Latest / The imuRgency Room / Toxic Masculinity Has Ruined This Generation

- 0:00Dear diary, today I took a good long think into my role as a
- 0:03straight man and the patriarchy and how I can and oftentimes do
- 0:07make women unsafe and put them in unsafe positions and how
- 0:10these behaviors then go on to isolate me from the people I'm
- 0:13trying to connect with and make me an undesirable weirdo.
- 0:16Nah, scratch that, we'll just ain't.
- 0:19Hey guys, it's up to emergency and welcome, welcome back to my
- 0:21channel. That was just a skit.
- 0:22If you are new here and do not know who I am.
- 0:27Today's topic is going to be a little more serious just because
- 0:29of the nature of the people and themes that we're referencing.
- 0:33And I apologize in advance for the speaking and code that I'm
- 0:36going to have to do to keep this video up and not stricken down.
- 0:39Today we're talking about DV, toxic masculinity and how it's
- 0:42been playing out both in the celebrity mainstage as well as
- 0:45what it means to continuously platform men that embody these
- 0:49things and how the influence and effects of these behaviors go on
- 0:52to impact everyone else. Because of the nature of this
- 0:55conversation, I did want to provide some resources for
- 0:57anyone that is actually experiencing or know someone
- 1:00that is experiencing DV. So resources for that will be
- 1:03LinkedIn the description below. But let's get into it.
- 1:05What are we talking about? Well, over the past couple of
- 1:07months, a lot of things have been coming out about we're very
- 1:09prominent celebrity and influencer couples that had seen
- 1:11to be fine or at most a little toxic devolve into something
- 1:15much, much darker and much, much worse.
- 1:17And at least outwardly, there seems to be this trend of very
- 1:20successful women being done in the absolute worst ways by their
- 1:24ex partners, fiance's, and most notably baby daddies.
- 1:28And normally, I wouldn't talk about things that have to do
- 1:30with things like celebrity drama.
- 1:32But I feel like the occurrence of this happening so often
- 1:35back-to-back to back-to-back, as well as the public's response to
- 1:37this information coming out is very telling and very concerning
- 1:41and something that I feel like we can have a deeper
- 1:42conversation about because it's not really about these people
- 1:45specifically. I mean, it is.
- 1:46I hope all the people that we're talking about today are able to
- 1:49get the help that they need and move on and move through to
- 1:51better. But more so to do with the
- 1:52elephant in the room that is toxic masculinity, jealousy,
- 1:55manipulation and the likes that we see so many times in everyday
- 1:58relationships. But they're just being
- 2:00exemplified in the media by these celebrities because, well,
- 2:03I don't think that we should look to celebrities as are like
- 2:05moral compass for everything. I do think that it's important
- 2:07to keep an eye on the things that we let slide or the
- 2:10narratives that we let slide and thus begin to normalize in our
- 2:14everyday lives as everyday people.
- 2:15Because as we know, things like conservatism, blatantly outward
- 2:18racism and misogyny are on the rise.
- 2:20And it's important that we call these things up what they are
- 2:22and don't allow them to just become the norm.
- 2:25Because no, now the first situation to talk about that
- 2:27kind of set this whole video in motion for me at least.
- 2:31What's the situation between streamer DDG and music artist
- 2:34and actress Halle Bailey? Yes, The Little Mermaid.
- 2:37So as a quick summary, so we're all on the same page, DDG and
- 2:39Halle began publicly dating back in January 2022 where they were
- 2:42scene together at an Usher show back when Usher was doing that
- 2:45residency. That ironically sparked another
- 2:47situation very similar to this. But throughout the entire
- 2:49relationship, at least publicly, there have been a lot of lore
- 2:52and just a lot of on and offness between the two.
- 2:54With one notable moment that stands out being when Dodge
- 2:57released a song called Famous that criticized Hallie during
- 3:01her press tour of The Little Mermaid, the biggest movie of
- 3:04her career that she spent years of her life working on.
- 3:07And if you want a little taste of like what was said, some of
- 3:09the lyrics include filming a movie.
- 3:11Now you kissing on dudes, you know I love you a lot.
- 3:13I don't give AF if that S for promo.
- 3:15I don't want to see this S no more.
- 3:17Why y'all holding hands in the photo?
- 3:19You know I'm insecure. That's a no no.
- 3:21Which I mean, self-awareness is the first step.
- 3:24Then in January 2024, Halle and DDG announced the birth of their
- 3:27son, Halo, and from there, there had been some speculation that
- 3:30the two had split, with a Rep announcing that they hadn't in a
- 3:32statement. And it wasn't until October of
- 3:342020 Fourth and the pair officially confirmed their
- 3:36separation in a mutually respecting statement with DDGS
- 3:39Instagram story statement stating that after much
- 3:41reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have
- 3:44decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but
- 3:47we believe it's the best path forward for both of us.
