- 1:24Shannon Jean: Yeah, gotta be something. That's a good song tune. Yeah.
- 1:27Dave Hamilton: National Stewart's Root Beer Day. I want to talk about that. No.
- 1:31Dave Hamilton: Yeah. What this means is for every one of us.
- 1:34Dave Hamilton: And I am including you and me in this group for every one of us that has not yet taken advantage
- 1:41Dave Hamilton: of the automatic marketing that comes from just creating your own businesses day on the calendar and.

- 1:52Shannon Jean: Do we do it
- 1:53Dave Hamilton: It's super easy yeah you just go to like national today.com you register a holiday

- 2:09Dave Hamilton: a no-brainer let me let me look at what that day is yeah.
- 2:13Shannon Jean: And you can
- 2:14Dave Hamilton: Say they're not they're not exclusive.
- 2:16Shannon Jean: Every day you could have all kinds of things yes correct that
- 2:19Dave Hamilton: Yeah no that's awesome june 17th has national eat your vegetables day bunker
- 2:25Dave Hamilton: hill day clean your kitchen vents day like and and i didn't even scratch the
- 2:30Dave Hamilton: surface of the list here i'm gonna put i'm.
- 2:33Shannon Jean: Gonna do i'm gonna do this and i'm gonna post about it and we're gonna share
- 2:36Shannon Jean: it we'll talk about it so that's a great idea yeah now what's it called national what's the site
- 2:40Dave Hamilton: Oh well there's a there's a bunch of it's a bunch of them yeah the one the The
- 2:43Dave Hamilton: one I usually look at is nationaltoday.com, but there's others. Yeah.
- 2:50Dave Hamilton: There's a couple of them, actually, that track all this stuff.
- 2:52Dave Hamilton: And kudos to them for doing this, too.
- 2:56Dave Hamilton: It's brilliant. I love it. I love it.
- 2:58Shannon Jean: It reminds me, one of my favorite things to recommend people that own local
- 3:03Shannon Jean: service businesses is to buy a fire truck.
- 3:07Shannon Jean: Of course, because you buy this fire trucks are pretty inexpensive.
- 3:12Shannon Jean: You can buy them for a few thousand dollars, like on a site called GovDeals
- 3:15Shannon Jean: where they sell all these old fire trucks and stuff.
- 3:18Dave Hamilton: Not like a fire truck that you're going to go fight fires with.
- 3:20Shannon Jean: You're not going to fight fires with it. You're going to wrap it in your company's,
- 3:25Shannon Jean: all the stuff, very patriotic, whatever. And you're going to drive it in every single parade.
- 3:30Shannon Jean: You're going to park it out in front of your businesses. You're going to drive
- 3:34Shannon Jean: it to get food when you pick up stuff, do things for your community.
- 3:37Shannon Jean: You're going to take it to the food.
- 3:39Shannon Jean: All those things you do in your community, you get noticed by having this awesome
- 3:44Shannon Jean: custom wrapped fire truck.
- 3:45Shannon Jean: Maybe not as good as a national day, but those kinds of things.
- 3:48Dave Hamilton: But they aren't mutually exclusive. You can do both.
- 3:50Shannon Jean: No, they're not. You can do both. I love it. Hey.
- 3:54Dave Hamilton: Oh, I was going to. You want to go? I'll go. It doesn't matter.
- 3:56Shannon Jean: You want to hate it?
- 3:57Dave Hamilton: I'll go. Yeah, I'll hate it. I just came back from Los Angeles, right?
- 4:03Dave Hamilton: Yep. Where my son and I, we did really a dream trip.
- 4:10Shannon Jean: Sounds like it.
- 4:10Dave Hamilton: Yeah. We went to see opening nights of Rush's, the band Rush's 50-something
- 4:16Dave Hamilton: tour, which is their first time playing in 11 years.
- 4:19Dave Hamilton: And my son had become a fan 11 years ago because of seeing them on the last tour.
- 4:25Dave Hamilton: And it was amazing. It was a thing we never thought would happen.
- 4:29Dave Hamilton: We did this father-son trip. That was amazing. The shows were amazing.
- 4:33Dave Hamilton: Like the whole thing was, I keep thinking once in a lifetime experience.
- 4:38Dave Hamilton: If that's true, I'm thankful, but it doesn't have to be once in a lifetime. You can do these things.
