God didn't
- 1:19:41want anyone to perish, but all to come to repentance.
- 1:19:47I think that now understanding just Job 38 and
- 1:19:5139, just the immensity of God and how big he
- 1:19:55is in the universe, and even the things in which
- 1:19:57I can observe, like the crow and how crows, the
- 1:20:01way that they call whenever they have an enemy,
- 1:20:03like a hawk, the way that it works, they actually
- 1:20:05communicate to one another. And I've learned
- 1:20:07how that works with even and odd numbers and
- 1:20:10how to test distance. Crows are incredible creatures.
- 1:20:15But even I don't understand how it works, okay?
- 1:20:20Go ahead. Well, I just wanted to point out that
- 1:20:23even, and so it's the same with the spiritual.
- 1:20:26If you want, when you read the Bible, like we
- 1:20:30are, and you try to understand it with your knowledge,
- 1:20:34you're going to understand some of it. You are.
- 1:20:38But there's a lot of it that you will not understand
- 1:20:40it. Unless you're with him in the spirit it's
- 1:20:42revealed it's spiritually discern you know things
- 1:20:45happen to the spirit that's how you learn it.
- 1:20:48So a lot of the stuff you're talking about here
- 1:20:50a lot of you already know. This is just a refresher
- 1:20:53course for you and some of you may have never
- 1:20:56heard oh you mean. God made the wild ostrich
- 1:20:59that didn't care about its young and that's he
- 1:21:01took away its wisdom on purpose Like yeah, like
- 1:21:04there's that side of God too. That's one of his
- 1:21:06attributes And so you have to you know, you you
- 1:21:09take the good with the bad because this is all
- 1:21:10part of the story and so Yes, there's definitely
- 1:21:15some I'm gonna have to really look into this
- 1:21:17because I'm just getting feelings off There's
- 1:21:20definitely definitely something going on here
- 1:21:23about the end times Well guys, I'll say there
- 1:21:26there definitely is and I'll say guys if you
- 1:21:28will read along think about it And you see us
- 1:21:31as we're in the middle of this study Please get
- 1:21:34ready for the Q &A session and let's let's all
- 1:21:36talk about it Maybe you guys can make comments
- 1:21:38and help us out starts 38 when God starts talking
- 1:21:41and he says I will I will ask you brace yourself
- 1:21:44right knows where were you when I founded the
- 1:21:47earth and Yeah, and then I think when we get
- 1:21:52to the sort of end of it When he says that, you
- 1:21:55know, wherever the slain are, there it is. There's
- 1:22:00definitely something there from the start. Yes,
- 1:22:01there is. Yes, there. Absolutely. Because he's
- 1:22:06telling he's telling the whole story of Israel.
- 1:22:10Job is the whole story of Israel. The whole story
- 1:22:12of Israel. I don't even know whether it is that
- 1:22:15particularly or whether you have to go right
- 1:22:17the way back to. you know, Proverbs 8 and stuff
- 1:22:22like that, about wisdom, you know, I was there
- 1:22:24before this and before that. Yes. Where were
- 1:22:27we when I founded the, who laid the cornerstone?
- 1:22:30Right. Christ was laid far, far back there in
- 1:22:34Genesis chapter one, verse one. So, yes, you're
- 1:22:37not talking about that. But what I'm saying is
- 1:22:40there definitely is there's definitely something
- 1:22:42about the Jews at the end time here. And there's
- 1:22:45something about the horse. There's something
- 1:22:46about the eagle. There's something going on here.
- 1:22:50And I'm, you know, even going down to the, you
- 1:22:53know, to the tender grass and stuff like that.
- 1:22:56Yeah. It's, there's, there's definitely, it's
- 1:22:59definitely taken me back to, I would say going
- 1:23:02back to Genesis, Genesis chapter one, two and
- 1:23:05three, particularly Genesis one. Definitely going
- 1:23:07back here. It'd be interesting to, to have a
- 1:23:10look at that in, uh, in, you know, it's just
- 1:23:13coming to me as I'm looking at it more and more.
- 1:23:16Yeah. Anyway, yeah good stuff. All right. So
- 1:23:19Elaine if you're willing I would like for you
- 1:23:21to read chapter 40 Are you okay with that? Yeah,
- 1:23:26I mean it's like you when you start off all right
- 1:23:29and then the end you're going where were you
- 1:23:31when I and what did you and you think I've got
- 1:23:33to try and sort of say in a way that that would
- 1:23:35be sort of but you end up sort of stumbling and
- 1:23:38bumbling because you sort of Yeah. Anyway, I'm
- 1:23:41just a mere mortal. Forgive me, brothers and
- 1:23:43sisters. Oh, my goodness gracious. You're a wonderful
- 1:23:45reader. Go for it. Here we go. Continuing to
- 1:23:50address Job, Adonai said, Does the critic still
- 1:23:53want to dispute Shaddai? Let him who wants to
- 1:23:56correct God give an answer. Then Job replied
- 1:24:00to Adonai, I am too ashamed. I have nothing to
- 1:24:04say. I lay my hand over my mouth. Yes, I spoke
- 1:24:08once, but I won't answer more. All right, twice,
- 1:24:12but I won't go on. Adonai answered Job out of
- 1:24:16the storm. Stand up like a man, embrace yourself.
- 1:24:20I will ask you, and you give the answers. Are
- 1:24:23you impugning my justice? Putting me in the wrong
- 1:24:26to prove yourself right? Do you have an arm like
- 1:24:30God's? Can you thunder with a voice like his?
- 1:24:33Come on, deck yourself with majesty. and dignity.
- 1:24:36Robe yourself in glory and splendor. Let loose
- 1:24:39your furious anger. Look at all who are proud
- 1:24:42and humble them. Look at all who are proud and
- 1:24:46bring them down. Tread down the wicked where
- 1:24:48they stand. Bury them in the ground together.
- 1:24:51Bind their faces in the hidden world. If you
- 1:24:54do this, then I will confess to you that your
- 1:24:57own power can save you. Now consider Behemoth,
- 1:25:01whom I made along with you. He eats grass like
- 1:25:04an ox. but what strength he has in his loins,
- 1:25:07what power in his stomach muscles. He can make
- 1:25:10his tail as stiff as a cedar. The muscles in
- 1:25:13his thighs are like cables, his bones are like
- 1:25:17bronze pipes, his limbs like iron bars. He ranks
- 1:25:21first among God's works. Only his maker can approach
- 1:25:25him with his sword. The mountains produce food
- 1:25:28for him there, where all the wild animals play.
- 1:25:31He lies down under the thorny lotus bushes, and
- 1:25:35is hidden by the reeds in the swamps. The lotus
- 1:25:37bushes cover him with their shade, and the willows
- 1:25:40by the stream surround him. If the river overflows,
- 1:25:44it doesn't worry him. He is confident even in
- 1:25:47the garden, as even in the Jordan rushes by his
- 1:25:51mouth. Can anyone catch him by his eyes, or pierce
- 1:25:54his nose with a hook? And Leviathan, can you
- 1:25:58catch him with a fishhook? or hold his tongue
- 1:26:00down with a rope? Can you put a ring around his
- 1:26:03nose or pierce his jaw with a barb? Will he entreat
- 1:26:05you at length? Will he speak softly to you? Will
- 1:26:09he agree with you to be your slave forever? Will
- 1:26:11you play with him as you would with a bird or
- 1:26:14keep him on a string to amuse yourself like little
- 1:26:17girls? Will a group of fishermen turn him into
- 1:26:20a banquet? Will they divide him among the merchants?
- 1:26:23Can you fill his skin with darts or his head
- 1:26:26with fish spears if you lay your hand on him?
- 1:26:29You won't forget the fight and you'll never do
- 1:26:32it again. Wow. I know. How far did you read?
- 1:26:39All the way down to 40. Yeah, all the 40 I read.
- 1:26:43Yep. Okay. So, because it sounded like you got
- 1:26:47into 41. No, no, no. Well, are you a complete
- 1:26:54Jewish Bible? Well, I'm looking at it through
- 1:26:57the ESV. 41? Let's see what you said. Yeah, it's
- 1:27:03the end of 40, it's fine. Yeah, you're good.
- 1:27:06All right, so let's just jump right off. Let's
- 1:27:08just jump right off at the beginning here, okay?
