- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Get your pens out, bust open writer Duet because we've
- 0:11Speaker 1: got a new episode.
- 0:12Speaker 2: William Faulkner said writing is best done alone. At least
- 0:17Speaker 2: that's what I wrote down that he said. We don't
- 0:20Speaker 2: know if he said that for real, but we also
- 0:22Speaker 2: think he's wrong. Today we're talking to one four person
- 0:27Speaker 2: writing team.
- 0:28Speaker 3: When we're talking about writing, typically writing team means two,
- 0:33Speaker 3: but this time it's four. Now, why don't you think
- 0:36Speaker 3: about that for a moment, So sit.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Back, relax, and let's find a time for all four
- 0:41Speaker 4: of us to meet up to talk process.
- 0:44Speaker 5: Listen in.
- 0:48Speaker 1: It feels so strange to see you guys in this
- 0:51Speaker 1: context because usually it's at coffee shops or my place,
- 0:55Speaker 1: but very rarely with a microphone in front of our face.
- 0:58Speaker 1: You know a.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Lot of times it does look like a zoom, just
- 1:02Speaker 3: like this one. But to have I mean, what even
- 1:05Speaker 3: is this?
- 1:06Speaker 1: It's crazy to me. It's like crazy to me that
- 1:09Speaker 1: they gave us this stuff.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Listening. I was just pointing to a microphone.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, no, yeah, I forgot, because we're filming this too.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It's so different from writing for me. This is just
- 1:22Speaker 1: so different from writing.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so awesome.
- 1:27Speaker 5: No, no, no, it's so awesome, man. Yeah, and I
- 1:33Speaker 5: love it.
- 1:34Speaker 4: When we're at your place, it's usually the day this
- 1:36Speaker 4: street cleaning and it takes us forever and fun.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Parking, Oh gosh, here we go. We're gonna be airing
- 1:41Speaker 1: out dirty laundry.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Call you out.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Because you shouldn't be living in Westwood as an adult.
- 1:49Speaker 3: That's something you leave in college. Okay, so your friends
- 1:52Speaker 3: could find parking?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Oh my god, she said, yeah, yeah, actually, yeah, I
- 1:57Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I tell it like it is. I tell it like
- 1:59Speaker 3: it is.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I'm sorry you guys. Well, we should probably introduce ourselves
- 2:06Speaker 3: to the audience. So we are a four person writing team.
- 2:13Speaker 3: We have all been writing the same screenplay since how
- 2:17Speaker 3: long has it been, twenty eighteen?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah, since right before the pandemic, well, two years before
- 2:23Speaker 1: the pandemic, so right before two.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Years before the pandemic. And so we've been working on
- 2:29Speaker 3: this and it's just grown and evolved, and we are
- 2:34Speaker 3: so excited because we just finished our second pass of
- 2:39Speaker 3: the first draft.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yes, so really, we're really excited.
- 2:43Speaker 1: We're really excited. We're so excited.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Actually, yeah, we're really but that's not all we do.
- 2:51Speaker 3: You know, we are hirable as a four person writing team,
- 2:55Speaker 3: Like we're always looking to be staffed. We are always
- 2:59Speaker 3: putting together their late night packets with each other and
- 3:02Speaker 3: always just for practice person team. Yeah, we are in
- 3:06Speaker 3: a practice of writing monologue jokes every day as well,
- 3:10Speaker 3: just to keep that muscle going. And okay, so so
- 3:15Speaker 3: we'll go around. I am Melissa mick murphy and I
- 3:22Speaker 3: am a writer. I am also an actress, yes, and
- 3:27Speaker 3: during the day, I do social media for Exxon Mobile.
- 3:32Speaker 3: I'm making like really fun content and uh and videos
- 3:37Speaker 3: and and and posts and tweet well not tweets anymore,
- 3:41Speaker 3: but I am just been collaborating with them. It's been
- 3:46Speaker 3: a really awesome collaboration. But of course I am trying
- 3:49Speaker 3: to sell a script like everybody in this town. Uh
- 3:52Speaker 3: so that's me. That's me. I'm Melissa McMurphy.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And sometimes what will do is it's awesome is that
- 3:59Speaker 1: she'll let us help her do some of the work
- 4:01Speaker 1: because like we're such a good four unit, Like we've
- 4:04Speaker 1: all got our own lives going on, but we come
- 4:06Speaker 1: together and write this project together, and it's kind of
- 4:08Speaker 1: like magical and she'll let us like help her out
- 4:10Speaker 1: with some of the exceon mobile stuff, which I think.
- 4:13Speaker 3: It was so amazing to have like a sounding board
- 4:16Speaker 3: and to get like, it's so awesome when I like
- 4:18Speaker 3: text like something, and then like throughout the day, I'll
- 4:23Speaker 3: get like all these other pitches and all these other ideas,
- 4:26Speaker 3: and it's just like amazing to have a four person
- 4:29Speaker 3: writing group.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, it's awesome.
- 4:32Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'm gonna go, and I'm gonna say sorry
- 4:35Speaker 5: about that? Did I?
- 4:36Speaker 3: No?
- 4:36Speaker 2: No, no, go ahead, what's up?
- 4:40Speaker 4: I am Skyla, I'm Skyla Bouten, And I mean we
- 4:45Speaker 4: should be honest here.
- 4:46Speaker 5: I met Melissa on Coffee meets Bagel.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yes, yes, we should be honest. We we used to.
- 4:52Speaker 3: We went on a few dates before we decided we
- 4:55Speaker 3: were better as a writing team.
- 4:56Speaker 5: Yeah, and we were friends.
- 4:58Speaker 4: And that's when I'm everyone here because I've just a
- 5:00Speaker 4: visionary I love I love writing.
- 5:04Speaker 5: My mom moved from London.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I was in her belly at the time, and so
- 5:11Speaker 4: technically I'm from London, London Town.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Uh, and I grew up so you were like you
- 5:17Speaker 3: were born here?
- 5:19Speaker 5: Yes, but yes kind of yeah, but I.
- 5:23Speaker 3: The accent developed in the world.
- 5:25Speaker 5: We talked about this all the time.
- 5:27Speaker 1: We cannot figure it out. We cannot figure out how
- 5:29Speaker 1: she still sounds.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Britt was actually yeah, yeah, yeah, sorry, yeah no, I.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Mean I'm kind of a good looking dude, so I
- 5:37Speaker 4: think the British just like works with it or something.
- 5:41Speaker 4: So anyway, yes, a Skylar bhuten and I love writing
- 5:46Speaker 4: and I love.
- 5:46Speaker 5: All my These are like some of my best friends
- 5:48Speaker 5: because I.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Moved here from a very very very very very young age,
- 5:52Speaker 4: so I didn't have a lot of friends.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Here, so it's good to meet everybody.
- 5:56Speaker 3: And the young age, to be clear, was zero.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Yeah, so I moved to a very young age of.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Fetus, potentially before age starts. Really, if you think about it,
- 6:07Speaker 1: you kind of come out of the.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Wounds day, yeah, because actually if you're like a little
- 6:11Speaker 2: bit yeah, no, I wouldn't.
- 6:13Speaker 5: I wouldn't say that. I actually actually know.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Oh okay, well hey guys, so sorry, go ahead, yeah, thanks,
- 6:22Speaker 1: Hey guys. What's up. I'm Sean Shots. That's my stage name.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Uh So, I am an actor, a comedy guy. I
- 6:29Speaker 1: do some really good open mics and some really good
- 6:32Speaker 1: stand up shows, and I kind of am the comedy
- 6:35Speaker 1: of the writing team a little bit. I kind of
- 6:38Speaker 1: bring a fun flavor.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Oh you kidding kind of you totally.
- 6:42Speaker 2: No, stop, it's really funny. Yeah.
- 6:44Speaker 1: So I never really took any writing classes and never
- 6:46Speaker 1: really learned how to write until I met you guys,
- 6:49Speaker 1: and and I really had a vision and I really
- 6:52Speaker 1: had a dream and it's been fun. I kind of
- 6:54Speaker 1: fell into it with you guys. We kind of all
- 6:56Speaker 1: like met I saw your guys's date on Coffee meets Bagels.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Once it turned into writing thing, and you guys got
- 7:01Speaker 1: stuck somewhere, and I said, well, I can help out
- 7:03Speaker 1: with this. And actually I remember, Melissa, I don't know
- 7:07Speaker 1: if you remember this. We took a writing a sketch
- 7:10Speaker 1: writing class together like years ago, and that.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Was so wild because I knew, like when you cold
- 7:19Speaker 3: DMed me to ask if I was writing anything and
- 7:22Speaker 3: if you could punch up anything I wrote, I knew
- 7:26Speaker 3: you looked familiar, but I couldn't really place why. I'm like,
- 7:28Speaker 3: are you my dentist? Are you my psychiatrist?
- 7:31Speaker 1: Like?
