- 0:01Romans chapter 15. Let us pray.
- 0:07Our Lord, our God, our King, our Master.
- 0:11Lord, we are here to serve you and you alone.
- 0:14God Almighty, we thank you for peace.
- 0:17We thank you for love. God, we thank you for all of
- 0:21your scriptures, Lord given to us and breathed and inspired.
- 0:25Holy Spirit, come and fill us today.
- 0:28Holy Spirit, search us today. Holy Spirit, I pray that you
- 0:32will put your finger on anything that is not of God.
- 0:36Any lie of the enemy, any accusation of the enemy, we tear
- 0:40down anything that tries to oppose the truth and the
- 0:45knowledge of Jesus Christ. And so, God, I get out of my own
- 0:48way. We exalt your holy name.
- 0:51You're the banner over this ministry.
- 0:53You are the banner over our lives.
- 0:56And God, we are laid down lovers, we are sold out to you,
- 1:01the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace.
- 1:04We love you, Father, we love everything about you.
- 1:07Heal our broken bodies and heal marriages and bring the
- 1:11prodigals home. God, I pray against drug
- 1:14addiction in the name of Jesus. Lord, I pray against any of the
- 1:18satanic occult practices in the name of Jesus.
- 1:22I pray God that you will bring about a revival in this world at
- 1:29large, every continent, every people group, every nation and
- 1:33every tongue. Father will be singing out
- 1:36praises to you, Father, because you are worthy to worthy to be
- 1:41praised in the highest. God, we thank you for another
- 1:45day that your mercies are new. We thank you, God, that we can
- 1:49stand in your presence, Lord that we can gird up our loins.
- 1:53Father, I pray that you will give us strength for the battle
- 1:58courage. Father, I pray against any
- 2:00feelings of disappointment and disillusionment.
- 2:03Father, I pray that we will not get off track and sideline God.
- 2:09I pray that we'll stay in the way, Father, and that we will
- 2:12move in accordance with your scriptures and with your word.
- 2:16Father, I pray that we'll be found doing whatever it is that
- 2:20you have called us into today. Help us to abstain from sexual
- 2:25immorality, Father. Help us, Father, to rise to the
- 2:29occasion that you have called us to for such a time as this.
- 2:33Father, I pray that we will be locked eyes with you and that we
- 2:37will be crying out. Maranatha, come, Lord, come.
- 2:40The Spirit and the Bride say come yes, fill us today, Holy
- 2:46Spirit, teach us today. Holy Spirit, I decrease as you
- 2:49increase. And it's all about you, King
- 2:51Jesus, and it's in your holy and precious name that I pray.
- 2:57Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 3:03Him that is weak in the faith receive, but not to doubtful
- 3:09disputations. So here we're going to see this
- 3:13oxymoron that those that think they are so spiritually strong
- 3:20are actually the weak ones. And those that are counted as
- 3:25weak are actually the strong ones.
- 3:28And Paul's going to paint this beautiful picture for us that we
- 3:31do not look, need to look down the nose on those that are stuck
- 3:36in legalism and we do not need to abuse our liberality friends.
- 3:42Blessed is the balance, the person who understands that we
- 3:46do not need to be a stumbling block for others.
- 3:49Yes, everything is permissible, but not everything is
- 3:53beneficial. And that is what Paul is going
- 3:56to paint the picture of here in this chapter of Romans verse 2.
- 4:02For one believes that he may eat all things.
- 4:05Another who is weak eats herbs. So we remember whenever the
- 4:10sheet was laid down three times in front of Peter, and Peter was
- 4:15told to rise and kill and eat, and there were unclean things in
- 4:18that sheet. And Peter said never, he would
- 4:22not eat anything that was unclean.
- 4:24And God said, don't call anything that is unclean or that
- 4:28is clean unclean. And so we also see whenever
- 4:32Jesus Christ himself, when he said it is not what goes into
- 4:36the body that defiles a man, but it is what comes out, which is
- 4:40the overflow of the heart. Friends, it is our words that
- 4:44defile us. Friends, when we use the Lord's
- 4:48name in vain, whenever we lie and when we take oaths, whenever
- 4:53we are swearing on something, it is what defiles us.
