- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Today we are talking about what is necessary.
- 0:34So it's an interesting question, right?
- 0:37There are plenty of things that you want to do.
- 0:38There are plenty of things that always seem urgent.
- 0:40I mean, I think we're all surrounded by urgent, urgent
- 0:43things. At least I'm air quoting this as
- 0:45I say it because we tend to make them urgent.
- 0:48But are they really urgent? I don't know, but think about
- 0:52what is necessary. Are things really necessary?
- 0:55Is the drama really necessary? Is the anxiety really necessary?
- 0:59Is the rushing really necessary? Is it something that you have
- 1:04ever contemplated before? What is really necessary?
- 1:08You know, sleep is necessary, water is necessary.
- 1:12Having shelter is necessary, food shopping necessary.
- 1:16Things like that are what is necessary in our world.
- 1:21But our reactions, our responses, things that are going
- 1:24on around us, what things are really necessary and what things
- 1:28are not necessary. It's an interesting place to
- 1:32take yourself and become curious about because we're mostly
- 1:35surrounded by making everything urgent.
- 1:38And as soon as you make your everything urgent, your scope
- 1:42becomes muddled and you can't even see out of it anymore.
- 1:46It's like looking through glasses with Vaseline on it.
- 1:49You can't tell everything's blurry because everything's
- 1:52urgent. So, you know, the things that we
- 1:55decide we're going to deem necessary have to be taken under
- 2:04consideration and say, yes, this is necessary.
- 2:07And the things that I focus on that are necessary, I'm going to
- 2:11do them in a way that makes me feel fulfilled.
- 2:14Doing them instead of making them just be like I got to get
- 2:18this off my To Do List and doing them with a mind of intention
- 2:22and being very pragmatic but thoughtful is an ideal way to do
- 2:29those necessary items. When you deem something, as, you
- 2:34know, a necessary item, often times we we'll label it like, oh
- 2:40God, it's a pain in the butt or it's a nuisance or it's not
- 2:45something I love to do. So the question is removing
- 2:49things from being urgent, removing things from getting to
- 2:52that place of being, you know, hyper, like just making my
- 2:59anxiety go through the roof and getting down to OK once I get
- 3:03past that phase, OK, do I even need to do this?
- 3:07Is this something that is going to move me further from my goals
- 3:11or closer to my goals? And I use the word goals, but it
- 3:15can be outcomes, it can be intentions, it can be whatever
- 3:17words you want, but are things moving you closer to it or
- 3:21further away from it? And that helps you understand,
- 3:24you know, and, and keeping that pace of necessary versus urgent
- 3:32also helps keep you in a place of on a peaceful track as
- 3:36opposed to a reactive track. I think a lot of times when we
- 3:39get urgent, we get so reactive because we have to hurry, hurry,
- 3:42hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry doesn't help us at all.
- 3:47Never has, never will. So what's so important is to
- 3:50remember that in the big scope of things in the big, like, OK,
- 3:56we're going to go down this road of looking at our life and, and
- 3:59really focusing our intention on being happier.
- 4:05When you can contemplate the necessary items in a true way of
- 4:11being very honest with yourself as opposed to reactive, you're
- 4:17going to notice a total different outcome.
- 4:21And when you look at the necessary items and you accept
- 4:24them as this is just part of being a human being.
- 4:27Like I was trying to explain to my son, you know, there are
- 4:29certain things about being a human and being a valuable part
- 4:33of the human race that you just have to take on, like self-care,
- 4:37like brushing your teeth, taking a shower, being like, you know,
- 4:41doing your studying, being somebody who's trying to better
- 4:44themselves. These are all healthy parts of
- 4:46things and they are necessary items.
- 4:48So if they're necessary, do them in a way that makes too proud of
- 4:52doing them. Allow yourself that joy of
- 4:55taking it on that way as opposed to taking it on in a way that
- 4:58makes you feel like, oh gosh, here we go again.
- 5:01So this is necessary. You know, some people get so
- 5:04sick of going food shopping. And I think to myself, I think
- 5:07it's kind of a fun thing to do because you're headed out,
- 5:10you're going into the store and you can make it fun because
- 5:14you're looking for different things.
- 5:15You're you're looking at different people, you're
- 5:17smiling, you're saying hello. There are plenty of ways to make
- 5:21it a fun thing to do. Not to mention the fact that we
- 5:24live in a country where there's a lot of options for this.
- 5:28And to me, that just makes me smile because we don't struggle
- 5:32to find food in that way. So just ask yourself, do I want
- 5:38to live in a world where everything is urgent?
- 5:42Probably not. And the things that aren't
- 5:44necessary, do I want to do them while I'm unhappy?
- 5:47Or would I like to try to make them happy places for me to go
- 5:50because they are necessary and they are part of being human.
- 5:54All right, my friends, I hope you have a great day, a blessed
- 5:57day, and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:58Bye.
