- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's been, um,
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: It hasn't even been a minute.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's been like a weekend since we said I know her couple days may come talk to you.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that glory is easy.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about that on the pod like we'll talk about that on the pod like we guys there.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: There are there are words to be said about that whole Anthony Joshua Jake Paul fight and then and then even the aftermath of it too
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've got I've definitely got thoughts for sure.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: I definitely have thoughts But Jack it is it is a Christmas season this episode is releasing on Christmas.

- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to comment on like the social media, like let us know.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: Like you were part of an elite squad that is pulling up on Christmas day.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: Who's though?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know what we need it's a formatory.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: How many over under comments are we gonna get on that?
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think it like three.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna go.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna keep it at the Trinity dude I'm gonna keep it at three over under.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm gonna get on that.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't think that's gonna show up on on what is it?
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I don't think I don't think the sports, the sports books are going to are going to even hold that one.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, if this is you listening to the reformatory on Christmas day, then let your voice be known.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: I want to know.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: And that's that's that's impressive.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's impressive.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, Merry Christmas to everybody.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: Hope that the holiday season has been enjoyable and that it's been relaxing and you can spend some time with family.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: This is releasing.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, we're going to try to go see my folks.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to try to make it over the mountains, but the thing is everything's closed because of the floods, yeah, you got to go I didn't do do I got to go now to four or five and hit I night.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a night mayor.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because we have the past that that goes out of seed row that closes every year just because it's not very maintained, but then we normally take highway too when that's closed go through 11 worth and when actually that roadways gone.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, the river there's only like look the roadway.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's only like isn't there one is there one lane of roaders.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: It completely just won't.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's gone.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's gone.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you can't you can't get my check.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: There was one lane that it took and maybe the erosion just took it all.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: You cannot get into love with more things.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: Shesh.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: It is closed for a while.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to see what we can do.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to see what we can do.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, so this is going to be a pretty laid-back episode.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about some things that we've been enjoying recently, kind of an off-topic for the reformatory, more of a riff-up.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember the riff-ups we used to do?
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, dude.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: I remember the little little rip a rip an app kind of like we are you know, this this may not be kid friendly, but like RIP a sig You know, yeah, absolutely ripping apps a long draw long draw right so yeah, so this is just going to be a fun laid back
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but Jack as always though, I'd be remiss if I did not bring some amazing amazing
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: videos to us for everyone's favorite segment.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Don't forget to eat your Instagram Christmas edition.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: This is, don't forget to eat your instant grams and remember kids.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's not heresy, if you believe it hard enough that is how it works.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: Jack, I have two videos for you today, my friend, both from Christmas services from different churches.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I know this because of the backgrounds of the stages.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: So, both of these strangely are music involved.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and both yeah, both are both are happening during during during the Christmas season.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: So the first one I have for you, Jack is
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: This is what happens when a pastor thinks that he has like he has a good impression of a very well-known singer from a band and he's got to fit it in he's got to He can't sing the actual song because that would be too much for church, but let's change the lyrics.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let's change the lyrics, but keep the tune Jack.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: for the glory that awaits you.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_04]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, this is what happens when you order Brian Johnson off of wish and like Chris, Chris, Chris, Chris, wish, Brian, like Brian Johnson.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's going for it.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's going for it on that one.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's drawing to the tune of Thunderstruck by ECBC.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: The only thing, the only thing good about this video is the instrumentation.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: The, the, the, the, the controller player's got to go in on.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: He's at that riff real well.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Um, everything else is cringe.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the whole thing's poor.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: The whole, I mean, the whole, yeah, it's just, please don't do us.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you're listening, and this is the first time listening to, don't forget to eat your Instagrams and you think this is a good idea.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Just stop.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Get some help.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a good idea.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, you should not do this and you should have known better.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, see, this is what happens when, like, you need people in your life that tell you.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: not yes man yeah it's like no that's a horrible idea you know what that's a really bad idea I can see how that played out better in the shower in your head but for church it's not gonna fly okay this next individual definitely needed somebody to tell them no because she thought oh no in the shower that morning
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you know what, you know what my church needs is for me to do a really bad cover Oh, I know.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I know.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: This is not church.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: I love, I like the caption.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the caption is when you win the church karaoke Christmas battle, but accidentally look like a reindeer burning in hell.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's not.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for the audio listeners only.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's not a massive screen.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just fire.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a fuck that's not supposed to be that's not an own.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's a big fat L dude.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's supposed to be like the like, you know, atmospheric Christmas fire.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like you like a you'll time log and it's a dude.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's so bad.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's so okay in hell.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, okay, if this is a church service, that's the was service church service that if it's just a Christmas party Okay, that's another different level, but still terrible.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and I see in a Great song but you're like that like I like I'll get that was a correct right.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: Let's share Preach preacher
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's a yeah, yeah, it's not bad, but Jack that is this this week's who Christmas edition of the instant grams always coming in strong with the content Oh, dude.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait for the new years edition coming up next week that one's gonna be I'm assuming there's gonna be some some hot garbage Pressure because one's coming down the bike at that one Yeah, it's it's it's it's
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: Every time you think like, okay, I've probably reached the end of the content.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: Now, it just keeps giving.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: It just, like, it just, the cringe keeps cringing, and it just keeps raining down on us in plentiful bounty.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know what?