- 4:47Dave Hamilton: I want to point out two things.
- 4:51Dave Hamilton: One, the value of making businesses out of your interests.
- 4:59Dave Hamilton: I used to say out of your hobbies, but out of your interests, right?
- 5:01Shannon Jean: Your interests, yeah.
- 5:02Dave Hamilton: Yeah. So, you know, I have my, I mean, I do this show, which is about business,
- 5:07Dave Hamilton: obviously, but I have a podcast about tech stuff, Apple tech stuff,
- 5:12Dave Hamilton: because I'm interested in that.
- 5:14Dave Hamilton: I'm also interested in business. That's why we have this podcast, right? We both are. Yep.
- 5:18Dave Hamilton: And then I have a podcast called Gig Gab that's for music and musicians because I am a musician.
- 5:24Dave Hamilton: And what's nice about creating businesses that match your interests is twofold, more than twofold.
- 5:31Dave Hamilton: But I'll articulate two of the points. One is it keeps like on the days when
- 5:37Dave Hamilton: it kind of sucks to have to like do all the grinding work.
- 5:41Dave Hamilton: You're at least interested in the type of thing that you're doing.
- 5:46Shannon Jean: The overall arch of what yeah and yes yes yeah
- 5:50Dave Hamilton: Super important which is important it doesn't always work out that way but it
- 5:53Dave Hamilton: you know we get to control our charmed lives and so you know we can do that
- 5:56Dave Hamilton: but the other thing is that i joke that my entire life is tax deductible now
- 6:01Dave Hamilton: absolutely you know you see these posts that i did about,
- 6:04Dave Hamilton: this trip that lucas and i did and i you know before the,
- 6:09Dave Hamilton: before the tour I did and I had Russia's lighting director on gig gab and then,
- 6:16Dave Hamilton: just after that the episode we did after we got back I was just gonna do me and Lucas,
- 6:21Dave Hamilton: But one of Rush's old sound guys is also just a Rush fan.
- 6:25Dave Hamilton: And so the three of us got together and did a podcast. Now, I did two podcasts
- 6:29Dave Hamilton: and lots of pieces of content from there.
- 6:31Dave Hamilton: What portion of my dream once-in-a-lifetime trip with my son do you think was
- 6:37Dave Hamilton: tax deductible? A good chunk of it.
- 6:39Shannon Jean: I'm no accountant, Dave, but I would say a lot.
- 6:43Dave Hamilton: A lot. A lot, yes. I did not deduct the tickets for Six Flags that we did on
- 6:48Dave Hamilton: our show day. Okay, there you go. I mean, I might have like I might have been
- 6:51Dave Hamilton: able I always my my and I have this conversation with my accountant,
- 6:54Dave Hamilton: of course, as as I recommend everybody does.
- 6:57Dave Hamilton: But my metric for that is.
- 7:01Dave Hamilton: Can I, could I, if necessary, hopefully it's not necessary.
- 7:04Dave Hamilton: Could I sit down with an IRS agent with a straight face and explain,
- 7:09Dave Hamilton: justify it? Can I justify this?
- 7:11Dave Hamilton: Can you justify it? And I, I mean, like that trip was probably one of the easier ones to justify.
- 7:18Dave Hamilton: Like it, I don't think anybody would even ask any questions about this.
- 7:21Dave Hamilton: Right. So I, I highly recommend that. And that's one of the things I,
- 7:28Dave Hamilton: I mean, I've done this for years. I joke that my entire life is tax deductible
- 7:31Dave Hamilton: because I'm into music. I'm into computers. I have businesses in both.
- 7:33Dave Hamilton: And so, you know, come at me if you want.
- 7:36Dave Hamilton: Hey, and they have. Yeah, they have come at me and I've and I've gone and had
- 7:41Dave Hamilton: the straight face conversation.
- 7:43Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's totally fine. It's just not a big deal.
- 7:46Dave Hamilton: Yeah. The other thing that I learned from this trip is the value of using your
- 7:53Dave Hamilton: email autoresponder to personalize, to inject your personality into your business life.
- 7:59Dave Hamilton: And I've seen other people doing this. I certainly don't take credit for this idea. Okay.
