- 0:00My song is #1 on the Billboard Hot 1.
- 0:02Which one it is? It's bullet and supernova.
- 0:06Well, they're fighting for the 1st place.
- 0:08They just like keep knocking the other one out.
- 0:10Battle with yourself right now. Oh.
- 0:11Here comes damn good actress it's also entering.
- 0:13Oh my God. Top Crave Tiffany Stringer I
- 0:15feel like I I feel like even though it's just words, I can
- 0:18like, place a song on all of them.
- 0:19I feel like I'm tapping back into like the roots of who I am,
- 0:23which has been so liberating and fun.
- 0:26Whereas before I was like, who am?
- 0:27I'm always like, who am I? Who am I?
- 0:29And it's like when I just go back and look at the
- 0:31information. Hello Star Lulu's and welcome
- 0:49back to Delulu and a very special welcome to our guesty
- 0:52today. She is my personal new favorite
- 0:54artist for this year and I'm so excited she's here.
- 0:56I'm literally shy. I can't even look at her.
- 0:58Guys, let me just get through this intro.
- 1:00But coming all the way from the Lone Star State, we have the
- 1:03Texas prima Donna and Lone Star starlet herself.
- 1:07Miss Tiffany Stringer, hi. Amazing, that was a perfect
- 1:11introduction. You guys, I had it.
- 1:12That was my second time going into it and we're just going to
- 1:15keep it because like, I don't think I could get any better.
- 1:17No, it's perfect. I'm so excited you're fucking
- 1:19here. I'm like so grateful.
- 1:20I'm so gagged. Like literally as I was saying
- 1:22in that intro, like you are literally my favorite artist.
- 1:25I just discovered you and like, I'm so into everything you're
- 1:28doing. You're hitting all those marks
- 1:29for me, like your music and the Sonic direction and also like
- 1:32the way that you're jumping around in your genres and
- 1:34everything because we'll, we're going to get into it, but with
- 1:37the Lone Starlet, like you're really, really jumping around.
- 1:40Yeah, I don't like to box myself in.
- 1:42It's just like, whatever, it's fun, you know?
- 1:43That's what it's about. And you're so fun.
- 1:46We were having a Gabby honor right before this and I was
- 1:49like, she's so bubbly and so nice.
- 1:50And her team was like, she is so nice.
- 1:52And then she's like, I'm like, yes, she's so nice.
- 1:56Oh my gosh. Well, you are such a fresh voice
- 1:59in pop music, and I'm excited to get into everything.
- 2:01But we would love to borrow your beautiful voice to do some
- 2:05affirmations for the besties. Always.
- 2:07We're going to say some affirmations between us.
- 2:10We're going to popcorn them. OK, here you go.
- 2:12Thank you. Just to get a good vibe going
- 2:14for all the listeners. So this is Tiffany Stringer and
- 2:16I sing some empowering words. And if you're listening at home,
- 2:19all you need to do is relax, find your peace, listen, and
- 2:25just claim us speaking these great things into existence for
- 2:28you. OK, I.
- 2:30Love it. And should I say it to like to
- 2:31the camera? Do you wanna speak directly to
- 2:34him? Yeah, I'm going.
- 2:36To do that too. OK, All right, let's do it.
- 2:39OK. You are force of nature,
- 2:43impossible to ignore and impossible to replace.
- 2:49I got a chill. Claiming.
- 2:53You are the brightest star in every room you enter.
- 2:57I got a chill, I really did, down my spine.
- 2:59We're passing chills back and. Forth like literally I was like
- 3:02fuck, I feel like I'm going to feel type of way.
- 3:04Oh my gosh. OK, you were turning your
- 3:07talents into lasting success and abundance.
- 3:12I'm receiving. Them I'm receiving that one too.
- 3:16Oh, I feel called to say this one directly to you.
- 3:18OK. You are meant to shine
- 3:23unapologetically and take up space.
- 3:25Oh my God that is so sweet. I'm literally shaking y'all.
- 3:29I'm so geeked out right now. I don't think you'll have seen
- 3:31me like this in a while because like genuinely such a fan.
- 3:35I'm like ruining these affirmations for everyone.
- 3:37I'm so sorry guys. Thank you.
- 3:40That's so funny. Actually just in an interview
- 3:42like 2 days ago. Really.
- 3:43Yes. With Jackie, Well Jackie was
- 3:45there for it and she and I was like, I was like, I deserve to
- 3:49take up space too. So that's clock.
- 3:53I'm I'm cleaning up. OK, you are inspiring others
- 3:58simply by being yourself. I love that one me.
- 4:02Too. You are attracting success,
- 4:05recognition and opportunities with ease.
- 4:10Claiming you were destined for extraordinary things and rising
- 4:15higher than ever before, I. Like that one?
- 4:19I like that one. You are becoming more powerful,
- 4:23confident and magnetic. Well, I still.
- 4:28I still. You are becoming more powerful,
- 4:32confident and magnetic every day.
- 4:34I love that. OK, here's my last one.
- 4:38You are the main character of your story and the world is
- 4:41ready to see you shine like a supernova.
- 4:46I add with that one. OK, I love it.
- 4:52OK, this is my final one. Love, you are worthy of the
- 4:59spotlight and everything you dream of achieving.
- 5:03That is crazy. These are really good these.
- 5:05Are good. Those were good.
- 5:06I like that I. Wrote these right?
- 5:07I did write them loosely loosely, but that last one
- 5:11really gives like your EP cover. Stunning.
- 5:14Wow. Stunning.
- 5:15Stunning. Claimed claimed.
- 5:16Stunning. Yeah, it's all I love the
- 5:18spotlight. OK.
- 5:19And low key, we were kind of really bad at that, so I'm so
- 5:21sorry guys. But it was fun.
- 5:22I liked it. We had a good time.
- 5:23I liked it, I felt. I think the energy is better
- 5:25because we're like really into it.
- 5:27It's fun when you just put that out into the world a little bit.
- 5:29It just it shifts the. Energy, yes, and honestly that
- 5:32was like a good like good little ice burger.
- 5:33Like I feel I'm like, ready. I'm ready.
- 5:35I'm warmed up. Me too, me too.
- 5:38We're going to get into all the Tiffany lore, so this is my
- 5:41first time meeting you. Like for real?
- 5:42For reals. And you've been releasing music
- 5:43for, I want to say, the past decade, maybe more.
- 5:47Honestly, yeah. I don't even remember the year
- 5:50of when I put my first song out. But my first song, it's not on
- 5:53three platforms anymore. My parents put it up as like a
- 5:56birthday gift to me, and I didn't know it was coming out.
- 6:01I mean, I think it was one of those things that was like, no,
- 6:03yeah. You're like, I would hate if
- 6:06everyone heard the. Crazy.
- 6:07I was really proud of it. Now I look back at it and it was
- 6:09like, not good. But it's, I don't know.
- 6:12I'm such a big believer of like jump before you're ready and
- 6:15like you have to. That was kind of my first
- 6:17exposure to that. No one's ever going to be ready,
- 6:19right? Genuinely like you kind of.
- 6:21It's exactly that. You literally just need to do.
- 6:23It yeah, that part. So Tiffany, you are very proudly
- 6:26from the Lone Star State, Texas. It has such a huge influence on
- 6:30you and your music and everything about you.
- 6:32Like, tell us about your upbringing.
- 6:34Tell us what's going on over here.
- 6:35Your parents put out your first song for you, so you did you.
- 6:37You always wanted to be an artist, I.
- 6:39Did I? I mean, I started out originally
- 6:42as a dancer when I was really little in the way that like, a
- 6:44lot of people do dance classes when they're babies.
- 6:46But I started getting supernova. Yeah, yeah, I, I started out
- 6:50with that and then I got into like a like theater because it
- 6:53was like a part of the dance studio I would do.
- 6:55So that was like, then I would do that.
- 6:57And then that's when I, like my, my parents became aware, aware
- 7:01of the fact that I could sing. And then from there it was like
- 7:04doing more competitive dance, a lot of theatre.
- 7:07And then I started really just starting to sing pop songs.
- 7:10And I was like, wait a second, there's something here.
- 7:14There's something. Here.
- 7:16Yeah, and I, I think it was always, it's funny, a lot of
- 7:19people will ask me like the moment it like switches, but I
- 7:22feel like that was, it was always just kind of part of my
- 7:24life. But yeah, in Texas, which is
- 7:26kind of a random thing in Texas, I was like the singer girl at
- 7:30school. Like not a lot of people.
- 7:32I had friends that would also do it, but it was like you were
- 7:35like doing it. I was doing it.
- 7:36And I and it was just like my thing I would do after school
- 7:39and like I would sing during school.
- 7:40There was like a stint in like, yeah, it was just what I did.
- 7:43I remember in fifth grade I had a stint where I became obsessed
- 7:46with yodeling randomly. I can't yodel anymore, but I
- 7:49would like listen to this one yodeling song and repeat.
- 7:51And then I would show up to school and I'd be like, I never
- 7:53even performed my song. Oh my God, you're that girl.
- 7:56You're that girl. Insufferable.
- 7:58Girl, I would have ate it up. I would have ate it up.
- 8:01Some people dated, some people were like.
- 8:02I would be like everyone, quiet. Yeah.
- 8:04It's about a yodel for us. We did a field trip once that I
- 8:06remember. Like it was like, I don't even
- 8:08remember where we were. It's like an obstacle course
- 8:09field trip. I performed at the end of it and
- 8:11it was. Like wait, like just like
- 8:13impromptu performs or like they asked.
- 8:14You. I actually can't remember.
- 8:15If, but you just knew you performed.
- 8:17Yeah, I just remember like standing there performing be
- 8:19like what how this is. OK, just as like a mega fan and
- 8:23I just have to clock my observation here.
- 8:25Like everything you described, Mattis, the yodeling is pretty
- 8:27much your last project. You're like dancing theatre, the
- 8:32pop song, the performing, the spotlight.
- 8:35It you did do it all Texas. Yeah, it's all in there.
- 8:38I feel like I, I feel like even though it's just words, I can
- 8:40like place a song on all of them so well.
- 8:42I like that. You have a lot like their
- 8:44influence is really carried with you.
- 8:45Yeah. It's it's fun.
- 8:47I feel like I'm tapping back into like the roots of who I am,
- 8:50which has been so liberating and fun.
- 8:53Whereas before I was like, who am I?
- 8:54I'm always like, who am I? Who am I?
- 8:56And it's like when I just go back and look at the information
- 8:59from my past, it's like, oh, that's who I am.
- 9:01Like yes, if you. It's in your DNA as an artist,
- 9:04which is exciting. I think that, and that's, I
- 9:06think that that is true for everybody.
- 9:08It's like if you go back and look at what you loved as a
- 9:10child, like all the answers are right there.
- 9:12I was just thinking that too. My publicist banned me from
- 9:15talking about my own project. But just for reference, Just for
- 9:18reference, I was thinking about my music this morning on the way
- 9:22here and I was like, it's very 20, 10s recession pop.
- 9:24And I was like, that's the music I loved.
- 9:25And that's what I'm making now is like, how interesting is
- 9:27that's what I want to make. That's what I feel connected
- 9:29with. And when you let yourself just
- 9:31do at the end of the day, you have to like think about
- 9:33yourself as like, like, I'm a fan of these things.
- 9:38Like I'm really just like having fun making what I love.
- 9:43So 100. Percent is so fulfilling and
- 9:45it's so nice. What was like the music you were
- 9:47listening to, like growing up in high school?
- 9:49Oh, in high school. I mean, I was listening to a lot
- 9:51of Katy Perry in high. School.
- 9:52Me too. Wait, I'm so glad Teenage Dream
- 9:55is literally. The pop song Oh.
- 9:57My the greatest pop song of all time.
- 9:59It is genuinely the greatest pop song of all time.
- 10:01Like that that album, the whole album that is like that is my
- 10:04reference. Like I'm like every time we we
- 10:06start a new song, I'm always like guys, Teenage Dream vibe,
- 10:07Teenage Dream vibe. Like big for it really.
- 10:10Like, if you're really going to go for the best thing ever, it's
- 10:12like. Why not aim 100%?
- 10:17Oh my gosh yes yes yes Oh my God, he loved Katy Perry too.
- 10:20So good. And then, you know, when you're,
- 10:24let's say you're in high school, you're listening to music.
- 10:26So it was there other artists here that you were like super
- 10:28into? I mean, yeah, I feel like I
- 10:30actually in high school, I remember when I like first got
- 10:33my license and I was obsessed with listening to Lord and yeah,
- 10:38pure heroin. Yes, yeah, pure heroin.
- 10:40And was also really obsessed with like like $1,000,000 bills.
- 10:45Do you know that song? Yeah, by Lord, it's on the EP.
- 10:47Yeah, it's on the EP, The Love Club EP.
- 10:48And that was obsessed with that EP.
- 10:50Oh my God. I feel like that really, it
- 10:52really symbolizes the like my first little bit of freedom.
- 10:56I feel like, you know, like when you like have the autonomy, like
- 10:58drive around to be in your solitude.
- 11:01Like that to me, I think of Lord when I think of that chapter of
- 11:04my life. Oh.
- 11:04My God, absolutely. And also that entire era for her
- 11:07was about like suburbia and like, yes, 100% it was.
- 11:10So it was really formative for me too because I grew up in the
- 11:13suburbs and it just felt like this is what it is, very
- 11:15mundane. But you know, I'm the type of
- 11:17person that romanticizes everything.
- 11:18So I love that she did that. Too.
- 11:19It is so cool. I I think about that often.
- 11:22I'm just like making this like everyday life that maybe doesn't
- 11:25always feel so magical, like shaping it in such a magical way
- 11:29is truly she's so good at that that's.
- 11:31Oh my God, you're too. I feel like even like on in
- 11:34Supernova in the verses where you're talking like about these
- 11:36like mundane things, you know what I mean?
- 11:39Like the TV and then like the sofa, like everything is just
- 11:41like it just sounds so pretty and magical coming from you and
- 11:45like you're writing. We're going we're really going
- 11:47to get into this EP, but but we'll we'll get to it.
- 11:50But anyways, so you actually dropped out of high school.
- 11:53I did. Oh my God, IT.
- 11:55I got my technically I got my GED, so I get what I call, which
- 12:00I don't know where I got this term.
- 12:02It's probably a very public term, but I call my good enough
- 12:04diploma like, oh, love it. I just like, I was in a
- 12:07crossroads in my life and it was either like at 17, yeah, right.
- 12:11And then it was kind of like, do I go back?
- 12:13I was at an art school for a little bit and I was like, do I
- 12:15go back to public school and kind of play catch up or do I go
- 12:21to California? And I was like I want to go.
- 12:24To California. Got to go to.
- 12:25California. So yeah, I just backed up and
- 12:28went. You've been hustling for a
- 12:29really long time, too. It's been a long time.
- 12:31I mean, you've been doing it because you also toured of Kids
- 12:33Bop, but as like a teenager. Yeah, it was, it was my freshman
- 12:37year and it was it was like a brief stint to my life, but very
- 12:40formative. It was honestly kind of what
- 12:41prompted the crossroads that I was in.
- 12:43Isn't that crazy? Yeah.
- 12:44Like I almost didn't do it. I was really nervous.
- 12:47Wait, how did you get that opportunity?
- 12:48So funny enough, originally I auditioned and didn't make it
- 12:53OK. They did not hire me.
- 12:55Oh. My God, they were wrong for
- 12:56that. I was robbed, I was snubbed.
- 12:59But the place that they were doing the rehearsals, crazy
- 13:03enough, was where I had taken vocal lessons and there was one
- 13:07girl that had to, like, step out of the mix and they needed like
- 13:11a swing. So I came in to, like, join in
- 13:14the last, like, little leg of it.
- 13:16And which is great because it was, it was like a brief stint.
- 13:18But yeah. It.
- 13:20Was awesome. It was also like the first time
- 13:22I realized like it could be a job I.
- 13:26Guess you loved. It I loved it and I would like
- 13:28go to school during the week and I would usually like leave
- 13:30Fridays early and like go. Like I was sorry, I have to go.
- 13:34I was working. Yeah.
- 13:36You're employed. Yeah, I was employed so, but it
- 13:39was, it was awesome. That's so cool.
- 13:41You know, we had Delulu alum Grant Kanoki was like one of the
- 13:45Kidz Bop Kids. Do you know him?
- 13:46Yes, I we didn't know each other in that room.
- 13:48Yeah, you had different cycles. He was, he was right after like
- 13:51I closed up the cycle before and then he was the next cycle.
- 13:54Really. Yeah, yeah, he's awesome.
- 13:56I just ran into him not too long ago.
- 13:57He's great. Oh my God, he's amazing.
- 13:59We should have him on the show again.
- 14:00Love him. But yeah, that's crazy.
- 14:02We have, I guess we're having a lot of, we're collecting the
- 14:04kids. Bop kids bop.
- 14:06Kids bop banking stars His mom is making stars like the.
- 14:09Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I guess so.
- 14:11Like, shit, that's crazy. So OK, so then you drop out of
- 14:15high school and you go straight to California.
- 14:17Like, did you have a plan? What was going on?
