Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:03Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, jumps.
- 0:06Speaker 3: It off into the right, flat to Michael Bumpers, who
- 0:08Speaker 3: bounces off of one tackler, gets inside the forty down
- 0:11Speaker 3: of the forty five yard line.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Matt pumpfakes looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:16Speaker 3: into the end zone.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Touchdown Seahawks.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It's Michael Bumpers with a diving catching the end zone.
- 0:22Speaker 3: A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid
- 0:26Speaker 3: out of Washington State has found himself.
- 0:28Speaker 2: A place on this team. Now, here's your host, Nasa Chopie.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Unfortunately, the Seahawks on the losing end on Sunday Night Football,
- 0:39Speaker 1: falling to the Packers thirty to thirteen at Loominfield. We're
- 0:43Speaker 1: broadcasting from the Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented by Sony, the
- 0:46Speaker 1: official partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Bumping Yeah, man, no stuff.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I was stuff. It was so tough. I convinced
- 0:54Speaker 4: myself to score was thirty to ten. For like two
- 0:57Speaker 4: segments in the postgame show, you did that. He was
- 1:00Speaker 4: third team, and the Packers made they was ready to
- 1:02Speaker 4: go from jump. They wasted no time. Yeah, no, you're right.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I mean the Packers are a good football team. I
- 1:07Speaker 4: think the Seahawks obviously didn't play their best football game
- 1:10Speaker 4: on Sunday night.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And it's tough in this league.
- 1:11Speaker 1: There's a lot of good teams and you got to
- 1:13Speaker 1: come with it every Sunday, and unfortunately Seahawks feut of
- 1:15Speaker 1: the Packers.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Let's get right into it.
- 1:17Speaker 1: What had happened, See, what had happened was what had
- 1:22Speaker 1: happened at first was what had happened was on Hawk Talk.
- 1:27Speaker 1: So yesterday was the first time the Seahawks had hosted
- 1:29Speaker 1: a game on Sunday night football in front of fans
- 1:31Speaker 1: since twenty nineteen, which is wild to me. Obviously, I
- 1:34Speaker 1: believe there was a couple I know, the Patriots game
- 1:36Speaker 1: in twenty twenty, you know, other than staff members, me
- 1:40Speaker 1: and you and about you know, the people were in there.
- 1:42Speaker 2: For that squat and that one. Yeah, but that was
- 1:44Speaker 2: a good one.
- 1:44Speaker 1: So we're definitely hoping for some of that, you know,
- 1:47Speaker 1: magic and prime time under the lights. Unfortunately, that was
- 1:50Speaker 1: not the case, and the game to start well for
- 1:52Speaker 1: the Seahawks right off top, it was tough for them
- 1:53Speaker 1: to start.
- 1:54Speaker 2: The Packers come out of the gate hot.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They take the opening kickoff back about thirty nine yards,
- 1:57Speaker 1: set them right up. Two plays later, ereequ will and
- 2:00Speaker 1: gets called for unecessary rough this penalty after a hit
- 2:02Speaker 1: on Jordan Love.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Then Josh Jacobs did the rest. This was a drive
- 2:06Speaker 2: about Josh Jacobs.
- 2:07Speaker 1: He had nine touches capped off a ten play sixty
- 2:10Speaker 1: three yard drive with a one yard touchdown that made
- 2:12Speaker 1: the score seven zero.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Yeah, nine out of ten touches in that drive. They
- 2:16Speaker 4: set the tone and say, look, this is our best player.
- 2:18Speaker 4: You're gonna have to try to stop him. On the
- 2:20Speaker 4: next drive. After finding Dk for a fifteen yard game
- 2:22Speaker 4: on first down, the Hawks will be forced to punt
- 2:24Speaker 4: three plays later. That was a nice dime over the
- 2:27Speaker 4: top and the honey hill shot that Genol threw man
- 2:30Speaker 4: DK had a couple of big catches. The Packers would
- 2:32Speaker 4: answer right back with another long drive. They go eight
- 2:34Speaker 4: plays eighty yards and he with a thirteen yard touchdown
- 2:37Speaker 4: of Romeo Dobbs that made the score fourteen zero Green Bay.