- 1:27:11So this is a moment where now God is questioning
- 1:27:14Job. He starts right off, shall the fault finder
- 1:27:17contend with the Almighty? And then he's like,
- 1:27:19he who argues with God, let him answer it. Well,
- 1:27:22who is that? Well, it was Job. This is a direct
- 1:27:25question to Job. He's asking him. Shall a fault
- 1:27:29finder contend with the Almighty? That's a huge
- 1:27:32question. Can a fault finder contend with the
- 1:27:35Almighty? He who questions, he who is arguing
- 1:27:37with God, let him answer it. So Job does. Job
- 1:27:41knows, okay, he's standing, I want you to imagine
- 1:27:43this man who's wrecked, standing in the middle
- 1:27:46of this whirlwind that's blowing all over him,
- 1:27:48and he's hearing the voice of God, and he's like,
- 1:27:50okay, time to answer. Shall a fault finder contend
- 1:27:54with me? And Job says, he says, I am of small
- 1:28:00account. That's good. What shall I answer you?
- 1:28:06Good for you. I lay my hand on my mouth. I've
- 1:28:11spoken once and I will not answer twice, but
- 1:28:14I will proceed no further. So Job is like, I
- 1:28:21need to withdraw my case now, but God's not going
- 1:28:26to let him. All right, so he's like I've already
- 1:28:29stepped it up. I've stepped. What did we call
- 1:28:31it? We've put our foot in her mouth All right.
- 1:28:34I've spoken too far. I don't have any I don't
- 1:28:36have any knowledge I don't even know anything
- 1:28:38about the universe I don't even know about I
- 1:28:39don't even know what the mountain goat has babies
- 1:28:41and yet I'm standing between the maker of all
- 1:28:43of it and demanding that he answers me I withdraw
- 1:28:46it so God gives him the opportunity to say that
- 1:28:49God gives him the opportunity engages with him
- 1:28:51I have I want to point out that this is what
- 1:28:53it felt like whenever I heard Christ for the
- 1:28:56first time in my heart. I suddenly realized I'm
- 1:29:01undone. Like, did you ever feel that way? I'm
- 1:29:04undone? I think when you, again, it's only through
- 1:29:08trials and tribulations that you ask those questions,
- 1:29:10isn't it? And this is the thing that Job through
- 1:29:14his, you know, his very lovely life that he had
- 1:29:17prior to what's going on that we're reading about.
- 1:29:21Nothing really sort of rattled him, did it? But
- 1:29:23now he's going through all of this. He is starting
- 1:29:26to question God, which is brilliant, because
- 1:29:30that's what God wants him to do. I mean, that's
- 1:29:33what he said, Joe spoke right, but you think,
- 1:29:34well, actually, Joe spoke wrong, but he didn't
- 1:29:36speak wrong simply because God said, well, you
- 1:29:38actually confronted me, which is really good.
- 1:29:41I want people to confront me so that I can answer
- 1:29:44them. And I think this is what you're saying
- 1:29:45now, right? You know, you've got to the stage
- 1:29:47now, Joe, where you're starting to wake up internally.
- 1:29:50You're starting to get it. It's not all about
- 1:29:52external. It's what's going on in here. Why is
- 1:29:55this going on with you? And like you say, this
- 1:29:57penny is starting to drop. It's starting to realize,
- 1:30:00well, actually, now you're bringing all these
- 1:30:03things up. It's making me look very like that.
- 1:30:05What did you say? Insignificant or of little
- 1:30:07stature? Yes. I mean, you know, it's like someone's
- 1:30:11really big and all pumped up and then you start
- 1:30:14to sort of tell them something about themselves.
- 1:30:16And instead of, you know, Job hasn't walked and
- 1:30:18songed off, Job's taken it. And all of a sudden
- 1:30:21this great inflated ego or whatever you want
- 1:30:24to call it, this man that's standing there with
- 1:30:26this great sort of like stature is like shrinking,
- 1:30:30shrinking and shrinking. And he realises that
- 1:30:33actually there's nothing left of him at all,
- 1:30:36nothing. But for the grace of God, he's there.
- 1:30:39Yes, he is. And I want you to notice something
- 1:30:42about this this point. Remember, when God first
- 1:30:46speaks to Job, what does he tell him? Gird up
- 1:30:48your loins like a man ready for action. Well,
- 1:30:52God says it again. And I always found that kind
- 1:30:55of interesting. And I think about whenever when
- 1:30:59Paul says we desire to be further clothed. Right.
- 1:31:04It's almost like God is saying further clothed,
- 1:31:06like gird up your loins again, because I've only
- 1:31:09told you a little bit about me. I've told you
- 1:31:12about the this and I've told you about this two
- 1:31:15chapters of my mouth talking to you and you're
- 1:31:17already undone. Who is this man that comes and
- 1:31:21asks me all these things? Well, you wanted it.
- 1:31:23Now you're going to get it. Job says, OK, I want
- 1:31:25to I want to retract my case from you. And God
- 1:31:28says, stand up. Exactly. Yeah. Now, I will take
- 1:31:32you further. We're not done. You learn more.
- 1:31:35I'm going to show you more. And then he's going
- 1:31:37to take us, he's going to show us what I think
- 1:31:39is amazing is I think he's describing physical
- 1:31:42creatures to define spiritual things already.
- 1:31:45But especially here, when he gets into the behemoth,
- 1:31:49I have read and read and read. I've looked at
- 1:31:51scholars. Some people think it's a hippopotamus
- 1:31:53or it's or it's an elephant or it's a brontosaurus,
- 1:31:58you know, that was alive during the time of like
- 1:32:01whatever. Or a rhino. I personally... Huh? Or
- 1:32:07a rhino. Yeah, rhino. I've heard rhino as well.
- 1:32:10The only weird thing about all these really super
- 1:32:12huge powerful creatures that you read about is
- 1:32:14that they don't have these like really large
- 1:32:17tails that swing and smack. The Brontosaurus
- 1:32:20would. It depends whether you're talking about
- 1:32:22Leviathan or Behemoth. Behemoth's the little
- 1:32:25tiny one. Little tiny tail. Well, it's like a
- 1:32:28cedar, stiff and strong. Exactly. And by the
- 1:32:31way, a sapling of a cedar Is very, very tough.
- 1:32:34Okay. But I don't think it's even about that.
- 1:32:35I think personally, it's the hippopotamus because
- 1:32:38that is an animal that lays around outside of
- 1:32:41the river, but then he can go into a torrent.
- 1:32:43And I like, did you notice how it brought up
- 1:32:45the river Jordan? Yes. Isn't that amazing? I
- 1:32:51was like, okay, so Job is from the land of us.
- 1:32:55Right. He's from the land of us. And we know
- 1:32:58that Elihu was the cousin. Buzz and us and like
- 1:33:01where they are in the Levant. How does this work
- 1:33:04and the Jordan is brought up and oh My goodness
- 1:33:08when it hit I was like, oh my goodness You know,
- 1:33:13he said he is confident though Jordan rushes
- 1:33:15against his mouth. Have you guys ever seen pictures
- 1:33:18of like hippopotamus? You know big they are right.
- 1:33:20You know how strong they are Yeah, and then like
- 1:33:23you notice like whenever a torrent comes down
- 1:33:26like imagine the river Jordan after a giant flood
- 1:33:28or us like with hurricane Helene Imagine us and
- 1:33:33hurricane Helene and how a hippo wouldn't give
- 1:33:35two craps about what was going on He thinks Russian
- 1:33:39and he'd be like it's taken in his mouth like
- 1:33:43sweet now the torrent that we had here with all
- 1:33:47the mountains and the woods and all that stuff,
- 1:33:49it just swept him down, but I don't think it
- 1:33:50killed him necessarily. But the point is, is
- 1:33:52that God's trying to say, that thing that you're
- 1:33:56talking about, like that guy that you're looking
- 1:33:57at, I made him. I made him. He can handle it.
