Ron Mercer, the electrifying Kentucky guard who led the Wildcats to the 1996 national title as a freshman and the 1997 Final Four as a sophomore, was officially enshrined in the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame — a fitting honor for the Nashville native and two-time Tennessee “Mr. Basketball.” A two-time consensus All-American and SEC Player of the Year, Mercer scored over 1,000 points in just two college seasons before launching an eight-year NBA career with seven teams, including the Celtics, Bulls, and Spurs — and even earning All-Rookie First Team honors.