- 2:40Speaker 2: But then the Hawks got on the board.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Their next drive they find jsm again, jays In doing
- 2:45Speaker 4: what he does, and then a sixteen yard run by
- 2:47Speaker 4: Charbonne that set up a field goal and made the
- 2:50Speaker 4: score fourteen to three.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Green Bay.
- 2:52Speaker 4: You're feeling okay at this point, you know, you go,
- 2:54Speaker 4: Green Bay gets the ball twice, they put up fourteen.
- 2:56Speaker 4: You get the ball and you're thinking, all right, just
- 2:58Speaker 4: put something on those score and you should be fine.
- 3:02Speaker 1: No, and you're You're absolutely right. You definitely didn't feel
- 3:04Speaker 1: like the game was out of reach by any point.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You're like, Okay, the defense is going to get it
- 3:07Speaker 1: figured out, and they actually did. After that fourteen to
- 3:10Speaker 1: three score, the Packers would get points on their next drive,
- 3:12Speaker 1: once again, going eight plays fifty one yards anywhere the
- 3:15Speaker 1: Brandon McManus field goal that made the score seventeen to three.
- 3:18Speaker 1: But the Seahawks, they finally started getting things going. Grub
- 3:21Speaker 1: and Gino Smith in the offense marches down the field,
- 3:24Speaker 1: getting all the way in the red zone, but unfortunately,
- 3:26Speaker 1: disaster struck once again for the fourth time this season.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Gino Smith was intercepted in the end zone and the
- 3:31Speaker 1: Seahawks would walk away with no points. That was crucial, man.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It was because at least the very least. You're hoping
- 3:35Speaker 1: to get some points at seventeen to six, but obviously
- 3:37Speaker 1: you want to score. They had a great drive or
- 3:39Speaker 1: unable to get any points, which really hurt them there.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And then Packers would get drive points on their final
- 3:44Speaker 1: driver of the first half, topped up by three penalties,
- 3:46Speaker 1: including a thirty four yard pass interference henriku one. They
- 3:49Speaker 1: would settle for three points and the teams were going
- 3:51Speaker 1: to the locker room at a twenty two to three score,
- 3:53Speaker 1: but the Seahawks wouldn't get the ball coming out of
- 3:55Speaker 1: the second half.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Yeah, you're like, all right, twenty to three. It doesn't
- 3:58Speaker 4: feel like after those first few drives. You felt like
- 4:01Speaker 4: the Seas were trying to find their groove and they
- 4:03Speaker 4: were close. So they got the ball to start the
- 4:04Speaker 4: second half and would have to punt negative plays. There's
- 4:09Speaker 4: a few drives inside of this game where there were
- 4:11Speaker 4: some negative plays. There's a sac, there's a holdingles as
- 4:14Speaker 4: a disaster. The Hawks defense would force a punt on
- 4:16Speaker 4: their next drive, and then disaster struck on first and
- 4:19Speaker 4: ten from the Packers twenty four yard line. Geno Smith
- 4:22Speaker 4: under pressure, guy hit low and had to leave the
- 4:25Speaker 4: game because of a knee injury.
- 4:26Speaker 2: That kind of got me going a little bit. Yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 2: we know the rules.
- 4:30Speaker 4: You got to hit the quarterback in the tour, so
- 4:32Speaker 4: you gotta got dive in at Gino's ankles, his needs,
- 4:34Speaker 4: whatever you want to call it, twist them up. And
- 4:36Speaker 4: for the first time I saw Genol begging for a foul.
- 4:38Speaker 4: But I go, no, this was legit. Though you see
- 4:40Speaker 4: quarterbacks beg all the time for foules. But he didn't
- 4:43Speaker 4: get it. So I'm interested to see if that player
- 4:45Speaker 4: got fined or if the NFL is going to communicate
- 4:47Speaker 4: with Mike McDonald and say, hey, we should have called
- 4:50Speaker 4: that a week consolation, but at least they would acknowledge
- 4:53Speaker 4: that something went wrong.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Now, no, it's a penalty. You can't low. It's pretty obvious.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And it sucks for Gino too, because you're I understand,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and when we talk about rules, everything's protecting the quarterback,
- 5:02Speaker 1: all the things they want to protect and stuff like that.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's quarterbacks getting knocked out for the extain amount of time.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I was a defensive player. I understand how hard is
- 5:09Speaker 1: play defense in this league. I'm not there was no
- 5:10Speaker 1: intent there, but a penalty is a penalty and we
- 5:13Speaker 1: would have taken those fifteen yards and maybe potentially gotten
- 5:15Speaker 1: better position. So then Sam Howell gets his first playing
- 5:18Speaker 1: time in the Seahawks uniform in the regular season, and
- 5:22Speaker 1: he got he has first play, throws a ball the JSN.