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to rock with it as long as we can.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: But Jack,
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: my friend.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: It is the Christmas season.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's coming to the end of the year.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: It has been quite a year for the reformatory.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if people saw our our our our our our Spotify wrapped.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: But but our our podcasts keeps growing my friend.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: We have grown leaps and bounds.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: What was that number that was just astronomically crazy?
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: It was like 300 in like 76% listener and it wasn't listener engagement.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: It was like listener like I can't remember the person.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, it was it was so so our our total audience right and again this is just based on Spotify
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: Right, so this isn't taking into account the other listing platformers, but just a little recap of the reformatory this this year, which has been really, really cool to see and such a blessing.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: Let me get to the right page here.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so our total audience went up 65% 65% Increase in our in our listenership.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's
- 12:54[SPEAKER_02]: insane yeah um total new audience so so new people finding us this year was 999% okay that was the crazy number yeah huge man
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: we have had more people discover the reformatory this year in 2025 than any other year than we have been podcasting yeah i can i can think of a couple reasons why but yeah i think the pattern the pattern showing us love was a big one yeah um i think i think the i think the fact the other people are dropping out and we're kind of
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: We're not, it's not so much like, don't say that, don't say it like that, don't say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you say it like that, you
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's rough, man.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's, hey, you know what, one man's trash is another man's treasure, okay?
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll take all the treasures.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: So like I said, like I said, it's highly true style.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: There can only be one.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: They can only be one.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, do get out until there's only one.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, exactly.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: Total listening time went up 79 percent, which is huge.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's really, really cool.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: Top countries.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously the states, USA.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: right, but then after that, we're trending in the UK.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: We're trending in New Zealand.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then Canada and Australia.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the top top five countries.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: So basically, all of Britain's former conquests are like we're in the.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: And we're in.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: We're living in their minds rent for you now.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: We are.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: We are.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: We were a 20 25 marathon show, meaning people listening from beginning to end without stopping 20 25 talked about show.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people sharing the podcast in 2025, which is really, really cool.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's a just really,
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: This may be left.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: The top shows that other listeners of the reformatory frequent, okay, are you ready for some of these?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so the first guys.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you probably better remember this.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: So apparently we're popular with the bros because
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: work.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's surprising.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: Number one is Joe Rogan.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and again, this is just on Spotify, right?
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: So our Apple, our Apple, what's the word associated?
