- 0:00Speaker 1: So yeah, you guys have just put out a new album.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Yeah, tell me all about it.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Well, it's the last album was like nineteen years ago,
- 0:10Speaker 3: so it's I guess it's about time.
- 0:12Speaker 2: You know, Temperature we played every year, you.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Know, played festivals and but you know, the point was
- 0:20Speaker 3: that back in two thousand and seven eight, it was
- 0:24Speaker 3: the the end of the CD area.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Like you can make money out of selling CDs. You know.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It's like we are not the big band, you know.
- 0:33Speaker 3: So it's it's more like we all right, we got
- 0:36Speaker 3: to do something different differently.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Now we have to get find.
- 0:41Speaker 3: A job, you know, and do this for fun or
- 0:44Speaker 3: just to take all the good gigs, you know, And
- 0:47Speaker 3: so we did so and then we never meet up,
- 0:50Speaker 3: you know.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So it's hard to make music when you don't meet up.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Back then it was, but now it's a different ballgame
- 0:59Speaker 3: because it's we are communicating.
- 1:01Speaker 2: You're in Australia, I'm in Norway. Yeah, it's like now
- 1:05Speaker 2: it works.
- 1:05Speaker 3: You know, you can in fact see some different planets
- 1:08Speaker 3: and make an album.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And that is what we did.
- 1:13Speaker 3: In fact, the whole album is made like I did
- 1:16Speaker 3: guitars here at home, we sent sent you know, result
- 1:21Speaker 3: over to the other guys and they sent.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Files back and you know, with the files went.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Like this, and so that's the way we made the
- 1:29Speaker 3: album interesting.
- 1:31Speaker 4: That's that's And how did you find that obviously to
- 1:34Speaker 4: your being in studio doing album previously, did you find it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Was better or you had more room to work with
- 1:39Speaker 1: or was more frustrating? What was the outcome?
- 1:42Speaker 2: It's different.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I think it's more frustrating to being in the same
- 1:46Speaker 3: room as the rest of the band. You know, we
- 1:52Speaker 3: are like brothers. That's not brothers. You know, we've been
- 1:56Speaker 3: around for like thirty five years, you know, six years,
- 2:01Speaker 3: so it's like we know each other and yeah, but
- 2:05Speaker 3: this was the way to do it, and we decided
- 2:08Speaker 3: to try to give it a try after the manager
- 2:11Speaker 3: said it was like really frustrated on us back in
- 2:15Speaker 3: I guess it was twenty twenty one something. We had
- 2:19Speaker 3: a meeting, like in net meeting and it's like, please,
- 2:23Speaker 3: can we make another album before we all die?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah? That's the title. That's the title, Before we All Die?
- 2:31Speaker 4: Yes, I like it because I was gonna ask you
- 2:34Speaker 4: when I come about But that's actually a really cool story.
- 2:37Speaker 2: That's where it comes from.
- 2:39Speaker 3: You know, the title, but it's more like, you know, okay,
- 2:43Speaker 3: how do we link this up.
- 2:44Speaker 2: To to our profile some kind of way.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Our profile is like we comment on things, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 3: socially and you know, what's happening around the world.
- 2:57Speaker 2: You know, zactly is very direct.
- 2:58Speaker 3: In his lyrics, very very you know, open like this,
- 3:02Speaker 3: you know, no metaphorus, just straight straight, So how do.
- 3:08Speaker 2: We link it up? And it's like, well, take a
- 3:11Speaker 2: look around in the world today.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It's like before we all died, like fucking wars and
- 3:16Speaker 3: crazy American president and and the environmental issues you know,
- 3:21Speaker 3: with yeah, you know. So it's like it was link
- 3:25Speaker 3: it up to to to what's happening in the world,
- 3:28Speaker 3: you know, and and to make the title work the
- 3:31Speaker 3: way it's supposed to be, you know.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, no, it certainly it comes together and brings
- 3:36Speaker 4: it together. And I say, and there is a lot
- 3:38Speaker 4: of things to write about in the crazy world that
- 3:41Speaker 4: we live in these days. It's certainly gives for any
- 3:45Speaker 4: lyricist or writers such as myself.
- 3:47Speaker 1: There's lots of lots of material out there. You know,
- 3:51Speaker 1: you try drive.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Your best stuff from you know, at the hard times.
- 3:55Speaker 4: But yeah, it's funny. We never student to really like
- 3:57Speaker 4: to write about when we're happy.
- 3:58Speaker 1: To you.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Know, I think Sack and you know Sack is the singer. Yes,
- 4:11Speaker 3: he's doing ninety nine percent.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Of the lyrics.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think it's he can write about things,
- 4:19Speaker 3: you know, in whatever mood he is seeing, he can
- 4:22Speaker 3: write about the stuff that's needed here, you know, always
- 4:25Speaker 3: like you know.