- 5:24Speaker 2: He attacked for like a minus one yard.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Seahawks ended up kicking a field goal, so that would
- 5:29Speaker 1: make the score twenty to six. You're still within two
- 5:31Speaker 1: possession game. Packers would answer with the field goal on
- 5:34Speaker 1: their own on the next drive that made the score
- 5:36Speaker 1: twenty three to six.
- 5:37Speaker 2: The Seahawks would have two really.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Rough possessions of the offense, a lot of sacks just
- 5:42Speaker 1: not very good, combining for negative six yards bump, and
- 5:45Speaker 1: then the defense will try to keep the Hawks in it.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, Ernid Jones, he forced a fumble on Josh Jacobs
- 5:50Speaker 4: and then Jay Love right places, right time, he picks
- 5:52Speaker 4: it up. Five plays later, the Seahawks found the end
- 5:54Speaker 4: zone for the first time. We're gonna break this playdown
- 5:56Speaker 4: zax Strop and they took it twenty four yards. That
- 5:59Speaker 4: made the score twenty three to thirteen. With just over
- 6:01Speaker 4: eleven minutes left, the Packers will turn the ball over
- 6:04Speaker 4: on downs on the next drive, then things would get
- 6:06Speaker 4: worse for the Seas and Sam How was picked off
- 6:09Speaker 4: two plays later. If they would have scored on that drive,
- 6:12Speaker 4: I think the filling in that stadium is different, the
- 6:15Speaker 4: feeling on the sideline is different. But it's tough for
- 6:17Speaker 4: Sam How to come into this situation and you expect
- 6:21Speaker 4: him to perform at a high level.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I know they say he should be preparing like he's
- 6:24Speaker 2: a starter.
- 6:25Speaker 4: He is preparing like the starter, but you ain't a
- 6:27Speaker 4: starter to you win a game and you feel that.
- 6:29Speaker 4: It's a bit different when you're there and there and
- 6:30Speaker 4: guys are flying around.
- 6:31Speaker 2: No question about it.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I mean the Seahowks were still in the game, as
- 6:33Speaker 1: much as it felt as lopsided as it was. They
- 6:35Speaker 1: scored there and they're down three. Now we have a
- 6:37Speaker 1: football game, yep. Unfortunately they don't. To your point, Tim,
- 6:40Speaker 1: how horrible position being when you're unless you've done it,
- 6:43Speaker 1: unless you've been absolutely cold, and then have to then
- 6:47Speaker 1: get in the game, like here's the play call, Go
- 6:49Speaker 1: get the protections, get the years, Like, man, I don't
- 6:51Speaker 1: get a position to like run down. This is in basketball.
- 6:54Speaker 1: We can pass the ball around. I kind of feel
- 6:56Speaker 1: the game out a little bit. You're the quarterback, so
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'm not making excuses.
- 6:59Speaker 2: It is what it is. Second guy too, man.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah, So unfortunately it didn't go well for the Seahawks. There,
- 7:04Speaker 1: Packers capitalized and turnover Jordan Love finds romy Doobs again
- 7:07Speaker 1: back the ends, one twenty two hoard touchdown that sealed
- 7:09Speaker 1: the deal, that made the score thirty two thirteen, effectively
- 7:12Speaker 1: ended the game for the Seahawks. And uh, the box
- 7:15Speaker 1: score kind of told the story of what it was,
- 7:17Speaker 1: Packers out gaining the Seahawks three sixty nine to two. Away.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Packers won time, possession, turnover, battle, rush for outrush of
- 7:24Speaker 1: the Seahawks one hundred and forty to eighty. And it's
- 7:27Speaker 1: it's a bummer bump because the Seahawks did have an
- 7:29Speaker 1: opportunity to make up some ground in the NFC West.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Unfortunately they couldn't do that.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Yeah, you had an opportunity and you didn't come through.
