- 1:08Speaker 5: The live transmission has begun, and we're into the final
- 1:12Speaker 5: hour of hell.
- 1:32Speaker 6: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown's Attack of the
- 1:34Speaker 6: Killers soundtrack. I'm Brian.
- 1:36Speaker 9: I'm Marlena.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'm Matthew.
- 1:39Speaker 6: We are coming to you live via digital recording from,
- 1:41Speaker 6: what's the name of this place? Have you named this
- 1:45Speaker 6: special area we're in right now?
- 1:46Speaker 1: The wilderness.
- 1:48Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 6: The scary place between the creek and the jungle.
- 1:53Speaker 1: And not so upside down.
- 1:55Speaker 6: We have seen many wild animals since we were loitering
- 1:58Speaker 6: in this area back here.
- 2:00Speaker 9: We really have.
- 2:02Speaker 6: That feral cat might be part of it. And part
- 2:04Speaker 6: of a squirrel. So, as usual, the constantly expanding and
- 2:09Speaker 6: ever-rotating Meltdown gang. So it's been a while for both
- 2:14Speaker 6: of you. And with many members of the cast, not me,
- 2:19Speaker 6: because I don't go anywhere. But you keep traveling the world.
- 2:23Speaker 6: I think since last time you were here, you've been
- 2:24Speaker 6: on another fabulous vacation. So where have you been in
- 2:29Speaker 6: the world since last we spoke to you?
- 2:33Speaker 9: Jessica, I don't know. Has she ever been on the show?
- 2:36Speaker 6: She was in the vicinity of us recording at least once.
- 2:39Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Probably more than once. She's a hanger on. She's kind
- 2:43Speaker 6: of a groupie.
- 2:45Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 9: What a podcast groupie. I don't think she's ever listened
- 2:51Speaker 9: to a podcast in her life.
- 2:52Speaker 6: She doesn't know how to work that phone.
- 2:56Speaker 9: We went to Poland and we went to Czech Republic,
- 3:01Speaker 9: which is called Czechia now, apparently. Didn't know that. That's
- 3:06Speaker 9: news to me.
- 3:07Speaker 6: A lot of those weird things aren't called what they
- 3:09Speaker 6: used to be called.
- 3:11Speaker 9: I still struggle to not call it Czechoslovakia.
- 3:13Speaker 6: We're Czechia now. Also, somebody else just brought that up
- 3:19Speaker 6: and it's like, yeah, it hasn't been that way since
- 3:21Speaker 6: like the mid 80s or something.
- 3:24Speaker 9: No, it was like the early 90s.
- 3:25Speaker 6: Well, either way. It's been a long time since then.
- 3:29Speaker 6: It's like I keep trying to go to Stalingrad, but
- 3:32Speaker 6: turns out the damnedest thing.
- 3:35Speaker 9: I keep trying to visit the Berlin Wall.
- 3:38Speaker 6: They just want to sell me little pieces of it
- 3:40Speaker 6: on eBay. So what led you to Poland?
- 3:45Speaker 9: Jessica's Polish.
- 3:47Speaker 6: No wonder she's a podcast person.
- 3:50Speaker 13: What?
- 3:51Speaker 9: Is that a thing?
- 3:55Speaker 6: It is now. Let's get that going.
- 3:56Speaker 9: I don't know that you want to get an offensive
- 3:58Speaker 9: Polish rumor started.
- 4:01Speaker 1: How big is this show in Poland?
- 4:04Speaker 6: We might have some if you're out there listening in Poland.
- 4:09Speaker 6: Has anyone not heard any? Again, I'm doing it ridiculously
- 4:14Speaker 6: at this point because it's People making those jokes, like
- 4:19Speaker 6: it used to be a thing and people like seriously
- 4:21Speaker 6: did it.
- 4:21Speaker 9: Like Polack jokes?
- 4:22Speaker 6: Yeah, Polack jokes. And I'm just like, again, now I
- 4:25Speaker 6: almost do it because I think it was so ridiculous
- 4:29Speaker 6: that I want to make a snide comment about it
- 4:30Speaker 6: because I think the world we used to live in
- 4:33Speaker 6: is so ridiculous compared to, not that it's better now,
- 4:36Speaker 6: but it's different. It's different. So at least now you can,
- 4:40Speaker 6: you know, be a Polish person and be proud of it.
- 4:43Speaker 6: And only occasionally.
- 4:45Speaker 9: You know, it's weird. Like, I don't understand, A, why
- 4:50Speaker 9: there are ever Polish jokes in the first place. And
- 4:52Speaker 9: I'm pretty sure Polak is like an offensive term. So,
- 4:55Speaker 9: you know, like I was saying that as a reference point,
- 4:57Speaker 9: I would never call a Polish person a Polak.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Well, again.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Even less Polish.
- 5:02Speaker 6: Well, again, that wouldn't have even registered to people even
- 5:07Speaker 6: 10 years ago. Like, I think it's a pretty hard
- 5:11Speaker 6: turn on a lot of that stuff. That I'm like,
- 5:13Speaker 6: I think you wouldn't have even thought twice about just
- 5:17Speaker 6: referring to somebody as a Polack. That's just... So yeah,
- 5:21Speaker 6: we're learning things as a society, as humans. Hopefully. Not
- 5:26Speaker 6: all of us, but some.
- 5:28Speaker 9: And then other people are just like, man, I can't even...
- 5:31Speaker 9: People who complain about how offended everyone gets are the biggest...
- 5:36Speaker 9: Those are the actual crybabies of the situation. Because it's
- 5:39Speaker 9: just like, someone's just like, hey, my human rights are
- 5:43Speaker 9: being violated. I don't like it. And they're just like,
- 5:46Speaker 9: you're such a baby. Like, why don't you think my
- 5:48Speaker 9: joke is funny? Oh, I can't stand this PC culture.
- 5:52Speaker 9: Like what?
- 5:54Speaker 6: Meanwhile, those people can't screw in a light.
- 5:59Speaker 9: Bulb.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Anyway.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:04Speaker 6: So that aside, what led you to these wonderful exotic locations?
- 6:09Speaker 6: And then what'd you do while you were there?
- 6:13Speaker 9: We drank a lot.
- 6:18Speaker 14: Oh.
- 6:18Speaker 9: Like, we danced in the hotel.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Room a lot.
- 6:21Speaker 6: This just sounds like a normal weekend for you.
- 6:25Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 9: Yeah, kind of. But we walked around.
- 6:27Speaker 6: Minus the hotel room.
- 6:28Speaker 9: Like, there's some really cool places in Poland. Like, honestly, like,
- 6:32Speaker 9: I've been to Eastern Europe so much. Like, I'm kind
- 6:34Speaker 9: of like, it's all the same to me at this point.
- 6:37Speaker 6: It's still like, I mean, I still love it.
- 6:39Speaker 9: No, I mean, I still love it, but, you know,
- 6:42Speaker 9: it's just, like, I don't understand, like, if you have
- 6:45Speaker 9: the opportunity to travel, like, wanting to go back to
- 6:47Speaker 9: the same place over and over and over. You know,
- 6:50Speaker 9: this was my.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Like those families that go to Disney World, like, three
- 6:53Speaker 6: times a year.
- 6:54Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 6: And talk about it all the time.
- 6:56Speaker 9: Yeah, like, this is my third time going to Prague.
- 7:00Speaker 9: I mean, my second time was, like, within the same trip, but,
- 7:03Speaker 9: you know, I'd been somewhere else for a month and
- 7:05Speaker 9: then had come back, so it kind of felt like
- 7:07Speaker 9: a whole new trip to Prague. but I don't know
- 7:15Speaker 9: she's always wanted to go because she's Polish and I
- 7:19Speaker 9: really wanted to see Auschwitz like we ended up not
- 7:24Speaker 9: being able to see it it was closed for a
- 7:26Speaker 9: special there was like a march or something it was
- 7:30Speaker 9: like some special event it was closed for that's weird
- 7:33Speaker 9: yeah well.
- 7:33Speaker 6: I mean like first one's here first ones here.
- 7:39Speaker 9: Yeah when uh when we planned the trip you know
- 7:43Speaker 9: like we didn't necessarily like look into those things because
- 7:46Speaker 9: the website says open every day except for that it
- 7:48Speaker 9: was just like a special thing that kind of was
- 7:51Speaker 9: unforeseen we could have figured it out had we like
- 7:54Speaker 9: investigated further but we ended up not making it there
- 7:57Speaker 9: and that really sucked but we went to the salt
- 7:59Speaker 9: mines instead um and the salt mines were actually really
- 8:04Speaker 9: cool we had an excellent tour guide and.
- 8:06Speaker 6: Uh Are they still currently operating as salt mines?
- 8:10Speaker 9: I think so, yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Is that where our salt comes from?
- 8:15Speaker 15: No.
- 8:16Speaker 9: But mainly it's like a tourist place. Like thousands and thousands,
- 8:21Speaker 9: like a ridiculous amount of tourists a year visit the
- 8:24Speaker 9: salt mine. Like, it's crazy. There's this really beautiful chapel
- 8:28Speaker 9: that the salt miners carved at some point. And it's
- 8:31Speaker 9: like the crystals in the chandelier are made of salt.
- 8:34Speaker 9: It's really awesome.
- 8:37Speaker 6: It was like Stop licking the chandelier.
- 8:39Speaker 9: I've been to a salt mine before, and it was
- 8:42Speaker 9: really boring and stupid. It was like the Louisville Mega
- 8:45Speaker 9: Cavern of Romania, basically.
- 8:47Speaker 6: Wait, there were zip lines?
- 8:49Speaker 9: Yes, there were zip lines.
- 8:51Speaker 6: Nice. Yes, there were.
- 8:53Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 8:54Speaker 9: And that was pretty much it, and it was awful.
- 8:55Speaker 9: And I was like, oh, I don't know if I
- 8:57Speaker 9: want to do this. But we looked at pictures, and
- 8:58Speaker 9: it looked really amazing. So we went, it was super cool.
- 9:00Speaker 9: I'm glad we did that. We just walked around the town.
- 9:04Speaker 12: There's this.
- 9:06Speaker 9: Place called cloth hall it's basically like a bunch of
- 9:08Speaker 9: touristy little booths now it's like a touristy flea market
- 9:11Speaker 9: but it's a really cool historical structure um there's a
- 9:16Speaker 9: lot of stuff that you know we tried to do
- 9:18Speaker 9: but it ended up being closed for no reason like
- 9:22Speaker 9: there is this by our hotel there was this really
- 9:24Speaker 9: cool museum um it was like a like a kind
- 9:29Speaker 9: of like the mooder museum in philadelphia so anatomical specimens
- 9:35Speaker 9: from a long time ago uh and it's just like
- 9:37Speaker 9: a college museum and that was closed and when it
- 9:41Speaker 9: said it would be open and so it was like
- 9:43Speaker 9: really frustrating but.
- 9:45Speaker 6: Isn't this kind of how it goes in other countries
- 9:47Speaker 6: anyway they're not overly obsessed with working themselves to death
- 9:51Speaker 6: like we have a weird like not that we have
- 9:54Speaker 6: much of a work ethic here but we're very like
- 9:57Speaker 6: you know driven and nine to five and gotta, you know,
- 10:00Speaker 6: get this done. And, like, I feel like specifically Europe
- 10:03Speaker 6: is kind of like, eh, I think I'll take a
- 10:05Speaker 6: month off next month and go hit another vacation this year.
- 10:09Speaker 9: I mean, I feel like Italy's like that a lot,
- 10:13Speaker 9: but not other parts of Europe so much.
- 10:17Speaker 6: Sounds like a pretty good deal. They should get in
- 10:18Speaker 6: on it.
- 10:20Speaker 9: But I don't know. I can't even remember all the
- 10:23Speaker 9: things we did, honestly. It all kind of like runs together.
- 10:26Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 10:27Speaker 9: We just like basically you can just get lost like
- 10:30Speaker 9: exploring a town because it's so different than the towns
- 10:35Speaker 9: that you see here. Like everything is, you know, like
- 10:37Speaker 9: an old building is like, oh, look at this building.
- 10:40Speaker 9: It was built in 1928. But their buildings, it's like
- 10:43Speaker 9: this building was built in 1328. So we did visit
- 10:49Speaker 9: the Vauval Castle, which was really cool. We couldn't go inside. Again,
- 10:53Speaker 9: couldn't go inside the castle because it closed at like 2.30 p.m.
- 10:59Speaker 9: But we went into the tombs. And that was like
- 11:02Speaker 9: really creepy. I've been into a lot of creepy places,
- 11:04Speaker 9: you know, like I've been into places that literally have
- 11:07Speaker 9: like bones, human bones for walls. There's something really eerie
- 11:11Speaker 9: and spooky about this tomb. It was, like, a royal
- 11:13Speaker 9: tomb of, like, Polish royalty. And I don't know. I
- 11:19Speaker 9: can't explain what was so, like, creepy about it. It
- 11:21Speaker 9: just was, like, a weird feeling that we both got
- 11:24Speaker 9: when we were in there. And then, you know, like, after, like,
- 11:28Speaker 9: the day after we went to Volvo Castle, we went to,
- 11:31Speaker 9: we got on our Polsky bus. Highly recommend Polsky bus. So,
- 11:36Speaker 9: it's a seven-hour drive. From Krakow to Prague. And we
- 11:43Speaker 9: were able to get round-trip tickets for two people. And
- 11:45Speaker 9: it ended up being, like, 24 U.S.