- 1:34:05I made him. So all of this, even when you look
- 1:34:07at something so immense and with such power,
- 1:34:09I made that too. And can you snare him by the
- 1:34:14nose? Right. Can you do this? His shade, the
- 1:34:17lotus trees cover him. The willows of the brooks
- 1:34:20surround him like he's in this people peaceful
- 1:34:23place. But even when the torrents come, he doesn't
- 1:34:24matter. He just swallows it out his mouth because
- 1:34:27that's who he is. That's what I made him. So
- 1:34:28I've given I've removed wisdom from the ostrich,
- 1:34:33but I've given him confidence in the storm. This
- 1:34:36one. Right. It made me think of Jesus. And although
- 1:34:40this is probably a stretch, it's something that
- 1:34:42I wanted to point out. Jesus was asleep during
- 1:34:46the storm. Jesus was sleeping through the torrent.
- 1:34:52And the disciples were paling out the water and
- 1:34:54they're perishing and they're afraid. And they
- 1:34:57wake him up. And they're like, Lord, we're perishing.
- 1:35:03Yeah. Don't you get it? Did he get up and say,
- 1:35:08oh boy, I'm terrified? Or did he open his mouth
- 1:35:10and the storm stop? Which happened? So, you know,
- 1:35:14yeah, it's a stretch, but I think that's the
- 1:35:16point is that I think the very thing that Christ
- 1:35:19is God in flesh form. Thank you. The winds and
- 1:35:22the waves obey him. I think this is once again,
- 1:35:24this is sort of like capitalizing on what we're
- 1:35:27reading here in Joe. And it goes all the way
- 1:35:29back to what he said when he started, which was
- 1:35:30the cornerstone. When he very first started,
- 1:35:33he's like, who set the cornerstone? Exactly.
- 1:35:36And he spoke everything to creation by the word
- 1:35:38of his mouth. And the word said, let there be
- 1:35:40light, and there was. That's right. Exactly.
- 1:35:43So again, this is all playing out to what we
- 1:35:47see in the New Testament. Oh, guys, when we get
- 1:35:50to chapter 42, you'll see it. We're getting there.
- 1:35:52We're getting there when we get to chapter 42.
- 1:35:53So here's what I'm going to do. There's no sense
- 1:35:55in me going through it. I'm not going to tell
- 1:35:57you what the behemoth is. I personally think
- 1:35:58it's the hippopotamus. And I think that they
- 1:36:00were able to observe the hippopotamus that could
- 1:36:02do all of that. But I think there are spiritual
- 1:36:04meanings that go far above it. But God is showing
- 1:36:08him all of these things. That's who I am. And
- 1:36:12Job has just said, I want to retract my statement.
- 1:36:14God says, no. Stand up, gird yourself and take
- 1:36:19it. You're going to be further clothed. I'm going
- 1:36:21to show you who I am. Now, chapter 41. If my
- 1:36:27thing will work, wave my hand. Now, this is why
- 1:36:32I was asking how far you read because... It sort
- 1:36:37of sounded like chapter 41. That's where my brain
- 1:36:39is. It goes into this. There's 41. It starts
- 1:36:45with, look, any hope of capturing him. So it's
- 1:36:49continuing on with what it was saying right before,
- 1:36:53which in my book, it kind of ends. in ESV. This
- 1:36:58is verse 31 and 32 of the previous chapter. I'm
- 1:37:02just going to work my way in, Elaine, where you
- 1:37:04ended. Can you fill his skin with darts or his
- 1:37:06head with fish spears? If you lay your hand on
- 1:37:09him, you won't forget the fight and you'll never
- 1:37:11do it again. Look, any hope of capturing him
- 1:37:15is futile. One would fall prostrate at the very
- 1:37:19sight of him. No one is fierce enough to rouse
- 1:37:21him. So who can stand up to me? Yeah, and that's
- 1:37:26just something that got created. Who has given
- 1:37:30me anything and made me pay it back? Everything
- 1:37:33belongs to me under all of heaven. By the way,
- 1:37:36that's a great question, isn't it? Who has given
- 1:37:38me anything and made me pay it back? You realize
- 1:37:41God's never had that happen to him? No. Ever?
- 1:37:45No. We have. All right. I have more to say about
- 1:37:48his limbs, his strong talk and his matchless
- 1:37:51strength. Who can strip off his scaly garment?
- 1:37:54Who can enter his jaws? Who can pry open the
- 1:37:57doors of his face so close to his terrible teeth?
- 1:38:01His pride is his rows of scales, tightly sealed
- 1:38:04together. One is so close to the next that no
- 1:38:07air can come between them. They are stuck one
- 1:38:10to another, interlocked and impervious. When
- 1:38:12he sneezes, light flashes out. His eyes are like
- 1:38:16the shimmer of dawn. From his mouth go fiery
- 1:38:20torches, and sparks come flying out. His nostrils
- 1:38:24belch steam like a cauldron boiling on the fire.
- 1:38:28His breath sets coals ablaze, flames pour from
- 1:38:31his mouth. Strength resides in his neck and dismay
- 1:38:34dances ahead of him as he goes. The layers of
- 1:38:38his flesh stick together. They are firm on him,
- 1:38:42immovable. His heart is as hard as a stone, yet
- 1:38:46hard as a lower millstone. When he rears himself
- 1:38:52up the gods are afraid what? Do you hear that?
- 1:38:59When he rears himself up the gods are afraid
- 1:39:02beside themselves in despair You think we're
- 1:39:05talking about just a regular old animal anymore?
- 1:39:10If a sword touches him, it won't stick. Neither
- 1:39:12will a spear or a dart or a lance. He regards
- 1:39:15iron as straw and bronze as rotten wood. An arrow
- 1:39:18can't make him flee. For him, sling stones are
- 1:39:22so much chaff. Clubs count as hay, and he laughs
- 1:39:27at a quivering javelin. His belly is as sharp
- 1:39:29as fragments of pottery, so he moves across the
- 1:39:32mud like a threshing sledge. That's why we think
- 1:39:36it's a crocodile, but he's looking at it in the
- 1:39:39spirit like beyond Me and Elaine have been talking
- 1:39:42behind the scenes. He makes the depth seed like
- 1:39:45a pot He makes the sea like a perfume kettle
- 1:39:47He leaves a shining wake behind him making the
- 1:39:50deep seem to have white hair on earth There is
- 1:39:53nothing like him a creature without fear. He
- 1:39:56looks straight at all high things He is king
- 1:40:00over all proud beasts All right. I want to make
- 1:40:07mention of one thing real quick before we get
- 1:40:09too deep. I want you to notice number one, Satan
- 1:40:13is never mentioned again in this book. But I
- 1:40:17think what you're seeing here is the ultimate
- 1:40:21Satan on earth. Like I think what you're seeing
- 1:40:25here is what you will find later is the great
- 1:40:28sea beast and the land beast that we hear about
- 1:40:31in Revelation. Like this is a character. I think
- 1:40:35in the ancient Near East that they would talk
- 1:40:37about this kind of god or this kind of creature.
- 1:40:41It sounds like a dragon, doesn't it? Got the
- 1:40:43scales and then he blows fire out of his mouth.
- 1:40:45It sounds like a dragon and it terrifies the
- 1:40:47gods. Like what is he talking about here? And
- 1:40:50I started looking in history, the Ugaritic writings
- 1:40:53talked about this kind of a creature too. It's
- 1:40:54a chaos sea beast character, the Leviathan. Remember,
- 1:40:58Job mentions him earlier on, the Rahab or the
- 1:41:00Leviathan that's spoken about. So, this is the
- 1:41:03ultimate chaos monster. The ultimate chaos monster.
- 1:41:06Like, the biggest enemy you could ever think.
- 1:41:10God made him. And that's the point. God made
- 1:41:14him too. Even the worst... thing, the most powerful,
- 1:41:18fearsome thing that even the gods would shake
- 1:41:20and quake in their boots over. God made it too.
- 1:41:22That includes the Satan character in chapter
- 1:41:24one and chapter two. That includes the Satan
- 1:41:27character that Jesus faces in the wilderness.
- 1:41:29It includes the Satan character that stands in
- 1:41:32front of Balaam. It includes, which was the angel
- 1:41:35of the Lord, by the way, the Satan character.