- 4:26Speaker 2: So, I don't. I don't think that the mood is
- 4:29Speaker 2: like a problem. You know. It's like it's not, Oh,
- 4:33Speaker 2: I got to get into the mood now.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Feel pain.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's usually the post thing. It's like, after you've
- 4:42Speaker 4: been through the tame, you can reflect back and it's
- 4:45Speaker 4: it's a lot easier to draw from the Yeah. So
- 4:48Speaker 4: so he felt it less frustrating than obviously being Yeah, well,
- 4:52Speaker 4: you know.
- 4:52Speaker 3: It's it's been like a different process, and I liked
- 4:57Speaker 3: it very much.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I think the other guys like it to. Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 3: For me, it's like I get a song idea on
- 5:05Speaker 3: a sound file or or several sound files in my
- 5:09Speaker 3: computer my system, I hit play and I listen.
- 5:14Speaker 2: It's like, Okay, it's like I have a coffee. The
- 5:19Speaker 2: clock is not the studio clock.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Is not like.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Like I can I can eat dinner first, Okay, I
- 5:26Speaker 3: eat dinner, okay, and I go down and I listen
- 5:28Speaker 3: to it again.
- 5:29Speaker 2: No, and I try something that was crap. It sounds
- 5:33Speaker 2: really crap.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I sleep on it and the next day like, okay,
- 5:37Speaker 3: let's give it another go, and okay, now I got something.
- 5:41Speaker 3: So it's like, you know, I can really melt things first,
- 5:47Speaker 3: you know, and then make something that's really good for me, yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 3: and deliver it back, you know, to to to the
- 5:54Speaker 3: other guys and that that that way you're working suits
- 5:58Speaker 3: me very well.
- 5:59Speaker 1: So how does that come about?
- 6:00Speaker 4: So like yourself obviously you know the guitarist, You've got
- 6:03Speaker 4: some riots that you put down and send across and
- 6:06Speaker 4: then you know, how does the polish the end product,
- 6:09Speaker 4: I guess come together your lyrics like that do his
- 6:13Speaker 4: lyrics then? Or your drummer or how does it?
- 6:16Speaker 3: It's you know, it's it's uh.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Together.
- 6:22Speaker 3: And that record all the guitars here and Sack recorded
- 6:26Speaker 3: all his vocals at home, and we send it to
- 6:28Speaker 3: your who is like he's mixing the album. Yeah yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 3: and it's like and sometimes he sends a message back,
- 6:37Speaker 3: you need to do this better. It's not good enough,
- 6:39Speaker 3: you know. So it's like it's like the sound is
- 6:41Speaker 3: not good enough or it doesn't really you know, work
- 6:46Speaker 3: and the technically, Yeah, so maybe you have to redo
- 6:50Speaker 3: it and send it to him again. And it's like, okay,
- 6:53Speaker 3: thumbs up, it's good enough.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Now I can work with it. And he puts all
- 6:57Speaker 2: the ship together.
- 6:58Speaker 3: You know, and and and mix it, and the final
- 7:03Speaker 3: product is coming from him.
- 7:04Speaker 2: He's yeah, he did a really good job on his album. Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Nice, nice, nice.
- 7:09Speaker 4: So do you find that that's that whole process as
- 7:12Speaker 4: well as much better than bouncing up one another like
- 7:14Speaker 4: in real time, putting it down and then getting us
- 7:17Speaker 4: tracked together and then sending that off to you you.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I can't remember it so long ago, you know, I.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Was gonna say, like in nineteen years like, did you
- 7:28Speaker 4: like not run out of material to play?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Like?
- 7:31Speaker 3: You know, it's it's it's, it's it's nineteen years ago.
- 7:34Speaker 3: It was from time to time very fun to do
- 7:38Speaker 3: it back in that way, you know, being the same
- 7:40Speaker 3: same room as the other guys, of course, But this
- 7:45Speaker 3: is how it works now, you know, because we are
- 7:47Speaker 3: on different way. We get together to rehearse maybe once
- 7:51Speaker 3: or twice a year.
- 7:53Speaker 1: You asked, these veterans, aren't you It's.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Like you know, we have to rehearse a little bit
- 7:59Speaker 3: more now because we have a whole album to rehearse.
- 8:01Speaker 3: It's not only one song and then another song like
- 8:04Speaker 3: three years later the third song, you know, So we
- 8:08Speaker 3: really have to meet.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Up a little bit more now to rehearse the whole summer.
- 8:14Speaker 3: We play the festivals, you know, and we get to
- 8:17Speaker 3: get it into the blood. Yeah, and sometimes we sometimes
- 8:21Speaker 3: it's like say we play the gig in September and
- 8:25Speaker 3: all winter goes, and then it's like April on May
- 8:29Speaker 3: and then we we meet up without rehearsing, go directly
- 8:35Speaker 3: on stage and it works.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Why should we rehearse, you know.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Stage?
- 8:41Speaker 4: Well, that's good, that's that's nice. That's refreshing to hear.
- 8:46Speaker 4: You guys have been doing it, as you say, for
- 8:48Speaker 4: such a long time. Has it's been any changes in
- 8:50Speaker 4: the lineup from the band or is it's pretty much
- 8:53Speaker 4: say the same.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Not since two thousand, two thousand six seven something.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Okay?