- 7:31Speaker 3: Who are you? Why do I rem them?
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:34Speaker 1: Well, because like we were doing that sketch class and
- 7:35Speaker 1: then like I think the third class you dropped out
- 7:38Speaker 1: because you got notes right or something like that happened,
- 7:40Speaker 1: like you didn't like.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yeah, they like weren't really understanding. Like I wrote this
- 7:45Speaker 3: hilarious sketch about like like a high school that was
- 7:49Speaker 3: too woke and the teachers did not get the joke
- 7:53Speaker 3: at all, and so I it just like wasn't for me.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Like I respect anybody who was able to finish Michael's
- 7:59Speaker 3: clas but like I just could not.
- 8:02Speaker 4: You know, yeah, yeah, I because Melissa put us all
- 8:06Speaker 4: in the text chain. This is how yeah yeah, yeah,
- 8:09Speaker 4: it's all because of Melissa.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah. So like but like just to finish, Like I've
- 8:12Speaker 1: never taken like a writing class per se, Like I've
- 8:15Speaker 1: never been a writer. I was like a business major
- 8:18Speaker 1: in college and then I dropped out, So like this
- 8:20Speaker 1: is kind of fun for me. It's like and I'm
- 8:22Speaker 1: really excited to like get this thing finished. Like and
- 8:26Speaker 1: I think that's kind of all our goals this year
- 8:28Speaker 1: is to get this thing finished.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And like you are the king of punch Up. Like
- 8:32Speaker 3: I know we've been saying it, but like you are
- 8:34Speaker 3: so good at punch up and like a lot of
- 8:37Speaker 3: times on first read, I'll like read your jokes and
- 8:40Speaker 3: I'll go, I don't understand what these mean or what
- 8:44Speaker 3: he's talking about, but on like fifth read, I'm like, oh,
- 8:48Speaker 3: this is really really funny.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. Like for me, I think like just personally,
- 8:52Speaker 1: my style and my voice is like if every line
- 8:55Speaker 1: doesn't have a joke, what are we doing? So like
- 8:57Speaker 1: every single line should be funny. And I'm kind of
- 9:00Speaker 1: a I'm kind of big on action line jokes, So
- 9:04Speaker 1: I love writing jokes into the action line, and.
- 9:08Speaker 3: That's where most of the jokes are.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, like you.
- 9:11Speaker 3: You'll write like interior fart parade day, and then you'll
- 9:16Speaker 3: you'll like write it on the next line and you'll say,
- 9:18Speaker 3: just kidding, interior museum.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Yeah. When I heard that, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. When
- 9:22Speaker 2: I heard that was yeah yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah really So that's like I'm kind of the punch
- 9:27Speaker 1: up guy.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess I'll go when My name is Quentin Foss.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I handle formatting and technical file conversion, and I also
- 9:42Speaker 2: my dad is the founder final draft and so I
- 9:45Speaker 2: got us we were all able to use a final draft.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Sorry for yelling. I just really looked the scroup and
- 9:50Speaker 2: it's it's I I met. I met you guys because
- 9:54Speaker 2: I was Skylar's roommate, and I always used to be
- 9:58Speaker 2: sitting there and I used to be sitting there, and
- 10:00Speaker 2: I used to be drinking coffee all times of day,
- 10:03Speaker 2: and you guys would and you guys would say, well,
- 10:06Speaker 2: I guess if you're gonna be here, you can help
- 10:07Speaker 2: us out. And so it's been really it's been really
- 10:09Speaker 2: awesome to be involved with you guys. Am I screaming,
- 10:12Speaker 2: I'm sorry from that.
- 10:12Speaker 5: No, no, no, we're not at all.
- 10:15Speaker 6: Quentin and I live above the Republic of Pies in
- 10:19Speaker 6: North Hollywood, and it is such a good space and
- 10:22Speaker 6: I'm not from here, and I have to tell you
- 10:25Speaker 6: it is absolutely incredible.
- 10:26Speaker 5: The energy in North Hollywood.
- 10:28Speaker 4: And we constantly like want to meet up with Melissa
- 10:30Speaker 4: and everybody else, like downstairs at REPUBLICA pause. It's actually
- 10:34Speaker 4: and the fact that Quentin jumped in has been like
- 10:37Speaker 4: an absolute gift.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Man, it's been really, really awesome.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It's been so awesome that you're here. Man, You've been
- 10:43Speaker 1: helping us with formatting so much like we run.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Away that we all have final draft on our computers.
- 10:48Speaker 3: It's like something that is so such.
- 10:51Speaker 1: A privilege, like actually in La like it doesn't happen
- 10:55Speaker 1: a lot.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yes, it's been really really cool. And I and I
- 10:59Speaker 2: and I want to say, like before you guys, I
- 11:01Speaker 2: actually didn't have friends that I was considering moving home
- 11:03Speaker 2: because my mom needs a lot of help. But it's
- 11:05Speaker 2: been really nice to be here because it's like it's
- 11:08Speaker 2: maybe realized that my mom can deal with her own stuff,
- 11:10Speaker 2: like and.
- 11:12Speaker 1: She's like, like, that's like because like a lot of
- 11:14Speaker 1: writing is like are we writing? Are we talking about
- 11:16Speaker 1: like what's kind of going on in our lives? To
- 11:18Speaker 1: get that juice And that's like a big thing we've
- 11:20Speaker 1: been talking and helping you through is like letting your
- 11:22Speaker 1: mom deal with her illness by herself, like.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Melissa, You've you've told me, Melissa, like you you've specifically
- 11:29Speaker 2: told me MS has good days and bad days and
- 11:31Speaker 2: like you.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Told me, and it does and like it does. And
- 11:37Speaker 3: I think there's beauty in that. And I think it's
- 11:39Speaker 3: your responsibility as a writer.
- 11:41Speaker 1: To to capture that, to capture capture that.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I think the best way for you to help your
- 11:46Speaker 3: mom is to funnel it into your screenplay.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Thank you, And I've been funneling funneling it into our format.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Can we talk about ye yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 11:54Speaker 2: say yes.
- 11:56Speaker 5: What the synopsis is?
- 11:57Speaker 1: Actually? Actually, I think like a lot of people will
- 12:00Speaker 1: be wondering that, and I'm actually really excited to talk
- 12:02Speaker 1: about it.
- 12:03Speaker 3: That's what's so exciting about this. Did anyone have the
- 12:07Speaker 3: one pager?
- 12:08Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah I could. I guess I can go ahead
- 12:09Speaker 2: and get started. You guys want me to read it?
- 12:12Speaker 2: I can really? Okay? Cool?
- 12:15Speaker 6: Uh?
- 12:15Speaker 2: So the project is is really exciting project.
- 12:18Speaker 1: So basically what the project is, it's like this really
- 12:20Speaker 1: fun thing.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead, yes, So actually what the project is
- 12:24Speaker 3: is like it's sort of an examination of like.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Actually what the project is mean it starts in a
- 12:29Speaker 5: little town.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, well actually it's actually sort of a big town.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, And like actually maybe what's actually more important than
- 12:36Speaker 1: that actually is to understand kind of the genre, which
- 12:38Speaker 1: is like Goony's adjacent, Like it's Goony's adjacent. So I think, like,
- 12:42Speaker 1: actually that's kind.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Of the most it's Goony's adjacent. But I also want
- 12:45Speaker 3: to like I would be remiss if we didn't mention
- 12:47Speaker 3: our comps, which our tenant meets ninety day Fiance meets
- 12:51Speaker 3: broad City exactly exactly.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So like but actually I think what's really important
- 12:57Speaker 1: is to understand the heart behind it, and the heart
- 12:59Speaker 1: behind it is kind of a coming of age story
- 13:02Speaker 1: about it.
- 13:03Speaker 2: When a font size twelve, the FONTA sized the font,
- 13:07Speaker 2: the fonts, the font of the script is size twelve.
- 13:11Speaker 3: And that's awesome.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And that's awesome, thank you and that's so awesome, totally
- 13:16Speaker 1: thank you.
- 13:17Speaker 3: What do you have it in career?
- 13:19Speaker 2: It's in it's in final, it's in courier final draft font.
- 13:22Speaker 2: It's the traditional font.
- 13:23Speaker 3: God, that's so awesome.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I actually downloaded a lot of free fonts online
- 13:27Speaker 2: and I tried them out because I thought it would
- 13:29Speaker 2: be really fun to try them. I used the encanto
- 13:31Speaker 2: font for a long time and I thought it would
- 13:33Speaker 2: be really fun to.
- 13:34Speaker 1: See it was a mess. That was an absolute mess.
- 13:36Speaker 2: For a while.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I could not read that thing. I was never really
- 13:39Speaker 1: like read and get.
- 13:40Speaker 2: It was really dumb.
- 13:41Speaker 1: But so anyway, yeah, so basically what.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Go ahead?
