Transcript
- 0:00It doesn't even feel like it's Soliday season. No, yeah, no Dickory
- 0:04dock to be found, but no, weird. Nevertheless, gifts will be
- 0:08exchanged in less than a week. And if you're still scrambling like me,
- 0:12I haven't even put a single thought into getting gifts or what you know,
- 0:16and it's, by the way, probably too late to order them. So
- 0:18yeah, I feel like this is why you gotta you gotta continue to shop
- 0:22local, Pike, got to go into the actual store and buy your stuff.
- 0:27Is that right, Amanda, it's sure. I don't know if you'll
- 0:29be able to hear me up there on your high horse. You're telling me
- 0:32that not a single Amazon package will be delivered to your home this year?
- 0:35Oh gosh, no, okay, that's what we're going with. Maybe one
- 0:39or two. Yeah, but no, I did all my Christmas shopping early
- 0:45because you were not here last year. But I I forgot about the big
- 0:50gift that the kids are asking for. That's okay, you're the middle man.
- 0:54They can ask you for the Santa gift and you relate to Santa.
- 0:57Well yeah, so they just can't talk to sands or whatever. And yeah,
- 1:00who forgot about all of that? Okay. Last year, so it
- 1:02was like a Christmas Eve, major panic situation. I mean, everything is
- 1:07closing. I'm scrambling trying to do this. It was a It was a
- 1:11real debacle. So I planned accordingly this year. Yeah, I'm sure you'll
- 1:14get the parenting thing figure out. Someday, I'll figure it out. Maybe
- 1:19here this will help you. If you're listening and you got to buy for
- 1:22a lady. There's things you should never ever buy a woman. This according
- 1:25to a gift expert. She's famous online now is the gift girl on TikTok.
- 1:30You can be a gift expert. It'd be anything you want to be.
- 1:33Well, you tell me if she's wrong. Here, because there are
- 1:34three gifts to never ever get a woman. First number one on the list
- 1:38any household cleaning supplies. That is such It drives me nuts when people say
- 1:42this, because I would give anything for a kitchen aid mixer, like a
- 1:47really nice dice in vacuum if that's something I wanted. Yeah, I see
- 1:49a good vacuum. I don't even know if that counts because that would just
- 1:53be so it's such a game changer to have a really good vacuum. You
- 1:57can spend a lot of money on a vacuum. My husband and I were
- 2:00just talking about this. I would love to have appliances like a new cream
- 2:02beige appliances would be amazing you and your babe, I know right Well,
- 2:08anyway, don't do that if you want to follow the gift girls. Yeah.
- 2:13The next one absolute no. No is any gift meant to help someone
- 2:16on their weight loss journey. No, I would have I bought a Peloton
- 2:21or we bought one two years ago, three years ago, and that was
- 2:24our Christmas gift because I was so excited about it. And this year man
- 2:28has been begging for an ozembic prescription. So if anybody else't hasn't got her
- 2:37a gift to the big Oh, wrap that up in a boat. Many
- 2:39doctors are listening. You can go and write that note. Can I get
- 2:43a twelve month subscription to ozempic. I want to know more information about it,
- 2:49that's all. She's curious. She's curious, shoot me wherever I go.
- 2:55I just want to find out more information. And the and the final
- 3:02gift you should never ever give a woman because it's offensive. Any kind of
- 3:06anti aging skincare again, hit me with your Cardiff boatox. If my husband
- 3:15gave me botox or that's probably the only thing I'd go with, or any
- 3:20sort of like facial things because I massage. Now, I know, I'm
- 3:23only a man, and you're allowed to get a man anything because you know
- 3:28who cares. But twice in my life now I have gotten it as a
- 3:30gift I cream once from an ex girlfriend and once from my own mother for
- 3:38a gift. So once okay, sure, but twice not. I'm a
- 3:46trend. I don't even know if I have I cream. I'm sure I
- 3:49do, and I've never used it just out of protest because I was offended.
- 3:53Just was there a reason behind it? Did you mention? Have you
- 3:59looked at me last five years? Did you take I got a couple of
- 4:01pillowcases hanging from my eyelids. It's hurtful. Did you message this gift expert
- 4:08and tell her that she chanced to revise this to guys do one for men
- 4:11now too, because we believe it or not our people as well. Well.
- 4:14I think I'm gonna have to message her and say this list is trash.