- 3:49I cherish the time that we spent together and the love that we've
- 3:52shared. Despite the changes in our
- 3:53relationship, our love for each other remains deep been true.
- 3:56We are still best friends and adore each other.
- 3:58As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as Co
- 4:01parents. We cherish the bond that we've
- 4:02built in beautiful ones we've shared.
- 4:04As we navigate this transition, we ask for your understanding
- 4:06and support. Thank you for your love and
- 4:08encouragement. Which is a very well worded
- 4:10statement and will lead you to believe that this story was over
- 4:12and tied nicely with the bow. But if you've been giving up
- 4:14over the past couple of months, you know that the story does not
- 4:16actually end there. And actually, that statement
- 4:19couldn't be further from the actual truth.
- 4:20In March of 2025, DDG began taking his custody issues over
- 4:24his kid to social media with him claiming that he doesn't like to
- 4:27put his business on social media.
- 4:29Telling his viewers on March 8th that he just wants to see his
- 4:32son and that's it and saying that he wants to be a dad.
- 4:35Just plain and simple. Implying that he has not seen
- 4:37his son in a while and he's not able to see his son.
- 4:40Which created a lot of controversy and a lot of anti
- 4:42Halle sentiments online with people saying things like oh
- 4:45she's keeping his son from him and running all these
- 4:48narratives. But all will be revealed in May
- 4:50when Halle Bailey was granted A restraining order against DDG,
- 4:53which included and revealed allegations of multiple acts of
- 4:56violence, stating that DDG had been physically, verbally,
- 5:00emotionally and financially towards her throughout and after
- 5:05their relationship in a specific incident detailed in the
- 5:07documents. That really unfortunately has
- 5:09become a large part of this whole discourse.
- 5:11And the fact that this is a discourse at all is wild and not
- 5:15just judgement towards DDG because, you know, this was like
- 5:17the court case and it's really hard to file or shedding order
- 5:20and get it approved unless you actually have like some
- 5:22substantial evidence going. But you know, you need to hear
- 5:24an R there. This specific incident occurred
- 5:26in January where Haley claims that she was strapping Halo into
- 5:29his car seat while DDG was repeatedly insulting her with
- 5:32her stating that we then fought each other wrestling and tesling
- 5:36and at one point Daryl DDG was pulling my hair.
- 5:39He then slammed my face on the steering wheel causing my tooth
- 5:42to get chipped and I then stopped fighting back as I was
- 5:44in a lot of pain. And actually as a result of
- 5:46this, some news outlets actually did go ahead and post some of
- 5:49the pictures from the case files, which kind of feels like
- 5:51an invasion of privacy, which honestly can be a whole separate
- 5:54discussion. Like why do people we need those
- 5:56photos to even shred up a crumb of empathy?
- 5:59We will never know. And on the other side, why would
- 6:01we let the court of public opinion sway things so much?
- 6:03It means so much more than actual physical evidence.
- 6:06I don't know. Other instances that were also
- 6:08just as harmful included in the claim include allegedly berating
- 6:11her and smashing her Ring camera once he realized that he was
- 6:13being recorded, him entering her home when she wasn't there to
- 6:16photograph her bed, and accused her of sleeping with other men
- 6:19and slamming a car door on her when she was holding her son.
- 6:22Another request was for DDG to stop using social media to
- 6:24badmouth her. These millions of followers
- 6:26stating that he claims I am withholding our son and that I
- 6:29am with other men. As a result, I then receive
- 6:31threats and hate on social media.
- 6:33And in response to all this, in June 2025, DDG filed an
- 6:36emergency motion requesting the court to block Hallie Bailey
- 6:39from traveling internationally with her son, claiming that she
- 6:42was an emotional and physical risk and requested sole custody.
- 6:45With the evidence of this being a series of texts that he
- 6:48claimed to be alarming. And as a result, that motion was
- 6:52swiftly denied. And if you actually seen the
- 6:53text, they read as a crash out of someone who has been pushed
- 6:57to and over the edge, like someone who has been deeply
- 6:59emotionally hurt, which is pretty in line for her
- 7:02accusations of being physically and emotionally.
- 7:06And the thing about all this is that it is still actively
- 7:08happening in real time. As of June 24th, they're
- 7:10competing. Permanent restraining orders
- 7:12will be reviewed. I think 1 component of this
- 7:14that's really interesting is the fact that is that that last
- 7:17point in request made by Hallie. Hallie makes so much sense
- 7:20considering the fact that DDG has been a long time YouTube and
- 7:24streamer, and he himself claims to know the impact of social
- 7:28media and how to manipulate a narrative to create and control
- 7:31Internet beef. How to win Internet beef?