- 9:03Speaker 3: Then have we changed the drummer a couple of times,
- 9:05Speaker 3: just like spinal tap, did you know? Yeah, but the
- 9:11Speaker 3: guitar player he e quit in two thousand and three,
- 9:15Speaker 3: and then we drummers and then from two thousand and
- 9:18Speaker 3: seven till now.
- 9:18Speaker 2: It's the same same, same bunch.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Nice, nice, excellent.
- 9:23Speaker 4: And so you've got plans to do some motoring with
- 9:26Speaker 4: your new album that you've got coming up coming down under.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Oh I wish we could we could go to Australia
- 9:34Speaker 3: and play, you know, I really wish to, but it's economical,
- 9:37Speaker 3: it's an economical question, you know. But what we're going
- 9:40Speaker 3: to do this summer is like play like eight or
- 9:43Speaker 3: nine festivals all over Europe, and then we have a
- 9:46Speaker 3: club tour in the fall, going to I think eight
- 9:50Speaker 3: countries in central Europe in a bus three weeks, like
- 9:55Speaker 3: we did back in two thousand and eight something the
- 9:58Speaker 3: last time we did it. So it's gonna be interesting
- 10:01Speaker 3: to do this again, you know, a club tour, a
- 10:06Speaker 3: proper club tour.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I'm really looking forward to that.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Yeah, awesome. And so when was the last time you
- 10:10Speaker 1: guys have been to Australia. You have got to get
- 10:13Speaker 1: out of here down on the yep.
- 10:15Speaker 3: I've never been to Australia. We never played Australia and
- 10:19Speaker 3: I personally never been to Australia.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I would love to go there. For me, it's like
- 10:23Speaker 2: so exotic, you know, I would love.
- 10:25Speaker 3: To be there.
- 10:25Speaker 2: You know.
- 10:27Speaker 1: That's funny. It's it's I'm like, it's not really exhorted,
- 10:35Speaker 1: but it is. It is there. We are very lucky
- 10:37Speaker 1: in a lot of ways.
- 10:37Speaker 4: But yeah, I know that that's definitely going to be
- 10:39Speaker 4: on your before we all die for the Bugget list
- 10:42Speaker 4: is Yeah, the ideas go for sure that that's that
- 10:51Speaker 4: would be a really great way to promote your album.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I think just saying if.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Things are happening for us and we get a good offer,
- 10:59Speaker 3: we will, yeah, consider going there. And I'm sure that
- 11:04Speaker 3: everybody thinks it's.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Really fun and exotics to go to Australia.
- 11:08Speaker 1: It's all we think about. Now you might get some
- 11:10Speaker 1: office so that would be interesting.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Let's hope for that. You know, I can see the
- 11:15Speaker 2: tour in Europe is selling very good.
- 11:17Speaker 3: It's like we have to move some of the venues
- 11:20Speaker 3: up a little bit bigger, you know, to bigger size,
- 11:23Speaker 3: and one is.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Sold out and you know, so it's it's.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Really seems like things are happening for us here in Europe, right, Yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 3: so I really hope maybe that will happen. That was
- 11:36Speaker 3: you know, some kind of way spread out to the
- 11:39Speaker 3: rest of the world too.
- 11:39Speaker 4: You know, yeah, I'm sure that absolutely will, especially if
- 11:43Speaker 4: you've got some die hard fans and you got some
- 11:45Speaker 4: new nineteen years I have been waiting for it. So
- 11:48Speaker 4: it's probably my very very smart marketing tactic as well.
- 11:51Speaker 4: You know, it's like, just make them wait for that
- 11:53Speaker 4: long that when we do put something out, they're just
- 11:56Speaker 4: going to be all over it just because out of
- 11:57Speaker 4: curiosity if nothing else.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you might be right about that. In fact, it's
- 12:02Speaker 2: because it's we have had all i.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Mean, the thirty three years we've been like if you know,
- 12:13Speaker 3: releasing albums.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's.
- 12:17Speaker 3: People from the whole planet, you know, that is commenting
- 12:21Speaker 3: and sending us messages.
- 12:24Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:24Speaker 3: So it's like we have people who are connected all
- 12:28Speaker 3: over the planet, but it's like our main market is
- 12:32Speaker 3: in Europe and and but it's.
- 12:34Speaker 1: A good thing about your stats. You can see where
- 12:36Speaker 1: where you're today.
- 12:38Speaker 2: You can do that. You can see the stats so
- 12:40Speaker 2: much easier. You know, you could go to spotyby and it's.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Like everything, don't you how all they are where they're from?
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, it's.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Like a great Yeah, it's very old and I can
- 12:53Speaker 4: see how people get focuses on that it's not the
- 12:56Speaker 4: wrong right thing to focus on your putting your stuff
- 12:58Speaker 4: out there, but yeah, it isn't interesting. Yeah, definitely, definitely. Well,
- 13:03Speaker 4: thank you so much for coming to having chat with
- 13:05Speaker 4: us tonight and
- 13:06Speaker 2: Thank you for having me
