- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to just the cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hello, big blue nation. Welcome to just the cats. My
- 0:13Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Monday, September 21st. Hope
- 0:18Speaker 2: everybody's having a good earth, wind and fire day is, uh,
- 0:21Speaker 2: you know, we get to talk to you about some really, uh,
- 0:24Speaker 2: really good things today, which I'm excited about. Justin Kalin
- 0:27Speaker 2: is here with me this morning. Justin, are you, are
- 0:30Speaker 2: you okay?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Um, not particularly. I'm, I'm a little stressed because your,
- 0:35Speaker 1: your audio sounds awful, but I will have, you know,
- 0:39Speaker 1: it is not your fault. It's 1000% on my end.
- 0:42Speaker 1: So I've just, don't worry about it. I've kind of got,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I've got my fingers crossed that it corrects itself. The
- 0:47Speaker 1: podcast is going to sound great, but over the air
- 0:50Speaker 1: might not sound.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Don't stress about it, please. I want you to be okay.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Because you might stress over something else I want to
- 0:57Speaker 2: talk about. And I don't want you to stress over that. Listen,
- 1:00Speaker 2: I'm just having fun, okay? I am having the time
- 1:04Speaker 2: of my life right now. By the way, I wasn't
- 1:06Speaker 2: able to make it into the studio because I'm protesting
- 1:09Speaker 2: the parking lot. The parking lot has become a point
- 1:14Speaker 2: of contention for me. And the little preschool over here
- 1:17Speaker 2: is dictating where we can and cannot park in this place. Justin,
- 1:23Speaker 2: please help me understand this.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I can't understand it. That's where you and I differ, Michael.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 1:30Speaker 1: You put all your time and effort and energy into
- 1:33Speaker 1: trying to understand it. I just do what I'm told
- 1:36Speaker 1: and move on with my life.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:38Speaker 1: I don't want to deal with it.
- 1:40Speaker 2: But then you always just, then people know they can
- 1:42Speaker 2: just walk all over you. That's why. Because when it
- 1:46Speaker 2: starts with a little parking lot, guess what? Then it's
- 1:48Speaker 2: going to come, well, you can't use the front door. Well,
- 1:50Speaker 2: then you can't use that studio. It's like, what can
- 1:52Speaker 2: we do? I mean, I don't know.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I get it.
- 1:55Speaker 2: It's just one of those, it's just one of those
- 1:56Speaker 2: things that just, it's a little pet peeve that part
- 2:00Speaker 2: of me really wants to make it a big deal,
- 2:03Speaker 2: even though it's not a big deal at all.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope you don't. I don't want you to
- 2:07Speaker 1: make it a deal.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Part of me wants to go over to the office,
- 2:10Speaker 2: ring the little doorbell while I'm on the air, and
- 2:14Speaker 2: ask to speak to the person that is assistant about
- 2:18Speaker 2: not letting us park in certain places. Would that be fun?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Should I do something like that?
- 2:24Speaker 1: If I'm left out of it, sure.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Oh, come on!
- 2:29Speaker 1: I don't want anything to do with any of it.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Really? It's just fun.
- 2:33Speaker 1: See, I'm not a controversial person. I don't like controversy.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It makes me feel really uncomfortable.
- 2:40Speaker 2: You think it's controversial for me to do that, and
- 2:43Speaker 2: you think I enjoy controversy?
- 2:46Speaker 1: More than me, yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I just think it would be fun radio if I
- 2:51Speaker 2: went over there and knocked on the door and said,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I would like to speak to the person that won't
- 2:55Speaker 2: let me park where I want to park, even though
- 2:57Speaker 2: there's no reserve parking over there. And we've been told we, I,
- 3:01Speaker 2: what was it? Nine 30 last night. I'm already in
- 3:03Speaker 2: bed asleep. And I get this text that I can
- 3:07Speaker 2: only park in certain places.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It must've woke you up. Cause I received three texts
- 3:11Speaker 1: from you after the fact.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Exactly. It did wait. That's the sad part. It woke
- 3:16Speaker 2: me up. Cause I was upset at that point, little
- 3:19Speaker 2: preschool telling us where we can and can't park. But anyway,
- 3:23Speaker 2: I'm not going to let that ruin my day. I'll
- 3:25Speaker 2: let it ruin their day. Because I'll tell you what. Oh, preschool. Jeez.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I'm in too good a mood to let this preschool
- 3:33Speaker 2: really irritate me. But they're irritating me. And I'm ready
- 3:36Speaker 2: to go over there and knock on the door. So, anyway.
- 3:39Speaker 2: If you think I should, let me know on the
- 3:41Speaker 2: Whiskey Thief text line. 502-414-1450. If you want to call in, 502-384-1450.
- 3:43Speaker 2: We had a big weekend this weekend. We had a
- 3:52Speaker 2: big weekend in Louisville on top of it all. And
- 3:55Speaker 2: it's just amazing what all was happening over the weekend
- 3:59Speaker 2: within a what? Probably a mile, two mile radius of
- 4:04Speaker 2: each other. You had if you want to go to
- 4:07Speaker 2: Churchill Downs to watch some racing. Well, you had to
- 4:10Speaker 2: beat the traffic because you had. UofL playing at the
- 4:13Speaker 2: same time, then you had Louder Than Life all happening.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Can they not figure a time to have Louder Than
- 4:20Speaker 2: Life on a different, or a UofL game on a
- 4:23Speaker 2: different weekend as Louder Than Life?
- 4:27Speaker 1: I personally like it.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I was surprised about that.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I like it because it makes the city feel alive. Like,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I mean, when you got all this different stuff going on,
- 4:34Speaker 1: I mean, there was another festival that was here in
- 4:37Speaker 1: town going on, as well as the football game. Oh,
- 4:40Speaker 1: there was? According to you.
- 4:43Speaker 2: What festival?
- 4:43Speaker 1: I don't know. You posted about it on your Twitter.
- 4:47Speaker 2: The only festival I know is you got UofL playing
- 4:51Speaker 2: a home game. You got Louder Than Life and Churchill Downs.
- 4:54Speaker 1: I don't think you said Churchill Downs.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Oh, if I didn't, then that was a mistake. But,
- 4:59Speaker 2: I mean, it's just like, oh, my gosh, man.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Is that why we had the big wreck on Saturday
- 5:03Speaker 1: at Churchill Downs? Because of all the loudness.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Going on around? You know what? That's a good point.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I don't think so. But that was a real tragedy.
- 5:12Speaker 2: And one of the jockeys involved in it was one
- 5:17Speaker 2: of the jockeys that's riding my horses. Uh-oh. Martin Garcia.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And thank goodness he walked away with, had to go
- 5:25Speaker 2: to the hospital, but has four fractured ribs. So, but yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 2: that was a scary moment at Churchill Downs. I think
- 5:35Speaker 2: that was, what, the second race? on Saturday night. Of course, yeah,
- 5:39Speaker 2: there's a lot of people that left UofL's game, walked
- 5:41Speaker 2: over to Churchill Downs. I do like that. Listen, you're
- 5:45Speaker 2: not going to hear me criticize about that, but you
- 5:46Speaker 2: think UofL or Louder Than Life would work with each
- 5:50Speaker 2: other and say, you know what, maybe we should have
- 5:51Speaker 2: an away game or schedule this around an away game.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I hear what you're saying. You like the fact that
- 5:59Speaker 2: it made Louisville, the city, feel vibrant and everything was
- 6:03Speaker 2: going on because it's getting even bigger this weekend with
- 6:06Speaker 2: Louder Than Life Which I was talking, or I'm sorry,
- 6:10Speaker 2: Bourbon and Beyond, which is happening starting Thursday, isn't it?
- 6:14Speaker 2: It's Thursday through Sunday again? Yep. And I will say,
- 6:18Speaker 2: I tend to believe this might be the best Bourbon
- 6:21Speaker 2: and Beyond lineup they've ever had. I mean, I'm real
- 6:25Speaker 2: excited about it. We'll talk about it a little later on.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I haven't looked.
- 6:28Speaker 2: What? Are you having a look at the sketch? Oh, wow. Yeah,
- 6:32Speaker 2: it's a great lineup. So it'll be a lot of fun. So. Unfortunately,
- 6:38Speaker 2: I won't be here. I don't get to stay for it.
- 6:41Speaker 1: No, you can.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I could, but I choose not to. I'd rather... Even
- 6:47Speaker 2: if I was in town, I wouldn't want to go. Okay?
- 6:49Speaker 2: I just... The crowd, no.
- 6:51Speaker 1: It's too much.
- 6:52Speaker 2: It is. It's way too much.
- 6:54Speaker 1: The overhead views from Louder Than Life this weekend.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Were pretty good. Yeah. The people that would either get
- 7:02Speaker 2: a drone up there or would take pictures from the
- 7:05Speaker 2: Ferris wheel... That was fantastic. And I love seeing all that. Now,
- 7:11Speaker 2: I will say this. During the high traffic time when
- 7:15Speaker 2: I was leaving Churchill down Saturday night, the people watching,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and Sunday for that fact, the people watching was unforgettable.
- 7:26Speaker 2: And I cannot emphasize that enough. I mean, I have
- 7:30Speaker 2: never seen people dress in a certain way. I'm not
- 7:33Speaker 2: even close to making fun of them. Not making fun
- 7:36Speaker 2: of them at all. If that's the way they want
- 7:38Speaker 2: to dress, more power to them. But there was a
- 7:40Speaker 2: girl that was wearing a four-inch dress. And, you know,
- 7:48Speaker 2: a thong underneath that. And, I mean, her butt was
- 7:51Speaker 2: hanging out.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I mean, Louder Than Life, if I learned anything from
- 7:54Speaker 1: Louder Than Life coming to Louisville a few years ago,
- 7:56Speaker 1: it's the fact that that festival... you wear as little
- 8:00Speaker 1: clothing as possible.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I did not know that.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 2: It now makes me want to go to louder than
- 8:05Speaker 2: life just to experience it in person.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I don't know that I could really, I think.
- 8:14Speaker 2: All right. Maybe, maybe I should just go there, take
- 8:16Speaker 2: a chair and sit outside the front gates. And then that, listen,
- 8:19Speaker 2: I can hear the music in the background, but then
- 8:21Speaker 2: I'm still enjoying every bit of the people coming in
- 8:24Speaker 2: and out.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I don't know. Cause a lot of the people that
- 8:26Speaker 1: I saw that were wearing minimal clothing. Yes. Not ideal.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Like probably people should be wearing more clothing.
- 8:35Speaker 2: They are making bad choices. And that's the part I'm
- 8:38Speaker 2: here for. I'm a part of the bad clothing choices.
- 8:42Speaker 2: These people are making it. I want more of it. Listen,
- 8:45Speaker 2: they want attention. They clearly were getting it for me.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And I, cause I, I'll never forget. I mean, my
- 8:51Speaker 2: neck is hurting from how quickly my neck was turning around,
- 8:54Speaker 2: turning my head around the entire time, just sitting in traffic. Well, see,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I was pointing at edit four. I was like, look, look, look.
- 9:02Speaker 2: And then she would point at something else. It was fantastic. No,
- 9:06Speaker 2: we were definitely together. If I'd had a camera out,
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'd be taking pictures of it all in front of her.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I wouldn't be embarrassed of that. It was just, it
- 9:14Speaker 2: was a fascination that, wow, man, that's some interesting choices
- 9:18Speaker 2: in clothing there.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Happens to the best of us, I guess.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I guess so. I mean, I just, I was fascinated
- 9:25Speaker 2: by it. All right, let's go ahead and talk about
- 9:27Speaker 2: it because I tell you what, you and I both
- 9:30Speaker 2: thought no way Kentucky was going to go down to
- 9:34Speaker 2: Texas A & M And beat the Aggies.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Zero percent chance, yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 2: See, and I'm with you right there. It was zero.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I don't know if it was necessarily zero, but, I mean,
- 9:46Speaker 2: it was a chance that I thought would be very,
- 9:48Speaker 2: very low.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Michael?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Could have been more than 10 points. I feel like
- 10:02Speaker 2: Kentucky could have scored almost every time. I, the offense
- 10:07Speaker 2: looked great. Uh, UK looked better, played better than the Aggies.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, UK Stevens played better than I've ever thought
- 10:18Speaker 2: the defense would play this entire year. I really, where
- 10:22Speaker 2: I thought Kentucky would struggle the most this year is
- 10:24Speaker 2: on defense. That was probably one of Mark Stoops' strong points.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Especially coming off of the Alabama game last week. I mean,
- 10:33Speaker 1: you allowed them to put up, what, 45 points? I mean, that's,
- 10:37Speaker 1: you should have been worried about the defense.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, especially on that second half. UK looked great the
- 10:42Speaker 2: first half, but then the second half, now you wonder
- 10:44Speaker 2: could UK, if UK played Alabama again, do you think
- 10:47Speaker 2: the outcome would be the same? I'd love to see
- 10:51Speaker 2: that game again.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I would.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I know. I really would. I mean, the fact that
- 10:57Speaker 2: UK's defense forced A & M, here's the part that
- 11:00Speaker 2: was really eye-opening to me. The fact that UK forced
- 11:05Speaker 2: A & M to go forward and fourth down in
- 11:07Speaker 2: the third quarter. Of course, they made it, which really
- 11:13Speaker 2: frustrated me. But, I mean, the fact that A &
- 11:15Speaker 2: M felt like they had to go for it so
- 11:18Speaker 2: early in the second half. told me that, okay, they're
- 11:23Speaker 2: almost at crunch time. Or they were at crunch time.