- 7:34The best thing you can do is crack their this they homies.
- 7:40This can be family members, friends doesn't matter.
- 7:44Diss their homies that is the main thing you have to do.
- 7:47No Internet beef have ever resorted in to anybody.
- 7:50And unfortunately, when it comes to situations like this,
- 7:54reducing very serious things like DV, like any form of abuse
- 7:58to an Internet beef is incredibly harmful, dangerous,
- 8:01and insensitive to people that are.
- 8:03We're actually on the receiving end of all that.
- 8:05Because when you think about things like Internet beefs, the
- 8:07resolution for an Internet beef is to either get over it or to
- 8:09be cancelled when the real life resolution for allegations as
- 8:12serious as these in the real world is time in prison.
- 8:15So by minimizing the levity of the issue, we're not only
- 8:18minimizing the repercussions of this, but also making the actual
- 8:22response to this when if and when there is any alleged
- 8:24response to this legally seem over over the top and
- 8:28dramaticize. And like how he is doing too
- 8:30much despite the actual court process going down in the court
- 8:35of law and not the court of public opinion.
- 8:36Because right now Haley is receiving threats and hate for
- 8:38assumptions and ideas of her that either DDG or his fans have
- 8:43been putting out, which is actually the craziest work.
- 8:45And again, I have to say the courts have granted Haley this
- 8:48restraining order, deeming the evidence damning enough to
- 8:51warrant the restraining order. Yet she's the one experiencing a
- 8:53lot of the public repercussion. Which really makes you wonder,
- 8:56why do men and the Internet just hate women?
- 8:58And that's just one example. Then you have things like the
- 9:00Tory lanes and Megan the Scion drama where you have example of
- 9:03woman being harmed by man, the courts supporting the fact that
- 9:06woman was harmed by man, yet the public claiming that the woman
- 9:10is lying and crazy and making things up and out to get the
- 9:13black man when that's not necessarily the case of what's
- 9:17going on here. And if you've been anywhere
- 9:18online, you've most definitely heard of this go down.
- 9:21But just as a summary for those that happened in 2020, Tory Lane
- 9:24Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after a party at Kylie Jenner's.
- 9:27And in the original police statement, she said that she cut
- 9:29her foot with glass. And this is kind of where the
- 9:32Internet court of opinion makes her out to seem like a liar that
- 9:35she was changing her story. But she has explained an article
- 9:39is why she did that. It stated in the motor article
- 9:41that in her video, Megan admitted that she did not tell
- 9:43the cops what happened, explaining she thought that the
- 9:45LAPD was aggressive while recognizing that she should have
- 9:47been upfront immediately. I didn't get cut by no glass.
- 9:50But let me tell you why they're saying that when the police
- 9:52came, they came because the neighbors called the police.
- 9:54The police come. I'm scared all this S going on
- 9:57with the police. I didn't want to D word.
- 9:59I didn't want the police to shoot me in case there was a N
- 10:02word with a in the car with me. Essentially implying that
- 10:05despite what the court of public opinion is saying about how
- 10:07Megan and the courts are out to get a Black man, Megan actively
- 10:10in that situation was trying to protect Tori.
- 10:12Because, mind you, this was 2020, during the height of the
- 10:16Black Lives Matter movement with increasingly heightened tensions
- 10:18between Black people and the police.
- 10:20And her being aware of that and being aware enough of like, what
- 10:23this would look like and what could possibly happen to her and
- 10:26to Tori. Has she said that?
- 10:27Yeah, there's a black guy with a gun in the car who just shot me
- 10:30like, you know, like, think. And despite Tori being found
- 10:32guilty, she continuously has to deal with the repercussions of
- 10:35this as if she did something wrong herself.
- 10:37Because in the court of the public opinion, AKA the court of
- 10:40Mostly Men, Megan is claiming to be everything but a child of the
- 10:42God. Like the jokes that are made at
- 10:44her expense at live appearances and online to the rappers who
- 10:48used to be her friends and peers supporting Lanes publicly to
- 10:51this day. People like Drake, the baby,
- 10:53Chris Brown, etcetera, etcetera. Like every situation in which
- 10:56Megan is in, despite her being a victim of that specific
- 10:59situation, she's treated as the villain, the perpetrator, and
- 11:02the one at fault for this. While Tory being guilty in the
- 11:06court of law, in the court of public opinion has done nothing
- 11:09wrong. Are we seeing a trend here?
- 11:10And the Tory and Meg stuff comes up specifically because recently
- 11:14Tory did get odd 14 times in prison for more people to come
- 11:17forward in his fence to free him.