- 8:05Dave Hamilton: But the idea of, you know, when I was away, I put an email autoresponder in
- 8:09Dave Hamilton: because I didn't want to have to, like, I wanted people to know it might take
- 8:14Dave Hamilton: an extra day for me to get back to them. Right.
- 8:16Shannon Jean: Sure. Yeah.
- 8:17Dave Hamilton: And so I just put it the thing like I'm doing this, you know,
- 8:20Dave Hamilton: father son trip to go to Los Angeles to see Rush.
- 8:23Dave Hamilton: And I got comments from people and it like it humanizes the whole thing.
- 8:27Shannon Jean: That's really great.
- 8:28Dave Hamilton: And I've seen other people do it, too. And if if if you don't know how to write
- 8:32Dave Hamilton: it, well, use your favorite chatbot to help you like.
- 8:35Dave Hamilton: But but really, you're just I mean, it's just a quick little note.
- 8:38Dave Hamilton: Like, you don't want to write a huge like treatise about why you're going away.
- 8:42Dave Hamilton: But just a little something can make a really it just automatically personalizes you.
- 8:52Dave Hamilton: Your business life with these people that are just coming in.
- 8:55Dave Hamilton: And I, I love it. I used to shy away from that man.
- 8:59Dave Hamilton: And like, I've realized that that was a mistake.
- 9:03Shannon Jean: Yeah. You know, it is, um, I think that you can't overstate the power of what you just described.
- 9:10Shannon Jean: It's that humanizing, uh, your, your business, whether it's using a photo of
- 9:16Shannon Jean: you on stuff instead of just a kind of an impersonal logo, whether it's
- 9:22Shannon Jean: the way your signature works, whether in your emails or those autoresponders.
- 9:29Shannon Jean: Somewhere back in an episode or maybe multiple episodes, I talked about our
- 9:33Shannon Jean: auto-attended voicemail system at TechRestore. Yes. That was me.
- 9:39Shannon Jean: I answered. And the first thing I said was, wow, I hate these auto-attended
- 9:45Shannon Jean: voicemail things just as much as you do.
- 9:48Shannon Jean: Let's let's figure it out we'll get through you quickly and then you know i
- 9:53Shannon Jean: i did all the prompts i just recorded them
- 9:55Dave Hamilton: Of course uh.
- 9:56Shannon Jean: And and kind of jokingly throughout the whole process and like we didn't have
- 10:00Shannon Jean: any music right because we had gotten hassled by music licensing for this i was like okay no music
- 10:06Shannon Jean: so i would when people got put on hold i would dip in every once in a while i'd be like hey hey
- 10:12Shannon Jean: it's your we're still here it's okay you know this little comments and quirky things
- 10:16Shannon Jean: and we got so many emails and you know comments when people are waiting for
- 10:22Shannon Jean: customer service by the time they hit our customer service department they were
- 10:26Shannon Jean: a little in a better mood sure you know
- 10:28Shannon Jean: and and it's the same kind of thing personalizing your business with your personality
- 10:32Shannon Jean: or adding personality to your business
- 10:34Dave Hamilton: That's it adding personality to your business and it's a topic i know we've
- 10:37Dave Hamilton: talked about quite a bit uh on this show because i i think you certainly are,
- 10:43Dave Hamilton: figured it out before i did uh in turn and just in the in the timeline of things
- 10:50Dave Hamilton: that you know with with tech restarts it was one of those things where i was
- 10:53Dave Hamilton: like oh wait we're doing this wrong it was certainly one of the first things
- 10:56Dave Hamilton: i learned from you was like oh yeah no no you gotta you gotta be humans to each other yeah.
- 11:01Shannon Jean: I took me a long time too because especially as a when i was just starting out
- 11:04Shannon Jean: new business i had this sense of oh i need to be a big company right and you
- 11:10Shannon Jean: know So it was Mac Rescue, yes, Mac Rescue Industries and all this kind of stuff.
- 11:16Shannon Jean: Because after, I don't know, maybe in five years, maybe in 10 years,
- 11:20Shannon Jean: I realized that a lot of that was just my ego that I wanted.
- 11:23Shannon Jean: And building armor around myself to protect myself.
- 11:26Dave Hamilton: Yeah, yeah. Ego might even be the wrong term.
- 11:30Dave Hamilton: But I know what you mean. It's that I want to present us as being larger than we actually are.