- 4:16I want all of it, like a minute in the morning, Big
- 4:19ninety eight point seven. Well, man, I know you are nervous to
- 4:23discuss what your last meal would be if you were on death row. And
- 4:26I don't think he ever would be. No, definitely not. But if
- 4:29you were, what would the last meal be? Because you know, historically,
- 4:31I've always found it to be the weirdest thing that these people who've done
- 4:34horrible, horrible things, the last thing is they get to request whatever food
- 4:38they want. Right, Yeah, you'd be like, no, you should
- 4:41who cares? Yeah? Right, what does it matter? Why would you?
- 4:44Yeah? No, I get that. So even going back to I
- 4:45found some of the more insane things that have been requested. Like you remember
- 4:48John Wayne Gacy, Yes, famous serial killer. He was also known as
- 4:53the Pogo the killer clown, accused of killing thirty three boys and young men
- 4:57in the seventies. Anyway, his last meal, which was granted twelve fried
- 5:01shrimp, a bucket of KFC chicken fries, and a pound of fresh strawberries.
- 5:06Oh nice dessert. Nice healthy dessert to go out on. That's a
- 5:11lot of strawberries. If you ever like house like the entire container. Oh,
- 5:15it fills you up. Raspberries I can do easily, but yeah,
- 5:16strawberries. Probably my wife will milk a thing of you know, just the
- 5:20normal little container of raspberries for the whole week. I'm like, I can
- 5:25only do that in literally probably thirty seconds. That's how it doesn't take long.
- 5:30Yeah, Ted Bundy, you know him, one of the more famed
- 5:32serial killers. Anyway, he requested eggs, hash browns, toast, and
- 5:38juice, and then also on top of that, a steak, pretty normal
- 5:41stuff. Go big breakfast guy, a little steak and eggs. Okay,
- 5:43no, old Bundy. You know he's really been glamorized over the years,
- 5:46what with the Zach Effron film and right, yeah, yes, like some
- 5:49people even like having crushes on him. Come on, now, that's one
- 5:51thing I'll never understand to all of these like and I say, ladies Coast
- 5:56typically that's what it is that are sending all of this like love mail to
- 6:01Yeah, here's a guy who killed. What are you doing? I don't
- 6:04know if you remember this. He's not as famous as Victor of fig were
- 6:09famous serial killer from back in the day. Anyway, his final meal,
- 6:12he requested a single all of just one all of now, he said,
- 6:15because he thought that when he was buried, the olive in his stomach would
- 6:19sprout a tree and it would be a symbol of peace. Oh boy,
- 6:25yeah, yeah, good, weird all this stuff. And then finally Timothy
- 6:28McVeagh remember this, oh Oklahoma City bos anyway, he asked for ice cream.
- 6:32That's right, he was the ice cream guy, which brings me to
- 6:34my last meal, Amanda. If I were to do something horrible, I
- 6:38would have to it would probably be a Chinese buffet, right, just like
- 6:42that's what I was kind of thinking you were going to go with. I
- 6:44don't know who owned King House, but whoever that is, they would have
- 6:46to like revive it because I can get whatever I want. I'm the serial
- 6:49killer, yep, I'm in charge, and so they would have to revive
- 6:53King House, bufet. I would go, probably take two trips up there,
- 6:56and then finish it up with I want an entire bucket, a whole
- 6:59gallon bucket of Camps ice cream, vanilla, just playing vanilla really with a
- 7:03log of cookie though, in which I would kind of okay, correct,
- 7:09stir it out, make my own cookieo ice cream with a little hot fudge,
- 7:12a little hot fudge. Wow, Okay, I was thinking for me,
- 7:16I would want two tacos from Taco bell. Okay, just too hard
- 7:21or soft? I like hard, you do, yep, and then I
- 7:25am going to want hard as well. Just a single Arby's roast beef sandwich
- 7:30with Horsey sauce and Arby sauce. Okay, are you gonna put it on
- 7:33the sandwich or do you put it on the side. I just put it
- 7:35up on the sandwich, and then I put two more packets mix it together
- 7:39on the side and dip it. Oh my gosh, I'm so hungry right
- 7:41now. That's exactly what I like to hear. I am gonna want also
- 7:45a little bit of Chinese food, but I'm trying to decide like I like
- 7:47it, like the fried rice, but I like it cold, like only
- 7:51nuked for a little bit, a little older, like day old, like
- 7:55sesame chicken or beef. What is a little Chinese food that's foreign? That's
- 7:59foreign to me? Right? I get Amanda in the morning, sage ninety
- 8:03seven. Well, New Year's is nearly upon, as Amanda. Have you
- 8:05started thinking about your New Year's RESI the old resolution is what I mean.