- 11:19You people like Amber Rose, like Republican senators, Republican
- 11:22representatives, Kanye and Drake all coming together to like
- 11:25rally for this man to be freed. Which is interesting because
- 11:28when we think of intersectionality, it's very
- 11:30strange to have MAGA and some male rappers come together at
- 11:33the expense of violence against a black woman.
- 11:35And we'll get more into that when we talk about how all of
- 11:37this kind of relates to the alt right pipeline a little later in
- 11:40the video. But they think, for one, this is
- 11:42a interesting and not in the fun way, but interesting comparison,
- 11:46especially when we see the role that media has and how this all
- 11:49plays out. Because the media that you can
- 11:51see really does have an impact on your perception of how things
- 11:53are and how things go down. And often times, as we've been
- 11:56seeing, these media sources can be at times very biased, either
- 11:59under reporting, over reporting, or just misreporting what's
- 12:02going on and what's important and what you should know.
- 12:04Which is why I'm so happy to partner with this video sponsor,

- 13:09Thank you so much Straight Arrow News for sponsoring the section
- 13:11of the video. Let's get back into it.
- 13:12OK, really quickly. Last case study example that we
- 13:15need to talk about is the recent happenings between Sky Jackson.
- 13:18Yes, Sky Jackson from Jesse and her baby daddy.
- 13:21You're Yerke. If you're not caught up with Sky
- 13:23Jackson's life, these next few words may sound very jarring to
- 13:26you. But Sky Jackson announced her
- 13:28pregnancy in November of 2024, whose identity was kept secret
- 13:31under wraps for a while. And from what we know of her in
- 13:34Yerke Yerke's relationship, it has always been tumultuous and
- 13:37in the public eye, with Sky being arrested for domestic
- 13:39battery at Universal Studios Hollywood, which those charges
- 13:42were later dropped as a misunderstanding.
- 13:44She's also filed for a restraining order against her
- 13:46child's father. And reports from that
- 13:48restraining order are actually really jarring.
- 13:50So if I haven't already, here's like click content warning
- 13:53because the topics here are a little triggering.
- 13:54So if you want to skip until after, here's the timestamp for
- 13:57that. But the report from the
- 13:58restraining order includes a six month period and I'm going to
- 14:00read this directly so I make sure that I don't misspeak on
- 14:03any of this. Again, read between the lines
- 14:05because I can't say all of these things for contact guideline
- 14:08reasons, but there was a six month period where you would
- 14:10consistently choke her or slap her head in a wall at least once
- 14:13a week. He also threatened to UN alive
- 14:14her or have her be gun alive multiple times on different
- 14:17occasions, even threatening her mother.
- 14:19And lastly threatened to release revenge corn, which is a lot.
- 14:23And my heart goes out to sky because that is traumatizing at
- 14:26the very least, especially considering that she was
- 14:28pregnant. Going through all of this like
- 14:29that is actually terrible and one of the comments online from
- 14:31this are not as hateful as the previous two examples.
- 14:34A lot of the comments do turn on Sky asking why she would be with
- 14:38them, how they even got together, how she allowed the
- 14:40relationship to continue, putting the onus of her on her.
- 14:43As if there weren't many reasons that we just went through why it
- 14:46would not be easy to leave a situation like that, especially
- 14:49one that is consistently threatening your life.
- 14:52So let's take a step back and look at all these situations
- 14:53from a macro scale. In each of these scenarios, we
- 14:55do have to ask, why are the women in these situations always
- 14:58persecuted for speaking up, taking legal action, or just
- 15:01doing something about people against them?
- 15:03As you can probably imagine, the comments in these types of
- 15:05posts, articles, videos, whatever would have you.
- 15:08I read it with things like, why didn't she leave earlier?
- 15:10She's lying, she's ruining her career, she's crazy.
- 15:13She knew what she was getting into.
- 15:15A lot of these projections that are put on women who are already
- 15:17in these situations, Like I'm sure if you scroll through some
- 15:19of the comments on this video, you're going to see something
- 15:21like that as well. Like really truly, why are
- 15:23general audiences, specifically men, often times men, so quick
- 15:27to side with a man who presents no evidence to deny a woman's
- 15:30claims, especially when she actually does have of evidence
- 15:33pointing to his guilt? And why isn't the first instinct
- 15:36to blame the abuser for the abuse and instead blame the
- 15:41abuse on the abuse? Like people may say like
- 15:43innocent until proven guilty, but when it comes to situations
- 15:46like this, the innocent are often presumed to be guilty 1st
- 15:49and have to earn their innocence in the court of public opinion.
- 15:51And even then, it's very unlikely that that ever actually
- 15:54happens. And it brings us to a larger
- 15:56conversation like we were talking about before.
- 15:57Like like, this isn't just about celebrities, I promise.
