Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello everybody, it is Sunday morning. I'm just gonna come
- 0:03Speaker 1: here to give you a little bit of a roundup
- 0:05Speaker 1: of everything we know about that shooting that happened last
- 0:08Speaker 1: night at the White House Correspondence dinner. Lots of details.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We've chosen to take a little bit of time so
- 0:14Speaker 1: we can provide you a fullsome picture, and of course
- 0:17Speaker 1: we're gonna have more details for everybody tomorrow. Let's go
- 0:19Speaker 1: ahead and start here with the video of what happened.
- 0:23Speaker 1: This is, by far, I think the most close up
- 0:27Speaker 1: video that we can all see. That was taken by
- 0:30Speaker 1: a Getty photographer. So I'm gonna go ahead and play
- 0:33Speaker 1: a little bit of this, and I know that some
- 0:35Speaker 1: of the imaging here is a little bit chaotic.
- 0:38Speaker 2: There we go. This is the video of the.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Vice President and the President being escorted from the stage
- 0:44Speaker 1: of the White House Correspondence dinner.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Let's take a watch. So that was the video.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I'm sure many of you have seen many other angles.
- 1:15Speaker 1: There was the one that was taken from the head
- 1:17Speaker 1: on shot that I saw. That that one you could
- 1:19Speaker 1: both see the President who appears to have either stumbled
- 1:22Speaker 1: or gone down on the floor. He was picked up
- 1:24Speaker 1: and then taken across. The woman crawling behind him is
- 1:27Speaker 1: Wija Jang. She's the President of the White House. Correspondent
- 1:30Speaker 1: sent her. And then the first lady was in front
- 1:32Speaker 1: of the president. The vice president was ushered off of
- 1:34Speaker 1: a different side of the stage in the background and
- 1:38Speaker 1: appears to have been taken off first. So that was
- 1:40Speaker 1: the video, I'm sure. Again, there's so many different video angles.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Cabinet officials, RFK Junior, almost the entire cabinet was there,
- 1:47Speaker 1: a full spectrum of the line of succession from the
- 1:50Speaker 1: Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. Almost the entire cabinet
- 1:53Speaker 1: was President in an attendant, senior administration officials, the vice president,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and the president all sharing the stage, And I think
- 1:59Speaker 1: that's what sets the stage for what a shocking incident
- 2:02Speaker 1: that this all is. Speaking personally, I've probably spent days
- 2:05Speaker 1: of my life in secret service lines, like trying to
- 2:08Speaker 1: get into conventions, the DNC, many others, and so to
- 2:12Speaker 1: see a shooting that's able to take place at an
- 2:14Speaker 1: event with the President of the United States. In addition
- 2:17Speaker 1: to a significant amount of the cabinet, I think some
- 2:19Speaker 1: Supreme Court justices were there, Members of the House of
- 2:22Speaker 1: our presentatives in addition to the Speaker of the House,
- 2:25Speaker 1: who is third in line for succession. I mean, it's
- 2:27Speaker 1: genuinely shocking. And so again, just to stick to all
- 2:31Speaker 1: of the things that we do know, we do have
- 2:34Speaker 1: this video which was shared late last night by the President.
- 2:37Speaker 1: This is the video surveillance photo of the President shared
- 2:45Speaker 1: which appears to show the gunman and I will give
- 2:48Speaker 1: you some details on him here in a little bit
- 2:51Speaker 1: actually charging the Secret Service cord. Obviously the video is
- 2:55Speaker 1: very grainy, but we can take a look here. It
- 2:57Speaker 1: looks like this is a Secret Service perimeter and you're
- 3:00Speaker 1: were about to see him come running through, so you
- 3:03Speaker 1: could see him. He's sprinting through with a gun and
- 3:06Speaker 1: immediately these Secret Service agents spring into action. Now, a
- 3:10Speaker 1: little bit of what we do know here is that
- 3:12Speaker 1: the gunman appears to have popped some shots off with
- 3:15Speaker 1: a makeshift shotgun. The shotgun did appear to hit a
- 3:19Speaker 1: Secret Service agent in a bulletproof vest who's been transported
- 3:23Speaker 1: to the hospital and is fine. That's all what we
- 3:25Speaker 1: know so far in terms of the weapon that was used.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Actually in the course of the shooting. Now, witnesses described
- 3:31Speaker 1: from five to six different shots it appears that some
- 3:34Speaker 1: of those shots were initially fired by the gunman, then
- 3:38Speaker 1: Secret Service firing at him. However, it is important to say,
- 3:41Speaker 1: and I think this will get a little bit later
- 3:43Speaker 1: on here in a little bit about what exactly happened,
- 3:47Speaker 1: is that the suspect appears to have been taken in custody.