- 11:27Speaker 1: That's because you had Minchie controlling the offense. He really did.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You weren't coughing the ball up. So they probably thought
- 11:33Speaker 1: defensively that, hey, when Kentucky's got it, we're not going
- 11:36Speaker 1: to get it back. So we got to do something now.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing. UK dominated the line of scrimmage.
- 11:43Speaker 2: And to me, I looked at that and I thought
- 11:45Speaker 2: so much for getting tired because I kind of felt
- 11:48Speaker 2: like last weekend the team got tired. This past weekend,
- 11:54Speaker 2: they didn't get tired. They were there to play, and
- 11:57Speaker 2: they just– I'm probably going to use dominate way too
- 12:01Speaker 2: many times this morning. But there's no other way to
- 12:04Speaker 2: describe it other than UK offensively and defensively dominated Texas
- 12:09Speaker 2: A & M.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Now, was there a small part of you, however, when
- 12:14Speaker 1: it was 7-7 at half where you started thinking, okay,
- 12:18Speaker 1: here we go again?
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yes. Yes. No, that's a small part of me. A
- 12:23Speaker 2: large part of me.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, because that's exactly where my head was at. I'm like,
- 12:27Speaker 1: all right, well, they did this against Bama too, but
- 12:29Speaker 1: this time they're on the road against a top 10 team.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I did not see that second half playing out the
- 12:35Speaker 1: way it did.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Well, what are the stats that always tell you the
- 12:38Speaker 2: first team that scores first is the team that's going
- 12:41Speaker 2: to win? And that's kind of how I always feel.
- 12:45Speaker 2: So since Texas A & M scored first, I'm like, okay, well,
- 12:48Speaker 2: there goes that. I mean, we're tied at seven. But
- 12:51Speaker 2: then UK comes out the second half, and I just
- 12:55Speaker 2: never dreamed they would take the ball and go down score.
- 12:57Speaker 2: And then they would hold off Texas A & M.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Then UK would take the ball again and go down score.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And then here's the other part. When the field goal kicker,
- 13:07Speaker 2: I can't think of his name right now for UK,
- 13:09Speaker 2: kicks that 52-yard clunker of a kick, hits the goal post,
- 13:15Speaker 2: and goes through. Okay, I looked at myself and said, okay,
- 13:19Speaker 2: that's destiny. Yeah. there's no way UK is going to
- 13:23Speaker 2: lose this game after that. Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I mean, you're exactly right.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 1: A lot of times with sports, no, no, no matter
- 13:28Speaker 1: the sport, you need a little bit of luck to
- 13:30Speaker 1: go your way. And that was, that was their lucky moment. Yeah,
- 13:34Speaker 1: it was.
- 13:34Speaker 2: And of course, everybody was celebrating on the UK side.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And I felt like at that point, the team felt
- 13:40Speaker 2: like they knew they were going to win. The only,
- 13:44Speaker 2: the only thing that worried me though, you know, that
- 13:46Speaker 2: first half Darby, the wide receiver for UK was, who's
- 13:50Speaker 2: going to be an unbelievable phenom, drops the touchdown pass.
- 13:54Speaker 2: And I'm like, because if he didn't drop that touchdown pass,
- 13:59Speaker 2: we're beating them at least by 17.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Which is insane to say.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It is insane to say. You know, it's one thing
- 14:09Speaker 2: to win this game at Commonwealth Stadium. It's a completely
- 14:15Speaker 2: different situation. When you're in front of 102,000 people, at
- 14:19Speaker 2: Texas A & M, that a majority, vast majority of
- 14:22Speaker 2: them are completely against you, and you go down there
- 14:25Speaker 2: and win. I get tired of people saying, well, Texas
- 14:29Speaker 2: A & M was overrated. No, no, no, no. Take
- 14:31Speaker 2: that part of it out. You're still playing in front
- 14:35Speaker 2: of 102,000, and that really does, majority of the time,
- 14:39Speaker 2: help a team play better. And for UK to overcome
- 14:43Speaker 2: that crowd noise was remarkable, without a lease.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it just happened to And I'm sure
- 14:49Speaker 1: they went through it with practice all week, just pumping
- 14:52Speaker 1: music and making it real loud in the stadium so
- 14:55Speaker 1: they could practice their silent counts and whatnot. But, yeah, never,
- 15:00Speaker 1: never in a million years thought it would play out
- 15:02Speaker 1: the way it did. It's unbelievable.
- 15:04Speaker 2: It is unbelievable. UK's got to figure a way to
- 15:07Speaker 2: keep Darby at UK. I don't know how they're going
- 15:10Speaker 2: to do it, but they have to figure somehow, some way,
- 15:14Speaker 2: open the checkbook and make sure. Because you can build
- 15:17Speaker 2: a team around him. Mm-hmm. I mean, he is just,
- 15:20Speaker 2: he's spectacular. Menchie looked great. I mean, 14 of 18
- 15:23Speaker 2: in passing for 252 yards, two touchdowns. Here's the other
- 15:30Speaker 2: crazy stat. His last 11 passes of the game, he
- 15:37Speaker 2: was 11 of 11.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't realize that.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Oh, that's the other part that was crazy. So, I mean...
- 15:46Speaker 2: I'm going to ask you, I think it's a dumb question,
- 15:49Speaker 2: but I mean, it's still out there. Do you think
- 15:54Speaker 2: this is one of those program-defining games, wins for Will
- 15:59Speaker 2: Stein this early? I mean, this is a first away game,
- 16:04Speaker 2: and he goes down and beats the number nine team
- 16:06Speaker 2: in the country. Is this a defining win for them?
- 16:11Speaker 1: I just don't know how you could classify it as
- 16:13Speaker 1: anything else. I mean, it is a massive win to
- 16:16Speaker 1: go down there. Like we said, you probably had– I
- 16:20Speaker 1: wonder what the percentage was before the game that Kentucky
- 16:23Speaker 1: had to win.
- 16:24Speaker 2: To win?
- 16:25Speaker 1: I don't know if you know that or not.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I don't.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It couldn't have been any more than 15%. Right. Nobody
- 16:33Speaker 1: saw this coming. I mean, I don't think– As much
- 16:37Speaker 1: as positive of a guy as he is, and I
- 16:39Speaker 1: know he had his team prepared, I don't even know
- 16:41Speaker 1: that Will Stein can honestly tell you, yeah, we expected
- 16:44Speaker 1: to go down there and win.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I mean, the one thing he did say post-game is
- 16:49Speaker 2: that after the game, he's not shocked. He said, this
- 16:54Speaker 2: is the way we practice. We were the better team.
- 17:00Speaker 2: And I look at this and think, okay, was this
- 17:03Speaker 2: the hardest game on the schedule? And I tend to
- 17:07Speaker 2: think it was. All right.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, look at how the SEC is kind
- 17:13Speaker 1: of broken down. Like, this schedule coming in we thought
- 17:17Speaker 1: was going to be pretty brutal, right? But now it's
- 17:20Speaker 1: kind of opening up. You've got Oklahoma that doesn't look
- 17:22Speaker 1: all that great anymore. Vanderbilt really hasn't been all that good.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Florida was impressive in their win against Auburn on Saturday,
- 17:30Speaker 1: but that game's at Commonwealth. I don't see a reason
- 17:33Speaker 1: why you can't win that one. So, What this win
- 17:36Speaker 1: did for me specifically is it had me reevaluate this team.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Like how many more wins are they going to have
- 17:44Speaker 1: over the four that I initially predicted? And I did
- 17:46Speaker 1: the exercise on my show this morning and I could
- 17:49Speaker 1: see seven, maybe even eight wins now, which is a
- 17:52Speaker 1: crazy thing to say.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Exactly. Now I'm looking back and think what an idiot
- 17:57Speaker 2: I sounded like because I picked two games and that
- 18:00Speaker 2: was it. And I'm looking at this, and I'm thinking, okay,
- 18:04Speaker 2: I truly believe that Texas A & M was, before
- 18:08Speaker 2: the game, the most difficult game of the season. Now,
- 18:12Speaker 2: you look how much they dropped in the polls, and
- 18:13Speaker 2: we'll talk about that a little later, but they dropped
- 18:16Speaker 2: to the third country after being number nine. I think
- 18:19Speaker 2: it's kind of crazy, but you got South Alabama next,
- 18:23Speaker 2: South Carolina, which is at South Carolina, LSU next, which
- 18:27Speaker 2: will be at Commonwealth Stadium. Then you got at Oklahoma, Vanderbilt,
- 18:33Speaker 2: as you mentioned a minute ago, at Tennessee, which right
- 18:36Speaker 2: now is ranked 14th. But then you got Florida and
- 18:39Speaker 2: Lexi at Commonwealth and at Missouri and then UofL. I
- 18:44Speaker 2: truly believe this was, and take Alabama out of it.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I think this was the toughest game because Alabama was
- 18:51Speaker 2: at home. So I look at that and I think, yeah,
- 18:54Speaker 2: this was the toughest game of the season. Never did
- 18:58Speaker 2: I dream that if we take one of these games
- 19:03Speaker 2: between Alabama and Texas A & M, and if you
- 19:08Speaker 2: told me UK was going to win, lose to Alabama
- 19:13Speaker 2: wouldn't be surprised, but go down to Texas A &
- 19:15Speaker 2: M and win down to Cobb Station, I'd have said
- 19:17Speaker 2: you're nuts.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 19:19Speaker 2: There's just no way that's happening.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, for me, coming into the season, I
- 19:23Speaker 1: would have probably said that game at Oklahoma would have
- 19:26Speaker 1: been the toughest, just because I was a huge believer
- 19:28Speaker 1: in Oklahoma. But like I said, the last, what, two weeks,
- 19:32Speaker 1: they've looked horrible. You take that loss to Michigan, you beat, what,
- 19:35Speaker 1: New Mexico by eight points this weekend. So that's the
- 19:38Speaker 1: point now where that game doesn't really scare me if
- 19:40Speaker 1: I'm a Kentucky fan.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Right. And see, I'm right there with you. I look
- 19:45Speaker 2: at this, was this the biggest win for UK football
- 19:49Speaker 2: in history? well at least in my lifetime no i
- 19:52Speaker 2: still say no who are you saying i mean i
- 19:57Speaker 2: don't know i still think it's lsu when lsu was
- 20:00Speaker 2: number one even though it was commonwealth stadium that's i
- 20:02Speaker 2: still think that's the greatest win ever yeah So, and
- 20:07Speaker 2: I know UofL came in that same year, what were they,
- 20:11Speaker 2: 16th or 18th in the country? And that was the
- 20:13Speaker 2: Stevie Got Loose game. And I still think that was
- 20:16Speaker 2: one of the more iconic games, but it's not the greatest.
- 20:20Speaker 2: I still think that UK beating LSU when LSU was
- 20:24Speaker 2: number one is the greatest. I think this is definitely
- 20:27Speaker 2: a top two or three win for UK. I still
- 20:31Speaker 2: believe that winning at Florida for the first time down
- 20:35Speaker 2: in Gainesville a few years back. What was that, 2018?
- 20:38Speaker 2: I still think that's up there as well. But anyway,
- 20:42Speaker 2: all right, we've got to take a break. If you
- 20:43Speaker 2: want to call in 502-384-1450 and talk about this game,
- 20:47Speaker 2: if you want to text me on the Whiskey Thief
- 20:49Speaker 2: text line, you can do that at 502-414-1450, or you
- 20:52Speaker 2: can tweet me at JustTheCatRadio. Stay right there. We've got
- 20:55Speaker 2: a lot more of Just The Cats coming right up,
- 20:58Speaker 2: even though we don't have parking spaces. We'll see you
- 21:00Speaker 2: in a minute.
- 21:01Speaker 3: This is Just The Cats. Thank you.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Is this the most overplayed song on this day every year?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I guarantee it.
- 21:48Speaker 2: But it's a great song.