- 13:46Speaker 1: So basically what it's about, it's a group of kids
- 13:50Speaker 1: find the stone and they realize this stone is gone
- 13:53Speaker 1: kind of an answer for them. So what the stone
- 13:56Speaker 1: can do is they can send them in reverse or
- 13:57Speaker 1: send them ten years forward. At least that's where it lies.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Right now, and we actually in the.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Next draft, we and we've talked about this a little
- 14:07Speaker 3: bit over text, but we haven't like actually confirmed it.
- 14:11Speaker 3: The next draft, we want to implement the fact that
- 14:15Speaker 3: they are getting married to people in other countries and
- 14:19Speaker 3: that's why they're time traveling. That's not in the current draft,
- 14:22Speaker 3: but that's where we're headed.
- 14:24Speaker 5: That's where I're going.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Yeah, So, like our current draft right now is about
- 14:27Speaker 1: how long is it? It's about sixty pages.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Let me put up right now, it's actually one hundred
- 14:31Speaker 2: and forty five pages.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Sorry, it's one hundred and forty five pages. Yeah, but
- 14:35Speaker 1: a lot of that is just notes because it's kind
- 14:37Speaker 1: of like for me, it's like a lot of like
- 14:40Speaker 1: is this scene finished or are there a lot of.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Thoughts on it?
- 14:42Speaker 1: Like us to kind of writing about what it is.
- 14:44Speaker 1: And I know, Okay, we're like so excited because we
- 14:47Speaker 1: finished it, and now we're going to go back and
- 14:49Speaker 1: rewrite it like a little bit more polished, and we're
- 14:51Speaker 1: going to add a bunch of.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Things, you know, And we've devised this awesome system where
- 14:56Speaker 3: like if anyone has a comment, they write it in
- 14:59Speaker 3: as dialogue below the dialogue and they bowled it so,
- 15:02Speaker 3: but you have to say it in the voice of
- 15:04Speaker 3: the characters we've already used.
- 15:06Speaker 4: And it's absolutely such a good idea that I actually
- 15:10Speaker 4: emailed Greta Goerwick and Noah bomback myself and said, we
- 15:13Speaker 4: figured out a perfect way to communicate between writers.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, because like we love Barbie, but we thought their
- 15:20Speaker 1: communication was a little lacking, so we wanted to give
- 15:23Speaker 1: them a little bit of a suggestion.
- 15:24Speaker 2: You know, you could tell they were they weren't on
- 15:26Speaker 2: the same page when they were writing it. You could
- 15:28Speaker 2: tell in the writing.
- 15:29Speaker 5: And it's like, we're literally on the same page.
- 15:32Speaker 3: But what literally on the same page?
- 15:34Speaker 2: I will say, I will say it, and please cut
- 15:36Speaker 2: me off if this is an issue, but but I
- 15:38Speaker 2: will say that sometimes it feels a little bit like
- 15:41Speaker 2: we begin to give each other notes on the tone
- 15:45Speaker 2: in which the character is giving notes, but I don't know. Okay,
- 15:50Speaker 2: you're right, I'm actually fucking lying, like it's crazy, No
- 15:53Speaker 2: what I'm no, I'm lying like I'm.
- 15:55Speaker 5: Lying, Quentin. I'm lying, Quentin. And we have these moments
- 15:59Speaker 5: where we get to help you each other.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Working as a big group, we get to help each
- 16:02Speaker 4: other like an ensemble Wood, Quentin, you're not lying, You're
- 16:06Speaker 4: telling the truth.
- 16:07Speaker 5: Okay, okay, And Quentin's right.
- 16:11Speaker 4: We sometimes write notes in the notes of the character,
- 16:14Speaker 4: in the voice of the character.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of like a writing exercise. Every once
- 16:19Speaker 3: in a while. It is difficult to tell whether we're
- 16:22Speaker 3: speaking in note or whether we're speaking in dialogue. But
- 16:27Speaker 3: I think it's been so useful because I like it's
- 16:32Speaker 3: helping us solve these little disagreements. Like I think we're
- 16:35Speaker 3: having something we're kind of circling around, is we can't
- 16:39Speaker 3: really decide if the main character, Johnny Pockets, is sixty
- 16:44Speaker 3: or twenty, right.
- 16:45Speaker 1: And that's been a debate, and that's kind of like
- 16:48Speaker 1: that's like a like a die on the Hill kind
- 16:50Speaker 1: of debate that we're going through.
- 16:51Speaker 5: And we have two documents, ones called sixty one's twenty,
- 16:56Speaker 5: like the title, and like how we go back and forth.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that was my responsibility. I mean, those two doctors.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I'm on boat twenty, I'm on Bout twenty. I just
- 17:04Speaker 1: feel like it's a better choice for the movie. His
- 17:06Speaker 1: name is Johnny Pockets. He's a really fun guy, Like
- 17:08Speaker 1: he's like just out of high school and like he
- 17:11Speaker 1: reminds me of myself, and I hope that I can play,
- 17:14Speaker 1: Like we've talked about this, like I really hope I
- 17:16Speaker 1: can play. But yeah, it's kind of the right.
- 17:19Speaker 3: You write very different dialogue for Johnny Pockets than I do.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Like he's kind of always on a skateboard and doing
- 17:24Speaker 3: sort of like epic cool guy stuff I've noticed, like
- 17:28Speaker 3: it seems like and he's like sort of dating a lot.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Like he's like dating really so much. He's dating so much,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and that's you guys call me out. And I thought
- 17:37Speaker 1: it was fair. It kind of turned into my life's
- 17:39Speaker 1: fan fiction a little bit, like if I was dating
- 17:41Speaker 1: a lot, that's like what it would be.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Like we ultimately have to remember this as a
- 17:45Speaker 3: Times travel story of a sixty year old man, right,
- 17:50Speaker 3: because we agree Johnny is an older name, so he
- 17:53Speaker 3: has to be sixty, right.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I would also like for him to be twenty because
- 17:56Speaker 2: twenty when you spell it out, has less letters than
- 17:59Speaker 2: sixty ixty versus D W N T Y, So if.
- 18:03Speaker 1: You definitely more letters twenty one, Oh sorry, I'm sorry.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, So I guess I wanted to be I
- 18:11Speaker 2: guess I wanted to be sixty because.
- 18:12Speaker 5: I want, and what do you want?
- 18:14Speaker 2: I don't know. What do you think I want? What
- 18:15Speaker 2: should I want? Sculler, what should I want?
- 18:17Speaker 5: You should want twenty?
- 18:19Speaker 2: I want twenty?
- 18:20Speaker 3: Here we go, Okay, I just shifting gears for one second,
- 18:26Speaker 3: because we could go in circles on this all day long.
- 18:31Speaker 3: So let's talk about being a four person writing team, right,
- 18:34Speaker 3: let's do it.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Let's discuss it, Like, what.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Is your guys' favorite platform on which to communicate with
- 18:41Speaker 3: each other? Mine is group me, and we have a few.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Well, I like texting, but it's tough because I have
- 18:50Speaker 1: an Android, so we can't do an I chat group
- 18:53Speaker 1: text so hard.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I hate that and some people, some people, Melissa will
- 18:58Speaker 4: not stop liking things even though it messes up the format.
- 19:02Speaker 5: And we see that Melissa liked it. Melissa liked it,
- 19:05Speaker 5: and we're telling Melissa it clogs up the feet.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Well that it's tough because then I remember that I'm
- 19:10Speaker 3: not supposed to like it, so I unlike it, but
- 19:12Speaker 3: then it feels rude, so I like it again and
- 19:14Speaker 3: we get notifications for both.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Group me is tough for me because it's attached to
- 19:19Speaker 1: my college email and so I can never log in again.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Which feels like a problem with the platform. But I
- 19:24Speaker 1: cannot figure out how to make a new account, and
- 19:27Speaker 1: I cannot figure out how to reconnect my old account
- 19:29Speaker 1: to my new account.
- 19:31Speaker 3: So the one con with group me is that on
- 19:35Speaker 3: it is that only three of us.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Are on it, so you guys a lot is It's
- 19:42Speaker 1: kind of frustrating for me because a lot of discussions
- 19:45Speaker 1: about meetings and that will happen on the group me,
- 19:47Speaker 1: and I have to constantly remind you, guys, I'm not
- 19:49Speaker 1: on the group me. I'm not on the group me.
- 19:52Speaker 5: And then sometimes you'll say you're not on the group me.
- 19:54Speaker 4: And Melissa will like it on the normal message story,
- 19:56Speaker 4: but the Android, and then we won't see it, and
- 19:59Speaker 4: we didn't I will.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I will say, though Skylar's Instagram DM group is one
- 20:04Speaker 1: of the most difficult ones for me to get behind me.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I think I can't.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I can't get in that because I told you I'm verified,
- 20:11Speaker 3: so it goes to my message requests and I don't
- 20:13Speaker 3: know where that is, so I can't get in.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to say Melissa's verify. Yeah.