- 4:58And So what you need to understand is that whenever we
- 5:01are covered in the blood of Jesus Christ, we do not we need
- 5:04to worry about how we stand with God Almighty.
- 5:08He's going to show us by degrees the sanctification and we are
- 5:13going to be made more like Christ each and every day.
- 5:16And so you need to know there are some on the spiritual
- 5:19journey who are way far beyond all of the simplicity that you
- 5:24are in today. But then there are those that
- 5:26are just coming online and they are having to deal with the most
- 5:31outward repulsive sins first. But as we go on with the Lord,
- 5:35he is so faithful to sanctify us and to get us ready for all of
- 5:40eternity. And before we die, He's going to
- 5:42be working on the nuances that we weren't even aware of,
- 5:47friends. And so here you can see that
- 5:49Paul is calling us to wisdom. And it takes wisdom to
- 5:53understand how to deal with people whenever they're coming
- 5:56into the fold. We do not need to discredit and
- 5:59discount them because they don't look like us on either side of
- 6:03the coin. We need wisdom from God, and
- 6:06we'll know that they're brothers and sisters by the love that
- 6:10they share for each other. 3 Let him, let him not that eats,
- 6:18despise him that eats not, and let not him which eats not judge
- 6:23him that eats, for God has received him.
- 6:26So don't worry about if somebody says I can't eat that and then
- 6:30somebody else says I can't eat that.
- 6:33And you're trying to judge which one is right with God.
- 6:37He's saying do not do so because God is the one who knows their
- 6:41heart. For who are you that judges
- 6:45another man's servant to his own master?
- 6:48He stands or falls. Yes, he shall be held up for God
- 6:53is able to make him stand. So he's saying that God is the
- 6:57one who gets to determine where they are with him on the
- 7:01spiritual journey. Do not worry about the speck in
- 7:06your brother's eye when you've got a plank hanging out of
- 7:09yours. And it depends on who you're
- 7:11talking to. If you're talking to somebody
- 7:13who's been following after the Lord for a way lot longer than
- 7:17you and they are spiritually more mature than you are, you
- 7:22look like the one who is failing.
- 7:26But for us who have been on this journey for some time and we
- 7:30have not arrived and we will not arrive until we are called home,
- 7:35Hallelujah. By and by.
- 7:37And you need to know that when new believers are coming online
- 7:40and they're struggling with things that are so obvious to
- 7:43us, it is no different, friends, then whenever we have an older
- 7:49follower of Jesus looking down on us and God is telling us
- 7:53right here through his servant Paul to let him sort them out,
- 7:59that it is not for us to try to figure it out.
- 8:02Friends, all we need to do is love on them.
- 8:04All we need to do is accept them.
- 8:07As long as their profession is in Christ and Christ alone and
- 8:11Christ crucified, that is all that we need, friends, for
- 8:15fellowship. And yes, we are going to be
- 8:20witnesses whether we like it or not.
- 8:23We are going to be an example to others whether we like it or
- 8:27not. And we need not be stumbling
- 8:29blocks for people, friends. We don't just use our liberality
- 8:35so that we can lead others into sin in their lives because God's
- 8:40dealing with them on a different level when it comes to their
- 8:44sanctification. Perhaps they are addicted to
- 8:47alcohol and you don't think there's anything wrong with it
- 8:51and you think that you could just bring them up into that
- 8:55liberty. But what you're doing is you're
- 8:57actually enticing them back into the dungeon and the pits of hell
- 9:02because they do not have the same convictions that you do.
- 9:06And this calls for wisdom, Friends, it is very hard.
- 9:11Whenever we are looking down the nose and judging others, it's
- 9:15very hard for us to understand how somebody can't see that what
- 9:20they are doing, whether it's watching the polluted filth on
- 9:25the television or on their phones, that is secular and
- 9:29cultural and has no eternal value.