- 21:49Speaker 1: It's an awesome song, yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I'm a huge Earth, Wind & Fire fan. I went
- 21:54Speaker 2: and saw them, well, a couple of years ago. I
- 21:56Speaker 2: think it was either the last year or the year
- 21:57Speaker 2: before down at the Palace. And they were still great.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I mean, everybody was into it. Not many people sat down. And,
- 22:05Speaker 2: of course, it was a little bit of an older crowd,
- 22:07Speaker 2: but they were good, and I enjoyed it.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I don't know how you could sit down with music
- 22:10Speaker 1: like this.
- 22:12Speaker 2: See, I'm with you right there. I'm dancing. I don't
- 22:14Speaker 2: care what I look like. I know I look ridiculous
- 22:17Speaker 2: when I dance, and I love that. But I'm going
- 22:20Speaker 2: to stay that way. So let's get to the win.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I would appreciate that. Let me get to the first one.
- 22:27Speaker 2: John here. All right, Michael, that was a big win
- 22:29Speaker 2: for sure for our football cats. I believe we should
- 22:32Speaker 2: have been ranked at least in the 25th spot. Either way,
- 22:37Speaker 2: if we take care of business this week, I believe
- 22:39Speaker 2: we'll be ranked when the next rankings come out. And
- 22:44Speaker 2: I could not agree with you more. Here's my... All right,
- 22:47Speaker 2: let's talk about this because Texas remains there. I guess...
- 22:54Speaker 2: the top five were all the same with the exception
- 22:56Speaker 2: of Ole Miss that really jumped up. I still, are
- 23:00Speaker 2: you buying in, we'll talk more about Ole Miss a
- 23:02Speaker 2: little later, but are you buying in that Ole Miss
- 23:04Speaker 2: is really this good of a football team?
- 23:08Speaker 1: I mean, that was a really impressive win on Saturday.
- 23:11Speaker 2: It was, but it was on their own field. It was.
- 23:14Speaker 2: And this is, A lot more motivation.
- 23:17Speaker 1: In that game. Yeah, I mean, they had a lot
- 23:19Speaker 1: to play for. They were hungry to get that win. So, yeah,
- 23:22Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. If you told me at
- 23:24Speaker 1: the end of the year Ole Miss was a playoff team,
- 23:27Speaker 1: I could buy that.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah. I see where Mississippi State entered. So, Texas A
- 23:35Speaker 2: & M fell from none all the way down to 23. So,
- 23:38Speaker 2: they fell 14 spots. And– And UK just beat them.
- 23:43Speaker 2: How does UK not get into the top 25? UK
- 23:47Speaker 2: goes to their stadium, beats them, yet Texas A &
- 23:51Speaker 2: M is still ranked above them. Now, granted, UK did
- 23:55Speaker 2: get 98 votes. So if you look at it, they're
- 23:58Speaker 2: ranked 27th in the country. But this is where I
- 24:03Speaker 2: truly do not understand rankings. Somehow, someway... Mississippi State gets
- 24:09Speaker 2: into the rankings, and I'm not sure I understand why. Now, granted,
- 24:15Speaker 2: I guess because they're undefeated, but the only teams that
- 24:19Speaker 2: they've beaten this year is Louisiana Monroe. They beat Minnesota,
- 24:25Speaker 2: and they beat South Carolina. So they're 3-0. But UK
- 24:33Speaker 2: goes down and beats the number nine team in the
- 24:35Speaker 2: country on their own field and does not get in
- 24:37Speaker 2: the top rankings.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I mean, it's like John said, if you just go
- 24:41Speaker 1: out and handle business this week, if you win that
- 24:44Speaker 1: game against South Alabama the way you're supposed to. everything's
- 24:47Speaker 1: all going to work out like the way it's like
- 24:50Speaker 1: at this point in the season Kentucky fans never really
- 24:53Speaker 1: thought that they were going to be anywhere close to
- 24:55Speaker 1: the top 25 I agree looking at that schedule and
- 24:59Speaker 1: with the way the Alabama game played out I mean
- 25:01Speaker 1: you you shouldn't have expected to be in the top
- 25:03Speaker 1: 25 this week but the fact that you're as close
- 25:06Speaker 1: as you are and knocking on the door of being
- 25:09Speaker 1: in that top 25 that says a lot in and
- 25:11Speaker 1: of itself.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Oh absolutely so I I think that uh it's going
- 25:17Speaker 2: to be a different outlook for South Carolina. Because South Carolina,
- 25:23Speaker 2: they lost this weekend. Is that right? Yeah, they lost
- 25:25Speaker 2: to Mississippi State. Did you see all– and this was
- 25:28Speaker 2: in Columbia, South Carolina. Did you see all the fans
- 25:31Speaker 2: holding up their phones that said, fire Shane? Yep. Ooh,
- 25:36Speaker 2: that was ugly.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Mississippi State in the top 25. Did you see that?
- 25:40Speaker 2: Oh, I just said it a second ago.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Sorry, I wasn't listening. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I literally just said, I'm sorry, Justin. You're struggling today,
- 25:50Speaker 2: and I'm not going to make fun of you. So, yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 2: I just said a second ago that how did Mississippi
- 25:55Speaker 2: State get in? And granted, they've beaten. I went through
- 25:58Speaker 2: the three teams.
- 25:59Speaker 1: That they've beaten so far. I missed the team.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Sorry. It's okay. It's okay. I'm not going to give
- 26:04Speaker 2: you a hard time. You're too good a person. So,
- 26:08Speaker 2: Buzz texted in, come on, Michael. We can't have parking
- 26:11Speaker 2: lot anarchy there. Must be rules. Hmm. But so, so, okay. Well, there,
- 26:22Speaker 2: there can't be rules. I'm sorry. It's a parking lot.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I should be allowed to park anywhere I want. I
- 26:28Speaker 2: feel like this is the, you never watched the office,
- 26:31Speaker 2: the office. I can't, I can't mention it, but there
- 26:33Speaker 2: was an office episode about the parking wars. So yeah,
- 26:37Speaker 2: it's not anarchy buzz. It's the fact that I want
- 26:40Speaker 2: to park where I want to park. I'm only here
- 26:42Speaker 2: two hours a day and then I'm gone. What's the
- 26:44Speaker 2: big freaking deal. So, uh, that's, that's, uh, I mean, Michael. Okay.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Gaslight festival. That was the other one. Okay. Yeah. I've
- 26:57Speaker 2: never been, is that the one in Jefferson town? I
- 27:00Speaker 2: don't know where.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, actually. Yeah, it is. Yeah.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. That's what I was saying. Uh, but, uh, anyway,
- 27:06Speaker 2: why is he saying, I mean, Michael, I don't know.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Did I say something? Oh, what, what didn't I say? Um,
- 27:13Speaker 2: One person texted it. Ole Miss is good. Best player
- 27:16Speaker 2: in college football.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Chambliss?
- 27:20Speaker 2: I assume he's talking about Chambliss.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I don't buy that.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I say I don't either. I watched him play against UofL,
- 27:29Speaker 2: and he looked average at best. I watched him play,
- 27:33Speaker 2: of course, Saturday night. He looked better. But he's not
- 27:36Speaker 2: the best player in college football. Who is? I don't
- 27:39Speaker 2: think that's been. See, that's the problem. I don't think
- 27:42Speaker 2: it's been defined yet.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It has.
- 27:44Speaker 2: It has?
- 27:45Speaker 1: It has. All right.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I'm writing to who here it is. Who I'm going
- 27:49Speaker 2: to totally disagree with you with.
- 27:51Speaker 1: That would be one Darian Mensah from Miami.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Why do you say that?
- 27:55Speaker 1: Have you seen his numbers?
- 27:58Speaker 2: Who is he playing?
- 28:00Speaker 1: I don't really care who he's playing. He is. Oh,
- 28:03Speaker 1: I do. He is 71 of 79 passing this year.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Dude has eight incompletions and 11 touchdown passes. That's nuts.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Yes, I got you. They only beat this past weekend.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Wake Forest by 13 points. Wake Forest scored 20 points.
- 28:26Speaker 2: They beat Florida A & M. Wow. Tough, tough game
- 28:30Speaker 2: right there. And they beat Stanford. They are playing no one.
- 28:35Speaker 2: So to tell me that it's great that he's putting
- 28:38Speaker 2: up these crazy numbers, but as soon as he plays
- 28:41Speaker 2: someone of significance, I want to see what those numbers are.
- 28:45Speaker 1: That's fine.
- 28:46Speaker 2: ACC is not a football conference.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I'm not, I'm not here to argue that with you,
- 28:51Speaker 1: but the fact that I don't, I don't care if
- 28:54Speaker 1: they're playing in the Ivy league, if someone's 71 of
- 28:56Speaker 1: 79 passing, that is a stupid, ridiculous percent. He has,
- 29:01Speaker 1: he's been over 85% passing in every single game this year.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I don't really care the opponent. That's really, that's outstanding.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Okay. I, I, I just, I, I just not buying
- 29:13Speaker 2: it yet, but, uh, When I'm seeing them play a
- 29:20Speaker 2: significant opponent, then I'll probably buy it at that point.
- 29:24Speaker 2: And he does all those kind of numbers.
- 29:27Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 29:30Speaker 1: You just hate the ACC.
- 29:33Speaker 2: It's not that I hate him. It's that I don't
- 29:39Speaker 2: respect him. Yeah. I don't respect him. I think there's
- 29:41Speaker 2: a big difference there. And I don't know. Who's the
- 29:47Speaker 2: wide receiver on Ohio State that's really good? That might
- 29:51Speaker 2: be who I would say right now.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Jeremiah.
- 29:57Speaker 2: That's it. Jeremiah Smith. That's who I would probably say
- 30:01Speaker 2: is the best player in college football right now.
- 30:04Speaker 1: No, when they have four or five losses at the
- 30:08Speaker 1: end of the year, you won't think that you.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Think, you think Ohio state's going to have four or
- 30:12Speaker 2: five losses. I made, I would love it.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I've made my prediction beginning year. They missed the playoffs.
- 30:17Speaker 1: All right.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Uh, texture said, pick a player. I will take, uh,
- 30:20Speaker 2: I will take one. You take one. I just did.
- 30:22Speaker 2: So Jeremiah, uh, Jeremiah, um, Smith is who I'm picking. So, Texter,
- 30:28Speaker 2: you tell me who your player is because that's who
- 30:30Speaker 2: I'm going with. Michael and Scoots, Scott here in St. Augustine.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Thank you very much. This guy hasn't texted in since
- 30:38Speaker 2: last December. I appreciate you listening in. Phenomenal college football weekend.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Love my cards. Great win over SMU. Yes, that was
- 30:49Speaker 2: a very good win. Over SMU. And I'm glad to see.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Because that's a game I really thought. SMU would bite
- 30:55Speaker 2: them in the butt. And walk away. And that would
- 30:57Speaker 2: be the loss for UofL. They shouldn't have lost. I
- 31:01Speaker 2: pulled for UK over TAMU. Texas A & M. Couldn't resist. TAMU.
- 31:08Speaker 2: That is true. Now I get it. I truly hate UK.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Because they dominated us in basketball. But absolutely love the
- 31:15Speaker 2: Will Steinhauer. Perhaps this past weekend's greatest watch. Ole Miss
- 31:20Speaker 2: over LSU. It was beautiful. As a podcast listener unable
- 31:25Speaker 2: to routinely interact, I've got two long overdue messages to each. Okay,
- 31:30Speaker 2: here we go. Are you ready? Scoops, congrats on IU football.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I don't care what team you support. The entire world
- 31:37Speaker 2: has watched history unfold. Awesome run.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Thank you. Very nice.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I'm a little worried what he's going to say to me. Michael,
- 31:44Speaker 2: if Will Stein becomes the next Kurt Cignetti, I'm boycotting
- 31:48Speaker 2: your show forever. Congrats on win. Go Cards. Well done, Texter.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I really appreciate that. What's wrong?
- 31:57Speaker 1: The audio got better. I told you. It was just
- 32:00Speaker 1: a matter of time.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Okay, good. I'm glad.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I'm so relieved.
- 32:05Speaker 2: I wasn't going to read it. Somebody texted me and said,
- 32:09Speaker 2: what is wrong with this audio? This is trash.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I told you, it comes in and out. I don't
- 32:14Speaker 1: know what and why and how, but you sound much
- 32:17Speaker 1: better now, yes.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Okay, good. Listen, I've sounded better. It's the voodoo, okay?
- 32:22Speaker 2: It's all because of the lack of parking spaces. That's
- 32:25Speaker 2: what it is. The lack of parking spaces. I'm boycotting.
- 32:28Speaker 2: You know, if I let my son go there and
- 32:31Speaker 2: enrolled him, granted, he's 29 years old or 27, whichever
- 32:35Speaker 2: one you want. If I enrolled him at this preschool
- 32:37Speaker 2: over here, you think they'd let me park anywhere at
- 32:39Speaker 2: that point? Because you know what? The parents that drop
- 32:42Speaker 2: their kids off do not pay attention to the parking spaces.