- 11:47Speaker 6: Dollars.
- 11:48Speaker 9: And the bus was, like, really nice. It was a
- 11:50Speaker 9: new bus. There was, like, four seats with a table.
- 11:55Speaker 9: And we managed to get that all to ourselves both times. So, like,
- 11:59Speaker 9: we could stretch our legs and, like, put all our
- 12:00Speaker 9: shit on the table. And it was awesome.
- 12:02Speaker 6: Don't have to make awkward conversation the whole time.
- 12:04Speaker 9: No.
- 12:05Speaker 1: No.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Well, except for Jessica.
- 12:07Speaker 9: Yeah, no, we didn't. Some people tried to, like... Like,
- 12:10Speaker 9: I fell asleep and I was snoring, which is a
- 12:13Speaker 9: perfectly normal human response. And these, like, Czech people that
- 12:18Speaker 9: were beside us tried to, like, laugh and make fun
- 12:20Speaker 9: of me. And then they literally fell asleep right after
- 12:22Speaker 9: that and snored, like, a thousand times louder than me.
- 12:25Speaker 9: And I'm just like, you're so fucking dumb.
- 12:27Speaker 6: So, yeah. This is how wars get started.
- 12:31Speaker 9: Yeah. But, I mean, I don't really care what... people's
- 12:35Speaker 9: negative opinions are like dumb opinions like that it's like
- 12:39Speaker 9: oh my god like you performed a perfectly normal thing
- 12:43Speaker 9: that everybody does how dare you whatever and it was
- 12:47Speaker 9: like four o'clock in the morning it wasn't like it'd
- 12:49Speaker 9: be one thing if i was like middle of the
- 12:51Speaker 9: day and i'm like snoring loudly on a train but
- 12:53Speaker 9: like this is a night bus they turn off the
- 12:55Speaker 9: lights people bring blankets and pillows like the goal is
- 12:58Speaker 9: to sleep the goal is to sleep like the way
- 13:01Speaker 9: there so yeah but um Yeah, we went to a
- 13:11Speaker 9: show in Prague, which was really cool. Chelsea Wolfe, she's
- 13:14Speaker 9: like this really melodic, kind of gothy type singer lady.
- 13:22Speaker 9: She has an amazing voice. We're both really big fans
- 13:26Speaker 9: of her, and we just happened to be there while
- 13:27Speaker 9: she was there, and we really wanted to go. So
- 13:29Speaker 9: we did, and that was awesome. We visited... Kutnahara which
- 13:33Speaker 9: is about an hour away from Prague and get there
- 13:36Speaker 9: by train and that's the bone church it's like hundreds
- 13:41Speaker 9: of human bones make like make up the chandeliers and
- 13:44Speaker 9: there's like just a big stack of skulls and one
- 13:47Speaker 9: of it's really cool um yeah there was like a
- 13:51Speaker 9: few things that we wanted to do but logistically were
- 13:54Speaker 9: just really hard to fit in like a because of
- 13:56Speaker 9: time constraints and be transportation wise like There's another like. Ossuary.
- 14:04Speaker 9: Which is like a bone church. In Poland. And it
- 14:07Speaker 9: was like a few. I want to say it was
- 14:09Speaker 9: a few hours away from where we were. We were
- 14:11Speaker 9: like going to take a train there. But then apparently
- 14:14Speaker 9: it was like. It was a place that's so remote.
- 14:18Speaker 9: That trains don't really run there all the time. So
- 14:20Speaker 9: you know. You don't really want to risk like getting stuck.
- 14:23Speaker 9: In a town where there's not really like hotels. Same
- 14:25Speaker 9: with this painted village. Also one of the things. Like
- 14:29Speaker 9: we thought it would be warm. Because that's what all
- 14:32Speaker 9: the weather things said. It said it would be around
- 14:34Speaker 9: 60 degrees. So we were just like, light jacket. That's fun.
- 14:37Speaker 9: Now we get there, it's like 30 degrees and pouring
- 14:39Speaker 9: down rain every single day. Like every single day. So
- 14:44Speaker 9: we didn't go to the Painted Village because you'd have
- 14:46Speaker 9: to take a train, a bus, a connecting bus, and
- 14:53Speaker 9: then walk for 30 minutes. And then all the houses
- 14:56Speaker 9: were like not near each other. It was like a
- 14:59Speaker 9: countryside kind of village where Everything's probably a good 20
- 15:03Speaker 9: minutes away from each house.
- 15:05Speaker 6: Doesn't this country have Lyft? I mean, I assume they
- 15:08Speaker 6: don't want Uber. But come on, Lyft at least.
- 15:12Speaker 9: Actually, I think Uber is the one that's global.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Well, I know, but I assume they don't want Uber
- 15:18Speaker 6: warming around Poland.
- 15:19Speaker 9: But I mean, do you want to get into a
- 15:22Speaker 9: stranger's car in the middle of nowhere?
- 15:25Speaker 6: I mean, I think that here in America.
- 15:27Speaker 9: Yeah, that's true.
- 15:28Speaker 6: That was something that was brought up recently. They were like,
- 15:31Speaker 6: even going back just, you know, 20 years, the rules
- 15:36Speaker 6: they gave you as a kid was don't talk to
- 15:38Speaker 6: strangers on the internet, don't get in strangers' cars. Now
- 15:41Speaker 6: what do we do?
- 15:41Speaker 9: Yeah, that's literally all the things that we do.
- 15:43Speaker 6: You get on the internet, you meet some random stranger,
- 15:46Speaker 6: you immediately jump in their car.
- 15:48Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 6: It's a very strange world we live in now.
- 15:50Speaker 9: It really is.
- 15:51Speaker 6: So have you been anywhere exciting?
- 15:55Speaker 1: Not recently, no.
- 15:57Speaker 6: Good, I'm not the only one not going there. so
- 16:00Speaker 6: have you been listening to any fabulous soundtracks along the
- 16:04Speaker 6: way as you were traveling the world um no no
- 16:09Speaker 6: because i kind of have mostly directly connected to the
- 16:13Speaker 6: movies it had been a while since we've done a
- 16:15Speaker 6: soundtrack episode and so i was thinking like this happened
- 16:19Speaker 6: like in the last six months or so like i
- 16:21Speaker 6: would watch a movie and like during the movie i'm
- 16:24Speaker 6: like oh I actually kind of like the songs here.
- 16:28Speaker 6: And then like it would happen more than once. I'm like,
- 16:30Speaker 6: all right, we're going to have to work that into it.
- 16:32Speaker 6: So it's like at least twice in the last six
- 16:35Speaker 6: months or so I've had that. So I've knocked out
- 16:37Speaker 6: at least the first half just based on those movies alone.
- 16:41Speaker 6: So I thought it was a good excuse to kind
- 16:43Speaker 6: of pick some semi-recent stuff. Probably stuff I saw at home. Because,
- 16:49Speaker 6: you know, other than recently, the theaters is not near
- 16:53Speaker 6: as much. I was going back through a list of stuff.
- 16:55Speaker 6: I was trying to remember if there was anything I
- 16:56Speaker 6: had missed. And I'm going through the list. I'm like,
- 16:58Speaker 6: there's so much stuff that comes out that you just
- 17:00Speaker 6: can't keep up. Like, I'm looking at them going, I
- 17:02Speaker 6: haven't seen a lot of these. Like, there's always so
- 17:05Speaker 6: much stuff to watch. So, trying to get caught up
- 17:08Speaker 6: watching some at home. And occasionally going, hey, I really
- 17:11Speaker 6: like this soundtrack. Yeah. So, we should kick it off
- 17:15Speaker 6: with one that I'm surprised how much I liked. Did
- 17:19Speaker 6: you see Nerve?
- 17:21Speaker 9: No, I haven't seen Nerve yet.
- 17:23Speaker 6: It's... pretty impressive like i again i didn't expect much out.
- 17:27Speaker 9: Of it is that the one with chloe moretz no
- 17:31Speaker 9: which one am i thinking.
- 17:31Speaker 6: That one's coming up later yeah no this one is
- 17:36Speaker 6: um emma roberts.
- 17:40Speaker 9: No yeah this is the one i'm thinking of yeah
- 17:42Speaker 9: it was emma roberts and uh that other.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Is he a Franco?
- 17:48Speaker 2: Franco.
- 17:48Speaker 6: I was going to say, is he a Franco? The
- 17:49Speaker 6: other Franco boy. Dave Franco? I don't think I remembered
- 17:52Speaker 6: that there was another Franco.
- 17:54Speaker 9: Is there three Francos?
- 17:56Speaker 1: Are there three?
- 17:57Speaker 9: No, it's probably just the other Franco.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I just know James and Dave.
- 18:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 17: Johnny.
- 18:03Speaker 6: Johnny Franco.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Johnny Franco.
- 18:04Speaker 6: Jimmy Franco. Bubba Franco. There's one they don't bring out
- 18:09Speaker 6: from under the shed. You stay down there, Bubba.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Frank Franco, the father.
- 18:15Speaker 6: James is a weird dude. I could see all these
- 18:16Speaker 6: things going on.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:18Speaker 6: But this is not James. This is the brother. And
- 18:21Speaker 6: he's not bad in this. But Emma is always entertaining. Yeah,
- 18:24Speaker 6: I like her a lot. And this is one of
- 18:27Speaker 6: those times, because lately in the last, as we've even
- 18:30Speaker 6: mentioned on the show regularly, how much she plays just
- 18:34Speaker 6: a crackhead. She's really good at just dialing crazy up
- 18:39Speaker 6: to 11, which you don't necessarily, she seems like, she
- 18:43Speaker 6: would be typecast as like the normal girl. So it's
- 18:46Speaker 6: weird that she is kind of like, she starts off
- 18:49Speaker 6: in this movie as the very like normal, boring girl
- 18:52Speaker 6: that like gets roped into this crazy, again, not like
- 18:57Speaker 6: maybe one shade away from reality as to what's going
- 19:00Speaker 6: on with this game. It's basically playing on the world
- 19:03Speaker 6: that we pretty much live in now that we all
- 19:04Speaker 6: walk around with computers on us and cameras on us.
- 19:08Speaker 6: And we're like, basically what if you turn that all
- 19:10Speaker 6: into like a global game that is just constantly, and again,
- 19:14Speaker 6: everything's sort of set up to be monetarily situated on
- 19:20Speaker 6: the internet now. So if you just tied all of
- 19:22Speaker 6: these things together, it's not really a weird futuristic scenario
- 19:26Speaker 6: it's something that seems very at home in our society
- 19:30Speaker 6: now so i'm.
- 19:31Speaker 9: Sure after this movie it'll exist in some.
- 19:33Speaker 6: I'm sure some bad version of it already does but
- 19:36Speaker 6: it's pretty efficient in this in this you know movie
- 19:38Speaker 6: world but yeah the movie's pretty damned entertaining regardless but
- 19:43Speaker 6: yeah midway in several times i'm like wait wait wait
- 19:46Speaker 6: what is the song that's playing so it was one
- 19:48Speaker 6: of those i'm like this may be one of those
- 19:50Speaker 6: soundtracks I need on when I'm done with this movie.
- 19:53Speaker 6: So I thought with these first couple of movies, there
- 19:56Speaker 6: were so many that I was like, that's pretty damned entertaining.
- 19:59Speaker 6: We'll just throw out several. We'll just do a whole
- 20:02Speaker 6: soundtrack hat trick here. So first off, this is Kamikaze
- 20:07Speaker 6: from Moe.
- 20:10Speaker 14: Let it all go.
- 20:12Speaker 7: Come on, man, I already know.
- 20:15Speaker 14: We gotta go pick up a riot. If we wanna
- 20:19Speaker 14: fly free. If we wanna fly free. Borges and dolls.
- 20:22Speaker 14: I wanna be facing them all. Light up my fire.
- 20:25Speaker 14: I'm never getting too deep.
- 20:28Speaker 7: Take me to the party.
- 20:36Speaker 14: I am never gonna get enough.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Hey!
- 21:07Speaker 15: Hey!
- 21:10Speaker 10: Tell me, girl, do you see you want someone to
- 21:13Speaker 10: be wasting your time?
- 21:16Speaker 14: Well, I'm your Portland crime boy. You should fly away
- 21:21Speaker 14: with me.
- 21:22Speaker 10: Saturday night was never really meant to do right.
- 21:28Speaker 14: Take me to the party. Got me, got me coffee.
- 21:53Speaker 10: I am never going to get enough. We go one, two, three,
- 22:12Speaker 10: till the end of the world. We go one, two, three,
- 22:15Speaker 10: till the end of the world. We go on till
- 22:18Speaker 10: we die, till we die. I'm never gonna run. We
- 22:23Speaker 10: go one, two, three, till the end of the world.
- 22:26Speaker 10: We go one, two, three, till the end of the world.
- 22:29Speaker 10: We go on till we die, till we die. And
- 22:36Speaker 10: I'm never gonna get it, I'm never gonna get it.
- 22:40Speaker 14: Take me to the party. Kamikami Kashi. Blame it on
- 22:46Speaker 14: the bus.
- 22:46Speaker 10: I am never gonna get enough. Take me to the party.
- 22:52Speaker 10: Kamikami Kashi.
- 22:54Speaker 14: Give me a good push.
- 22:55Speaker 7: I ain't never.