- 9:32But they don't see anything wrong with it.
- 9:35Yet it's hard, hard for us, friends, whenever we have gotten
- 9:39to a place with the Lord and our sanctification where we see that
- 9:42those things are not profitable, they have no eternal value.
- 9:46It is such a waste of time. But we cannot just discount them
- 9:51and discredit them and marginalized them and push them
- 9:55aside and not disciple and exhort them.
- 9:58Friends, that is God's way. He wants us to come alongside of
- 10:01people to get level with the gravel with people and to help
- 10:06people by example, friends. And that is so much harder to do
- 10:11than just telling somebody what they ought to do.
- 10:14It's so much harder for us to actually do the things in our
- 10:18lives that mirror model Christ. That is an example to the weaker
- 10:22brothers, so that they can see it and it's a light bulb moment
- 10:27and only the Holy Spirit can draw them closer to the Lord God
- 10:31Almighty. Five.
- 10:36One man esteems one day above another, another esteems every
- 10:41day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded
- 10:45in his own mind. This is the importance of us not
- 10:48receiving our doctrine from man. This is the importance of
- 10:53receiving all of our doctrine from the Lord God Almighty
- 10:57alone. We need to be in the Word,
- 11:00rooted and grounded in the Word. We need to be studying the
- 11:03Scriptures and we need to make sure that we are memorizing all
- 11:07of these books from Genesis to Revelation, nothing added,
- 11:11nothing subtracted. You need to know that when you
- 11:15do that, God is faithful to speak to you and He will show
- 11:19you, friends that every single day is a Sunday.
- 11:23Every single day is a Saturday, it's a Sabbath.
- 11:27You need to know, friends, that God has called us to give an
- 11:32account to Him, Him and Him alone.
- 11:34We will not have to sit and worry about what man thinks
- 11:38about us if we are fully sold out to him.
- 11:41And if he tells us to work on Sunday, we will work on Sunday
- 11:44and if he tells us to rest on Saturday, we will rest on
- 11:48Saturday. Friends, whatever the Lord calls
- 11:51us to do, that is what we will do.
- 11:53And we need not fear man. Whenever man looks down the nose
- 11:57and snuffs at us, and he tells us that what we are doing is
- 12:03sacrilegious, we do not need to worry about what man says.
- 12:07We only try to please God, and we do not need to appease man.
- 12:13Friends six. He that regards the day regards
- 12:16it unto the Lord. And he that regards not the day
- 12:20to the Lord, he does not regard it.
- 12:22He that eats, eats to the Lord. For he that gives thank God
- 12:26thanks. He and he that eats not the
- 12:29Lord, he eats not and gives God thanks.
- 12:32So he's telling us that there's no rhyme or reason to any of the
- 12:37outward expressions. When we're truly following after
- 12:41the Lord, we will be like David, let in to eat the showbread, let
- 12:45in to eat the priest bread. And there is such liberty and
- 12:51there is certain privileges that come from being completely yoked
- 12:57up to the Lord Jesus Christ. And that is why it is not a
- 13:02beneficial, profitable thing to try to look at your brother and
- 13:06to try to figure out where they are.
- 13:08If you will get Christ centered, if you will fix your eyes upon
- 13:13Jesus Christ and Christ alone, He's going to lead you home by
- 13:19and by. He's going to sanctify you and
- 13:21you will not be stifled in your growth.
- 13:24Friends, so many of us are in suspended animation because
- 13:28we're too focused on our neighbors.
- 13:31We're too focused on trying to gauge our own sanctification by
- 13:36where other people stand. And that is such a trap of the
- 13:41enemy. If we will just lock eyes with
- 13:43the Lord Jesus Christ, He's going to lead us home by and by.
- 13:47We do not need to worry about what does man say?
- 13:50What did the bylaw say? What do all of of the
- 13:53denominations teach us? What does this certain
- 13:56particular camp follower, this certain particular camp say?