- 32:44Speaker 2: They park everywhere. They do. And why can't I park
- 32:48Speaker 2: anywhere I want? This parking thing is going to kill me.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I know I'm going to have a heart attack. The
- 32:54Speaker 2: texter texted back. He said, I will take Chambliss. Winner
- 32:57Speaker 2: gets dinner. Since the basketball, most wins won't happen. So
- 33:01Speaker 2: this guy is really wanting me to pay for his dinner. Listen,
- 33:06Speaker 2: just come on over to the station. I'll give you
- 33:07Speaker 2: $ 10 and go have dinner, okay? $ 10?
- 33:09Speaker 1: What the hell are you getting dinner for $ 10? Will Caesars?
- 33:14Speaker 2: You don't know? Yeah, there's all kinds of places. Ten bucks?
- 33:18Speaker 2: Come on, man. All right, how much does dinner cost today?
- 33:21Speaker 1: I mean, it really depends on where you go and
- 33:24Speaker 1: how much you're trying to save.
- 33:26Speaker 2: What is a fair price place to go for dinner?
- 33:29Speaker 1: I would say after tip, like 18 bucks.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Really? And where? Where am I going for that kind
- 33:36Speaker 2: of money?
- 33:37Speaker 1: Roosters.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Roosters?
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 2: You like roosters, don't you? Love roosters. You like that
- 33:42Speaker 2: chicken over there. My wife loves roosters.
- 33:45Speaker 1: By the way. You know what really is their defining
- 33:47Speaker 1: thing for me?
- 33:49Speaker 2: Roosters?
- 33:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 33:51Speaker 1: The nacho cheese sauce. It's so dang good.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Really?
- 33:56Speaker 1: Best in the world.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I'm all about chewies. They got this ooey gooey chewy,
- 34:04Speaker 2: which is just, it's got ground beef in it. It's fantastic.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Okay. I can get behind that.
- 34:09Speaker 2: I I'm all, I'm all about that. So, uh, you know, if,
- 34:14Speaker 2: if LSU Ole Miss did not play this past weekend,
- 34:18Speaker 2: this would have been the number one news story in
- 34:22Speaker 2: all the sports this past week, UK beating, uh, TAMU.
- 34:25Speaker 2: I love that. You said that texture. That's, That's going
- 34:28Speaker 2: to stick in my head from now on. But no,
- 34:30Speaker 2: I definitely think it was. And I loved it. Did
- 34:35Speaker 2: you hear what Mike Elko said after the game when
- 34:38Speaker 2: he went to Will Stein to shake his hand? The
- 34:40Speaker 2: audio was there.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I didn't hear it, no.
- 34:43Speaker 2: He goes, you kicked our ass. And I thought, you
- 34:46Speaker 2: know what? That's an honest observation. And for him to
- 34:51Speaker 2: say that to Will Stein, I thought that was right.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Mike Elko gained a lot of respect for me after
- 34:58Speaker 2: hearing that.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I mean, he wasn't wrong.
- 35:02Speaker 2: No, he wasn't wrong. And the other part is, in
- 35:04Speaker 2: the post-game interviews with his media, he said, listen, I
- 35:09Speaker 2: don't want to take anything away from the University of Kentucky.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I hate it when coaches do that. But Kentucky was
- 35:16Speaker 2: a better team today. And I really like that. Mm-hmm.
- 35:19Speaker 2: I love that. Here's the other part I love about
- 35:21Speaker 2: that game. The video of Will Stein hugging his dad.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that was cool.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I thought that was fantastic.
- 35:28Speaker 1: I didn't know for sure if that was his dad,
- 35:30Speaker 1: but that's that was my assumption. So that yeah, that
- 35:33Speaker 1: was awesome.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Yeah. And so when I saw that, it's like, oh, man,
- 35:37Speaker 2: it makes because that made me want to be with
- 35:39Speaker 2: my dad. Because my dad would have enjoyed that. Because
- 35:43Speaker 2: my dad was, you know, my best friend other than
- 35:46Speaker 2: Patricia and my boys. I was very close with my
- 35:49Speaker 2: mom and dad. And because when my dad was sick
- 35:54Speaker 2: with dementia, I would go to his place and we
- 35:58Speaker 2: would watch the games together. It was kind of nice.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I was lucky as far as with the dementia with
- 36:04Speaker 2: my dad. He remembered me every single day until the
- 36:08Speaker 2: final week of his life. So, but we would watch
- 36:10Speaker 2: games together. And so to see him, to see Will
- 36:13Speaker 2: Stein hug his dad and me last game, it just,
- 36:15Speaker 2: it made me feel good. But anyway, we got to
- 36:20Speaker 2: take another break. 502-414-1450. You want to text me on
- 36:24Speaker 2: the Whiskey Thief text line. We'll get to more of
- 36:26Speaker 2: your texts, and I appreciate you texting in. It's made
- 36:29Speaker 2: it easy and fun today. But we'll stay right there.
- 36:33Speaker 2: We've got more Jessicats coming around. Oh, we're going to
- 37:10Speaker 2: go all out on earth, wind and fire today. He
- 37:15Speaker 2: totally ignored the other song.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I sent you to, I played that one first. Thank
- 37:19Speaker 1: you very much.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I missed it. Okay. I'm sorry.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Even though we played it on Friday. Oh, he did? Oh, okay.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Never mind.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I didn't give you crap. It's fine.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Okay. Well, you should. I give you crap all the time.
- 37:30Speaker 2: It's true. Listen, when crap is deserved, you need to
- 37:33Speaker 2: give crap out. You're right. It needs to be dished,
- 37:36Speaker 2: and I deserve it. So, listen, I miss it. When
- 37:39Speaker 2: somebody didn't take the opportunity to give me any kind
- 37:42Speaker 2: of crap, I'm so disappointed. So, the other thing we
- 37:46Speaker 2: hadn't talked about is the run game for U.K., cj
- 37:50Speaker 2: baxter and jason patterson combined for 145 yards and 22
- 37:54Speaker 2: uh 25 carries averaging over seven yards 7.6 yards per
- 38:00Speaker 2: carry yeah i think that deserves it was it was
- 38:03Speaker 2: really really good yeah absolutely the other part is can
- 38:07Speaker 2: we talk about um mr coach top button you don't
- 38:14Speaker 2: remember jay bateman Uh, uncomfortably. Okay. This, this was at the, uh,
- 38:19Speaker 2: UK media days. He buttoned his top button and it
- 38:24Speaker 2: looked so tight on him that it almost looked like
- 38:28Speaker 2: his face was turning red and he was choking. Okay. Yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 2: You've got to go look that up. I mean, but
- 38:35Speaker 2: I'm kidding. But man, Jay Bateman deserves a lot. And
- 38:39Speaker 2: the other part that I enjoyed after the game, too,
- 38:41Speaker 2: some people took pictures of him. He went back out
- 38:45Speaker 2: onto the field to soak it in. And somebody took
- 38:49Speaker 2: a picture of him. And I thought that because, you know,
- 38:51Speaker 2: that was his team last year. And here he comes
- 38:55Speaker 2: to Kentucky, and all the people in College Station were
- 39:01Speaker 2: happy that he was gone, couldn't believe Kentucky hired him,
- 39:04Speaker 2: and here he comes back and totally dominates them. I
- 39:07Speaker 2: thought that was fantastic. The other part that irritated me
- 39:11Speaker 2: is that all the Kentucky players wanted to go back
- 39:14Speaker 2: out onto the field, just take pictures. Well, security at
- 39:19Speaker 2: Texas A & M wouldn't let them go back on
- 39:20Speaker 2: the field. What? Yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Is that the most petty thing you've ever heard of?
- 39:25Speaker 1: But yet media members can go back out there?
- 39:28Speaker 2: Yes. They wouldn't let the... players go out but the
- 39:31Speaker 2: media members could go back out i thought that was
- 39:34Speaker 2: rather silly yeah it's like all right yeah that's the
- 39:38Speaker 2: sign of a sore loser right there but uh uh
- 39:42Speaker 2: i i all right i do want to talk about
- 39:44Speaker 2: this too uh third quarter uh efficiency with UK scoring
- 39:50Speaker 2: on all three possessions. That was phenomenal. Was that UK's
- 39:56Speaker 2: best quarter they've ever played? No, probably not. But it
- 39:59Speaker 2: was one of their best without a doubt.
- 40:01Speaker 1: I mean, it definitely put the game away.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it did. It did. And the fact that they
- 40:08Speaker 2: just took over, it's almost like the Alabama flip. I mean,
- 40:13Speaker 2: that's where Kentucky just like, OK, we're not doing this.
- 40:15Speaker 2: We're going to take over this game. And they did.
- 40:17Speaker 2: They took over the entire game that third quarter. So
- 40:20Speaker 2: whatever changes the coaching staff, Will Stein, made that halftime,
- 40:28Speaker 2: I mean, was phenomenal. I would have loved to have
- 40:30Speaker 2: been a fly on the wall to hear what was
- 40:31Speaker 2: said at halftime.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I mean, I imagine with that score, 7-7, he was
- 40:37Speaker 1: probably pretty docile, right? I mean, just go in there
- 40:40Speaker 1: and say, hey, guys, look at the scoreboard. It's 7-7.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Top 10 team in the country at their place. Just
- 40:46Speaker 1: keep doing your thing. Keep doing what we've been doing
- 40:49Speaker 1: in practice, and maybe we squeak this one out and
- 40:51Speaker 1: come away with a win. I mean, I can't imagine
- 40:54Speaker 1: going into half he was mad at all. I mean,
- 40:57Speaker 1: were there missed opportunities in the first half?
- 40:59Speaker 2: Yeah, sure there were.
- 41:01Speaker 1: But the fact that you look up at the scoreboard
- 41:03Speaker 1: and it's a tie game that you've got to have
- 41:05Speaker 1: belief for the second half. And lo and behold, they
- 41:08Speaker 1: come out in the third and do what they did.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Well, a couple of other things I want to mention.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Defensive back. What's his name? Jordan Castell with 13 tackles
- 41:19Speaker 2: played the entire game. Can you imagine? How often does
- 41:24Speaker 2: that happen anymore that a player plays the entire game?
- 41:28Speaker 1: Not very specific. No, not at all.
- 41:30Speaker 2: And I could not speak highly enough of the defensive lineman,
- 41:35Speaker 2: Sam Green. I mean, I wish, you know, he's a senior.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I wish we had one more year with him. I mean,
- 41:41Speaker 2: if we could have this exact same team for two
- 41:43Speaker 2: years in a row, I think next year we would
- 41:46Speaker 2: be at the top 15, if not top 10 team. Yeah.
- 41:48Speaker 1: With a much easier schedule.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. So, but anyway, the other thing, I do
- 41:56Speaker 2: love the tradition of, of the student body after big wins,
- 42:01Speaker 2: national titles, that kind of stuff, burning the couches. I hope,
- 42:05Speaker 2: I hope the university and the city police and the school,
- 42:09Speaker 2: the University of Kentucky Police Department never lets that stop.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Because I love that tradition, long as it's safe. Yeah.
- 42:18Speaker 2: And maybe the fire department should be called, just let
- 42:20Speaker 2: it happen. We'll be here to supervise just to make
- 42:23Speaker 2: sure nothing dumb happens. But the burning of the couches is,
- 42:28Speaker 2: Has to continue. Because that was fun to watch that
- 42:31Speaker 2: entire student body out there watching that happen.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Here's the only issue I have with it.
- 42:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Don't do it in the middle of the street.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Or should you do it then? That's probably the safest
- 42:43Speaker 2: place to do it.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but then you're blocking traffic at that point. Can
- 42:46Speaker 1: you imagine driving down Lexington? Let's say you're not a
- 42:49Speaker 1: sports fan, which why would you live in Lexington if
- 42:52Speaker 1: you were not? But let's just say you're going for
- 42:54Speaker 1: a stroll, you're taking a trip to Kroger, and your
- 42:57Speaker 1: path is blocked because of a burning couch, and you've
- 42:59Speaker 1: got to turn around and go another way. What the
- 43:02Speaker 1: hell is going on here?
- 43:04Speaker 2: Come on. It's some side street, Joe Fart. Let them
- 43:08Speaker 2: burn their couch. It's a big win.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Do it in a driveway.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but you might. That's getting closer to the house,
- 43:14Speaker 2: closer to cars, closer to trees. I don't know. Do
- 43:17Speaker 2: it in the middle of the street. That's probably the
- 43:19Speaker 2: safest place.
- 43:20Speaker 1: That's my only qualm. All right.