- 8:09We were talking a little bit about it yesterday when we were at Plaza Azteca.
- 8:13I would like to do dry January. I think that that's obviously doable.
- 8:16And then something especially after the holidays, that's now that's not a New
- 8:20Year's resolution because that's only for a month. That's a January resolution. That's
- 8:24usually how most of them panned out. Right, you're really going to do
- 8:26dry January? Try? That would be impressive. I know you tried to
- 8:30loop me into it. I just looked at my calendar. I'm like,
- 8:31well, can't not drink here, can't not drink here any Yeah, no,
- 8:35it's it could be a challenge, but gonna give it her a shot.
- 8:37But it's going for you. New Year's resolutions go, I don't remember
- 8:43the last time I had one. Well, you're not alone because a new
- 8:46study was done and apparently millennials in particular, I think they're pretty much over
- 8:50New Year's resolutions. Not many people doing them anymore, and in fact,
- 8:54the ones who do, they say the numbers about five percent of people who
- 8:56actually for the entire year stick to it. Yeah, I know, I
- 9:00remember. It's more of like reflecting as the year goes on. I always
- 9:03think, gosh, you know, this is what I want to do better
- 9:05this year, or yeah, it's just a fresh start. Yeah, absolutely,
- 9:09new beginnings. It's not so much like, oh, I'm gonna brush
- 9:11my teeth three times a day every day of this year, which great a
- 9:16sticker chart for yourself. Yeah, you can do that too. But the
- 9:18most popular New Year's resolutions are like quitting smoking if you do smoke, exercising
- 9:24more, eating healthier, spending more time with family, drinking lass. And
- 9:28it's all about the timing of it too. After the holidays from Thanksgiving on,
- 9:31we're just celebrating, we're around family, you're doing all of those things
- 9:35where yeah, when January hits, it's like, oooh, it's just time,
- 9:39I'm gonna do it. Yeah, it's it's not so much it's a
- 9:41new Year's resolution for me anyway. It's always been like, all right,
- 9:43that's like a good time to start getting it together. As far as working
- 9:46out, eating right, because you're right, if you start working out in
- 9:50January, normally by June or summer, you know when you start shirts off
- 9:54season, yeah, you can, like that's enough time. Feeling good about
- 9:58yourself yeah yeah, and you know, or is last about what you look
- 10:01like? The older you get, it's just how do you feel? Can
- 10:03you put clothes on and feel decent about yourself. You know, I love
- 10:05that because that is so true. You get to a point where I'm like,
- 10:07the size and the scale, none of that matters. We're not going
- 10:13down the otter Tail River at twenty one years old anymore. We're not trying
- 10:16to impress anybody. You're not, you know what I mean, trying to
- 10:18impress yourself. Well, that and we're both married. It's like, as
- 10:20long as everything is still good there, I'm great. And then I also
- 10:24remember, like I had two kids, like I'm never going to look like
- 10:26I did whenever it was whatever it was that one time, long long time
- 10:31ago, Amanda in the Morning on sign and no Amanda Stills the Sea looks
- 10:39see brought to you by JDP Electorate. So have you been fallen along with
- 10:45Jonathan Majors Now I've heard that name. Yeah, So he was really starting
- 10:48to become famous. He was in Creed three, but then he also was
- 10:52a part of the Marvel series uh Ant Man and the Wasp Quantum Mania,
- 10:56so he was Cang the Conqueror. So this was like a big deal.
- 11:00They were starting to go through all the Marvel stuff. Well, he ended
- 11:03up going to court because a woman who he was dating for a little while,
- 11:07said there was some domestic violence incidents that were going on. Yesterday he
- 11:11was found guilty on all of that and marvel right away they said, nope,
- 11:15he's out. We're yeah, that's a you know, that's surprising to
- 11:18hear they waited till there was an actual conviction. You know a lot of
- 11:20times it's just the second there's an accusation on hold or something. Yes,
- 11:24so well crazy and Britney Spears that it was probably a year ago. I
- 11:33want to say that we found out that Britney spears gym had started on fire.
- 11:35I think she had left a candle or something out. I'm not one
- 11:39hundred percent sure. Candles number one cause of house fires. Be careful,
- 11:43folks. Yesterday she posted the picture of it, like a house back of
- 11:48it of the gym. I mean, it's completely destroyed. I mean it
- 11:52was insane. How big of a fire this. It's crazy what a fire
- 11:56will do? I know, But I guess I was just kind of assuming
- 11:58that it was like, oh, okay, the was a little fire that
- 12:00started. I didn't think it was going to be this big deal. You
- 12:03ever had a fire, no in the house or anything. Like, you
- 12:05know, cooking something and something starts on fire. You never had to have
- 12:07like the extinguisher out or anything like that. But she's also got some really
- 12:11bizarre things going on. She's doing some throwback video. She's got one where
- 12:15she's just flipping off the camera. I don't know what's going on here.
