Latest / Foul Territory / FT Postgame: Brewers up Cubs again, Dodgers take both games in Philly
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: It's Scotty Brown, Eric Kratz, and Kevin Pullar. We're going
- 0:06Speaker 1: to first talk about the Cubs and Brewers, and then
- 0:08Speaker 1: we will get to the Phillies and the Dodgers and Gratz.
- 0:11Speaker 1: You used to play for this Milwaukee team and actually
- 0:13Speaker 1: had a nice little run during a time period where
- 0:15Speaker 1: they thought maybe they could make the World Series. Very
- 0:19Speaker 1: strong start for this team. They take down the Cubs again.
- 0:22Speaker 1: They've scored sixteen runs in their first two games, and
- 0:26Speaker 1: now they're one went away from another National League Championship
- 0:29Speaker 1: Series appearance. Your thoughts on what you're seeing so far.
- 0:34Speaker 2: The problem that the Brewers had going into the playoffs
- 0:36Speaker 2: was it didn't hit enough homers.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Screw that.
- 0:40Speaker 2: They took care of that tonight. They're doing it every
- 0:43Speaker 2: which way. And then they're like, ah, you know what,
- 0:45Speaker 2: we had five days off. We're gonna go ahead and
- 0:49Speaker 2: do an open wait in the bullpen gate Wait a minute,
- 0:52Speaker 2: no miss is gonna pitch all the things that you
- 0:55Speaker 2: would think the teams that get the brakes wouldn't do,
- 0:58Speaker 2: and they did it, and let's go brew crew.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 1: And we were texting KP you know, Kratz and AJ
- 1:08Speaker 1: and me about the decision by Milwaukee to go with
- 1:12Speaker 1: Ashby as the opener he had pitched in Game one,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and to let him try and feast against the top
- 1:18Speaker 1: of the order for the Cubs. Cubs countered. Cubs got
- 1:20Speaker 1: three runs off the Brewers in the first, just like
- 1:23Speaker 1: in Game one. They were able to strike first, but
- 1:26Speaker 1: it didn't go far. They didn't score the rest of
- 1:28Speaker 1: the damn game.
- 1:30Speaker 4: They knew what they were doing. But I mean, it's
- 1:32Speaker 4: obviously to kind of just at least appear that I
- 1:36Speaker 4: left he's going to go multiple winnings and try to
- 1:39Speaker 4: set their lineup in the bench out. I mean, it's
- 1:42Speaker 4: kind of the new way of kind of doing it.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Especially when teams are kind of built off platoons, you've
- 1:47Speaker 4: got to kind of try to counter that in any
- 1:49Speaker 4: way possible.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Okay, So first off, I want to talk about Jackson Cheerio.
- 1:57Speaker 1: He is battling a hamstring issue. He does not look
- 2:00Speaker 1: on Kevin. It helps when you can hit dingers at
- 2:04Speaker 1: twenty one years old and then you don't have to
- 2:06Speaker 1: worry as much about doing crazy things on the base paths.
- 2:08Speaker 1: What are you seeing from him in the first couple games.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Yeah, just hit dingers and stay healthy obviously, then being
- 2:16Speaker 4: able to close out the series as soon as possible
- 2:18Speaker 4: for his health is going to be the most beneficial them.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Obviously going out and scoring a ton of runs and
- 2:24Speaker 4: at some point they're going to have to make a
- 2:27Speaker 4: business decision, and you know, hopefully they have a big
- 2:30Speaker 4: enough lead and they can sub them out on defense
- 2:32Speaker 4: or if he's able to get on base and bringing
- 2:34Speaker 4: a pinch runner. But the great thing about being twenty
- 2:38Speaker 4: one is some of those things he a little bit quicker,
- 2:41Speaker 4: So hopefully it's very mild, and youth is on his side.
- 2:44Speaker 4: So off to a good start, you know, off day,
- 2:49Speaker 4: you know, hopefully they can, for his sake and for
- 2:51Speaker 4: their team's sake, they can close it out as soon
- 2:53Speaker 4: as possible and just give them as much rest as
- 2:56Speaker 4: humanly possible.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So that was the three run homer, and that took
- 2:59Speaker 1: this to a seven to three game from the four
- 3:01Speaker 1: to three lead that the Brewers had. What'd you think
- 3:04Speaker 1: of that sequence there, Kratz? There was one oh one
- 3:07Speaker 1: point four, which, according to Sarah Langx is the hardest
- 3:12Speaker 1: pitch to hit for a home run in the postseason
- 3:15Speaker 1: since they started pitch tracking in what was it two
- 3:18Speaker 1: thousand and eight, I think she said, or maybe stack
- 3:20Speaker 1: cast I think she meant pitch tracking. But but anyway,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I mean plenty of challenged him. I think with three
- 3:26Speaker 1: pitches that were over the middle quadrant and third one,
- 3:29Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, this is one of the best young
- 3:32Speaker 1: hitters in the sport. Stop challenging like that.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I mean, you have to challenge him. To me, you
- 3:39Speaker 2: have to challenge him. You can't come in plentcy. You
- 3:41Speaker 2: can't come in and be like, yeah, I wonder how
- 3:43Speaker 2: I'm gonna get him out now. If they're like, hey,
- 3:45Speaker 2: you know what, we gotta throw that banger down in
- 3:47Speaker 2: his zone or something. But for him to be able
- 3:50Speaker 2: to get on top of that ball where it was,
- 3:53Speaker 2: I think it was a little out of the zone.
- 3:55Speaker 2: If not, it was top of the zone and we'll
- 3:58Speaker 2: put it out the center field at twenty one, while
- 4:00Speaker 2: KP said, this dude is going to heal up quickly,
- 4:04Speaker 2: like he's doing stuff at twenty one that you're not
- 4:07Speaker 2: supposed to be able to do. I just pulled up
- 4:08Speaker 2: his postseason numbers. He's hitting five seventy one in his
- 4:13Speaker 2: two postseasons. He's got fifteen playing appearances, eight hits, two dangers,
- 4:18Speaker 2: a double and he's struck out one time. He's twenty one.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I mean, what are we looking at? Are we looking
- 4:26Speaker 2: at Andrew Jones?
- 4:27Speaker 3: Here?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Is this what we're looking at? Just reborn? Hopefully his
- 4:30Speaker 2: hamstring is fine. They put they brought Lockridge in. I
- 4:34Speaker 2: think Murph is very aware that he's dealing with something.
- 4:38Speaker 2: But he was able to go to the line and
- 4:40Speaker 2: track that ball that can kind of be tough sometimes
- 4:42Speaker 2: because it comes back and make that catch in foul territory.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Lockridge can come in, pinch, run and come in for defense.
- 4:49Speaker 3: For him, he is getting it right now. KP.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Did you ever face him Anaga?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:56Speaker 4: I did I face him last year? I faced him
- 5:00Speaker 4: last year. Yeah, he's obviously they they're in the same division,
- 5:05Speaker 4: you know. Me facing them for the first time, it
- 5:08Speaker 4: was the first at bat was obviously the most challenging.