- 7:37Speaker 4: But something that I've been we've been saying honestly for
- 7:40Speaker 4: the last three weeks, is like you can split these
- 7:42Speaker 4: two games and be fine. I'm talking about the Vikings
- 7:44Speaker 4: and the Green May Packers. Right, We'll talk about the
- 7:46Speaker 4: Vikings in another podcast. But yeah, you gotta find the positives.
- 7:50Speaker 4: And despite the score beium thirty to thirteen and you
- 7:52Speaker 4: look at the box score three into sixty nine yards
- 7:54Speaker 4: to two o eight, there were some things that happened
- 7:57Speaker 4: that were positive. Obviously, got some work to do, but hey,
- 8:00Speaker 4: more games to be played.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, no, everything is still in front of the Seahawks.
- 8:03Speaker 1: We know that, Coach McDonald said it. We'll talk about
- 8:06Speaker 1: this extensively over the next couple of weeks and shows.
- 8:08Speaker 1: The Seahawks went out right now, they're still NSUS champs.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Everything in front of them is still there. We saw
- 8:12Speaker 1: some positive things. We'll talk about the defense, how things
- 8:15Speaker 1: went so still in front of them. Still a hard
- 8:18Speaker 1: loss to swallow for the Seahawks. They were on a
- 8:19Speaker 1: run four game win streak. Unfortunately it came to an
- 8:21Speaker 1: end last night. We're broadcasting live from the Seahawks Podcast Studio,
- 8:24Speaker 1: presented by Sony, the official partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
- 8:28Speaker 2: But there was some people who did make some plays.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Let's talk about it.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Playmakers touch up, playmakers.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Told him what time it is?
- 8:40Speaker 1: Ho wait cat, But we're gonna start off with receivers
- 8:45Speaker 1: Jackslyn Smith and Jigba.
- 8:47Speaker 2: He's been doing his thing.
- 8:48Speaker 1: We've been talking taking this guy's praises for a week
- 8:50Speaker 1: after week after week. Ten receptions, eighty three yards, seventh
- 8:54Speaker 1: game in a row, he's led the Seahawks in receiving.
- 8:56Speaker 1: He's now six yard six yards shy of one thousand
- 8:59Speaker 1: yards on the season. Jason's mister consistent. He's doing his thing.
- 9:02Speaker 1: He's been there every single week. Obviously, I was hoping
- 9:05Speaker 1: he'd get to a thousand yards yesterday. I was hoping
- 9:07Speaker 1: you do all of it in a Seahawks victory. Unvirtually
- 9:09Speaker 1: it wasn't the case. But still loving we're seeing from JSN.
- 9:12Speaker 1: He's definitely proven who he is why we drafted him,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and he shows it each and every week.
- 9:16Speaker 2: He's their go to guy now.
- 9:18Speaker 4: He works the middle beautifully, the dig rolese the deep
- 9:20Speaker 4: crosses and all that good stuff on third downs.
- 9:22Speaker 2: He's reliable. Gino was looking to get him the football.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Watched the film today and Jasen is his first read
- 9:29Speaker 4: more times than not for a good reason because his
- 9:32Speaker 4: cash percentage has been crazy. So Jason, keep up the
- 9:34Speaker 4: good work. He'll get that thousand yards next game for sure.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Next guy up, Zach Charbonnay. Eight carries for fifty four yards,
- 9:41Speaker 4: one touchdown run, one reception for twelve yards. Not the
- 9:45Speaker 4: touches that we thought he was going to get, But
- 9:47Speaker 4: when you're down fourteen oh early, play calling is going
- 9:49Speaker 4: to change a little bit. But he did show you
- 9:52Speaker 4: a burst and that touchdown that we're going to break
- 9:54Speaker 4: down here later.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It was nice to see.
