The Downey booger, also known as the Winston County Wildman, is said to have first appeared in the 1800s, when a group of young men encountered a tall, upright, hairy Wildman while returning home from a dance. The creature frightened their horses, causing them to turn around and find another way home. This creature became known as the Downey Booger.