- 5:12Speaker 4: It's not elite stuff. It's it's very good command. There
- 5:17Speaker 4: is some carry to the fastball, there's some deception to
- 5:19Speaker 4: the split finger, but that's a challenge when you get
- 5:23Speaker 4: lined up with a team in your division. Like there's
- 5:25Speaker 4: no real secrets anymore. Like he doesn't necessarily have the
- 5:28Speaker 4: ability to outstuff you. You know, he's so relying on command,
- 5:32Speaker 4: there's no secrets anymore. And if he's not going to
- 5:35Speaker 4: command his pitches, you know the opposing team is going
- 5:38Speaker 4: to take advantage of you know, what he has to offer.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that was my thing Kratz is he's given him
- 5:44Speaker 1: so many home runs for a few months now. Second
- 5:46Speaker 1: half of the season, he gave up by far the
- 5:48Speaker 1: most home runs in baseball. I believe twenty two was
- 5:51Speaker 1: the number they were showing. The next highest was like
- 5:53Speaker 1: maybe sixteen or seventeen. So did you notice anything Kratz
- 5:57Speaker 1: that's leading to these issues consistently for him lately? I
- 5:59Speaker 1: mean every start he's given up at least a homer.
- 6:01Speaker 1: And then when you're taking on what's one of the
- 6:04Speaker 1: best offenses in baseball, you turned them into not just
- 6:07Speaker 1: a contact hitting team, but now a power hitting team.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I saw a thing or perceive velocity at the plate,
- 6:14Speaker 2: meaning what it looks like to the hitter. Ever since
- 6:18Speaker 2: he came back from the IL, I forget when it
- 6:20Speaker 2: was early in the season, the life on his fastball
- 6:24Speaker 2: just doesn't seem like it's there.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Is it the league getting used to him?
- 6:28Speaker 2: Is the league what kp was saying like it's kind
- 6:30Speaker 2: of awkward because it comes from a low slot. I
- 6:33Speaker 2: remember watching him last year, and I remember when we
- 6:35Speaker 2: first came into the league, guys were talking about possibly
- 6:38Speaker 2: like a long relief type of guy, and other guys
- 6:40Speaker 2: were saying, this guy could be a number two in
- 6:44Speaker 2: your rotation. He made the All Star team, came on
- 6:47Speaker 2: the show, had a great first year, and I don't
- 6:51Speaker 2: think he ever came back from his injury fully one hundred.
- 6:55Speaker 2: In the sense that when you don't have and this
- 6:57Speaker 2: is I guess why everybody chases velocity. You don't have
- 7:01Speaker 2: the elite velocity, and you don't have some kind of
- 7:04Speaker 2: like freakish talent where you're stepping closer, you're throwing from higher,
- 7:09Speaker 2: it's tougher to get away with mistakes, especially when your
- 7:13Speaker 2: ball is flat. And then boys start tee and off
- 7:17Speaker 2: they start, they start getting on top of balls and
- 7:19Speaker 2: they're not found them straight back, and then you're able
- 7:22Speaker 2: to get to something else to strike them out. And
- 7:24Speaker 2: that's what it seemed like in the second half we
- 7:27Speaker 2: were seeing from him FT fam.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Let's talk about Superpower. Eric Kratz is a proud Superpower customer,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and he's going to give us more of the personal experience.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But I'll just start it with this. You ever go
- 7:39Speaker 1: to the doctor and the docs just like, oh, drink
- 7:41Speaker 1: more water. Are you looking for more data, more of
- 7:43Speaker 1: a game plan? Superpower does that for you. They give
- 7:47Speaker 1: you the experience that athletes get with teams.
- 7:52Speaker 3: The lab results came back for me. Now it's streamlines everything.
- 7:56Speaker 2: That I kind of had an idea of, but now
- 8:00Speaker 2: well it really lets me focus on the things that
- 8:02Speaker 2: I'm deficient in, the things that I that I have good,
- 8:06Speaker 2: good lab test results from.
- 8:08Speaker 3: And I could go in that direction.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I want to go nutritional guidance, supplement suggestions, you name it.
- 8:14Speaker 1: There's so much more info to check out at superpower
- 8:17Speaker 1: dot com and you can lock in the special one
- 8:19Speaker 1: hundred ninety nine dollars price while at lasts after you
- 8:22Speaker 1: sign up, they're going to ask you how you heard
- 8:23Speaker 1: about him, mention ft to support the show Your biology Decoded,
- 8:27Speaker 1: Your Blueprint Activated with Superpower, which actually brings me to
- 8:33Speaker 1: a guy who hit a three run home run off
- 8:35Speaker 1: in Mianaga, Andrew Vaughn, Because if I recall KP, you
- 8:40Speaker 1: did spend some time with Andrew Vaughn and he got
- 8:44Speaker 1: the gift of his life by getting picked up by
- 8:47Speaker 1: the Milwaukee Brewers after coiling in the minor leagues at
- 8:51Speaker 1: one point this season with the White Sox, He's picked
- 8:54Speaker 1: up by a team that is really good at finding
- 8:56Speaker 1: players and making the best out of them. Right, I
- 9:00Speaker 1: think they're the best team to do that in the
- 9:03Speaker 1: National League. Maybe I would say these days, right, the
- 9:06Speaker 1: Rays have gotten a lot of credit on the Dodgers
- 9:09Speaker 1: is a good point, that's true, but it's hard to
- 9:10Speaker 1: find playing time with them. With Milwaukee, they actually needed
- 9:14Speaker 1: him in July and he came up big, and he's
- 9:16Speaker 1: still coming up big. He played great defensively too, But
- 9:18Speaker 1: what was that a seven pitch ab and then gets
- 9:21Speaker 1: that that cutter I'm looking at it again right now
- 9:22Speaker 1: that kind of hung across the middle of the plate
- 9:25Speaker 1: and hit the three run jack.
- 9:27Speaker 4: I just I just love what Merv kind of said
- 9:29Speaker 4: about him, because I think it's just a great thing
- 9:32Speaker 4: for people to understand, whether you're minor league player, your
- 9:37Speaker 4: fringe major leaguer even younger than that, like this game
- 9:40Speaker 4: is going to humble you at some point. I mean,
- 9:42Speaker 4: this kid was the what second or third overall pick
- 9:45Speaker 4: got off to a pretty good start in his career.
- 9:48Speaker 4: You know, was really never super challenged in Chicago in
- 9:53Speaker 4: terms of guys coming up to kind of take his position.
