- 0:53Have faith, let it begin. And it starts right now. Hello, everyone,
- 0:58and welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 1:00We are cutting the introduction a little short today.
- 1:02I know that doesn't make Nick too happy because he loves the spot with me and Noah singing.
- 1:08That's okay. We'll put it on for next week. With that being said,
- 1:12Nick, always good to see you, my friend.
- 1:14I had some Nick withdrawals since we didn't work today together.
- 1:18Yeah, well, we see enough of each other, so we'll make up for it next week. That's it.
- 1:23So, you know, listen, without further ado, everybody in Half Faith Let It Begin knows who you are.
- 1:28And when you come on to this show, you really know how to pack a punch.
- 1:32So today's episode is called, written by you, it's called Human Appreciation Day.
- 1:37Ladies and gentlemen, I turn the reins over to your host for today, Nick.
- 1:42Okay, Angel, thank you very much. And I appreciate the time with your audience.
- 1:47It's always an honor to be able to be on here.
- 1:50What sparked this desire to come on and speak about this was,
- 1:54I guess, about three weeks ago, I had the pleasure of a little vacation time
- 1:59with my family, and I was away from the job for two weeks.
- 2:02And we were away for nine days.
- 2:05We were in a hotel. It was right off the beach.
- 2:08It was very nice. But you get to see for those nine days, there are so many
- 2:14people who are trying to make your vacation the best that it can be.
- 2:21And they go unrecognized. It's like a thankless job that they have.
- 2:27Those who are at the front desk of the hotel, those who take care of your room,
- 2:35the housekeeping staff.
- 2:37For the most part, you're going out for meals, breakfast, and dinner, and the wait staff.
- 2:49Everybody in the place is just trying to make your
- 2:52time the best that it can be and they go they really go unnoticed so i thought
- 2:58about you know we're really one human race here we're there's only one race
- 3:03as far as i'm concerned and that's the human race it's it's blind as to color
- 3:09of your skin, your religion,
- 3:13your sex, your culture, it doesn't matter.
- 3:17We're all in one race, and that's the only race I know.
- 3:22And, you know, we're going through this journey of life jointly.
- 3:28Everyone, we're all here together. And, you know, it would be nice if we treated
- 3:34each other as such and, you know, give each other a pat on the back where it's due.
- 3:41And so that's where I came up with this.
- 3:44And so I'd like to start out kind of going through a few groups that I'd like
- 3:48to thank. And it'll start out by, you know, the usual groups that we do thank.
- 3:55And that's, you know, we start with our military, current military and veterans
- 4:01who have, you know, did their job to keep us safe and free.
- 4:08And that includes their families, their families as well, because they're serving as well.
- 4:14And those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for us, we thank them and we
- 4:20thank their families for that.
- 4:24Law enforcement, all kinds of law enforcement who keep us safe every day,
- 4:29as well as their families who pay a price. and for all of those who have fallen in the line of duty.
- 4:37We thank them. We thank their families.
- 4:40Emergency medical personnel who are out,
- 4:44who are out all hours of the night. And if we have a medical emergency,
- 4:47they're there to try to get us to safety and get us to where we need to be so we can get better again.
- 4:55So those are the groups that we kind of usually always thank and rightfully so.
- 5:03But then there's the ones who, I guess I'll put it under a title of a customer
- 5:08service type person who's dealing with the public, you know,
- 5:13on various issues. You have your retail workers.
- 5:16You have, you know, as I said, the people who work in hotels and restaurants
- 5:22and things of that nature.
- 5:24We have those who answer the telephone when you call a place.
- 5:31So front desk personnel at hotels, it wouldn't hurt to say thank you to them.
- 5:38And I know that, I would hope that people would, if you feel that you can,
- 5:46you would monetarily thank them as well, but it would be very important that
- 5:52if you thank them face-to-face for what they do.
- 5:55I mean, we had a terrific lady who was taking care of our room.
- 6:01I mean, she was there every day, same time like clockwork.
- 6:06And I actually saw her boss in the elevator and I told her about her.
- 6:12And I thanked her right to her face. I said, you're doing a terrific job.
- 6:17And I think she really appreciated that.
- 6:20She appreciated that more than the financial benefit. She really did.
- 6:23People at the front desk, waiters and waitresses, that's a hard job.