- 1:41:37And then later on, the same old serpent that
- 1:41:41John mentions in Revelation. I think it's chapter
- 1:41:4315. That same old serpent the devil Yeah, I'm
- 1:41:52just I know you're I know where you're at you're
- 1:41:55There's something going on here that I can't
- 1:41:58put my finger on it's just coming to me just
- 1:42:01by reading it You know, it's just that there's
- 1:42:03something that's that's it's almost like the
- 1:42:07culmination in these beasts That's right right
- 1:42:12at the end God God is and we're getting ready
- 1:42:16to cross over the threshold When we get into
- 1:42:18chapter 42, okay Remember, he's asked him to
- 1:42:21get up the loins and he said God himself said
- 1:42:24I need to tell you more about this beast Do you
- 1:42:27notice? Yeah said that I need to tell you a little
- 1:42:30bit more about this piece. I'm not done talking
- 1:42:31about him yet Okay So you haven't heard about
- 1:42:35the Satan character and he hasn't been around
- 1:42:37He's been speaking through his friends in my
- 1:42:39opinion and then you get to the end and God starts
- 1:42:41talking about this Chaotic sea beast. In my opinion,
- 1:42:47guys, the same chaotic sea beast is the one that's
- 1:42:49represented as the Satan character in the Sons
- 1:42:51of God. He's the one that's up there saying,
- 1:42:54if you take all of these things away from him,
- 1:42:56he'll curse you. If you do this to him, he'll
- 1:42:58curse you. And God says, oh, I made him to do
- 1:43:02that. Have you ever thought of that? I made him
- 1:43:06to do that. I'm really sort of starting to see
- 1:43:12something sort of slightly different. On Earth,
- 1:43:16there is nothing like him, a creature without
- 1:43:18fear. He looks straight at all high things. He's
- 1:43:21king over all proud beasts. Right. Who is that?
- 1:43:26Who is that? I don't know. If you're king over
- 1:43:29all proud beasts, you could look at it two ways.
- 1:43:31You know, you could say that you're king over
- 1:43:33all of those that think that they are something,
- 1:43:35but they are not. or you could say that you are
- 1:43:38king over those because you are the epitome of
- 1:43:41that which is proud. I think it's kind of like
- 1:43:44whenever you read Ezekiel when he talks about
- 1:43:46the Prince of Tyre or he talks about you know
- 1:43:49you have these these different people oh how
- 1:43:52you tried to rise up you were in the garden of
- 1:43:54God you were in the stones and then you lifted
- 1:43:56yourself above me oh Lucifer son of the morning
- 1:43:59right. Well Thessalonians haven't you you've
- 1:44:01got him right you know sitting himself in that
- 1:44:03temple as if he is God. The man of lawlessness,
- 1:44:06yeah. So these things that keep showing up like
- 1:44:10this, this chaos beast, this Satan character,
- 1:44:14whoever it is, this Leviathan thing, in the Ugaritic
- 1:44:18it was a multiple, in the Greeks it was a multiple
- 1:44:20headed, like it's over and over. The Hydra is
- 1:44:23what it's really talking about. It's like this
- 1:44:25sea beast creature that can blow fire and nobody
- 1:44:28can catch it. I think it's talking about crocodiles
- 1:44:30and also talking about the ultimate. the ultimate
- 1:44:33chaos beast. And if you want Elaine, you can
- 1:44:37do, we can do a follow -up if you're really,
- 1:44:39really digging in and seeing something here.
- 1:44:42And we can talk about it in our Q &A and our
- 1:44:44Q &A will be as long as it needs to be. We'll
- 1:44:47keep Elaine up all night long, right? That'll
- 1:44:50give you till Thursday to get ready. Yeah, but
- 1:44:53as I say, I'd really like to, cause again, you
- 1:44:55know, he's talking about the Behemoth and Leviathan.
- 1:45:00I don't know. It's, Like he says there, now consider
- 1:45:03the behemoth whom I made along with you. And
- 1:45:06then you've got Leviathan. Can you catch him
- 1:45:09with a fishhook? Look, the behemoth is the land
- 1:45:15beast, and the Leviathan is the sea beast, and
- 1:45:17you're going to find them in Revelation. And
- 1:45:19it's a combination. It's the clay and the iron
- 1:45:22that mix together at the base of the statue.
- 1:45:25He's telling the story of Israel. And we are
- 1:45:28that Israel. It's not done, OK? We are the Israel
- 1:45:30beast. it's definitely it's definitely this is
- 1:45:33what I'm saying there's definitely the end again
- 1:45:36because you go back to Genesis you've got you
- 1:45:39know it says and and and land came dry land appeared
- 1:45:42in waters and he separated the waters and made
- 1:45:45them see so again so you've got these two separate
- 1:45:48sort of characters going on here that I made
- 1:45:50both of them And I believe that the behemoth
- 1:45:54is showing where Israel is apostate and I think
- 1:45:57that the sea beast is Rome That's coming in and
- 1:46:00they're working together at some point and then
- 1:46:02they're destroyed like it's telling the whole
- 1:46:04story of Israel Absolutely telling the whole
- 1:46:06story. It absolutely is and I mean from start
- 1:46:09to finish. I don't mean the whole story I mean
- 1:46:11like from its inception till Christ and the fulfillment
- 1:46:15of us That's right Author and finisher of the
- 1:46:22faith. I am the aid of the Z. I'm the beginning
- 1:46:24of the end. Exactly. And I mean, even going in
- 1:46:2639, like we said, you know, going into the animals
- 1:46:29here and talks about like the horse and going
- 1:46:31into battle and it looks like a locus. But there's
- 1:46:34things like that in Revelation. That's right.
- 1:46:36And they're not frightened of anything. No. I
- 1:46:39mean, they go, they're scales. I mean, when they,
- 1:46:41when you think about it as well, that, you know,
- 1:46:43they've got that, you know, when they put their
- 1:46:45shields, they're so close knit, aren't they?
- 1:46:48Nothing pierces it. That's right. And you know
- 1:46:50what? That's right. That's that's how Rome did
- 1:46:53it, didn't it? Right. That's exactly OK. So let's
- 1:46:57let's go ahead and read 42. And I think it's
- 1:47:01only right that Elaine reads the final chapter
- 1:47:03of the book. Are you OK with that? Why me? Pretty
- 1:47:08please because you have a beautiful voice, but
- 1:47:09you've been you've read most that you have and
- 1:47:11you've read most of this book Trying to say I
- 1:47:14don't want to do it. So no and actually I love
- 1:47:16reading out loud, but I want you to read this
- 1:47:19please And listen guys listen You've heard us
- 1:47:23just we've kind of like went all over the map
- 1:47:24here. We've been talking to you for almost two
- 1:47:26hours We're going to close up this study here
- 1:47:27in just a few minutes, but I want you to think
- 1:47:29about something God's told the whole of the story
- 1:47:32in my opinion and he's used job to do this and
- 1:47:35what's really unique is is that in order to create
- 1:47:38the greater Israel, you've got to have the chaos
- 1:47:40beast. In order to create the greater Israel
- 1:47:43in His Son, you have to have suffering. All of
- 1:47:46this is part of it. I don't know why. I'm not
- 1:47:49going to give you the answer why, other than
- 1:47:51that's what God wants from us. He wants us to
- 1:47:54endure and to be in relationship with Him. Do
- 1:47:56you know what, Rick? I think it is because at
- 1:47:58the end of the day, you know if they did they
- 1:48:00hadn't eaten of the tree of the knowledge of
- 1:48:01good and evil we wouldn't be in the situation
- 1:48:04that we are now but i think the situation that
- 1:48:06we're in now is beneficial for us simply because
- 1:48:10it it won't happen again because we've chosen
- 1:48:12to eat the fruit of christ yes and i think you're
- 1:48:16everything Yes, I think that the effect of good
- 1:48:19and evil, that tree is what it means to be an
- 1:48:21atom, that we're all born into this world. And
- 1:48:24that in order to know Christ, you must be born
- 1:48:25again. And then you go into the spirit realm.
