- 0:00Speaker 1: Kristen Cole is the embodiment of simple Plan, that is
- 0:03Speaker 1: who he is.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Welcome to My life, man, Hello, and welcome to May
- 0:14Speaker 2: the review be with you With Nick and Joe. I'm Joe,
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm Nick, and today we are reviewing season two of
- 0:24Speaker 2: House of the Dragon, the Queen that Ever was. We're
- 0:30Speaker 2: at the finale once again, Nick, We're at the finale
- 0:33Speaker 2: of a Song of Ice and Fire story. It's always
- 0:38Speaker 2: kind of a bittersweet moment. I mean, the finale is
- 0:41Speaker 2: always like a supercharged part of the story, right with
- 0:45Speaker 2: like intense things happening, both politics and magic, and then
- 0:49Speaker 2: it ends, and then we just don't have it for
- 0:52Speaker 2: like a year or two, and I hate it. Life
- 0:55Speaker 2: gets a little more bitter and it's the worst.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I think it's gonna not be out until like twenty
- 1:01Speaker 1: twenty six, because I think they start filming in twenty
- 1:06Speaker 1: twenty five. So oh that hurts two years until season
- 1:10Speaker 1: three of House of the Dragon. Uh, it's a little tough. Obviously,
- 1:15Speaker 1: this last episode, you know, the Song of Ice and
- 1:19Speaker 1: Fire stories do a very good job of setting up
- 1:23Speaker 1: the next season in these in these finales, and typically
- 1:27Speaker 1: there are some really cool moments but everyone knows that
- 1:31Speaker 1: the Song of Ice and Fire insane episodes are typically
- 1:36Speaker 1: the one before last, which I think that stands true here.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But there was some really awesome, awesome things that happen
- 1:44Speaker 1: in this finale that we can unpack here and then
- 1:45Speaker 1: we'll do an overall and overall for sure chat. But yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: what what do you what are your initial thoughts? It's
- 1:55Speaker 1: overall I want to start.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna do just a bra odd sweep
- 2:01Speaker 2: here of season two. I'm just gonna say, I think
- 2:07Speaker 2: I think in most cases, this was a better season
- 2:12Speaker 2: than the one that we got before. I think personally
- 2:17Speaker 2: I enjoyed it more. I think I would have to
- 2:18Speaker 2: watch both again to like actually break down which season
- 2:22Speaker 2: like narratively like works better. But in season one there's
- 2:27Speaker 2: a ton of like time shifting and a lot of
- 2:30Speaker 2: jumping around, and like a lot of like hyper storytelling,
- 2:33Speaker 2: like just like really fast storytelling, and like I think
- 2:37Speaker 2: most of the time it's pretty effective in the first season,
- 2:40Speaker 2: whereas this season, in season two, we had kind of
- 2:44Speaker 2: the opposite.
- 2:45Speaker 4: It was like slow down storytelling.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, there were some moments.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Yeah, there were some moments.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I mean, we pick up where we left off with
- 2:56Speaker 2: Jase being killed right in the aftermath, and I don't
- 2:59Speaker 2: know how much time actually goes by between episode one
- 3:02Speaker 2: and the finale, like a month.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Maybe it's it's not that much time.
- 3:09Speaker 1: No of season two. Yeah, No, I want to say
- 3:15Speaker 1: it's more. And the only reason that I'm thinking that
- 3:18Speaker 1: is and this is a great point you're making about
- 3:20Speaker 1: what is the timeline of season two? Like how long
- 3:23Speaker 1: is this season in real time? A month? Two months,
- 3:26Speaker 1: six months? The reason I think it's longer than a
- 3:29Speaker 1: month is solely because of Eggon's healing after being burned
- 3:35Speaker 1: alive basically falling off of his dragon, Like he has
- 3:39Speaker 1: made a lot of progress and those kind of injuries
- 3:45Speaker 1: in this kind of a you know, medieval time, I
- 3:50Speaker 1: feel like it's months most likely. Granted it's TV show
- 3:55Speaker 1: and the showrunners are telling a story in their own
- 3:58Speaker 1: time and so there's no real way to tell. But
- 4:02Speaker 1: if I had to guess, I would say definitely longer
- 4:04Speaker 1: than a month span.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I think you're right, and something that I hadn't considered,
- 4:09Speaker 2: Like there's one other so most of the time, when
- 4:11Speaker 2: like people are traveling, yeah, they just skip the time,
- 4:16Speaker 2: and like they just teleport, and they're just like unless
- 4:18Speaker 2: it's it's a dragon writer, like the dragon writers, I kind.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Of give them a pass. It's like, well, I don't
- 4:23Speaker 4: know how fast a dragon.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Is in this world, right, But other characters like they
- 4:29Speaker 2: just teleport and they just wherever the plot requires them
- 4:32Speaker 2: to be, right, except for Thailand maybe right, like he
- 4:38Speaker 2: ends up in Esos and like, yeah, I really don't
- 4:41Speaker 2: know how much time like transpired between I guess when
- 4:46Speaker 2: he was dismissed and told to like go do that,
- 4:48Speaker 2: go talk to the pirates the triarchy.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and then and also being there and the other
- 4:54Speaker 1: character too, now that I'm thinking about it, you mentioned Thailand,
- 4:56Speaker 1: I forget his name, but the one of the right
- 5:00Speaker 1: hand men of Raniera who she sends to Heron Hall
- 5:05Speaker 1: to scoop up Damon, I forget his name, but you
- 5:09Speaker 1: know she sent him there like two or three episodes ago,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and finally in the finale he arrives at Haron Hall. Now,
- 5:14Speaker 1: we don't know how much time it takes to get
- 5:18Speaker 1: from from Dragonstone, right, that's where they're hauled up from
- 5:24Speaker 1: Dragonstone to Haron Hall.