- 43:23Speaker 2: You're such an old fart right now. I mean, some
- 43:26Speaker 2: days I just look at you and like, are you
- 43:28Speaker 2: 70 years old? Come on.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I feel like it.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Do you really? I mean, yeah. Or what happened this weekend?
- 43:35Speaker 2: I've got to know what you did this weekend to
- 43:36Speaker 2: make you wake up Monday morning and not be your
- 43:39Speaker 2: normal self.
- 43:39Speaker 1: No, I'm my normal self. I just think technology behind
- 43:43Speaker 1: the curtain. Technology issues always affect me mentally because there's
- 43:48Speaker 1: just nothing I can do about it. So I'm glad
- 43:50Speaker 1: that it's back to normal. That makes me feel good.
- 43:53Speaker 2: But, you know, I'm not going to add to that.
- 43:55Speaker 2: You know that, don't you?
- 43:56Speaker 1: I know that.
- 43:57Speaker 2: So don't ever worry, though, Michael's going to be upset.
- 44:00Speaker 1: No, I had a great weekend. Actually, I played Euchre
- 44:02Speaker 1: for the first time in probably 20 years this weekend.
- 44:06Speaker 2: What is Euchre?
- 44:07Speaker 1: You never played Euchre?
- 44:07Speaker 2: That's a card game? Yeah. I've never played it.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I don't know. I went 3-1 this weekend. I only
- 44:13Speaker 1: lost one game out of four. I was pretty pumped.
- 44:17Speaker 2: 3-1. I don't know what that means, but that's good.
- 44:19Speaker 1: That means I won three and lost one.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Oh, you did? Okay. Yeah. That's the one thing I
- 44:25Speaker 2: regret in my life is that I've never learned how
- 44:27Speaker 2: to play card games. I know how to play gin,
- 44:30Speaker 2: but that's all. Gin rummy. But I don't know how
- 44:33Speaker 2: to play anything. I don't know how to play poker.
- 44:34Speaker 2: I don't know how to play. My parents were trying
- 44:36Speaker 2: to teach me how to play bridge, and I'm like,
- 44:38Speaker 2: this is too much. I can't do it.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Speaking of being 70.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. And that's the other part. It just felt
- 44:44Speaker 2: like an old person game. It's like I'm not in
- 44:46Speaker 2: a nursing home. But I just, I don't know. Euchre,
- 44:52Speaker 2: is it easy to learn?
- 44:54Speaker 1: It's pretty easy. Yeah, I think you could pick it
- 44:56Speaker 1: up fairly quickly.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. I'd like to learn that then. I mean,
- 45:00Speaker 2: what are some card games you suggest that I should
- 45:02Speaker 2: try and learn? Euchre is one. Is there anything else?
- 45:05Speaker 1: I mean, if you don't know how to play Texas Hold'em,
- 45:07Speaker 1: what do you do?
- 45:08Speaker 2: No.
- 45:08Speaker 1: You got to learn that.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I have no idea. But my problem with poker, I've
- 45:12Speaker 2: told you before, I can't keep a poker face. Everyone
- 45:15Speaker 2: will know when I have a good hand and a
- 45:17Speaker 2: bad hand.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Gotcha. Well, you're the ideal player to play with.
- 45:20Speaker 2: See, exactly. You're going to take all my money. Michael,
- 45:23Speaker 2: we only play for 50 cents. Oh, well, tonight, Michael,
- 45:25Speaker 2: we're going to play 10 bucks a hand since you're here.
- 45:28Speaker 2: It's like, no, we're not doing that. I'm going to
- 45:30Speaker 2: walk away with $ 500 out of my pocket.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Can you play blackjack?
- 45:36Speaker 2: I can play blackjack, yeah. When you get 21, is
- 45:40Speaker 2: that right? Yeah. But that's not really– is that really
- 45:43Speaker 2: a card game you go to a house and let's say, hey,
- 45:46Speaker 2: let's play blackjack?
- 45:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you don't really play it socially other
- 45:48Speaker 1: than at a casino. Right, right.
- 45:51Speaker 2: And so I want to play something that's social like
- 45:53Speaker 2: gin rummy and this euchre thing.
- 45:55Speaker 1: We'll teach you some euchre.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Okay. I would like to learn euchre. I know my
- 45:59Speaker 2: sister and brother-in-law play euchre a lot. And I've just,
- 46:02Speaker 2: I've never learned. They have their friends over and they
- 46:05Speaker 2: do a whole Euchre night. And it's like, oh, man,
- 46:07Speaker 2: this is something Bob Euchre came up with. I mean,
- 46:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 46:10Speaker 1: It's spelled different, but yeah.
- 46:12Speaker 2: It is? Okay. All right, then. All right, well, we
- 46:15Speaker 2: got to take a break. Hour two coming right up.
- 46:17Speaker 2: But when we come back, I know, but I'm still
- 46:22Speaker 2: going to talk. Thank you for telling me 30 seconds.
- 46:25Speaker 2: But we're going to talk about A volleyball game that
- 46:28Speaker 2: happened yesterday. This has been a big... Is this one
- 46:31Speaker 2: of the biggest weekends for UK outside of winning championships?
- 46:35Speaker 2: And I tend to lean this might be one of
- 46:37Speaker 2: the biggest. So I'm excited about talking about the football
- 46:40Speaker 2: game if you want to a little more, as well
- 46:43Speaker 2: as the volleyball game. So we'll talk about Craig Skinner
- 46:46Speaker 2: volleyball as soon as we get back. 502-384-1450 if you
- 46:50Speaker 2: want to call. 502-414-1450 if you want to text. Stay
- 46:53Speaker 2: right there. We'll be right back. Hour 2 of Just
- 46:56Speaker 2: Catch coming up.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. All right,
- 47:09Speaker 3: now with number two.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Do you want to call it at 502-384-1450? Why are
- 47:28Speaker 2: you laughing at me?
- 47:29Speaker 1: I don't know what you were mumbling there when we
- 47:31Speaker 1: were coming back, but nobody understood a word of it.
- 47:35Speaker 2: I wasn't mumbling anything. I was just down, down, down, down, down, down.
- 47:39Speaker 2: That's all it was mumbling.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a song. Did you ever watch King
- 47:42Speaker 1: of the Hill?
- 47:45Speaker 2: No, I did not.
- 47:45Speaker 1: There's a character in that named Boomhauer. You kind of
- 47:48Speaker 1: sounded like him.
- 47:49Speaker 2: I did?
- 47:50Speaker 1: Oh, okay. So kind of like.
- 47:55Speaker 2: What was it? Snoopy when the teacher would talk. Why
- 48:00Speaker 2: can't they make the teacher talk? I never understood why
- 48:04Speaker 2: the teacher was never. It's almost like authority issue here.
- 48:08Speaker 2: It's like, OK, the kids can talk. But when it
- 48:10Speaker 2: comes to authority, a tated person and it's the teacher. No,
- 48:13Speaker 2: they don't get to talk.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I like it. Well, school would have been much more
- 48:18Speaker 1: enjoyable that way.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Well, this preschool over here would probably be more enjoyable. Okay,
- 48:23Speaker 2: I'll stop. I'm sorry. I'm making you uncomfortable. I'm just joking, okay?
- 48:28Speaker 2: And the sad part about it, they probably wouldn't think
- 48:29Speaker 2: it's funny. No. Taking parking spaces away. This person said,
- 48:35Speaker 2: I only fine-dine your pick as well. Oh, so if
- 48:40Speaker 2: I lose a bet with this person... I have to
- 48:43Speaker 2: find dining in Louisville, Kentucky. There are some really nice
- 48:47Speaker 2: restaurants here. What do you think he's talking about as
- 48:50Speaker 2: far as fine dining? And I'm sorry, my friend, uh,
- 48:53Speaker 2: we're not going to find dining.
- 48:55Speaker 1: Wait, is it, is it that the St. Augustine texture?
- 48:58Speaker 2: No, no, this is a different person. Uh, we had
- 49:02Speaker 2: that bet, uh, for dinner. If, uh, um, whoever wins the, um,
- 49:08Speaker 2: most games in college basketball, you know, UK leads that
- 49:11Speaker 2: right now by the skin of their teeth.
- 49:15Speaker 1: As long as you've got it down.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Really?
- 49:18Speaker 1: I forgot. Okay.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I've got two bets with you and still
- 49:23Speaker 2: haven't been paid. It's okay. I want us to have
- 49:28Speaker 2: lunch sometime. Sometime when you have free time. You owe
- 49:33Speaker 2: me at least to go to lunch with me. I'll pay.
- 49:36Speaker 2: But we'll go to lunch.
- 49:38Speaker 1: We're both so busy.
- 49:40Speaker 2: That's very true. Burger King did bring back the $ 1 menu.
- 49:43Speaker 2: There you go. Okay. I want to know what's on
- 49:47Speaker 2: the $ 1 menu, though. And is it edible? Oh, you're
- 49:50Speaker 2: going to find out what's on the $ 1 menu at
- 49:53Speaker 2: Burger King.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I might need some lunch today. Oh, really?
- 49:56Speaker 2: Okay. Will from South Central said, Michael, with all due respect,
- 50:05Speaker 2: I love this. Thank you. I really appreciate the respect.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Beck will from South Central. Super Camario Taylor and Mississippi
- 50:15Speaker 2: State should be ranked. He's the most exciting quarterback in
- 50:19Speaker 2: the nation outside of Trinidad Chambliss, who most definitely is
- 50:23Speaker 2: the current frontrunner for the Heisman. I get your angst,
- 50:27Speaker 2: but I would argue UK should be in the rankings
- 50:31Speaker 2: at the expense of Texas A & M. Not Mississippi State.
- 50:38Speaker 2: And dissing Trinidad Chambliss is like daycares taking up parking spaces.
- 50:43Speaker 2: It's just wrong! Well done, Will from South Central. Yeah,
- 50:50Speaker 2: that got me. Because I don't read these before. It
- 50:55Speaker 2: almost made me start reading. Well, it did make me
- 50:57Speaker 2: start reading before I started reading out loud. So, yes.
- 51:03Speaker 2: I don't know. You tell me. I guess simply because
- 51:09Speaker 2: Mississippi State is 3-0, even though the three teams that
- 51:13Speaker 2: they played were not the ninth-ranked team in the nation,
- 51:18Speaker 2: and UK played the week before the eighth-ranked team in
- 51:21Speaker 2: the nation and got beat, even though they were in
- 51:25Speaker 2: within the first half. So you're telling me that Mississippi
- 51:28Speaker 2: State beating three teams that are nowhere close to the
- 51:32Speaker 2: top 25 teams should allow Mississippi State to be ranked,
- 51:37Speaker 2: UK going and losing to the eighth-ranked team, but going
- 51:41Speaker 2: to the ninth-ranked team stadium and beating them handily does
- 51:47Speaker 2: not deserve ranking. Does that make sense to you, Justin?
- 51:51Speaker 2: And I'm not trying to be rude about this. I'll
- 51:54Speaker 2: do respect back at you, Will, from South Central. What
- 51:57Speaker 2: do you think?
- 51:58Speaker 1: I mean, I get... Kentucky fans wanting to be ranked.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I do. I understand the feeling of feeling deserved to
- 52:06Speaker 1: be ranked at this point in the season. But again,
- 52:09Speaker 1: like I said, top 25 right now doesn't matter. You
- 52:15Speaker 1: need to be way more concerned about your ranking at
- 52:17Speaker 1: the end of the season versus right now.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Because a lot's going to change from now until the
- 52:24Speaker 1: end of the season. So you do what you can
- 52:26Speaker 1: continue to win games. Who knows? I don't think it's–
- 52:30Speaker 1: I mean, I'm going to feel crazy saying this, but
- 52:33Speaker 1: I don't know that it feels all that crazy to
- 52:36Speaker 1: say if Kentucky does what they should the rest of
- 52:39Speaker 1: the year, if they play like they played on Saturday,
- 52:42Speaker 1: could you be a fringe playoff team? I don't think
- 52:46Speaker 1: it's out of the question.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Can you imagine that conversation? Because that's– yeah. I think
- 52:52Speaker 2: that's way too far down the line to say something
- 52:54Speaker 2: like that, but it is fun to hear somebody like
- 52:56Speaker 2: you say that. It is a lot of fun.
- 52:59Speaker 1: Maybe that's just me dreaming for a Kentucky-Indiana matchup in
- 53:03Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 53:05Speaker 2: I don't think we're ready for that.
- 53:06Speaker 1: How fun would that be?
- 53:08Speaker 2: That would be phenomenal. Can you imagine? We're all basketball
- 53:13Speaker 2: fans in this region. What if UofL, UK, and IU
- 53:18Speaker 2: all made the college football playoffs? How fun would that be?
- 53:23Speaker 2: Cause clearly I use going to make it. I UofL
- 53:27Speaker 2: is not going to have any problem with the scheduled
- 53:28Speaker 2: age guys. So they'll definitely be in it. But I mean,
- 53:32Speaker 2: how much fun would that be?