- 9:55Speaker 4: You know, we had some bad years and finally they
- 9:57Speaker 4: said we had enough with him, and he went to
- 10:00Speaker 4: the minor leagues. And he could have you know, packed
- 10:03Speaker 4: it in, he could have cast it in. He continued
- 10:04Speaker 4: to work, he continued to develop, he made some mechanical
- 10:08Speaker 4: and some mental changes, and he ultimately got his opportunity
- 10:12Speaker 4: through an injury. And sometimes you just need that good fortune,
- 10:16Speaker 4: You need that opportunity, you need a break, and he
- 10:19Speaker 4: not only got that opportunity but ran with it. And
- 10:23Speaker 4: you know, he's been a big part of their success
- 10:24Speaker 4: since he's been up. You know, he's been able to
- 10:27Speaker 4: not only hit in the middle of the lineup and
- 10:29Speaker 4: and bring some power and some stability. He plays great
- 10:32Speaker 4: first base too.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I played with von soon after he got drafted with
- 10:38Speaker 2: Team USA, and the very Quiet Guy came on the
- 10:42Speaker 2: show with us earlier. Quiet Guy. So it's not like
- 10:48Speaker 2: this guy's like all of a sudden going to Milwaukee
- 10:50Speaker 2: and there's a secret sauce that Milwaukee has compared to
- 10:54Speaker 2: the White Sox. But from what I've heard because I've
- 10:57Speaker 2: only been in the Milwaukee organization, in that clubhouse and
- 11:01Speaker 2: talking to those the front office. They let you be you,
- 11:06Speaker 2: but they let you be you as a winning player.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Some places are like, hey, I just want to let
- 11:10Speaker 2: my players be who they are.
- 11:13Speaker 3: And you get nothing out of them.
- 11:15Speaker 2: But they let you be you as long as you
- 11:17Speaker 2: buy into the fact that, you know what, you might
- 11:20Speaker 2: only be here for a little while until Reese Hoskins
- 11:22Speaker 2: comes back, but we're going to give you every opportunity.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Here's what we think you can do. Go out and
- 11:28Speaker 2: do it your way. I mean, the dude became King
- 11:33Speaker 2: Vaughn in Milwaukee, like this is a this is a
- 11:36Speaker 2: very quiet person who has a lot of potential, has
- 11:41Speaker 2: a lot of power. But with the White SOPs, it
- 11:44Speaker 2: was never like he was never really challenged to dig
- 11:47Speaker 2: deep into his power. It was like, hey, you got
- 11:49Speaker 2: to elite back to ball skills, Okay, go out and
- 11:53Speaker 2: do that baseball thing. And it was just a bad
- 11:56Speaker 2: environment because you see so many guys now from those
- 11:59Speaker 2: white SOPs teams that are playing for these playoff teams,
- 12:03Speaker 2: pitchers Andrew Vaughn like relievers, starters.
- 12:07Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean sometimes some of these some of these
- 12:12Speaker 4: players like the Andrew Bonds, the Gavin Chets, like you know, analytically,
- 12:17Speaker 4: they they have a lot to offer, like they have
- 12:19Speaker 4: a certain skill set, but maybe one of their greatest
- 12:22Speaker 4: attributes is they're just winning baseball players. And when you're
- 12:25Speaker 4: not in a winning environment, like your best version of
- 12:28Speaker 4: yourself cannot come out. I feel very similar to that,
- 12:32Speaker 4: Like my greatest qualities that's helping a team win. Like, individually,
- 12:36Speaker 4: my skills are just okay. You know, if you put
- 12:39Speaker 4: me on a bad team, I'm just an average player.
- 12:42Speaker 4: But if you put me on a good team, I'm
- 12:43Speaker 4: elevated because my skill set is elevated. When I'm in
- 12:47Speaker 4: a winning culture, I do the little things to help
- 12:50Speaker 4: you win games that you know, allow you to be
- 12:52Speaker 4: your best version yourself. And I think that's what you're
- 12:54Speaker 4: seeing with Andrew Vaughn.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 2: How about the fact that you have young guys on
- 12:59Speaker 2: the Brewers team too that can be who they are
- 13:04Speaker 2: and it's hey, you know what, you have success even
- 13:08Speaker 2: when you have failures. Pat Murphyl'd call you out. No
- 13:11Speaker 2: better example than the miss this Roski comes in, maybe
- 13:16Speaker 2: not even maybe not even a shoe in for the roster.
- 13:20Speaker 2: To be on this NLDS roster, you need guys that
- 13:23Speaker 2: are going to be able to give you length or
- 13:25Speaker 2: shut the game down in one inning. He wasn't throwing strikes.
- 13:29Speaker 2: He was kind of he was kind of disconnected from
- 13:32Speaker 2: his role. Am I a starter?
- 13:35Speaker 4: No?
- 13:35Speaker 2: They tried him in the bullpen. It didn't go very
- 13:38Speaker 2: well at the end of the year. And you need
- 13:39Speaker 2: guys that throw strikes. The Miz comes in in this
- 13:43Speaker 2: game and gives the Brewers. If they didn't need another weapon,
- 13:48Speaker 2: it gives them another weapon. Maybe this was Miss's game,
- 13:51Speaker 2: but it's something that KP You've seen it. If there's
- 13:54Speaker 2: a if there's a reliever or even a bolt guy
- 13:58Speaker 2: that comes in the game late and is not throwing strikes,
- 14:02Speaker 2: big league hitters just feast on it. They just say,
- 14:06Speaker 2: you know what, I'm not swinging. And I think for
- 14:08Speaker 2: me the bat that swung it for the Miz and
- 14:11Speaker 2: he had a walk after this, but it was the
- 14:13Speaker 2: Dansby Swanson at bat Dansby Swanson, I think there was
- 14:17Speaker 2: one out and Dansby came up and it was kind
- 14:19Speaker 2: of like he spraying some balls all over the place
- 14:22Speaker 2: and then Dansby came up and he went strike one,
- 14:25Speaker 2: strike two, and Dansby was like, come on, bro, like
- 14:28Speaker 2: you're supposed to be a four balls before three guy,
- 14:32Speaker 2: and there's I saw it.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Shift. I saw it shift.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Yeah, there's no better way sometimes to just get back
- 14:39Speaker 4: into a game, even if it's lopsided, you know, much
- 14:42Speaker 4: like the game that I was doing in Toronto the
- 14:46Speaker 4: other day, Like it was eleven nothing or thirteen nothing,
- 14:49Speaker 4: but they kind of went to that, you know, other
- 14:51Speaker 4: part of their bullpen to just kind of get out
- 14:54Speaker 4: and eat up innings. And the Yankees ended up scoring
- 14:58Speaker 4: seven runs in that game, and some of it came
- 14:59Speaker 4: out off a walk. But it was also sometimes as
- 15:01Speaker 4: a player, when nothing is going right collectively or individually,
- 15:05Speaker 4: you just need one little thing to build your confidence.
