[upbeat music] Hey, it's that catchy beat, folks. Means it's time again for Full Spectrum Cycling
• 0:17
here at the old, uh, River West Studios of Everyday Cycles. More importantly, 91.7. [laughs] Show 91.7. Show, show 91.7. Well- True that... a little over halfway through it'll be at 91.7. Right, okay. Right.
• 0:35
[laughs] Or, or 91.5 veering towards 7. Let's just- That was a-... bring it in. If you don't listen to WMSE 91.7, don't listen to our podcast.
• 0:46
Oh, I can't take a picture of Tony's jacket 'cause the phone's doing its thing over there. [sighs] JK can take a picture of- Uh... Tony's jacket. Because it's the greatest radio station of all time.
• 0:57
So this was supposed to be the three Sam show, and we have [laughs]- No Sams. We've, we've lost all our Sams for some reason. Our Sam. We are Samless. We have become Samless. Sam D dropped off his, uh, chumba.
• 1:08
You're, you're covering the, the fun part of it. No, you're still covering the fun part. Well, move the beer to the other side, Tony. [laughs] You can't teach an old dog new tricks, I guess.
• 1:24
Ah, can't do that Au- that Austin Powers. I guess. I'm telling you, what a photographer. What he had to put up with. I [laughs] That was a deep pull. Uh, terribly deep. Anyway.
• 1:36
So after the, after the whole day of the stupid furnace not working and blowing, it's now- It's blowing... blowing that we're doing the show. It's warm. Awesome, eh?
• 1:44
Oh, it's, uh, it was a chilly 18 this morning, wasn't it? So. It was a little chilly. Yeah. Little chilly. I don't know. Little chilly. Don't like it. 18 Fahrenheit, of course.
• 1:52
Yeah, we're not in the old, uh, Celsius neighborhood. Yeah, it was chilly. It's a little warmer. Chilly. I'm dr- I'm dressed for colder, so I was boiling when I got here, so.
• 2:01
Now that they have the, uh, vaccine out there, that wants to live at minus 70 Celsius. Wow. Wow. Yeah, that'd be cold. That'd be cold. I don't think I wanna live with that vaccine.
• 2:13
I'm, we were, Molly and I were discussing the fact, though, I'll bet you that hurts like hell when it enters your body at that temperature. I don't think it has to be at that temperature to- No, they warm it up a little.
• 2:23
Yeah, it- Yeah... that's just for storage, and then it can be whatever period of time. Yeah, like those pats of butter. Yeah. You just gotta rub 'em in your hand a little bit. It's still not gonna be good.
• 2:32
[laughs] It's gonna be months before we're allowed to have the vaccine, I think. I'm okay with that as long as I get it. Mm. Well, there's gonna be another one, too, coming out real soon.
• 2:41
That one doesn't have to be kept at minus 70. That's true. That's true. So. Hope y'all invested well. In Moderna or Pfizer or- Both. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Hey, stock picks here, folks.
• 2:51
Uh, probably should've bought 'em before, though. Might be a little late now. Or if you're a nerd like me and you realize the catastrophe of solar winds this week, you would've bought and sold them last week.
• 3:05
Yeah, what about the, uh, conjunction of Saturn and, and Jupiter? Does, you know, the whole world's gonna end on December 21st. That'd be okay with me.
• 3:13
That would be, uh, what- Compared to the IT hell I've had this week, that'd be okay. I mi- That would be Monday. I miss the Star Hustler. Monday, November. Oh, that guy was great. Mm-hmm. That guy was awesome. Yep.
• 3:23
Well, the, the 21st, folks, it is a good day to see. They will look almost as one- Mm... Jupiter and Saturn. They're very close in the sky right now. Hit the neutral in the tail of a comet, let the vortex pull my weight.
• 3:40
So- Jupiter's eye, Cyclops winks at me. [laughs] Yeah, he knows who's driving. [laughs] Making some progress over at the new space. Oh, nice. They mo- Good... they moved the tapper van right in front of my door.
• 3:55
[laughs] Well, right outside your door, but yeah. Right, right outside the do- That's, that's- I mean, you can open the door and- So wait, that-... walk six feet and get a beer... that van moves on its own power? Yes.
• 4:05
That's impressive. Had to pump up one of the tires, but yeah, it's got- Big deal... some throaty sounding V8 in it. It's actually p- pretty cool. Sounded good, yeah, yeah. [laughs] Smell good? Um, yeah- I mean-...