- 3:52Speaker 1: This is a photo which was shared again by the
- 3:54Speaker 1: President late last night. Is down on the ground in
- 3:58Speaker 1: the lobby of the Washington Hilton. He does appear to
- 4:02Speaker 1: be unharmed, so even though multiple shots were fired at him,
- 4:07Speaker 1: it doesn't look like he was hit. And Wolf Blitzer,
- 4:10Speaker 1: the CNN anchor, was actually in the lobby while all
- 4:13Speaker 1: of this was going down. He said he didn't see
- 4:14Speaker 1: any blood. Now we haven't seen a full release or
- 4:17Speaker 1: anything of his condition, but just wanted to share all
- 4:19Speaker 1: of that with you. So that's what we know here
- 4:22Speaker 1: about the initial details with the president runoff. We know
- 4:24Speaker 1: that there were a couple of shots fired in the
- 4:26Speaker 1: Washington Hilton. And of course Washington Hilton is not only
- 4:29Speaker 1: where the White House Corresponds dinner is held every single year,
- 4:32Speaker 1: it is also the site of President's Reagan. President Reagan's
- 4:35Speaker 1: attempted assassination attempt. Again, part of which make this so
- 4:38Speaker 1: surreal and shocking is to the area. And you know,
- 4:41Speaker 1: let me just take a little bit of time here.
- 4:43Speaker 1: If you ever attended to DNC, the RNC Trump rally,
- 4:46Speaker 1: or you know, anything, especially where there's going to be
- 4:49Speaker 1: multiple VIPs, there are levels of security. So what we
- 4:53Speaker 1: know about this event is that there were these metal
- 4:56Speaker 1: detectors that are in that you need to pass through
- 4:59Speaker 1: to get into the ballroom. But the security perimeter actually
- 5:02Speaker 1: did not shut down the entire Washington Hilton, which explains
- 5:06Speaker 1: things because one of the things that we're learning about
- 5:07Speaker 1: this gunman is that he apparently had made a reservation
- 5:10Speaker 1: at this hotel in April. Right, So he made this
- 5:14Speaker 1: hotel reservation in April. I can go ahead and share
- 5:18Speaker 1: that right here. This is from Catherine Falder's law enforcement
- 5:21Speaker 1: officials said he is believed to have booked a room
- 5:23Speaker 1: in the Hilton in early April, declining to answer questions
- 5:26Speaker 1: right now, but allegedly made some reference to targeting administration
- 5:28Speaker 1: officials was not specific. Okay, so he made this reservation
- 5:32Speaker 1: in April, and it appears the DC police telling us
- 5:35Speaker 1: late last night that actually he was a guest at
- 5:38Speaker 1: the hotel, and it checked in earlier and appears to
- 5:40Speaker 1: have brought some of the weapons in in his luggage.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Now again this is very very shocking. I mean again,
- 5:46Speaker 1: to be DNC or an RNC or any event, even
- 5:50Speaker 1: private events actually that the president or the vice president
- 5:53Speaker 1: will enter, you have to go through multiple levels of
- 5:56Speaker 1: security just to get near the building. I'm talking about.