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, that's a little bit different.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: It is different, but at least on Spotify.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: Joe Rogan experience was was first.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so a lot of people listened to the Joe Rogan experience and then hop over to the reformer to Thanks for that.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I should ask or or the other way around.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you're listening to the reformer story.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, all right, time for some Rogan second one.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: Again, a lot of drama surrounding this recently, but, you know,
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a interesting situation there coming in strong on the third is the packedum.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: God, a love the packedum got to give the packedum some love my friend.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, love those guys over there.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: I know we've had listeners find the reformatory because of the packedum and that's that's super cool.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: We really really appreciate that number four.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: Number four, we got the Ben Shapiro show.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: So they're listening to the Ben Shapiro show.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then when they get tired of the Ben Shapiro, they're hopping over to their former Tory because the former Tory is amazing.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what's happening.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: And the number five, Al Moller, lock in a down.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: Which I don't get that, I don't get that either.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get that either.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm older, um, again, uh, and again, nothing against I'm older.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's just that that that that wouldn't surprise me.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_02]: That wouldn't surprise me.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: We I don't think you could have two podcasts more different than the briefing true and the reformatory, but all that to say, um, huge year for the reformatory.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: We did some numbers and that is all thanks to you listeners, sharing the podcasts, sharing episodes.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard from multiple listeners how they will be encouraged by an app or something like that and they'll send it to their elders, listen to their pastors so that they can be encouraged as well like that.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's huge.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: That, that, that to me is the most encouraging when I hear that because it, that is the purpose of the reformatory.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's to encourage people in their love and commitment to the local church.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: And when I hear that that's working, that an episode did that, you know, the amount of people that we hear, you know, talk to us or send us messages or comments saying like,
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: The Lord used this podcast to show me that my commitment to the local church was not where it needed to be, right?
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: Or my love for the local church was, was not as great as it should be, right?
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: Or to confirm and increase the calling that people have in their local church just, dude, it doesn't get any better than that.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's so cool.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, huge, huge year for the reformatory this year.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: Because I can't say, thank you enough.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: Did Apple give us anything, like, a dozen of browns?
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: Apple doesn't do like a wrapped thing for a lot now.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: Podcastors, I know.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: You'd think that they would, right?
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: You'd think that that would be something that they'd want to start rolling out.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they do a wrapped for, for Apple listeners, in terms of like what music and things like, you know, you listen to.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: But not so much for,
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: not so much for people that are in the podcasting like game.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: So that's interesting.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's interesting.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, that's fine.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: It is, it is, it is what it is.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, great year for the reformatory.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: Super excited for what's coming up next.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: But Jack, we're going to talk about some Christmas things.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about some things that we're enjoying.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to look back on this year and kind of see some things that we have really kind of kind of, yeah, just just enjoyed about the year, whether it's conceptual things or tangible things.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: I will throw the first one out there.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: I have received, I got to do a little shout out again to our friends over at Broken Warf.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: Bookstore.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: Did you get it?
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: Did you get your shout out?
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: I did.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: I finally got my stuff.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: Broken Warf put out a beautiful
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: Beautiful leather bound is that burgundy copy.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's the I got the burgundy because I knew that was going to look good But it's a leather bound addition of the Baptist confession of faith and the Baptist Catechism so yeah, and you open that sucker up and the first thing that you see is a beautiful look at that very nice
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't that nice?
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm showing those that are on the for those that are listening.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm showing it on the canvas.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm showing pictures of them showing pictures of it.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let's let's check this out here.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: Let's check this out.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: Look at that.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: Look at the table of contents.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we got.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: I love the design of this thing.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Let me show you chapter one so you can kind of see the typeface and what we're looking at here.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: I really, really like this and I think it looks awesome.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: so that's the typeface.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that looks beautiful.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that kind of that?
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: That kind of looks like the typeface that the CSB uses.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if anybody from Broken War is listening to this.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: Do you use the typeface from the CSB standard Bible?
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it looks it looks eerily similar, but I don't know if it's
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: quite on point like that.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: At least in my, my church fathers, CSB edition, right?
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like that, but right, but here, let's check this out.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: Look at those headings.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: Art those nice, very nice.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: Art those nice man and it goes through the whole, the whole confession.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, and then in the back, they've got the Baptist
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: uh... and it's it's it's it's just a great condensed up beautifully designed and uh...
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: those guys those guys in Britain are nailing it man like they're doing some good work they're doing some good work so that's something that I've been really really enjoying recently is just this little guy it's compact so you can fit in a book bag super easy and you can just keep that in there and pull that out like this is going to probably replace the pocket 1689 that I have because this also has this also has the
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: my daily carry if you will my daily confessional carry and yeah I'm really really yeah this is still mine right here that I'm working with yep yep so that's the one and that's a great copy that's the one that I've got and I love that one that's probably going to make its way to the bookshelf for home use and the only reason I'm going to go with this one in the bag
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: is because it's nice.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and it's hard copy, right?