- 11:36Shannon Jean: Yeah, and more successful. And I realized after a while that it's like,
- 11:40Shannon Jean: huh, they don't, I don't need that.
- 11:41Shannon Jean: And I can just be myself and we'll talk. And, uh, that shift has helped me,
- 11:48Shannon Jean: um, remarkably, you know, in the next 10, 15 years of my career.
- 11:54Dave Hamilton: Oh, same for sure. No, it's, I mean, here we are doing the show.
- 11:57Dave Hamilton: Like this show is, is, is certainly a,
- 12:00Dave Hamilton: it's maybe not the logical end of, of that path, But it is a point far down
- 12:06Dave Hamilton: the path that's very different from, I'm going to, you know,
- 12:10Dave Hamilton: pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, you know.
- 12:12Shannon Jean: Yeah, and I would say that doing this show helped me to reach that point where
- 12:19Shannon Jean: I was more comfortable. First, just with audio.
- 12:22Shannon Jean: And then, you know, I don't know, five years ago, whenever we switched over
- 12:25Shannon Jean: to audio and video, it got me much more comfortable with being on screen and
- 12:31Shannon Jean: being on YouTube or whatever.
- 12:33Shannon Jean: And led to the next thing. So it's that,
- 12:36Shannon Jean: Yeah, it goes both ways. You learn from it, and then you share what you learn.
- 12:41Dave Hamilton: Then you share what you learn. It's cool. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Super good.
- 12:44Shannon Jean: Great advice.
- 12:46Dave Hamilton: We have more to talk about. And the next thing on that list of more is our sponsors.
- 12:52Dave Hamilton: And there's a scam hitting small businesses right now that I want to talk about
- 12:56Dave Hamilton: a little. The idea is that somebody emails one of your team members, right?
- 13:00Dave Hamilton: And they used your tone, right? It seems like the email comes from you.
- 13:04Dave Hamilton: It says there's an urgent wire transfer and also says, hey, look,
- 13:08Dave Hamilton: you know, keep this quiet until it's done.
- 13:11Dave Hamilton: That's AI email cloning, right? And it's being used to drain small business
- 13:16Dave Hamilton: bank accounts right now. And if this sounds like science fiction,
- 13:20Dave Hamilton: well, I promise you it isn't. And I think we all know that it's not.
- 13:24Dave Hamilton: Building the charmed life of an entrepreneur means protecting every piece of it.
- 13:28Dave Hamilton: Your client data, your team, your reputation, right? Your accounts.
- 13:33Dave Hamilton: And that's why our sponsor Bitdefender is worth your attention.
- 13:36Dave Hamilton: Bitdefender is a global leader in cybersecurity, and their ultimate small business
- 13:41Dave Hamilton: security is purpose-built for businesses with 25 or fewer employees who don't
- 13:46Dave Hamilton: have a dedicated IT department.
- 13:48Dave Hamilton: You get AI-powered scam protection trained specifically on small business attack
- 13:52Dave Hamilton: patterns, the kind that catch phishing attempts, right?
- 13:55Dave Hamilton: Fake messages and malicious links before anyone on your team ever sees them.
- 14:01Dave Hamilton: Add in dark web monitoring to flag if your data shows up somewhere it shouldn't.
- 14:05Dave Hamilton: Password management, unlimited VPN for your remote folks, right?
- 14:09Dave Hamilton: And one clean, easy dashboard to run it all.
- 14:13Dave Hamilton: It's outstanding. You got to check this out. Keep your small business safe with
- 14:18Dave Hamilton: Bitdefender Ultimate Small Business Security.
- 14:21Dave Hamilton: And save 30% when you go to bitdefender.com slash brain.
- 14:25Dave Hamilton: That's bitdefender.com slash brain for 30% off. Check it out.
- 14:30Dave Hamilton: I think you're going to really like it and our thanks to Bitdefender for sponsoring this episode.
- 14:35Dave Hamilton: And we entrepreneurs are pretty good at optimizing everything except ourselves, right?
- 14:40Dave Hamilton: We'll spend hours finding just the right tool, the right system,
- 14:44Dave Hamilton: the right process, and then slap the same drugstore moisturizer on our face
- 14:48Dave Hamilton: that we've been using since college, right? That's not the charmed life.
- 14:51Dave Hamilton: That's just inertia. It happens. Well, we can make some changes.