- 1:48:27And then from there we shed our earthly tent
- 1:48:29and we're with him. But you don't understand
- 1:48:31all of that unless you have the chaos beast and
- 1:48:33you have the suffering. You go back to Genesis
- 1:48:351 verse 3, verse 2. Now the earth was without
- 1:48:40form and chaos. Right. So who are we talking
- 1:48:43about? All of these beasts. these are nations,
- 1:48:46these are peoples, these are attitudes, these
- 1:48:48are conditions. So God is using all of those
- 1:48:51things to bring about a condition. This is the
- 1:48:53chaos that's been brought about by Adam, who
- 1:48:55was created from the dust of the ground. He produced
- 1:48:58it. Who sold us down the river, as you say. Who
- 1:49:02sold us down the river. Exactly, he did sell
- 1:49:05us down the river. Literally, I mean, the deep
- 1:49:07is the river that he sold us down, because everybody
- 1:49:09that came from his loins had the same defect.
- 1:49:12We are all born in darkness, but it was only
- 1:49:15those that he said, let there be light. And he
- 1:49:18drew like it's a flutter is over and it's lapping
- 1:49:21up the waters. And so therefore, yeah, once again,
- 1:49:24we're going back to this, this wonderful love
- 1:49:26story that was right there. And we just said
- 1:49:28about the, where was you when the earth was formed
- 1:49:30and I laid the cornerstone? Well, yeah, that's
- 1:49:34going right the way back to Genesis again. It's
- 1:49:35taken us right the way back, you know. and all
- 1:49:38the animals we've said that before the animals
- 1:49:40all the way through scriptures you know we've
- 1:49:42got animals depicting nations depicting individuals
- 1:49:45depicting whoever groups of people sheeps and
- 1:49:48goats and you know nations you know world powers
- 1:49:53and individuals so yeah it's all and it all goes
- 1:49:57back to genesis the first adam and it goes back
- 1:50:00to the reality which is christ which is the the
- 1:50:03last adam Yeah. The whole thing is just - I know.
- 1:50:07It's all - Elaine. He's so connected. Did you
- 1:50:10know - Did you know all of this was in the book
- 1:50:12of Job? Me? Did you - Yeah, did you know that
- 1:50:15all of - No! Had none of this happen would we
- 1:50:18have not like look all of this is in the book
- 1:50:20of job Did you guys know that's like are you
- 1:50:23kidding me? All right, so let's let's finish
- 1:50:25up Let's if you would read the last 16 verses
- 1:50:28of this book Let's close out our study and then
- 1:50:31guys will it will tell you that we're gonna do
- 1:50:33a Q &A I'm gonna say Thursday at 6 p .m. This
- 1:50:35Thursday at 6 p .m Elaine you and I will talk
- 1:50:38behind the scenes if anything changes look on
- 1:50:40patreon I'll put a notice out so that you guys
- 1:50:42can join us. Okay excellent prices Then, at last,
- 1:50:47Job gave Adonai this answer. I know that you
- 1:50:51can do everything, that no purpose of yours can
- 1:50:54be thwarted. You asked, who is this hiding council
- 1:50:57without having knowledge? Yes, I spoke without
- 1:51:01understanding of wonders far beyond me, which
- 1:51:04I didn't know. Please listen and I will speak,
- 1:51:07you said. I will question and you give me answers.
- 1:51:11I had heard about you with my ears. But now my
- 1:51:15eye sees you. Boom. I love it. Boom. Therefore,
- 1:51:21I detest myself. Yes, we do. And repent in dust
- 1:51:24and ashes. After Adonai had spoken these words
- 1:51:28to Joe, Adonai said to Eliphas, the Timmini.
- 1:51:32What? He's going to talk to Eliphas. Here we
- 1:51:35go. Yeah. My Adonai is blazing against you and
- 1:51:40your two friends because Unlike my servant, Job,
- 1:51:46you have not spoken rightly about me. So now
- 1:51:50get yourselves seven young bulls and seven rams
- 1:51:54and go to my servant Job and offer up yourselves
- 1:51:57a burnt offering. My servant Job will pray for
- 1:52:01you because him I will accept so that I won't
- 1:52:04punish you as your boorishness deserves because
- 1:52:08you have not spoken rightly about me. as my servant
- 1:52:12Job has. What? I know. So Eliphaz, the Temunai,
- 1:52:18Bildad, the Suki, and so far the Naamati went
- 1:52:23and did what Adonai had ordered them to do, and
- 1:52:26Adonai accepted Job's prayer. When Job prayed
- 1:52:30for his friends, Adonai restored his fortunes.
- 1:52:34Adonai gave him twice as much as he had before.
- 1:52:37Then all of his brothers and sisters came to
- 1:52:39him. Also all who had known him before, and they
- 1:52:43ate a meal with him in his house. They consoled
- 1:52:46and comforted him for all the evils Adonai had
- 1:52:49inflicted on him. Each one gave him a piece of
- 1:52:51silver and a gold ring. Adonai blessed Job's
- 1:52:55later situation even more than his earlier one.
- 1:52:58He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand
- 1:53:01camels, a thousand pairs of oxen, and a thousand
- 1:53:05female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three
- 1:53:09daughters. The first he named Yamima, the second
- 1:53:13Kitsiya, and the third Keren Hapuka. Nowhere
- 1:53:18in the land could women be found as beautiful
- 1:53:21as Job's daughters, and their father gave them
- 1:53:23inheritances along with their brothers. After
- 1:53:26this, Job lived 140 years, long enough to see
- 1:53:30his sons and grandsons, four generations. Then,
- 1:53:34old and full of days, Job died. Mm. Listen. It
- 1:53:41brings tears to your eyes because it's so beautiful.
- 1:53:44It was 17 verses. I said 16. Listen, excellent
- 1:53:48job, Elaine, reading this whole time during the
- 1:53:50series. Bless you and you. But listen, listen,
- 1:53:53guys, this is this is such a wild part. I love
- 1:53:57this. So Joe comes right out and he's like, you
- 1:54:01asked, who is this hiding counsel without having
- 1:54:04knowledge? Yet I spoke without understanding
- 1:54:07so he's like when God finally comes to him He's
- 1:54:10like, okay Who is this that does this, you know,
- 1:54:12and he makes him stand and stand and deal with
- 1:54:14it He finally gets it. He says you know what?
- 1:54:17There were wonders far beyond me, which I didn't
- 1:54:19know I will speak You give me answers. You said
- 1:54:23give me answers God you said you speak now and
- 1:54:26you give me answers here and I love this I heard
- 1:54:29about you with my ears But now my eye sees you
- 1:54:33I know That's this inner person, isn't it? Let
- 1:54:37me ask you guys a question. Do you think he could
- 1:54:39see a whirlwind? Do I think he could see a whirlwind?
- 1:54:43Do you think Job could actually see a whirlwind?
- 1:54:45I think he could see, I don't know whether he
- 1:54:47actually saw a whirlwind as, you know, dust blowing
- 1:54:50around. What did Jesus say? What did Jesus say
- 1:54:53to Nicodemus? He said, you see, being born from
- 1:54:58above is like this. The wind goes wherever it
- 1:55:01wants. And you can hear it. You can see its effect,
- 1:55:06right? But you don't know where it's coming from.
- 1:55:09You don't know where it's going. The same with
- 1:55:10those born of the Spirit. This whirlwind is representation
- 1:55:14of that, in my opinion, of the new covenant kingdom
- 1:55:17that's coming, and it's by the Spirit. And Job
- 1:55:20says, and now I see you. Look, what did Jesus
- 1:55:23always say? For those who have ears to hear,
- 1:55:25let them hear what the Spirit says. They have
- 1:55:28eyes but they cannot see because they're blind,
- 1:55:31right? Job is showing us what it means to be
- 1:55:33born again. You remember what it says in Corinthians
- 1:55:37where it says, when there is a turning to Christ,
- 1:55:39the veil is taken away. Yes. It's this understanding,
- 1:55:45it's this heart movement that you know this person
- 1:55:51who they are. So instead of just hearing about
- 1:55:53you or heard about you, Now you see it and that's
- 1:55:56what it says. The veil is taken away. You can
- 1:56:00see with the perception, with the understanding,
- 1:56:04with the trusting, it's internal. It's not with
- 1:56:07your eyes, it's not physically that you see.
- 1:56:10It's an internal seeing. It's a movement within.
- 1:56:14And this is what Job is saying, the thing, everything
- 1:56:16was external. It started externally. It's a bit
- 1:56:20like the Jews, they had the law, externally they
- 1:56:23saw it, they did this, they did that, they offered
- 1:56:24up this, blah, blah, blah, same as Job. But then
- 1:56:27when the veil is taken away in Christ, they see
- 1:56:31fully, they understand fully who God actually
- 1:56:34is. It's not about external, it's about internal.