- 14:19None. I should have had more of a
- 14:20plan. No, I mean, it worked out.
- 14:22It worked out so well. Oh my gosh.
- 14:24Yeah, I, I really, I thought I had a lot more going for me at
- 14:28the time, so I honestly came out here thinking like I'm going to
- 14:31be a star, like. I mean, you are, yes.
- 14:34That's what everyone thinks and that's what everyone should
- 14:36think. Yeah, and but it was just funny
- 14:37because the the reality of it was a lot of like, not that.
- 14:41And it was just, I, there's been like, different phases of like,
- 14:46committing harder and, like, learning to do what it takes to
- 14:50like, yeah, which I'm really grateful for.
- 14:53Of course there are times where I'm like, like, like, why didn't
- 14:57happen? But now I look back at that and,
- 14:59you know, hindsight's 2020, like a million percent.
- 15:02I'm grateful for my path. Honestly, and it's really cool
- 15:06that you're so positive about it too, because like, I think I, I
- 15:09have this conversation a lot with my artist friends because
- 15:11then they feel that way where they're like, it's been so long,
- 15:13like, why hasn't it happened yet?
- 15:14But I'm like, you know, like Chapel Rowan took like 10 years.
- 15:17Sabrina Carpenter had five hours before she took off and.
- 15:20It's fine that it's like, I've also had the luxury of I've had
- 15:24the luxury of watching people's careers like ebb and flow and
- 15:28change. And because I've been out here
- 15:30for so long, I've watched people like go home or like give up,
- 15:34which there's nothing wrong with that.
- 15:35We all have our truth right. But like, it's really the when
- 15:39you see people succeed, it's because they just kept showing
- 15:42up the. Consistency.
- 15:43It's literally just the consistency.
- 15:44But you have to really want it really bad because it is hard to
- 15:47keep getting up. No one's going to want it more
- 15:50than you, and no one should want it more than you.
- 15:52And that's what I always tell people too when they ask me
- 15:54about like the entertainment issue you're like getting
- 15:56started making. Like whatever it is, I'm like,
- 15:57you genuinely have to want it. Like, 'cause then you can have
- 16:01an entire team who wants it for you, but like, you need it.
- 16:03You need to show up. It's just, and honestly, if you
- 16:05don't want it, it would just be too much work for you.
- 16:07Like it's like. It's like if you are having fun,
- 16:09it really is like. It's 20%.
- 16:11Really hard to work to keep working really hard.
- 16:13Which is fine. I'm I'm grateful for it.
- 16:16Yeah, I mean, you did it. I'm so I'm proud of you.
- 16:19Like just like I'm meeting you for the first time and like
- 16:22honest because I just discovered you too.
- 16:24But I'm like, damn, you've really been out here.
- 16:26I haven't. I haven't seen people give up
- 16:28yet so that that, but I feel like people are about to like
- 16:31people I know. People, yeah, people see you and
- 16:33it's also OK. Like there's there really is
- 16:34nothing. That's so sweet because.
- 16:37Sometimes it is like they aren't having fun and it's like we'll
- 16:40go. It's not literally giving up
- 16:42even though if it's like if that was the goal, I think sometimes
- 16:45giving up is like just releasing control and like letting life
- 16:49take you. Where your joy?
- 16:50Is yeah, like I do. I do believe in that.
- 16:53Did you? Have moments where you wanted to
- 16:55give. Up.
- 16:56I mean, yeah, like, I even think about things like I've had
- 16:58moments of like giving up that actually worked well for my
- 17:01career too. Like I think of probably in like
- 17:042023 where I was like, giving up on trying to get people to like
- 17:08me. What do you mean?
- 17:09Like you're? So likable.
- 17:10Well, I guess like as an artist, I was trying to like write
- 17:12things that I thought people would like.
- 17:14And it was actually when I was like, this isn't working, like I
- 17:18don't gaffe anymore that people started to like it.
- 17:21And it was like, I think that's what's.
- 17:23Surprising when you start living in your offenses, seeing me in
- 17:25truth and like when you're just like, I'm just going to make
- 17:27things for me. You're going to be so shocked.
- 17:29You can just give up on like the agenda you have and you're like,
- 17:31oh, OK, I. Feel like so many artists go
- 17:33through that because like I've been in SO many sessions where
- 17:34it's just like, okay, let's make it a hit and I'm like.
- 17:36No, it doesn't work. Yeah, I'm like, I just want to
- 17:38write something that I feel like I want to write right now.
- 17:40You know what I mean? If you write your favorite song
- 17:42that day, then it's like, yes, that's my personal.
- 17:46And then people, people so connect, yeah, you'll be so
- 17:48surprised. Like even if what you're doing,
- 17:49like you're jumping around with like honestly, we're going to
- 17:53get into it, you guys. I'm trying so hard to resist
- 17:56because this, that's going to be my favorite part.
- 17:57I want to talk about the EP so bad.
- 17:58But like you literally have folk on the EP.
- 18:00You have dance pop, you have pop, you have like this.
- 18:02You have a string quartet everywhere.
- 18:04Actually, even before this project, you've been doing that.
- 18:08You have the country with Bullet and then you have like this very
- 18:12like cinematic closing track. So like you're really exploring
- 18:17that you're making. We can tell you're making music
- 18:19that you love. I.
- 18:19Just yeah, I I think that that's the one that's like my North
- 18:22Star always. It's like where is the joy And
- 18:25like, and if I can like package that into something and then put
- 18:29that out into the world, like that's what I'm giving the
- 18:31world, then like that's better to me than any like type of, you
- 18:35know, manufactured thing. You should love what you're
- 18:38doing. You should love the art you're
- 18:40making, you should love everything you're creating.
- 18:42That's how I feel too. It's like, I want to be excited
- 18:44about what I'm doing. Because if I'm not, it's exactly
- 18:46what you said, then it's like, then what am I doing?
- 18:47I'm not even enjoying it. Anymore.
- 18:49And it's hard. So you know, when you said you
- 18:52were like at the point in 2023 where you're like, oh, I might
- 18:54give up. Like you just mean like giving
- 18:55up on writing songs that you think people would like or you
- 18:57mean? Like it was like a, it was
- 18:58honestly another crossroads in my life where I was like, either
- 19:03there were things I knew I needed to start doing and I was
- 19:07being stubborn about the way I wanted my path to look like in
- 19:12the way I thought it was going to be.
- 19:13And I was really holding on to that.
- 19:14You had expectations. Yes, yeah.
- 19:16And so there was like a point in my life where I was like, am I
- 19:19going to sit around and wait for this path to happen or am I
- 19:23going to do what everybody else is doing, like get to work?
- 19:27And that was kind of the thing for me.
- 19:29It was like, you know, I, I started focusing actually more
- 19:34like I, I started like posting tik toks and it was like, yeah,
- 19:36like get up and like do the thing.
- 19:40Yeah. And I, and it was really like,
- 19:41either you do this because this is the job or you at home.
- 19:44And I was like, I'm not going home.
- 19:46Oh shit, I'm so happy that you didn't go home.
- 19:48Oh my gosh, I can't imagine my life without Supernova.
- 19:53Just so crazy. That's really sweet.
- 19:54I didn't even know that song was even existing when I discovered
- 19:57you, you know, But that's crazy. So that's such a journey.
- 20:00And obviously you've been releasing music for the past
- 20:03like 10 years or so. What happened?
- 20:05We never got into what happened to your original songs because I
- 20:07was like, oh, your debut single Blonde 2019?
- 20:09There's more that predates that that I've taken down.
- 20:12There's there's you took them after that that have been taken
- 20:14down. Yeah.
- 20:14Because to be honest with you, I was like uploading songs on all
- 20:17these different like distribution platforms and like
- 20:19also it was like. Because you're doing it by.
- 20:20Yourself yeah yeah, I'm just like uploading stuff and then I
- 20:23would be like well do you want to renew this and I'm like no
- 20:26they're all everywhere so I was like I just don't want to keep
- 20:28paying for it and then also there were some that I just in
- 20:32the kind of the same fashion as my EB.
- 20:34It would be like my first song that I personally uploaded was
- 20:37like a rock song and then I think Blonde came next and then
- 20:40I had like a folk song during 2020 like you're.
- 20:43Like going you're just making what you want.
- 20:45Exactly. Yeah, I have my like very Pop
- 20:48girl era that's like still up there, but I don't know, I just
- 20:50kind of that I was just uploading whatever I wanted and
- 20:54then that's later in life I started like package.
- 20:56I was like, I need to start packaging things so that I can
- 20:57have the freedom to still make whatever I want.
- 20:59Oh my God, you're doing that. That's interesting because you
- 21:01can actually see like your musical progression and
- 21:04evolution as an artist too with your releases.
- 21:06Like like you said, like you had like a rock song, your pop girl
- 21:08era and then you have the Texas prima Donna and then you're
- 21:12going to the Lone Starlet. So because then honestly, they
- 21:14feel like sister projects to me. Yes, they are.
- 21:16They are. OK, that's what I was thinking.
- 21:18To me, it's like the other side of the coin of Texas prima Donna
- 21:21and the. The Texas from Madonna coming
- 21:23out to LA. To LA and become the Lone
- 21:25Starlet. Yeah.
- 21:26And I think that there was so much when I made Texas from
- 21:28Madonna, I really wanted to be like, I really wanted to like
- 21:32package myself in a way that people could understand.
- 21:34Like I couldn't just like be changing my mind every 5 seconds
- 21:36because I felt like nobody could latch on.
- 21:38OK, what I thought. So I was like, OK, I'm going to
- 21:41like make a project and it's going to be cohesive and I'm
- 21:43going to be you know, like I was really kind of thinking about
- 21:46that honestly. And then but there were songs
- 21:49that had written that are on the Lone Starlet that had written in
- 21:52that that same time period. And like my song Casualty, I
- 21:56wrote the same week that I wrote my song.
- 21:58Oh my God, Oh my God. And they're very different.
- 22:01Very different. But it didn't.
- 22:02So it didn't make sense to put it on Texas prima Donna to me at
- 22:06the time. Oh, so you held on to?
- 22:08It. Yeah, and I didn't know where.
- 22:09You knew you wanted to go somewhere.
- 22:10Yeah, I knew it was important. I wanted to like express that
- 22:12and put that out, but I was like, this isn't the time for
- 22:15it. And then when I put Texas Prima
- 22:17Donna, I love that project, but there was still so much I wanted
- 22:20to say. So I was like, let me kind of
- 22:22show the other side of it and write this narrative out to like
- 22:26welcome people into it because it was not like AI felt this way
- 22:29and I don't feel this way anymore.
- 22:30Yeah, you're like still very there coexist like.
- 22:34And so I'm, I, I love kind of letting myself, you know, say,
- 22:38say all of. That you have the freedom to
- 22:39make that art that you want to make and explore the sounds that
- 22:42you want to do. Because you know what's
- 22:43interesting? I'm a huge, huge fan of one
- 22:46world building with artists. I love when artists world build
- 22:49and fun you, you're literally taking us into a movie with your
- 22:53project, of course. And then also just like I really
- 22:55like cohesion and what's interesting about yours because
- 22:57like it tackles some these different genres, but it still
- 22:59feels very grounded. And actually this is a testament
- 23:03to you. I think that's rare for an
- 23:04artist to dive into, dip into different genres and still have
- 23:07the project feel like it's belonging on this one project.
- 23:10I really appreciate it. Like, what is the secret sauce
- 23:12to that? I think it's writing your voice,
- 23:14of course. Yeah, that was always like the
- 23:16nice through line. I remember like listening to the
- 23:20original demos of things and I was just like kind of going into
- 23:22different sessions also with all new people.
- 23:25I had never really written with as many people as I did in that
- 23:28chapter of my life. And so, but it was funny because
- 23:31I would like walk into a session with completely different people
- 23:34and a completely different reference and like completely
- 23:36different idea. And then I was like looking at
- 23:38all these songs and I was like. What's going on?
- 23:39How did I was like, how did these go together?
- 23:41Like I have no, I'm just kind of like throwing things and I I've
- 23:45got to get it together and but. You loved all of them.
- 23:48Though I loved all of them and they're all you truth to all of
- 23:51them, I wanted to put all of them out.
- 23:52And so then it was kind of this thing of working backwards of
- 23:55like, OK, I see everything like, or maybe was working for it, I
- 23:59don't know. But like piercing it together in
- 24:02a way. Trying to look at the bigger
- 24:03picture. Yeah, I.
- 24:05You got the pieces. I just zoom out a bit and kind
- 24:08of like look at macro and see like how it clicks and and
- 24:13honestly, I started watching a lot of like movies because it
- 24:17was and I'm this is like a big part of like how it all came
- 24:21together. But it was like how I watched a
- 24:24movie called Sing in the rain. Huge, huge movie, obviously, but
- 24:27I'd never seen it and. I still haven't seen it.
- 24:29I'm going to watch it. You should watch it you've been
- 24:31referencing. It's a classic.
- 24:32It's amazing and it's so. Beautiful.
- 24:34I would literally, I would literally only watch it so I can
- 24:36understand your process with this project more.
- 24:38Because that's crazy. Because I remember I was reading
- 24:39some press that you were doing and you were talking about how
- 24:41like it's like, well, they would have an aspect of the movie
- 24:44they're performing and then they would zoom out.
- 24:46And then there's this other. Aspect, I mean, it's like if
- 24:48you've ever seen a movie where like they're on set and then
- 24:50they come off set. But it really clicked for me in
- 24:52watching that movie specifically.
- 24:54It is that like, they go on set and they're playing a character
- 24:58and then they come off set and then we're going through their
- 25:00own things and I was like. Interesting.
- 25:02What a concept. Truth there.
- 25:03There's truth there. And I was trying to figure out
- 25:05like, because I would write a song about something that was
- 25:08like, I don't gaff like. A lot of the Texas prima Donna.
- 25:13Who is that? And that is a very real part of
- 25:15me that I do often feel. But then there's also a part of
- 25:18me sometimes it's like, hey, yeah.
- 25:20Well, you know what? It's just 'cause you're a damn
- 25:22good actress. Right, right.
- 25:23That was the final song we wrote 'cause I was like, thank God for
- 25:26I need to like tie it all together of like piercing
- 25:30everything 'cause I have. So good like.
- 25:31Bullets like one side of it, casualties another side of it.
- 25:34And so I was like. How are we like kind of connect?
- 25:36Yes, yeah, so damn good. Actress was the final song I
- 25:38needed to write. Oh my God, that one's so good.
- 25:42I'm like, I don't want to speed through 'cause I really want to
- 25:44get to the EP, but I have so many questions just leading up
- 25:46'cause I'm curious too. Yeah, with your journey.
- 25:48So the songs that you have up still, those are the ones that
- 25:52you still want to like, represent you, but then the
- 25:54other ones that you have that you just decide you want to
- 25:56take, you didn't want to keep on.
- 25:58Yeah, I, I mean, honestly, I didn't really think much into
- 26:01it. I think that those are the songs
- 26:03though that I still, I look back at and I'm like there's truth in
- 26:09the in the journey of it all that like I want people to see.
- 26:12And there have also been times where people maybe wanted me to,
- 26:15like, take all of them down. And who's to say like, oh, I'm
- 26:18not I'm, I mean, who? Who knows?
- 26:20I was actually going to ask that because I was like, you know,
- 26:21signing with a record label. Like I'm surprised that your a
- 26:26lot of your discography is still not that they would take it
- 26:27down, but I'm like, you know, usually it's just like, OK, new
- 26:30artist, brand new artist, yes. Like we're going to brand you as
- 26:32a brand new artist, you know what I mean?
- 26:34Yeah, I I really love letting people into the journey I took
- 26:39and I'm. So curious.
- 26:40I feel like it would be a disservice to be like, oh, I
- 26:42just made this project and it was like easy in my first time
- 26:44doing. It's like, that's a lot.
- 26:46Imagine, Oh my God, if like, let's see, you just drop the
- 26:48Lone Star out of nowhere and you have nothing else and you're
- 26:50like, what The She's what? I flopped a million times so.
- 26:55I think. We all have like, I think that
- 26:57is important for people to recognize that I flop.
- 26:59I like. That.
- 27:00And that's OK. And like we can.
- 27:03Flop Did you see Zara Larsson? Oh, well, she what did she say
- 27:06she was like, Well, it's. She was like, I'm, I'm, I'm had
- 27:10my flop era or something like that.
- 27:12It was so. Funny.
- 27:12So awesome. And yeah.
- 27:14So it's like, I don't know. Embrace the flop era.
- 27:16There's so much like, Oh my gosh, I feel like there's this
- 27:18notion that everything should be out the gate of Smash, but
- 27:21sometimes it's like we're trying to build something you're.
- 27:23Learning and also it's like you're getting better.
- 27:25Yeah. And I think that all of those
- 27:27things really like you can see the parallels and how I figured
- 27:31like even when I'm doing now, it's like not really that
- 27:33different. I just got I feel more refined
- 27:37about. It, that was what I was going to
- 27:38say. It just feels more refined,
- 27:40Literally just feels more refined because like, honestly,
- 27:42even with the previous EP, the Texas Prima Donna, like if like
- 27:46we we talked about, it just feels like an extension of what
- 27:48you're doing with the Lone Starlet.
