- 0:00Speaker 1: To the Beacon plumbing Hothine we go where we are
- 0:02Speaker 1: pleased and thankful to be joined by Terrence Samuel, busy
- 0:06Speaker 1: receivers coach on the recruiting chill for the University of Kansas,
- 0:09Speaker 1: talking to us from Texas. He's the college position coach
- 0:12Speaker 1: for Seahawks six round pick Emmanuel Henderson. Junior coach, Samuel,
- 0:17Speaker 1: thanks for joining us while you're busy.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Appreciated. How are you, sir.
- 0:21Speaker 3: I'm doing well and it's pleasure to be on with
- 0:24Speaker 3: you and talking about Emmanuel.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:27Speaker 1: The Seahawks told us that they GPS at Kansas measure
- 0:31Speaker 1: Emmanuel Henderson at twenty two point nine miles an hour,
- 0:36Speaker 1: like faster than you can drive through a school zone
- 0:38Speaker 1: in the morning. So we know that part of him.
- 0:41Speaker 1: We know him as a punt gunner, as a punt returner.
- 0:44Speaker 1: There's a job opening in Seattle for that. Well, we
- 0:46Speaker 1: don't know about him as as a wide receiver. And
- 0:48Speaker 1: you were his receivers coach. What can you tell us
- 0:51Speaker 1: about him as a ready for the NFL wide receiver.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Well, he's coming from Alabamia, and I think that's probably
- 0:59Speaker 3: where the whole thing got to start. He was trained there.
- 1:03Speaker 3: You know, he was in a room that had some
- 1:05Speaker 3: really really good wide receivers. And you know when you
- 1:08Speaker 3: start in this portal and you're looking for players, generally
- 1:11Speaker 3: you're looking for guys with a lot of a lot
- 1:14Speaker 3: of reps. Well, he didn't have a lot of reps.
- 1:17Speaker 3: But what you saw on film was just a guy
- 1:20Speaker 3: that went with great effort. You know, was technically sound.
- 1:24Speaker 3: You know, he just needed the opportunity. So it was
- 1:28Speaker 3: a bit of a roll of dice, a little bit
- 1:31Speaker 3: to go after. But once you saw what he did
- 1:34Speaker 3: on film and how people raved about him at Alabama, Uh,
- 1:37Speaker 3: this guy had the ability to make plays at a
- 1:40Speaker 3: high level, catchball, run pass dds and give us something
- 1:44Speaker 3: good to our office that he didn't have. So it
- 1:47Speaker 3: was a no brainer for us. But bottom line, I
- 1:49Speaker 3: mean he has he's been taught to run routes, create
- 1:54Speaker 3: great separation. That's top part of his route. He was
- 1:58Speaker 3: able to you know, at the line of screen. He's
- 2:00Speaker 3: just not going to touch him in a phone book.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I mean, he's just that bad. So I said, my
- 2:05Speaker 3: biggest job was just continue his growth the ten years
- 2:09Speaker 3: understanding make sure it's football like Q was on part
- 2:11Speaker 3: with what was going to be necessary at the next level,
- 2:14Speaker 3: and he did everything, I mean, and he got himself
- 2:16Speaker 3: drafted behind him.
- 2:18Speaker 4: He's had Manuel Henderson is six pounds.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Coach.
- 2:22Speaker 1: How did you use him in Kansas's offense? Was he
- 2:25Speaker 1: mainly an X maybe xcise or was he on the line?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Was he in the slots? You move him around a lot?
- 2:30Speaker 1: How'd you use him?
- 2:32Speaker 3: That's the key. You got to move guys around, and
- 2:34Speaker 3: you got to move a guy that has speed and ability,
- 2:36Speaker 3: and he's your main target. And you know he was
- 2:39Speaker 3: our main target. We needed to be able to put
- 2:42Speaker 3: him in different spots and get him against linebackers, and
- 2:44Speaker 3: get him against safetys and and take advantage of his speed.
- 2:47Speaker 3: So we used him in everything we could. I mean,
- 2:51Speaker 3: even if there was you know, uh well, of course,
- 2:53Speaker 3: you know, with special teams and things of that nature, but
- 2:56Speaker 3: everything we could use it for what we did.
- 2:58Speaker 1: How much did you have to I don't want to
- 3:00Speaker 1: say fight, but because he was such a great special
- 3:03Speaker 1: team stand out on punt, punt return, took off turn,
- 3:06Speaker 1: did you have to seed some of his offensive reps
- 3:09Speaker 1: and snaps because of all his special teams prowess?
- 3:13Speaker 3: No, No, that's the one thing about he man, I mean,
- 3:16Speaker 3: he'd rather be taken off of offense to get a
- 3:19Speaker 3: special team's rep, you know, because he knows the importance
- 3:22Speaker 3: and the impact of it. But us, no, he can
- 3:26Speaker 3: run all day. That was never a question. We had
- 3:29Speaker 3: to be smart and just make sure during practice during spring,
- 3:33Speaker 3: during the fall camp, and we didn't overuse him because
- 3:36Speaker 3: you know, you needed him much more important to us
- 3:39Speaker 3: in the back half of the season. So his his
- 3:42Speaker 3: ability his conditioning is really outstanding, and you know, and
- 3:46Speaker 3: then his ability to go make plays in the special teams.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I mean, I haven't had a guy I've coached for
- 3:52Speaker 3: a while, and I haven't had a guy that understood
- 3:55Speaker 3: that that third part of the game like he did
- 3:58Speaker 3: and different in that third but the.
- 4:00Speaker 6: Game coach, from a coaching perspective, what separates his speed
- 4:04Speaker 6: from other receivers you've coached over the years.
- 4:09Speaker 3: The fact that he's not he's he has speed, but
- 4:13Speaker 3: he's willing to be physical. Generally, when you have a
- 4:16Speaker 3: guy that's got some speed, uh in real quickness, then
- 4:19Speaker 3: they shy away from being the physical. And like I said,
- 4:23Speaker 3: I really took my hat to some of the guys
- 4:25Speaker 3: that coached him at Alabama because you know, when I
- 4:28Speaker 3: got him and he started to show him, you know,
- 4:30Speaker 3: other parts of that physical game, that was an easy deal.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I didn't have to start from base one teaching him
- 4:36Speaker 3: how to release. Hey, it was just adding the physical
- 4:38Speaker 3: component and he did that just as easily because he
- 4:41Speaker 3: wants to get better. So and that I'm gonna say
- 4:44Speaker 3: this that that's going to be probably the best thing
- 4:45Speaker 3: that you're going to have with him at Seattle is
- 4:48Speaker 3: every week he's going to get better. He's going to
- 4:49Speaker 3: find a way to get better. So he'll find a
- 4:52Speaker 3: way to maximize that speed. And the question about that
- 4:54Speaker 3: better guy, he's one of those guys that adding that
- 4:57Speaker 3: physicality to his component is his releases and things that
- 5:01Speaker 3: I make that trick is his game to a whole
- 5:03Speaker 3: another level.