- 1:56:39That's right. This is what I think that Job is
- 1:56:41now saying, he says, I heard, I heard about you,
- 1:56:45but now I see you. And then what's amazing, that
- 1:56:50he turns and he speaks to Eliphaz Eliphaz didn't
- 1:56:55ask for that did he? No. But because of what
- 1:57:00happens to Job Eliphaz does come to him Eliphaz
- 1:57:04does come to him like to be with him he eventually
- 1:57:06you know accuses him of things that he shouldn't
- 1:57:08be but he comes to him as a brother but what
- 1:57:11ends up happening is that you get this this effect
- 1:57:17As you draw closer to God, even your enemies
- 1:57:20or even your friends, whatever, can be spoken
- 1:57:22to by God as well. That's one part of it. There's
- 1:57:26another part of the big story, which is the Gentiles
- 1:57:28are coming in. Okay, so he then will speak to
- 1:57:32them and that's where he sends Paul to go after
- 1:57:35them. Okay, so Christ was first and then after
- 1:57:38Peter and Paul, that's where it starts to go
- 1:57:40to the Gentiles. This is that scene, right, where
- 1:57:43God is now speaking to the Eliphaz, but they
- 1:57:46still have to be, they have to come in, but they
- 1:57:48have to do it under Job's sacrifices. Exactly.
- 1:57:52Which is where the Gentiles come in, but it comes
- 1:57:54under Christ who is the Jew first. First for
- 1:57:58the Jew and then Okay, so that's the story that's
- 1:58:00being told here, but but then Because he says
- 1:58:05there I know that you can do everything that
- 1:58:07no purpose of yours Can be thwarted right? What
- 1:58:12is the purpose? What is the ultimate goal? It's
- 1:58:16to bring Christ into the world and for great
- 1:58:19for Christ to be that one that tears down the
- 1:58:21wall of separation and then brings together under
- 1:58:26Christ, under knowing God, under seeing Him,
- 1:58:28not just hearing about Him. It is the story of
- 1:58:31the gospel. It is. It's the whole story of Israel.
- 1:58:36I've been saying that. Yeah, absolutely. All
- 1:58:38right. So now he tells him to get seven young
- 1:58:40bulls and seven rams and to offer and then go
- 1:58:45to Job. So he's telling Elphi, you go bring the
- 1:58:47sacrifice to my servant Job. OK. And then he
- 1:58:50tells him, like, you guys didn't speak right
- 1:58:52of me. But he says, If he does it for you, I'll
- 1:58:58accept it on behalf of you, and I won't punish
- 1:59:02you as your boorishness deserves because you
- 1:59:08have not spoken rightly about me as my servant
- 1:59:09Job has. So as you've known, even though Elihu
- 1:59:13comes and jumps down Job's throat because he
- 1:59:16wasn't giving God the right, which he was right
- 1:59:19about, Job, he didn't misspeak. We know this
- 1:59:23now. God himself said it. You didn't speak rightly
- 1:59:26of me. See, you weren't representing me truthfully,
- 1:59:30whereas Job was, honestly. Yeah, he darkened
- 1:59:33my counsel without knowledge, but that doesn't
- 1:59:36mean that he's wrong. He just needs to know me
- 1:59:39further. This is the whole thing, isn't it, that
- 1:59:41you think because God is just, your reasoning
- 1:59:43is, well, you must have done something, because
- 1:59:45if God is just, he wouldn't be inflicting something
- 1:59:47like that upon you, because that's not, you consider,
- 1:59:50well, that's not justice. So therefore they reasoned
- 1:59:54wrongly about God. And that was the whole point.
- 1:59:57And they were taking that as gospel, if you like.
- 2:00:01That is what God is. But it was so far removed
- 2:00:04from what God was. It's a bit like the Jews coming
- 2:00:06up against the Christians. It's a bit like the
- 2:00:08Jews coming up against Christ, you know, thinking
- 2:00:11that they knew everything, thinking that this
- 2:00:12is the Lord, that's it. I give a tenth of this
- 2:00:14and I offer up that and blah, blah, blah. And
- 2:00:16I'm doing it all correctly, but they just totally
- 2:00:18miss seeing him. Yeah. That it's so, I mean,
- 2:00:23I never knew Job was about this, Elaine. But
- 2:00:26get ready. Get ready for this one. This is this
- 2:00:30is probably my most favorite part of this book.
- 2:00:32And I've been through this book the whole time.
- 2:00:34But listen to this. So after he prays. It says
- 2:00:39right here that his whole family comes back to
- 2:00:42him, so that means that his family were there
- 2:00:43the whole time, but they didn't come to him,
- 2:00:45did they? His friends did there was a purpose
- 2:00:48for this. Okay, but his family were there so
- 2:00:50now everything's back and his brothers and sisters
- 2:00:52come on or whatever and They consoled and comfort
- 2:00:55him for all the evils that Adonai had done It's
- 2:00:59acknowledging the fact that God had done this
- 2:01:00to him. He allowed it And each one gave him a
- 2:01:04piece of silver and a gold ring There's something
- 2:01:10there all right Ad and I bless Job's later situation
- 2:01:14even more than his earlier when he had 14 ,000
- 2:01:16camels remember earlier He had 7 ,000. He had
- 2:01:19sick or sheep. He had 6 ,000 camels. He had 3
- 2:01:21,000 camels at the beginning He had 1 ,000 pairs
- 2:01:24of oxen yet He had 500 pairs of oxen at the beginning
- 2:01:27of the story and then 1 ,000 female donkeys He
- 2:01:29had 500 female donkeys at the beginning of the
- 2:01:32story. Okay, but I want you to listen to this
- 2:01:34He also had seven sons and three daughters Now
- 2:01:37I didn't say that he gave him a double amount
- 2:01:40of sons and daughters did it The reason why is
- 2:01:43because those first sons and daughters still
- 2:01:44matter in the posterity. They do. 100%. They
- 2:01:47still matter later in the story for Job as well.
- 2:01:50They do. Okay, they do. But I want you to notice
- 2:01:53something about the Book of Job. Do they ever
- 2:01:56name the sons? No. But they name the three daughters,
- 2:02:00don't they? They do. They're born after this.
- 2:02:04Don't you find that kind of interesting? I do.
- 2:02:06And then the fact it says there. that nowhere
- 2:02:08in the land could women be found as beautiful
- 2:02:11as Job's daughters. And again, it is this beauty.
- 2:02:15I don't think it was taught. It may have been
- 2:02:17physically as well, but I think that internally
- 2:02:20it's talking about this beauty that they see
- 2:02:23God. And yes, that is beautiful and I love it.
- 2:02:27But you know what I think the most important
- 2:02:29thing about those daughters? It's the next verse.
- 2:02:32Listen to what he says. And their father gave
- 2:02:36them inheritances along with their brothers.
- 2:02:39I knew you. That's the same thing as me. The
- 2:02:41same thing as me. Because in those times... That
- 2:02:45does not happen. No. That does not happen. No,
- 2:02:49but what do we know about men and women in the
- 2:02:53New Testament? What do we know about that? When
- 2:02:54Jesus comes out of the tomb, does he immediately
- 2:02:58run to Peter? No. Who does he go to? Mary. Yeah.
- 2:03:05Right. Or the women are there. Women are the
- 2:03:09well. Sitting down with Mary, Martha's faffing
- 2:03:13about doing dinners. It is women. And this is,
- 2:03:17and they have inherited, inherited, inherited.
- 2:03:21Oh. Inherited. Inherited. You got it. inheritances
- 2:03:26along with their brothers and again it's this
- 2:03:28equality being brought out isn't it because in
- 2:03:31you know when you look back there like you said
- 2:03:33there is neither male nor female uh -huh and
- 2:03:37that's the whole thing Jew nor Greek slave nor
- 2:03:40free it's the whole thing here they're all getting
- 2:03:44the same inheritance and we know what that inheritance
- 2:03:48is yes we have it Guys, Job is the total story
- 2:03:53of Israel and how to become a high priest and
- 2:03:55how Christ is the one that did it. That's what
- 2:03:57it's about. That's what it's about. And Elihu
- 2:04:01represents John the Baptist. By the way, guys,
- 2:04:04you don't hear another thing about Elihu before
- 2:04:07or after. In my opinion, he's the John the Baptist.