- 22:57Speaker 14: Gonna, never gonna get enough. Tell me, girl, do.
- 23:01Speaker 7: You love me?
- 23:07Speaker 14: Tell me, girl.
- 23:25Speaker 6: And then some of them I was like, I'm listening
- 23:27Speaker 6: to them now and I'm like, have I heard it
- 23:30Speaker 6: more like they got picked up and they're playing it
- 23:33Speaker 6: on the radio? Or am I just remembering it from,
- 23:37Speaker 6: is it a weird little loop in my brain that
- 23:39Speaker 6: I'm remembering it from the movie and like I'm already
- 23:41Speaker 6: like placing it into the rotation.
- 23:44Speaker 1: On the radio now?
- 23:45Speaker 6: I'm not sure. But this, yeah, Electric Love feels like
- 23:49Speaker 6: one I've heard a decent amount recently. think it's also
- 23:53Speaker 6: on several other soundtracks once you get popular and you
- 23:55Speaker 6: got to cash in on that so i think the
- 23:58Speaker 6: uh the borns did just that because this is electric love.
- 24:22Speaker 18: She's sweet like candy in my veins.
- 24:28Speaker 16: Baby, I'm dying for another taste And every night my
- 24:38Speaker 16: mind is running around her.
- 24:42Speaker 14: Thunder's getting louder.
- 24:43Speaker 8: And louder Baby, you're like lightning in a bottle of
- 24:56Speaker 8: To be struck by your electric love Baby, your electric
- 25:14Speaker 8: love Electric love Drowning me You make my heart.
- 25:22Speaker 14: Beat like the rain.
- 25:29Speaker 18: Hold me deep beneath your weight. And every night my
- 25:36Speaker 18: mind is running around her. Thunder's getting louder and louder
- 25:42Speaker 18: and louder.
- 25:44Speaker 8: Baby, you're like lightning in a bottle. By your electric
- 25:59Speaker 8: love Baby, your electric love.
- 26:11Speaker 14: Electric love.
- 26:57Speaker 18: You're like lightning in a bottle.
- 27:00Speaker 8: I can't let you go now that I got it.
- 27:05Speaker 14: And all I need is to be struck.
- 27:09Speaker 8: By your electric love.
- 27:11Speaker 7: Baby, your electric love.
- 27:27Speaker 3: And there's a storm you're starting.
- 27:32Speaker 19: Now And there's a storm you're starting now And there's
- 27:54Speaker 19: a storm you're starting, starting, starting, starting, starting, starting.
- 28:02Speaker 15: I belong to rush.
- 28:04Speaker 14: I'm a one night stand.
- 28:06Speaker 13: I don't belong to no city.
- 28:08Speaker 15: Don't belong. Then I'm bad. I'm never.
- 29:09Speaker 13: I went down to a place in Brooklyn Where you
- 29:13Speaker 13: tripped on LSD And I found myself reminded To keep
- 29:20Speaker 13: you far away from me And there's a storm you're
- 29:25Speaker 13: starting now And there's a storm you're starting now And
- 29:31Speaker 13: there's a storm you're starting Starting, starting, starting, starting now.
- 29:40Speaker 15: Wanderer.
- 29:40Speaker 14: I'm a one-night stand. No one known to no city.
- 29:45Speaker 7: Don't belong to no man. I'm the violence in the
- 29:51Speaker 7: pouring rain.
- 30:27Speaker 15: Thank you.
- 31:08Speaker 6: Alright, and that was maybe my favorite one right there.
- 31:11Speaker 6: That was Hurricane, the Arty Remix, and that is by Halsey.
- 31:15Speaker 6: And it's very noticeable how awesome it is within the
- 31:19Speaker 6: movie itself, so it's definitely one of my favorite ones.
- 31:23Speaker 14: Everything you just said is my favorite.
- 31:26Speaker 15: Thing to do.
- 31:27Speaker 6: So, next up on the movie rotation, have you seen
- 31:32Speaker 6: The Edge of Seventeen? I won't go too into the
- 31:37Speaker 6: movie itself, because on a recent episode, after I watched it,
- 31:40Speaker 6: I brought up how much I... Once again, I go
- 31:44Speaker 6: into these kid movies, and I'm just like, eh, they
- 31:46Speaker 6: make a lot of these. They're probably not going to
- 31:47Speaker 6: be that good.
- 31:48Speaker 9: Is that the one with Woody Harrelson?
- 31:50Speaker 6: Yeah, he is in it, and Hayley Steinfeld, and she's
- 31:53Speaker 6: really good in it. Again, everything I see her in,
- 31:57Speaker 6: she's really good in, so it's pretty damn entertaining. surprisingly
- 32:01Speaker 6: she's not on the soundtrack i don't think considering she's
- 32:04Speaker 6: also like a massive pop star but didn't cross over
- 32:07Speaker 6: there so there are several other ones that i was
- 32:10Speaker 6: again as we kick it off uh it's a really
- 32:13Speaker 6: cool little way to intro the movie and i was
- 32:16Speaker 6: like all right once again i might need this soundtrack
- 32:18Speaker 6: this is who i thought you were from santa gloria.
- 32:36Speaker 14: Hey now, take a.
- 32:37Speaker 10: Look at you Hosed down in a million dollar suit But.
- 32:42Speaker 14: I knew you when I wasn't you I knew you.
- 32:46Speaker 10: When you had a clue Big man driving a big
- 32:50Speaker 10: car Funny how you can spin so.
- 32:54Speaker 14: Fast so far I knew you when you were the
- 32:57Speaker 14: star I knew when no one thought you were.
- 33:02Speaker 7: You cannot be who I thought you were.
- 33:06Speaker 14: Who I thought you were. No, you can't.
- 33:10Speaker 15: Be who I thought you were.
- 33:13Speaker 7: Who I thought you were. I like you more when
- 33:16Speaker 7: you pull up. You know I need.
- 33:18Speaker 14: You to pull up.
- 33:19Speaker 15: Come back here.
- 33:20Speaker 7: You ain't gonna like me, oh yeah.
- 33:24Speaker 14: Are you ever gonna be who I thought you were?
- 33:44Speaker 14: We'll be right back. We'll be right back.
- 34:12Speaker 10: No, you can't be who I thought you.
- 34:16Speaker 14: Were. Who I thought you were. I like you more
- 34:20Speaker 14: when you're poor.
- 34:20Speaker 15: You do when you're poor.
- 34:23Speaker 7: Come and get you when you like me, oh yeah.
- 34:28Speaker 14: Are you ever gonna.
- 34:30Speaker 15: Be who I thought you were?
- 34:37Speaker 8: Now you got a lot of fun.
- 34:39Speaker 15: Tell you frankly, I'm a fool. I know you know.
- 34:41Speaker 14: Better where you're going on that ladder. Got all the
- 34:44Speaker 14: girls running there with you. All of your life, either
- 34:47Speaker 14: thirsty or.
- 34:48Speaker 15: You are too.
- 34:49Speaker 14: Your enemies will tell you it's all fine. I'll tell
- 34:54Speaker 14: you better.
- 34:55Speaker 7: What you're walking up in line.
- 34:57Speaker 15: I'll ask if I used to know you.
- 34:59Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 34:59Speaker 10: It's just like I never seen your face before.
- 35:03Speaker 14: Oh, really? You cannot be who I thought you were.
- 35:19Speaker 15: Who I thought you were.
- 35:21Speaker 7: No, you can't.
- 35:23Speaker 10: Be who I thought you were.
- 35:26Speaker 14: Who I thought you were.
- 35:28Speaker 7: I like you more when you're poor. You don't like
- 35:33Speaker 7: me at all. What about you, Orion?
- 35:57Speaker 11: Cause I'm leaving on a jet.
- 36:01Speaker 14: Plane Don't know when I'll be back.
- 36:05Speaker 20: Again Leaving on a jet plane I don't know when
- 36:12Speaker 20: I'll be back.
- 36:13Speaker 12: Again Leaving on a jet plane I don't know.
- 36:18Speaker 14: When I'll be back again.
- 36:21Speaker 15: She said Hello, mister.
- 36:24Speaker 10: Pleased to meet.
- 36:28Speaker 12: You.
- 36:31Speaker 10: I want to hold her. I want to kiss her.
- 36:39Speaker 10: She smelled of daisies. She smelled of daisies. She drive
- 36:49Speaker 10: me crazy, she drive me crazy.
- 36:57Speaker 14: Gonna take her for a ride on my PJ fun
- 37:06Speaker 14: Gonna take her for.
- 37:07Speaker 15: A ride on my PJ fun.
- 37:19Speaker 10: Hey, my lover, my lady river Can I take you,
- 37:34Speaker 10: take you higher Gonna take you for a ride on

- 39:28Speaker 10: big jet plane.
- 39:20Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 15: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 6: Another one I feel like I've heard. I feel like
- 40:03Speaker 6: it's getting airplane now, but once again, maybe I'm just
- 40:06Speaker 6: convincing myself of that. That was Big Jet Plane by
- 40:10Speaker 6: Angus and Julia Stone.
- 40:18Speaker 14: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much.
- 40:19Speaker 6: We've got to do this thing right now.
- 40:22Speaker 14: Yeah, holding one little spot. Are you ready?
- 40:27Speaker 6: This is John Spencer, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 40:31Speaker 11: You've got to use what you've got to get what
- 40:34Speaker 11: you've got to.
- 40:35Speaker 14: Let the hammer cry.
- 41:18Speaker 15: Thank you. Thank you.
- 41:56Speaker 7: Ooh, ooh, baby, feel the rain.
- 42:30Speaker 14: Let them all so that I could hold you. Wrote
- 42:33Speaker 14: a couple words so that I could say I love
- 42:36Speaker 14: you more and more every single day.
- 42:39Speaker 7: I wrote ahead of us, it's gonna turn and shake
- 42:42Speaker 7: what I said.
- 42:43Speaker 14: Come closer to the next big mistake. But as long
- 42:46Speaker 14: as I'm with you, we're gonna be okay.
- 42:49Speaker 20: All I need is you, everything else can wait.
- 42:52Speaker 14: Everything I want.
- 42:58Speaker 7: Everything's gonna be, everything's gonna be, everything's gonna be, everything's
- 43:16Speaker 7: gonna be.
- 43:35Speaker 14: Everything is alright.
- 43:39Speaker 7: Everything's gonna be okay.
- 43:42Speaker 15: Everything is alright.
- 43:43Speaker 14: Everything's gonna be okay. Everything is alright. Oh, Captain, my Captain.
- 44:16Speaker 6: And another very entertaining song. That was Everything by Captain.
- 44:21Speaker 6: And it's crazy because it's spelled with a K.
- 44:23Speaker 9: Captain with a K?
- 44:25Speaker 6: A-P-T-A-N. That ain't how you spell Captain.
- 44:29Speaker 9: Captain.
- 44:29Speaker 6: Alright, we can move on to some more ridiculous movies. Since,
- 44:36Speaker 6: you know, these crazy high school kid movies. We'll move
- 44:39Speaker 6: on to Oh, no, wait. Other crazy high school kid movies.
- 44:42Speaker 6: Have you seen Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse?
- 44:44Speaker 9: Yes, we have seen that one. Yay, we got one.
- 44:47Speaker 6: Most of that is just really bad rap. If you
- 44:50Speaker 6: get into it.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Most of rap is just really bad rap.
- 44:53Speaker 6: Well, that's arguable, I suppose.
- 44:56Speaker 9: He's like a huge fan of rap.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Like hip hop.
- 44:58Speaker 6: Sorry. A lot of, I'm going with mostly more recent stuff.
- 45:03Speaker 6: You know, when I think of like good rap, I
- 45:05Speaker 6: feel like I'm always going way back. And I'm like, oh,
- 45:08Speaker 6: this is awesome. Oh, wait, that was 25 years ago. Well,
- 45:12Speaker 6: all right, then never mind. So maybe I'm just biased
- 45:15Speaker 6: as to current rap.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 45:16Speaker 6: But this is not that at all. This would be
- 45:21Speaker 6: Young and Heart by Tim Myers and the Rondo Brothers.
- 45:23Speaker 15: All right.
- 45:34Speaker 8: I'm gonna carry it up, gonna be the one to
- 45:37Speaker 8: save the day.
- 45:38Speaker 7: I said, oh my, my, my, my, my, my, I gotta.
- 45:44Speaker 15: Seize the day.
- 45:45Speaker 14: I'm gonna light it up, you know I gotta make
- 45:49Speaker 14: a way.
- 45:49Speaker 15: I said, oh my, my, my, my, my.
- 45:51Speaker 21: My, my, I gotta feel some pain.
- 45:57Speaker 20: Shake it, shake it, come on You gotta take it,
- 46:00Speaker 20: take it, come on I gotta live it up, live a.
- 46:04Speaker 14: Little, come on Wow! .
- 46:46Speaker 8: .
- 46:49Speaker 14: .
- 46:55Speaker 8: .
- 46:58Speaker 14: Shake it, shake it,
- 47:03Speaker 14: come on You gotta take.
- 47:04Speaker 15: It, take it, come on I gotta live it.
- 47:07Speaker 14: Up, live a little, come on Wow!
- 47:09Speaker 7: Young and hard, we gotta celebrate it Young and hard,
- 47:17Speaker 7: I know that we can make it We are the
- 47:22Speaker 7: greatest of all.