- 20:19Speaker 4: And sometimes Melissa will communicate through x on Mobiles Instagram account,
- 20:24Speaker 4: which is just too confused.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Sorry, go ahead, but it's gonna get me in trouble. No,
- 20:30Speaker 3: that's it.
- 20:31Speaker 2: No, sometimes I do. I accidentally sent our script to
- 20:34Speaker 2: X on mobile ones and then they got really interested.
- 20:36Speaker 2: But I thought it was you emailing from them, but
- 20:38Speaker 2: it was somebody else.
- 20:40Speaker 3: It was my boss is interested because she like kind
- 20:44Speaker 3: of is having sort of like a crisis of conscience
- 20:46Speaker 3: and she like wants to go into entertainment or something.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I don't know, Like Judy's really random.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Can I just say, and I'm sorry, this is a
- 20:53Speaker 2: huge take. Can I just say when bosses take their
- 20:57Speaker 2: subserviences hobbies as their own as a way to explore
- 21:01Speaker 2: their own personal life outside of work, I think that's
- 21:03Speaker 2: actually not healthy.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's really cool.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Thank you for finally talk about this.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I don't know, did I think.
- 21:12Speaker 5: That's the first real thing you've ever seen.
- 21:15Speaker 1: This is what I'm lying on your voice.
- 21:17Speaker 2: You're working.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I will say, though, to call Quintin out a little bit.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Don't don't please don't, please, don't please don't. I was
- 21:27Speaker 1: just going to bring up how you love emails, but
- 21:31Speaker 1: you love emails and oh my.
- 21:32Speaker 3: God, he's sweating so much.
- 21:34Speaker 1: And the thing that you'll do is you'll have a
- 21:35Speaker 1: thread of an email with all four of us, but
- 21:37Speaker 1: then you'll only reply one of us sometimes to get
- 21:39Speaker 1: specific emails. And it's like, I've got a thread of
- 21:41Speaker 1: two hundred emails. I can't figure out information that's like
- 21:44Speaker 1: six emails before.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And I will apologize for that, and I'll make cookies
- 21:48Speaker 2: if I if I accidentally email you when I'm supposed
- 21:50Speaker 2: to group email, because that's so much labor on your
- 21:53Speaker 2: end and that's so rude of me, and I'm really
- 21:56Speaker 2: sorry about that.
- 21:57Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Hey, I won't do it again.
- 21:59Speaker 1: So maybe what we should talk about now is like,
- 22:03Speaker 1: actually what happens in our meetings, because I know what
- 22:05Speaker 1: you guys are thinking is like, how do you guys
- 22:08Speaker 1: get stuff done? Like what is this like determination meetings
- 22:11Speaker 1: you have? So what we do first is we have
- 22:13Speaker 1: to figure out how to set a meeting.
- 22:15Speaker 5: And I was gonna say, we have to get to
- 22:17Speaker 5: the meeting first.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so like booking a meeting is sometimes really tough.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Yeah, sorry, go ahead before you say that. Quentin, Monday's
- 22:27Speaker 5: worked all the time, and then Mondays it worked because
- 22:30Speaker 5: someone had gymnastics.
- 22:30Speaker 3: I don't remember who gymnastics.
- 22:33Speaker 5: Thank you the girl and then Tuesdays. We did Tuesdays
- 22:36Speaker 5: every time. But then someone at swimming who had swimming.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I, well, it's it's it's called swimming pool. It's an
- 22:42Speaker 1: open mic that I do, and it jump into the
- 22:49Speaker 1: swimming pool and it's an open mic I do. And
- 22:51Speaker 1: I've just got that commitment and it starts at four
- 22:54Speaker 1: and you have to put your name in at three
- 22:55Speaker 1: thirty to get in, and then you have to wait
- 22:56Speaker 1: until seven to see if you play.
- 22:58Speaker 4: There is a brief time that we met every week
- 23:00Speaker 4: at Saturday at eleven pm because that was when uh,
- 23:05Speaker 4: like my shift at Republic of Pies ended, and that.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Was when my dates end. Like I really I have
- 23:13Speaker 3: eight pm to eleven pm blocked off every Saturday and
- 23:17Speaker 3: Friday night just in case I get asked out.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Well, this is actually huge on Rayah. I don't know
- 23:22Speaker 1: if you guys know this, but that's how she's she's.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Under her name and agent says social I'm verified.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I'm a Riah influencer in that I go on so
- 23:35Speaker 3: many dates that they did verify me because you know,
- 23:38Speaker 3: I could get catfished whenever, like not trying to be like,
- 23:41Speaker 3: oh I'm so beautiful or anything, but like I could
- 23:43Speaker 3: get cat fished.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Remember when we matched.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that was really funny. That was really funny,
- 23:52Speaker 3: so weird, so funny.
- 23:52Speaker 4: We bounced around for like meeting times kind of like
- 23:55Speaker 4: depending on the month, like for a while, and then
- 23:58Speaker 4: finally I got my shift moved from public a pie,
- 24:00Speaker 4: So then we started working on Wednesdays at two.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Wednesdays at two, which I thought was the best time.
- 24:07Speaker 3: That was the best time. But I was audio only
- 24:10Speaker 3: and Printon was video only.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I was video. I was video only.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Because you had your job, right, you're.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yeah, because I do close captioning for my job, do
- 24:18Speaker 2: coach chat capturing for Judge Judy, and I needed I
- 24:22Speaker 2: needed my ears entirely for that.
- 24:26Speaker 3: And I was audio only because I was expressing a
- 24:30Speaker 3: body language in a TikTok via in exonmobile And that
- 24:34Speaker 3: was really just like a funny.
- 24:35Speaker 1: By because I had to zoom from the coffee shop
- 24:37Speaker 1: near my house because that's when my roommate was taking
- 24:40Speaker 1: over the living room, so I I couldn't make noise,
- 24:43Speaker 1: so I had.
- 24:43Speaker 4: To And that's so funny because Wednesdays at two fifteen,
- 24:47Speaker 4: I get in a bad mood every time.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's when your coffee runs out.
- 24:51Speaker 5: It was like, yeah, middle of the week, middle of
- 24:53Speaker 5: the day, I'm cranky, and it's it's a British thing.
- 24:57Speaker 3: And so yeah, So if you're young for a person
- 25:01Speaker 3: writing team and you're looking for some advice to how
- 25:03Speaker 3: to structure your meetings, like, we kind of follow a
- 25:07Speaker 3: system that's worked pretty well for us. And this is
- 25:10Speaker 3: for meetings in which we're all in person.
- 25:14Speaker 1: We all like, yeah, we try the best, which are
- 25:16Speaker 1: the best.
- 25:16Speaker 2: It's really good because one of my favorites Yeah, sorry, go.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Ahead, no, and they probably happened, like, I don't know,
- 25:22Speaker 3: once every like four or five months.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, we use my, we use my use my, we
- 25:25Speaker 2: use my projector and it's really fun and we and
- 25:27Speaker 2: we we we projected the script up onto the big.
- 25:30Speaker 5: White damn get hold you there right there.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, go ahead, come off, come off. I
- 25:36Speaker 2: was lying, I was lying.
- 25:37Speaker 5: No, you were We used the projector every once in
- 25:39Speaker 5: a while, I was lying, Well.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I love it because it's kind of like the one
- 25:42Speaker 1: computer method. So there's four of us and there's one computer,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and we're all looking at the projector giving thoughts at
- 25:47Speaker 1: the same time. So only one of us can type.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Quentin is in charge of typing, but a lot of
- 25:51Speaker 1: us can give thoughts at any point and that's kind
- 25:53Speaker 1: of the rule. So how it works though, usually what
- 25:57Speaker 1: happens is we're we're following our own method. We get
- 26:00Speaker 1: we usually arrive whenever we arrivee it takes us about
- 26:03Speaker 1: maybe two hours to get started actually get stuck in,
- 26:06Speaker 1: like we've got a lot to talk about, a lot
- 26:08Speaker 1: to catch up.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we have like thirty minutes of like you know,
- 26:12Speaker 3: structured small talk, where like most small talk you're kind
- 26:17Speaker 3: of just like free flowing, and like that's not what
- 26:19Speaker 3: we're trying to do this as a business meeting. So
- 26:21Speaker 3: we have these like conversation cards where we talk about
- 26:23Speaker 3: different topics like Okay, if you're a beach ball, what
- 26:26Speaker 3: beach ball would you be, like stuff like that, Yeah,
- 26:28Speaker 3: to sort of like get like it's it's really driven
- 26:32Speaker 3: small talk, and.