• 4:14
it wasn't like race gas or anything, but. Yeah, yeah. It's a little shorty, I don't know, what is it? Mid-60s, late-60s Ford. Super short. It r- Is, is it a Ford or is it a Chevy? Whatever. It's just a short body.
• 4:26
It's a little shorty thing. It reminds me of- With, like, what, 12 tappers on the side of it? At least 12. I took a picture of it. Yeah, 12 tappers. I should be able to throw that in the show notes.
• 4:34
It looks like, um, there's this band, uh, called, uh, Drug Sauna. They do all their shows out of a, out of a van that's, with a smoke machine, but, you know. Drug Sauna. Ooh. [laughs] Getting in the van.
• 4:47
Well- It's very kind of Clutch, Fu Manchu- Nice... kind of stuff. Da- Daikaiju dances on top of the van, a, a fire. Goddamn. Oh, yeah. Why'd you bring up Daikaiju? I, that's one of the biggest things I miss about COVID.
• 4:59
Live shows with- Seeing Daikaiju... Daikaiju. [laughs] Not just live shows, but fucking Daikaiju. Any live show. So good. JK's got a, a live show on. What, what, what are you... Oh, Uhen. He's in a- Yeah. Yeah...
• 5:12
he's in a, he's in a band. Yeah. A- apparently. I mean, it was on the books before the, uh, Captain Pabst Pilot House decided to go bye bye- Yep... and they closed the next day. So- Hmm...
• 5:25
I'm anticipating that they still won't. You know, I mean, it's only a couple hour set, and it's normally a rotating crowd audience 'cause they're all kind of taking the tour and whatever. Yeah. You know.
• 5:39
Well, I mean- It's, it's, I don't know. It might be a destination ride. You know. I haven't really been going out to the establishments. It's kind of a goofy time here- Yeah... in Wisconsin, what with- Ind-...
• 5:47
being, like, the third nastiest place to be in the country. They do em- they do employ having it outdoors on many times, so. That would be a good call. So it'll be nice. We're looking for outdoor things.
• 5:59
Speaking of outdoor things, when we can, which maybe will be not too far from now- I did a recon ride around the complex where the new place is gonna be. Uh-huh.
• 6:10
You can do, like, a mile and half course with a good section of it inside the buildings. Nice. [laughs] You'll be able to use the tunnel and go from one building to the other, and
• 6:21
there's many piles, and steps, and columns, and whatnot. [laughs] It's most tranquil. Yeah, it's gonna be cool. I think we're gonna be able to have, like, a series because you could lay out a different course every time.
• 6:31
It'd be- Nice... all self-contained within a two and a half block by two block complex. Awesome- Yeah... complex. Yeah, it's gonna be good. Yeah, that, that's a neat space. It's filling up with folks.
• 6:43
We're getting a bunch of artist types in there, and got the canoe dude. Canoe dude. Canoe du- canoodle doodle. Can you canoe dude? It's the, uh, what? I, I don't know if it's... Or whatever.
• 6:53
It's the, you got kayaks and canoes and such. It's pretty awesome watching Sam ride a wheelie through the place, just like inside wheelies are so cool. [laughs] Inside wheelies. Yeah.
• 7:03
Yeah, wheelies are cool, but when you ride them inside a building, it's cool x10. Sam's Sam to the third power. [laughs] Which end up being zero Sams. Sams to the no powers. That's what occurs. Yeah.
• 7:17
It's just, yeah, it's like a star collapsing in on itself, and just kinda goes into the negative. That's like the Sams say, "Fuck you, Sams." [laughs] Well, one Sam's within stone-throwing distance from here. I know.
• 7:27
He's right across the freaking street. Ah, should've had him come over. I sent him a message. Maybe he still will. [laughs] Hey, uh, got a Moonlander in a box over here. See that? Yeah, I do.
• 7:38
It's like a Moonlander in a box. A Moonlander in a box. Has it been shipided? No, it just had to get taken apart to be frame saver-ded. Oh, nice.
• 7:46
Um, and r- brought up just yet again, I don't know if the Moonlander's more susceptible 'cause people just beat the crap out of them and ride them in junky conditions all the time. But- Talk about stuck...
• 7:57
check your seat post, folks. Check your seat- If you got a steel frame and an aluminum post bike, cracky check that post. I'm so- This one was not quite stuck. It was really close, [laughs] though.