- 9:57Speaker 4: He didn't necessarily back up one hundred and thirty one
- 9:59Speaker 4: yard performers, but he showed that he can just keep
- 10:01Speaker 4: getting downhill even if he doesn't touch the ball as
- 10:03Speaker 4: often as we would like him to do.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But as a running back, you.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Understand if you're down and you got to score quickly,
- 10:09Speaker 4: running the ball ain't gonna do it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 1: No, Zach again, when he does touch the football, especial
- 10:13Speaker 1: Las two weeks's shown what he can do. He had
- 10:15Speaker 1: another run that was less impressive in terms of numbers. Yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 1: but he got nor South kind of broke a couple
- 10:20Speaker 1: tackles in the backfield. Looked like it was going to
- 10:21Speaker 1: be negative play. He ends up pushing it for a
- 10:23Speaker 1: first down. So I love what Zach's doing. Hopefully this
- 10:26Speaker 1: game against the Vikings, the Seahawks won't get behind fourteen nothing,
- 10:29Speaker 1: they can play a little bit more balance and really
- 10:30Speaker 1: commit to that run game like we saw in Arizona.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Put it over to the quarterback. Geno Smith.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Statistically, you know, completion percentage wise, he did a good
- 10:39Speaker 1: had a good game. He's fifteen of nineteen hundred and
- 10:40Speaker 1: forty nine yards, was playing really well. Obviously, there's two
- 10:43Speaker 1: throws he'd want to have back. He can't turn the
- 10:45Speaker 1: ball over in the red zone. He understands that. But
- 10:47Speaker 1: he wasn't playing horribly. And the thing that really sucked
- 10:50Speaker 1: about is because we've talked about this a million times
- 10:52Speaker 1: over so far this year, where Gino has had a
- 10:55Speaker 1: bad interception, he's always come back in the third or
- 10:57Speaker 1: fourth quarter and either brought the Seahawks back to win
- 11:00Speaker 1: or right there in it. We just didn't get to
- 11:01Speaker 1: see that. Unfortunately, it was taken from him. So hopefully
- 11:04Speaker 1: Gino Smith gets healthy and he's raided to rock against
- 11:07Speaker 1: the Vikings. So we're definitely praying for him.
- 11:09Speaker 4: And hope that knee, you know, gets right before that
- 11:11Speaker 4: pick man, it was like eleven four eleven one hundred
- 11:13Speaker 4: yards or something like that. He was playing a good games,
- 11:16Speaker 4: just so unforced it man. Ernest Jones has another good game,
- 11:19Speaker 4: nine tackles and one forced fumble.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I'm gonna combine him with.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Leonard Williams another sneaky good day, seven tackles, one TfL,
- 11:25Speaker 4: one quarterback hit. The Packers made it part of their
- 11:30Speaker 4: game plan to make sure Leonard didn't go off.
- 11:33Speaker 2: They were a double team and the heck out of him.
- 11:34Speaker 4: I mean, they were making my man work and he
- 11:37Speaker 4: still fill up the stat sheet a little bit.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I was. I was proud of just how resilient he was.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Man.
- 11:43Speaker 2: It was a physical game for Lindle Williams.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and the one big play he may had a
- 11:47Speaker 1: big tackle tackle for loss in that game, and it
- 11:49Speaker 1: was because somehow there's a miscommunication, like no one blocked him.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Not saying he would have made the play anyway.
- 11:54Speaker 1: But yeah, I know Leonard at this point in the year,
- 11:56Speaker 1: what he's done, he's probably gonna be an All Pro
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think at least second team at the very least.
- 12:01Speaker 2: He's a guy you circle. Dave Wyman always says, an
- 12:03Speaker 2: extra meeting guy. You're meeting guy. He's an extra meeting
- 12:06Speaker 2: guy for sure. We'll finish here with playmakers.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Kobe Bryan just being consistent eight tackles, seven solo, a
- 12:11Speaker 1: couple of touchdown saving tackles.
- 12:13Speaker 2: At the safety position.
- 12:14Speaker 1: You don't want your safeties up there and tackles every
- 12:16Speaker 1: single week unless they're staying in the box one hundred
- 12:19Speaker 1: percent of the time. When they're playing in a deep half, deep,
- 12:21Speaker 1: third quarter or whatever it is. You don't want them
- 12:24Speaker 1: getting that far in tackles.
- 12:26Speaker 2: It is what it is.
- 12:27Speaker 1: But I love what we're seeing from them because they're
- 12:28Speaker 1: sure tackles are getting people down on the ground. Kobe
- 12:30Speaker 1: Bryan has been really good. He's been great now, really good.
- 12:33Speaker 1: So happy to see that there. But I'm Lena talk
- 12:35Speaker 1: about the receivers. It wasn't the biggest output in that room.
- 12:38Speaker 1: But what do we see on Sunday?
- 12:39Speaker 2: All right?