- 15:08Speaker 4: And sometimes even when a guy like the Miz comes
- 15:11Speaker 4: in and doesn't throw strikes and you can just reach
- 15:14Speaker 4: first base, there's kind of this sigh of relief. Everything
- 15:16Speaker 4: is so magnified in a playoff game. So if he
- 15:21Speaker 4: comes in and doesn't do what he's supposed to do
- 15:23Speaker 4: and he's just sprang the ball over the place, and
- 15:25Speaker 4: even if they go out and win this game, like
- 15:27Speaker 4: there is confidence that could be built from all these hitters,
- 15:30Speaker 4: you know, to take into Game three.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Dude showed us some one oh four and change. I mean,
- 15:36Speaker 1: come on, three shutout innings, a hit, four punchies, yes,
- 15:39Speaker 1: two walks, twelve pitches that were clocked at one oh
- 15:43Speaker 1: two plus. I mean that is fun. And if you're
- 15:46Speaker 1: a more casual baseball fan and you tune in for that,
- 15:49Speaker 1: you're like, Okay, I see, UMLB, these guys are ridiculous.
- 15:53Speaker 1: He's a big dude. He took the league by storm
- 15:56Speaker 1: and then went through a lot of adversity, like krat said,
- 15:59Speaker 1: and look at it now. He looks like he could
- 16:01Speaker 1: be a big weapon for the Brew crew if he
- 16:02Speaker 1: can continue to find the strike zone enough the effectively
- 16:05Speaker 1: wild fastball. So let's finish with this Kratz. You first,
- 16:09Speaker 1: do the Cubs have a chance? Saya Suzuki showed some
- 16:12Speaker 1: life for the team first inning? Big What was that
- 16:15Speaker 1: four dred and forty foot home run off a change
- 16:18Speaker 1: up middle up, and you're like, okay, maybe the Cubs
- 16:21Speaker 1: are going to show up with some power here. That's
- 16:22Speaker 1: where they should have an advantage. They should be able
- 16:24Speaker 1: to keep up with this team. Defensively. I think that
- 16:26Speaker 1: there is definitely a clear cut difference in pitching that
- 16:29Speaker 1: we've been seeing the first couple games. But the Cubs
- 16:31Speaker 1: come back if what.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Kyle Tucker carries this team and say it stays hot,
- 16:38Speaker 2: say it was, say it is like you you have
- 16:41Speaker 2: to get exactly what say it did tonight. I think
- 16:43Speaker 2: he had five homers in his last four games going
- 16:46Speaker 2: into the postseason. Then he went six homers in the
- 16:49Speaker 2: last five games after he hit that first that homer
- 16:52Speaker 2: in the Wild Card. Like, he's kind of been hot,
- 16:54Speaker 2: he's been hitting dangers, but you need Kyle Tucker. Sorry,
- 16:59Speaker 2: it's a lot to put on a it's been out,
- 17:00Speaker 2: but you need Kyle Tucker.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Kp any chance the Cubs come back.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Not from what I had seen, but they do have
- 17:09Speaker 4: Kyle Tucker. It's one of the best players in the world.
- 17:11Speaker 4: He's good enough to kind of win games on his own.
- 17:14Speaker 4: And obviously kind of going back home, if Wriglely can
- 17:18Speaker 4: kind of create this environment that the Cubs need to
- 17:22Speaker 4: go out and score. They need to not let the
- 17:26Speaker 4: Brewers score. They need to score first, and then they
- 17:28Speaker 4: also need to put up another zero and then just
- 17:30Speaker 4: kind of allow this energy, which you knows Wrigley is
- 17:34Speaker 4: going to be rocking to kind of just potentially carry
- 17:37Speaker 4: them to a victory. And then I always say, when
- 17:41Speaker 4: you're up to nothing in a series, when you're the
- 17:45Speaker 4: team that's up, you got to put the team away.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Because all the pressure is obviously on the Cubs to
- 17:49Speaker 4: go out and win. If they don't win, their season's over.
- 17:51Speaker 4: The Cubs win, I think that pressure kind of gets
- 17:55Speaker 4: pushed back on Milwaukee a little bit because the last
- 17:57Speaker 4: thing you want to do is go to a Game
- 17:59Speaker 4: five because anything, and so you know, if you're the Brewers,
- 18:02Speaker 4: you've got to kind of have this step on their
- 18:04Speaker 4: neck mentality. And obviously the Cubs are going to be
- 18:06Speaker 4: playing with, you know, desperation, but I think they need
- 18:10Speaker 4: to score first. They need to put up a zero
- 18:13Speaker 4: after that, and then they need to let that home
- 18:15Speaker 4: field advantage kind of take over.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see if the power shows up for the
- 18:20Speaker 1: Cubs that regularly. The problem is right now, I mean,
- 18:22Speaker 1: the Brewers are showing us power that does not represent
- 18:24Speaker 1: a team that ranked twenty second in the league in
- 18:27Speaker 1: that category. And I would imagine Quinn Priesters lined up
- 18:30Speaker 1: for Game three for the Brewers, and you.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Can over what Locke he gets done.
- 18:36Speaker 4: He doesn't ever lose, does he no?
- 18:38Speaker 2: Nineteen straight going into the end of the season. Now
- 18:41Speaker 2: he doesn't win all of them himself.
- 18:42Speaker 4: The boys lose them, he doesn't lose them.
- 18:45Speaker 3: He doesn't lose W's.
- 18:48Speaker 1: They said, bullpen game today and then we want Priester
- 18:51Speaker 1: for Game three and it might work out beautifully for them.
- 18:53Speaker 1: If not, then okay, we could have ourselves a series.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I mean, they thought that Brent Woodriff would be their
- 18:59Speaker 1: Game two starter, and he's not around at least for
- 19:01Speaker 1: this round. We'll keep an eye on him, but we
- 19:03Speaker 1: will get to the Phillies and the Dodgers series. We're
- 19:06Speaker 1: going to find out who the Brewers are going to face.
- 19:08Speaker 1: We might have ourselves the twenty eighteen LCS rematch. We'll
- 19:11Speaker 1: swing right back and talk about that one ft fam.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Another reason why you should love Arena Club is the
- 19:17Speaker 1: grading system. So you recently pulled a slap pack and
- 19:21Speaker 1: then you said, hey, it's not great. Great it for me?
- 19:24Speaker 1: They gave you an eight point five out of ten
- 19:26Speaker 1: on your auto whitey Ford card, and then they show
- 19:29Speaker 1: you all the details of the grading system. It's very
- 19:32Speaker 1: interactive within the app, and then you're done. If you
- 19:34Speaker 1: want to sell the card or you want to know
- 19:36Speaker 1: what it's worth, you've got it.
- 19:37Speaker 5: It's like getting taken a school on cards. And I
- 19:40Speaker 5: think that's the coolest part of it. If you're young
- 19:41Speaker 5: or old, you understand, Hey, this is how it gets
- 19:44Speaker 5: deciphered all the way through. It shows you the numbers
- 19:47Speaker 5: and how they went through it. I think that's the
- 19:48Speaker 5: coolest part about this whole thing. And then you can
- 19:50Speaker 5: keep it traded or sell it or whatever you want.