- 5:26Speaker 4: But think you're right.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I think it's probably two or three days because like
- 5:30Speaker 2: by Dragon Back, they get there like.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Quick two hours. Yeah, yeah, like it's vast.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so I imagine like yeah, two two or three days,
- 5:38Speaker 2: sounds like that's reasonable by horse.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yeah. This is always a big problem in Song of
- 5:43Speaker 1: Ice and Fire TV shows, is the traveling in the
- 5:49Speaker 1: amount of time. And it's only a problem because some
- 5:52Speaker 1: people online like really decide to decide to like decide
- 5:55Speaker 1: to be loud and think about it too much because
- 5:57Speaker 1: at the end of the day, like it's a TV show,
- 5:58Speaker 1: they're telling a story. We can't pick it too much.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Like, hell, we can't, but we're trying. I'll listen.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I think you're you're absolutely right. I think it's probably
- 6:12Speaker 2: more than a month. It's still leaps in bounds slower
- 6:17Speaker 2: than the first season, And yeah, that I appreciate that,
- 6:22Speaker 2: or simply like just getting to know these characters better.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a great point. I was That's exactly
- 6:28Speaker 1: what I was thinking when you mentioned the story how
- 6:31Speaker 1: much we time skip and that first season by like
- 6:34Speaker 1: you know, just all these different we meet different actors
- 6:38Speaker 1: who are playing these characters as they're older, and this
- 6:40Speaker 1: season we get to actually like settle into the actors
- 6:42Speaker 1: who are playing these characters and really get to like
- 6:45Speaker 1: appreciate what they're doing, which was awesome, especially with Amen
- 6:49Speaker 1: and Egon. I was I'm still a little sad that
- 6:53Speaker 1: Aggon like basically became crippled so quickly, because I love
- 6:58Speaker 1: his characters so much, and and I wish we got
- 7:02Speaker 1: like another episode or two of him being himself before
- 7:05Speaker 1: he got just absolutely destroyed by his brother. But maybe
- 7:10Speaker 1: we'll get some more at some point because he's not
- 7:12Speaker 1: dead somehow, so and now you know he's on the
- 7:15Speaker 1: way to SS I think right is where he's going.
- 7:21Speaker 2: We'll see, YO, keep keeping things. Unless Nick, was there
- 7:26Speaker 2: was there anything regarding just overall for the season that
- 7:30Speaker 2: you wanted to mention before we talk about the Queen
- 7:33Speaker 2: that ever?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Was? Yeah, So I know we talked about kind of
- 7:37Speaker 1: this the pacing, and it was a little slower than
- 7:40Speaker 1: season one, and and for the most part, I don't
- 7:43Speaker 1: mind that. I like being able to get to know
- 7:44Speaker 1: the characters and the intricacies about them. It gives the
- 7:47Speaker 1: actors more like space to develop the character, which is
- 7:52Speaker 1: really cool. And so for the most part, I was
- 7:56Speaker 1: okay with it, and I really did enjoy it. Were
- 8:00Speaker 1: and I've been really loud about this on threads about
- 8:03Speaker 1: Damon being at hair in Hall for five episodes and
- 8:06Speaker 1: basically just being haunted for five episodes because.