- 16:00But like if rich, famous, well known and well loved women can
- 16:04go through DB in real time and have the case be publicly
- 16:07followed and people still back the abuse, what message does
- 16:11that send to women and other victims who don't have a massive
- 16:14fan base, tons of expendable money to spend in court in
- 16:17abundance of other resources in their corner?
- 16:19And on the other side, what message is that sending to other
- 16:22abuse who also don't have those resources but are doing these
- 16:25things without the fear of having to deal with public
- 16:28scrutiny? Like just something to think
- 16:29about. According to the CDC, one in
- 16:31four women and one in seven men will experience physical
- 16:33violence by their intimate partner at some point during
- 16:35their lifetimes. About one in three women and
- 16:37nearly one in six men experience some form of schmexual violence
- 16:41during their lifetimes. Intimate partner violence,
- 16:43schmexual violence, and stalking are high, with intimate partner
- 16:46violence occurring in over 10 million people each year.
- 16:49And these reports are just from people who report it, which is
- 16:52only a fraction of the time it is actually experienced or
- 16:54occurs, meaning that it's a lot more commonplace than we may
- 16:57think. Now let's move on to this next
- 16:59section of the video that kind of addresses the conversation
- 17:03and potential title of this video.
- 17:04We're still working on it like why we continue to platform and
- 17:08allow these problematic and toxic forms of masculinity and
- 17:11men to proliferate in our society.
- 17:13And this specifically relates to we talk about this often the
- 17:16loneliness epidemic, but specifically the male loneliness
- 17:19epidemic. And while we see these toxic
- 17:21behaviors and the toxic forms of masculinity embraced, left
- 17:24unchecked and flourish in our society.
- 17:27And this is a little section like to call the 100 men versus
- 17:29accountability challenge. And the main point of this all
- 17:32is the concept of as men holding each other accountable versus
- 17:36just genuinely excusing behaviors.
- 17:38Because a lot of comments in support of these toxic manner or
- 17:41toxic ideologies are often either one, just straight up
- 17:43misogynistic or two, just make excuses for said behavior.
- 17:47Saying things like he must have had a reason to act this way
- 17:49because, you know, be crazy because somehow that excuses
- 17:53violence and abuse. And I think there is this real
- 17:55issue of like not showing up for each other and holding each
- 17:58other accountable for the stuff that is going on.
- 18:01Because if even you as a man does not believe in behaving
- 18:04that way, don't believe in toxic masculinity, and are actively on
- 18:07your journey to reestablish your terms and conditions with
- 18:11masculinity and what that means for you.
- 18:12Which I think all men should do because I think there are so
- 18:15many different ways to express your masculinity and to be a man
- 18:17and to do all that outside of the typical red pill like gym
- 18:21alpha misogynist bro way. You can't claim to be this
- 18:24righteous healed king example of healed masculinity if your
- 18:28friends are some of the most diabolical men on the planet and
- 18:30you just let them continue to be sub.
- 18:31Like it's OK to sometimes check your friends on some OK yeah
- 18:34that was weird or you shouldn't do that or interrogate people
- 18:37why they believe that way. And again, I'm saying this right
- 18:39now. I know I have a mostly female
- 18:41audience. The girls and gays are up over
- 18:43here. This is not for y'all.
- 18:44I'm not saying any of this should be for y'all because
- 18:47truly y'all have been through enough.
- 18:48I'm talking about men checking their male friends because you
- 18:51are the company you keep. And as men not showing up for
- 18:53each other in substantive ways, taking pride in that, having bad
- 18:57views on women and then being shocked when you inevitably end
- 19:00up friendless and with no romantic prospects should not be
- 19:03a foreign concept. Because like, yeah, if you are
- 19:05terrible to your dating pool and inseparable to your peers to be
- 19:09around, of course you're going to be lonely and not really have
- 19:12real connection with people. Like not wanting to disclose
- 19:15problematic beliefs. And it's gotten to the point
- 19:17where like, a lot of times, instead of actually doing the
- 19:19work and becoming a better person, a lot of men are
- 19:21choosing to not want to disclose their problematic beliefs out of
- 19:25fear of scaring women. Yeah, you being misogynistic is
- 19:27going to scare the house. I'm sorry, in our day and age,
- 19:30it's undeniable that politics can play a huge role in who you
- 19:33are as a person, your morals, your beliefs, the way you live
- 19:36your life. And I know that there are some
- 19:38people that are of the belief that you can have major
- 19:40political differences with your significant other, that it
- 19:43doesn't mean anything, that y'all know each other's hearts
- 19:45and you're still just people. But I think at the point that we
- 19:47are in society right now, being on completely different sides of
- 19:50the aisle means that you are supporting and believe in two
- 19:53completely different ways of life.
