- 0:35Speaker 1: All right, Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It's a Saturday on
- 0:38Speaker 1: a Wednesday before Thursday game. I got that in before
- 0:41Speaker 1: Paul stepped down. Anything to add. Paul knows his mouth
- 0:44Speaker 1: to shut you just wait, zip it, let him sip it.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'm sure the bills are favored. I don't know the number,
- 0:50Speaker 1: but it was five five, so that's eight yeah, right,
- 0:54Speaker 1: if you do the math right. You just didn't know
- 0:56Speaker 1: why you're making me laugh every time you do that.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I'm so mature. I can't handle it. Serenia and Serenian whatever, Hey, Jan,
- 1:03Speaker 1: thank you, Serenia whatever his name is. It's like Evan
- 1:07Speaker 1: couldn't be bothered by the Eagles offense is like what
- 1:11Speaker 1: I dream of and like my favorite dreams. I didn't
- 1:13Speaker 1: know you had a girlfriend, I would absolutely tell it.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I'm in love with ball. This is dreams about my
- 1:20Speaker 1: favorite dreams. Did you see that? R I'm really excited
- 1:25Speaker 1: about this game. Let's see what we've got. Like I said,
- 1:28Speaker 1: let's let's just get it over with. I'm excited. Let's
- 1:32Speaker 1: just get it like no, let's let's just rip this
- 1:34Speaker 1: band aid off. This is Patriot's Unfiltered fueled by Duncan.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Well if we ripped the band aid off Thursday? Ouch
- 1:44Speaker 1: ouch ouch, all right, it is Tuesday here at Gillette Stadium,
- 1:50Speaker 1: and uh getting ready for the West Coast trip Arizona
- 1:55Speaker 1: Cardinals coming up Monday night. So it's gonna be a
- 1:57Speaker 1: while before the Patriots have another game. It's me, It's deuce.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Eventually it'll be a full house. Paul's filming a camera,
- 2:04Speaker 1: you know. Oh yeah, so if there's a camera, there's
- 2:07Speaker 1: Paul and others will be stopping in at some point.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Practice was at noon today, so Evan will be here
- 2:15Speaker 1: and probably to Maroon, maybe Alex, and it'll be a
- 2:18Speaker 1: full house today. Yeah, eventually we'll get everybody started off
- 2:21Speaker 1: yet get them, We'll get him on the straight narrow.
- 2:25Speaker 1: But um, yeah, it's been a while since the Patriots played.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That was Thursday, and it'll be a while until they play,
- 2:32Speaker 1: which will be Monday, because technically this is a Monday.
- 2:35Speaker 1: This is a Monday technically technically. So are we ever
- 2:39Speaker 1: gonna get right again? I think next week, but we're
- 2:41Speaker 1: gonna be a little bleary eyed as we go into Well,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I guess now that's still a Sunday game, but Sunday
- 2:46Speaker 1: afternoon after the flexing. So yeah, we haven't had a
- 2:51Speaker 1: unfiltered show since the game, So I guess we need
- 2:54Speaker 1: to talk about what transpired Thursday night. Um, yeah, it
- 3:00Speaker 1: wasn't good. You know, I got a lot of engagement
- 3:04Speaker 1: on Twitter before the game because I said, you know,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I had a feeling that something special was going to happen,
- 3:09Speaker 1: and you know, nothing happened. Nothing special, that's for sure.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Chris Jones play was I mean, I know, for that
- 3:15Speaker 1: brief moment it was seven to three and the place
- 3:18Speaker 1: was going crazy, but the Bills just shut the door
- 3:22Speaker 1: on that. And you know, you could look at the
- 3:23Speaker 1: defense while they only gave up twenty four points, but
- 3:26Speaker 1: it was evident that the Bills shut it down for
- 3:30Speaker 1: the most part in the third quarter. And we're just
- 3:32Speaker 1: happy with running out the clock. And I do think
- 3:35Speaker 1: if the Patriots had been able to answer and score
- 3:38Speaker 1: more points, I think the Bills would have been too
- 3:40Speaker 1: yeah able to do that. It just seemed that way anyway,
- 3:42Speaker 1: that was my only question, And in the postgame show,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I started off not trying to complement the defense, but
- 3:47Speaker 1: just saying, at least with the turnover near the end
- 3:50Speaker 1: of the first half and the stop that they got
- 3:52Speaker 1: there early on. I mean, I just thought the door
- 3:54Speaker 1: was briefly open. Was just curious what it might have
- 3:57Speaker 1: looked like had the Patriots offense scored a touch down
- 4:00Speaker 1: there at the end of the first half, or you know,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I just put them in some kind of position they
- 4:04Speaker 1: have to actually make a play. They never really were.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I mean, I repeat myself a lot when I talk
- 4:08Speaker 1: about it. You know, I just remember when Parcels was
- 4:10Speaker 1: here and him, you know, saying, each side of the
- 4:13Speaker 1: ball gives the other side hope. You know, the defense
- 4:15Speaker 1: when it gives the offense hope. And you know, the
- 4:18Speaker 1: offense really wasn't giving the defense much hope there. But
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, like you said, at the end of that half,
- 4:25Speaker 1: if they use the clock right and they can at
- 4:27Speaker 1: least make it seventeen ten, you know, a one touchdown game,
- 4:31Speaker 1: you know, momentum. Yeah, now you go into the second
- 4:33Speaker 1: half and you know, maybe the defense you know, responds
- 4:37Speaker 1: and you know, but I know probably, Yeah, it's tough
- 4:40Speaker 1: to sell yourself on it, but I mean it is.
- 4:43Speaker 1: The door was open a little bit, and you just,
- 4:45Speaker 1: you know, at the same time, you feel like I've
- 4:46Speaker 1: been watching this movie for this season, certainly going back
- 4:49Speaker 1: the last couple of seasons, similar performances. I think at
- 4:52Speaker 1: a certain point you just kind of became resigned to
- 4:54Speaker 1: this is what it is. They're not gonna have, you know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: they're not gonna be able to claw their way back
- 4:57Speaker 1: into this game. And I don't want to say that,
- 4:59Speaker 1: Josh Allen, the Bills were just kind of like you know,
- 5:01Speaker 1: boardcats with the plaything, just kind of batting it around.
- 5:03Speaker 1: But it didn't feel too far off of that, you know.
- 5:07Speaker 1: So I think the news then coming out is really
- 5:10Speaker 1: kind of the reaction after the game, particularly from the
- 5:13Speaker 1: head coach Bill you know, he I you know, the
- 5:16Speaker 1: media as some point blank, you know, you know, are
- 5:20Speaker 1: you open to making changes? And Bill said, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 1: at this point in the season, it really you know,
- 5:24Speaker 1: big changes. Really, you know, it's not gonna do much
- 5:28Speaker 1: at this point, but he didn't say no, you know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: so it's left people open to talking about, like what
- 5:37Speaker 1: happens after the season. You know, what are the changes now?
- 5:40Speaker 1: I said before the game, I made the prediction that
- 5:43Speaker 1: there will be a shake up on the offensive side
- 5:46Speaker 1: of the ball and when it comes to coaching. And
- 5:48Speaker 1: I still believe that even more now. I don't know
- 5:51Speaker 1: how there can't be I mean, I don't think we're
- 5:53Speaker 1: gonna learn anything over these last five games that's going
- 5:55Speaker 1: to change everything that's happened before that. But how do
- 5:59Speaker 1: you tell anybody on it? I mean, it's you know,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and I know Bill recently has done the thing where
- 6:04Speaker 1: he suddenly pulls out stats to back up like we're
- 6:06Speaker 1: not that bad. But it's just I mean, going through
- 6:08Speaker 1: the stats today, it's they're a bad offense. They're a
- 6:11Speaker 1: bad offense. They cannot produce, they can't score in the
- 6:14Speaker 1: red zone. I mean, just that played by Marcus Jones
- 6:17Speaker 1: was such a an exciting moment in a way, but
- 6:20Speaker 1: also just so striking to me of oh my gosh,
- 6:23Speaker 1: look it's a Patriot running untouched down the field. I mean,
- 6:27Speaker 1: you've just seen explosive plays like that, and you know,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I don't know if getting Marcus Jones more involved in
- 6:31Speaker 1: offense is going to move the needle enough, but I
- 6:33Speaker 1: think it's just, you know, goes to show you how
- 6:36Speaker 1: there's just been a complete lack of those kind of
- 6:38Speaker 1: explosive players that can just change the game in an instant.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And that was that was one thing from the game
- 6:44Speaker 1: that felt kind of novel and kind of exciting, and
- 6:46Speaker 1: after that it was kind of back to more. Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I mean I know that Marcus Jones I think he
- 6:50Speaker 1: had like fifteen plays in college on offense or something
- 6:53Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, but I always say that if you
- 6:56Speaker 1: can play offense, you play offense. So for some reason
- 6:58Speaker 1: in college he didn't play offense. I don't know if
- 7:00Speaker 1: it's because he didn't have the hands for it or what. Yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 1: but he certainly has the speed and quickness. You know,
- 7:08Speaker 1: people on the blog when he made that play were
- 7:11Speaker 1: immediately comparing him to Tyreek Hill. He looked, I mean
- 7:13Speaker 1: the same sound of kind of size. I mean, maybe
- 7:16Speaker 1: not quite the same speed, but I saw and I said,
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's not a fair comparison because Hill doesn't play defense, right, Like,
- 7:24Speaker 1: he does have that physical look to him. But I'm
- 7:29Speaker 1: just wondering what kept him from being a full time
- 7:31Speaker 1: offensive player in college, because, like I said, if I'm
- 7:34Speaker 1: a college coach and I got a guy who can
- 7:36Speaker 1: be that guy he's playing offense, I might say, I'm
- 7:38Speaker 1: not holding him back and play him play defense. So
- 7:41Speaker 1: there was some reason why he didn't play offense on
- 7:45Speaker 1: a regular basis. Yeah, that's just why I love that
- 7:47Speaker 1: play because it wasn't about scheme, it wasn't about It
- 7:50Speaker 1: was just simply putting the ball in the hands of
- 7:52Speaker 1: a playmaker and letting him out run people. And I
- 7:55Speaker 1: think going forward, that's a thing that they need to
- 7:58Speaker 1: continue to try to find and add to this roster
- 8:00Speaker 1: because you know, as much as you gets sold on
- 8:02Speaker 1: Taekwon Thornton's speed, it's it's different and they haven't been
- 8:05Speaker 1: able to crack him yet in terms of, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: crack the code and unlock him, so to speak. I
- 8:09Speaker 1: still have some hope with him. But the Thornton's fast,
- 8:13Speaker 1: but he doesn't seem shifty, you know, and they need
- 8:16Speaker 1: to get him in a a position where he catches the
- 8:17Speaker 1: ball and has some space to run a little that's
- 8:19Speaker 1: the thing he needs the space. Yeah, yeah, that's it's
- 8:21Speaker 1: so much of what we've seen even with their current receivers,
- 8:24Speaker 1: where you know, they catch the ball and they get
- 8:25Speaker 1: drilled one yard later, and you know, there's not really
- 8:27Speaker 1: a lot of opportunity for to create explosive plays with
- 8:31Speaker 1: that speed. So, you know, I think we're slowly working
- 8:33Speaker 1: our way back to overall the design of the offense
- 8:36Speaker 1: and how they're incorporating guys. But yeah, so like you know,
- 8:40Speaker 1: at the very least, Patricia remains, you know, play caller,
- 8:46Speaker 1: but they relieve him of his offensive line duties. But
- 8:50Speaker 1: I think it's going to be the other way. I
- 8:52Speaker 1: think they're gonna bring somebody in. Ya. You know, the
- 8:55Speaker 1: question is like what does that do to Mac? Does
- 8:57Speaker 1: that person coming in? Are there enough changes where now
- 9:01Speaker 1: it's another new offense and another voice in Mac's head? Um,
- 9:07Speaker 1: I'm at the point now I don't even care. I mean,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I totally get the point of the third offense in
- 9:12Speaker 1: three years, and isn't this how you break quarterbacks? But
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's been so nonfunctional this year that we just need
- 9:18Speaker 1: to get Mac back on with the party, you know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and to believe and you know, if you can get
- 9:22Speaker 1: a guy in in February and he's starting to work
- 9:24Speaker 1: with Mac and instead of you know, all these things
- 9:26Speaker 1: that we heard about, Mac isn't sure about the direction
- 9:28Speaker 1: of offense. Instead, he's on board from the get go,
- 9:30Speaker 1: starting in February, he's able to then you know, pass
- 9:33Speaker 1: that on too, whichever receivers are back or added. You know.
- 9:36Speaker 1: But I just think it's been so dreadful this year
- 9:39Speaker 1: that you can't try to build off of this. You know, what,
- 9:43Speaker 1: what do you what do you try to build up?
- 9:44Speaker 1: There's nothing to build off of. I thought it was
- 9:46Speaker 1: interesting the miche Lamarti quote, which I mean he obviously
- 9:48Speaker 1: didn't steal it from us, but we said it on
- 9:49Speaker 1: the show, was it doesn't feel like they're running an offense.
- 9:52Speaker 1: They're just kind of running plays to play, and you know,
- 9:54Speaker 1: that's what it is now with them. So I think
- 9:57Speaker 1: they need to find an offense and find some core
- 9:59Speaker 1: things that they can actually do consistently and that they
- 10:02Speaker 1: believe in, and then I think there'll be some confidence inspired.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But I just I mean, you mentioned how both sides
- 10:07Speaker 1: give each other hope. I mean, I just wonder how
- 10:09Speaker 1: much hope they're even giving themselves at this point in
- 10:12Speaker 1: terms of, you know, our guys really starting to get frustrated.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I mean think you saw the frustration overflowing numerous places
- 10:19Speaker 1: in the locker room after that game, and I really
- 10:22Speaker 1: wonder how it's going to play out. I think you
- 10:25Speaker 1: can win this game this week against Arizona, but if
- 10:27Speaker 1: they don't get it, I really wonder how much they
- 10:29Speaker 1: have an ability to bounce back from it. The other
- 10:31Speaker 1: sort of narrative that came out of the game. For
- 10:34Speaker 1: the most part, the voices have been full throat in
- 10:39Speaker 1: it's not Mac. You know. Now, there are some people
- 10:41Speaker 1: that say, you know, Max's part of the problem, so
- 10:44Speaker 1: on and so forth. But I've heard a lot of
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's not Mac, it's Patricia, it's the offense as a whole,
- 10:51Speaker 1: it's the offensive line. But there's been a lot of
- 10:55Speaker 1: from what at least you know, the echo chambers that
- 10:58Speaker 1: I've been in, I've heard a lot of defense of
- 11:02Speaker 1: Mac this week. Yeah, just to say this real quick,
- 11:05Speaker 1: Ian Rappaport, Titans fired John Robinson really used to be here? Why? Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I mean, I I of all the teams that have
- 11:15Speaker 1: done a pretty good job managing injuries and staying atop
- 11:19Speaker 1: the AFC. I mean, I know they're in a little
- 11:20Speaker 1: bit of a slump right now, but I find that
- 11:23Speaker 1: very surprising. Yeah, they saw what aj Brown did against them.
- 11:27Speaker 1: They're like, this guy was supposed to be on our team.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I mean, that would be it, right, that would be
- 11:30Speaker 1: uh the heck paulse here, I'm curious is Paul John
- 11:33Speaker 1: Robinson just got fired. I'll let you process that while
- 11:35Speaker 1: you're getting to your to your microphone too. I famously
- 11:39Speaker 1: um almost kicked him out of the press box, remember that.
- 11:42Speaker 1: But anyway, we'll get into that later. Evans here and Tamara,
- 11:45Speaker 1: they're back from practice. Um, ladies and gents, what do
- 11:48Speaker 1: we have? And Tamara and tomorrow? And maybe you can
- 12:05Speaker 1: hits Merit with the mood question, which she's got in
- 12:08Speaker 1: the bag. So what do we got? So I'm going
- 12:09Speaker 1: to preface this by saying that today is an extra day,
- 12:14Speaker 1: right because they don't play till Monday night. Today is
- 12:17Speaker 1: an extra practice for the Patriots. They all said three
- 12:21Speaker 1: games in twelve days. And there's also no injury report.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I want to look, but I'm just gonna wait and
- 12:26Speaker 1: listen for you until Thursday. So I throw that out
- 12:30Speaker 1: there because half the starting lineup was just missing from practice. Yeah,
- 12:35Speaker 1: there's almost not enough characters to even tweet who wasn't it?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Is that right? So it was just like an optional
- 12:41Speaker 1: day or something on their party. Just quit. I will
- 12:44Speaker 1: read you know, because there's no practice tomorrow. Jalen Mills.
