- 0:00Speaker 1: Oh with that before you leave, should you buy a
- 0:02Speaker 1: home and renovate it or should you build from ground up?
- 0:06Speaker 2: You're a shot panel right now.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Well, we all got a similar experience because we all
- 0:11Speaker 3: built the home.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Yeah, So I personally would say, if you want to
- 0:16Speaker 4: make the maximum margin on the deal, build right. That's
- 0:21Speaker 4: going to give you the maximum return. But you need
- 0:23Speaker 4: to have the right team.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 0:26Speaker 4: That's strictly for live men, not for freshmen. If you've
- 0:29Speaker 4: never done it before, stick to rehabs. It's quicker, it's easier,
- 0:34Speaker 4: you can learn a lot. You can still make good money.
- 0:37Speaker 4: But I don't think you can go wrong with either all.
- 0:39Speaker 4: What's your thoughts on that, Troy shot.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I think the most important thing you said was have
- 0:44Speaker 3: the right team, because without them, it's going to be
- 0:49Speaker 3: even more delayed.
- 0:50Speaker 5: There's going to be cash grabs. It is cash intensive building.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I think the other thing you need to do is
- 0:55Speaker 3: study the municipality that you're building that house in to
- 0:59Speaker 3: know obviously from a legal standpoint, but from a permit
- 1:03Speaker 3: standpoint about how you get these permits and what can
- 1:06Speaker 3: be allowed and what is permitted, what is zone That
- 1:09Speaker 3: is important team permit and having cash man that's one
- 1:14Speaker 3: thing that they won't tell you that. You need to
- 1:15Speaker 3: know that this is a cash intensive and it can
- 1:18Speaker 3: be stressful. But having a strong team and having multiple
- 1:22Speaker 3: teams sometimes can help.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Shout it with your thoughts. Don't do it, you know, image, you.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Don't do it, Please don't do it. So ra shot
- 1:41Speaker 1: you would buy something and renovated, giving your experience a
- 1:44Speaker 1: beautiful staircase by the way, shout out.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I have to text you like, oh, thank you.
- 1:53Speaker 6: I appreciate that. The good thing I designed the house.
- 1:55Speaker 6: I did design the house. You know, it's one of
- 2:00Speaker 6: these things. The good thing about building a home is
- 2:02Speaker 6: that you get to build it right, you get to
- 2:05Speaker 6: design it. I'm meant to I'm into interior design, so
- 2:10Speaker 6: you know, most men are not into interior design. I'm
- 2:14Speaker 6: into interior design. So I enjoyed that part of the process.
- 2:17Speaker 6: But the amount of money is unbelievable, and the stress
- 2:24Speaker 6: and the delays and the hiccups and arguing with contractors
- 2:31Speaker 6: and man, it's something that I think, and you know,
- 2:39Speaker 6: I had a bad situation, so people obviously probably have
- 2:43Speaker 6: better situations than me. But it's unbelievable. It's actually unbelievable.
- 2:48Speaker 6: The amount of stress and the amount of money that
- 2:51Speaker 6: I personally have spent over the last four years. So
- 2:54Speaker 6: was it cool to design my house? Yes, because I
- 2:56Speaker 6: always liked sims growing up. So it is cool to
- 2:59Speaker 6: just say I I want this, I want that, I
- 3:01Speaker 6: want this, I want that, I want that, go to China.
- 3:03Speaker 6: That's all been cool. But if I had to do
- 3:06Speaker 6: it over, I would most likely not do this. I
- 3:11Speaker 6: would most likely not do this. Never again. Never again.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I mean it's never again.