- 19:52Speaker 1: And it's so much more efficient to do this through
- 19:56Speaker 1: Arena Club. Whether you're ripping a pack, there's the slab packs,
- 19:59Speaker 1: buying card, selling a card, grading a card, it's all
- 20:02Speaker 1: there for you. We talk about it all season long.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Arenaclub dot com slash foul is where you can go
- 20:07Speaker 1: to give it a shot. Twenty percent off your first
- 20:09Speaker 1: card purchase. Arenaclub dot com slash foul. Use the code
- 20:12Speaker 1: foul at checkout and get twenty percent off. Let's recap
- 20:16Speaker 1: what we've seen so far in the first two games
- 20:18Speaker 1: of the Dodgers and the Phillies in Philadelphia. That home
- 20:22Speaker 1: field advantage best home record in baseball this year, and
- 20:26Speaker 1: if you listened to us on Foul Territory on Monday
- 20:29Speaker 1: afternoon before the game, you would have thought, well, that
- 20:32Speaker 1: actually doesn't mean shit, And it didn't if the Phillies
- 20:36Speaker 1: lost both games. Kratz, you live in the area. They're
- 20:39Speaker 1: booing the Duran entrance music, not at him. They're just
- 20:42Speaker 1: pissed off that they are seeing this from their team
- 20:45Speaker 1: and that they've lost five of their last six games
- 20:47Speaker 1: at the bank. Bedlam at the Bank is not a
- 20:49Speaker 1: thing right now. The offense is not showing up for them.
- 20:52Speaker 1: We can come up with all kinds of other excuses,
- 20:54Speaker 1: but they're not putting up big numbers at home offensively
- 20:57Speaker 1: against a very good pitching team in these first two
- 21:00Speaker 1: games for Philadelphia. And let's also give credit to the
- 21:03Speaker 1: Dodgers for playing a really good game.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, before we before we get
- 21:07Speaker 2: too hard on the on the Phillies. The Dodgers did
- 21:10Speaker 2: throw the absolute snot out of the ball. But I
- 21:13Speaker 2: see exactly what I saw part in parts of the season.
- 21:18Speaker 2: It's a team that for some reason does not hit
- 21:21Speaker 2: starting pitching very well. Yes they can, because they are
- 21:25Speaker 2: a very power packed lineup and they have a bunch
- 21:27Speaker 2: of veteran hitters, but for some reason together as a unit,
- 21:31Speaker 2: don't consistently hit starting pitching very well. And you're running
- 21:35Speaker 2: into the best starting pitching in the playoffs right now.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Have they been the best all season? Absolutely not, because
- 21:43Speaker 2: most of them haven't even been healthy all season. But
- 21:46Speaker 2: they I mean Blake Snell back to back outings. Last
- 21:50Speaker 2: time he faced him during the regular season, they had
- 21:52Speaker 2: twelve punches. Tonight he was he was doing whatever he wanted.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Lozardo was also doing whatever he wanted. But we're talking
- 22:00Speaker 2: about the offense. The top of the order has to
- 22:03Speaker 2: come through. And they found a little kink, they found
- 22:07Speaker 2: a little opening, and they left the door open a crack,
- 22:10Speaker 2: and the offense did exactly what they do. They beat
- 22:13Speaker 2: up the bullpen. They didn't beat up m and Shehan
- 22:16Speaker 2: not a bullpen guy as a starter. But as soon
- 22:18Speaker 2: as they got to trying, and as soon as they
- 22:21Speaker 2: were allowed to face trying, they had him. They had him,
- 22:25Speaker 2: and they had him on the ropes. They had Vesia
- 22:27Speaker 2: on the ropes, and they weren't able to finish it out.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Did you see did you like the bunt call?
- 22:34Speaker 4: There?
- 22:34Speaker 1: KP for Bryson Stott and then the wheel play that
- 22:38Speaker 1: just was executed perfectly for the Dodgers to get the
- 22:40Speaker 1: out with the lead runner.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you got to do whatever you came
- 22:44Speaker 4: in that situation to get the guy to third base.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Teams don't teams don't like practice the wheel play all
- 22:51Speaker 4: that offense. I mean, it would be I heard Max
- 22:53Speaker 4: Munsey talking about kind of the conversation that the three
- 22:57Speaker 4: infielders were having about that they the pitching change and
- 23:01Speaker 4: kind of okate it, but it was kind of spearheaded
- 23:04Speaker 4: for Mookie, who obviously just has an unbelievable baseball IQ,
- 23:09Speaker 4: you know, and the willingness to want to run that play.
- 23:12Speaker 4: But I would love to know the last time they
- 23:14Speaker 4: actually practiced that play. I mean, it had to have
- 23:16Speaker 4: been in spring training, you know. I doubt the three
- 23:19Speaker 4: of those guys, the combination of those guys have been
- 23:21Speaker 4: out on a field at any point in time since
- 23:24Speaker 4: spring training running the wheel play, and they did it
- 23:28Speaker 4: to perfection. So credit to them, you know, you could.
- 23:33Speaker 4: I'm a big believer too, and no offense to a
- 23:36Speaker 4: lot of pictures though, But if I'm bunting there, I'm
- 23:39Speaker 4: trying to put the ball in the hands of the
- 23:41Speaker 4: pitcher as opposed to a fielder. But bunning is not easy.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Bunning is one of the hardest things to do in baseball.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Like at some point you've got to just kind of
- 23:49Speaker 4: pat yourself on the back that you get a bunt down.
- 23:51Speaker 4: But just a really well done play by the Dodgers.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and yet Doc Roberts, the Dodgers manager, said they
- 24:00Speaker 1: really do it. Mookie called for it. That's a shortstop
- 24:04Speaker 1: captain ish kind of guy on the team, just making
- 24:06Speaker 1: the right call at the right time when they had
- 24:08Speaker 1: a little time to go over things. And the Dodgers
- 24:10Speaker 1: pull off a win just enough. I mean, yes, there
- 24:13Speaker 1: was trouble for trying in, but then he goes to
- 24:15Speaker 1: Bessie and then Doc, you know, pulls the ultimate wild
- 24:19Speaker 1: card in the postseason. So far, pitching wise, I don't
- 24:22Speaker 1: think anybody one month ago, not like six or three,
- 24:25Speaker 1: four months ago, whatever, I think one month ago, if
- 24:27Speaker 1: I told most people that Roki Sazaki is going to
- 24:30Speaker 1: be a nails closer for the Dodgers, you'd be like, huh, who,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I don't even remember him?
- 24:35Speaker 3: What happened to him?
- 24:35Speaker 4: How about this saying if he was gonna be on
- 24:37Speaker 4: the roster or not that would have already been a
- 24:39Speaker 4: little bit of a stretch.
- 24:42Speaker 3: You know.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Was he just going to you know, stay in triple A?