- 12:40Speaker 4: We talked about Jsn twelve targets, ten receptions, eighty three yards,
- 12:43Speaker 4: six more yards. He'll get that thousand yard season. Dk
- 12:46Speaker 4: Metcalm three targets, three receptions, twenty eight yards. I would
- 12:49Speaker 4: love to see him get more involved in this offense.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Tyler Lockett one target, one reception for twenty two him
- 12:54Speaker 4: as well, got no offense, had seven targets, three receptions
- 12:56Speaker 4: for fifteen yards. That Sharbonna had one reception for twelve,
- 13:00Speaker 4: Bubble had a big third down I believe, pick up
- 13:02Speaker 4: one reception eight yards, and aj Barner had one for
- 13:05Speaker 4: five as a group, one hundred and seventy three yards
- 13:07Speaker 4: eight point seven per clip along of twenty five that
- 13:10Speaker 4: belongs to JSM.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that route heated too. That was another
- 13:13Speaker 1: one he gets open, and I just thought we're gonna
- 13:16Speaker 1: see a little bit more of that. It's unfortunate, but
- 13:18Speaker 1: you gotta stay on the field. You gotta camp, get
- 13:19Speaker 1: behind the sticks, the sacks, all the plays that happened there.
- 13:22Speaker 1: But well, we've talked about it several times already. One
- 13:25Speaker 1: of the bright spots on offense was the Seahawks running
- 13:27Speaker 1: game getting going, trying to get back into this football game.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And that's when Zach Charboney took it into the end
- 13:32Speaker 1: zone for twenty four yards out.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Move back to the line of scrimmage, quick count, hand
- 13:39Speaker 3: off to charbon Ay God Bluckers goes right side, turns
- 13:42Speaker 3: up field.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Ten five touchdown Jayhawks. Well called series by Ryan Grubb
- 13:53Speaker 2: and the booth next shoor to us.
- 13:55Speaker 5: But very well done by Sam Howe finding his receivers
- 13:59Speaker 5: and then changing up with a run right side, caught
- 14:03Speaker 5: the Packers sleeping good blockers out in front of charbon Hay,
- 14:07Speaker 5: and he scores his third touchdown in two weeks.
- 14:11Speaker 4: A couple things happening. Here's some adjustments, man. So last
- 14:13Speaker 4: week we saw the guard tackle pool. Today or yesterday
- 14:17Speaker 4: it was the center guard pool. An adjustment they made.
- 14:19Speaker 4: They're in the two x two formation. You have to
- 14:21Speaker 4: tight end to the right side of Sam Howe. Typically
- 14:24Speaker 4: when they're running this kind of Penn and Pool type concept,
- 14:26Speaker 4: you have to tight end attached to the offensive line,
- 14:29Speaker 4: and it doesn't give him the angle to really try
- 14:31Speaker 4: to seal the edge right there. So what they do
- 14:33Speaker 4: is they bump him out in a traditional two by
- 14:34Speaker 4: two type of look. Therefore he has the angle on
- 14:37Speaker 4: that end and does a great job. Believe that is
- 14:39Speaker 4: aj Varner no no offense does a good job just
- 14:43Speaker 4: sealing the end. And now you got Sundale and Lalmeya
- 14:47Speaker 4: getting to the outside getting around and then a big
- 14:49Speaker 4: block over there by the wide receiver as well getting
- 14:52Speaker 4: to that second level.
- 14:54Speaker 2: This is what they imagine when they were drawing up
- 14:57Speaker 2: this pin pool to the outside.
- 14:59Speaker 4: I think this has to be a halftime or a
- 15:01Speaker 4: late game adjustment moving the tight end off the attachment
- 15:05Speaker 4: to the offensive line just to give them space, winding
- 15:07Speaker 4: them ups.
- 15:07Speaker 2: He can block down and get that angle.
- 15:09Speaker 4: The rest now is just Zach charvaday Man's showing that speed,
- 15:12Speaker 4: showing the vision in the balance on the sideline, getting
- 15:15Speaker 4: in and giving everyone and looming a little bit of hope.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, no, absolutely, I love that we've been able to
- 15:20Speaker 1: see the wheels from Sharbonnay that he can separate from
- 15:23Speaker 1: people in the open field. And you mentioned it, that
- 15:25Speaker 1: was JSN on that block kind of cracks down anytime
- 15:28Speaker 1: you're seeing really, receivers don't get enough credit for this.