- 5:04Speaker 6: We also know that he made an impact on special teams.
- 5:07Speaker 6: How important do you think that versatility will be for
- 5:11Speaker 6: him trying to earn his role with the Seahawks at
- 5:14Speaker 6: the next level.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I mean, it's the most important thing. It's what we
- 5:20Speaker 3: talk to you. I mean at the college level. I
- 5:22Speaker 3: mean it is about having wide receivers become excellent in
- 5:27Speaker 3: special teams. Well, I mean I tell all my wide
- 5:30Speaker 3: receivers one and two. Wide receiver one, wide receiver two.
- 5:33Speaker 3: You may they may not have to get on special
- 5:36Speaker 3: teams for three, four, five, and six, which is you
- 5:39Speaker 3: better be on special teams, so you better learn to
- 5:41Speaker 3: enjoy it and maximize. You know, if you're wanted a
- 5:44Speaker 3: better athletes on the team, which most wide receivers are,
- 5:47Speaker 3: then you're going to be expected to be on special teams.
- 5:49Speaker 3: So you need to come to the understanding that I
- 5:52Speaker 3: need to maximize that third of the game.
- 5:54Speaker 1: This is advice of Terrence Samuel joining us from a
- 5:57Speaker 1: recruiting trip in Texas. He's the receivers coach for the
- 6:00Speaker 1: University of Kansas. On the Beacon Plumbing hotline here in
- 6:02Speaker 1: ninety three point three, KJRFM coach Samiel, you mentioned you've
- 6:06Speaker 1: done this for a day or three. You coached Cody
- 6:09Speaker 1: White at Michigan State, and I understand you also recruited
- 6:12Speaker 1: Ricky White the third to Michigan State before he then
- 6:16Speaker 1: you left for UNLV for a year and he event
- 6:18Speaker 1: going to UNLV after you had departed the Rebel staff.
- 6:22Speaker 4: What can you tell us about Cody White?
- 6:25Speaker 1: First of all, I know his background, but what he
- 6:28Speaker 1: was as a receiver in what you noticed and making
- 6:30Speaker 1: him an NFL receiver. Same with Ricky White, who was
- 6:33Speaker 1: a special team standout much like Henderson at UNLV, but
- 6:37Speaker 1: maybe not as known as for his receiving.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Well, I mean with Cody recruiting him in Detroit, I
- 6:45Speaker 3: mean going to watching some of these basketball games, there
- 6:49Speaker 3: was an aggressive components pay that he expressed very well,
- 6:53Speaker 3: and you know he was dominated. Will you see guys
- 6:56Speaker 3: that are just dominated on the basketball court. He was
- 7:01Speaker 3: that way. But he was also intelligent. So that made
- 7:05Speaker 3: it to where I could play him as a true freshman.
- 7:07Speaker 3: He was intelligent, he was aggressive, and he was going
- 7:10Speaker 3: to learn. As his athletics skills continued to grow, he
- 7:13Speaker 3: was good to continue to get better. So he's one
- 7:17Speaker 3: of the smartest guys that I've coached and just one
- 7:22Speaker 3: of the better people on him. And then you are
- 7:23Speaker 3: just two of the best people you're going to come around,
- 7:26Speaker 3: come around. And like I said, I mean, Cody had
- 7:28Speaker 3: his dad, you know, Shelby White, you know who's you know,
- 7:32Speaker 3: a player personnel with Pittsburgh Steelers, and so he's been
- 7:35Speaker 3: a part. He grew up with the game, so you
- 7:39Speaker 3: knew he was going to have success at the next
- 7:41Speaker 3: level and special teams wise, he was going back to
- 7:44Speaker 3: my best. So I was blessed to be able to
- 7:46Speaker 3: have Cody and have him played. I just wish he
- 7:48Speaker 3: wouldn't have got injured a couple of those guys.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And Ricky White, we know him here as a special
- 7:54Speaker 1: teamer so far, but as a wide receiver, oh.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Now, Ricky was. I watched him him and coming out
- 8:01Speaker 3: of Atlanta, I mean, you know, winn in the state
- 8:03Speaker 3: championships and things that nature. Being along for that ride,
- 8:06Speaker 3: I mean, you knew he was going to be special.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I mean he just once he put his mind to it,
- 8:11Speaker 3: you know, and he made plays and he made plays,
- 8:15Speaker 3: you know. I mean I got a chance of watching,
- 8:16Speaker 3: you know, his res shirt freshman year when he was
- 8:18Speaker 3: a Missis State. I've watching from from a distance, but
- 8:21Speaker 3: he was still making play. So I knew that guy
- 8:24Speaker 3: was going to be good and have the ability to
- 8:27Speaker 3: play at the next level, just because I mean, everything
- 8:30Speaker 3: just kind of came very easy to him, you know.
- 8:33Speaker 3: But he was still he was aggressive just as well,
- 8:35Speaker 3: but it came easy. I mean, just natural coordination and
- 8:38Speaker 3: I coordination attacking the ball just I mean he's kind
- 8:42Speaker 3: of that point guard type wide receiver, just smooth. So
- 8:46Speaker 3: and he had that in high school and he really
- 8:49Speaker 3: made a lot of people look bad in high school.
- 8:50Speaker 3: So I'm glad to see he's still doing that.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Coach Terrence Samuel, wide receivers coach from Kansas. The two
- 8:57Speaker 1: oh six on our text line is asking about Emmanuel
- 9:01Speaker 1: Henderson Junior's competitive nature. The Seahawks made it a priority
- 9:04Speaker 1: on their draft board to draft guys who would they
- 9:07Speaker 1: believed would not be in awe of coming into a
- 9:10Speaker 1: Super Bowl championship team and would compete in practices with
- 9:14Speaker 1: Super Bowl champions Where does Emanual Henderson Junior fit on
- 9:18Speaker 1: your competitiveness scale?
- 9:21Speaker 3: Okay, so simply, Kert, when you take a gun, Yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 3: you just ran down and third down or whatever, and
- 9:28Speaker 3: you go on fourth down and you're asked to go
- 9:30Speaker 3: down and run and make a tackle of a of
- 9:32Speaker 3: a plumb returner from college football and make the tackle.