- 24:45Speaker 4: Was he going to be like one of those guys
- 24:47Speaker 4: that you know, go in that stay ready camp. But
- 24:50Speaker 4: now this guy's got back to back saves in playoff games.
- 24:54Speaker 4: It's it's crazy, It really is unbelievable. It's just you know,
- 24:58Speaker 4: some organizations just to you know, do things a little
- 25:02Speaker 4: bit better. Like, you know, maybe they maybe this was
- 25:05Speaker 4: always a contingency plan that they saw on this guy,
- 25:07Speaker 4: that we're going to give hi an opportunity to start
- 25:09Speaker 4: because you know, or maybe that was the way they
- 25:12Speaker 4: felt like they could get him in the doors, like yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 4: we'll allow you to start. And ultimately it didn't go
- 25:17Speaker 4: so well. He had to go, you know, through some
- 25:19Speaker 4: injuries kind of build himself back up. But maybe ultimately
- 25:22Speaker 4: they knew all along this guy was going to be
- 25:24Speaker 4: in the lead closer.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Kratz, question for you about the star power for the Phillies,
- 25:29Speaker 1: because of course that's the number one issue right now,
- 25:33Speaker 1: and I understand that it's really good pitching coming at them.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Two for twenty one, four walks, eleven strikeouts, for Trey Turner,
- 25:39Speaker 1: Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, are they seeing any pitches
- 25:44Speaker 1: that they can do damage with or even just you
- 25:47Speaker 1: know move, you know, move themselves into a good position
- 25:51Speaker 1: to let somebody else do damage. Right, Like I'm looking
- 25:54Speaker 1: back for the Harper at bat where he had a
- 25:57Speaker 1: big strikeout, and I think there was one pitch that
- 26:01Speaker 1: was in the strike zone and there were no fastballs,
- 26:03Speaker 1: and it was just really nicely executed on the pitching side.
- 26:06Speaker 1: But like, you know, give me the Harper perspective here
- 26:09Speaker 1: does he need to and he's got a great eye
- 26:11Speaker 1: spit at those pitches and just passed the baton. What
- 26:14Speaker 1: are you see in here?
- 26:15Speaker 2: I mean against Blake Snell, I don't I don't feel
- 26:17Speaker 2: like he chased out of the zone too bad. I
- 26:19Speaker 2: think he chased one pitch out of his own. But
- 26:21Speaker 2: strike three was yeah, his swinging Strike three was a
- 26:25Speaker 2: slider that even when they slowed it down. If you've
- 26:28Speaker 2: never faced Blake Snell, or you've never caught Blake Snell,
- 26:33Speaker 2: it is almost impossible to see that pitch. Because Harper
- 26:35Speaker 2: does Harper does what Harper does in the playoffs. He
- 26:39Speaker 2: does an incredible job of staying on pitches, and I'm like,
- 26:43Speaker 2: I don't think he's he's not seeing that slider because
- 26:46Speaker 2: he everybody remember what he did to Robert Suarez that
- 26:51Speaker 2: opposite field Homer that created bedlam at the bank, Like
- 26:55Speaker 2: that's how you hit that slider, and he's trying to
- 26:58Speaker 2: do that and he still couldn't do it. Maybe maybe
- 27:02Speaker 2: this is my homerism. Maybe I need to go back
- 27:04Speaker 2: and watch.
- 27:05Speaker 3: More of this.
- 27:06Speaker 2: But I really feel like, besides the fastball in that
- 27:12Speaker 2: Schwarber missed, I forget, I think I forget who was pitching,
- 27:17Speaker 2: but it was a fastball in that he foul tipped,
- 27:20Speaker 2: I don't feel like guys were really like they were
- 27:23Speaker 2: giving them any chances to hit anything to do damage with.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Like it wasn't like ooh, we had that one. They
- 27:30Speaker 2: all look late confused and like searching for what is
- 27:35Speaker 2: the next pitch.
- 27:37Speaker 1: That was eighth inning, by the way, with she and
- 27:40Speaker 1: against Schwarber, and that was ninety eight tipped into the
- 27:43Speaker 1: glove to get him. That was when we had the
- 27:46Speaker 1: long ish delay with the PitchCom I don't know if
- 27:48Speaker 1: I believe that it wasn't working, but whatever, and Schwerberg's
- 27:51Speaker 1: just waiting, and then eventually they got him.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I thought they were going to go I thought they
- 27:56Speaker 2: were gonna go to Vessia. I thought it was going
- 27:59Speaker 2: to be some kind of conspiracy thing there, Like I thought, oh, hey.
- 28:04Speaker 3: You know, we're gonna come out here.
- 28:05Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about it PitchCom, because we want Vessia
- 28:09Speaker 2: to face to face Harper. You got Schwarber clearly, but
- 28:15Speaker 2: we're gonna have Vessia face Harper. And it was like
- 28:18Speaker 2: delay delay, and then you saw the bullpen and Vessia,
- 28:21Speaker 2: who's always looks like he's beamed up, he's just throwing, throwing, throwing,
- 28:25Speaker 2: and then they left him in there, left him in there,
- 28:28Speaker 2: didn't didn't take him out. So I think the PitchCom
- 28:30Speaker 2: actually didn't work. And we're coming out with a new
- 28:33Speaker 2: foul territory, pitch Com, and it's gonna solve all PitchCom problems.
- 28:40Speaker 4: I'll take for you right now. I think we can
- 28:43Speaker 4: make an argument that the Phillies lineup one to nine
- 28:47Speaker 4: is much better than the Blue Jays lineup in Brewer's lineup?
- 28:52Speaker 4: Would you agree? Through more talented, more dangerous. I do believe.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I do believe it.
- 28:59Speaker 4: I'm not there is just a hot take. I'm not
- 29:01Speaker 4: in that. I've never been in that clubhouse with Philly,
- 29:04Speaker 4: but I've had the conversations with the Blue Jays, and
- 29:07Speaker 4: you were obviously with the Milwaukee Brewers. I think those
- 29:10Speaker 4: teams have a much better collective approach where I feel
- 29:15Speaker 4: like the Phillies are so much more reliant on individual
- 29:19Speaker 4: talent that they feel like at some point just the
- 29:22Speaker 4: talent is gonna take over, and they're good enough to
- 29:25Speaker 4: not really like have this past the baton mentality, or hey,
- 29:29Speaker 4: we're gonna eliminate this pitch, We're gonna wear them out.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Because these two teams that you know, don't hit a
- 29:37Speaker 4: ton of home runs that aren't filled one through nine
- 29:40Speaker 4: with you know, high octane offensive players are going out
- 29:44Speaker 4: and scoring a ton of runs. So I think there's
- 29:47Speaker 4: also this way that you play in the regular season
- 29:50Speaker 4: that definitely changes when you get into the postseason. I
- 29:53Speaker 4: think those two teams have an advantage right now because
- 29:56Speaker 4: I think they've been playing postseason baseball for the entirety
- 29:59Speaker 4: of this.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Yeah, is it that KP coupled with some guys that
- 30:07Speaker 1: clearly are getting game planned and it's working right? I mean,
- 30:11Speaker 1: we can say oh, they're running into maybe the best
- 30:14Speaker 1: team in baseball, and the Dodgers should have been a
- 30:17Speaker 1: you know, a buy team, right and not been facing
- 30:20Speaker 1: the Phillies in this spot. Whatever you can try and
- 30:22Speaker 1: make excuses, you're gonna have to run through a team
- 30:24Speaker 1: like this either way. And it's been some disappointing seasons
- 30:27Speaker 1: for a Philly team.