- 6:29It's a hard job serving food and being on your feet all those hours.
- 6:34And they should be taken care of appropriately as well. And a thank you would go a long way.
- 6:41And then you have kind of, you know, those like Angel, like you and I,
- 6:46and there are plenty of people who have switchboard operator positions around,
- 6:51and, you know, if people would be,
- 6:54just would have some respect and patience and consideration when they speak
- 7:02on the phone to someone who you don't even know,
- 7:05who has never met you before and who has never spoken to you before and who
- 7:12is not the cause of why you're so angry.
- 7:16For the most part, I would say, you know, we want to help you as much as we possibly can.
- 7:23And from their standpoint, all you have to do is just have some respect for
- 7:29them And they will do anything to try to help you and get your issue resolved.
- 7:34But you can't come on like gangbusters on the telephone right off the bat.
- 7:38Like, it's just not appropriate.
- 7:41It's just not appropriate.
- 7:43And on the other hand, you know, you have us sitting on the other side of the phone.
- 7:49You know, we should also have the consideration that we don't know what that
- 7:55person's been through or what brought them to this point.
- 7:59So we should have as much respect and patience and consideration of them that
- 8:06we're asking for of them.
- 8:09So that's basically what I really wanted to say today.
- 8:14You know, as I said, we're going through this life together.
- 8:18We're all going to be judged one day on our resume here.
- 8:23And you know it would go a long way if we were
- 8:26and this world would be a better a better place if we were
- 8:29just a lot kinder with one another you you
- 8:32have spoken about angel about but things that have
- 8:35that have gone on you know you've you've spoken about the road rage and things
- 8:40of that nature that you run into and you have some episodes based on that i
- 8:44mean that that goes into this that all goes into this have some kindness patience
- 8:49and consideration with one another and the world would be a better place for it.
- 8:55Absolutely. Absolutely. And I agree.
- 8:58So, I mean, that's what I, that's what I wanted to talk to everyone about.
- 9:02And I'll be curious to hear of any feedback that you get.
- 9:07I think, I think the feedback that for myself off the bat is first and foremost,
- 9:12thank you for bringing that up because you know what, it's such an easy topic.
- 9:16And what I mean by that is not to diminish your episode by any means.
- 9:20It's, it's an easy topic because all it takes is a little bit of kindness.
- 9:24It takes that opportunity that like you did, it just took you a few minutes.
- 9:28To show your gratitude by recognizing an individual, by just giving them a quick,
- 9:34good job, a pat on the back, verbiage, telling the boss.
- 9:38We're so quick to give negative feedback because of instant gratification that
- 9:45we fail to remember the hard work that people put into to make your moments
- 9:51become amazing memories.
- 9:53And I think that Human Appreciation Day is something that we need to strive to remind people.
- 10:00And I hope that we can continue to remind them as the seasons change and as
- 10:06the closer we get to the holidays.
- 10:08I think we need to bring this episode back again as a series return,
- 10:13especially during the holiday season. So I'd like to see you come back with
- 10:17more of Human Appreciation Day.
- 10:20Maybe we'll call it, you know, seasons within the seasons and kind of talk about
- 10:25the Black Fridays and the holiday shopping and, you know, just having that understanding
- 10:30with each other. What do you think?
- 10:32That's a great idea. I'll be glad to do it. Excellent. So, you know,
- 10:36we like to, you know, talk about our spirituality here, obviously,
- 10:40at Half Faith Let It Begin.
- 10:41And one of the greatest things about being appreciative is also learning about.
- 10:48Christ did for his disciples. He appreciated them.
- 10:52Yes, at times they didn't understand what he was saying and they asked a lot
- 10:56of questions and they doubted, just like we do at times, but he never gave up on them.
- 11:02And he always inspired to teach them so that they can go out and spread the
- 11:07message when he left this earth. And one day he'll return.
- 11:12And we're just hoping and praying that one episode at a time,
- 11:16one title at a time, one thought at a time, you, the Half Faith Let It Begin
- 11:21family, will continue to inspire to be better people one random act of kindness at a time.
- 11:26So on behalf of all of us here, may God be with you. May he shine his light
- 11:30upon you and grant each and every single one of you peace on earth.
- 11:34We'll see Nick back next Tuesday and never forget, Half Faith Let It Begin. See you soon, guys.