- 12:18It's just not feeling good again. What's been going on? I know it
- 12:22seems perfectly sustainable because this has been this every morning we walk in here,
- 12:26a Manda's like, did you see what Britney posted? I'm like, I
- 12:28don't need to see it. I know it's weird and bizarre, but it's
- 12:33just this is how it is. This is her life. I know.
- 12:35I just felt that it was becoming a little bit better and that she was
- 12:39like making more sense, and that's really a mistake. I mean, yeah,
- 12:43Tom Brady, so I guess it was his mom who's the culprit for
- 12:48this, But I thought it was him when I first heard this story.
- 12:50Aren't his parents from Minnesota or they lived here for some time where his grandparent
- 12:54did or something maybe Anyway, besides the point, so he was laughing off
- 12:56that there was a photo swap. So this girl accidentally her parents went and
- 13:01got their photos from CBS, which is just great, Yes, well that's
- 13:05happening still, right, And it ended up being a photo of Tom Brady
- 13:09and his kids at a football stadium, and she's like, okay, this
- 13:13is really weird. Anyway, she posted it on TikTok saying this is what
- 13:18my mom ordered and this is what she received. Tom Brady got wind of
- 13:22it and said, yeah, my mom must have been putting some photos in
- 13:24San Francisco. Again, I mean, just funny, adorable, and then
- 13:28she fired back, now, when you're in town, we'll have to photo
- 13:31swap. Who's in town when tom Brady goes to San Francisco like this other
- 13:37oh theirs, maybe get your photos back. I don't know, because she's
- 13:43assuming that like mom maybe got the other photo. I don't know. Tom
- 13:46Brady's coming to town to steal one of your family photos. What a world
- 13:50trending. Now here's what you need to know. Well, this was really
- 13:56scary Sunday night. There was about thirty five anglers that were up on Upper
- 14:00Red Lake and they angling, they were angling and the ice ended up breaking
- 14:07away. They were only on ten inches of ice and there were forty mile
- 14:11parmer winds and they ended up getting stranded. It wasn't until eight o'clock last
- 14:15night that thankfully there was an air boat that was able to get out there
- 14:18and rescuers rescue everybody. No injuries, nobody fill into the water. That's
- 14:24just a horrifying situation for them. And how long they had to be out
- 14:26there. I wouldn't have made it a couple hours, like I would have
- 14:28hit panic mode, especially overnight dark wattup, Oh gos, Yeah you're not
- 14:33sleepy, you can't do anything. Yeah, you gonna lay down on ten
- 14:35inch thick ice and take a map. No thanks. It was soliday season,
- 14:41holiday season, and it all started with a joke. But how cool
- 14:45is this. There is a guy named Drew who does a self checkout at
- 14:50Walmart, and he invited other customers supers the attendant he is, yes,
- 14:54and he wanted to invite other customers who beg items themselves, to have a
- 14:58little part kind of just joking like an employee Christmas party, because joking that
- 15:03we're that now employees bag in our own groceries. Right, So he invited
- 15:07all of these people, thousands of people. I mean, it went viral
- 15:11here in our area, which was crazy people interested in going. It was
- 15:15hilarious. I kept seeing it on my Facebook and every time I went,
- 15:16that's funny, it is right. Well, it morphed into something so much
- 15:20bigger than that. There were people who actually showed up. But he turned
- 15:24it into a holiday toy drive to give back to kid. He saw he
- 15:28had an opportunity and he took it. What a good man. I love
- 15:31baging my own groceries forget. Some people complain, come on now once't you
- 15:35rather do that? It really depends on how many items I have. I
- 15:39get anxious because sometimes if it stopped for some reason, there's certain places where
- 15:43you can't ring it in right, or if you get something around, I
- 15:46feel like that's getting better the whole fit you have produce. It's like,
- 15:50oh man, I have to weigh this, do this. I get anxious.
- 15:52I'd rather just have somebody else have a nice little chit chat with jam
- 15:56or whomever. It sounds like you need to have some composure. I also
- 16:00typically just do drive up because it's easier for me. Okay, yeah,
- 16:07I don't like to bring the rascals into the grocery store. We got two
- 16:10kids quite the hassle you leave them in the car. I remember, at
- 16:15a very young age my mom be like, yeah, you want to stay
- 16:18in the car, not yeah, I'll stay here. Thanks. And I
- 16:21didn't even have a phone. That was just me staring at stuff. You
- 16:23just be sitting there. But you'd always say, don't go with any strangers.