- 5:59Speaker 1: If you're on your purse, you'll you know, you have
- 6:01Speaker 1: to pass through the metal detectors. You may or may not,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you know, X ray machines for example, luggage, anything that
- 6:07Speaker 1: you're trying to bring in and out of this type
- 6:09Speaker 1: of building. None of that appear to have been the
- 6:11Speaker 1: case this time around. Now, the President did give a
- 6:15Speaker 1: some remarks last night, so and again just to give
- 6:18Speaker 1: everybody what part of what made this all sort of
- 6:20Speaker 1: surreal was this shooting happens the president, the vice president,
- 6:24Speaker 1: the entire cabinet is rushed off. So then an announcement
- 6:26Speaker 1: comes on and they say that the programming is going
- 6:29Speaker 1: to resume.
- 6:29Speaker 2: The President actually puts out a truth social post.
- 6:32Speaker 1: It appears from some sort of holding room in the
- 6:34Speaker 1: very same building where he is saying, I want the
- 6:36Speaker 1: show to go on, but I'm going to refer to
- 6:38Speaker 1: law enforcement officials. Eventually, the Secret Service is just like,
- 6:41Speaker 1: we have to cancel this entire thing. The President has
- 6:43Speaker 1: to leave.
- 6:44Speaker 2: So he leaves.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He actually goes back to the White House, calls a
- 6:47Speaker 1: press conference at some ten point thirty pm Eastern time.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Many of the reporters you will see are in their
- 6:54Speaker 1: you know, regalia, because they ran from the Washington Hilton
- 6:58Speaker 1: back to the White House. I'm trying to think I've
- 7:00Speaker 1: done that a couple of times. It's not that close,
- 7:03Speaker 1: maybe a mile and a half, like two miles something.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So anyway, so many of them were sweaty, and some
- 7:08Speaker 1: of them haarently took scooters. So here's some of the remarks.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna play a little bit of them just so
- 7:12Speaker 1: you can get a sense of what the initial statement
- 7:15Speaker 1: for the president was.
- 7:17Speaker 3: This was an event dedicated to freedom of speech that
- 7:22Speaker 3: was supposed to bring together members of both parties with
- 7:25Speaker 3: members of the press, and in a certain way it did.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Because the fact that they just unified us to a
- 7:34Speaker 3: room that was just totally unified. It was in one
- 7:36Speaker 3: way very beautiful, a very beautiful thing to see a
- 7:39Speaker 3: man charged a security checkpoint, armed with multiple weapons, and
- 7:46Speaker 3: he was taken down by some very brave members of
- 7:48Speaker 3: Secret Service, and they acted very quickly. And I've just
- 7:52Speaker 3: released for purposes of transparency clarity, I've ordered it to
- 7:59Speaker 3: be put out, probably have it by now put out
- 8:01Speaker 3: on Truth and put out on many of the platforms,
- 8:05Speaker 3: a tape showing the violence of thisug that attacked our
- 8:09Speaker 3: constitution and also showing how quickly Secret Service and law
- 8:13Speaker 3: enforcement acted on our country's behalf.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Okay, so that was the initial statement. It was really,
- 8:19Speaker 1: you know, not too many questions, but basically detailing what happened.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Cash Betel also was in attendance, he was rushed out.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You can read some of the details of how all
- 8:28Speaker 1: that went down, which perhaps, you know, we'll definitely have
- 8:31Speaker 1: a lot more to say of it tomorrow. I'm just
- 8:33Speaker 1: trying to do a general news roundup now in terms
- 8:35Speaker 1: of the suspect, some of the things that we know
- 8:38Speaker 1: now so far. I'm gonna go ahead and share this
- 8:40Speaker 1: from the Wall Street Journal. The suspect's name is Cole Allen,
- 8:45Speaker 1: who is now in custody after an attack outside of
- 8:48Speaker 1: the White House correspondents dinner. He is a graduate of
- 8:51Speaker 1: Caltech University. He was a teacher of the month, and
- 8:54Speaker 1: he has been named as the Washington shooting suspect. Thirty
- 8:58Speaker 1: one years old. He was Fromlawrence, California. So what we know,
- 9:02Speaker 1: as you can all see here, is that he was
- 9:05Speaker 1: armed with a shotgun, handgun and knives and was a
- 9:07Speaker 1: guest at the Washington Hilton where the dinner was taking place.