- 27:50Do you imagine in a different world, maybe The Lone Starlet
- 27:54and the Texas Prima Donna would have been your debut album?
- 27:56Yeah, really. I I did think about that.
- 27:59I. I like that they're EPS.
- 28:01Yeah, I because they are. If anything it's kind of like a
- 28:04side B side type 1,000,000%. We get a lot of different.
- 28:08Sites because I feel like I'm so sorry to interrupt you.
- 28:10Like with the Lone starlet, I feel so much more vulnerable,
- 28:12like you know what I mean? Like that's such a great
- 28:15concept, but damn good actress to be like, well.
- 28:18Behind the curtain. And it feels like behind the.
- 28:20Curtain, but it's the same it's the same version of me and yeah,
- 28:25no, I did think about that. I almost was going to like maybe
- 28:28do like the lone starlet as an album because I wrote a ton of
- 28:31songs. I had a ton of songs.
- 28:32Oh my God. But it didn't feel like it felt
- 28:36like the prelude, like, whereas like I think the debut album is
- 28:39like, hey, I'm introducing myself as this person.
- 28:42Like to me, this is the back story leading up to it.
- 28:46So I felt like that was right. I'm so itching to get to it.
- 28:49OK, well, little bit more background and then we're going
- 28:52to going to dive into all the new music and everything.
- 28:55But would you say like where you're from had a giant
- 28:57influence on your music? Where are you from actually?
- 29:00I'm from near Dallas in Texas. Suburb.
- 29:03You're from Texas? Yeah, from Texas.
- 29:05And. I'm kidding.
- 29:07I'm kidding. I knew that.
- 29:08I told him. I told him I can tell if people
- 29:10don't really know me because they'll ask me where I'm from.
- 29:13That's why I posed the question. I was like, I was like, would
- 29:15you say where you're from influences the music when it's
- 29:17like, like literally. No, but I appreciate you and if
- 29:21you. Clocked that I was like what if
- 29:23you think I'm like a little dummy or something no no, you're
- 29:25perfect oh me research boots down I'm so I.
- 29:28Already. Know it guys, can we?
- 29:30Do you see how many cue cards I have for this episode?
- 29:32It's a tarot card. Spread it.
- 29:33Really is. I can't even.
- 29:35It's girl. Oh my God, how embarrassing.
- 29:39Thank you so much. OK.
- 29:42Is going to be all unorganized now.
- 29:43Do you need to reset? You know what, I have the show
- 29:45memorized. So like, honestly, it's just for
- 29:49the benefit of the structure because I know what I want to.
- 29:51Ask. I love that.
- 29:52Okay, okay, so now we're all the way over here and honestly,
- 29:56everything worked out for you. I'm so happy that you been
- 29:57really seeing like music for the past 10 years, but like you
- 30:01recently signed Atlantic Records.
- 30:02Congratulations. Oh my God, such a rite of
- 30:04passage for every artist. It's so fun.
- 30:06Like it was never, I will say it was never something I was like
- 30:10gunning towards like I I guess I just but when it had I remember
- 30:15when I posted that I signed and it really like had a big wave
- 30:20and I was like. Oh well, I feel like because
- 30:21you've been around in the music industry, like people were so
- 30:23aware too. You know what I mean?
- 30:25I feel like for a lot of people, like especially people back
- 30:27home, like I remember on Facebook, like every relative I
- 30:30have was posting it and I love them, love you guys.
- 30:32But it was just so funny because I feel like it was the first
- 30:35thing. Or it's like, things can be a
- 30:37dream for you, you know? But it's like when when there's
- 30:40like a tangible proof of like, oh.
- 30:42Validated, yes, but it. Was like, yeah, it was like the
- 30:47validation that people were like, oh, like she's actually
- 30:50doing stuff. Wait, so.
- 30:52And I was like, oh. OK, it's nice to feel that way,
- 30:54too. Yeah, that's how I felt when I
- 30:55signed a UTA where I was like, where I was like, Oh my God,
- 30:58guys, I'm serious. Yes.
- 30:59It's like you made it. You did it.
- 31:00Yeah. There's like a, There's like a.
- 31:01Sample. It's just the beginning of the
- 31:02work, actually. Yes, yeah, it's.
- 31:05Like now we're really going to get to the work.
- 31:07Yes, absolutely. Well, congratulations.
- 31:09We love Atlantic here. We had a lot of Atlantic alum on
- 31:11the show. We just had Whitney.
- 31:13Whitney. And.
- 31:13A lot of previous Atlantic alum so.
- 31:15Yeah, I love Atlantic. I'm very happy to have found a
- 31:17home there. That's awesome too, because I
- 31:19really like that you have the flexibility and the creative
- 31:21freedom to do it because like, I'm, I'm so shocked that they're
- 31:24like, yeah, drop a country song. Yeah, yeah, do.
- 31:26Your pop song. Next it is so fun yeah I think
- 31:29because I I've like you know, I think because I am such a visual
- 31:33artist that they were like and I had the proof of concept which
- 31:36I'm really grateful for and I think there is a beautiful trust
- 31:40they have in me to like that's. Awesome.
- 31:42Live it, you know, like make those decisions, which I'm
- 31:44really grateful for. And I think that is like a huge,
- 31:48you know, kudos to them as a as a company because they're
- 31:52putting the faith in artists that I think is like not not
- 31:55always been the case with the major label system, but they
- 31:57know what they're doing. They're smart, awesome people.
- 32:00I trust them, they trust me. And it's like it's a beautiful
- 32:03relationship, it. Really is I love the rollout and
- 32:06everything. I literally one of the saw
- 32:08showing you my messages and me like getting excited about you
- 32:11coming on the show. 1 of them I didn't show you I was like maybe
- 32:14I shouldn't say this one. I texted Charlie and I was like
- 32:16Tiffany Stringer's roll out all her press copy, copy, copy.
- 32:20I want all of that. I was like, I love everything
- 32:23she's doing. I love her roll out.
- 32:24I love the events, everything she was doing.
- 32:26I was like Charlie make no. They they honestly, it was it's
- 32:29awesome and it's so cool. Like just like to be surrounded
- 32:33by genius people too, because I could have like a tiny idea and
- 32:37maybe it's like I'm not really thinking about it.
- 32:38Like, I love thinking of that kind of stuff, but to be around
- 32:41people that one can execute it to make it even better than I
- 32:47would have originally thought it as.
- 32:48But and then also. Like real collaborations.
- 32:50Yes, like and and and be coming up with things like that.
- 32:53I would never even clock is like I'm like the luckiest it's.
- 32:57So helpful. And like, I feel, do you feel
- 32:59that way? Like when you're collaborating
- 33:00on your music too, when you have new writers and new songs?
- 33:03There's like nothing better 'cause like, don't get me wrong,
- 33:06I, I love my ideas and sometimes I'm like stubbornly like, this
- 33:09is what we're doing and that's fair.
- 33:10I am a diva in that way. And that's completely I'm aware
- 33:12of that. Me too, but like there is
- 33:15nothing better than when I get in a room with people and
- 33:19they're like, they like say something.
- 33:21I'm like, like, yeah, like it's like it.
- 33:24Makes it feels good. Yeah, it's like when you, Oh my
- 33:26God, that beautiful collaboration thing of like, let
- 33:29me one up. You like let me.
- 33:30Oh. My God, best idea wins.
- 33:32And then it's like it's. All towards like making the best
- 33:34possible thing you can make. 100% which is.
- 33:36Really exciting and fun. It so is like I'm a honestly,
- 33:39that's something I had to learn was like checking the ego at the
- 33:41door 'cause I was, I'm like what you were saying.
- 33:43I was so stubborn and diva where I'm like, no, this is my idea.
- 33:46This is the concept and here's how it's going to be written.
- 33:49And I actually wrote all of it, but I would love the validation
- 33:51for you to. Tell of wanting to write
- 33:53everything is like. You can make a better thing by
- 33:55like. It's a million percent true,
- 33:57like serious, like so big shout out to all my collaborators
- 34:00because it's exactly that. It's like best idea wins.
- 34:01And at the end of the day, this is what I learned through the
- 34:03process for myself. It's like what's going to make
- 34:06the Best Song is what we're going to do.
- 34:08We need to do what's best for the song.
- 34:09It's not even about me anymore. Like I'm a vessel at this point.
- 34:11It's what's best for the song, so I think that's so exciting
- 34:15and restoring to. Hear it's fun, yeah.
- 34:17It's super fun. That's so good.
- 34:19Also, side tangent, you've actually written with my
- 34:22publicist boyfriend before. Liam.
- 34:24Yeah, guys, he wanted to come to set, but he couldn't to.
- 34:27I love you, Liam. Yes.
- 34:29Hi, Liam. We'll come.
- 34:31We'll we'll hang out. But yeah, that's so cool.
- 34:34Congrats on Atlantic. And honestly, you, I was
- 34:36watching another interview that you had done and you were
- 34:39actually saying this time last year, you're still waitressing.
- 34:41Yeah, I, I can't remember what was the last.
- 34:43No, I mean, up until July, I was waitressing.
- 34:48And honestly, I remember I had just moved to a different
- 34:50restaurant and I remember my last training day at the
- 34:54restaurant, I got my label deal offer.
- 34:58Oh my God. And I was like, sitting there
- 35:00like, like. You're like, wait, I'm clocked.
- 35:03In right now, I showed it to the person who was training me and I
- 35:06had finished you. I feel really bad.
- 35:08I like I had finished all my training like this was my final
- 35:10training and I was like, I just got I just got a a major label
- 35:13label deal. I was like, I don't know,
- 35:14because I didn't want to make a decision out of like desperation
- 35:17of like being like too excited and rushing.
- 35:18You're smart. For that I would have been like
- 35:20peace Girl. I was like, I was like, I don't
- 35:24know, like I got it. Like I'm, I'm not sure if I'm
- 35:25going to do it. And he was like, what are you
- 35:28taught? Like you're not going to work
- 35:29here. Like why am I training you?
- 35:31It was like we were laughing about it.
- 35:33That's awesome. But I wanted to be like very
- 35:35level headed about my. Decision.
- 35:36Well, you're smart. Yeah, no, yeah, up until.
- 35:40You made the right choice. July I I I think so too.
- 35:42Absolutely. That's so recent, guys.
- 35:45We're filming this in June. Yeah, yeah, like.
- 35:47Not even a year ago. It's, Oh my God, it's June.
- 35:50Yeah. So it's almost been a year.
- 35:51Wow, isn't that great. Wait, when did you sign?
- 35:53In officially, I think I signed, it was probably like August.
- 35:57August, Yeah, something around there.
- 35:59Yeah, something. So it's all, it's all it's like
- 36:00the different levels of it. It's like a long process you.
- 36:02Know it's such a long process. Oh my gosh.
- 36:05And you've accomplished so much in your current tenure, too.
- 36:07It's yeah, everything is moved really fast, which which is the
- 36:11luxury of it is like before it was like there's so much when
- 36:14you're doing things with like a smaller team and, you know, less
- 36:17resources, it's like you kind of have to like give yourself the
- 36:20time to like build up and get it ready and like.
- 36:22Make the swing. So yeah.
- 36:25It's fun though, because it's like even now it's like the EPS
- 36:27out and you, you get the luxury of like, oh, I can write some
- 36:30more like. You can write more, you can talk
- 36:31about it. That's so exciting.
- 36:35Oh my gosh, that's crazy though, because then you were you
- 36:38releasing music like as an independent artist and then like
- 36:42you're waitressing like I can't believe you're everything was so
- 36:45before even you went to Atlantic and I want to talk about this,
- 36:49you were releasing such great, incredible quality music like as
- 36:53an independent artist, right? Like and also working a job.
- 36:57Yeah. How?
- 36:58I can't even imagine that. I loved it.
- 37:00I I literally went to a restaurant the other night and I
- 37:03was like, I kind of miss waitressing.
- 37:04Like I loved waitressing. Oh my God, it was so fun.
- 37:07And I don't know, I think there's.
- 37:09Such a good attitude. You have such a good personality
- 37:11and like attitude. That's why good things happen
- 37:12for you. I love I I think that the way
- 37:17you do one thing is the way you do everything.
- 37:19So really, if you show up to your waitress job and you're
- 37:23like, I'm bigger than this, whatever.
- 37:26Like I I think that that every type of energy is infectious.
- 37:32Oh my gosh. The person that you might be
- 37:34working at waitress shop could be like moving to a different
- 37:36career and they'll remember your bad attitude at your sorry.
- 37:40Oh my God, no, that's I'm controversial.
- 37:42No, I'm like, no, no, because I'm like soaking in everything
- 37:44you're saying. Like it's like God speaking to
- 37:47you because like, that was me. I used to teach children like
- 37:51before I started my career in entertainment, But I I remember
- 37:56being in the classrooms and looking at all the students and
- 37:58looking at my coworkers and being like, they even know I'm
- 38:01famous. They don't know I'm a star.
- 38:03And that was what I felt, Yeah. And then I was like, I would
- 38:06talk to my boss and if you like, you don't even.
- 38:08Know it's like the it's like the Lady Gaga thing.
- 38:10If she was like, I was famous before I was famous.
- 38:12Like that's how me felt. I didn't need the like proof of
- 38:15it like I was already famous. I can't really sound like
- 38:17embarrassed. That's so funny.
- 38:18I really felt that. I love it be delulu.
- 38:21It worked, Lulu. It.
- 38:22Worked Lulu, but you're right about that attitude thing like
- 38:24you're right. I wonder what those coworkers
- 38:26think of me now. Actually, I didn't carry myself
- 38:28like I was famous though. I was just in my head.
- 38:30I was like. Well, that is the fun thing.
- 38:31I think there was also a thing in my brain that I kind of
- 38:34loved. I loved showing up in my outfit
- 38:36and be and I wouldn't talk about anything music wise like I
- 38:40wouldn't there are you're. Such a joy.
- 38:43Oh my God. Thank you.
- 38:44Annoying. No, no, no, no.
- 38:47I'm so annoying. I'm like all I want to do is.
- 38:50I guess I, I think there was like a fun of it for me.
- 38:53Like occasionally I couldn't keep it to myself.
- 38:55Yeah, like if it were something that he just really wanted to
- 38:57talk. About wait, so you just show up
- 38:58to work. Let's say you just put out the
- 39:00Texas prima Donna and you still show up to work and go like,
- 39:02hey. Yeah, I loved it.
- 39:04I felt like Hannah Montana. We're so.
- 39:07Girl. Wait.
- 39:08We. Are I felt like Hannah Montana
- 39:10and I loved. I loved that.
- 39:13And it was so fun to like go in and like, like clock in.
- 39:18I love my job of like I walk in, someone tells me what to do, I
- 39:22do it. I clock out.
- 39:23I don't have to think about anything.
- 39:24That's nice. I loved it.
- 39:25I love it. I miss it a lot.
- 39:26I like. I literally went to a
- 39:28restaurant. Yeah.
- 39:29And I was like, I miss waitressing.
- 39:30Like it's so. Fun.
- 39:31You know what it was so refreshing.
- 39:33I watched an interview that you did on the carpet at the AMA S
- 39:35and for how excited you were and like how great for you were to
- 39:38be there it's it was genuinely so refreshing.
- 39:42I was like, Oh my gosh, what a nice personality.
- 39:44Especially in the music industry.
- 39:45It's it's toughy out here. Like, you know, I'm sure, I'm
- 39:48sure your team could tell you, like working with a bunch of
- 39:50different artists could be challenging, right?
- 39:51And it's just nice to work with someone nice.
- 39:53Yeah, it's nice to work with. Someone nice, you know, I, yeah,
- 39:55I think above everything. Wait, her team's like giggling
- 39:59in the corner. I feel like, I don't know, I
- 40:05love all of the things I do like.
- 40:07I love acting, I love dancing, I love singing, I love writing.
- 40:09I love all those things. But I think above all of those
- 40:11things, I love people and I love moments, so.
- 40:17Yeah. Is that something you were
- 40:18saying in all those interviews? You're like, any opportunity to
- 40:20do something with people in person is like, nice.
- 40:22For you, that's so lovely. And I think that like this is
- 40:25one of my biggest quotes that I try to like live by.
- 40:27It's like how you spend your days is how you spend your life.
- 40:30So it's like say, like I'm obviously having a great time
- 40:34here, but like if I'm if I'm just like collecting moments
- 40:37where I'm like having a good time, then I'm having then my
- 40:40life is fun like, and I like my life.
- 40:43That's so good. I'm having a really good time
- 40:45right now. This is so nice.
- 40:46I mean, I was really excited because like huge fan of course,
- 40:48but like this is so lovely. You just grounded me for a
- 40:51second and I was like, wait, it's happening right now.
- 40:53Because obviously I'm going to rewatch this episode 1,000,000
- 40:55times, but like, now, we're doing it right now.
- 40:57Yeah, it's fun. It's funny too, because like
- 40:59even as this, it's like I'm thinking about how I'm sitting.
- 41:03I'm like, you know, you like you think about other things, but
- 41:05it's like, this is fun. Like we just get to talk about
- 41:08music and we get to talk with each other and it's like, this
- 41:11is a fun moment. So it's like I try to root
- 41:13myself and really appreciate it as it's happening.
