- 2:37Sunny mornings send you.
- 2:41In local news, Bill O'Brien, recently hired as Ohio State's offensive coordinator, is
- 2:48now a top candidate for the Boston College head coaching job, according to Fox Sports'
- 2:53Bruce Feldman.
- 2:55This opportunity arose following Jeff Huffley's departure from B.C. to become the defensive
- 3:01coordinator for the NFL's Green Bay Packers.
- 3:04O'Brien, with a successful background in both college and the NFL, is reportedly in
- 3:10deep negotiations with Boston College.
- 3:14A Boston native, O'Brien has also contributed significantly as an assistant in New England
- 3:20and at Alabama.
- 3:22If he takes the B.C. role, it would be a significant shift for Ohio State, where head coach Ryan
- 3:28Day might re-assume offensive duties.
- 3:37Now on to sports.
- 3:39Bobby Witt Jr., the Kansas City Royals' standout shortstop, has signed a groundbreaking 11-year
- 3:45contract extension worth $288.7 million.
- 3:52This deal, potentially extending to 14 years and almost $400 million, is the largest in
- 3:58Royals' history.
- 4:00It reflects the team's commitment to building a competitive team around Witt, who delivered
- 4:05a spectacular 30-home run and 49 stolen base season.
- 4:11The contract includes player opt-outs and a no-trade clause, underscoring Witt's importance
- 4:16to the franchise and its future ambitions.
- 4:20The Celtics and the Bruins were off last night.
- 4:23The Bruins played tonight at home against the Flames, and tomorrow night the Celtics
- 4:28are at home against the Hawks.
- 4:33And top news, scientists are raising concerns about Nissin, a common antimicrobial preservative
- 4:39found in foods like beer, cheese, and sauces.
- 4:43Nissin, a natural product of bacteria, functions as an antibiotic, effectively controlling
- 4:50foodborne diseases.
- 4:52However, recent studies suggest it might also harm beneficial gut microbes.
- 4:58These good bacteria play a crucial role in digestion, immunity, and mental health.
- 5:03Eliminating them can disturb gut balance and potentially allow harmful bacteria to proliferate.
- 5:10Research shows both good and bad gut bacteria are susceptible to Nissin's effects.
- 5:16While these impacts seem reversible, with gut microbiome populations returning to normal
- 5:22within days of Nissin consumption, the broader implications on gut health are still under
- 5:28investigation.
- 5:29This finding is significant considering the widespread use of Nissin in food preservation.
- 5:36Now on to business news.
- 5:39Palantir Technologies projects a strong profit in 2024, exceeding Wall Street predictions
- 5:45thanks to high demand for its AI products.
- 5:49This forecast marks its first profitable year, with shares increasing over 19%.
- 5:55The company's growth is driven by a significant rise in U.S. commercial revenue, up 70% to
- 6:02$131 million, and the closing of 103 deals, over $1 million each in the fourth quarter.
- 6:12Despite a slowdown in government revenue growth, Palantir's total commercial revenue of $284
- 6:20million surpassed expectations.
- 6:23The company's 2024 profit is forecasted between $834 and $850 million, indicating
- 6:32sustained AI-driven success.
- 6:35In crypto, Bitcoin was briefly up today, but is now back safe and sound at $42,700, Ethereum
- 6:44is about $2,300, and Solana is down to about $95.
- 6:53Moving on to a more local vibe.
- 6:55In our community spotlight on health and wellness, we are working with a national Pilates studio
- 7:02to bring you some free classes, so listen up.

- 7:29Pangham, Brookline, and Framingham.
- 7:33Just be sure to tell them, Sunny Morning sent you by.
- 7:37And now, back to the show.
- 7:42Now let's talk science and tech.
- 7:45After 141 years of debate, scientists from New York University have solved the reverse
- 7:51sprinkler problem, a question that has intrigued physicists since 1883.
- 7:57The question, originally posed by Austrian physicist Ernst Mach and later popularized
- 8:03by Richard Feynman, asked, what direction would a water-sucking sprinkler spin?
- 8:10Using custom-built sprinklers with ultra-low friction rotary bearings, the NYU team conducted
- 8:16experiments to observe the fluid dynamics inside and outside the sprinkler.
- 8:22They found that a reverse sprinkler spins counterclockwise, albeit 50 times slower than
- 8:27a normal, water-ejecting sprinkler.
- 8:31The research, published in Physics Review Letters, revealed that when water is sucked
- 8:35in, the sprinkler acts like an inside-out rocket.
- 8:39The water jets, instead of colliding head-on due to the curved arms of the sprinkler, cause
- 8:44a slow counterclockwise rotation.
- 8:47This study is more than just solving a long-standing physics puzzle.
- 8:51It has practical implications for understanding sustainable energy sources, such as wind,
- 8:57ocean waves, and river currents.
- 9:02And now, as promised, some movie suggestions, based on our favorites, with Jim Carrey.
- 9:08In this exploration of Carrey's cinematic journey, we delve into five unique films,
- 9:14starting with The Truman Show from 1998, which stands out for its insightful critique of
- 9:20celebrity culture, featuring Truman Verbank, unknowingly the star of a massive TV show.
- 9:27Then Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind from 2004 offers a poignant and imaginative
- 9:34take on relationships, where Clementine erases memories of her ex-boyfriend.
- 9:41Liar Liar, released in 1997, showcases Carrey's physical comedy as a dishonest lawyer whose
- 9:48life spirals out of control.
- 9:51And The Mask, 1994, combines Carrey's dynamic performance with a fantastical story of a
- 9:57timid bank clerk who finds a magical mask.
- 10:01Lastly, you know it, Dumb and Dumber, another great movie from Carrey in 1994.
- 10:09With Harry and Lloyd, two friends lacking in wisdom, but rich in friendship, their adventure
- 10:14begins in Providence, embarking on a cross-country trip to Aspen, Colorado.
- 10:20Their mission?
- 10:21To return a briefcase full of money to Mary Swanson, its rightful owner, who Harry and
- 10:27Lloyd find captivating.
- 10:29The journey is anything but smooth, filled with comical mishaps.
- 10:34Upon reaching Aspen, the duo discovers that the challenges involving Mary and the briefcase
- 10:39are just the tip of the iceberg in their amusing escapade.
- 10:44Dumb and Dumber never fails to cheer me up.
- 10:47Well alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the day.
- 10:51And today our quote comes from the gang in the Sandlot.
- 10:54But it was signed by Babe Ruth!
- 10:58Yeah, yeah, you keep telling me that...
- 11:01Who is she?
- 11:03What?
- 11:04What?
- 11:05The Sultan of Swat!
- 11:08The King of Crash!
- 11:10The Colossus of Clow!
- 11:12The Colossus of Clow!
- 11:13Babe Ruth!
- 11:14The Great Bambino!
- 11:15And that's a wrap for this morning.
- 11:23Remember to stay tuned tomorrow for more news and updates.
- 11:26Have an amazing day my good friends!