- 9:10Speaker 1: They have not yet shared a motive, as they said
- 9:13Speaker 1: that Trump has called the shooter quote a lone wolf
- 9:15Speaker 1: and a whack job. Allen graduated from Caltech, one of
- 9:19Speaker 1: the most academically rigorous schools in America, in twenty seventeen
- 9:22Speaker 1: with a degree in mechanical engineering. Appears to have been
- 9:25Speaker 1: an intern or a fellow I think at JPL with NASA.
- 9:28Speaker 1: So very very bright individual. He was registered with no
- 9:32Speaker 1: party preference. It donated twenty five dollars to Act Blue
- 9:35Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four with a memo quote earmarked for
- 9:38Speaker 1: Harris for President. He worked as a teacher at C
- 9:42Speaker 1: two Education, a private tutoring and test prep company, where
- 9:45Speaker 1: he was named the teacher of the month in December
- 9:48Speaker 1: of twenty twenty four, and he also pursued a master's
- 9:51Speaker 1: degree in computer science from cal State University. Posted a
- 9:55Speaker 1: photo of himself in a cap and gown last year
- 9:57Speaker 1: on LinkedIn, writing pretty sure my master's in CS is done.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Lives in Torrents, fifteen miles from Los Angeles, in a
- 10:03Speaker 1: middle class neighborhood primarily composed of single level ranch homes.
- 10:07Speaker 1: A blue scooter was parked on his lawn and the
- 10:09Speaker 1: neighbor said he had seen Allan riding it around the neighborhood.
- 10:12Speaker 1: So obviously big questions here. How did it even get
- 10:15Speaker 1: from Torrance, California to the White House correspondence dinner. We
- 10:19Speaker 1: do know a little bit about that from the initial
- 10:22Speaker 1: statement here, which was released by the Deputy Attorney or
- 10:26Speaker 1: I guess the acting Attorney General now Todd Blanche. He
- 10:28Speaker 1: said in an interview this morning that the suspect call
- 10:31Speaker 1: Allan traveled from LA to DC via train and passed
- 10:35Speaker 1: through Chicago on the way, and so obviously a very
- 10:39Speaker 1: very long way of getting across, likely perhaps transporting weapons
- 10:43Speaker 1: the handgun, the shotgun and the knives that he had
- 10:47Speaker 1: in his luggage which he used and checked in the hotel,
- 10:50Speaker 1: but obviously premeditated attack. If you're booking a hotel long
- 10:54Speaker 1: in before. We don't really know a lot about him,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and he is not really cooperating with authorities. They're telling
- 10:58Speaker 1: people that he was target quote administration officials, So obviously
- 11:02Speaker 1: huge question marks surrounding still this entire incident. I think
- 11:07Speaker 1: the big story outside of you know, not just the
- 11:10Speaker 1: official details. And let me just of course say, I'm
- 11:13Speaker 1: just choosing to do an entire news roundup for many
- 11:15Speaker 1: of you who still have bigger questions about the assassination
- 11:18Speaker 1: don't or sorry, the assassination attempt, we will or perhaps
- 11:22Speaker 1: even just a shooting. I shouldn't even necessarily say that
- 11:24Speaker 1: we don't know any of that yet. We will do
- 11:26Speaker 1: more of a deep dive tomorrow. You know, the team
- 11:28Speaker 1: and I were all researching all of this, but I'm
- 11:31Speaker 1: just sticking with what we know and what the official
- 11:33Speaker 1: story is now so far from the government. So I
- 11:35Speaker 1: just want to make that very very clear. Here is
- 11:38Speaker 1: a weird and frankly bizarre comment from the from the
- 11:44Speaker 1: Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche who said that the gunman
- 11:48Speaker 1: was able to fire five to eight shots when he
- 11:50Speaker 1: charged through a security checkpoint outside the dinner, and she asked,
- 11:54Speaker 1: was the same massive security failure and he says, to
- 11:56Speaker 1: the contrary, it was a massive security success story.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Let's take a listen.