- 26:33Speaker 4: It's interesting sometimes like some people feel like a small
- 26:35Speaker 4: beach ball and some people feel like a heavy beach ball,
- 26:37Speaker 4: and it's fun to like meet in the middle and
- 26:40Speaker 4: just like figure it out.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's tough because usually one of us is
- 26:45Speaker 1: coming in with a lot of baggage that we have
- 26:47Speaker 1: to talk through. So like we will do that and
- 26:49Speaker 1: we'll talk through everybody's baggage for you.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Know, baggage. Yeah, and then we kind of push the
- 26:55Speaker 3: structured small talk. Like it ends up getting pushed. So
- 26:58Speaker 3: usually by hour one we're on to structured small talk.
- 27:01Speaker 3: But then so we'll we'll do and we do.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Then we do the yeah, we do the writing exercise.
- 27:06Speaker 2: We all yeah exercise. We have to mention to you,
- 27:09Speaker 2: like as soon as we start meeting, if we're in person,
- 27:11Speaker 2: like and I start typing, as you guys know, I
- 27:13Speaker 2: get wired in and so every single thing that said,
- 27:15Speaker 2: I start writing and so it goes into the script.
- 27:17Speaker 2: And then we have to figure out, oh, that was
- 27:19Speaker 2: a conversation that they were having about kudoba grill. We
- 27:21Speaker 2: have to cut that out. Oh that was a conversation
- 27:23Speaker 2: that was that was our altercation, that was a conversation.
- 27:26Speaker 2: To cut those out. So we have to figure out
- 27:27Speaker 2: what was part of the script and actually wasn't. Why
- 27:30Speaker 2: am I am I screaming? I'm sorry?
- 27:32Speaker 3: No, of course not, and ask for our rule. You
- 27:35Speaker 3: do have to say everything that we say in the
- 27:38Speaker 3: characters voices sold to be honest to dig through.
- 27:41Speaker 4: It was really odd when you were like doubling and
- 27:43Speaker 4: doing Judge Judy at the same time.
- 27:45Speaker 5: I know, because it was just it was odd.
- 27:49Speaker 3: I quit too much.
- 27:50Speaker 2: No, I know, I know, I know. I had Judge
- 27:52Speaker 2: Judy and this, I had my my, my, my, my
- 27:55Speaker 2: eleven to three job, and then I have our our script.
- 27:59Speaker 2: And you guys were right. I was. I was doing
- 28:01Speaker 2: too much, and of course my freaking mom and so
- 28:04Speaker 2: I was doing too much. And so I told my
- 28:05Speaker 2: mom was not gonna see you anymore. And I and
- 28:07Speaker 2: I told you Judy, you guys can find somebody else.
- 28:10Speaker 2: And they did quickly. They did so fast.
- 28:14Speaker 3: And you don't desert to bullets.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Ok I want to go back, Okay, go back. Not
- 28:19Speaker 5: to cut you off, Quintin, No, no, please do.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I'm actually I don't even know what I'm saying, by
- 28:23Speaker 2: the way, silly.
- 28:25Speaker 5: What I want to say is that we have to
- 28:27Speaker 5: remind each other this.
- 28:28Speaker 4: All the time, that if you don't treat this script
- 28:30Speaker 4: like it's a paying job, it will never become a
- 28:33Speaker 4: paying job.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, Like I.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Use the time in which I could be working at
- 28:38Speaker 4: Republic of Pies like I would be making money. That's
- 28:42Speaker 4: the time when we're sitting around talking about which beach
- 28:44Speaker 4: ball we are, that is paying me in a different way.
- 28:48Speaker 3: And like I foresee for us one hundred thousand dollars
- 28:51Speaker 3: in the future split four ways. That is what's coming,
- 28:54Speaker 3: that's what's at the end of the road, and that's
- 28:55Speaker 3: what we're driving to. So like, if you think about it,
- 28:59Speaker 3: and we've been working on this script for what six years?
- 29:01Speaker 2: Six years?
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and you can't you can't count pandemic though even
- 29:05Speaker 1: though we did meet on Zoom a bunch, we can't count.
- 29:07Speaker 3: It and process.
- 29:09Speaker 2: And by the way, it's not over. Pandemic's not over.
- 29:11Speaker 2: So this this currently doesn't count.
- 29:13Speaker 4: And you know, we get to patch yourself on the
- 29:15Speaker 4: back and go we did it. We wrote a script
- 29:16Speaker 4: during the pandemic.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it may not be out of the pandemic. We're
- 29:21Speaker 3: really gonna wrap up this script.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Well that is, I mean, that's my favorite part. One
- 29:26Speaker 1: my favorite parts of our meetings are one when we
- 29:28Speaker 1: all listen to a ten minute motivation podcast together and agree,
- 29:31Speaker 1: and I love the writing exercises. Sometimes I wish that
- 29:34Speaker 1: we could turn our writing exercises into a script. And
- 29:38Speaker 1: then my favorite.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Tyler as the craziest request. They're all like they're all
- 29:44Speaker 3: really mean, Like they all feel really targeted. What what
- 29:48Speaker 3: does your writing prompts that you give us? Like they're like,
- 29:53Speaker 3: like write for ten minutes on like why Melissa is
- 29:57Speaker 3: so weird?
- 29:58Speaker 2: So personalized, they're so personalized.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Yes, and like just piggybacking off of what Quentin said personalized,
- 30:05Speaker 4: I think I think that.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Yes, sorry, I'm guys that I'm really sorry.
- 30:19Speaker 5: It counts sound.
- 30:23Speaker 2: The day Quintin you've ruined the day.
- 30:32Speaker 4: I'll say that I I find it and maybe it's
- 30:36Speaker 4: maybe it's because I'm British, but like I like to
- 30:38Speaker 4: call people out, and I like to call people out
- 30:40Speaker 4: in a way where it's just like like like last
- 30:43Speaker 4: week's writing exercise was sean, explain your hygiene regiment and
- 30:49Speaker 4: we'll all write notes on how we think you can
- 30:51Speaker 4: improve it.
- 30:52Speaker 1: That was that spiraled me out. I'm still kind of
- 30:55Speaker 1: spiraling out because I thought I had a good hygiene
- 30:58Speaker 1: regiment and you guys had and thoughts.
- 31:01Speaker 4: But like just the way that we punch up each
- 31:03Speaker 4: other's jokes and dialogue, we should be able to punch
- 31:06Speaker 4: up each other's lives and that's how we will become
- 31:08Speaker 4: fondly one mind.
- 31:10Speaker 1: M hm. And that's like what we're always aiming for
- 31:12Speaker 1: is like becoming one mind and finishing this screenplay.
- 31:15Speaker 2: It would be almost easy if there's one of us
- 31:17Speaker 2: I actually have I actually have a question, and you
- 31:20Speaker 2: guys don't have to answer it. You guys can ignore
- 31:21Speaker 2: it that I asked it as soon as I ask
- 31:23Speaker 2: you one. But it's a question that my dad asked me,
- 31:25Speaker 2: and I think it's good for all of us. What
- 31:28Speaker 2: percentage of the script do you think is all of
- 31:31Speaker 2: our voices? So like what percentage of the script is
- 31:33Speaker 2: your voice? What percent of the script is my voice?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Like what do you guys think, like you can seak
- 31:37Speaker 2: for yourself, I would say.
- 31:39Speaker 7: One, Yeah, I would have to agree with Sean.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I do think it is one percent my voice. And
- 31:57Speaker 3: I really feel like there's a lot of myself in here,
- 32:00Speaker 3: and I just feel like it's such a deeply personal
- 32:03Speaker 3: story to me, the story of Tennant and Johnny Pockets
- 32:06Speaker 3: is like so so personal that I really feel connected
- 32:11Speaker 3: to the material. And I think we've all shared fifty
- 32:14Speaker 3: to fifty.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Yes, I was.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Gonna say I feel fifty to fifty about it in
- 32:20Speaker 4: a way that it's one hundred percent of my voice.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and I get that you feel fifty fiftycause it's
- 32:25Speaker 1: a hundred percent of your voice, but you've always felt
- 32:26Speaker 1: fifty to fifty about the whole project.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Well, that's just because I'm always one foot in, one
- 32:30Speaker 4: foot out of everything.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Once your your other foot is in a really interesting
- 32:36Speaker 3: short right.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Now, yes, yes, one about a baby on the streets
- 32:42Speaker 4: of London Town looking for his lollipop.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I loved reading this short like you. You wrote the
- 32:48Speaker 1: first five pages and you're like, I'm so excited to
- 32:50Speaker 1: finish this and shoot this thing.
- 32:52Speaker 2: The first five pages are so so good once you
- 32:56Speaker 2: figure out that you you were lollipop.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, all pomp is on the ground somewhere and
- 33:01Speaker 4: it's a dirty, dirty lollipop. And thank you Quentin for
- 33:04Speaker 4: saying the first five pages are good. But that's what
- 33:06Speaker 4: it's like to have one foot in, one foot out.
- 33:08Speaker 4: I have one foot deep in a short and one
- 33:11Speaker 4: foot one hundred percent. That foot is one hundred percent
- 33:15Speaker 4: in our script.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Absolutely, And that's why.