- 41:15Like seriously, genuinely is such a great out.
- 41:17I'm so excited for this episode to come out for everyone.
- 41:19It's here and listen like I'm really inspired.
- 41:21I'm learning a lot. I feel like you're, you're
- 41:23grounding me so much too. It feels good.
- 41:26I'm happy. That makes me happy to hear.
- 41:28I'm having a lot of fun. Good.
- 41:30Me too. I'm having so much fun.
- 41:31And we're not. We even get to the parts I want
- 41:33to get to yet. So I'm like, wait, imagine.
- 41:34I love it, but OK. So how's the transition going
- 41:37from independent artists to the side artists?
- 41:38Everything starts moving a lot faster.
- 41:40Yeah. It is it's.
- 41:41It's different. It's similar in the same some
- 41:44ways. It's different in a lot of other
- 41:46ways. It's been a nice transition
- 41:49because like I said, like a lot of the songs that are coming out
- 41:53now, I wrote pre dating being signed.
- 41:58So it's been this really nice like transition.
- 42:01The songs that you were working on.
- 42:02Yeah, I was like, I have this EP, like I want to put this EP
- 42:05out. And so it was like, it's been
- 42:07this nice blend of. Absolutely.
- 42:09Like it feels natural. Yeah, and I, and I didn't want
- 42:12to be like, oh, I'm changing everything, right.
- 42:15Like because I, I wanted to like this was like a, a continuation
- 42:19of like the predating signing and now.
- 42:23And I think that that's been really beautiful because also
- 42:26like there's so many different things that came into play.
- 42:28Like obviously the way I did visuals and stuff was all very,
- 42:31very different. And so it was fun to have things
- 42:34like rooted in like the like, I think it was like life before,
- 42:37like be. It's nice to see like the
- 42:39difference too. I mean, honestly, the TSCU
- 42:43Tiffany Stringer Cinematic Universe is so good and
- 42:45expensive right now. Like we're going to get into it
- 42:48of course, but the entire EP is a visual EP.
- 42:51Yeah. And and that was the fun.
- 42:52That was like where all the new came in with the label.
- 42:54It's like, it's like, you could do that now.
- 42:55I could do it. And so it's like that's where I
- 42:57kind of like stepped into the newness and like, now I'm
- 43:00getting into like the music of the newness in this chapter.
- 43:02I don't know if that makes sense.
- 43:03No, it completely makes sense. I mean, you're still so fresh.
- 43:06Yeah, like literally not. Literally just.
- 43:08It literally just happened. You just dropped the EV 2.
- 43:11That's so crazy because, and we were talking about before, but
- 43:13you're working the same producers and the same people
- 43:15that you worked with prior to even signing.
- 43:16That's awesome that you brought them with you on to a major
- 43:19label and start keeping them working.
- 43:21I'm lucky that they wanted to keep, you know, I.
- 43:23Mean. They're so incredible.
- 43:24Shout. Out yeah, shout out to them.
- 43:26Jack Riley. Who's he like he I worked with a
- 43:28lot of new people like in writing the songs and then
- 43:31because they were all so different I I brought it back to
- 43:33my producer Jack and we kind of like looked at everything and I
- 43:36was like, this is what I like made a deck and I was like, this
- 43:38is what I think we need like strings we need, you know,
- 43:42pedal. So guitar.
- 43:43I think that we need to like put these things and then they'll
- 43:45glue together. Wait, what's the Zodiac?
- 43:46Sign I'm a Virgo. I was like, that is so Virgo.
- 43:49That is awesome. I'm a Virgo.
- 43:51You're a Virgo. I make decks too.
- 43:52I do the exact same thing. I'm like, how do we tie these
- 43:53things together? Everything you're saying, I was
- 43:55like, wait, what's your Zodiac sign, Virgo?
- 43:57She is. Virgo boots.
- 43:58OK, period. Sorry, go ahead.
- 44:00Yes, tie everything together the string quartet like she's she's
- 44:03been on your project. Yeah.
- 44:04Then this is like, I was like, if I can do a string, I wanna do
- 44:06strings, you're gonna do a string.
- 44:08And so that was like there were certain elements that weren't on
- 44:11all of the demos that I was like, if we put these, 'cause I
- 44:13remember I was like playing the songs and I was like, trust the
- 44:16vision. Like it will make sense.
- 44:18Yes, going to make sure it makes sense.
- 44:20And it was those things that I really want to glue it in
- 44:23together to make sure that they all, because you know, they are
- 44:26different but they have elements that are similar.
- 44:29And so, yeah, I brought it to Jack and we like reworked a lot
- 44:32of things. And I mean in structure wise,
- 44:34they stayed pretty much the same.
- 44:36But you wanted to be cohesive, feel like it's all in the same
- 44:38world. Especially expanding from the
- 44:40Texas prima Donna, too. Yeah.
- 44:42And so it needed like elements that were in Texas, prima Donna
- 44:45and everything like that. So I'm really happy with how it
- 44:47all came together because it feels like we the thing I
- 44:50intended to do, which is. Always.
- 44:52Isn't that so satisfying? It's such a journey and.
- 44:56It's fun to see something in your mind and then it comes to
- 44:58like. That's what that's my favorite
- 45:00part. I think I want, I want to ask
- 45:01you about this because for me, I genuinely love the process.
- 45:05I love the beginning of a song. I love writing it.
- 45:07I love working through it. I love recording it and getting
- 45:09the final product. Like I actually really love the
- 45:11process. Like how do you feel when you're
- 45:13creating a song? Like do you just want the end
- 45:14product or are you like having the time of your life in the
- 45:16Stew? Stew where we.
- 45:17At in different chapters, like in different phases of it, I
- 45:20feel different types of way. I actually think that the
- 45:22hardest part for me is the very beginning.
- 45:24Like when I It's funny because I am such a girl of like I like
- 45:31having a path, I like something to aim for.
- 45:34So Virgo it's. Very.
- 45:35It's so I'm also on like a triple Virgo.
- 45:37I have Virgo sun, Virgo Moon and Virgo Mercury.
- 45:40Oh my God. Virgo down.
- 45:41You really? Oh my God, you really are.
- 45:43It's it's crazy, but. No, it's so good.
- 45:46I love it. I'm living for it.
- 45:48But yeah, it's like, so the before I get the North Star, I'm
- 45:53like, what is it like I'm like. Where?
- 45:56What am I even? What do you?
- 45:57Aim for like what is the goal? Like that is like actually kind
- 45:59of like hard for me to just like play.
- 46:03And so I'm learning how to like let myself just play without
- 46:06trying to be like, well, what does it mean?
- 46:08Like who am I? So that is always the most
- 46:11difficult part. And but then once I start, like
- 46:14once I start making my deck and building out the world of it,
- 46:18I'm like, oh, we're having fun. Like it's so much fun because
- 46:21it's fun. I can like, come back to it and
- 46:23nurture. It and it's like something that
- 46:26we can really integrate into like the whole movie, movie
- 46:29aesthetic and everything with this project.
- 46:31And I'm just, I'm so excited and into all of it.
- 46:35That's so exciting. It'll be fun.
- 46:36I'm excited to see like where things go, which I think is like
- 46:40always I come, you know, you make a prod project and like you
- 46:44finish it and then you start over again.
- 46:46And that's a beautiful thing. That's like, OK, I'm learning
- 46:48how to let myself have the fun of like that's just try things
- 46:52and then I love. I'm really hang off everything
- 46:55you're saying like I everything saying is like I'm just learning
- 46:58a lot. It's fun.
- 46:59It's fun to talk about. It's.
- 47:01So fun to talk about. I'm so into like I actually feel
- 47:03there's a slight guilt I have in the back of my head and like I
- 47:06already know this episodes just for me because I'm just.
- 47:09Well, that's like, I honestly think that in the music, like if
- 47:12I'm making the thing that's just for me, it's like it ends up
- 47:16resonating with everyone. 100% that's what I usually tell when
- 47:19I'm in my sessions. I'm like listen, not looking for
- 47:21a hit. I'm literally just trying to do
- 47:23something. I would love to hear in the car
- 47:25something I want to listen to right?
- 47:26It's just the best like I agree, way to approach things in my
- 47:30opinion. I definitely agree.
- 47:31I just it feels, it just feels good.
- 47:33It feels right and natural. So you are assigned to your
- 47:38manager. How long have you been working
- 47:39with him? So I have 3 managers.
- 47:41I first started out with Miss Roxy Brad, who's right over
- 47:44there and she's. So sweet.
- 47:46She is awesome. We met her down.
- 47:48Yeah, Diva. Diva and we met at a Taco night
- 47:53in 2023. That's so fun and random.
- 47:57We're coming up on our three-year for anniversary.
- 47:59And yeah, we met our Taco night and we started out like as
- 48:04friends. We would talk about boys.
- 48:06We read tarot cards. And we wouldn't.
- 48:08I should brought my dog I know like I love.
- 48:10That I should have brought you know what's fun I literally when
- 48:11I was leaving my house and I was like I I don't know why I was
- 48:14like sitting and I was like should I bring this?
- 48:15I never do. I didn't bring it So sorry.
- 48:17Next time y'all come back. Yeah, but we, we like, we're
- 48:20friends, which is great because I had never really, I had never
- 48:23had a manager. And so it was great because I
- 48:25found everything independently. Yeah.
- 48:27And I'd like done like two week trials with people, but nothing
- 48:30ever stuck. And it was great because Roxy
- 48:32and I had this beautiful foundation of friendship.
- 48:34Awesome. So it was like I trusted her as
- 48:37she's an amazing human. Like like a good human.
- 48:39And then when we started working together, it was like, oh hey
- 48:42girl, it out. Like I would love that.
- 48:44Getting business done? Hell yeah.
- 48:46And then we had been working together for about a year,
- 48:50right? But Oh yeah, because we were
- 48:52friends for a year, then we worked together for a year and
- 48:55then we brought on 2 new people to the team.
- 48:58It's Anthony and Jason. They're amazing.
- 49:00And so we started working with them at the end of last year.
- 49:02But we had been talking with them for a little bit and it's
- 49:05great because it feels like we had always kind of talked about
- 49:07wanting to bring other people in because we, you know, we're
- 49:10learning, right? Like every day we're learning
- 49:12something new and there's so much we don't know and we want
- 49:15to figure out. And so we started working.
- 49:17Just so much and so. Quickly and everything.
- 49:19Moves quickly it. Moves really, really fast.
- 49:21And so it's we brought them onto the team and it was like this
- 49:23beautiful thing of like I always joke when I talk if he was like,
- 49:27me and Roxy walk in a minute. Oh, I love it.
- 49:29And then they're like. Oh, the bricks.
- 49:31Actually like, not like that, but like, it just feels.
- 49:34Like that because you feel like you have like a little girly
- 49:35feminine energy, yeah. It's like this beautiful like
- 49:39like symbiosis we all have. I love that.
- 49:42So what an? Interesting dynamic.
- 49:43It's fun. I want to see that, yeah,
- 49:45they're cool because I feel like my team's like so feminine woman
- 49:49heavy that I'm like, but that's the the power from me where I'm
- 49:52like, yeah. We're coming in.
- 49:54It's it's nice. It's like, I feel like we're all
- 49:56tapped into like the, the, the business side and the creative
- 49:59side of it. So we can like we have our
- 50:00little group message that we like, you know, just talk about
- 50:03everything. It's like that is.
- 50:04So fun. You're a fun person.
- 50:06I feel like I'm so down to business and so serious.
- 50:09Like I'm like Syriana. You're fine.
- 50:11What are you talking about? Oh my gosh, When it comes to
- 50:13like work and career things, I think I'm very like, I'm so.
- 50:17I think that that's fun. It's fun.
- 50:19It's fun for me because we're Virgos.
- 50:22Because we're Virgos. Oh my gosh, that that is
- 50:25exciting for me. Well, that's so cool.
- 50:27Like, honestly, it manifested that.
- 50:29Especially doing it independently and alone for such
- 50:31a long time. Yeah.
- 50:33And I, I'm, I love, I love that side of things too.
- 50:35So it was like learning. Learning that kind of stuff, I
- 50:38think helped me make decisions of how to bring in the right
- 50:41people. And it's good to be picky, too.
- 50:43Yeah. And, and I, I think you when you
- 50:47have been in the weeds of like learning how to do things you
- 50:51can make better decisions on like whether someone else is
- 50:55doing, I don't know. But like, yeah, I just feel like
- 50:58I had more confidence in myself in that decision making process.
- 51:01And I trust the people I'm around and I know that they know
- 51:04better than me. Like I, I trust them with that.
- 51:07So. But yeah, it's fun.
- 51:09Oh. My gosh, that's super exciting.
- 51:10I love business. I hate business.
- 51:12It's fun. I like it.
- 51:13Oh my God, join my team. I just want to like.
- 51:17Teehee. Yeah, that's fine.
- 51:19Giggle around. I love both.
- 51:21I think 1 without the other I wouldn't.
- 51:23I mean, you know, I. Quickly learned that they ghost
- 51:27so deeply, hand in hand. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 51:29And like, that's something I'd never expected actually when I
- 51:32started, which I'm. So I'm so grateful for my team
- 51:34because I'm just like, thank God they handle everything for.
- 51:36Me, yeah. 'Cause I'm just like.
- 51:38I just, I will say like, yeah, there are aspects of it that I
- 51:41don't like and I'm very grateful to my beautiful, wonderful team
- 51:44that I don't have to do anymore and.
- 51:47Oh my God, same. But it's like fun to just like
- 51:50Gav about it all and stuff. Oh.
- 51:52That's fun. Put me in Group chats.
- 51:53Yeah, I want to see. OK, so you've mentioned before,
- 51:58I think you've mentioned that Halsey has been a great support
- 52:01for you. Like what's how is what's my
- 52:04question here? Like what?
- 52:06What has the support? What's the support looking like
- 52:08from Halsey? Beautiful question.
- 52:10I was like how do I phrase this? I want to ask really badly.
- 52:13I yeah, she is is awesome. And she's incredible.
- 52:18Obviously I'm a fan. Obviously she's incredible and
- 52:22she actually is who connected me with my other two managers that
- 52:26joined the team. So yeah, she followed me on
- 52:28Instagram. I remember it.
- 52:30I remember. Wait, I'm gagged.
- 52:31How's he followed you when this is before?
- 52:33Just like out of the blue. And I remember I was watching a
- 52:36presidential debate and I like, checked my phone.
- 52:38I was like, wait, he's with my boyfriend.
- 52:40I was like Danny. I was like, how's he just
- 52:42followed me? And I was like sitting there,
- 52:44like, what do I say? And I sent her a message and I
- 52:47was like, obviously I think you're amazing.
- 52:49And she's like, I think you're killing it.
- 52:51Like you're so cool. And I was like, and at the time,
- 52:55Anthony, who's her manager and now my manager as well, followed
- 52:59me and I sent him a message and I was like, you and I get copy
- 53:02and we just started. Becoming friends also.
- 53:05It's just like, sometimes it's just like fun to hang out with
- 53:08people. And it's fun to hang out with.
- 53:09People so it's like, I don't know, you never know what it's
- 53:11going to spiral into, but it's. Like if someone's following you,
- 53:14if someone. 'S following you, they real
- 53:16recognized as real. So like period.
- 53:19So no, that's like your reaction to how is he following you?
- 53:22I don't I don't even know. I never noticed you followed me.
- 53:25Actually, I never because you followed.
- 53:26I followed you when I saw bullet and then at some point you
- 53:30didn't follow back in time. And then at some point I saw you
- 53:32did follow me. But you know how I found out
- 53:35what? I went to your profile and I
- 53:37just checked. I was like and.
- 53:38You saw it. I saw because.
- 53:39I didn't get a notification or nothing.
- 53:41That's so funny. I was like, Oh my God.
- 53:44Yes, I had already known who you were before.
- 53:46Like, I mean, I knew that we were doing this interview, but
- 53:48I've seen you before. You had I'm so Gaggiana.
- 53:51What? That's so crazy.
- 53:53The universe knew because like, your name has come up in so many
- 53:56of my sessions. It's so funny.
- 53:58My producers would walk in to the session and on the laptop I
- 54:02would have either Damn Good Actress or supernova the music
- 54:05videos just just on the screen. Not even for anything other than
- 54:08I'm gagged. I was just gags.
- 54:10I was like, girl, these are everything.
- 54:13And they'd be like, oh, what's this?
- 54:14I'm like, let's just watch this and let's start the session.
- 54:16Like let's all enjoy this. Really quick. 100% and it really
- 54:21helps. So thank you.
- 54:22Thank you for that. Well, that's awesome.
- 54:24I have AI have a thing about Halsey.
- 54:26I've never said out loud. I'm going to say it.
- 54:28So I was at the Emmys last year and we went to the bathroom
- 54:32together. Wait, there was a hallway to the
- 54:34bathroom? So we were like going to the
- 54:36bathroom and there was like a line or whatever, right?
- 54:38So we were both just standing there.
- 54:39And I obviously knew it was Halsey.
- 54:40So I was just standing there. I was like, just be cool.