- 8:09Speaker 4: You made your complaints and voice very well heard on
- 8:12Speaker 4: the thread of the.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Story just did not progress for five episodes. And and
- 8:18Speaker 1: you know, in the what was its episode seven, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: the whole thing with Oscar Tully and him that was
- 8:29Speaker 1: really fun and really cool and really badass, and then
- 8:34Speaker 1: finally in episode eight, we got this really awesome moment,
- 8:39Speaker 1: and so it kind of made it all worth it.
- 8:41Speaker 1: But it was that was the only part of the
- 8:43Speaker 1: whole season that was just felt a little bit too
- 8:45Speaker 1: dragged on for me, like they just kind of like
- 8:48Speaker 1: they shoved him at they shoved him to hair and
- 8:50Speaker 1: Hall so they could deal with the other parts of
- 8:52Speaker 1: the story, And yeah, I don't him just being haunted
- 9:00Speaker 1: for that long. It just felt a little bit drawn
- 9:01Speaker 1: out to me. I think I could have done like
- 9:03Speaker 1: maybe one or two episodes less of that. But it
- 9:05Speaker 1: all makes sense, especially with the finale, which was really
- 9:09Speaker 1: cool to reveal and and way to kind of complete
- 9:12Speaker 1: that storyline. But that's the only thing, but the pacing, Yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 1: I've enjoyed it. So for the most part here in season.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Two, same I agree, Like there were times where I
- 9:22Speaker 2: was like, come on, get on with it, like what
- 9:24Speaker 2: you said about Damon, It's like I can.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Only watch this man be crazy for so long.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It ultimately felt like all the visions were kind of
- 9:33Speaker 2: saying the same thing.
- 9:34Speaker 4: It's like, bro, you're not the main character, right, like.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Come on, like three episodes of that, maybe you know,
- 9:44Speaker 2: not not five, but man, does it lead to a
- 9:48Speaker 2: great spot? Two great spots really, so let's talk about that.
- 9:53Speaker 2: The Queen that ever was.
- 9:55Speaker 4: I enjoyed this episode. It's not what I thought it
- 9:57Speaker 4: was going to be.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I thought we were going to see a lot more
- 10:01Speaker 2: action and violence in this episode.
- 10:03Speaker 4: And yeah, I think probably most people thought that, right.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Which we should know better that the finale of a
- 10:11Speaker 1: Song of Ice and Fire TV shows is not is
- 10:13Speaker 1: not chaotic.
- 10:14Speaker 4: It's a great point.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Most of the time, it's like a it's a reaction
- 10:17Speaker 2: right to something violent that's already happened, right. I think,
- 10:21Speaker 2: with very few exceptions, is that true. The only one
- 10:24Speaker 2: in actual like Game of Thrones like proper that I
- 10:27Speaker 2: can think of that ended with like something violent was
- 10:32Speaker 2: the finale of season six when SIRC blows.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Up the sept.
- 10:38Speaker 1: That was the finale.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the finale of six.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Oh man, that's crazy.
- 10:43Speaker 4: It's legendary. God.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I just make the argument that eight ends with a
- 10:49Speaker 2: little bit of violence too, with the death and generous
- 10:52Speaker 2: spoilers for anyone who somehow is listening to this and
- 10:55Speaker 2: hasn't watched that yet.
- 10:58Speaker 1: There's no passing there there. We don't have to call
- 11:00Speaker 1: it spoilers for that. That's their fault.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Agreed, Agreed, But yeah, this was this was an episode
- 11:08Speaker 2: with political intrigue and emotionally charged moments, and my dude,
- 11:16Speaker 2: I did not really care about Thailand in this show
- 11:23Speaker 2: until this episode.
- 11:25Speaker 4: And.
- 11:27Speaker 2: His minor story became like one of the highlights for
- 11:32Speaker 2: me of the entire season.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Really, that's yea.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely everything.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Like the poor guy, like after he talks to the
- 11:39Speaker 2: triarchy and he and he's like cool, it's been decided. Great,
- 11:43Speaker 2: and they're like, well, actually, we really want you to
- 11:45Speaker 2: talk to our ambassador, like he are not our ambassador
- 11:48Speaker 2: or admiral.
- 11:48Speaker 4: He he really need you need to inspire confidence in
- 11:52Speaker 4: him first. And he's like, I.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Mean I was kind of hoping I could drink some
- 11:56Speaker 2: wine and like rest for a minute, and there was
- 12:00Speaker 2: zero rest from that moment.
- 12:02Speaker 4: From that moment, his life is a sitcom and it's
- 12:05Speaker 4: amazing him just getting his ass handed to him in
- 12:09Speaker 4: the Mud by Lohart Mud Show, We're at the freaking Renaissance.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I was like, where are we right now?