- 2:04:10And I think that he says he must decrease so
- 2:04:13that Christ can increase. I think that that's
- 2:04:14the whole point. He's the one that brings the
- 2:04:16whirlwind and it shows you that this is it. He's
- 2:04:18like the mediator between the two. He's the go
- 2:04:20-between, isn't it? You know, he's got this bit
- 2:04:23and then he hands it over. Yeah. Someone's trying
- 2:04:29to ring. Can somebody ring you? No, that's how
- 2:04:32do I deny? No, stop, stop. Message i ring you
- 2:04:36in a bit console right now that's it go oh dear
- 2:04:40sorry. That's it gone sorry about that yeah that's
- 2:04:46okay so so here all right so we're at the end
- 2:04:49of the story we're at the end of job and the
- 2:04:52link that says is that and after this job lived
- 2:04:54a hundred and forty years okay remember that
- 2:04:57means that it was prior to the time whenever
- 2:04:58god would not live let people live past one hundred
- 2:05:01and twenty years you can go back and see that
- 2:05:03okay. Long enough to see his sons and grandsons,
- 2:05:06four generations. Hang on a minute. Bye, darling.
- 2:05:09Here's going my husband. Bye, darling. See you
- 2:05:14later. Enjoy. See you, Chris. See you, Chris.
- 2:05:18See you. Now everybody on our job study has finally
- 2:05:22heard Chris. I get to talk to him. He's a lovely
- 2:05:24man. All right. So. And so I want you to remember
- 2:05:30that there's a time in the scriptures whenever
- 2:05:31God says, my men are flesh and I will not deal
- 2:05:34with it much longer. So 120 years is where I
- 2:05:36put the capstone. Job is in the patriarchal period.
- 2:05:39So we know this because right now it says that
- 2:05:42Job lived 140 years after all of that happened.
- 2:05:46So we don't know how old he really is. It doesn't
- 2:05:48really say, but what's more important is that
- 2:05:50he gets to see four generations beyond that.
- 2:05:52So he's incredibly blessed man. Yeah, and if
- 2:05:55you think a generation is 40 years, the man's
- 2:05:57160, isn't he? Yeah, plus the 140, that would
- 2:06:00make him 300 years, but he's already older than
- 2:06:03that. I think he's probably 490 years old. Well,
- 2:06:08to be honest... And I'll tell you why. If we
- 2:06:10go from Daniel... Because that's the 70 weeks.
- 2:06:14It's all there. It's all in here. I'm telling
- 2:06:18you. That would take a little bit of sort of,
- 2:06:20you know, I'm not, yeah. I'm not even going into
- 2:06:22the numbers. Okay. But listen, to all of you
- 2:06:25guys that have been with us from the start, if
- 2:06:28you're willing to comment, I want, I want to
- 2:06:30ask you a direct question. Did you think that
- 2:06:34this is what this book was about? Did you go
- 2:06:37through the study and suddenly think, uh -oh,
- 2:06:40I didn't know what this book was about. I did.
- 2:06:43I thought I knew what it was about. And I was
- 2:06:45going through hell on earth. And I was like,
- 2:06:47Elaine, I'm going to go through the book of Job.
- 2:06:49I got to see what all this is about. Oh, my goodness.
- 2:06:52Am I glad I did. And I hope that if anybody in
- 2:06:55your life is going through hardship that you
- 2:06:57know, point them to this study. Take them and
- 2:07:00say, go through it with them, guys. It's only
- 2:07:0320 -something episodes, but go through it with
- 2:07:05them and listen to it because there's something
- 2:07:07more that you need to see. This is the story
- 2:07:09of Israel. It's about the high priest and how
- 2:07:11Christ is a high priest It's about all of what
- 2:07:14God had in store for his people and he told it
- 2:07:17long before it ever happened He did and guess
- 2:07:20what? He knew it before he even laid the first
- 2:07:23cornerstone He did and and that's the whole thing
- 2:07:26isn't it in the beginning Aleph Tav Yes, yes,
- 2:07:30and that's it It's the power of the cross the
- 2:07:32Aleph is the power the strength the Tav is the
- 2:07:35mark the sign the cross, so he is the power of
- 2:07:39the cross that created the heavens and the earth.
- 2:07:41It's the word all the time, all the time. It's
- 2:07:46incredibly amazing. It's a love story. It's the
- 2:07:49most gorgeous, beautiful, tender love story in
- 2:07:54the whole of eternity. It is. It's beautiful,
- 2:07:58beautiful. You know, the template of the creation
- 2:08:01laying over the top of it, this wonderful sort
- 2:08:04of journey that we're on spiritually. and where
- 2:08:06we're going to end up. It's crazy. And I mean
- 2:08:10that in the most, it's amazing. It's awe -inspiring.
- 2:08:13It's beyond your wildest dreams. It's just too
- 2:08:17beautiful to even, I can't even think of words
- 2:08:20that would describe it. Can't. It just is touching
- 2:08:24you sort of in the, do you want to go out, Billy?
- 2:08:28Come on. My dog, Billy. Yeah. You need to put
- 2:08:33your dog out? No, he just wants a tickle. Okay,
- 2:08:37well you've been on I'm having a tickle. I just
- 2:08:39my hand. I think tickles tickles. I'm having
- 2:08:41a tickle right I Have dogs I used to have dogs.
- 2:08:47I haven't had a dog in quite some time and I
- 2:08:48miss it Sometimes I wish I had a dog. I love
- 2:08:51dogs. Oh, it's three So does job fear God for
- 2:08:54nothing? That's the question The final thing
- 2:09:02that Joe said is now my eyes, my eyes see you.
- 2:09:05You got it. And that's the thing, you know, does
- 2:09:08fear you for nothing? Well, he didn't even really
- 2:09:10know what fear was until he had it all taken
- 2:09:12away. And that was that. And that's the point
- 2:09:15that Satan once again thought he was doing a
- 2:09:17disservice, like when he put Christ on the cross,
- 2:09:19thought he was doing a disservice. But actually,
- 2:09:22he brought about the prophecies that were going
- 2:09:26to set the ball rolling, which includes us where
- 2:09:30we are now. Mm hmm. You know, saying back there,
- 2:09:33set the ball rolling. I mean, you know, he's
- 2:09:35again, you know, I'm not dissing anyone because
- 2:09:37even Moses didn't even the angels when they had
- 2:09:40to speak of Moses body didn't charge anything
- 2:09:42like that. But you got to think to yourself,
- 2:09:44you know, haven't you woken up yet? I mean, he's
- 2:09:48gone. I mean, I think he's gone anyway. Now he's
- 2:09:50at lake of fire back there in, you know, 2000
- 2:09:53years ago. But yeah, you just think where he
- 2:09:56just, you know, it's just that you This is how
- 2:09:59arrogant and how haughty and proud he was that
- 2:10:04he thought that he could actually outdo God.
- 2:10:06Personally, this is my own personal thought process.
- 2:10:09I think that he was the first angel that God
- 2:10:12ever created. That's who I think this Satan is,
- 2:10:17the one there that went before the one who sort
- 2:10:19of challenged those in the Garden of Eden. I
- 2:10:22think he was the first one. I think that everything
- 2:10:24after that he saw how he brought it about and
- 2:10:29I think that that's why he thought he could challenge
- 2:10:31him because he thought well I know an awful lot
- 2:10:34you've taught me an awful lot but at the end
- 2:10:38of the day yeah because I think he was the first
- 2:10:40born angel created angel the first created I
- 2:10:44think God made him to be that way I think God
- 2:10:47designed him to be exactly what he was yeah this
- 2:10:49is what God wanted this yeah while she's putting
- 2:10:54bill out i'll say it out loud again and i'll
- 2:10:56say it when she comes back like i believe that
- 2:10:59the satan that was created was created because
- 2:11:03god wanted it this way god made the satan the
- 2:11:06way that he determined to do so that satan will
- 2:11:09always function in the way in which god designed
- 2:11:11him to do so yeah And this is it. And I think
- 2:11:13this is where you got the duality of the physical
- 2:11:16and the spiritual. You know, you got the first
- 2:11:17Adam physical and the last Adam, who's Christ
- 2:11:20physical, he came to the earth as a god in flesh.