- 12:01Speaker 1: The gunman was able to fire at least five to
- 12:04Speaker 1: eight shots when he charged through a security checkpoint outside
- 12:08Speaker 1: the dinner.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Was this a massive security failure? Oh, to the contrary,
- 12:15Speaker 4: it was a massive security success story. I mean, if
- 12:18Speaker 4: you think about what happened as far as what we
- 12:21Speaker 4: know right now, this suspect barely breached the perimeter. And
- 12:25Speaker 4: so when you have a perimeter of a situation like
- 12:28Speaker 4: we had last night, where you had over two thousand
- 12:31Speaker 4: people in a room, including the leaders of this country
- 12:34Speaker 4: and many other dignitaries, you have a perimeter where you
- 12:38Speaker 4: have law enforcement willing to risk their lives to keep
- 12:42Speaker 4: people who don't belong from getting in. This man, from
- 12:45Speaker 4: what we know from video surveillance and from witnesses who
- 12:48Speaker 4: were there, barely got past the perimeter. He was immediately subdued.
- 12:54Speaker 4: And yes, he got off a couple shots. Our brave
- 12:56Speaker 4: Secret Service agent who took one to the chest although
- 13:00Speaker 4: he was wearing a bulletproof vest. The President talked to
- 13:03Speaker 4: him last night from the Oval Office. He was in
- 13:05Speaker 4: great spirits. He was very appreciative. The President expressed is appreciation.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Okay, so you could see there that the Deputy Attorney
- 13:12Speaker 1: General was calling this a massive security security success story.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I can just say, as an independent person, I don't
- 13:20Speaker 1: think that is in any way true. So the Washington Hilton,
- 13:23Speaker 1: as I said, I've been to that hotel many times.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I used to live right next to it, and that
- 13:28Speaker 1: Washington Hilton apparently, so there's the ballroom which is inside
- 13:32Speaker 1: of the hotel, but the rest of the hotel was
- 13:34Speaker 1: not locked down, not just for guests, and obviously he
- 13:36Speaker 1: was a guest at the hotel, and the security No,
- 13:38Speaker 1: there was no X ray luggage. I have attended events
- 13:41Speaker 1: in the past as a reporter where I had a
- 13:43Speaker 1: suitcase or something like that, let's say, had to bring
- 13:45Speaker 1: it to an event that had to be passed through
- 13:47Speaker 1: an X ray machine. And I'm talking about hours before
- 13:50Speaker 1: any sort of VIP we're even going to get there.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So that's what kind of makes this a little weird, right,
- 13:54Speaker 1: So there was no standard security protocol. So there's that
- 13:57Speaker 1: Number two is again for anybody whos attended some of
- 14:00Speaker 1: these events, it's the entire building is usually locked down.