- 33:18Speaker 4: I quit Republic of Pause, because because I want to
- 33:22Speaker 4: be two hundred percent in both of my writing projects.
- 33:26Speaker 5: And then another three hundred percent in my morning pages.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, well, I love when you read your morning
- 33:33Speaker 1: pages to us. That's one of my favorite.
- 33:35Speaker 5: It's my most on his self.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Also, another favorite thing of mine that we do is
- 33:40Speaker 1: at the end we always do roses and thorns about
- 33:43Speaker 1: the meeting and.
- 33:45Speaker 3: The script after scheduling.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And I guess for me a rose right now is
- 33:51Speaker 1: you guys are some of my best friends, and I
- 33:53Speaker 1: love meeting with you guys. Yeah. One of my thorns
- 33:56Speaker 1: is that when three of us meet and one of
- 33:59Speaker 1: us doesn't always happens. That when the fourth person that
- 34:02Speaker 1: wasn't there reads it, they say no and they delete
- 34:04Speaker 1: everything that we wrote. Feeding they just they feel like
- 34:08Speaker 1: they didn't come up with it, so they don't get it.
- 34:10Speaker 3: But yeah, my rose, and okay, I'm sorry. I guess
- 34:14Speaker 3: we're just doing it live now. This is so fun.
- 34:16Speaker 1: This is so fun, they'll love this.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Love.
- 34:21Speaker 3: My roads is that we all look like bad ass
- 34:24Speaker 3: bitches today and we all are dressed like I'm sorry,
- 34:28Speaker 3: we are bad ass bitches, and we.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Like yeah, especially you, especially you will.
- 34:34Speaker 5: Oh my god, a boy.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Yes, yes, a bad ass bitch. I'm talking genderless here,
- 34:43Speaker 3: I'm talking about bad ass bitch as like a as
- 34:47Speaker 3: an entity, as a state of mind. Like it's like
- 34:49Speaker 3: when you put on your shoes and you walk into
- 34:51Speaker 3: your office and ex on mobile and you're thinking, I
- 34:54Speaker 3: am a bad ass bitch today and I have somewhere
- 34:57Speaker 3: to go. My thorn is that every time we meet,
- 35:01Speaker 3: it seems like this script gets less done.
- 35:05Speaker 5: Okay, so that's it. Okay.
- 35:08Speaker 1: I don't want to be I like you being honest.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, and I don't want to be weird or anything.
- 35:13Speaker 4: But I was like actually thinking that too, and I've
- 35:16Speaker 4: been actually thinking this a bit before that, Like sometimes
- 35:19Speaker 4: I feel like when we are together, it's hard to
- 35:22Speaker 4: do any everything but the script.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, Like we have so much fun with the
- 35:28Speaker 1: writing exercises and then we just start fighting, fighting so
- 35:32Speaker 1: hard when the script gets brought up. It's like been
- 35:34Speaker 1: kind of crazy like that.
- 35:35Speaker 3: It's just like anxiety inducing. No, sorry, Quentin, go ahead.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Is nothing. This is like really nothing, and okay, I'll speak.
- 35:50Speaker 2: I think something that's a little hard for me. And
- 35:51Speaker 2: this is kind of a semi thorn. But I don't
- 35:53Speaker 2: really have thorns. It's almost like a nub. It's like
- 35:55Speaker 2: a nub it's like you're cutting down the roads, like
- 35:57Speaker 2: I wouldn't ever have a thorn. But all the pride
- 36:02Speaker 2: messages I get from all of you asking me to
- 36:04Speaker 2: change things in the in the masterscript before the meeting,
- 36:09Speaker 2: I think is causing us a little bit. And and
- 36:11Speaker 2: I might actually just be kind of speaking out of
- 36:13Speaker 2: my butt and line, I think.
- 36:14Speaker 5: That's your butt speaking.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Okay, I think that's your butt speaking.
- 36:19Speaker 1: It's just how we work. It's just how we work.
- 36:21Speaker 1: If we want an idea in, we try to sneak
- 36:23Speaker 1: it in without anybody noticing. That's the healthiest way to
- 36:26Speaker 1: get it out.
- 36:26Speaker 3: The healthiest way to write is if you can sneak
- 36:30Speaker 3: it in before you've discussed it with your team.
- 36:33Speaker 5: And because here's the thing.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Once they see it, once they see the idea and
- 36:41Speaker 3: it's realized for it, they'll know it's good and they'll
- 36:43Speaker 3: know that it's good that we didn't even talk about
- 36:45Speaker 3: it first.
- 36:45Speaker 4: And truly, I'll say this, if you pitch just an
- 36:48Speaker 4: idea without doing it, we all have to talk about it.
- 36:52Speaker 5: Really, I'm gonna have to see.
- 36:54Speaker 1: It's a nightmare to just even online getting past one line,
- 36:58Speaker 1: I mean, getting.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Pitching one thing Okay, here's how it goes. Somebody pitches
- 37:04Speaker 3: one thing, we then have to talk about, uh, why
- 37:08Speaker 3: it won't work, why it would work, a personal connection
- 37:13Speaker 3: to the pitch that happened that day and an unrelated
- 37:16Speaker 3: piece of trauma that someone is working through right now.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Absolutely every line.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Pitched is probably like a thirty minute process.
- 37:25Speaker 4: It's that or we email Quinton secretly in the middle
- 37:28Speaker 4: of the night and ask me to push something in.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but so so it's totally stupid. But it's affecting
- 37:34Speaker 2: my sleep. It's totally stupid. It's totally well, I think
- 37:37Speaker 2: a good.
- 37:37Speaker 5: Artist not to cut you off that when is not sleeping.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Well, show me a good artist and tell me they
- 37:44Speaker 4: get eight hours.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I get eight hours pretty solidly, does it? I think
- 37:48Speaker 1: most of us get a hours besides Quinton, Yeah, I.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Actually sleep twelve hours a day. I'm sleeping really well.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Yeah, because I also and I did want to bring
- 37:56Speaker 2: that up, because it when when you email somebody via boomerang,
- 37:59Speaker 2: which is you schedule email, it tells them and I
- 38:02Speaker 2: do believe that you because are scheduling emails for it.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Really it does, it does this is actually does it
- 38:07Speaker 1: actually disaster for me? Actually wait, wait, this is actually
- 38:12Speaker 1: really if we need to test this after this is
- 38:15Speaker 1: actually a huge thing to.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Like, actually, i'm finding this out right now. Schedule.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Actually, you never sent me to every year of my life.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I was one of the first people to download Boomerang.
- 38:27Speaker 1: I was like first three thousand people to download, and
- 38:30Speaker 1: I've been doing it.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Everything actually makes them look less weird. Setting it in
- 38:38Speaker 3: a more normal.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Three am writing an episode, I said at nine thirty,
- 38:43Speaker 1: and now you're telling me people can tell that it's
- 38:45Speaker 1: been actually crazier.
- 38:47Speaker 4: Okay, because I know this is like probably like an
- 38:49Speaker 4: autistic comedy podcast or whatever, but we should be for
- 38:52Speaker 4: one hundred percent positive.
- 38:53Speaker 5: Are you kidding, Quentin?
- 38:55Speaker 2: I actually so, I actually do think I'm lying. I
- 38:57Speaker 2: actually think that I might be lying, And okay.
- 39:00Speaker 1: God, because I was having breakdown. I was having a
- 39:04Speaker 1: little bit of a panic that.
- 39:10Speaker 2: I'm really sorry guys keeping this.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Is humor, this is human I want to trust you
- 39:14Speaker 3: with more. I want to give you the permission to
- 39:16Speaker 3: write dialogue, but unfortunately you keep lying.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Just und I understand what I did was hurtful, and
- 39:23Speaker 2: I really understand that I'm really sorry. I hope I
- 39:24Speaker 2: can make up for it. So so just let me know.
- 39:28Speaker 2: And I am I'm going to be beating myself up
- 39:30Speaker 2: about this for the rest of my life. Yeah.
- 39:33Speaker 4: I think that a good artist should get either two
- 39:39Speaker 4: hours or eleven to fourteen.
- 39:43Speaker 5: I mean, if you're getting in the middle, like an
- 39:45Speaker 5: eight hour, like a doctor regiment, I think that's for
- 39:49Speaker 5: average people. Maybe I'm British. Maybe it's not an American thing.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, so here's a question.
- 39:57Speaker 5: Okay, like everyone.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Even, No, I didn't. I didn't, So I am. I'm
- 40:06Speaker 2: deeply lost in my own Sorry, I'm sorry, stupid Quentin. Well,
- 40:12Speaker 2: it's they should have killed you at the church. They
- 40:14Speaker 2: should have killed you in the baptism.
- 40:16Speaker 1: See, this is good dialogue. This is you gotta save this.
- 40:20Speaker 1: This is some good dialogue.
- 40:22Speaker 2: The price should have left you in the water at Quintin.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Wait should that.