- 2:11:23But you also had the first born angel or the
- 2:11:26first created angel. And then you had the first
- 2:11:28son that came from heaven. So I think then you
- 2:11:30got the spiritual, the spiritual, the one that
- 2:11:33thought he could do everything, but the one Christ
- 2:11:36that actually obeyed, submitted to the father.
- 2:11:39and did everything, didn't challenge him, just
- 2:11:41pleased him all the time. This is my son who
- 2:11:43pleases me. And then you got Adam, he brought
- 2:11:45about chaos. And then you got Christ who brought
- 2:11:48about peace and tranquility and all that is good
- 2:11:51through the spirit. There's the duality in the
- 2:11:56heavens. And there's the one, you know, because
- 2:11:57again, you know, the firstborn overall creation.
- 2:12:01And again, you're talking about Christ over the
- 2:12:02creation of all that is back there physically.
- 2:12:08but also spiritually he was. But again, but he
- 2:12:10was always there as God. So yeah, we have to
- 2:12:13look at the physical aspects of him. But yeah,
- 2:12:15that's what I think that's what I think it goes
- 2:12:17back to. But yeah, Satan thought that he could
- 2:12:19challenge God. And instead of recognizing that
- 2:12:22he was in that wonderful position, that was a
- 2:12:26great honor to be that first one. I think that
- 2:12:28he thought that's why he could challenge. That's
- 2:12:30why I get that's what I think. That's my own
- 2:12:33personal thought process on the thing. You know,
- 2:12:35but then you had the only begotten, unique one,
- 2:12:38one of a kind, Christ, you know, that came down,
- 2:12:41that was the son that was obedient and, you know,
- 2:12:45bowed to his father. Yeah. And I think you should
- 2:12:50recognize this, you know, when Jesus talks about
- 2:12:52the binding of the strong man, he must first
- 2:12:54go in and bind him before he plunders his house.
- 2:12:56I mean, that's talking about that, that satan
- 2:12:59character. It's talking about the envy of God.
- 2:13:01The binding is everyone that is in opposition.
- 2:13:04You know, the adversary is the one that's, you
- 2:13:07know, and that could be anybody. It could be
- 2:13:09Satan, the demonic forces. But it shows it again,
- 2:13:12like at the end of the scriptures, when you get
- 2:13:14to the millennial reign, where is he at? He's
- 2:13:17in the abyss. He's bound him in the abyss, right?
- 2:13:19But what happens? He lets him out. He lets him
- 2:13:22out for a little season. God's always in control.
- 2:13:27The thing is, again, you've got to say to yourself,
- 2:13:29will he let him out in the last three and a half
- 2:13:30years? Then if he was bound, well, he was on
- 2:13:32the earth still doing an awful lot. But the only
- 2:13:34thing is that he was bound in was that he could
- 2:13:36not now thwart the plans of God. You have to
- 2:13:39bind someone. And I think that the binding of
- 2:13:41him was the fact that the gospel went out to
- 2:13:43all the world. a million percent but my point
- 2:13:45is is that he bound him and then he let him loose
- 2:13:48like god is always in control and that is like
- 2:13:52a dog that he lets off a chain it is designed
- 2:13:55to do something and god used it in order to have
- 2:13:59what what he wanted and that was us we were part
- 2:14:03of what he wanted yeah who are you darkening
- 2:14:05my plans you know i i know everything you know
- 2:14:08my plans you consider to be dark are actually
- 2:14:11totally out of light That's right. I designed
- 2:14:15them. I was the one that I was the architect.
- 2:14:18I was the one that orchestrated it. You know,
- 2:14:20and this is the whole thing. You know, we have
- 2:14:22to understand that no matter what happens in
- 2:14:24our lives, that this is fleeting. We have an
- 2:14:27eternity that Christ died to give us. And as
- 2:14:30we're passing through, we've died to self, we're
- 2:14:32passing through, we've been made. And all we
- 2:14:34just need to do is to dispense the gospel, is
- 2:14:37to speak to everybody, any opportunity that we
- 2:14:39can. Because, you know, I want to hear, well
- 2:14:43done. Yeah, so do I. And that's it. But again,
- 2:14:50the whole thing is, you know, again, you could
- 2:14:52spend another couple of sessions discussing the
- 2:14:54whole thing in its entirety, trying to bring
- 2:14:56it together. Well, I mean, I think that's what
- 2:14:58the Q &A can be about. I think that that's where
- 2:15:01we follow up. But anybody that wants to join
- 2:15:03us. I'm gonna work on, I'll put out an announcement
- 2:15:05and give you guys a link to come to it, whether
- 2:15:07it's gonna be on a Zoom call if you wanna join
- 2:15:09us or if it's a live on YouTube or whatever.
- 2:15:11I've never done it, so I'm gonna have to learn
- 2:15:13it. But I'll put it out on Patreon for you guys
- 2:15:15to see. And then if you guys wanna join us, you
- 2:15:18can and we can talk about it. We'll have a little
- 2:15:20bit of a follow -up. We're gonna try it for this
- 2:15:22Thursday at 6 p .m. So if you guys are, if it's
- 2:15:24after work and you can join us, please do and
- 2:15:27please get involved in the communication. And
- 2:15:29we hope you enjoyed it and I'll announce along
- 2:15:32with Elaine today that our next book of study
- 2:15:34is going to be the Song of Songs, the Song of
- 2:15:37Solomon. And I've, I had Cherry Lewis actually.
- 2:15:44Yeah, Cherry Lewis came down. She's down from
- 2:15:48Maine visiting family. And she came to my house
- 2:15:50last night and we were visiting with her and
- 2:15:53her husband Rodney. She said that she was so
- 2:15:58disappointed whenever we extended it a week before
- 2:16:00we were going to release it because she's all
- 2:16:02caught up and she wanted to watch it. And so
- 2:16:04I told her I told her last night what we were
- 2:16:06going to do. She got the early edition because
- 2:16:08she came to the house. But she said that this
- 2:16:12study meant so much to her during this whole
- 2:16:14time that she's been up there in Maine doing
- 2:16:15her thing. Right. And so I just I believe that
- 2:16:19the Lord put this study together for a purpose
- 2:16:21that he had in mind. I benefited from it, I hope
- 2:16:25all of you have. We both have, haven't we? I
- 2:16:27mean, just discuss. It literally is, you forget
- 2:16:30people are listening. Yeah, that happens all
- 2:16:32the time, yeah. It's like parents are listening
- 2:16:33and a good talk about the scriptures. Yeah, sometimes
- 2:16:36whenever Elaine and I get on the phone, like
- 2:16:38we talk outside of these recordings and we'll
- 2:16:40talk for an hour. Yeah, we do, yeah. It goes
- 2:16:42by so quick. It could go on, but there's only,
- 2:16:45there's other things that need to be done. And
- 2:16:47that's why. And I'm so glad that you said that.
- 2:16:50Cause I have to go because it is eight 19 here.
- 2:16:52I'm already late. I've got to get to work. Um,
- 2:16:55but guys, thanks for watching and being with
- 2:16:58us all this time. I hope that this study has,
- 2:17:00has brought up even more questions for you or
- 2:17:02made you dig in deeper. Yeah. And that's what
- 2:17:05it's, that's what it's designed to do, isn't
- 2:17:06it? To make you think more and go and do your
- 2:17:08own thing and have a little look and, and let
- 2:17:10you say on six o 'clock. on Thursday hopefully
- 2:17:13people will join and bring out their thoughts
- 2:17:17maybe that they've seen or you know what do you
- 2:17:18think about that have you got any thoughts about
- 2:17:20this because that's what it's about really it's
- 2:17:22again it's a collective you know it's we're not
- 2:17:25a corporate we're not corporate we're collective
- 2:17:28we are the church of god we are children and
- 2:17:33that's what we do we discuss spiritual things
- 2:17:36and get a huge amount of enjoyment from them
- 2:17:38that's it thank you guys so much for being with
- 2:17:41us all this time and yeah thank you tony there's
- 2:17:45two hours yeah tony there's two hours and 20