- 3:18Speaker 3: That's why I said so, Like, even we've had these
- 3:20Speaker 3: conversations just like personally, right, I'm like, the process is
- 3:26Speaker 3: tedious and the glory is on the other side of
- 3:30Speaker 3: it when yes, you have created something. My situation is
- 3:34Speaker 3: obviously different, but I mean we're pretty much neighbors building
- 3:37Speaker 3: that with somebody waking up in it and realizing, like, Yo,
- 3:40Speaker 3: you really did this, Like this is something that you
- 3:42Speaker 3: really did, you accomplished it. It's something that you can
- 3:45Speaker 3: be proud of, It's something that your kids can be
- 3:47Speaker 3: proud of, but it's also something that your community can
- 3:49Speaker 3: be proud of. Right because we've kind of did this
- 3:52Speaker 3: anywhere in the world, Like the fact that we did it,
- 3:56Speaker 3: you know, in a place that is familiar to us
- 3:58Speaker 3: and that people that are from our community can look
- 4:01Speaker 3: at and say, Yo, these guys still in here giving
- 4:03Speaker 3: back to the community, but actually in the community that
- 4:05Speaker 3: are accessible to us. I think that part of it
- 4:09Speaker 3: is like, all right, bro, I get it. It's terrible, right,
- 4:14Speaker 3: And like I've had to watch him go through it.
- 4:15Speaker 3: He's watched me go through it as well. But like
- 4:18Speaker 3: that first night you sleep in there, it's like, Yo, damn,
- 4:20Speaker 3: I did this.
- 4:22Speaker 6: I'll say this too. Nobody talks about a lot of
- 4:26Speaker 6: people don't make it past this. Like even area that
- 4:29Speaker 6: we we live in, a lot of people built their homes.
- 4:32Speaker 6: One guy got divorced because he got it because one lady.
- 4:36Speaker 6: One bro couldn't finish the project. I actually developed sleep apnea,
- 4:40Speaker 6: I mean insomnia sleep insomnia for two years. One guy
- 4:44Speaker 6: developed a heart condition.
- 4:50Speaker 5: That was.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there is health stresses that pop up with these
- 5:00Speaker 1: financial issues though.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I'm not I'm not trying to be facetious yet. Yes,
- 5:06Speaker 3: and I've watched it because the steep he's talking about, literally,
- 5:09Speaker 3: I'm watching this happen to him, but I'm watching my
- 5:11Speaker 3: wife go through it too. Like the stress levels insomny
- 5:13Speaker 3: you can't sleep. I'm watching that and realizing that I
- 5:17Speaker 3: can't develop those things because there's people that are gonna
- 5:19Speaker 3: be relying on me, right Like, so I gotta have
- 5:22Speaker 3: That's just my spirit.
- 5:22Speaker 5: It's just like, I gotta be optimistic. Yo, when is
- 5:25Speaker 5: this gonna end?
- 5:26Speaker 3: It? Always it gets to that point, and Matt you
- 5:27Speaker 3: can speak to it too. It's like, Yo, when are.
- 5:29Speaker 5: We gonna stop spending at this level?
- 5:35Speaker 2: Is right? Though? Troy?
- 5:36Speaker 4: This ship is a pain in the ass, bro, This
- 5:38Speaker 4: is I'm nothing that. This is one of the most
- 5:41Speaker 4: stressful things that I've ever experienced in real estate. It
- 5:44Speaker 4: just doesn't make no sense some days, and it's just like, y'all,
- 5:47Speaker 4: I just feel like, y'all just I'm I'm some days
- 5:50Speaker 4: I'm just like I feel like I just want to
- 5:51Speaker 4: throw in the time with Like, but I'm like, I
- 5:53Speaker 4: didn't come as far to get this far, So I
- 5:55Speaker 4: gotta I gotta see this.
- 5:57Speaker 2: To the end, you know.
- 5:58Speaker 4: But I can't wait to have that experience, like you're saying,
- 6:01Speaker 4: just to wake up and you're being your joint After
- 6:04Speaker 4: all the blood, sweat and tears and all the hundreds
- 6:07Speaker 4: and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars that you
- 6:10Speaker 4: have spent, like you need to be able to enjoy it.
- 6:13Speaker 4: So I know there's going to be a rainbow after
- 6:15Speaker 4: the storm, but it's just like damn this need to
- 6:17Speaker 4: hurry up.
- 6:18Speaker 3: So that that's the thing, right, So like I've been
- 6:20Speaker 3: able to do that and even now, like I'll wake
- 6:22Speaker 3: up and just be like, yo, look at God, Like
- 6:27Speaker 3: God is really the greatest, to a point where sometimes
- 6:31Speaker 3: out like where am I and this is really like
- 6:33Speaker 3: where I'm living, like this is crazy. But that just
- 6:35Speaker 3: goes to like, yeah, I know, people say when you're
- 6:38Speaker 3: in it, it fucking sucks. It does fucking suck, and.