- 40:25Speaker 3: In Johnny's monologue when he's when he's getting together with Rose.
- 40:30Speaker 2: It's already in there. I think because we talked about
- 40:31Speaker 2: this before. Have we talked about before? I guess I've
- 40:36Speaker 2: said it to myself. Sometimes I put my own thoughts
- 40:38Speaker 2: in the script.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Well, it's hard sometimes because it I think what's really
- 40:41Speaker 1: happened now is like we've really kind of like developed
- 40:44Speaker 1: long standing light beefs. I wouldn't call them beefs. I
- 40:47Speaker 1: wouldn't call them beasts. But I do feel like if
- 40:49Speaker 1: I say something, Skyler will always disagree with it.
- 40:52Speaker 5: I love what you say.
- 40:56Speaker 1: If Skyler says something, Melissa will definitely disagree with it.
- 40:59Speaker 1: I mean, it's like these long standing things.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I love all your ideas, lot of it.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Some of it has to do with interpersonal like past
- 41:07Speaker 3: dating history.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's like you guys always call me out
- 41:11Speaker 1: for defending what Melissa says too much, and I'm like, guys, it's.
- 41:14Speaker 2: No, I disagree, I would I.
- 41:16Speaker 5: Agree, I would disagree. I don't call you out for that.
- 41:18Speaker 5: I usually, yeah, you disagree that I that I disagree.
- 41:23Speaker 2: And you're always right though, but you're always right when
- 41:24Speaker 2: because I'm always up to some funck shit, you know
- 41:26Speaker 2: what I mean, Like I'm always.
- 41:28Speaker 5: Whoa Quentin turning down.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Sorry, I'm sorry, but that's what you call it. It's
- 41:32Speaker 2: what you call it.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Well, And the awesome thing that we're doing consciously as
- 41:37Speaker 3: a four person writing team is that we just got
- 41:39Speaker 3: into couples therapy. So we have booked two therapists. They're
- 41:43Speaker 3: gonna work as a team to work on us two
- 41:47Speaker 3: by two, So we'll go in in groups of two
- 41:50Speaker 3: and then eventually the goal is to merge all the
- 41:54Speaker 3: sessions so that it's four of us.
- 41:56Speaker 2: That's one person. There's one person that he lives in
- 41:58Speaker 2: see Me Valley. He does quadruples there, but he's so expensive.
- 42:01Speaker 2: So the script it's like, it's like it's almost like
- 42:05Speaker 2: the catch twenty two because we want to sell the
- 42:06Speaker 2: script so we can afford the quadruples therapy, but we
- 42:09Speaker 2: can't afford quadruples therapy until we sell the script.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's true exactly.
- 42:13Speaker 3: And I like WGA insurance does not cover quadruples therapy
- 42:18Speaker 3: or couples therapy.
- 42:19Speaker 1: And none of us are WGA No, But it's nice
- 42:23Speaker 1: to think about it. It's nice to think about what
- 42:25Speaker 1: they include or don't include.
- 42:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good to know these things for when we
- 42:29Speaker 3: sell it, which we like. And I've been doing a
- 42:32Speaker 3: lot of I did a corporate retreat with Exxon Mobile
- 42:39Speaker 3: and we did You're welcome. Well, I just want to
- 42:44Speaker 3: be sure there's it's not like, oh I was mispronouncing
- 42:47Speaker 3: elon musk or something. I don't know, something crazy, But
- 42:50Speaker 3: we've been doing a lot of manifesting and something I
- 42:53Speaker 3: realized during an icebreaker session with my coworkers is like
- 42:59Speaker 3: two truths that a lie. One of my truths was
- 43:01Speaker 3: we are going to sell this script and I knew
- 43:05Speaker 3: that to be true, and so I am going to
- 43:08Speaker 3: and you're manifesting that, and I'm manifesting that every day.
- 43:12Speaker 1: So when you play, when you were playing, one of
- 43:16Speaker 1: your truths was I'm gonna I'm going to sell a
- 43:19Speaker 1: script with my writers group, that's what you have to do.
- 43:25Speaker 3: You have to make it so true to you that
- 43:28Speaker 3: you would say it in to truth in a lie, I've.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Never heard that playing teachers in line with a future manifestation, that's.
- 43:36Speaker 3: How to do it.
- 43:37Speaker 5: That's get in manifestation and to truth in a liar.
- 43:43Speaker 5: Maybe it's a British thing, but.
- 43:46Speaker 3: In a li of things that have happened, No, I
- 43:48Speaker 3: think they live in a pretty similar world. Like if
- 43:51Speaker 3: you know something is fact, like we're going to sell
- 43:54Speaker 3: this script, that's fact.
- 43:56Speaker 1: That's fact.
- 43:56Speaker 3: I'm sorry, that's fact.
- 43:58Speaker 2: And if people are mad.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Then people are mad.
- 43:59Speaker 1: That's why my Instagram put bio I put like award
- 44:03Speaker 1: winning script seller of a four person script. That's in
- 44:06Speaker 1: my Instagram bio.
- 44:08Speaker 3: And this is an award for selling scripts.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a word for all. No, it's an award
- 44:15Speaker 1: for who sells the script the best. And that's what
- 44:17Speaker 1: I put in my bio. And then underneath, I have
- 44:20Speaker 1: a world in traveling and where I am uh and
- 44:23Speaker 1: I'm always in Los Angeles, so that is never moving around.
- 44:28Speaker 3: So a big question people ask us all the time
- 44:31Speaker 3: as a person, right that when will it be done?
- 44:37Speaker 3: When do you guys think it'll be done?
- 44:40Speaker 2: I actually think, I actually think that it could be done.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Well, there's our pilot that we always think about when
- 44:47Speaker 4: we're drunk.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Well, yeah, so there's a couple of things, Like the
- 44:50Speaker 1: question is like what are we trying to get done?
- 44:52Speaker 1: Because we can turnplay into a limited series, we can
- 44:54Speaker 1: turn into a pilot. It's so ready to be a feature.
- 44:57Speaker 1: It's so it's like, so what are we trying to thin?
- 45:00Speaker 5: What's your question?
- 45:01Speaker 2: Yeah? Like what you I mean? What I was?
- 45:04Speaker 3: Sorry?
- 45:04Speaker 2: Sorry?
- 45:05Speaker 5: No, I meant like a rhetorical like like.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Why don't you back off the Skyler? Why don't you
- 45:13Speaker 1: back off? Why don't you back off of her?
- 45:16Speaker 3: And Sean, I would encourage you to back off of
- 45:19Speaker 3: Skyler Quentin.
- 45:21Speaker 2: I'm really guys, I'm really sorry, guys. I think I
- 45:24Speaker 2: think I just caused that tension. I'm really sorry. Can
- 45:28Speaker 2: wait permission to mention our table read Skyler?
- 45:32Speaker 5: Okay, permission.
- 45:33Speaker 2: We're doing the table ring next week and I'm pretty
- 45:35Speaker 2: excited about it.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:36Speaker 1: So we're doing a table read with Justice for.
- 45:39Speaker 5: I disagree, Sean, I disagree.
- 45:42Speaker 1: So we're doing a table read Justice for It, and
- 45:44Speaker 1: we're really excited to give ourselves notes and feedback. OK.
- 45:47Speaker 4: You, guys, I think you said my girlfriend Magenta can come.
- 45:52Speaker 5: She's really.
- 45:55Speaker 4: I think Magenta should come, and I think she should
- 45:58Speaker 4: listen to the dialogue.
- 46:00Speaker 3: She like pitches so much. She just like has so
- 46:04Speaker 3: many ideas about our script. And I really I'm sorry, Skyler.
- 46:07Speaker 3: I just get the sense that you're trying to bring
- 46:09Speaker 3: in a fifth person.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 46:11Speaker 4: I always sometimes I think the room is a tad
- 46:13Speaker 4: quiet Melissa.
- 46:16Speaker 5: How how could it be? Yeah? Sometimes I think, I
- 46:23Speaker 5: mean fine, I'll say it.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Sometimes I think we're lacking confidence, and that's why we've
- 46:28Speaker 4: never finished the script.
- 46:30Speaker 2: I certainly I'm fucking trash, So it makes sense. What
- 46:33Speaker 2: I would say is a skyler I would talk to
- 46:35Speaker 2: you about maybe we did have like a little discussion,
- 46:38Speaker 2: and maybe I'm making it up. Maybe we didn't have it,
- 46:40Speaker 2: but I do think that we talked about how Jinta's
- 46:42Speaker 2: not well and Tinda's not allowed to come back to
- 46:44Speaker 2: the apartment because every time she comes over and you're
- 46:47Speaker 2: in the bathroom, she runs into my she runs into
- 46:49Speaker 2: my room and she cuts the crash out of on
- 46:51Speaker 2: my pants.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a concern. I like when Quentin brought that up,
- 46:58Speaker 3: I was like, well, who's to say if that happened
- 47:02Speaker 3: or not.