- 54:42Don't be like weird or anything. Like you're at the fucking
- 54:45Emmys, you're not going to geek out right now.
- 54:48And she called me Freddy. As she should, and I.
- 54:51Was like, I was like. Fucking You were being cool and
- 54:54you were perfect. I guess I was like, Oh my God,
- 54:56thank you so much. What's your name nonchalant just
- 54:58kidding. No, she went to the bathroom and
- 55:00her fiance was standing there were both were just like I'm not
- 55:03really so. You did.
- 55:04You played it cool. I played it way too cool and
- 55:08then when she got out of the bathroom I was like, Drive is
- 55:10one of my favorite songs ever. I love you.
- 55:11Thank you. Bye.
- 55:12Enjoy the Emmys. That's.
- 55:14Sweet. Oh, she's awesome.
- 55:15She's so cool. Yeah, she's so talented.
- 55:17Too. I'm very grateful for her.
- 55:18Yeah. Oh my gosh, that's so cool that
- 55:20I can't. That's really cool.
- 55:21She discovered you and then she like everything just kind of
- 55:24happened. She's generous and kind and
- 55:25like, yeah, she's a good person. Yeah, she is.
- 55:28And her music's so good, too. She's amazing.
- 55:30I want to get into the Texas prima Donna.
- 55:32Yeah. Oh my God.
- 55:33What a project. Very ambitious.
- 55:35Yeah, it was I I actually. Bombastic.
- 55:37Bold. Yeah, it's funny.
- 55:39I wasn't really like thinking about that.
- 55:40I think I was just in a crazy time in my life that it was just
- 55:43like what came out. The company was crazy all night.
- 55:47No thoughts when I made that one I was just vibing.
- 55:49You're just like, here it is. This is what we're doing.
- 55:52You know what, I I'm sure you've clocked this as an artist, but
- 55:54like, you know the parallel, like with the title track, like
- 55:56you were talking about, like I'm definitely going to misquote
- 55:59this. Please correct me with the exact
- 56:01thing, but you're talking about like you're not going to see me
- 56:02cry. I don't want to cry.
- 56:04And then in Damn. Good actress, yeah, and then
- 56:06I'm. Like in the bridge, literally
- 56:10because you're like, hush hush. I mean, I, I like that so much.
- 56:14Yeah. I think it, I actually, I think
- 56:16you're the first person to like really talk about this dynamic
- 56:19between both the EPS. Really, I'm so honoured.
- 56:21I want to be the one to do it. Yeah, I, I think I kind of
- 56:25always, it's funny, these EPS might be like both my parents,
- 56:29like the different versions like that I've received from my
- 56:32parents. Like my my dad is very much like
- 56:35a person of like get up, get to work.
- 56:38Do it. That was the doctor's.
- 56:40Dream of like being a baddie but he's just like get just just do
- 56:43it like and I'm like OK yeah and then my mom yeah and my mom is
- 56:47very like it's OK to feel like it's.
- 56:49OK to cry. And so like there are these
- 56:52sides of me that. I the dichotomy of it is insane,
- 56:54especially seeing between like what we mentioned before, like
- 56:57an A side and AB side. And it's just like literally
- 56:59like this story of like the damn good actress.
- 57:01It's like you were you playing a character when you're the Texas
- 57:04prima Donna. I I think they're.
- 57:06They're still you. They're still me.
- 57:07It's just like a dramatized version of me.
- 57:09Because you know, when you're talking about in press, I
- 57:11noticed that you're literally personifying these people.
- 57:13You're like, she is like we talk about the Lone Starlet and I'm
- 57:16like. Yeah, because I think it's like
- 57:17fun. I think that that's like the
- 57:19theatre and me is like, I feel more safety in performing when
- 57:23it's like, not really me even. Though it is because then it
- 57:27also gives you like that safety net of being like, love it or
- 57:30hate it, it doesn't matter. This is like a version of me.
- 57:32Character. Yeah, and I think that I, I feel
- 57:35more freedom to express myself when it is a character.
- 57:39Like if I when I was in theater and I would like go up on stage
- 57:42just like, I don't know, the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland or
- 57:46whatever, It's like I'm not me. So there's like there's no it's
- 57:50like fun to. Play.
- 57:51Yeah. So I like keeping things in
- 57:54that. Way you literally dive into it
- 57:56so much deeper on the song. Damn good actress.
- 57:59It's exactly that like how incredible I love this like
- 58:02self-awareness that you have in your pop writing and I also just
- 58:04like you as an artist where you're like very much like
- 58:07observational. You're also very reflective.
- 58:10I think that's super rare in pop music.
- 58:11This is what I like in pop music, like not to nerd out, but
- 58:13I like it when like you have a really, really, really good
- 58:16song, but you can also feel something.
- 58:18You can you can also learn a lot about the artist through it.
- 58:20And that's how I felt when I was listening to the Lone Starlet.
- 58:23And honestly, I think the the what's it called the flip side
- 58:27of like so bombastic, the Texas prima Donna and so confident and
- 58:31bold and like the cockiness. And then now we have like the
- 58:34one Starlin. It has these soft, really
- 58:36vulnerable moments. Like a lot of them actually even
- 58:39even a banger, the greatest song of all time, Supernova, it's
- 58:43still so vulnerable. It's like really, it's like
- 58:45really admitting. It's like, can we handle this?
- 58:47Like, are we really? I think that life, it for me is
- 58:51always like a dance between these two sides of myself when
- 58:54I'm like feeling really hyper confident and when I'm like,
- 58:57hey, I actually don't know what I'm doing at all.
- 58:59And you? Captured that so well and damn
- 59:00good actress. I appreciate that.
- 59:01Yeah. I, I, I think I'm always itching
- 59:04to like, embody, like I think we all in a lot of ways feel
- 59:10different sides of ourselves. And like, my goal is always try
- 59:12to find a way for those parts of myself to coexist because
- 59:15they're all true. They do coexist and I think like
- 59:18like with your projects, it's like this is so you and it's
- 59:21cool to know too, because then I was wondering because like when
- 59:23you're talking about it, when I was doing my research boots on
- 59:25you, I was like, you're talking about them like they're
- 59:27characters and they're like, you know, different extensions.
- 59:29I'm like, how personal are these characters and beings to you?
- 59:32Like you're still writing them. These are still things that you
- 59:34feel. Yeah.
- 59:35And I think that my music will always be like that.
- 59:39And I'm still discovering like where it goes in the future if
- 59:41it's like a continuation, literally of the narrative.
- 59:43But like, I think I really wanted to set myself up for the
- 59:47freedom of being able to like, OK, I'm playing this character
- 59:50now and I'm doubling down on this character.
- 59:52And I kind of want like the future of my projects to kind of
- 59:55embody like, oh, I'm being this character because it's
- 59:58digestible. It's like, you know, it's like
- 1:00:00we know what we're getting. It's like watching a movie, You
- 1:00:02know? It's like I'm you're.
- 1:00:03Like holding the hand for the audience too.
- 1:00:05Yeah, like we're going to go step into character.
- 1:00:08Yeah. I love that.
- 1:00:09I was like, so this is a question since you walked
- 1:00:11through on set that I was like, I'm going to literally save for
- 1:00:13the show, but I really want to know.
- 1:00:15So like we have the Texas prima Donna with the lone starlet.
- 1:00:18Like are we thinking the next project, the next continuation,
- 1:00:20is going to be the adjective noun?
- 1:00:23It's so funny. I, I didn't even clock that.
- 1:00:26I was like doing that. Oh my.
- 1:00:28Gosh, I thought I was like book. Guys, well, I mean, I was, I was
- 1:00:31doing it, but like I wasn't aiming for.
- 1:00:34That. Yeah, I, it was like after the
- 1:00:36fact when I found when I came up with the Lone Starlet name, I
- 1:00:39was like, yeah, it's like I was like, it's perfect.
- 1:00:43And I was so geeked about it, but I wasn't really clocking
- 1:00:47that. It was a maybe it was kind of a
- 1:00:51continuation, but I, I was kind of just telling my story and
- 1:00:54then realizing it was a continuation like I.
- 1:00:56Mean it's a real true story like you a girl from Texas comes out
- 1:00:59to LA the lone. Star, this is what I'm going
- 1:01:01through. Yeah, this is what you're going.
- 1:01:02Through and I was feeling lonely I was like spending time with
- 1:01:05myself yeah I was feeling a lot and I was just like, OK, this is
- 1:01:07this is just what's happening right now and so it's like
- 1:01:10interesting to like move forward with that of like where it goes
- 1:01:13because like it it's just really just a drama version of like
- 1:01:17whatever's. Happening.
- 1:01:18I mean, the visuals that you have are so dramatic and like
- 1:01:21cinematic, and I think that's one that's really cool that
- 1:01:24every song had a visual. I'm so excited.
- 1:01:27I loved your movie premieres that you did in LA.
- 1:01:31Texas was in new. York.
- 1:01:32New York I really wish I was the only one I I'm still kidding.
- 1:01:35I don't remember what I had I literally as a fan this one.
- 1:01:39This was no industry connect nothing you like post about
- 1:01:42IRSVPD myself didn't even tell my team.
- 1:01:45I didn't tell no one. I was like I'm showing up as a
- 1:01:47fan. I didn't even get to go I.
- 1:01:48Didn't even get to go next. One we do.
- 1:01:50I was so upset because I was so jealous because for a week, it
- 1:01:52was a week before the EP dropped and I was like, they all heard
- 1:01:55supernova because you were teasing it.
- 1:01:57Yeah, I. Don't think they all fucking
- 1:01:59they got to hear everything. I played every music video.
- 1:02:01They got to hear all the songs and Gaggy, but not to rub it in
- 1:02:04your face, but it's. OK, I have it now.
- 1:02:06I have it now. Oh my gosh, let's.
- 1:02:09I've been dancing around this. Let's talk about it.
- 1:02:10I fucking love Supernova. Yeah.
- 1:02:12Yeah. That is the greatest pop song of
- 1:02:14all time. Oh my God, I'm really proud of
- 1:02:16it. It when when we first wrote
- 1:02:18that, I was like, this is special.
- 1:02:20I. Was going to say it's special.
- 1:02:22Yeah, I knew it was special, but the it's very different than it
- 1:02:27was when we first wrote it. Like it was very.
- 1:02:30Bare the demos. Yeah, the demos of it and like
- 1:02:32the song is that the structure of it is similar, but the actual
- 1:02:36production of it was like we were pretty bare bones with it.
- 1:02:38And honestly, I played it. I did a headline show in July of
- 1:02:42last year and we played it and we had to like we were like
- 1:02:46figuring out drums. Like, it was just so bare bones.
- 1:02:49And I remember playing it and that being like the song of the
- 1:02:52night where everybody was like, well, yes, this song's really,
- 1:02:55really good. And I was like, I know, right.
- 1:02:58Like I thought so cool. But like when people would
- 1:03:00listen to the demo, they liked it, but no one was like, yeah,
- 1:03:03they. Were jumping at.
- 1:03:04It yeah, but interesting. Like once we like built it out
- 1:03:07and people heard it, they were like, oh, oh.
- 1:03:09My God this is a good You have to play it as a demo, like as a
- 1:03:10fan. I think I'll find it OK.
- 1:03:13Please I I'm I'm so curious to hear it.
- 1:03:15That song is incredible. It's fun.
- 1:03:17It's it's also fun to see how things like come to fruition.
- 1:03:20Yeah, but you always you can feel it. 100% for that and like
- 1:03:23the we were talking about the songs of it, like I was like I
- 1:03:25love the whooshing sounds and you said it was a car.
- 1:03:27I'm pretty sure I'll have to ask Jack, but I'm pretty sure it's
- 1:03:30like a car driving by that's like distorted.
- 1:03:33Literally sounds like a supernova.
- 1:03:34That's so crazy. And I love how like just, Oh my
- 1:03:37gosh, I was going to get geeky about it.
- 1:03:39I'm just going to do it. The way that the song swells so
- 1:03:42much, it gets so big, has such a big moment and then it comes to
- 1:03:46the whisper, ends with the whisper outro like.
- 1:03:48And you do it in a way it's like the beats don't even.
- 1:03:51It doesn't end there. Yeah, yeah, you got it there.
- 1:03:53Yeah, chill. I'm.
- 1:03:55Glad you loved that. I wish I could re experience
- 1:03:57listening to that song for the first time.
- 1:03:59That is so funny. Yeah.
- 1:04:00Like, because we didn't always have it like that.
- 1:04:02It was like a leader thing that I decided I wanted.
- 1:04:04To really, I love it. What's a good tie back because
- 1:04:06you're whispering in the pre? Yeah, and it was.
- 1:04:08It's technically to me when I think of supernovas like I'm
- 1:04:11crashing out inside my head because it's about like this is
- 1:04:15before me and my boyfriend said that we loved each other and it
- 1:04:18was like literally us sitting on the couch of me thinking like,
- 1:04:21you literally say it in the am I going to say it?
- 1:04:23Is he going to say it like I have no.
- 1:04:25And I would literally every moment that I was with him, I
- 1:04:27would be thinking about it and crashing out and he would just
- 1:04:30have no idea that I was thinking about it.
- 1:04:31I wouldn't say a damn thing. Like damn good actress, damn
- 1:04:33good actress. There you go.
- 1:04:34And so it was like having these intimate moments with him, but
- 1:04:38I'm like, internally, it's like crazy in my brain.
- 1:04:41Sonically, the song feels like that too.
- 1:04:43You nailed it. I cannot believe.
- 1:04:46That I can't take all the credit for it.
- 1:04:47Jack really did his big one with that.
- 1:04:49That's Shadow Jack. Like that song's so good.
- 1:04:52And like the intimacy of it. Like I think I'm in love and it
- 1:04:54scares me. Like real.
- 1:04:56That was just true. Like that was my truth.
- 1:04:58And you're like whispering. Yeah.
- 1:04:59You're like, you can't even say it.
- 1:05:00Yeah, you. Know what I?
- 1:05:01Mean. And you're saying it?
- 1:05:02Yeah. No, but I was genuinely yeah,
- 1:05:04and it was funny. I didn't know that story.
- 1:05:06Like painting the picture in the verses.
- 1:05:07Literally. On this like the TV, the
- 1:05:09soundtag on the TV girl. Yeah, I was.
- 1:05:10Just sitting there thinking it was.
- 1:05:11I think I literally wrote it the day I like.
- 1:05:13I came. I had slept over at his house
- 1:05:14and like he went to the studio and I was like, I can't stop
- 1:05:16thinking about. This.
- 1:05:17This is it. We're gonna write about this?
- 1:05:18That's crazy. What I couldn't say to him,
- 1:05:20literally, I was just writing in a song.
- 1:05:22That's amazing. I do that all the time.
- 1:05:23And he even heard your song. He heard the song before we even
- 1:05:27said I love you. And I'm like, So what do you
- 1:05:28think? You're just like, what do you
- 1:05:29think about the lyrics? Just.
- 1:05:31Something I'm working on like what do you.
- 1:05:33Think any thoughts on this deeply personal song I wrote
- 1:05:36from a real place. He's so like, he's so
- 1:05:39analytical. He's like, I like the
- 1:05:40production. Is he a Virgo?
- 1:05:41No, he's a Gemini. A Gemini.
- 1:05:43Happy birthday. Yeah, it's.
- 1:05:44Coming. Was it recent or June 11th?
- 1:05:46June 11th, June 11th. Happy birthday.
- 1:05:48Yeah, he's an artist as well. He's not an artist, but he's in
- 1:05:50music. Oh, an amazing guitar player.
- 1:05:52Oh that's sick. I love his the hair.
- 1:05:55Yeah, he's a. Baddie.
- 1:05:56Oh, and he was amazing in Supernova.
- 1:05:57Yeah, great. Performance.
- 1:05:58He's a *. Supernova, Supernova.
- 1:06:01Absolutely. Wow, that's so special,
- 1:06:03especially working with your like your literal real life
- 1:06:05partner. Yeah, you know music and you're
- 1:06:06putting in in the music video for a Sonic that you wrote about
- 1:06:09that situation. It's.
- 1:06:10Fun. Yes wait now that I have the
- 1:06:12back lore I'm like. And the music video is literally
- 1:06:14on the couch in the TV. Oh my God, you're such a
- 1:06:17visionary. Everyone.
- 1:06:20Yeah, everyone who was a part of that too.
- 1:06:21Like, I love that song. What a great song.
- 1:06:24We. I'm so curious because you have
- 1:06:27a bridge on damn good Actress, but you didn't put one in Subaru
- 1:06:29Nova. This is me being a nerd again.
- 1:06:30But yeah. Curious.
- 1:06:32I don't really think much about it.
- 1:06:35I think that there was more I needed to say in Damn Good
- 1:06:38Actress, like I was kind of giving the lore of it, but it
- 1:06:41was like I needed my moment and I literally cried in the session
- 1:06:44when I wrote that. Like it?
- 1:06:45Was damn good actress. And damn good actress.
- 1:06:46Yeah, I cried because it was like, yeah, it was like I hadn't
- 1:06:51really let myself think, feel what I felt.
- 1:06:54What if I took that chorus? Perfect.