- 53:34Speaker 1: And it may not, it may not come to fruition
- 53:36Speaker 1: this year. I don't see any reason to believe that
- 53:39Speaker 1: in future seasons, that couldn't happen.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Right. I agree. Uh, but God, that made me laugh
- 53:45Speaker 2: right there. Will from South central. Well done today. Um,
- 53:48Speaker 2: Let me get to this one. 48 Handlers said, lot
- 53:51Speaker 2: of references to 70 types. Thought I was holding my
- 53:54Speaker 2: own on here. Not ready for the seniors tour yet.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Good job. Pony Express was late with the mail. Cards win.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Everything's relative, gentlemen. Shared a 7 o'clock hot and ready
- 54:09Speaker 2: with my date yesterday. Good enough for me. Oh, boy. Okay.
- 54:14Speaker 2: There you go. Wow. Is there an old Tinder version
- 54:18Speaker 2: for older people? Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Or no?
- 54:23Speaker 1: I just can't think of the name of it.
- 54:25Speaker 2: So there is one?
- 54:26Speaker 1: There is one, yeah.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Yeah. What's the one that most kids use today? Hinge?
- 54:32Speaker 1: I don't know anything about Hinge. Oh, you don't?
- 54:35Speaker 2: That was developed by a kid that grew up right
- 54:37Speaker 2: next door to me here in Louisville.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Really? Yeah, yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Justin McCloud. So I came up with Hinge.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Good for him.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it is good for him. He's done well
- 54:46Speaker 2: in life.
- 54:47Speaker 1: I would imagine... Oh, Silver Singles. That's the one I
- 54:50Speaker 1: was thinking of.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Oh, so there really is one. Yeah. Yeah, because you
- 54:53Speaker 2: know you got one for Jewish people, J-Date. Isn't that J-Date?
- 54:56Speaker 1: You got Senior Match, you've got Our Time, Silver Singles,
- 55:01Speaker 1: and then a lot of older people probably still use
- 55:04Speaker 1: eHarmony to some extent. Really?
- 55:06Speaker 2: See, none of the... All right, so how old do
- 55:08Speaker 2: you have to be to get on these things?
- 55:11Speaker 1: That's a great question. What if you have a little.
- 55:13Speaker 2: What may be a little fetish in your 30s, but
- 55:16Speaker 2: I like grandmas, and I'd like to go out with grandma.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Is he going to be allowed to come on Silver Singles?
- 55:21Speaker 1: I'll find out later when I try to sign up.
- 55:22Speaker 2: I don't know. Oh, my. You're going to sign up?
- 55:25Speaker 2: Please don't sign up for something like that.
- 55:27Speaker 1: I like me some older women.
- 55:29Speaker 2: On a different note, the disrespect for UK is ridiculous.
- 55:33Speaker 2: I have heard so many say A & M is overrated.
- 55:36Speaker 2: That's the part that's really frustrating me. It's like, okay.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Are they frustrated, overrated or not? No. And I don't know.
- 55:46Speaker 2: I think maybe they're a little overrated, but not that
- 55:50Speaker 2: terribly much. Still to go down there in their state. Now,
- 55:54Speaker 2: if this had happened to Commonwealth, I might lean towards
- 55:57Speaker 2: that a little bit. But to go down to their
- 56:00Speaker 2: stadium and win this in a sold out 102,000, person stadium.
- 56:05Speaker 2: That's a feat. So don't tell me overrated.
- 56:08Speaker 1: I don't think they're overrated at all.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:11Speaker 1: They just ran into a buzzsaw. What are you going
- 56:13Speaker 1: to do?
- 56:14Speaker 2: They really did. And it's just, it's been fun. And
- 56:18Speaker 2: I don't want it to stop. I'll tell you that
- 56:20Speaker 2: right now. All right, let's talk about volleyball for a
- 56:22Speaker 2: minute before we go any further. UK, the University of
- 56:26Speaker 2: Kentucky women's volleyball team led by Our great coach and
- 56:31Speaker 2: good friend Craig Skinner, I texted him last night, all
- 56:35Speaker 2: excited about watching that match last night. He was excited
- 56:39Speaker 2: and they beat the University of Louisville number three ranked
- 56:43Speaker 2: volleyball team in the country. This was a meeting of
- 56:45Speaker 2: the number three and number four team. It was a
- 56:49Speaker 2: sold out crowd at Historic Memorial Coliseum, which that was fantastic.
- 56:57Speaker 2: The other part that was a lot of fun is
- 57:00Speaker 2: that they had 6,045 in attendance for the win. Of course,
- 57:08Speaker 2: UK beat them 3-1. They lost the first set and
- 57:11Speaker 2: then ended up beating the next three. That was the
- 57:15Speaker 2: fifth largest crowd in program history. That was the third
- 57:20Speaker 2: largest crowd since the 24 renovations. And that's two years
- 57:24Speaker 2: in a row that UK has beaten UofL. So, you know,
- 57:27Speaker 2: there was a stint where UK had lost for, what
- 57:30Speaker 2: was that, 2020 through 2024. They lost four times in
- 57:34Speaker 2: a row. Now it's flipped. UK has beaten them twice
- 57:37Speaker 2: in a row.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I just wanted to thank you for my reminder text
- 57:40Speaker 1: because I forgot all about it.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Oh, you did? Okay. I needed a reminder text to
- 57:45Speaker 2: remind you back. So maybe that's the problem. You didn't
- 57:49Speaker 2: get to watch it, did you?
- 57:50Speaker 1: I didn't. No, I forgot all about it until I
- 57:53Speaker 1: hopped on. I guess I had hopped on Twitter like
- 57:55Speaker 1: 7 o'clock or something last night, and there was a
- 57:58Speaker 1: few people talking about it. I'm like, damn it.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought the greatest part, the UK swim and
- 58:04Speaker 2: dive team was there.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Okay.
- 58:07Speaker 2: And they ripped off the clothes that they had on
- 58:10Speaker 2: to show you that they had their bathing suits on underneath.
- 58:13Speaker 2: It was the best part.
- 58:14Speaker 1: Didn't they do the same thing last year?
- 58:16Speaker 2: Did they do it last year?
- 58:17Speaker 1: I don't remember. I think they did.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I could not... I couldn't wear one of
- 58:23Speaker 2: those things. No.
- 58:23Speaker 1: What are they?
- 58:24Speaker 2: Are they called bikini bottoms?
- 58:26Speaker 3: Speedos.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Speedos. That's the other name for them. Yeah. So you
- 58:29Speaker 2: couldn't wear them? Yeah. I would not have the nerve.
- 58:32Speaker 1: As much as I love my legs and as confident
- 58:35Speaker 1: as I am in my legs, no, I'm not wearing
- 58:37Speaker 1: a Speedos.
- 58:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, you're confident in your legs, are you? Are
- 58:41Speaker 2: you really?
- 58:42Speaker 1: That's some great legs.
- 58:43Speaker 2: More power to you. Do you?
- 58:46Speaker 1: Got some great legs.
- 58:48Speaker 2: At 9 15 in the morning that is not something
- 58:51Speaker 2: i want to hear you to continue to say okay
- 58:54Speaker 2: that you've got great.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Legs you got to be confident in something i'm confident
- 58:58Speaker 1: in my legs are.
- 58:59Speaker 2: You really okay i'm confident my hair is soft but
- 59:03Speaker 2: i'm not gonna sit here and just brag about my
- 59:05Speaker 2: hair being so soft It's also great.
- 59:07Speaker 1: You could be on Silver Singles.
- 59:11Speaker 2: No, I'm not going to be on Silver Singles.
- 59:13Speaker 1: I'm just saying, if that opportunity ever presents itself, they
- 59:16Speaker 1: would take you out there.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Well, let's hope it doesn't happen. I've told Patricia many times,
- 59:23Speaker 2: I hope and pray I die before she does, because
- 59:25Speaker 2: I will... I won't be able to survive if she's
- 59:28Speaker 2: gone first.
- 59:28Speaker 1: You think if you died first, she'd go back out
- 59:30Speaker 1: and date Patricia?
- 59:34Speaker 2: She, she would probably, I honestly, you want my honest answer?
- 59:39Speaker 2: I think she would say, listen, I survived Michael Bennett.
- 59:41Speaker 2: The last thing I want to do is marry somebody
- 59:43Speaker 2: else like him or even worse. So I, I bet
- 59:47Speaker 2: she'd be celebrating that I'm dead. So isn't that horrible
- 59:50Speaker 2: to say? I'm just kidding. But no, I honestly, it depends.
- 59:56Speaker 2: If I last another 20 years, yeah, I don't think
- 59:58Speaker 2: she would go out with anybody else. If I died
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: like now, I would hope she would. I mean, I
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: don't know. That's just a morbid conversation right there. What
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: a topic. I mean, man, you think Patricia will date anybody?
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: It may be morbid, but you entertained it.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: I have had more people come up to me and
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: ask Patricia if she is my daughter.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: She looks young.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: And she's older than me. I shouldn't say that. Oops.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: But yeah, it's just like, she loves it, by the way.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: It makes her feel good. And the funny part is,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: here's the other funny part. So I was talking about,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: you know, you brought up the four horses that went down.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: A horrible accident at Churchill Downs on Saturday night in
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: the second race. And of course, we're talking about Martin Garcia,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: our jockey, who we really like. He loves Patricia, and
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Patricia loves him back. And the first thing that happened
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: this weekend, Patricia texted me because she's down helping her
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: dad out in North Carolina. She texted me and said, Michael,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: did you see the accident about Martine? Have you talked
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: to Martine? Is he okay? I mean, he's like, Patricia,
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: settle down.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: I'll find out.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: I'll text his agent, Jockey agent, who happens to be
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Dale Roman's son, Jake Romans. I texted Jake. I said, hey,
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: We wanted to find out if Martine is okay. And
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: he immediately texted me back, said, did Patricia ask? So
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: he already, cause Martine's always saying, Hey Michael, I love Patricia. Anyway. Yeah. Exactly.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: That's what I figured. It's like, okay, Martine, I know
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: you love, I've said this to Martine in front of
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Patricia and Martine. I know you love Patricia more than
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: you love me. And he just laughs. He goes, I
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: probably wouldn't disagree. So, anyway.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Now, did they finish the rest of the racing on Saturday?
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Were they able to finish?
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Because I know they had to look for, like, fill-in
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: jockeys and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Wasn't that crazy? I mean, yeah. Because you don't know
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: what all transpires after the fact. And they had to
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: go find other jockeys to fill in for the other guys.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: And it was just a crazy situation. Unfortunately, one of
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: the horses had to be euthanized, which was horrible.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: But, yeah.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Huh?
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Lufkin.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: A familiar name in horse racing. Why is that?
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: I feel like I've just seen that horse run on
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: several occasions this summer.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Yeah. And I was sitting in Dale Roman's office yesterday
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: morning and the owner of that horse called him to
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: talk about it. He goes, because Dale looked the phone up. Oh,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: listen to this phone call, Michael. And he picks it
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: up and he says, yeah, let's talk about it. And
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: it's like, that was a heartbreaking. I mean, That's one
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: of those things. It's probably inevitable one of these days, oh,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I'll lose one of my horses just by age or
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: anything could happen. And that'll be a heartbreaking day for me.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: I will tell you right now. But anyway, let's talk
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: about some nice things again, okay? By the way, I
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: thought the viral video of the trumpet player, I don't
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: know if you saw that on Saturday. So the Diamondbacks...
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: Major League Baseball. What did they go by? Arizona Diamondbacks.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: They celebrated this weekend the 25th anniversary of their World
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Series back in 2001. What's the tall pitcher's name? The Rocket?
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Randy Johnson.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Randy Johnson was there. He was holding the trophy because
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: he was famously on that team as well. Of course,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: that was back 9-11. As much as I've never liked
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: the Yankees, that was probably the year I rooted for
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: the Yankees just because I wanted New York to win
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: something after what had happened with 9-11. So don't let
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: me get sidetracked. But the Arizona Diamondbacks were celebrating this
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: weekend the 25th anniversary of them winning the World Series.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: So they brought this trumpet player that had played back
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: then back out to play the National Anthem. He brought
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: his trumpet, and all of a sudden his trumpet goes out.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: And he ad-libs and starts singing it. And I mean,
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: not singing it okay. The guy had a beautiful voice.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: He did. And just, I thought he killed it. And
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: I love all the people that are giving him praise
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: for what he did. I didn't know a trumpet could
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: go out. Did you?