- 12:20Speaker 4: Incredible? Loharr is incredible, you know what?
- 12:23Speaker 1: Like that just makes me think real quick side side note,
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Renaissance Festival needs to rebrand aze like Game of
- 12:29Speaker 1: Thrones Festival anyway, that's the thought.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I should be definitely some some like they're basically already there, but.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Like they just need to, like, you know, put the
- 12:39Speaker 1: actual name on it and then.
- 12:40Speaker 4: We're make it like Martin Fest. That doesn't sound good.
- 12:46Speaker 4: There you go, Martin, that's creepy. Who show up.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Jesus Man?
- 12:57Speaker 4: But uh yeah yeah, the whole heart thing so good.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I absolutely loved everything about Tayland. What were what were
- 13:05Speaker 2: the standouts for.
- 13:05Speaker 4: You in the in the finale.
- 13:08Speaker 1: The finale for me, standouts Aaron at Haron Hall, which
- 13:11Speaker 1: is Damon at Heron Hall, which is hilarious because I
- 13:13Speaker 1: hated that he was there for five episodes and then
- 13:15Speaker 1: and then it was just so bad ass. He finally,
- 13:18Speaker 1: you know, he he he goes and has the vision
- 13:23Speaker 1: of like the three eyed Raven and his in the
- 13:25Speaker 1: future of his house, in the future of west Rows.
- 13:29Speaker 1: He sees what we assume as Robert Barathian before the
- 13:33Speaker 1: vision even starts, you know, with the antlers, right at
- 13:37Speaker 1: least that's the speculation. And it was just like a
- 13:41Speaker 1: really awesome way to bring home that whole part of
- 13:44Speaker 1: the story and for Damon to finally realize that like,
- 13:48Speaker 1: just like you said, I'm not the main character in
- 13:50Speaker 1: the story, Like this whole war is bigger than me.
- 13:54Speaker 1: The future of my house is bigger than me. Like
- 13:58Speaker 1: I need to get in line, and the only way
- 14:01Speaker 1: to ensure that the human race continues to exist is
- 14:08Speaker 1: for me to bend the knee, you know basically. And
- 14:11Speaker 1: of course, like we get a Winter is Coming line,
- 14:14Speaker 1: which I was not expecting at all, you know, and
- 14:18Speaker 1: it's Damon saying winter is coming up all the people
- 14:21Speaker 1: who are choosing to like look after everyone else other
- 14:27Speaker 1: than themselves and now focus on Winter coming. It's Damon
- 14:31Speaker 1: of all people. It's like, what are we talking about?
- 14:34Speaker 1: So that whole that whole storyline just sticks out. That
- 14:36Speaker 1: was awesome. And then something we probably should talk about
- 14:40Speaker 1: is all the new dragon writers, them being at the
- 14:43Speaker 1: table with Rania sticks out just like you know her,
- 14:49Speaker 1: essentially a day after they all claimed dragons, just like
- 14:52Speaker 1: in three days, you guys are going into the battle.
- 14:54Speaker 1: We have to win. We have to finish this now.
- 14:58Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure at least one one of them
- 15:00Speaker 1: is gonna like it's probably old. He's just gonna he's
- 15:04Speaker 1: either gonna chicken shit and go the other way, or
- 15:06Speaker 1: he's gonna flip sides very easily, because he doesn't seem
- 15:09Speaker 1: like a very loyal I mean, none of them can
- 15:11Speaker 1: be that loyal, but he's the least loyal to them
- 15:13Speaker 1: all in my opinion, So that stood out as well.
- 15:19Speaker 1: And and then of course, Alison, these two are frustrating
- 15:25Speaker 1: as from a best friend perspective. They just keep you know,
- 15:28Speaker 1: traveling in the middle of the night, trying to sneak
- 15:30Speaker 1: into each other's kingdom just to have a conversation. You know, sorry, Besty.
- 15:34Speaker 1: They're just each apologizing left and right, and.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Just for the love you once bore me as a friend.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Alison, it would be nice.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I want to believe that, Like if you and I
- 15:50Speaker 2: were like tearing America apart. Like we could still meet
- 15:53Speaker 2: in like I don't know, like Nevada or like Missouri
- 15:57Speaker 2: or something and be like, hey, like, I know we
- 15:59Speaker 2: hate at each other and we're trying to like rule
- 16:01Speaker 2: the world, but we're st cool, right.