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: I flimsy something that I hate about the vast majority of book bags that I've used is that when I put it like it just did just happen to my preaching Bible this Sunday.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: I was at church.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't preaching, but I brought my book back in and pulled my Bible out.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I saw the the like crank in the pages of the Bible, yeah, I hate that so much right and and it's not it, you know, it's not a hard shell by more right, yeah, it's soft and really it's a nice Bible one of my elders got it for me as a gift and I love it.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: But the page has got crimpled and I hate that.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm I'm gonna switch to this Simply one.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: I love the design but two because it's hard cover and you're not gonna get the crinkly pages It's not gonna bend and warp while it's in your book bag and I find that if I'm very very valuable.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: How about you?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: What's something you've been enjoying this year?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to throw it to you.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: Can I be so bold to say freedom?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: No way.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Not being jailed, right?
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: That changes your perspective.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Can I say not being, not being held up by the man?
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's, I mean, it always kind of changes.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like it changes month-to-month ever since my run-in with the justice system.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, there's like, and I mean, thankfully, like the Attorney General's Office in Washington State.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, was able to give me like an hour consultation with another lawyer for free, and that kind of gave me some ideas where I can take to another lawyer from some folks that we know at Sacred Smoke, who recommended some lawyers that I can take that to them and see if that's something worth we can pursue.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think, I mean, just the situations.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: knowing what I know now and that, um, yeah, it's, I'm very thankful that, and it's, and it's a reminder too.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, sometimes I drive.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: So the jail in which I was at is literally about maybe like 10 or less minutes away from my house.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: And it's on kind of like a main thoroughway into coma.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's like right in the center
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: So, when I go by there, it's just like this Ebenezer that sticks out, that's always a reminder.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, this probably has to be saved for maybe like another episode or something like that.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: But I saw a guy who was not, I would say we have
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can sympathize with him.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: So he had a way worse case.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: He was, um, he was accused of raping.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry to say this.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was accused of raping a girl down in Texas.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: He did not commit that crime at all.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: And he spent like six, I think it was six to nine years in jail, imprisoned.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: So he was convicted.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: Then he was, then they said, uh, no, this other guy who looked very similar to him,
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was the culprit and so new evidence came forward and then he got released and it seemed like from his testimony.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like a short Instagram reel, but I think the problem with that and why I say what I'm saying right now is because he said, you know, I'm thankful that I met God and prison and this is just like what I dreamed about and his
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: after it goes through this real of him kind of like getting convicted pictures of him getting convicted being in prison then getting released.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: It shows him and he quotes Jeremiah 2911 and then he talks about it's looking at I'm clearly his wife because I know it from a story that I read about him and I think it's his daughter.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just like, you know, that's not honestly, that's the prosperity gospel version.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think of what God wants for for Christians when they experience something like being imprisoned or detained.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: Because what God wants us to learn,
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: is how we can suffer and how we can know Jesus through our suffering.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: Not that somehow our dreams got accomplished through him.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: But it's how have we known him better through that suffering?
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: How have we known him better through that trial versus
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to get out of it and God's going to bless me and get me out of it.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I don't deny that God has a plan for people, but don't use a scripture like that.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we know the contextual language of what Jeremiah was saying to the people Israel and use it as a way to almost frame it like
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, and yeah, I mean, God freed you like he gave clarity and wisdom to people to friendly for you at a prison, which was egregious.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like people completely miss the point when it comes to their trials with the justice system.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: and they completely look at it as if to say, well, this was just God, this was the, I mean, this is, this is the typical thing.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: That was the devil, getting in and getting in the way of my, of my purpose, right?
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't think that's, I don't think necessarily that's the truth.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: There's a component to that, that, yes, that could be spiritual warfare.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I think during that trial, what are you doing?
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for him, obviously he came to Christ to that time, so praise God.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, but I think the way in which we frame things that happen in our lives are not so much on the level of Okay, you've gone through this really hard trial.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: How have you Met God in that?
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: How has God revealed himself to you more deeper?
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: And deeper way through the scriptures?