- 14:00We need to get our eyes off of all of the things of this world
- 14:04and lock eyes with Jesus Christ and he's going to show you that
- 14:08you do not need to worry about all of the things in this world
- 14:13and we need to be more worried and heavenly minded friends. 7
- 14:22For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself.
- 14:26We're accountable unto God and God alone.
- 14:29We are not an island friends. We do not just do life alone all
- 14:33by ourselves. There is no prophet in that.
- 14:37We can't just be a monk somewhere that is not
- 14:40profitable. We need to be light and salt to
- 14:42this world. We need to be an example for
- 14:45others, and they need to see Christ and us more than they see
- 14:48religion. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord, and
- 14:53whether we die, we die unto the Lord.
- 14:56Whether we live therefore or die, we are the Lords.
- 15:01So here's what you need to understand.
- 15:03To live is Christ and to die is gain.
- 15:09We do not need to fear if we die.
- 15:13We do not need to fear if somebody can kill the body.
- 15:16We do not need to fear if some lunatic is putting a crosshair
- 15:26on us. We do not need to worry about
- 15:29that. Friends, we speak for the Lord
- 15:31alone, and He takes care of our family when we are gone.
- 15:35And we do not need to worry and fear if someone is not accepting
- 15:43of God's word. He said if they hate you, just
- 15:46remember they hated me first. If they persecute you, just
- 15:50remember they persecuted me first.
- 15:52And if they kill you, just remember they killed me first.
- 15:55You need to know that Jesus Christ laid down the example for
- 15:59us to follow, and now all we do is follow Him and Him alone.
- 16:03And the world will be affected by your obedience unto the Lord
- 16:11Jesus Christ. It is a natural overflow.
- 16:14Friends. 942 This end Christ both died.
- 16:21It rose revived that he might be Lord both of the dead and the
- 16:28living. Hello, hello, hello.
- 16:32Wake up, O Sleeper. He is the judge of the living
- 16:38and the dead. He is the Lord over all the
- 16:42earth, over the entire universe. There is nothing hidden,
- 16:46friends. He's got the keys to death and
- 16:49hell and Hades. We do not need to worry whether
- 16:53we live or we die. We do not need to worry,
- 16:56friends. If you are covered in the blood
- 16:58of the Lord Jesus Christ and He is, the only way you're going to
- 17:02get in to all of eternity is by being covered in His righteous,
- 17:07holy, pure, innocent blood. Friends, it's nothing that you
- 17:12have done, and it is everything that He did for us.
- 17:17He is both the Judge of the living and the dead.
- 17:23He is Lord of the dead and living. 10 But why do you judge
- 17:28your brother, or why do you set at not your brother?
- 17:32For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
- 17:40Just so you know, friends, there are two judgments.
- 17:43The first one is for the believers who were called up and
- 17:47caught up in the air to meet him.
- 17:50We will have to suffer for the judgment of our rewards and most
- 17:56of what we do is wood, hay and stubble.
- 17:58But some things that we do when we don't let our left hand know
- 18:02what our right hand is doing, some things that we have done,
- 18:06we will be rewarded for. That is our judgement.
- 18:10But for those who have never placed their faith in the Lord
- 18:14Jesus Christ, and they took their last breath and they died
- 18:17before they ever could, they will have to stand at the great
- 18:21White Throne and give an account.
- 18:23And they'll try to show all their humanitarian efforts.
- 18:27They'll even try to give their religious pedigree.
- 18:30And he will say, depart from me, for I never knew you 11/4.
- 18:37It is written as I live, says the Lord.
- 18:41Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess to God.
- 18:46That is what you need to know at the great white throne.
- 18:49Every single man, woman, child that has ever been born, from
- 18:54the beginning of creation all the way to the end of time,
- 18:58whenever the fullness of the number comes in, friends,
- 19:02whenever God has made heaven full, I want you to know that
- 19:07every single person, no matter how wicked they were, will bow
- 19:14their knee and confess. And this is not universalism,
- 19:18friends. This is not salvation for them.
- 19:21But this is to prove the point that they should have done it in
- 19:26this life and not waited until then.
- 19:28It's going to happen, and do it now, friends.