- 16:03Speaker 1: That would never happen. We would never be on we
- 16:07Speaker 1: would never be on opposite size.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I love you, But yeah, I agree that that whole
- 16:22Speaker 2: concept of them. I think that's actually one.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Of the.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Whole concept of them being able to do that, that's
- 16:27Speaker 2: actually one of the lights for me this season.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Conversations are fine. I think they're interesting.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're very well performed.
- 16:36Speaker 4: But yeah, the like the idea of them is kind
- 16:38Speaker 4: of stupid, especially Nia somehow getting all the way through
- 16:44Speaker 4: King's landing and that close to Alison in the sept
- 16:49Speaker 4: like are you kidding me?
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 16:51Speaker 4: Yeah, really was the best we could think of writers.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't. Yeah, it just it is a because
- 17:00Speaker 1: it just doesn't quite do it. It doesn't hit the mark.
- 17:04Speaker 2: It feels a little fan fiction he compared to like
- 17:07Speaker 2: all the other stuff that we're given.
- 17:08Speaker 4: It's it's like, this doesn't this doesn't jell And I love.
- 17:12Speaker 1: That the showrunners too. At the end of the episodes
- 17:14Speaker 1: when they're talking about, you know, after the episode and
- 17:16Speaker 1: all that, they're always talking about how they're such good
- 17:18Speaker 1: friends and their best friend they've been friends since they
- 17:20Speaker 1: were kids. It's like, go back and watch the first season.
- 17:25Speaker 5: The second that Allison chooses to marry the father, like
- 17:27Speaker 5: they what were they like fifteen? Like, yeah, they have
- 17:32Speaker 5: been adults longer than they were best friends when they
- 17:34Speaker 5: were younger. So I don't know if the best friend
- 17:37Speaker 5: thing should really be what they're hanging their hats on
- 17:40Speaker 5: here for why they keep trying to meet each other, because.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure their friendship has been like on the
- 17:46Speaker 1: rocks longer than they were actually best friends from a
- 17:49Speaker 1: timeline perspective at this point. So I don't love that
- 17:55Speaker 1: excuse if you will sometimes but whatever, Telcos it was, let.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Me let me ask you this because I think this
- 18:06Speaker 2: was a quick thing. But he was one of the
- 18:09Speaker 2: more interesting moments that happened in the episode. It was
- 18:15Speaker 2: very quick and it's something we've already spoken a little
- 18:18Speaker 2: bit about. But there's a revelation about where has Auto
- 18:23Speaker 2: High Tower been.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Oh my god, I get a.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Quick shot at the end that Otto is imprisoned, and man,
- 18:32Speaker 2: I did not see that coming.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Well, when he went back on it, it makes sense.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Amon hints at it when he first gets the throne.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Amen hints at it. Then I believe Allison also talks
- 18:47Speaker 2: about how weird it is that he just didn't say
- 18:51Speaker 2: which which thing he was going to go do? Was
- 18:53Speaker 2: he going to go talk to the youngest son? Was
- 18:55Speaker 2: going to go talk to the Tyrrells? Like? So let
- 18:59Speaker 2: me let me ask you this two part question here.
- 19:03Speaker 2: First part, where do you think he's being in prison?
- 19:06Speaker 1: And two?
- 19:06Speaker 4: Who do you think is imprisoning him?
- 19:09Speaker 1: Oh? I have zero clue. I have absolute zero clue
- 19:13Speaker 1: because the last thing I even remember was Amin saying,
- 19:16Speaker 1: let's find my grandfather and make sure he doesn't cause
- 19:21Speaker 1: trouble or something. So there's a possibility he's just in
- 19:25Speaker 1: the He's in King's Landing in the prison.
- 19:27Speaker 4: So I think that would be the most ironic thing ever.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Hamen's just keeping him close, rights, just keeping him close. Yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 1: Amen's keeping him close where you can, where you can
- 19:37Speaker 1: see him. That would be my guess.
- 19:40Speaker 4: I have two guesses on this.
- 19:41Speaker 2: My first is that one that's someone has kidnapped him
- 19:46Speaker 2: in King's Landing.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Probably uh uh.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Damon no amen, Amen, Amen, amen, Amen. Yeah, I don't
- 19:54Speaker 2: know why that sounded weird for me for a second.
- 19:57Speaker 2: And yeah, and he's still there or he did take off.
- 20:01Speaker 2: This one's less likely, but I kind of like the
- 20:03Speaker 2: idea of it. And I don't know how this would
- 20:05Speaker 2: work exactly, but I would love the idea of it's
- 20:10Speaker 2: the Tyrrells and like this is how the Tyrrells get
- 20:13Speaker 2: brought into the third season.