- 14:55Dave Hamilton: I've been using our sponsor OneSkin's face and eye for a couple of months now, as I've mentioned.
- 14:59Dave Hamilton: And what changed my mind is that it's not just another skincare product,
- 15:03Dave Hamilton: right? Most skincare sits on the surface.
- 15:06Dave Hamilton: One skin's OS1 peptide actually goes after the root cause.
- 15:11Dave Hamilton: As we age, skin cells stop functioning the way that they used to,
- 15:15Dave Hamilton: right? The scientists call them zombie cells.
- 15:18Dave Hamilton: And that's what's driving the fine lines, the loss of firmness, the dullness.
- 15:22Dave Hamilton: OS1 was specifically engineered to address those cells directly.
- 15:27Dave Hamilton: I even used AI to compare photos taken like six weeks apart,
- 15:30Dave Hamilton: right? Smoother forehead, it found more even texture, firmer under my eyes.
- 15:35Dave Hamilton: I have spreadsheets with less compelling data than that, right?
- 15:38Dave Hamilton: Just last week, I used OneSkin's Face SPF while I was in Los Angeles, and it too is fantastic.
- 15:45Dave Hamilton: No greasy feeling, no residue, and you're getting that OS1 protection and mineral SPF in one shot.
- 15:53Dave Hamilton: That's protecting against future damage while reversing past summers.
- 15:57Dave Hamilton: Backed by four peer-reviewed clinical studies and over 10,000 five-star reviews.
- 16:03Dave Hamilton: Born from over a decade of longevity research, OneSkin's OS1 peptide is proven
- 16:09Dave Hamilton: to target the visible signs of aging, helping you unlock your healthiest skin now and as you age.
- 16:16Dave Hamilton: For a limited time, try OneSkin with 15% off using code BRAIN at oneskin.co slash BRAIN.
- 16:25Dave Hamilton: That's 15% off oneskin.co with code BRAIN.
- 16:31Dave Hamilton: After you purchase, they'll ask you where you heard about them.
- 16:34Dave Hamilton: Please mention the show so you can support the show and tell them we sent you.
- 16:38Dave Hamilton: Go check it out, oneskin.co slash brain. I think you're going to like it at least as much as I do.
- 16:43Dave Hamilton: And our thanks to OneSkin for sponsoring this episode.
- 16:48Dave Hamilton: What's next, Shannon? What do you got for today? I hate you early. What do you got for me?
- 16:52Shannon Jean: Yeah, you hate me. Okay, so hey. So we recorded this show on Monday.
- 16:57Shannon Jean: And last Friday, SpaceX, their IPO.
- 17:01Dave Hamilton: Yeah, that's right.
- 17:01Shannon Jean: And that went out.
- 17:05Shannon Jean: And a byproduct of that, along with like 4,000 other employees that became millionaires
- 17:11Shannon Jean: that worked for SpaceX. SpaceX has been doing this for 24 years.
- 17:14Shannon Jean: So it's not like they're overnight, right? They've been doing all this stuff.
- 17:18Dave Hamilton: And they even have a profitable business, right? They have a profit with Starlink.
- 17:23Shannon Jean: And they transport 80% of all cargo to space is going through SpaceX right now. It's crazy.
- 17:31Dave Hamilton: I actually want to, I know you've got a point, but I wanted to share something
- 17:35Dave Hamilton: that kind of blew me away. This was probably nine years ago.
- 17:40Dave Hamilton: I was invited with a group of other podcasters to go visit NASA at Kennedy Space Center for a day.
- 17:47Shannon Jean: Oh, I love that place.
- 17:48Dave Hamilton: We were taken kind of behind the scenes, but not like where we had to get like
- 17:53Dave Hamilton: top secret security clearance or anything. So yeah.
- 17:55Dave Hamilton: And, and we were, we were toured through and it was a whole day event. It was fantastic.
- 17:59Dave Hamilton: But one of the things that they said to me that kind of stuck with me because
- 18:03Dave Hamilton: it really blew me away in the moment was they, they pointed,
- 18:06Dave Hamilton: they said, okay, well that pad, that's SpaceX's pad and that pad over there is blue origins pad.