- 30:28Speaker 3: That you're right.
- 30:28Speaker 1: You look at on paper and you're like, this team
- 30:30Speaker 1: should be better, but look at the numbers the last
- 30:32Speaker 1: couple of postseasons for Trey Turner, Kyle Schwarber. I mean,
- 30:35Speaker 1: they're they're bad, and clearly pitchers have a game plan
- 30:38Speaker 1: and it's working, right, yeah, I mean work in the
- 30:41Speaker 1: regular but it's working in the playoffs.
- 30:43Speaker 4: You can't put all the blame on the Phillies hitters,
- 30:46Speaker 4: and you know their approach and their hitting coach and
- 30:48Speaker 4: whatever it is. You know, sometimes you just got to
- 30:51Speaker 4: give credit where credits due, and like Crouds knows, like
- 30:55Speaker 4: you're going to go into every individual game with game
- 30:58Speaker 4: plans of how to get guys out, but that obviously
- 31:01Speaker 4: is magnified so much more in the playoffs. You're always
- 31:05Speaker 4: pitching to guys' weaknesses. It's just a matter if your
- 31:07Speaker 4: pitchers can execute it. And it just seems like at
- 31:09Speaker 4: this point the Dodgers have been able to execute their
- 31:13Speaker 4: game plan against the middle of the order, or actually
- 31:16Speaker 4: the entirety of the order of the Phillies, and sometimes,
- 31:19Speaker 4: like I said, it's not so much about you know
- 31:21Speaker 4: what we are doing, and sometimes you just have to
- 31:24Speaker 4: keep your cap and just say, like they've just been
- 31:26Speaker 4: better than us, and you hope in game three, whoever,
- 31:30Speaker 4: I don't know who's due to start in Game three
- 31:32Speaker 4: for the Dodgers, but you just hope that there's just
- 31:34Speaker 4: a couple more mistakes where these guys could capitalize on.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Dude yama Moto Game three coming up against Aaron Nola,
- 31:41Speaker 1: who looked better lately, but he's had a really rough
- 31:44Speaker 1: season and Ranger Suarez is going to back him up.
- 31:46Speaker 1: So things definitely do not look promising when it's Yamamoto
- 31:49Speaker 1: game three. This is the gauntlet they have to go
- 31:51Speaker 1: through right now, Kratz, And you tell me if there's
- 31:53Speaker 1: any freaking sliver of a chance for them, they have
- 31:56Speaker 1: to go through yama Moto. Then they have to take
- 31:59Speaker 1: down Tyler Glass now, and then they will face show
- 32:02Speaker 1: Hey Otani in game five, and I get I mean,
- 32:04Speaker 1: if you get to a game five against Otani and
- 32:07Speaker 1: you've got your big boy in Sanchez back on the mound,
- 32:09Speaker 1: sure you've got a chance. But do you think they
- 32:11Speaker 1: can take them down in three in a row.
- 32:14Speaker 2: I think they can because those guys haven't been hot.
- 32:19Speaker 3: You can't.
- 32:19Speaker 2: You can never tell me, and I guess I'll be
- 32:23Speaker 2: I guess I'll be wrong if it just continues this
- 32:25Speaker 2: way for the rest of history. But there's not a playoff.
- 32:32Speaker 2: A player doesn't become worse than the playoff playoffs, you
- 32:35Speaker 2: don't turn into a pumpkin. To me, you're gonna have
- 32:38Speaker 2: to regress back to what they do. Kyle Schwarber has
- 32:42Speaker 2: had some massive home runs in the playoffs. He can
- 32:45Speaker 2: carry a team for a three to seven game stretch.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Bryce Harper has been I mean, I think he still
- 32:53Speaker 2: has over a thousand.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Ops in the playoffs. He can get hot. Is is it?
- 33:01Speaker 2: Are they up against it right now? Absolutely, they're up
- 33:03Speaker 2: against it, But this lineup has the ability.
- 33:07Speaker 3: To do it.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Look, Nick Costianis was one of their best hitters. He
- 33:11Speaker 2: had a massive hit tonight. When you have veterans in
- 33:14Speaker 2: there and your back's against the wall, there's not a panic.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Maybe now that's the little spark that they need. Maybe
- 33:22Speaker 2: that maybe Shover finds something in the off day, swinging
- 33:26Speaker 2: off of the breaking ball machine, maybe they get you know,
- 33:29Speaker 2: it's they have the guys to do it. Do they
- 33:32Speaker 2: have a sliver of hope. I think it's more than
- 33:33Speaker 2: a sliver of hope. Do they have to change what
- 33:36Speaker 2: they've been doing? Yeah, somebody has to step up and
- 33:39Speaker 2: get a big hit.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's tough to see it for me, KP. With
- 33:43Speaker 1: the way that the Dodgers have this pitching rolling right now,
- 33:46Speaker 1: the offense is in a pretty good spot against a
- 33:48Speaker 1: really good Philadelphia pitching staff. By the way, I mean,
- 33:51Speaker 1: Christopher Sanchez is going to finish second in NLSI Young
- 33:55Speaker 1: Jesus Lozzardo for most of the game put on a
- 33:58Speaker 1: show tonight. But even for the I mean they're not
- 34:01Speaker 1: perfect defensively to asker Hernandez's rollercoaster ride, but I want
- 34:04Speaker 1: to make sure the finish line here we shout out
- 34:06Speaker 1: Freddie Freeman made a sick pick. Otherwise that games still rolling.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean to cross his points. I definitely like
- 34:15Speaker 4: the Phillies' chances a lot more than I like the
- 34:17Speaker 4: Cubs chances because he said, these guys don't these guys
- 34:22Speaker 4: don't turn into pumpkins in the playoffs, like if this
- 34:25Speaker 4: was their first time going through the playoffs, because the
- 34:28Speaker 4: playoffs can be overwhelming, Like the moment gets bigger, the
- 34:31Speaker 4: anxiety goes through the roof. You know you're getting you're
- 34:36Speaker 4: not getting a chance to nesta league game plan against
- 34:39Speaker 4: a starter who's gonna go. You know you're gonna see
- 34:41Speaker 4: him a third time, maybe not even a second time.