- 9:37Speaker 3: That should show you just how tough you know your
- 9:39Speaker 3: hindustry is. He accepts that challenge. There's not going to
- 9:43Speaker 3: be He believes in his speed, he believes in his
- 9:45Speaker 3: skill set. So you know, and if you kick him off,
- 9:48Speaker 3: he don't come after you. So I don't see him
- 9:51Speaker 3: having any issue with being able to play at a
- 9:54Speaker 3: high level. Whether it's the bottom of the NFL or
- 9:58Speaker 3: the top of the NFL, He'll rise to the occasion
- 10:00Speaker 3: and he'll make it easy for you, you know, as
- 10:03Speaker 3: a coach.
- 10:04Speaker 1: So you've been doing this for a long time, sir.
- 10:06Speaker 1: How much pride do you take in Emmanuel Henderson and
- 10:09Speaker 1: Cody White Ricky White, players you've recruited, given them an
- 10:13Speaker 1: opportunity in college football to then become in the NFL.
- 10:16Speaker 1: And and what kind of moment is that for you
- 10:18Speaker 1: when guys like Emmanuel Henderson get drafted.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Everything.
- 10:23Speaker 7: I didn't get into this job for the money. I
- 10:26Speaker 7: got to get into this job to coach players and
- 10:30Speaker 7: get them from point A to point B with efficient technique,
- 10:34Speaker 7: you know, helping them.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I mean, the the the drugs, so to speak for me,
- 10:39Speaker 3: is seeing a kid take a concept and master it
- 10:41Speaker 3: and mode it and make it here. When you when
- 10:44Speaker 3: you see that, I mean, that's that's fun, you know.
- 10:47Speaker 3: And then they come back and they tell you how
- 10:49Speaker 3: coach that works, you know, and you just made a
- 10:51Speaker 3: DV look bad. I mean, that's that's a drug. That
- 10:53Speaker 3: you can't, you know, you can't get enough of And
- 10:56Speaker 3: so the other component of seeing them mature as individuals
- 11:00Speaker 3: and being able to start them on their Instagram, see
- 11:03Speaker 3: their family, you know, seeing me become the good husbands
- 11:06Speaker 3: and you know, good dads and stuff like that, those
- 11:08Speaker 3: are that's why I got into this game. So it's
- 11:13Speaker 3: it's so thrilling for me to be able to sit
- 11:15Speaker 3: back and see these guys, you know, all the guys
- 11:17Speaker 3: that I've been able to coach and give them to
- 11:19Speaker 3: the league. I like to say I helped a lot
- 11:21Speaker 3: of guys get some money, but anybody pay me, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 3: I like to I need a trip to a year
- 11:27Speaker 3: for something, you know. But I mean to say, those
- 11:30Speaker 3: those guys are all doing well and I can't do
- 11:32Speaker 3: nothing to be proud of them. And like I said,
- 11:34Speaker 3: I tell them all they say, the only thing I
- 11:36Speaker 3: want from the is the jersey I'm to put up
- 11:37Speaker 3: on the wall.
- 11:39Speaker 6: Last thing for me, coach, what kind of development did
- 11:42Speaker 6: you see from Emanuel throughout the season that the Seahawks
- 11:46Speaker 6: may not even recognize yet?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Well, you know, I mean, like I said, we put
- 11:51Speaker 3: a lot on it. I mean, and we expect that
- 11:54Speaker 3: guys to study, have a really good feel for the
- 11:58Speaker 3: game Flan before practice, you know. So what you don't
- 12:01Speaker 3: see is how prepared that guy was, how quickly he
- 12:05Speaker 3: came in to our office and understood it and maximized
- 12:10Speaker 3: it and became a leader. You know. That's a quick
- 12:13Speaker 3: turnaround to ask the guy to come from another system
- 12:17Speaker 3: to come in kick it all up, and then all
- 12:19Speaker 3: of a sudden he's the leader. That's impressionable, and so
- 12:24Speaker 3: what he's going to be able to do is there's
- 12:26Speaker 3: nothing about that playbook, the seattle that's going to throw
- 12:29Speaker 3: him off. He'll be able to pick that up and
- 12:31Speaker 3: then use this speed to the best of his ability.
- 12:34Speaker 3: But that's the biggest thing you deal with with the
- 12:36Speaker 3: guys like this. After you get out of the h
- 12:38Speaker 3: being in the NFL, you have speed, you have ability.
- 12:41Speaker 3: You google long and go out there and make a fluck.
- 12:45Speaker 3: You'll go and they to play pretty quickly.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Terrence, I wanted to ask you.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I've always wondered this the changing landscape of college football.
- 12:53Speaker 2: As a position coach.
- 12:55Speaker 1: How involved do you get in having to re recruit
- 12:58Speaker 1: guys that are already on your team to keep them
- 13:00Speaker 1: from leaving in the portal even during a season. And
- 13:03Speaker 1: then how much do you have a say in whom
- 13:06Speaker 1: you get your program gets in the portal or is
- 13:09Speaker 1: that a head coach decision that maybe you don't have anything,
- 13:13Speaker 1: they just hand you the players that are coming in.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Or how much are you involved in the process of
- 13:17Speaker 1: recruiting transfer portal players into your program.
- 13:21Speaker 3: They have to be one hundred percent into it. I
- 13:23Speaker 3: mean it's a group effort, don't get me wrong, but
- 13:25Speaker 3: we're not the NFL model yet we have to be
- 13:28Speaker 3: able to, you know, look at the players that are
- 13:32Speaker 3: in the portal as that have interers and then see
- 13:34Speaker 3: if it shiits. I mean, are they selfish? Are they
- 13:39Speaker 3: willing to come in there and learn? Are they expected
- 13:40Speaker 3: to come in here and start? You know, so you
- 13:43Speaker 3: have all those conversations with these players in the portal
- 13:45Speaker 3: and you try to figure out would they say in
- 13:47Speaker 3: your program, Because if you come in and you're mouth
- 13:50Speaker 3: content and you're wasting time getting better and put yourself
- 13:54Speaker 3: on the field, if you come in like you Manuel
- 13:56Speaker 3: Henderson did, he learned, he understood, he into the culture,
- 14:01Speaker 3: and he made the most out of his opportunities. That's
- 14:03Speaker 3: what should be happening in the portal But to answer
- 14:06Speaker 3: your question just more readily, I mean, the biggest state
- 14:08Speaker 3: for us is we need to all be on the
- 14:10Speaker 3: same page with what we see in the portal. We
- 14:12Speaker 3: need to or whatever it may be. We need to
- 14:14Speaker 3: recruit them and we need to you know, show them.
- 14:16Speaker 7: That we can develop them and then get them in
- 14:19Speaker 7: the program, get them going.
- 14:20Speaker 3: The players that we have on the team that you're
- 14:24Speaker 3: trying to keep. Yes, it doesn't start right after the
- 14:27Speaker 3: seasons over as far as we recruiting them. You have
- 14:29Speaker 3: to identify those players and know that they can help
- 14:32Speaker 3: you lay on or further on in next year or whatever.