- 19:55And maybe this is just a shortcoming of myself and not
- 19:57being able to see how that could work, but it does not seem.
- 20:00Like, you can really make that work right now.
- 20:03Like, yeah, having some differences is completely fine.
- 20:05But like, when you have fundamental disconnects for what
- 20:08you value in human rights and human life, I don't know.
- 20:11Like, I understand wanting the traditional life, I guess.
- 20:14But if you think that women deserve to have less rights,
- 20:17then don't be surprised when no one wants to date you.
- 20:20Like, I don't know what to say. And I think we are at the very
- 20:23beginning stages of having men wake up and see this.
- 20:26And while I guess we're seeing some people change for the
- 20:28better and change their views and stances on things, we also
- 20:31are seeing a lot of men that instead of doing internal work
- 20:35reflecting and looking within as to why they believe that some
- 20:38groups deserve more restrictions, less rights,
- 20:41freedoms, etcetera, etcetera. They instead begin to lie or be
- 20:44vague about what their belief systems are or political
- 20:47ideologies to be that sort of wolf in sheep's clothing a lot
- 20:50hooking the woman, getting them to like you.
- 20:52And then while y'all are like months in soft launching the
- 20:55fact that revealing that you are a red pilled conservative man
- 20:57that voted for Trump to your very liberal girlfriend, right?
- 21:00And we know this happens, but we've been seeing this play out
- 21:03on the mainstage, AKA on reality dating shows.
- 21:06Like you're watching the current season of Love Island USA or saw
- 21:09the past season of Love is Blind.
- 21:11Essentially in the last season of Love Is Blind season 8, which
- 21:14took place in Minnesota. Mind you, so many of the men on
- 21:16that show skirted around their political beliefs, their
- 21:19affiliations, their ideologies, or just sat on the fence for a
- 21:22lot of it before they secured the actual marriage status
- 21:24because they knew that if they were honest and upfront about
- 21:26it, it would be a turn off for a lot of women.
- 21:28Again, not saying that all women really feel the same way,
- 21:31believe the same way, or care about all these things in the
- 21:33same way. But speaking specifically to the
- 21:35couple, Sarah and Ben, Sarah specifically said that it
- 21:38mattered to her to have a partner that cared about things
- 21:40like BLM and LGBTQIA plus rights.
- 21:43And Ben gave a less than careful answer as he assured her that he
- 21:47would learn more for her and that he didn't know much about
- 21:50it despite being from Minnesota where everything with George
- 21:53Floyd happened and a lot of the major protests happened.
- 21:57And of course, spoilers for the rest of the season if you're
- 21:59ever planning on watching all this blind season 8 at this
- 22:01point. Eventually she brought these
- 22:02things up later in the relationship and the guy just
- 22:04seemed really unengaged with her politics and her beliefs.
- 22:08And she ultimately decided that she couldn't marry someone with
- 22:10vastly different political beliefs like that.
- 22:13And there are other examples of couples in that season that
- 22:15could not get married because of the difference in political
- 22:17views that weren't expressed outright.
- 22:19With like Devin and Virginia having the man be very sketchy
- 22:21about his politics and not very clear about where he stood and
- 22:25kind of uninterested when it comes to things like abortion
- 22:27rights. To the point where like Virginia
- 22:29had to make it clear through reunion that I will be very
- 22:31clear about my views. IA 100% support the LGBTQ
- 22:34community. I also believe that women should
- 22:36have the decision to choose if they want to have an abortion or
- 22:38not. I also believe that different
- 22:39religion should be valued. Then you have examples from like
- 22:41this recent season of Love is Blind that's airing right now.
- 22:44People like Austin who had cut a lot of Flack for being a alleged
- 22:48Trump supporter and otherwise kind of a Republican guy going
- 22:51for girls and being in relationships with girls that
- 22:53out of the villa would likely not support or date him because
- 22:57of his views. And I think while he's been in
- 22:59the villa, whoever is running his account has been removing
- 23:01some of his TikTok likes and reposts because people of TikTok
- 23:04have been finding a lot of his reposts and likes to be kind of
- 23:07problematic and reposting things that are a little like, it's
- 23:10just kind of dishonest and manipulative.
- 23:11Like, you know, the beliefs that you have are unappealing to the
- 23:15women that you want to date. So you're not going to tell them
- 23:17that you have these beliefs until you have them.
- 23:19And then there's a whole other topic about how often times when
- 23:22it comes to things like controversy online, either
- 23:24online or offline, really when it comes down to abusers or men
- 23:29that have done wrong, a strategy that is often used is using
- 23:33women as PR for men's terrible behaviors.