- 12:49Speaker 1: These are the guys that were not spotted, by the way,
- 12:52Speaker 1: Jalen Mills, Jabrill Peppers, Jakobe Meyers, Damien Harris, Mike on one,
- 12:57Speaker 1: Isaiah Wyn, Trent Brown off there at the squad. No
- 13:01Speaker 1: Garrett Gilbert, no Jamie Collins. So we have so just
- 13:06Speaker 1: the offensive Linen, just real quick. When you's the only
- 13:09Speaker 1: one that didn't that doesn't have that, I can't give
- 13:12Speaker 1: you right away a reason, right, yes, all the other
- 13:15Speaker 1: all the rest of those guys, I well, you know
- 13:17Speaker 1: Byers got hit in ahead. It's probably in concussion protocol.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Brown was sick, Peppers was sick late last week, so
- 13:24Speaker 1: they would all have yeah, Damian Harris, thigh and that
- 13:30Speaker 1: that's I was thinking I was going to feel better
- 13:33Speaker 1: about it. Yeah, but then when you give me all
- 13:35Speaker 1: the names, I'm like, oh yeah, yeah, I was thinking
- 13:38Speaker 1: there would be guys there that were just veteran day whatever.
- 13:41Speaker 1: But these are all guys that had injuries except for
- 13:45Speaker 1: a win. You, I don't know anything about him, so
- 13:47Speaker 1: maybe he suffered something in the game. Yeah, Yeah, I
- 13:49Speaker 1: wonder if that illness or is going around, Yeah a
- 13:52Speaker 1: little bit. Yeah. And Trent Brown I had. I had
- 13:55Speaker 1: talked to him after the game, just briefly, and he's
- 13:58Speaker 1: been really dealing with something with that illness. He called
- 14:02Speaker 1: it the flu. It's he said it it's coming going right,
- 14:05Speaker 1: like you know, one day he feels like he's he's
- 14:07Speaker 1: backed almost one hundred percent. The next day he can't
- 14:09Speaker 1: get out of bed. Yeah, it's really knocked him out completely.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And I know that he was somebody I bring it
- 14:15Speaker 1: up because he was somebody that I think a lot
- 14:16Speaker 1: of people thought played poorly against Buffalo and yeah, and
- 14:19Speaker 1: they'd play poorly. It's around the league. It's everywhere. There's
- 14:23Speaker 1: something going. Like I had it and I tested for COVID.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I was negative, but I had some type of head cold.
- 14:30Speaker 1: It's still like still my ears and I didn't excuse
- 14:33Speaker 1: it how bad you were on the show. My friend
- 14:36Speaker 1: had it and she got tested for COVID, went to
- 14:38Speaker 1: the emergency room. She got tested for flu. And strap
- 14:40Speaker 1: all negative and she was like, I don't know what
- 14:42Speaker 1: it is, but it took three weeks to go. Yeah,
- 14:44Speaker 1: something going around. Yeah. His exact words to me were,
- 14:48Speaker 1: it is kicking my bleep, so but it's yeah but
- 14:52Speaker 1: face face like that. Yeah, yeah, Mike. Mike said the
- 14:56Speaker 1: same thing to Shape after this. So knowing that does
- 14:59Speaker 1: Trent for I don't get a little gold star from
- 15:01Speaker 1: get for going out there Thursday night. I'm being serious.
- 15:04Speaker 1: A couple of years ago he gave Marcus Cannon a
- 15:06Speaker 1: gold star for playing sick, and I remember that, and
- 15:09Speaker 1: I also remember that Cannon played a lot better than
- 15:11Speaker 1: Trent Brown did. Yeah, I think he gets props for
- 15:14Speaker 1: sucking up going out there, much like I would give
- 15:16Speaker 1: that guy for the bills. Quisenberry. Yeah, you know, high marks.
- 15:20Speaker 1: He didn't play well. I'm not gonna tell you he
- 15:23Speaker 1: gets high marks because he got it. He was awful
- 15:26Speaker 1: in the game. So you're you're not on the josh
- 15:28Speaker 1: Uja has a breakout game train right now, Paul that
- 15:30Speaker 1: I've been reading all about this morning. How josh uche
- 15:32Speaker 1: the last three games against all these backup tackles is
- 15:34Speaker 1: finally reaching his potential. Sorry, I just caught you a
- 15:37Speaker 1: blank blink blink. You don't know what I'm talking about
- 15:41Speaker 1: from you? No, I I just can't believe that anybody would,
- 15:44Speaker 1: like I think I said in the postgame show, that
- 15:47Speaker 1: was a terrific play. That was a really really like
- 15:50Speaker 1: that was DeMarcus ware like, well you sort of duck
- 15:52Speaker 1: under like that was a really good play. What was
- 15:56Speaker 1: the rest of the game. Yeah, sorry, And that guy
- 16:01Speaker 1: by the way fell down a couple of times on
- 16:04Speaker 1: his own, like it was just bad. I thought that
- 16:06Speaker 1: one live and then I said, watched the replay, Yeah,
- 16:08Speaker 1: and I just thought I thought Evan was gonna fall
- 16:11Speaker 1: up the sniper got him from the three hundred. It
- 16:13Speaker 1: was like going back to practice. Um so a lot
- 16:18Speaker 1: of people missing yes pads today or no no, no, okay,
- 16:23Speaker 1: outdoors I assume yes, yeah, outdoor practice. We look I
- 16:28Speaker 1: think that this, like I said when I when I
- 16:30Speaker 1: started talking about practice, this is a bonus day for them,
- 16:34Speaker 1: my practice. And it felt like a that sort of
- 16:39Speaker 1: vibe from Bill this morning the players today that it's
- 16:43Speaker 1: almost like a bye week practice where you sort of
- 16:46Speaker 1: get some details ironed out about yourself, maybe do some
- 16:49Speaker 1: self scout type of things and and go from there.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm wondering though, just from a scheduling, if you're not
- 16:57Speaker 1: going to have them practice tomorrow, why why not have
- 17:01Speaker 1: them not practice today and then have them practice tomorrow.
- 17:05Speaker 1: It's straight through, you know, why have that day in between?
- 17:08Speaker 1: Probably the schedule, right, Like they just are creatures the habit,
- 17:10Speaker 1: and they have stuff to do on these days, and
- 17:12Speaker 1: tomorrow is supposed to be Tuesday, and so all the
- 17:14Speaker 1: coaches are gonna be doing. I mean that's I'm just speculating.
- 17:16Speaker 1: But yeah, today is like Monday. I guess today's, yeah,
- 17:22Speaker 1: the day off, and then it'd be yeah, Wednesday, Thursday,
- 17:26Speaker 1: Friday on, Yeah, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Right. It was a
- 17:29Speaker 1: little confusing this week because we got it. It It was
- 17:31Speaker 1: like five street days of practices and you didn't know
- 17:33Speaker 1: what was going on. They tweaked everything and canceled tomorrow's practice.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I thought, yeah, when that originally came out yesterday, I
- 17:38Speaker 1: was a little getting about. So I guess it's keeping
- 17:42Speaker 1: consistent with what they normally do. Yeah, you should love it.
- 17:45Speaker 1: You love playing around with the days. I don't. Today's
- 17:49Speaker 1: I don't. I think every game Monday. I had to know,
- 17:51Speaker 1: But when when it happens usually like to yeah, you know,
- 17:54Speaker 1: just reiterate what day it really is. Yeah he did,
- 17:57Speaker 1: we did. I don't really like it though. Okay, So
- 18:00Speaker 1: so Johnson got fired, huh. I mean it's all that's
- 18:03Speaker 1: blowing up the Twitter machine right now. People you know
- 18:05Speaker 1: Evan the AJ Brown reference of AJ Brown going off
- 18:08Speaker 1: against them, But I mean that that seems John Robinson
- 18:12Speaker 1: the pots. So as always with these things, I like
- 18:15Speaker 1: to sort of look at it through a bigger lens. Yes,
- 18:19Speaker 1: does that mean anything for Mike Vrabel? Well, well, could
- 18:24Speaker 1: he and Mike Vrabel have been at odds and that's
- 18:27Speaker 1: why he got That would be the the way it
- 18:30Speaker 1: could unfold. That would not benefit anybody else, including the Patriots,
- 18:34Speaker 1: because I think you know sort of that Mike Rabel
- 18:36Speaker 1: to the Patriots thing, like I mean, I don't even
- 18:39Speaker 1: know what I mean, I don't even know what I
- 18:40Speaker 1: would do it. This is Quinn's still the GM there?
- 18:42Speaker 1: Who's the GM in Titans? John Robinson was until about
- 18:45Speaker 1: five like honest like honestly, like sometimes I like, are
- 18:51Speaker 1: you having the flu? No? No, I didn't know that
- 18:54Speaker 1: was his capacity, Like I don't know if he was no, No, Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 1: John Robinson just got relieved of his general manager duties.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Where's Quinn? Now? See what the Falcons probably with somebody,
- 19:04Speaker 1: but he's no longer the GM of the Lions. Now, Okay,
- 19:07Speaker 1: the thing about the John, They're moved to trade AJ
- 19:12Speaker 1: Brown and then just draft Treylon Burke's Who's AJ Brown?
- 19:16Speaker 1: Seventy five percent of a J. Brown is such a
- 19:18Speaker 1: Patriots move it's not even funny. So whether that was
- 19:22Speaker 1: John Robinson making that decision or Mike Rabel and John,
- 19:25Speaker 1: clearly that has Patriots. That is a Patriots The worst
- 19:29Speaker 1: part about it for them is when the kid is
- 19:31Speaker 1: on the field, he looks like he can play. Yeah,
- 19:33Speaker 1: he just hasn't payable to stay on the field. That
- 19:37Speaker 1: was he got blow up. As MT Smith would say,
- 19:40Speaker 1: did you see that big catch by nikkil Harry for
- 19:43Speaker 1: the weekend? I fully expected him to miss the rest
- 19:46Speaker 1: of the season after we brought that ball. You know what,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I might just be like one of those guys like
- 19:51Speaker 1: no matter what happens, like yeah whatever, I'm like. I
- 19:54Speaker 1: immediately thought, how could a guy look so bad on
- 19:56Speaker 1: a forty nine yard catch? Like he goes up like
- 19:59Speaker 1: he's on his bat, like just cope and catch the
- 20:02Speaker 1: ball like everybody else does. He did get shaken up,
- 20:05Speaker 1: but it was a big catch. Yeah. Um okay, So
- 20:10Speaker 1: back to practice. So you're saying that there was court
- 20:12Speaker 1: sort of a bye week mood with the team out there. Yeah,
- 20:16Speaker 1: it's very chill. Yeah, yeah, I just think it's a
- 20:20Speaker 1: today's practice. I think will probably be less about the
- 20:22Speaker 1: Cardinals and more about the Patriots and cleaning up some
- 20:25Speaker 1: of the mess that was a Thursday night yea, and
- 20:29Speaker 1: go from there. Okay, all right, um yeah, good media contingent.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I mean Bill is this morning, so that that always
- 20:39Speaker 1: draws a crowd, whether it's a positive crowd or a
- 20:43Speaker 1: pitchfork crowd, no bemoaning of the West coast travel and
- 20:49Speaker 1: all that. I wonder how many people will be out there.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I was thinking the same thing. I do know that
- 20:54Speaker 1: there's some people committed, but I don't know if they're
- 20:57Speaker 1: committed to just the games. You know, they're going to
- 20:59Speaker 1: fly back and then go back out for Vegas or Yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and I had more just the games as opposed to
- 21:04Speaker 1: the week. But I know now what you're you know, yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 1: but there's definitely some people committed. You guys told me
- 21:09Speaker 1: Minnesota there's also people committed to institutions. There weren't a
- 21:14Speaker 1: lot of people in Minnesota, you said, right, And I
- 21:17Speaker 1: don't know if that was just because it's the road
- 21:19Speaker 1: game in Minnesota, or I had anything to do with Thanksgiving.
- 21:23Speaker 1: But I wonder if they're looking at it like six
- 21:26Speaker 1: and six. Well, the league certainly did. Yeah, are they
- 21:29Speaker 1: flexing out the Patriots? Yeah? But I just wonder how
- 21:32Speaker 1: many of these outlets will be represented in Arizona in Vegas.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Those aren't cheap trips. Yeah, be interesting to see. If
- 21:39Speaker 1: they win in Arizona and the Jets lose to Buffalo,
- 21:42Speaker 1: then technically the Patriots are in the playoffs, right, So
- 21:45Speaker 1: and maybe they all fly out for Vegas, and Josh,
- 21:48Speaker 1: that's the thing, the whole You'll see no one at Arizona,
- 21:50Speaker 1: but they'll all be there for Vegas. Right. I think
- 21:53Speaker 1: I think there'll be a good contingent in Vegas because
- 21:55Speaker 1: you also have the Josh angle of its Vegas. Yeah
- 21:57Speaker 1: and Vegas. Baby. I mean I was going to say
- 21:59Speaker 1: that in and out right, that that that's why people
- 22:03Speaker 1: in and out in Arizona. That's probably true. All right,
- 22:07Speaker 1: fair enough, fair enough, We're all going to Vegas for
- 22:09Speaker 1: in and out. I really call me crazy, but I don't.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I'm not the like high on Vegas. I don't think
- 22:16Speaker 1: it's like probably my least favorite places to go. Welcome
- 22:19Speaker 1: to middle age. Why is that? I just it's just
- 22:22Speaker 1: do I way too young to take. I think Miami's
- 22:26Speaker 1: better than too over the top. It's too over the
- 22:28Speaker 1: top thing like do you think Vegas is too much?
- 22:30Speaker 1: But Miami no is not. But listen hear me out.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Hear me out being at the swimming pool and seeing
- 22:36Speaker 1: women in like heels and like full face of makeup
- 22:39Speaker 1: and just fully dressed. I'm like that in Miami though
- 22:43Speaker 1: too right, not so much. No, I'm not. I'm not
- 22:46Speaker 1: hanging out too much at the pools when we go
- 22:48Speaker 1: to Vegas and you know, and I think that's another
- 22:50Speaker 1: It's like, I'm not a gambler. I'm out in the
- 22:52Speaker 1: casino like I've never done any of that. Yeah. I
- 22:54Speaker 1: think I think of vacation spots I need like water, beach, Yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 1: that's true, relaxation. Been much shopping? Are you went to shopping? Yeah?
- 23:03Speaker 1: But how about gambling? She's not at the game. I'm
- 23:06Speaker 1: just kidding. Dinner dancing, it was fun. Short doses. I
- 23:12Speaker 1: would Yeah, I'm with Fred, I really would enjoy Vegas,
- 23:15Speaker 1: but a couple of days I'd be like, Okay, I
- 23:17Speaker 1: gotta get Yeah, training camp in Vegas was a little
- 23:19Speaker 1: bit much by the time that you were the wild
- 23:22Speaker 1: men out there. By the time the game rolled around,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I was ready to go home, especially because it was
- 23:27Speaker 1: a preseason game. On Trent Brown. Yeah. When when Trent
- 23:31Speaker 1: Brown tweeted that, I was like, one, Trent, Yes, Like
- 23:34Speaker 1: can we just get this game over with and let's
- 23:36Speaker 1: get let's get update one John Robinson if anyone cares it,
- 23:42Speaker 1: says Titans owner Amy Adams. She said in a statement
- 23:46Speaker 1: on the website, There's more to be done and higher
- 23:48Speaker 1: aspirations to be met. I'm just surprised, I thought, I mean,
- 23:52Speaker 1: I said at the top, I just think the Titans
- 23:53Speaker 1: have done a good job last few years. They've had
- 23:55Speaker 1: six you know, I mean, Ryan, get your fire. It's
- 23:59Speaker 1: I mean, we talk how tight the how tight it
- 24:02Speaker 1: is just to like base your team on Derrick Henry
- 24:04Speaker 1: and he goes out and all of a sudden, you're
- 24:05Speaker 1: you're you're kind of searching for answers. But they've done
- 24:07Speaker 1: it really well. Whatever that happens, you wonder is there
- 24:10Speaker 1: the power struggle between the head coach and the gene.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I think that's did the head coach win? That's sort
- 24:14Speaker 1: of the things that have trickled out about A. J.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Brown is that that trade was more a John Robinson
- 24:19Speaker 1: trade than it was Mirabel trade. I think I think
- 24:22Speaker 1: Fred probably has it. I think that's probably right. You
- 24:25Speaker 1: know what you guys are talking about in terms of
- 24:28Speaker 1: a power struggle. I would also, as he is on
- 24:31Speaker 1: the screen over there, I would also mention that, oh,
- 24:35Speaker 1: I believe that Mike Vrabel knows that there's a ceiling
- 24:38Speaker 1: with Ryan Tannehill that they have hit over the last
- 24:42Speaker 1: I think to Mike's point that he just brought, like
- 24:44Speaker 1: how much further can this Derrick Henry lead team go?