- 14:03Speaker 1: You can't even go in and out We also have
- 14:06Speaker 1: a lot of testimony from guests who were shocked at
- 14:09Speaker 1: the lack of security at the event. I'm not going
- 14:11Speaker 1: to play all of this, but this was Simone Sanders,
- 14:14Speaker 1: who was recounting how poor the security was at the
- 14:17Speaker 1: White House. Corresponded to her. She says, I actually showed
- 14:19Speaker 1: up to the Hilton shortly after eight pm. I took
- 14:22Speaker 1: a scooter right up to the front of the driveway.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Again, there's usually barricades, multiple different checkpoints at this bit
- 14:29Speaker 1: matters because, you know, because there's a lot of protesters
- 14:31Speaker 1: outside a lot of those barricades before you actually enter
- 14:33Speaker 1: into the driveway. This year, there were no protesters. I
- 14:36Speaker 1: came to find out. People were milling about in the
- 14:38Speaker 1: lobby when I got off the scooter and into the
- 14:40Speaker 1: front of the barricade. Usually have to show ID and
- 14:43Speaker 1: a ticket. The folks the security at the gate, who
- 14:45Speaker 1: were not agents. They were identified as Secret Service, they
- 14:48Speaker 1: were not identified as Secret Search agents. They did not
- 14:50Speaker 1: ask me to show ID. They did not ask me
- 14:52Speaker 1: to show a ticket. They said, oh, you're good, I'm
- 14:54Speaker 1: sure you're going to your room. She said she wasn't
- 14:56Speaker 1: even saying there as I entered into the driveway. I
- 14:58Speaker 1: saw the vehicle, the Beast was driving around in a
- 15:01Speaker 1: circle of the Hilton driveway, people walking around near it
- 15:04Speaker 1: taking photos. Again, you're not like, I'm not just a layman.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I cover the White House, I've been in the motor cad,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I've attended dozens of these events as a professional, and
- 15:17Speaker 1: I'm telling you, like, this is not normal. When I
- 15:20Speaker 1: entered into the Hilton, I asked Secret Service agents, which
- 15:23Speaker 1: I saw they were identified as Secret Service agents, which
- 15:25Speaker 1: way the ballroom was. They said they didn't know. When
- 15:28Speaker 1: I finally got to the elevator, no one asked me
- 15:30Speaker 1: to show my ID, No one asked me to show
- 15:31Speaker 1: a ticket. I got all the way down to the
- 15:33Speaker 1: red carpet area without ever showing a ticket to anyone
- 15:35Speaker 1: in the Hilton. I'm saying it like this because this
- 15:38Speaker 1: is unusual. So I went to the DNC right with
- 15:40Speaker 1: the whole team, B and Ryan. We passed through probably
- 15:43Speaker 1: four barricades before you're even allowed to get into the
- 15:46Speaker 1: convention as a journalist, even with the press credentials hard
- 15:49Speaker 1: press credentials which have your photo, your name, that means
- 15:52Speaker 1: you've been pre cleared and all of that by Secret
- 15:54Speaker 1: Service the amount of rigormarole that you often have to
- 15:57Speaker 1: go through if you're not traveling in the President's mote,
- 16:00Speaker 1: just to be able to get to this event. I
- 16:02Speaker 1: mean again, literally days of my life the Beast.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 1: The only time that you're generally like allowed around the
- 16:09Speaker 1: Beast normally is if you're in the motorcade and then
- 16:12Speaker 1: you can't get out of your vehicle and go up
- 16:15Speaker 1: to the President's I mean, look, you know, words barely
- 16:20Speaker 1: begin to describe. And some members of Congress are also
- 16:24Speaker 1: highlighting this. Here's Mike Lawler, the congressman. He's saying, while
- 16:29Speaker 1: the security perimeter outside of the ballroom worked, the Secret
- 16:32Speaker 1: Service in the federal law enforcement acted swiftly to secure
- 16:34Speaker 1: the ballroom and move the president and high level officials
- 16:37Speaker 1: out of harm's way. The fact is numerous glaring security issues.
- 16:40Speaker 1: There was no photo ID, no verified list of attendees,
- 16:43Speaker 1: which is very common for a White House event, not
- 16:45Speaker 1: just commonism, that's the standard. There were no magnetometers before
- 16:48Speaker 1: the ballroom. Prior to the event. There were numerous receptions
- 16:51Speaker 1: that someone could have easily gotten into with limited security.
- 16:54Speaker 1: The building was still open to the general public. Without
- 16:56Speaker 1: getting into details, I will just say there was not
- 16:58Speaker 1: a good handle on how how many members of this
- 17:01Speaker 1: Congress were at the event and where they were in
- 17:02Speaker 1: the room. There needs to be a complete, thorough after
- 17:05Speaker 1: action report as to how the gunman got from his
- 17:07Speaker 1: hotel room into a secure area with numerous guns. I
- 17:10Speaker 1: will also note we'll go much more into detail this tomorrow.