- 1:06:57Perfect. But it's like, yeah, I, I just
- 1:07:01hadn't. I really wanted a moment where
- 1:07:04I'm like, it's OK to cry like. And it's nice to say that, too.
- 1:07:07Yeah, It's nice to admit it. It's also nice to put it in the
- 1:07:10music. And it's just a perfect tie and
- 1:07:12to what that song is and what that song means, you know what I
- 1:07:15mean? Like, and what a chorus, what a
- 1:07:19shout out to your collaborators on that.
- 1:07:21Song too. Yes, that's so good.
- 1:07:23And it's just like it really embodies what that project is.
- 1:07:27And also the intro, you know? Can I tell you something just as
- 1:07:30a fan? I clocked when I saw the track
- 1:07:31listing that you had the intro and I was like, it's going to be
- 1:07:34from the music. Video I knew, I knew.
- 1:07:35What I was like, it's going to be from the music video because
- 1:07:38you were, you had the, you had the elongated part.
- 1:07:40I was like, that's what I think it is.
- 1:07:41And when I played it, Oh my gosh, it was like 9:00 PM on the
- 1:07:45the release date. I don't even do this anymore for
- 1:07:47artists. I'm so busy.
- 1:07:48I literally was like, gotta go get in my car so I could listen
- 1:07:50to it. Sat down, played it from the
- 1:07:52top. So excited hopping.
- 1:07:53On the freeway, wow, it's so nice to like, think about you
- 1:07:57doing that, 'cause I don't do that, but it's like, nice to
- 1:08:00hear. Well, that's what I'm saying,
- 1:08:01'cause I haven't been able to do that in a while, 'cause like,
- 1:08:03I'm so busy and I don't think about it, and there haven't
- 1:08:05really been artists that excite me.
- 1:08:06That's why I keep saying refreshing.
- 1:08:07Yeah, I'm like, wait a minute, you're bringing something so
- 1:08:10new. And you know, what's interesting
- 1:08:11is with the the amount of genres and things that you dip into
- 1:08:15this project, it's like it's all interesting and it's all like
- 1:08:18very intentional, you know? I, yeah, I I like that freedom
- 1:08:22with it. That's so cool.
- 1:08:24That's really cool. That's a, that's such a great
- 1:08:26project. And the cover art, when you
- 1:08:27dropped it, I was so gagged. It's been a minute since I've
- 1:08:30been a huge fan of something. So like, I think I commented, I
- 1:08:33was so deeply gagged. I was like, shut up.
- 1:08:37I'm. So grateful, I'm really happy
- 1:08:39with how it turned out. But you shot that on one of the
- 1:08:41visuals like the. Encore.
- 1:08:42It was just a photo we took at Yeah, at the day we shot the
- 1:08:45encore and it came together and ended up being the cover art.
- 1:08:49And it was just like this journey.
- 1:08:51And once we finally, like chose that picture, I was like, oh, it
- 1:08:53was always supposed to be that picture like.
- 1:08:55Are you kidding me? It's stunning and it gives the
- 1:08:58emotion and the drama. Yeah.
- 1:08:59And also like we didn't mean for this, like the photo just got
- 1:09:02taken. And then it was like that was
- 1:09:05literally the the light in the corner is like literally the
- 1:09:08spotlight that's like just in the theater we were in.
- 1:09:10And I was like, we cropped it. I was like looking through
- 1:09:12photos of like what I wanted to be the cover art.
- 1:09:14And we saw that photo and I was like, it's literally one star.
- 1:09:18And I liked the symbolism, like the Texas Prima Donna 1 is like
- 1:09:22me, kind of like basking in the light on my face.
- 1:09:24You're giving your Goss at. Yeah, totally love.
- 1:09:27And but with this one, it's like the star is behind me and I'm
- 1:09:30looking back. Yeah.
- 1:09:32It was like, let me before I like jump into.
- 1:09:35So it's always like the symbolism of it.
- 1:09:37All right? Like I'm like, if this is like
- 1:09:39my future that I'm headed towards, like let me look back
- 1:09:41one more time and like, say the last things I need to say before
- 1:09:44I like head towards my future. It's kind of how I thought.
- 1:09:47It so gaggy, especially how you're describing this project
- 1:09:49where like an introduction before TS one that's so
- 1:09:53exciting. Oh my God, we're going to talk
- 1:09:55about TS1, but I want to keep talking about the lone starley.
- 1:09:58I love this project. I love it so much.
- 1:10:00I listen to it so much. Oh my God, I'm going to show you
- 1:10:02after this. Everyone look at my hands.
- 1:10:04So I I'm literally I'm going to show you my own repeat.
- 1:10:07I think it is supernova is my number one right now or damn
- 1:10:10good actress. They're all right there.
- 1:10:11They're all so up there. And because I I don't even
- 1:10:14listen to music. I usually just listen to my own
- 1:10:15demos because I'm trying to like make them better and whatever
- 1:10:18I'm working on it, but I always need a palate cleanser.
- 1:10:20So I'll go back to the EP and I'm like, what A.
- 1:10:22Treat for you. Thank you.
- 1:10:24It's such a treat. It's just so well done.
- 1:10:27Congratulations on the release. They're your first release with
- 1:10:29Atlantic as well. So you had said before that this
- 1:10:32project was written over the course of two years, actually
- 1:10:35worked on it during the prima Donna tech, the Texas prima
- 1:10:38Donna era. Oh.
- 1:10:38My God, I yeah. The first song that I
- 1:10:41technically wrote for The Lone Starlet was Casualty, and I
- 1:10:44wrote it around, I think it was like literally the same week
- 1:10:46that I wrote. Oh my God.
- 1:10:48And I didn't know what it was going to be like.
- 1:10:51I just honestly just kept writing.
- 1:10:53And this was like the first time I really had the, like,
- 1:10:55opportunity to be in rooms with a lot of different writers.
- 1:10:58So I was just writing, writing, writing a ton.
- 1:10:59Was so giddy about it and. Congratulations.
- 1:11:02Yeah, yeah, it was just it was cool to like to do that and then
- 1:11:06kind of look at what I kept coming back to because there
- 1:11:08were songs like I'm I'm a quantity girl, like just write.
- 1:11:12It's so fun. I.
- 1:11:14Keep saying that I'm like I want to make as much music as I can
- 1:11:16then pick the best. Yeah, pick the best and that's
- 1:11:18how I feel. You'll come back to things.
- 1:11:19You'll be like, like, I like this and I don't know why, but I
- 1:11:21keep singing it. And there's a reason thinking.
- 1:11:22About it, yeah. And so I always try to like and
- 1:11:26then I'll find the three line, you know, yeah, 100%.
- 1:11:28But it's been, yeah, two years and it all came together like I
- 1:11:31was finishing it up as I was getting signed, which is really
- 1:11:35cool. But you already have the songs
- 1:11:36and everything. And you're like, I knew what?
- 1:11:38I knew what the project was going to.
- 1:11:39Be so did was the project already like it existed and
- 1:11:43obviously not like completely polished or packaged quite yet
- 1:11:46when you're getting signed like you didn't start anything went
- 1:11:49under Atlantic that ended up making the album or the project.
- 1:11:52I think honestly, the last song I wrote was when I think I knew
- 1:12:00I was. I think I wrote it maybe in
- 1:12:01August like I was. It's about to happen.
- 1:12:03You're about. To yeah, like I know what's
- 1:12:05happening, Like I've made my decision, but they're like in
- 1:12:07the lawyer portion of it all. So it's like we're not literally
- 1:12:10in the mix yet, but I know it's happening.
- 1:12:12It's happening, yeah. So you're like wrapping up?
- 1:12:14Your yeah. And I was like, honestly, like
- 1:12:15the the well. Have you been working on music
- 1:12:17since finishing the Lone Starlet?
- 1:12:19I'm sure, of course. Yeah, yeah, I I've been doing a
- 1:12:22lot of sessions, which is fun. I took a little bit of a break
- 1:12:24as we were doing the visuals and stuff because it was like a lot
- 1:12:26of different modes. It's it's really hard.
- 1:12:27Like I always talk about this too, because I was telling my
- 1:12:29producer like when I start rolling out, you will not see
- 1:12:32me. There's no.
- 1:12:32Sessions. We're just going to roll out, so
- 1:12:34like. They're different.
- 1:12:35There is. It's very different things.
- 1:12:36And I've learned about myself that I am a compartmentalizer in
- 1:12:39my brain. So it's like, it's like, oh, I'm
- 1:12:42in this mode and it's easier to stay in this.
- 1:12:44Yeah, it's my Virgo boots. That's why the waitressing
- 1:12:45thing. You're like, OK, I just know
- 1:12:46I'm. Going to clock in, I do my
- 1:12:48thing. Clock in, do your thing.
- 1:12:49OK, let's talk about bullet. This is actually how I
- 1:12:51discovered you. Yeah.
- 1:12:52That music video was so sickening.
- 1:12:53That's crazy. I don't even like country.
- 1:12:55Proud of it. But I was just like, Oh my God,
- 1:12:56I love this song. And I love like, little.
- 1:12:59You do this in Supernova with like the car sound, which sounds
- 1:13:02like a comet to me. But then you have a bullet.
- 1:13:04And then you also have like, is is it a whip in Texas?
- 1:13:08Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, yes.
- 1:13:09I like these little quirky. It just makes it grounds the
- 1:13:13song in real life. Yes, I love that because it's
- 1:13:15like, to me, those are like the movie elements of it.
- 1:13:17It's like we are in this world and like I like the.
- 1:13:20Little things and the TV switching and supernova and the
- 1:13:23static and then like the introduction of damn good
- 1:13:27actress go on clocking so. But I love that too.
- 1:13:29I do that in my own music. That's why I'm like really
- 1:13:31impressed that I don't see it a lot.
- 1:13:32People should do it more. It feels obvious.
- 1:13:34It's fun. It's so good.
- 1:13:35But Bullet is This was incredible.
- 1:13:36So this song was inspired about your ex getting married and you
- 1:13:41found out from your psychic dream about it.
- 1:13:43Let's talk about that. I it's pretty crazy.
- 1:13:46I had a dream and it was like talking with my ex-boyfriend and
- 1:13:52my my boyfriend was there with me and I was like, yeah, in my
- 1:13:56dream. And I was like, this is weird,
- 1:13:58super weird. And I hadn't really thought
- 1:14:01about my ex in a long time because it's been a long time,
- 1:14:04right? And I was like, I woke up and I
- 1:14:08was like in a weird mood, obviously, because I was like,
- 1:14:10what is that about? Like, why did I have that dream
- 1:14:12and how rando so rando and I like go like go on Instagram,
- 1:14:17little sakies. Yes, and I am I'm not better
- 1:14:20than anyone. I also do that.
- 1:14:22And but I went and checked on his profile and I saw a video
- 1:14:27where that he had said that he got married.
- 1:14:30And I was like, what? Yeah.
- 1:14:32So it was pretty crazy. And obviously it's like a even
- 1:14:35when you're moved on like that is just like a crazy thing.
- 1:14:38So like that one could have been you or two like what have you
- 1:14:40worked out that would have? Happened processing and emotions
- 1:14:42like you don't really know what's happening within yourself
- 1:14:45yeah like I'm I'm grateful I am where I am at where I am in my
- 1:14:49life. Everything went to plan and also
- 1:14:51for him like do your thing, right?
- 1:14:53I'm grateful too be happy, but it was just such a whirlwind of
- 1:14:56emotions, right, Of course, So I had a session that day and I was
- 1:14:59actually talking with my friend that I ended up writing bullet
- 1:15:01with. She said that I don't remember
- 1:15:04this, but I was having such a bad day.
- 1:15:06Of course, like I was just like emotional.
- 1:15:08And because of that dream and finding out.
- 1:15:09Yeah, it was kind of crazy. And then I, I guess I'd push the
- 1:15:13session back like 3 hours and I don't remember this.
- 1:15:17And she was like, I thought you were kind of a diva because you
- 1:15:18like, sit back. And I was like, I don't remember
- 1:15:21this at all. Was this one that you're working
- 1:15:23with already or is this the first?
- 1:15:24Time I had met her once before, so I didn't know her and she she
- 1:15:27was like she thought it was no, she's one of my closest friend,
- 1:15:29but it was just so funny. She was like, she was like, at
- 1:15:32first I was like, why does this girl keep pushing it back?
- 1:15:33Like, what the heck? And then she was like, as soon
- 1:15:36as you got there, I was grateful that you pushed it back.
- 1:15:38Like it, we, we grew up. Yeah.
- 1:15:40Like, it was what I, what I needed to do to like, be ready.
- 1:15:43Because if I had walked in before, like processing a little
- 1:15:46bit, I wouldn't have been ready. I think you wouldn't have even
- 1:15:48been there. Yeah, you know, so I was
- 1:15:49grateful they were down for me to push it.
- 1:15:51Timing is so nice. That's really interesting.
- 1:15:53I don't think any of you by work will.
- 1:15:55Be. Then you'd be like, I don't care
- 1:15:56if you're processing, you're showing.
- 1:15:58Up at this time. And I'm like, and I will see you
- 1:15:59then. Absolutely.
- 1:16:01That's so great. That's the first song I found
- 1:16:03from you. That's actually how I discovered
- 1:16:04you. I was telling you before the
- 1:16:05show, but that song is so I don't even like country.
- 1:16:09I thought you were a country artist.
- 1:16:10So when you started teasing damn good actress, I was like, what?
- 1:16:13And I told my producers I was like, this girl I found like, I
- 1:16:16thought she was a country artist.
- 1:16:18And I was like, Oh my gosh, this is so crazy.
- 1:16:20And then you just kept surprising me.
- 1:16:22And then when he draws, I was like, this is a folk song.
- 1:16:27Yeah, it's, I don't know, I'm like, there are definitely
- 1:16:30people that would probably love for me to just like pick a lane
- 1:16:32and stick to it, but I don't know, it's just like fun, like
- 1:16:35make the best thing you can. No, I actually still feel this
- 1:16:38cohesive in the track listing of it.
- 1:16:39You know what I mean? I think it goes.
- 1:16:40From Bullet Casualty, like there are themes that I wasn't even
- 1:16:44really realizing that I was. Girl like it.
- 1:16:46It opens with the introduction and ends with the encore.
- 1:16:49And then obviously you have damn good actress, which, you know,
- 1:16:52we can consider the opener as well.
- 1:16:54Yeah. And then going into Bullet and
- 1:16:56Casualty and then Supernova. Supernova.
- 1:16:59Yeah. Yes, yes, I like that.
- 1:17:02That's so good. It really is playing out like a
- 1:17:03movie. Yeah, and it's so intentional.
- 1:17:05Oh my gosh, that's so cool. And I really like Bullet.
- 1:17:08Like I just. I'm so good.
- 1:17:10Thank. You.
- 1:17:10Yeah. I'm really, I'm really proud of
- 1:17:12that song. Woman and bullet writing that
- 1:17:15your mind what? I I got to give credit to Eva,
- 1:17:18honey. Oh my God.
- 1:17:20With that's. What's so good?
- 1:17:22She she wrote the woman line. And I was like you, genius.
- 1:17:25But like, that doesn't even rhyme.
- 1:17:26That's what makes us so good. I'm like, wait, because I love
- 1:17:29the slant rhyme. Yeah, it was fun too 'cause it
- 1:17:31was also like hamming up the like, because sometimes I have
- 1:17:34more of an accent, like especially when I go home and I
- 1:17:36hang out with my mom more like it, it like gets stronger.
- 1:17:41And so it was like fun to kind of like it kind of can rhyme.
- 1:17:45100% you know, it's crazy. Literally when I was doing my
- 1:17:47research boots there, it was like, it was like Southern charm
- 1:17:49Tiffany Stringer. And I was like, OK, and then
- 1:17:51you're like, I meet and I was like, Oh yeah, like there it is.
- 1:17:53That totally is oh so special. I also like that like the second
- 1:17:57I saw you were just I was watching a bunch of interviews
- 1:18:00and you were so magnetic and bubbly.
- 1:18:01And the second, like I saw you in the parking lot, you were
- 1:18:02like magnetic and bubbly. And I was like, I was like, this
- 1:18:06is so early, but I have to have about a lock in.
- 1:18:09Oh my gosh, literally went Paige called me to say that you guys
- 1:18:13were here. I was like, everyone, let's go.
- 1:18:16Oh my gosh, I need to show my other text.
- 1:18:18I texted the group chat, my PR group chat last night and I said
- 1:18:21this is one of my favorite artists and everyone treat her
- 1:18:24like royalty and everyone's like, got it.
- 1:18:25Yes, absolutely not. We we treat everyone like
- 1:18:27royalty. But I was like, I need everyone
- 1:18:29to know this. 1 I feel like royalty, so thank you.
- 1:18:32OK, good. I mean, please, you are royalty
- 1:18:34to me. So.
- 1:18:35OK, casualty. Yes.
- 1:18:37Oh my God, folky, this was the first one you did for this?
- 1:18:39Project. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:40And then you kept it there. You kept it folky, like as you
- 1:18:42were developing the project. You didn't think you were.
- 1:18:44It didn't like, wasn't like. We should move in this
- 1:18:47direction. This project is becoming.