- 24:47Speaker 1: This is it? And I think a lot of people
- 24:49Speaker 1: thought they were going to fall off a cliff this year. Well,
- 24:52Speaker 1: it looks like they're going to be good enough to
- 24:53Speaker 1: win a bad division, but they're not going What are
- 24:55Speaker 1: Henry Stat's last three games? I heard they're not that good.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I's been held and check. I don't know exactly off
- 25:01Speaker 1: the top of my head, but all I know is
- 25:03Speaker 1: is that the guy that was on the screen was
- 25:04Speaker 1: obviously Tom Brady last night. It's hard to imagine that
- 25:11Speaker 1: Vrabel didn't want Brady a couple of years ago. Real quick,
- 25:14Speaker 1: do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I
- 25:16Speaker 1: was like going through that thing about some guys just
- 25:19Speaker 1: have that that thing where things that they don't have
- 25:22Speaker 1: anything to do with just always seem to work out
- 25:25Speaker 1: for them. The last eight minutes of that game was
- 25:27Speaker 1: the epitome of Tom Brady, Like good things just happened
- 25:31Speaker 1: to that guy. Yeah, And everything that the Saints could
- 25:34Speaker 1: do wrong in the last eight minutes that had nothing
- 25:37Speaker 1: to do with Brady, the Saints did. And much like
- 25:41Speaker 1: like the twenty eight to three game, if any of
- 25:43Speaker 1: them went a different way, they lose, like literally any
- 25:47Speaker 1: of them from I'm going to kick a field goal
- 25:51Speaker 1: up ten on fourth and like a yard and a
- 25:53Speaker 1: half instead of trying to make it a three score game,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I'm just going to continue to make it a two
- 25:57Speaker 1: score game, which meaningless, ten and thirteen meaningless. The next
- 26:01Speaker 1: time they get the ball third and one, thirteen and
- 26:06Speaker 1: they can't convert it, what did they do? Thank you,
- 26:10Speaker 1: thank you Evan for watching, because I know no one
- 26:12Speaker 1: else did I turned it. I turned it on because
- 26:16Speaker 1: I knew that he was going to come back. I
- 26:17Speaker 1: did too. Oh, I know it was coming in. I
- 26:19Speaker 1: have Evans and Godwins. I was like, oh, this is great.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna benefit. Then I didn't benefit, but anyway almost did.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Godwin's cut touchdown? Yeah cost me to win? Whatever? Um
- 26:28Speaker 1: so on that. On the drive before that, the first
- 26:31Speaker 1: scoring drive, the Saints are completely blanketing him the all night.
- 26:34Speaker 1: They're playing like you know, too deep that like the
- 26:37Speaker 1: Mannings were talking about the quarters coverage, and all of
- 26:40Speaker 1: a sudden they go single high. Mike Evins runs right
- 26:42Speaker 1: by the guy wide open. They have to interfere with
- 26:45Speaker 1: him at like the three yard line, easy touchdown, so
- 26:48Speaker 1: it allows him to get like fifty yards on one play.
- 26:51Speaker 1: They had over three minutes before when they scored the
- 26:53Speaker 1: first touchdown. Still do you need that three and out?
- 26:56Speaker 1: Was there aids out they were going to get a
- 26:58Speaker 1: three and out? Heaven? Was there any doubt? Was that
- 27:01Speaker 1: the ingram one where I don't think that. I don't
- 27:04Speaker 1: think the Bucks forced to three and out all game,
- 27:08Speaker 1: But I would have been anything that I had in
- 27:10Speaker 1: my possession that they would have a three and out
- 27:12Speaker 1: right down to Taysom Hill dropping that pass down the scene. Now,
- 27:15Speaker 1: I don't put it on Tastom Hill. You gets throw
- 27:16Speaker 1: like a twenty five yard scene route to a quarterback,
- 27:19Speaker 1: you're probably gonna get you know, have a hard time
- 27:21Speaker 1: completing that one. But they didn't. They took no time
- 27:24Speaker 1: off the clock at all. And then to top it
- 27:26Speaker 1: all off, the Bucks went right down the field and
- 27:29Speaker 1: Dennis Alle just stood there and said, I don't think
- 27:32Speaker 1: I'll need just I don't think I'll need any of
- 27:33Speaker 1: those time outs here that they had a whole three
- 27:35Speaker 1: seconds left when the TA was over answer in the tank.
- 27:39Speaker 1: It was unbelievable. Am I wrong? Did I just any?
- 27:42Speaker 1: And I as I was watching this, my first reaction
- 27:46Speaker 1: to when he threw the touchdown to Rashad wife or
- 27:49Speaker 1: the game winner, for my first reaction was like he
- 27:51Speaker 1: how does he do this? Like? How does he do
- 27:53Speaker 1: this every single time? Then my second reaction is since
- 27:57Speaker 1: he left, we can't do this right, Like we like
- 27:59Speaker 1: that drive that he put together at the end of
- 28:01Speaker 1: the game that doesn't exist here anymore, Like you can't
- 28:05Speaker 1: you just can't do that now. The most amazing part
- 28:08Speaker 1: of him capping the comeback was that. I was like, yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 1: that's pretty much exactly what I thought was going to happen.
- 28:18Speaker 1: And that was my reaction. It was a lot of
- 28:19Speaker 1: other people's reaction too. It's just a credit to just
- 28:22Speaker 1: how I mean, I thought Troy Aikman was great at
- 28:24Speaker 1: the game. He's like, you know that he is the
- 28:26Speaker 1: best that's ever. It's just so cold blooded in those situations.
- 28:29Speaker 1: And he's throwing to like a washed Julio Jones. It's
- 28:32Speaker 1: a rookie running back out of the backfield sport. He's
- 28:35Speaker 1: I agree, a washed l Jones. And suddenly it looked
- 28:37Speaker 1: like the Super Bowl. That was a great catch. Yeah,
- 28:39Speaker 1: And you're just it's funny because now I see people like, oh,
- 28:42Speaker 1: they're about to get Tom bradyed, and I'm like, wow,
- 28:45Speaker 1: I've coined tom Brady. Yeah, to get Tom Brady. Imagine
- 28:49Speaker 1: how bad they would be that team, Like that's twice
- 28:53Speaker 1: he's done that. Yea with the Rams and the Saints,
- 28:56Speaker 1: Like that team is just in disarray. It's amazing that
- 29:00Speaker 1: how difficult it is for them to score points. Yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 1: you know, no offense. Yeah, they can't run the ball
- 29:05Speaker 1: and they can't protect the passer. So he does it again. Um,
- 29:09Speaker 1: and that makes Patriots fans even more miserable, doesn't I think?
- 29:13Speaker 1: So it doesn't bother you as much, doesn't make you
- 29:16Speaker 1: more miserable. Patan, Well, I mean, but I'm also a
- 29:20Speaker 1: Tom Brady fan, right, Yeah, So that's what I'm saying.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You think it really makes everybody more? He just well,
- 29:25Speaker 1: you yearn for the days of your Okay, it doesn't.
- 29:34Speaker 1: The first season, I hated it. I hated watching him
- 29:36Speaker 1: play for another team. It was like kill my soul
- 29:39Speaker 1: every time I could see him in a bed. But
- 29:40Speaker 1: I've gotten used to it now, and I think I've
- 29:42Speaker 1: reached a point, at least now where I just kind
- 29:44Speaker 1: of appreciate that he continues to do. Appreciate it. Now
- 29:48Speaker 1: I don't appreciate it, but I think at this point
- 29:51Speaker 1: I do look at it, and I keep reminding myself
- 29:54Speaker 1: to degree that even if you was still here, I
- 29:57Speaker 1: think it would obviously be better because he would carry
- 30:00Speaker 1: the team like he did last night in certain games.
- 30:02Speaker 1: But they're so dysfunctional in so many different areas that
- 30:06Speaker 1: would see this is where you're missing. Is it nineteen?
- 30:09Speaker 1: It's nineteen. He wouldn't allow it. He would not allow
- 30:12Speaker 1: it to be dysfunction. It would be like nineteen. Yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 1: it would be like it wouldn't be it would be better.
- 30:17Speaker 1: It would be what do you know what they did
- 30:18Speaker 1: in nineteen They were twelve and four? Yea, it would
- 30:21Speaker 1: be better than that. This this team would be better
- 30:23Speaker 1: than twelve and the offense would be better. Yes. Do
- 30:26Speaker 1: you think if you put him, why isn't the Bucks
- 30:28Speaker 1: offense better than? Just out of curious, do you think
- 30:32Speaker 1: that if Tom Brady was so for example, all the
- 30:35Speaker 1: floating rumors about him coming back for his last year,
- 30:37Speaker 1: if you think he put him in this situation right now,
- 30:40Speaker 1: keeping everything as it is with Matt Patricia calling the plays,
- 30:43Speaker 1: that it would be better. I'm saying that if Tom
- 30:46Speaker 1: was here, probably Matt Patricia wouldn't be calling the plays.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Let's put it that way. That's that's fair, and I
- 30:52Speaker 1: think that is fairer what that guy looking at my office,
- 30:58Speaker 1: he would allow this from the get go to have happened, right,
- 31:03Speaker 1: and he would have to make that's fair. I also
- 31:05Speaker 1: think that there's another element of it too, where I
- 31:09Speaker 1: saw last night that OBJ was at the MAV's Sons
- 31:12Speaker 1: game and they're all according him to Dallas I think
- 31:15Speaker 1: you might get a meeting with OBJ if he's still here, right,
- 31:17Speaker 1: like if you have Brady and building together. I think
- 31:20Speaker 1: I think OBJ loves Belichian, right, and I think he
- 31:23Speaker 1: loves Brady too, the quarterback that he yeah, he wants
- 31:25Speaker 1: to go somewhere. We're just going to get the ball, right,
- 31:27Speaker 1: So I think that there's that element of it too,
- 31:30Speaker 1: where he gets Julio Jones, who I just mentioned. I
- 31:34Speaker 1: think Julio Jones is pretty much washed, but it's a
- 31:37Speaker 1: name brand receiver. Maybe OBJ takes a meeting here. Now
- 31:41Speaker 1: you can't even get a meeting with him, So I
- 31:43Speaker 1: think that there is an attraction that he brings that
- 31:45Speaker 1: maybe he could bring in some other people. But I
- 31:48Speaker 1: just I'm wary of the fact that the team would
- 31:50Speaker 1: be a super Bowl contender simply because they dropped Brady back.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I don't think they'd be a super Bowl contender, but
- 31:56Speaker 1: I think that the record would be a lot better
- 31:58Speaker 1: than of course, of course, yeah, all right, well that's
- 32:02Speaker 1: to Fred's point. I think the offense would look better,
- 32:04Speaker 1: but I didn't even bring in the variable of Patricia
- 32:07Speaker 1: wouldn't even be the cord enough, Tom would be. You'd
- 32:10Speaker 1: rather not have anybody right, like you just dumb, I
- 32:14Speaker 1: got this, don't worry about it. It's It's funny though,
- 32:17Speaker 1: the way Tom runs that offense is he does really
- 32:20Speaker 1: depend on the sleeve, you know, like it's not all
- 32:24Speaker 1: but it does flat. It doesn't flat though, but it's
- 32:26Speaker 1: not all up in his head. Like he really does
- 32:29Speaker 1: use that sleeve, I think more than when he was
- 32:31Speaker 1: here within New England. Yeah, you know, I curious how
- 32:35Speaker 1: things have changed for him over the few years in Tampa.
- 32:37Speaker 1: You know, just how he's offensively playlists that he likes things.
- 32:40Speaker 1: You know, How's how's the change just being in another
- 32:42Speaker 1: offense for a few years and you know, not being
- 32:44Speaker 1: away from Josh. I mean there's probably some interesting and
- 32:46Speaker 1: to you a point, like I think the biggest problem
- 32:48Speaker 1: for them this year and I'm obviously way outside looking in,
- 32:52Speaker 1: but I think it's it's him and all that he's been. Like,
- 32:56Speaker 1: I don't think he put anywhere near the time to
- 32:58Speaker 1: prepare for the season that he normally does. And obviously
- 33:01Speaker 1: now we know why. Yeah, you know when he just
- 33:03Speaker 1: like leaves training camp for eleven days, you think he
- 33:06Speaker 1: wanted to do that. Like, I think the biggest part
- 33:09Speaker 1: of The problem with that offense right now is he's
- 33:11Speaker 1: not quite as sharp as he normally is. And he
- 33:14Speaker 1: overcomes all these things like they still have good wide
- 33:17Speaker 1: receivers even though like it's a washed Julio Jones. He
- 33:20Speaker 1: is like the third guy, third, a fourth guy. Um
- 33:23Speaker 1: they have been like Evans. They just doesn't Byron Left,
- 33:27Speaker 1: which is also on the radar of or is he
- 33:31Speaker 1: really any good? Because Brady calls the two minute offense himself,
- 33:36Speaker 1: and that's the only time they moved the ball, and
- 33:38Speaker 1: that's the only time they moved the ball. So he
- 33:41Speaker 1: when they get to the line of scrimmage at the
- 33:43Speaker 1: two minute offense, Tom is calling the plays and all
- 33:45Speaker 1: of a sudden their offense comes to life. And then
- 33:48Speaker 1: when they when they're in the other three and a
- 33:49Speaker 1: half quarters of the game, they can't move the ball.
- 33:52Speaker 1: It was fascinating to watch that. Did you watch any
- 33:55Speaker 1: of the manning thing last night? Um? So, Randy Moss
- 33:58Speaker 1: was on UM and he's told the story about UM
- 34:04Speaker 1: secretly meeting with the Patriots and O six at the
- 34:06Speaker 1: Minnesota Monday night game. You've heard trapes of that. S
- 34:12Speaker 1: So he that was the year before. Obviously they traded
- 34:15Speaker 1: for him, and he has told the story of the
- 34:18Speaker 1: Patriots are playing on Monday night in Minnesota. He went
- 34:20Speaker 1: to the hotel and he went in. I think he
- 34:22Speaker 1: met with Brady. Yeah, Doug Gabriel told him how great
- 34:25Speaker 1: the offense Wasn't you already knew that part of it? Yeah, Oh,
- 34:27Speaker 1: I just learned that it was recent. It was recent.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I thought we talked about it though. No, I definitely
- 34:31Speaker 1: know the story of him meeting I did. He credited
- 34:34Speaker 1: all the credit last night Randy Moss gave to Doug
- 34:37Speaker 1: Gabriel for when he was here in oh six. He
- 34:40Speaker 1: told him what a great facility and the structure of
- 34:43Speaker 1: the organization and how they have the whole program is
- 34:46Speaker 1: set up and this is a perfect place to play,
- 34:48Speaker 1: which I thought was really funny given the way it
- 34:50Speaker 1: sort of ended for Doug Gabriel. I think he was
- 34:53Speaker 1: a guy who was unreliable and they had to cut him,
- 34:56Speaker 1: like they got him in the middle, like you're desperate
- 34:59Speaker 1: for somebody, and he made some place when he was
- 35:01Speaker 1: here and they had to get rid of him because
- 35:03Speaker 1: I don't think that they felt like he was reliable
- 35:05Speaker 1: and this this guy was the one who's selling Randy
- 35:07Speaker 1: Moss on it. I thought that was past. Came out
- 35:09Speaker 1: at some other point in the last year, Paul, I'm
- 35:12Speaker 1: forgetting what but some kind of video. It was just
- 35:14Speaker 1: the duck Gabriel Park that I wasn't a kind of
- 35:16Speaker 1: the rest of it. I had known. I'm pissed. I'm
- 35:18Speaker 1: blanking on all this because it was a whole story
- 35:20Speaker 1: that came out. It's just how the whole courtship went
- 35:22Speaker 1: and really interested going in Minnesota, somebody one of the
- 35:24Speaker 1: colors they've been over. So Randy Moss said, you know,
- 35:27Speaker 1: it was funny because Eli goes, uh, yeah, you know,
- 35:30Speaker 1: and they call him Moss. You know, everybody calls Randy Moss.
- 35:33Speaker 1: They just called him Moss. They go, yeah, Moss. Uh.
