- 0:06Here's your host, Alex Garrett. Well here on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network.
- 0:13I hope you enjoyed my conversation with both Brennan Doman, the man behind
- 0:20the Strangers Project. I always think there are two Brandon's taking NYC by storm
- 0:25every day, Brandon Sinon the Humans of New York and Brandon Doman of the
- 0:30Strangers Project bringing that all the way from Michigan. So very cool to find
- 0:36out at a bit more about that, and of course Derek Cook and knowing
- 0:40about Derek's bags during Spina Bifida Awareness Month, so you can listen to that
- 0:45in the link below. The engagement has made more radio rounds. Heritage of
- 0:51Faith and WMCA made mention of it, and very thankful and blessed to have
- 0:57their support, as well as doctor Williams and my Health lead once again Nick
- 1:03Tomorrow and even legal lowdown with Imron and Sorry and abk Law and I found
- 1:08out Arthur I Dalla also made a mention, Look, I never intended to
- 1:14have a radio type engagement, but I guess that's what's happens when you're in
- 1:17the media. And our reminder this as much, if not more Gabrielle's engagement
- 1:23as much as mine, and I wanted that to be known right here on
- 1:26the show. I also wanted to be known that there are a couple things
- 1:30that have been on my mind. Obviously, the loss of Matthew Perry has
- 1:34been devastating for nineties kids and people who loved him as an actor, as
- 1:41a person, loved his charisma on the on the screen. Wasn't some movies
- 1:47as well over the years, But Man fifty four, that's just tragic drowning.
- 1:53I'm sure there's more to come about that, but I want to get
- 1:57to one big issue this week, and it is the fact that when you
- 2:06say pro Palestine, I firmly believe you do not mean the pro Palestine people.
- 2:12I know I've said it before, but when you say pro Palestine,
- 2:15I feel like you're advocating for the government to continue. And I never really
- 2:23understood the connection. But Hamas leads the government. So when you say pro
- 2:29Palestine and you say it in such a vile, clashing with the cops kind
- 2:35of way, you don't want peace in the Middle East. You want the
- 2:39eradication of more and more of the Jewish people. And I'm sick and tired
- 2:46of seeing the classes. I'm sick and tired that that core doesn't see how
- 2:53peaceful Jewish organizations have been in reaction to this horror, horrible terrorist attack on
- 3:01October seventh. So peaceful they've laid out Shabbat tables in the hopes of getting
- 3:07the two hundred plus hostages out of the Harmas grips, So peaceful that they
- 3:14really only do rallies and they don't really clash with the police. In fact,
- 3:19the police going shut down a Hasiitic funeral led by Bell Deblasio during the
- 3:27pandemic. All they did was organize outdoors to honor a fallen in the community,
- 3:36but that was shut down. Did they shut down the pro Palestinian clashes
- 3:42in Grand Central? Not long enough to wear a Grand Central, not quick
- 3:46enough. Grand Central had to be really closed for business, and delays and
- 3:53delays and delays. I mean to see. That broke my heart that it
- 4:00seems like the pro Palestinian forces have been given free reign in this city,
- 4:08and that's not how the Jewish people have operated. They've operated, not classroom
- 4:13with anybody, but simply laying out Shabbat tables in Times Square to honor those
- 4:18that are missing and so that's been on my mind all weekend, and I'm
- 4:25glad I could get that off my chest. And then there's one more thing.
- 4:30Did you hear what happened in to the UN this week? You know
- 4:32that building where supposedly it's the United Nations, Only there were two resolutions this
- 4:41week that condemned, that were vetoed, and those resolutions condemned to Moss.
- 4:50And you're telling me right now, I'm sorry, you're telling me right now
- 4:59that the UNNGA, when discussing aid and the hostage crisis in the Middle East
- 5:11this past Thursday, urged along with the United States, to delay ground invasion
- 5:18in Gaza, which has been going on. I hear there's a lot of
- 5:23media blackouts there, which is very concerning. But on Wednesday, two resolutions
- 5:30calling for a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid or vetoed by the UN Security Council.