- 18:12Dave Hamilton: And it was like, and they said the, the vision of the,
- 18:17Dave Hamilton: this as a multi-use spaceport has been realized like when nasa built this it
- 18:25Dave Hamilton: was like the government was going to do the thing where it it it you know
- 18:29Dave Hamilton: paves the way get it going yes right yes and then the idea is that private industry
- 18:34Dave Hamilton: would take over and of course
- 18:36Dave Hamilton: even at that point in time and of course we did get to see the artemis stuff
- 18:39Dave Hamilton: there which was cool especially given what's happened recently you know with
- 18:42Dave Hamilton: all the yeah the moon stuff and so it was it was but Like,
- 18:48Dave Hamilton: this is an interest, this is how it's supposed to, it's how the internet was
- 18:52Dave Hamilton: incubated, right? It's the same kind of thing. So anyway.
- 18:55Shannon Jean: No, it's great. And it's a good point. And I, you know, a byproduct of the SpaceX
- 19:02Shannon Jean: IPOs that Elon Musk became on paper are the first trillionaire, right?
- 19:07Dave Hamilton: Yes.
- 19:08Shannon Jean: Not that he has that, you know, money stuff, but because he's built equity in all these companies.
- 19:14Shannon Jean: But some of the posts, I saw a post by some, you know, just some politician
- 19:19Shannon Jean: or whatever that said something to the effect of, you know, Elon Musk becomes
- 19:22Shannon Jean: the, today became the first trillionaire.
- 19:25Shannon Jean: Let's make sure he's the last.
- 19:27Shannon Jean: And I thought that, you know, I never post about politics, but that comment
- 19:34Shannon Jean: hit me so much that in such a negative way of thinking.
- 19:39Shannon Jean: And so when I reposted the comment, I actually added, I said,
- 19:42Shannon Jean: hey, this is really not a political post. It's a post about mindset.
- 19:46Shannon Jean: And if you want to have a great life and be in control of your own destiny and
- 19:51Shannon Jean: be accountable and live an uncommon life, don't think like this.
- 19:56Shannon Jean: Because despite what you may feel about, you know, Elon and value and politics,
- 20:02Shannon Jean: that's separate. I'm not even, I didn't even mention it. However, almost...
- 20:08Shannon Jean: Almost all of the comments, there was a ton of likes. It got some very positive comments as well.
- 20:13Shannon Jean: But a lot of the comments were dragging back into, so they don't deserve it,
- 20:18Shannon Jean: it's not fair, their politics, this kind of thing. And I kept reminding people,
- 20:23Shannon Jean: I said, my post is not about any of that.
- 20:26Shannon Jean: It's about mindset and that you have a choice and you can decide to have this
- 20:31Shannon Jean: mindset of the pie is ever growing, that it's not a zero, what do they call it?
- 20:37Dave Hamilton: It's not a zero-sum game. Nope.
- 20:39Shannon Jean: It's not a zero-sum game. Just because someone's a trillionaire,
- 20:41Shannon Jean: billionaire, doesn't mean you, that doesn't take anything away from you.
- 20:45Shannon Jean: And matter of fact, I would argue the politician takes more away from you than
- 20:48Shannon Jean: somebody who's building businesses, but that's another show.
- 20:51Dave Hamilton: I saw another thing that predicted that by the time he, you know,
- 20:56Dave Hamilton: it leaves this mortal coil, Elon Musk will have paid over a trillion dollars in taxes too.
- 21:02Shannon Jean: Absolutely. I mentioned that as well because I got lots of that about doesn't
- 21:05Shannon Jean: pay taxes, this kind of thing.
- 21:06Shannon Jean: But I kept reminding people, hey, if you think, if you have this really scarce
- 21:13Shannon Jean: mindset, and I get concerned about a segment of our population that are taught
- 21:19Shannon Jean: constantly that there's not enough,
- 21:23Shannon Jean: it'll never be as good as it was, it'll be, and, you know, and maybe this goes
- 21:28Shannon Jean: beyond a little bit of our business, you know, frame here, but I don't think so.
- 21:32Shannon Jean: As entrepreneurs and business owners, of course, you have to be an optimist, right?
- 21:37Dave Hamilton: You can't think with a scarcity mindset.
- 21:39Shannon Jean: You'll never make it if you do that. And so I just was, I felt compelled to
- 21:46Shannon Jean: just continue to remind everybody, look, it's abundance, man.
- 21:51Shannon Jean: You have to think. Our best years are ahead of us.