- 1:18:48Like this Yeah I I love folk songs and I.
- 1:18:53You write like singer song or folky to me, like the lyric.
- 1:18:57I appreciate. That that's so special when pop
- 1:18:59writing. Yeah, it's funny because I feel
- 1:19:01like I have like, my weird little obsessions.
- 1:19:03Like I'm obsessed with like, pop artists.
- 1:19:06Me too. And you reference.
- 1:19:07You mentioned Gaga on the. Yeah, I love like, pop stars,
- 1:19:12but then there's like songs, specific songs that I love that
- 1:19:15I'm like that I've become obsessed with.
- 1:19:18And those songs are usually like a folk song.
- 1:19:20And so it was fun to like write that.
- 1:19:24And I also think that the emotion I was touching on in
- 1:19:27Casualty specifically, it is like a sentiment that you would
- 1:19:30more likely find in a folk song. Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:19:33And so I felt really belongs. Yeah.
- 1:19:35I, I think I'm always like, trying to find, like, the truth
- 1:19:36of it. And then, like, what's the Sonic
- 1:19:38way of like, letting this be as truthful as possible?
- 1:19:42I love that that's you have a lot of freedom when you're
- 1:19:44making your art, and that's so. Cool, I think that that's the
- 1:19:47best way to do it. You're right.
- 1:19:48I'm going to start doing that because I was thinking about my
- 1:19:50process like I just start with a lyric and then I think I have I
- 1:19:55have in my mind like where I want the song to go sonically,
- 1:19:57but then I make I make it fit like it has to make sense or
- 1:20:00whatever and I. Think there's a time and place
- 1:20:01for that? Like there sometimes where that
- 1:20:03is the fun thing to do for me. Like you're such a good writer,
- 1:20:05that fun. Thank you.
- 1:20:06Also, I've been wanting to say this entire interview but like
- 1:20:09we were chatting so much but like you're such a star.
- 1:20:12Thank you. You're such a star.
- 1:20:14Oh my God, I know a star when? I It's like our affirmation.
- 1:20:16Oh my God, yeah, I'm a star and I'm claiming.
- 1:20:18I am a star. I'm a star claimed.
- 1:20:21Oh my God, And such an incredible project.
- 1:20:22Like I'm so excited about all of it.
- 1:20:24And the encore, like it literally feels like the end of
- 1:20:26a show. And what another special
- 1:20:27vulnerable song. That entire project, top to
- 1:20:29bottom, it's like, oh, we're really getting into the boots of
- 1:20:32like this of who you are and like this other side of you.
- 1:20:35Because I think when you introduce that concept with damn
- 1:20:37good actress, but it's like, yeah, we're going to get we're
- 1:20:40getting into it. Now, yeah, the encore was the
- 1:20:43hardest song for me to write. I really wanted to capture that
- 1:20:47and not even like the actual production of it.
- 1:20:49I didn't know what production wise it was going to be.
- 1:20:51I just knew like the theme of what I wanted to talk about and
- 1:20:54really like the emotion. I didn't.
- 1:20:55I couldn't really figure out what I thought.
- 1:20:57I just knew I felt I had this feeling in me that I couldn't
- 1:21:02figure out. And for me, like songwriting
- 1:21:06obviously is very therapeutic. So when I'm able to write about
- 1:21:10a specific emotion, it's like I'm almost set free from it.
- 1:21:13I could like, if it's out of my body and I can write it, then
- 1:21:16it's like. Wait, are we?
- 1:21:18Oh my God, my publicist is going to be so annoyed at me.
- 1:21:21Yes, I literally tell my producers all the time.
- 1:21:23I'm like thank you so much for taking the session with me
- 1:21:25'cause it would stay on my chest unless I wrote it.
- 1:21:27And now that I did, it's released.
- 1:21:29I feel free. It's like alchemy.
- 1:21:30You can like. Trans It's so crazy I've never
- 1:21:33heard anyone say that before so I'm like.
- 1:21:35Yeah, girl. Wavelength boots.
- 1:21:36I appreciate you like recognizing that in like the
- 1:21:38songwriting process of it all. Oh, I'm, I'm a really big
- 1:21:41songwriter. So like I'm your writing is
- 1:21:43incredible. It gives it gives like folk
- 1:21:46singer-songwriter with these like beautiful, lush, like pop
- 1:21:49productions and any way that you sonically put it.
- 1:21:52And then obviously you love a string quartet.
- 1:21:54I do I. Love.
- 1:21:55They love you. They love you and your
- 1:21:59songwriter. You've also written songs for
- 1:22:01Bailey's Spin. We she's a Dululu alum.
- 1:22:04We love her. Loser is such a great project.
- 1:22:07Oh my gosh. How did you come about that I.
- 1:22:09I think she had seen videos of me and Bailey, correct me if I'm
- 1:22:14wrong, but I'm, I'm pretty sure she maybe saw videos of me or
- 1:22:17her manager did and she really wanted to work with women.
- 1:22:20And I had never, well, maybe like once or twice I've written
- 1:22:26with other people, but like nobody was asking me to write
- 1:22:29with them. To be honest with you, I wasn't
- 1:22:31putting myself out there, but like, nobody was.
- 1:22:32Did you want to write? I did.
- 1:22:34I wanted to be included in things that nobody was asking.
- 1:22:36But. Bailey asked.
- 1:22:37Oh my God, that's crazy. You're so talented.
- 1:22:38Thank you, but I wasn't really putting myself out there.
- 1:22:41So like, no tea, no shade, no. Tea, no shade.
- 1:22:43But Bailey asked and I just was loving it felt like therapy for
- 1:22:48me because she's so edgy and awesome and I felt like I could
- 1:22:53go in and me being like the Texas Southern girl that I am.
- 1:22:56I like sometimes don't really say the thing that I'm really
- 1:22:59thinking. But with Bailey, she she would
- 1:23:03like let me channel this side of me.
- 1:23:04That was like a little bit spicier and I loved writing with
- 1:23:08her. Yeah, she's awesome.
- 1:23:09And. That project's so well done too.
- 1:23:11Like she's she also guys really like tackles a lot of sides too
- 1:23:14on. That yeah, she's awesome.
- 1:23:16Oh yeah, she's so great. She's a sweet girl.
- 1:23:18That's actually that was my next question.
- 1:23:19So that's really interesting that you said that like tackling
- 1:23:21like working on another project, writing for another person.
- 1:23:24And then when you're writing for yourself, like, do you feel like
- 1:23:27that spiciness? I feel like we got that
- 1:23:28spiciness still in Texas from Madonna, right?
- 1:23:31But obviously. Not to the degree of that.
- 1:23:32That was like, I started being able to do that in a room.
- 1:23:36So it's like, and I was like, oh, it's like fun to do this.
- 1:23:39Like your path is. So perfect and interesting, like
- 1:23:41everything developed like when you were talking about the
- 1:23:44situation, like, I mean, you know, if it worked out of your
- 1:23:46your ex, the bullet one, right, then we wouldn't have supernova
- 1:23:50right and I'd be devastated. Right.
- 1:23:52So everything is perfectly aligned, perfect to plan.
- 1:23:54Everything you're telling, I'm just yes, that's why this
- 1:23:56happened. Yes, yeah, It's nice to look
- 1:23:58back in hindsight. In the moment, you're like, why
- 1:24:00is this happening? Oh my God.
- 1:24:01Or am I doing something wrong? That's where I'm at right now,
- 1:24:03but like eventually up. All part of the plan.
- 1:24:06It's all part of the plan. Affirmations.
- 1:24:09It's all part of the plan. The way I look at your timeline
- 1:24:11is like everything that happened in your life and your career
- 1:24:14needed to happen so Supernova can.
- 1:24:16Happen. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:24:17All roads lead to Supernova 1,000,000.
- 1:24:20It's the perfect pop song. Oh my God, Oh my God, it's so
- 1:24:23good. I can't even do it.
- 1:24:25I don't even want to do it. It's so good.
- 1:24:27Oh my God, it's such an ear worm.
- 1:24:29What the fuck? Oh my God.
- 1:24:30I'm like, I'm like, so excited to keep talking to him.
- 1:24:33I'm like, I don't need to listen to the song now.
- 1:24:35That's so good. I'm that's so fun and like just
- 1:24:38everything works out really well.
- 1:24:40Are you? Do you want a songwrite for more
- 1:24:41people? Yeah, I'm not against it.
- 1:24:43I think they're very different modes for me.
- 1:24:45Me too. Yeah.
- 1:24:46It's just fun, though. Like I can detach.
- 1:24:49Like sometimes I get a little too.
- 1:24:51Like, who am I? What am I, you know?
- 1:24:53That's so fair. And so it's like when I write
- 1:24:55with other people, it's like, it's OK.
- 1:24:57So like it's like I, I feel like I see it from a different
- 1:25:00perspective and it's I. Have less pressure when I'm
- 1:25:02writing for other people because I'm just like, I'm so picky
- 1:25:04about what I want to say for me to have other people.
- 1:25:06I'm like, what do you want? Yeah, let's make it happen.
- 1:25:08It suddenly doesn't feel that deep anymore and there's like a
- 1:25:10detachment that is actually more freeing are.
- 1:25:12You a natural brunette? I am.
- 1:25:14Oh, so you dyed your hair blonde because I thought blonde was
- 1:25:15your debut? Yeah, got it.
- 1:25:17Yeah. No, that's the Texas enemy.
- 1:25:19Yeah, that's that's right. Yeah, I used to.
- 1:25:21I used to always dye my hair blonde, but I'm natural
- 1:25:23brunette. It's cheaper it.
- 1:25:25Is and it's a lot of maintenance too yes you know what's funny I
- 1:25:28actually been bleaching my hair for the past 10 years, but right
- 1:25:31now it's black well I'm wearing this for you by the.
- 1:25:33Way. I love it.
- 1:25:34I love it. It's perfect.
- 1:25:35All of this is for you. If I had this go to draw a star
- 1:25:38on myself, I would have. I didn't have that.
- 1:25:40Scale No. This is cute.
- 1:25:41Thank you These these are uneven.
- 1:25:43I was in a rush but either way, OK perfect.
- 1:25:47This is so fun. I'm so so Oh my God.
- 1:25:49Congratulations on the EP, but what is next?
- 1:25:52As a fan, I need to know what's coming up.
- 1:25:53What are we? What are we working on?
- 1:25:55Where can we expect TS one? Are we going to go on tour?
- 1:25:58What can you? Give me all of the above
- 1:26:00pending. So it's like, it's all coming,
- 1:26:04right? But in due time.
- 1:26:06So I Mama, need some time to cook on the songwriting side of
- 1:26:10things. I'm like getting really excited
- 1:26:12about things and like seeing you're doing sessions again.
- 1:26:14Yeah, I'm doing sessions again. And I'm like seeing little
- 1:26:16elements of like, I like this. It's like a bunch of pieces kind
- 1:26:19of wandering around and I'm figuring I'm like Mike.
- 1:26:23I love it. Stripping things away that
- 1:26:25aren't working. Me, that's, I literally say it
- 1:26:27all the time. My Frankenstein, my shit all the
- 1:26:30time. You know what I mean?
- 1:26:31I'm right there, Yeah. Absolutely.
- 1:26:33So yeah. So it just I'm all that's
- 1:26:35happening. I'm definitely going to be doing
- 1:26:37some touring, some shows. We're working on some dates for
- 1:26:39that, which I'm really excited about because all I want to do
- 1:26:42is just like I'm. Going to be so annoying.
- 1:26:44I'm going to go to your show, I'm going to be front row.
- 1:26:46I'm going to be screaming it back to you.
- 1:26:47You're going to this crazy person.
- 1:26:49I'm going to hold you to that. Oh no, Trust me.
- 1:26:51I'm going to be like, why aren't you screaming?
- 1:26:53Trust me, I'm I'm actually, everyone's going to be really
- 1:26:55annoyed everyone around. Me.
- 1:26:57No, I know. I don't.
- 1:26:58I know. I don't have to ask you.
- 1:26:59I know. I'm going to be doing it,
- 1:27:00absolutely. I could do it right now.
- 1:27:02Play Supernova. Someone play it.
- 1:27:03Queue it up. Damn good actress.
- 1:27:05Let's go. Oh my gosh.
- 1:27:07OK, so actually I was really thinking about it.
- 1:27:09I know we talked about it earlier with like the Texas
- 1:27:11Prima Donna and then Lone Starlet.
- 1:27:13Do you think TS One's album title is going to be another
- 1:27:17another character that you're going?
- 1:27:19To present to the girlfriend, I think it'll be some sort of
- 1:27:21character, but what that is I don't know yet.
- 1:27:24OK, because. You're writing right now.
- 1:27:25Yes, I'm writing right now. And I'm like, I have a lot of
- 1:27:28musings that I'm like excited about.
- 1:27:29I'm like piercing it together. But it's definitely pretty
- 1:27:32abstract. I'm like looking at it, I'm
- 1:27:33like, what is? This wait, what can we expect?
- 1:27:35Like with the last two EP, he's like, are they?
- 1:27:37Is it going to continue on to the album?
- 1:27:39Like what are we thinking? It'll be I'm I'm hoping it'll be
- 1:27:42some sort of narrative, but it's like what what that actually is
- 1:27:45and how it connects I'm unsure of yet, but it'll always, I
- 1:27:47think like all of my music will always have like some sort of
- 1:27:50character within it because I just feel comfortable writing in
- 1:27:52that space. Oh my God.
- 1:27:54But we'll. See, and then when you're on TS2
- 1:27:57and you're doing press for it, you're going to be like, this is
- 1:27:59me and I'm vulnerable and I'm not doing a character anymore
- 1:28:01and that's how you're going to market it.
- 1:28:04I love. That Oh my.
- 1:28:05God big picture you already telling a narrative with the 2
- 1:28:08EPS like literally that story of the Texas prima Donna coming to
- 1:28:12LA and now she's the lone starlet.
- 1:28:15Wait, so do you think it's going to continue like that narrative
- 1:28:18because you already built such a strong world in the cinematic
- 1:28:20universe of? It I definitely want it to like
- 1:28:22there will definitely be 3 lines because essentially like all I'm
- 1:28:24writing is like my truth on like a bigger scale, you know?
- 1:28:27Like romantic and romanticize. Yeah.
- 1:28:29So there are always it would be like a disservice to just
- 1:28:34completely disconnect because it is my truth.
- 1:28:36It's just a matter of like what aspect of it I will do.
- 1:28:39It's a part of the process, like when you're talking about
- 1:28:41building the Lone Starlet and you're like, OK, well, I have
- 1:28:43these songs, how we're connecting them.
- 1:28:45And how we're making it happen. And it's just like always.
- 1:28:48I feel like the the journey of how the things come together
- 1:28:52changes with these last two projects at least, so I can
- 1:28:55imagine it'll be just like a whole different journey this.
- 1:28:57Time so exciting, especially doing over record label now too.
- 1:28:59Yeah, yeah, it's fun. There's more things at play.
- 1:29:02There's more like freedom, more more, you know, opinions like
- 1:29:06more perspective, which is. Really fun, more feedback, more
- 1:29:09people being involved too. Like it's honestly nice to be
- 1:29:11able to make something and be like, OK, here's what we're
- 1:29:13doing and what should we do? Where should we go with?
- 1:29:15This. Yeah, what do you?
- 1:29:16Think about like the genres for the album.
- 1:29:19I'm I will say like, while I don't know specifically what the
- 1:29:21album will sound like, I definitely am feeling more
- 1:29:25excited by like fun music. Like I really want to make
- 1:29:31Supernova. Yeah.
- 1:29:32Like I I really want it to be like pop up the who's to say?
- 1:29:35I mean, maybe the album comes out.
- 1:29:36It's like all like, not that, but we're going to love it
- 1:29:38either way. Yeah, I just am.
- 1:29:39I'm really. That's where you're at right
- 1:29:40now. Yeah.
- 1:29:41Yeah. I'm just like, I'm really
- 1:29:42excited about having fun. Like I feel like I'm in a very
- 1:29:45extroverted time in my life. Like I'm totally going out
- 1:29:48hanging with friends. I'm dancing.
- 1:29:49You're doing it, getting all dressed up.
- 1:29:51So it's like, I can imagine the music will have some of that,
- 1:29:54like, fun. Yeah, influence in it.
- 1:29:56I'm so fucking excited that wait, Oh my God, I'm so guys,
- 1:30:01OK, but you're writing it right now.
- 1:30:02You're working on it right now. Yes, so.
- 1:30:03Well, do you think like are you imagining that you want to like
- 1:30:06release it? I know you just released it up,
- 1:30:07but like do you think it's going to be a quick roll out next or
- 1:30:09are we going to still live in the lone?
- 1:30:11Starlet I think we'll live in the lone Starlet for a little
- 1:30:12bit because I I definitely want to like give myself the space
- 1:30:15and time to like build something out.
- 1:30:17All that to say though, like if a song, song, if I may write a
- 1:30:20song and I'm like, I need this out now, like.
- 1:30:22Right. And sometimes it really be.
- 1:30:24Like that, it really be like that.