- 14:35Speaker 3: You reclus those guys the year before you know it.
- 14:40Speaker 3: It's your rhythm and it's your chemistry. It's how you
- 14:42Speaker 3: treat the players. It's you know, how they do they
- 14:45Speaker 3: feel like they're getting better? Do they feel like you
- 14:47Speaker 3: care about them? If they feel like they're getting better
- 14:50Speaker 3: and they feel like you care about them, then they'll
- 14:52Speaker 3: stand with you. It's you know, it's when those guys
- 14:55Speaker 3: feel like you know, you're not standing with them, you're
- 14:57Speaker 3: not loving them, or you're not develop them. Yeah, they
- 15:00Speaker 3: want to go to somewhere the place and they would
- 15:01Speaker 3: go to try to find some more money.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Coach, I know you're busy.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I really appreciate you joining us while you're on the
- 15:07Speaker 1: road recruiting in Texas. And it sounds like Emmanuel Henderson
- 15:09Speaker 1: Osio Jersey to frame in your office there in Lawrence.
- 15:13Speaker 3: The better be coming.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Thank you, sir, b Well, all the best to the
- 15:17Speaker 1: Jayhawks there. Terrence Samuel, longtime veteran college coach, receivers coach
- 15:23Speaker 1: at the University of Kansas. He's talking about Seahawks six
- 15:27Speaker 1: round draft choice Emmanuel Henderson. He talked right off the
- 15:30Speaker 1: top about how polished he was coming into the Kansas
- 15:33Speaker 1: program after three years at Alabama where he didn't play
- 15:36Speaker 1: a lot because of the they had first round picks,
- 15:38Speaker 1: as he alluded to, on that team, a national championship
- 15:41Speaker 1: contending team, and they'd have a ton of film on
- 15:44Speaker 1: him either and he showed up, and he talked about
- 15:47Speaker 1: Coach Samuel talked about how Emmanuel Henderson showed up with
- 15:51Speaker 1: the right attitude and the willing to merge into traffic
- 15:54Speaker 1: in the Kansas program and the willingness to do anything
- 15:56Speaker 1: on the field. Obviously special teams, gunner, pot returner, kickoff returner,
- 16:02Speaker 1: kickoff coverage, and be the number one receiver for Kansas
- 16:05Speaker 1: team and went to a bowl game last year, and
- 16:08Speaker 1: he said the selflessness that impressed the hell out of
- 16:11Speaker 1: the coaching staff at Kansas, and he thinks that's as
- 16:14Speaker 1: much as anything else, his competitiveness and his zeal to
- 16:16Speaker 1: get better is going to be what makes him in
- 16:18Speaker 1: great stead with the Seahawks offense. He said that there's
- 16:21Speaker 1: nothing in the playbook that he's not going to be
- 16:23Speaker 1: ready for after playing at Alabama, and that pedigree, he
- 16:26Speaker 1: thinks is going to really put him in good stead.
- 16:28Speaker 1: He also said it Emanuel Anderson Junior osie a jersey
- 16:32Speaker 1: so we can hang it in his office there in Kansas.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So our thanks to him. Yeah, the reason for the
- 16:36Speaker 1: background noise or whatever he's been on airport or whoever
- 16:38Speaker 1: he was these guys this time of year recruiting on
- 16:42Speaker 1: the college trail to get more players and not even
- 16:46Speaker 1: counting the transfer portal on top of all that. Interesting
- 16:49Speaker 1: thanks for chrisoher lenning them up. But it's interesting to
- 16:51Speaker 1: hear a coach who can recite the path he knows.
- 16:54Speaker 1: He's had college players become pros before, he knows what
- 16:58Speaker 1: it takes get in the NFL sounds like Seahawks might
- 17:01Speaker 1: have a good one and competitiveness and Emmanuel Henderson.
- 17:05Speaker 8: I think so.
- 17:07Speaker 6: It's always good when your coach can go into the
- 17:09Speaker 6: details about everything you're doing on and off the field
- 17:12Speaker 6: and the type of player he is, right, you know,
- 17:15Speaker 6: he talked about his route running and his ability to
- 17:17Speaker 6: use his speed. I granted he's going to be behind
- 17:20Speaker 6: some talented receivers in the Seahawks, but he definitely has
- 17:22Speaker 6: a shot to make an impact and it'll be interesting
- 17:24Speaker 6: to see the impact he does make, whether it's rookie
- 17:28Speaker 6: minnie camp, training camp, hopefully on that preseason opportunities and
- 17:32Speaker 6: into the regular season.
- 17:34Speaker 1: If you missed our interview with the coach of Emmanuel
- 17:36Speaker 1: Henderson at Kansas, you can download it on the iHeartRadio
- 17:39Speaker 1: app nine through three KGr dot com and our discussion
- 17:42Speaker 1: of the Seahawks potential bidders multiple ones now reported by
- 17:45Speaker 1: Sportco to buy the Seahawks with our discussion of that
- 17:49Speaker 1: for the first hour of the show. Coming up is
- 17:51Speaker 1: your chance to be a part of the show four nine,
- 17:53Speaker 1: four or five one. A lot of things on the
- 17:54Speaker 1: Tacoma Dodge text line from you about the Seahawks sale
- 17:58Speaker 1: about the concern of out of town buyers, which they're
- 18:02Speaker 1: going to have some. I mean, no matter who ends
- 18:05Speaker 1: up buying them, they want to seek multiple bidders and
- 18:07Speaker 1: chances are they're not all going to be from the
- 18:09Speaker 1: Pacific Northwest. You get a chance to be a part
- 18:11Speaker 1: of the show next. Ian Fernass is back in today.
- 18:13Speaker 1: We'll be talking to him at eleven forty five, heading
- 18:15Speaker 1: into his show twelve to three on ninety three point
- 18:17Speaker 1: three KJRFM.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Welcome back, Greg.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Best Show with Christopher Kidd rolls on here on ninety
- 18:25Speaker 1: three point three KJRFM. We just talked to Terrence Samuel,
- 18:27Speaker 1: the wide receivers coach from Kansas. He's the position coaching
- 18:31Speaker 1: college for the Seahawks six round pick Emmanuel Henderson Junior.
- 18:35Speaker 1: If you missed that interview, you can go to nine
- 18:37Speaker 1: three three KJR dot com and find it or the
- 18:40Speaker 1: iHeartRadio app. You know what time it is with the music,
- 18:43Speaker 1: it means it's time for you to be a part
- 18:45Speaker 1: of the show.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Reading back your.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Text on the Tacomma Dodge text line four nine four
- 18:48Speaker 1: five to one.
- 18:49Speaker 6: Well, speaking of the interview, Greg, this is from the
- 18:51Speaker 6: four two five these interviews with Seahawk well not the
- 18:55Speaker 6: Sea Hawk draft coaches, but college coaches are great.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Does it meani?