- 47:23Speaker 15: Time I can't hurt.
- 48:52Speaker 6: Can you get better than the Rondo brothers? Everybody's name
- 48:56Speaker 6: needs to be Rondo, much like Rondo happens.
- 48:58Speaker 9: I don't know who that is.
- 49:01Speaker 6: He's an actor. He might also be your grandfather or something.
- 49:06Speaker 6: He's an old-timey actor, but you don't have to worry
- 49:09Speaker 6: so much about the butt chin because he's got just mutated.
- 49:12Speaker 6: He was one of those last really weird looking actors
- 49:17Speaker 6: because he had like a bone disease basically and the
- 49:20Speaker 6: studios were like that's cool let's make you a freak
- 49:23Speaker 6: and like they just latched on like he's the creeper
- 49:26Speaker 6: literally in like a movie called the creeper like the
- 49:30Speaker 6: studios just latched on to him it was just like
- 49:32Speaker 6: you're gonna be a weird dude in every movie for
- 49:35Speaker 6: the rest of your life and he was well Rest
- 49:39Speaker 6: in peace, Rondo Hatton.
- 49:40Speaker 9: That kind of sucks, but also, like, what else are
- 49:43Speaker 9: you going to do for work?
- 49:44Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, you cash in if that's what they
- 49:46Speaker 6: throw at you.
- 49:47Speaker 9: Kind of like, I feel really bad for, like, the
- 49:51Speaker 9: exploitation of P.T. Barnum's employees, like, basically throughout the entire circus, like, thing.
- 49:59Speaker 9: But at the same time, it's just like, where else
- 50:02Speaker 9: would someone with, like, I don't know, like a rare defect...
- 50:08Speaker 9: get a job like this is a the time when.
- 50:11Speaker 6: If you were talking back in the day not like
- 50:13Speaker 6: right up until two weeks ago.
- 50:15Speaker 9: Now we've got tlc for that oh yeah but like what.
- 50:19Speaker 6: This is why i don't watch these cable shows.
- 50:21Speaker 9: What would you do if you were like like say
- 50:24Speaker 9: the elephant man like what would you do for work
- 50:26Speaker 9: like they they made a ton of money you know
- 50:29Speaker 9: like they were very wealthy people You know, compared to
- 50:32Speaker 9: today's standards.
- 50:33Speaker 6: I mean, that's my thing. I have a weird affection
- 50:35Speaker 6: for those people.
- 50:36Speaker 15: I do too.
- 50:37Speaker 6: And always have. And I don't, again, like, I think
- 50:40Speaker 6: most people would see the accumulation. I can't buy much
- 50:43Speaker 6: of it because that stuff is super expensive. Yeah. But
- 50:45Speaker 6: what little I've picked up over the years of like
- 50:47Speaker 6: old school, like sideshow memorabilia, like again, I feel like
- 50:51Speaker 6: when I had it all displayed before I was homeless,
- 50:54Speaker 6: people would probably walk in and think it was very exploitative.
- 50:57Speaker 6: And some of the people featured, but I'm like, I
- 51:02Speaker 6: found some of it, not just fascinating, but also so endearing.
- 51:05Speaker 6: Like there's a picture that I have that is an
- 51:08Speaker 6: actual photo that, that was taken. And this girl is
- 51:12Speaker 6: like missing all of her limbs. And she's, it's a
- 51:14Speaker 6: photo of her with her mother. And it's the most,
- 51:17Speaker 6: like her mom is so proud of her.
- 51:20Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 51:21Speaker 6: Like it's such a great little photo. And it's like,
- 51:24Speaker 6: this is a little literal snapshot into time and space.
- 51:27Speaker 6: And like, this family and this world that they had
- 51:30Speaker 6: to live in. And like, it's, I don't know. I,
- 51:32Speaker 6: I've always been like way more interested in like the
- 51:35Speaker 6: human side of it.
- 51:36Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 51:36Speaker 6: And tying back to your original point, uh, my, my
- 51:39Speaker 6: favorite is Johnny Eck. Johnny Eck was rich. Like compared
- 51:43Speaker 6: to the little yokels that used to come around and
- 51:45Speaker 6: like laugh at him. I'm like, yeah, you guys went
- 51:49Speaker 6: home to your dirt shack. Like he had a freaking
- 51:52Speaker 6: mansion because he knew how to use the system. Like
- 51:55Speaker 6: that was, that was what he could do. And, And
- 51:58Speaker 6: he also had a good sense of humor. The photos
- 52:01Speaker 6: of him after the car wreck.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:03Speaker 6: It looks like he's just half a man. Oh, wait,
- 52:08Speaker 6: he is half a man.
- 52:09Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 9: But, I don't know. I just think it's really interesting
- 52:11Speaker 9: that now we still do the same thing as a society.
- 52:15Speaker 9: We still, like, ogle at these people.
- 52:17Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 9: But we do it in the name of compassion and learning.
- 52:24Speaker 6: I don't buy any of that.
- 52:26Speaker 9: Little people, big world, and stuff like that.
- 52:29Speaker 6: I don't trust anybody running those kind of shows.
- 52:31Speaker 9: I mean, they're profiting from it. So it's not like
- 52:36Speaker 9: they're getting a raw deal, probably. What else would you
- 52:39Speaker 9: be doing?
- 52:41Speaker 6: What's really funny is.
- 52:42Speaker 9: But it's really exploitative in nature.
- 52:45Speaker 6: Well, and again, it's not that this is the first
- 52:48Speaker 6: time this was brought up. I've heard it a lot
- 52:49Speaker 6: over the years, but how... Like, when you look at
- 52:52Speaker 6: so many of the old-timey banners, how much of it
- 52:55Speaker 6: is regular now? When it was like, the tattooed man!
- 52:58Speaker 6: I'm like, shit, everybody that comes in the coffee shop
- 53:00Speaker 6: has more than that guy on the banner.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Right, I know.
- 53:02Speaker 9: Or like, the fattest woman.
- 53:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I know.
- 53:06Speaker 9: She's 300 pounds!
- 53:07Speaker 6: I'm like, ooh, she doesn't even have a hover around.
- 53:09Speaker 6: What are you talking about?
- 53:10Speaker 9: That's literally like a third of the population at any
- 53:13Speaker 9: Walmart at any time.
- 53:14Speaker 6: That's everybody that gets cut out of their trail or
- 53:17Speaker 6: any given day of the week.
- 53:19Speaker 9: No, not even that. Like, no, the fat woman by
- 53:23Speaker 9: today's standards is, like.
- 53:24Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, it was, like, 300 pounds.
- 53:25Speaker 9: Like, literally... As.
- 53:25Speaker 6: Opposed to the, like, five and six that are out there, like,
- 53:28Speaker 6: in droves.
- 53:29Speaker 9: There's probably, like, three people on my street that are
- 53:33Speaker 9: at least fatter than that, you know? Like, did you
- 53:36Speaker 9: ever go to the River Falls Mall upstairs?
- 53:39Speaker 6: Like, when it was River Falls Mall? Yeah.
- 53:42Speaker 9: So, there used to be this game called Big Bertha
- 53:44Speaker 9: that I loved to play. and now like back.
- 53:46Speaker 6: In the old PC days yeah like.
- 53:48Speaker 9: I was I was literally telling Matt about that the
- 53:50Speaker 9: other day and I was like do you remember that
- 53:52Speaker 9: and it's just like so incredibly offensive like there would
- 53:56Speaker 9: be like once.
- 53:57Speaker 6: Again in such a short amount of time like this
- 54:00Speaker 6: is not just our lifetimes our adult lifetimes like in
- 54:04Speaker 6: 10 20 years so much stuff has changed and like
- 54:08Speaker 6: good but at the same time like it's just disturbing
- 54:12Speaker 6: how short a span it.
- 54:14Speaker 9: Is yeah I know it is crazy Like, so, it
- 54:16Speaker 9: was just, like, this fat lady, and you throw balls
- 54:18Speaker 9: into her mouth, and she yells things like.
- 54:20Speaker 14: I'm still hungry!
- 54:22Speaker 9: Only 300 pounds! I need more food! I'm wasting away here! Like,
- 54:29Speaker 9: I would love to find, like, a video clip of
- 54:31Speaker 9: one of those games, and just, like, watch it. I'm
- 54:34Speaker 9: sure it's out there. Like, a recording or something.
- 54:36Speaker 6: That's the wonders of YouTube. I'm sure it's out there.
- 54:38Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm sure.
- 54:39Speaker 6: But, yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 9: Like, I literally cannot imagine a place in America where
- 54:43Speaker 9: that game would still exist. Like.
- 54:45Speaker 6: I can imagine it. Actually, it might be in the
- 54:49Speaker 6: lobby at Walmart right now. You should go check and see.
- 54:52Speaker 6: Next to a little horse jumping up and down.
- 54:54Speaker 2: You'll shudder in panic when you behold lust-inspired human combat,
- 55:00Speaker 2: all the more appalling in crimson-stained color. You'll recoil in
- 55:07Speaker 2: horror as something barbaric occurs behind the tents and tensile
- 55:11Speaker 2: of a monster midway on the alley of nightmares. You'll
- 55:17Speaker 2: gasp in astonishment when you witness nature's human mistakes. You'll
- 55:22Speaker 2: see it all and more when you see She-Freak and
- 55:27Speaker 2: tell no one what you see.
- 55:30Speaker 6: So speaking of Walmart people, have you seen Bad Moms?
- 55:36Speaker 6: This is one of those I don't like most of them.
- 55:42Speaker 6: those kind of like modern comedies like once again maybe
- 55:46Speaker 6: just because I'm 100 now I don't know but like
- 55:48Speaker 6: when I think of comedies I like they're always like
- 55:51Speaker 6: old they're always like the 70s maybe the 80s like
- 55:57Speaker 6: occasionally we'll spill like all of the new modern era
- 56:01Speaker 6: comedies I usually just don't respond to so a lot
- 56:04Speaker 6: of them I don't even seek them out but I
- 56:09Speaker 6: like what the hell is her name Mila Kunis? Mila,
- 56:13Speaker 6: there we go.
- 56:14Speaker 9: Yeah, every movie you say, I'm like, oh, is that
- 56:16Speaker 9: the one with, that's literally the only way, no, not
- 56:20Speaker 9: just Mila Kunis, but in general, that's the only way
- 56:23Speaker 9: I know how to gauge a movie. And I'm at
- 56:25Speaker 9: the point of just.
- 56:27Speaker 6: Completely forgetting everyone's name at this point. So yeah, I
- 56:30Speaker 6: like Mila in general, but I love Kristen Bell so much.
- 56:34Speaker 6: So the fact that that was going on, I was like,
- 56:36Speaker 6: all right, I'm going to have to see it anyway.
- 56:38Speaker 6: once again surprised how much i mean it doesn't stray
- 56:43Speaker 6: any further than it knows it needs to but at
- 56:46Speaker 6: the same time it's genuinely pretty funny like there's stuff
- 56:49Speaker 6: in it that i i thought was pretty well done
- 56:52Speaker 6: comedically which is not usually the case for a lot
- 56:55Speaker 6: of these modern gross out comedies as most of them
- 56:57Speaker 6: are so yeah i'm surprised it was as good as
- 57:01Speaker 6: it was.
- 57:01Speaker 9: We're actually super stoked to see the new movie coming
- 57:05Speaker 9: out Rough Night with Ilana Glazier and Scarlett Johansson and
- 57:12Speaker 9: who else is it that you love so much?
- 57:17Speaker 1: Oh, Kay McKinnon.
- 57:18Speaker 6: Yeah, I was going to say.
- 57:19Speaker 9: If only Aubrey Plaza could be in that movie, Matt
- 57:22Speaker 9: would be in heaven. He literally loves those women so much.
- 57:27Speaker 9: I mean... And if one of them could be dressed
- 57:29Speaker 9: as Wonder Woman, he would die.
- 57:31Speaker 1: I mean, we could throw Rosario Dawson in there, too.
- 57:33Speaker 9: And Rosario Dawson.
- 57:33Speaker 6: I can't, no, you can't argue that.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Rosario.
- 57:36Speaker 9: Maybe they'll have cameos, and they'll be wearing Wonder Woman costumes,
- 57:39Speaker 9: and you can literally just drift into death and just
- 57:43Speaker 9: be happy.
- 57:44Speaker 1: You'd like that, wouldn't you?
- 57:46Speaker 9: I would not, no! I do not want you to die. God.
- 57:51Speaker 9: But I mean, like, how's life going to get any
- 57:54Speaker 9: better than that moment?
- 57:55Speaker 6: You just need to hang out at the TV Marvel
- 57:58Speaker 6: Universe I guess because Rosario does not stray far from
- 58:00Speaker 6: those shows they found a person to use and she's
- 58:04Speaker 6: like alright somebody needs to cross over on all these
- 58:06Speaker 6: shows what is she in those shows every one of
- 58:08Speaker 6: them she plays a nurse that is central to like
- 58:12Speaker 6: all of their storylines she's the crossover character on all
- 58:15Speaker 6: of these which becomes more and more important as it
- 58:18Speaker 6: gets further in on these so.
- 58:21Speaker 9: Like in all the movies or the TV shows.
- 58:23Speaker 6: The Netflix TV shows yeah But yeah, you can't go
- 58:28Speaker 6: wrong with Rosario.
- 58:29Speaker 9: Is she in the show that has.