- 20:17Speaker 4: I would say that only.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Because you know, the Tyrrell's obviously a very powerful house
- 20:22Speaker 2: in West Roast. They're right there with the high towers,
- 20:27Speaker 2: and it feels like we, I mean, we haven't we
- 20:30Speaker 2: haven't really seen the Tyrrells yet in this world. I mean,
- 20:33Speaker 2: I guess there's a couple we haven't seen. We haven't
- 20:35Speaker 2: really seen the gray Joys. We've heard the grade Joys,
- 20:37Speaker 2: we know they're coming. We've had the Tyrell's name dropped
- 20:41Speaker 2: a few times. I think we're getting both of those
- 20:43Speaker 2: houses next season. And I think like the Tyrrell's, like
- 20:46Speaker 2: making like a huge play like this would be a
- 20:48Speaker 2: great way to like introduce them into the story. That's
- 20:51Speaker 2: just my tinfoil theory. I have no good, solid evidence
- 20:54Speaker 2: as to how to make that work.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Love it, love it.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I do have.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I do have one more thing. I want to like,
- 21:03Speaker 2: nitpick here, Nick, anyone listening. I don't care about Raina Targarian.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I don't care. And it sucks because, like
- 21:19Speaker 2: I the story that they're doing. A friend of mine
- 21:22Speaker 2: called this that there's there's a character in the book
- 21:24Speaker 2: that the creator said is not going to be in
- 21:27Speaker 2: the show, which was a bummer. Her name was Nettles,
- 21:30Speaker 2: and she was my favorite part of the book. And
- 21:33Speaker 2: I was like, man, that sucks, Like that's a that's
- 21:35Speaker 2: a whole dragon writer that's just not going to be there.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I had a friend speculate, I think they're going to
- 21:39Speaker 2: combine Raina's story with Nettle's story, like that's why Nettles
- 21:44Speaker 2: isn't in the show. Turns out that friend was completely right,
- 21:49Speaker 2: completely right.
- 21:50Speaker 4: But like I don't.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I don't care about Raina, and I don't think that
- 21:55Speaker 2: that's my fault because I don't think the show at
- 21:58Speaker 2: this point really cares about Raina all that much.
- 22:02Speaker 1: They don't either, They don't.
- 22:03Speaker 2: How much screen time do you think she collectively got
- 22:06Speaker 2: in the finale twenty seconds. Honestly, I'd be surprised if
- 22:10Speaker 2: it's that much.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Like I think it was less than a minute.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I think she was. She had more screen time
- 22:16Speaker 1: in the in the the previous like episode recap before
- 22:23Speaker 1: this episode, just to remind us of where she was
- 22:27Speaker 1: and what she was doing. Honestly, Also, like, not.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Only does the show not seem to care about Raina,
- 22:34Speaker 2: apparently no one that Reina was with cares about Raina
- 22:37Speaker 2: because like she stuock off super easily, and apparently no
- 22:41Speaker 2: one went looking for her. Like yeah, you think they
- 22:43Speaker 2: care about the missing princess, but like nope, we're not
- 22:47Speaker 2: gonna spend any time talking about that.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Yep, no one cares. But you know what that that
- 22:51Speaker 1: probably means that she's gonna play some kind of an
- 22:53Speaker 1: important role and maybe save the day one of these
- 22:55Speaker 1: episodes next season, and then it'll be even more infuriating
- 22:59Speaker 1: because it's really not possible.
- 23:03Speaker 2: So the same friend who called this, they also described
- 23:09Speaker 2: what they think is going to happen with Reina and
- 23:13Speaker 2: like how they're gonna fold this character into the Nettles character.
- 23:16Speaker 2: And I hated her because of like how good it sounded,
- 23:23Speaker 2: and how much like I just want to be a
- 23:24Speaker 2: purist and like just have like the book be the book, right,
- 23:27Speaker 2: but like what they described in like trying to like it. Basically,
- 23:31Speaker 2: what she suggested is everything that we knew about Nettles
- 23:37Speaker 2: from the book actually was Raina. But since the book
- 23:41Speaker 2: is a history book and is it doesn't have personal accounts,
- 23:45Speaker 2: it was never no one was ever able to confirm
- 23:49Speaker 2: or clarify that this wild girl on this dragon that
- 23:53Speaker 2: no one was able to tame, was actually a princess targarian,
- 23:58Speaker 2: you know, which that's actually if she's right, that's actually
- 24:03Speaker 2: really cool.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I love that. Actually, that's fantastic.
- 24:07Speaker 4: I do too.