- 18:59Speaker 6: They all seem to have the same passion and care
- 19:01Speaker 6: for their players. They also seem to have great personalities.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Coincidence the Hawks target coaches and their draft evaluation process. Also,
- 19:09Speaker 6: if as an owner, you can please Boston fans, you
- 19:13Speaker 6: can probably please Seattle fans.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Good point there.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Yes, to answer the question, the Seahawks scouts go probably
- 19:21Speaker 1: first to the college position coach, not the head coach,
- 19:24Speaker 1: not the coordinator. They go to the position coach, and
- 19:28Speaker 1: probably the first question they asked, I would guess one
- 19:31Speaker 1: of the first questions they asked Terrence Samuel with Kansas
- 19:34Speaker 1: was why did you get him from Alabama? What was
- 19:36Speaker 1: it about him that you wanted him out of the
- 19:38Speaker 1: portal to come to Kansas?
- 19:41Speaker 2: And then the.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Competitiveness was probably the second question, or maybe the first.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Can you tell us about his competitiveness? How did it
- 19:47Speaker 1: show up on and off the field. But yes, the
- 19:50Speaker 1: college position coaches are instrumental and how the Seahawks draft
- 19:54Speaker 1: board shakes out. It's why Chris and I track these
- 19:57Speaker 1: dudes down because we know they are the point man
- 20:00Speaker 1: for the Seahawks scouting process. Now, as I mentioned, because
- 20:04Speaker 1: of their emphasis on these intangibles about a competition, the
- 20:07Speaker 1: Seahawks go to dorm ras, teachers, guidance counselors, back to
- 20:12Speaker 1: high school principles they do.
- 20:15Speaker 2: This takes a long time.
- 20:17Speaker 1: It's an investment to be a scout in the NFL
- 20:20Speaker 1: for the Seahawks in particular, because of all they want
- 20:23Speaker 1: off the field on those players.
- 20:26Speaker 6: All right, Greg and Kidd, what is your opinion on
- 20:30Speaker 6: establishing establishing some penalty against a base player on a
- 20:34Speaker 6: second basising baseball player? Okay, Yes, it's been part of
- 20:38Speaker 6: the game for a long time, but it's definitely cheating. Well,
- 20:43Speaker 6: in the totality, it is cheating. It'll be extremely hard
- 20:46Speaker 6: to prove, but sometimes it's blatant. Curious to hear your
- 20:48Speaker 6: thoughts and what type of penalty would you put on them?
- 20:52Speaker 2: Chris, Wow, you don't put it on me, right? Okay?
- 20:56Speaker 2: I mean.
- 20:58Speaker 6: I think if you can come to the owners with
- 21:01Speaker 6: this discussion and.
- 21:02Speaker 8: They all jump on board, I think that'd be the
- 21:05Speaker 8: first step.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Penalty wise.
- 21:08Speaker 8: What's a good penalty in baseball?
- 21:12Speaker 1: The trash cans got some of those guys got suspended
- 21:15Speaker 1: aj Hinton manager.
- 21:16Speaker 6: No base dealing, though I don't know if that should
- 21:18Speaker 6: be like maybe a fine, I think would I'm thinking
- 21:21Speaker 6: of money wise.
- 21:21Speaker 4: I'm thinking a fine would be.
- 21:23Speaker 1: We're talking like Josh Naylor at second base, win milling
- 21:26Speaker 1: his arms to the batter from second base because he
- 21:29Speaker 1: can see the pitch grip, the pitcher's grip on the ball,
- 21:32Speaker 1: or he thinks he has the sign.
- 21:33Speaker 6: Oh, now, okay, maybe a suspension of a couple. This
- 21:38Speaker 6: is an interesting one.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I will I will tell you that Baseball.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Well, my opinion is baseball will nip at the edges
- 21:46Speaker 1: of this and maybe if it becomes an uproar, do
- 21:51Speaker 1: something about like the Josh Naylor waving his arms like
- 21:53Speaker 1: he's a human windmill. They've already nipped at the edges
- 21:57Speaker 1: of this with the base coaching we mentioned. I think
- 21:59Speaker 1: it was one or two weeks ago they changed the
- 22:02Speaker 1: base coaches. The ruling is, if you go to a
- 22:04Speaker 1: Mariners game, any baseball game, but a Mariners game, they
- 22:07Speaker 1: have a white bracket left of third base and right
- 22:11Speaker 1: of first base that had been there for centuries, I
- 22:14Speaker 1: mean as long as the game has been there pretty much,
- 22:16Speaker 1: and they never enforced those base coaches being inside those
- 22:21Speaker 1: They base coaches used to set almost halfway to home
- 22:23Speaker 1: plate from third base. Why because they were getting the
- 22:27Speaker 1: best angle to see into the glove of the pitcher's grip,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and then they were tipping off the hitters with a
- 22:32Speaker 1: sign or verbal before the pitch came in. And then
- 22:36Speaker 1: Baseball said, okay, we'll fix that. We're going to enforce
- 22:38Speaker 1: this box. And we talked about bustn or Only saying
- 22:41Speaker 1: that part of the Red Sox problems, that Boston was
- 22:44Speaker 1: notorious for doing this with their base coaches, and that
- 22:47Speaker 1: they Buster Only says that people around baseball think the
- 22:51Speaker 1: part of the reason the Red Sox are in last
- 22:52Speaker 1: place is.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Because the baseball put the base coaches.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Back in the base box, in the coaching box, and
- 22:58Speaker 1: that eliminated the Red Sox ability to steal pitchers grips
- 23:02Speaker 1: and tip off hitters. That's what Buster already report has
- 23:05Speaker 1: we we talked about it. So they are trying to
- 23:07Speaker 1: get nip at the edge of this. But this has
- 23:11Speaker 1: been Chris sign Stealing has been a part of baseball
- 23:13Speaker 1: for as long as I've been watching it for fifty years.
- 23:17Speaker 1: It's just what it is. If you get it great
- 23:20Speaker 1: now blatant banging on drums and using video from centerfield
- 23:23Speaker 1: cameras like the trash Cans did, that's different. Okay to me,
- 23:28Speaker 1: that's where the line drawed. But if you organically on
- 23:30Speaker 1: the field do it from second base, tell your pitcher
- 23:33Speaker 1: not to tip his pitches.
- 23:35Speaker 6: That's exactly what the two five to three texted in.
- 23:37Speaker 6: It's not cheating at all. Stealing signs not the problem.
- 23:39Speaker 6: Do better at hiding your signs.
- 23:42Speaker 5: It's true.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Okay, okay, I think in regards to people on the
- 23:46Speaker 1: field picking it up now, you can also draw a
- 23:50Speaker 1: line between coaches who are not participating in the game actively,
- 23:53Speaker 1: base coaches and the players who are on the base paths.