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: I know for me through that time and I and I testified to this at our Christmas party Last Friday not last Friday a couple of Fridays ago
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: When I just said like it's bizarre, it is like a bad episode of the office that you're experiencing.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so part of it is you're kind of laughing at it.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: You're kind of like having that humor of like laughing at the situation.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: But the other part of it is like, okay, Jesus, now I can kind of somewhat understand.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: what kind of ridiculousness you were going through when you were being illegally sent through a justice system that had no regard for you at all.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like was strictly bent on killing you for the fact of who you are and you're the son of God, you are Lord, you're our king.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, that's that's something that I'm thankful for as as as crazy as it may sound.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think that time really helped me understand and sympathize with Jesus and kind of suffer with him on a deeper level than I've had at any other time in my life.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I think it's crazy to say sometimes that you're thankful for it.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: You're not thankful like, okay, I'm thankful like this happened to me.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm thankful that God met me in that.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then he didn't leave me alone out of that.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think that's the thing that I think it's just really honestly it's like God's Presence and really tough times.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even to like what I've had to go through in this year of being laid off and trying to find work like God still like that stuff is
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm not thankful for God just like meeting me constantly in the little things of the day or just helping me and just little things not just for provision and stuff like that but just helping me to understand things bigger than just the
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: he's providing for me in these other different aspects.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's, I think we, at least for me, you miss out on a lot of things.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm really thankful for it to be quite honest, all of you who are praying for my time.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: While I was going through this, I think there was a, I know Josh and other people that we mentioned.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if we mentioned it on the, one of the podlocks.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: when we were still kind of like it was still kind of up in limbo or not, but if you've prayed for any of the situation that I've gone through this last year with the justice system, like I appreciate you all and it's kind of interesting to deal with that and to then kind of
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Um, new way of ministering to other people, where they look at you and they don't think that you've suffered anything hard in your life and like, oh, yeah, I went to jail this summer and they're like, excuse me.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh, yeah, that happened and it happens to people.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so yeah.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't say that I'm necessarily thankful for that, but what I am grateful for is that the Lord was with me through that whole time.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was making me laugh at the most ridiculous things like these little times where it's like, oh, it's like just just in the in-processing of the jail, it was almost like he kind of gave me a little bit of levity.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: When I was telling this to like the deputies sure like what's happening?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like oh, yeah, this is happening and they're like how Like I'm not seeing this on this screen right now that you are the person that we're trying to get and I'm like oh I'm like you can figure it out.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, yeah, that was quite the interesting thankful grateful time for me
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, it's been it's been quite the year.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, obviously for the podcast, but but personally, right?
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's those those those were not for scene events that that that we we walked through, but the Lord the Lord is faithful to to bring us through it.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_02]: So that's that's good and exciting.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, that part we're thankful for circumstances were rough.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was that that that was not easy.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: I will say on like a more lighter note, I think what I'm enjoying most about this season too is to see my son kind of last year, my son was just barely walking and he was kind of still grabbing that stuff.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's starting to comprehend like Christmas stories and he's starting to comprehend Advent and starting to comprehend a little bit of this kind of Advent season going in a Christmas
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's the, that's the fun thing about being a parent and being a dad and and being a husband is, you know, you get to go through, you know, these little times, where it's very, you know, to use a lesser word magical time of the season.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: And you get to kind of like walk your kids, at least walk my son through that and, you know, parent through that as well too.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's a little bit of a fun time that we're kind of dealing with.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he, I think that this is the first year he's seen Rudolph, the red nose reindeer, the claymation.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, nice, nice, just the, I'm now realizing like that, that show was so like not like you had a guy who was a, you got the Yukon Cornelius character.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: If y'all remember, that dude was open-carrying, like had a pistol right on his belly and as you do, as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his belly and as you do, right on his
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: heck, I wish it was that way today.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: No, all those old clay nation, all those old clay nation ones are awesome.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: My favorite was always a Santa Claus is coming to town because he had the the heat miser and oh dear.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: Free freeze miser songs.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_02]: So it's just like a mar yeah those those were great.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: Oh man.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of music, a couple albums that I've really enjoyed this year.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't come out this year.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: Well, one of them might