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Not really, no. I mean, I guess it was hooked
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: up to, was it hooked up? No, because he was
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: just playing it.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: He was playing it into the microphone.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: It's not like it has a hand or anything like
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: a guitar. Right.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Right. So it was just, he was playing it in
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: the microphone. The microphone didn't go out because he picked
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: the microphone and started to sing it. So I don't
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: know what happened to the trumpet, but he couldn't play
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: it anymore. And he just started singing. And the guy
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: had an amazingly beautiful voice. And if you hadn't seen
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: it yet, go see, go listen to that.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I mean, it was really cool.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Yeah. It kind of reminded me of the doctor. I
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: think it's Dr. I forget the guy's name at UK.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: When he goes and leads the national anthem at UK,
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: he's in the music department at UK, a professor there.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: I don't think he's the dean, but he just leads
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: the singing acapella. So he takes the mic, he starts
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: the song, the national anthem, and then he steps back
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: and leads with his hands. And it's just beautiful to
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: hear everyone at Commonwealth Stadium and or At Rupp Arena.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: And it gives me chills right now just to think
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: about it. I think he does the best rendition of
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: the National Anthem.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: There really is no better version of the National Anthem
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: than when the crowd's just singing it.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I love it.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Yes. So, see, I'm right there with you. When the
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: crowd is just, because, you know, it reminds me of,
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: of course, I grew up, and I still, I was
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: there yesterday at Westport Road Church of Christ here in Louisville,
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Kentucky on Westport Road. And I grew up in a
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: church where we don't have instrumental music. We sing a cappella. Yeah,
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: I know you gave me a crazy look, but that's
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: why we don't have instruments. We don't have pianos, guitars, drums,
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: none of that. We just sing with our voices, and
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: that's it. And so it always reminds me, okay, hearing
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: the national anthem in a cappella kind of reminds me
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: I am a church. I know it's different, but it's
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: a tradition that I really kind of like.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I can understand that. I mean, if that's what you've
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: grown up with.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: It is.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: I want my instruments.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: I'm sure you do. You want to rock out.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Give me the drums in church.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Yeah. There are some funny videos, though, of guys that
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: are playing drums in church and a tree drops on them.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Have you seen that? A tree? Yeah, there's like a
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: fake tree or bush in the sanctuary of that church.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: And for some reason, it falls over on the drummer.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: It's the funniest thing.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: I haven't seen that.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. There's some great drummer incidents videos out there
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: on social media. The one where the guy gets in
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: a fight with him. Somebody from the crowd at a
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: bar comes up and starts pointing at him and then
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: gives him the bird and the drummer just loses it
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: and starts a fight with that guy. And the singer
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: is up there just like, what's happening behind me? It's like,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: where's my drums?
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: You might not want to pick on a drummer on
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: account of they have two weapons in their hands.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Their feet? Oh, their sticks. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good idea. Yeah,
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: why would you get in a fight with a drummer?
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: But then again, if it's a guitarist, they could just
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: smash it over your head.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you've seen that famous one with Keith Richards.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: When the Rolling Stones, some guy came up there and
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Keith Richards takes his guitar and tries to hit the
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: guy coming on stage. If you were in a band,
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: who do you think the craziest person in the band is?
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Drummers.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: I see. That's what I always thought was a drummer,
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: not the bass player, not a keyboardist, not the lead
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: singer or lead guitarist. It's the, uh, the drummer.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I do think that differs from band to band though.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Like I've met bands over the years where the lead
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: singer is hands down the craziest. I've met bands where
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: one of their drummer or one of their guitarists are
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: the craziest member of the band. So I think it
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: really just varies, but I would say overall, probably.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, if you look at like red hot
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: chili peppers, for example, I think of the Red Hot
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Chili Peppers, it's not Will Ferrell or Chad Smith. Well,
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: you've seen that, haven't you? Chad Smith, the drummer for
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: Red Hot Chili Peppers, looks dead on like Will Ferrell.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Have you not seen that before? No. Oh, it's hilarious.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: They look almost like brothers. No, not almost. They look
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: like brothers, if not twins. Whoa. See, I told you. But...
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: He's not the craziest of that band. I think Flea,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: the bassist, is the craziest of that band.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Yeah. His name's Flea.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: I can't believe you never knew that. No. Yeah. That
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: is a good point. All right. We got to take it. break.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: When we come back, I do want to talk about
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: a new heavy metal band that just came out over
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: the weekend. And you're never going to believe who the
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: lead singer is. You'll never guess. It's a crazy story.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: So we'll talk about that. 502-414-1450. You want to text
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: me on the Whiskey Peak text line. Plus, I want
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: to talk about some of these other games. crazy games
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: that happened over the weekend, which was a lot of fun.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: And one of my kids was at that game and
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: didn't even stay. So we'll talk about that next. Stay
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: right there. This is Justin. What exactly are they wanting
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: to get down on?
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: You can use your imagination.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: You think so?
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Get down on the music is what I think.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: 48 Hanley said, speaking of Church of Music, King David
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: played the harp. I didn't know that. Is that real?
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: I guess.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: I guess as well. All right. I think the other
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: crazy game from the weekend, did you see? I didn't
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: watch it live, but did you see that? I went
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: back and watched part of the game, especially the ending part. Vanderbilt,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: North Carolina State game.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Jeez, O.P.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: Is that the crazy– in all sincerity, is that the
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: craziest into a game in the history of football?
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: It might be. All I know is I was pretty
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: ticked off because I was– I had gone– I don't
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: want to say heavy, but I had gone somewhat heavy
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: on NC State plus the three and a half. Oh,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: you had?
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: No.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: And they were– beating their ass the whole game covering
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: that number obviously the whole game and then i didn't
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: really see the end i had to go back and
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: watch it but when that score pops up on the
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: bottom of the screen vanderbilt 35 nc state 31 i
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: was like you got to be kidding.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Me yeah gotta be yeah uh see i'm right there
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: with you i i just i i saw that it's
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: like okay that that's just the wildest thing i've ever
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: seen and i thought there's no way that's real but
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: uh uh Thoughts on the Ole Miss beating Lane Kiffin
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: or should I say LSU? I mean, I don't know
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: who they want to beat more. I don't think they
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: cared that they beat LSU. Ole Miss. I think Ole
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Miss cared that they beat Lane Kiffin. They didn't care
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: about anything else. It was all about Lane Kiffin.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: I didn't really either. I was so ecstatic. At the
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: end of that game when the final buzzer went off
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: and they were the losers, I was so happy. Suck it, Lane.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: Were you really?
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Well, and then you had the– did you see the
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Ole Miss players, the two guys that were with him
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: last year?
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: That was weird.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: They just, like, stood and stared. Oh, I loved it.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: I loved it. You did? Oh, yeah. Make Lane– I
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: don't know. Make Lane feel as uncomfortable as humanly possible
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: after that loss. I am never going to be mad
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: at that.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: You know how you get back at a person that's
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: doing something like that to you?
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: You go out and beat them?
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: Yeah. No, you go shake their hand and say congratulations.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Well, he didn't do that because he's a winner.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: The fact that he didn't do that, exactly. I would
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: have gone up to him and said, hey, dude, congratulations.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: You played really well. And the fact that he just
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: kind of ignored him or did whatever. Some people said
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: he didn't look him in the eye. I thought he
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: was looking straight at him in the eye. But I
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: thought it was kind of weird that they did that.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: If I was one of those players, I'd want to
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: go up to him. Hey, coach, good to see you.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: I don't know. A coach is going to leave. There's
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: not coaches out there that aren't going to leave. They
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: do this all the time.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: But it's the fact that he left before the college
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: football playoff. That was such a weird decision. I would
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: have acted the exact same way as these players.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Didn't he ask to come back and coach the rest
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: of them? The AD wouldn't let him.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Yeah, he shouldn't be allowed to if you're already committing
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: somewhere else.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Well, you just talked that on both sides of your mouth.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: No, I'm not, because the season was still going on, Michael.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: You can't tell your athletic department, hey, I'm going to
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: take this job when the season's over. Okay, so you're
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: not committed here. Get the bleep out. You don't get
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: to coach the playoff.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Okay, so he should have waited. and secretively not told anybody.
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: So you would have respected him more for living a
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: lie other than being upfront and honest with your school, hey,
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: I'm leaving, going to LSU.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Would have respected him five times more.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: You can't let everybody know that your intentions are to
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: leave because then at that point, you're no longer committed here.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: That's the way I see it.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: So you think just because he's leaving, so John Summerall,
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: stayed at Tulane and coached his team to the very end. Yeah.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: How is that different? So you lost respect for John Summerall.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: Even though he stayed and he was committed to Tulane
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: till the very end.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: I didn't lose respect for Summerall because he lived out
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: what he said he was going to do. I mean,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: if you're the coach for this season, you've got to
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: continue to be the coach for this season.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: But he had already announced he was going to Florida.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: Yeah, but I guess staying around at Tulane, though, until
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: the end, it shows that he was committed. He was committed.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: And I think.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin would have been committed as well if he
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: was allowed to come back there.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Just let me hate on Lane.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: Hold on now.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Just let me hate on him.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: See, that's what I think. I think you want to
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: dislike Lane Kiffin so much, no matter how I turn
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: this around, you're always just going to dislike Lane Kiffin.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: That's it. But to me, it's just.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: It's the same situation because what you're telling me is
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: that you don't think Lane Kiffin wanted to win a title,
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: even though I'm telling you right now he did.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: That's not what I'm saying at all. Well, all right. Obviously,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: he wants to win a title.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: If he wasn't committed, then he wouldn't want to win
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: a title.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: Obviously, he wants to win a title or he wouldn't
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: have gone to LSU. But I'm just saying he had
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: that opportunity in front of him last year, and if
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: you go about things a different way, maybe you get
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: your chance to win that title. Right. But the way
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: it all played out, you don't get your chance. Now
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: you're living on hopes and prayers at LSU that you
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: can make that happen.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: All right. Let's talk about a tweet that came out
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: over the weekend. After UK won, after UofL won, Vince
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: Merrill puts out a tweet congratulating both teams. Majority of
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: the UK fans liked it. I would have to say
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: majority of the UofL fans hated it. And I thought
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: it was a nice tweet. what you're on the outside
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: looking in what do you think.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: I think it should not have been one the same
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: tweet if you want to put out multiple tweets i'm
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: fine with that but in your initial tweet to louisville's
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: big win you also throw in kentucky michael picture it
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: being the opposite let's just say vince merrill was still
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: on the coaching staff of kentucky when you all get
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: that big win on saturday And then he comes out
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: on Twitter and says, congratulations to my cats. Oh, and
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Louisville got a big win too over SMU. State of
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: football in Kentucky is awesome. No, you would have been pissed.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: You'd have been like, Vince, why are you bringing up Louisville?
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: We just got a win over the number 10 team
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: in the country. I thought it was a really goober
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: move to put them both in one tweet.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: Well, but, all right, so you're denying him that he
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: recruited some of these players to U.K.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: No, I understand.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: He can't congratulate them.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: And again.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: And I think that's the different situation.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Again, I am a-okay with him saying something about Kentucky.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: That in and of itself, I've got no issue with.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: But to say it in the exact same tweet as
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: the Louisville game, that's where I have a problem.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: Okay, I see what you're saying. Just separate the tweets
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: and from the outside looking in, it looks so much
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: better to me.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: I don't know. I have to think about that. I
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: don't know if it does or not, but, uh, uh,
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: to me, it's kind of one in the same. You're
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: still doing it. So what's wrong with things? Okay. You,
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: you might be right on that one. Uh, but, but
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: I just, with all the U of L fans that
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: are just losing it, that he did this dude, I
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: don't care about you. It just, it just kind of showed,
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: you know, this is why really.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: I didn't blame him. Not one class. I wouldn't, but
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: it's like, like, Let's just say Brian Haynes, Indiana's defensive coordinator.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: If he ever puts out a tweet, let's just say
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: we beat Ohio State again this year, and he tweets
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: after the game, oh, congrats to my Hoosiers, big-time win. Also,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Purdue with a nice win over Northwestern today. I'd be like, Coach,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: what the hell are you talking about? No one cares
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: about Purdue. You're our coach.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I know you may have had some history there like
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Vince in this situation, but, yeah, just separate the tweets.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: That's all I ask.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: I got you. What did you think about the Alabama
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: getting beat for a better part of the game against
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Florida State? I thought Mike Norville's job, the head coach
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: at Florida State, was going to be saved by beating them.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: I'm to a point now, I'm almost ready to put
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: some money down that DeBoer is going to get fired
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: sooner than later. I mean, even though he continues to
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: win and they still beat Florida State, these games are
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: a little too close to comfort. for these Alabama fans.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, they're very obviously still trying to find
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: their footing within this season. I mean, they did start
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: out really slow, but we saw that exact same thing
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: against Kentucky the week before. And what did you see
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: in this game that you also saw in that Kentucky game?