- 23:56Speaker 1: To me, that's another line to cross, and Baseball said, no, no,
- 23:59Speaker 1: weren't going to have kick coach is doing this, But yeah, okay.
- 24:04Speaker 6: So at the ten forty five segment, reag and I
- 24:08Speaker 6: talked about Draymond Green going after Charles Barkley, and I
- 24:12Speaker 6: don't know if this text was a joke or they
- 24:13Speaker 6: were dead serious, but from the three six to oh,
- 24:16Speaker 6: Draymond was Defensive Player of the Year in twenty seventeen.
- 24:18Speaker 6: Run you're kind of disrespecting him right now, Greg, And
- 24:21Speaker 6: I don't know is that are you joking? Because we
- 24:25Speaker 6: can go bar for bar and bring these guys statistics
- 24:28Speaker 6: together if you erase the four champions, which I know
- 24:30Speaker 6: is kind of unfair to Draymond.
- 24:31Speaker 1: But player the player, Charles Barkley washing them. Draymond Green
- 24:36Speaker 1: did not win the championships for the Warriors.
- 24:38Speaker 8: He just happened to be a part.
- 24:39Speaker 1: It was part of a championship team, much like anybody
- 24:42Speaker 1: else on a roster would be part of a championship.
- 24:44Speaker 6: No, Shay, we're just being real here because Draymond own
- 24:47Speaker 6: I mean rings you got there?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Chuck? Oh, I count four of my fingers. They always
- 24:52Speaker 2: do it.
- 24:52Speaker 6: Just it makes me so mad sometimes because I don't
- 24:54Speaker 6: get it, Like do do point guards at one championship
- 24:58Speaker 6: be like, hey, I'm Alan Iverson. Oh I know you was,
- 25:00Speaker 6: you know, one of the greatest of all time. You
- 25:02Speaker 6: transcended the game, but you ain't got no rings man.
- 25:05Speaker 6: You got you got one w against the Lakers in
- 25:08Speaker 6: the finals. Do people do that to AI?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Now?
- 25:10Speaker 6: Granted you don't come on TV every week and talk basketball,
- 25:13Speaker 6: but why are we so negative towards Charles I don't
- 25:17Speaker 6: understand it, Like, what did he do outside of just
- 25:20Speaker 6: being himself on TV sharing his opinion?
- 25:23Speaker 8: Katie, don't like him. It's just annoying.
- 25:25Speaker 1: He was a great, great player. He was six' four
- 25:28Speaker 1: leading THE nba and. Rebounding come, on he was An
- 25:32Speaker 1: All american At auburn and we're rebounding and scoring.
- 25:36Speaker 2: At six feet. Four he had. Gyle he was.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Brash that was part of his, personality as part of
- 25:42Speaker 1: his stick when he was on the. Court but, yeah
- 25:45Speaker 1: that's not this. Guy wasn't some tomato. Can he was
- 25:50Speaker 1: a fabulous, player but one of THE i think he
- 25:53Speaker 1: was named of The All center Here all Fifty year
- 25:55Speaker 1: team for THE. Nba, yeah Crazy seahawk ownership. Questions there
- 26:01Speaker 1: are a lot of people that are worried about the
- 26:02Speaker 1: fact that the potential bidders are not From. Seattle and
- 26:07Speaker 1: we get, that and we talked about. That The london
- 26:11Speaker 1: thing is an interesting. Angle nttal is reported By Sporty
- 26:15Speaker 1: go to be the primary investor in that. Bid the
- 26:18Speaker 1: report said he would remain In. London, Well grosspick would
- 26:21Speaker 1: come out from The East coast and live at least
- 26:23Speaker 1: part time In. Seattle but there's history of all kinds
- 26:27Speaker 1: of sports teams that are owned by owners who are
- 26:31Speaker 1: not living in the cities they play. In, heck The
- 26:34Speaker 1: fenway group which owns The Red, sox owns Man, United
- 26:37Speaker 1: Manchester United's Premier league team In. Britain british hate, that
- 26:42Speaker 1: and The manchester citizens hate. That but it's not unheard.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Of in, fact it's probably more common than that that
- 26:49Speaker 1: teams are owned by people who made their money elsewhere
- 26:52Speaker 1: and don't live in the. Cities, now it doesn't make
- 26:54Speaker 1: you exactly organic with your fan and your fan. Base
- 26:58Speaker 1: and there are, again there are many many people here
- 27:02Speaker 1: In seattle who could get together the corporate wealth it's
- 27:06Speaker 1: here and put together a bit and that may still.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Happen this is still very early in the process that
- 27:10Speaker 1: will probably last through the end of the.
- 27:12Speaker 8: Year all, right this one is from was it three
- 27:18Speaker 8: to six?
- 27:18Speaker 2: To oh? Yeah all?
- 27:20Speaker 6: Right from three to? Six zho stealing signs the same
- 27:23Speaker 6: thing as a defensive. Lineman listen to the call in
- 27:25Speaker 6: the huddle because the quarterback is, yelling it's not the
- 27:28Speaker 6: other team's. Fault protect your play Pitch another interesting point.
- 27:31Speaker 6: There all, Right, okay do.
- 27:34Speaker 1: We need to bring up this millionaire's tax and how
- 27:38Speaker 1: what's just the one on here about ten? Percent why
- 27:42Speaker 1: would you buy a team and you're going to lose
- 27:44Speaker 1: ten percent of? Taxes do people realize that if you.
- 27:48Speaker 2: If you can find That, chris we can read.
- 27:49Speaker 1: It but do people realize that the people who buy,
- 27:54Speaker 1: well first of, all the people who sign multimillion dollar
- 27:57Speaker 1: free agent contract tens of, millions sometimes hundreds of millions
- 28:00Speaker 1: of dollars aren't worried about. Taxes and most of the
- 28:04Speaker 1: states in The union they pay. Taxes california has the
- 28:07Speaker 1: highest tax rate in the. Country you don't see. That people, say,
- 28:10Speaker 1: No i'm not going to sign with The rams of
- 28:12Speaker 1: forty nine ers because of. That here's the tax and
- 28:14Speaker 1: the two five to.