- 17:13Speaker 1: There is a reported you know, shooting that happened a
- 17:16Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago, apparently near the White House, which
- 17:19Speaker 1: no details that the Secret Service has been able to
- 17:22Speaker 1: run down. The trail has gone completely cold. There have
- 17:25Speaker 1: been numerous of these types of incidents. There's a report
- 17:27Speaker 1: out of there that Trump has apparently been subject to
- 17:29Speaker 1: more assassination or like public assassination plots, I think than
- 17:33Speaker 1: any modern president. And to see the breakdown in the
- 17:37Speaker 1: security perimeter, I think it is very valid for all
- 17:40Speaker 1: of us to ask a lot of questions about how
- 17:42Speaker 1: all of this happened, and the fact that the administration frankly,
- 17:46Speaker 1: I mean, look, I can only speculate, but you know
- 17:49Speaker 1: them praising the Secret Service, and of course we can
- 17:51Speaker 1: praise the individual agents, but at an overall planning level,
- 17:54Speaker 1: this is not normal. As I said here, just about
- 17:56Speaker 1: the Hilton Hotel, the Hilton ballroom, about how the fact
- 18:00Speaker 1: that public people were allowed, in the fact that there
- 18:02Speaker 1: was apparently no scrutiny of guts, the fact, I mean,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I could go on forever, like the beast detail there
- 18:07Speaker 1: that was shared. There have been multiple guests, now, not
- 18:10Speaker 1: just that one person I'm not cherry picking, who talked
- 18:12Speaker 1: about the lack of security and how the fact there
- 18:14Speaker 1: was really no security going into the ballroom itself and
- 18:16Speaker 1: not securing the entire hotel, the fact, you know, look,
- 18:20Speaker 1: who is this guy Caltech University not currently cooperating. We know,
- 18:26Speaker 1: took out for a train from California to Washington, d C.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Booked a room sometime in April. Let's you know it
- 18:31Speaker 1: more sophisticated level of planning necessarily than some sort of
- 18:35Speaker 1: opportune style moment. Maybe a kind I would say to
- 18:38Speaker 1: the Vegas the Vegas shooting that happened, I think that
- 18:41Speaker 1: was in twenty seventeen, which remains, you know, totally basically
- 18:44Speaker 1: unsolved in terms of like why that any of that
- 18:46Speaker 1: even happened today, still tons of questions around all of that.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So everybody, you know, be be very screwtinous. I think
- 18:54Speaker 1: of a lot of the statements, and it's not like,
- 18:56Speaker 1: you know, you have good reason not to have total
- 18:58Speaker 1: faith in Cash Betel, who is said to be leading
- 19:01Speaker 1: the investigation. So yeah, we're going to spend on a
- 19:04Speaker 1: decent amount of time going through even more of what
- 19:07Speaker 1: we know, don't know some of the statements made by
- 19:10Speaker 1: the President, by the press secretary before any of this
- 19:13Speaker 1: and all happened. But I did just want to give
- 19:15Speaker 1: a full rundown of everything that we know right now,
- 19:18Speaker 1: with also the appropriate level of skepticism as we have seen,
- 19:22Speaker 1: look at a breaking situation, things are always wrong. Don't
- 19:25Speaker 1: forget that. Initially CNN said that the shooter was dead.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Now they said he's not even hurt. You know, Initially
- 19:30Speaker 1: there was oh, somebody might have been shot, and yes
- 19:33Speaker 1: it was a Secret Service agent, but you know, he
- 19:35Speaker 1: wasn't shot and hurt, so I guess it is technically true.
- 19:38Speaker 1: But there's a lot of details like that that were
- 19:40Speaker 1: very chaotic also the Secret Service, you know, in security
- 19:43Speaker 1: details of all these cabinet officials running in and escorting
- 19:46Speaker 1: these people out, and then what happened you know, in
- 19:49Speaker 1: the hours after that, and what exactly the detail and
- 19:51Speaker 1: decision to cancel the event. What that all kind of
- 19:54Speaker 1: broke down into. So there will be quite a bit
- 19:57Speaker 1: I think of talking about this now in the coming days.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And last thing just to give you a little bit
- 20:03Speaker 1: of a preview of what the main takeaway from the
- 20:06Speaker 1: President and some of the supporters are here is Trump
- 20:10Speaker 1: this morning. What happened last night is exactly the reason
- 20:13Speaker 1: that our great military, secret Service, law enforcement, and for
- 20:16Speaker 1: different reasons, every president for the last one hundred and
- 20:18Speaker 1: fifty years have been demanding a large, safe and secure
- 20:21Speaker 1: ballroom be built on the grounds of the White House.