- 35:35Speaker 1: You know, Eli still wants to know, he goes, Eli says,
- 35:38Speaker 1: he goes, p pat still wants to know if maybe
- 35:40Speaker 1: you can tell that story to see if you can
- 35:42Speaker 1: get the Patriots charged with tampering. And it was kind
- 35:45Speaker 1: of funny, but they sort of they talked to him like, so,
- 35:49Speaker 1: how did you do it? Like how did you like,
- 35:50Speaker 1: you just went to the hotel, and he said he
- 35:53Speaker 1: went into the hotel, he had like a hoodie, put
- 35:55Speaker 1: the hood up and he went through the backstairs. He
- 35:57Speaker 1: went up with like fifteen flights of stairs. He said, wow,
- 36:00Speaker 1: to get to flew right up in my bed to
- 36:03Speaker 1: get to the brady. Um. I thought it was really
- 36:06Speaker 1: be fair him going up fifteen fights star, not like
- 36:08Speaker 1: me doing Yeah, it's probably like a normal person going
- 36:10Speaker 1: up like three right, yeah, not like me doing it
- 36:12Speaker 1: where I would have had a stop at like flight eight.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yet feeling back in my quads. I think he also
- 36:18Speaker 1: mentioned last night I saw it somewhere on the tweet
- 36:20Speaker 1: machine that he had an opportunity to return to New
- 36:22Speaker 1: England near the end before he retired. I did not
- 36:25Speaker 1: see that, which but I wasn't like watching it intently.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I was going back and forth to some different like
- 36:30Speaker 1: the Bruins were on, you know, Bruins are very entertainment
- 36:33Speaker 1: game on their way back in. Were you there? Did
- 36:35Speaker 1: you do these last night? Bruce got a little emotional
- 36:40Speaker 1: playing team please. It was a really I mean, it
- 36:44Speaker 1: was a regular season game, which is meaningless in the
- 36:46Speaker 1: grand scheme of things, but it was really entertaining regular
- 36:49Speaker 1: season right. Well, I it's funny that you said that.
- 36:53Speaker 1: As soon as the game was over, I immediately textured
- 36:56Speaker 1: blew up felgerl Tony and Jim Murray said, Bruins blew
- 37:00Speaker 1: feld to celebrate, I mean celebrates all right. Eight five
- 37:04Speaker 1: five Pats five hundred is the ace ticket hut line
- 37:07Speaker 1: eight five five Pats five hundred. Web radio at Patriots
- 37:10Speaker 1: dot com is the email address? Anything else we need
- 37:13Speaker 1: to talk about? We mentioned that the Patriots are flexed
- 37:15Speaker 1: out of the Las Vegas game. It's now a four
- 37:18Speaker 1: oh five game next Sunday. Any other voting voting for
- 37:25Speaker 1: the Pro Bowl? Yes, voting for the Pro Bowl and
- 37:28Speaker 1: December fifteenth, So use the hashtag Pro Bowl vote. Yeah,
- 37:32Speaker 1: and either tag your favorite player or at least put
- 37:34Speaker 1: their last name in it to vote for them. Somehow
- 37:37Speaker 1: I sense the excitement of Patriots fans for Pro Bowl voting.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Isn't there this year? No? Yeah, I did see that.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Judon does is like the leader obviously for his position.
- 37:48Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, other than that, so you got Jude On,
- 37:51Speaker 1: who else? Marcus Jones, Mark Jones, probably Nick return Yeah,
- 37:58Speaker 1: he's going to be the All Pro returner, Yeah, just
- 38:00Speaker 1: like Gunner was, only he'll have earned it. Anyone else really,
- 38:06Speaker 1: maybe Nick Fole, Maybe I don't know. Running back right.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Running back is tough for m Andre you know Nick Chubb. Yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 1: there's a lot of good running backs. Yeah. Also um
- 38:20Speaker 1: Walter Payton Man in the year. Yeah, yeah, every guy.
- 38:25Speaker 1: So he's the nominee. And then they announced it around
- 38:28Speaker 1: Super Bowl and there's a lot of things that go
- 38:30Speaker 1: into an organization. It's not just the film, all right,
- 38:33Speaker 1: we need to talk about the community. This was making
- 38:35Speaker 1: the transition from regular media to team media tough for you. Huh.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Just embrace it. The team is embraced. The ship is sinking.
- 38:44Speaker 1: We're talking about did you run into Koch was Nikovich
- 38:46Speaker 1: on your show today? I saw Nikovich running around and
- 38:49Speaker 1: was not he was coming running. For the first of all,
- 38:51Speaker 1: it's not my show, and he was not with us
- 38:53Speaker 1: and and your boys. Teddy Bruski's out there with some
- 38:55Speaker 1: some fee and kids. I don't know if they're having
- 38:57Speaker 1: a fee and day. I wonder if the feeing coach
- 38:59Speaker 1: was is named one of the coaches of the week,
- 39:03Speaker 1: because they're all here today. I think it's a year
- 39:07Speaker 1: the coach of the year is the Wakefield coach, but
- 39:09Speaker 1: Fien's coach may have been. I think Brian Pinnabell is
- 39:12Speaker 1: his name. He may have been the coach of the
- 39:13Speaker 1: week one. Yeah, one of these weeks. I didn't know
- 39:15Speaker 1: what was going on. Everybody, like everybody was invited back
- 39:18Speaker 1: old Patriots. I was talking to Tip this morning. Yeah yeah,
- 39:20Speaker 1: And of course the us Men got knocked out. But
- 39:22Speaker 1: there's hope for the future. That's what I'm here, is
- 39:25Speaker 1: this nineteen seventy six. Ye, there's hope for the future.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Did anyone go to any state championship games Friday Saturday? No,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I watched a little on TV, though I watched a
- 39:35Speaker 1: good portion of them. Yeah. One of my sons KP
- 39:40Speaker 1: champs again. No, they got crushed. Really yeah, they please
- 39:44Speaker 1: see him. It's not their fault. Okay. They have to
- 39:46Speaker 1: play the best team in the state in Division two,
- 39:48Speaker 1: which is ridiculous, that's all right. Saint John's Prep beat
- 39:54Speaker 1: Springfield Central, which is oh that's a big one. A
- 39:57Speaker 1: little bit of a little upset, a little bit of
- 39:59Speaker 1: an up set. And like I said, one of my
- 40:01Speaker 1: son's very best friends was the player of the game. Wow,
- 40:04Speaker 1: thirty seven carries for one hundred and thirty eight yards touchdown.
- 40:08Speaker 1: It's not a very good average. That he completely won
- 40:12Speaker 1: the game. It was one of those. He kept getting
- 40:13Speaker 1: three yards every play. It's like James Cook. And no,
- 40:17Speaker 1: he didn't get twenty eight like James Cook game. Um,
- 40:21Speaker 1: it was like three yards at a time first down, Yeah,
- 40:24Speaker 1: like three and they just grinded out the clock. But
- 40:28Speaker 1: it was kind of like that was the height of
- 40:30Speaker 1: like the rain early in the day. It was really
- 40:32Speaker 1: really sloppy. And I think the Springfield quarterback is a
- 40:35Speaker 1: kid named William Watson. They call him Pop. He's going
- 40:38Speaker 1: in Nebraska, real good, like dual threat guy. I think
- 40:41Speaker 1: he was really neutralized by the way I was looking
- 40:43Speaker 1: at the ticket scans and ticket scams. Over the course
- 40:47Speaker 1: of all the games, they had almost twenty thousand people.
- 40:49Speaker 1: That's awesome, come here, that's pretty cool. Yeah, great venue.
- 40:52Speaker 1: So he's gonna go play for Matt Rule, Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 40:55Speaker 1: and uh yeah, there's I mean, there's a kid for
- 40:57Speaker 1: Saint John's Prep. It's going to Georgia John Elle Aguero. Um.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I don't want to put that kid in the Tom
- 41:03Speaker 1: Brady category of everything goes right, but like it just
- 41:05Speaker 1: sounds like that kind of kid, Like he's got the nickname,
- 41:07Speaker 1: he's got the illiteration last name. It's just like he's
- 41:09Speaker 1: already set up to be that guy. Like you know,
- 41:11Speaker 1: I don't haven't even seen him, but I'm sure I
- 41:13Speaker 1: know exactly what he looks like. Pop pop popos right
- 41:20Speaker 1: transferred to Colorado one one one final thing coming out
- 41:24Speaker 1: of the game on Thursday, And I guess this is
- 41:26Speaker 1: for you, dude. Any repercussions on the cloak that Bill
- 41:30Speaker 1: was wearing and for those for those of us he
- 41:34Speaker 1: has no time for you. Come on, let's get to
- 41:37Speaker 1: the over routes. Um no, I went over rout I
- 41:42Speaker 1: need to tell about uh. For those who don't know,
- 41:45Speaker 1: all of a sudden, Bill in the second half, we
- 41:47Speaker 1: just emerged in one of those giant player cloak. It
- 41:49Speaker 1: was like he was on the vikings. He wanted to
- 41:51Speaker 1: be the Walter Peyton manna, Like whoa if that wasn't
- 41:55Speaker 1: a just a microcose him of where they're at. I
- 42:00Speaker 1: know Bill put the cloak on. It was weird, it
- 42:03Speaker 1: was fun. Yeah, I don't know. It didn't help. I'm
- 42:05Speaker 1: not going to record that one though, but I did
- 42:07Speaker 1: put a picture of it in the in the database.
- 42:08Speaker 1: You're not going to repostity. No, I made a note
- 42:11Speaker 1: of it, made a note of it. But if anybody comes, so,
- 42:13Speaker 1: let me ask you in terms of the data base,
- 42:15Speaker 1: ye does does it get recorded when he starts the
- 42:18Speaker 1: game that way? Like it doesn't count like if he
- 42:21Speaker 1: puts it on later? Well, definitely, because he was wearing
- 42:23Speaker 1: something pregame, I think this week that was different. And
- 42:25Speaker 1: then he changed. Oh the only time he changed was
- 42:27Speaker 1: in the twenty fifteen AFC Championship in Denver. He went
- 42:31Speaker 1: from like a hot jacket to the sweatshirt. And that
- 42:34Speaker 1: was one that was like a whoa, whoa, whoa, what's
- 42:36Speaker 1: going on there? That the mortar kick game? Was it
- 42:39Speaker 1: the game he kicked off and over? No? No, this
- 42:42Speaker 1: is the playoff game they have not the coach of
- 42:44Speaker 1: Stephen Jackson. That's thea. Those are my greatest hits. That
- 42:47Speaker 1: was Miami, my twenty and fifteen greatest hits games. That
- 42:50Speaker 1: was the game he had Gronk in the in for
- 42:54Speaker 1: the two pointers. I just remember the fourth down play.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I forget about the rest of the game. It's very convenient.
- 42:58Speaker 1: I just thought I was rattled when I saw him
- 43:00Speaker 1: come out with the clothes. I didn't know what's going on.
- 43:03Speaker 1: It must have been cozy in there though. Yeah, all right,
- 43:06Speaker 1: so I guess we'll go to the phones. Um, we'll
- 43:09Speaker 1: start with Patty and Agawa. What's up Patty? Hey, what's up? Everyone?
- 43:16Speaker 1: So I called into the postgame show and my network
- 43:20Speaker 1: dropped the call or my service serience probably didn't because
- 43:24Speaker 1: I was pretty hammered. And um, I'm pretty sure I
- 43:27Speaker 1: was going to drop up an f bomber too. So,
- 43:29Speaker 1: and I don't want to get a band from the
- 43:31Speaker 1: show Freddie right. So I'm glad, I'm glad. I'm glad.
- 43:34Speaker 1: You know the universe works mysterious ways. Um, big picture
- 43:38Speaker 1: question though for you guys. Um, and I'm bringing this
- 43:43Speaker 1: up because that uh friend of the show, mister Bart,
- 43:46Speaker 1: I can't I don't know if it was him or
- 43:48Speaker 1: my Cathlick talking on their show how Bill may see.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Matt Patricia has a long term plan, he does, maybe
- 43:55Speaker 1: he doesn't want to bring in a guy that's going
- 43:56Speaker 1: to come for a year or two. I mean, if
- 43:59Speaker 1: that's the case, and it's a big what it But
- 44:01Speaker 1: if that happened, any of you guys have any faith
- 44:06Speaker 1: that this offense is going to get better, even if
- 44:08Speaker 1: like they shore up the offense of blind because I
- 44:11Speaker 1: sure as hell don't well, I mean, okay, so let's
- 44:15Speaker 1: just say you believe that Patricia is not good right
- 44:18Speaker 1: now at what he's doing. Can he improve? I mean,
- 44:22Speaker 1: is it possible that he gets better doing this? I
- 44:25Speaker 1: mean you can't rule that out right. I mean I
- 44:28Speaker 1: think they're on a clock though. I mean, I don't
- 44:30Speaker 1: think they have time to sit around and hey, I
- 44:32Speaker 1: know it's terrible right now, but in six years, Like,
- 44:35Speaker 1: I don't like, you got to play to this year.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't, I don't I don't see it.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I don't have any confidence in this. But one thing
- 44:43Speaker 1: that you said, Patty that did kind of you know,
- 44:45Speaker 1: resonate with me, is is Bill like after all the
- 44:48Speaker 1: years of you know, getting that brain drain, people leaving, Like,
- 44:52Speaker 1: is he getting tired of that? And like, yeah, I
- 44:54Speaker 1: do want somebody that I know is going to be
- 44:56Speaker 1: here for a few years. And you know, but this
- 45:00Speaker 1: is the problem with not promoting from within, right, Like,
- 45:04Speaker 1: this is the problem with not having a pipeline. And
- 45:07Speaker 1: I would also mentally has had the pipeline and the
- 45:09Speaker 1: pipelines dry now well, but this but that's his part
- 45:12Speaker 1: of his job is to continue to develop coaches. But
- 45:14Speaker 1: they've gone too fat. You know what I mean. You
- 45:16Speaker 1: can't like Josh was here for ten years. Yeah, I
- 45:20Speaker 1: mean I think to a degree, like, but then he
- 45:22Speaker 1: left everybody with them. But this is what Saban deals
- 45:24Speaker 1: with all the time too at Alabama, and basically at
- 45:27Speaker 1: Alabama it's a two year shelf life on an offensive coordinator.
- 45:30Speaker 1: It's Lane Kiffin to Sark to Billy Oh, you know
- 45:33Speaker 1: it's it's two years and he knows that. So what
- 45:35Speaker 1: they do is is they just passed the playbook from
- 45:39Speaker 1: coordinator to coordinator and everything kind of stays the same.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Each coordinator puts their own little spin on things because
- 45:45Speaker 1: that's what coaches do. But for the most part, the
- 45:48Speaker 1: base offense for Alabama hasn't changed since Lane Kiffin was
- 45:52Speaker 1: there in twenty fifteen twenty sixteen. So when you have
- 45:55Speaker 1: a defensive minded head coach that that you have to
- 45:59Speaker 1: be willing to work on offense like you have to
- 46:02Speaker 1: be willing to for the fact that offense is not
- 46:04Speaker 1: where your expertise is and you're going to have a
- 46:07Speaker 1: little bit of an evolving door there. And with Patricia,
- 46:10Speaker 1: I always go back. I love Batman, Christian Bale, love
- 46:14Speaker 1: that series, that whole trilogy, and there's a scene with
- 46:17Speaker 1: Bain right where Bain was like, I was born in
- 46:20Speaker 1: the darkness and you simply you were simply adopted. Yeah,
- 46:26Speaker 1: Matt Patricia is adopting offense. He was not born in
- 46:30Speaker 1: offense right, Like he was not. That's not in his roots,
- 46:34Speaker 1: Like that's not in his makeup. He is a defensive
- 46:37Speaker 1: minded coach. Like can he get better? Yeah? I think
- 46:40Speaker 1: you're right, Fred in the margins, And honestly, do you
- 46:43Speaker 1: think he'll get discernibly better? I don't like anytime soon.
- 46:46Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean I didn't ask you if
- 46:49Speaker 1: you very low bar to star. I asked you if
- 46:51Speaker 1: you thought he would I think he can. I think
- 46:53Speaker 1: he would if if if he was given the time,
- 46:56Speaker 1: he would get better. Okay, but what is the time,
- 46:58Speaker 1: Like you know, a couple seasons? Okay? Yeah, I mean yeah,
- 47:01Speaker 1: I think we'll get better if you give them three years.
- 47:03Speaker 1: We don't have three yea mac Jones will be gone
- 47:04Speaker 1: by now. Yeah. I was gonna say three seasons as
- 47:07Speaker 1: a long time. And I don't know how much patience.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I mean, as you can see for mac Jones on
- 47:11Speaker 1: the sideline, I don't I don't know how much patience.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I think it takes time, and I think he would
- 47:15Speaker 1: get better. The question is that I don't think they're
- 47:17Speaker 1: gonna That's why I said before last game that there's
- 47:20Speaker 1: going to be a shake up on offense next year.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I think it's a different Yeah, I really, I really
- 47:25Speaker 1: hope so. Um And just to like sit on Eldred's
- 47:28Speaker 1: side of defense too. I mean, what would have been
- 47:30Speaker 1: the harm of having keeping Patricia as an offensive as
- 47:34Speaker 1: system to the sort of groom think Kayley from within
- 47:37Speaker 1: to be the play caller and eventually the offensive coordinator.
- 47:40Speaker 1: I mean, at least you wouldn't have to change systems.