- 24:07Speaker 2: So I'm either I'm either going to continue to hate
- 24:09Speaker 2: this because it's not what I want it to be,
- 24:11Speaker 2: or this is going to redeem itself and I'm gonna
- 24:13Speaker 2: be like, this was the coolest story.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's fantastic. The last thing I wanted to mention about
- 24:19Speaker 1: this finale is a conversation between two characters that we
- 24:25Speaker 1: saw for very very briefly, Kristin Cole and Brother High Tower.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Chris.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Kristin Cole, perhaps all men are corrupt. Well, that's a line,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and then also, to die now would be a kind
- 24:41Speaker 1: of relief. I'm pretty sure Kristin Cole is the most
- 24:44Speaker 1: depressed man in all of west Rows.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I love what a teenager Kristin Cole is.
- 24:52Speaker 1: God, such a moody teenage fifty year old. You know,
- 24:57Speaker 1: he's so dramatic.
- 24:59Speaker 2: He he is the embodiment of simple plan, Like like,
- 25:04Speaker 2: welcome to my life.
- 25:05Speaker 4: That is who he is. Welcome to my life. Man
- 25:09Speaker 4: to I would be so we're done. That was that's just.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Hang up the hang up the stream. That was great,
- 25:17Speaker 1: that's funny. Kristen Cole is the embodiment of simple plan.
- 25:21Speaker 1: That's that's perfect. Yeah. I love how Allison's brother was
- 25:26Speaker 1: like trying to confront him about having sex with his
- 25:29Speaker 1: sister and Kristin Coles ends up being so depressed that
- 25:32Speaker 1: the guy was just like, you know what, never mind,
- 25:35Speaker 1: you're more miserable than if I killed you. It'd be
- 25:37Speaker 1: worth Keeping you alive is better than you be dead.
- 25:41Speaker 2: He's so charged for that conversation, and by the end
- 25:45Speaker 2: of it he just looks so bummed out.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he just sits down next to him like damn.
- 25:49Speaker 3: He's right, damn, dude, you want me to do now
- 25:59Speaker 3: I don't want to do it.
- 26:01Speaker 4: What a great way to diffuse murderous intent.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Something weird? Yeah, God, so funny.
- 26:10Speaker 4: So funny, Dick.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I feel like there is so much more, like in
- 26:15Speaker 2: general about House of the Dragon we could talk about
- 26:19Speaker 2: and like maybe one of these days, like we could
- 26:20Speaker 2: do like just an episode about you know, different different
- 26:23Speaker 2: theories that we have or different like different highlights. But
- 26:28Speaker 2: it sounds like, you know, we're both pretty positive on
- 26:31Speaker 2: where we are here with the show. Just some quick
- 26:35Speaker 2: highlights that I'm not going to get into, but just
- 26:37Speaker 2: like things that like stuck out to me.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I love that Adam Hole is just.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Like already like on board with being a Dragon writer
- 26:44Speaker 2: for Nira. I love that Aaron Hole is like.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Screw you, Dad, I'm going home after this war.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I love Sad Corliss. I love everything that's going on
- 26:56Speaker 2: with Corlis and.
- 26:57Speaker 4: The Valerians Mira, even though some.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Questionable moves with or not questionable moves, but just some
- 27:05Speaker 2: weird scenes between her and Allison. I love the scene
- 27:08Speaker 2: like you said with Damon. Yeah, just some some awesome highlights,
- 27:13Speaker 2: quick highlights for you.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Quick highlights. Winter is coming. Damon Bend's the knee freaking
- 27:24Speaker 1: Helena can see confirmed Dragon dreams right or whatever they're called,
- 27:29Speaker 1: Like we kind of have already known, but she's like
- 27:31Speaker 1: that we never.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Talked about yet.
- 27:33Speaker 1: That Yeah, she's like full on, I can see the
- 27:36Speaker 1: future in my dreams and basically help Damon like realize
- 27:39Speaker 1: that he needs to bend the kne quit being a dick.