- 23:36And there are examples of this. You have examples like streamer
- 23:39cooking with Kaya who came on streamer to defend DDG against
- 23:42the news of the restraining order against Hallie with her
- 23:45saying things like DDG has always been good to me and he's
- 23:48really genuine but. DD is actually a genuine nice
- 23:51person. Like to do like some kind of
- 23:53character repair or PR in the court of public opinion.
- 23:56Like going live to say that a man, it was a very public DV
- 24:00case with proof, evidence and a filed restraining order coming
- 24:03from the mother of his child. To then go on and say that he's
- 24:06been good to you personally and helps you out personally with
- 24:09your career is a choice. And also this is the guy that
- 24:12y'all are defending. Like it just gets to the point
- 24:14where you have to turn off the stream and log off.
- 24:16I never had a problem with cooking with Kaya and I'm also
- 24:18not shocked that she's like standing up and defending DDG
- 24:22right now. Like why are y'all shocked that
- 24:24somebody who's built their platform off the backs of being
- 24:27a pygmy to is going to be a pygmy to it?
- 24:30So I'm not mad at her. I don't feel no ways about her.
- 24:33I just feel bad for her because to keep this platform that she
- 24:36built, she has to continue to be this person.
- 24:38She has to continue to pander to.
- 24:40She has to continue to be this hypersexualized version of
- 24:43herself or else her platform will come crumbling down because
- 24:46it's not built on the back of people actually liking her.
- 24:49It's built on the backs of them liking, if you know what I mean.
- 24:53I feel bad for any woman who finds themselves in this red
- 24:56pill manosphere and like builds their platform off this like red
- 25:00pill and sell fan base because there will become a day when
- 25:04they definitely remind her that she is a black woman.
- 25:06Who's she going to fall back on? She's not going to have anybody
- 25:09to fall back on. She's not going to have anybody
- 25:10to catch her because her entire platform, her entire fan base
- 25:14will turn on her in the drop of a hat.
- 25:16And honestly, this creator makes a great point about the fallacy
- 25:19of the pic me in a sense that the pic me could never really be
- 25:221 the boys. Because inevitably when the girl
- 25:24does something that is deemed worthy of judgement for the rest
- 25:26of the guys that she's been defending or trying to pander up
- 25:29to the same way that they have treated all the other women that
- 25:31the pygmy has gone to. Then add on and dogpile on top
- 25:34of will be done to her and she'll be left stranded.
- 25:36It's similar to the whole male loneliness thing.
- 25:38Like no one's going to be in your corner because you're
- 25:39actively working against people. That would be you have people
- 25:42like Amber Rose going to defend Tory lanes going on things like
- 25:45News Nation a call for him to be freed and pardoned.
- 25:47Like it really just is trying to paint an area like being like,
- 25:50see, yes, you have a woman in here saying that this man that's
- 25:53been accused and convicted of something horrible to another
- 25:56woman was good to her and she thinks that he's not bad.
- 25:59Therefore what he did to that woman is absolved because he
- 26:02wasn't bad to every single woman.
- 26:03And all this really just makes me think like, why?
- 26:05Why are we here? Why are we here?
- 26:08I mean, I know why we're here, misogyny and patriarchy.
- 26:10But like, why are people going to bat so hard for these people
- 26:14that one, they don't know, two, don't know them, and three, are
- 26:18actually convicted or in the process of having legal
- 26:21processions for the terrible things that they have been
- 26:24documented to do to their partners and people that they're
- 26:26supposed to love. And my theory for this is that
- 26:28by and large, people, often men, are afraid to hold these other
- 26:32men accountable and to truly see their actions for what they are.
- 26:35Because for one, they built a pair of social relationship with
- 26:37them the same way as any other standom has.
- 26:40And I've watched them for a long time growing up with them,
- 26:43listen to their music, whatever, what have you.
- 26:44They have this weird sort of loyalty where they see
- 26:46themselves often times in these public figures.
- 26:49So to call out the problematic behavior of these people that
- 26:51they've idolized or see themselves in or project
- 26:54themselves upon what also mean to some extent, they would have
- 26:57to acknowledge and accept the fact that that they could
- 26:59potentially share some of those traits, belief systems.
- 27:02And the fact that they are OK with that going on and still
- 27:05supporting them. Like to condemn and implicate
- 27:06these people they're looking up to would also mean that they
- 27:09would have to condemn and implicate themselves to some
- 27:11degree, which I think is a hard thing to do and something that a
- 27:13lot of people just don't want to do.