- 47:42Speaker 1: You could have kept the same um yeah system. And
- 47:47Speaker 1: I wonder what the deal is with Kayley. What I
- 47:50Speaker 1: hope isn't the case, and we'll find out from Elder
- 47:52Speaker 1: Patty Patty, but what I hope isn't the case is
- 47:56Speaker 1: that they didn't do that because they felt like Kayley's
- 47:58Speaker 1: gonna leave. Like to me, I think Even's Alabama situation
- 48:04Speaker 1: I think illustrates it. You have to know that if
- 48:07Speaker 1: you if you pire people and put them in positions
- 48:10Speaker 1: to succeed, and they succeed, they're probably gonna leave Like
- 48:13Speaker 1: that to me, that shouldn't be a deterrent to do something,
- 48:15Speaker 1: and I've heard that too many times. I think it
- 48:17Speaker 1: might have been. I look at Buffalo and they had
- 48:21Speaker 1: Ken Dorsey right, and they they had Brian Dable, and
- 48:24Speaker 1: they had Ken Dorsey grooming or Brian Dable grooming Ken
- 48:27Speaker 1: Dorsey because they knew Briton Dable as a hell of
- 48:28Speaker 1: a good coach and he's gonna get and Sean McDermott's
- 48:31Speaker 1: a defensive coach, so they had the guy waiting to
- 48:34Speaker 1: take over for Brian Dable and it was Ken Dorsey.
- 48:37Speaker 1: And I just the Alabama example and with Patricia go
- 48:43Speaker 1: back to the summer when the word Billy used was
- 48:46Speaker 1: streamlining the offense, and now, more than ever, I believe
- 48:50Speaker 1: that they streamlined the offense because of the coaching staff,
- 48:53Speaker 1: not because of the players. I don't think the coaching
- 48:56Speaker 1: staff was capable of coaching a complex offense to that level.
- 49:01Speaker 1: So they pulled it back and they, I personally think
- 49:04Speaker 1: that water and that's why Ivan Fierce was here as
- 49:07Speaker 1: much as he was. He still someone had to teach
- 49:09Speaker 1: them he's still here, and Ivan Fiers, I think was
- 49:11Speaker 1: tasked with explaining to them what the you know what,
- 49:14Speaker 1: what carry over that they have And I'm not saying
- 49:17Speaker 1: that it's all the same as it used to be,
- 49:20Speaker 1: but it's not also entirely different, right, And I think
- 49:23Speaker 1: they watered it down for the coaches. And now it
- 49:26Speaker 1: gets to the point where they're on third down, they're
- 49:29Speaker 1: running the same play over and over again on third down,
- 49:31Speaker 1: and Kendrick Bourne's like, they know what we're doing on
- 49:33Speaker 1: third down, and we got to scheme it up better
- 49:35Speaker 1: because they're running the same play. And that was two
- 49:37Speaker 1: weeks after guys were overheard in the locker room saying
- 49:39Speaker 1: the other team is calling out our place right. Uh,
- 49:42Speaker 1: speaking of Eldred, he's on the phone. What's up, Eldred?
- 49:46Speaker 1: Hey doing good? Hell? Hey, hey dude a little bit too.
- 49:52Speaker 1: I'm still gonna pick it. You wish you're still lead time? Ah,
- 49:58Speaker 1: that's I'm just picking. It's tired of twelve and four.
- 50:04Speaker 1: You know what, man, you know what, Man, I can
- 50:06Speaker 1: ride that dude. It was in a wheelchair. You can
- 50:09Speaker 1: do a chuchdown mad ride him that far. But nothing
- 50:12Speaker 1: for that. But uh, on that post game, Deuce, I
- 50:16Speaker 1: felt your frustration. Yeah, heard ya all the way. And
- 50:19Speaker 1: y'all got mad at Kentry Borne and maybe Matt for
- 50:23Speaker 1: acting out. But don't y'all know players do be crap
- 50:27Speaker 1: from real stuff. Yeah you know, I don't. I mean,
- 50:30Speaker 1: I don't, So you know, you know you can't blame
- 50:33Speaker 1: them again first rate, because one you're cutting off the money,
- 50:35Speaker 1: you're cutting off the bonus, and then you know it's
- 50:38Speaker 1: then not being productive. And I was definitely, like I
- 50:41Speaker 1: said before, ass Kayley. Then Patricia called him plays because
- 50:46Speaker 1: he's the this is the minded coach. Ain't no way
- 50:48Speaker 1: he could pitch the offense like that. I'm sorry you
- 50:51Speaker 1: just that way. But we also have no idea if
- 50:53Speaker 1: Keyley can do it. We don't know, but I understand
- 50:59Speaker 1: off you all down. Yeah, could be the worst. But
- 51:02Speaker 1: why do you think that Bill didn't like all these
- 51:04Speaker 1: people left with Josh? Why did Bill say no to Keyley?
- 51:08Speaker 1: I guess is that he was under contract? Okay, so
- 51:11Speaker 1: but he still said no to him, right, and the
- 51:13Speaker 1: others weren't, so he had no choice, that's my girl.
- 51:16Speaker 1: So you're saying he would have said no to the
- 51:17Speaker 1: other that's my guess. I don't do I know? Do
- 51:19Speaker 1: I know that? Nope? Okay, nope, I mean that could
- 51:22Speaker 1: that makes sense. If that's the case, That's what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 1: you know offense undermid Daniel, So it makes perfectly sense. Bill,
- 51:30Speaker 1: Do you like like everything else? He like his guy
- 51:33Speaker 1: and like drafted. He like his guy. He see the
- 51:37Speaker 1: athletic guys, interviewed them. You want to pick a cup
- 51:41Speaker 1: of them, but you won't move up to get him.
- 51:43Speaker 1: The next team gets didn't come back kickout. But every
- 51:45Speaker 1: during time I came in for a visit, or he
- 51:48Speaker 1: would like this guy like Jeff or we wanted Debo,
- 51:52Speaker 1: he came in. If you don't see him, but if
- 51:54Speaker 1: he seemed to kick out. But yeah, it's such a
- 51:56Speaker 1: great point because, yeah, I think that we're all talking
- 52:00Speaker 1: much about Patricia is something that I wanted to bring up.
- 52:04Speaker 1: We're all talking so much about Patricia and the play
- 52:06Speaker 1: calling and the offensive coordinator and all this kind of stuff.
- 52:09Speaker 1: And I think that that's like the four, that's the trees.
- 52:13Speaker 1: But the forest is that Buffalo's rosters is better than yours. Yeah,
- 52:16Speaker 1: they're just a better team than you are. They have
- 52:18Speaker 1: a better quarterback, they have better skill players, they have
- 52:21Speaker 1: better defensive players. They are a better team than you are.
- 52:24Speaker 1: And to some extent too. As much. I'm not trying
- 52:27Speaker 1: to scape goat Patricia and say that he isn't actually bad, right,
- 52:31Speaker 1: and it's it's personnel and all that kind of stuff,
- 52:34Speaker 1: But I think we also need to hold the team
- 52:36Speaker 1: accountable for their player personnel decisions and their player acquisition decisions.
- 52:41Speaker 1: To Eldrick's point, you know they had in twenty nineteen.
- 52:44Speaker 1: They have all these receivers in for visits. A J. Brown, Deebo,
- 52:47Speaker 1: Samuel Terry McLaurin, you know, nikkil Harry, right, they have
- 52:51Speaker 1: all these guys in for visits, and their decision is
- 52:54Speaker 1: to draft Nikkiel, who's the worst out of all of
- 52:56Speaker 1: them by a mile. Last year they drafted Cole Strange, okay,
- 53:02Speaker 1: because they created a hole and they drafted a guard.
- 53:05Speaker 1: And when they drafted him, I lost my marbles, all right,
- 53:09Speaker 1: And I said, I said at the time, how does
- 53:14Speaker 1: Cole Strange help you against Buffalo? Like, how does that?
- 53:17Speaker 1: How does a guard from Chattanooga in the first round?
- 53:20Speaker 1: How does that shrink the gap between you and Buffalo?
- 53:24Speaker 1: How did it shrink the gap? On Thursday night? They didn't, right,
- 53:27Speaker 1: And now Cole Strange has been benched twice in his
- 53:30Speaker 1: rookie season. PFF I think has him seventy fourth among
- 53:34Speaker 1: eighty three guards in their grading system right now, and
- 53:38Speaker 1: the Patriots are in a position where they don't have
- 53:41Speaker 1: any premium blue chip talent outside of like Matthew Judon
- 53:44Speaker 1: and Romondre Stevenson. And I would also go to the
- 53:47Speaker 1: second round with Taekwon Thornton. Now, maybe with Taekwon if
- 53:50Speaker 1: they were willing to actually use him in a productive way,
- 53:53Speaker 1: he would be a better player. But he's getting outperformed
- 53:57Speaker 1: by people that were drafted after him too. So it's
- 54:00Speaker 1: not just even as receivers, right, It's not just the
- 54:04Speaker 1: in game coaching, It's not just the coordinating of the offense.
- 54:07Speaker 1: The personnel decisions have been terrible for years as well. Yeah,
- 54:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna piggyback on that a little bit, and I think,
- 54:12Speaker 1: you know, I totally agree. This is the thing we
- 54:13Speaker 1: talk about. Why are they in this point where they
- 54:15Speaker 1: I think bad drafting is the core of all of it.
- 54:18Speaker 1: But I'm also at the point now where I feel
- 54:20Speaker 1: like they're not developing players either. So like, as much
- 54:23Speaker 1: as they're missing on the draft picks, they're also drafting
- 54:25Speaker 1: some talented guys who are now going backwards. So I
- 54:28Speaker 1: wonder where how are things meeting right now with this
- 54:30Speaker 1: coaching staff and the schemes and everything, because you could
- 54:33Speaker 1: bring I think you could bring in better coaching, and
- 54:35Speaker 1: you might get more production. You might feel better about
- 54:37Speaker 1: some of the players on this or I'm not saying
- 54:39Speaker 1: that there's talented as Buffalo, but I just that's what's
- 54:42Speaker 1: distressing to me. All the points are right, but guys
- 54:45Speaker 1: like Dug or Barmore, Mac Jones, you know, everybody, Isaiah Win,
- 54:51Speaker 1: I mean, Isaiah Win was a serviceable tackle and he's gone.
- 54:54Speaker 1: I mean he was hurt a lot, right and now
- 54:58Speaker 1: now it's like he doesn't play all the time, and
- 55:00Speaker 1: when he does play, he's kind of met. And that's
- 55:02Speaker 1: one more point I make on this. This subject is
- 55:04Speaker 1: just the overall talking to have an upstairs about this.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Who wants to play on this team? Like and I know,
- 55:09Speaker 1: and like it just doesn't seem like they are a
- 55:11Speaker 1: team right now. You gotta do this every time we
- 55:18Speaker 1: get each other worked up. He because he comes in
- 55:19Speaker 1: all hot and bother about something whenever the first time
- 55:22Speaker 1: in the week after the game, and we've both been
- 55:24Speaker 1: sitting on our thoughts for like two days. This is
- 55:28Speaker 1: that's like I think when I when I look at
- 55:30Speaker 1: this Patriots team, like when I'm an outsider because I
- 55:34Speaker 1: did not grow up a Patriots fan at all. It's
- 55:35Speaker 1: like they, I think, pride themselves with great coaching and
- 55:39Speaker 1: like Bill Belichick being such a great coach. And I'm
- 55:41Speaker 1: not saying he's not a great coach now, but I
- 55:43Speaker 1: think that now it's you're kind of seeing, like, Okay,
- 55:46Speaker 1: all those guys left and went to Las Vegas. Bill
- 55:49Speaker 1: Belichick is still here. He doesn't have the same coaching staff,
- 55:52Speaker 1: but he also doesn't want to go out and like
- 55:53Speaker 1: pay money for all these stars either because he feels
- 55:55Speaker 1: like he can do it without them. But now you're
- 55:57Speaker 1: reaching a point where you're like, Okay, I don't have
- 55:59Speaker 1: the coach and I don't have the stars, and so
- 56:01Speaker 1: which one is he going to try to do get
- 56:03Speaker 1: better coaching or is he going to try to like
- 56:05Speaker 1: get stars in the off season both? You got to
- 56:08Speaker 1: figure out what about getting star coaches? We just we
- 56:12Speaker 1: just not do things that that only you would do. Okay,
- 56:17Speaker 1: that's the part that I love that, that's the part
- 56:19Speaker 1: that I'm frustrated about the most wants to be different
- 56:21Speaker 1: Matt Patricia. Only Bill Belichick would make Matt Patrician offensive coordinator.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Nobody else would do that. And the strange, only Bill
- 56:28Speaker 1: Belichick draft Cole Strange in the first round. And what
- 56:31Speaker 1: is the reaction to that? Like, there's so many, so
- 56:33Speaker 1: many reactions to that would be like, oh, like even
- 56:37Speaker 1: Robert Kraft kind of said all that unorthodox, But he's
- 56:40Speaker 1: been unorthodox in the past and had success, right, right,
- 56:43Speaker 1: and so's And I'm not saying this move was met
- 56:46Speaker 1: with a lot of skepticism by not just the media
- 56:49Speaker 1: but by fans too. So I'm not saying that all
- 56:51Speaker 1: fans thought would it, But there were a lot of
- 56:53Speaker 1: people that were like, Oh, he's gonna make you guys
- 56:55Speaker 1: look like idiots? Like why, Like why is that the goal?
- 57:00Speaker 1: Shouldn't the goal just be let's have his productive an
- 57:03Speaker 1: offense for our second year quarterback as we can he may,
- 57:05Speaker 1: let's provide as much of a support system as we can.
- 57:08Speaker 1: He makes it harder on himself almost on purpose, right,
- 57:10Speaker 1: And I feel like that, I know it sounds stupid,
- 57:13Speaker 1: it sounds, but I feel like he does that, yeah,
- 57:15Speaker 1: because it's like if he had just like hired like
- 57:18Speaker 1: Adam Gase just to use some random outside guy. That's
- 57:21Speaker 1: where other teams would do, right, So if it works,
- 57:24Speaker 1: I don't get credit for that. I think he prides
- 57:26Speaker 1: himself on like doing things his own way and not
- 57:29Speaker 1: following the rest of the league. It's like the Rams
- 57:32Speaker 1: go ahead, stack their team up, they win a super Bowl.
- 57:34Speaker 1: The Bills when after von Miller and all the other
- 57:37Speaker 1: guys that they have, it's like there, he just doesn't
- 57:40Speaker 1: want to do that. I wonder how much of it
- 57:42Speaker 1: is financial, Like if I think that's part of it.
- 57:45Speaker 1: He has a budget that he needs to keep and
- 57:47Speaker 1: they just spent what two hundred and seventy million the
- 57:50Speaker 1: previous year in free agency because of all these issues
- 57:53Speaker 1: that Evan and Mike just I do as a player personnel. Look,
- 57:58Speaker 1: the caps a cap and I think his bogus, but
- 58:01Speaker 1: you're still only gonna be able to when you with
- 58:05Speaker 1: the cap space that they had in the off season.
- 58:06Speaker 1: They had like one big move they could have made, right, Like,
- 58:09Speaker 1: they had one swing they could have made, and they're
- 58:10Speaker 1: not going to do that with the money that they
- 58:12Speaker 1: had just sent. Right that was from a coaching standpoint,
- 58:15Speaker 1: I think Adam Gays is a great example, because Adam Gays,
- 58:18Speaker 1: I think is coaching like high school football right now
- 58:20Speaker 1: or something like that. Like and Bill was spoken very
- 58:23Speaker 1: highly of him in the past, not just coach speak
- 58:26Speaker 1: highly of him, but like, I think he would not
- 58:28Speaker 1: have cost a lot of money to bring Adam Gayson.
- 58:30Speaker 1: That's my point. Bill O'Brien would have cost him a
- 58:32Speaker 1: lot of money. Adam Gas would not have cost him
- 58:35Speaker 1: a lot of money. But I just it drives me
- 58:38Speaker 1: nuts because then everybody looks at like Paul was to
- 58:41Speaker 1: Paul's point, everybody says, oh, why why why does the
- 58:45Speaker 1: media consensus board in the draft, Like why does that matter?
- 58:49Speaker 1: Like who cares? Who cares what everybody in the media
- 58:52Speaker 1: says about who should go in the first round? You know,
- 58:54Speaker 1: he's Bill Belichick. He Okay, Well, if I was running
- 58:57Speaker 1: their draft board, or if Mike was running their draft board,
- 59:00Speaker 1: or if any mel Kiper was running their draft board,
- 59:02Speaker 1: then Devin Lloyd would probably be a Patriot right now, right.