• 8:07
Oh, mine's- If it would've gone another month of winter- Mine's so bad... would not come out. Mine's so bad. Yeah. Oh. We're gonna have to try the lie thing on yours. [laughs] No, I'm not messing up that paint job.
• 8:18
I'm doing the, the, the, um- The reamer? The reamer to try to figure out... Oh, my God. I love that road bike. It's the only road bike I enjoy riding. It's- And the seat's not at the correct position for you?
• 8:33
I, it had a... I'm not gonna- Change the saddle. Maybe you can change the height of the seat enough- I'm not gonna talk about it... to- It's, no, it's way beyond that. Oh. It's gotta come out. Cut the seat post out.
• 8:43
It's gotta come out. Cut it off. Charby. Get one of those old school- Yeah, Charby... Schwinn seat posts or something.
• 8:48
Charby, you're never gonna listen to this podcast, but I bought a seat post from you, and I'm an idiot. [laughs] I love you, Charby, but fuck that seat post. Oh. Bye, cracky.
• 8:59
Well, that's just- It's such a gorgeous paint job on that bike. It is. It's a Reynolds 531- 531... Uni Vega. Just Uni Vega. Just gorgeous paint job. I can't lose it. That would've been one- All right.
• 9:10
Well- Well, I do have the reamer. It just takes like three hours to get through it... I, I'm willing to spend three hours. Just sucks, but- Yeah, just have to take a little bit at a time...
• 9:19
should throw a seat post on that and ride it like a real bike. Yeah... till it doesn't cost me a dime. [laughs] However that goes. That would've been one thing I would've brought up with one of the Sams,
• 9:31
would be that next week, [clears throat] not really advertised, they normally advertise it every year, but destination I'm gonna ride my bike down there, and it's very outdoors-ish over at, you know, he, Nomad World Pub.
• 9:46
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. They normally do the Kung Fu Christmas. Mm. When is it? Sam, Sam kinda just curates a, a healthy, healthy dose of grand, grand kung fu movies. Nice. When is Kung Fu Christmas?
• 10:02
Uh, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Oh, nice. Normally. [clears throat] Oh, sorry. And Chinese food ordered in normally. And- Nice... you know, just- Kiddie?...
• 10:10
gotta, you know, just it's- Nice thing about Nomad is there's a lot of nice Chinese restaurants within a stone's throw... and outdoor. They've cultivated a good outdoor presence- Nice... where you don't,
• 10:23
you don't feel, you don't feel- It's almost like they were expecting COVID. Yeah, [laughs] right. I mean- Or- They've already had it over there... well, do- just rolling with the punches. Many times. You know?
• 10:33
That guy has normally pulled that off. It's like, "Oh, you're throwing this at me." So how do we end up with- Ends up there... zero Sams here? Because, yeah, you get the potential of three, and it pfft. I mean- You know?
• 10:46
2020, man. Every- [laughs] That's how it works. Yeah, it's basically every Sam I know. [laughs] No shit. And that just came up, like, last week, wasn't it? No shit.
• 10:54
It was like, "No, no, you have to differentiate each Sam by- Right... this, that." And then there was a potential of putting all of them, that's where the- That's where everything broke. Yeah.
• 11:03
[laughs] The weight of the threat of three of them [laughs] in the same room. [laughs] One of my Sams- [laughs] Getting very e- existential here. Well- Ooh... maybe we'll see Sam at the top of the hill. I don't know.
• 11:16
All right. I doubt it. We're, we're, we're up there. But I hope so. Top of the- Top of the hill... top, top of the hill there. Top of the hill. Top of the hill. Top of the hill... top of the Terrapin Hill. Yeah, yeah.
• 11:25
Yeah. Straight from Athens, Georgia. Worst hill. Worst hills to be on. JK just, uh, pulled, pulled this one out of the old, uh, sample bin. Yeah, yeah. It was a... They had a couple different 12-packs.
• 11:38
'Tis the season for the variety pack in the liquor stores. And- If you were gonna get together with your family, that's a good call, 'cause not everybody likes the same beer. Oh, exactly. Yeah.
• 11:49
And even as a beer drinker myself, sometimes I just don't want that same one- Yeah, right, right... all, all the time. That's legit. So what have we started with? We have started with the Jazz Cabbage, man. Man.
• 12:02
This is all from the dis- You hep cats, man... this is, uh, th- this is the, uh, Terrapin's, uh- Wait... dispensary pack. Wait, this says pictures of marijuana on it. I can't drink this beer. Man- It's a hemp IPA.