- 1:30:25Yeah, absolutely. And I think giving the Lone
- 1:30:27Starlet her opportunity to really shine too, because like
- 1:30:30you have all the music videos out for it now and then.
- 1:30:32What do you think about like expanding that cinematic
- 1:30:34universe? Have you thought about like a
- 1:30:35deluxe for the EP? Or I honestly, it hasn't crossed
- 1:30:38my mind. I mean, there's definitely songs
- 1:30:40that didn't make it that didn't make it that are in the world of
- 1:30:43it all. So it would be.
- 1:30:44But it's it's kind of I think it's like, do those belong on
- 1:30:46the next project or they belong in this world?
- 1:30:48It's like. I want to hear them so bad.
- 1:30:49But yes, I'm. Sure, I'm sure a lot of them
- 1:30:53will see the lead day in the same way.
- 1:30:54That casualty, it just was in the era.
- 1:30:57Yeah. So it's like.
- 1:30:57That's nice to know that you were placing it, especially
- 1:30:59because it didn't end up on the Texas Free Madonna, but you knew
- 1:31:02it was going to go somewhere and it found its home.
- 1:31:04Yeah, and I, I, I think it's important to like, let songs
- 1:31:09like live out in the world. So me too.
- 1:31:11I will hold them back. Good.
- 1:31:13Please don't. For me, at the very least.
- 1:31:15I got you OK. Thank you.
- 1:31:16Yay. Well, we're so excited for
- 1:31:18what's next and everything. And when you do your show in LA,
- 1:31:19literally, I'm going to be there.
- 1:31:20I'm going to buy a ticket, front row, all of it.
- 1:31:22I'm going to be screaming back at you.
- 1:31:24It's going to be really annoying.
- 1:31:25Like, I can't wait. You have to make eye contact.
- 1:31:27Yes, I'll be like scream louder. OK, period.
- 1:31:29And I'm going to dress up as the EP cover.
- 1:31:32Perfect. Oh my God we should have that
- 1:31:33theme. I would love.
- 1:31:34Your best Your best old Hollywood attire.
- 1:31:37We had people for the for the theater events.
- 1:31:39People showed up and it was awesome.
- 1:31:40Like people legit showed up in like beautiful prom gowns and
- 1:31:43like everything. I was like genuinely impressed.
- 1:31:45Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous. I was also so jealous.
- 1:31:47Like watching, like seeing all the photos of the fans meeting
- 1:31:49you and everything. I was like, damn, I know.
- 1:31:52I knew in my head I was like, you're probably going to come on
- 1:31:55the show. I was like, but either way, I
- 1:31:57was like, I don't know how it reacted like if I like just
- 1:32:00walked up to you because I didn't even you said you were
- 1:32:02aware of me or whatever. That's so crazy.
- 1:32:05Oh my God, Gaggy, this. Is great because we get to like,
- 1:32:07sit and actually have a combo with each other.
- 1:32:09This is so nice and really loved diving into the music and
- 1:32:11getting into everything with the EP because like it is my
- 1:32:13favorite project released this year.
- 1:32:15You're my favorite new artist. Like it's, it's really cool.
- 1:32:18Like my two of my best friends are here and they obviously know
- 1:32:21because I talk all the time and I'm so excited and I've been
- 1:32:24playing your music videos and everything.
- 1:32:25So like, this is really cool and such a treat for me.
- 1:32:28Well, it's a treat for me. I really, I mean, I told you
- 1:32:30this at the beginning, but it's like, it's so wonderful.
- 1:32:33Like I write these songs in such a solitude.
- 1:32:35I mean, with other people, right?
- 1:32:36But like to put it out in the world and to see you care in
- 1:32:40such a beautiful ways. Really careful.
- 1:32:41And I can tell like, by the questions you ask, like I've
- 1:32:43never been able to like dive into each of these songs.
- 1:32:46And I really appreciate you taking the time.
- 1:32:48Wait. You're so nice for saying all
- 1:32:49that. That is so because this is about
- 1:32:51you. Like wait.
- 1:32:53You're sweet. Thank you.
- 1:32:55I just, I really cared about the songs I heard about the CP, the
- 1:32:58project, the art behind it, the lyrics, like everything.
- 1:33:00Like I was saying like even like, like we talked about
- 1:33:03supernova and I'm so annoying because I keep going back.
- 1:33:05But like, just like describing the situation in the mundane of
- 1:33:09it, like the static on the TV and you're sitting on this like
- 1:33:11all of this. And it's like these giving,
- 1:33:14giving me the backs for that song changed everything for me
- 1:33:16to like, Oh my gosh, it's that moment really is that moment.
- 1:33:19Like I think I'm in love and it scares me.
- 1:33:22Like all of that. Oh my gosh.
- 1:33:23What does it mean that you're a supernova?
- 1:33:26Is it because to me, I'm interpreting it where it's like
- 1:33:29I'm, I'm a huge star. Are, are we going to be able to
- 1:33:31handle this or can you be able to handle this?
- 1:33:32Would you be able to love me? Do you say it in the song?
- 1:33:35Like, do you? Is it?
- 1:33:36Are you just here 'cause it's easy right now, but it's not
- 1:33:38always going to be easy? Because.
- 1:33:39You're a supernova. I always like have had the same
- 1:33:43like I know what I want for my life.
- 1:33:44I know what I'm aiming for in my career.
- 1:33:46Yeah, and I know that in this career, I write about the most
- 1:33:51intimate things in my life, and that tends to be the people
- 1:33:54around me and my most close and personal relationships, right.
- 1:33:57And so it was really this reflection of before we had said
- 1:34:00I love you. Like, are you going to be OK
- 1:34:03with me writing songs about you? Like it will be that.
- 1:34:05So it was like I plan for my life to unfold in this way.
- 1:34:10Are you down to This is so crazy.
- 1:34:12We're actually seeing it in real time too, as these songs come
- 1:34:14out, you know, and like the meta of it because it's like this,
- 1:34:18this song that's like basically like, are you cool with this?
- 1:34:20Talking to me writing about you, which this is a song that I
- 1:34:23wrote about. You.
- 1:34:23Yeah. And he's down.
- 1:34:25He's down. I mean he was in the music
- 1:34:26video. Of course.
- 1:34:27Oh my gosh. Great performance.
- 1:34:28Oh my God, in the dancing you were giving.
- 1:34:31Oh my. Rehearsed a lot, so.
- 1:34:32You were giving you're giving everything like what the girls
- 1:34:35in the gays want. Like thank you.
- 1:34:36And then a damn good actress. Just like, that's such an
- 1:34:39incredible piece. You said it was the last song
- 1:34:40that you did for this project. But like, it really ties
- 1:34:43everything together. Like do you feel like now you're
- 1:34:45really laying the walls down you you're still playing a
- 1:34:48character, it's more dramaticized version of
- 1:34:49yourself, but with a song like Damn good Actress where you're
- 1:34:52like also meta about acknowledging that.
- 1:34:54And like now I'm saying, OK, here's this other side of me and
- 1:34:56I'm really opening up now. Yeah, I, I think it's like I
- 1:35:01before I could move forward in my career where I plan to play
- 1:35:04characters for the rest of my life, like it's what I've
- 1:35:06chosen. You're locking in on.
- 1:35:07That I really want that. I think it's fun, but it, I
- 1:35:10wanted to make sure people knew I was playing a character.
- 1:35:15So that was like, yeah, I wanted to be like, I am letting you
- 1:35:19know, but I just, I needed it to be like, hey, I'm aware that I'm
- 1:35:23playing a character, but like, let's play for fun's sake, like.
- 1:35:26Yeah, let's dive into. It you.
- 1:35:28Know the visuals help a lot with that too genuinely like it's
- 1:35:31also like little movies, which yes, I'm sure is very
- 1:35:33intentional like bullet like these these productions and
- 1:35:37everything it's like this is the Tsu Tiffany Stringer sinematic
- 1:35:41universe. Oh my gosh we're except for
- 1:35:43everything that's coming next and this has been so much fun.
- 1:35:45One of the first Dulu takes a hat on the show a year ago was I
- 1:35:48said I didn't believe dinosaurs are real and it was well
- 1:35:51received. It was well received, OK?
- 1:35:52Not by you, not by not by the studio audience right now, guys,
- 1:35:56a year ago was well received, OK?
- 1:35:58People were on my side. By who?
- 1:36:00The general public was on my side but recently someone posted
- 1:36:04a TikTok on Twitter or something and they were like I don't
- 1:36:06believe in dinosaurs and it got like 80 K likes and the the
- 1:36:09tweet was like what stupid bitch doesn't believe in dinosaurs and
- 1:36:13it was like everyone's dog piling on them I was like.
- 1:36:15To be fair, like I. Was like, let's take down that
- 1:36:17episode. Let's.
- 1:36:18Take down that episode. No, I love.
- 1:36:19I love when someone speaks their truth.
- 1:36:21Well, I've just never seen a dinosaur, right Right, now that
- 1:36:25you think about it. Right.
- 1:36:26When, when's the last? When's the last dinosaur you've
- 1:36:28seen? Yeah.
- 1:36:31Like I've never seen a there's a lot of things I haven't seen.
- 1:36:34I've never seen a piranha. Oh, OK, that's a good fallacy.
- 1:36:38That's I was like, well, obviously the real though.
- 1:36:40Yeah, OK. But my my counter argument, you
- 1:36:42can go find a piranha right now. Like go to PetSmart, you know?
- 1:36:46But I don't know, I think dinosaurs are real.
- 1:36:48Okay, that's my. Maybe that's to.
- 1:36:50You. That's a delulu take for me, but
- 1:36:52I'm gonna. Stand on like we were on the
- 1:36:53same wave. Lift entire shop.
- 1:36:55Right. Okay, no, now you know what?
- 1:36:56You convince me dinosaurs are real, right?
- 1:36:58Tiffany Stringer says. So then I agree and then I agree
- 1:37:01whoever made Supernova tell all your Co writers whatever they
- 1:37:05believe, I believe to. I love.
- 1:37:08That and honestly, I really, I'm actually a little disappointed
- 1:37:11I'm glazing supernova so much because I actually I think I
- 1:37:13like damn good actress more. Wow.
- 1:37:15It's OK, but like I don't know, just supernova is just like
- 1:37:18that's. You've been, yeah, You've been
- 1:37:19doubling down on the supernova. Well, you've been listening to
- 1:37:21supernova more. It's on your top.
- 1:37:23Repeat. Because I think it's newer, you
- 1:37:25know what I mean? It came out with the you're.
- 1:37:26The honeymoon phase. 100% but and I damn good actress because
- 1:37:30we used the chorus as a reference for one of my songs
- 1:37:33like it's been so it's so good. What if that melody is so good?
- 1:37:39Oh my gosh, bitch, it's so good. Oh my God, just so talented.
- 1:37:45Oh, OK, hey, everyone. So again, like feel bad because
- 1:37:49this genuinely was this episode was for me, but I think
- 1:37:51everyone's going to really love it.
- 1:37:52You know what I find surprising? When I like, I think when people
- 1:37:55watch and they can tell I'm super into a guest and I'm into
- 1:37:57all my guests. Of course it's a better episode
- 1:38:01you. Know I can't wait to watch so.
- 1:38:03Me too. Oh my gosh.
- 1:38:05Because this was this was so fun.
- 1:38:06OK, Tiffany, we close out every show by manifesting together.
- 1:38:11Is there anything you want to speak into existence here on
- 1:38:14Delulu? The universe is listening.
- 1:38:16You are already a star. But Delulu's known to make
- 1:38:18stars. We have so much, so many Delulu
- 1:38:20alum who've gone on to be so massive.
- 1:38:22I'm like, I'm like, Oh my gosh, here we go.
- 1:38:24OK, what do we think? Do I need to say it in like
- 1:38:26present tense? Like how do?
- 1:38:27What is the format? So my format is you say it as if
- 1:38:30it already happened. Or if you want, you could just
- 1:38:32be like, I'm speaking this into existence and here it is.
- 1:38:34But I like to say things like I always say I'm the biggest pop
- 1:38:36star in the world, period. Yeah.
- 1:38:37I mean, why not? Sure, but I still want that.
- 1:38:40Yeah, well, OK, there's like one thing that is like a new thing
- 1:38:44of mine that I never really cared about, but now I'm
- 1:38:45starting to care about. It OK clock.
- 1:38:49She's laughing at me. Oh my God.
- 1:38:50I'm so excited. Does she know it?
- 1:38:53No. Maybe.
- 1:38:53She probably will, but I OK, I'm going to say yes.
- 1:39:00Wait, do I say my name? I'm nervous.
- 1:39:01No, they're just saying no. Don't overthink it.
- 1:39:03Just like speak in existence. Well, my song is #1 on the
- 1:39:06Billboard Hot 1. Which one it is?
- 1:39:09It's Bullet. Yeah, and Supernova.
- 1:39:12Well, they're fighting for the 1st place.
- 1:39:14They just like keep knocking the other one out.
- 1:39:16Battle with yourself right now. Oh, here comes damn good
- 1:39:18actress. It's also entering.
- 1:39:20The Oh my God Top Crave Tiffany Stringer occupies the top 4 on
- 1:39:24the Billboard Hot 100. Battling herself for the top
- 1:39:27one. Supernova.
- 1:39:29Damn good act the encore, right? Throwing couch, right?
- 1:39:33Yeah. Pocket the fighting.
- 1:39:34You know what's? On Let's Make Track 6, they.
- 1:39:37Try. Yes.
- 1:39:40Introducing the Lone starlet #1 on the.
- 1:39:42Billboard. There it is.
- 1:39:44That's that's how. It works.
- 1:39:45It's the first song on the project.
- 1:39:47That's the one that people stream.
- 1:39:48It's like perfectly in the track list order.
- 1:39:50Imagine, Oh my God, OK, that's Tulu.
- 1:39:53That's T Lulu T bullet is actually going to do it because
- 1:39:56it's giving like the the country and the pop of it like it's so.
- 1:40:00Popular right now too, But you also trailblaze that, by the
- 1:40:02way, because like you've been doing that, it's so ingrained in
- 1:40:05your in your music and your lore and your persona and your brand
- 1:40:08and your character. Yes, quick question for you.
- 1:40:13We're rapping. But quick question, do you feel
- 1:40:14like Hollywood is going to ruin the Lone Starlet?
- 1:40:16How do we how do we think she's going to fare out in LA?
- 1:40:19Great. Question.
- 1:40:21How is she faring? I think that the struggles that
- 1:40:27she faces brings her the next story, so inevitably she will
- 1:40:31take anything that comes her way and alchemize it into even
- 1:40:35better things. That's so good.
- 1:40:37I think she will face life head on and become even more of a
- 1:40:41diva. Because of it.
- 1:40:43Wait is is the Texas prima Donna and the Lone Star like 2
- 1:40:46separate people or the? Same person, same person.
- 1:40:48Just evolving. Yeah.
- 1:40:49OK, Final question, Tiffany Stringer, you are the biggest
- 1:40:54star in the world tonight. How do you feel?
- 1:40:57I feel amazing, I'm very happy and I am feeling delulu.
- 1:41:01So I love it. Oh my God, I love it.
- 1:41:03I love it, I love it. This is so incredible.
- 1:41:05Thank you for that is actually happening.
- 1:41:07People don't want to claim that, they want chart success.
- 1:41:09I, yeah, I, I do. I didn't, I actually never
- 1:41:11really thought about it. And I'm like, no, that would be
- 1:41:13fun. You're on a major.
- 1:41:14It's happening. Yeah.
- 1:41:15Like you could do it. Like you're good.
- 1:41:17Yes. And I need that too, because
- 1:41:19then the album come quicker, right?
- 1:41:21Because then they're going to rush that shit, right?
- 1:41:22Then you'll be like, oh boy, They're like, open the archive,
- 1:41:26yeah. Like I, I'm curious what it
- 1:41:27would be like if I I did that. I'm like, OK, let's.
- 1:41:29See, open the vault. Let's go open the vault.
- 1:41:31Wait, what's your favorite off the EP?
- 1:41:33Oh, it changes. OK, right now what?
- 1:41:35Do you think right now supernova?
- 1:41:38OK, I was going to say imagine she said.
- 1:41:39Anything else? Yeah, and now it's supernova.
- 1:41:41So good. Oh my gosh, I mean like that.
- 1:41:43Like it has different pres and like it's just such a well
- 1:41:45written song. Thank you.
- 1:41:47Such a well written song and the textures and the vocal stacking.
- 1:41:51Thank you. I can't imagine the stems on
- 1:41:54that song. Sorry that was crazy.
- 1:41:55Just because my my publicist said I'm banned from singing
- 1:41:58stems on the can't say stems can't say stems my album and
- 1:42:03mix. Cancelled.
- 1:42:05And from delulu from my side. But he did say that the guest is
- 1:42:09welcome to say whatever they want, so.
- 1:42:10Stems mix this album your album. Tiffany Stringer one.
- 1:42:16I'm so excited. This has been so incredible.
- 1:42:20I'm like, I'm like actually delaying it because I want to
- 1:42:22keep going. But no, we can't.
- 1:42:24We can't indulge like this because you're just going to
- 1:42:26come back. Yes, I'm going to come.