- 58:30Speaker 12: I'm.
- 58:32Speaker 9: Going to do it again. The show that has Vanessa
- 58:34Speaker 9: Carlton and.
- 58:35Speaker 1: No, that was DC. That was.
- 58:39Speaker 9: Who's the girl that plays the green one? No, she
- 58:42Speaker 9: just kind of looks like Rosario Dawson.
- 58:45Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 58:46Speaker 6: A little bit.
- 58:47Speaker 1: She was the one who was Tom's girlfriend on Parks
- 58:49Speaker 1: and Rec.
- 58:50Speaker 9: Yeah, you're right. But she kind of resembles Rosario Dawson,
- 58:53Speaker 9: like a little bit, though, right?
- 58:54Speaker 1: A little bit, yeah.
- 58:56Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 9: They wanted Rosario Dawson, but they couldn't get it because.
- 59:00Speaker 6: She was busy. Everybody wants Rosario Dawson.
- 59:03Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 59:05Speaker 6: Including Junior Junior.
- 59:06Speaker 9: Who's Junior Junior?
- 59:07Speaker 6: That's who's doing this song. This is Gone from the
- 59:10Speaker 6: Bad Moms soundtrack by Junior Junior. Junior Junior.
- 59:28Speaker 20: I've made up my mind Over and over.
- 59:36Speaker 14: Keep pressing rewind But I'm.
- 59:39Speaker 20: Getting older Tried every door Don't know who.
- 59:47Speaker 14: I'm looking for.
- 59:50Speaker 20: And I've made up my mind Over and over.
- 59:57Speaker 7: I can't be everything you want me to be. I
- 1:00:06Speaker 7: can't be everything you want me to be. Finally, I
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: can see the light through the.
- 1:00:18Speaker 14: Leaves, but it's all gone.
- 1:00:35Speaker 20: What comes from the ground Now is returning It's all
- 1:00:43Speaker 20: the same sound And my ears are burning In some
- 1:00:50Speaker 20: strange home Don't know who I'm working for I've made
- 1:00:55Speaker 20: up my mind Over and.
- 1:00:57Speaker 14: Over I can't be.
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: I can see the light through the leaves, but it's
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: all gone. I can't be everything you want me to
- 1:01:53Speaker 7: be I can't be everything you want me to be
- 1:02:02Speaker 7: finally I can see the light through the leaves.
- 1:02:10Speaker 14: But it's all.
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: You think he's gone?
- 1:02:33Speaker 14: He's not gone! That's the whole point! He's never gone!
- 1:02:36Speaker 14: Is this some radical new therapy? You see!
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Woke up this morning Feeling low Where my loved one
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: used to live She ain't there no more Poor.
- 1:02:48Speaker 12: Me Why such bad luck fall on me?
- 1:02:57Speaker 15: Poor me.
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: I'm living in.
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: Hey, Jacqueline.
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: Hi. Guess what?
- 1:03:10Speaker 15: What?
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: We're broke.
- 1:03:12Speaker 10: Yeah, we definitely, I'm pulling up, turning my pockets out
- 1:03:15Speaker 10: right now.
- 1:03:16Speaker 14: Nothing.

- 1:03:42Speaker 6: like I do.
- 1:03:42Speaker 13: Yeah, you need our commentary to figure out what to
- 1:03:46Speaker 13: watch on Netflix.
- 1:03:47Speaker 6: I think so. It's like a companion piece to all
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: your Amazons and Netflixes and all of these things. So
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: just think how much you don't make use of your

- 1:04:12Speaker 6: You won't even notice it.
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: And you'll look at your bank statement and be like,
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: two dollars.
- 1:04:15Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:17Speaker 6: I'm supporting an artist that I like. That's all I

- 1:05:40Speaker 6: yeah sure grace i guess we did we still have
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: to throw the grace in Did she change it? Did
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: she drop one?
- 1:05:46Speaker 9: I don't know, because I thought it was like, at
- 1:05:47Speaker 9: first she was just Chloe Moretz, and then she was
- 1:05:49Speaker 9: Chloe Grace Moretz, but I don't really know.
- 1:05:52Speaker 6: She dropped the Grace.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: The girl got crazy.
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: Anyway, you wouldn't expect a movie about more or less
- 1:06:01Speaker 6: an apocalypse brought about by aliens to have a pop
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: song in it, but they worked quite a few in
- 1:06:08Speaker 6: on the Fifth Wave soundtrack. This is everyone's favorite. See ya.
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: With the lies. You can't hate on Sia, I mean.
- 1:06:20Speaker 10: I was born in a thunderstorm.
- 1:06:25Speaker 23: I grew up overnight.
- 1:06:30Speaker 14: I played alone, I played on my own. I survived.
- 1:06:38Speaker 23: Hey, I wanted everything.
- 1:06:41Speaker 9: I never had.
- 1:06:44Speaker 23: Like the love that comes with life I wore envy.
- 1:06:51Speaker 9: And I hated.
- 1:06:52Speaker 23: That But I survived I had a woman that took
- 1:06:59Speaker 23: her to a place where all the demons go Where
- 1:07:03Speaker 23: the wind don't change and nothing on the ground can
- 1:07:05Speaker 23: ever grow No hope, just lies and you're taught to
- 1:07:09Speaker 23: cry And you're a fellow, but I'll survive.
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: I'm still breathing, I'm still breathing I'm still breathing, I'm
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: still breathing.
- 1:07:47Speaker 23: I found solace in the strangest place Way in the
- 1:07:52Speaker 23: back of my mind I saw my life in a
- 1:07:58Speaker 23: stranger's face And it was mine I had a wound,
- 1:08:06Speaker 23: it took a tooth, that's where all the demons go
- 1:08:10Speaker 23: Where the wound don't change and nothing on the ground
- 1:08:12Speaker 23: can ever grow No hope just lies and you're taught
- 1:08:16Speaker 23: to cry in your pillow.
- 1:08:19Speaker 14: I'll survive. I'm still breathing. I'm still breathing. I'm still breathing.
- 1:08:31Speaker 14: I'm still breathing. You took.
- 1:08:54Speaker 24: It all but I'm still breathing I'm still breathing.
- 1:09:10Speaker 14: You took it all, but I'm still breathing.
- 1:09:12Speaker 23: I never made every single mistake that you could ever
- 1:09:16Speaker 23: possibly make.
- 1:09:17Speaker 24: I took and I took and I took what you gave,
- 1:09:19Speaker 24: but you never noticed that I was in pain.
- 1:09:22Speaker 14: I knew what I wanted. I went out and got it.
- 1:09:24Speaker 14: Did all the things that you said that I wouldn't.
- 1:09:27Speaker 14: I told you that I would never be forgotten. I
- 1:09:29Speaker 14: know that's part of you. I'm still breathing. I'm still breathing.
- 1:09:41Speaker 14: I'm still breathing. I'm still breathing. I'm alive.
- 1:09:50Speaker 15: I'm alive.
- 1:09:54Speaker 14: I'm alive.
- 1:09:59Speaker 15: I'm alive.
- 1:10:24Speaker 14: Not malfunction, Stephanie. Number five is alive.
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: Okay, so this one is very recent. I watched it today.
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: Have you seen Split?
- 1:10:38Speaker 16: Yes.
- 1:10:39Speaker 9: Yeah, we did see Split. Yay, we got another one.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: It's been through like seven.
- 1:10:43Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: But what was your take on it?
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: I really liked it.
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: And again, talk about going in with your guard up.
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: I mean, you really have to kind of go in
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: concerned with M. Night these days. Or the last, again,
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: 20 years.
- 1:10:59Speaker 9: I did not like that Devil movie.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: I thought that was dumb.
- 1:11:02Speaker 6: Again, these last several, I still haven't watched. I don't
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: really want to touch the crazy anime wannabe. That was
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: an odd move for him anyway. Which one are you
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: talking about?
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Oh, The Last Airbender?
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: Yeah, the fact that he jumped on a really popular
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: TV series that people already loved and they were like,
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: let's change everything about it and piss people off and
- 1:11:26Speaker 6: bring in M. Night Shyamalan.
- 1:11:28Speaker 9: And wasn't the main character a white person?
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: Well, I mean, it's fine. It's by Hollywood, so that's
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: always what happens. Don't worry, they made the bad guy
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: from India.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: It's okay if you make, other races can be the villains.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: Obviously. As long as you make the white, shiny, white
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: hero white. Yeah. It's okay. Studio Green lights that bitch.
- 1:11:52Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: Anyway, I think from what I've heard, that's the least
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: of the problems of what's going on in that movie.
- 1:11:58Speaker 6: I heard it.
- 1:11:59Speaker 9: Was like a big statement pile of garbage and everybody
- 1:12:01Speaker 9: hated it.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: So, yeah.
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: It just looked like a whole lot of CG action,
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: which sometimes you can pull off, but it doesn't sound
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: like that happens.
- 1:12:09Speaker 16: So.
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: This, on the other hand, is a very different movie. Split,
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: I was really, like, I'd heard nothing but good things,
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: so I was just like, all right, let's, I was
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: kind of excited to check it out, and it delivered. Like,
- 1:12:22Speaker 6: it really, like, that's an amazing performance from our lead characters,
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: I guess. He is, what, 28 or something like that,
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: so he is a ridiculous rundown of characters, and all
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: of them are pretty, like, nothing is, turned up too
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: much you know it's like everything even when he is
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: the woman like he's not overdoing it which would be
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: so easy for any actor to do and like he's
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: just got such a good sense of what he's trying
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: to do with these roles that like it's really well
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: done I think I.
- 1:12:55Speaker 9: Don't know how to pronounce his last name and I
- 1:12:56Speaker 9: literally say it different every time I say it McAvoy
- 1:13:00Speaker 9: but I love him I love James McAvoy he's awesome
- 1:13:02Speaker 9: I've loved him since I think the very first thing
- 1:13:04Speaker 9: I saw him in was Penelope like a billion years
- 1:13:07Speaker 9: ago And then the British Shameless.
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: Oh, I forgot about that.
- 1:13:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:13:13Speaker 6: I haven't delved into that one because I like the
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: Americans so much.
- 1:13:17Speaker 9: Yeah. The first few, I want to say like the
- 1:13:21Speaker 9: first season is like shot for shot basically, but I
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: think that it branches off because they started, at least
- 1:13:27Speaker 9: with the American one, they started writing things based on
- 1:13:31Speaker 9: the characters, like their real actual lives and how the
- 1:13:35Speaker 9: audience responded like, Like they made V pregnant because she
- 1:13:39Speaker 9: was pregnant in real life. They made, um, uh, what's the,
- 1:13:44Speaker 9: what's the Russian?
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Svetlana.
- 1:13:47Speaker 9: They made Svetlana stay because she was like so well
- 1:13:49Speaker 9: received by the audience. She was literally going to be
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: like one episode and gone, but they're like wrote her in.
- 1:13:54Speaker 9: So I imagine I've not watched all the British Hamlets.
- 1:13:57Speaker 9: I've watched all the American one, but I imagine it's
- 1:13:59Speaker 9: like quite a bit different at this point.
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: He is pretty awesome.
- 1:14:03Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: And that the, The blonde girl of the three is
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: actually the one that I was just talking about in
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: Edge of Seventeen. So, like, when you heard me weeks
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: ago going on about how good she is in that,
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: she doesn't have near as much to do in this. Again,
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: because she's, like, third girl in. So, I mean, our weird.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: So.
- 1:14:23Speaker 9: She's in Edge of Seventeen?
- 1:14:25Speaker 6: She's the friend of her. She's the one that starts
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: all the trouble, according to our main character.
- 1:14:31Speaker 9: The girl from The Witch?
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: That's the, no, that's the thing. This was the blonde girl,
- 1:14:36Speaker 6: the first one that gets separated. But no, that's the thing.
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: I sat there the whole time with the dark haired
- 1:14:41Speaker 6: girl going, what the hell is she from? Like, she
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: is so weird familiar with her crazy eyes. And I
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: was like, oh, the bitch I forgot about. I didn't
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: recognize her with the dark hair. She's really good. And still,
- 1:14:55Speaker 6: those eyes are weird looking. And I don't mean that
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: in a negative way.
- 1:14:58Speaker 9: Which one are you talking about?
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: The bitch girl.
- 1:15:00Speaker 9: Oh, the bitch. And it, Anya Taylor-Joy.
- 1:15:04Speaker 6: Yeah. Like she's like super pretty and yet odd looking
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: all at the same time. Like it's a very strange
- 1:15:11Speaker 6: thing she's got going on there.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:15:14Speaker 9: Her eyes are very far spaced apart. But it's like
- 1:15:17Speaker 9: it's just.
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: They're weird looking. They're kind of unnerving. The whole movie
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: I was just like it kind of fits because again
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: it's such a weird like everybody's sort of on edge
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: the whole movie. So it kind of helps that even
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: in our main character you never really feel secure. You're
- 1:15:31Speaker 6: just like What's going on with her? What the hell's
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: going on with him? Like it's a nice little, I
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: don't know. Everything feels uneasy and that's kind of what
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: you need out of split. Plus a little cameo at
- 1:15:43Speaker 6: the end that we won't ruin for anybody. But I'd
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: heard that was going to cross over. I didn't know
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: it was going to be that direct.
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: I didn't get that that was the twist. Because I
- 1:15:53Speaker 9: was like, what's the twist going to be?