• 12:14
It's a hemp IPA. It is It says... it's a hemp infused IPA with our dankest, is our dankest beer to date.
• 12:24
Packing in our very own special strain of hemp flavors, this IPA will fill the room with aroma of the choicest sticky nugs." It does smell like nugs.
• 12:34
It does definitely smell like- Yeah, you were- [laughs] I would not know anything about this, but it- You were, you were like, "It smells like the marijuana in here."
• 12:40
I, no, I, I- And I was just like, "No, no, no, it does not smell like the marijuana." I have no idea what marijuana smells like.
• 12:44
I think, so the guy next to the shop is a cannabis, hemp cannabis CBD guy grower that's smells an awful lot like weed to me. Oh yeah, for real, for real. It smells- So it might be that smell?
• 12:56
It has that- Yeah, that's like those CBD smoke, cigarettes... yeah, that's what he's gonna make. Yeah... flower. He calls it CBD flower. Yeah. And it can be only.3% THC, but they're on a test batch right now.
• 13:07
[laughs] So it's 23%. Which, which [laughs] which might be a little more. Yeah, I think they're kinda gonna have to dial in their less THC-ness to be licensed. They're not officially licensed yet. [laughs] So,
• 13:21
I don't know, whatever. Yeah, not bad. Yeah. 6%. It's tasty. It's, it's pretty delicious. Yeah, it really is. I like most of Terrapin's beers. Yeah. I like... Yeah, I agree with you.
• 13:31
Yeah, 'cause they, they also do the, uh, Cannibaliss, don't they? Yep. I'm pretty sure they do. They're very big into their cannabis related- Yeah, for real... beverages.
• 13:41
Well, the other one- And then it was just like, yeah, yeah. The other ones in the variety pack are Magic Brownie Ale. Yeah. Which- And Dancing, Dancing Gummy Bear.
• 13:52
[laughs] Which is like a sweet, like a 4% vice- I'm betting these, I'm, I'm betting these brewers have never once touched marijuana in their lives. They're just gleaming onto society. They're marijuana nuts.
• 14:06
Eh, I don't know. I don't know. Glamming? I could be completely wrong. Glening? Glamming? Miami. Glening? I just, I... Oh, one, uh, that one that came out a couple years ago on 4/20, it was The Hopsicu- no.
• 14:22
Hopsicutioner's still around. Yep. The Hemperor. The Hemperor, that was it, and there was a, a tapping at You'll Know Mattie.
• 14:33
[laughs] And as soon as they started cracking the beers, the whole damn bar just smelled- Reeked of marijuana...
• 14:40
reeked like, like everybody just had a bag and just opened it at the same time, and the owner was, just had walked in. And he was like, "What's going on here?" And it's like, like, "What the..."
• 14:50
I mean, he was aware of the event, but not the pungent nature of such. Gotcha, gotcha. And then it would stuck around for a month or two at certain places, and I've- Oh...
• 15:00
that's one of those little, you know, unicorn chasing beers. Like, if it pops up again, I want it. I think it was New Belgium did that one. The Hemperor? The Hemperor. Ah. I'm, I'm pretty sure it was New Belgium.
• 15:10
How are they gonna keep coming up with new names for these things? Maybe- Throw me money, I'll think... smoke, smoke more weed and you'll come up with more names. [laughs] Yeah, man. The Hepinator, The Hembolicious.
• 15:24
[laughs] We can come up with these all night long. True that. [laughs] So we talked about maintaining your steel frame. Do it. Lubing your post and all that fun stuff. Lubing your post. Lube.
• 15:38
I've been throwing the idea around over the holidays- [laughs]... of taking a s- short hiatus from the show. Keep saying this, but- I know... we keep having shows. We keep having shows.
• 15:47
I guess- We were not gonna have that one show, and then fucking Dinardo showed up- Fucking Dinardo... and then turned into a, turned into a show... turned into a show. It was spectacular. Did it? I don't know.
• 15:56
I guess we'll just keep doing shows as long as we can.
• 15:59
I mean, if we have a, we have a week where we have to, you know, I mean, only, you know, Kilroy and a few people are gonna c- you know, be pissed off, but- Yeah, Alroy. Alroy. Sorry. Kilroy, Alroy. [laughs] Kilroy too.
• 16:12
Kilroy's his guy, right? Kilroy's the guy looking over the wall. There we go. Sorry about that Alroy, Kilroy. Kilroy was here. Ah, yeah. [laughs] Um, so next one will be dropping on Christmas, yeah?