- 5:38The United States resolution called for a pause in fighting to allow aid access,
- 5:44protection of civilians, and to stop armingham Mass and other groups in the
- 5:48Gaza strip. That's, you know, calling for a ceasefire now is a
- 5:58little troublesome for me, because that shows the UN Security Council does not want
- 6:03Israel to defend themselves. That's kind of when you say, don't cease fire
- 6:06against a Hamas terrorists organization. But here's where I really get pistol. Both
- 6:15resolutions condemned the actions of Hamas, and that was vetoed. So I guess,
- 6:26in one way, okay, they don't want they don't want to cease
- 6:29fire, which is kind of in favor of Israel. But by the other
- 6:32token, they don't condemn Hamas as a body at the UN. What is
- 6:40going on over there in the place I live next to for the first ten
- 6:44years of my life. Of course we should have peace out there. Of
- 6:53course, the term two state solution continues to be thrown around and discussed and
- 6:58debated. But at a time when pro Palestine people are clashing with the cops
- 7:08in our own city, which has a lot of is Jewish Americans and Jewish
- 7:14New Yorkers here, don't you find it unsettling that a resolution trying to accomplish
- 7:25a couple of different fronts and gets vetoed, especially the part where they condemn
- 7:31a moss is not alarming to you When we're seeing quote unquote flood, which,
- 7:41according to my friend Freda I didn't know this. The flooding of Brooklyn
- 7:46and the flooding of Wall Street for Gaza, do you know what that comes
- 7:48from? The organizers could have named this protest anything, but they chose flood
- 7:56for those of you. For the flood of flood was the name of the
- 8:01horrifying Hamas operation on October seventh. So are you flooding for peace or for
- 8:09the eradication of Israel? And if you wanted to flood the streets of New
- 8:16York to eradicate and call for the eradication of Jewish people in a city that
- 8:24has many Jewish New Yorkers, I don't think you should be welcome here.
- 8:35There's a difference between free speech and which leading to violence but also inciting violence.
- 8:45Why is anybody saying that the terminology and the way they're talking and the
- 8:48way they're clashing is not inciting violence. The NYPD is now saying Hamas get
- 8:56this. Hamaskud be hiding under costumes to perform an attack at the Halloween Day
- 9:03parade. Now I admire their vigilance, and I agree that costume characters are
- 9:07always in a time like this an easy way. But I also think putting
- 9:18out statements like that puts fear in every New Yorker that doesn't flood the streets
- 9:26for the pro Palestine government. But it honestly, this whole thing has put
- 9:33the fear in a lot of Jewish New Yorkers. And as someone who is
- 9:39Jewish, I've said this to a few of my friends who are also Jewish.
- 9:46This role as a podcast should not be a podcast that says, oh
- 9:52my god, everything's ending, The world is ending, the Jewish state,
- 9:56the Jewish population is under the threat to the point where you can't leave your
- 10:01house. I don't believe that we should be afraid, as a body of
- 10:09Jewish New Yorkers to leave our home. That's what Ummas wants and we have
- 10:16to defy that every way possible. So please don't say in your homes,
- 10:26stay vigilant, but don't let Rumas win. Don't let the flooding win,
- 10:31because like nine to eleven, that's what their goal was, to defeat us
- 10:37entirely. And this country re bounded. This country has grew stronger during that
- 10:48time, and I think there're may be more pro Israel rallies, but also
- 10:56more speaking up and telling ju to Jewish people, hey, don't stay in
- 11:01your home. That's what they want you to They want you to be so
- 11:05afraid you can't leave you. No, we're not gonna let them paralyze us
- 11:09as a city, as a community, and so we should flood the streets
- 11:16with those Shabbat tables to counteract. And if that doesn't work, then we
- 11:24should just show up and show up to our jobs, show up to work,
- 11:28show up to wherever we're supposed to, show up to the synagogue,
- 11:33and show the world you're not gonna defeat us. And I think that resilience
- 11:39will win out over time. Am I concerned about a media blackout in Gaza?
- 11:50Do I want the Israeli government to be very transparent on how they're taking
- 11:54out Hamas? Absolutely, But this whole rhetoric is Israel shouldn't be turning out
- 12:01the lights. They shouldn't be doing this. They shouldn't be doing that.
- 12:07Where's the holding Hamas accountable for their horrord actions? And that's what this podcast
- 12:13will do. We will hold it Harmas accountable while also encouraging the Jewish people
- 12:20to be out and about on the streets of New York and to not give
- 12:28into the fear that those inciters are trying to do. Hundreds are being arrested,
- 12:41and I bet you they're not going to be under the scrutiny of a
- 12:45former president that was said to incite violence at the Capitol on January sixth.
- 12:54Whether you agree with that or not, it's a different story. But hold
- 12:58all of these flutters, then a flood of the streets quote unquote for Gaza.
- 13:07Tell the world they're incighting as well, and then we'll talk on the