- 20:24Speaker 1: This event would never have happened with a militarily top
- 20:26Speaker 1: secret ballroom currently under construction of the White House. It
- 20:29Speaker 1: cannot be built fast enough. While beautiful, it has every
- 20:32Speaker 1: highest level security feature, there is a plus. There are
- 20:34Speaker 1: no rooms sitting on top for unsecured people to pour
- 20:37Speaker 1: in as inside the gates of the most secure building
- 20:39Speaker 1: in the world, White House. The ridiculous ballroom lawsuit brought
- 20:42Speaker 1: by a woman walking her dog, I don't know what
- 20:45Speaker 1: this is about, who has absolutely no standing, must be dropped.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Nothing should be allowed to interfere with its construction, which
- 20:50Speaker 1: is on budget and substantially ahead of schedule. Thank you
- 20:52Speaker 1: for your attention to this matter, President Trump. So that's
- 20:55Speaker 1: been echoed by the President at the podium yesterday in
- 20:58Speaker 1: his most recent true social post. So I believe even
- 21:01Speaker 1: John Fetterman another's saying, now it's enough to drop the
- 21:03Speaker 1: TDS to support the construction of the ballroom, which appears
- 21:06Speaker 1: to be I guess, you know, outside of not just
- 21:08Speaker 1: secret service takeaway, which is kind of what I think
- 21:10Speaker 1: it should be, and or questions you know about the
- 21:12Speaker 1: official story is also about the ballroom, right, so apparently
- 21:16Speaker 1: you know this is now the reason why it absolutely
- 21:19Speaker 1: must and has to be built. We can talk about
- 21:22Speaker 1: that at a later time. You know, I don't usually
- 21:24Speaker 1: want to immediately pile on with obviously, which is not
- 21:28Speaker 1: the most important story of this. So I hope this
- 21:31Speaker 1: is helpful for kind of understanding everything that we from
- 21:34Speaker 1: shooting what we know suspect Caltech grad Cole Allen currently custody,
- 21:39Speaker 1: the fact that the president, the initial statements and all
- 21:42Speaker 1: that about how and wet this all went down from
- 21:45Speaker 1: law enforcement.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Then we got to.
- 21:47Speaker 1: The ballroom, which seems to be like a bigger thing
- 21:50Speaker 1: and bigger, much bigger question to me. The United States
- 21:53Speaker 1: Secret Service. I don't know why I've been wasting all
- 21:55Speaker 1: my time in all these lines if this keep happening
- 21:58Speaker 1: something like this. So that's just my own personal takeaway.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It really is just, you know, can't understand enough. I'm
- 22:04Speaker 1: sure you've heard this from every person who's quote in
- 22:06Speaker 1: the new but you know, if you've ever had to
- 22:08Speaker 1: be in through so many dozens of these types of thing,
- 22:11Speaker 1: it's crazy. That was my first takeaway. I could not
- 22:15Speaker 1: believe the security failure, just in terms of the perimeter
- 22:20Speaker 1: and how it all went down. I've never seen anything
- 22:23Speaker 1: like it, and I have been to multiple of these
- 22:26Speaker 1: types of events over the years. So that's what we got,
- 22:30Speaker 1: and we will see you all tomorrow, as we said,
- 22:33Speaker 1: with some bigger questions if we need to about some
- 22:36Speaker 1: of the information that's coming out the fallout and any
- 22:38Speaker 1: potential investigation and new details. Thank you all very much.
- 22:41Speaker 1: We'll see you later.