• 16:22
If we, yeah, if we go again tomorrow, t- tomorrow. Next week. A, a week from Friday. Today. A week from today is Christmas. Yeah. Merry Christmas, everyone, next week. Hey, next week.
• 16:34
And then the following would obviously be New Year's Day. Yep. So, eh. And I'm sure people are gonna jump in the damn lake, so. Yeah, I was just kinda thinking about that.
• 16:44
Is it actually gonna be a 3,000 person thing, or is it- I don't know. Nah. Well, and even, like, in years past- Are you gonna jump in the lake with a mask on? Is it gonna give you any more protection? Eh, who knows.
• 16:54
Can you, you get, like, one of those, uh, neoprene ones and be like a wetsuit so your face stays warm. Right.
• 16:59
Well, I mean, remember when it was, uh, vortex time and they just kinda cut out that one little area, and then they just kinda put people in in waves? Yep. Like, you get X amount of time. Yeah.
• 17:07
So that's the- It might be that... one thing I could see... might be that, might be that. Yep, yep, yep. I don't think there's gonna be any ice this year. No, no. [laughs] Certainly not.
• 17:15
[laughs] It's, it's been, I mean, it's gonna be 45 degrees again on Monday, so. There were a couple- It's insane... there were a couple snowflakes today. That's gonna be motorcycle moving day.
• 17:22
That was a- I'm telling you right now, we should accumulate a shit ton of property because pretty soon Wisconsin's gonna be Florida. All you people are gonna be bitching about bad winters.
• 17:32
You're gonna be like, "Oh, yeah, we had a bad winter. It was 42." It's gonna be nice. The definition of bad is switching from- I, I rode my motorbike yesterday... winter to- Right? Did you really? Yeah.
• 17:42
It was, you know- 'Cause it was 45 degrees out, right? It was, like, 30 degrees. Yeah. I d- That's no problem. Yeah. I just had to look out for the little slippery patches, but no worries. It started right up.
• 17:53
I wanna make sure the mice don't get to it this year, so it's- What are you on, a 650? Yeah, it's moving to the shop now. Yeah. Sometime next week. Yep, it'll, it'll be stored there.
• 18:04
Probably work on the 500, get that thing running, get it down the road next spring. Yeah. I like it. I like it. Um, holiday lights ride? Is that just a random thing? Yeah.
• 18:18
I'm, I'm just trying to remember from year to- Oh, we did those- What did people used to do? [laughs]... years ago. There's one, there's one on the south side where the whole
• 18:27
stretch of half a mile or something, everybody goes nuts on it. Well, didn't we do that with, um, um- Bill? Bill, didn't we? It was gorgeous. It was so much fun. Yeah.
• 18:38
I mean, and there are little pockets and places that we hit, and they're gonna do, you know, the places that do these lights anyways. Yeah, for sure.
• 18:48
But- I mean, it, it's probably more so this year than others because- Yeah... families get in cars, and they're in their pod, and they can- Mm-hmm... see the festive lights. There's a couple different ones that have...
• 19:00
Like, I know up in Grafton they've got one where you, you enter the parking area, the parking lot, but you drive through this maze of stuff, and it's like all lights and whatnot- Oh... and tunnels and,
• 19:10
uh- And, and there's like pockets- It's like an east, like east empty thing... little pockets of neighborhood. I mean, I know there's always Candy Cane Lane that's been, but that's kinda cliche- Yeah, yeah...
• 19:17
at this point. Sorry. Sorry, West Allis. [laughs] Sorry, Steph. But I mean, like, you know, like down Bay View, same thing.
• 19:25
There are like l- you know, certain little, you know, a block zone that everyone gets together and it's like- Right, right... yeah, let's go crazy. So I've been, audience have seen some of that in
• 19:38
the 4:15 to 4:20, y'all, sunset. Yo. Yeah, we got- [laughs] Uh, well, actually, uh... When would it be? Monday is the shortest day of the year. Oh, Jesus. Oh my God, it's already that point? Yeah. Good- Geez...
• 19:55
'cause it's, like trying to work in the- I, I drove to work in the dark today... trying to work at the new space after 4:00 is tough 'cause- Brutal... there's not any light [laughs] in there.
• 20:03
Sam, shouting out to Sam, one of the Sams that didn't show up- [laughs]... for the three Sam day, helped me carry up a, uh, very large, uh, bathtub to my house in complete darkness. That would be scary. It was pretty...