- 16:27So we're fine as long as you say that. Oh the good old
- 16:34days, right for anybody, no matter what they have. Oh gosh,
- 16:41all right, Google release. The most searched Christmas cookie is by state Minnesota
- 16:47and North Dakota searching the same cookie, the classic peanut butter blossom. What's
- 16:52the ingredients that go into that? Because this is the one. It's like
- 16:53the little peanut butter one with theshey kiss. I prefer the hershey kiss.
- 16:59Sometimes people make like a homemade blossom where it actually looks like a little flat
- 17:03I think that's cute. Yeah, just give me the hershey kiss. There's
- 17:04such a it's such a consistent, solid cookie. It just is it is.
- 17:08And why is it that we only usually make them around the holidays?
- 17:11Isn't that kind of weird? Like cookie? Right? It's just a sweet
- 17:15tree. But it's like, give me that over a chocolate chip. But
- 17:18it's kind of like the McRib It's like, yeah, you could have it
- 17:21year round, but it doesn't, you know, it loses the allure.
- 17:25I'm just only having it during this time. That or like the Oreole balls.
- 17:27Do you ever have those? Oh balls of Oreo? So good?
- 17:30Yeah, that's good. I like I like a good sugar cookie, and
- 17:33I also like cream kakka. Which one is that? Is that the even?
- 17:37No? I just like saying it. Okay, I feel like that's
- 17:38the one that I get it. This is gonna sound terrible because I should
- 17:41know this. I know what lefsa is, but is this the one that
- 17:45looks like a kind of an ornament? People make them and it's like that
- 17:48thin kind of a Peter Peter brittle peanut butter brittle. No, I'm very
- 17:56familiar with pean't know. I just tell my grandma when she was alive,
- 17:59would come over during the holidays and just have a tray of things you've never
- 18:02seen before. That's the best. My husband, as a coworker, who
- 18:04brings all that over every year, was like, gosh, go to town,
- 18:10all right, weatherwise today it is going to be sunny. I have
- 18:12about thirty four, and we're moving all the way up to mid forties by
- 18:15Christmas. Just crazy bike, get a Manda in the morning, come on,
- 18:18get up on Big eighty twenty seven. A little bit of an emotional
- 18:22roller course, of course. You know this time of year, like you
- 18:26had mentioned, Pike, it's it's tough. You've been going through it.
- 18:27I mean, it's just it's not as joyous as everybody sometimes thinks. You
- 18:32know, that's just the case. Here with Jenna and her family, and
- 18:36she's on the phone right now. Good morning, this is Jenna. Well,
- 18:38Jenna, we got an email here from your friend Angie and she let
- 18:44us know that this has been probably the toughest year of your life. Yeah,
- 18:48Jenna, would you be willing to tell us just kind of what's been
- 18:52going on in your life? Sure. October twenty fourth, my husband fell
- 18:56in our house and hit his head, ended up passing away. Oh thank
- 19:03you. He's only forty, and yeah, it was it's been very difficult,
- 19:08and so he was he was he was a donor, so he was
- 19:11on life support for three days in the hospital and we were able to spend
- 19:15some time with him at the hospital before he before he actually was able to
- 19:19donate. So yeah, that was that was almost two months ago. That
- 19:23is just so unimaginably unexpected, and I'm sure just traumatizing for you and you
- 19:29and you guys have kids, right, we have a nineteen year old and
- 19:32my son will we nine actually on Saturday, Oh my gosh, a Christmas
- 19:36birthday and yes, Christmas. I am sure you're going through all the emotions
- 19:41right now. Yes, yes, yes, it's been it's yeah, it's
- 19:44been very emotional. Well, we've just been thinking about you since we got
- 19:48that email. We just felt so bad and we want to be able to
- 19:51try to give you a little bit of anything positive during the holidays. As
- 19:55you know, it's obviously very very tough for your family. So with the
- 19:56Big Christmas Wish year round, we raise money and so in events like this
- 20:00we're able to help out families such as yourself. So Jenna on behalf of
- 20:04Big ninety eight point seven and our Big Christmas Wish, we would just like
- 20:07to give you and your family a gift of one thousand dollars. Oh my
- 20:11gosh, you guys, thank you so much. You are so welcome,