- 59:05Speaker 1: And I would also say, not necessarily, like individual, not
- 59:09Speaker 1: to break this into a draft thing, because I'm sure
- 59:10Speaker 1: we'll get a lot of that when the off season
- 59:12Speaker 1: gets here, But not necessarily talking specifically about individuals like
- 59:16Speaker 1: Devin Lloyd as opposed to Cole Strength Walker by Christian Watson. Yeah,
- 59:20Speaker 1: there were a lot of guys that were like, I
- 59:22Speaker 1: was so excited for Oh my god, it's happening at time.
- 59:24Speaker 1: If you if you look bad. Yes to the times
- 59:27Speaker 1: when they sort of went unconventional at the draft, it
- 59:30Speaker 1: almost it really doesn't work a lot like the times
- 59:34Speaker 1: when they pick a guy that no one saw coming
- 59:37Speaker 1: is it's always like like everybody says Kyle Dugger. No
- 59:39Speaker 1: one thought Kyle Dugger's division two. That's exactly where Kyle
- 59:43Speaker 1: Dugger was projected in that draft, yea early second round. Yeah,
- 59:48Speaker 1: it's the guys that were projected like four rounds off
- 59:52Speaker 1: from where you pick haven't really worked out. Like Tavon Wilson. Yeah,
- 59:56Speaker 1: I was just trying to think, you know, everybody like
- 59:58Speaker 1: like everybody don't don't Cliff you, Sean McVay, I will
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: never forget that, you know what. I and I don't
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: know how you feel about the seven because we weren't
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: on the shows together at the time. I think that
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: he was laughing at himself because he really thought he
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: was going to get that guy in the fourth round. Right,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: That's what I think he was laughing at, Like I
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: think everybody looked at he was making fun of the Patriots. No,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I think he was making fun of himself and less
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: sneed he was making fun of the Patriots. See, this
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: is what you deal with. Don't ever look in the mirror.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: I don't think that he was making fun of the Patriots.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Might get answers, but I do think on their board,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: they thought that he was going to be a third
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: or fourth round and they were laughing at the Patriots
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: for taking it off. I think they were laughing at
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: him for thinking he was going to be there in
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: the fourth round. Yeah. So now when you when you
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: look at some of the things that happened in the offseason,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: would you have kept those guys on the offensive line
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: so then you wouldn't have drafted Cole Strange and drafted
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: a number one eye receiver instead. So they negotiated, and this, yes,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: to answer the question. In short, they they're negotiating with
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Ted Carriss was a joke. Okay. They lowered their offered
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: at Ted Carriss like twenty minutes before he signed the
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: contract with the Bengals. Yea, they lowered he came back
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: with their offer, with the offer of the three for
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: eighteen that he got from the Bengals the Patriots or
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: initial offers three for fifteen. Ted came back to the
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Patriots and said, I got three from eighteen from Cincinnati.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Can we I want to stay in New England, but
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: can we bridge this gap? And they lowered the offer. Wow,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: where'd you hear that? Can't tell you when he was
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: a big JJ. That was just a lowercase Jay. They
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: lowered the offer, and so what not the first person
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: they've done that with too, Shack Mason, but Andrews shack Mason.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I think you can make the case that at ten
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: and a half million dollars for shack Mason performance relative
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: to contract, maybe not the best deal in the world.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: But if they had somebody like Ted Carriss here who
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: could have started this season and they didn't have to
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: use either use a first trum pick on Cole Strange
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: or throw him out to the Wolves in his rookie
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: season and they could have broken him in a little bit,
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: would it be better. Absolutely would be better. I think
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: that big mistake was they franchise Tuney instead of just
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: extend him and overpay him a little bit, but just
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: keep him. He's he can play like four positions. My
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: whole thing to me where I differ with the Patriots
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: is I don't care like winning the contract. Like Evan
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: just said, you know, maybe you can make an argument
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: ten whatever million not commensurate with you, but you know,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: and you just said, like the franchise, Like, to me,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: the only the only factor should be is this guy
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: a player? Can he play? Does he do what we
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: need him to do? Joe Tuney yes, Jack Mason yes,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Ted Carris yes, But yet we're saying, yeah, he does
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: what we want him to do, but not for that
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: my terms, not for that he needs to do it
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: for this, Like why is that to be? And I'm
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: not suggesting you give a guard like twenty eight million,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: like no, but like yeah, you definitely get what you
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: pay for it. But you know, is Joe Tony worth
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: you know whatever? The what was it fourteen million? What
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: was then the franchise? No, he probably wasn't worth that,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: but he was just really like do you know he
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: just missed his first every game. If it was a shopper,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: he'd be a coupon clipper for sure. But at least
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: that on when he was in the waiting in the
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: wings at right guard right. So they had they knew
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: that they had a starting caliber right guard left guard.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: They just left that open and that's why they ended
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: up having to waste the first round pick on it,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: because if the season had started the next day, they
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: literally did not have a guard on. You can let
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: one of them go right and you know, because you
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: have one guard replace him. But they opened they intentionally
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: opened a hole, yes, which caused you to have to
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: reach for a guard in the first round. Right. They
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: couldn't even get one of the best guards. They just
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: had to get a guard because which is something they
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: always tell us, bid we trade up four picks to
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: get Zion Johnson, they have to wait for cold Strade. So,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: I mean, I think there's a big, bigger picture thing
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: with the accountability too that I think it's personnel based.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: I think you're absolutely right, and Mike and I have
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: had many conversations about this on the show. But I
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: also think this coaching thing with Matt Patricia and we
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: can get to it after the break, Freddie, this isn't
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: all on just Bill and Matt Patricia and Joe Judge.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Like the players need. Yeah, they might not be talented
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: as some as talented as some other teams, but they're
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: more talented than they're playing. And I think part of
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: it is just a lack of commitment to what they're doing.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if you like it, do it like
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: you're trying to win football games. Stop pouting and play.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: And what you just said might be the biggest indictment
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: of everything of right now if you don't have a
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: team that wants to play hard for you, I think
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: we've gotten there yet. No, we could pick it up
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: after that break. I think it's just like a different
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: element of the accountability. I loved when when Evans started
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: off with the account of ability thing, because I don't
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: think there's really any other than the coaches. It's all coaches. Yeah,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: all right, we're gonna take a break. We'll come back.

- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Had a fumble on the mash and Stevenson has to
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: come up with US patriots who will lose a yard
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: and turn it over forthcoming after a near fumble lost
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: their seriousness and in all seriousness, you're better off sneaking
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: on fourth and inches eliminates this. The two handed hand off,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: who are you reading? Just give it to him with
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: one hand. I think Stevenson went the wrong way. Seriousness
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: read no no, I think, I think. I think that
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: one is called to go off right guard. It looked
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: like Stevenson was heading off tackle. Now maybe he didn't
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: like what he saw inside and Mett didn't get there
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: was a bad mash and with a deep dropping kink,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: crash and he steps up, he spans, he's hit by
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Oochen and he's cry right at the line of scrimmage.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: The Bills will face a third and fifteen. Good job
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: by oochepen on it coming back down hill, But it's Wilson.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: It comes in and hits him on top the head
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: on Allen. So if people want to continue to run,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: you have to hit him as if he's a runner.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I'm not saying play dirty or hit the head, but
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: you need to be physical with this guy. He's a
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: fullish ev. He's a full play Bacon's. I drew him
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: under the markets. Jones will get it. In the forty
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: thirty five thirty twenty five, the rookie is loose to
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: the ten stars touchdown Patriots. They took him on the
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: first contenship plays in the rear. They told me, pray
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: be ready for some early that they wouldn't tell me.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: But they slipped at the fenship back into the lineup,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: flex him all the way out to the right, and
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: they run a quick screen to him and the rest
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: of his history it's all feet from there. This is
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: the stuff you can't coach. You just don't run. Three
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: bills defenders two have the angle on you, and we
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: got the lead, and now Allen and company and control
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: her with the third and tenth from the forty one.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: He takes the snap with a fake inside his ships
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: by Jakins going to the bass loose. It's going to
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: him to pick up by Judog. He's hit and he'll
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: be wrapped up at the forty three and go England
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: and thrown backwards. Yeah, he's still on his feet, but
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the play has been ruled dead after Josh Shallen was
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: stripped by John dru j. Good time about a quarterback
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: A couple of times. Buffalo goes to work here with
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: two receivers right, digs to the left, knocks in the back,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: get along with hot Singletary and Alan with a playfakins.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: I fire into the end zone left back carner. It's
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: caught by Stefan Biggs. The back pedals with a touchdown.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Buffalo has gone back in front. Wow with that easy
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: all day to throw. I mean he run a long
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: dated play action pass. He resets, he knows, Oh they're
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: only Russian three and Diggs just does a little in
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: shaken and cuts it back out and Alan throws a
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: rifle rocket shot right in the back water route. Oh
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: Man hides off his left hip. He takes the stead off,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: he shuffles back. He rolls to his wife Alan outside
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: the party that he's being Jake blayhackroll. He grows a
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: lot of sidelines. I finds your receiver. Touchdown Buffalo, Hellena Davis.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: There's a flat just short of the goalie, but it's
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: on New England. It appears and Josh Allen runs all
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the way to the firest sideline with defense number thirteen.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: This bunals decline the results of the play. There's a touchdown,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: fires back across his body and Wilson bounces. Just made
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: for a sixteen seven league. I mean, Josh Hallen's hop steaded.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Get a chance to lay him out on the sideline.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: You bounce off him and he off one foot plants
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: the right elevates it still has enough arm strength with
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: his big hurt arm. The thrown in there to the receiver,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: and so I think Jonathan Jones Betta gave up on
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the plate. Alan has it off a run up the
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: middle of my Singletary into the end zone on its feet. Touchdown,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Buffalo untouched right in the middle. Fourth touchdown rushing for
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: Devin Singletary. They have the last four games for the Bills.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: I mean, just the way this game was gone, you
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: know eventually the damn's gonna break. I don't how much
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: more you can hold him at seventeen offense can't do
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: anything but three and punt, and the Patriots, looking at
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: a third and fifteen backed up to their thirty eight
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: high staff is back to Jones. A deep drop stands
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: in throw us at left underneath pop By Myers and
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: the flat. He dives ahead of the forty seven yard
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: lives four England and the Patrebos were punk welcome. There's
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: some white flag waiver right, white flag waver fans Huffala
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: loves it. Look at them when Patriot fans are booing
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: the Bills fans and there are a lot of them
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: here today. That's the stake because it's down below our booth.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Happened with what they're seeing. They've won four of the
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: last five. Jones takes the snap first and ten from
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: the forty nine mac. Pressured from our ride's being chased,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: he backs up. He circles back the wonder said Jones.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Jill on the run. A woman not blocking that defends
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Jones throws at your side, dropped by Bourn. Matt. Jones
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: look circling all around the field and pursue Jordan Phillips
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: coming back across the field pass the five standard oweo.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Jones gets it to Bourne, who drops it. Is this
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: an offensive line drill where you stand there and watch
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: your quarterback run around and not block anybody, But he's
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: trying to keep a play alive. I've never seen anything
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: like it. You got a chance to take your left
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: shoulder and stick it in his chest. Hits somebody get angry.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Third down staff looming from the patriot forty seven yard
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: line again Victory formation, Alan takes the knee and that's it.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: The Patriots indeed drop a second straight Thursday Night affair.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: They falled in six and six. The Buffalo Bills improved
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: to nine and three. They can coninue their recent dominance
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: of a division rival. The one's reigned not only over
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: the AFC East, but especially repeatedly the Buffalo Bills. The
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: Pats had won thirty five of forty. Buffalo has now
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: won five of six. Although Bills try to continue on
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: to upward trajectory toward the postseason, the Patriots now have
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: five games left try to fight their way into postseason contention.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: You know what, We're in the holiday season, and you
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: know who's ready for the holidays? FedEx. They are ready
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: for the holidays, Wilson. That's it. That's the read. I
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: hope they are. I hope they took the time that
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: they saved writing the copy for this read and the
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: spending at delivering packages. But FedEx is ready for the holidays.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: They didn't just say like, hey, just let everybody know.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: So let me take a poll Christmas gifts. What percentage
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: are you doing it online? For us actually going to
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: a store and buy who I'd say probably online online?
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Dred percent for evan to marrow. Uh, this conversation is
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: very debatable for me because it's my birthday and I
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: hate buying people gifts on my birthday. Oh okay, Christmas
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: is your birthday? Yes, it is so miserable. Nobody else
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: in this room has to buy gifts for someone on
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: their body. Throw the birthday out of it. I just
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: hate I would I'd rather just sign a thing of like,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: all right, no one has to get me any gifts,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: and I'm not getting anybody gifts and we're all good.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Like I would just make that deal with the world,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: but I'm sure kids would wrenches. My wife had a
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: thing where okay, we're all gonna pick each other's names
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: out of a hat, and whoever's name you pick that's
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: who you buy the gifts for. And my son was like,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: that ain't happening because he knows he would get he'd
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: get like his grandmother. You know. But back to your question,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: online only the store is just anxiety now, Pauline. Yeah,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: but that's just out of laziness. Yeah, I'll probably do
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: about eight online. It's better too because then sorry FedEx,
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: but like then you don't have to go make that
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: extra stop and go pick it up because now you
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: can like check the box like it's gift to put
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: a gift note inside. Some places even like will wrap
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: it for you. Yeah, it's just perfect. Yeah. I don't
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: like having to wrap stuff. But that's the only part
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: I don't like is a stickler that everything has to
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: be wrapped, count putting it in a bag. Yeah, what
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: about gift back with the tissue paper. I try to
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: get away with that, Samarrow, you could, you could probably
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: do that, but like we were talking, you know, in
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: the break about stocking stuffers and whatnot, and you know,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I always get her like some gift cards and things
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: like that they have to be wrapped. What she knows
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: what they are, even the gift card. Yeah, she's insane.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I think my mother in law wraps presents like she
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: doesn't want you to open them. That's how tight they are.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Like it's like I need scissors, Like you can't get
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: you can't get into it with your bare hands. That's
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: how that's how sealed up it is. I'm the vice
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: president of the trash bag when opening presents right right away,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: right away. Right. Don't you hate that? You know? You know,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Rich Rich like hits me no matter where I am.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: He hits me right in the temple every time. But
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I'm okay with that because, oh, you get it all
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: done right away so that you don't have to pick
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: it up, really crush it, so you maximize your space.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: I'm now you got the dog, so like you know,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: they can't leave the crapper on the floor because it's
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: the dog will eat it. I got it. It's been
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: better in recent years as the nephews have gotten a
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: little older, we've Rich and I have sort of passed
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: that along. Yeah, so they handle all that and now
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Rich hits his son in the temple with the with
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: the chronicled up wrapping paper. I like that job too.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: It gives me, it gives me purpose. Yeah, we're not
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: even gonna have to clean up. I'm doing it all
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: right now A welcome. Yeah, all right. Five five past
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: five hundred is the ACE ticket outline web radio at
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: Patrice dot com. We got some callers that have been
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: holding on. Thank you. Let's go to Willem. Fella, what's up?
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Will they thank you? Fred? Before I go back to work?
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Thank you? All right, I'm just gonna get strin First
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: of all, they dude, how did this feel? Uh? Three
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: four years now? Time didn't you say? Uh, I'm trying
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: to coach the work that you said at this time?
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: It was gonna poor Mike, it'd be fun. I think
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: it'll be fun. I've had a lot of people they're
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: still mad that I thought it would be fun. I
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: gotta get them. I gotta get But I got acause
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: he was like I want to put I remember what
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: he's saying. It's like, I'm ready to try something. Move now.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: I'm ready to move on on it. It was gonna
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: something like that too. Yeah. I wish it could have
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: lasted forever. I do. I do wish it could have lasted.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: That tweet didn't last long. Is it working out for you, Mike?
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: How was it working out for all of us not well, right,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: I mean what I mean, if I could have hit
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: pause in twenty eight for me and Fred, we didn't
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: want to pull the famous quote for for duces. I
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: am so tired of twelve and four. We suck, we've stagnated.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: Oh I got you see. That's what happens coming me boy,
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: And that's this is what um, this is what all
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: of y'all at the fame even though Mry, I know
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: you new to this no with the team and all
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: and everything though, but I'm gonna go switch you in
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: anyway because you wouldn't okay, even age too on half
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: of that. So why haven't okay you called out man?
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Y'all call out man for Church. You've called out anybody
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: but the main front running death running the whole show.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Y'all never call him out, either of you, Evan, even
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: when you add the YouTube thing when you and Alex
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: we're doing, y'all never called him called out Bill? Why
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: did you listen to the first hour of the show. Wow,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: took you wrong enough? Right? I mean, I think we
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: gave him the benefits of that man. But here's the thing,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: and I hear what you're saying, William, I all right,
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: I believe William has some things to say. Okay, go ahead, yeah, remember, Paul,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: you won't me have a d M when you learn
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: how to argue. I got more right now, yes, okay,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: doing well? Okay, So I'm saying, nice, How long how
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: long you have y'all seen Bill mess up the rough?