• 20:18
We had to, you know, we had a flight of stairs to... I had a light on, but it still was not enough to carry up a, you know, 3, 200-ish, X pound- Yeah... bathtub. My, my days of doing that is over. Right? Oh, no.
• 20:33
My, my knee says it, my back says it. My back- Don't be doing that... is- Stupid, stupido... when you described it e- even earlier, my back started eh. Eh, eh. I, I was on... I had to do a move. My...
• 20:45
Remember the old, like rear projection TVs that- Yeah, those suck... like the large...
• 20:49
And you know, like they had like the, the mirror and the cast of ding-da-ding-da-ding, and trying to just move that from one house to next door to another, down like out the front door, down four steps.
• 21:02
And when that ob- you know, monolith is just sitting there like ready to teeter, it would squash me like a fucking grape. That's when- I mean, if my hand just slipped a little bit, we'd go...
• 21:12
I mean, we've, we've got it easy now. Kids, kids these days, they don't know how easy they got it with their 70-inch, 20 pound TVs. Ah, yes. Right. No shit. [laughs] The old- Bunch of lightweights...
• 21:22
the old tube Trinitrons- Yeah... boy, those things were heavy. Oh... they get those, they get those cool moving straps. They don't even ha- need anyone else.
• 21:27
They're just like, "Hello, I can just walk this all down the street." Yeah. Kids these days. Uh- [laughs] Did either of you guys get here early enough to see the guy with all the lights on outside popping and locking?
• 21:38
What the hell was going on there? Was he popping and locking? Yeah. We saw him. I thought it was you- Oh no... 'cause he kept going past the window. I thought it was- As funny as-... I thought it was Tony...
• 21:46
Sam and I thought it was you. No, I was like- As we were walking- 'Cause he was kinda doing the-... to Vladikowski to have a beer... kinda doing the walk down the stairs... So you gotta guess that was the cell phone guy?
• 21:55
Oh, right. [laughs] Yeah, I don't, I don't know what he was. I, uh, there was a, a lady with him filming it and stuff. I, I, I don't know, just weird people on Locust Street, I guess.
• 22:03
I saw a car with like one of, like an old-timey, uh, like news camera mounted on their hood pointed [laughs]
• 22:15
into the, into the damn windshield as I was driving, like s- like, you know, at a stoplight and then just slowly going by. You know, they're filming something, but- Sounds pretty weird... yeah, it was terrifying.
• 22:26
I'm just like, oh. Somebody's making a movie in Milwaukee. I'm going this way. Maybe it's Borchardt or one of those guys. Or it might be. Coven. Coven. Coven 2. Coven. [laughs] I own that on VCR, VHS.
• 22:39
'Cause Coven sounds too much like oven. Right? It's Coven. Put it right in your mouth. Like- Turn it. I, I actually- Like turn it... have a VHS copy- Just keep moving, keep moving your le- arm... of Coven. Like...
• 22:53
Jesus Christ, he's gonna readjust it, folks. All right. I, he readjusted me, folks. So I'm talking about COVID, not Coven. No, I am talking about Coven, not COVID.
• 23:07
And Mark Borchardt's, you know, idea to have this incredible movie that I actually own, which is pretty entertaining. Nice. Nice. It's on that VHS. See? See how much better that sounds?
• 23:18
Doesn't sound any different to me whatsoever. Very directional. [laughs] Just like a per- Can I still drink beer? Yeah, sure. I'm gonna test this out. Stick it in there. No. Stick it right in there.
• 23:27
Stick it right in there. You know what you should do is get a straw. You should get a straw. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. We should get him a real microphone for Christmas.
• 23:35
[laughs] Well, it's a real microphone, Tony, but- I don't want a-... it's not a microphone... a real microphone. And you'd have to- Microphone check... you'd have to make love to it. Microphone check.
• 23:43
You'd have to get your face- Can I get a check up from the neck up?... right up on the microphone, man, and get right in there. Can't believe we're no Sammed. [laughs] All you Sams out there- [laughs]... fail.
• 23:55
[laughs] You know, as, as- We've gone from a triple Sam to a Sam-free day... a- as they were coming up, I kinda had that thought in my head.
• 24:04
I'm like, "You know, it wouldn't surprise me in the least that there'd be none." [laughs] I mean, I, I'm not built-in pessimist, just realist. [laughs] Don't make me no nevermind. Sam free.
• 24:21
Well, we probably said the word Sam- As free as the wind blows... or the name Sam more times than-... any podcast Three times, so obviously- Yeah. [laughs]...