- 15:32Speaker 1: More often than not, if you see a big run
- 15:33Speaker 1: by running back, there was a block by receiver downfield
- 15:36Speaker 1: cleaning that thing up. So love to see it from JSN.
- 15:38Speaker 1: And we know they can do it. We've seen it
- 15:41Speaker 1: in spurts. But football is a game of you got people.
- 15:44Speaker 1: That sounds simple, but you gotta stay on schedule. You
- 15:46Speaker 1: got to be here when you're behind the sticks. When
- 15:48Speaker 1: you're not staying on the football field, it's hard to
- 15:50Speaker 1: get some of these concepts. It's hard to get to
- 15:51Speaker 1: some of these plays. But you're right. I love what
- 15:54Speaker 1: we saw from Sharbonnay. He was able to give the
- 15:56Speaker 1: Sea offf fans a little bit of hope is they
- 15:57Speaker 1: were hoping to get back in that football game. We're
- 16:00Speaker 1: broadcasting live from Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented by Sony, the
- 16:03Speaker 1: official partner of the Seattle Seahawks this NFL season.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Feel every play, every hit, every.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Moment with the Sony one thousand XM five noise canceling headphones,
- 16:12Speaker 1: the official partner of the Seattle Seahawks, and with premium
- 16:15Speaker 1: noise cancelation, you're in the zone, no distractions, just pure football.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Whether you're in your living room or on the go,
- 16:20Speaker 1: You'll never miss a beat with Sony headphones.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Bump. We've been on a good run. Yep. It was fun.
- 16:27Speaker 2: We've been on a good run. We were down a
- 16:29Speaker 2: little bit, we were down bad, lost five or six. Yep.
- 16:31Speaker 2: It's been up and down right. We were three and zero,
- 16:33Speaker 2: lost five s. We can handle this. We've been through
- 16:35Speaker 2: a lot one four in a row. Unfortunately, Seahawks could
- 16:38Speaker 2: not get it done. The clock just ran out on me.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Taken by They're just gonna let the clock wind down.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I'm not even gonna bother taking that last time out.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, bump it was.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It was one of those days and the Seahawks they
- 16:52Speaker 1: didn't have it. You know, you talked about it in baseball.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Sometimes you don't have your fastball and we don't have
- 16:57Speaker 1: your fastball. Sometimes they jump on you in the early innings.
- 16:59Speaker 1: That kind of happened in the game on Sunday. Struggled offensively,
- 17:03Speaker 1: allowing seven sacks, only getting to the end zone once,
- 17:06Speaker 1: and obviously the big story come out of the game
- 17:07Speaker 1: with Geno Smith. Yeah, completely changed the projection of where
- 17:11Speaker 1: the game was going. The plays, the offense have everything,
- 17:13Speaker 1: they practice, He's getting all the reps. So we were
- 17:15Speaker 1: praying he's out there next week. I want to see
- 17:17Speaker 1: a healthy Geno Smith, of course, as we had down
- 17:20Speaker 1: this stretch run.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I love to see Geno out there. It doesn't
- 17:22Speaker 4: sound too serious, but you never really know. Right right
- 17:26Speaker 4: after the game, Mike MacDonalds talks to the media, he's
- 17:29Speaker 4: gonna be optimistic as long as there isn't really evident
- 17:33Speaker 4: ligament damage or broken bone anything like that. But we
- 17:35Speaker 4: shall see Sam how he struggled, and that's fair man.
- 17:39Speaker 4: He was thrown out there, thrown out there with the Wolves.
- 17:42Speaker 4: You know, I ain't got any reps all year when
- 17:44Speaker 4: it comes to regular season play, so I didn't really
- 17:47Speaker 4: expect much out of it. If he does get the
- 17:49Speaker 4: start this week, we shall see. He'll have a full
- 17:51Speaker 4: week to prepare as if he is a starter. The
- 17:53Speaker 4: Shawks turned the ball over twice and lost time a
- 17:56Speaker 4: possession that is crucial. And then Josh Jacobs, if Derek
- 18:00Speaker 4: Henry and Saquon aren't having the year they're having, we
- 18:04Speaker 4: got more eyes and ears on this young man. Finished
- 18:08Speaker 4: the day with one hundred and thirty six total yards
- 18:10Speaker 4: and a touchdown in the Seahawks man, they slowed them
- 18:14Speaker 4: down to the second half, but it was that first
- 18:16Speaker 4: two to three drives that really got him going and
- 18:20Speaker 4: put points on the board.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Yeah, he finished with ninety four rushing yards. I believe
- 18:23Speaker 1: he had seventy at the half. So the damage was
- 18:26Speaker 1: done in the first quarter. And that's the other thing.