- 27:43Speaker 1: And and yeah, other than that, Agon leaving King's Landing,
- 27:48Speaker 1: that's a big deal. He gave himself a nickname, the
- 27:51Speaker 1: Realm's Delight, which I thought was extremely comical. And yeah,
- 27:57Speaker 1: other than that, those are kind of the big highlights
- 27:59Speaker 1: for me. And yeah, that's it.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I have but two questions for you then before we
- 28:06Speaker 2: close this out, the first being for the season, who
- 28:12Speaker 2: is your MVP character and what is your favorite line
- 28:18Speaker 2: from House to the Dragon Season two.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Honestly, my MVP character is Agon, and I'm pissed that
- 28:25Speaker 1: he got so wrecked so quickly because the acting was
- 28:28Speaker 1: fantastic and I actually really liked him as king. If
- 28:32Speaker 1: everyone around him wasn't like so gung ho about controlling him,
- 28:36Speaker 1: he might have actually been able to make some decent
- 28:38Speaker 1: decisions on his own, because he kind of did right
- 28:41Speaker 1: before he got like just mind controlled by everyone. So
- 28:45Speaker 1: Aggon's kind of the MVP for me. I hope that
- 28:48Speaker 1: there's some retribution in his storyline. That would be really cool.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna say this because it's hilarious and I forgot
- 28:55Speaker 1: that this was a line. So Damon says this in
- 28:58Speaker 1: Heron Hall to the this the warden whatever his name
- 29:02Speaker 1: is this? What's the guy's name? The Castilian? Yeah, oh no,
- 29:08Speaker 1: he doesn't. He says it to he says it. I
- 29:11Speaker 1: don't even remember who he says it to. But he's
- 29:13Speaker 1: trying to raise an army. It might have been Oscar totally.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Did Oscar totally come to see him before earlier in
- 29:19Speaker 1: the season.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's seen him before that moment in the
- 29:22Speaker 2: Gods would I think he saw him like twice before.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Okay, so I think he's actually telling this Oscar Tolly
- 29:27Speaker 1: and it's about raising army. And this is Damon's quote,
- 29:30Speaker 1: my time is short and I have need even army.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Perhaps you'll, perhaps you'll, you'll might place a feather pillow
- 29:36Speaker 1: over his head and speed along your inheritance.
- 29:39Speaker 4: That is that is an amazing moment.
- 29:45Speaker 1: I just stumbled about it on my phone. I was like, oh, wait,
- 29:47Speaker 1: David says this insane thing.
- 29:51Speaker 4: That's a that's pretty good for me.
- 29:55Speaker 2: My MVP is probably it's probably Oscar Tully. We're just like,
- 30:04Speaker 2: how out of the woods, Like he just came to
- 30:06Speaker 2: the party. Yeah, and just became the center of attention,
- 30:11Speaker 2: like immediately.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I loved that. Yeah.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Badass, just absolutely bad ass. Favorite line though, has to
- 30:20Speaker 2: be and it's it's from the finale.
- 30:22Speaker 4: It has to be how many wives do you have hands?
- 30:31Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 30:32Speaker 1: Not even that. How many Lanister bastards were created that night?
- 30:37Speaker 4: Oh man? We could do a whole theory video about that.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah right, we got all these targarian ones we met?
- 30:46Speaker 1: What about the les?
- 30:47Speaker 4: How many? How many golden hair? The seed is strong?
- 30:50Speaker 2: Right?
- 30:51Speaker 4: How many golden hairs do we have across the sea?
- 30:54Speaker 1: All pirates too? They're all pirates?
- 30:57Speaker 4: Oh my god?
- 31:00Speaker 2: Always new rock stars listening. They should be listening. We
- 31:03Speaker 2: just came up with their next video. Somehow you made
- 31:06Speaker 2: me love that even more?
- 31:07Speaker 4: Thanks?
- 31:07Speaker 1: Hell yeah, anything for you? I got you?
- 31:10Speaker 4: Oh yeah, stop it? Nick? How would you rate season two?
- 31:16Speaker 1: We do out of ten TV right at a ten
- 31:20Speaker 1: seven point two out of ten.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm pretty close. Actually, I go.
- 31:26Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna do a decimal. I was gonna I
- 31:28Speaker 2: was gonna stick with a with a solid number here.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Probably give it a seven. Like it's a good watch.
- 31:32Speaker 6: It's a really good good watch. Yeah, good watch real
- 31:35Speaker 6: Definitely rewatch would be on my rewatch list. It's just
- 31:39Speaker 6: a cool storyline. And yeah, that's it friends.
- 31:43Speaker 2: That's it all right. Well, next time you catch us,
- 31:47Speaker 2: we'll we'll be talking maybe.
- 31:49Speaker 4: Out of time travel Marvel stuff. I don't know where
- 31:50Speaker 4: we're at with that all the things.
- 31:53Speaker 2: If you're if you're trying to figure that out, be
- 31:55Speaker 2: sure to follow us on wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Follow us on threads so you can listen to Nick
- 32:00Speaker 2: you witty as hell.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Uh. May the review be with you and until next time,
- 32:05Speaker 4: may the review be with you. Peace please peace.
- 32:11Speaker 1: M H.