• 24:30
they didn't feel like- Our, our super three X thing didn't work. [laughs] Or if it did, they're all congregating at one place and just bonking into each other. Boing, do, do, do, do, do.
• 24:40
Hey, here's something for all you surfers out there. The 2020 Billabong Pipe Masters has been suspended- Ah... due to COVID-19. Pipe Masters.
• 24:49
The world surf league has decided they suspend the Billabong Pipe Masters, presented by Hydro Flasks, [laughs] blah, blah, lots of stuff. Yep, even the surfers, you know? I mean, sharks, you can't get the sharks.
• 25:02
No COVID down there. Blood in the water. Just gonna throw this out that Daniel's been wearing sharks with scarves pajamas. Sharks with scarves? It's pretty fucking cute.
• 25:14
Vale- Just a- Vale, Vale Mountain reports a quarter one loss. Misses their revenue target. Vale does? That's what it says. Come on. 363 a share they lost. They're way too early for that.
• 25:26
Well, quarter one, I don't know, was that a mountain bike quarter? Hm, okay, good point. I'm not positive. I don't know when their fiscal year starts.
• 25:34
However, I have seen that you can rent whole mountains now if you're of the ultra-rich, just so you can have your COVID pod have a private mountain to go skiing on, if that's your thing. You know- Or snowboardin'.
• 25:47
I'm all for that as long as it includes me kicking them in the nuts as they walk in. [laughs] Just that one time, then they're good. Sorry. [laughs] Sorry. Exercise blocks pain, but only for believers.
• 26:01
A new study explores the links between exercise and pain perception, and how they can be easily manipulated. Pain. I manipulate my pain- Pain... with another can of this fine [laughs] Jazz cabbage here.
• 26:15
Ah, just Jazz cabbage. Jazz cabbage. That is, and- Hey... I like the name. I'm just, it just- It is a good name... it just, yeah. Uh, Wal- Walmart- Devil's Lettuce will be the next one in line.
• 26:28
Hey, Walmart's, Walmart's a good place now 'cause they joined the, uh, People For Bikes coalition. [laughs] Really? Hey, well, Tom Walmart is pretty cool- [laughs]... 'cause he's the guy getting Bentonville on the map.
• 26:40
But the rest of this, the rest of that family can go suck an egg, but Tom's all right with me. No, I just, I don't know.
• 26:46
Burn, you burn your hand on the damn stove enough times, you don't put your fucking hand on the stove anymore, and that's how I deal with any kind of Walmart experience.
• 26:55
To be fair- To be fair- It used, it used to be my place to buy $5 sunglasses until that became unsustainable because- Unsustainable... ah, my brain just about exploded. I had- I have one thing to buy, self-checkout.
• 27:09
Let me through, please. I'll actually go up to the damn self-checkout. I'll go up to the damn self-checkout. I will. I have not- Tyra... been into a Walmart in over 25 years. [laughs] I, I, I, I, I- I'm not quite at-...
• 27:22
envy you. I envy- I'm not quite as good as that... envy you... but I'm really like i- it's over 10. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was there just before Thanksgiving. [laughs] Oh. Well, I mean, sometimes- But they had $1-...
• 27:34
you gotta do it... they, they had $1, uh, bottles of Caribbean jerk marinade. [laughs] That actually worked out pretty well, and I, I've, yeah, I don't know. I'm, I'll use them selfishly for my own culinary needs.
• 27:49
So I haven't- But- I haven't tried it out yet, but I just noticed this morning that Apple Fitness+ now showed up on my watch, so I can do the cycling thing on the TV deal. Oh, Lord. [laughs] Cycling on TV?
• 28:01
What does that mean? I don't get it. Oh. Dang ol', you- You're gonna be all Peloton yelling at you? Well, I got, I got the, uh, the green thing over there. You put your bike on it and then you look at the screen,
• 28:11
and it's supposed to ride for you and everything, I think, or something. Really? Now, here's what I was thinking of doing, putting an electric bike on my trainer.
• 28:18
[laughs] I was just thinking the same thing, and it's just like, "Wow, hey." I've done 85 miles an hour for four hours. I'm going, I'm going like hell over here.
• 28:26
Well, I know some of them, like the, what is it, the He- I don't know, it wasn't Health Rider. It was one of those where they ha- had the, the early tablet and you could, you know, do, like, Tour de France, you know?