- 6:40Speaker 5: They're like, yo, don't worry.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You won't think about as much as when you're living
- 6:44Speaker 3: here and it's a part of your every day, you know,
- 6:47Speaker 3: you can really be proud of it. And like, slowly
- 6:49Speaker 3: I'm feeling that because I'm still like I'm still building,
- 6:53Speaker 3: there's still pieces that I'm at and I'll text you,
- 6:55Speaker 3: I'll call you after this so you can see what
- 6:56Speaker 3: we just did.
- 6:58Speaker 5: But it's slowly happening.
- 7:01Speaker 3: I mean, I mean I watch it, I'm watching him
- 7:03Speaker 3: go through it. I'm like, yeah, been, I know exactly
- 7:05Speaker 3: what he's feeling because it's like, damn, you know.
- 7:08Speaker 2: One of them is about a year and a half,
- 7:10Speaker 2: got car shot.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Like you're you good? He like yeah, I'm like, I
- 7:12Speaker 1: know you're not good. I know you're not sleeping. These
- 7:16Speaker 1: are the other parts of the conversations that have to
- 7:18Speaker 1: be had too. I keep telling you, after you get
- 7:20Speaker 1: the money, they have a thousand ways to take it from.
- 7:23Speaker 4: You, and they go fastil building a house, you'll see
- 7:28Speaker 4: your money go fast.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 6: And it's like I said, nothing like every day. It's
- 7:33Speaker 6: every I've spent money every single day. But you know,
- 7:35Speaker 6: I moved in. The house is not done yet, but
- 7:38Speaker 6: you know, we're working around construction, but it's you know,
- 7:41Speaker 6: it's it's it's coming together, like you know, you know
- 7:45Speaker 6: all right, if you get married. They say this isn't
- 7:48Speaker 6: something you should into unadvised something like that, Like that's
- 7:52Speaker 6: they say you should seek counsel. This isn't something that
- 7:54Speaker 6: you should into unadvised.
- 7:56Speaker 2: M h.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Building a home or even buying a home. Buying a
- 8:01Speaker 6: home is not something you should enter unadvised. Great, Like
- 8:06Speaker 6: that's a big, big, big deal. It's a commitment. And
- 8:09Speaker 6: you know me, I never lived in a home. So
- 8:11Speaker 6: even now it feels slightly weird, like waking up like
- 8:17Speaker 6: by myself in a home. It's kind of it's kind
- 8:20Speaker 6: of a big it's a big space. Feel slightly weird, honestly,
- 8:25Speaker 6: like you know, to be completely honest about it.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Put the family in there. We talked about Black.
- 8:33Speaker 5: I'm eating lunch these guys in my front yard.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Man.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Yeah, Bro, I mean look, yeahs shoddy man, I have
- 8:45Speaker 4: more kids or something.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Bro.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, come on, man, I'm just saying you might
- 8:53Speaker 3: have to like pop out two more or something.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I don't know, like you got that big you know,
- 8:57Speaker 4: like y'all got that big credit about like pause, but
- 9:04Speaker 4: like that one is crazy.
- 9:07Speaker 5: I'm just saying though, like respect for yourself.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I'm just saying God is good, Bro, God is good.
- 9:16Speaker 2: God is good. God is good. As the follow up
- 9:18Speaker 2: is crazy. Respect all right, MG.
- 9:25Speaker 6: Always always a pleasure, Bro.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I appreciate you. I appreciate the love. That's always man.
- 9:33Speaker 2: All right, what a little overtime.
- 9:35Speaker 6: But that home conversation is we gotta talk about that
- 9:38Speaker 6: on Black album, man, because that it's an emotional conversation,
- 9:42Speaker 6: because it's ups and downs, it's it's good things, it's
- 9:45Speaker 6: bad things. It's money spent, it's you know, it's triumphs,
- 9:48Speaker 6: his failures. It's so many different things that that go
- 9:51Speaker 6: into buying a home building a home. And like I said,
- 9:55Speaker 6: most of the time when people build a home, they
- 9:59Speaker 6: let's say a man, their wife is doing a lot
- 10:02Speaker 6: of that, or they have an interior designer.