- 47:02Speaker 8: But when you broa fage, I think it's very easy, Quentin,
- 47:06Speaker 8: you and I as men, it's easy for us to
- 47:09Speaker 8: gaslight her into thinking she is cutting out the cutch
- 47:13Speaker 8: of the pants.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Sure, and you're right. I'm I think I'm totally fucking her.
- 47:18Speaker 2: I think I'm gaslighting her and and I'm really sorry
- 47:21Speaker 2: about that, and I won't do that again.
- 47:24Speaker 5: Maybe I'm a British thing, but I think that's gaslight here.
- 47:28Speaker 2: No. Sure, and you're right, and maybe and maybe I
- 47:30Speaker 2: did that, and maybe I'm just completely misremembering it. And
- 47:33Speaker 2: I'm just like I think I'm.
- 47:35Speaker 5: Being I think I'm cut you off right there, and
- 47:37Speaker 5: I hate to interrupt you.
- 47:37Speaker 4: I really hate to interrupt you, but I'm going to
- 47:40Speaker 4: cut you off and say that Magenta will come to
- 47:42Speaker 4: the read through. But I need Magenta at some point
- 47:45Speaker 4: when the script is over. I want her to experience
- 47:48Speaker 4: it because she just I'll tell you guys the truth.
- 47:52Speaker 4: I don't want you guys to have a bad look
- 47:53Speaker 4: on Magenta. But she thinks we're never going to finish
- 47:55Speaker 4: the script.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Well, but that's crazy because I feel like we're a
- 47:58Speaker 1: week away, literally, like so close to finishing it.
- 48:02Speaker 3: I know, like it's it's any day now, Like it
- 48:06Speaker 3: is any day now. And I'm honestly, Skyler, I don't
- 48:10Speaker 3: know if that's the right person for you, if they're
- 48:12Speaker 3: gonna like put that energy out there, like that's such
- 48:15Speaker 3: a wild and baseless and borderline abusive thing to say.
- 48:19Speaker 1: It's kind of a fucking crazy ass move for her
- 48:22Speaker 1: to say that. And I love women, but I don't
- 48:25Speaker 1: fucking trust that bitch.
- 48:30Speaker 4: Well, to be honest, she was like she said it
- 48:32Speaker 4: like like oh beat it with the screen Rogers again
- 48:35Speaker 4: at three pm today and two am on Tuesday, and
- 48:39Speaker 4: she was like, wow, you guys have been working on
- 48:42Speaker 4: that for what six years?
- 48:44Speaker 5: I never think you're gonna finish it.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Well, can I just say one thing. I feel like
- 48:47Speaker 1: we got a little sidetracked when during like twenty twenty,
- 48:51Speaker 1: during COVID, you and Melissa started writing your own script together,
- 48:54Speaker 1: and so me and Quinton try to start to write
- 48:56Speaker 1: our own script together, like different ideas. Okay, likes a.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Play, Sean, it was a play and a script a different.
- 49:03Speaker 1: You guys were hooking up, So you guys decided to
- 49:05Speaker 1: do your own project, and so what were we left
- 49:09Speaker 1: to do?
- 49:09Speaker 5: Then?
- 49:10Speaker 1: Me and we had to come up with something. We
- 49:11Speaker 1: tried to write a sketch show and it didn't go well.
- 49:14Speaker 1: It was a zoom sketch show.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Clicked on that Zoom sketch show link. I clicked on
- 49:19Speaker 3: that Zoom sketch show link, and you know what, I
- 49:21Speaker 3: watched a lot of problematic shit that was mine.
- 49:26Speaker 2: All the problematic stuff was mine. I've been told.
- 49:28Speaker 3: So, Quintin, look, we had to write that play. I'm sorry, Sean, Like,
- 49:35Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Quintin, Like I don't want you guys to
- 49:37Speaker 3: ever feel left out, but like we had a singular
- 49:40Speaker 3: experience like this play was begging for us to write it.
- 49:44Speaker 4: Okay, Sometimes I don't know how to describe it to you.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Sometimes you hook up and write a play after and
- 49:50Speaker 4: you don't know.
- 49:50Speaker 3: What happened exactly. And this play is about us hooking up,
- 49:56Speaker 3: like it's about the sex we were having. It's about
- 49:59Speaker 3: the fucking. Okay, I can't bring you guys in on
- 50:02Speaker 3: that play because the play is as singular as us fucking.
- 50:08Speaker 1: And at least at least you know, at least we
- 50:10Speaker 1: finish our sketch show, because where's your play? Where's your play? Guys,
- 50:13Speaker 1: where's your play?
- 50:14Speaker 5: None of your business, Sean.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Just because you invited us to your zoom sketch show
- 50:19Speaker 4: doesn't mean I have to invite you to my cathotic
- 50:22Speaker 4: like like sex play that I wrote once in a
- 50:25Speaker 4: dream state because the shrooms were half off.
- 50:29Speaker 3: The shroms were half off. It was COVID deal, so
- 50:32Speaker 3: it was nice. But we are now that we're bringing
- 50:36Speaker 3: it up, we're gonna do a table read next year.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Of the play of the play, of the.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Play of the play.
- 50:46Speaker 3: You have the play because it look it it. We
- 50:50Speaker 3: we just decided recently that you know, though our relationship
- 50:56Speaker 3: is over, maybe the art will live on, and so
- 51:00Speaker 3: we're working on getting a space for twenty twenty five.
- 51:03Speaker 4: I've been waiting for Magenta's approval, and she finally gave it.
- 51:06Speaker 5: Then I can read my sex play. I needed my
- 51:10Speaker 5: girlfriend to give me her approval for my sex play.
- 51:12Speaker 2: She was in the hospital because of all those foreign
- 51:17Speaker 2: objects they found in her stomach. Right what, Quentin?
- 51:21Speaker 5: What?
- 51:22Speaker 2: She was in the hospital for all the foign objects
- 51:24Speaker 2: they found in her stomach. Not like not the crosh
- 51:25Speaker 2: of my pants, obviously because I made that up, but
- 51:28Speaker 2: you know that hospital. She was in the hospital for
- 51:30Speaker 2: foreign objects in her stomach.
- 51:31Speaker 5: Right well, Quentin, that sounds like a hipo violation to me.
- 51:34Speaker 4: Quintin sh when you raise your voice, you just released
- 51:40Speaker 4: people's medical history.
- 51:41Speaker 5: Quentin, I'm sorry.
- 51:43Speaker 2: God should be going to jail. I should be in jail.
- 51:48Speaker 3: Okay, Quentin. Can I ask you something that I've never
- 51:51Speaker 3: asked you before?
- 51:52Speaker 2: Do you use anything?
- 51:55Speaker 3: Do you want to be a writer?
- 51:58Speaker 2: Oh? I guess I've never thought about it. Can I
- 52:03Speaker 2: get back to you.
- 52:06Speaker 3: No, Quentin, I want you to answer this for yourself
- 52:09Speaker 3: right now. I want you to look at me and
- 52:12Speaker 3: tell me two truths and a lie, and one of
- 52:15Speaker 3: those will be about whether or not you want to
- 52:17Speaker 3: be a writer, and you have to decide what's the
- 52:19Speaker 3: truth and what's the lie.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Okay, I'll do it. My first truth is that I
- 52:31Speaker 2: lost my virginity when I was fourteen years old.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's true. He keeps on talking about
- 52:39Speaker 1: it to.
- 52:39Speaker 5: Me, Sean, I disagree.
- 52:44Speaker 2: My second truth.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Is that we can't hear you.
- 52:49Speaker 3: I can't hear you.
- 52:50Speaker 2: My second truth is that when I write sometimes I
- 52:53Speaker 2: feel like my hands are covered in pins and the
- 52:57Speaker 2: only way to get them off is to put on
- 53:00Speaker 2: energy through my fingers, and they shoot out with each
- 53:03Speaker 2: word and letter and indentation. My third truth is that
- 53:13Speaker 2: gummy bears stick to the top of my mouth sometimes
- 53:18Speaker 2: if I eat them. If I if I bite them
- 53:19Speaker 2: a certain way, they get stuck in my gums, and
- 53:22Speaker 2: then I go to the dentist and they say, you've
- 53:24Speaker 2: been eating too much candy.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Okay, I'm confused because none of those were about finishing
- 53:29Speaker 1: the screen.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Foot Yeah, I'm confused. Why you didn't use one of
- 53:36Speaker 3: your truths to manifest selling the script? Lie.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Well, I'm thinking, and I'm thinking about it, and I
- 53:44Speaker 2: actually know which one the lie was.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Okay? Was the lie the gummy bears?
- 53:52Speaker 5: No?
- 53:53Speaker 2: Is that I lost my virginity when I was twenty six?
- 53:56Speaker 1: Dang, what do you keep talking about? I don't listen.