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Them putting their foot on the gas pedal in the
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: second half and winning fairly comfortably.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they did, and I don't have a problem with that. But, man,
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: that was a surprise to look up at the scores,
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: and there's that score with Alabama beating it. To me,
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: if not the worst team in the ACC, one of
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: the worst teams in the ACC. And I thought, boy,
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: that does not look good for DeBoer at Alabama.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Boston College and Syracuse might have something to say about
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: worst team in the ACC.
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: Well, I agree. I mean, I can't debate that. But,
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: I mean, you can go on the entire list. You
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: can list almost all ACC teams as the worst ACC team.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: Sorry about that. But they're just not very good. And
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: people are still fixated with Jordan Hudson and being on
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: the field and.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: Belichick just out there coaching.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: How did they freaking win? I don't know how they won,
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: but they did. That's crazy.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: That was probably the biggest shocker from Saturday. You think so?
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: The fact that they went into Clemson and got the win, yeah,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: I was shocked.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and that almost kind of feels like, okay, this
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: is the end of Dabo Sweeney, don't you think? There's
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: no way, after a loss to North Carolina, he survives
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: keeping his job there. Clemson has become a team that
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: is absolutely irrelevant. Not just in the ACC, but I
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: mean nationwide. They are irrelevant. So it's kind of getting
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: to a point where it's kind of sad. He won't
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: adapt to the NIL or a transfer portal or any
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: of that stuff. And that's what's purely killing his success,
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: which he did have success. But yeah.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Oh, wait, I lied. Holy smokes. I didn't even realize this.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: Clemson actually ended up winning that game.
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: Oh, they did win that one? Okay. We should kind
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: of know that.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: It was 22-3 in the second half. I thought when
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: that game was 20-6 at half, it was over. Yeah.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: Well, maybe this is the end of Belichick then. Maybe
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: it's the end of both of them.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: Yeah, probably. I mean, that's probably the more likely.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. And then the whole Colorado. Didn't Colorado play
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: like Northwestern?
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: They got smoked.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you hear the players– going into the stadium
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: saying this place sucks. This place sounds like a library.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: And then they get, end up getting beat by what?
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: 30 or 40 points. 34. I mean, okay, there you go.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: Cause I feel like that's the end of a Dion
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: Sanders now.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: Probably so.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Yeah. And that, and that's been a horrible, uh, uh,
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: situation over there, Colorado, but all right, we got to
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: take our last break. Uh, get back to your texts
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: as soon as we get back. 502-414-1450. And I got
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: to talk about this, uh, This unbelievable heavy metal band
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: that just came out, played over the weekend. You're not
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: going to guess who the lead singer is. So stay
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: right there. More just to catch up. Get down on it.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Get down on it. Get down on it. Get down
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: on it.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: When you're dancing.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: Get down on it.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Get down on it. Get down on it. Get down
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: on it.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: You were the girl that changed my world.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: You were the girl for me.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: You're making me feel old by playing this kind of
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: music today.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Making me feel happy.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Oh, really? Okay, I'm glad you like this. One person said,
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: UofL fans are pretend fans. They got called out by
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: one of their own. Diener stated that UK fans get
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: up better than UofL fans for big games. Card fans
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: crushing them.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Did you know this?
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: I didn't see this, but at least in terms of
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: this past weekend, I don't think that's fair. Because I
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: really thought both fan bases did a great job. Obviously,
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Kentucky's not at home, but there was still quite a
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: bit of blue in that stadium.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: There's a lot of UK fans, which I really did
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: not expect. And I was really happy with that. You
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: can hear the UK fans on the UK broadcasts. You
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: could hear it on the television broadcast. They were there
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: loud and proud. That was amazing. Everybody's going to think
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: I'm biased, but I've always thought that. I've never understood
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: UofL fans when they have a really big game in football.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: They don't go. If they do, they're there for a
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: half and then they're done.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: That wasn't the case on Saturday.
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: Are you sure about that? Cause when I was driving
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: to Churchill downs, it was when the game wasn't even
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: close to being over and people were leaving. And it
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: amazed me.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: I mean, at least on, I don't know about being
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: around down by the stadium, but at least on TV,
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: it didn't feel like Nate, you might've had a few
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: smatterings of fans that headed out the door, but for
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: the most part, I thought Louisville fans, they all showed up.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: They stayed for a majority of the game. I mean,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: at some point, you kind of knew that the game
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: was over and you could leave a little bit earlier.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well, I, I, I guess that's the case,
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: but you know, I, um, anyway, the only reason UK
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: fans left that first game early is because it was
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: so freaking hot. And I understand the game was out
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: of hand at that point. And I, I get that,
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: you know, what was it? Nick Saban used to complain
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: to the Alabama fans that you're leaving the game early.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: It's like, well, dude, they're, your team is beating them
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: by 40 points. Do you blame them? What else is
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: there to watch at that point?
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Did you see what happened in Nashville yesterday?
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: No.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: What happened during the Titans game? No, it was 157
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: degrees on the field. Really cleats were melting.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: You've got to be kidding me.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Their cleats were, they were spraying water on the bottom
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: of their cleats. So they didn't melt. But yeah, one player,
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I can't remember who it was. He said he went
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: through like three pairs of cleats yesterday because they just
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: kept melting.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: Well, what do you do when you're tackled? Isn't your
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: skin burning?
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: That's a great question. Wow. It is another argument, though,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: for the players that want the all-grass fields.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Exactly. 48 Handley said that years ago, Bo Schimbechler, famed
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: coach and then athletic director, replaced basketball coach Steve Fisher
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: prior to the tournament after he took another job. There's
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: the door of Michigan will coach our team. So a
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: Michigan man will coach our team. Yeah, I get that.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: I do. I get that. But I don't know.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: Just don't tell anybody what your plans are until the
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: end of the season.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: I still go back to the point that John Summerall
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: told Tulane and they allowed him to coach the rest
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: of the season. So I'm trying to understand what's the difference.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: He wasn't going in conference. Lane was.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Okay, so it's a conference thing is what you're telling me.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I mean, that's probably the main difference right there. We're
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: not going to let you hang out for the next
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: three weeks and get intel on us so you can
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: then use against us at LSU.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Okay. One person texted, thank goodness for the miracle doink
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: field goal so things didn't get too close. I agree
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: with that. That was an unbelievable– I'm almost to the
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: point where I don't know if I would have kicked
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: that field goal because you would have given Texas A
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: & M– it's a really good field possession right there
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: and a chance to go up there. So, I mean,
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: would you have gone for that field goal? I mean,
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: I would have almost punted it.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: It's easy to say yes now because it went in.
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: But at the time I probably wouldn't have made that decision.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: No. Would you think of Morgan Freeman? Did you watch
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: him on game day?
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: I never did see him on.
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Was he awesome?
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: He was, he was fantastic. he is so comfortable in
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: front of the camera and the things he said, listen,
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: there are a number of things. The fans started booing
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: when they started talking about Mississippi state, he turned around
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: and told everybody to shut up. I love that. He
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: referred to his, uh, he referred to Lane Kiffin as
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: what's his name. I just, I just, Desmond Howard called
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: him a living legend. And then, um, And then he
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: turns to Desmond Howard and says, listen, don't make my
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: head too big. And then he told Pat McAfee, don't
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: you forget who I am. And I thought that was
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: the best part. I mean, I could have listened to
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: Morgan Freeman the entire show. I was so sad that
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: he was only on for the little bit that they do.
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: He should have been on the entire time.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Would have been entertaining. Morgan's a, he's an entertaining listen.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I mean, there's been, in my opinion, yeah, I know
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: you could make an argument for James Earl Jones, but
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: in my opinion, there's, there's been no better voice in
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: terms of actors than Morgan Freeman.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: You know, that is interesting because I don't know if
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: I can, I can really say who the best one is,
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: but James Earl Jones voice, which is iconic and Morgan
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: Freeman's voice, which is iconic as well. I, as far
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: as anybody that has that icon, all right, I'll tell
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: you right now who it is. Another iconic voice is
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: the other guy I want to talk about. There was
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: a band that played a brand new heavy metal band
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: that played over the weekend. I forget where they played.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: But all of a sudden, out walks, are you ready
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: for this new heavy metal band? And they're getting ready
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: to play Enter Sandman by Metallica.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: 95-year-old William Shatner.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: What? He's 95?
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: Exactly. That is the part that is amazing. William Shatner
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: has started a heavy metal band at the age of
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: 95 years old. I know you got to fact check me,
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: and it's hard to believe, but believe me, he is
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: 95 years old. How crazy is that?
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: Looks like he's 65. I know it. That's crazy.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: What is he doing that's different than the rest of us?
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: Cause I'm afraid I'm going to get to a point
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: where I look older than William Shatner and he'll be 150.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: I mean, this is not, I don't mean this to
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: be offensive to you.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: I know you don't.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: You may already look older than William Shatner. And he's 95.
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: Is that the wildest thing you've ever seen in your life?
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: I would have never guessed he was that old.
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: In a million years.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: And look how active he is. That's probably the thing.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: I think the people that make it to that age are,
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: is the one thing they talk about is staying active.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: And I think that's it because he's so active still today.
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: Does he still own a farm around Lexington? I think
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: he does.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: That I don't know.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: He was always really big into the horses that do
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: the horse show during the state fair. I think they're
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: standard breads or something. He was always big into that.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: He owned a farm there for many years. So I
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: don't know if he still does or not. But, yeah,
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: I thought that was crazy. And I loved it.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Good for him.
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: I loved every second of it. The last thing I
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: want to talk about today, you know, Texas A &
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: M has that cheerleading squad. What are they called? The
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: Yell Leaders. The Yell Leaders. That's it. So they did
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: their practice that a number of media members for UK
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: went to to witness it. And they actually recorded what
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: they were saying. And the little cheerleaders were out there
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: saying that UK fans live in trailers and they definitely
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: figured out how to marry their cousins. Yeah, that was
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: all over Barstool Sports. That went national.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: After their loss. Pretty cute that the guy saying that
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: was in bedazzled overalls. what's that saying about them i
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: Well i yeah i know they're they're they're definitely unique
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: i will say that i mean it it is kind
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: of odd how they have cheerleaders down there and the
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: little motions that they make but uh you know the
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: one thing that stuck out you said a couple of
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: minutes ago was the amount of uk fans that went
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: down and uh i i was happy that those people
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: and then the other part is When the plane landed
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: in Lexington, there were a number of UK fans at
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: the Lexington airport.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: I know that they were trying to track down when
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: the flight was leaving all that and when it was
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: going to be landing. So I didn't know if anybody
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: showed up or not. That's good.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: Yeah, they did. They did. And they showed Will Stein
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: going over to the fence and shake their hands. And
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: I thought that was, listen, if those people are coming
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: out there, I think it was like 11, little after 11, 1130,
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: something like that. Those people came out there in the
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: middle of the night like that to greet you and
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: cheer you on for coming back and winning that game.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: I mean, they deserve a little credit, and I would
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: go over there and say hello to them. So it
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: was just an awesome, awesome weekend, and hopefully this is
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: just the start of it. I mean, Will Stein, I mean,
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: if people were questioning whether or not he'd be a
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: success at U.K., Of course, we're a long way from
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: saying that right now, but I think he made his
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: first really big step. And, man, I'm telling you, people
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: are going to be out there trying to get him.
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: If it continues to go the way we hope it does.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: But doesn't it kind of feel like you can try
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: all you want, but he's not going anywhere? Because that's
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: how I feel about it. I mean, the fact that
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: we're already having this conversation may be a little bit worrisome,
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: but I don't know that he's going to go out
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: and chase. It does kind of feel like. Cignetti at
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: Indiana where he's just content and going to try to
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: see how big he can build this thing. That's the
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: exact same way I feel about Stein.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: Well, the difference with Stein, Stein's from Kentucky. Yeah, he
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: played at UofL. He grew up a UK fan. So
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: if he did do anything, maybe go to UofL. But
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: I don't think he'd go to UofL. I mean, the
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: job's got to be open first. Jeff Brom's got to leave.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: But the other thing is with Kurt Cignetti, he's not
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: from Bloomington. He's not– from Indiana. That's the only way
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: I would see him going, but you're right. He's, he
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: has become content. Why would he leave at this point?
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: They're going to offer him whatever money they need. Now,
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: will they build a new big stadium for him up there?
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: I don't know. That's what I think would be the
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: next step. Can you imagine? You don't think so? No.
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: Why don't you?
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: More people don't want to go see the stadium is
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: big enough as it is.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: I don't even know what it seats up there.
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: Do you maybe 60?
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: Okay, well, we got a few matchups we're going to
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: talk about this week because it's going to be... The
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: UK kind of comes down off that high. They got
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: South Alabama this weekend. So we'll talk more about that
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: this week as well. So enjoy the win still. We'll
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: see you tomorrow on Just the Cats.