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: Is that the twist? I mean, I guess.
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: I think. I don't know.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: That's more like a reveal.
- 1:15:59Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean, it's a bigger plan. Basically, they're making
- 1:16:02Speaker 6: their own little Marvel universe.
- 1:16:05Speaker 9: I'm looking up Anya Taylor-Joy's IMDB page.
- 1:16:11Speaker 6: It just says supermodel.
- 1:16:14Speaker 16: Yes.
- 1:16:15Speaker 9: No, but apparently she was in a movie called Thoroughbred
- 1:16:18Speaker 9: with Olivia Cooke and Anton Yelchin. So, like... Rest in peace, Anton.
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, right?
- 1:16:25Speaker 9: I love that man.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: He's awesome.
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: But, like, going on the cast alone, like, I would
- 1:16:31Speaker 9: like to see that. That sounds amazing. I don't know
- 1:16:33Speaker 9: if you are familiar with Olivia Cooke, but she is
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: the girl from Mean Earl and the Dying Girl. She's
- 1:16:39Speaker 9: also the friend in Bates and Rochelle. She's always sick
- 1:16:45Speaker 9: in everything she plays. She's always dying.
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: That's her thing.
- 1:16:48Speaker 9: She's like an oxygen tank in everything.
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: I'm really good at dying.
- 1:16:51Speaker 9: I don't know. I don't know why.
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: Hire me now.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: But, again, I was thinking, I was like, there's not
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: a ton of music in that one other than his
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: big dancing when he's the kid. Because I believe, I
- 1:17:06Speaker 6: might be paraphrasing, I think Kanye is his man. But
- 1:17:10Speaker 6: not to play that one because we don't need to
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: give Kanye any more action. the band Lucius has a song,
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: Wilda Woman, I believe is how they pronounce it. It's
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: not actually how it reads, but if you listen, I
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: believe they bust it out as Wilda Woman. Not what
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: you would expect out of what's going on there. Because
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: everything else in that movie is like, because I was
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: listening to the rest of the music, and like, it's
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: the kind of weird music you need to be in
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: Split to fit his crazy brain, but This is, yeah,
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: an odd departure.
- 1:18:07Speaker 8: And the knees and the jeans have seen better days.
- 1:18:11Speaker 22: And she's no beauty queen, but you love her anyways.
- 1:18:58Speaker 22: You're sneaky like a fiery fox. It's that look that
- 1:19:05Speaker 22: tells you she's up to no good at all.
- 1:19:11Speaker 21: And she'll say whatever's on her mind. They're unspeakable things
- 1:19:20Speaker 21: and she'll speak them in vain and you can't help
- 1:19:23Speaker 21: but whisper.
- 1:19:51Speaker 7: Oh, she's gonna find another way back home. It's written
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: in her blood or it's written in her bones.
- 1:19:57Speaker 14: She'll only be bound, be bound by the things she chooses.
- 1:20:02Speaker 15: She'll only be bound, be.
- 1:21:48Speaker 9: I just remembered some movies that I watched on the plane,
- 1:21:51Speaker 9: so I'll be able to talk about those.
- 1:21:53Speaker 12: All right.
- 1:21:54Speaker 6: What are they?
- 1:21:57Speaker 9: Well, there's a few movies that Matt and I have
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: watched together that we can talk about, but I'll talk
- 1:22:02Speaker 9: about the movies that I watched on the plane. Just
- 1:22:06Speaker 9: give me a second.
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: Is this, again, I don't go anywhere. So what's the
- 1:22:11Speaker 6: movie watching setup? They just hand you a tablet and
- 1:22:13Speaker 6: strap it to the seat in front of you?
- 1:22:15Speaker 9: It's already strapped into the seat.
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: Oh, God. What if I want my own tablet?
- 1:22:20Speaker 9: It is your own tablet.
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: You get to take it when you leave the plane?
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: No.
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: Then it is not my tablet.
- 1:22:26Speaker 9: It's literally a part of the seat.
- 1:22:28Speaker 6: So you can rip the seats out, put it in
- 1:22:31Speaker 6: your car, and you get home.
- 1:22:33Speaker 9: Okay, so on the plane I watched La La Land.
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: Had you not seen it?
- 1:22:38Speaker 9: I had not seen it, no.
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:22:40Speaker 9: And, like.
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: No music in that one.
- 1:22:42Speaker 14: Moving on.
- 1:22:43Speaker 9: Yeah, right? So, I thought it was cute, like, and sad, also. Like,
- 1:22:51Speaker 9: it didn't have a happy ending.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: You know? Yeah, like a lot of it's pretty sad, yeah.
- 1:22:56Speaker 9: I think, like, they really nailed, like, couple dynamics in
- 1:23:00Speaker 9: that movie, but I also, like, thought it was a
- 1:23:02Speaker 9: weird format, and I don't really get what the hype is. Like,
- 1:23:06Speaker 9: I don't, like.
- 1:23:09Speaker 9: I thought it was good like really good but not
- 1:23:11Speaker 9: like an oscar movie i don't know luckily you don't
- 1:23:15Speaker 9: have to worry about yeah no i know i know
- 1:23:17Speaker 9: but it was nominated and almost won so.
- 1:23:19Speaker 6: It was nominated for as many as you can nominate.
- 1:23:21Speaker 9: It yeah i know for everything and you know like
- 1:23:24Speaker 9: but the the way they did the music it wasn't
- 1:23:26Speaker 9: it was kind of like a musical but not really
- 1:23:29Speaker 9: there wasn't enough like musical numbers for it to be
- 1:23:32Speaker 9: like a musical you know like.
- 1:23:34Speaker 6: But when there were, they were kind of huge.
- 1:23:36Speaker 9: Yeah, I know.
- 1:23:37Speaker 6: So, yeah, it's an odd mixture.
- 1:23:38Speaker 9: It was basically a movie about music.
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: I mean, that's the other half for me. Going in,
- 1:23:46Speaker 6: it's this weird balance between watching these people that are
- 1:23:51Speaker 6: just really driven and want to make their career happen.
- 1:23:54Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:23:55Speaker 6: And it's supposed to also be a relationship movie. And
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: both work, but it's just kind of like a weird...
- 1:24:01Speaker 6: combination like it is balanced i guess the way you
- 1:24:04Speaker 6: have to actually do that in life but like it's
- 1:24:07Speaker 6: funny like they usually settle on one or the other
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: and it usually becomes more of a relationship movie but
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: so much of that is just watching these two people
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: like get what they want basically like They end up
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: sacrificing other things along the way. But they both kind
- 1:24:25Speaker 6: of get where they want to go in a weird way.
- 1:24:26Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't really hate the storyline or anything like that.
- 1:24:30Speaker 9: Like I said, the format was just weird. The way
- 1:24:33Speaker 9: it started off with this huge musical number. And then
- 1:24:36Speaker 9: that kind of tapers off. And then there's not another
- 1:24:38Speaker 9: musical number for a while. But then there's songs. And
- 1:24:42Speaker 9: I don't know. It felt really not cohesive to me.
- 1:24:46Speaker 9: And I guess that's probably good because... you got to
- 1:24:50Speaker 9: break the mold sometimes or like break up the monotony
- 1:24:53Speaker 9: of like movie formats. But I don't know. It just
- 1:24:56Speaker 9: felt like really weird to me. I'm sure plenty of
- 1:25:01Speaker 9: people disagree with that. I think it was like perfect.
- 1:25:03Speaker 9: And the way it was done, it was like intentional.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Perfect.
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: But it's, I mean, it's impressive still, like regardless of
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: if you like it or not, like what you put
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: together is so grand scale, you know, it's like, and
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: in a modern day to like, Not only to make
- 1:25:18Speaker 6: a musical now that works, which rarely that happens, but
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: to also set it modern day. I don't know.
- 1:25:24Speaker 9: Musicals are having a comeback.
- 1:25:26Speaker 6: They are, but they're so hit and miss. Every time
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: somebody tries to do it, it still feels like people
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: are like, wait, what? It's not like back in the
- 1:25:35Speaker 6: day when you could just, anything was a musical. People
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: were totally open-minded to it. It's still so, it's just
- 1:25:41Speaker 6: an uphill battle to try to make that. go over
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: well so the fact that this one did as big
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: as it did it's kind of impressive too that like
- 1:25:49Speaker 6: they found a way to make it work but I
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: don't know it's like I like so much about it
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: but it does have it's weird issues along the way
- 1:25:59Speaker 6: so it's I don't know luckily you have it in
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: the stones.
- 1:26:05Speaker 9: That's all you need but I mean there were like
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: popular songs in there that everyone would recognize that they
- 1:26:12Speaker 9: were singing and then you know, like, obviously, like, Ryan
- 1:26:15Speaker 9: Gosling's part, he just had his own, like, music and stuff,
- 1:26:18Speaker 9: and then they incorporated, like, jazz songs and things into it,
- 1:26:21Speaker 9: so it's a really big theme of the movie, but, um,
- 1:26:24Speaker 9: I don't know, it was, it was good, it was
- 1:26:27Speaker 9: just weird to me. Um, another movie, I watched a
- 1:26:34Speaker 9: few movies, like, I watched Girl on the Train, no
- 1:26:37Speaker 9: music No, no.
- 1:26:39Speaker 6: I checked because I watched that. In the same time
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: period of all these other ones I watched it.
- 1:26:43Speaker 9: That I can recall like no songs.
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: Again, I won't go into it because I went into
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: that one. My thoughts of recently when I watched it.
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: What was your take on that just briefly?
- 1:26:54Speaker 9: I thought it was like really, it built a lot
- 1:26:58Speaker 9: of suspense. I was just like, man. And then I
- 1:27:00Speaker 9: felt like at the end I was just kind of like, oh.
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: I don't even feel like it built suspense. Like, I
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: was so disappointed.
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: Well, when you're, like, on a plane, you're not doing
- 1:27:09Speaker 9: anything else.
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: I'm just saying as a movie, not as your overall experience,
- 1:27:12Speaker 6: but I just feel like it was.
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: I didn't get any suspense.
- 1:27:17Speaker 25: Like, Midway Land, it was, like, before we even get
- 1:27:20Speaker 25: to something.
- 1:27:21Speaker 6: That was my complaint before. I was like, it's just
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: a Lifetime movie for, like, the first half all the
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: way through. I'm like, I thought there was supposed to
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: be some sort of murder or something going on. I'm like,
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: This is not Hitchcock, I can tell you that.
- 1:27:33Speaker 9: It was like a bunch of Lifetime movies, like rolled
- 1:27:36Speaker 9: into one thing.
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: I know, they all, well, that's what, I mean, before
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: I was just like, oh man, this woman's got a
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: horrible life.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: What a drunk.
- 1:27:42Speaker 6: Oh wait, well, maybe these people over here have a happy, nope,
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: terrible marriage. How about this? Nope, terrible marriage over there too.
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: I'm just like, good lord, this is the worst bunch
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: of people ever.
- 1:27:51Speaker 9: Yeah, but, you know, like, I wanted to, like, I
- 1:27:55Speaker 9: guess to her, I want to say the girl that
- 1:27:58Speaker 9: it was kind of about, essentially. Megan, like, her storyline,
- 1:28:02Speaker 9: you know, when she's telling her therapist a story, I'm like,
- 1:28:05Speaker 9: I want to watch that movie. Like, her storyline was interesting.
- 1:28:07Speaker 9: I was like, how?
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: Why?
- 1:28:09Speaker 9: How did you come to live in a random cabin
- 1:28:11Speaker 9: in the woods off the grid and no one knows
- 1:28:13Speaker 9: you have a baby?
- 1:28:14Speaker 6: Like, how?
- 1:28:16Speaker 9: Spoiler alert.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 1:28:18Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:28:19Speaker 9: So I was, like, really intrigued by that. But, yeah.
- 1:28:22Speaker 9: I mean, it was okay. But no, like, music, really.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: No.
- 1:28:26Speaker 6: I mean, hijacked. It's just a lot of crazy score.
- 1:28:29Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: That wasn't even really that impressive. It's really weird how.
- 1:28:32Speaker 9: Sometimes there's songs in movies and sometimes there's not. And
- 1:28:36Speaker 9: then one that Matt and I watched together, which we
- 1:28:38Speaker 9: can both talk about, we watched Get Out a few
- 1:28:41Speaker 9: days ago. It was excellent.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: It really was.
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: It was great. I think we're still officially on the
- 1:28:50Speaker 6: keep it minimum. It is amazing for as popular as
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: that got that everybody was still like, okay, I'm going
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: to shut up, but just go see it. So like,
- 1:28:59Speaker 6: I think, I think we still have, even that's just
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: now kind of hitting home video streaming kind of stuff.
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: So in like six or eight months, you know, everybody's
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: just going to go ahead and constantly go in detail
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: on this.
- 1:29:12Speaker 9: I'm not going to go into detail about it, but, um,
- 1:29:16Speaker 9: there was a, I mean, there was a score and
- 1:29:17Speaker 9: then there were a few songs. Um, and I like
- 1:29:21Speaker 9: one of my pet peeves is when songs are in movies,
- 1:29:23Speaker 9: just because like, it's a big budget movie and they
- 1:29:26Speaker 9: have the rights, like the copyrights to the song. And
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: it's just like really frustrating to me. It's just like,
- 1:29:32Speaker 9: I don't understand like this, but just think like, like,
- 1:29:36Speaker 9: like in the breakfast club at the end when it's like,
- 1:29:38Speaker 9: don't you forget about me. Everyone remembers that scene. Cause
- 1:29:42Speaker 9: that song was literally like, well, yeah, but it's such a,
- 1:29:47Speaker 9: like you, you tie that scene to the song. And
- 1:29:50Speaker 9: that's like, if you're going to go through the trouble
- 1:29:54Speaker 9: of like, getting a song in your movie like.