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: So, I'm not a frequent listener of the band, a demon hunter, but they came out with an album this year called There Was A Light Here, that in my opinion is a diversion from their normal sound.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I really dig the album.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a fantastic album.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: The title track will rip your heart out.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: Great song.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: Um, one, my favorite track on there is I'm done by demon hunter.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: their most recent album, love it.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: Really, really great sound, love the chunky guitars.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's a departure from their normal sound in my opinion, which is maybe why I like it.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: Second album would be a band called War of Ages, and their album called Dominion.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: If you're into some of the heavier stuff, yeah, definitely heavier than demon hunter war of ages is a great album or excuse me, great band and they're particularly the album Dominion I really really enjoyed this year there they there there's they've got another album I think it was.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_02]: void.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was void.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_02]: That came out in 19.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good one, too.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: But Dominion was definitely a rotation this year, mixed it in with all the power metal and stuff like that.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: Jack any TV shows or movies that you've been getting into this year.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: The new episodes of Stranger Things.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: I've definitely.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: to go a little bit more nerdy.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: I have watched the American Revolution by Ken Burns.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's how was solid.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's a solid piece to be quite honest.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: He gets really into it.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: I can honestly say like he does not, he does not put any, he takes like the very historical part of it.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like he is very much like looking at everything when he's looking through the lens of like the American
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that show I watched that documentary I watched gosh.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: I've been watching a lot of documentaries on bands Oh, so I watched the the so I watched the beetles anthology And I know like everybody like hates the beetles, but to me it's not so much about the metal.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like it's just me
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: To me, even some of my pastors were beefing about it this more or less Lord's Day service where they're like, uh, because one of my pastors was like the greatest band is rock band is YouTube and then they're both Canadians.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like it doesn't even matter.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then not a good band.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then the other one is like, uh, did you forget the Beatles?
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, oh,
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Accordingly, here's what I would say people, accordingly, technically by the numbers, the most profitable band and popular band in the 20th century was the group, the Eagles, by the numbers, by the Eagles is a good band.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: So, anyway, I'll rock with that.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: I will, I will throw my own personal opinion and say Led Zeppelin because another fan.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, a legendary band.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like you got to get the lead out, but yeah, so I've been watching the Beatles anthology thing on a Disney Plus and then I watched rewatched the history of the Eagles documentary where it goes through the band and everything.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's just really those are really enjoyable.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like to see
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: That was interesting, too, because their manager, the Eagles manager, talked about how it was so cool to see the creative process happening right in front of them, like to them to throw out a guitar lick and to them to build a song around it, or some lyric, or something like that.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: Those kind of things are always interesting.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think the beat like to
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: to kind of answer Josh's really big beef about why the beetles are so popular.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: So from that documentary, this is what I got out of it.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like the beetles were like the first rock band out of like rock and roll band out of the UK.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: That did a that did a that did Americans that did America, they were basically riffing on American songs.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well yeah, they got unconsolving and and
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: And they did numbers.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like I've never argued that they didn't do numbers.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: I've always argued that the only reason that there is big and popular as they were is because they were the first to do it.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just talented or they are music is objectively good.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's my argument.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: And it seems like they didn't even think that they were necessarily like they didn't even think of themselves as that good either.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like from like the from the interviews like we just want to be a small little
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: you know, banned out there, but everybody blew us up.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: And well, yeah, then that changed drastically when Len started comparing himself to Jesus.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there was even there's they they went through like half an episode talking about that and what he really meant by that stuff along those lines.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: So that was interesting to see.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's um, so yeah, it's it's pretty interesting.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: I love documentaries.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: So like I feel like this year I really wanted to watch the American Revolution at documentary and it did not let me down.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: Paul Jumati who played John Adams
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, on HBO, he plays John Adams, he voices the voice of John Adams and that's documentary Josh Brolin plays George Washington fantastic voice over work right there and there's it just goes on and on.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: with different voices that different actors play for different characters, but yeah, I think that's a really good, at least that It shows like how Revolutionary America's like the United States was at the time and how it impacted so many other places in the world of what we were doing and so
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, interesting stuff, but yeah, that's kind of a interesting stuff.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: I've I've really liked and enjoyed stuff musically.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: I've been So one of my favorite bands, King's Colitis Go, put out kind of like their their kind of hymns hymns more hymns focused records.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, ASS arrows part two.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: So they did an ASS arrow one.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: Now they did an ASS arrow part two