- 21:55Shannon Jean: Everything you want is possible. And if that's, if you want to become,
- 21:58Shannon Jean: I don't think, you know, Elon didn't start to become a billionaire to become
- 22:02Shannon Jean: a trillionaire that that's,
- 22:04Shannon Jean: It is, you know, secondary or maybe even way down the line to what he's tried to achieve.
- 22:10Shannon Jean: Yeah. But even in the post, I was not, you know, it wasn't the defense of Elon.
- 22:14Shannon Jean: It was a defense of the concept.
- 22:16Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 22:17Shannon Jean: Yeah. And abundance.
- 22:18Dave Hamilton: And abundance. Oh, yes. No, that's the, that's the, I agree.
- 22:25Dave Hamilton: It, and it is difficult to help someone change their mind if they don't want
- 22:32Dave Hamilton: to change their mind on this. Oh, yeah. That's the right way to say it because,
- 22:36Dave Hamilton: it's not difficult to change someone's mind.
- 22:38Dave Hamilton: If you're out there and you realize that, oh, my gosh, my mindset defaults to
- 22:44Dave Hamilton: scarcity, you can fix that. In fact, it's very easy to fix that.
- 22:48Dave Hamilton: You just start thinking differently about things.
- 22:52Dave Hamilton: And don't worry about – I know how easy it is to worry.
- 22:58Dave Hamilton: My businesses have down years too. There's times when my employees individually
- 23:05Dave Hamilton: and certainly collectively earn more than me.
- 23:08Dave Hamilton: Like there's years where I choose not to take a salary or whatever just to build
- 23:11Dave Hamilton: the business and like all those things.
- 23:13Dave Hamilton: And like even in those years, in fact, especially.
- 23:19Shannon Jean: Because of your optimism and your framework of abundance. That's why I'm doing
- 23:23Shannon Jean: it. That's what carries you through.
- 23:25Dave Hamilton: That's it. That's the fuel is I know it can be better.
- 23:30Dave Hamilton: Do I have proof that it can be better? Only in retrospect, obviously. Of course, yes.
- 23:35Dave Hamilton: I can't, but I believe that it can be better. And that's the difference.
- 23:39Dave Hamilton: That's what we're talking about here.
- 23:41Dave Hamilton: That's correct. It's minding your mindset, right? Yeah.
- 23:45Shannon Jean: Yeah, and
- 23:49Shannon Jean: you can spread that throughout your organization.
- 23:52Dave Hamilton: Oh, yeah.
- 23:53Shannon Jean: The way you talk, the way you interact with your employees
- 23:58Shannon Jean: and present the opportunities to them, the way, you know, especially those employees
- 24:03Shannon Jean: or, you know, consultants or members of your team that you know are ambitious and want to grow,
- 24:08Shannon Jean: you know, that's, you want to embrace those people and hold on while they move
- 24:12Shannon Jean: up and help your organization.
- 24:13Shannon Jean: And like you said, sometimes they make more than you, but that's okay. Yeah.
- 24:17Dave Hamilton: Yeah. So, you know, even in those days, that means the cash is flowing.
- 24:21Dave Hamilton: That is a good thing. That's a reason to be optimistic.
- 24:25Shannon Jean: Yeah, that's right. And it's like, you know, I get sometimes boredom is my biggest enemy.
- 24:32Shannon Jean: And sometimes after a few years of doing the same kind of stuff over and over and over again.
- 24:37Shannon Jean: So the perfect way to solve that is to find the next person who wants to do
- 24:42Shannon Jean: what you've been doing it's like okay i'm going to empower you look at all the
- 24:45Shannon Jean: stuff we can create look at all these things so
- 24:48Shannon Jean: embrace abundance make it part of your lexicon your language the way you talk
- 24:54Shannon Jean: don't get caught in petty arguments about who deserves what or whatever we i mean we have to Maybe,
- 25:00Dave Hamilton: Man, I don't know. Life's not fair. Like, we all know that. Of course not.
- 25:04Dave Hamilton: So, you know, like, let the defense stipulate life's not fair.
- 25:09Dave Hamilton: Okay. It's not fair. Moving on. Right. Moving on. Yeah.
- 25:12Shannon Jean: Good stuff. Yeah. So anyway, I just thought it was worth pointing out our best years are ahead of us.
- 25:17Dave Hamilton: They must be.