- 28:14Speaker 6: THREE i have a bigger concern for our sports franchises
- 28:17Speaker 6: the taxes and political circumstances Of seattle and the. State
- 28:20Speaker 6: IF i were a millionaire, ATHLETE i wouldn't want to
- 28:22Speaker 6: touch the state Of. WASHINGTON i could sign, elsewhere and
- 28:25Speaker 6: that lose ten percent of my.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Mind, Right and it's very hard for us to relate
- 28:29Speaker 1: to a millionaire athlete because these millionaire athletes don't make
- 28:31Speaker 1: one million and one.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Dollars do you know the minum minimum.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Salary and all professional sports is at least a million
- 28:38Speaker 1: million point, Two so they're not making a buck over one.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Million they're making tens and hundreds of millions of dollars
- 28:44Speaker 1: over one. Million so the millionaire's tax is just a.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Sliver it's sometimes what people would donate to. Charity SO
- 28:54Speaker 1: i just don't see. It, Yeah florida doesn't have, It texas,
- 28:58Speaker 1: okay but by and, large everywhere else. Does and players
- 29:03Speaker 1: do not sign if The. Sea let me put it this,
- 29:06Speaker 1: way if The seahawks are offering somebody two hundred million
- 29:09Speaker 1: dollars to sign In, seattle if someone is worth two
- 29:12Speaker 1: hundred million dollars and that's the highest bid they, get
- 29:16Speaker 1: they're not going to, say, well ten percent of that
- 29:17Speaker 1: is going to, tax So i'm not.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Signing, no that's.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Not how it.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Works players that have that much in, owners especially if
- 29:28Speaker 1: you're talking billions billionaires of, owners they're not worried about.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Taxes they have accountants that have been dealing with their
- 29:35Speaker 1: taxes the whole time they've been. Rich it's different FOR
- 29:38Speaker 1: us rank and file people who don't make hundreds of
- 29:40Speaker 1: millions of dollars to consider that ten percent of your
- 29:43Speaker 1: income would go to a.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Tax, yeah that's.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Things it doesn't.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Sting the guy who's worth fourteen and a half billion,
- 29:50Speaker 1: dollars a minority investor in the forty nine ers who
- 29:52Speaker 1: might buy.
- 29:53Speaker 2: The, seahawks he didn't care about.
- 29:55Speaker 4: That he's paying thirty percent tax In.
- 29:57Speaker 1: California washington looks like a picnic to him compared To.
- 30:02Speaker 1: California just the, perspective we can't relate to. It so,
- 30:09Speaker 1: yeah it just trusts. Me i've been in this job
- 30:14Speaker 1: for twenty five, years dealing with millionaires and billionaires and
- 30:16Speaker 1: owners and players and taxes is almost never ever comes,
- 30:20Speaker 1: up almost never. Ever and it came up a couple
- 30:23Speaker 1: of years. Ago who was the cornerback who signed From.
- 30:27Speaker 1: JACKSONVILLE i can picture, him And i'm forgetting he chose
- 30:31Speaker 1: The seahawks over the forty nine Ers, jenkins and he
- 30:35Speaker 1: mentioned that the forty nine ers offered in The seahawks
- 30:38Speaker 1: offer were almost together the, same but because there was
- 30:41Speaker 1: no income tax In, seattle he Chose. Seattle but that's
- 30:43Speaker 1: what like offers and a guy who was not at
- 30:46Speaker 1: the top of his, Pace gale at the top of
- 30:48Speaker 1: the cornerback market. Rarity i'm just saying it does not
- 30:52Speaker 1: happen all that. Often it's just new to us because
- 30:54Speaker 1: this hasn't been we haven't had an income tax In.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Washington i'm not trying to get political at. All i'm
- 30:59Speaker 1: trying to give you the perspective of players and owners
- 31:03Speaker 1: who don't see it the way we. Do because they
- 31:05Speaker 1: we can't see it the way they, do don't we
- 31:07Speaker 1: can't relate to. That all, Right i'll step off my.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Soapbox two five. Three seahawks aren't going Anywhere as A packers,
- 31:19Speaker 1: FANS i despise The seahawks and their bandwagon, fans but
- 31:23Speaker 1: The seahawks have a huge footprint in The northwest and
- 31:26Speaker 1: they sell out almost every. Game in, fact they sell
- 31:29Speaker 1: out every game and have a wait list for season
- 31:31Speaker 1: ticket holders that is about ten. Thousand in, fact The
- 31:34Speaker 1: Blue pride List keith two five. Three it makes zero
- 31:39Speaker 1: sense to move a franchise like The. Seahawks doesn't matter
- 31:41Speaker 1: where the owner is from anything else on that.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Correct all?
- 31:51Speaker 1: Right The Mayor Maple valley is back in the. House
- 31:56Speaker 1: a grand re entrance FOR i. Forredess he joins us
- 31:59Speaker 1: next the ninety three point three kJ, Rfm welcome back
- 32:19Speaker 1: to the. Show thank you for. Listening Greg, bella The News,

- 32:29Speaker 1: or nine three THREE kgir dot com find that interview.
- 32:33Speaker 1: There and what was most interesting to me was when he,
- 32:35Speaker 1: said well he's From. Alabama he knows what he's doing
- 32:39Speaker 1: and became very. POLISHED i was just joking With ian
- 32:41Speaker 1: maybe we should say That Emmanuel Henderson, junior the sixth
- 32:44Speaker 1: round pick for The, seahawks is From alabama more than From,
- 32:47Speaker 1: kansas because that seems to be more shaping of.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Him, yeah welcome, back, sir are You i'm, well it's good.
- 32:52Speaker 5: Interview it's good. INTERVIEW i, thought, YEAH i thought any
- 32:56Speaker 5: any question about who prepares guys for THE, nfl if
- 32:58Speaker 5: if It's alabama or, not that was answered that question
- 33:01Speaker 5: in that interview with.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Him.