- 27:15Because it's easier to subscribe to the narrative that these
- 27:17women want to put these famous and successful black men down
- 27:20versus the fact that they need to be accountable for their
- 27:23actions. And last one I'll make for this
- 27:24video is sort of just like a question like, do these toxic
- 27:27men, the people that we've been talking about and the people
- 27:29that are in the public eye that have these very public cases
- 27:32know that they are actively being drivers in the alt right
- 27:35pipeline right now? Like, are they aware that that's
- 27:37what they're doing? Because I, I guess I get on one
- 27:39hand wanting to protect your image and not wanting to seem
- 27:42like you did all the bad stuff that you did do.
- 27:45But on like a macro scale, like you'll have to know that the
- 27:48impact that this is having on your audiences or the audiences
- 27:51of people that are defending, talking about or making
- 27:55dissenting statements towards these victims are driving droves
- 27:59and droves of people, specifically young people down
- 28:01the alt right pipeline. Because this is how it starts.
- 28:03It's the insullification of online audiences.
- 28:06Like every form of media has like an alt right pipeline.
- 28:09It's been best documented with YouTube because it's been a
- 28:11platform that's been around for a while, but it's happening on
- 28:14every platform. Like you have many people,
- 28:15especially men that have noticed.
- 28:17But as you watch more suggested videos on topics like these, the
- 28:20more right leaning they get, whether or how that's your
- 28:22political ideology or not. There was actually an article
- 28:24talking about YouTube red Pilling back in 2019 that shared
- 28:28a story of a guy named Caleb Kane who was an ex alt right
- 28:30person who was a lost and confused liberal arts college
- 28:33dropout who didn't know his place in the world and got
- 28:36sucked into alt right beliefs through YouTube.
- 28:37He claimed it was something akin to a rabbit hole and that's
- 28:39where he began to get brainwashed by far right YouTube
- 28:43personalities, he's quoted as saying.
- 28:45I just kept falling deeper and deeper into this and it appealed
- 28:47to me because it made me feel a sense of belonging.
- 28:50Oh, do we see the connection here with the male loneliness
- 28:54epidemic, how this also is a cyclical driver into the all
- 28:57right pipeline. Despite it being a scary and
- 29:00hateful place, it's still going down that pipeline and being
- 29:03with those people did give him a sense of community.
- 29:05Like YouTube as a platform has a history of like having red pill
- 29:09content and leading men down this all right pipeline.
- 29:11But this is now being seen extended to places like
- 29:14streamers on Twitch, Kik, whatever would have you, and
- 29:17places like Twitter being the new frontier of radicalization.
- 29:20Like of course, you feel like the in Group and have a sense of
- 29:23longing when streamers are live all the time and sometimes with
- 29:25other friends and other streamers.
- 29:27It's almost like performing the essence of community of
- 29:30friendship, seeing people all be in a group of friends to live
- 29:33vicariously through them. But what happens oftentimes,
- 29:35especially when it is streamers that are being a part of these
- 29:39very serious cases is that it makes people adopt A lot of
- 29:42these dog whistles and soft launching alt right ideas like
- 29:45women being liars, going out to take down men, other forms of
- 29:47misogyny and passing, as well as showing examples of like women
- 29:51only being on stream streams as props and other forms of soft
- 29:53core content that are shown on these streams.
- 29:56Now think back to the people who are surrounding these men,
- 29:58right? Let's think about DDJ right now
- 30:00because he's recently been a professor on Streamer
- 30:02University. He's friends with a lot of other
- 30:03huge streamers and he's very tapped in.
- 30:06And a lot of the content that they put out, whether that be
- 30:08the clips or the actual streams, put out a lot of dog whistles or
- 30:10at least are a soft launch into a lot of alt right ideology like
- 30:14we've been talking about. So I think it does come down
- 30:16like men who use misogynistic, homophobic language use women as
- 30:19props and actual guest stars defending known abusers,
- 30:23signaling that like the media got them wrong or like they're
- 30:26trying to paint him out to be the bad guy when he's not
- 30:28creating this form of hero out of someone who has done wrong by
- 30:32people to viewers. Young, impressionable viewers
- 30:35has sort of started to become the norm.
- 30:37And whether these streamers, influencers, public figures are
- 30:40not mean to, they are guiding other young men into this
- 30:42ideology or at least serving as a launching pad.
- 30:45Like, I mean, like, look what happened with Pewdiepie's
- 30:46audience, you know? And I guess the close, this is
- 30:48all to say that I think we need to be really intentional about
- 30:51the conversation that we're having and the people that we
- 30:53continue the platform and give our energy to.
- 30:55Because I think if this goes unchecked, we're setting some
- 30:57very dangerous precedents and moving ourselves further and
- 31:00further back in terms of resources, injustice for
- 31:03survivors of abuse and young impressionable audiences.
- 31:06But yeah, I feel like I'd be upped enough now.
- 31:07I want to hear from you. What do you think about all of
- 31:09this? I'd love to know all your
- 31:10thoughts down in the comments section below.