- 34:43Speaker 4: But these guys have a track record of being very
- 34:46Speaker 4: successful hitters in the postseason. Like you mentioned, the Dodgers
- 34:50Speaker 4: pitching staff is just rolling right now. I think this
- 34:53Speaker 4: is nothing that we didn't expect to happen for the Dodgers.
- 34:56Speaker 4: I think we knew inevitably if everyone's healthy once they
- 35:02Speaker 4: got into the postseason. This is kind of what you
- 35:04Speaker 4: expected to see from the Dodgers. But I wouldn't count
- 35:07Speaker 4: them out because of what krat said, Like they just
- 35:09Speaker 4: have too much talent and they have too many guys
- 35:12Speaker 4: that individually can just put a team on their back.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I whole hardly agree with that. I think the
- 35:18Speaker 1: Phillies do have a better chance. I just I don't
- 35:20Speaker 1: see it for either side. Yeah, I could see the
- 35:22Speaker 1: Phillies taking a game. Maybe they crack Yamamoto, But what
- 35:27Speaker 1: do you got?
- 35:28Speaker 2: And Scott, you said the Dodgers' offense is rolling. They've
- 35:32Speaker 2: scored him two innings for a Dodgers offense, that is awesome.
- 35:38Speaker 2: The Phillies starting rotation and pretty much eight of the
- 35:43Speaker 2: nine innings they have I don't feel like the Dodgers
- 35:46Speaker 2: offense is like rolling, rolling, But the Dodgers have done
- 35:49Speaker 2: the same thing. They kind of struggled sometimes against starters,
- 35:52Speaker 2: same thing as the Phillies, and then the bullpen comes
- 35:55Speaker 2: in and there's a guy they're like, no, no, yes,
- 35:59Speaker 2: we got something than on him, Yes we see him. Well,
- 36:03Speaker 2: yes this is our guy. And both both games they
- 36:07Speaker 2: scored all their runs in the seventh inning, nine runs
- 36:09Speaker 2: in the seventh.
- 36:10Speaker 4: You said the quiet thing out loud. I was, That's
- 36:12Speaker 4: what I was thinking. I was hearing that, Like, both
- 36:15Speaker 4: these teams typically have trouble hitting, starting pitching, but there's
- 36:18Speaker 4: guys in the bullpen they get to. Does that make
- 36:21Speaker 4: you believe that they may have things on the bullpen
- 36:25Speaker 4: guys that they can't get on starters.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Maybe maybe or or they're able to eliminate pitches. They're
- 36:32Speaker 2: able to eliminate pitches. I mean that to me, that's
- 36:34Speaker 2: that's better than any tell Like if you're like this
- 36:36Speaker 2: guy is a two pitch guy. He never throws his
- 36:39Speaker 2: breaking ball for a strike or anything in. I think
- 36:43Speaker 2: the Dodgers do a great job of eliminating zones. Starting
- 36:46Speaker 2: pitchers are good at all four quadrants. When a Matt
- 36:50Speaker 2: Strom comes in, he's probably only going to run that
- 36:54Speaker 2: slider in off. Say guys, hey, when that slider, when
- 36:58Speaker 2: anything starts in, we're taking it down. And this is
- 37:01Speaker 2: what KP's talking about. Good team at bats. You you
- 37:05Speaker 2: strike out looking at a fastball in against Strom, if
- 37:08Speaker 2: that's their game plan, and you know what, we tip
- 37:11Speaker 2: our cap. We move on and then when he makes
- 37:14Speaker 2: a mistake, anything out over, we're smashing it. We're on
- 37:17Speaker 2: time for it, whatever it is.
- 37:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's a fair point. Typically starters have
- 37:22Speaker 4: a much you know, bigger arsenal pitches be able to
- 37:25Speaker 4: use the entirety of the plate. And when you do
- 37:28Speaker 4: get to those bullpen guys, even if they have a
- 37:30Speaker 4: third pitch, like you are gonna eliminate one, you're gonna
- 37:32Speaker 4: turn them into two pitch guy, but ultimately you're going
- 37:35Speaker 4: to turn him to a one side of the plate guy.
- 37:37Speaker 4: So I think there's some truth to that, more so
- 37:40Speaker 4: than getting into this kind of going down this rabbit
- 37:43Speaker 4: hole of always thinking that you know, a pitcher gives
- 37:46Speaker 4: up runs or you know, gives up a home run,
- 37:49Speaker 4: he's tipping. I think it could come down to this,
- 37:51Speaker 4: you know, game planning too.
- 37:54Speaker 1: And the buggaboo for the Dodgers still is there. I mean,
- 37:56Speaker 1: they're traditional relievers right now, are not in a good spot.
- 37:58Speaker 1: This is nothing like what they imagined. They thought, you know,
- 38:01Speaker 1: Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott and trying in right and
- 38:04Speaker 1: tryning was the problem child in this particular game. I mean,
- 38:07Speaker 1: the highlights for them are Glass Night out of the bullpen.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Shean in this game, out of the bullpen, former start
- 38:13Speaker 1: rookie Sazaki. I mean, they're throwing starters out of the
- 38:15Speaker 1: bullpen to try and win games, and that has worked
- 38:18Speaker 1: for some teams in the past, so I'll give them credit.
- 38:20Speaker 1: And then last shout out for me, of course, Doc Roberts,
- 38:22Speaker 1: who's super super battle tested, gets to push the Will
- 38:25Speaker 1: Smith button in the seventh inning where he would never
- 38:28Speaker 1: be up in that spot, and you have, like, what
- 38:30Speaker 1: a top three hitting catcher in baseball who gets to
- 38:33Speaker 1: step in with the first pitch, line drive, two run
- 38:35Speaker 1: single and that made it three to nothing. So prohaps
- 38:38Speaker 1: to this team. They've got a lot of talent. They're
- 38:39Speaker 1: in a really good spot. If you've got thoughts on
- 38:42Speaker 1: this series, then drop them in the comments let us know.
- 38:45Speaker 1: We'll talk about it more on foul Territory throughout the week.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Thank you so much for watching, and we have ft
- 38:51Speaker 1: still every day one o'clock Eastern time. We have plenty
- 38:53Speaker 1: of postgame shows that we'll do. We'll get KP on
- 38:56Speaker 1: something Blue Jays related or you can catch them on
- 38:58Speaker 1: Blue Jays coverage too. We did a little interview with
- 39:01Speaker 1: him earlier on fal Terra Turn Monday, so check that out.
- 39:04Speaker 3: KP.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us for this a little late night.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I must prefer the earlier slot. This is a
- 39:10Speaker 4: little tough on me, but you know what, it was
- 39:13Speaker 4: worse standing up to see you know, Crafts of Sleepy
- 39:16Speaker 4: Eyes too.
- 39:17Speaker 1: You did it, You did it, KP. It's a good
- 39:19Speaker 1: rite of passage here. Just for the playoffs and Krafts,
- 39:21Speaker 1: your legend will see it in a little bit. Thanks everyone,
- 39:24Speaker 1: we'll see it soon.