• 28:40
Right. Yep. Some, like, you know, and whatever, and it would have a, you know, a, a shot by shot if you paid attention looking at the, the scenery and whatever. So I mean, that was kinda clever. Kinda clever.
• 28:53
But I'd rather just put my ass on my own saddle. Yeah. You know? You know, being outside's all right, too. Yeah. And yeah, yeah. On your bike. Don't worry about it. Yeah, yeah. I hate being outside. What?
• 29:05
I just, I just don't understand why people go outside. Outside. It's just like, it's like fresh air and shit. Why would you want that? So 2020's been a great year for you.
• 29:12
[laughs] I have lived in my basement for eight months. [laughs] Wait, wait. Isn't there something on the notes tonight about the greatest human in the world? Don't think so. Maybe you should refresh. [laughs] Uh, ah.
• 29:30
Because- It's supposed to- There is a comment on things we dig. Scroll down. Scroll. Oh, that's all the way on... It's not, it's in the wrong spot. Ah. [laughs] But- Sven is the greatest human in the world...
• 29:47
Sven is the greatest human in the world because he convinced me to get one of these ridiculous oil-fed
• 29:57
radiators that you put in your basement, and it is exponentially better than any shitty ass ceramic heater blower bullshit that exists. [laughs] Yeah, man.
• 30:12
If you work in your basement, you're, you're gonna want- I, I got this thing this week. I turned it on, and after about 20 minutes I'm like, "I'm a complete idiot. I should've had one of these from day one." Is that,
• 30:25
is that Sve- Sven Peters? Sven. Oh, this Sven. Yeah. [laughs] Ah, yeah, yeah. Sven, that's Sven Universe. And so is your desk, is it in a corner? Uh, it, it is in a corner area.
• 30:36
It's a- Nobody puts- It's, it's- So you could put one on each side then... it's eight feet by- So you put baby in a corner. You put your own baby in a corner... by three feet. It, it is a gorgeous desk space.
• 30:44
But literally I've had heaters, um- You didn't listen to Dirty Dancing... I had all of these types of heaters. Yes. Dirty Dancing was the- Well, yeah. I mean, they give you the tale of cautionary.
• 30:56
[laughs] Putting in this electric boiler thing,
• 31:02
I, I am so toasty now compared to being freaking frigidly cold that, yeah, i- if you have a basement office, now I know COVID might be winding down, but if you have a basement office and you are looking to keep it comfortable,
• 31:23
these little- What did you have to pay for yours? I bought mine s- I used... So I had two of them, and I used them f- originally for keeping epoxy warm in a, a big insulated thing so that the epoxy would cure properly.
• 31:40
And then when I got rid of that, I had these two, and I'm like, "Oh." But I don't remember what they cost. I think mine was- 100 bucks? Not even. Not even. Yeah. Not even. 70 bucks. They're great.
• 31:49
And the amount of heat i- is 600, 900 to 1,500 watt. The, the heat they produce is so comfortable and nice. It's- And it's radiant... it's radiant. Yeah. It's not... Yeah, it, it is gordulious. Oh, thanks, JK.
• 32:07
Ah. Bringing the- JK brought more beer... the, the Jazz Cans. God damn. Yeah. I would join you with one, but there was a pinhole leak in one of the cans- Uh-oh... at home. Did you down it there?
• 32:18
Did you write the company? No. It downed itself. Or you just drank it? Oh, which drove me insane. I was just like- So you bought the six- Short trip... the 12-pack but only got 11 beers out of it? Yeah. Huh.
• 32:27
I mean, I, I- I'd, I'd, I'd write them a note and say, "Your packaging sucks. Send me a 12-pack." [sighs] I am not the- For our podcast. [laughs] Sponsored by Terrapin Beer Company.
• 32:37
So this affords me the opportunity [sniffs] to try the... What is it? It's- Dancing Gummy Bear. Oh, I wanna try one of those. Next. [laughs] This one pairs well with festivals.
• 32:56
Where- It's a 4%-er, so. Whereas the, whereas the Jazz Cabbage pairs well with snacks. Yeah. Wait. Ooh. 4%? [smacks lips] Sour. It's a sour. It's a sour. Oh. Well, I'll be skipping that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 33:08
This is- Oh, JK likes sours. Yeah. I know he does... a Berliner Weisse. Cherry, hemp cherry. [coughs] Well, I probably should've- Whoa. That's heavy... probably should've had that thing. Ah, whatever. All right, folks.
• 33:20