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: But how long have you seen them mess up the draft?
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: When you could have got Justin Herbert? You didn't want?
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: When when could they have gotten Justin Herbert? First of all, wait, wait, wait, wait,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: wait wait wait, tell me how they could have drafted
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Justin Herbert. I don't disagree with your general point, but
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: make it right. Please up and oh yeah, so they're
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: supposed to trade up what Justin Herbert's draft was? Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: fifteen picks to trade up for Justin Herbert? You got it,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: you got it? Okay, keep going, Okay, Okay, that was
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: good for you, Paul. It's good arguing. Yeah, but I
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: kind of agree with em. And then I think Justin
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Herbert was a little out of I've also watched Bill
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: be one of the great coaches of all time for
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: a long time too, and I can't think of who
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I would rather have instead. Of him. Okay, okay, Fred,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: let me get you push back. Okay, I get it, y'all.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: All I'm saying, and I agree with you. He's a grist,
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: I guess, the brest coach of a time. But look
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: at what's going on for the past three four years. Man,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: you can't destes mans to be argued at this point. Man,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: don't don't stick people bows. Ain't gonna hold up weight
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: man at this point? Yeah, you know, I mean, how
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: long you don't think anybody's defending he's the greatest. He's
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: the greatest coach at all time. Look at the rocks,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: the ladies and gentlemen. Look at the time, the offensive coortineers.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Look at what he's doing. He's still hockey foot Man
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: didn't say he does with best for his team. Really
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: look at it. Look at his because because joint practices,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: because the off seasons, the weapons. Look at it. Yeah,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: I say, listen, you know it's it's a results oriented
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: business and right now he's not getting the results. There's
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: no doubt about it. I mean, what can you say?
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: And he said it himself. I'm in charge. I put
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: it on me, right, So I understand that, Fred, But
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: pictures on Philter nick y'all never called him out. I
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: don't know. I think we spend a lot of times times.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: A lot of people in my mentions would disagree. So so, William,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: let me let me ask you a question. Are you called?
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: Are you calling for the firing of Bill Belichick? No,
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: I don't do What are we doing so close? Okay?
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Go ahead, all right, I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: tell you what. I'm gonna say, what I think won't
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: happened just because he wants his BIA. Okay, all right,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you off the front. Go. I don't
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: hope mister Craft with his air Force one is right
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: every day. I hope he just put things in check
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: with him now if Bill don't want to roll with it, basically, yeah, okay, okay,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: And I think you're gonna get your wish. But yeah, yeah,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I also think that all ee in the room, I
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: think that's what's gonna happen with with that, Like I
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: think everyone in the room is there. Yeah, we get
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: I think most people, most rational people, gave Bill a
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: couple of years to rebuild the team, and now that
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: the team is not where where it needs to be,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: where he's started starting to get plenty of pushback from us,
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: from everybody else in the media or around here. I
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: don't know what else we're supposed to say. That's why
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: I love y'all. I listen to yall. All right, all right, thanks,
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: thanks William, Thanks William. I hope that police were up
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: to him throwing off against the cruiser or something. They
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: could have had justice rubber. But listen, I hear what
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: he's saying, and like we were talking about it at
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: the beginning of the show, and maybe even before the
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: show started. You know, definitely, the human cry is negative
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: toward Bill these days. You don't hear the Belichick people
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: these and maybe they're just being quiet and there, you know,
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: because they don't have much to say right now. But
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: the tide is turned and h but the thing is, like,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: are you calling for him to be fired? Well, no,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: I just want to think it's funny that it took
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: him hiring a defensive coordinator as the offensive coordinator for
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: people to family say I'm not sure you're doing the
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: right thing. I just you know, it's so like they
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: were saying it on the blog, you know, Bubba, you
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: know when I said, Okay, who do you want Sean
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: You know, Sean Payton's name gets really you know, first
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: of all, I think the Saints still have his rights, right,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: so you have to go shape with them and give
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: them something in order to get him. And if you
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: believe he's the guy, you do that, you give up
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: a first round pick for. I'm just surprised that you're
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: a lukewarm on I'm a little bit lukewarm on him.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: I would take him, yeah, yeah, why offensive guys? Yeah,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: one of the best offensive coaches in the league. Yeah,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: I would take him. What's he one without Drew Brees?
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: I mean, I mean nothing, but like what you need
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: to find a way to help your quarter? What did
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: Drew Brees win without him? Yeah? I know. It's so
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: so Sean Payton. Just when you thought I was gonna
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: zing who else? Who else? I don't, I don't. I mean,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: this isn't about the head coach. It's not. Oh not,
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: I'm not not either, But I just I bristle at
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: the who would you rather have? I don't really know
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: all the principles available. And if I think my head
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: coach isn't getting the job done, I need to move on. Yeah,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: but they're all imperfect. So I'll take the best one
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: that's imperfect, and that's Bill Belichick. I still think the
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: biggest thing to me, to me is what we were
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: talking about a break. It's accountability. Okay, it's somebody and
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: I think that to a degree, And maybe this is
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: why some of their personnel moves for a couple of
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: years there were a little bit different. I do think
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: from what I had heard that that Dave Ziegler was
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: able to push back a little bit on Bill and
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: the draft from in that twenty twenty draft, and that
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: that draft ended up working out pretty well. But I
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: heard the last two years we drafted better. I mean
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: twenty one draft. Excuse me, everybody likes the last two drafts.
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: I'm not sure about this last. I'm not sure about
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: this one. Yeah, well, strange will be fine, be okay, Well,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: if they all do things that they haven't done yet,
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: the draft will be good. Yeah, you're right, But racist
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: Jones is good. I think it's accountable right, Like he
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: at this point, he's allowed to just do whatever he
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: wants and get away with it. Yeah, and the only
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: person because he's the the tzar of football here, there's
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: nobody above him, and football. And look, I think Macro
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: is a has a bright football mind when it comes
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: to scouting. That guy ain't standing up to Bill. I
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: can just tell you right now that guy is not
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: gonna go up to Bill. And just look at it.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: Look at it, Like from Afar, this is the son
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: of one of his former coaches, right that he coached
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: with Froll. How is he in the league. Yeah, it's
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: just his person. He Alway job too. Yeah, Like I'm
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: not telling you that he can't stand up to him,
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: but empirically you look from Afar the circumstantial evidence. Do
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: you think the son of al Grow, who's got his
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: job because of your connection to Bill Belichick from al
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: Grow is going to be the guy that's saying no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: cold Strange, we need to draft. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: I don't think that's happening. I don't know. I don't
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: know the answer to that. The only guy that he
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: got Elliott Wolf, I don't know what his Wolf was
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: yelling at everybody. The only guy made. I don't blame him.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: The only guy that I think can hold him accountable
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: is mister Kraft, Like he's the only guy that can
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: that can say, hey, the only buddy person above you
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: in this organization, is That's true, right, And he's the
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: only one. Like I feel like mister Kraft has to
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: be our savior at this point, right, like, can you
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: like please like like give us something, you know, speak
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: for us, right, speak for the fans, speak for the
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: people that care about this team. But because he just
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: does what But the only thing I want my owner doing,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: and I don't care what sport it is, is to
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: tell my head guy do better. I don't want him
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: telling what to do because that's not his area of expertise.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: And then holding accountable, you know, do better, and you know,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: give him parameters if you don't do better by this
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: point or whatever. But that's really all in my opinion,
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: and owners should be do is holding people accountable. If
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: your Mike's not on, it was on. Sorry. Um So
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: what if, for example, he says do better, but Bill's like,
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: what I'm doing is better, like and he doesn't want
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: to change anything, you know? Then what if he wants
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: to give Patricia another year? What if he's like, Okay,
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: we tried it, but I think one more year would work. Yeah,
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: like that, then you cut ties? Yeah, I mean, Evin
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: said the word accountability. And I think something that's frustrating
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: for fans like me is that there's not a lot
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: of accountability based on the product we've seen over the
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: last three years, how the seasons have followed similar trajectories.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: What does accountable What does accountability look like? I think
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: it's going pretty good. Like that's not that's I'll give
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: you an example, Okay. And I'm not telling like you
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: know me, I'm not a big advocate of like this
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: guy needs to be fired, that guy needs to be fired, right,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: losing job, just like I'm not a hot day. But
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: in terms of what Mike just talked about accountability, have
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: you ever seen a team for a whole year have
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: special teams as bad as the Patriots did last year?
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: And they continue? Right? Yeah? I mean, how many punts
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: do we have blocked last year? Three? Right? And I
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: had a field goal blocked, I believe too. Uh. And
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: and you know, returns were you know, not not returns
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: for touchdowns but returned the journing game was a problem.
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: Their special teams were abysmal last year and nothing changed.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: And now Bill's been here for twenty you know, head
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: coach for twenty two years, and I don't know the
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: answer to this during a season. Has he ever fired
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: a coach or demoted a coach during during a season?
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: But they've moved on from coaches, Oh yeah after the season.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Who is the last one I can think of that
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: they they moved on, but I can think of different
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: like Dean Peas all of a sudden was gone as
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: when it was defensive. Yeah, but like the fact that
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: and again I'm not saying like poor cam cam Accord,
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: like I don't know if he's a great coach or not,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: but like I don't think you can form any worse
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: than that. Like maybe green Bay. Green Bay's special teams
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: were pretty bad last year ultimately cost them the season.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: They moved on, they got a new guy. But but
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: like I want to make this point right on top
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: of years, is like everyone is terrified right now. The
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Bill's just going to say, no, we like what's going on,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: We're to bring them back. And I want to get
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: to Bill's quote this swarning because Evan and I were
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: in the press conference. Um, but Fred, when you said, like,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: do you think the owners should never tell the coach
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: what to do? Yeah, Like, like football, I don't want
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: to meddling but I wanted, and I told like I
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: would largely agree with that one hundred percent. I think
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: the best owners allowed the people that they hired to
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: do their jobs, and then if they don't do it,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: you get rid of them. But what I would ask is,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: would you consider if if Robert had a talk with Bill,
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: you know, middle of January, assuming that they're done, and
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: said this didn't work. The way we had it set
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: up on offense didn't work. The players aren't happy, the
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: fans are not happy. We need to do something different.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: Is that telling him what to do? No? Okay, I agree, No,
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: I agree. I think he'd be well within his rights
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: to have that conversation with Bill. This is and then
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: it'll be up to Bill to say, I'm not letting
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: this guy tell me I need to make changes to
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: my coaching staff. And then you well, my first I
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: don't think he would leave. I think he would say okay,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: my initial my initial conversation would be okay, over the
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: last two years, are you happy with how things have
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: turned out? If if if Bill says yeah, okay, we
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: got a problem. If he says yeah, I'm as unhappy
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: as you are. Robert. My second question is what are
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: you going to do about it? I give him a chance, Yeah,
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: I don't ye, And then I listen, what are you
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: going to do about I don't give him a chance?
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: And if he said and if and if he says
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: and if he says, well we're just gonna keep, then
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: I got a problem. Yeah, but tell me what you're
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: gonna I feel like we had that conversation two years
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: ago though, like before the Mac draft, like you know,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: like that's when it felt like the come to Jesus
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: moment of hey, that's what Evan's talking about with Ziegler
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: maybe had a little say, had a little backbone connected
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: to this draft, which I agree this draft was not
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: what they needed right now. I mean, this is this
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: draft is looking like this is exactly what you didn't
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: need at this point in the quarter. Right now, this
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: draft is draft is average at best. I don't like
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: determining what a draft is, you know, thirteen weeks into
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: guys NFL careers. But we had no problem doing that.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: Last year. Everybody said what a home run the draft was.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: And last year was mac Stevenson and Barmore And last
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: year what do they do? They drafted two guys from
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: Alabama and two guys from Oklahoma and this year they
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: and they went three for four. Can we shop at like,
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: can we get some name brand play like players, Like
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: can we can we draft guys from the SEC? Like
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: can we draft guys from that that played big time
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: college football? Not Chattanooga? Not no offense to Baylor. I
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: know they're in the Big twelve, which doesn't play defense.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: So when Taekwon Thornton's out there and running through guys
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: at four, two, eight and at in the Big twelve,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: what difference does it make? Right? And this is this
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: is what I get back to with the you know,
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: giving him a chance to say this is what I'm
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: gonna do about it? No, no no, no, no no. If mac
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Jones played last year as a rookie the way he's
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: played this year and Barmore got hurt the way he
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: did this year and hasn't really played, how would you
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: look at last year's draft. Yeah, but everybody just decided,
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: you know, because these guys had success. Immediately the home
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: run on that draft home run, well, let's see, right,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: And once that became the narrative, you had to stick
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: to it because he's your quarterback now. And now you're
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: like invested. Let's see how they say the same thing
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: about this year's draft too, exactly exactly. I don't like
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: making determinations thirteen games into a guy's career that the
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: guy can play or not. Ronnie Perkins last year he
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: didn't play. This year hasn't played. I don't know, like
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: we've never seen him. It's the thought like I could
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: be convinced even though I didn't want Cold Strange, I
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: probably wanted Lloyd. I wanted a faster linebacker. But you
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: can convince me those first two picks, may you could
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: you know, the logic, we need help on the offensive line, okay,
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: and we want to add speed to our offense, and
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: so you can the logic was there. It's like, maybe
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: they didn't pick the right guy, but the logic was there.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: Same thing with free agency there and the drafted to
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: kill Harry too. They had a need at receiver, right,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: but they didn't there There was more logic about that
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: than drafting the guard in the first round. We're just
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: getting to the point of third guard in the first round,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: where we're getting to the point where the fact that
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: they're drafting the wrong players year after year after year
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: has there has to be some accountability for that. Yeah,
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: there has to be a point in time where we
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: say why is this key? Pat Robert said it at
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: the owners meetings that our drafts have not been good enough.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: And I would not sit there and say to to Belichick,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: like you have to hire Bill O'Brien, like you have
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: to hire no that that would be telling him what
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: to do, right. I would say to him, you need
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: to hire an offensive coordinator that has a history of
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: coaching offense, right, Like you need to hire a real
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: offensive coordinator next year. Yeah, that would be item number
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: one on the list. Like that, You not what are
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: offensive coaches period? Like everybody's I think stretched too thin.
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: I think that's part of it too. You need to
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: hire a real offensive coordinator. I would love for them
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: to hire a real offensive line coach as well. And
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: the other thing that I would honestly say to him
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: at this point, too, is the name of the game
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: at receiver has changed. Like you cannot go about the
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: wide receiver position anymore, the way that they want to
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: go about and shop shopping at the dollar store, like
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: making acquisitions for Davante Parker, Like the game has changed,
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: Like the trades that are helping teams are A J. Brown,
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: Tyree Hill, you know, Stefan Digs a couple of years
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: ago to Buffalo, DeAndre Hopkins who they'll play on Sunday,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: to Arizona. Like these are the trades that have moved
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: the needles for Teach. By the way, speaking of free agents,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: DeVante Adams over the weekend is I mean, he's really
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: clicking now we have to deal with him. He makes
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: me nervous. And I was talking to someone earlier, I'm like,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: I can just picture John Jones on him, just like
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: Justin Deperson pulling, trying to pull him down by the face,
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: man concerned. I mean we saw in Vegas. I mean
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: we've already we've already gotten a glimpse of it. I mean,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: for me, it was it was Jalen Mills, which one
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: wrap up the sideline was like they were they were
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: side by side and then all of a sudden, Adams
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: just put the hammer down and was like bye bye, Joe.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: I mean right over. Plus, I mean the Raiders are
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: starting to play a little bit better defensively, which their
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: defense has been like historically bad all year. All of
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: a sudden, your boys, Chandler, Chandler three sacks the other day. Um,
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: and they're supposed to be getting Renfro and Waller back,
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: who are eligible. They have refused with that now and
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: they have a cupcake Thursday. I mean Thursday night. Road
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: games are never cupcakes. But Vegas to La isn't exactly. Uh,
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: you know, they should beat the Rams if they if
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: they beat the Rams, Patriots if they If they beat
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: the Rams, they have a chance to pass you the
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: following week, regardless of what the Patriots. I just don't
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: think it's a coincidence either. And look, I think the
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: Davante Adams situation is really particular because he wanted to
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: play with Derek Carr. So that's like, you know, one thing.
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: But Ziegler and McDaniels finally get get away from the
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: nest here in New England and the first move they
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: make is to go trade for high. It's not that
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: it makes you feel better, like I don't want to
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: like turn the Patriots into the Red Sox and like, oh,
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: it's great that you're you're in on all these guys,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: But did you hear the Patriots name with a J.