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: I mean make it relevant again doing this this specific
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: offshoot show like that's become kind of one of my
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: favorite parts of it is like because you can kind
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: of go any direction like you can settle in and
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: it gives you kind of a weird dynamic to play
- 1:30:15Speaker 6: with you can go through and be like okay these
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: are songs that are awesome because.
- 1:30:20Speaker 25: They are part of this movie like you cannot take
- 1:30:24Speaker 25: the movie out of the song or vice versa like
- 1:30:27Speaker 25: they are so synonymous at this point that like it
- 1:30:31Speaker 25: is an essential part of the filmmaking process is putting
- 1:30:35Speaker 25: this song in and then there are other ones that
- 1:30:38Speaker 25: are like this studio has got a lot of money
- 1:30:40Speaker 25: and we also own a record company.
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: So here's all the bands we signed two years ago
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: that we need to crank out some stuff for. So
- 1:30:48Speaker 6: there's so much of it. That's just like industry games.
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: And like, I kind of like pulling out of those
- 1:30:53Speaker 6: sometimes just because you get really weird stuff that you're like,
- 1:30:56Speaker 6: how did that end up on this soundtrack? So like,
- 1:30:58Speaker 6: that's a fun game from this angle. And then the
- 1:31:01Speaker 6: other one is just going back to stuff that actually
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: affects you. And like, I like, hearing people's take on
- 1:31:07Speaker 6: that and like finding things that were like really just
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: made an impression on people because there's such a well
- 1:31:14Speaker 6: put together song and on top of that the way
- 1:31:16Speaker 6: it's used in the movie so again from being the
- 1:31:19Speaker 6: weirdo that runs the show I like all that because
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: there's so many different avenues you can go down but
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: yeah in general artistically speaking it is it is a
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: very different thing to just slap a song in there
- 1:31:32Speaker 6: because you can yeah And they said, we're doing a soundtrack,
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: so pick 12 songs. Which is sometimes how it goes.
- 1:31:40Speaker 9: Sometimes that's what I feel like it is. And I
- 1:31:41Speaker 9: don't mind if the song isn't relevant. If it's like
- 1:31:44Speaker 9: an integral part of the scene. Like say you're driving
- 1:31:46Speaker 9: down the road in the car and you're listening to
- 1:31:48Speaker 9: a song on the radio. The song doesn't necessarily have
- 1:31:53Speaker 9: to be relevant. You just need a song.
- 1:31:55Speaker 6: If it's sort of realistic to your life. I mean,
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: how often does whatever random song comes on the radio
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: play such an important part in your day? So, I mean,
- 1:32:05Speaker 6: there are times when you can just use it as
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: atmosphere kind of stuff. But, I don't know. There's other
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: times it is just really forced in there.
- 1:32:13Speaker 9: But if you're playing the song and it's literally a
- 1:32:16Speaker 9: part of the movie, why is it not... an actual
- 1:32:20Speaker 9: part of the movie like you could put any song
- 1:32:22Speaker 9: here you know like that drives me insane but they
- 1:32:25Speaker 9: used a few songs in Get Out like in one
- 1:32:29Speaker 9: scene they used this really creepy song called Run Rabbit
- 1:32:32Speaker 9: and it's just like an old timey I don't know
- 1:32:34Speaker 9: much about it but it's just like an old timey
- 1:32:36Speaker 9: kind of like Run, rabbit, run, rabbit.
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: I think it came up on another one I was
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: looking at today.
- 1:32:43Speaker 9: It sounds like something like, I don't know if anyone
- 1:32:46Speaker 9: has ever played the Fallout game, but it literally sounds
- 1:32:49Speaker 9: like something that would be on that.
- 1:32:50Speaker 6: One of the other, because I was looking at other
- 1:32:53Speaker 6: stuff I'd watched in these last six months or so,
- 1:32:55Speaker 6: one of them was the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Yeah, yeah. Again,
- 1:33:02Speaker 6: because they're set back in time, almost all of it
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: is old-timey music.
- 1:33:06Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: Pretty sure that was on there so that like what
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: weird because i listened to that song earlier today and
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: went wow that doesn't fit with anything we're playing today
- 1:33:16Speaker 6: so we're not gonna use that but it was when
- 1:33:18Speaker 6: i sort of filed away and went that's a weird
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: creepy song like yeah.
- 1:33:22Speaker 9: So that's in miss peregrine's i'm perfectly.
- 1:33:24Speaker 6: Yeah i mean they've got a lot of like sort
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: of yeah that time period anyway.
- 1:33:29Speaker 9: It's a tim burton movie it's.
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: Probably not as creepy in the time period they're doing
- 1:33:33Speaker 6: and it's just a normal song but tim burton's kind
- 1:33:36Speaker 6: of creepy so yeah it works in his creepy world
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: too and.
- 1:33:38Speaker 9: The books are the ransom rigs books are creepy so.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: On the farm, every Friday On the farm, it's rabbit
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: pie day So every Friday that ever comes along I
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: get every day and sing this little.
- 1:34:11Speaker 12: Song Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run. Bang, bang, bang, bang.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: Goes the farmer's gun.
- 1:34:28Speaker 12: Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run, run. Don't give
- 1:34:34Speaker 12: the farmer his fun, fun, fun. He'll get by without
- 1:34:48Speaker 12: his rabbit pie. So run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run.
- 1:35:15Speaker 15: Thank you.
- 1:35:39Speaker 12: Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run, run. Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run. Bang, bang, bang,
- 1:35:52Speaker 12: bang goes the farmer's gun. Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run, run. Run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run, run, run.
- 1:36:07Speaker 12: Don't give the farmer his fun, fun, fun. He'll get
- 1:36:14Speaker 12: by without his rabbit pie. So run, rabbit, run, rabbit, run.
- 1:36:21Speaker 10: Run, run.
- 1:36:22Speaker 15: Hunting humans ain't nothing but nothing.
- 1:36:27Speaker 8: They all run like scary little rabbits.
- 1:36:30Speaker 15: Run, rabbit, run.
- 1:36:30Speaker 11: Run, rabbit.
- 1:36:32Speaker 15: Run, rabbit.
- 1:36:33Speaker 9: Yeah, that's really interesting. Can you imagine having such an obscure,
- 1:36:37Speaker 9: weird old song, and then in one year, two people
- 1:36:40Speaker 9: were like, I'm going to put this in my movie.
- 1:36:42Speaker 6: That happens a lot. Again, that's kind of one of
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: the things I like. Even when you find a song
- 1:36:49Speaker 6: from one soundtrack, somebody might reference it and it's from
- 1:36:52Speaker 6: a different soundtrack. They had a tie-in to it on
- 1:36:55Speaker 6: an entirely different movie than you did. I don't know.
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: There's a lot to it. That's kind of what I
- 1:37:01Speaker 6: like about this place.
- 1:37:02Speaker 9: It's really weird because the last time I really remember
- 1:37:07Speaker 9: anybody freaking out about a soundtrack Like, when I was, like,
- 1:37:11Speaker 9: really young, the Crow soundtrack, that was, like, life-changing to people. Like,
- 1:37:16Speaker 9: that was such an important soundtrack.
- 1:37:18Speaker 14: Oddly enough.
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: Played it to death, thank you.
- 1:37:20Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, I probably still have it somewhere. The
- 1:37:22Speaker 9: Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack had a lot of industrial stuff
- 1:37:26Speaker 9: on it. Yeah, that was, like, a really big thing.
- 1:37:28Speaker 9: And then, like... KMFDM. Yeah, there was a lot of
- 1:37:31Speaker 9: KMFDM and, like, lots of stuff like that. And then...
- 1:37:36Speaker 9: the Oh Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack like that literally
- 1:37:39Speaker 9: made like all people think they knew shit about like
- 1:37:42Speaker 9: bluegrass yeah.
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: I mean it that changed that entire industry it really
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: did like it it is one of those that like
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: there were weird little radio stations that still played that
- 1:37:53Speaker 6: and then like I mean our like public radio thing
- 1:37:57Speaker 6: here like it just blew up yeah all they played.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: All the time it's really weird new.
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: Shows were built around it and like yes it is.
- 1:38:05Speaker 9: Weird now there's like there's probably like someone playing a
- 1:38:07Speaker 9: banjo somewhere and not just because we were like in
- 1:38:10Speaker 9: kentucky but like i'm sure.
- 1:38:11Speaker 6: Every hipster band in the world now has something to
- 1:38:14Speaker 6: do with that you know like washboard.
- 1:38:16Speaker 9: Like i can't i can't imagine like I can't imagine
- 1:38:20Speaker 9: what hipsters would be like without that movie.
- 1:38:22Speaker 6: I feel like.
- 1:38:23Speaker 9: It wouldn't be a thing. I feel like everyone would
- 1:38:25Speaker 9: just be playing keytars or some shit.
- 1:38:27Speaker 6: Maybe so. Because it is like that. movie came well
- 1:38:31Speaker 6: before this new like aught style of music that kicked
- 1:38:35Speaker 6: in that all centers around that kind of it's not
- 1:38:39Speaker 6: that type of music but it's all rooted really heavily
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: in that type of music. So it is weird to
- 1:38:46Speaker 6: think about where music would be had that not been
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: such a weird hit. And for a movie that people
- 1:38:52Speaker 6: really didn't care that much about, but they loved the soundtrack.
- 1:38:54Speaker 9: No, that was a really popular movie.
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: It was, but it's not like some of their other stuff.
- 1:38:59Speaker 6: It still seems like it's one of the off steps
- 1:39:01Speaker 6: of like, it didn't totally miss some of their weird comedies.
- 1:39:05Speaker 6: It's one of the few comedies, I guess, that were
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: sort of successful, but it still wasn't a huge box
- 1:39:10Speaker 6: office success. thing it just kind of found its audience.
- 1:39:13Speaker 9: Eventually i think like a lot of their movies are
- 1:39:15Speaker 9: too like alienating for regular people and then i know
- 1:39:18Speaker 9: a lot of like dumb regular people who really enjoyed
- 1:39:20Speaker 9: that movie so again it's a little basket yeah no
- 1:39:26Speaker 9: like even no.
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: Not stoners i'm just saying like the people that latch
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: on to a thing in like i don't know it.
- 1:39:33Speaker 9: Finds at the same time lebowski was like not a success.
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: Oh no i remember like nobody cared about it back
- 1:39:40Speaker 6: when we.
- 1:39:40Speaker 9: Saw it kind of became like a thing did did
- 1:39:44Speaker 9: what's his face from here really like make is he
- 1:39:47Speaker 9: the one that's actually responsible for making that a thing
- 1:39:49Speaker 9: Or was there a Lebowski Fest before he started it?
- 1:39:52Speaker 6: No, I think he started that. I think it was
- 1:39:54Speaker 6: already a thing. I know. It already had the following.
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: I think he just sort of latched onto that.
- 1:39:59Speaker 9: Yeah. But I mean, he definitely grew it.
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: Because it is back again this year.
- 1:40:05Speaker 9: He definitely has contributed. Even if he didn't start the
- 1:40:08Speaker 9: cult fascination of Lebowski Fest, he's definitely.
- 1:40:11Speaker 6: Contributed to it. He spun it in a way that worked.
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: Even in ways that don't make sense, it worked.
- 1:40:17Speaker 9: Yeah, right. I remember the first Lebowski Fest. There were
- 1:40:21Speaker 9: people dressed up as bowling pins, like running down Barstown Road,
- 1:40:24Speaker 9: like just like moshing into each other. It was really funny.
- 1:40:27Speaker 9: It was Mother's Day. It's very strange. All right.
- 1:40:33Speaker 6: Well, that was a weird direction there and different from
- 1:40:36Speaker 6: the rest of it. So now it doesn't make the
- 1:40:38Speaker 6: big finale seem so left turn because I was going
- 1:40:42Speaker 6: with it again. Everything else has been pretty poppy and
- 1:40:45Speaker 6: kind of general rock ish stuff you might hear on
- 1:40:48Speaker 6: the radio. But Then I got to the, again, the
- 1:40:51Speaker 6: only other one that as I was going through stuff
- 1:40:54Speaker 6: that I'd watched these last like six months or so,
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: there was one that I was like, I got to
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: it again and went, oh no, wait, that song. And
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: it was one of the few times in recent history
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: I can think of during the movie. I was like, wait, wait, wait,
- 1:41:06Speaker 6: what's that song? And then like following up and watching
- 1:41:10Speaker 6: the credits to find out who that was. I was like,
- 1:41:13Speaker 6: cause it's a weird genre jump because you know me,
- 1:41:19Speaker 6: You know, one of the things I despise most in
- 1:41:21Speaker 6: the world is modern country music. So anything even like
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: remotely connected to country, I usually avoid, which is probably
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: why I don't know a ton of older artists in
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: that genre. Like I have respect for old style, like
- 1:41:36Speaker 6: super classic country going back to like, you know, Hank
- 1:41:39Speaker 6: senior is a good songwriter and like Patsy Cline is amazing.