- 19:31Do not wait. 12 So then every one of us shall give an account
- 19:37of himself to God. Just remember that that is how
- 19:41we work out our salvation with fear and trembling friends. 13
- 19:46Let us not therefore judge one another anymore, but judge this
- 19:51rather that no man puts a stumbling block or an occasion
- 19:56to fall in his brother's way. So this is the principle of the
- 20:00neighbor's good. You need to know that you have
- 20:04liberty, you have freedom. Who the sun sets free is free
- 20:07indeed, and nothing that we do beyond salvation is going to
- 20:12keep us out of heaven. Praise God, Hallelujah.
- 20:15Yeah, you need to know that it is the things that you do beyond
- 20:20that, all the works that prove your faith.
- 20:23They are only for your rewards. And so when we understand that,
- 20:28there is an inkling for us to think that we can abuse grace.
- 20:33And far be it from us to be so liberal in our approach that we
- 20:40'cause our brother to fall because he was weak and he saw
- 20:46us drinking and he thought that drinking was OK.
- 20:50And the next thing you know, he is a full blown alcoholic, has
- 20:54wrecked his car and he has died friends.
- 20:57And we were the stumbling block for that.
- 21:00He's lost his family, he's in a rehab because we thought that it
- 21:05was OK for us to just have a drink around him.
- 21:10Far be it from us to be the stumbling block for our brothers
- 21:14in our liberty. And we do not fall into
- 21:18legalism, we do not rest on religion, and what we do is we
- 21:24try our best to be a good example to those who are in a
- 21:28weaker state than we are. 14 I know, and I'm persuaded by the
- 21:34Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself, but
- 21:39to him that esteems anything to be unclean, to him it is
- 21:43unclean. So here Paul is letting us know
- 21:47that there are weaker brothers who, because of their
- 21:52convictions, they do not see that there is liberty.
- 21:58And so they're still holding on to their legalism, and it'll be
- 22:01a while before they can come out of that.
- 22:04But we do not need to try to break them down or do not need
- 22:08to entice them with things that to them are wrong. 15 But if
- 22:17your brother be grieved with your meat, now walk you not
- 22:22charitably destroyed, not him with your meat for whom Christ
- 22:27died. So he's saying these brothers
- 22:30who see that you're eating the pork, that you are eating the
- 22:39unclean food that they do not think is kosher, we don't need
- 22:43to try and look down on them. We need to be patient, just like
- 22:48Christ has been patient with us. They will get to the place where
- 22:51they understand that it is not beneficial for them to stay
- 22:58stuck in legalism. They will get there and Christ
- 23:01will get them there, but we do not need to be the ones that
- 23:04caused them to stumble. 16 Let not then your good be evil
- 23:12spoken of. There's the whole caveat,
- 23:14friends. What does it even matter?
- 23:19If we are trying to be a good witness to somebody and
- 23:22ultimately lead them into a deeper relationship with God
- 23:26through His Son Jesus Christ, what does it matter?
- 23:31If we are doing things that we know are not sin, that we know
- 23:38are not going to be counted against us, and we're doing
- 23:41those things, but it causes them to speak evil of us because they
- 23:46think that we are abusing our grace.
- 23:50Far be it from us to be those who, when we get around people,
- 23:56we make them stumble. 17 For the Kingdom of God is not meat and
- 24:02drink, but righteousness and peace, joy and the Holy Ghost.
- 24:06That's what we're after, friends.
- 24:08We want righteousness, His righteousness.
- 24:11We want peace that comes from Jesus.
- 24:13We want the joy not just in what's happening to us, but we
- 24:17want the Holy Ghost. We want the fullness of the Holy
- 24:20Ghost. If you're full of the Holy
- 24:22Ghost, then you don't need to worry about all of the luxuries
- 24:26and the pleasantries. You don't need to worry about
- 24:29about being drunk, you don't need to worry about being
- 24:35liberal in your approach to all your freedoms.
- 24:38Just be filled with the Holy Ghost and watch what he does
- 24:41through your life. 18 For he that in these things serves
- 24:48Christ is acceptable to God and approved of men.