- 33:03Speaker 5: Uh you, KNOW i Like chris's question about the, speed
- 33:06Speaker 5: like how he's how because everybody's fast when you get
- 33:10Speaker 5: to THE, nfl, Right like everyone's? Fast how do you
- 33:12Speaker 5: use that how to any city's Physical they got some,
- 33:15Speaker 5: DUDES i think they have kind of a three Man
- 33:19Speaker 5: Ricky white the, third his three, Guys Cody white And Emmanuel.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Henderson those are the guys are going to be competing
- 33:25Speaker 5: for that last receiver job slash special team's, job right
- 33:29Speaker 5: The Dreak young. Position, basically, yeah, yeah. YEAH i had
- 33:34Speaker 5: a Doctor Ricky white On friday last week when we were
- 33:37Speaker 5: out at mini. Camp Ricky. Camp good, Dude LIKE i
- 33:40Speaker 5: really enjoyed the conversation with, him and like HE i
- 33:44Speaker 5: just you, KNOW i asked, HIM i, said, like how
- 33:46Speaker 5: different are you today than you were in this position
- 33:49Speaker 5: a year Agoing he's like night and. Day and he,
- 33:52Speaker 5: said part of it is every day in. Practice for
- 33:54Speaker 5: the last, YEAR i went Against Devin. WITHERSPOON i think
- 33:57Speaker 5: that makes you. Better all due respect anybody else coming
- 34:00Speaker 5: in out of, college that guy's, training that guy's on
- 34:03Speaker 5: the job training last year was scout because he had he,
- 34:06Speaker 5: said he got to. Play you, know he Was puka one,
- 34:08Speaker 5: week he's whoever in the next. Week you, KNOW i
- 34:12Speaker 5: mean he's the best receiver on the other team every.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Week and as, such he, said and he, Goes i'm
- 34:18Speaker 5: going Against Devin. Witherspoon sometimes it would be. Job sometimes
- 34:21Speaker 5: it'd Be, reek but most Time i'm going Against Devin
- 34:23Speaker 5: witherspoon and listening to him just chirp me the whole,
- 34:25Speaker 5: time and he, Goes I'm i'm so much better now
- 34:28Speaker 5: THAN i was a year, Ago So i'm excited to
- 34:30Speaker 5: see what HE i think it was a really good
- 34:31Speaker 5: competition for the bottom spot or. Two is probably one
- 34:35Speaker 5: spot available with what they Paid, bobo, Right, yeah LIKE i,
- 34:39Speaker 5: like so it's so cup, Jsn Rashichi, Heat Tory, Horton Tory,
- 34:46Speaker 5: horton And bobbo those five you're only going to keep
- 34:50Speaker 5: it most. Six he usually only keep, Six so there's
- 34:53Speaker 5: one spot for like six. Guys it's always wide, receivers
- 34:56Speaker 5: the most crowded.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Position.
- 34:57Speaker 5: Yeah now they can get a lot of those guys
- 34:59Speaker 5: through probably the practice. Squad Ricky Ricky, White Cody. White
- 35:04Speaker 5: somebody might pick Up Cody white some.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Day he's gotten some game film. Now.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Yeah and and then Obviously henderson's probably he screams practice
- 35:11Speaker 5: squad and when they drafted, him, right just because where
- 35:13Speaker 5: they drafted. Him so good. COMPETITION i mean there's NOT
- 35:16Speaker 5: i don't know if you've if you've done roster roulette
- 35:19Speaker 5: yet or anything like, that BUT i where's the? Competition,
- 35:23Speaker 5: yeah like what spots are really?
- 35:24Speaker 1: AVAILABLE i think safety because of the rotation that McDonald
- 35:29Speaker 1: wants to use, edge rusher behind how.
- 35:32Speaker 5: They use so with, O'Toole Jared, Ivy Jared ivy and those. Guys,
- 35:37Speaker 5: okay and now you've got so let's say one spot at,
- 35:40Speaker 5: safety one spot at edge is, depth maybe depth at.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Linebacker, YEAH i mean they love. O'Connell Yeah i'm. Linebacker, yeah, yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 1: yeah they love, him AND i mean, NIGHT i mean
- 35:54Speaker 1: the top three is still.
- 35:56Speaker 5: Here so So Drake, thomas those three guys are probably Locks.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Donne they, Like, okay could before O'Toole And ivy and
- 36:06Speaker 1: the more of the.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Outside.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Ok and then so offensive, line you drafted a guy
- 36:10Speaker 5: he's In.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Stevens with they re signed and Love Josh jones for
- 36:16Speaker 1: his ability to play both sides with experience and.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Tackle and you probably keep old Of timmy because he
- 36:21Speaker 5: can play. Center he's your backup center unless somebody, emerges,
- 36:24Speaker 5: right maybe somebody emerges. There, like but tight, end you're
- 36:29Speaker 5: you're almost two, full, right yes you. Are you've got
- 36:33Speaker 5: too many guys almost running back depth sort of now
- 36:40Speaker 5: that they've.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Drafted Both, stevens by the, WAY i Don't Christian haynes
- 36:43Speaker 1: IS i don't. Know i'm not saying he's a, lock He's.
- 36:46Speaker 5: They probably rather keep A richmond or A cable dooing those.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Guys but running, back you've Got George hollani coming, Back
- 36:51Speaker 1: you've Got kenny McIntosh coming back in off. Injury now
- 36:55Speaker 1: that they've Drafted Jed ai in price number. ONE i
- 36:58Speaker 1: don't Think Emmanuel wilson is an. Absolent they see what
- 37:01Speaker 1: he could he.
- 37:01Speaker 5: Could, Be Marquez Valdaez scantling.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Could, be ALTHOUGH i hope he tries more than DID
- 37:07Speaker 1: i tell you ever tell you a story about His
- 37:09Speaker 1: scantling a summer practice in training camp had a pass
- 37:13Speaker 1: thrown in him that he never saw and went right
- 37:15Speaker 1: past his, helmet and the defensive back right behind him
- 37:17Speaker 1: was so. Shocked If Foudi scantling didn't even try to.
- 37:19Speaker 5: Think we talked about that on the air that. DAY
- 37:21Speaker 5: i think he. CAME i THINK i think it's one
- 37:22Speaker 5: of those times when you just you walked over and,
- 37:24Speaker 5: SEE i gotta tell you, this AND i think we
- 37:26Speaker 5: talked about that on the.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Air, yeah and then he walked back to the.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Huddle, yeah, yeah AND i said to, myself we ain't
- 37:31Speaker 1: seeing him very.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Well when he got. SIGNED i Remember. HUGOES i don't, know,
- 37:34Speaker 5: Man i's not think this guy's going to make the football.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Team so and he just signed with was It dallas
- 37:40Speaker 1: or signed somewhere, AGAIN i mean it was with The
- 37:42Speaker 1: steelers briefly after he left.
- 37:44Speaker 5: Here so it's it's there's a lot OF i just
- 37:47Speaker 5: don't think there's a ton of. CLUMP i, mean the
- 37:49Speaker 5: guys will get, hurt there'll be, injuries, sure but this
- 37:52Speaker 5: is one of the least exciting training camps coming.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Up they've got forty nine of their fifty three guys
- 37:58Speaker 1: on the roster last year, back.
- 38:00Speaker 5: And if you, include you gotta. Include it's a seventy man. Roster,
- 38:02Speaker 5: GREG i don't know if you know it's seventy.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Man i've been made towear they hit one with us last.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Week that.
- 38:10Speaker 5: One Oh, god try out, guys, okay, yeah pull, Up, yeah, No,
- 38:16Speaker 5: no that's not the. Case The so if you, go
- 38:20Speaker 5: was it forty nine of fifty three and then out
- 38:22Speaker 5: of the, seventeen how many guys are back probably thirteen,
- 38:26Speaker 5: ish that sound, right fourteen. Somewhere i'm just.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Guessing, yeah but it probably doesn't at least like he was.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Saying it's.
- 38:34Speaker 1: CRAZY i mean that was their, intent, Right we had
- 38:36Speaker 1: the championship team bringing all.