- 1:41:44Speaker 6: So like you go back that far, it's pretty cool.
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: Everything now is a nightmare.
- 1:41:48Speaker 9: So um well you know like songs about girls in
- 1:41:53Speaker 9: jeans like why is it in every country song there's
- 1:41:56Speaker 9: some dude that's like so super surprised that a girl's
- 1:41:59Speaker 9: wearing jeans and a t-shirt don't forget yeah like jeans
- 1:42:03Speaker 9: and a t-shirt like holy fuck that's literally what like
- 1:42:05Speaker 9: 99% of people wear like all the time.
- 1:42:08Speaker 6: You're going to make me launch into my rant. So
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: basically because there's nothing to those songs. And that's what
- 1:42:15Speaker 6: I think is... I think is what angers me so
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: much about it is because it's still... built around this
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: bullshit thing about the working man and all this like
- 1:42:24Speaker 6: you know grassroots kind of down home people and i'm
- 1:42:27Speaker 6: like there is no music industry that is more corporate
- 1:42:32Speaker 6: than country because it's the only one that still functions
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: like that like everything else has changed every other pop
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: band and you know even like hip-hop like all of
- 1:42:41Speaker 6: them have moved into the internet and They're nothing but
- 1:42:44Speaker 6: downloading stuff off the internet. You've given away songs because
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: that's how you find your people and you make money
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: on shows. Country is still the only one. People go
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: to Walmart and they buy their fucking CDs because that's
- 1:42:56Speaker 6: how cutting edge they are.
- 1:42:58Speaker 9: I don't think I ever realized that. But yeah, there's
- 1:43:00Speaker 9: not like. any like country kids like looking for hot
- 1:43:03Speaker 9: new pop country songs.
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: No you listen to the same mainstream crap.
- 1:43:09Speaker 9: That has been cranked out even like trap music has
- 1:43:12Speaker 9: a culture of people who are like so interested in
- 1:43:16Speaker 9: finding it, you know? Like, yeah, there's not that with
- 1:43:19Speaker 9: country music. And not that I know of. I mean,
- 1:43:20Speaker 9: maybe we're wrong.
- 1:43:21Speaker 6: I mean, I'm sure there's somebody out there trying to
- 1:43:23Speaker 6: do something original to it that hasn't, and isn't making money. So,
- 1:43:27Speaker 6: I mean, that's more power to you. But I'm just
- 1:43:29Speaker 6: saying the corporation part of it is what pisses me off. Because, again,
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: all the other stuff in music fell apart. From, like,
- 1:43:36Speaker 6: Napster on, it fell apart. And nobody's really ever gotten
- 1:43:40Speaker 6: back to the point of making money like they used to,
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: except country. Those country artists.
- 1:43:45Speaker 17: Are still making a killing off of the old style industry,
- 1:43:50Speaker 17: off of the same people that they think, like, again,
- 1:43:53Speaker 17: like they think they're so working class, drive my pickup
- 1:43:57Speaker 17: truck down to the lake.
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:43:59Speaker 6: When in actuality, they go home to their fucking mansion
- 1:44:02Speaker 6: and they're doing it on your money as you drive
- 1:44:05Speaker 6: to your crappy job to pay for their mansion. Like it's,
- 1:44:08Speaker 6: it's so infuriating to me that like, because, and because
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: those people don't realize it, I'm like, do you really like,
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: they still seem to think, All these artists are, like,
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: down-home good people. And I'm like, bullshit. Most of them
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: probably don't even live in Nashville anymore.
- 1:44:22Speaker 9: Have you seen Keith Urban's hair?
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: They all live in L.A., I'm sure.
- 1:44:26Speaker 9: Like, Keith Urban has never fucking touched a shovel in
- 1:44:28Speaker 9: his life.
- 1:44:29Speaker 6: It's a fucking scam. That's the part that annoys me. Like,
- 1:44:33Speaker 6: all of the music industry is corrupt. But I'm like,
- 1:44:35Speaker 6: at least everybody just knows it. Like, everybody else that
- 1:44:37Speaker 6: listens to, like, pop music and whatever. Like, the music
- 1:44:40Speaker 6: industry screws people over. They're there to make money. Like,
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: everybody else ignores. Like, acknowledges the way that the system works.
- 1:44:47Speaker 6: Somehow country music fans seem to think there's still some
- 1:44:50Speaker 6: sort of old-timey, down-home, good-old-boy bullshit going on. And I'm
- 1:44:54Speaker 6: just like, no.
- 1:44:56Speaker 24: No.
- 1:44:56Speaker 6: Like, you're the one being screwed over. If you still
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: think that.
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: And it's all completely recycled. You've seen that YouTube video, right?
- 1:45:06Speaker 6: That runs... I mean, it's the same fucking song. Like
- 1:45:10Speaker 6: it's literally.
- 1:45:11Speaker 9: I know.
- 1:45:12Speaker 6: It takes six different country songs. Yeah. Four of which
- 1:45:16Speaker 6: I think were number one and the other two were
- 1:45:18Speaker 6: like in the top like 10 or 15. And like
- 1:45:21Speaker 6: it cuts back and forth and it does not miss
- 1:45:25Speaker 6: a beat. It is the exact same scenario. I mean,
- 1:45:27Speaker 6: you can make fun of all pop and rock for
- 1:45:30Speaker 6: being like kind of regurgitated crap. But I'm like, nothing
- 1:45:33Speaker 6: comes close to modern country.
- 1:45:35Speaker 15: No, no.
- 1:45:36Speaker 9: I mean, even in the 90s, country was not that bad.
- 1:45:38Speaker 9: You know, like, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw.
- 1:45:41Speaker 6: It was already gone for me. No, thank you.
- 1:45:44Speaker 9: I mean, I can get behind those people. No, thank you.
- 1:45:46Speaker 9: I mean, I have, like, a sense of nostalgia for them. But, like,
- 1:45:49Speaker 9: at least their songs weren't the same, like, five lines, like,
- 1:45:53Speaker 9: mixed up in different ways.
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: I still feel like they were the first ones that
- 1:45:57Speaker 6: stepped into that.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: It was all downhill anyway after Toby Keith.
- 1:46:02Speaker 9: Yeah, that I can agree with. Is he the one
- 1:46:05Speaker 9: that sings that How Do You Like Me Now song?
- 1:46:07Speaker 9: Because I was thinking about how, like, rapey that song is.
- 1:46:11Speaker 6: Probably. There's a lot of those songs, too.
- 1:46:14Speaker 9: Yeah, no, I know.
- 1:46:15Speaker 16: But, yeah.
- 1:46:15Speaker 6: It creeps me out. As all modern country does. Luckily,
- 1:46:20Speaker 6: that's not where we're going. So, I'm midway into The Monster.
- 1:46:24Speaker 6: Did you see The Monster?
- 1:46:25Speaker 9: The Monster?
- 1:46:26Speaker 6: No. It's really... I brought it up a while back,
- 1:46:30Speaker 6: but my take on it is it's like 75% indie drama,
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: 25% holy shit, monster movie. It's really surprisingly well put
- 1:46:42Speaker 6: together as a dysfunctional mother and daughter relationship movie that
- 1:46:47Speaker 6: in the middle of it gets jammed a legitimate old
- 1:46:50Speaker 6: school physical monster movie. And it's really cool. And on
- 1:46:55Speaker 6: top of that, at the beginning of the movie, she's like,
- 1:46:58Speaker 6: Mom's playing this record. And I'm just like, wait, wait,
- 1:47:01Speaker 6: what the hell is that? And again, I'm not familiar
- 1:47:05Speaker 6: with a ton of it. Are you familiar with Roger Miller?
- 1:47:07Speaker 9: Yeah, Roger Miller.
- 1:47:09Speaker 6: She's playing A World So Full of Love, and I
- 1:47:12Speaker 6: don't think I'd ever heard it. And I was like,
- 1:47:14Speaker 6: that's an awesome song. I mean I kind of knew
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: the name after I looked it up and then went
- 1:47:21Speaker 6: and looked at his whole discography and I'm like yeah
- 1:47:24Speaker 6: he's been working for a huge amount of years but
- 1:47:27Speaker 6: I don't think again it was one of those I
- 1:47:29Speaker 6: just avoid so much of the genre that like I
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: don't think I knew of any of his songs period
- 1:47:34Speaker 6: yeah he's.
- 1:47:35Speaker 9: The king of the road guy that's what I thought
- 1:47:37Speaker 9: like yeah king of the road dang me do.
- 1:47:42Speaker 6: Wackadoo you lost me there but king of the road
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: is pretty entertaining so But yeah, I had not heard
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: this one. So that's how I was going to go out.
- 1:47:51Speaker 6: That was one of the ones I bothered to follow
- 1:47:53Speaker 6: up in the credits and be like, who sang that song?
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: Because that's kind of awesome.
- 1:47:57Speaker 9: I think I probably have that on. Do you have
- 1:48:00Speaker 9: Roger Miller records too? Because I know I have a few.
- 1:48:04Speaker 9: So we probably even have that on a record somewhere
- 1:48:07Speaker 9: in there.
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: Busted out on vinyl, yeah.
- 1:48:10Speaker 9: No, because that would be like super complicated.
- 1:48:14Speaker 6: No, we can do it. We've done it for a previous.
- 1:48:16Speaker 6: I'm planning another return to the vinyl. But again, only
- 1:48:20Speaker 6: not for weird because it's popular again reasons, but mostly
- 1:48:25Speaker 6: because I occasionally run across things that only would have
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: shown up on vinyl because nobody would bother to put
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: it on something else now.
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:34Speaker 6: Or probably even transfer it into YouTube. Oh, yeah.
- 1:48:37Speaker 9: For my birthday, my aunt got me this really cool thing.
- 1:48:40Speaker 9: It looks like a tape player from the 80s, and
- 1:48:44Speaker 9: it is. It plays your cassette tapes, but it converts
- 1:48:47Speaker 9: them to MP3s.
- 1:48:49Speaker 6: I could use one of those.
- 1:48:50Speaker 9: It's really cool.
- 1:48:51Speaker 6: Except every time I've tried... Again, I had a lot
- 1:48:54Speaker 6: of tapes. Every time I've tried to play one, it
- 1:48:59Speaker 6: usually dies immediately. Really? And again, in the shifting of things,
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: I found my old school console unit and the actual
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: stereo it was hooked up to and put it all
- 1:49:13Speaker 6: back together. I was like, all right, let's see this thing.
- 1:49:15Speaker 6: Let's dig out some of this stuff and make it
- 1:49:17Speaker 6: work again. Going back a ways, it was a dual cassette,
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: let me tell you. So I put one in on
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: the A side and pushed play and it went locked up.
- 1:49:29Speaker 6: I was like, all right.
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on there.
- 1:49:32Speaker 6: B-side. Like, really?
- 1:49:34Speaker 9: Do you think it was the player?
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: It was, and it's a pretty, I won't out the corporation,
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: but it was a huge name company that put this
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: together back in the day. It did not hold up
- 1:49:45Speaker 6: the wear and tear of time and sitting for 10
- 1:49:49Speaker 6: or 12 years because I really have not used it
- 1:49:52Speaker 6: in a long time. But what's funny is the little
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: cheap deck that I bought before I bought that one
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: still works. The one that was like the super knockoff,
- 1:50:02Speaker 6: buy it at the department store version, that was like
- 1:50:05Speaker 6: an all-in-one unit stereo cassette player. Yeah, that one still works.
- 1:50:08Speaker 6: It goes to show you that crap might hold up
- 1:50:11Speaker 6: better than the big name rates. Never know. All right,
- 1:50:14Speaker 6: so we will go out with that. This is A
- 1:50:16Speaker 6: World So Full of Love by Roger Miller from The Monster.
- 1:50:21Speaker 6: And with that, I will remind you, Get a Life
- 1:50:22Speaker 6: will provide the soundtrack.
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: I know how it feels to be alive with no
- 1:50:30Speaker 5: desire to live. I know how it feels to die inside.
- 1:50:38Speaker 15: And try hard to forgive.
- 1:50:42Speaker 11: And my well-finding out is causal love just.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: Let me down. In a world so full of love,
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: yet not enough to go around. I was once so
- 1:51:03Speaker 5: proud to have her love that I could burst with pride.
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: But that sunshine turned to storm And now that's all
- 1:51:16Speaker 5: I feel inside It's enough to make me wish That
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: I could hide and not be found In a world
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: so full of love Yet not enough to go around
- 1:51:39Speaker 5: I could sit for days and wonder.
- 1:51:43Speaker 11: And not find.
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: The answer still.
- 1:51:48Speaker 11: By the time I die I wonder if by then
- 1:51:54Speaker 11: I even will. I must live to be a hundred
- 1:52:01Speaker 11: if I hope.
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: To live it down. In a world so full of love,
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: yet not enough to go around.
- 1:52:27Speaker 6: They're hard to come by. Not many people out there
- 1:52:30Speaker 6: have them. The internet does not have very many podcasts.
- 1:52:35Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:52:37Speaker 9: I think there's a podcast for everything now, which is
- 1:52:40Speaker 9: kind of cool.
- 1:52:41Speaker 6: There used to be a podcast for it. Now there's
- 1:52:42Speaker 6: 28 podcasts for everything, no matter how obscure it is.
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: Some joker's talking about it into a microphone. This episode