- 24:51Think about it, friends. Righteousness and peace and joy,
- 24:55fullness of the Holy Ghost is acceptable not only to God, but
- 24:59it'll be acceptable to all men, friends, if we are those things
- 25:03and not worldly, carnal, earthy friends for the things of this
- 25:08world, friends. 19 Let us therefore follow after the
- 25:12things which make for peace, and things where with one may edify
- 25:19another. So there you go, he says it
- 25:21again. If we're following after the
- 25:23Holy Ghost, we're locked eyes with the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 25:26Then we will be serving God, and when we are doing so, it'll
- 25:30edify every single person, no matter what camp they fall in.
- 25:3524 Meat destroys not the work of God.
- 25:38All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for that man who eats
- 25:44with a fence. There it is.
- 25:46Friends. We know that back in Genesis,
- 25:48whenever God was creating the whole world, He said it is good.
- 25:53So therefore it is us who makes things unclean.
- 25:56It is us who makes things evil friends, it is not God.
- 26:01So all things that God made is pure and we just need to get out
- 26:06of our own way and not offend our brothers by our lot.
- 26:10Lifestyle and offense is just that.
- 26:13It's a fence that keeps us blocked out from being able to
- 26:17fellowship with God's servants, God's children, and that is not
- 26:24what we need to do. We need to break down that fence
- 26:26and we need to remove a fence. We don't need to be offended by
- 26:31our brothers, and we don't need to offend others by our
- 26:34liberality. We'll end on 21.
- 26:41Actually, no, we've got a couple more 21.
- 26:43It is good neither to eat flesh nor to drink wine, nor anything
- 26:50whereby your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.
- 26:55So this abstinence, this fasting could be a great conduit to the
- 27:00ministering to a group of people who are stuck in religion,
- 27:08they're stuck in legalism. And if we will abstain and if we
- 27:13will not give in to all of our liberties, it will be a great
- 27:20ministry opportunity for those stuck in legalism. 22 Have you
- 27:25faith? Have it to yourself before God.
- 27:31Happy is he that condemns not himself in that thing which he
- 27:36allows. So he's saying that we can err
- 27:41by trying to flaunt all of our freedoms with those who are
- 27:48still weak. And in the beginning of their
- 27:50walk with him, he's saying if you have that faith and you
- 27:55don't see anything wrong with whatever it is that you want,
- 27:59wanting to do that could be a stumbling block to somebody
- 28:02else. Have it to yourself, friends.
- 28:05Do it amongst yourselves. Don't do it publicly, outwardly.
- 28:10Make sure that you're not flaunting it around with your
- 28:14license to sin with abusing grace.
- 28:24That is not from God, friends. And he's telling US 23 and he
- 28:28that doubts is damned if he eat because he eats not a faith for
- 28:36whatsoever is not a faith is sin.
- 28:41So there it is, friends, you, that's what you need to know.
- 28:44Paul couldn't make it any more plain.
- 28:47If there are convictions in your life and you don't follow those
- 28:54convictions, it's sin to know what you ought to do and not to
- 29:00do. It is sin, friends, and we don't
- 29:04need to try to look at our brother and say, well, he does
- 29:06it, so why can't I? It doesn't work that way.
- 29:11God deals with you on a personal level.
- 29:14And there are things in other people's lives that they're
- 29:17skating by with, and it's not going to destroy them, that if
- 29:20you let into your mind and heart and life, it's going to destroy
- 29:25you. And there is a different economy
- 29:28in heaven. And some people in this life who
- 29:32are just skating by will be the least in the Kingdom of God.
- 29:36But God has called you to higher ground, friends.
- 29:40God has called you into this relationship where you will be
- 29:45the greatest if you will allow Him to continue to sanctify you
- 29:50through this little life that He's given you.
- 29:53I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter here in
- 29:56Romans. I know I sure have.
- 29:58I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 30:05I love you. We'll see you back here
- 30:13tomorrow. God bless you.