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: Brown or DeAndre Hopkins or Davante Adams, Like I'd never
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: like heard any like they had a J. Brown for
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: a rookie visit here that was no. I mean, I mean,
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: when the time, why why is it that their names
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: aren't because I don't think they look at it. I
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: think they think everybody else is dumb for overpaying the receivers.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: I think that too. I think they look at it
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: and they say, that's not how you actually build a
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: football team. That might be how you build it in
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: Madden or Fantasy football. But things have changed. But I
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: agree with Ed. I don't think I think that they
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: believe changed that the Agalore is the Bourns, the Parkers
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: of the world is a better investment than pained Tyree
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: killed thirty million dollars and it's just like, you know,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: the quarterback is even changing. I mean like, I don't
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: even think that they would ever. I could not foresee
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: them drafting adjustin fields like someone mobile, Oh see that one.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I couldn't see it. I think they were strongly interested
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: in Lamar Jackson. I think they really really kicked the
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: tires on Lamar Jackson. I don't think that they closed
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: the door on that. But now the problem would be
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: are they willing to give that kind of guy like
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: two hundred and forty million guaranteed, which was what Baltimore's
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: dilemma is, right right, Yeah, they don't know if they
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: want to do that now that I don't know. And
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: if you get one of these quarterbacks that demands top dollars,
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: they were lucky that they you and I don't think
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: Brady gave a lot back to the table. But Brady
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: didn't demand to be the highest paid guy. He could
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: have asked and he could he could, he could have
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: He and Peyton could have been at the top of
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: the list every year, and Brady it wasn't important to
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: him to be at the top of the list. And
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: they were fortunate with that. I allowed all the other
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: salaries to drop under his lively conversation. People calling, emailing.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: I want to get to some of the emails, but
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: let's unstack the phones here, Christians in Boston, what's up,
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: Chris with A T, I, A N. Hey, A lot
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: of hatefill um, you can add me to the list.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: I think it's time to move on. Wow. And I
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: just spent a batter part of the whole row listening
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: to you rattle off the litany of reason, and they're
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: all down. I mean, this is a third year in
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: a row that you get embarrassed from trimetime by the
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: same team and you don't have an answer to And Fred,
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: you mentioned in the post game show that in the
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: chat a lot of people stay of the crash thing. Yep,
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: what do they think? They got a company that's worth
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: five billion dollars? I want to go, I think you're
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: worth five billion dollars and you can't get a phone there? Right?
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Are you calling from Ukraine? Where are you calling from?
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I want to really crappy. Okay, all right?
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: Because it was Christians. I wouldn't have done that to
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: kill a guy. Yeah, so Christians as hardcore fantasy can
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: get right? No, because I think NBC Sports Boston tweeted
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: out earlier today a poll. You know we're talking about
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: just like the Ovan thing, like all the different things
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: that have gone wrong. Should they should the crass be
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: considering a change at coach? And someone had read this
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: to me and like laught and like how ridiculous is that?
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: I was like, what do you mean, Like, do you
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: think then the guy goes? Do you think he should
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: be fired? I said, no, I don't, but I can
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: understand someone who who does Like, since Brady's left, it's
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: gone downhill, right, So was it him or was it Brady?
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: Like I think if someone had that mentality, I'm not hitting,
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: I'm not here to tell you you're right. And I
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: think it was Brady and Belichick together. I think that
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: that they succeeded together. Someone else might not look at
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: it that way. Is that unfair? And I don't even
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: look at it through the Brady versus Belichick think. I
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: just it's been going down hill. No, But that's what
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: I'm talking about, you know, like like it's just it's
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: just like I think Bill deserves the chance to sort
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: of fix this mess that I think largely he created.
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: But I think he deserves the child Pete Carroll when
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: he was here starting the playoffs. By the time he left,
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: he never had a losing season. His last season was
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: eight and eight, ten and six, nine and seven eight.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: Clairett was going in the wrong direction. I'll be interested
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: to see if, like mister Kraft will like meet with
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: players on offense to kind of hear what they have
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: to say. Would you do that, like kind of like Robert,
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: that's dangerous, that's dangerous. And you also get into but
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: the things that Kendrick Bourne said after the game b personally,
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: I will defend Kendrick Bourne, and if they make him
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: inactive on Monday night, that is bogus because this offense
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: is an absolute train wreck and they have good they
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: have good enough players for it to be better, and
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: he was just inactive. Mike resaid on the radio yesterday
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: that he might be inactive for the game. See I
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: would just if you if you're gonna make him an active,
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: just cut him. What are you gonna make him in act?
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: In fact that he's inactive or he's bench You know,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: he dresses, but he doesn't play, like whatever the case
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: may be. To me, that is just so ridiculous that
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: he actually had the backbone to stand up on on
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: Thursday night and say what everybody else was thinking and
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: everybody else knew was to be the truth about what
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: was going on with the offense. And because he was right,
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: you're you're gonna bench him And I'm look, I'm getting
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: mad at them for doing something that they haven't done yet,
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: but I just I just see it coming, like I
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: we know how this this goes. And Kendrick Bourne's already
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: been down this road with this if what if from
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: the get go two strikes Bill has said, this is
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: how we were on here. We don't air our dirty laundry.
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: Come to me, Come to your position, coach. But if
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: he already flip over a table in your position meeting,
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: do whatever you do, but don't do it publicly. When
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: then he's done it twice al what if he already
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: has more than that? What if he already has but
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: other guys have done it publicly too? Yeah? Yeah, what
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: he means? What if he already has? What if kender
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: Bourne already has? Because I don't think did Kendrick Bourne
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: said anything to us on Thursday night that he hasn't
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: already said to the coaches? Yeah so awesto. I also
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: didn't in my opinion, because I was standing right there
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: with Evan. I don't think anything that he said was bad.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: Like I feel like he started off, he definitely paused
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: before a lot of his answers, but I liked how
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: he kept bringing it back to like I wish Mac
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: had more time he was. I think he was really contradictory,
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: to be honest with you, maxis press converence, like he
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: would say something and then bring it back because he
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: had because he had to praise the coaches every thirty seconds,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: and we're saying things like we need to go down field. Boy,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: Mac doesn't have any time, Like, I don't know, you
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: borne thoroughly confused me. Yeah, I just but I'm with Evan.
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: I kind of like the rant. No, I didn't. I
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: wanted to say that based on I think William called
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: like saying, I like, I have no problem with with
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: what they're what they were doing after the game and
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: talking about I mean, everybody's frustrated, like everything they said.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: I felt like, yeah, you know, and even like it's
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: not the fact that Kendrick too, He's like, it's so
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: annoying not being able to captain on what our defense
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: is doing. You finally forced the Bills to punt, then
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: you can't do anything. You get a turnover, you literally
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: can't do anything. He's like, it's annoying, it's frustrating. And
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: then you have Max sing he wants to be coach harder, right,
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: Cord that wrong's wrong. I want to be coached harder.
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: That game plan was designed to essentially take advantage of
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: the fact that the Bills are near the bottom of
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: the league and miss tackles, which by the way, was
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: accumulated when they had like half their defense out due
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: to injury. And on top of all of that, the
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: only guy that could make the miss a tackle is
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: Marcus Jones. So you had to play Marcus Jones on
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: offense to have one play to take advantage of that
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: on those lines. Can I ask you real quick and
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: if you just one word answer, do you think if
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: Tae Kwon Thornton had that same bubble screen it's a touchdown? No? No,
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: I don't think so. Yeah, probably, No, I don't. I
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: mean I he I thought that might be alone on
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: that No, No, I didn't. Like I think it was
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: a special run. I think if they got the ball
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: to him ten yards downfield and he could lead, he could. Yeah. No,
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: one's going to catch a pure acceleration. Well, to me,
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: it was also setting like he only had Parker in
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: front of him, and there were two guys there in
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: decent position, and he's sort of like like a punt return. Yeah,
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: it was instinctive. He set the guy up perfectly and
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: then he outran the angle r To me, it's totally
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: different type of speed. Yeah, Tai Kwon is a vertical speed.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: Type of guy. Marcus Jones is like Devin Hester speed. Right,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: it's shifty. It's Tyreek Hill's speed. Whereas Taekwon is is
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: he's you know, Deshaun Jackson's speed. It's just a different,
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: different level. All right, A couple more calls. I apologize
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: so many emails. But we've had a good show. We have.
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: We haven't got to any Todds in North Carolina quickly
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: Todd for Film and Christian with a ti N ESPN
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: threw something on earlier Staton comparing Pete Carroll and what
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: happened when they lost Willson to Belichick, when he lost Brady,
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: and how Pete Carroll has got his team back playing well.
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: I know their division is kind of but still, they
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: did a really good comparison and they basically said, you know,
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Bill's missing the boat. There's something wrong there. It's not
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: working out. You know, he's just not being getting the
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: team to perform, and he's up putting the people in
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: the right place and he doesn't even have the right people.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: And it was a really good thing. So I thought,
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: you know what, what Christian said, it's time for a change.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: I'm with him. I'm gonna put my neck on the
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: line with Christian. All Right, thank you guys. Thanks Todd.
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: Rashad's in Baltimore. What's up with shod? Hey, what's up?
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna make it quick. I just gotta
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: say I'm not looking forward to saying John Jones again
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: the next the I mean, the rest of the season,
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: the next number one wide receivers, Like, does he cover
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Hopkins in man coverage? And he's one on one with
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: the best wide receiver and he's always getting dragged down,
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: He's always behind Tralon, Like, he's not a number one corner, Bill,
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: He's not a number one corn Yeah, well, we don't
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: have a number one corner. I think he is the
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: number one corner in certain matchups. Yeah, yeah, when the
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: other team doesn't have a number one receiver, right, No,
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: no plays one. But don't put don't put him in
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: a position where he's going to have to do the
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: best wide receiver and you know he can do it.
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: You know he can't do it. And if you double
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: the double to wide receiver, that usually does a bad either.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: So it's like, but it's a lot of things. I
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: know it shows about the end. But that's that's what
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: I had to get off my jack. I think that. Okay, thanks,
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: So do you think it would have been any different
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: on Thursday if Jalen Mills would have played like what,
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: I don't think it would have helped a little. But
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: I think that and if he doesn't play on Monday night,
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: Jala Mills does not play on Monday night, I think
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: it's less of a bad thing than it would have
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: been against the Bills. Yeah, I mean I would say
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: that Mill because I think Jack Jones lost some playing
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: time the other night. I don't think Jack Jones has
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: played very well. I know he had like the flashy
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: takeaways against Green Bay. I don't think he's been that good. Um.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: I think he lost some playing time as a result
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: of some of the players that I thought he didn't
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: make that. I don't know that. No one's told me
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: that he was losing because of his play. Maybe Jalen
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: mills presence allows them to play him less. I think
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: Jack Jones has been exactly like what Treyvon Diggs was
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: a couple of years ago. Right, It's like everything without
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: all the big plays though. Well, but but he has
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: made the big plays early on, is my point, right,
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: And it just he's he's struggled. I look, the air
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: coverage has struggled for three straight weeks. I'd go back
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: to the Jets game with Zach Wilson. There's a reason
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: why Zach Wilson. But what coincided with the struggling of
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: the coverage a little bit, I just they stopped getting
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: to the quarterback. What's going on there? Well, that but
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: that's I think that's the biggest thing is that this
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: defense is driven through its pass rush, right, And I
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: think with a lot of these guys that they've faced
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: over the last couple of weeks, you know, I think
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: Kirk had a great game under pressure. I you have
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: to give him some kudos for that. And I would
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: also just mention that these good NFL quarterbacks, if there's
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: guys open downfield, the pressure doesn't affect them as much
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: as it affects the Zach Wilson or Sam Ellinger or
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: somebody like that. Right. So, if he's got an open
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: receiver downfield, but he's got Matthew Judon bearing down, a
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: lot of these quarterbacks, like Josh Allen, is still going
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: to make the throw. That's true. They've also faced better quarterbacks.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: They really have not covered well all years, and this
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: has been something that I have been seeing on all
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: twenty two. Jason I had a corner high on our
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: list in the draft because we just figured Ja Jackson's
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: going and right now I think they got a yeah.
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: I think they got a couple of promising players in
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: the third and fourth round. I think I'd like to
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: say that even though Barnmore hasn't had a great year,
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: I think they've missed him a lot, and just the
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: overall team rush together him eating blocks and all that stuff.
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: I just he's quick off the ball and disruptive. He
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: hadn't been productive, but I think that that has coincided
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: with some of this drops. He was more productive than
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: he got credit for because I think a lot of
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: people chalk out pass rush production to sacks where and
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: he's a good player. Interior pressures doesn't work like that
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: unless you're like Aaron Donald. So their interior pressure right
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: now is basically Daniel Aquale, which is a big drop
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: off from Christian Barmore. So I think that one of
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: the things that I've been toying around with maybe them doing,
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: you know, back in the day with you know, like
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: High Tower for example, used to rush over the interior
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: of the offensive line that used to stand him up
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: like in the A or the B gap and have
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: him rush as like a rush linebacker. I think I
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: would like to see them maybe try to do that
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: more with Judon and move him inside because they have
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: guys like, you know, like Anfredy Jennings for example. He
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: can set the edge right like he can just have
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: that you know, that gap integrity, rush lane integrity, just
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: you know, stay in the on the outside, keep the
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: quarterback in the pocket. He can do that, and I
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: think a lot of the time over the last couple
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: of weeks what's happened with Judon, especially against Josh Allen,
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: is they're so worried about Josh Allen getting out of
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: the pocket that Udon's edge or Judon's edge pressure kind
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: of goes by the wayside because he's not it's not
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: that type of game, right, It's not a pin your
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: ears back off the edge type of game. So it's
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: kind of taken him out of the game almost just
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: by your own doing, you know, at that. But those
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: rules in that kind of situation less stringent for an
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: interior rusher though, you know, like like a guy like barmore.
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: Would he have more free rein to break the pocket
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: and get up in there rather than the edge guys
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: who look, you cannot be past the quarterback. I would
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: think so because usually you have a second level behind
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: you on the inside. Right, So usually you have that linebacker,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: whether it's Mac Wilson spying or it's just you know,
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: a zone layer, right, you know you're in zone and
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: you have that second layer behind the interior rushers on
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: the edge, it just gets so dangerous because there's nothing
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: there's no secondary force, right, Everything is just on that
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: edge defender to keep him in the pocket. But they
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: have not been a great coverage team. I think Jonathan
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: Jones is one of those guys that is good in
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: certain matchups, like when he goes up against Tyreek Hill.
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: I actually think he's pretty good because it's just speed
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: on speed, right, it's just two fast guys guarding each other.
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: But when he goes up against guys that can win
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: at the catch point down the field, Hopkins is just
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: too big. That's why I was That's why I asked
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: you the question. Mike and I already talked about it
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: on Monday. He's just too big, right, So I don't
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: know what they do, so I personally, you know, I'll
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: write about this later in the week. But once upon
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: a time, as we keep saying around here right now,
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: they used to go with that strategy a lot of
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: the time where they would double the number one guy
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: with the second corner right and then they would have
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: you know, the number one corner take the second receiver
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: on an island. So in this instance, I'm assuming Hollywood
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: Brown's going to play. That's a great matchup for John,
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: a better matchup for Jones. But how do they handle
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Hopkins Because they used to do that with with Gilmore right,
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: so I would used to have pretty good success against Hopkins.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: This is why I hope that Jalen Mills plays, because
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: I think he's You're better off doing this with Jalen
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: Mills than with Jack Jones, because Jack Jones just scares
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: the crap out of me right now against the guy
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: like Hopkins. But I would just I would either roll
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: the safety over the top or straight up double team
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: DeAndre Hopkins out of the game. And if they beat
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: you throwing a Hollywood Brown one on one against John Jones,
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: or they're tight ends against Kyle Dugger and Adrian Phillips.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: Then you have to sort of live with that. But
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: what they did against Buffalo is basically play off coverage
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: zone and man off man and keep eyes in the
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: backfield to maybe get a pick and pray that he
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: didn't beat you over the top. I mean, unfortunately, I
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: think we're at the mercy in this game defensively of
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: Kyla Murray. Like, I think Kyler Murray is average as
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: a passer, and I think he has more than enough
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: weapons to really take advantage of the secondary. But Willie,
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: you know, will he be willing to do it? If
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: he only is able to get Hopkins four or five catches?
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: Will he be able to go to a J. Green
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: and Zach Ertz and Hollywood Brown? And who knows? My
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: favorite guy duced Greg Dortch. He's my favorite. He's been healthy.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: He missed the last game with a thumb injury. Yeah,
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: if he's able to do that, I just don't see
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: I don't see them slow. I don't see him stop
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: them now, all right with Hopkins. I just wanted this
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: last point. Their offense has been bad all year Arizona.
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: They haven't been very productive. When Hopkins and Murray both
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: plays happened four times. They average over twenty eight a game.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: Can you get twenty eight? I don't think we can call. Well,
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: we're gonna get into that tomorrow because we have another