- 18:28Speaker 1: So shout out to the Seahawks defense in the coaching
- 18:29Speaker 1: staff for making that adjustment. I think sometimes in years
- 18:32Speaker 1: pass with their defense. Recently, if we were getting gashed
- 18:36Speaker 1: with something in the first quarter, we were getting gassed
- 18:38Speaker 1: with it in the fourth quarter.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yeah, is what it is, so they made the adjustment.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Unfortunately it was after the Packers had jumped up to
- 18:43Speaker 1: a fourteen doz in lead, but it was good to
- 18:44Speaker 1: see them make that second half adjustment. Hopefully they can
- 18:48Speaker 1: kind of correct the course a little bit. The last
- 18:49Speaker 1: two games we've allowed points on the first possession, so
- 18:51Speaker 1: hopefully coming up the Seahawks can kind of figure that
- 18:54Speaker 1: out and then shout out JASN. We talked about hip
- 18:57Speaker 1: team leading seventh straight game leading team receivers and Jack
- 19:01Speaker 1: Sarbagney was productive of what he had so wasn't didn't
- 19:04Speaker 1: go to Yak's way. But I'm hoping we can figure
- 19:06Speaker 1: it out because everything is still in front of him.
- 19:08Speaker 1: But ever, we've talked about being a playoff game every week, Well,
- 19:12Speaker 1: this Sunday's the playoff game.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Well, you just played a playoff team in the Green
- 19:15Speaker 4: Bay Packers, right, you felt that, So now you get
- 19:18Speaker 4: to go up against the Vikings, who are who can
- 19:20Speaker 4: potentially win their division. Right, it's going crazy with the
- 19:22Speaker 4: Detroit Lions, all the injuries they have, so they have
- 19:24Speaker 4: something to play for too, so you know they're gonna
- 19:26Speaker 4: get there. You're gonna get their best shot and get
- 19:28Speaker 4: ready for Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Hockinson, Sam Darnold. The
- 19:32Speaker 4: Brian Flores defense should be a good one. But uh,
- 19:35Speaker 4: let's pray for Geno and Olu make sure they're good
- 19:36Speaker 4: to go.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yeah, no question about it. And I said that this
- 19:40Speaker 1: is obviously a playoff game on Sunday. They've been playing
- 19:42Speaker 1: playoff games for the last four weeks. Their season would
- 19:45Speaker 1: have been in trouble if they didn't go down there
- 19:46Speaker 1: and take care of the forty nine ers. Finally, who
- 19:48Speaker 1: would have been in trouble? If you need to beat
- 19:50Speaker 1: the Cardinals at home, would have been in trouble. If
- 19:51Speaker 1: you gonna beat the Cardinals on the road, would have
- 19:52Speaker 1: been in trouble. If you gonna be the So they've
- 19:54Speaker 1: been used to this atmosphere, so let's just see them
- 19:56Speaker 1: take it that next step. Close out the regular season
- 19:59Speaker 1: at home with a win. So hopefully we'll be back
- 20:02Speaker 1: at Luminfield.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Keep let's go hol On. I feel good about it.
- 20:06Speaker 2: We'll talk about it, Bump. You mentioned the Vikings.
- 20:08Speaker 1: They got some stud linebackers, Almos, they can fire rind.
- 20:12Speaker 1: We will break down everything you need to know about
- 20:14Speaker 1: the Minnesota Vikings and our preview podcasts. Make sure you
- 20:18Speaker 1: can catch us anywhere seahawks dot com, YouTube, under the
- 20:22Speaker 1: Seahawks Pressure Channel, Apple Podcasts, Spotify more. He's Michael Bumpus,
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'm NASA Chobey. This has been Hawk Talk. Hopefully we'll
- 20:29Speaker 1: be talking to you next Monday about a Seahawks win,
- 20:31Speaker 1: but which you get you set with the vikings coming
- 20:33Speaker 1: up on Thursday.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Talk to you next time.
